You're listening to a message to go from ex Church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day today.
-
I titled it the Disciples that Cover. What word is
-
that anyone knows what it means exactly? Never mind, that's
-
why we're here to learn, right, Okay, the Disciples that Cover.
-
We are still this year in the theme of disciples first,
-
and I think it's very important that we know what
-
kind of disciples we are, right, whether useful or not
-
so useful to the lot lah. Okay, we can be
-
called we can call ourselves disciples. But I think there's
-
some secret that we can learn about this particular theme
-
of cover. Okay, So I want to start by us
-
engaging you. When we were worshiping just now right in
-
an awesome some of you were lost in a time
-
of worship during prayer time. What was the image of
-
God that was in your mind? Next slid, what is
-
your image of God? I want you to either write
-
it down, you can draw it for some of you
-
who are illustrators or artistic, right, what is your image
-
of God? Can you just capture? Just give you a moment, right, everyone,
-
if you just think about it, what is your image
-
of God? You can close your eyes and just say
-
what is it? What is the Holy Spirit bringing to
-
your mind right now? What is the image? Okay? And
-
either thought comes into your mind, I want you to
-
capture that and put it down into your notebook or
-
if you're writing notes on your phone, then just put
-
it down. What is the image that kind of captures
-
you right now? The image of God? Okay, we will
-
revisit this. This is very important and I wanted to
-
just latest foundation for us. Are we okay? Do you
-
have the picture of God in your mind? An image? Okay?
-
A right? Good? Good? Good? Now? All right, So just
-
now I went on and on about how tired we were,
-
right So then I told as I went home, I
-
told Emma, A Emma, you know, can you please pray
-
for me because I haven't prepared my message yet. I
-
reached over at eight o'clock selling something eight o'clock. Then
-
I say, oh, I haven't prepared, but she's like what okay?
-
Now after that eleven o'clock she sleptery you know, and
-
I was there still there busy preparing message. And I
-
hope that it will be of a blessing to you
-
a man. All right, now, how I came up with
-
this was there's something that the Lord has reminded me
-
over and over again, and I think recently as well,
-
I've been going through this phase you know where I
-
hear people are tired tired? Do we have tired people? Yeah, exhausted,
-
not just physically but emotionally, mentally, spiritually. Do you feel that?
-
Do you feel that I know our campus students right.
-
Sometimes you're just like, I'm so busy with my assignments.
-
Do you did Oh my gosh, I can I tell you?
-
I resonate with you, I identify with you. Okay, this
-
is old student. Okay, also student doing her masters. I
-
don't know why I'm there, but oh yo, I tell
-
you what this is very funny. Okay, I tell you
-
inside Joe, inside your So you know there's four of
-
us doing our masters together. Is Passus Hendra the busiest
-
woman on earth? Myself not so busy. Pasta Sarah the
-
second busiest person in ex church. I think she's running
-
l she's running X kids right. And then of course
-
Passa Jack right, so he's you know, he's in the
-
school Victory Academy. So four of us are in it.
-
And sometimes we go like why are we in this
-
like we've got nothing else better to do? Right? It
-
was so busy already, and yet it was so funny
-
because just last Monday we had that assignment you assignment
-
you at TED nine fifty five PM. I don't know
-
why the lecture said nine fIF CAPA students got such
-
thing on Now it's either nine fifty five or eleven
-
fifty nine. Okay, they're like co right on, see is
-
Israel a okay? So then because we were so busy
-
right last week were a spr vision retreat okay, you
-
had meetings from nine to nine forget it, No, no
-
assignment's done, and then Saturday Sunday go other things happening
-
constantly Sunday all that, and so Monday I was like, oh,
-
writing this group project assignment at nine thirty nine thirty
-
assignment due day is nine fifty nine er okay, nine
-
fifty five. At nine thirty I only submit to twenty teen. Okay.
-
I was like, oh my gosh, okay, lucky thing I
-
could you know, go through? It was okay. And then
-
after that at nine forty six, I submitted the report
-
really cutting it close, you know, and then the whole day, right,
-
we've been added because there was few assignments you at
-
the same time. So we're like, okay, we will do
-
different things. And I tell you, my gosh, the tension
-
in my body after you summit ready, right, You're like,
-
and then for three days I cannot think I was
-
just exhausted, right campus students, right, you feel me because
-
I feel you, okay, And and it's it's just a
-
this is then you you go like, then what's next? Right,
-
because that's not the end. That's not the end. There's
-
more right, I'm not done with the musters. We've got
-
one more year. We completed one year, by the grace
-
of God, there's another year to go. I'm like, okay, hour, ohie,
-
one more year. Okay, now my pray for me okay.
-
And and so so that's that that that physical tire.
-
But but it's not it's more than that. It's a
-
mental tiredness, you know. It's it is the thing over
-
your head that cannot go off right, even though you
-
go on holiday or whatever. It's just this umbrella will
-
your hat that you you just can't get over it.
-
I met up with a friend recently who's just gone
-
for grief counseling. For the loss of a mom. It's
-
been a year and still she says, you know, I
-
don't know why. Sometimes it just hits me and I
-
just see that crying, you know, and after that you
-
spiral down. Yeah, you know what I mean. When it
-
comes it hits you, then you're like, I'm just going
-
down and down and I don't know how to pick
-
myself up. Right. Earlier this week, I was doing our
-
family finances and then I was like, looking at it,
-
I'm like, oh wow. Then there's a sinking feeling that okay, wow,
-
savings depleted, different expenses to pay. Do you know things
-
are very expensive now, and you're like, every every cent
-
counts right, every eating out counts right. And you know
-
Chinese people and we don't order drinks on right, because
-
we say we only pay us necessity, right, We pay
-
for the food. What do you drink? We bring our
-
own bottle put there, correct. So that's how we think
-
about money, right. So that there's and you know, I
-
went into this almost like a single right because there's
-
all these things that's going around and you just feel
-
so overwhelmed, overwhelmed, and I had to catch myself and
-
I say, oh god, this is this is not me. Okay,
-
I don't I don't usually go like that, right, but
-
it hit me. It hit me earlier this week, and
-
I just say, God, I need to get out of
-
this right now. Church. I let me ask you this question. Right, So,
-
when you hear of something like this, you know, you
-
know someone is going through a tough time. You know
-
they're just feeling down, and you know helpless, overwhelmed. Overwhelm
-
is the word. Okay, what is the usual Bible verse
-
that you know? We're good Christians? Right? You say, okay,
-
let me use this to encourage my brother or my sister.
-
What do you know? What are some of God's you know,
-
the verses in the Bible that you know of. Tell
-
me those that way to the Lord shell, we knew
-
they are strange. Do we know this verse? Ah? Okay,
-
there you go, exhausted, tired, helpless, this courage? So there
-
is that verse? Any other verses that you'll hang on
-
to or that you used to encourage? Do you all
-
know the verse the old Mabel? Just quote it? Yes,
-
any other verses that comes to your mind. Don't worry
-
about anything about pray about everything right by thanksgiving and praise.
-
You know, it supplication, present your gifts, present your request
-
before the Lord. Correct. Okay, So can we agree that
-
these are some of the common verses that you hang
-
on to. Yeah, okay, cool, So we will go with
-
the first answer, which is Elder Mabel. She's spot on rights.
-
She's the one that's very prophetic. She's like, don't tell
-
everyone loud, I say no, no, no, we sell pret
-
your gifting. Okay, So now we're gonna go into that verse.
-
Can we have the next light? Okay? So Isaiah forty
-
thirty one. Okay, shall we can you see this? Okay,
-
let's read this together? Right? Three two one. Those who
-
wait on the law shall renew their strength. They shall
-
mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and
-
not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Amen,
-
Isaiah forty verse thirty one. Got it? Now, this is
-
a verse that we always called correct because it's like, yeah,
-
you know, if you've been in church long enough, you
-
would have known this. You know, this verse light is
-
something that we always talk about. Okay, now look at
-
the word here, uh eagles eagles Okay, okay, second sort
-
of scribbling for you to do what comes to your
-
my next light when you think of the image of
-
an ego? What do you what do you perceive? Right, ego? Ego?
-
What do you perceive in the image of an ego?
-
I want you to just write it down, Just have
-
a think, have a think. What is the image of
-
an ego? And in a show what I'm gonna ask
-
for your response? Eagle ego? Do you have an image?
-
All right? You have some thoughts around that image? Okay,
-
So now I want to invite you to shut out
-
your answers. What do you perceive when you think of
-
an image of an ego? All right? Some answers, please, ball, majestic? Good?
-
What else? Sorry? Free? Freedom, freedom? Oh? We like this, right,
-
we like freedom that it represents. Protector, Yeah, definitely, sorry, fearless?
-
Whoa nice? Nice? We're on a row. A few more,
-
A few more? Sorry, sore? Is that the word I heard? Soaring?
-
Soaring high? Yeah? Nice? Right. Let's go back to the
-
verse again Isaiah forty thirty one. It says they shall
-
mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and
-
not be weary, they shall walk and not fain. What else?
-
What else do you see from the image of an ego?
-
Anything else? Strength? Do you see strength strength. Yeah. Okay,
-
So do you want to be an ego? You want
-
to be human? Okay, I mean, hey, hello, this is
-
called analogy. La yo, I know you want to be human.
-
Thank you, thank you for bringing the humor in. But
-
like cla, right, do you want to be like an eagle? Yes?
-
And no? Yes, thank you very much. Because the thing is,
-
if you're not an eagle, you are this. You are
-
like this little chicken right, also a bird. Okay, I
-
just want to do it because it's just so fun now,
-
just so fun to press the chicken. So if we
-
are not eagles, then we are like chicken. Laugh. We
-
should do you want to be you want to be chicken?
-
Or you want to be ego? Ego? Ego? And so
-
I now segue into a short intermission for advertisement. Okay,
-
so friends, we will be having so much fun at
-
our subang Jaya overnight. This will be part of the games. Okay,
-
So you don't want to miss out on our Subunja. Okay.
-
So I know we mentioned that we already closed the deadline,
-
but no, seriously, we want to give you an opportunity.
-
Today is the final day. Head to the you know,
-
to the back board. There and just sign up. Okay.
-
I know some of you finances are different reasons. Okay,
-
you have different commitments and all that, but I just
-
really want to encourage you to come because I think
-
I haven't told the team yet.
-
I know.
-
So of course our theme for the Overnighter is disciples first, right,
-
but I will put that the addition of turning chickens
-
to eagles. How about that turning chickens to eagles? So
-
don't be a chicken and chicken out? Okay, all right, okay,
-
intermission done, All right, coming back coming back to our message. Okay,
-
so we want to be eagles? Agreat Do you want
-
to be eagles? Okay? Now, now I want to introduce
-
this book called Isaiah. Do you know the profit? Right?
-
So you know that in your Bible. It's one of
-
the first prophets in the Old Testament, agreed in your Bible.
-
If you don't know, you open the page of table
-
of contents. You will notice that Isaiah is after the
-
Song of Solomon. After all, the poetry is Isaiah. How
-
many of you actually like prophecy? Okay, five people. The
-
rest of you don't know what to do with it?
-
Right when you read the Books of the Prophets. You're like,
-
I cannot understand it. There is no context and it's
-
so far removed from us that you you're like, gong mare,
-
what is it saying? I don't understand the Book of Prophecy?
-
But can I tell you something very interesting about Isaiah? Now?
-
Do you know the person who? Actually? Do you know?
-
By the way, can I tell you original scroll when
-
written by prophet Isaiah? There was no versus, there's no
-
chap this one. Do you know that? It was just
-
like a long scroll and it just roll r R road.
-
So I think it's only in the eighteen hundreds. Some
-
very clever pre say, are you a very hard la
-
to find verses? So let's do chaptering, you know. So
-
they put in Bible chapters into Isaiah, and then after
-
that the verses came in. So that's why now we
-
have chapters and verses not the most useful actually, because
-
you know what happens. We become text finders. You know
-
why I say that, because I can tell you only
-
know Isaiah forty thirty one. Do you know it's Isaiah
-
forty thirty twenty nine twenty eight? Don't know?
-
Right?
-
We become very text people, right, and so sometimes we
-
may caught things out of context. So what do you
-
make out of this verse again? Right? So we need
-
to put things back into the context of what's happening
-
now Again, I just want to encourage you to fall
-
in love with God to it, Kennon R. I'm currently
-
going through the Book of Isaiah myself, and I find
-
it's so encouraging, right to just read and meditate God's
-
word Isaiah forty Now the person right, whether coincidence or not,
-
do you know that he actually I think it's a
-
HeLa actually divided the whole Isaiah's Scroll into sixty six chapters.
-
Something familiar with you about the number sixty six? What
-
is it correct? The books of the Bible? Sixty six? Hey? Interesting?
-
H And what was more interesting is the first half
-
of the book? Right, there's a theme, right, So the
-
whole of Isaiah, there's two themes. One team is in
-
the first thirty nine chapters and then there's another team
-
in the next twenty seven chapters. Does this sound familiar?
-
What is it correct? The the nine books in the
-
Old Testament, twenty seven books in the New Testament, and
-
the team is no one you know? So if you
-
read the whole of first thirty nine chapters of Isaiah,
-
you will recognize that it's all do man gloom, do
-
man gloom, do main gloom. Judgment is coming, your enemies
-
are coming, as Syria is coming, Babylonian is coming. Doom, doom?
-
Do any ends with Hezekaya king Hezekiah. It was at
-
the lowest of the kingdom of Israel? Do you know that?
-
And right after that chapter forty onwards it was the
-
New Testament. It summarizes everything that we know of the
-
New Testament. What do you know of the New Testament?
-
Matthew marn look and John? Right the New Testament? What
-
does it say when John the Baptist came? What did
-
John the Baptists say when he came into the scene?
-
Prepare the way of the Lord? Correct? And you're gonna
-
see this very shortly as we go through Isaiah forty.
-
Are you okay? Are you excited to go into Isaiah forty?
-
It's a New Testament that we're talking about. So if
-
you say, what the whole Bible to read a very
-
big booker, can I encourage you to read Isaiah? Just
-
start with the prophet Isaiah because it's almost like the
-
whole Bible in a miniature. You can see the whole
-
picture of the Bible in Isaiah. Is that? Okay? What's
-
very interesting about Isaiah? I like you know, so can
-
we have the next slide? Do you know this verse?
-
For unto us a child is bond, the government shall
-
be on his shoulder. His name shall be called Wonderful
-
counselor Mighty God everlasting. For the principle you know this?
-
We always see this at Christmas. Right. Where is it found?
-
It's in the book of Isaiah. Huh, prophecy. Right, we're
-
talking about see what's gonna happen in the future, and
-
it's found in Isaiah. Let's see of some other phrases
-
that we are familiar with. Okay, so the next night
-
will show you. You know this worth grieving the Holy Spirit.
-
Do you think Jesus first coined it when he came
-
onto the scene? No, it was in Isaiah. Do you
-
know this phrase, God will wipe away all tears? You
-
think it's only in Revelation? No, Isaiah said already, how
-
about a voice crying in the wilderness? We heard that.
-
Just now, prepare the way of the Lord. You shall
-
be my witnesses. Hey, extra, Jesus is our anchorvers Okay,
-
you should notice, and we always quote it from Matthew
-
twenty eight. Right, you shall be my witnesses city, and
-
you're gonna make disciples, you know. So that's our anchor.
-
But do you know that it was already there in
-
Isaiah one of us, every niche all about every time
-
confess you think it was only in Philippians. It was
-
there already in Isaiah. Do you know that? Interestingly? Right
-
the Bible that Jesus knew of the Old Testament. Out
-
of all the scrolls, he and Paul quoted Isaiah the most.
-
They loved the book. They love the prophet. And so
-
I want to encourage your church. If you really want
-
to be like Christ, then this is a book that
-
I suggest you get familiar with. Fall in love with amen.
-
All right, So just a little bit of introduction to Isaiah. Now, okay,
-
so let's try to understand. So, like I said, right,
-
we need to understand contexts because sometimes we just use
-
the Isiah forty thirty one. Someone someone gave me one before,
-
and know she just put it on a post. It
-
not Isaiah forty thirty one. For you. I'm like, ooh,
-
what is? So that I go look up WHOA very comforting,
-
you know, And that was as much as I knew. Right,
-
those who wait on the Law show, you know, saw
-
like wings on ego, Da da da, they should you know,
-
walk and off it. I'm like, okay, okay, but I
-
think the lot one to bring us deep is that. Okay,
-
So let's just go a few verses above that. Like
-
I said, let's go to verse twenty eight and twenty nine.
-
Next the next light. Now, let's look at this right.
-
It says he gives power to the weak and to
-
those who have no Mighty increases strength even the youth,
-
even the you shall feign and be weary all yeah,
-
people say, oh yeah, and the young man shall utterly fall.
-
So when we're thinking about strength here, we're thinking not
-
about physical agility. We're not talking about how young you are,
-
because can I tell you, young people, you also get tired, right,
-
Because now we're not talking about a physical tiredness. We're
-
talking about a mental, a spiritual, and emotional tiredness that
-
cannot go away with sleep. You know what I'm saying.
-
Sometimes you know you're physically tired, right, after you know
-
physical acting, you think like, okay, just sleep. As long
-
as you sleep, it's enough. But it's not okay. So
-
he says that Now you know what I take comfort
-
in this is? Firstly, do you see that God wants
-
to give you power? Can you see that? Not he
-
gives power to the weak. He's not asking you a
-
be stronger. You go and exercise more. Do you know
-
what I'm saying? That's what we always say. Right here.
-
You feel so tired. I think you should sleep more.
-
I think you should eat more. You know, I think
-
you should work out a bit more, exercise a little bit.
-
But God is not like that. He says, I will
-
give you power because you are awake. I'm the one.
-
I'm the source of all power. So you think if
-
you're already weak, you got energy to like psych yourself up? Yeah,
-
say yes an amen, amen on ourselves. It seems impossible.
-
Even the young people were like, oh yeah, we are tired,
-
right and so I you know, it just seems to
-
me God, God is the one. He's like, hey, I'm
-
ready to give you power. I want to give you strength.
-
But you know there's a condition attached to this. God
-
wants to do something, but there needs to be a
-
response from us. Do you agree? There's always that one?
-
You know, God as a good father, I want to
-
give you gifts. Let's say I got yesterday part of
-
the amazing race trip right. We had to pass by
-
the iPhone the Apple store in TRX, my first time there.
-
Can you see so on tie right? Never go before?
-
So we went through the Apple store. Can I tell
-
you what it was like, passa malam? Why every owl
-
was full of people? Why? Because they say they just
-
launched the new iPhone seventeen? Is it? Okay? I got
-
the vision correct, And it seems that for students you
-
get free I bought or whatever whatever. Okay, I'm like, oh,
-
how much is an iPhone seventeen? By the way? Three
-
ring gata? No? Seven eight thousand? Right, I don't know,
-
I don't know ten thousand correct, it's not ten ringate,
-
my dear friends, passa malam, I understand tenrigate? Everybody there right?
-
Ten thousand ringate? I'm like, well, these people all free one?
-
Is it? iPhone? Okay? Anyways? Why do I get there?
-
So distracted? Right? But it's crazy, right, how people flock
-
to things like that, you know, and thinking that it's
-
it's you know, free anyways. So we want to understand
-
more right that it's not about how energetic you feel.
-
It's not about how strong you are physically. But like
-
I said, there is a condition that's a response. When
-
God gives us a gift. Let's say I want to
-
give to Elie the latest iPhone seventeen. I'm like, yeah, here, God, dear,
-
you did such an awesome job and worship leading, so
-
I'm gonna give you this gift. You're next streme okay,
-
side shout out there. And then what does she have
-
to do? She has to receive it, right, So you
-
cannot blame me if I say I give it to
-
you Ellie and she's like okay, and she leaves it there,
-
and then she walks away and she forgets all about it.
-
That's how we are with God. Sometimes God is ready
-
to pour out his spirit on his people, and then
-
sometimes you're like, oh it's okay, thank you, bye, see
-
you next week or not. Right. So every gift everything
-
that God wants to give us, and in this case power,
-
God wants to give us power. But if you're not
-
willing to receive it, then you will go away. Tie
-
La still the same? True, Let's move on more? Can
-
I tell you that this? Right? You're not just okay?
-
Like God?
-
You move La because you're the powerful one. Right, So
-
I just say a prayer and you move? Can heal
-
my auntie? You know? Prave o salvation like that? You know,
-
just maybe give me that promotion. That kind of waiting
-
on the lot, that is not the biblical and understanding
-
of waiting. But when what do we do when we wait? Correct?
-
So we understand that the mean of waiting is like
-
pausing for a bit. And many of us are waiting
-
for something? Is that right? Can I? I don't need
-
to prophesy? I know all of us are waiting for something.
-
We are waiting in anticipation of a better life. Correct?
-
Do all of us want a better life? When you
-
can be free from pain, you can be free from medication,
-
you can be free from difficult relationships. We are all
-
waiting for a better tomorrow. Now, So the waiting is
-
an active you know, while you wait, what do you do?
-
It's an active word? Because you remember when you read
-
Isaiah forty thirty one, it says they shall mount out
-
on wings like they shall walk, they shall run and
-
not be weary. They shall walk and not faining. Correct.
-
Does it look like a picture of waiting sitting down? No,
-
so the picture is an active You know, we are
-
still running. We are still walking, and that's how we wait.
-
That's how we wait because as we are walking, as
-
we are running, we are being We're shifting our perspective
-
of our lived realities. Your reality is the same, right,
-
You still have that mom, you still have that cousin,
-
you still have that nasty boss. That doesn't change. But
-
the hope that we have is saying, God, I am
-
shifting how I view my real reality. Now, now do
-
you get that? Church, It's very important for you to
-
catch you right. How are you going to shift your
-
perspective of your reality? And this is something that only
-
God can help us do. Do you know that? Because
-
He encourages us to renew our minds. Are we renewing
-
our minds or not? That's the thing. If we don't
-
renew our minds, then everything will look as though it's
-
the same. Do you know the context of why Isaiah
-
wrote this to the children of Israel is because they
-
were in bondage. Remember I told you the first thirty
-
nine chapters. It was the downhill of the Kingdom of God.
-
They were in Babylonian exile. They were all pressed, and
-
they were depressed. That is the condition of the people.
-
When Isaiah wrote this, he's saying, hey, hello, I know
-
you're tired. I know you are suffering right now. But
-
do you know suffering has a way of shaping our perspective.
-
When you suffer, especially when you suffer for a long time,
-
you can become so disillusion that you say, I just
-
want to give up. I just want God just take
-
my life with whela now now, Lord, because if I'm
-
living in constant pain and not just physical pain, emotional pain,
-
I just feel so tired. I'm in the pit. I
-
don't know how to get it. Can you imagine being
-
in a pit for a long time and no way.
-
You feel like there's no way outright. That suffering has
-
kept you there in prison. And I want to prophesy
-
in the name of Jesus, anyone who's right now there
-
in the pit, be released in the name of Jesus. Amen,
-
you do not have to submit to that pit, because
-
Jesus is overcoming. He has overcome that pit. It's called
-
death and sin. Can I tell you that friends, you
-
believe that, Amen, say amen to yourself. I'm free from
-
that pit. I don't need to stay. I know no
-
longer need to stay in that trap of this. That's
-
a lie of the enemy. You know, if you believe
-
in that life, whatever Jesus did on the cross useless
-
rendered useless. So can you tell yourself? Can you prophesy
-
to your own Spiritmen, I don't need to stay in
-
this pit. Jesus has brought me out of this pit. Amen. Amen, hallelujah?
-
Are you are you getting something? You're getting something from
-
the Lord. His word is so good. Let's move on
-
to the next slide. Now, the word to wait, one
-
of the Hebrews weight is called cover. Remember that's why
-
I say the title of your message to day is
-
disciples that cover. Now cover comes from the root. We're
-
called cough, which is a rope or a cord. Okay,
-
so a rope or a cord. Do you see this?
-
And the actual meaning right of this word cover? Right,
-
it means you are intertoined together. But you see is
-
being pulled attention like a rope, right, that is being
-
pulled to attention. Do you feel this is like you?
-
Right now? Your children is demanding your time, your husband
-
needs you. Pull tension, you're stretched, You're not the word
-
where you stretched. If you stretch, like beyond your capacity
-
like wa Ellie asked me to come for six am
-
worship practice or stretch, stretch, stretch right, and there's no release.
-
You know, you're like, oh, one thing after another. Do
-
you feel like that one thing after another, assignment after
-
assignment or ig students one whole man of exam. Okay,
-
please pray for them because they're being Can you continue
-
to pray for them because they need stemina right all
-
the way until the end of November. No, it's a
-
long race. You're being stretched stretched, and this meaning right
-
when you are cover means you are like you're in this,
-
but you are still waiting for that release. Do you
-
know that when you're stressed like that, when your body
-
is tense, you just want release. You're like enough, really,
-
I'm so stretched, and we're like, can someone just release
-
me from this tension? Yeah? Yeah? Am I making sense?
-
When you're always so stretched by different demands, you know,
-
financial walls, whatever burdens, you're so stretched and you get snappy,
-
you get angry, you want to snap. True like this rope.
-
When the tension is too much, people snap and then
-
they break down and they burn out. True or not,
-
But why they use this word Cavale to say that
-
there is this anticipation, hope to hope, to wait on
-
the Lord is saying I'm waiting for this release. Lord,
-
I'm waiting for this release because without this release, I'm
-
gonna snap. Right. And this waiting, this waiting on the
-
Lord is not saying God, you change my circumstance. It's
-
saying God, I'm waiting until you come. I'm waiting. Do
-
you friends, do you believe that Jesus will come? That
-
is a hope? Is that not a hope that Jesus
-
will come? And so while we are waiting on the Lord,
-
we we need to remember that Jesus is coming. And
-
because he's coming, I can smile at the storm. Do
-
you know that Jesus, because he's coming, doesn't matter whatever
-
things you know happens in my life, It's gonna be okay. Now,
-
Very interestingly, I want to do another illustration and I'm
-
gonna ask other people to help me with this. He's
-
gonna come on stage right, and I need to go downstage.
-
You hold this don't hang yourself. Okay. Now the other
-
word for cover, right is actually the court, you know. No,
-
you hold it the bigger and I'm the small end. Okay.
-
So so now when I am holding on the word
-
cover is a cord, and it means I'm tightly bounded,
-
kneaded together. Right, And it's very important for you to
-
know who are you needed against. So if I say
-
I am right now in the pit, right, I'm feeling tired,
-
I'm feeling depressed, I'm feeling helpless. Oh whelm right, we say,
-
then do what? Okay, you know, wait upon the lord.
-
But waiting is not a passive activity. Remember I say
-
that waiting is not passive is saying I'm gonna hold
-
on to this, the one that gives me strength. Correct. Now,
-
I tell friends, I ask you, if I hold it
-
with my hands like that, right, you think I will
-
get tired, I'm gonna get tired, right, And how long
-
can I hold? If I'm really down in the pit,
-
and I'm like, even if if God has a strength
-
to pull me up, I will let go. Tr Not true,
-
not even if God. If I'm right right now, down
-
in a pit, right, and God sends me this as
-
my helpline. I hold onto it, but I'm gonna get
-
tired out and I'm gonna let go and I'm gonna
-
fall back in. So what it means right to cover
-
is to bind myself. You can slowly release, Yeah, to
-
bind myself, to bind myself with the one who gives
-
me hope. Do you know the court of tree folds
-
is not easily broken? And you can see that as
-
I bind myself with the one who gives me hope,
-
more and more what you see is less of me
-
and more of God. Amen. Do you see that? Hallelujah?
-
And can I tell you friends, the only way that
-
we can continue to bind ourselves with the Lord is
-
to wait upon him. Amen, to continue to say God,
-
I know I'm in the pit right now. I'm not
-
gonna look for my circumstances to change. I'm going to
-
focus on the one that I'm bound with. I'm gonna
-
continue to bind myself with the Lord until all the
-
people see in me. Right, it's not me, but what
-
they see is Christ. Amen. Amen, Let's give God praise.
-
That is God's illustration for us. So that what you
-
do when you wait, you know, and do you know
-
the promise is given to us. Now, what is the antidoor? Then?
-
What else can we learn from Isaiah? What is the
-
antidoor to tiredness? And it simply means when you wait
-
upon the Lord is to remember. Remember Church, remember what
-
the Lord has done for you. That is the kind
-
of active waiting. You know, as you're actively waiting, how
-
do you bind yourself with the Lord? You remember? Why
-
do we remember? Because we forget true or not, what
-
the Lord has done for you? The last thing all
-
of you forgot ready, right, ask you to share that.
-
The many don't have that the many because we've forgotten
-
what the Lord has done for us? So how do
-
we remember? How do we remember? And I love how
-
the prophet Isaiah teaches us. Let's move on quickly to
-
one versus A hit. Do you know that I'm going
-
backwards Isiah thirty one. Let's go through verse twenty eight.
-
What is verse twenty eight? Is the next light? Do
-
we have our next light? Okay? So this is from
-
verse ten? Okay, before that, I don't have, but I
-
want you to read verse twenty eight. It says, here
-
have you not known? Do you have your bibles? What
-
is verse twenty says? Have you not known have you
-
not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of
-
the ends of the earth, neither things nor is weary. Hey, hello,
-
what a good way to remember? Right when we are tired,
-
we remember that God is never tired. He is never weary.
-
His understanding is unsearchable. Wei, M I feel that? A. Yeah,
-
I only know so little. But God, do you remember
-
do you know who is the God that you call
-
your God? His understanding is beyond us, right, His ways
-
are highest, his thoughts are higher than ours. That is
-
the God that we serve. So let's maybe tit again, right,
-
and remember the first image I told you, what was
-
your image of God? Remember the very first question I
-
asked you, do you have that image in mind? And
-
then the second image was the image of the ego.
-
Now the third image. If you want to just open
-
your mind, I'm We're just gonna read from verse ten, okay,
-
all the way down. Just open your minds, open your
-
minds to see to remember who is this God that
-
we call our lord? Verse ten. Yes, the sovereign Lord
-
is coming in power. Can we say an amen to that?
-
Do you know that God is powerful, his sovereign He
-
will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his
-
reward with him as he comes. You know, Wow, you
-
come not just in power, but you come with a gift.
-
You come with a reward Verse eleven. He will feed
-
his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs
-
in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He
-
will gently lead the mothership with their young. If you're
-
feeling tired, can you remember our good shepherd? Let's move on,
-
verst Off. Who else has held the oceans in his hand?
-
Who has measured all the heavens with his fingers? Are
-
you anyone can measure the heavens as you to measure
-
your body? Or okay, all right, with your fingers? The
-
Lord has measured the heavens. Who else knows the weight
-
of the earth? Anyone knows? You know? You only know
-
your own weight ray weight of the earth? Or has
-
weighed the mountains and the hills on a scale? Who
-
is able to advise the spirit of the Lord? Who
-
knows enough to give him advice or teach him? Has
-
the Lord ever needed anyone's advice? Does he need instruction
-
about what is good? Sometimes we tell God right, we
-
negotiate with him. Hey, God, I know, I know this
-
guy is good for me. I know this girl is
-
good for me. Go in sensitive plazer. But did the
-
Lord say this boy is good for you? Did the
-
Lord say this girl is good for you? Take that home? Okay?
-
Did someone teach him what is right or show him
-
the path of justice? No, for all the nations of
-
the world are but a drop in the bucket? Are
-
you scared of the nations, the powers, the armies. God says,
-
they are like a drop in the bucket. They are
-
nothing more than dust on not even nothing. No, that's
-
that's that you on the scales. He picks up the
-
whole earth as though it were a grain of sand. Wow,
-
I cannot find a smaller earth in that. That that's
-
the smallest picture of the earth in a the hand
-
of someone Verse sixteen. All the wood in Lebanons forests
-
and all labanonce animals would not be enough to make
-
a burn offering worthy of our God. The nations of
-
the world are worth nothing to him in his eyes.
-
They count for less than nothing, mere emptiness and froth
-
Verse eighteen. To whom can you compare God? What image
-
can you find to resemble him? Is there an image?
-
Is this something? God is bigger. Whatever you think you
-
can imagine, God is bigger Verse nineteen. Can he be
-
compared to an idle form in a mole overlaid with
-
gold and decorated with silver chains? Or if people are
-
too poor for that, they might at least choose wood
-
that won't decay and a skilled craftsman to carve an
-
image that won't fall down. These are some images of
-
idols Verse twenty one. Heaven you heard, don't you understand? Ex? Church?
-
Are you deaf to the words of God? Ex? Church?
-
The words he gave before the world began? Are you
-
so ignorant? God sits above the circle of the earth.
-
The people below seem like grasshoppers to him. He spreads
-
out the heavens like a curtain and makes his ten
-
from them. He judges the great people of the world
-
and brings them all to nothing. They hardly get started,
-
barely taking root, And when he blows on them and
-
they wither, the wind carries them off like chaff Verse
-
twenty five. To whom will you compare me? Who is
-
my equal? Asks the Holy One? Look up into the heavens. Friends,
-
if you're feeling very down right, can I just encourage
-
you one day. You just go out of your house,
-
look up into the stars, look up into the heavens
-
who created all the stars. He brings them out like
-
an army, one after another, calling each by its name.
-
Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a
-
single one is missing. Oh Jacob, how can you say
-
that the Lord does not see your trouble? Oh Israel?
-
How can you say God ignores your rights? Amen? Why
-
do we accuse that God has forgotten about us? It's
-
because we've forgotten. And so part of the way we
-
bind ourselves to the Lord is to remember. Every time
-
you remember, you strengthen yourself. You know, you're not holding
-
on me, you're just your bare arms anymore. You're you're
-
infusing your entire body with the word. You know, and
-
it is that word. Do you know that if I
-
was bound like that all the way, I don't need
-
to do anything really right? The Lord just leaves me out.
-
You know what I'm saying. I don't need to it's
-
my own strength because He is the one who gives
-
me power. But I I need to bind myself with
-
the Lord. That is our part to do. Friends, that
-
is what we need to do, and that's something that
-
all of us find it so hard to do because
-
we forget, we get distracted by things of this world.
-
And that's why by coming here listening to me, you're
-
binding yourself one call at the time, you do know it,
-
So one call at the time. Thing, it's austraight away,
-
one day done. It's a day by day process. It's
-
a day by day every war, every home, every preservice,
-
every worship Sunday. You come, you come, You're binding yourself
-
to the world of God, to the power of God,
-
to the presence of God until people see you. Hey,
-
this on Christler Where is elder? People don't know, but
-
she's behind low Christ because she just continues to bind
-
herself every day, praying, interceding, speaking in tongues and binding
-
myself to the Lord until we become behind the scenes.
-
It's not about us, yeah, Church, can I tell you
-
it's not about us? Why do I say it's not
-
about us? Let's go even further up right, Let's read
-
from Versus six to nine, because we have a message
-
to tell. Do you know that we have a message? Friends,
-
We have a message. So us being bound by the
-
Lord like that, it's not just so that, Okay, so
-
that I can go to Heaven by myself. The reason
-
why we strengthen ourselves is because there is an assignment
-
for us. Can I tell you what's an assignment? Versus
-
six to nine. It says this. So the voice Isaiah,
-
the prophet, is saying this to us. As he prophesied
-
to the nation of Israel. A voice says, shout right here, Isaiah,
-
the word shout, and he asks what should I shout?
-
Shout that the people are like the grass. Their beauty
-
fades away quickly as the flowers in the field. The
-
grass withers and the flowers faith beneath the breath of
-
the Lord. And so it is with people. The grass
-
withers and the flowers faith. But the word of the
-
Lord stands forever. We sang that song ray, the word
-
of the Lord stands forever. Oh Sion, Oh ex Church,
-
Oh ex Church, Messenger of good news, this is our signment.
-
Shout from the mountaintops. Shout it lo no o ex Church,
-
shout and do not be afraid. Tell the towns of Subangjaya,
-
your God is coming. Hallelujah. The reason why we are
-
in Subangjaya is because this is our assignment. Let's stop
-
with summit Forasla. Let's tell the towns in summit. Let's
-
tell all the shop lots in Summit. Your God is coming.
-
Once we're done here, let's move out Subanjaya. Your God
-
is coming. Amen. That is our simon. Hallelujah. Do you
-
receive your assignment? God is coming. And I like to
-
end with this because you know, as we remember our
-
role with our Lord, as we bind ourselves so that
-
we are strengthened to be the messenger. And I like
-
to close us up by just going back to the
-
very first few verses of Isaiah forty. Are you ready, beautiful,
-
remember thirty nine chapters of prophecies of destruction, of being
-
exiled or being oppressed. Now Here is the good news.
-
If you're looking for good news. Verse forty, Chapter forty,
-
Verse one, Comfort, Comfort, my people, says your God. This
-
is the assignment that God gave me to you. He says,
-
comfort his people. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, tell her that
-
her sad days are gone and her scenes are pardon
-
God has pardoned your sins. Yes, the Lord has punished
-
her twice over for all her sins. Listen is the
-
voice of someone shouting, clear the way through the wilderness
-
for the Lord. Make as straight highway through the waste land.
-
Amen for our God. Feel in the valleys and level
-
the mountains and heels, strengthen the curves and smooth out
-
the rough spaces. Then the glory of the Lord will
-
be revealed and all people will see together. The Lord
-
has spoken. Amen. What the Lord has spoken shall not
-
return to him void. And so this is the context
-
of Isaiah fourteen, when God gave us and he prophesied
-
that there will be comfort, and he taught us all
-
the way how we remember and how we renew our strength.
-
I want to bring it back to the final slide,
-
and I believe that is the cross. This is a
-
combination of everything that we are hoping for. Without Jesus
-
dying on a cross, there is no hope, because it
-
is only through his death and his resurrection that we
-
have the hope of saying, yes, Lord, I know it's tough.
-
I know I'm going through stuff and it keeps coming.
-
But you are coming. Amen. Do you know things can
-
be thrown at you, But the moment you bind yourself
-
more and more to the Lord, it doesn't matter anymore.
-
It doesn't matter what comes your way, because Jesus is coming. Amen.
