  1. You're listening to a message to go from Exts Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. The last time I spoke, I did a series on

  4. the be Attitudes and following on the Sermon of the Mound.

  5. So the Sermon of the Mound started in chapter five

  6. of METTHEU all the way to chapter seven. Now again

  7. we are still on the theme this year that all

  8. may know. So even as our praying and preparing again

  9. led to this portion of scripture not unfamiliar to most

  10. of us, I believe, and it is a continuation of

  11. the Sermon of the Mound, right, So we are looking

  12. at Nettie chapter five today. So we finished the be Attitudes,

  13. and right after Jesus was saying that blessed are you

  14. if you're persecuted for Righteous's sake, for yours is a

  15. kingdom of heaven. Then he spoke about being sought of

  16. the earth and light of the world. Okay, so how

  17. many of us here wants to be soul of the earth,

  18. light of the world, shining for Jesus, glorifying the Father.

  19. So if that's you, this message is for you today. Yay.

  20. So let's take and read from Met till chapter five,

  21. and we're again encouraging everyone to own your own bibles.

  22. Bring your bibles to church, and you can turn with

  23. me to Matthew chapter five, verse thirteen to sixteen. So

  24. that will be our main text for this morning. Now

  25. let me read verse thirteen. Okay, well, good with time.

  26. You are the soult of the earth. So this is Jesus.

  27. Now remember the contexts when Jesus was preaching at the

  28. Sermon of the Mound. Is because Jesus was preaching at

  29. the mountainside to his disciples, but there was an inner

  30. circle of the disciples, and there was a crowd that

  31. was also listening in to Jesus. Okay, so Jesus speaks

  32. speaking primarily to his followers, to the Christians. By so

  33. you are the salt of the earth. But if the

  34. salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It

  35. is then good for nothing, so Jesus said, good for nothing.

  36. Jesus say, okay, it is then good for nothing but

  37. to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.

  38. Verse fourteen. You are the light of the world. A

  39. city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden,

  40. nor do they light a lamb and put it under

  41. a basket, but on a lamb stand, and it gives

  42. light to all who are in the house. Let your

  43. light so shine before men, that they may see your

  44. good works and glorify your Father in heaven a man. Now,

  45. let me read again. You can I want us to

  46. read again, right, it's good to repeat reading the Word

  47. of God. I'm going to read in a new living translation,

  48. and you can follow with whatever version that you are

  49. looking at again Verse thirteen. You are the salt of

  50. the earth. But what good is salt has lost its flavor?

  51. Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown

  52. out and trembled under foot as worthless. You are the

  53. light of the world, like a city on a hiltop

  54. that cannot be hidden. No one likes the lamb and

  55. then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamb is

  56. placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone

  57. in the house. In the same way, Let your good

  58. deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone

  59. will praise your heavenly Father, a man. And I pray

  60. that today, after today, we will again cause others to

  61. praise our heavenly Father, a man, that all may see

  62. and know and give glory to our Father. Amen. So

  63. these words are taken from the Sermon of Mouth, as

  64. I mentioned. And we all know that these words or

  65. the Sermon on the Mound is accepted by Christians as

  66. the standard for all Christians, not just for a particular

  67. group of leaders or parts, masters or elders or apostles evangelists.

  68. But this is what Jesus was teaching to all his disciples,

  69. and it is the standard of living for all true Christians. Right, okay,

  70. So again Jesus speaking to us as disciples. Jesus is

  71. telling us tree, I would say, Tree. From these four verses,

  72. are Tree important well truths? Or you can say facts

  73. or truths about ourselves. Now in these verses, if you read,

  74. Jesus didn't say you go and be the side of

  75. soult of the earth right or do this? He is

  76. saying to you and I you are, so turn to

  77. your neighbor on your left. You are, turn to your

  78. neighbor on your right. You are Okay, now I say,

  79. or not Jesus say so. Jesus is telling us tree

  80. very important truths about yourself. So if any of you

  81. here today say I do not know, I do not

  82. know about myself. I don't understand myself. Ah, Jesus telling

  83. you who you are. Okay, Okay. If you say, oh,

  84. I don't know my identity, Jesus is telling you your

  85. identity today. Three things, halle Loujah. So he tells us

  86. that we are the sort of the earth, the light

  87. of the world, and the city that is set on

  88. a hill that cannot be hidden. Okay. So I'm going

  89. to look at these tree things, the tree truths that

  90. Jesus said that we are in a reverse way, in

  91. a reverse order. Okay. Now, in verse thirteen he said

  92. you are the sort of the earth. In verse fourteen,

  93. Jesus said you are the light of the world and

  94. a city on a hill. So I'm going reverse way

  95. and look at the city set on a hill very quickly. First, okay.

  96. So in verse fourteen Jesus said, we are a city. Now,

  97. as we all know, if a city is set on

  98. a hill, obviously it cannot be hidden. How do you

  99. hide a city? Doesn't make my sense? Okay. So, and

  100. so what is Jesus trying to tell us, okay, is

  101. when we when we profess Jesus as our lord and savior.

  102. And you know why we go to the waters of baptism,

  103. and that was commanded, and even Jesus himself went to

  104. the waters of baptism. Right is to declare to the

  105. world that I follow Jesus and no turning back. Correct.

  106. So I encourage any of you here, if you have

  107. not been water baptized, please speak to your homes leader

  108. or any of our leaders or pastors elders here and

  109. we will guide you. For this is a command of

  110. the Lord. And as you walk in obedience, I believe

  111. the Lord will also bless you. Okay. So if we

  112. profess that Jesus is our Lord and savior hahah, then

  113. it becomes we are. We become conspicuous, meaning the whole

  114. world all eyes is now on earth. Do you believe that? Now,

  115. maybe we don't admit it. No, noa Nola, but it's true.

  116. You like it or not, people are looking at you, okay.

  117. So why because we become a city that is set

  118. on a hue. No matter how you try to hide,

  119. it cannot be hidden. Because from the moment we say

  120. we profess Jesus our Lord, our Savior, again, all eyes

  121. will be on us from all directions at all times.

  122. And what are people thinking about us. Now, I'm not

  123. saying that they're thinking bad about us, but it's normal,

  124. right for pre believers or people of the world what

  125. they will say, Oh, so this girl or this lady,

  126. this man says that he is a believer a Christian.

  127. Is his faith genuine? Have you come across that before?

  128. Does he really believe in what he claims to believe?

  129. Does he live it out what he says he believes.

  130. They will analyze every aspect of our lives. They will

  131. analyze our family life, they will analyze our home life,

  132. They will analyze our work life. They will analyze our

  133. dealings in business. They analyze our decisions, they analyze our choices,

  134. and they analyze the conduct and testimony of the church

  135. that you belong to. Do you know that all right?

  136. So if we do not want to be conspicuous, meaning

  137. we do not want any attention, we don't know anyone

  138. to look at us, watch us, judge us analysis, then

  139. don't say you know Jesus because the moment we profess

  140. faith in Jesus, this is inevitable. From that time onwards,

  141. we are a city that is said on a hue

  142. that cannot be hidden. So Jesus already said you are.

  143. They cannot run away, all right, Okay, I'm gonna move on. Okay.

  144. So that's the first thing he said.

  145. You are.

  146. City said on a hill in the same verse in

  147. verse fourteen, I'm very to remind myself slow down, joy okay,

  148. same verse verse fourteen. Now, Jesus also said you are

  149. the light of the world. Now I'm not English teacher,

  150. but the word the here you are the light of

  151. the world. Is like when we are trying to emphasize

  152. something and only something. You are the light of the world.

  153. So that's what Jesus is saying to us. Okay, okay.

  154. Now he is saying that now, so meaning it is exclusive. Okay,

  155. the word there there is actually like saying it the

  156. so meaning there is no other light. Okay, So this

  157. the is exclusive and we are the only light and

  158. the world has no other light. Turn to your neighbor

  159. on your left, you are the light. Turned to the

  160. other neighbor, there's no other light. Okay. So when Jesus

  161. is saying to his disciples that you are the when

  162. you read you're the light of the world, like you're

  163. the light of the worland. So right, But actually it's

  164. you are the light of the world. The world has

  165. no other light except you and I. Okay. So in

  166. the Gospel of John chapter five, verse nine, Jesus was

  167. talking to his disciples, and he said this, so long

  168. as I am in the world, I am the light

  169. of the world. So Jesus was telling his disciples. But

  170. now you know that he is no longer in the

  171. world as in physically, and because we are his representatives,

  172. we represent him now in the world. And therefore in

  173. his place we are the light of the world. And

  174. the world has no other light. Now, if we do

  175. not give light, there is no other source to which

  176. the world can turn or look for light. The world

  177. is totally dependent upon us Christians for light. All right, now,

  178. let me give you again an illustration from the Old Testament. Again,

  179. Old Testament, as you read, it is mirroring and shadowing

  180. something that is going to come right in the New Testament,

  181. and usually it is pointing to Jesus. So in the

  182. Old Testament, way back in Exodus twenty five, when God

  183. gave the instructions to Moses to build the tabernacle. Now,

  184. so in this tabernacle which God has commanded Moses to

  185. make it as a witness, and this is a simple illustration. Okay. Okay,

  186. so he commanded him to make into compartments. Do you

  187. remember that? So if you know the Tabernacle, the tabernacle

  188. has the Holy of Holies right, which is where the

  189. Art of the Covenant is kept, and then in front

  190. of that is the Holy Place. Okay. And in the

  191. Holy Place there are a few sets of furniture, a

  192. few pieces of furniture, and then there's the outer courts right. Okay,

  193. So I have a picture here. The activity can help

  194. me to put it up. Okay, as you can see.

  195. Now again, I'm not gool in what soul know everything,

  196. but no little bit, little bit, just sharing with you

  197. a little bit that I know. So in the you

  198. can see the holy places. So today we're going to

  199. focus on the Holy Place. So right in front of

  200. the whole, the most holy place, which is the Holy

  201. of Holies, we have the of the Covenant and then

  202. the Holy Place, which we have three pieces of furniture.

  203. We have the altar of incense, we have the table

  204. of show Breid, and we have the golden lampstone or

  205. in other Bible translations you will call it the candlestick.

  206. Same so the candlestick and the limestand is the same thing,

  207. all right, depending which one you use. Okay, So two compact,

  208. two main compartments besides the alter courtyard. So it's the

  209. holy place and the most Holy Place. Now there are

  210. only three objects of furniture, as I mentioned. So now

  211. the golden altar of incense is the one that is

  212. immediately in front. So there will be a veil. So

  213. I have another picture that will show you a veil.

  214. This veil will cover the entrance to the most Holy Place, okay.

  215. So right in front of that veil is the golden

  216. altar of incense. Now, so that is the one that's there.

  217. And here the picture shows you the holy holies like

  218. as all. They didn't draw part of the veal like that, okay,

  219. So you can see of the covenant and then the

  220. golden alter of incense. Now the other two pieces of

  221. furniture is what we're going to focus on. Okay. On

  222. the the left side, which we have the is a

  223. candlestick or we call it a lampstand, and it has

  224. seven branches okay, I call branches are chabang okay okay,

  225. three right, tree, left, one in the middle okay. Now,

  226. then on its opposite side, which is the right side,

  227. is what we call a table, and it's called the

  228. table of show bread. Don't worry so much, okay, okay,

  229. just no simple okay, Now these things the writer in Hebrew,

  230. in the Book of Hebrew, it says that it contains

  231. a message, and the message is to the Church of Jesus. Okay,

  232. So I'm not going to go into that. But in

  233. Hebrews it's also mentioned this, So the candlestick. Okay, So

  234. this one the holy place, the tree furniture. So the

  235. candlestick has always in all scripture, if you read and sturdy,

  236. it always typifies the church. So the seven branched candlestick

  237. typifies the church, a seven branch candlestick typifying the sevenfold

  238. Church begotten by the Spirit of God. And this is

  239. the same message that is brought to us in the

  240. seven churches in Asia in the Book of Revelation. Now,

  241. don't worry, but this is it represents the Church of God.

  242. Now let's think about candlestick for a moment. Now, how

  243. many of you here your house called candlestick? One can

  244. some of us are? Some of us are, And the

  245. candlestick is that okay. So for me, if you ask me,

  246. I would imagine candle when got no elegacity there we

  247. can dig all our candles outline, correct, And some of

  248. us we do because of decoration, you know, we burn

  249. the do the candles and all. Okay, But in those

  250. days the candles, the candlestick has boes one okay, it

  251. has bolls and what else? Let me see it has both,

  252. and it has channels that is filled with oil. Okay.

  253. So not sure about today's candle to you, just like

  254. the candle that's it land right then is that God

  255. oil got the boat must fill with oil and and

  256. then there are little wicks dipped in the oil. One

  257. and the light was provided when the oil is being

  258. set on fire. Okay, So we set it on fire,

  259. then it will opurn. So unless there was and so

  260. unless there was oil in the candlestick, and unless the

  261. oil was ignited, the candlestick will give no light now, okay, okay.

  262. So and in the Holy Place, that's now we go

  263. back to the picture. In the Holy Place, there is

  264. no other source of light. This is what was the

  265. blueprint that God gave to Moses. No other source of light. Hence,

  266. if there was no light coming from the candlestick, there

  267. will be no light in the tabernacle, all right, okay,

  268. no light at all. Does it speak of us as

  269. the church now? And this is true for us as

  270. the Church. Remember, we are the lights. Jesus said, you

  271. are the light of the world, and that's the light

  272. of the world, no other light. We are the seven

  273. branched candlestick. And we only give light when we are

  274. filled with oil, and that the oil is set on fire. Okay,

  275. follow me, now, what does oil usually stands for in

  276. the Bible? You will always speak of the Holy Spirit.

  277. So the Church, which is the candlestick, can only give

  278. light when it is filled with oil the candlestick and

  279. hence when it's filled with the Holy Spirit and set

  280. on fire, everybody say fire are thewise? Just like the

  281. candlestick in the tabernacle, the Church is just as lightless

  282. as any other object of furniture. Remember, so until the

  283. candlestick has oil and the oil is littered up, you

  284. will give no light. The Church of God similar like

  285. the candlestick. Unless it's filled with the oil of the

  286. Holy Spirit and with fire of God, we will not

  287. give the light. All right. So the candlestick in itself

  288. is incapable of producing light without the oil and without

  289. the fire. Now hold on to the thought for a while,

  290. and let's remember what John the Baptists said of Jesus.

  291. Now in Luke, So he turned to look chapter three,

  292. verse sixteen, just one verse. So this was before he

  293. baptized Jesus, and John the Baptist was talking about Jesus.

  294. So in verse sixteen he said, John the Baptist answered,

  295. saying to all, I think people were asking him questions.

  296. I indeed baptize you with water. But one mightier than

  297. I is coming, who send the straps. I'm not worthy

  298. to lose. Take note of what John said. He will

  299. baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Hallelujah amen.

  300. So it is he will baptize the Jesus baptizes us

  301. with the Holy Spirit and with fire. So in back

  302. to the tableneckle just now, the holy place. The whole

  303. purpose of the candlestick or the lamb stand was to

  304. cast light. Now again cast light on the object which

  305. was immediately oppositeed. So go back to that diagram again, elvira,

  306. if you can go back to that diagram again, the

  307. first one, Yes, so opposite the golden lamb stand or

  308. the candlestick is the other furniture called the table of

  309. show breid. So remember in this tabonckle, the candlestick has

  310. one purpose only, which is to cast like to the

  311. object that was directly opposite it, which is the golden

  312. table of the show braid. Now, the show braid now

  313. is a type of Jesus Christ who said, I am

  314. the braid of life. Jesus said, I am the braid

  315. that came down from heaven. So the whole purpose of

  316. the candle steak is to give light or to cast

  317. light onto the show bread, to do one thing and

  318. one thing only, to illuminate the table or show bred.

  319. And this is exactly true for the Church of Jesus Christ,

  320. who is the candle steak. So you and brothers and sisters, friends,

  321. we are here as the Church of Christ for one

  322. purpose and one purpose only, hallelujah. And what is that

  323. to do? To cast light onto Jesus, the bread of life.

  324. And that's why Jesus said you are the light of

  325. the world. What you like, for we're casting light onto Jesus. Hallelujah.

  326. And we only ahah and we can only do this

  327. when we are filled with the Holy Spirit, which is

  328. the oil represented by the oil and with and set

  329. on fire. Hallelujah. So again wrapping up again, apart from

  330. the candlestick, there is no source of light in the tabernacle,

  331. and apart from the Church, there is no light in

  332. the world. That's why I told you to turn to

  333. your neighbor and say you are the light of the world.

  334. And the candlestick can only give light when it was

  335. filled with oil and set on fire. The Church can

  336. only give light when it is filled with the Holy

  337. Spirit and set on fire. And the candlestick has only

  338. one object, which is to cast light, and that was

  339. cast light on the table of show bread. And the

  340. Church has only one object upon which to cast light,

  341. and that is our Lord Jesus Christ. So the only

  342. reason you and I as Christians are here is the

  343. cast light on Jesus, the Bread of life. This is

  344. our sole primary purpose of our presence here on the earth.

  345. Can anyone tell me you don't know why you're on earth? Again? Uh? Huh?

  346. I told you, hah Okay. So if you don't know,

  347. I don't know who I am. I don't know what

  348. I am. I don't know what identity. I don't know

  349. what to do. I don't know why God cally, I

  350. don't know what God be me into this world. I'm

  351. telling you that God is have only one purpose for

  352. you here on earth and our burbs is the cast

  353. like on Jesus and everything else that we do, hallelujah,

  354. is secondary to this very purpose of which God has

  355. called us. We are the light of the world A

  356. man a man, hallelujah. And even as we have sung

  357. the song today, right, I didn't. I was preparing yesterday

  358. and this song our this is our own extra song

  359. fire Fall. I don't know the title. I just know

  360. sing mehever. Then after that, then I try to search.

  361. I don't forgot the title all the right, Yeah, okay?

  362. Then found Now then I told her what she reader?

  363. I know who's the what she reader? Okay? After my

  364. man say sing this song, and you know what he said,

  365. Oh so we did. My song is oh oh, hallelujah.

  366. Jesus said, okay, you want to be God line. I

  367. didn't do anything, okay, okay, but whatever whatever song it's okay, yeah,

  368. but I believe it's anointed of the Lord. Today and

  369. later we're going to sing again as our prayer, because

  370. if you sing this song, every line is exactly what

  371. I believe. The song was written anointed by God in

  372. the first place, many years you months ago, all right.

  373. And at the end of the song, the last SIGNE

  374. says what that every time? What I confessed that Jesus

  375. Christ is Lord. So that is the whole point. You

  376. ask fire to follow you aus a revival for what exactly,

  377. so that everyone will know about Jesus. Amen, hallelujah. So

  378. we'll get to that now. So Jesus said, now I'm

  379. going in the reverse order, right city that is set

  380. on the hill. Uh. And we said that. Jesus said

  381. that you are the live of the world. Now in

  382. verse thirteen, Jesus said, you are the song of the earth.

  383. Now again, the word the is the meaning is exclusive.

  384. It means that the earth has no other salt. We

  385. are the only salt available to the earth. Meaning without earth,

  386. the earth is tasteless, flavorless, tasteless. Okay, imagine your life

  387. without salt. Can I know some of us have to

  388. cut down salt. I know, I know, be not but

  389. now no salt nongs you go, you know what, you

  390. know what okay, but we get to cut down I'm

  391. not talking about like health reasons, and we cut down life.

  392. But imagine your entire life without salt, I think way said, right, okay,

  393. all right, salt. That's imagine the earth without us Christians. Okay,

  394. So there are various ways we can apply the significance

  395. of salt. And I know scientists, but I think all

  396. of us are smart enough to know some of the

  397. obvious facts about salt. So, first of all, three things

  398. about salt. Salt It can be used as a word disinfectant. Right,

  399. do you know gargling salt in warm water will solve

  400. a lot of problem? How many you do that? I

  401. will do? That is a very long time home remedy

  402. for a long time already. You can just gargle ur

  403. salt in warm water. Why because it kills the germs. Right, So,

  404. any of us who are speakers, preachers, even those of

  405. us who use a lot of our troth, our vocal card, infection, oursers,

  406. whatever is a good home remedy because salt is a disinfectant.

  407. It keeps away diseases, It tends to prevent germs from

  408. settling in the troath and causing infection. And inflammation. As

  409. I'm saying this, this is what we are supposed to

  410. be Church. We are supposed to be like that disinfectant

  411. in the world around us. We are supposed to disinfect

  412. the atmosphere, the society in which we move, the relationships

  413. of people with us and with others. We are supposed

  414. to keep away germs and infection, not the physical ones,

  415. but the spiritual and the moral ones. Right. In other words,

  416. our presence should make a difference wherever we our place.

  417. Have you ever had people have uh, they're having conversations

  418. of their own and they didn't notice that you were

  419. in the room, And then after that they're like, oh, sorry, sorry,

  420. I didn't know you were here. Then they changed maybe

  421. the choice of words that they use or God not yep. Good.

  422. Keep keep being who you are because it's just your person.

  423. You're not condemning them, neither are you putting them down,

  424. but just your presence they know, Oh yes, I need

  425. to speak properly, I need to behave myself okay, okay,

  426. So our presence should make a difference. Secondly, about salt,

  427. the function of salt is to give flavor to which

  428. would otherwise lack flavor. So what does it mean to

  429. add flavor in the side of God. It means we

  430. are here on the earth to commend the earth to God.

  431. What does that mean? So means apart from our presence

  432. in the earth, there is no other reason why God

  433. should deal with this world any longer. In grace and mercy.

  434. We are the only thing that makes the earth acceptable

  435. to God. Do you know that we are the only

  436. thing that holds back the final judgment and wrath of

  437. God on a Christ's rejecting will. And as long as

  438. we are in the world, our responsibility is our responsibility

  439. is to live in such a way that we commend

  440. this earth to God, to give God a reason why

  441. he should continue to act in grace and mercy towards

  442. those on earth and not in wrath and judgment. Now,

  443. why am I saying this? Now, I'm going to bring

  444. you to a passage again in the Old Testament very

  445. quickly to draw from us a principle here, and that's

  446. our role as the sot of the earth, to commend

  447. the world to God. Now, remember the story of Lord Okay,

  448. So Abraham and Lord Okay So they were very rich.

  449. God prospered them. They got many, many Anna and their family,

  450. very big man servants, many herds, many all their sheeps

  451. and kettles and all, and to a point whereby there

  452. were so many that their servants are the fighting. And

  453. then they departed. Okay, okay. Now, then later on something

  454. happened to Lord Okay, okay. So this is found in

  455. Genesis eighteen. But we want to draw a principle from here.

  456. This is where the Angel of the Lord came to

  457. visit Abraham and Sarah. Okay, that time they got no,

  458. they were all an advance in age. I think isa

  459. ish melbornady, but not yet Okay, the son of the promise,

  460. which is Isaac. So the Angel, which is God himself,

  461. came and visited Abraham and Sarah, and at the time

  462. I think Abraham didn't know, and promised that in a

  463. year's time Sarah is going to have a son. Okay.

  464. So that is the context. But after that there was

  465. a conversation between God and Abraham. And we're going to

  466. look at that conversation now because that is the context.

  467. So let's look at Genesis eighteen, verse twenty to thirty two.

  468. So if you have a Bible and turn, of course,

  469. for those of us who are knew today, and we

  470. will like you to follow. Please, you can read the

  471. scripture on the screen now verse twenty and the Lord said,

  472. now this is God speaking to Abraham. Okay. At that time,

  473. the Lord said, because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah

  474. is great, and because their sin is very grave, I

  475. will go down now and see whether they have done

  476. altogether according to the outcry against it has come to me,

  477. and if not, I will know. This is after God

  478. gave the promise of Isaac to Abraham, and before they left.

  479. Then the men turned away from there and went towards Seldom.

  480. These were the angels of the Lord again. But Abraham

  481. still stood before the Lord. And Abraham came near and said,

  482. would you also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Now

  483. Abraham is pleading to God Lord for his nephew, Lord,

  484. who is staying in Sodom. Okay, so he's trying to

  485. bargain with God. Okay, let's look at the conversation. So

  486. would you destroy the righteous with the wicked? Verse twenty four.

  487. Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city, would you

  488. also destroy the place and not spare it for the

  489. fifty righteous that were in it? Far be it from

  490. you to do such a thing as this, to slay

  491. the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should

  492. be as the wicked. Far be it from you. Shall

  493. not the judge of all the earth do right? So

  494. the Lord said, if I find in seldom fifty righteous

  495. within the city, then I will spare all the place

  496. for their six. Then Abraham answered and said, indeed, now,

  497. I who am but dust and ashes, have taken it

  498. upon myself to speak to the Lord. Suppose there were

  499. five lefts than the fifty righteous, would you destroy all

  500. the city for lack of five? So he said, if

  501. I find they're forty five, I will not destroy it.

  502. You can do the math, right. Yeah. Now Abraham continuum,

  503. and he spoke to him yet again and said, suppose

  504. there should be forty found there. So he said, I

  505. will not do it for the sake of forty. Then

  506. he said, Abraham, Sai, nah, let not the Lord be angry,

  507. because if I think I'll be angryy so many times? Right,

  508. and I will speak. Suppose thirty should be found there.

  509. And so God said, I will not do it if

  510. I find thirty there. And he said, indeed, now I've

  511. taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord. Suppose

  512. twenty should be found there. So God said, I will

  513. not destroy it for the sake of twenty haha, verse

  514. thirty two. Then he said, Abraham said, let not the

  515. Lord be angry, and I will speak. But once more,

  516. suppose ten should be found, and he said, I will

  517. not destroy it for the sake of ten. We stop here.

  518. After that, God, when he's waiting, didn't talk anymore, and

  519. then bye bye. Okay. But the sad thing is God

  520. couldn't even find ten righteous in seldom right, couldn't Why

  521. Abraham stopped at ten. I think Abraham already planned to

  522. ask God for ten one, but he's scared, Like I think, like, okay, God,

  523. maybe fifty test tested or not. God not angry me

  524. forty five and forty and okay, I'm just thinking. Because

  525. Abraham can count his family, Lord, his wife, Lord had daughters,

  526. married and unmarried ones and married one's got sons in laws,

  527. so you can come count sons in laws, daughters, unmarried

  528. daughters is about ten. So Abraham was hoping that God

  529. will change his mind for the sake of Lord and

  530. his family. Right, So that's why he stopped at ten.

  531. But the sad thing is the Lord couldn't even find ten.

  532. If Lord Abraham's nephew walked in the ways of the Lord,

  533. just like Abraham, he would definitely have that ten correct.

  534. But he did not. And the sad thing is he

  535. was a believer. He had all the revelations like Abraham had,

  536. but he wasn't living in the light of the revelation

  537. that he had. How do I know that? Now go

  538. back tracker, backtrack five chapters in Genesis thirteen, very quickly,

  539. Genesis the thing verse ten to the thing, and this

  540. was the said thing about Lord. So Lord lifted his

  541. eyes and saw all the plane of Jordan, that it

  542. was well watered everywhere. We're all like well watered things. Right.

  543. This is before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like

  544. the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt.

  545. As you go to a zoa. Then Lord chose for

  546. himself all the plane of Jordan, and Lord journey east,

  547. and they separated from each other. Abraham dwelt in the

  548. land of Canaan, and Lord dwelt in the cities of

  549. the plane, and pitched his tent even as far as

  550. Sodom versus the Din. But the men of Sodom were

  551. exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord. But who chose

  552. to go to Sordom? Lord okay? And he went there

  553. by himself? No, he brought his whole family there. Could

  554. he did he manage to take his whole family out? No? Sadly,

  555. he as the man of the house, let his family

  556. in to Sordom, but he couldn't take them out. Just ps.

  557. We are on the principle of as and as sort

  558. right recommended of the gana stay on tra But PSI

  559. track a little bit on this story. Right, Sometimes that

  560. happens to us as parat it. We bring our children,

  561. our family two place to a place where we actually

  562. don't want them to be right, and then after that

  563. we cannot bring them out like Lord right. So sometimes

  564. that happens to us, and to think about it is terrible.

  565. And imagine Lord leaving Sawdom was the angel of the Lord,

  566. if you read the whole story, was chasing them and

  567. rushing them leave now, leave now, leave now. And then

  568. the angels even grab their hands and try to take

  569. them out of the city because they promised Abraham okay, okay,

  570. so go go go. Then Lord and his wife and

  571. the two daughters. And Lord tried to call his married

  572. daughters and his sons in law, but they didn't believe him,

  573. all right, So and then they left, and sadly the

  574. wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. Right,

  575. So I wonder how Lord had felt at that time.

  576. He knew when God rained down brimhail and brimstone and

  577. all upon the city, that his family will all perish.

  578. What was happening to his mind at that time? So

  579. it's just as sometimes as parents, I'm just like side tracking.

  580. We say we come to church because all of our children,

  581. so we choose to come to church. We want to

  582. come to church, Oh yeah, because my children wants to

  583. come to church. Or I think this church is good

  584. for my children. So a church is good for your children,

  585. but not good enough for you. So you expect your

  586. children to grow up loving the Lord and serving the Lord,

  587. and you do not need to love the Lord and

  588. serve the Lord. Out, Isn't it okay? Some things for

  589. us to think about, all right? So let us not

  590. be like Lord, because we live to regret it eternally. Amen.

  591. Back to the principle, all right, Okay, wish I was

  592. trying to say. God relented. He said he will spare

  593. the city even if there were ten righteous men. God

  594. will spare a complete city. And that proportion is still

  595. true today. Ten grains of salt, like no one grain

  596. is so small, right, Ten grains of salt can command

  597. a whole service to God. And our business is to

  598. be such that we commend this earth to God. Meaning

  599. our presence does make a difference. Imen. Our presence causes

  600. God to deal with the world in a way that

  601. he would not otherwise be able to deal with the world. Imen.

  602. Every single believer, you and I should be a single

  603. grain of salt in his or her particular place. So

  604. your place is different from my place. Only you can

  605. be that grain of salt in the place that God

  606. has called you. And God does not lum all believers

  607. together in one place in it all of us. We

  608. are scattered at our different marketplaces, correct right, And we

  609. are all not together except when we come together to

  610. worship the Lord. But we're all scattered in different places.

  611. Just like how we do not put salt one whole

  612. lump of salt into one dish, isn't it It will

  613. taste awful? All we need is a sprinkle salt, and

  614. you and I are that grains of salt in the

  615. places that God has called us to be a man

  616. a man. So every little grain is scattered in some

  617. particular place, and God has put every precious person here,

  618. I believe, in this hall, in this room, in some

  619. particular place, to be that grain of salt in that

  620. particular place, hallelujah. Whether it is your family, whether it

  621. is your office, whether it is your whatever place of

  622. employment you're in, your school, your campus, whatever place that

  623. might be. Now you may say, but joy, I feel

  624. lonely at times because I'm the only grain of salt there. Yes, okay,

  625. but remember we are there to give flavor to the

  626. place which otherwise will have no flavor. Member. When Jesus

  627. say you are the salt of the earth is exclusive.

  628. There's no other salt. Look around you in your workplace,

  629. there's no other salt. You are the salt of the earth. Amen.

  630. And that's what it means. So if we do make

  631. an impact where we live, there's no one else that

  632. will do it right. And that shows that there's something

  633. wrong with us, isn't It means we are salt that

  634. are tasteless. Have you ever tried this as salt? I

  635. have not, because it's salt, correct, Not this a salt is?

  636. I can only imagine send no what abouder? How to

  637. be fas a salt?

  638. Right?

  639. Salt is salt? Okay? So yes, so there is something

  640. wrong that means it's not salt anymore. But we are

  641. called to be the thought immen imen. So if people

  642. can carry on their lives and much jump it doesn't

  643. matter whether we are there or not, then may be

  644. something not so right. Okay, ah, So we've got to

  645. get this right. And today I believe the Lord is

  646. speaking to you and I not the condemnation, but with

  647. his encouragement from his word today affirming us of our

  648. role and our calling immen Harley loujjah. Now, so that's

  649. a second function of salt we know so first one

  650. is a disinfectant. Secondly its flavor, so is also a preservative.

  651. We all know that, right, So, long before the days

  652. of refrigeration, we use salt to preserve meat, right, Okay,

  653. that's what we do. Why because salt has the effect

  654. of holding back the forces of corruption so that the

  655. meat will not turned bad. So we are like that

  656. we are the salt of the earth. We are here

  657. to hold back the forces of corruption, and so long

  658. as we are on the earth, the forces of evil, godlessness,

  659. rebellent corruption that are at work shall never be allowed

  660. to come to its fullness. Do you know that we

  661. have a place to play in this world that God

  662. has called us because we are here to arrest and

  663. to hold back the forces of corruption in the society

  664. that we live in. And we are responsible whether we

  665. like it or not. Because God said, we are the

  666. salt of the earth. So like I said, if we

  667. are not our job like okay, okay, so we are

  668. in our presence, doesn't commendate earth to God as it

  669. doesn't cause got to act differently to the world. Then,

  670. like I said, there's something that we need to check

  671. our hearts even this morning. Amen. So we do not

  672. want to be sought that loses its flavor. We want

  673. to be sought that is doing its job salty, not

  674. saltless or tasteless. Because why because Jesus said, then you

  675. become whate in verse the thing not I say, I

  676. remember Amory, we read the verse you become good for

  677. a good for nothing. So this is the time that

  678. you can say this, okay, cannot say to one another.

  679. I cannot all right, I cannot cannot say no, no, no, no no.

  680. But Jesus said that we will be. So if we

  681. don't want to be good for nothing, then we better

  682. do something now, Okay, okay, because it's Jesus say one,

  683. you'll be good for nothing, Oh my goodness. But to

  684. be thrown out and read carefully trembled under foot by who?

  685. By men? Not by God? No God, God trample personal

  686. But it's by men. Do you know that there are

  687. the world out there. They just want to trample the church,

  688. you know, and bring down the name of God and

  689. the name of the Church. So that's why we do

  690. not want to be dead. Hallelujah. Amen. So church, Now,

  691. as we draw to a close, and I'm drawing to

  692. a close right now, again, let's return to Matthew chapter five,

  693. verse thirteen to sixteen. And I think it's important when

  694. we read these words of Jesus, we need to say

  695. it in a way that we say that I am

  696. the solt of the earth, all right, because we are

  697. reading it like Jesus is telling us. Man. So now

  698. you read it the word of Jesus's words to yourself.

  699. Can we all do that together? Can Church? So let's

  700. do that together. For example, in verse thirteen, when Jesus

  701. said you are the salt of the earth, let's read

  702. it as I am the sort of the earth. Okay,

  703. can we do that? Let's do it verse thirteen. I

  704. am the sword of the earth. But if the salt

  705. loses its flavor, how shall be its season? It is

  706. then good for nothing but to be thrown out and

  707. trampled under foot by men. I am the light of

  708. the world. A city that is set on a hue

  709. cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamb and

  710. put it under a basket. But on a lamb stand

  711. and it gives light to all who are in the house.

  712. Let your light so shine before men, that they may

  713. see your good works and glorify our Father in Have

  714. an hallelujah.
