  1. Now don't you with uh with it being uh today being good Friday, I

  2. don't. I'm really gonna pass that up. That's not what I'm gonna preach

  3. on. But I mean, thinking today on that scripture, I'm not sure.

  4. I sure it now works out and work steps up. No greater love

  5. and this than a man laid down his live his friends. Man, when

  6. when you think about it in that sense, I guess that makes us Jesus

  7. as friends. Yeah, that's a that's a quite aside of the thing you

  8. think upon that this kind of I felt. I had this message come to

  9. me Monday night, Yeah, Monday night when I was reading my Bible,

  10. and it kind of goes on right off of a brother single's message. And

  11. then when the Master was talking before dismissal, he actually mentioned this very up

  12. passed the scripture of Wednesday nine when he talked about the shoot himite woman when

  13. she come to Elisha and he said, the Lord's hit it from me,

  14. said, y'all bevere with us tonight. We'll be looking at Second King's chapter

  15. four. We're gonna start in verse We'll read verse eight to eleven. It

  16. says, and it fell on the day that Elisha passed to shoot him.

  17. Where was a great woman, and she constrained him to eat bread. And

  18. it was so that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither

  19. to eat bread. And she said under her husband, behold, now I

  20. perceive that this is a holy man of God, which passes passes by us

  21. continually. Let us make a little chamber, I prayed thee on the wall,

  22. and let us sit for him there a bed and a table, and

  23. a stool, and a candlestick. And it shall be when he coming in

  24. to us, that he turned them thither. And it fell on a day

  25. that he came thither, and he turned in onto the chamber and lay there.

  26. Let's pray, I haven't I want to. I want to preach you

  27. just for a little while. I've leave the title the Lord gave me is

  28. you're going to need him again. So speaking of this woman here, so

  29. it's a very familiar story to all of us. I'm sure we all grew

  30. up at you grew up in church here and at quite all. Not often,

  31. but it's we know the gist of it. So Elisha, as brother

  32. Samuel said, he kind of the forerunner, right, that just kind of

  33. brought Elisha into the picture. So obviously he was the servant of the great

  34. man of God, Elijah. And so it says right here in verse verse

  35. twelve eleven an phil on a day that he came thither and turned in onto

  36. the chamber and lay there. And so this obviously it's this has been going

  37. on for some time. And I want, I want to back up real

  38. quick in this right here, verse nine, and she said under her husband,

  39. be whold. Now I perceive that this isn't the holy man of God.

  40. So that's after they had ate bread together. It's I got to think

  41. about it. You can tell a man of God in the in their in

  42. their actions, their cave up and they're just the manner of life. And

  43. right there after they had ate brinch. He told her husband, I was

  44. either this is a man of good. And so after this time, now

  45. Elisha tells Ghazi, which is his sir, and he tells him go call

  46. calls you and my woman to you and ask her what is to be done

  47. for her? So Elisha called uh ghese I called her in and ask her

  48. what's to be done for you? Elijah wants to Elisha wants to know you

  49. wanted to talk to the king for you, you wanted to talk to one

  50. of his officers. And so she said, And so remember, I don't

  51. I don't need none of that. You know, I dwell amongst my own

  52. people. I'm content with the life that I have. And so he comes

  53. back and tells elisha Uh. She says, she don't need nothing. She's

  54. she's tend to dwell among her own people. And so Elishah, you know,

  55. just sitting there and GHEs I says, she don't have any children.

  56. And so he tells him, he says, and he says, Tror teyror

  57. to come to me. And so she comes and stands at the door.

  58. And you can tell this is a very meek woman, because when she asked

  59. her husband to build the room, she said, let us build a little

  60. chamber, I pray to you. So then it says that she comes and

  61. stands at the door with Elishah, just a humblady. And when I've read

  62. that, for some reason, I pictured my mom. I've seen her many

  63. times, just she'll come to dad ask her something. She has come to

  64. the door, maybe standing there like that. She's a very reverent, respectful

  65. woman, as the word of God, says a great woman. So he

  66. tells, he tells the shoot and my woman, at this time, according

  67. to life, you'll you're gonna conceive a child. And so she she looks

  68. at him and says, don't lie to him, a man of God,

  69. please please don't deceive me. And so from that verse song you see,

  70. you see no more conversation until it says that the child is there according to

  71. uh, the time of life. And so Elisha done went on done his

  72. name, so we can say nine months plus, you know, because of

  73. the way the time of life and the way life has said it. And

  74. so so the child goes to his father in the field, and I got

  75. to think of maybe they owned him on the fields and all that. You'll

  76. you'll see my reason why later on when we get into chapter eight. And

  77. so the child goes to his father in the field and with the reapers,

  78. and he says, my head, my head. And so the father calls

  79. when he gets laughed and says, take him to mama, take you home

  80. and just let him cool off, maybe let him warm up. We don't

  81. like one man said, ill read he said, we don't know. Everybody

  82. just kind of says it's hot, you know, we don't it don't say

  83. maybe it was cold whatever. So it says that he sat on his mother's

  84. knees until noon and then died. And so then she calls for her husband

  85. and she tells him, says, I pray THEE. Let me, let

  86. me go to Elisha. Yeah, And so her husband tells her, says,

  87. you know how you're gonna find him. It's neither it's neither Sabbath nor

  88. a new moon. So all its same day. It's probably it's getting later

  89. in the day. And so she just says, think she just tells him

  90. that'll be all right. So so she gets she gets one of their young

  91. men. So it says she asks for one of their servants, one of

  92. the lads, and asked, and she tells him, slagging, not on

  93. your riding for me, except I bid THEE. So they take off the

  94. head to Mount Caral to look for Elishah, the man of God, and

  95. it says Elisha's cedar a great way off and he and he told Hayes,

  96. I said that's that shoe of my woman. He said, run go meet

  97. her, ask her? Is it well with THEE? Is it well with

  98. your husband? And well with the child. And she looks right at at

  99. Gahesei and says it is well because she she knew she had to get to

  100. see my ai at this point. Let it all get ahead of myself.

  101. So help. So she goes to Elishah, the man of God, and

  102. she grabs that she followed at his feet, and Ghesei gets a little worked

  103. up. You know, hold on, lady, you just told me all

  104. as well. What what are you crying for? What what are you bothering

  105. the man of God for? When I just asked you are you good?

  106. And your husband good? Your son? And so folks, Elisha like pastor

  107. said that scripture, he said, uhh. I goes to thrust her away,

  108. and he tells, I just let her be her her heart, her

  109. soul is vexed within her right. So and Elisha goes on to save.

  110. You know, don't I'm not really sure what's going on here. Has I'll

  111. let her be her The Lord Ha hid this thing from me and so and

  112. here it rolls right on from that. She tells him says, then not,

  113. I say, don't deceive me. I'm not the one that asked for

  114. this child. I said, I haven't eaten nothing me and my husband,

  115. because as I said, her husband's old. We're just ready to We're gonna

  116. he's gonna keep working in the fields. I'm just gonna take care of the

  117. house. We're just gonna let life go on like it is. And you

  118. prophesy this thing upon me. Yes, she's grateful for it, but maybe

  119. in her mind she's thinking it would have been better off just to finish,

  120. you know, maybe the last ten fifteen years of our life. Maybe the

  121. kids just say, he's eight years old. We had eight years to grow

  122. to love this kit. You had eight years to make brother's memories with him,

  123. and now he's died. So so now Elisha tells gahes I, take

  124. my rod and go down to their house, speak to no one and lay

  125. it upon his head. Right and so uh, Gehesi takes off hidden that

  126. way, and then a few verses death, It's said, kind of goes

  127. brother Samer's message. She said, tells Elisha, as the Lord liveth and

  128. my soul liveth. I went out to part from thee. So Elisha tell

  129. Elisha follows after her. They're already making their way there. Make you wonder

  130. if Elisha knew that geahes I wasn't gonna be able to raise the kid from

  131. to death. And so my reason being for that let me go ahead and

  132. follow that through, is help us Lord. So now, uh, my

  133. reason for that, I believe Ghesi at some point begin to doubt the man

  134. of God in just in weird way because I grew up all my life I

  135. would hear this story. I'd say, I know, if if my pastor

  136. tells me to do something and I do it, God's gonna honor it,

  137. even if even if I'm yes, you gotta be right to be used.

  138. But I believe I remember reading the Bible a long time ago there's one of

  139. these. One king had it with God at one point and then he fell

  140. and he was gonna get a certain I don't remember what it was, but

  141. not really a curse in but he prayed that to be upon his kids and

  142. their kids, and God honored it because at one point he was a great

  143. man of God. And I've always wondered why why the kid didn't get raised

  144. up when ghese I laid that staff on there. And then I believe the

  145. reason being is so help us Lord. So gahese I Elisha heals. He

  146. tells naming to go in depth and naming as we all know, naming arn't

  147. the waters. I can't even wear much far far bed and it's actually one

  148. of So he departed and all that from Elisha, and one of his servants

  149. come to him and said, if the Man of God would ask you to

  150. do some great thing, wouldn't you have done it? So it says that

  151. Elisha uh name. It comes back to Elisha where he's at after he did

  152. God he said he's still perfect. He comes back to Elisha and so and

  153. he thanks you and all that. He says, let me bless you.

  154. What do you want, Man of God? I'm made new. This man

  155. he was captain of the King of Syria's hosts. This man had had money,

  156. and so Elisha said, I need I don't need nothing pretty much is

  157. the words. I don't need what you have. The needed what I have.

  158. So and then this try here's where I believe he has. It's one

  159. chapter over and so it's after the fact of gheson Off the child not raising

  160. from the dead, when he laid them of God's staff on him. Yeah,

  161. haze I says, when they get when the naming leaves it all that,

  162. Yeah, haes, I just sitting there thinking about it, says,

  163. man, that would have been nice. We could we could have got something

  164. from him. And so he gets it on the work up in his mind

  165. and it says, he ran after I just forgot the God's name. Naming.

  166. Sorry, the word and the name has a high key every time I

  167. tell you that name. So naming. So he chases after naming, and

  168. he tells naming. Hey, the Man of God's got these two sons of

  169. a prophet that he wants to bless. Give me a talent of silver and

  170. two changes of garment. And so naming says, take two talents. You

  171. know, that's the least I can do. This Man of God just then

  172. got I got my healing and all that, and I got and so name

  173. uh gadhese runs back, gets the two talents of silver. Now I searched

  174. and searched. This could be wrong. I've ran the numbers probably ten times.

  175. But that seemed just mind boggling that. So they say, a talent

  176. of silver in that day and age would have been it was equipment to like

  177. six thousand days work for the average person. That could be wrong. And

  178. in today's money, they say that's anywhere from one hundred and thirty thousand to

  179. two hundred and fifty thousand dollars at the weights back then. And I got

  180. to thinking that that makes sense to me because it says that he bagged up

  181. the two talents of silver and he had to send two servants to carry it.

  182. For haines I could have carried it, then he would just took in

  183. his pockets, and so he hides it at the place. And so he

  184. talked it to Eliza, and Elisha said, where'd you go? He said,

  185. I went nowhere yea. And the Man of God said, did not

  186. my spirit go with you? When when he come off his chariot. We

  187. there's there's major consequences for for what for what ga Hayes I done, And

  188. that's how it will be for me and youth. We have to realize the

  189. consequences. So and so the Man of God looks at him and says,

  190. Naman's leprosy is gonna come upon you and your sea forever. And it says

  191. ghese I went out snowy white right that I can't help but think that maybe

  192. Ali show when when ghyes I went out from him, he said, what

  193. did I to do to deserve this right, I would have never dreamed of

  194. doing that, Noma Elijah. Right, you think I did what I read,

  195. what I sold, I read good things. I poured why in Man

  196. of God's hands, and then got got haze eye of all people lying to

  197. the Man of God. Possibly could have destroyed uh names relief later on that

  198. we you'll find out that obviously it comes all out in the wash. So

  199. helps, So help was Gord? Yeah, well, uh so this woman

  200. got here this kind of where my title comes in. You're gonna need him

  201. again. She didn't her and her her and her husband and the child she

  202. she didn't get so called up in in the thing that the Man of God

  203. done for them. She didn't let her blessing become a hindrance. She could

  204. have easily said, when the Man of God comes through, you know what,

  205. man, we just don't have room for the Man of God no more.

  206. Little boy out. I don't know when I read it, I stole

  207. the name of averages man live. That's average room. Now the Man of

  208. God can't have it. We we don't have room for him anymore. God.

  209. But instead they kept the Man of God in their life because they will

  210. in chapter eight. It all you know who benefited more than Elisha didn't necessarily

  211. benefit from them. You know what a lie she got out of the deal.

  212. You got a bed, a table, and a candlestick. You know

  213. how they got returned. They got a son. They got a son raised

  214. from the dead. And then we read on in chap in Uh in chapter

  215. eight, so the king the so elioshep Uh tells the shooting o woman and

  216. her husband and them, Hey, there's a just you might have been passing

  217. through. Good thing they made room for him, and he said, hey,

  218. just the heads up. The lord just told me there's a famine coming

  219. for seven years. You might want to get out of here. So her

  220. and her husband and they don't. They don't speak much about her husband much

  221. after that. So they go to the land of the Philistines for seven years.

  222. And so after the famines passed, they come back and she's head to

  223. speak to the king. They lost everything, They ain't paying their property taxes

  224. in seven years. They took everything from him. So the King of Syria

  225. calls for uh, yeah, hayes I, and he's telling him, tell

  226. me all these things that that Elisha has done, and so he's in the

  227. middle of telling him all these things. He's telling how Elisha went in,

  228. laid upon the child, the child race from the dead, and then all

  229. of a sudden he looks over there and he says, oh, King,

  230. my lord, this is the very woman she's coming. She's been coming to

  231. the king asking for a land back, asking for a house back. That's

  232. why I believe they on that land that they were reaping in. Maybe I

  233. don't, I'm no scholar. But so they come back asking for that.

  234. And one man said that possibly the reason why it took such a great eye

  235. opening for that king, like man, God has his hand on this woman.

  236. Ali, she respects this woman. So maybe because the man that lied

  237. to his captain of the host man's a leopard, that right, has the

  238. leopard standing in front of him, because he lied to this man's And that

  239. woman said that that's possibly why it took such an amazing thing. Because the

  240. king's sitting there on his throne. This guy's gone as a liar, this

  241. guy's going that she becoming him. The so siation with the Man of God.

  242. I got to thinking about what what we're what we're getting in return for

  243. the Man of God. You know what you're giving. You give you an

  244. amen, you're giving me hallelujah. Given the candlestick instead, you get prophet

  245. out of livery. If step God gives you job instead, you get given

  246. line. That's that's the least we can do. Since when is anybody praying

  247. that man a house sin? Since ween anybody ever prayed to him? That's

  248. all. Then, since weeen anybody prophes out over him right here and said,

  249. God's gonna do this for you. God's gonna do that for you.

  250. God's gonna give you this. God's gonna do that instead. If the least

  251. we can do is given amen, the least the hallelujah, And then said,

  252. Lord, get the line. You don't dare to be as like that.

  253. That's the least we can do. I want to say that again.

  254. They elif SHA got out of the deal of candlestick, a bed, a

  255. table, and some bread. They never said anything. They said, he'll

  256. come by often and eat bread. That's the the least we can do is

  257. something small like that for the man of God. In my turn, they

  258. got I don't said it once when I missus spot. They got a child.

  259. They got their child raised from the dead. They got their house back,

  260. they got their land back. And that's not all they got. They

  261. got he said, restore as It as pretty much like if they would have

  262. never left for seven years to it all that. I know, you didn't

  263. just get your land back in them time that because we went through a famine

  264. and you left us, why wouldn't we accept you back. That's what the

  265. King's name. You didn't pay for nothing. You you ain't done nothing for

  266. the community, for their country, nothing. So they took everything. And

  267. if it wasn't that for her being friends with a man of God doing the

  268. right way, they would have they were lost everything. They would have been

  269. homeless, they'd have been paupers. We still need the Man of God,

  270. even after the prophise, he comes to phil That's what I got out of

  271. it. They didn't this woman. She could have simply there's people, we're

  272. not in it for what we can get. She'd done something for the Man

  273. of God and God giving her a child, it would have been real easy

  274. from that point on that they you know, Elisha just passed by. You

  275. know, they ain'tn't open the door. There goes that Man of God.

  276. Help. If they would have told me the altars to die. Let's pray

  277. that we would. We need to realize we'll need the man of God again.

  278. It was when I had this passage of a very scary thought after the

  279. Sandals, assis to realize how much and if I might not have portrayed it

  280. like I felt it, but to me I linked up so so well,

  281. that's great, God go h. Thank God for the preature who told me

  282. hogeez uh, who I be be if not for his bread Lord, he'll

  290. rejoice as he was for you Chelsfield the temple that day. Now, ever,

  292. than he got food. The three who told me of gee, oh,
