You're listening to a message to go from axt church.
-
We hope this message will light up your tea.
-
When I was praying on what to share on revival, right,
-
and I realized that actually revival starts with hearing. Let
-
us think in revival starts with hearing. Now, a few
-
foundations that I want.
-
To lay first. Firstly, does God speak?
-
What do you think does God speak? I think it's
-
a resounding yes.
-
All right?
-
What are the ways? In what ways does God speak?
-
Words? Obviously words? What else? In many ways?
-
Like you?
-
Because we gotta help each adela, so can you be
-
very specific because we are here to learn.
-
The practical parts about the Word of God? Right? Uh,
-
you know, yeah, many ways. But what are some of
-
the tangible ways that God speaks? I heard words? What
-
kind of words? Through what? Throughout medium? True scripture? All right?
-
So you know that in the Old Testament God spoke.
-
It seems as though when you read your Bible, right,
-
it seems as though God was speaking audibly.
-
Yeah, right?
-
So like an example of how when God called Samuel
-
a little boy Samuel, and he was sleeping and God
-
called him Samuel Samuel, and then he ran to who
-
eli right, his men thought at time, and he said,
-
did you call me? Then Eli said, no, I'm sleeping,
-
go back to sleep.
-
Right.
-
Three times he heard the voice of the Lord and
-
he thought it was Eli, right, and then suddenly he likenah, oh,
-
I think someone is calling you.
-
The man above is calling you. Then he told Eli
-
what to Samuel what to do?
-
Right?
-
Uh?
-
You know that Moses spoke with God face to face.
-
You know, if there's any one who ever spoke to
-
God faced almost face to face that but God says,
-
you know you cannot see my face or else you will.
-
You cannot hand my glory.
-
But he had a close intimate encounter with God, right,
-
not just one encounter relationship.
-
Right.
-
So you know that in the olden days, in the
-
olden days, in the by Old Testament, God spoke to
-
them audibly.
-
What about in the New Testament?
-
Tell me what are some of the ways which God speaks.
-
Dreams and interpretation okay, yes, visions okay, Visions and dreams okay, okay,
-
what else? Signs and wonders Okay, I'm some more.
-
Some more? Nature and creation some more? Some more?
-
Sorry, true, Paul, okay, okay, yes, yes, that a lot
-
of the New Testament is written by Paul, So definitely,
-
I think we're missing the key and the biggest one Jesus.
-
It took us a while to get there.
-
Jesus made flesh. Yes, so Jesus himself was the Word
-
of God who became human to come and speak to us.
-
Amen. So Jesus is speaking true the Word.
-
And of course when Jesus ascended to heaven, he left
-
the Holy.
-
Spirit, and so now we can hear the Holy Spirit. Okay,
-
so we have to firstly establish that God speaks all right.
-
Then the next question is this, why do we want
-
to hear God? Have you ever asked yourself? Actually? Why
-
am I? You know, there's this question that's going on
-
in my mind, like, actually, why do we want to
-
hear God?
-
Roight, what do you think? Why do we want to
-
hear from God? For you very holy answer to walk
-
in His will?
-
How many of you want to hear from God because
-
you want to walk in His will? Yeah?
-
Okay, well, I see hands lifted up and it's good.
-
But usually right, usually we seek God's voice, especially in
-
times of decision, true or not? Ah, So let's go
-
through something. So majority of the time when we say
-
I cannot hear God?
-
Right?
-
Is at those times when we're desperate, were that spray
-
for an answer?
-
True or not?
-
If life is like normal? Right, do you have this question?
-
How come I know hear from God?
-
God?
-
No? God?
-
No? Leesla Le's right? So usually it'd.
-
Be like those times are you're desperate, you have to
-
take either left or right.
-
You know, if you just finish your high schooling life,
-
which college do I go to? Right?
-
Those are the big live decisions or which girls shall
-
I marry?
-
You know, in this congregation, those kind of big decisions.
-
Then we say, how come God is not speaking? Okay?
-
So we one direction we want guidance for decisions is
-
what should I do?
-
Right?
-
So maybe the underlying motive of why we want to
-
hear from God it is like okailer, So the motive
-
for John is, you.
-
Know, I want to know his will so that I
-
do the right thing correct, so that I'm doing the
-
right thing. Okay.
-
So let's go to the next point is what else
-
do we seek God for? So it's direction and the
-
next one is reassurance or comfort?
-
True or not.
-
We heard a lot of this just now when you
-
meditated on the word of God's scripture.
-
Some of you had the impression was that me Hello, Oh,
-
that was God. God was speaking to you.
-
Right, and it comes in the form of reassurance, comfort,
-
especially during challenging times, uncertain times. So the question then
-
you are asking, is God, are you with me or not?
-
Are you still with me? So challenging? You know, I'm sick,
-
let body, you know, everything is pain. Are you with
-
me still?
-
We want that assurance and that therefore we want to
-
hear God. Right, God, just tell me that you're still
-
with me in this right, That's why we want to
-
hear from God. What is the third point? What else
-
do we want to hear from God? Confirmation?
-
Try not?
-
Sometimes you already receive the Word, and can I tell
-
you the Word tells you what God wants to speak
-
to you, if only you will listen and not harden
-
your heart.
-
Right.
-
Remember in Hebrews it says that insums if you will
-
listen to him and not harden your heart.
-
So I believe this is.
-
My personal conviction that God is speaking all the time.
-
It's just that most of the time we are not listening.
-
We are not listening, you know, so we cannot say
-
how come God doesn't speak it's just that we are
-
not postured to hear from him. Right, and just now
-
you read it was be still and know that I
-
am God.
-
Okay, we're gonna.
-
Get into the key of how to really hear from
-
the Lord. Okay, so is this really you? Let's go
-
to the next one. Next one is correction?
-
Ah. How many of you say, God, I want to
-
hear from you any wrong things in my life?
-
Ha?
-
Anyone less sir? Right? Oh God?
-
Okay, that's your sister Joey. Many of us don't even
-
come to this stage of saying God, I want to
-
hear you show me where in my life is not right.
-
We don't get to this stage many of us, honestly,
-
honestly the first three. Yes, we want direction, we want
-
some confirmation, we want assurance and comfort.
-
But how many of us come to God and just say, God,
-
which area of my life is not right? Can you
-
show it to me or not?
-
Most of us don't even dare to pray that prayer
-
right on there to get there. We're like, Gods, okay,
-
you skip over this. Let's stop at one two entry.
-
Let's not do for okay, because it's saying God, what
-
do I need to change. It's a hard winer, Okay,
-
So we.
-
Run away from this and finally, finally, I think, above
-
all elmost, all these other motives for one thing to
-
hear from God, most of the time we miss the
-
ultimate reason for one thing to hear from God. And
-
this is the final one. Relationship and intimacy. We want something.
-
We want God to tell us boyfriend A or boyfriend B. Right,
-
we want us to tell God PwC or ey.
-
We want God to give us those kinds of things.
-
What do I do? But we forget that. Actually, what
-
God is after is this, you know.
-
This relationship with us. It's not just telling you what
-
to do, right, It's a real relationship. Is like do
-
you know me?
-
Do you know me? Do you want to know me? So?
-
I think we want to get here. Yeah. Amen.
-
And even as we go into this prayer of season,
-
season of prayer and fasting, you turn this coming Saturday.
-
In fact, we have to start preparing right now.
-
Are we going to go into our prayer time with
-
a prayer list? Lord, pray for this, pray for this,
-
pray for this, pray for this. Right, but it should
-
be God, I just want to know you. Let that
-
be your first and foremost. I want to know you.
-
That's the reason why I'm praying. That's the reason why
-
I'm fasting.
-
I want to know you more. Amen. Amen.
-
Okay, So let's we've established that God still speaks. We've
-
established why we want to hear from God.
-
So let's go into how right, very practical, how do
-
we hear from God? How do we hear from God?
-
I think many people struggle with this? Correct not? Okay,
-
So let's be honest.
-
How many of you, if someone asks you how do
-
you hear from God? You are confident to be able
-
to say, yes, this is how I hear from God?
-
Anyone?
-
No, okay, anyone got more doubts? And you kind of like, okay,
-
share me, share me?
-
What is? How do we actually hear from God? Nobody?
-
Are we neutral? Right now? Who wants to hear from God?
-
Who wants to know how to hear from God? Okay?
-
Half of you? The rest of you I don't know.
-
Okay, So let let's go into how we can hear
-
from God?
-
Okay, now I want to go.
-
Let us go back to It starts by knowing. Remember
-
I told you that knowing and hearing Revival starts with
-
knowing God. Yeah, revival starts with knowing God and how
-
we hear from God.
-
It starts from this place.
-
Of knowing, being intimate, being in a relationship with God.
-
Okay, So now.
-
Let's go and study a little bit of this word no.
-
Do you know that no is also in our vision statement?
-
But the earth should be.
-
Filled with the knowledge of the glory of the lot, right, No,
-
this is no is a very big word man.
-
You know, when I first became a Christian, one of
-
the things that really struck me, right was when the
-
preacher at that time, I can't remember who said that, actually,
-
this word is so intimate. It says that Abraham. Okay,
-
I want to use Conchin, but never mind, Abraham knew
-
Sarah and then they had a child, right, it did
-
not something that's very close, something that will actually cause.
-
Life to be birth to be formed. They're kind of knowing,
-
you know.
-
And do you know that if you know God, if
-
you know your Shepherd, there's going to be life in you.
-
Amen. If you don't know God, then there is no life.
-
There is death in us. Do you know that? Actually,
-
if we do not Christ at all, right, we're all
-
walking day. That's what the scripture says.
-
The scripture says that all of us have fallen, you know,
-
short of the glory of God, and we've fallen into sin,
-
and therefore the penalty of sin is death.
-
So there's no way out. So actually we're all walking
-
day until Jesus came and until we knew him and
-
we call him our personal Lord and Savior. Then that
-
is breath of life. Do you know?
-
I was just talking to Bradley just now, you know,
-
and we were just talking about prince versus priest.
-
You know, she didn't skip church. She attends church.
-
You know, she's in cyberjayah, and everything is fm in
-
the womb the baby, everything is from except the lungs
-
because the more the baby is delivered, and you know
-
what they have to do slip the butt right for
-
what so that the baby will take the first breath
-
and open up the lungs so that there is life.
-
Amazing right God, How amazing God is? And do you
-
know that when you encounter God.
-
Whoa life comes into you, Amen that praise God.
-
I think God deserves the praise that when he comes into.
-
Our life, there's the breath of God. That there's the whah,
-
the spirit of God that is alive in us. Wow.
-
Hey, friends, if you're a believer in Christ and you
-
know God right, there's no reason for you to keep quiet.
-
Amen.
-
Just like the baby cries out with the whole lungs.
-
It's a sign of health, you know, it's a sign
-
of health. If your baby not healthy, wa ah, then
-
you're like God. You're like your baby shouting. God is
-
alive with the first breath.
-
And I know grandmother jack right, I'm sure when she
-
was so excited.
-
For the delivery of the first grandchild. Whoa, that first
-
cry is a cry unto God. Amazing?
-
How God is so so amazing? All right, so let's
-
let's go now. No, no, okay, what is the word is?
-
Let's go to the next one. There is a Hebrew word.
-
It means to YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA.
-
No, no, don't use it, YadA YadA, YadA. But to
-
YadA what does it mean?
-
It means to perceive, to see, to find out, to
-
be acquainted with, to recognize, to acknowledge, to confess and intimate. Okay,
-
so this is what no means and more Okay, I
-
think the English vocalibulary doesn't adequately capture everything.
-
The full breath of No who God is. Amen. So
-
this is what No is. Now let's go to the
-
next light.
-
So I'm gonna give you a few perspectives on how
-
we actually hear from God in this four quadrant.
-
Right, it's k N O W. So the first one,
-
of course is to know him. How well do you
-
know him? So if I ask, if your friend asks you,
-
how do you know God?
-
What would you say to your friend? Julie read the Bible.
-
Let's go straight to it right now. How many of
-
you read the Bible?
-
Good?
-
And it's something that we sometimes we take for granted,
-
right we say, okay, let's just read the Bible. Lah,
-
But can I ask you another question? When you read
-
the Bible, did they bring life to you?
-
You have to test it.
-
You have to test your because it's not so much
-
that maybe your Bible version is not so good. Lad,
-
that's why he's not speaking to you. Maybe you're saying
-
it's a wrong version. Maybe you're saying and nothing is
-
speaking to me. Have you heard of that before? Nothing
-
is speaking to me. I read it like five times,
-
but it's just like numbers. But I think it's nothing
-
to do with the word. It's everything to do with
-
us our posture. How are we coming are we? Are
-
we coming from an intellectual viewpoint? Okay, let me just
-
read the Bible. Let me know everything that there is
-
to know about You know what the scriptures are, and
-
that's it. You're looking for an intellectual stimulation. If you
-
come to the Word of God with that kind of
-
intellectual stimulation, can I tell you that many times you'll
-
go away disappointed because you'll say, this doesn't make sense.
-
It's not logical.
-
How can a man who is dead four days be
-
raised to death be.
-
Raised to life? Right? Logically? Does it make sense or not? Nola?
-
Then what we do We take.
-
A Jesus and we cut the scriptures. You say this
-
one cannot believe. This, one cannot believe, right, If that's
-
our motive of reading the Word of God. Now, I
-
you know when I was preparing this, right then God
-
dropped this verse to me. And I want to say
-
this to you. Okay, So Church, my encouragement to you
-
is this, Let's go to the next life. God says,
-
don't do your quiet time. Don't do your quiet time. Okay,
-
So those are online watching me right now, you're saying, whoa,
-
this is blessed for me?
-
Right?
-
What is this church elder telling me don't do your
-
quiet time? Because it seems right now that quiet time
-
becomes an activity, it becomes a checklist. Right, So Leader
-
asked to you, eron, you gotta do your quiet time
-
or not?
-
Ah?
-
God, I read one verse, laugh, I say thank you
-
Lord for my lunch.
-
I pray what okay? No, no, this is not exactly
-
I'm just using him as escapegoat. So we do quiet time?
-
So so church, don't do quiet.
-
Time instead, what God wants us to do is be quiet.
-
It's very different, you know, doing a quiet time versus
-
being quiet and posturing ourselves to listen to God is
-
two very different things.
-
Do you see that or not? Now?
-
Maybe I think I want to ask people now, hey,
-
you gotta do your quiet time. Now I want to
-
ask how's your quality time? How's your quality time with
-
the Lord? Because when I say what's your quality time?
-
You cannot say, oh I did a really er No,
-
I'm asking you how is your quality time? Because the
-
greatest can I tell you, the greatest joy and reward
-
that you go into being a place of stillness and
-
being quiet and listening from the Lord.
-
Is you come away not with an answer.
-
You come away saying God, I'm with you, I have
-
been with you, and that is all that matters. You know,
-
you might not get your answers yet, you might not
-
know what job.
-
You need to go into. Yet it does not matter,
-
because what matter was God, you are with me. I
-
knew you.
-
That is the that's the assets of knowing whether we
-
have been with the Lord.
-
So just do you see that?
-
It's much deeper than Okay, I worship, I sang one song.
-
You know, I prayed for all the lists I you know,
-
I read the Bible one chapter and then you go
-
away there you're like, actually, what.
-
Do you read? I can't remember true or not most
-
of it. You're smart, right, because it's not only me.
-
You go away and then someone as said, actually, what
-
did you read today? I don't know? Lah, what did
-
God speak to you? He didn't see anything?
-
So, friends, can you see what I'm getting at? You
-
already know what you want to get into, right, meaning
-
you want to get into this place where you're just
-
hungry for God, like saying, I'm gonna put all these
-
things aside, I'm gonna.
-
Put all my prayer lists aside. I'm gonna put my
-
my agenda. I'm here for your agenda. What are you
-
one thing to say to me, Lauren?
-
Sometimes it's a word of reassurance. Sometimes it's an admonishment,
-
it's a rebuke. Sometimes it's just saying, go and be
-
a blessing. Do you know that every day God wants.
-
To speak to us.
-
It's just that we've either we brushed him aside, we
-
didn't acknowledge him, We didn't enter. They didn't have the
-
right posture to enter before our king. And that's why
-
you know, if you come chinchang inside to see a king, right,
-
do you think he.
-
Will lie on you or not? Nola? Hello, come on church,
-
Let's have some respect. Can or not? Let's have some
-
respect to whom we are meeting. Our posture should be one.
-
Of laying down, prostrating before the Lord, saying that you
-
are Lord, I am not. If you really want to
-
get right with God, you have to say God, it
-
is you, it's.
-
Not me, it's not about me.
-
I feel that that's always what we miss, and therefore
-
it becomes routine, mechanical boring.
-
And then we stopped straight.
-
We stopped doing after a while, and then sometimes you
-
walk with Christians right the tree years in church, God,
-
do quiet that one was the last time you opened
-
the Bible for yourself two years ago when I was
-
in church. Come on, Church, I think we we've gone
-
way past, you know, the baby stage where we need
-
to be fed. Every time you tell me what to do.
-
Know you as matured sayings of the Lord. I'm calling
-
you that, our friends, you are saints of the Lord.
-
You need to learn how to feed yourself.
-
You need to learn how to go and know how
-
to get into God's presence because without God's presence, there
-
is no power. And that's why we are in effective Christians.
-
That's why we are bound by fear. Everything also cannot
-
I cannot, I cannot, I cannot. You see how weak
-
we are as Christians, how loud to be effective in
-
the world.
-
It's because we have not built that place, that secret
-
place be God. You know the mighty things that Jesus
-
could do, It's because of the secret place that he
-
spent with the Father. If Jesus had to you know,
-
Jesus is modeling for us the way that to.
-
Be strengthened, to be strong, to be assured, to have authority.
-
It comes from that secret, quiet place and I cannot
-
I cannot tell you to do it.
-
You will have to do it yourself.
-
We can't monitor you, not a hello erin you go
-
into your ciet place or not. Maybe the leaders will
-
check that, but you yourself know whether you have met
-
with the Lord right, Only you, yourself would have the
-
assetus to say, God, I've been with you, and you
-
know what, there's't matter who else is gonna.
-
I'm every morning, I'm.
-
Waking up, I'm excited. I'm running, you know, I'm running
-
to my cordet place because like God, Yes, new fresh
-
man are today fresh mana do you know? God wants
-
to give us fresh manner? Hey, whatever you learn, you know,
-
Oh it's okay, write it down. It's it's principles that
-
you learn. But God wants to give you fresh manner. Hello, friends,
-
do you want fresh break from God or not?
-
He wants to feed you, He wants to feed you,
-
grow you.
-
But we're like, yeah, it's okay. I don't want to
-
make time for him. You know some kids, right, they're
-
so lazy. Right, you put foot in the mouth and
-
you have to like put them qu qu que.
-
My mom was like that.
-
She told us a story when she was really young. Right,
-
she would just daydream and then her grandmother will put
-
the foot inside the mouth and then she.
-
Just sit there for one hour.
-
Then she has to take a pin from her hair
-
show her. No, hey, chu chu, hey, you don't want
-
me to take a pin from my hair.
-
I don't have pin in my head? Did you show you? Right?
-
Holy Spirit wal to show you and take way? Hello?
-
Are you serious with me? And not? Hey? Do you
-
want to be serious with God? This? Yere? Do you
-
want to grow? We all want a grower, you know,
-
because this is this is what it's all about.
-
If we don't know God, we don't know the word,
-
then I don't know what else we know. You might
-
know everything in the world. Now AI can help you
-
with that.
-
But if you don't know God, you had lost you
-
are lost yourself. But Jesus is here today. He says,
-
come back amen, Now the test? Right?
-
Sometimes we want to hear like okay, so I'm giving
-
you guidance now in terms of it, like sometimes when
-
we want to hear from God for specific things.
-
Now, right, how do we actually test?
-
Can I tell you the biggest test and the very
-
important test is the test of scripture. Okay, So many
-
of you say, are you actually never read the Bible before?
-
So don't know what God says? War So, because you
-
don't know what God says, then how can you make
-
decisions in accordance to his will?
-
Like what John says, I want God, we want a shortcut, right.
-
We don't want to read the whole textbook. We say, God,
-
you just give me the answer to question the te.
-
True or not. Let's say you're taking an EXAMA.
-
You have a whole textbook, right, You're supposed to study
-
to find the answer, right. But many of us we
-
come to praying and hearing from God. You tell me,
-
answer to thirty nine is what? Answer to thirty is what?
-
And then we just answer right because we just want
-
to get it right, and we think, yes, I score.
-
Hey, hello, life is not about scoring, you know. Okay.
-
So some areas are that I'm going to touch on
-
that you might feel a bit out and okay, because
-
God's work.
-
Is like that. Wanna it will out youla, it will
-
wake you up. Okay.
-
So number one area of relationship, let's go area relationship.
-
I want to say this to our young people and
-
this is written in the word of God from Second Cridan.
-
You don't believe me, you go and read the book
-
of Second Corinthians.
-
Do not be unequally yoke with unbelievers. Is it clear
-
or not clear?
-
So straightforward? No, God doesn't means it's words. Okay, we
-
have all these kinds of excuse.
-
Us they became? Did God really say that? You know that?
-
That is? Can I tell you that that's how the
-
devil deceived? If you are being deceived?
-
You know, because what the devil planted in Eve's head
-
was just seeds of doubt. Did God really say, cannot
-
eat from the truth that fruit, cannot eat the fruit
-
from that tree?
-
Did God really say that?
-
Many of you, if you're thinking this, you're saying, did
-
God really say this?
-
Why God's so unmerciful? What about the unbelievers?
-
They also need to get saved, what you know, and
-
when I'm with them, I can save them.
-
You know, hello, Really the only one.
-
Doing saving is Jesus. Okay, we don't do the saving
-
friends relationships.
-
Let's go quickly to the next point.
-
What other areas ethical decision? Sometimes we ask God like,
-
oh God, you know, do I do this? Business deal
-
or not.
-
I'm talking to all our business owners now, oh, I'm
-
talking to all of us. We are paying texts? Hey,
-
you know text is around the corner, summission of text? Right?
-
Are you? I want more tax? Reliever? Do do do?
-
Do do? Do?
-
Okay, never mind what there's a meta. You know they
-
won't check me on, won't audit me on? Right, and
-
God's what says the Lord. The tests dis honor sciales,
-
but accurate waits fine favor with him? Heyo, you want
-
favor with God or not? Do you want favor? We
-
got friends? Then why you going chips kate ler?
-
You have to pay?
-
You know, I think other pingle prickages before right, get
-
to sees that what he sees us?
-
La?
-
Give to God? What is God?
-
Give to God? Your integrity can or not? I have
-
to remind myself this.
-
You know. Sometimes it's easy to say, yeah, it's Okayla.
-
You just put all the text released, right, no medical
-
bill also just put in there.
-
It's a honest Lah. And then you think about it.
-
You why is my hushole deceitfuler? God so overs few
-
ring its right?
-
We disobey the Lord and we risk falling out of
-
favor with him. So, friends, can I encourage you that
-
God's word is very straightforward. It's just that sometimes, uh,
-
we read it, then we don't do anything about it. Okay,
-
let's move on. Let's move on to the next one. Emotions. Huh.
-
We are led by emotions, friends, Many of our decisions
-
are led by emotions.
-
Agree or not?
-
I feel, Sola, I feel this prompting. You know, I
-
really like this girl. You know, she's the most beautiful
-
girl I've ever seen in my life.
-
You know, she makes me feel like a man. Gonna
-
wa this verse. But emotions, right, feelings, feelings, you know,
-
you on the ceiling.
-
There's this part about us, this you know. Unforgiveness is one.
-
Of the big, big thing in our lives.
-
And we say, well, I cannot forgive this brother who's
-
sin against me. I cannot forgive this leader who says
-
something about me, you know, call me out or whatever
-
wrong me. Then God's what says this war, get rid
-
of all bitterness, rage and anger forgiving each.
-
Other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.
-
Hey, hello, you mean God God's work provided for all
-
these things. He did, you know, because he knows that
-
we are humans. And that the many things that we
-
need guidance on. Hey, so hello, guidance is given ready
-
a scripture. Okay, I need to move on.
-
Let's go on. Let's move on to the next light. Priorities.
-
No time lah to do this, no time lave to invite,
-
no time law to serve, no time law for anything. Okay?
-
And what is God's word? You say you want God
-
to speak to you? Right?
-
God speak to me about my life?
-
And God says, sicks the kingdom of God, and all
-
these things shall be added unto you.
-
So he's speaking already. What are you doing about it?
-
Next verse hah Emphesians five. This is God's reminder to us.
-
He's speaking to us. He says, dear ex church, be
-
very careful then, how you live making the most of
-
every opportunity? Have we been making the best of every
-
opportunity given to us?
-
Amen? Oh sa, some of you are thinking, oh, actually
-
all these things right? Speaks to me? All right? So
-
this is one area. Can I tell you if you
-
really have a like.
-
A situation, a circumstance where you say God, I really
-
need an answer from you, can I encourage you to
-
test it against scripture and say, God what is crazy? Okay,
-
I give you a chance.
-
You use Google? Can or not?
-
Course, many of us don't know where to start, right,
-
never mind? Lie, there is a search engine.
-
That you say, what does the Bible say about the
-
da da da da da ah? And you see what
-
the scriptures say? Can or not? You all have Google.
-
You search for everything else except the word of God.
-
Ouch true or not true?
-
Just ask what you know?
-
And you know there's this whole tension between using Internet
-
AI and you know, how how do we hear from God?
-
Right? And ask the lot God? Is it wrong to
-
use AI? Because when I'm searching this right, I actually
-
use AI? Is no? Is it wrong? God? So I'm
-
thinking I'm trying and trying to hear from God right?
-
And God drop this thought to me, He says, you
-
think I'm not in control of Yeah, you can time
-
any question you want. Do you know that the answer
-
and not is actually ordained by the lot? Also it
-
can be you know. So I'm not gonna say that
-
AI is above God. I'm saying, God, You're above everything else.
-
And if this is gonna be a tool, I'm using
-
it as a tool. And I still need to test
-
it against scripture. There's all these thoughts. Right, then I say, okay,
-
God is there what does your word really say? And
-
then I go deeper into God's word and I'm putting
-
God's word as priority over everything else that anyone says.
-
So God is above ai. Amen. So it's not that
-
you can use cannot use. Just know that God, You're
-
above Allah. Right.
-
You know, even when you search for Google whatever that
-
pops up. Right, I really believe that there's a leading.
-
There's a leading from the Lord. Right, And I just God,
-
I submit this saw you you enter into. Say God,
-
I'm gonna research this. Now, help me point me out
-
to the right sides, to the right references.
-
Ask God, lah right, No holy spirits with us?
-
Right.
-
So that's that's the answer I have olla from the Lord. Okay, okay,
-
now all right, all right, okay, So we've covered some
-
of these things in life. Now let's move on quickly
-
to another aspect of hearing from God.
-
Right.
-
So firstly, friends, there's no shot cut. You need to
-
know the word amen. No, the scripture, know what it
-
says about things in life. Secondly, no frils, no frails. Okay,
-
let's go to the next line. I call this the
-
no fils, no funfair, no fireworks are the way?
-
Where am I going with this? Nor feelings? Okay?
-
Sometimes when we we we are we want to hear
-
from God, right, we.
-
Say, God, where is the audible voice? You know, where
-
is the boom w This is.
-
Like that's the money worthy kind of confirmation from God. Right,
-
But you know that in scripture many times and this
-
is a clear example from Eli. No from Elijah. Right,
-
So let's go read the verse from Kings.
-
Let's go.
-
Yeah, first, Kings, he says, uh, this is Elijah. After
-
he ran away from the woman Jezebel, Right, he went
-
up to the mountain. He's like, oh, I'm dead, I'm exhausted,
-
I want to die. Heydy, That's actually what he was saying,
-
you know. And then and then God came to meet
-
with him during the night, and he says, then he said,
-
this is God said, go out and stand on the
-
mountain before the Lord, and behold the Lord passed by,
-
and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains
-
and broke the rocks in pieces.
-
Before the Lord. WHOA sounds like so me so drama, right,
-
so drama.
-
And but the Lord was not in the wind, and
-
after the wind an earthquake. Whoa earthquake. If you're here
-
an earthquake, probably say, oh, this is God. But the
-
Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake
-
of fire. But the Lord was not in the fire,
-
not in the fireworks, not in the bank bang, but
-
after the fire.
-
A still small voice, Be still and know that I
-
am God. This is not magic, friends, It's just the
-
quiet assurance that when you enter into God's presence, there's.
-
Just this pureness. This is purity, this holiness, it's this,
-
says God. I'm here to just focus on you. I'm
-
just here to hear by faith and I'm going to
-
act out by faithfulness. Right, So no fanfare, no fire works,
-
no friels. Don't worry about it. But how come you know?
-
God never speak to me like that? No, No, If
-
God does speak to you in dreams and visions, praise
-
the Lord. Praise the Lord, and then test it against scripture.
-
Don't just say, oh, this is from the Lord.
-
Yeah, I know I'm gonna marry that guy.
-
Know, test it against the world of God, and then
-
just know that God wants to speak to us in
-
a still small voice. Okay, so let's go on to
-
the next quadron and this is yeah, no, okay, so
-
this is very important.
-
Now, believer us want to know what does God want
-
me to do? Correct?
-
We say, God, show me your will, your way. I
-
want to know what to do. But God wants to
-
know who are you becoming in all your decisions?
-
Right, it's not so much of do I go college? A?
-
Do I go college? B?
-
God is saying, whatever you decide, who are you going
-
to become? It's a test of care character. Yeah, so
-
you want to know whether this thought that you're having
-
right now, right, you're having all these thoughts, all these options,
-
and then I feel, let towards one day, you test
-
against scripture what the scriptures say? You test against the character?
-
Is this what Christ would have done? Oh?
-
Does this make me more christ Like? Does this make
-
me more.
-
They're more of the truth of the spirit, love, joy, peace, patience?
-
Does it help me get to that? If not, that
-
you know it's not from God? Hello? If you stay
-
here are okay?
-
So now you can cheat on your text?
-
Is this you know you test it against scripture? Oh? No, failory.
-
Actually, when you test against scripture failah, Okay, that's the
-
voice of the devil flee from it. But sometimes the
-
scripture is like that and it's not so clear, right,
-
like oh, do I go Singapore study or do I
-
go me and martisay me and Mala? Where you want
-
to go Australia Singapore Australia, yo bie, but doesn't say lah?
-
Then you you think about it? So what is that
-
test of character?
-
Okay? And I need to give you.
-
Another test because sometimes just a Singapore Australia no difference,
-
but right trou not or I stay in Malaysia also
-
no difference? Are But maybe some of you might have
-
answered already at the second stage where you like, yeah,
-
I think God wants me to be here so that
-
I can serve my nation.
-
WHOA, come on, Holy no God Christ?
-
Like, do you know that we are called Malaysians here?
-
And you know I'm speaking to Malaysians here. There's a reason, ah,
-
why God caught you to be Malaysians. You know we're
-
here to serve our nations, our nation. Do you love
-
this land or not? That is very scriptural though. God
-
says that wherever you have been planted, you bear fruit
-
and you give shelter to that you know where God
-
has planted. You ain't got planted us given us this
-
Malaysian identity so that we can be fruitful here to.
-
Reach out to the majority. There's so much work for
-
us to do. Friends.
-
You know, if you go in Australia or whatever, I'm
-
not knocking it. If you heard from the Lord clearly,
-
then go. But otherwise most other times our desires la
-
why because then I can have a balanced life so
-
that I can go home at four pm and then
-
have barbecue.
-
We seek comfort. That's not character building.
-
Friends, living with early, having a balanced life and doing
-
barbecue and go vinyard.
-
You know, shopping is not building character, if you know
-
what I mean.
-
Okay, there's some partsa Okay, let's go obedience now. So
-
the third task, and this is always most of the
-
time where we most of us feel because we can
-
go from observation. You read just all the scriptures right,
-
just not give you so many scriptures you.
-
Have observed it. How many of you are willing to
-
obey it? Lieleo, Because you can know the.
-
Entire Bible, but never obey a single command.
-
And I can tell you you are lost. You will
-
be lost, and you're like, hang, I never hear from God.
-
So we have to move from a place of observation
-
of just the Bible to say, God, what are you
-
saying to me personally? How is this going to affect
-
my decisions?
-
This obedience partner is something that will be tested, and
-
only when you have undergone the test, then God says,
-
I know you know.
-
The greatest example is Abraham, who.
-
God say, okay, sacrifice Isaac to me your beloved's hand.
-
What I appreciate about this before? Right?
-
And then at the moment when actually Abraham took the
-
knife and he was bound readly you know, Isaac was
-
bound to the altar. And it was at the point
-
that Abraham took the knife and was about to.
-
Give the fatal blow that God said, wait, wait, now
-
I know that you fear me. Whoa means good? Doesn't
-
know whether we fear him or not until we are tested. So, friends,
-
guess what you will go to testings you will. Every
-
test is not meant to fail you.
-
Every test is designed for you to know him.
-
Do you get that? In our friends?
-
Every test in your life, every challenge in your life.
-
Right now, friends, I can say is.
-
To test is designed to know whether you know your God?
-
Do you know there's a verse that says those who
-
know their God shall do great exploits.
-
Whoa, if you're not doing great exploits means we don't
-
know how God, we don't know who he is.
-
Amen.
-
So now there's something about community that I have to
-
say here that God give us this fellowship, ma lead
-
us above us and over here in extras were something
-
called discipleship structure called huddle.
-
Right. We talked about discipleship a lot.
-
Last year, and is this community that saves gods us? Right?
-
So after you test a scripture, you tested, you know
-
your character, then.
-
You need to test that community.
-
You need to go to someone and just say, hey, hello,
-
I've decided.
-
What is God speaking to you about this decision? Major
-
life decision.
-
There's an accountability there that God designed for our safety.
-
Do you know God didn't purposely put leaders over us
-
and just say oh, I'm here to make your life difficult. No,
-
God design this community for us to be safe before
-
we make the wrong decisions. Community is very important, friends,
-
and that's why we say. God says in Hebrews, do
-
not neglect the meeting of.
-
Together brothers and sisters.
-
This fellowship is designed to save you save goud you from.
-
Being foolish, because we are like sheep. Right, if you
-
study sheep, shep very foolish. We never learned stubborn Steve Neck.
-
So we ad more niche one another.
-
We got one another true this test Amen, and finally
-
to wait, Wait upon the Lord. I think, yeah, I
-
think this has been praised. Right, Wait upon the Lord,
-
Isaiah forty. Wait upon the Lord, for he shall renew
-
your strength. Sometimes right when we are trying to hear
-
from God and we don't get the answer, what do
-
you do?
-
We give up?
-
No, No, it's true, and most of us are. We
-
we pray three times. Then after that God never say anything. Right,
-
Then we say God, God never answered my prayer. God
-
didn't hear me. God don't care about me. And then
-
we just go and find something else that will fit us.
-
But you know this, this spirit.
-
Of waiting on God is so precious to God, so precious,
-
you know, because you know it is in the waiting
-
that he's developing character, perseverance, faith, faithfulness, years, you know,
-
years and years.
-
And he will use circumstances to teach you. Can I
-
tell you right when I was preparing this, I'm gonna
-
give you two quick examples before we close. First one,
-
right as I was preparing for this message, of course,
-
you also ask how you know you heard from God?
-
True or not?
-
Preatures here, how you hurt from God? So I'm going
-
to tell you this really real experience. So for me,
-
I one of my disciples, we were embarking on this
-
leadership checklist, right, and so we are learning. One of
-
the criteria there was how do we hear from God?
-
So actually I also like, actually, how do we hear?
-
There's also a.
-
Question on my heart, how do we really know that
-
we hurt from God? So our challenge was to each
-
other we say, let's let's let's find out more.
-
Let's do do research, you know, on on how to
-
hear from God? So I did LA. So I went
-
and I tried to see.
-
What all the Christian authors say about hearing from God.
-
So then in my mind I was already saying, oh, okay,
-
I think this is something God wants to speak to
-
the church, right number one. Then then I that's it,
-
Like that's all I had. Right, So I had the
-
title hearing from God, and that's it.
-
I don't know what to say. Then on Friday, you
-
head homes awesome homes.
-
Right.
-
And as we were doing our small group discussion, one
-
of my homies shed that her struggle in Prayan fasting
-
is that.
-
Don't know how to hear from God. Hey.
-
Suddenly, then God, God gave me that confirmation, you know,
-
to say, hey, actually I think there is a.
-
Need because maybe the people don't really really don't.
-
Know how to hear from God. Then that's Friday, Saturday morning.
-
I wanted to sleep in a little bit, right because
-
it's been a long week. But the Lord woke me
-
up at six thirty Aho. That's not sleeping in right.
-
And then he began to download this k N O
-
W and he gave me this is what exactly you know?
-
I want you to let them know. So it form
-
that framework.
-
Then three times it's really confirmation, right, confirmation some more,
-
God say I give you bonus yesterday at all sort
-
meeting ping go shit, hey, guys, we really need to
-
hear from God. We need to learn how to hear
-
from it because I feel that when we don't hear
-
from God ourselves. Right, whatever that's being prettued, you're saying this, preacher,
-
say that, leader say it never becomes God's say true not.
-
I think that's that's probably the key. You know.
-
It's like whatever we say here, you're like, yeah, you
-
can say, you can say, you can't say lah. But
-
when you know that God is saying to you, oh, friends,
-
it's a different priority, all right. It's a completely different
-
platform that you're saying. God is now saying having a
-
personal conversation with you.
-
Elisha, I'm saying this to you right now. What are
-
you doing about it? Amen?
-
Now, I want to give you a very fun story.
-
You want to hear a fun story from the Bible
-
about how we can use this for framework. Okay, Now
-
let's go to Genesis twenty four, very quick, Genesis twenty four.
-
Now this is about.
-
The case of finding a wife for his son. Genesis
-
twenty four. Hey, right, this is a very practical right.
-
So Abraham now a already he says, my son Isaac
-
is getting big, you know, and I think he should
-
start his family. So he said, I need to find
-
a wife for my son. Any parents going through this
-
right now? You need to find a wife for your son.
-
Huh No, I think no.
-
So firstly, the test of scripture. Remember I say test
-
scripture first. Now, on what basis is Abraham doing this?
-
Okay, So let's read from verse seventy, says the Lord
-
God of Heaven, who took me from my father's house
-
and from the land of my family, and who spoke
-
to me and swore to me, saying to your descendants,
-
give you this land. He will send his angel before you,
-
and you shall take a wife or my son from there.
-
Where is there where he came from. You know that
-
he's in a foreign land right now. And there is
-
a scripture because it's a word of God. Right God says,
-
I'm gonna.
-
Give you this foreign land, and this is where your
-
descendant shall be.
-
So it's a clear word from the Lord.
-
So what Abraham could have done are your very mafuner
-
very inconvenient. So just marry anyone of the beautiful ladies
-
Cela correct not. But do you know scripture is never
-
convenient to It's always inconvenient, uncomfortable, and it challenges you.
-
So based on the test.
-
Of scripture, Abraham sent his all the servant, I don't
-
know how old send his old servant to go back
-
to their land to look for a wife from where
-
his own family.
-
And do you know this ties back to the whole.
-
Do not be an equally.
-
Yoked because the people of the land were not believers
-
of God.
-
They were not Yahweh worshippers.
-
His family knew God, and he says, to preserve that
-
we only worship God in our family, go back to
-
my brother's family. Do you see that it's connected, right? Friends,
-
Old Testament, New Testament. It goes all across. It never
-
contradicts itself. God does not contradict himself.
-
Immen. Okay, So test of stricture? What is the second test?
-
Do you remember? Test of what character?
-
Right?
-
Remember we say it's test scripture, test of character. Now,
-
so the abraham servant got no name, right, let's call.
-
Him what what name? Should we call him? Servant? And
-
mister s okay? So, mister s.
-
He went all the way to this foreign land and
-
he prayed. He say, God, you are Abraham's God, his
-
personal God. You know, he prayed to a foreign god,
-
God of Abraham, give me favor. And he say, Okayla,
-
I'm going to stop by this place, and if you know,
-
I'm gonna ask the first girl that comes w okay,
-
like he's gonna ask many girls like he tried, Like
-
you know, he's He's saying, either girl will come and
-
give me water to drink. And do you know that
-
in those days, men and women don't associate with each
-
other strangers.
-
You know, it will be considered sexual harassment. Today, don't do.
-
That, right, So he says, I'm gonna ask the girl
-
for water, and if she gives me water and she.
-
Volunteers to water my entire camel. This is the one, hey,
-
real Tessa.
-
Very specific, you know, right, And well, what does that
-
signify about the character of Rebecca?
-
What do you think? Amazing? How amazing? In what way? Amazing? Helpful, compassionate?
-
What else? Generous?
-
So this servant of Abraham is thinking, the wife of
-
my master's son should be someone who's kind, compassionate, generous,
-
right character, because anyone who else who says, who are you?
-
I don't want to deal with you. Right, Let's not
-
have those qualities, that character. And so, you know, let's
-
go to the next he says. Then he said, no, no, let's.
-
Go to character.
-
Then he said, oh, Lord God or my master Ibraham,
-
please give me success to say and show kindness to
-
my master Ibraham. Behore, I stand by the well of water,
-
and the daughters of the men of the city are coming.
-
Out to draw water.
-
Now, let it be that the young woman to whom
-
I say, please let down your picture too that I
-
may drink, and she says, drink, and I will also
-
give your camels a drink. Let her be the one
-
you have appointed for your servant, Isaac character not definitely character.
-
Okay, let's move on now, test of community. This is
-
so important.
-
Friends, So after all that you know, and suddenly right
-
this stranger I also funny, very weird because this servant
-
now after the Rebecca gave the water to drink, right
-
what he did? He's like, nah, I give you gold
-
ring for your nose and gold bangles for your wrists
-
and he put it on her. Friends, if someone put
-
gold on you, what would you do? You think, I
-
don't know me MEA say she would take most of you?
-
Wo say, hey, this one got charm or not true
-
or not? Or this is fake?
-
Goal?
-
Is it? Most of you?
-
Run away trying out because why your mother said, don't
-
take this a stranger true not?
-
But this this is what happened. Now, this isn't a scripture,
-
oh crazy man? And what happened with her? Did she say?
-
O kayla? Since I'm the one you gave me goal,
-
I'm here, let's go. No, she ran back home to
-
tell her family, let's go.
-
So the young woman ran and told her mother's house.
-
Her mother's households all these things.
-
Now, Rebecca had a brother whose name was Laban, and
-
Lebon ran out to the men by the well.
-
So I think this is a good test, you know.
-
She ran back home to tell her family, and then
-
she sent her brother, Oh, to test this man. You know,
-
things needs to be tested by even your community. So
-
I guard those under my care, myddle, especially if they're single.
-
I really got the money they want to day, I say,
-
I want to meet me the fellow of us you
-
send me. I'm going to be the la button to
-
suss out this person, right or not, it's true or not,
-
because your girl can be hopelessly in love ready, But
-
we need to have the sanctity and.
-
The wisdom and the sanity to say hello. This one
-
cannot even wake up in the morning, doesn't even brushed. Hello,
-
what you see needs feller? Can't you smell him Monday? Please? Ay? Friends?
-
Can you please? Mondy?
-
Not anyways? Tests of community right, and then, finally, finally, finally,
-
what is it? What's the final test the test of
-
circumstances things. When we say tests the circumstances, right, we
-
just want to be also careful with it. Do not
-
say oh Lord, you know like how gideons say, oh God,
-
you do this, then you do this, you do this, right,
-
But we do see how God aligns and users circumstances
-
as well. Right, so this is like sort of the
-
final filter that you want to test a decision because
-
the circumstance.
-
Right. So okay, now you know what happened. Right.
-
She ran home to be to tell her parents, and
-
then the lab not the love laban the brother ran
-
out to meet with this man, and they brought him home,
-
all right, and they say please eat okay, of course,
-
hey you give me gold man, welcome the stranger who
-
gives you gold. Okay, I hope you do go back
-
with that. Okay, anyway, so come back home. And then
-
the seven very kan Chong ready, you know Kan Yong,
-
and he's like, I I you know, I cannot eat
-
and see it until I tell you why I'm here. Right,
-
there's a purpose, right, there's a mission, he was saying.
-
On a mission. So he said, okay, I'm gonna tell
-
you the story. Da da da da da da da da.
-
And then so that the final circumstance was to say, hey,
-
the girl will say yes or not. If you were
-
the girl, would you say yes or not?
-
No? No, no, you're like, we never even knew, we
-
never did.
-
They never hold hands before how to marry. So the
-
circumstance was hinging.
-
On the response from Rebecca. You know, she could have
-
said no.
-
And then the Abraham told the server, ready, if if
-
it does not go anyway, if the person says no, right,
-
you're free from this obligation.
-
You know, there was an althor he took. He put
-
his hand under Abraham's tie.
-
That's the oath. He says, you're free from this obligation.
-
Eve is no success in this mission. If the girls
-
say no, it means no success. Right, even though everything
-
aligned really well, the stars aligned the scripture. That's the
-
character of her. There's the community. The brother's also like,
-
but there is this confirmation that she that he needed,
-
the servant of the Lord needed, and this is what
-
he says here. So this is the Tessa of circumstance.
-
So the brother and her mother said, let the young
-
man stay with us. Let the young woman stay with
-
us a few days, at least ten days, they say,
-
let our daughters stay with us.
-
La.
-
We still got a lot of things to tell her,
-
you know, prepare her for pre pre marriage counseling. Maybe
-
ten days, you know, after that she may go. And
-
he said to them, do not hinder me, since the
-
Lord has prospered my way, and send me away so
-
that I may go to my master. Then they said
-
they will call the young woman and ask her personally.
-
So they called Rebecca and said will you go with
-
this man? She said I will, and off they ran
-
off into the sunset.
