You're listening to a message to go from ex church.
-
We hope this message will light up your tea.
-
Mat few twenty five, verse one to forty six. So
-
let's read it together, amen. And in case you don't
-
have your Bible, we also have it flesh up on
-
the screen.
-
So here we go. These are the words and the
-
teachings of Jesus.
-
Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten
-
versins who took their lamps and went out to meet
-
the bridegroom.
-
Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
-
Those who were foolish took their lamps, but took know
-
all with them. But the wise took oil in their
-
vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed,
-
they all slumbered and slept, And at midnight the cry
-
was hurt. Behold the bridegroom is coming. Go out to
-
meet him. That all those versions of rose and trimmed
-
their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, give
-
us some of your all, for all the lamps are
-
going out. But the wise answered, saying no, lest that
-
should not be enough for us and you. But go
-
rather to those who sell and buy for yourselves. And
-
while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those
-
who are ready went in with him to the wedding,
-
and the door was shut.
-
Afterward, the other.
-
Versions came also, saying, Lord Lord opened to us. But
-
he answered and said, surely, I said to you, I
-
do not know you watch therefore, for you know neither
-
the day nor the hour in which the sun of
-
men is coming. And everybody say, ouch, ouch, amen, let's
-
keep reading. This is the second example of his gifts.
-
For the King of God is of Heaven. Is like
-
a man traveling to a far country, who called his
-
own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to
-
one he gave five talents, to another two, and to
-
another one to each according to his own ability, and
-
he went on a journey. And then he who had
-
received the five talents went and traded with them and
-
made another five talents. And likewise he who had received
-
two gained two more also. But he who had received
-
one went and dug in the ground and hid his
-
lord's money. And after a long time the lord of
-
those servants came and settled accounts with them. So he
-
who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, Lord,
-
you delivered to me five talents. Look, I've gained five
-
more talents besides them. His lord said to him, well done,
-
good and faithful. Seven, you will faithful over a few things.
-
I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into
-
the joy of your lord. He also, who had received
-
two talents, came and said, Lord, you delivered to me
-
two talents. Look, I have gained two more talents besides them.
-
And He's lod said to him, well done, good and faithful. Seven,
-
you have been faithful over a few things. I will
-
make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy
-
of your lord. That he who had received the one
-
talent came and said, Lord, I knew you to be
-
a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, gathering
-
where you have not scattered seed.
-
And I was afraid and went and hit your talent
-
to the ground.
-
Look there you have what is yours, But it's lord,
-
and said to him, you wicked and lazy servant. You
-
knew that I reap where I'm not sown, and gathered
-
where I have not scattered seed.
-
So you ought to have.
-
Deposited my money with the bankers, and in my coming
-
I would have received back my own with interest, but
-
you didn't. So take the talent from him and give
-
it to him who has ten talents. For to everyone
-
who has more, more will be given, and he will
-
have abundance. But from him who does not have even
-
what he has will be taken away, and cast the
-
unprofitable servant into the outer darkness that will be weeping
-
and gnashing off teeth. Everybody, say, ouch, right, one last ouch?
-
Are you okay? Almost there? Let's cat you reading on.
-
When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and
-
all the holy angels with him, he will sit on
-
the throne of his glory, all the nations will be
-
gathered before him, and he will separate them one from another,
-
as a shepherd devised his sheep from the goats, and
-
he will set the sheep on his right hand and
-
the goats on the left. Then the king will say
-
to those in his right hand, come you, who are
-
blessed of my father inherit the kingdom prepared for you
-
from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry,
-
and you gave me food. I was thirsty, and you
-
gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you
-
took me in. I was naked and you clothed me.
-
I was sick and you visited me. I was in
-
prison and you came to me. Then the righteous will
-
answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry
-
and feed you are thirsty and give you a drink?
-
When did we see what stranger and take you in
-
or naked and clothes you? Or when did we see
-
you sick or imprison and come to you? And the
-
King will answer and say to them, and shortly I
-
say to you in a sma, as you did it
-
to one of the least of these, my brethren, you
-
did it to me. Then he will also say to
-
those on the left hand depart from me. You cursed
-
into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
-
For I was hungry and you gave me no food.
-
I was thirsty, you gave me no drink. I was
-
a stranger. You did not take me in naked, and
-
you did not clothe me sick in prison, you did
-
not visit me.
-
Then they also will answer him, saying, Lord, when did.
-
You see you hungry or thirsty, or stranger, or naked,
-
or sick or in prison and did not minister to you.
-
Then he will answer them, saying, surely I said to you,
-
inasmuch as you did not do it to one of
-
the leaves of these, you did not do it to me.
-
And these will go.
-
Away into everlasting punishment by the righteous, into eternal life.
-
Everybody say ouch, amen. I know some of you were
-
probably struggling to come to treachious.
-
Morning and you're thinking, God, I need some encouragement, let
-
it be good today. And then you came and then
-
this is the scripture that you're confronted with. So maybe
-
you're thinking, on the surface, oh man, what is this. Man,
-
I need to pick me up. I need some encouragement.
-
But as hard sounding as these scriptures are, I do
-
want to encourage you.
-
I do want to lift you up, and I do.
-
Want to see a breakthrough in your life because one
-
thing that we're learning about this is that God loves us,
-
and God loves us so much that he lets us
-
know in advance what he's looking for. You know you
-
have a good teacher, not because the teacher never sets exams.
-
You have a good teacher when the good teacher prepares
-
you for the exam, When the good teacher comes in
-
and the first Dame semester tells you, hey, and of
-
this semester there will be an exam, there will be
-
an assignment. I'm letting you know in advance there will
-
be an exam that will be a simon. That's a
-
good teacher and even better teacher will tell you. And
-
on top of that, these are some of the questions.
-
These are some of the topics you might need to
-
consider a man. How you know you love teachers like that.
-
I'm not sure if the v A teachers are like
-
that or not. But growing up, you know, I didn't
-
go to v A. We didn't have VA when I
-
was growing up. Uh, you know, but you know government
-
school and uh you know, sometimes they're exact times.
-
You know, we'll go to the teacher.
-
It's a female teacher, we'll say chair, you know, because
-
sounds about more more more familiar chure, chure you can
-
give us tips or not help us out. You know,
-
it was a male teacher, say sir, sir can help
-
us out, you know.
-
And but but this.
-
Is Jesus, and Jesus is saying that I love you
-
so much, but and so I don't want you to fail.
-
So I'm letting you know in advance that that these
-
things I'm teaching it matter, these things that I mean
-
parting to you, I want you to catch them, and
-
I want you to do something about it. This whole scripture,
-
this whole chapter is a warning for us not to
-
be complacent, not to be passive.
-
Because I'm not.
-
Sure whether this is a word for our church or
-
just for me, but but I know it's.
-
Nothing from the Lord, and God is saying that.
-
Oftentimes, the problem of Christians is not that we don't
-
know scripture, but when we when we are confronted.
-
By scripture, we go.
-
Like, ah, it's okay, I got time, I'm good, Oh nice,
-
And I don't know what I.
-
Is it about?
-
That Is it because we have heard it so often
-
as come white noise, Or maybe it's a deeper issue.
-
Maybe we become numb. We become numb towards God. And
-
that's what I want to help us overcome today. So
-
if you're taking our notes, the title of message today
-
is called help I feel so numb.
-
Because God doesn't want us to be numb. God doesn't
-
want us.
-
To go through life knowing his word but not doing
-
anything worse, not being transformed by it. In every one
-
of these encounters. These are people who knew God. Some
-
knew him as the bridegroom, some knew him as Master,
-
some knew him as the Son of Men.
-
The King of kings.
-
They would come in glory, but despite knowing him, they
-
didn't allow his words to transform them.
-
Their lives were not changed by his word.
-
Instead, they were kind of like, you know, I don't know, complacent.
-
They were a little bit, you know, numb. Maybe all
-
these preaching has become white noise.
-
And I don't know about you, but but I don't
-
want that for you. I hope that nobody is coming
-
to church today, just going through the motions. I hope
-
that nobody is here today because somebody forced you to come.
-
But even if they.
-
Forced you to come, I pray that you will experience
-
God right here, right now. I pray that all of
-
us here will will begin to enter in because guess what.
-
Now we're at the annual September and we're essentially entering
-
in the last quarter.
-
Those of us who are in finances.
-
You will ze oh noq far is coming and God
-
doesn't want us to finish the year being numb.
-
God wants us to go out in the bang. God
-
wants us to finish well.
-
Turn to your neighbor, says, finish well, and we need
-
how do we finish well?
-
By allowing God's word to challenge us again?
-
Amen, some of us here, you know we are I
-
don't know, like we're like the Ten versions that of
-
ancient cultural contact, the Ten Virgins, you know, they they were,
-
you know, lack of bed. They were like the bridal party.
-
You know, they were like the bridesmaid. And back then,
-
you know, in ancient times there was no cars, no trains,
-
no planes.
-
No ways, so your eta is not fixed and you
-
would come by food by caravan, you know, in in chariot,
-
in carriage, and sometimes you know the road there will
-
be I don't know, a tree fall down, and then
-
the journey is delayed.
-
There might be raiders, and then you need to do
-
some fighting and then defend your treasure. And then there's
-
some delay. A person's donkey might have I don't know,
-
falling through well, and the charot is stuck, so there
-
is some delay. And so back then, what's very common
-
was that people go like, hey, the wedding will be
-
that weekend. They'll tell you a wedding hopefully will be sundown,
-
you know, on Wednesday, they'll.
-
Tell you, you know, but.
-
And then the expectation is for all of us to
-
be okay, okay, cool, we'll remember, so we'll do our things.
-
But the moment we hear the crime, we will get
-
ourselves ready to get dressed up and go. The whole
-
village will together, we'll celebrate with you. And so this
-
was a bridal party that knew of the custom, but
-
despite knowing, they they didn't prepare themselves.
-
Friends, how many of us here?
-
You know, you know the word of God, but you
-
just been hearing When was the last time you allow
-
God's word to come alive and breathe and change you.
-
What was the last time you were cut by God's
-
word or allowed yourself to be cut by God's word?
-
Amen? Or some of us here, maybe we are like.
-
The the servants, and you know, what you have is
-
a I don't know, you know, complacent. Maybe it's a
-
prospective issue with the Master. But God is also saying
-
to us, you know, without complicating it, it's as simple
-
as this car saying that all of us we have
-
something to give, and He has enabled us to have
-
that thing, you know, in the first service, I had
-
to explain to them oprahri and Free. Everybody here understand
-
Operah and Free because something jen Z a am or
-
like Oprah Who Anyway, So there's this daytime talk show
-
in America. She's retired now this amazing interviewer. Her name
-
is oprob and Free and it's an amazing fun talk show.
-
They have a lot of celebrity gas and stuff like
-
that in the old.
-
Days when people we used to watch TV.
-
Uh.
-
But she's also.
-
Known for giving away gifts and so one of her
-
most infamous episodes was that all the the studio audiences
-
were all surprised with a car, all of them that
-
they thought they were going for studio taping, but they walked.
-
Away, each of them having a car.
-
And it was this classic moment of like, you know
-
they were they were, you know, giving out one lucky
-
card that's a car.
-
And then they go like, but it's not just you.
-
Everybody check under your seats.
-
And as they checked under the seas, they go like,
-
oh this, everybody stop fighting, this is a key. There's
-
a key, and then open we had this no no, now,
-
it's like famous was saying you get a car. You
-
get a car. Everybody gets a car, and the camera pans
-
and everybody's like, no crazy. And Jesus was the first
-
opera win free. You know, he was the one that says,
-
you get a talent, You'll get a talent. Everybody get
-
a talent. But then God is saying, what are you
-
doing with that?
-
And I gave you.
-
What are you doing with the opportunity? I'm letting you
-
know that I'm gonna come back. What how are you
-
gonna wait for me to come back? With perseverance? Like
-
the five wise ones, all in foolishness, Like the five
-
foolish ones who didn't pack oil. They knew that the
-
bragroom will be delayed, but they didn't pack. Oh maybe
-
the I think got time. I think I can rely
-
on somebody else's all. I can borrow a little bit,
-
Canla Candler? And are we going through church like that?
-
Borrowing somebody else's faith, borrowing somebody else's faithfulness, you know,
-
building our faith on somebody else. What are we doing
-
with the resources and opportunities that God has given us?
-
You know, maybe some of us here, you know, don't
-
don't don't get fixated or five do I have five
-
that have two that I have one, all of us
-
on basic we have one with one life, with one life,
-
one shot, one opportunity. And this is again not f
-
on minem, but this is from the word of God.
-
And what are you gonna do with that one shot,
-
one life, one opportunity?
-
What are you gonna do with it?
-
And Jesus is letting you know in advance, I'm gonna
-
settle accounts with you. I'm gonna ask you about that one.
-
And someone say, with five what's that five that five
-
years in Uni, that five years in that particular school,
-
that five years in that company?
-
What do you do with that five years your company?
-
Do you just enrich yourselves or did you live for
-
the glory of God? Because that's what they did.
-
They went in with what God gave them and then
-
they maultiplied it.
-
They grew it.
-
Friends, the five years that God has given you in
-
that Uni, the five years that God's given you in
-
that school, the five years that God has given you
-
in that company, are you growing that opportunity or are
-
you just I don't know, using as a stepping stone.
-
The two that God gave you could be the two
-
people that your meant to impact the two neighbors, one
-
on the left, one on the right, And one day
-
God's God's gonna ask what did you do? Did you
-
grow the opportunity or did you just bury it? You see,
-
we should be reading this and being afraid. We should
-
be reading this and and and having a heart check.
-
And yet the problem is many times we become numb
-
for whatever reason we've lost it that God doesn't want
-
us to stay lost.
-
Amen. God wants us to come back to him. God
-
wants us to be revived. Amen.
-
You know some of us here we are like, I
-
don't know the the the goats, and I don't mean
-
the greatest of all times. But in God's kingdom it's not.
-
The goats are not good and and and the goats
-
are people that they hear God's work, but they're not
-
transformed by it. You see, Jesus is by no means
-
saying that we are saved by all charitable good works.
-
But he is saying that I am looking for fruits
-
and and and and.
-
If you say that you're my follower.
-
Yet when you walk past somebody who is sick, who
-
is broken, who's naked, who's in despair, and you can.
-
Just walk past them.
-
And justifying your heart that they don't deserve your help.
-
Then Jesus, then you're actually not one of mine.
-
Then whatever gospel you heard, whatever faith you have, that's
-
just membership to a church. That's not salvation, because real
-
salvation will resout in fruits.
-
The first thing that happens, friends, when you get.
-
Safe is that you realize it's not about you his
-
thing about it.
-
You can ask anyone the kid.
-
That just gave is life to Jesus and nice kids,
-
or the teenager or the campers student, or just even
-
I don't know, somebody giving their lives to Jesus on
-
their deathbed. They'll realize that it's not about me. I
-
realized now that I've squandered my life, I wasted my
-
opportunity because it's about Jesus and helping people to know
-
Him and encounter him. The greatest price in my life
-
is not more money. It's not me, it's not my comfort.
-
It's about knowing Him and being known by Him. And
-
yet when we read these counts scriptures, you know, it
-
becomes white noise. It goes in one ear goes out
-
the other, and that is not God's desire. For us,
-
because if we respond to his word like that, we're
-
not going to respond to anything else, you know, and
-
and and and and again. It sounds like I'm punching down,
-
but it's not. I'm here to lovely tell us that. Hey,
-
if if if you're reading, and you know it's it's
-
like you know, if you read you know in I
-
don't mean to trigger anyone, but you know, in the
-
COVID years, the dark ages, you know, you know, and uh,
-
you know, the symptoms were there to help you actually
-
and to help the people around you. I'm losing my
-
sense of smell. No, it's telling you. If you lose
-
your sense or smell, you have a high fever, if
-
you you're littaging, if you're having a cough, please isolate yourself,
-
you know, please, for the sake of other people, please
-
get yourself checked in, get yourself well. The symptoms are
-
not there to condemn you to me go like, oh really,
-
got no s smell or smell?
-
Why are you telling me some more?
-
Okay, I don't need to be reminded, kid, I can't smell,
-
can't taste, kid, is enough, it's enough. You're triggering me.
-
It's not meant to trigger you. It's meant to save
-
you and to save the people around you. And so
-
the word of God, this is the mercy of Jesus. Right,
-
all of chapter twenty five hasn't happened yet. No foolish
-
versions has been cast out yet, no one server has
-
been cast out yet, no golds have been separated yet. Jesus,
-
you know that in the future this will happen, So
-
prepare well, study well.
-
I don't want this to happen to you.
-
And so if you read what we read and you
-
feel like, man, I feel like this, Like me, how
-
come as.
-
I'm reading this, I'm not afraid. I think there's something wrong.
-
You know.
-
It's like you know, eating and they go like covid
-
you can't taste, so you can't taste. I think there's
-
something wrong. If you're reading this, I'm not afraid there's
-
something wrong. If I'm reading this and I go like, however,
-
I heard about the preaching, there's something wrong because this
-
word is supposed to check us. And I want us
-
to come alive, because you know, the world needs to
-
know of this good news. But but, but but but
-
Christians can be activated. Christians and believers can be mobilized.
-
If we ourselves are not inspired by the living word
-
of God. Amen, don't, don't. God wants to break us
-
out of numbness. God wants to break us out of
-
our look warmness. God wants us to break out of
-
our routine. God wants you to actually enjoy Him and
-
enjoy Churchill again.
-
You see, just like.
-
Every good teacher, everything that they teach the student is
-
not just to pass the exams. It's not just so
-
that they can get to a better school, better college.
-
But at the universitys do a better job. It's not
-
just about that. It's actually to bless them and improve
-
their lives. Do you know that on the most basic
-
stuff right you learning to write that improves your life?
-
What job that lends you, that's between you and the interviewer,
-
but improves your life. You knowing how to do math
-
improves your life and makes you a blessing and it
-
protects you.
-
Know how to do math.
-
I'm just trying to use very new tra examples because
-
i know it sounds like you know health, I'm Briomstone,
-
you know. But if you know math, you go out,
-
you know how to pay the right amounts.
-
You'll be blessed.
-
You know, when somebody didn't give you your change back,
-
you're blessed. You know, when you gave too much, you're blessed. Right,
-
it's actually to bless you, not just to help you
-
pass your sbm or gess easel or whatever it is. Friends,
-
All of this is not to go like, hey, repent
-
or else. No, no, no, it's changed because God has more
-
in store for you. Change because God. You see the
-
ones that multiplied the talent. God is saying that good
-
and faithful I got more in store for you. The
-
virgins that carry on with all with perseverance, they will
-
welcome into the party with the bridegroom. And of course
-
you see that the you know, and I love the
-
last part because they said that. Jesus, when when did
-
we do this to you?
-
You know you will remember, right? You know some of
-
us here you remember.
-
You know, I don't know your first mission trip. You
-
know you'd be like and maybe like Jesse Shid earlier on. Oh,
-
I couldn't speak bahassa. I felt so awkward that God
-
used me halladeen your praise. So Lord you remember? Do
-
you know why they didn't remember? It's because they did
-
it so often that that doing good wasn't a special
-
mission to them. You know that that missional lifestyle, that
-
Jesus lifestyle that the lives of that pleases Jesus, that
-
that that that looks after those are less was so
-
common and so frequent that that it became like, huh,
-
you know, like like some of the stuff that you
-
do so often that you go like, did did I right?
-
Like someone's here, we drove here? And you ask yourselves
-
because you look the car so often, so often you
-
ask yourselves often this, you know, my ca, I did right?
-
I think I did?
-
And you're not doing it because you forgetful you're doing
-
because you die so often it's become muscle memory and
-
you can't recall exactly.
-
And that was like this, that's the response. They were like,
-
she just gonna do we do that? Do you mean?
-
And she just says, you did so often to all
-
of these my mine, You've been so transformed by my
-
word that that you lived out that that that it
-
didn't feel like you were like, oh wow, look at me,
-
I'm so sacrificing, you know. Let me sign up for
-
I signed for missions, praise a lot. Let me post
-
on social media. Sign up for missions hashtag missions hashtag
-
life hashtag you know guilt trip. The rest of my
-
home means make my home leader proud hashtag greatest place
-
on Earth.
-
No, they had no time for hashtags, no time for
-
social media. They just did it. They just did it
-
to the point where they go like, oh did we
-
I guess we did.
-
We did so often, and so we were gonna, you know,
-
we gotta come back to that place of going like, God,
-
I want to live like that for you again. I
-
want to live so righteously that I can't even keep
-
count God.
-
I don't want to count the church and go through
-
a routine again.
-
God, I Lord, I want to live for you because
-
you have so much more in store for me and
-
so much stuff in store for the people around me.
-
You know, recently I was telling someone because our church
-
is into discipleship right now, right not just right now,
-
always been to discipleship, but there's an emphasis, and they
-
say that I was again in trouble with the boss.
-
There's an emphasis now and in the UK we've been
-
trying to roll it out and some people say why
-
do I need to be disciples And I go like,
-
you need to be discipled even if you don't think
-
you need to discipled. Actually you need to be discipled
-
because discipleshit is for the people around you.
-
It's not just for you, but the people around you.
-
They say, what do you mean, past I said it
-
because you're unbearable to the people around you. You're not
-
a blessing to the people around you. You know, you're
-
not a good example of the people around you. I
-
want you to be a good example. I want you
-
to be a blessing. I want you to be their friend.
-
I want you to be invited to the above their party.
-
So get this hypo and get some Jesus in you
-
and be not just a hero of the world, but
-
a duo, a person who's transformed by the Word. So
-
how how do we get out of this numb state?
-
Let me give you three points? Okay, point number one,
-
wonder wonder. We need to restore our sense of wonder
-
of who God is. You know, I'm trying to be
-
as practical as possible. Right before I tell you read
-
your Bible pray, you just gonna just.
-
Go like, wait a second. I need to just you know,
-
I need to.
-
You know, we're seeing man times stand in awe of God.
-
Be still and know. And that's exactly what we need
-
to do.
-
We need to slow down for a bit and count
-
our blessing before you rush on to work or to
-
any other responsibilities, any other commitments.
-
Just just just pause for a bit.
-
The Bible has a word in some cross seller, just
-
seller for at and go like, wait, God, actually, I'm
-
just so grateful. Actually, God, I come to realize. You know,
-
one thing I come to realize as a pastor. You know,
-
I was by the Girt World Commission tw ten, so
-
now will be I think, you know, very bad with math,
-
but fifteen years of serving as a pastor, and you
-
know what fifteen years of being a pastor has taught me.
-
God doesn't need me, That's what you know. I don't
-
know if the other pastors can relate. The more I
-
become pastor, the more I will people, the more I
-
realize that God, I am so bad. I'm not the best,
-
I'm not the most eloquent, I'm not the most equipped.
-
And God actually don't need me. I got you can
-
use somebody else, God, why? And and that's when I
-
marvel and one day and go like, God, you don't
-
need me, God, you can use anyone else, Holy Spirit.
-
You can use anyone else, Holy Spirit, Why what would
-
you dwell in me? You know, like like like think
-
about it, Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity,
-
Why would you why would you use me?
-
What would you dwell in me? You know, like like like.
-
H if if if you know, if President of the
-
United States comes to Malaysia, he's not going to be
-
staying with me. He's gonna be he'd be like too small,
-
your house is too small whatever, you know, like you know,
-
it's like he go to someplace else. I don't know,
-
you know, it's like a loves the house. Uh, like
-
he'll he'll he'll stay in you know what I'm saying.
-
Like it's not just that if like like you know anyone,
-
but like like you'll be a security risk to live
-
with me.
-
And yet the Holy Spirit lives in me. Do you
-
understand that? Friends?
-
And sometimes you need to not just go yeah, yeah,
-
I know. No Holy Spirit do me no, no, no, no,
-
no pause? Are you listening to yourself? The Holy Spirit?
-
Uh huh no, no, no, you don't get it. The
-
Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity.
-
The Holy Spirit lives, not visits.
-
Not hangs out sometimes, but lives not in.
-
There mean some expensive hotel in Malaysia right now, not
-
in majestic l not in Renaissance, not not in.
-
You know, not not in some hotel, not in some
-
way lagoon pyramid resort, you.
-
Know what I'm saying, Not that in Shangri La, but
-
lives in me.
-
And we need to take a pause and go like, whoa, whoa,
-
how can I take you for granted? See, sometimes we
-
will lose our wonder because we move too fast. We
-
lose our wonder of God because we forget. And God
-
is in the business you see scripture. God oftentimes he
-
in the Old Testament constantly go like, did you not
-
remember how I got you out of Egypt? Did you
-
not remember how I split the Red Sea? Don't you
-
remember I'm the the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
-
He was constantly reminding them of.
-
Their past, of of of how he was there for
-
them and how he rescued them, and how he brought
-
them into the Promised Land. And someone's here we need
-
to ask God, God, I please restore this.
-
Sense of wonder I've lost, Not just wonder, I've lost respect.
-
I've taken them for granted. And the good news is this,
-
You're not alone.
-
And the good news is this you can to God
-
because the first step of healing is admitting that you
-
need help. And this is clearly shown in Psalm fifty one,
-
verse twelve. Psalm fifty one, verse twelve says, this, restore
-
to me the joy of your salvation.
-
How many of you would say that I need that? Today?
-
I need to be reminded again, how God save me?
-
I restore God? I've lost it?
-
You see?
-
You see, friends, church is a place where you can
-
be real. This is not a place for us to
-
go like. I don't need no restoration. I'm fine. No, no, no, no,
-
this is does some say that I need it? King
-
de wro this is says I need restored to me
-
the joy of my salvation, and grant me Lord. I
-
don't have a willing spirit God right now. I don't
-
know what spirits I mean by it's not a willing spirit.
-
And I need a willing spirit that only you can
-
give me.
-
God, Please, I need help.
-
So would you say to God this morning, God, I
-
don't want to leave this room the same way I
-
walked in.
-
God, I don't want to be no many more. God,
-
I'm sick and tired of being look warm.
-
God restored to me to join myselfash Lord, remind me
-
bring me back to that place again where I first
-
encounter you, and help me be in alle of you again.
-
You know, and and and you know maybe sometimes you
-
know we we you know.
-
For me, I've been blessed because you know, with with
-
the birth of my son, I get to see different
-
things through his eyes again.
-
And you know, I'm blessed with a very cute boy.
-
I think, uh, and.
-
But I can't have a very real parent moment with you.
-
I'm not sure if the otherpends are that. If you're not,
-
you can pray for me by just being real. Churches
-
a place I can be real as cute as my
-
son is. Sometimes I think he's a limit too much.
-
And sometimes I go, like.
-
James, Daddy needs space.
-
You know that he needs to remember again that he
-
used to have a life, that he needs to know
-
that he could last time, he could go out to Mama.
-
You know now you know he can't.
-
And then as I think about that, and I certainly
-
am reminded that by God, you never think like that
-
about me. God never goes like humanity. You're a little
-
bit much right now, you know. Exhut you a little
-
bit much right now? So and that's how we think, right,
-
you're a bit much. So three years of silence because
-
I need my space, I need to remember I can
-
go through Mama, you know, Like, but no, the Bible
-
says God never leaves us or forsake us.
-
And the Bible says that.
-
Even if a nursing mom should forget the child on
-
her bosom, that God will not.
-
That's the God with sir.
-
And so sometimes even my child, I go like, Wow,
-
I'm immediately filled with the wonder of.
-
God's love God.
-
And then suddenly, you know, the beautiful thing about God
-
restoring a sense of wonder into your life isis that
-
simultaneously God is magnified and simultaneously we are humbled because
-
I just go like, God, you you never you never
-
say that to me. And I go like, oh, I'm
-
such a bad person to even say that to my son. Oh, God,
-
how passing am I? Oh if people knew and now
-
they know, you know, oh, they're gonna think that.
-
Oh they're gonna want to change.
-
And and and that's great because problems happen. Do you
-
know why the versions were foolish. You know why that
-
the servant barriers talent because somewhere along the line, they've
-
forgotten who God is and who they are. The bigger
-
God is the smaller I become, and I'm smaller I become.
-
That's the best place for me to be because I
-
realized that I need God more and more, and I
-
need to just be glad to be in his presence.
-
You know, like like we so friends, you know, we
-
just say God restored to me.
-
I don't know how all you were when you first
-
got saved.
-
I got saved when I was eleven, and it changed
-
my life. I was like, God, you did all that
-
for me, You died for me. I'm just a kid
-
from Benign. I'm not even good with my grades. No,
-
I'm not good at home. I feel like I'm a
-
disappointment to my parents. I don't think I'm you know,
-
I'm doing that great in school. I'm so mediocre. I'm struggling.
-
And yet God, you love me, and you gave your
-
life for me, and now you're giving me a new
-
I mean, how I'm I'm I'm no, tears are just
-
coming out just thinking about it. Maybe that's what we
-
need not more revelation, but but more remembrance.
-
Maybe we need to remember how God where.
-
God found us in that pit, in that state of
-
mary Clay, and then he lifted us up, not because
-
we are good, not because you're worth anything, but because
-
He's good. I'm like, God, why why do you need
-
a kid from Penan in your kingdom. Here's so many
-
other kids in much clever kids in my school.
-
Why me? I don't know. I'm just so glad that
-
God said yes, so for some of us.
-
Friends, Please, he meant that the key to breaking out
-
the run is to go like God. Help me to
-
remember again, God, restore the joy. Help me to remember
-
again that it's you, not me. It's you not me.
-
Part Number two. Worship their sense of wonder and awe
-
should then lead us to a place of worship and friends,
-
we need worship, We need you know. The truth is
-
this that we worsh All of us worship something. All
-
of us worship something. Some of us worship a football.
-
Team, We worship celebrities, We worship money, we worship sex,
-
we worship food, we worship comfort, we worship ourselves.
-
We we all worship somebody. Friends, only God satisfy us.
-
You worshiping and the altar of everything else were never satisfying.
-
They'll only take, take, take, take.
-
And then when you have nothing to offer, they will
-
spit you out and they'll offer nothing in return.
-
But when you worship Jesus, you'll realize that he gave, gave,
-
gave and gave, and because he gave, we worship.
-
Him, because he lived and died so that we worship him. Friends,
-
we need I wrote here glorious, heart felt, sacrificial, explosive worship.
-
And I'm not saying this to the worship team only,
-
I'm not saying this to worship.
-
Didn't go like okay, positive said that okay with us
-
other being her phone, more budget.
-
We need bigger sound system, explosive, we need a bigger screen,
-
you know, we need we need all this. No, no, no,
-
it's not.
-
Real worship doesn't require music even but real worship happens
-
when we surrender.
-
That's what worship is. You know, when when we come
-
to church and go like.
-
No matter the song, I'm gonna worship, no matter my mood,
-
I'm gonna worship. When I worship, I am saying that God,
-
you are my all. And I don't know about you friends.
-
But I'm not even sure if you worshiped this morning,
-
but we did. We did four songs. Yeah, you did
-
four songs, But did you worship? Did you worship? Because
-
that's a difference. Worship cannot happen without sacrifice. Oh but
-
Jesus is my sacrifice. Yeah, but do you know what
-
else you can sacrifice? Your preferences, your personality some of
-
us to come here to go like not my song,
-
not my beat, not my tempo, not my vibe. It's
-
just not me, not feeling it. It's not about you.
-
And and do you know how he can really worship
-
when you still live up the praises of He who
-
saved you, even.
-
When it's not your song.
-
That's how you show someone you love you, you know,
-
like like if if if you only love somebody when
-
I don't know when the when the mood is right,
-
that's not real love.
-
That's circumstantial, you know, Like this is this thing. Think
-
about it?
-
Right?
-
If my son asks me one day like that I
-
need some food, I'd be like not feeling right now.
-
You're you're you're told not quite loving it. No, No,
-
it's like I I I because I love my son.
-
I feed him rather whether he is polite to me
-
or not, whether he asks nicely or not, because I
-
love him. I love God not because of the music.
-
I love God because he laid it all for me.
-
And every Sunday I have a chance to lay off
-
for him. You know. In in a she Brew chapter thirteen,
-
verse fifteen says this he Brew thirteen fifteen through Jesus. Therefore,
-
let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise,
-
and in.
-
Case that's not clear, the fruit of our lips that openly.
-
So don't just go like I must bring no, openly
-
profess his name. I'm raising holy hands, profess his name.
-
No, bring to God a sacrifice of praise, fruits of
-
your lips. And I want to talk to the men
-
for a while here, because the truth is this a
-
lot of us, many in this room, are of Asian descent.
-
We don't have good role models in our fathers. Most
-
of our fathers rarely say anything. I really detached, I
-
checked out, silent, And whether you realize it or not,
-
we model ourselves after that model of manliness, and we
-
think that it's masculine, and we bring that to church.
-
And so, because your father is storic. You are storic
-
because your father is stuff. Don't smell. You don't smell
-
because your father checked out. You checked out because your father.
-
Don't cry. You don't to cry because your dad never
-
expressed emotion. You don't express emotion.
-
Frands.
-
The whole thing about the Salvation story is this that
-
we don't need to model ourselves after our earth three parents.
-
We have a heavenly father to model after. And God
-
the Father is expressive. He was so proud of Jesus
-
that he was the first one to be hollering at
-
his baptism. That's my son, who I'm well?
-
Please?
-
Oh? And then the Holy Spirit come upon. I might
-
have added the wool pap but who knows. Well, we'll
-
check it out internity. Replay the tapes back then. You
-
know they heard thunder, you know, but it was God
-
going like, whoa, that's my son. It's gotta baptized. And friends,
-
we need to come back to that place again.
-
Now. You can be quiet, you can be introverted. I
-
get that. I respect that I'm one of you.
-
But then there are times or we cannot afford to
-
when we come together the worship the Lord, we cannot afford.
-
To be silent. We're gonna give God the praise that
-
he is due. Amen.
-
And it is in this kind of worship, you see,
-
this kind of worship requires you to surrender. This kind
-
of worship is paid, This kind of worship is sacrificial.
-
We need.
-
Isaac sacrificeing worship. All of us.
-
If you're familiar with the story of Abraham and Isaac,
-
all of us have an isaac, something precious, something you say, God,
-
don't touch God, don't touch my finances.
-
God, don't touch my private life. God, don't touch who
-
I did.
-
God, don't tell me who I can have sex even
-
know I can have sex with you tell don't tell.
-
Me who I can marry. Don't. Don't tell me how
-
I spent my mean don't don't don't touch this things.
-
God, I love your morals, Jesus, I love your grace.
-
But don't touch this, don't touch that. And God doesn't
-
want us to live like that. And God is saying that,
-
would you let me to set you? You see, the
-
more you hold on to your isaacs, the more numb
-
you'll become. But God is saying that, would you give
-
Because the story is this, that Abraham surrendered the Isaac
-
but the Isaac that he got back was was blessed
-
because he was willing to surrender. It was you know,
-
he was freed from I don't know that that sense
-
of control. He was freed from that idolatry.
-
He was freed. And and and we need to come
-
back to the place again and say, God, help teach
-
me how.
-
To worship you again. I want to worship you again.
-
I want to lift up holy hands. I wanna I
-
want to.
-
Bring fruits of offering sacrifices of praise.
-
The fruits I bring are fruits off my lips while
-
I openly confess that Jesus is king.
-
Friends, you need that kind of worship.
-
You see, I wouldn't be who I am today here
-
serving the Lord to the best of my ability if
-
not for worship.
-
And I don't mean music, I mean worship.
-
You see, oftentimes, you know, the word of God is challenging,
-
and the Word of God is uncomfortable, and it's meant
-
to be like that. The Bible cause itself a double
-
aged sword. And I remember in the early days of church,
-
you know, you you know, we will sit under the
-
teaching or passica week after week, and and it wasn't like,
-
you know, just laugh out loud moments, even though pass
-
cares very funny preacher, But but it was this, but
-
it was you know, challenging heart truths.
-
I used to be so afraid of missions. You know,
-
I never want to go.
-
You know that there used to be a sound that
-
we'll sing in church back then, you know, and it
-
has a line and says, send me, I will go.
-
And every time it comes that line, I will refuse
-
to sing it. But you know where that changed. Not
-
true counseling, but in worship. One day, while worshiping the Lord,
-
you know, the lorder school site. Will you keep with
-
holding that from me? Will you keep withholding back? And
-
it's in worship that that many times, not just missions,
-
but a lot of things, un forgiveness, addiction, a.
-
Lot of things that I was holding on to. God.
-
Don't God, don't call me outd God, don't ask me
-
to forgive that person.
-
I'm still angry. God. You have no idea how hurt God?
-
You know you know why you ask me to be
-
the first of the sason.
-
I don't want. I don't want. I don't want. I
-
have a lot of iscs. I I I is and
-
God is saying surrender. And it's only in worship that
-
the chains that the isaacs in my life had over
-
me were broken. Chains. No, look, warmness, it's a chain.
-
Your personality is a chain. Your preference is a chain.
-
You know. Let would you offer that to God and
-
let God break it? And that leads me to my
-
third point. First, how do we come back to the
-
place where we love God, where we're activated by His word?
-
We need to say, God, restoring me, a sense of wonder,
-
restoring me the jow of my salvation. God.
-
I want to worship you. I need to worship you.
-
It is in the worship that I meet you.
-
It is in worship that I encounter your presence, and
-
in your presence it's fullness of joy. In your presence,
-
it's liberty. I need that liberty. I need that fullness
-
of joy. I need you, and we need it.
-
All the time.
-
We need it yesterday, as some people say, and we
-
need it wherever and whenever. True intimacy cannot be scheduled.
-
Let me put it this way.
-
If I really, really, really want to get to know
-
elder Pinghole, you know what I cannot do.
-
I cannot be like, hey, go a ping Hole I
-
we don't get to know you better.
-
So let's catch up once a month, and you know,
-
every last Friday of the month, let's sit down and
-
let's have lunch, and in that two hour lunch, let's
-
just really better our hearts out to each other.
-
Okay, do you know that that.
-
Kind of scheduling cannot grow intimacy because if you really
-
want to get to know someone, it's not about last Friday.
-
Every month I meet you. We thought, we're not robots.
-
We need to get to know the person all the time.
-
We need to have conversations with that person all the time.
-
We need to uh, you know, be around that person
-
all the time. And so, friends, if you really want
-
to restore sense of Wonday and worship in your life,
-
then then friends, it's your quiet time is not enough.
-
Your Sunday worship is not enough.
-
You need it all.
-
You need your Sunday worship. You need your prayer meetings,
-
you need your homes, you need your handle meetings.
-
You need it. And that's how you might be thinking, oh,
-
this guy spout propaganda as if my life is not
-
busy enough. No, you needed friends. I know your life
-
is busy. That's why you need the fellowship of the Saints.
-
That's why you need to encounter God. And how is
-
God best encountered when two or three are gathered together,
-
His presence, his authority is there.
-
That's why we come together to worship.
-
Because when we come together to worship like this every Sunday,
-
we get a glimpse of God.
-
You see, we need we need not just quality time
-
of God, we need quantity. We need both.
-
And that's why friends come for Sunday service and don't
-
just come but serve. Don't see that, but excuse me.
-
You said that I need to worship. But if I serve,
-
I come worship. If I as a host, I stand
-
at B Tree, become worship. I've stood at B Tree before,
-
and then it brings your worship to hold new level.
-
It brings heaven to earth because have you heard the
-
acoustics of be Tree.
-
You know? You see you don't. You don't know what
-
I'm talking about until you bet, and then you go like,
-
I love you, Lor, Lor, Lor, and I live my voice.
-
I mean all jokes aside. You know I've been there before.
-
Like when you're there assuring let me, it brings your
-
faith life Because on one hand, there's something.
-
You know that wash is happening right now.
-
I can't wait for every church member to come on time,
-
so I don't need to stand more than five minutes there.
-
I can go up get but but I can't because
-
I'm here to to to welcome someone. I'm here to
-
help someone feel loved, even though there is a longing
-
for me to be upstairs. And if we can catch that,
-
that's how we should live our lives. I'm here on
-
planet Earth. There's a longing for me to be upstairs.
-
There's a longing for me to be in God's presence.
-
But I'm here for a mission.
-
Did you see that? Do you see your your your
-
worship not is moulti dimensional, It is no longer.
-
What you're seeing is what you're living out and what
-
you're expressing, and that's the gospel right there.
-
I'm on planet Earth, be tree.
-
Because somebody here needs to find the entrance to where
-
the presence of God is.
-
In summit and I'm here.
-
I long to be up there worshiping with them, but
-
I'm here with a mission with a plan.
-
Do you see you don't understand me? Explain you after
-
the service? Okay, come right? Running out of time, but
-
do you do you do?
-
You see when you when you come to church, you
-
worship when you serve, You worship at prayer meeting, You
-
worship through prayer in your own quiet time. Don't neglect
-
that you're worshiping God through scripture and two personal prayer.
-
You're doing that sample ship. You're you're worshiping because there's
-
unity there. And God is glorified because because you're learning
-
to submit, you're learning to allow somebody to speak truth
-
into your life, and you're learning to be transparent. You're
-
being changed and God is glorified. Worship is glorifying God.
-
And we need to do it whenever and wherever. We
-
need to have a lot of it, and we need
-
to have quality. And I can't tell you with this
-
last illustration.
-
You know, I again.
-
I'm saying I'm only here, but you know I'm great.
-
I'm not, but but I can humbly say that I'm
-
standing here today not because I had.
-
That one encounter with God.
-
A lot of times will come up to me, they
-
go like, you know, they're find it very funny, you know,
-
to go like what do you do for a living? Oh?
-
I vote for church. I as a pastor and then
-
people ask me, what is that? Do you know?
-
Someone mospiritual saying, so, how do you know your full
-
time calling? You know, as if they're expecting me to
-
have that one moment like like you know the apostle
-
saw on the way, you know, like like you know,
-
like ah, it'saw God. You know they're thinking that one moment,
-
and good. I I don't have one moment to tell you.
-
I have moments how I end up in the UK, Moments,
-
how I say yes, Moments, how I found courage to
-
to share God's word, Moments, how did you break out
-
of that addiction?
-
Moments. It's not just that one Sunday.
-
It was Sunday after Sunday after Sunday, and especially the
-
Sundays I didn't feel like coming and I didn't feel
-
like worshiping. It was get away and and church cams
-
after church cams. And by the way, there's the overnight
-
that coming up and you need that, friends, that there's
-
an overnight that coming up for for for this service
-
is it's November.
-
Please sign up. You need it because another way.
-
To restore wonder sometimes is to is to interrupt our
-
hustle and bustle cald life.
-
You need to get away.
-
You know, if you read the Old Testament, there were
-
there were a few feasts a year that that the
-
people of God were required to leave their hometowns and
-
make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. See, God knows a thing
-
or two about interrupting or a routine. There was the
-
reason why the original Sabbath was building such an it's
-
interrupt your workflow, disrupt.
-
There's a real disruption there.
-
And and it's because we need to, like, well, okay,
-
get out of my four walls, get out of you know,
-
get out of whatever it is and go to a
-
place and touch some grass and smell some fresh air,
-
and again, you know, be reminded again that God is
-
a god who breathed all.
-
The this creation into being with just one word, one breath.
-
You know.
-
That's that's how, you know, a sense of wonder. When
-
I go hiking, I get a sense of God's you know,
-
my wonder of the Lord and his all of his
-
majestic creation is restored not just in church, but when
-
I go for a hike. When when when I you know,
-
just enjoy nature. And so we need that overnight, you
-
need that getting away to worship.
-
I can't. I can't. You need to sacrifice.
-
You need it.
-
Friends, I'm busy. I got a business, I know, and
-
God loves your business. He's the one that gave you
-
that business. God, God loves your bank account. He's the
-
one that filled it. And he's saying that in order
-
for it to remain full to the overflow, you need him.
-
But a lot of us go like, oh, it needs
-
to remain full overflow. So I cut out God, I
-
sacrifice fellowship and and I I just you know.
-
No, no, no, you need.
-
You need. No meeting is it's too small for God
-
to meet to to move and no meeting is too
-
big for God to meet you in person. You need
-
every Sunday, you need every homes of course, I'm not
-
saying that. You know, you can't skip, but but it's special.
-
And let's not forget how special it is, how special
-
it is to be able to gather here. This is special.
-
Don't say that oh my churching, Sammie, Well, con you
-
meet in the cooler mall. This is special, This is special.
-
This is Jesus, you know, Yeah, you can meet in
-
the cooler mall church and TRX, why not you know,
-
tell Xmoud maybe they need to move there. I'm starting
-
your want x x trx or whatever.
-
But but this is so God.
-
A lot of people go like, oh, you know, one
-
time I was taking a grab and then the grab
-
driver say what are you doing?
-
Some is a dead mare.
-
And I remember the words of my Jesus. It's not
-
the healthy, it is not the sick. It's not the
-
healthy that need a physician.
-
It's the sick. It's the dead more that.
-
Needs Jesus the most to bring life and light into
-
this place of seemingly darkness.
-
Amen.
-
No, I'm just gonna invite the worship team up and
-
thank you for your patience, but just draw to close.
-
And I don't think there's anyway to draw this to close.
-
I said to respond to God in worship. Make no mistake,
-
Jesus is coming back when I don't know. He knows,
-
But our job is not to figure out when, so
-
that we can have the comfort of like, oh, I
-
got three more months to prepare. Jesus asks us to
-
live a as if he could return any minute. And
-
it is in that kind of preparation mode that we
-
are most blessed that we are best positions in life.
-
I know it's very different. The world says, you know,
-
buy a nice land, build a big house, settle down, chill.
-
That's the most rested you can be. But Jesus is
-
the most rested you can be. Is when you're ready
-
to go any minute. And in order for us not
-
to clash with God, in order for us not just
-
to see His word as white noise, we need to
-
allow God to right now interrupt us. I don't know
-
how this year has been for you, but if it's
-
been numb, if it's just been religious, yes, then friends,
-
even more, this message is for you today because God
-
doesn't want you to end the year in numbness and
-
in religion. He wants to restore that relationship. He wants
-
to restore the joy of your salvation. He wants to
-
make Scripture come alive again, not just for your blessing,
-
but so that to you others.
-
Can be blessed.
-
We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more
