Episode 20 - Azalee Tatum

Hello Oak Ridge family and friends. Today we're

in for a special treat as Ron has arranged for

us to hear from the beloved Aslee Tatum in her

retirement home and she was so eager to share

with us some words about how she's waited for

Christ and Christmas and some scriptures that

we have for the Advent reading. I grew up on

a 350 acres next to the oldest of five children.

We lived in a two bedroom and we've had a gracious

life. One day, our father brought in a Christmas

tree that would almost not go through the door.

We decorated with a few little decorations, put

icicles on it, and then at night we sat around

the fireplace with my grandfather there. a charge

hero. He says, hand me a poker. I'll trip Santa

Claus when he comes down and we'll get all the

presents. Naive, but memories explore. We didn't

know much about Jesus' birth growing up, but

we knew it was his Savior. We knew that he died

for us. We knew that he was coming again. But

as I developed over the years, The birth of Jesus

gives me shivers. The thing that God would give

is his son, a baby son that we might have lived

and reached eternal life. May we ever rejoice

and be thankful. I've been asked to read Galatians

1, 4 through 7. and 2 Samuel 7, 18 through 22.

I advise you to read those scriptures. Now I

say that the heir, as long as he is a child,

does not differ at all from a slave, though he

is master of all, but is under guardians and

stewards until the time appointed by his mother,

even so we, when we were children, were in bondage.

forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the

that we might receive the adoption as sons. And

your servant's house for a great while to come.

In this manner of man, O Lord God, now what more

can David say to me or for you? Lord God, I know

your servant. For your words say, and according

to your own heart, you have done all these great

things to know your servant. Therefore, you are

great, O Lord God, for there is none of you,

nor is there any God beside you according to

all that we have heard with our ears. Your voice,

O Lord, is powerful. The voice of you, O Lord,

is majestic. We worship you with gladness and

come before you with joyful songs and know that

you are God. On this season, I, Ashley, say Merry

Christmas. At this season, O Lord, we celebrate

the birth of your son born in Bethlehem during

the time of King Herod and who killed the babies

in Bethlehem. An angel of the Lord appeared to

Joseph to flee to Egypt. After Herod died, an

angel continuously directed Joseph. In a dream,

Joseph was directed to Nazareth. Matthew painted

a picture of Jesus as the true Messiah announced

by God through the prophets. In Matthew 28 10,

Jesus said to them, Do not be afraid. Go and

tell my brothers to go to Galilee. There they

will see me. Jesus speaks to us through the scriptures.

Don't be afraid to believe. My Lord is my helper,

I shall not be afraid. Merry Christmas and do

not be afraid. I am Ashley, age 95. Be not afraid,

or ere be tide. Your Savior will take care of

us.
