Episode 22 - The Youth Group

Hello, Oak Ridge family and friends. This is

David here with the youth group and we're about

to read the fourth Sunday of Advent readings.

But before we do that, I'd like some of our youth

group members to share some things that they're

looking forward to for Christmas. I'm Parker

Hughes, a tradition in my family. Something I

look forward to is opening the early present

on Christmas Eve. something we do every year

on Christmas Eve and I look forward to. My name

is Jeremy Oviedo. A tradition is that I give

candy cans out at school. I wear a little ugly

sweater and I have little pockets. A little big

present on my sweater and I put candy cans in

there. I pass out candy cans at school, so yeah.

Oh, and it's pretty funny they fight for it sometimes,

so yeah. Hi, my name is Zach Harris, and one

thing I look forward to during Christmastime

is all the songs, especially Merry Did You Know.

Hi, I'm Rhiannon, and one of the things I look

forward to every Christmas is seeing my cousins,

because they live really far away. Hi, I'm Alyssa

Harris, and a tradition that our family has done

recently is a Saran Rap Ball game, where you

have a Saran... wrapped ball filled with presents,

and you're trying to unwrap it as fast as possible

before the person next to you rolls the dice

and gets double and steals it from you. And it's

really fun and competitive, and I look forward

to it every year. Hi, I'm Yana. One of my favorite

Christmas carols is Carol of the Bells. All right,

and I'm David again, and I really look forward

to hearing Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel each year.

There's something about those minor chords. This

is Isaiah 7 verses 10 through 16. Look the young

Isaiah 7:10–16

woman is with child and shall bear a son and

shall name him Immanuel You shall eat curds of

honey before the child knows how to refuse the

81 through 7 17 through 19 give here a shepherd

of Israel You who lead Joseph like a flock, you

who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir

up your might and come to save us. Restore us,

O God, let your face shine that we may be saved.

O Lord, God of hosts, how long will you be angry

with your people's prayers? You have fed them

with the bread of tears and given them tears

to drink in full measure. You make us the scorn

of our neighbors. our enemies laugh amongst themselves

that we may be saved but let your hands be upon

the one at your right hand the one who has made

strong for yourself then we will never turn back

you give us life and we will call on your name

1 through 7. obedience of faith among all the

Gentiles for the sake of His name, including

you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ,

to all God's beloved in Rome, who are called

to be saints. Grace to you and peace from God

our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew

1, 18 -25. Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah

took place in this way. When his mother Mary

had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived

together, she was found to be pregnant from the

Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph, being a righteous

man and unwilling to expose her to public disgrace,

planned to divorce her quietly. But just when

he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord

appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph,

son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as

your wife, for the child conceived in her is

from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and

you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his

people from their sins. All this took place to

fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through

the prophet. Look, the virgin shall become pregnant

and give birth to a son, and they shall name

him Immanuel, which means God is with us. When

Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel

of the Lord commanded him. He took her as his

wife but had no marital relations with her until

she had given birth to a son and he named him

Jesus.
