You're listening to a message to go from axt church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
It's our response to the Holy Spirit. So this story
-
depicts a few characters, and I want us to look
-
at the different characters. Okay. Now, so this is the
-
twenty fourth chapter of Genesis. I told you it's very old,
-
very old, okay, in the Old Testament. Now, this chapter
-
got sixty seven verses, so it's very long. All right,
-
I'll try to read faster later. Six six seven, that's right,
-
I oh dear me. Okay, Now, so this chapter relates
-
and I'm not sure how familiar are you with this chapter,
-
because sometimes when we read, right, we just read that
-
it's a storyline, okay, Okay, it's about the story of
-
how Abraham obtained a bride or a wife for his
-
son Isaac. Okay, So let's read Genesis chapter twenty four now.
-
Because it's sixty seven verses, I can't read all. I
-
will pick and chow, but I would just summarize the
-
story in between. Are we good for this? I would
-
like us to turn to our bibles. Genesis chapter twenty four,
-
Verse one to four. Us skip a field and I'll
-
go to verse nine and ten, and I'm going to
-
read from New King James version. All right, okay, are
-
we ready? I'm going to die straight into it due
-
to time now. Okay, by the way, before I read
-
this will give you a context. This chapter twenty four
-
is the bit of sandwich in between two chapters. Of
-
of course, like the chapters before just talk about the
-
death of Sarah. So Sarah, the wife of Abraham, just
-
passed away, and then later on the chapter after talks
-
about Abraham passing away. Okay, so, but before that there's
-
this important that the whole chapter is dedicated to this
-
story only. Okay. So you know that Abraham is the
-
he's very old and in their old age, they got
-
a son, and he's a son of promise Isaac, and
-
they waited for many years I think twenty over years,
-
all right. Finally the son came in their old age
-
and the son grew up. And then before that they
-
were like, oh, so what do we do now? The
-
son and God promised themino inheritance as many as the stars,
-
but just one son, okay, and the son not married
-
it also, so it's come to the point in their
-
life where they want to find a wife for Isaac. Okay.
-
Verse one. Now Abraham was all well advanced in age,
-
and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. So
-
Abraham said to his older servant of his house, who
-
ruled over all that he had. Please put your hand
-
under my tie, and I will make you swear by
-
the Lord, the God of Heaven, the God the God
-
of the Earth, that you will not take a wife
-
from my son, from the daughters of the Canaanites, among
-
whom I dwelt, But you shall go to my country
-
and to my family and take a wife from my
-
son Isaac. I stopped there. Okay. So Abraham and his
-
family were called out by God to leave his family
-
to move out Canaan. So he's far far away from
-
his original home, all right. So he's staying in Canaan,
-
and his hometown is very far away. Okay. Now I'm
-
going to jump to verse nine. So the servant put
-
his hand under the tie of Abraham his master, and
-
swore to him concerning this matter. Then the servant took
-
ten of his master's camels and departed, for all his
-
master's goods were in his hand. And he arose and
-
went to Mesopotamia to the city of Nahor Neihor is Naha. Okay,
-
is the brother of Abraham. So if you read your Bible,
-
Abraham had a brother, and the brother had many sons.
-
And then Rebecca, who is the wife of Isaac, is
-
the daughter of one of the sons. Okay, okay, So
-
this is back in his hometown. So in between there
-
was a conversation. So here we see two characters, Abraham
-
and this servant. This servant is like the most senior servant.
-
I believe he's also quite advanced in age, and he's
-
the one in charge. The Bible says in verse two,
-
he is the oldest servant, and he ruled over all
-
that Abraham had. Abraham, if you didn't know, he's very rich,
-
say to your neighbor, very rich. They're the neighbor richer
-
than you can imagine. Okay, all right, just keep us
-
awake now, okay, all right. So this servant is also
-
in verse uh ten, he is the one in charge
-
of everything that the master had. Okay. So there was
-
a conversation, and the servant said, but Master, if I
-
go all the way there and then the girl don't
-
want to follow me, Why did the servant ask that
-
because it's quite normal. You go so far the girl
-
don't know who are you? Do you think a girl
-
and the family of the girl will let you go mad?
-
I don't know. So he's just saying, why if Abraham said,
-
don't worry. If that happens, you are released from this
-
old but never take my son Isaac back to my hometown. Okay,
-
because the promise was for him in Canaan. Abraham is
-
very clear. Okay. So Abraham and Isaac there are residents
-
of the Lenda promise. But Abraham again determined that his
-
son is not going to marry any of the Canaanite
-
women because they worship foreign gods, all right, but he
-
is to get a wife from his hometown. Now four
-
characters in this story. Now you only saw two, I'm
-
going to introduce another two. So firstly we have Abraham
-
the father and I have a slight for that, okay.
-
And then we have Isaac, the's son, because who is
-
he finding a bride for his son. And then we
-
have this bride whom we don't know who, but they thought,
-
you know, it's Rebecca. And then there is a nameless
-
person in this story who's the nameless person the servant. Okay,
-
So the servant is the nameless person. Now I quickly
-
go and tell you the answer, okay, because no time,
-
so that we know and we can I to understand
-
this picture of how the Holy Spirit works in our lives. Imen. So,
-
Abraham represents God the Father, Isaac the Son represents God
-
the Son, Jesus the bride, the chosen bride. Rebecca represents
-
the Church, you and I, and this unnamed servant represents
-
the Holy Spirit. Can you see the humility or the
-
Holy Spirit? And do you know that the scripture okay,
-
is the author of scripture is the Holy Spirit, because
-
he inspired the authors to write the Bible, and yet
-
he didn't name himself. All right, So this in this
-
whole chapter sixty seven versus, he's called the servant, all right, okay, Okay,
-
Now I want us to take note and sturdy the
-
activity of this servant to out this chapter. But I
-
will just go chop all right, because we can't cover everything,
-
but as much as we can, so that we can
-
see again the role of the Holy Spirit as an
-
administrator of our inheritance that God has for us. Amen. Okay,
-
So I already mentioned this Servant is the he administered
-
the entire wealth of Abraham, the Father and the Son.
-
What does it? Shit tells you. The Holy Spirit is
-
the one who reveals everything that God the Father got
-
the Son has for us. Amen. And that's true of
-
the Holy Spirit in our lives today. Amen. And until
-
we come to the Holy Spirit, we don't get any
-
of these inheritance of God. Right. And because it's all
-
under the control of the Holy Spirit now. And the
-
Holy Spirit also again in verse ten, he owns everything.
-
So here we go. Now the servant after he said
-
yes to Abraham, why he said he promised, he took
-
an oath and say that I will find a bride
-
and bring it bring her home for Isaac, your son,
-
all right? And then did he go empty handed? No?
-
So if you look at the Bible, he went away
-
with ten camels. Okay, Now one camel can carry a lot.
-
Ten important, So this information is important later when you
-
see the storyline. So ten a lot, and what is
-
it laden with? Gifts? Okay? All right? Gifts? All right? Okay,
-
Now we move on first, so let's read. Continue to
-
read verse eleven to verse twenty seven. It's a stretch
-
of a reading can we follow? Can I? Yes? Yes,
-
all right? Verse eleven. Now he traveled by the way.
-
I tried to look it up, just to understand how
-
long could possibly this servant and the ten camels and
-
probably some other servants traveled three to four wicks by camel,
-
because it's camel caravan, all right, So three to four
-
wicks maybe, okay. So finally he reached this Mesopotamia, right, okay,
-
So verse eleven. He made his camels kneel down outside
-
the city by a well of water at evening time,
-
the time when women go out to draw water. Then,
-
and he said, oh Lord, my God of my master Abraham,
-
please give me success this day and show kindness to
-
my master Abraham. Behold, okay, here I stand by the
-
well of water, and the daughters of the men of
-
the city are coming out to draw water. Now let
-
it be that a young woman to whom I say,
-
please let down your picture that I may drink. And
-
she says, drink, and I will also give your camels
-
to drink. Let her be the one. Okay. Now you
-
have appointed your servant Isaac, and by this I will
-
know that you have shown kindness to my master. Are
-
we good? So he asked a sign from God. All right, okay,
-
so let's continue reading first. I thought later, and it
-
happened before he had finished speaking. The behold Rebecca, who
-
was born to Batoul. Batul is the son of Nahrhor,
-
the brother of Abraham. So technically Rebecca is grand niece
-
of Abraham. Okay, came out with her picture on her shoulder. Now,
-
I'm not sure why these servants prayed this card prayer
-
that the girl who said yes to give me water
-
to drink and to say yes to feed my camels.
-
I ask you that you want to ask for a wife.
-
Will you pray a normal prayer like the person who
-
say good morning to me? Hello, everybody say good morning
-
to you. Ride all right, you will ask for a
-
sign that is so usual. I believe it's not usual
-
for someone to offer to water ten camels. I think
-
maybe to fit you. Yes, Na, oh uncle, you want water,
-
I give you, but maybe not ten camels. Okay, So
-
he asked quite an impossible sign that the girl who
-
said yes to give him water and water his camels
-
will be the girl. Okay. Now verse fifteen done, Verse sixteen.
-
So now the young woman was very beautiful to be
-
whold a virgin. No man had known her, And she
-
went down to the well, filled her pitture, and came up,
-
and the servant ran to meet her and said, please
-
let me drink. So she said, drink, my lord. Then
-
she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand and
-
gave him a drink. I don't really suspense for you
-
or not, okay. And when she had finished giving him
-
a drink, she said, without him asking her, I will
-
draw water for your camels also until they had finished drinking.
-
Then she quickly emptied her picture into the trail, ran
-
back to the well to draw water, and drew for
-
all his camels. I know you sit in one sentence,
-
they thought, I'll tell you why, okay, And the man,
-
one drink at her okay, remained silent, so as to
-
know whether the lord had made his journey prosperous or
-
not Verse twenty two. So it was when the camels
-
had finished drinking, when I, as Mama had dreamed drinking, that
-
the man took a golden nose ring weighing half a
-
shackle and two bracelets for her raise wearhing ten shackles
-
of gold, and said, whose daughter are you? Tell me? Please?
-
Is the room? He asked him two questions. Okay, who
-
daughter are you? And is the room in your father's
-
house for us to lodge? So she said to him,
-
and the daughter, but Milkha's son, whom she bought to Nahor.
-
And moreover, she said to him, we have both straw
-
and feet enough and room to lodge. Then the servant
-
of the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord.
-
And then he said, blessed be the Lord God of
-
my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his mercy and
-
his truth towards my master. As for me being on
-
the way, the Lord had led me to the house
-
of my master's brethren. Amen, God bless the reading of
-
his word. So he prayed that God you lead me.
-
He and God let the servant directly to the family
-
of Abraham, just like that, all right, okay, So it's
-
really the leading of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Okay. So
-
let's look at the picture of Rebecca as the chosen bride.
-
All right. Now, in verse ten, I told you early
-
on when we read the servant took ten camels. So
-
again ten camels. Traveling with an old servant will take
-
about a month, all right, now in the east and
-
in desert countries at that time, girls or ladies, they
-
were under social obligation to you know, lower their picture
-
right their shoulder, on their shoulder and give you know,
-
different strangers a drink of water. Okay, So again he
-
prayed a prayer. That is not usual that this girl
-
is going to offer to water his ten camels. Now,
-
so this is a picture. I want us to see
-
Rebecca as a picture of the bride. I want us
-
to notice how Rebecca respond to the servant. Are we good? Why?
-
Because the Rebecca is a picture of the church, and
-
as the Church of God, how should we respond to
-
the Holy Spirit a man? So I'm drawing three points
-
from this story. First one, plainly, Rebecca is not lazy.
-
That's my first point. Okay, she was not lazy. Tell
-
your neighbor she was not lazy. Now, if she was lazy,
-
she would have offered, Mayer, I feel you water water, sure, bye,
-
and she'll be on her way. Okay, okay. But when
-
he he didn't even ask. But she has a kindness
-
in her heart, I believe, and she can see the need.
-
And she saw all the camels, and she said, these
-
people must have come from a far far place, whause
-
you probably can hear the camels. I don't know. I
-
don't know why the camels do that. They were like
-
the sticker. I don't know. I don't know. But the
-
poor old serbord is that I want to die. They like,
-
you know, can you please give me water? I don't know,
-
I don't know. I'm just imagining, all right, must imagine
-
norry by b gun okay, So, and she said, sure,
-
I will, I will, I will. Okay. By the way,
-
how much can one camel drink? Quite a lot? Now,
-
imagine they have traveled for a month, so they empty
-
every hello, empty everything. How much I think it can
-
bring up to waste on my research? Uh, two hundred
-
liters of water per camel? Two hundred liters per camel?
-
How many camels? I told you that? Ten is also
-
important because it shows you the significance of that, the
-
generosity of Rebecca. So, and what did Rebecca used to
-
to to water the camel? You think, what do we
-
do today? If we do, we just I don't know,
-
get a tractor and a water see right, No, she
-
used an earthen jar a vessel on her shoulder, and
-
they had to pull from the well one, so they
-
pulled from the well on the shoulder, and then she
-
won by one. So it's an estimate that she probably
-
do fifty two one hundred trips to the well. She's strong, hallelojah.
-
She is strong. So the Church of God is strong. Halleluojah. Okay,
-
so she's strong and she's not lazy. And it probably
-
took her to to three hours walking from where the
-
camels were to the well through the well water a
-
hundred times. So, by the way, you read the one
-
verse right until all of them have finished drinking, it's
-
just one verse. Y, he took three hours. And then
-
the servant instead watching her the Bible, saying, ah, watching
-
her cause it's all manly right now, watching her, and
-
then wondering is this the girl? Is this the girl?
-
So I think he's will be praying for three hours
-
and all harley luiah. I didn't plan to say all this,
-
by the way, okay, So so basically we back up
-
past the testla Okay, we all know that. So now
-
she is identified as the answer to his prayer and
-
the chosen bride. Imen then the servant gave her gifts,
-
right all right, I gave her gifts, and I think
-
those gifts in we way out today is in tens
-
of thousands on the goal. All right, okay, all right,
-
so what but what I want us to focus is
-
that it will be our response is Rebecca's response church.
-
Do you know that she can say sorry, oh, hi, bye, oh,
-
I got to go back now bye, right, But it's
-
her response to the Holy Spirit that determine her destiny. Now,
-
I want you to take not one more thinger, okay, faster.
-
Every time she said she responded that something happened. Okay.
-
So the first response she said, okay, I will give
-
you water, I'll feed your camels. What happened? She received
-
the gifts? Go right, not okay? So what does this
-
gift signify? So right, basically the gifts when it says
-
this on the nose rings actually more like a jewelry
-
on her forehead. And then she was given the bracelets.
-
So it's almost saying the Church of God is then
-
sealed right in our minds. Our mind will then be
-
open to the Holy Spirit to receive his revelation for us. Amen.
-
Her hands okay, the bracelets is like our hands being
-
set apart to do the will God. Do you know
-
that when we say yes to the Holy Spirit? Amen?
-
So immediately, why did the servant gave her the gifts?
-
Because it marks her up as the bride? All right?
-
So that is a mug all right. So it's the
-
gifts of the Holy Spirit in our lives that marks
-
us as the Church of God. Hallelujah. Amen. It doesn't
-
stop there. So then he continued the conversation with Rebecca
-
and asked, whose daughter are you? Is there room in
-
your house? Correct? Okay? So what did Rebecca said? Yes,
-
there's plenty of straw and feed for the camels, and
-
there's plenty of room. So she I cut the long
-
story shot. Like course, we can't read all. She quickly
-
ran back to tell her family and her brother, famous
-
brother who don't way quite naughty on the brother. Later
-
we read the story that he's the one who one
-
okay but labor and okay. Yeah, so he told the brothers.
-
So the brother came out with her and then said, yes,
-
please don't stand here, come to our house and stay
-
with us. Okay, okay. So verse twenty three, twenty four
-
and twenty five we see that that Rebecca second second point,
-
Rebecca made room for the servant and his camels in men.
-
Now ten camels again, do you think it's very convenient? No,
-
I put record there. She made room for the servant
-
and the camels. Yes, but she also made room for inconvenience,
-
because it is inconvenience because suddenly you got a guess,
-
and then the servant probably didn't travel alone with other servants,
-
and then you have ten camels. I don't know how
-
the house is like, but I think they probably have
-
to move things around, clear things away to make room.
-
Why am I saying all this because it's a picture
-
of the church again, and it shows us the response
-
of Rebecca. All right, Rebecca didn't say a yo, this
-
is a bit too much for me. Yeah, I can
-
give you water. I spent three hours watering your camels
-
and what else you want? Ha ha. Okay, now you're
-
only talked about house. Oh my world. Okay, but now
-
she takes another step. So hai ha ha ha. You
-
know we can come to church for three hours, right, Hi, Hi,
-
Holy Spirit, holdly spebit, we go back, but we don't
-
invite him in. Okay. So this is where she makes
-
room right to the heart of because your dwelling is
-
your home, your heart live right now, it's all that
-
you have. Right, She made room for the servant. So
-
the question to us is are we making room for
-
the Holy Spirit? And I put that his camels? All right,
-
because you know that you've got to make room for
-
God's gifts as well. You can say, God, I don't
-
want to know, right, But she made room so some
-
of us may be acquainted with the Holy Spirit. Like
-
I said, we can come. We're okay to you know,
-
to be prayed for, to pray you know, at the well.
-
We're at the well only okay, we're even willing to
-
spend that two three hours. All right, Yes, God, I'm
-
willing to serve you on Sunday. But we never invite
-
him home. We invite him home into our very lives.
-
To what to receiving the Holy Spirit in the baptism
-
a man when we allow coldly Spirit to baptize us.
-
Because sometimes when we give all the call, we say,
-
come those of you who wants to be baptized by
-
Holy spirits or they're shiny. Now mind the one, you
-
know what I mean. So Rebecca did not stop at
-
the well. She said, yes, come come to my house,
-
Come into my room, I made room. I will make room.
-
So she made room. So the baptism of the Holy
-
Spirit is inviting him in and saying, God, I make room,
-
and I'll find place from other things that might get
-
in the way. I'll get it out of the way
-
so that you can come in. So remember I say,
-
every time she responds, something happened, and this time what happened? Okay,
-
let's read on a quick one, all right, in verse
-
fifty three, can we jump there now, Church, I think
-
I have it on the screen verse fifty three. So
-
this is after the servant and his and his whole
-
caravan went to Rebecca's house and they already sat down.
-
They're about to have dinner, and to cut a long
-
story shot again, he explained the purpose of his mission
-
and his trip to Batul. The father of Rebecca and
-
the brother of Rebecca Laban. He explained everything to them
-
and then asked them, finally, will you let your daughter
-
come with me? Okay, okay? So of course the family,
-
the father the brother said, yes, you came all the way, definitely,
-
and you asked for a sign and God gave you. Definitely,
-
this is God's will. Please, you shall have Rebecca. So
-
after that. Then in verse fifty three, then the servant
-
brought out jewelry of silver, jewelry of gold, of clothing
-
and gave them to Rebecca. But not only that, he
-
didn't just give Rebecca. He also gave precious things to
-
her brother and to her mother. It sounds like a
-
very okay, very normal yes a verbi, you know all right?
-
What does it mean when she's when they say yes?
-
When you say yes, not only you will be blessed,
-
but your family will be blessed. Amen, you're the people
-
around you will be blessed. Amen, people around you will
-
be blessed when we say yes to God where we
-
make room for Him, when we open up to the
-
Holy Spirit. Hallelujah. Are we good? All right? Now? Third one? Okay?
-
Best we read on. I gleaned out one more point.
-
Now the story didn't end there. So what happened? Okay?
-
I give you fast forward. So they were eating dinner
-
and all the servant was very happy because the father
-
and the brother said yes to let Rebecca follow him,
-
and then they stay over the night. The next morning,
-
the servant woke up and the servant was like, okay, come,
-
I need to go back to my Master Abraham. Then
-
what did the father and the brother say to him? No, no, no, no, no, please,
-
don't go yet. We want Rebecca to stay at least
-
for another ten days. Sounds normal, right any father here?
-
No right? Never, Okay, I'm sorry, not my father, I
-
mothers or never ha ha okay no, not joking anyway,
-
but not ready joking by not joking, not joking. Okay,
-
so normal. It sounds a very normal response. Okay. Uh.
-
Then the family said, okay, then we let Rebecca decide. Okay.
-
So this is where we are at now verse fifty
-
four to fifty eight. And he and the men who
-
were with him ate and drank and stayed all night
-
verse fifty four. Then they arose in the morning. He said,
-
send me away to my master. But her brother and
-
mother said, let the young woman stay with us a
-
few days, at least ten, and then she may go.
-
And then he said to them, no, do not hinder me,
-
because the Lord has prospered my way. Send me away
-
so that I can go to my master verse fifty seven.
-
So they said, we will call the young woman and
-
ask her personally. And jay, I don't know whether until now.
-
It's till suspense no, yes, no, yes, no, yes no ry. Finally,
-
verse fifty eight, they called Rebecca and said to her,
-
will you you go with this man? And what did
-
she say? I will go? Hallelujah Jesus. Okay. If she
-
said no, do you know that there's no more Rebecca
-
in the story anymore. She will not be the mother,
-
She will not be part of the story anymore. She
-
will not be wife of Isaac, she will not be
-
the mother Abroadmi so halleo. She's the ancestor of Jesus,
-
isn't it? And because she said yes, I will go? Okay?
-
So basically this is where we see again. When the
-
Holy Spirit comes, he will ask us will you come?
-
The word is now. You know she didn't say no
-
to going, but the family said no and wait, but
-
certain things can all wait on? Can await all? Right?
-
When the Holy Spirit comes and he said will you come? Now?
-
What should we say wait, Holy Spirit? Or should we say, yes, Lord,
-
I will come and I'll come now right yes now?
-
Because you need to know, and the Church of God
-
need to know that this is more important than anything else. Amen.
-
This is her destiny. Her destiny relies on this one, sir, Yes,
-
I will go wherever you lead me. Now, I got
-
another question for you. If you are Rebecca, do you
-
think you have any clue who this guy you're gonna marry?
-
Jane Jay? Okay, no, no, So all the all she
-
knows that she's hearing the conversation between this old servant
-
and the father and the mother and the brother, because
-
actually in those days, the ladies are inside, and why
-
not then they just try to hear what's going on.
-
Oh it's what, Oh it's for his Son's a son,
-
Oh his son young, it's a son here. I don't
-
know nothing wrong with that. I'm just saying now. Yeah,
-
So how would she know? Why would she say yes
-
to go with this stranger whom she has never met
-
and met meeting for the first time, to so far away,
-
as far as a month of travel, and she will
-
be away completely from her family. So the whole the
-
servant who represents the Holy Spirit, was the only reference
-
that she had at that time, Okay, of this whole father,
-
the Abraham, and the son, the Isaac, and the whole
-
inheritance that this servant is talking about. So she never
-
saw with her eye who the man she will marry. Okay,
-
before she even she even made this commitment to follow him.
-
So how did we Becca know how the Father is
-
like or the Son is like? Do you know that
-
this comes in again, church as the role of the
-
Holy Spirit, because remember the servant takes the role of
-
the Holy Spirit. It's the Holy Spirit who reveals the
-
Father to earth. Amen. You and I are not seeing
-
Jesus face to face white touch him in flesh, So
-
we don't know, but we know because the Holy Spirit
-
reveals from his written word to earth. Amen. Hallelujah, Thank
-
you Lord. All right, So how does the church no
-
get to know what the Father is like, or what
-
the Son is like or what out in heeritance? Is
-
the Holy Spirit? So if we don't know the Holy Spirit,
-
we don't spend time in the Holy Spirit, we don't
-
listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying. Then we
-
will not know the Father, we will not know the Son.
-
And do you know, Jesus say that as well, only
-
the Son. No, the Father, the Father know the Son,
-
and it's the Holy Spirit who reveals it. Jesus himself
-
said it as well. So finally she took the long journey.
-
You can read the whole or the stock wich I
-
will end a little bit while. Why because again when
-
she said yes, now what happens? All right? Okay? So
-
she had to take this long, dangerous journey to the
-
wilderness with a stranger that she had just met. She
-
didn't have it all planned out in a map. Okay. Now,
-
I know all of us as we want to be
-
in control, we've got it all plan our. But you
-
know what all she had is who these uncles of
-
all right? The Holy Spirit to lead her all the
-
way to church? Can you see that now that our
-
response is we should only have the Holy Spirit as
-
our only guide and reference in our lives. Now, what
-
happens when Rebecca said yes, I will go, not in
-
ten days time, but I'll go now, Okay? So every
-
time I'm I told you, we will see a blessing
-
that comes with her response. All right, okay, So stay
-
with me. This is the last few verses Genesis. So
-
I'm going to read from fifty nine to sixty one.
-
She said, yes, I'll go and be the bride, all right, okay?
-
So fifty nine so they sent away Rebecca, their sister,
-
and her nurse, and Abraham's servant and his men, and
-
they bless Rebecca. So now Rebecca's family bless her sent
-
her away with a blessing that they didn't understand problem
-
that it was such a prophecy when they bless her.
-
All right, so they blessed Rebecca. And what did they
-
say to Rebecca, our sister, May you become the mother
-
of thousands and ten thousands. Do you know that they
-
probably had no idea what they're talking about, but we
-
know that this was a prophecy about what Rebecca's life
-
is going to be mother of thousands and ten thousands.
-
And may your descendants church pay attention to this, possess
-
the gates of those who hate them. I don't know
-
whtter who, which family will praise, come praier with the
-
daughter is going up. I believe it's really the annoying
-
thing of the Holy Spirit. At that time when they
-
pray that prayer, they are prophesigning into the life of Rebecca.
-
May your descendants possess the gates of those who hate them?
-
Does it sound a little bit familiar? Okay, now, min
-
let's be sixty one percent. Then Rebecca and her maids arose,
-
and they rode on camels and follow the man. So
-
the servant took Rebecca and departed. Now I want us
-
to I want us to look at this verse the
-
conversation between Peter and Jesus' familiar the gates of Hell
-
Familiar Matthew sixteen eighteen. Jesus speaking to Peter, I also
-
say to you that you are Peter or Petros, and
-
on this rock I will build my church, and the
-
gates of Hades shall not prevailed against it. By that
-
one decision that we met, that we become in. It
-
became a picture or a pattern for the church, which
-
again it was prophesied. This is way Old Testament Genesis
-
twenty four, all the way in Old Testament. But it
-
was a prophecy of what we see today of the
-
Church of God. Amen. It is a picture and a
-
pattern of the church wh was to become so fruitful
-
that thousands of millions will come into the King of
-
God as we see today. Amen. And when the church
-
went out against God's enemies, the gates of Hell would
-
not be able to keep the messengers of the Gospel.
-
Do you believe that? So when jesusid go into all
-
the world, because all authority have been given to me. Correct.
-
This is the prophecy that was given way back in
-
Genesis twenty four. Not this Jesus. When he was talking
-
to Peter, he didn't say, Okay, you will be in
-
a secure city. We all all the walls protecting you.
-
Hell's forces will be banging at the door at the gates,
-
but they cannot break in. Did you just say that. No,
-
you just say we are not just on the on
-
the defense note, we are on the old fans. So right, okay,
-
that's what it means. Means you go out and attack
-
the gates of Hell to liberate the captives, and are
-
speaking spiritually. There are insight and the gigs of Hell
-
will not be able to keep you out. That is
-
the significance of their blessing. When they prayed and released
-
Rebecca Church the moment she said yes to God, hallelujahs
-
that a revelation to be Hallelujah, Thank Jesus, A right, amen, amen,
-
So may you become, they prayed, the mother of thousands
-
of ten thousands and mere descendants, who says the gates
-
who hate them. So here is the promise of the
-
inheritance of Rebecca to become the mother of millions and
-
millions of believers. Like how we see today to become
-
the type of the victorious, irresistible Church of Christ, going
-
forth in the battle and taking our enemies and liberating
-
those who are under the oppression of Satan. Amen. Amen.
-
So what does this holding tell us? All of this
-
was determined by only one thing, Repacca sing yes to
-
the Holy Spirit. Amen. Amen. Now, the Church as a whole,
-
the whole destiny. If you look at the Church of
-
Christ as a whole, the body of Christ as a whole. Again,
-
our destiny, the whole body of Christ is determined by
-
our corporate response to the Holy Spirit. But how about
-
us church, ten am church? This morning? As I was preparing,
-
how about us as individual believers today? Individual church? Because
-
we make up the church, isn't it our destiny? And
-
the measure of the amount of how much we enjoy
-
God's inhabitants for earth ourselves will be determined solely by
-
one thing, the measure of our report to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
-
It's as simple as that. And I hope that this
-
gives us a picture of the Church and it encourages
-
us to follow. Like what Rebecca responded to the Holy Spirit.
-
She wasn't lazy, she was generous, She said yes, and
-
say and don't. Just want to get acquainted with you
-
Holy Spirit at the well and just come to church
-
on Sunday and spend the morning for God. I want
-
you in every day of my life. Hallelujah.
-
