  1. Amen. Don't you appreciate the Lord tonight? Amen? Pastor do

  2. you think Brother Nathaniel is out of line? Me? Neither? Amen,

  3. not at all. And I'll tell y'all something. There's a

  4. lot of my messages and my thoughts, and even if

  5. I don't know, I'm gonna preach him if I have

  6. a thought. Me and Brother Nathaniel, we spend about an

  7. hour a day together, thirty minutes to work, thirty minutes back,

  8. sometimes more if if traffic's bad, and a lot of

  9. times it is so. We spend a lot of time

  10. in the car on the week, at least at least

  11. probably seven hours or so. And a lot of times

  12. when I have if I have a thought, or if

  13. i'm in my Bible reading and I have something, you know,

  14. I'll tell him about it and see if what I

  15. think makes sense. Right, I'll just a sounding board. Right, Hey,

  16. does this make sense? You know? Do you get what

  17. out of this? When what I'm getting out of this?

  18. You know what I mean? And I about did that

  19. with this message earlier this week. I guess it would

  20. have been probably Tuesday or Wednesday. I about did that,

  21. and I said, you know what, I'm not going to

  22. I'm gonna I'm I'm gonna wait on this and tonight

  23. I'm I'm so glad I did. Amen, I'm so glad

  24. I didn't say anything to him about what the Lord

  25. had been dealing with me because later on in this message,

  26. and at first you might forget about it. But then

  27. I hope whenever we get to that point, that you'll

  28. remember what the youth pastor just said. Ay Man, I

  29. hope you'll remember that and that'll come back to your remembrance. Amen.

  30. I want to say I appreciate the Lord so very much.

  31. I texted I texted Pastor the other day and I

  32. told you, I'm trying to do my part, Pastor, I'm

  33. trying to pray and I'm not. I don't want to

  34. brag tonight, but I can honestly say that I have

  35. spent I have fasted more meals for this service than

  36. I ever have for a service in my in my

  37. short ministry. Amen. I just felt the Lord push me

  38. that way, and I have fasted plenty before when it

  39. before I preached, but I I wanted a special burden tonight, Amen,

  40. to deliver what God had given me. And uh so

  41. I just I just want to do my part, and

  42. I take my part serious. Amen. And I feel right

  43. now like I have the weight of the world on me.

  44. Amen.

  45. And I feel like that that I've come to this place,

  46. and I bear now from this point on the rest

  47. of the service. Amen. And I will gladly bear this

  48. part of the service. If you will bear, you're part

  49. of the service. Amen. If if you if we in

  50. this altar service tonight, if we will get in and

  51. we feel like we have the weight of the world

  52. on our shoulders. Amen. I appreciate my pastor so very much.

  53. I love him dearly, Amen, the man of God that

  54. he is. Amen. I appreciate Brother Nathaniel on this opportunity.

  55. I'll enjoy this you services, don't y'all? Amen, y'all enjoy

  56. the you services. Amen. I sure do. Y'all know the

  57. nurse free rhyme. Uh, I'm sure most of us have

  58. heard it. One. Two, buckle my shoe, three four, close

  59. the door, five six pick up sticks, seven eight, lay

  60. them straight, nine ten begin again. Amen. And I wanted

  61. to preach for some time on number five and six. Amen.

  62. I wanted to preach on five six pick up sticks. Amen.

  63. And Brother Jeremiah, I'll leave this up to you. Amen.

  64. That's my title. That's what I've been wanted. And I

  65. had forgot about that title that I had gotten. I

  66. told my wife, I said, Man, I want to preach

  67. on five sticks pick up sticks at one of these

  68. youth services. Amen. And I had forgot that I had

  69. that wrote down on my phone somewhere. And the Lord

  70. began to deal with me about this. And I'm sure

  71. you think about that little little part of the nursery

  72. rhyme most of the Bible readers. Amen. There's a passage

  73. of scriptures that would jump out at you real quick, amen.

  74. And that's the Old Widow and Zerah Fath Amen. So

  75. I thought about five six pick up sticks, amen. But

  76. then I also felt like using a handful of meal. Amen,

  77. a handful of meal, Brother Jeremiah. Leave that up to you, amen.

  78. But I do want the Lord to help us tonight. Amen.

  79. I appreciate what Brother Philip said, and I don't want

  80. to take up too much time, but I appreciate what

  81. brother Philip said and when he was when he was

  82. preach on that or testifying exhorting on that. Uh. He

  83. mentioned about how Stephen could have lost his whole testimony

  84. over one bad action, and my mind instantly went. He

  85. mentioned something about Paul standing there, and if I'm not mistaken,

  86. Paul was holding the coat, wasn't he didn't he say,

  87. all held the coat there? And I watched Stephen and

  88. and you know there's later on in Paul's ministry. I

  89. believe he took he took, uh. He he remembered what

  90. Stephen had done. Amen. And he remembered how Stephen acted

  91. whenever they stoned him and in that prison Amen, when

  92. he was being beaten. Amen. And I know we've heard

  93. it preach before. The Philippian jailer probably never would have

  94. been saved if Paul would have acted out. Amen. And

  95. I believe that Stephen was an example to the apostle

  96. Paul and how to act in hard times and how

  97. to handle situations. And I just thank the Lord that

  98. he puts people in our lives, Amen, and to live

  99. the life before us and show us how we should

  100. do things and how we should act and how we

  101. should treat things.

  102. And you know the rest is.

  103. Up to us.

  104. Amen.

  105. It was on Paul that day Stephen showed him to

  106. And I love that brother, Philip, and I don't want

  107. to repreach that message, Amen, or that thought. Amen, help

  108. me here tonight for just a little while. I'm gonna

  109. try to be sure. We'll see how the Lord leads tonight.

  110. First King's Chapter number seventeen. First King's Chapter number seventeen.

  111. We're gonna start reading there in verse number eight, And

  112. the word of the Lord came unto him. This is

  113. Elijah that we're talking about. The word of the Lord

  114. came unto him, saying, arise, get thee to Arafath, which

  115. belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded

  116. a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose

  117. and went to Zerafath. And when he came to the

  118. gate of the city, behold the widow woman was there,

  119. gathering of sticks. And he called to her and said,

  120. fetch me, I pray thee a little water in a

  121. vessel that I may drink. And as she was going

  122. to fetch it, he called to her and said, bring me,

  123. I pray THEE a morsel of bread in thine hand.

  124. And she said, as the Lord, thy God liveth I

  125. have not a cake, but a handful of meal in

  126. a barrel, and a little oil in a cruise, and behold,

  127. I am gathering two sticks that I may go in

  128. and dress it for me and my sons, that we

  129. may eat it. And would you lift your hands to

  130. heaven and ask the Lord to help us.

  131. So much for you.

  132. And your kindness. Speak to someone tonight, Lord, that you

  133. would move on us.

  134. God, that you would anort the lips of my mouth.

  135. God, God, that you would help us tonight to say

  136. something to help someone.

  137. God, help us to take a hold of.

  138. The words of God and the words of truth and

  139. apply them to our life. And we will give you

  140. all the praise, all the glory in the honor we

  141. pray in Jesus' name. Amen, and Amen, thank you, Brother Samuel. Amen.

  142. Only seven verses prior to our text, we are introduced

  143. to a man that was and still is today loved

  144. by many. Not only though as he loved and admired,

  145. he is also despised and hated. Amenon, Brother Philip was

  146. talking about Stephen there, and I'm sure there was many

  147. many of the early Church that adored Stephen and that

  148. loved Stephen with all of their heart. And but on

  149. the flip side of that, it's it seems like such

  150. is always the case with genuine men of God. Amen,

  151. and Elijah here was no different. He is loved by

  152. many for his truth. He is loved by many for

  153. his stand, but at the same time there are just

  154. as many that despise and hate them.

  155. Amen.

  156. Elijah was his name, Jehovah is his God. Truth is

  157. in his mouth. He fears no king or queen, and

  158. he hated no pauper or widow. Amen. Elijah's biblical ministry

  159. begins with the promise of a famine upon Israel. And

  160. that's that's just the first seven verses of Chapter number seventeen.

  161. Elijah walks on the scene of scripture. Amen, as this

  162. man of God that is pronouncing of famine upon Israel,

  163. And the Bible says, there' gonna give a short little

  164. uh uh foundation here. But the Bible says that right

  165. after Elijah warns Ahab of the famine. Amen, that is

  166. on the horizon a uh. Elijah tells Ahab, there's a

  167. famine coming. Amen, there's a land of dry there's a

  168. there's a time of dry and and a time of

  169. lack of food and water. As soon as God, as

  170. soon as God is done with Elijah.

  171. There in Ahab's presence.

  172. God sends the man of God on a journey and

  173. he tells him to go to Cherith.

  174. And we know the story so well.

  175. And one of my favorite times that uh that one

  176. of my favorite things that I guess our pastors has

  177. ever talked about is whenever he talked about when the

  178. brook dried up. Amen, And I think about it often

  179. and I just love that. And and realizing God's divine providence, Amen,

  180. that he would send Elijah to Cherith. That don't mean

  181. God send him to Cherith. It don't mean God missed

  182. it when he sent him to Cherith. Now that the

  183. brook is dried up, that don't mean that God missed

  184. whenever he told Elijah to go to Cherif that God Chareth,

  185. that don't.

  186. Mean God got it wrong.

  187. That just means that Elijah's time at Cherith was expired.

  188. Amen. It just means that what God.

  189. Was gonna do for Elijah at that time, now it

  190. is expired. And now God sends him to a Zarafath. Amen.

  191. And in my studies, I realized that uh Zarahfath is

  192. a eighty The scholars say eighty five to one hundred

  193. miles from Cherith. That's a hall for someone on foot, Amen,

  194. that's a hall. Even if you're riding horseback or donkey back,

  195. that's a ride. And that's a hall. Eighty five to

  196. one hundred miles. Elijah had to pick up from Cherith

  197. where God wanted him, heymen, where God.

  198. Had sent him at first.

  199. And he said, you're done here, and now I want

  200. you to go eighty five miles on them two feet

  201. I gave you, or on them four legs that I

  202. provided for you by that donkey, and I want you to.

  203. Go to Zarafath.

  204. Amen. Now that the brook has dried up, we intersect

  205. our texts tonight. Amen, notice with me the geographic location

  206. to which God sent Elijah verse number nine of the text.

  207. God tells Elijah, arise, get thee to Zarafath. And in

  208. my study I found it most interesting, Amen, that this,

  209. this town Zeraphath, was not within the realm of Israel. Amen,

  210. This was not one of one of the Israelites towns.

  211. In fact, this was the land the Bible tells us

  212. there in Ziden.

  213. Amen, And it was.

  214. And there's and I forgot the name of the king,

  215. but there's a whole nother king and that ruled the

  216. Zidonians at this time. Amen. And so God sends him

  217. up out of each Israel, and he sends them to

  218. this land. Amen of the Pagans. If you will, amen,

  219. this land, and you think you remember Jezebel, And I'm man,

  220. I'm making this sermon longer than I had planned already

  221. because I'm not in my notes. But if you remember, Amen,

  222. if you remember, Jezebel was from Zidon, pray man, from

  223. the realm, the realm of Ziden.

  224. Amen.

  225. And Jezebel Amen, was just really deep in the gods

  226. of that Lamb.

  227. Amen. And she was just a really wicked person.

  228. And I'm sure Amen, that she learned most of that

  229. from that evil king that was her father.

  230. Amen.

  231. Jezebel's father was the king of Thezidonians.

  232. Amen. And Ahab had married that woman. Amen.

  233. And we can look at Jezebel's life and we can

  234. tell that Jezebel was no woman of God.

  235. Amen.

  236. So why did God send Elijah up out of Israel? Amen?

  237. Why did God send Elijah up out of that place?

  238. Amen?

  239. He probably figured he would always minister there. But let

  240. me tell you this, whenever God sent Elijah away from

  241. the Israelites, Elijah became the first prophet within the sacred

  242. rit Amen to go into the gentiles. Amen. Elijah became

  243. the first man of God that God sent divine direction

  244. into his life.

  245. And he said, I want you to go to that country.

  246. Hey.

  247. I want you to minister in their streets, aymen.

  248. And I want you to minister up and down their walkways, Amen,

  249. in their highways and in their headges aymen.

  250. Elijah was the first man.

  251. That God ever sent outside of Israel and said, go

  252. minister to them gentiles. Amen. In Luke chapter number four.

  253. And I won't flip there for the sake of time,

  254. But Jesus is speaking concerning the prophets in their hometowns. Amen.

  255. You remember that dialogue there where Jesus his talking. He said,

  256. a prophet have noth on her, and he goes into

  257. these details, and Jesus he mentions Elijah in that portion

  258. of text, and he mentions this very text, and he

  259. mentions this very thing. Amen. He said there, and I'm

  260. not quoting verbatim, but he mentions how that Elijah wasn't

  261. sent to a widow in Israel. And Jesus said, it's

  262. not because there wasn't widows there it's not because that

  263. there wasn't many widows in the land of Israel at

  264. this time that he could have used to sustain Elijah.

  265. But still he sends him outside. Amen. So it bears in.

  266. My mind, Amen, that God, from the beginning of time, Amen,

  267. has cared about those that some people feel like they're

  268. not worth nothing. Amen. God reminds them again. Jesus reminds

  269. him when he's walking his shoe leather, reminds him, don't forget, Amen,

  270. that I sent Elijah into a gentile lamb. Don't forget

  271. that I said Elijah into a place that most people

  272. fell like they were useless, They felt like they were

  273. worth nothing. Ay Man, he tells them, I sent Elijah

  274. into Sirreptha is how the Lord How. It's recorded there

  275. in the book of Luke Amen. But it is known

  276. as Zarafath in the book of Kings. Amen.

  277. It is the same town. Amen.

  278. But after the divine direction that Elijah receives, Elijah takes

  279. up his abode and he leaves the brook that is

  280. now dry, Amen, that place that sustained him. He leaves

  281. the brook and he begins to make his journey from

  282. Cherith to Zarafath.

  283. Now the bid.

  284. He said, when he came into the gate of the city,

  285. he saw the widow that was commanded to take care

  286. of him, Amen, that was commanded to sustain him. Amen.

  287. And when he comes there to the city gates, he

  288. sees this widow woman and she's gathering sticks. Amen. The

  289. famine now And you can read in the Book of

  290. Luke the same chapter we mentioned earlier, in chapter number

  291. twenty five, in the same passage there, Jesus when he

  292. was speaking there, he said that the famine had spread

  293. throughout all the land. Amen. So it was if it

  294. started out in Israel, it is now not only Israel, Amen,

  295. but it's branched out and it's become great. And now

  296. these Idonians Amen, are facing the same famine. Amen. So

  297. when Elijah gets there, and I have a thinky suspicion

  298. that Elijah knew that it wasn't just Israel that was

  299. being famined, Amen, because I just know how God talks to.

  300. His his men, Amen.

  301. And I'm sure that God had just you know, whispered

  302. down in the bottom of Elijah's heart and said, you know,

  303. don't expect a bount to for harvest when you get

  304. to Zarafath Amen. They're having it just like this, And

  305. Elijah would have knew the fact that he's sending to

  306. a widow anyways. Amen, was just a sign that God

  307. was gonna perform perform a miracle, Amen, that God was

  308. gonna do a miracle in his life. Aymen. I have

  309. no doubt in my mind that by now Elijah is

  310. worn out from his journey.

  311. Amen.

  312. He's been traveling for some time, for several days, I'm sure, Amen.

  313. And I know sometimes that the travel can get hard, Amen.

  314. And we can get tired on the travel, and we

  315. can get tired on the journey. But Elijah kept his

  316. face set like a flint, and he said, God told

  317. me to go to Zerapath, and I'm going to Zarafath.

  318. God put it in my heart to go to Zarafath,

  319. and that's where I'm headed, and that's where there I'm going.

  320. Amen.

  321. I can only imagine the relief Amen, that Elijah felt

  322. whenever he come to the city gate.

  323. Amen.

  324. He didn't even get in the city yet, and God said,

  325. there she is. Amen. He didn't even get all the

  326. way there, Amen. And God put that little woman right

  327. in front of him.

  328. Amen.

  329. And she's down there gathering sticks and she's not gathering

  330. many sticks.

  331. Amen.

  332. Later on in the Bible, she said, I'm just gathering

  333. two sticks. All I need is too little sticks. Amen,

  334. She's just gathering the little sticks. And and uh, I

  335. imagine Elijah was pretty excited when he's seen this widow

  336. woman there gathering sticks. And he realized that I don't

  337. have to go door to door and say, does it

  338. widow live here? Right? And then walk down the next street,

  339. Hey does it? We don't live here, amen, or see

  340. a beggar on the side of the road and said, hey,

  341. where does a widow live around here? Amen?

  342. Where's that woman? Or where's that promise that God sent me?

  343. Ay? Man, Elijah didn't have to go looking for that

  344. promise because when he got to where God wanted him, Amen,

  345. when he got in the place that God wanted him, Amen,

  346. the promise was right in front of him. Amen. The

  347. widow was right in front of him whenever he really

  348. made it, when he finally made it to his destination, Amen,

  349. God had put that little lady right there in front

  350. of him, and she's just waiting on him. Amen. There

  351. are a lot of people, and there's a lot of

  352. young people tonight, and I'm trying to preach to young

  353. people tonight.

  354. Amen.

  355. There's a lot of young people that are wondering, why

  356. can't I find what I'm looking for?

  357. Amen?

  358. Why can't I find the thing that I've set out

  359. and I've started a journey, And why can't I find

  360. what I'm looking for? Why can't I get a hold

  361. of what I know I should have? Aymen? Why can't

  362. I really get rid of those addictions? Amen?

  363. And I know we shouldn't have addictions.

  364. Amen. There should be no of none of our young

  365. people they met to have addictions. And I'm not saying

  366. we do, Amen, But I'm not saying we don't tonight. Amen.

  367. But people wonder, why can't I get rid of this

  368. thought process? Amen? Why can't I get rid of thinking

  369. like this? Why can't I stop acting like this? Well,

  370. if you want to be where God wants you to be,

  371. if you want to get where God wants you to get,

  372. then you must get in the place that he wants

  373. you to get. Too many people they want to do

  374. it their way, and they try their way over and

  375. over and over and over again, and they try and

  376. they try and they try, and they never get over

  377. the issue. They never find the promise fulfilled in their life,

  378. and they wonder, why can't I get over this? Why

  379. can't I beat this? Why can't I Why can't I

  380. I get what God wants me to get? Amen? Why

  381. can't I get the promise that the pastor has promised?

  382. Sight over me?

  383. Heymen? Why can't I get there? Well, that's because you're

  384. stopping at every town. Amen. You're stopping it every end.

  385. You're stopping it every little cutoff road. You've gotta go

  386. all the way to Zarahphath. Amen. Elijah would have wasted

  387. time if he were stopped at every town between Sheriff

  388. and zarah Fath looking for a widow. We waste too

  389. much time looking for things before we're in the right

  390. place to look for those things. Amen, I don't thank

  391. Elijah went door to door for eighty five miles, just

  392. hoping that he'd come across the widow. The hat too,

  393. too sticks and a little bit of meal to hold

  394. him over. Elijah knew, I've gotta go to Xerophath. I've

  395. gotta make the journey. I've gotta make the trip if

  396. I'm gonna find her. Hey Man, I've gotta get my

  397. things in order. If I'm gonna find the promise if

  398. I'm gonna get to that place. She was out the

  399. city gate. Elijah's journey was complete.

  400. Amen. God had brought him safely there.

  401. Amen.

  402. And it was not for lack of effort on his part. Amen.

  403. And half the luxury Hell, I believe it was Philip.

  404. Amen.

  405. Wasn't it Philip that got teleported?

  406. Amen?

  407. I don't think God teleported Elijah. Amen.

  408. It took some doing, Amen. It took some walking, Amen.

  409. And it took some praying. I'm sure Amen. It took

  410. some provision from God. Amen. But Elijah makes it there.

  411. And I'm trying to get to my text quickly. I'm

  412. trying to get to my point quickly. She was at

  413. the city gate and Elishah, Elijah, rather, his journey was completed.

  414. Elijah could have questioned, and he could have asked God,

  415. why did it have to be some eighty miles or

  416. or why did it have to be one hundred miles?

  417. Amen?

  418. They estimate between. I've already said it eighty five to

  419. one hundred miles. But Elijah could have sat there and

  420. Jesus himself said, there's plenty of widows in Israel. Amen.

  421. Elijah could have said, God, couldn't you use this one? Amen?

  422. Couldn't you do it this way? Or couldn't you do

  423. it this way? Amen? Would elied you. I don't believe,

  424. and we don't find it in this Holy writ where

  425. he questioned God one time. He just said, God, that's

  426. where you want me to go. That's where I'm going. Aymen,

  427. that's how you want me to do it. But that's

  428. how I'm doing it. Amen.

  429. I can't come in the other way.

  430. Amen. I find myself a robber. Amen, I find myself

  431. a transgressor if I try to get in any other way.

  432. But I've got to go the way God said, and

  433. I've got to walk the path God said to walk.

  434. You might as well settle it in your mind and

  435. settle it in your heart, and accept the will of God,

  436. and accept the plan of God, and just go ahead

  437. and do it God's way. When Elijah comes to the city,

  438. he sees this widow, and the first thing that our

  439. text records Elijah doing when he sees this woman is

  440. a command. Amen.

  441. I don't know if they had some greetings or not.

  442. Amen. This woman more than likely was not a follower Jehovah.

  443. I don't know Amen. I have zero Bible to believe

  444. that she was, and I have zero Bible to believe

  445. that she wasn't. Amen. But if you look at her culture, Amen,

  446. and if you look in the place where she lived, Aymen,

  447. there's a good chance that this woman was not Amen.

  448. There's a good chance that she didn't fear the Lord.

  449. And I read in the text Amen, And I didn't

  450. write it down, but I just remember right now from

  451. reading this text over and over and over and over

  452. again getting ready for tonight. When she addresses Elijah, she says,

  453. the Lord thy God.

  454. Amen. She didn't say as the Lord liveth Amen.

  455. She didn't say ask the Lord my God or as

  456. the Lord our God.

  457. But she said as the Lord thy God.

  458. Amen.

  459. So I just tend to think that this woman didn't.

  460. Really follow Jehovah Amen, like Elijah did. Amen. Amen. So

  461. So when Elijah here comes to this woman, I don't know.

  462. I mean, they had some kind of either either Elijah

  463. had a reputation that preceded him, or Elijah introduced himself

  464. and said, I'm the one that you heard that voice

  465. word God said, I've commanded a widow woman there to

  466. sustain thee Amen. Maybe Elijah went up to that little

  467. lady and said, you that little voice that you heard, Amen,

  468. that you just kind of wrote it off, and you

  469. were like, man, that was a little strange, that was

  470. a little different.

  471. Amen.

  472. Maybe Elijah introduced himself and said, I am that man

  473. that you've been expecting. Amen. I am that prophet Amen

  474. that you've been expecting. Amen. And Elijah there and recorded

  475. in scripture. Amen, and that's Jesse Howell commentarian.

  476. Amen. That's free, it's not even it's not worth money.

  477. Amen. But the first thing that Elijah does is a

  478. command this woman. And you know what he said, fetch

  479. me a little water in a vessel. Amen, just go

  480. get me a little something to drink.

  481. Amen.

  482. The Man of God needed a little bit of water.

  483. And I see no verbal reply from this woman. Amen.

  484. I see no verbal answer to a I just question.

  485. When the Man of God said, get me a little

  486. bit of water. I'm thirsty. I need something to drink, Amen,

  487. and bring me something to drink it out of Amen,

  488. pour me a little bit of water and bring me

  489. a little something to drink. Amen. I see no verbal

  490. reply to his request, but we find note of her

  491. action in verse number eleven. Amen, no verbal reply was

  492. given that was worth writing in scripture. But the little

  493. woman turned on her heels and she went to get

  494. the Man of God a glass of water. Amen. She

  495. gets went to get Elijah a little water. Elijah asked

  496. for a little bit of water in a vessel. Amen.

  497. She turns around and she goes in verse number eleven Amen,

  498. directly after the request, she turns and she goes, Amen.

  499. And here is where I just want to spend just

  500. a few more minutes tonight, and I wanna try to

  501. talk to some young people tonight. Amen.

  502. Elijah requested a little bit of water.

  503. Amen. He told this widow, go get me a little

  504. bit of water. And I see here a willingness like

  505. that of Rebeccah. Whenever Abraham's servant said, give me a

  506. little drink of your pitcher, Hey man, this woman was

  507. Johnny on the spot. Amen. She said, you want a

  508. little bit of water, Well, I'm gonna get you a

  509. little bit of water. Amen. And she reminded me in

  510. study of Rebecca. Amen, whenever God Abraham's servant said give

  511. me a little bit of water from your picture, old

  512. Rebeccah was just so ecstatic him.

  513. And she was so willing.

  514. She said, I'll give you water, and I'm gonna give

  515. your camels water. And I'm not just gonna give him

  516. a little bit, Amen, I'm going to feed them until

  517. they can't drink no more. Hey man, I'm gonna give

  518. them all they can. Hey man, Them camels are gonna

  519. walk away, amen, with fool bellies of water because I

  520. have a willingness to give the man some water. Amen.

  521. You don't have to say no more. I've got you,

  522. ay man, I'll take care of you. You need a

  523. little bit of water, then I'm on it. Amen.

  524. It's your wish is my command. But picture with me.

  525. And this is what came to me as I was reading.

  526. Elijah tells her I need a little bit of water.

  527. She turns to go get a water, and as she's

  528. walking away, the Man of God speaks, it's there in

  529. the text.

  530. I'll read it again.

  531. And that and arise get the axera fath till he

  532. rose and verse number eleven. As she was going to

  533. fetch it, she had not fetched it yet. Amen. She

  534. was on her way to go get the water, and

  535. the Man of God stopped her in her tracks. Hey miss,

  536. I'm very thirsty and I see your willingness to give

  537. me a little water. I see your your lack of hesitation.

  538. Whenever you asked for a little glass of water, Amen,

  539. Elijah said, bring me some bread. Don't stop with the water.

  540. I'll take some bread too. I'm mighty hungry. And God

  541. said you would sustain me. And now I'm looking for

  542. what you've got. Amen. Now I'm looking for that thing

  543. that God promised me would be here when I got here. Amen.

  544. Now I'm looking for that bread. Amen. That's sustaining Life's

  545. giving bread. That's what I really need. Amen.

  546. No hesitation in the water at all.

  547. And I'm telling you tonight it's not my desire to

  548. cast shade on this wonderful widow. Amen.

  549. I don't want to throw any shade tonight.

  550. Amen. Or making this woman look like the bad lady amen,

  551. or look like somebody she was not. Amen.

  552. But whenever the man of God asked.

  553. For a little bit of bread to go with the water,

  554. you can read it there there's a little hesitation. Oh

  555. you want the water, I got you. I'm trying on

  556. the spot. Amen, I've got you covered. Amen. Say no more.

  557. Nowadays they say say less, Amen, you want some water,

  558. Say less? I got you, I got you a glass

  559. of water coming. But Man of God, don't ask me

  560. for no bread. Aymen, don't ask me for what I

  561. feel like I really need. Amen, don't ask me for

  562. what I feel like I'm really counting on. Amen. This

  563. is where my burden is. Amen. I sensed in this

  564. text just a little bit of hesitation in this woman's answer,

  565. and in this woman's reply with the Man of God

  566. said go a little further, to a little extra a man,

  567. there's a little hesitation in her voice. Now she's got

  568. a long list of why she can't. Now she's got

  569. a long list of why what she's God ain't enough.

  570. I love this story. I love this woman. I love

  571. anybody that's willing to take care of the Man of God. Amen.

  572. So I don't despise this woman. But there's far too

  573. many people. There's far too many other people. I assure you,

  574. I ain't got this down of no notebook, ain't been

  575. out of no website. This came straight from God, and

  576. I fasted, and I am afraid that God would help

  577. somebody be willing to break the bread. God needs somebody

  578. that's willing to go the extra mile. God needs somebody

  579. to bring more than just what's easy. It's easy to

  580. pour a glass of water. I had thirds right down

  581. to dump that out on the floor. It's easy to

  582. pour a little bit of water. It's easy to raise

  583. your hand, it's easy to blend in. But what about

  584. the bread. I've probably fasted more than most of you

  585. in this building tonight, say brother how and.

  586. The brother Nathaniel over this service.

  587. That all want to be. That's because you're not willing

  588. to bring the bread. You do want to do what's easy.

  589. You want a portland of it, a wire, Thank you,

  590. Brother Samuel. God knew I wouldn't need it. I don't

  591. need a wire. I need the bread. The pastor don't

  592. need the water. He needs the bread. He needs you

  593. to get willing at all cost. That woman said, as

  594. the Lord liveth I've got a long line of excuses.

  595. Ask the Lord lives This is why I.

  596. Don't need to do that. Lord dealt with me on

  597. this tonight. Get a little vessel, get a little water.

  598. You know what that tells me when I risten to

  599. her response, and I've lost my spot in my notes

  600. now I'll probably find them in a little bit. But

  601. something tells me when I read this text that she

  602. had a little more water there. She didn't meal. Amen.

  603. Some tells me that her water supply wasn't quite as.

  604. Scarce as her meal supply.

  605. The water wasn't quite as scarce at the oil, because

  606. when God asked for the oil, and when God asked

  607. for the bread, that's where she said, Oh hold up,

  608. oh wait. And I tell you I've never heard I've

  609. never heard this story. Amen. I've never heard this widow

  610. woman preach like this, heymen. And I got this while

  611. I was reading this word of God right here, hey man.

  612. I consulted one commentary, and I can tell you what

  613. I got out of it. I've already said it. You

  614. know what I got out of it. I'll go ahead

  615. and tell you. The rest of this came straight from God.

  616. I'll tell you when I got out of it. Elijah

  617. was the first prophet to go to the Gentiles. That's

  618. what I got out of it. And I loved it,

  619. hey man. And I thought it was beautiful. But the

  620. rest of this I got on my knees. The rest

  621. of this I got it break time when I went

  622. up in the upper law for the inventory garage, and

  623. I flayed before God and now before God, and I said, God,

  624. we need help. God. We've got a few people that

  625. don't want to bring the bread. God, We've got a

  626. few young people that are They want to bring the water,

  627. They want to bring the water, but they don't want

  628. to bring the bread. I know several people, not just

  629. here tonight. I know several young people, and I know

  630. several middle aged people. And that's the age bracket that

  631. I would have preached tonight too. Michael, you're not too young.

  632. I'm preaching to you, boy. I'm preaching the young people.

  633. If that boy right there don't learn how to give

  634. the bread, he likes to give the water alongside mom

  635. and dad. Hey man, when dad's looking at the bed

  636. at the couch saying a prayer, he likes to come

  637. beside me. It's snuggle up there beside me, start praying

  638. the very words the dad's praying. Amen. I say something,

  639. and then I hear them say it, and then I

  640. say it something else, and I'll pause because I know

  641. they're learning. I pray, they're learning how to bring the bread. Amen.

  642. They're learning how to offer the oil. They're learning how

  643. to offer what God give them. Amen.

  644. So I wait until they say that.

  645. And you know, when I realize that they're doing that,

  646. there's a lot of time that my vocabulary changes. Amen.

  647. I start praying words that they'll understand. Amen, And I

  648. start saying things like, God, I don't want to go

  649. to hell. God, I want to be saved, and I'll

  650. hear it on Malachi, God, I want to be saved,

  651. and I hear my God, I don't want to go

  652. to Hell.

  653. I want them to bring the bread, not only the water.

  654. Pastor. If I'm out a line that's bothered me, I'm sorry.

  655. There are certain young people within our youth group and

  656. across this world that I can look at your lives

  657. and I still pray that God helps me bring the bread.

  658. I pray that God. I prayed it more studying this message, Amen,

  659. And I realized it more studying this message, then I

  660. probably ever have that. I've got to bring the bread too,

  661. Hey man, I've got to be willing to give God

  662. what he desires to.

  663. Amen.

  664. But there's a few people, there's a few young men

  665. and a few young ladies.

  666. In this church.

  667. They're willing to do so much. They're willing to go

  668. so far before they reach that cutoff. They're willing to

  669. do so much before they reach that hesitation, hey man.

  670. And you can sense it in their praise, and you

  671. can sense it in that worship.

  672. Then you can sense it in.

  673. Their repentance, hey man, when they reach that point and

  674. they say, God, if you want the water, I'll bring

  675. the water. But God, don't ask no more of me,

  676. because I'm counting on this.

  677. I really want to keep this for myself, hey.

  678. Man, I really want to keep this back because I

  679. feel like I need it and I feel like I

  680. want it.

  681. There's a lot of people.

  682. That as long as it's just a little bit of water,

  683. As long as it's a little bit of water, we're good.

  684. As long as it's a little bit of water in

  685. a vessel, we're good. But pastor, preacher, don't ask much

  686. more of me, or I'll give you a verse number

  687. twelve attitude. I feel like the Lord gave me that. Pastor,

  688. don't ask too much more of me, or I'll stand

  689. over here and I'll give you a verse number twelve attitude, like,

  690. are you serious? You except that from me? I'll give

  691. you a verse number twelve tongue lashing.

  692. You better not.

  693. I ain't saying nobody did or would even have the

  694. guts to do it.

  695. But you better not.

  696. You better not cough for verse number twelve attitude, Well,

  697. I can't do that because of this. I don't think

  698. I should do that. Because of this. I don't think

  699. you should ask for that. I don't think you should

  700. expect that from me. Oh, yes, he should. God send

  701. him there to get it out of you, God said,

  702. Elijah put that little widow to any her last cake.

  703. God sent Elijah to that place.

  704. To get the last little bit that that widow was

  705. holding on to. God sent a man of God to

  706. push us to a point where we get the last

  707. little bit of hindrance, the last little bit of hesitation,

  708. and he pulls it out of us. Will you let

  709. the man of God pull it out of you? Will

  710. you give it you God? Mm.

  711. When the preacher gets where you live, when it gets

  712. on your.

  713. Little meal barrel, your little handful of meal, when it

  714. gets where you at, y'all like that talk, when you

  715. get right there where you at, when he comes down.

  716. My road, when it comes down your road.

  717. And he asked for a little more, and he asked

  718. for something a little different. Amen. There's a lot of

  719. people that when the pastor or the preacher does that,

  720. they start acting different, their attitude changes, They start treating

  721. people a little different.

  722. That widow.

  723. I'm telling you it's in there. Read it with an

  724. open mind. That widow treated Elisha Elijah just a little

  725. bit different. Whenever he asked for her meal. You know,

  726. that was like, I don't know the technical name. It

  727. wasn't a seven course meal. It wasn't a plate of food.

  728. It was like some flour or something. Would that be right, Mama? Yeah,

  729. a meal like a corn meal or something, just a

  730. little ingredients to make a little bread or something. It

  731. wasn't a plate of food with a steak and potatoes. Amen,

  732. Carnea sight on Papa's Amen, steak of potatoes. Vie for

  733. knows what that is. That's Mexican. I'm turning into the

  734. one they tell me. They told me they're gonna name

  735. me a Jose instead of Jesse. Amen. I work with

  736. a bunch of them, and I love them. Amen. I'm

  737. trying to lead them to God. Amen. A lot of

  738. them are willing to bring the water. They like to

  739. go to church. They tell me every week about their

  740. church and how the service was, and oh that they

  741. like to bring the water. But when it comes to

  742. giving more, and it comes to giving what God really

  743. requires of them, when it comes to giving until it

  744. hurts them, aymen, and when it comes to changing their lifestyle, heymen,

  745. this meal had the potential to change this woman's life.

  746. She could have gave it away, and a lot of

  747. them aren't willing to risk it.

  748. So thought he said something about that.

  749. I'm trying to remember. When the preacher gets where you live,

  750. some people they start acting a little different. You've got

  751. something to say, Like this little widow woman, she really

  752. thought she knew something Elijah didn't. Wow, you're gonna tell

  753. the man of God something he don't already know. You're

  754. gonna tell the man of God something that God hadn't

  755. already told him, this little widow woman told Elijah. And

  756. if I've said Alisha, I'm sorry, But this little widow

  757. woman felt like she told Elijah a little She told

  758. him a line.

  759. She spelled it out for him.

  760. Well, Elisha, Elijah, look, I've only got so much meal,

  761. I've only got so much oil. And you know those

  762. two little sticks that I was gathering whenever you came up,

  763. well that was me getting the stuff and the supplies

  764. to cook my little boy his last meal. I'll tell

  765. you you'll do a lot better for yourself and for your

  766. families if you'll give the bread. If you don't give

  767. the bread, If you don't offer the bread, it will

  768. be your last meal. Amen. I don't think that widow

  769. woman would have made it a few more days if

  770. she would have refused Elijah that meal.

  771. We can't afford.

  772. Not to give it. We can't afford our little babies,

  773. can't afford that little boy. Couldn't afford for mama not

  774. to give that little handful of meal.

  775. She said, that's all I've got, baby boy, brother.

  776. Jonathan, And you know this, And I appreciate that he

  777. can't afford for us not to give that meal. He

  778. can't afford for us not to make that cake. That God,

  779. it's requiring of us. And I speak parabolically, Amen. And

  780. we should all know that. Amen. Most of us grew

  781. up in church, Pentecostal church, and we know, Amen, it's

  782. easy to bring the water. And I know us sound

  783. like a broken record, But what about when the man

  784. of God gets down to where we know that it'll

  785. cost us something I already said. I think she had

  786. more water than she did meal. So I don't think

  787. the water would have costed her much.

  788. Amen.

  789. I don't think she felt like she was out much

  790. if she just gave a little bit of water to

  791. the Man of God, if God just required a little

  792. bit of water. But how do we act and what's

  793. our attitude? Whenever God asked to go a little further?

  794. When God asks us to get a little better, when

  795. God asks us to give a little more. There's a

  796. song I believe the wilds Cover sing says, give a

  797. little more. Then you're wanting to go beyond what's comfortable

  798. for you. Amen.

  799. That's a hard part.

  800. That's a hard place for a lot of people.

  801. Amen.

  802. But how do we act? What's our attitude? What's our

  803. reaction when the Man of God tells us where we're at,

  804. and he tells us, I know what it's gonna cost you.

  805. We talked to our youth for just a few more paragraphs.

  806. If we get upset when the pastor admonishes us, amen,

  807. or pushes people we love. If we get upset whenever

  808. the pastor pushes the people that we love into giving

  809. a little more. If we get upset and we change

  810. our attitude whenever the pastor pushes the people we love

  811. into giving a little more than just water. The Lord

  812. will I feel like the Lord wanted me to tell

  813. you this. If you're unmarried, don't get married. If you

  814. get upset when God deals with people you love and

  815. God pushes people you love to do better and give

  816. a little more, don't have children. Please, I'm begging you, please,

  817. don't bring little babies into this world, because they're gonna

  818. need a man of God to get where they're at.

  819. There gonna need a pastor to get right where they're

  820. at and talk to them and tell them what God

  821. said and encourage them to give a little more. Don't

  822. you get a wife and bring beautiful little children into

  823. this world if you can't allow them to be preached

  824. to by the Man of.

  825. God and be talked to by the Man of God.

  826. If you add two changes, that little baby will die,

  827. that wife will die.

  828. I beg you don't do it if you can't handle it.

  829. When God deals with a little nephew, When God deals

  830. with a little niece.

  831. That you love, or a.

  832. Mother or a father, or a brother or a sister,

  833. and you can't stand to see the pastor ge't where

  834. they're at I'm telling you, you'll love them babies more.

  835. You'll love that wife more. God designed it that way.

  836. If you love those nephews too much to let God

  837. deal with them, you love them babies too much to

  838. let God deal with them. And the devil has a twisted,

  839. dimited form of love. Because if you don't allow them

  840. to give the Man of God the bread, if you

  841. don't allow them to give the extra and allow Elijah

  842. to demand the widow give a little more, then your

  843. babies will die. That wife will die. If you can't

  844. stand to see Elijah say, give me some bread, give

  845. me a little more. I need a little more, Give

  846. a little more. I ain't missing it. I'm not mad tonight,

  847. and I'm not mean, but somebody needs to get their

  848. attitude in check. When the Man of God says, give

  849. a little more. When the Man of God said, go

  850. a little further, walk a little further, do a little extra.

  851. It's for your good, pastor is for our joy. Within

  852. a woman, it's for your good. With a woman's son,

  853. it's for your good. We can't afford, we can't do it.

  854. We can't afford to have a Verse number twelve attitude

  855. with the man of God like this widow.

  856. Woman did.

  857. And give a long list of reasons why. I know,

  858. bringing the bread, I need to put a little more

  859. work in, beautiful wife. What's easier pouring a glass of

  860. water or baking a loaf of bread? Pouring a glass

  861. of water. I know that Elijah knows that, the Man

  862. of God knows that it's easier just to give a

  863. little water. But sometimes it takes more than just giving

  864. a little bit of water. What about when God wants

  865. to stretch you? What about when God wants to take

  866. that bucket a meal and stretch it? What about when

  867. God wants to take that and he wants to take

  868. that from you and give you all this. I'm out

  869. of time, and I'm out of my notes too. At

  870. what point in our lives can we stand this evening?

  871. I'm done? At what point in our life do we

  872. begin to hesitate when God begins to require more?

  873. Where's the line for us?

  874. Is it that attitude so we don't want to give up?

  875. Is it that game?

  876. Now?

  877. We don't want to give up? I'm stabbing in the

  878. dark here. You know it, You know what to put

  879. in there? I don't you know what to feel in

  880. the blank there with your cutoff, with how far you'll

  881. go before you'll say, now, listen, that's too much. You've

  882. asked too much of me. You expect too much of me.

  883. Am I closing. If anyone feels like praying, I'm closing

  884. right now. I must mention one last passage tonight. This

  885. will be my closing remarks. Mark chapter number nineteen. There's

  886. a young man. Amen, there's a young man, and he

  887. had great plans, and he had great intentions. I don't

  888. think he would have kicked to Jesus if he didn't, Amen.

  889. But he came to Jesus and he said, what good

  890. thing must I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus says

  891. a little something, and I remember right, he says something

  892. back to Jesus, and then Jesus says, one thing thou

  893. lackest believe it was that one thing thou lackest Go

  894. and tell that was his point coming to Jesus was

  895. the water. The good intentions was the water, Amen. The

  896. good intentions was bringing Jesus a glass of water, if

  897. you will. But selling all that he had, that was

  898. the bread, that was his necessities. That's what he felt like.

  899. He couldn't let go of Amen. That's what he had

  900. a hard time, and that's where he drew the line.

  901. Where will we draw the line? Where do we draw

  902. the line and say I'll go right here and I

  903. won't go no further. I appreciate my heart. I feel

  904. like God gave me this for somebody tonight. I think

  905. God wants to help someone. Aymen. I feel like God

  906. wants to move for someone. I feel like God wants

  907. to sustain someone. Not only was Elijah sustained, the widow

  908. was sustained, you will be sustained in your giving. Amen.

  909. I'm done. I wonder if anybody feels like given a

  910. little more tonight. Amen, somebody want to say, I've been

  911. given the water long enough. I've offered water my whole life.

  912. I've been willing to bring water my whole life. But

  913. I understand, and God spoke to me tonight and said

  914. it's gonna take more than just water. Oh God, help

  915. me to be willing to give. But the Master would

  916. require
