  1. You're listening to a message to go from ex Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. Philippians, Chapter one. I gave you the context. Ready, right, Okay?

  4. Are you there?

  5. Philippi and chapter one? Okay, I'm reading from the NLT version.

  6. I don't know whether Daniel, you're able to project, but

  7. it's okay if you don't write so NLT.

  8. Philippians Chapter one. This letter is from Paul and Timothy.

  9. So it's a letter from a father and a spiritual son.

  10. Slaves of Jesus Christ. Wow, slaves, that's how they call themselves.

  11. Do you consider yourself a slave?

  12. No? We call us as servants. But slave is too much.

  13. You mean you want me to be slave? Do you

  14. wash your toilet every day? Okay? This is a position,

  15. he says.

  16. Is I am writing to all of God's holy people?

  17. Wow? All you know?

  18. In other versions, he says, the saints of God. So

  19. can I turn to your neighbor and say hello, saint? Yes,

  20. and that is who you are. If you are a

  21. believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are a saint

  22. because that's your identity in God. Amazing right, wowes off

  23. to a very good start. Okay, I'm writing to all

  24. of God's holy people or saints in Philippi who belong

  25. to Christ Jesus, including the elders and the deacons. So leaders,

  26. this is for you as well. May God, our Father

  27. and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and grace

  28. and peace. Do you know that when I was in Nepal, right,

  29. one of the greetings that they have for us is

  30. grace and peace nice. Right, instead of just saying hey,

  31. good morning, straightway, grace and peace nice?

  32. I like that.

  33. Grace and peace according to scripture. Right, God, grace and

  34. peace be upon you. Okay, let's move on verse three.

  35. Every time I think of you, So this is Paul

  36. writing to the church in Philippi.

  37. Every time I think of you, I give thanks to

  38. my God. Wow.

  39. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of

  40. you with joy, for you have been my partners in

  41. spreading the good news about Christ from the time you

  42. first heard it until now. And I am certain that God,

  43. who began the good work within you, will continue his

  44. work until it is finally finished on the day when

  45. Christ Jesus returns.

  46. Amen. Amen, Let's continue on.

  47. So it is right that I should feel as I

  48. do about all of you.

  49. For you have a special place in my heart.

  50. Wow, you share with me the special favor of God,

  51. both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the

  52. truth of the good News. God knows how much I

  53. love you and long for you with the tender compassion

  54. of Christ. Jesus, I pray that your love will overflow

  55. more and more, and that you keep on growing in

  56. knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what

  57. really matters.

  58. Church.

  59. Listen, am, what really matters, so that you may live

  60. pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return.

  61. May you always be filled.

  62. With the fruit of your salvation, the righteous character produced

  63. in your life by Jesus Christ.

  64. For this will bring much glory and praise to God. Amen.

  65. Amen, I want to stop there for a bit and

  66. unpack that a little bit now. Can you see that.

  67. This letter is full of the good stuff right, all

  68. the positive feelings.

  69. There is so much thankfulness and I love how elther

  70. terans let us in our prayer for Malais, let's come

  71. with thanksgiving.

  72. In our hearts. Are you thankful this morning? What are

  73. you thankful for? Name it? One by one?

  74. Because there's so much to be thankful for. So my

  75. title for this message is this. You know, are you

  76. a joyful disciple?

  77. Because we can.

  78. Go around being the most papia faced disciple anyone can see, and.

  79. That is not God's heart at all. Are you joyful

  80. or not? Is there a spring in your step this morning? Right?

  81. Are you? Are you all flowing with the joy of

  82. God this morning? The first song that we sang and

  83. I think it.

  84. Was really led by the Lord. Joy of the Lord

  85. is my strength? And what does that even mean?

  86. Right?

  87. It's not just a feeling that you have. It's a assurance.

  88. Assurance not based on your circumstances, and assurance.

  89. Based on what God has done for us. Amen. So good.

  90. You know that when you have the joy of the Lord, right,

  91. nothing in this world can phase you, Nothing in this

  92. world can knock you off. Like today I feel like

  93. I'm happy, or tomorrow I'm not happy. That's not joy,

  94. you know, that's just a happy feeling. Because when you're happy,

  95. and you can be unhappy. But all those are based

  96. on external things. This joy comes from within. And you

  97. know what this letter is written from prison? Remember I

  98. told you the story that because the business people didn't

  99. like Paul casting out the demon from the clairvoyant girl.

  100. What did they do?

  101. They brought accusations against Paul. And now Paul is in prison.

  102. What kind of letters would you write from prison?

  103. Please? Help me get a petition.

  104. Set me for a bail, quick, help me? Right, those

  105. are probably the letters you're thinking, Oh, why me? Why

  106. you know these people also bad? Or why put me

  107. in prison? I didn't do anything wrong. Actually you didn't

  108. do anything wrong, right, whoah, oh my? All these bad

  109. people in my life, you know, But this letter has

  110. nothing like that.

  111. It's like, I praise my God.

  112. I think when I think about the church, I'm filled

  113. with thanksgiving and joy. Well, enjoy is something that you

  114. can see evident in this letter, in the whole letter, right,

  115. and it comes from that, how cana? What is it

  116. about you, Paul that gives you so much joy? So

  117. we want to learn, amen, We want to learn now.

  118. The first thing, the first thing that we can see,

  119. what is Paul so joyful about?

  120. Right?

  121. There are three things that I can pick up from

  122. the Letter of the Philippians, and the first one is this.

  123. Let's move on to the next slide. Paul's heart of Joy.

  124. Okay, letter to the Philippians, We've got this already. Let's

  125. move on joy.

  126. Okay, Where did his joy come from? What is the

  127. source of his joy? Can you think about what could

  128. be the source of your joy?

  129. What is it? Is it? Cat? Yeah?

  130. Okay, is very funny because I was talking to princess

  131. and then what gave us so much joy was being

  132. a cat mom. Okay, if you don't know what that

  133. is me, she's mom to cats. That's one source of joy?

  134. What else? What else gives you joy? Food? Okay? How

  135. many of you love food? Here? You enjoy food? Yes? Yes,

  136. I know? Yeah, so food gives you joy? What else

  137. gives you joy? Holidays? Okay? So when there is no holiday,

  138. then all of you got no more joy? Right? So

  139. when the food is bad and it's late and you're angry,

  140. there's no more joy in you? Right?

  141. Can you see how sickle we are as Christians? Is

  142. that what God wants of us? That's that's a hard

  143. question to ask. If let's say somehow that day my

  144. friend you know, didn't forgot my birthday. Alama, that's the

  145. worst thing gone.

  146. No more friends really, no more friends for life? Right?

  147. What causes us to have joy? Uh, And what is

  148. the secret to Paul's joy?

  149. And so you can see now it's not based on

  150. external circumstances, it's an internal one.

  151. So let's move on. Let's move on. What is the

  152. first part of Paul's Joe's first one?

  153. So I tital it as joy is possible even in prison. Correct,

  154. think about it, if you're in some sort of prison.

  155. I know many of you you're not in prison, obviously

  156. you're here, but some of us could be.

  157. In some prison. In our minds and in our hearts.

  158. There are some traps right in our lives, circumstances that.

  159. We cannot change. But I want to tell you that

  160. it's possible to have joy.

  161. The first one is because of this the apostle.

  162. Paul was joyful because of the support that he's been

  163. given by the church. Do you know that some of us,

  164. right when we go on a mission trip, we have

  165. to raise our own funding.

  166. You know that?

  167. And in those days, do you think how did Paul

  168. raise funding for his own mission trip?

  169. He worked.

  170. He was called a tan maker, so he actually made

  171. tends to sell. That's what a ten maker is. He

  172. literally made tens and then half the time he goes

  173. on preaching and the other half of the time he's

  174. making tends to sell to support him. But it was

  175. the only one church, which is the church in Philippi,

  176. that actually sent him monetary support.

  177. Do you know that?

  178. So, church, you know, when we give into missions, when

  179. we give into our Titan offering, that's what we do.

  180. We are sending people out to do the work right.

  181. And so this is good and it's worthy, and that's

  182. that's Paul's joy. You know, it's like, Wow, I don't

  183. expect this of you, but I commend this because this

  184. is good for you. He's not He's not saying that

  185. I need your money, you know, He's saying it's good

  186. that you give, because giving is an exercise of faith.

  187. Amen.

  188. So that's number one. Number two, let's move on to

  189. what else is.

  190. The source of Paul's joy? Okay?

  191. So number one, you remember when you read in verse seven,

  192. it says you share with me the special favor of

  193. God both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming.

  194. The truth of the Good News.

  195. Do you know that the source of the joy from

  196. Paul is because he said, you, guys, when you give

  197. to me, you're saying Continue on, Paul, continue on preaching.

  198. It doesn't matter whether you're in prison or not. Continue on.

  199. You are support to me. Now I want to backtrack

  200. a little bit. Right, Let's go to verse Where's this

  201. a special place in my heart?

  202. Okay, let's go to verse five. Go back to verse five.

  203. It says that some of your versions will read this

  204. for you have been in fellowship with me?

  205. Yes? Do you see that? Now?

  206. This word fellowship, right, I want to just talk a

  207. little bit about this because our idea of fellowship, right

  208. is tea time with biscuits, it's coffee time, it's express

  209. all time.

  210. Fellowship right.

  211. Fellowship means supper after homes or dinner before home.

  212. That's fellowship.

  213. But do you know that's really shallow because the original

  214. word of this word fellowship is koinonia. Do you know

  215. what cornonia is? Have you heard of it before? I

  216. never mind. It's a Greek word. You learn one Greek

  217. word today, kinonia?

  218. Say h okay? Quinonia?

  219. In another word, it's not just fellowship or friendship, it's partnership.

  220. Do you know that?

  221. And partnership means I have a share, I am contributing

  222. to something. So when we talk about church, fellowship. Right,

  223. it's not talking about having a meal together. It's talking

  224. about are you partners in this work?

  225. And that's why in acts we.

  226. Don't call people, you know, we don't call our members members.

  227. We call you partners because you soul and you believe

  228. in together with the vision of the church. Right, we

  229. are in partnership together when you give your partnering the work.

  230. You know that right when you serve, you're partnering the

  231. work of God. And that's how deep koinonia is and

  232. coidonia is, like saying right, the word they actually use

  233. is for simus twins. You know what Siamu's twins is

  234. twins They are joined together. Right, Maybe they have two

  235. hats but one body. And it's saying that if you

  236. split the coin onia, both will die. If you split

  237. fellowship in church in the truest sense of the meaning,

  238. if you split.

  239. Partners, the church will die. Serious one.

  240. Do you know why I say this is because churches

  241. die more from internal fights than external fights.

  242. I am saying it as it is.

  243. I'm gonna be real and honest with you because remember

  244. what we're trying to tackle, dealing with difficult people and

  245. tell your neighbor You're not difficult, You're not difficult. Honestly,

  246. we're all difficult, right, Honestly, we're all difficult. Lah A, Yo,

  247. don't lie to yourself. Okay, okay, okay, so so so,

  248. but you see what gives Paul knowing that people are difficult,

  249. and what gives him the satisfaction and the joy is

  250. knowing that it doesn't matter about you anymore, guys, because

  251. it's not about you.

  252. What matters to Paul is that Christ is preached.

  253. Amen, let's go to that. So partnership in the Gospel

  254. and preaching Christ. I want to read verse twelve. Let's go,

  255. and I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters,

  256. that everything that has happened to me, which is him

  257. being in prison, has helped to spread the.

  258. Good news.

  259. For everyone here, including the whole palace. God knows that

  260. I'm in chains because of Christ and because of my imprisonment,

  261. most of the believers here have gained confidence and boldly

  262. speak God's message without fear. And it goes on to

  263. say some are preaching out of jealousy and rivalry, and

  264. some are preaching out of honesty. It doesn't matter that

  265. Paul says it doesn't matter whether their motives are false

  266. or genuine. This is in verse eighteen, and he says,

  267. either ways, the message about Christ is being preached. And

  268. so I readjoice, I rejoice, and I will continue to rejoice,

  269. for I know that as you pray for me and

  270. the spirit of Jesus helps me, this will lead to

  271. my deliverance.

  272. Amen.

  273. Do you know that the Book of Philippines has many

  274. quotes that we all like to quote, but you just

  275. don't know that it's from here? Another one that is

  276. very famous. I'm gonna read on it says right verse

  277. twenty one, chapter one. For to me, living means living

  278. for Christ, and dying is even better.

  279. You know.

  280. The NKJV version says, for to me, to live is

  281. Christ and to die is gain.

  282. Wow, you'll know that. Excellent. It's from Philippines.

  283. Is written by Paul, and he's writing from prison, and

  284. he's saying what to me every day I live? Now,

  285. it's only for Christ. Actually, I read to die, Paul says,

  286. I read to die because dying is gained to him

  287. is profitable.

  288. Why, because he's gonna be with Jesus. Do you long

  289. to be with Jesus or not? Yes?

  290. I think as you get on in life, the more

  291. the more you long to be with Jesus, you know,

  292. because the more challenging people you have to deal with,

  293. and you go, ah, enough, I just want to go

  294. back with Jesus.

  295. It's better to be with Jesus. Yeah, but you know

  296. what he says. Okay, I'm not I'm not making this up.

  297. This is just reading from the word. He says.

  298. But if I live, right, So Paul is resigning this

  299. is his mine, he says, But if I live, I

  300. can do more for Christ. Yes, I know it's better

  301. that I go and be with Jesus forget all this

  302. problem and all these difficult people. But he says, but

  303. if I live, I can do more fuful work for Christ.

  304. So can you see his heart?

  305. He's saying, I don't want to be here when actually,

  306. but I think I can get more things done here

  307. being alive. So I really don't know which is better

  308. for I'm torn between two desires. I long to go

  309. and be with Christ, WHI should be far better for me,

  310. But for your sakes, it is better that I continue

  311. to live.

  312. Wow. Amen, I wonder if that's our perspective in life?

  313. Do we one? Do we long to be with Jesus,

  314. you know, you know.

  315. So there's this saying, are you eager to be with

  316. Jesus but willing to stay back?

  317. Or are you willing to be with Jesus or and

  318. eager to stay back? Think about it.

  319. Okay, I give you a riddle, a la. Are you

  320. willing to be with Jesus but you're.

  321. Eager to be here? That's number one?

  322. Or are you eager to be with Jesus but willing

  323. to be here?

  324. Which one? Are you? Second one? Because that's Paul's mind.

  325. He is eager to be with Jesus, but I'm willing

  326. to stay back. Many of us are willing to go. Ah, yeah, okay, life,

  327. it's time, then I go. But we are more eager

  328. to stay on earth because there's so many things you

  329. want to do, new cafes to try, places to travel to.

  330. Haven't seen the world yet, right.

  331. We are eager. We're like, hey, there's so much going

  332. on for me in life. But Paul's mindset was different.

  333. He says, yes, as I'm here, but I'm not here

  334. for pleasures. You know, what is it here for? To

  335. do the work? For full labor? That's his mindset.

  336. I wonder if all of us, if we say we

  337. are true disciples of Jesus Christ, we would think about

  338. our life that way, that every day now that as

  339. I live here on earth, I'm doing full labor for

  340. the Lord. It's just that, right, because why God gets

  341. the glory you read that earlier. God gets glory when

  342. you do fruitful labor for him. And it's not so

  343. much that, oh, so that I can enjoy pleasures in life. Yes,

  344. God will grant you pleasures in life. That is also

  345. something to be thankful for.

  346. Right, but that's not the the all and be all

  347. and and all the end all is like Jesus, I

  348. long to be with you because it is far better.

  349. Okay, now let's move on. Let's move on. I want

  350. to cover this because this is so so important. Now

  351. let's move on to verse twenty seven. We're gonna cover

  352. a lot of scriptures today because you know it's so good.

  353. So he's saying that this joy that he has is

  354. because Christ is being preached and all that. So let's

  355. read this. Above all, he says all these things. You know,

  356. it's good that you learn to live like me. It

  357. is better to be with you. And he says above all,

  358. you must live as citizens of heaven. Are you citizens

  359. of heaven? But not sure what it looks like? Right,

  360. So he says, what this means is to conduct yourself

  361. in a manner worthy of the good news about Christ.

  362. Then whether I come and see you again, I will

  363. know that you are standing together with one spirit and

  364. one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the

  365. good news.

  366. This is what I'm saying.

  367. You know, too many times we get caught up living

  368. as citizens on earth fighting each other.

  369. Yeah, we're fighting. I don't like this. I don't like that.

  370. You know, the band was off today. I don't know.

  371. Whatever it is.

  372. As long as you have contact with another person, that's

  373. bound to be disagreement. It's bound to be. Hello, we're

  374. all humans, are Christian or not. You were bound to

  375. have conflicts, disagreements. It's bound to happen. Why, because we

  376. are imperfect beings. We are broken beings. And that's why.

  377. The good news is we have a savior, a savior

  378. that came two thousand years ago to come so that

  379. he can redeemers from ourselves, from our sinfulness, from our brokenness.

  380. And God says, I'm transforming you into.

  381. A new being. Amen, We are not there yet. Hello, folks.

  382. No matter how good the person is, we are not

  383. there yet. But the good news is we are being

  384. transformed and changed and we are growing.

  385. And that's what of Paul's joy.

  386. He's like, yes, you guys are growing and that's good, right,

  387. we celebrate that. We're not aiding perfection, but progress. Imen,

  388. Tell your neighbor are you progressing?

  389. Really? No? Serious? Have you believed more than last week?

  390. Have you served more than last week? Oh? Yes? Then

  391. next week less? All right? Got your off schedule? No?

  392. No, it's a good hard check for us to say,

  393. are we really growing in our spirit? Are we growing

  394. in our faith or not?

  395. Because if this becomes just a routine for you, then

  396. you will spiritually die.

  397. And once you die, that's it, right, But never mind,

  398. God can revive you also, amen, Amen, God can revive you.

  399. All right.

  400. So it says, but you you know, what is this

  401. about conducting yourself worthy of the manner? What is this

  402. conducting yourself worthy of the manner? What is it like

  403. to be a.

  404. Citizen in heaven?

  405. It says, When we stand together, hello, are we united

  406. or not?

  407. Right? Are we one?

  408. He says, we stand together with one spirit? And one

  409. purpose some translations says one accord. We need to fight together.

  410. Church. We don't fight each other. We fight together for

  411. the faith. Amen. We fight together for the faith. Amen.

  412. He says in verse twenty nine. For you have not

  413. only give.

  414. For you have been given not only the privilege of

  415. trusting in Christ. Many of us they believe, believe, we believe, right,

  416. let's trust in God, but also the privilege of suffering

  417. for him. Oh, how many of you can think of

  418. suffering as a privilege?

  419. A Noah. You know. Sometimes a prayer is like, Lord,

  420. remove my suffering, remove this person from my life. Are

  421. you right? If not, I will remove myself. But pouls

  422. is to suffer for Christ. It's a privilege. Wow.

  423. So now you can look at your suffering and say, Wow, God,

  424. you allow me to suffer. You allow me to go

  425. through this pain, this brokenness.

  426. It's a privilege. You know why, Because our Lord Jesus

  427. Christ himself suffered. Do you know if you say we

  428. really follow our lot?

  429. Right, He's a man marked with suffering. And that's how

  430. the beauty of the Gospel is. He did not just

  431. sit up high in the throne of heavens. I say, okay,

  432. you do this, you do this, You'll do this right?

  433. And sometimes like, okay, you must worship me. And then

  434. I give you all the commandments you might just obey.

  435. And the good people, some of you know, the religions

  436. of this world, will teach that right. Okay, do well

  437. and behavior. But the beauty about the Gospel is God himself,

  438. Jesus as fully the son of God.

  439. He came down to earth right and suffered for us.

  440. And let's go now in to the crux of the letter,

  441. which is, how do we count.

  442. Suffering as a privilege? How do we do this? How

  443. can we do this? Chapter two gives you the answer.

  444. Are you ready God? Chapter two? Okay?

  445. So it starts off by saying this, is there any

  446. encouragement from belonging to Christ?

  447. Amen? Are you encouraged or not that you belong to Christ? Okay?

  448. Some of you? Yes?

  449. Any comfort from His love? Have you received comfort from

  450. His love? Any fellowship or coinonia or partnership.

  451. Together in the spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Ah?

  452. This is really, really, really deep. Then make me truly happy.

  453. And another version says, complete my joy, Complete my joy

  454. by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other what you ask me

  455. to agree with each other, loving another and working together

  456. with one mind and one purpose.

  457. Do you know this one last thing? Right?

  458. It's probably one of the prayers of Jesus that it

  459. has not been fully answered yet, because if you look

  460. at the churches today, are we united?

  461. Maybe far from it? Right? Even within one church? Are

  462. we united?

  463. Had to say, until you're being tested. I know we

  464. can say yeah, yeah, one, but until you're tested, then

  465. you say, oh no, this one not for mela. Let

  466. me go to another place. Let me look for this

  467. one thing. You know one of the verse, you know,

  468. one of the phrase that the Holy Spirit drop on me.

  469. And I'm like praying, like God, shall I share this

  470. or not? But he says, just say, okay, are you

  471. ready for it? So one of the quotes that the

  472. Holy Spirit gave me was this, And I don't know

  473. whether actual we can help me with this. If you're

  474. looking for a friend in this place, you may or

  475. you may not find it. But if you're looking for faith,

  476. this is the place. Think about that. Some of us

  477. come to different settings looking for community, looking for friendship, right,

  478. and sometimes you're like, I cannot find community here. Let

  479. me look for community somewhere else. But do you know

  480. that the church is not built on community. The church

  481. is built on faith. So you can be here and

  482. you might think that, yeah, it's been difficult finding my community.

  483. Yeah it's true, right, But if you're looking for faith,

  484. this is the place because church is in the business

  485. of faith.

  486. It's here every time.

  487. We are not in the business of making you feel

  488. just like welcome and walm Yes, that's all part and

  489. parcel of it.

  490. But the most important thing that we want to give

  491. you is faith. Faith believing that next tomorrow when you

  492. go and meet different challenging people, you have more faith

  493. because you say, God, you are with me.

  494. And I have joy because my joy is not based

  495. on what you say to me. My joy is because

  496. what God has done for me. I'm safe, I'm redeemed.

  497. You know I have a place in heaven, citizens of heaven.

  498. So why I let all these small petty things rob

  499. me of my joy? Do you know? That's what the

  500. devil does.

  501. He puts all these conflicts, disagreements in the church.

  502. So that it robs you of your joy. That's what

  503. the devil does. Steals, kills and destroy your joy.

  504. If you are not joyful nowaday, you say I need

  505. to take back Terrectorymen, come on, I need to take

  506. by my joy, because the joy of the Lord is

  507. my salvation, Amen is my strength.

  508. The joy.

  509. Have you lost the joy of knowing that you have

  510. been saved by our Lord Jesus Christ, a god who

  511. reduces everything that he has.

  512. And let's go now to the word of God. Philippians.

  513. Chapter two.

  514. It says, working together, now this one. I actually the

  515. lot told me to memorize this during the COVID time.

  516. And he says, memorized chapter two.

  517. And I did. And when I did that, I had

  518. to meditate on it. I had to eat the word.

  519. It's hard, you know this versa not very nice, but

  520. very good for the soul. It says this, don't be

  521. selfish first three, Chapter two, Verse three, don't be selfish,

  522. don't try to impress others or in another version, it says,

  523. do not have selfish ambition or vain conceit. Right, that's

  524. some of your version. Be humble, thinking of others better

  525. than yourself. Well, this one I cannot, man, you know why,

  526. because I'm a proud person. I mean I not bad

  527. like right, not bad looking right?

  528. Quite smart?

  529. Also, yeah, yeah, not bad athletics also, right, I mean

  530. I know more, I got double degree, I got now

  531. you know.

  532. There's a lot to like. Whoa? And then working together

  533. with people? Can I tell you they're working with Christians?

  534. You're like why Christian? Also like they are?

  535. You know?

  536. When I first joined full time, right, my husband has

  537. longer been in full time rediala. And then when I

  538. first joined full time, like whoa, why Christians? So that

  539. one corporate people better you know, culture shot hi yo.

  540. And then God's work, you know, came to mind. He says,

  541. be humble, think of others better than yourselves. What I

  542. tell you God, that was really God's work for me,

  543. you know.

  544. And I I took it because I know that I'm.

  545. In the danger of being prideful.

  546. And you know, pride is the first sin in the Bible,

  547. and I'm going to fall into the first sin. And

  548. so I took all of this and say, Okay, I'm

  549. gonna always try to think of others better than themselves,

  550. even though we disagree. No, there must be a pointed

  551. I can see. There must be a perspective. There must

  552. be a reason why you say that. There must be

  553. a different thing that I don't know yet, So I

  554. humble myself and say, okay, INSI want to let her

  555. and then say also my scene nicely right, first four,

  556. don't look out only for your own interests, but take

  557. an interest in others as well. Don't only look at yourselves.

  558. Are we looking at others? Do we look at what's

  559. important to them? And so that's become my motives of

  560. parandi when I'm dealing with difficult people who have to

  561. think of them better than me, you know, and what

  562. is their interests?

  563. Why do they behave that way that they do? Right?

  564. And he says this, you know, you must have the

  565. same attitude that Christ.

  566. Jesus has, and other versions which is a better translation.

  567. He says, you must have the same mind as Christ Jesus.

  568. Yeah, do you want to have a mindset change? People

  569. of God?

  570. Mindset change and have the mind of Christ Jesus. And

  571. this is the verse verse six. Though he was God, Jesus,

  572. Though Jesus was God, he did not think of equality

  573. with God as something to cling to. You know, many

  574. of us cling to our positions of titles. All right,

  575. my experience, I'm in this twenty years already. What do

  576. you know he did not cling to it Verse seven. Instead,

  577. he gave up his divine privileges. He took the humble

  578. position of a slave and was as a human being.

  579. And when he appeared in human form, he humbled himself

  580. in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on

  581. a cross. This is the gospel, my dear friends. If

  582. you're new to church today and gospel is to you,

  583. I'm telling you the good news is we have a

  584. real God who did not just sit in heaven and

  585. waiting for us to trip up. But he said that

  586. because all of you have sin, you cannot save yourself.

  587. Are you when you're drowning, can you save yourself? Yeah,

  588. if you're drowning, you're like, oh, let me try and

  589. say myself. You know, I can do good works. I

  590. can give money to charity. I can do all these things.

  591. And you will still drown.

  592. And God is in heaven and he says they need

  593. my help. You think about Jesus himself, right, Why would

  594. someone who was only present, omni potent, having all power,

  595. why would he reduce himself to a man? A man

  596. you and I now for three over years already lick pain?

  597. Or okay that my Jesus died editary. He didn't go

  598. through that we identified sufferings with us, pain, betrayal.

  599. Why would Jesus go through the trouble of.

  600. Becoming a man who would experience pain, suffering, betrayal from

  601. the very creatures that he created.

  602. It was because he loved us.

  603. That is the extent. Parents, you will know this a

  604. bit better if you have children. You know to what extent,

  605. to what sacrificed you would give to your children. That

  606. is just a little bit of what Jesus has done

  607. for us, you know, and.

  608. You think about it right.

  609. Firstly, he came not as a semi god or demigod

  610. with power human. Do you know that Jesus had no

  611. power until the Holy Spirit came? A good news for us, meaning,

  612. we have no power as our human form unless the

  613. Holy Spirit comes upon you. Amen, and therefore we can

  614. do our ministry because of the Holy Spirit the power

  615. remember pantacast Sunday, the power of the Holy Spirit. Why

  616. would he choose to be married to be born in

  617. Joseph and Mary's household?

  618. Are they very rich? Were they kings? He chose the

  619. lowliest position.

  620. God had a choice lost right, you got choice on

  621. all which family you want the born in though no

  622. choice lot, sorry, Jesus had a choice, and yet he

  623. still chose the most humble family who did not have anything.

  624. He was born in a manger.

  625. Right, not in.

  626. Prince Court hospital. He chose to be born and he

  627. chose to die. Do you know that Jesus chose to die.

  628. We all cannot control, Ah, you and I, we will

  629. die when God determines it. But Jesus had a choice

  630. because at the cross when he hung there and he.

  631. Was thinking about all of us.

  632. Do you know in Hebrew's Chulth he says for the

  633. joy joy he you mean, Jesus knew joy, for the

  634. joy that was set before him. He endured the cross,

  635. despising the shame.

  636. This is all Jesus.

  637. You know, Jesus knew what joy was. And it wasn't

  638. because hanging on the cross was very fun. It wasn't

  639. because it was you know, he was gonna get recognition.

  640. He was despised, shamed, naked, and that's how they crucify people.

  641. But he said, for the joy that was set before him,

  642. he endured it. What are some of the things that

  643. you need to endure church? That's what carrying your cross means.

  644. Carrying your cross means there are some things. I think

  645. there is a picture that we need to learn.

  646. How to yield, right, j or why joy? The oneness

  647. that Paul was talking about and the yielding and this

  648. is not far from submission. Right.

  649. When you yield, you submit, You submit to the authority,

  650. You submit to God's will, and you submit out.

  651. Of your place of humility.

  652. Amen, that's the only place you can submit. You know

  653. that the only way you can yield is when you

  654. are humble. Am I making this up? I guess not,

  655. Loue right? Because it's in the word of God?

  656. You know?

  657. Is it because I'm more special and better than you know?

  658. It's because I chose to follow. And that's why I

  659. say that. You know, relationships are very very complex. It's

  660. very very difficult making disciples. Wah, so difficult? Well, it's

  661. so difficult, but God has given us the better way,

  662. and this is you know that.

  663. Can you imagine if you.

  664. Still have browsers and dispute with one another, how you're

  665. going to be neighbor with each other in heaven? Hey,

  666. think about it, La, I don't want to be next

  667. to Elder Maible Lah she makes better cakes than me right.

  668. In heaven. No, no, think about it.

  669. Every person that you have complaints against, if this person

  670. believes in Jesus, you will meet him or her in heaven.

  671. You know then, how like, oh, God, you know I cannot.

  672. So God is saying, no, you work it out, now,

  673. you work it now on earth, work out.

  674. And what this is says? He say, says, let's go on.

  675. Therefore God elevated him. And this is another verse that

  676. we always quote, verse nine. Therefore God elevated him to

  677. the place of highest honor. Who is this Jesus and

  678. gave him the name above all other names that at

  679. the name of Jesus, every nation of bow.

  680. Amen. So it does matter. You know who, every niche about,

  681. every tongue confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord. This is

  682. the reality. This is the truth to the glory of

  683. God the Father. Amen. Hallelujah. Are you with me? Ah?

  684. So Church, how do we move on from here?

  685. Verse twelve, it says, it's dear friends, you have always

  686. followed my instructions when I was with you. Wow, are

  687. you gonna follow this instruction or not?

  688. I don't know. I cannot say. Paul can say because

  689. he knows them. He says, dear.

  690. Friends, you have always followed my instructions, and this is

  691. not easy instruction now to always think about each other,

  692. to love them, to think of others better than yourself.

  693. To think of their interests.

  694. And he says this, now that I'm away, it is

  695. even more important work hard to.

  696. Show the result of your salvation. Another version says, work

  697. out your salvation. So guys, for you, you have to work out.

  698. That's it. You have to work out.

  699. You have to work out your salvation obeying God with

  700. deep reverence and fear. Do you know that when you

  701. do this, you're obeying God? And it's as simple as this.

  702. If you do this, you obey God. If you don't

  703. do this, you're this obeying God. I'll put it as

  704. simple as that. For God is working in you, giving

  705. you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

  706. Don't worry, You're not alone. When you depend on the

  707. Holy Spirit. He's the one who's going.

  708. To help you do the right thing. Do you know

  709. at the end of the day, right the letter is

  710. talking about righteousness.

  711. Righteousness? Do we have right living with one another? Do

  712. we have right conduct with one another?

  713. It doesn't matter how the other person treats us when

  714. we answer God, God, I conducted myself worthy of the

  715. gospel wordy God, it's okay. You know Jesus, when you're slept,

  716. he just done the other way. And he says, you

  717. slapt me again. Okay, I turn the other When the

  718. accusers are saying, why don't you defend yourself, he just

  719. kept silent. Hey, Jesus cannot rain down stones and boomstorms

  720. and all these accusers can. But he showed us his way,

  721. his way of humility and submission. And he says, it's okay.

  722. At the end of the day, we will see.

  723. Who's laughing true or not.

  724. So if we take on this attitude and this mindset

  725. of Christ, can you imagine how much better our working

  726. relationship with each other will be? Can you imagine that

  727. a world where everyone is always humble, right, a group

  728. where I'm always thinking about you. No, no, so I'm

  729. thinking about you. It's not about me anymore. This heart

  730. of serving right. And he says this, Wow, this is

  731. not the worse four thing, Luggie. I had to memorize

  732. this right, God told me. So I memorize worse for.

  733. Do everything without complaining, or are aye, shore sure not God?

  734. Is this written in the world of God.

  735. But since the Word of God is you know, setal

  736. means I just have to obela do everything you know,

  737. if you pick up rubbish, okay, no complaining, if I

  738. come early, no complaining, do everything, not everything, not not

  739. some things, Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that

  740. no one can criticize you. Wow, live clear, innocent lives

  741. as children of God, shining like bright lights in the

  742. world full of crooked and perverse people.

  743. Guys, we need to.

  744. Get this right because if you don't get this right outside,

  745. they will look at us and say no different. Now, Christian,

  746. you're also saying like them, or so what what's the difference?

  747. We need to shine.

  748. So that no one can criticize us a man or

  749. conduct worthy of the Gospels, our lives worthy of the

  750. Gospel or not. And he says this verse sixteen whole

  751. firmly to the Word of Life. Then on the day

  752. of Christ written and this is our hope, dear friends,

  753. Christ is coming back, no matter how terrible or challenging

  754. your life is.

  755. Christ is coming back. That is the truth. And when

  756. he comes back, he's gonna bring his judgment and his

  757. grace and his mercy to completion, and then we can

  758. truly rejoice because we will be perfect.

  759. Then, Amen, are you looking to a perfect you? Are

  760. you looking to the perfect you?

  761. I am? I'm like whaw, God, I can't wait until

  762. I'm perfect.

  763. I'm not yet. I'm not yet there. But never mind,

  764. he says. But I will even rejoice. He says in

  765. verse sixteen, its whole firmly to the Word of Life,

  766. that on the day of Christ's return, I will be

  767. proud that I did not run the race in vain

  768. and that.

  769. My work was not useless.

  770. You know things that we do in church right now

  771. is disciple. You know it's not going to be useless,

  772. and God's gonna use it.

  773. Amen, But I will rejoice.

  774. Oh can you see how he's saying verse seventeen, I

  775. will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it

  776. out like a liquid offering to God. Just like your

  777. faithful service is an offering to God. So for everyone

  778. who serves the Lord, thank you. Your faithful service is

  779. an offering to the Lord.

  780. And God is pleased with that.

  781. And I want all of you to share that joy.

  782. Do we have the joy, and yes, you should rejoice

  783. and I will share.

  784. Can you see this letter is full of joy? Is this?

  785. There's not one else was saying, Oh you know, whoe

  786. is me? You're my life is so difficult, there's no more.

  787. This letter is just full of joy, man, because the

  788. joy that was said before Paul was it's I'm bringing

  789. all of you to be more like Christ. And on

  790. the day of Christ written, we will be all stepped

  791. up together in the First Resurrection. Amen, we will stand

  792. before God. And God says, yes, Quan Chin, You're redeemed,

  793. You're justified.

  794. Yeah, Chris, you too, because you continue hanging onto the

  795. faith even though your life is difficult.

  796. Yeah, I know some of your challenges right now. It

  797. is not easy, not easy at all, But yes, you

  798. hang on to the faith. How shall I end this?

  799. I want to invite you to firstly, get a hold

  800. of this letter for yourself.

  801. Read it fully.

  802. It's not long, it's not long, but it's so full

  803. of truth. And you know what's the most important thing?

  804. You apply? Lah? Can you do everything without complaining or

  805. grumbling or not? Can or not? Hartla? Hartla?

  806. That's why you need the Holy Spirit. Right and we

  807. cannot say, ah, yeah, you know, I'm defeated. You know,

  808. the thing about living victoriously is you must have a

  809. mindset of victorious living.

  810. Do you have the mindset on it? Do you have

  811. the mindset of saying, no, Jesus, you have done it all.

  812. I can overcome this, even if it means I have

  813. to eat my words. I will overcome this. It doesn't

  814. matter about you anymore. You know is God, you are

  815. here to show off your glory throue my life, and

  816. the best life that God can use is a humble

  817. It's a broken one. We are all broken people, and

  818. we the more we acknowledge that God, I'm broken, and

  819. that's why I need a savior. I need saying I'm drowning.

  820. I'm drowning. I'm drowning. God.

  821. I meet you as my savior, and Jesus came as

  822. our savior, and therefore we are safe now and we

  823. are working out our salvation.

  824. It's a journey, guys, it's a journey. Amen.

  825. I'm gonna invite the band to come on stage as

  826. I give you a final word of encouragement so you

  827. can read chapter three. It's talking about righteousness. Chapter four,

  828. now this is very interesting, and I wanted to give

  829. you this. Okay, Now why part of the letter, part

  830. of the reason why the letter was written, was because of.

  831. These two ladies, ladies in the church.

  832. Let's read a very real one, you know the letter,

  833. verse chapter four, Verse one. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters,

  834. stay true to the Lord. I love you and long

  835. to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy

  836. and the crown I received from my work.

  837. Now watch verse two.

  838. Now I appeal to you Dea and Syntike, anyone named

  839. Udia and Syntike here.

  840. Tada. Last time I used to have a Yudia. Do

  848. like this?

  849. Right? You think that wha, everything's very good? Right? But

  850. let's see what is the reality.

  851. It says, here, please, because you belong to the Lord,

  852. settle your disagreement?

  853. Are you you see?

  860. is that one purpose? To fight together for? Fight together

  861. for what the faith? Fight together for the faith. If

  862. you want to fight, dear brothers and sisters, can I

  865. Enough of that? That's what the devil wants us to do, right,

  866. spend all our energy, time, sleepless nights thinking.

  867. About the fight. But it's the wrong fight. Why we

  868. fight against each other? We should be fighting together for

  869. the Lord. So this is the final verse. Chapter four.

  879. let your gentleness be known to all. Hey, I think

  880. we can practice some gentleness with each other. Can or

  881. notot practice some gentleness and grace with one another. Remember,

  882. the Lord is coming soon. Don't worry about anything. Now,

  883. this is the verse that we all like to pray.

  884. Don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Tell God

  885. what you need and thank him for all he has done.

  886. Then you experience God's peace, which exceeds anything.

  887. We can understand. His peace.

  888. Will God your heart and minds as you live in

  889. Christ Jesus Amen.

  891. And Now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing, one

  892. final thing, Ah, fix your thoughts on what is true,

  893. honorable and right and pure and lovely and admirable. Think

  894. about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep

  895. putting into practice. All you learn is a practice. Right,

  896. Keep practicing and receive from me everything you heard from
