The Obedience Of Jesus | Joy Teh

You're listening to a message to go from axt church. We hope this message

will light up your day today. I have a simple word to share with

us and it's also a very personal word to me, and the Lord has

been speaking to me. And not the easiest I guess it's easier to share

a happy message teach the world. You know. I love the teaching part

because it's just a bit more natural for me going to the chigu mode.

But you know, but this is a personal message and I believe. But

I believe even as I want in obedience to if the Lord wants to me

to share, and I will share, and I speak God's word. I

pray that that you know, the Lord will speak to you as well,

to each and every one of us here today. Hallelujah. So I was

praying and even as this is the first Sunday of the month, God,

how are we to start our year? How would you start your year?

And you know this first of January? Oh, yes, first of January

to twenty four. Yes, let's start our year. So for me,

I prayed and I say, God, how would I want to start this

year? Lord? And I know that even as I'm saying this I and

I believe some of us are at the point where we are like, oh,

yes, twenty twenty four, this is the year. You know,

some of us are really looking forward and that's great. Yeah, but some

of us might not be so looking forward. And I totally understand that as

well, and because I'm in their shoes too, honestly. Yeah, but

it doesn't mean you cannot be happy. Yeah. Yes, it's a choice

that we make. Amen, not about our circumstances, but the reality of

the circumstances. I understand how you feel because I also feel it. Okay,

okay, So what is your circumstance? Is your circumstance I may not

fully understand, but God does, and you don't understand mine too. But

that's not the point today, Okay. So the point today is not to

ask me what is it? But the point is what is God saying to

us? So I always pay you. I say, God, how am

I going to start this year? So I I believe, and I want

to start this year with Jesus. I man as simple as I want to

start my year with Jesus, and I want to end my year with Jesus.

And along the way, if God decided to take me home. I

see Jesus. Though, It's still okay, right, right, because you

started the year with Jesus. Even if God is to take us home,

you never know, right, Life is short, time is short, and

you never know. This could be your last year. It sounds so gloomy

joy on the first Sunday of the year, But that's the truth, right,

the truth. Anytime we can go home and see Jesus, we better

be ready. So let's start the year with Jesus. No time to waste

on the very first Sunday. It's either you decide once and for all this

year. I'm going to follow Jesus or it's going to be wasted by the

time you reach December. All right. So, and even as I share

this is also a very personal message that what I am personally God is bringing

me true and what has God has been speaking to me as well? And

I title my message today the Obedience of Jesus. So we want to look

at Jesus and how and we are zooming in on the very last day that

Jesus had on earth. I know it sounds like a good Friday message,

right, yeah? Probably so okay, on his last day on earth and

how Jesus took that steps of obedience in going to the cross. Now,

I know it's very familiar. We hear it all the time, especially maybe

doing Easter and Good Friday. But this is what the Lord reminded me.

Here come, so let's read. My main text will be from Matthew chapter

twenty six, and before I go on, So go to see you serving

today. Myra. Where's myrah? Oh, there's there, Alma, I'm

looking. There's myrah. Yes, A proud of you girl. Yeah.

And I know there's different ones of you who also are have recently joined in

our dream teams to serve, showing you on all of you. Yeah,

all right, So let's look into the world of God in Matthew chapter twenty.

Now I'm going to read from verse thirty to fifty. But as I

go on in my message, I will also again allude back to the word

because we may not remember what we read. But just to give us a

background of Matthew twenty six. So verse thirty, thank you Xtivy for helping

me with the verses when when they had sung a hymn, they went out

to the mouth of olives. Okay, I'll give us the background afterwards.

All right. So then Jesus said to them, all of you will be

made to stumble because of me this night, for it is written, I

will strike the shepherd, and the shape of the flock will be scattered.

But after I've been raised, I will go before you to Galilee. So

Peter answer and say to him, even if all are made to stumble because

of you, I will never be made to stumble. Okay, So Jesus

said to him assuredly. I say to you that this night, before the

rooster crows, you will deny me. Three times. Peter said to him,

even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you.

Oh, and so said all the disciples now verse thirty six. Then

Jesus came with them to a place called Gasomini and say to the disciples,

sit here while I go and pray over there. And he took with him

Peter and the two sons of Sabidi. And he began to be sorrowful and

deeply distressed. Then he said to them, my soul is exceedingly sorrowful even

to death. Stay here and watch with me. He went a little further

and fell on his face and prayed, saying Oh, my father, if

it is possible, let this cord pass from me. Nevertheless, not as

I will, but as you will Verse forty Then he came to the disciples

and found them asleep, just like some of us, and said to Peter,

what could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray lest

you enter into temptations. The spirit, indeed is willing, but the flesh

is weak. Again a second time he went away and prayed, saying,

Oh, my father, if this cup cannot pass away from me unless I

drink it, your will be done. And he came and found them asleep

again, for their eyes were heavy hmm. So he left them, went

away again and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Then he

came to his disciples and said to them, are you still sleeping and resting?

Behold, the hour is at hand, and the son of Man is

being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, Let us be going.

See my betrayal is at hand Verse forty seven. And while he was still

speaking, behold Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude,

with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.

Now his betrayal had given them a sign saying whomver I kiss, he

is the one seized him. Immediately. He went up to Jesus and said,

greetings, Rabbi, and kiss him. But Jesus said to him,

friend, why have you come. Then they came and laid hands on Jesus

and took him. God bless the reading of his word. We will stop

here just to give you a background. So the background of this is I

started from verse thirty because I noticed this almost for the first time. I

know she whether you're not this or not. And when they had sung a

hymn, they went out to the mound of olives. So what happened before

verse thirty, if you read a birth the verses, they had the last

supper together. So Jesus asked the disciples to find a room. All right,

So they were in an upper room and they were having a suppurb together.

Now before that, Judas is scared. One of the twelve apostles or

twelve disciples already agreed with the chief priest to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of

silver. And that is at that time the price of buying the lowest level

of slave. That's the word okay, that Judas agreed to betray Jesus for

okay, that was already he already made that agreementity, and then they had

the Last Supper together. And this is at the end of the Last Supper,

right when Jesus broke break and today we took communion together. Right.

So they in the Jewish culture, they do that to remember the deliverance that

God did for them from Egypt back in the Old Testament. So even in

the New Testament, in Jesus's time, the people of Jewish people, they

still celebrate Passover, okay, So they remembered the deliverance, so they celebrated.

So they were supposed to celebrate Passover all right. Now. So but

however, if you look at the timing of when Jesus had the Last Supper

with his disciples, he actually had it slightly earlier than the usual time that

the passover lambs were slaughtered, okay in the temple. So when the Jesus

had the meal with the last suppleb with the disciples, it was slightly before

the actual passover. Okay. So that was based on the you know,

when you study the Bible and the chronology, all right, but it is

not to say that when they had the last supper, because when they celebrate

Passover, they will eat one understand together, the sacrificial lamb. So actually

there was no mention of eating the lamb at this very last supper. Why

there was no lamb. The lamb haven't been started yet because Jesus died on

the cross at the same time doing passover. So Jesus had the last supperb

before that with his disciples, and Jesus is the lamb, all right,

because the disciple didn't understand at the time, okay, okay, So just

for you to understand that, it's the context, okay, okay. So

and to know where this came from. In First Corringons, Paul also mentioned

that Christ is our passover who was sacrificed for us in First Coringtons chapter five,

verse seven. Okay, So I tip toed up my message, and

as I read through this portion of scripture, I drew out a few well

I call them steps, I yeah, just for my own understanding, I

call it steps. Did what happened to Jesus as the day that was leading

up to the cross, finally he took our sin on the cross, that

big step of obedience right on the cross, but there was a process if

you see the story here. So my first point was from verse thirty.

Okay, so my first point is Jesus saying, now I know the ultimate

sacrifice is on the cross, right, but the process of it. As

I'm speaking today, I pray, and I pray, and I ask the

Holy Spirit to speak to our hearts because some of us God has already spoken,

and we know what God has asked us to do, and that obedience

that He has required of us. Only Jesus had to do, had to

take that step of obedience. It was not you, and I know it

was he. Only he is to die on the cross, so no one

could have taken his place. All right, Okay, so it was his

call. You and I have a call that God has called us, But

only you can take that step of obedience. I do not know what call

is that, but only you know. And I pray that even as you

you hear the word of God, I pray that you will encourage you today.

So Jesus sang, now, I almost missed it all this war when

I read this when they had finished. Now, so I studied a little

bit more. Okay, now we don't usually hear in the Bible Jesus sang,

you know, correct, now any other reference to it, please tell

me, because I don't remember any place in the that says Jesus Jesus sang

or sung? All right. So, but when they had finished the past

over meal, they sang a hymn as they went out to the mouth of

our lives because Jesus wants to go to wanted to go to the garden of

Gatzemoney to pray. All right, Now, we don't always think of Jesus

singing. I wonder how Jesus's voice sounds like. It sounds like fast to

not there? Now, how they count the start of the day, it's

a little bit different, okay. So actually the day, the same day

that he took day to the paths of the meal, is the same day

that Jesus died on the cross, okay, in their way of calculating the

hours last okay, okay, So knowing that on the same night you're going

to be hung on the cross, how would your singing be? Like?

I really don't know how Jesus sang, but I don't think he seemed pleasing.

Yeah, I don't think. Okay, he knew what is ahead of

him, but he sang. I believe he sang his lungs out to the

Lord. He gave his highest praise to God, the Father. Amen.

Amen, And he lifted his whole heart in praise to God. I believe

that, Okay now, but it is amazing that Jesus could sing on the

night before his crucifixion. Could we sing in such circumstances? Okay now?

But I believe Jesus sang because you wanted to please God. You want to

worship God, and you worship because and he worship God because he wanted to

please God. He loves God and just said, we want when we love

someone, we want to please someone. Isn't it so your praises to God?

It's not because? But John the words she asks you to sing,

you sing because you love God. Amen. Husband and wife, you love

your wife, your husband, you want to please your husband. Why isn't

it so those of your husband what he next to each other? You can

say something nice to each other now, okay, but if you're not seeing

Now studying a little bit more. In those days, the Jews, when

they celebrate Passover, after they finish the meal, they will sing tree sums

and they call it I don't remember I pronounce it correctly, the hello and

the way you heard before. So it's tree palms. They sing Psalms hundred

and sixteen, one hundred and seventeen, one hundred and eighteen, tree Psalms

in the goal after the past over. Now, I've drawn out a few

of the verses from Psalms one hundred and sixteen, seventeen and eighteen, and

I was surprised too. I'll share you more, okay. One of it

Psalms one hundred and sixteen, verse eight to nine. Remember Jesus he is

Jesus, he is to pass over them. No one understands it, and

he is singing a psalm back in the Old Testament. For you have delivered

me XTIV. You can help me thank you XCIV my soul from death.

Jesus is singing that now. The disciples probably singing like how they sing every

year, like as though how God delivered the people in the past in the

Old Testament. But Jesus, when he sang the psalm, he knew exactly

what's going to happen, all right, And some of you you will be

needing to sing praisers to God, Hallelujah in your step of obedience unto the

Lord. You will be needing to sing. And I encourage you to sing,

for you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears,

and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land

of the Living. Jesus is singing dead. And Jesus knew exactly that he's

going to face the cross, and he's singing that I will in verse thirteen

to fifteen Psalms six hundred and sixteen, I will take up the cup of

salvation and call upon the name of the Lord. That's what exactly Jesus did

you know? On the cross, I will pay my vowels to the Lord

now, And that's exactly what Jesus did. He knew his purpose, and

he needed to pay that vow in the presence of all his people. Precious

in the sight of the Lord is the death of his sayings. Moving on,

Psalm one hundred and seventeen, verse one, Praise the Lord, all

you gentiles, Lord him, all you peoples. Now he is with his

disciples for all Jewish. But it's by faith. It's all was declaring that

true his death. Gentiles will come to know the Lord. Only Jesus knew

what he was saying. Okay, okay, you pushed me verse This is

some hundred and eighteen verse thirteen to fourteen. You pushed me violently, and

we all know Jesus was not only pushed, he was weep. He was

the torns. The crown of torns was pushed into his head that I might

fall. But the Lord helped me. Now Jesus knew what he's going to

face, and every verse was like life to him. People, can you

understand what Jesus was going through. The Lord is my strength and song.

He has become my salvation Verse seventeen and nineteen. I shall not die,

but live, hallelujah and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord has

chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. Open

to me the gates of righteousness. I will go to them, and I

will praise the Lord. I shall not die badly because he know he's going

to rise again after the third day, right and declare the works of the

Lord. And when he goes to the when he goes to the cross,

he's sticking upon himself our punishment. Right. And but when he prayed,

open to me the gates of righteousness, because Jesus is taking that step of

obedience, he's walking in that righteousness, and that means there it's gates of

unrighteousness too. What git are we going to walk in? And he is

saying that I will go through them and I will praise the Lord. Can

you see the steps of obedience that Jesus taking before he reached his obedience finally

at the cross. This is the first step already. It is the singing

praises and declaring obedience unto the Lord. And in verse twenty two and twenty

three, the stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone, and

he is the chief cornerstone. This was the Lord's doing. Its marvelous in

our eyes. And some of you are from Victory Academy, our teachers and

a passa Cande have also declared these verse hundred Psalm hundred and eight some hundred

eighteen, verse seventeen to us, I shall not die but live. And

that was just confirming. Only when I prepared this, I didn't I can't

remember when Buss said that earlier on to the team. Yeah, and he

called us now the teachers and staff of AIA and Victory Academy, the overcomers.

Yes, hallelujah, I shall not die but live. Hallelujah. The

Lord is speaking a man. So by the time Jesus reached the Garden of

Gatsimony, he's probably at Psalm one hundred and eighteen, so its at some

one hundred and sixteen mine. And if you look at the summer's very punjunga

and it's very long, okay, so one hundred and sixteen hundred and seventeen

by the time he reaches the garden and he's going to pray. Psalms one

if you knew you would be led away, to be mobbed, to be

at, to be slept, to be falsely accused. Because Jesus was falsely

accused. I underlined that for myself here I don't know about you hung as

a convicted criminal to die upon the cross, and that was the worst punishment.

You know, in the Roman States they hung the most the baddest criminal

on the cross. Do you think that you can sing the way Jesus sing

tonight after your last meal? Okay? So something for also think about falsely

accused because sometimes I don't know who I'm speaking to. But God spoke to

me as well, because in my recent journey sometimes I did. I personally

felt like there was not falsely accusers. Sometimes people misunderstand you, right,

So those of you, if God spoken to you falsely accused things that you

know not fully true God, and soon as you don't know how to justify

things right like, it's not like that. No, it's not like that,

Ah, but it seems to be perceived as like that. What do

you do about it? Jesus went through the same thing, all right,

Halley Louiah. That's the first step, meneing. I got the first bit.

Okay, second step that I drew out from the verses is from verse

thirty two. So verse thirty in the steps of Jesus going to the cross,

Jesus sang, okay, his first step of obedience, this is what

I drew our from the verses. And the next step I drew out is

I noticed in verse thirty two it says Jesus looked beyond the cross. Now,

when you are going to your cross, you will need to look beyond

that. Now. In verse thirty one, Jesus predicts the desertion of the

disciples. Right, so it sounded very bad news. No, when Jesus

was talking about this, right, he told the disciples, all of you

are going to stumble because I mean, oh, didn't you say that that.

I'm just saying, okay, And Jesus said that he coulted the verse

I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.

But immediately inserting in between the bad news, Jesus said, but after

I've been raised, I will go before you to Galiley. Can you see

that? Yes, the truth is the disciples are all going to leave him.

He knew it. And then or when I read about Peter are you.

I feel so sucked, I feel so hap painful. Peter and Jesus

are. It's like Jesus knew exactly what's going to happen, and Peter is

there like, genuinely, Jesus, I will never never like, have you

been in that shoes? Then you see or as a parent, you see

your child's like promising you like that. Then you are like, but I

know you're going to fail. Now I know you're going to fail. How

do you say to the to that person? Correct? Not when that person

genuinely believed that he or she can do it? And that But Jesus,

out of his love of his heart, he he just loved them, like

all right, Jesus just loved his disciples, all right. Okay, So

Jesus looked beyond the cross. So but after I've been raised our goal before

you to Galilee, That's what Jesus said. And then Peter started answering,

no, even if everybody else leave you, I will not leave you.

And then and then Jesus told him straight to his face, nous, very

direct, very direct. So I think wrong, gonna be direct, So

no, okay, telling myself, Jesus say that you know what tonight,

rite before the rooster crows. Now, in the Palestine time at that time,

the rooster huguely crows between midnight to three am. So that time is

the time when the rooster will crow. So before the rooster crowe, you

will deny me three times? So specific now before three times, then peters

in no way, Jesus, no way. Okay. Now, now as

I share this, I'm focusing on Jesus, Jesus's obedience, but on in

the process the words that Jesus said to his disciples is something we can learn

know that the second step that Jesus took in his obedience is looking beyond the

cross. So when Jesus said that, Jesus was already setting his eye on

the joy that was set before him. Hebrews chapter twelve, verse one and

good message. So Hebrews chapter twelve, verses one and two actually read it

again. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud

of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily

and snares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set

before us verse two, looking onto Jesus, the author and the finishing of

our faith, who for the joy that was set before him. He endured

the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand

of the throne of God. Imen So you notice this in verse thirty two,

Jesus looked beyond the cross. He already looked that. You know what,

disciples, I know all of you are going to fail me, But

you know what, when I rise again after the third day, I'm gonna

catch up with your Jesus didn't even condemn theminal just didn't say them, no,

you nonsense, Louzy, for us know nothing. Jesus says, say

that, don't worry. After it's all done, I shall see you again

like that. Okay, okay, So Jesus look beyond the cross and the

failures of his friends are okay, okay, but let's learn from the friends,

all right, the disciples now, But Jesus is also telling the disciples

that he was really in command of the situation, that even if they desert

him, it has the scripture has to be fulfilled correct that the sheep of

the flock will be scattered. All he needed to do is to keep his

eyes on Jesus. Now it comes to the conversation with Peter. Peter really

genuinely felt brave at that time. He said, God, Jesus, I

will be with you no matter what. Okay. But Peter had no perception

beyond this moment. He doesn't understand what's going to happen. But Jesus was

trying to warn him that, Peter, you need to learn not to trust

in your strength, because Peter's strength is bonus and courage. That's that's why

he's the leader. And when he say no, no, no, we

will not then order disciples. Okay, yea, yeah, yea, yeah,

he's like, don't worry, Jesus, I can do this one.

I will be with you. Okay, he will know, like, okay,

moving on now. The next step we will see in the versus is,

of course, Jesus made his way to the garden of gatsomeny, Jesus

being fully men we all know, and Jesus being fully god right yet going

to the cross. We see here Jesus falling on his face to the ground

praying. And this is also one of the rarer I won't say other scripture

A while we had to study the whole by okay, I can't say I

can't know. I don't. I won't say that if this is the only

place. But at this point I can't remember any place that Jesus asked the

disciples to watch and pray with him. So this is the moment, the

moment that he's going to face the cross, all right, Okay, now,

so Jesus. The third point that I put in is Jesus fell on

his face and he prayed. Okay, So before he went to the cross,

in his steps of obedience, he prayed. The struggle at the cross

was first worn in prayer in Gatsomany do we all know that Jesus wouldn't have

been able to endure the cross if he didn't win that battle in gets Many.

obvious it is a battle. But let us read the scripture and let us

understand a little bit more. So Jesus prayed this prayer. And I want

to highlight some words to you that Jesus said. So Jesus came to a

and pray over there. He took in Peter, the two sons of the

And then he said to them, my soul is exceedingly sorrowful. Very

rarely you hear Jesus say this in all his time of ministry. But this

is that moment, even to death. Okay, stay here and watch with

me. Jesus is asking them to watch with him. Then he went further,

and then he prayed. He prayed the Awesomer's prayer. Ever, or

my father, if it is possible, let this card pass from me nevertheless,

not as I will, but as your will. Just to understand,

the words in Greek basically is expressing the greatest sorrow you can imagine. Honestly,

I don't think we can imagine. Okay, what is our greatest sorrow?

Allow people maybe like childbirth or some of us mothers. What else are

Okay? There are? I know we lost a love one okay, some

of us not even there yet, maybe lost our pet. I know it's

very painful, all right, yeah, but different ones of us I had

different levels of sorrow. Okay, But the greatest sorrow you can imagine.

Okay. Now, the book Methal is written by Methial. Okay, okay,

So metthew's word that he used. Actually he used this word exceedingly sorrowful.

In other parts of Metheu, so this author and in other parts basically

talks about emotion that is violent, okay, godness Okay. So in other

words, it expresses the ultimate emotion. Okay. So there are other parts

in the Bible that talks about this original word. It says. It also

is translated as greatly afraid, greatly grieved, greatly astonished, feared greatly.

So if not necessarily a negative word, it can be also a neutral word.

But the word is a lot greatly. Can I understand exceedingly? Okay,

So this is what Jesus is trying to tell. And I guess the

writer of metal is trying his best to translate, no, to write what

Jesus is saying. Okay, So Jesus was disturbed. Why. I'm sure

we all know why. Right, He's going to the cross, Okay,

And Jesus being fully man, yes, but he's fully God, he knew

it is like it was gonna happen time. Okay. So he is disturbed

and he's exceedingly sorrowful because he knows the physical horror that's going to wait him

at the cross. Right, And we understand the sufferings of Jesus, And

we have seen some movies put together because it helps us imagine a little bit

better, because it's very hard. We don't live in those days in the

culture, and you know, it's hard even personally. So it's unless we're

sturdy we read, we won't really fully understand. But more than the physical

horror, Jesus was distressed at the spiritual horror, horror of waiting for all

the cross. Why, because it's like he knows that he's going to go

and all that is the moment, the moment that he's going to be separated

from the Father. We all know that, right, because Jesus is going

to stand in the place of guilty sinners for us, right, and he's

going to receive all the spiritual punishment of the whole world of last time and

now and in the future. You get what I'm trying to say. So

every all the spiritual punishment on him one man, okay, in Second Corintance,

chapter five, verse twenty one, for he made him who knew no

sin, to be sin right for us, that we might become the righteousness

of God in him. He meant so he became sin in totality, you

know. So Jesus went to the to the to his death, knowing that

this is the Father's will for him, and he knows that he has to

face it alone. He cannot take bitter with bitter. You're come with,

Mila, And now this we ask our friend to go with us, right,

like to see our teacher, you know whatever, but or you know

to face him when you were younger of couse. But Jesus knew he had

to do it alone, and he has to be the sacrificial past over them

once and for all. Now, so this is where the battle is in

verse thirty nine. Onwards he went as in. Jesus went a little further

and fell on his face. Miss She went straight paw on his Sney's palm

on his face and try to imagine with me saying, oh my father,

I'm not sure you think. I don't think Jesus that, oh my father,

it is possible. I don't think it's all of that. I don't

know. Think about your worsest moment in your life, your most desperate moment

in your life. You're worse, yes, and you're on your face,

You're crying your eyeballs out, and you are like like pleading, you're begging,

you're pleaning. And I felt that it was a pleading. Okay,

so it's not that Jesus cannot plead. Jesus cannot beag. Jesus came to

the point where he said, oh my father, please, I don't know

loud. I'm just imagining if it is possible, Like he's just trying one

more time, maybe called the father. You have another plan, Please have

another plan. Don't want this blend? Okay, let this cup pass from

me. Okay, our pause here and we'll read the verse later that if

it is possible, what do you think do you think it's possible? No?

But then how come In mad Tel nineteen you can turn to your Bible

verse twenty six, it says that nothing's impossible with God. Okay, you're

right and wrong. Correct, correct, It's impossible and impossible at the same

time. Okay, so we all know. And I think I touched on

this before for the same of time. Men moan, there are some things

God cannot do, Manma, What is it that God cannot It's impossible for

God to lie? Right? God cannot change, immen. God cannot go

against his own words. God cannot stop loving us, because that's his promise

to us, Immen. And in Hebrews eleven, verse six, it says

it's impossible to please God if without if we have no faith without faith.

Right, So there are some things here, John, you are right.

It is not possible for God to atone for sin and to read him last

humanity, apart from the perfect, the word satisfying sacrifice that Jesus prepared himself

for. Imen. Now, the last time I pish I talk about the

virgin birth of Jesus now, without Jesus being that perfect sacrifice, there's no

way to take away our sins immen. So since Jesus drank the cup of

judgment at the cross, we all know that it is not possible for salvation

to come in any other way. So if any of you here you do

not know Jesus yet, but you if you think all you have heard or

what you have learned, is that there's other ways to get to eternal life,

to have your sins forgiven. God's word says there is no other way,

only true Jesus imen salvation by the work of Jesus at the cross is

the only possible way, because if there is, and if there is any

other way, then Jesus die in vainity. Gun gone, Hello, it's

all in vain if there was any other way, and because there is no

other way, So question, then why did Jesus ask God the Father if

it is possible? What do you think? I to me. I think

it's because he knew how hard it's going to be. Do you understand Jesus

also feel hard when I know Susa, Oh my goodness, this is what

it is. God? Is there any other way? He identifies with each

and every one of us when we pray, God, if it's possible,

can I not do this? I have found myself as playing this in my

own quiet time. I say, it's my personal journey in the recent months.

I thank God, if it's possible, can I not do this?

I have prayed. Don't ask me what is it? It's not important,

okay, because it became, it came where. It became so hard.

Lord, it's just so hard. And maybe you are also at that place

in your life that it is beyond you you. Maybe it's a task in

front of you. Maybe it's a challenge in your family, maybe it's at

your workplace, maybe it's in your thirties that God, you are pleading with

the Lord God, if it is possible? All right, hallelujah. And

what's the God's answer to me? I'll share later to you, okay.

So, And what's God's answer to Jesus? Obviously there's no other way,

right, yes, okay? So now, but before we go on to

the park, the next part of the verse, the cup. What does

the cup symbolize us? Here? When Jesus said, if possible, may

this cup pass from me? Now? In the Old Testament, the cup

is a powerful picture of the wrath and the judgment of God Psalms seventy five,

verse eight, so that we understand what Jesus is trying to ask God,

if this cup can be taken away from me. In Psalm seventy five,

verse eight, it says, for in the hand of the Lord there

is a cup, and the wine is great, it is fully mixed,

and he palls it out. Surely it's drags, shall all the wicked of

the earth drain and drink down. So basically, it's God's judgment and fury.

In other words, the cup that Jesus is going to drink is that

Jesus is now going to become an enemy of God, taking on the whole

or the sin of the world, who is going to be judged and forced

because he's to become sinema. He becomes the enemy, and he's going to

be forced to drink this cup of the Father's fury. So that we do

not have to drink from this cup ever. Hallelujah, Can I hear praise

the Lord? Amen? And this is the true source of Jesus's agony at

the Garden of Gatsimone. I hope you are following me. Yeah. So

it's not just the horror of the physical pain that Jesus had to go to

on the cross, but it is the spiritual horror of having to take on

that judgment. Hallelujah. So the cup didn't represent death but judgment, and

Jesus was not afraid of death. And when he finished the work on the

cross, what work is that? The work of receiving and bearing and satisfying

the righteous judgment of God, the Father upon our sin. Correct, when

he finished that work, all he needed to do on the cross what he

said, it is finished. And he just yielded himself to death. No

issue. The death is not the issue. He just need to complete this

work on the cross, taking on the judgment upon himself. Hallelujah. So

let me end this part. We're coming to an end. So Jesus took

his steps of obedience. He said, Praises to God is what I drew

out from death, this versus. He he looked forward for the joy that

was said before him. He prayed. He came down on his knees and

he prayed. And in his prayer to me, it was the most honest

and the most heartfelt, meaning I can at least for now. I am

comforted that Jesus also prayed that prayer, God, if it's possible, take

it away from me, yay, because I don't want and it's okay to

be honest to God, God, I actually don't want this. If it's

possible, God, he to someone else, Alila, I mean no,

but for me in my quiet time, I'm very honest to God. And

as God's very honest to me, it's no part. Okay. So yeah,

yeah, okay. Now the last part nevertheless, not as I will,

but as you will. So the fourth and final point is Jesus.

Remember he haven't got to the corseat no, He's now on in the process.

Right before Judas is scared, came with the leading priest, Jesus.

Three times Jesus prayed the same prayer, God, if it's possible, take

this card for me, God, if it's possible. Not just one time.

Oh yo, I'm so comforted, lol lolo, okay, so three

times, and then finally Jesus said, yet, not my will be done,

but yours be done. Hallelujah. So Jesus came to a point of

decision in Gatsumani. It wasn't that he had not. He didn't know.

He didn't the God hate member. At the creation, they already decided that

Jesus, God the Sun, will come and die. They already knew.

Okay. But now it's the point that he has to go to the cross.

So again, remember is that point of decision again, So he drank

the cub Yes, at Calvary, at the cross, he took our judgment

there. But it is at Gatsimony that he decided once and for all to

drink it. Amen. So the struggle at Gatsimony is actual, the actual

place of crushing. So Jesus at his lowest point is at Gatzimony, has

an important place in fulfilling God's plan or redemption. If Jesus failed here in

this garden, he wouldn't have gone to the cross for us, and his

success here in Gatsomony made the victory at the Cross possible. Hallelujah. Amen.

So that's the final point there after that he went to the cross.

Of course, we all know the story, okay. So now before I

caucused draw to the end, there are other things that he talked to the

disciples about, and I don't I think there's a lot to learn from so

quickly before we end. I didn't put it as one of my points because

this I'm talking about Jesus's obedience. Man. So, once he winned that

battle in prayer, he went to the cross. But remember, I said,

along the way, he is also discipling his disciples. Right, what

did he tell your disciples watch and pray or can't you watch with me?

Well, not so much on Jesus's obedience. Now it linked to the disciples

as well. But another point that we can put to ourselves in our steps

of obedience is the watching and praying. Amen. So verse forty. Jesus

came to the disciples, and then remember found them asleep and told Peter,

what could you not watch with me? One hour? Watch and pray?

Let you enter into temptation? All right? So of course Jesus said,

the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. And again he came

to them again, found them asleep for their eyes. Well, hey,

REALI I said, it sounds like all of us. How many of us

you do our quiet time? You don't fall asleep? One? Very good

if it's you. Okay, yeah, I remember in my younger days,

hardly I fall asleep when I do my quiet time. No, ha,

well coome okay, so don't laugh at us older people. Okayh yeah,

if you're young, you're like, no problem. I can read my Bible,

I can pray. No falling asleep, very good, keep it up.

Okay, wait until you're older. Yeah, So for the older people

here, don't worry. I cheer you on. Okay, not I wait?

Oh so young at heart? Okay, yeah, hallelujah. We can

do it, and if we have to, we cannot. Sometimes I can't

even sit down and read our immediately for a stay on my table. Okay,

okay, it could be just my problem, right a sleep dad that

I have, just yeah, just a sleep. So but maybe not for

you. But if you are like me, encourage yourself. Come on.

If it's not sitting down, maybe stand up. It's okay, stand out

and pray. You know. If it's not morning, then not night,

morning, afternoon, So can anytime. Just don't give yourself excuse us?

Why not? Just don't let excusers come in the way. Just do it.

Oh and if reading the Bible is a problem because cannot see why or

too dark or you know, falling asleep, then listener or they also can

yeah. Yeah, anyway, listening you can force you know how all that

are your Ah, then why we ask we ask a elder terrorists? I

don't okay, I'm sure they got lots of tips to help us as well.

Okay, but let's do it together. And the amazing thing is,

what did Jesus say, watch with me? Meaning there's a community one?

Yeah? So and I read this, I was like, yes, you

know what in my step of obedience, Jesus before he goes to the cross,

he invited his discipposed to pray with him. It's not like he never

said this is my job, I would do it myself. Never so as

but but but the but is you invite the disciposed to pray along with him,

but they didn't understand and they fell asleep. Your obedience will always be

your obedience. You cannot rely on someone else. However, you can always

invite someone to be with you and to work with you. A man,

a man, hallelujah. So watch and pray and Jesus, I say,

Jesus knew Peter would fail. And maybe think about it, if Peter and

the disciples or Manie Peter, let's say, if he really watched and prayed.

Maybe, just maybe maybe he wouldn't have denied Jesus. Maybe all right,

maybe Peter would have been more equipped for his hour of his cost,

because that was the moment that he needed to make a choice. I obey

or I don't obey, right, I choose Jesus or not. So again,

the spiritual better is usually worn before the crisis comes. But Jesus spoke

again very kindly to his disciples. Just that he is speaking very kindly to

us today and this morning. Okay, He's speaking to us because he knows

that in our most difficult and agonizing, our what we need is not like

okay, scooding, right, yeah, and that's why Jesus, Jesus himself

said, the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. God

understands. Hallelujah. Okay, But imagine how the disciples have felt nowaday,

after the whole episode, after Jesus died on the cross, and after Jesus

rose from the day, and after Jesus appeared to them again, imagine how

they felt. You mean, I was sleeping in the garden of Gasomini when

Jesus was about to go to the cross, don't you imagine Now, now

we have a chance to read the story and we see the full picture,

you may have an opportunity now to watch and pray church, my friends.

And that's why I believe God is speaking to me and telling me too.

And I believe this is a word of encouragement to all of us. You

have the opportunity right now to watch and pray, because again, remember,

the better is now right. It's obedience now. So when the time come

when you are faced with that challenge, you will be able to stand a

man a man hallelujah. And again I'm encouraged because Jesus prayed the prayer asking

God, God, would you take this away? Three times? Because I

think Jesus really, I mean, it was a struggle. It was a

struggle, and those of us are struggling today, maybe some of us here

again, like I said, I will be the first one to say that

I was struggling. I still am. And not one day has passed that

I did not cry out to the Lord. No, I say God,

this is so hard, okay you for me. I thought my twenty twenty

two was the hardest to day. And then come to me, to the

tree, m I thought, Okila, that's the hardest. But you know

what I do today? Haha, still hard hard for me. This is

my personal journey. But you know what God reminded me, So let me

share you, okay. So I pray, and you know what God reminded

me of this verse? So actually you help me. Second Corintance, Chapter

twelve, Verse eight and nine. So I say, pray, God,

if it's your will, choose Alina, choose Elder mable someone else or you

know, sometimes you feel God, why me and I doing for so longly?

It's someone else doing, you know. I kind of think like,

okay, you have your prayer. I have mind journey. Okay, okay,

so don't judge me. Okay, of course you don't know. You

don't judge each other. But I'm just sharing again. I say, this

is not easy to share because it's still something that God is working in my

life. But I believe the Lord wants to encourage us. Amen. Amen.

So God encouraged me with this verse. Second Corrintance twelve. I don't

know whether it's encouragement or not. You know, concerning this thing, I

pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. Whatever thing

it may be for you and whatever thing is for me. And he said

to me, what did God say to me? I'm like some society.

I sigh to God. I sign a lot to God. And Okay,

my grace is sufficient for you. My strength is made perfect in weakness.

He didn't say it's gonna take away anything. He didn't say it's going to

change anything. But he promised that He's great is going to be enough so

that me's like I said, God, it's too hard, but Mikerat is

going to be enough for you. And I will never put you through something

that I will not see you too, that you cannot that is too much

for you. I will see you too. And that is God's assurance,

and God's promised to all of us a man a man. So I hope

that this encourages all of you as it has encouraged me. And there will

be times that you feel, just like Jesus, that even the people Peter

was so close to Jesus, Peter, James, and John, but even

his inner circle, his bestest friends, were not there for him in his

in his most critical hour. Now, so sometimes some of you, maybe

you're in my shoes or not, or you will be in my shoes one

day that even your closest friend, the one that you have been walking with

you. You have this body, you know, you have other you know,

your team work, you know. It could be your business partner.

It could even be your spouse who have always been there for you may not

fully understand or may not no longer be able to be there for you.

What do you do? Jesus had to still go to the cross by himself.

Amen. So again, this work could be for some of us today,

as God has spoken to me too, because there were times that it

is alone journey. And even I thank God for my husband. He's great.

I will never thank God and I can't thank God enough for him,

but it is still a journey that I have to want. Amen. We
