You're listening to a message to go from X Church.
-
We hope this message will light up your team.
-
Kingdom minded.
-
Okay, but before we go into the third core value,
-
who can reiterate what the first one is? Spirit Field
-
was the first week okay that we as we embarked
-
on the twelve core values of X Church. All of
-
it taken from the Book of X chapter two mainly,
-
so if you need a reference, read X chapter two
-
and you'll see where all these values are coming from.
-
The second value that we went through last week christ centered. Okay,
-
cry is centered. And I had the privilege of being
-
in our Bahasa worship last weekend and I had to
-
preach the entire value in basa, which is not always
-
the easiest thing, but it's called busa. Can christus, I'm
-
like the brain exploded a little bit, but that was
-
what the translation is. And today I'm going to be
-
teaching again, okay, teaching on Kingdom minded.
-
Okay, Kingdom minded.
-
Uh.
-
And I need to warn you'all. Okay, there's a lot.
-
There's a lot that I want to share, but I
-
pray that you follow me because I need to paint
-
a picture for us to see and for us to
-
understand and if you also realize this as I'm sharing,
-
when we talk about kingdom minded, when we're talking about
-
the Kingdom of God, we're not just thinking God's kingdom.
-
We're also looking at it as the Kingdom of Jesus,
-
and we're also looking at it as the Kingdom of
-
the Holy Spirit. That's the reason why we started off
-
with Holy Spirit first Spirit feel and then we moved
-
on to Christ centered. And so I want to paint
-
a picture so that with that understanding, we will realize
-
that in today's day, a lot of times when we
-
talk about the kingdom of Kingdom of God, Kingdom of Heaven. Okay,
-
depending on which gospels you are reading, but it's all
-
across the scriptures. You see this word in the Gospels,
-
especially Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you will see the
-
Kingdom of God mentioned in Mark, Luke, and John is
-
usually mentioned Kingdom of God. We else in the book
-
of the Gospel of Matthew is Kingdom of Heaven. Can
-
be used interchangeably. And why is it like that? Because
-
Matthew wrote the Gospels predominantly with the Jews in mind
-
as the main audience. Actually because he was wanting to
-
write to them, and the Jews were very, very afraid
-
to even use the word God. And that's why he
-
uses Kingdom of Heaven instead of Kingdom of God.
-
By okay, that's sidetrack.
-
So as I paint this picture, I hope you all
-
follow me because I'm we through the entire Old and
-
New Testament all the way to the Book of X's.
-
Okay, stay with me, Stay with me. Okay.
-
Kingdom minded Okay, when we talk about kingdom, what do
-
we realize? Always I've taught this before kingdom? What do
-
you need in a kingdom? You need a king? Okay,
-
besides the king, what do you need? What?
-
People or citizens or subjects?
-
And so in a kingdom you will have a sovereign
-
and you will have subjects. Okay, the two s's in
-
case you forget or you need a king and you
-
need people, you need citizens or sons and daughters. All
-
this will be used interchangeably.
-
Okay. I want you all to know and realize this.
-
God's intention was always for his citizens, sons and daughters
-
to spread his kingdom across the earth. That was always
-
his intentions. That's why when we read Genesis chapter one,
-
verse twenty eight. He says this, Then God bless them,
-
and say, be fruitful and multiply fill the earth and
-
govern it. Rain over the fish in the sea, and
-
the birds in the sky, and all the animals that
-
scurry along the ground. You see, originally God created us
-
as subjects of his beautiful kingdom to fulfill the role
-
as sons and daughters. But we know all that was
-
lost in the garden of Eden when Sin came into
-
the picture.
-
Are you still following me?
-
You see, today, if we look around the world, we
-
realize that it is the prince of this world that reigns.
-
The prince of darkness, is the one that has strong
-
oil over planet Earth. And this is why the Jews
-
were always left looking forward to a day when God,
-
in his sovereignty and power, will re establish his rule
-
on Earth. They believed that he would do it primarily
-
with the nation of Israel, and from there would spread
-
his rule to the nations, to the ends of the earth.
-
That's what every Jew is hoping for, not just reasonly,
-
but since back then. If you study the Old Testament
-
the New Testament, you will see it flowing through. See
-
the Jews the phrase to them the Kingdom of God.
-
Men the day when God would re establish his rule
-
on earth everywhere, and that was the heart of every
-
Jewish person's hope.
-
That was what they were hoping for.
-
Because the minute Sink came into the picture, the Kingdom
-
of God became in a way, the kingdom of darkness
-
that has taken over. After that, you see, the root
-
of the problem is this. It was not that God
-
wasn't acting in a sovereign way, because a lot of
-
times we're like God, you lose ready to the power
-
of darkness. No, he's not that he wasn't acting in
-
a sovereign way. He wasn't acting in sovereignty, but that
-
his people would not be his subjects. And I want
-
to tell you this, Okay, I want to tell you this,
-
and I want us to also realize and imagine this.
-
It's quite hipocritical for us to pray for revival. And
-
I know Revival is our team this year. But if
-
you say, Lord, bring revival, come and take over this land,
-
let your mighty arm reign supreme, but at the same
-
time you're not willing to be his subject, it's hypocritical.
-
It's like saying, Lord, I want you, but I don't
-
quite want you at the same time, and so kingdom
-
mindedness must be understood, and I want to help you
-
understand it as we journey through the Old and the
-
New Testament. Okay, stay with me, Stay me. I'm not
-
going to be teaching from a whole portion of scripture
-
because it's a whole value and I'm going to have
-
to do a bit of screenshots from the whole scripture.
-
But I want you to know that there is a
-
big difference between the Old and the New Testament when
-
it comes talking about the kingdom of God. You see,
-
in the Old Testament, God was saying, I will exercise
-
my sovereignty and release you, but will you live righteously?
-
In other words, in the Old Testament, the kingdom was
-
made up of an offer and the demand.
-
God offered release.
-
Let me say, I will release you from the curse
-
that you have, but I'm demanding righteousness in response. So
-
there is an offer, the offer to release his people,
-
but there is also a demand. The demand is for
-
you to live righteously. You see, the New Testament does
-
not do that. Instead, in the New Testament, it offers
-
release and it also offers righteousness. I will explain all
-
this as we go into it, because it will help
-
you understand.
-
In the New Testament, God.
-
Promised not only to help them on the sovereignty side,
-
basically establishing what he can do by offering them a
-
way out, but He's also going to help us as
-
we are on the subject side, we are on the
-
following side.
-
Okay, isn't that beautiful of God?
-
So God was virtually saying, I realized the problem is
-
your subjection. I realized that what your struggle with is
-
to be subjects. You can't make it because you can't
-
keep the laws. How many of your can keep all
-
the laws? Very hard, even the ten Commandments so hard
-
to keep. Ready, even though a lot of us we say,
-
actually I keep all the ten commandments, then you realize, oh, God,
-
another six hundred and thirteen after that, no, we all
-
of us find it how to keep the loss. We
-
can't keep it. We can't keep the covenants. And so
-
the sovereign God was going to help subjects to be
-
subjects in two ways. Okay, there were two ways, and
-
you will see these two ways in which He uses
-
to help the subjects. The first is by forgiving their sins. Okay,
-
you realize that how God helps subjects is that he
-
forgives our sins. That's the first step. The second thing
-
you realize is he will pour out his spirit and
-
with then you realize how God is helping his people,
-
his subjects.
-
Is this.
-
When he's forgiving our sins, he is working on our past.
-
I've explained this before.
-
When God forgives us, he says everything, all the wrong
-
things and all the bad things that you have done
-
in the past, wipe clean. Now you have you can
-
start afresh and start anew. But that just settles the past.
-
We are still living in the present and the future,
-
and so it doesn't just stop that. God does not
-
just want to forgive our sins. He also wants to
-
pour out his spirit on us, because it is God's
-
spirit that will help us live our lives. Where we
-
are today and as we move forward, it is God's
-
spirit that will help us choose to do what is right.
-
Do you understand and do you see that?
-
You see?
-
One will never be a subject of the King without
-
first experiencing the forgiveness of your sins, which works out
-
the past, and also having the Holy Spirit pawed out on.
-
You, which helps you to journey as you move forward.
-
Isn't it beautiful that righteousness is no longer a demand?
-
That means God's not saying I'm offering you this right now,
-
but I'm demanding you righteousness.
-
You show me your righteousness.
-
God, Jesus has never want us that we show him
-
our righteousness. Now, both release and righteousness is on offer. Basically,
-
God is saying, I've got enough righteousness for you as
-
well as me. And that explains why it was prostitutes
-
who got into the kingdom first when Jesus was walking
-
in this earth. You realize that it also explains why
-
religious people did not get in to his kingdom because
-
they were still trying to be righteous.
-
Do you realize the religious people were trying.
-
So hard to be righteous they could not accept Jesus'
-
orfer Jesus offer is my righteousness is for you? For them,
-
it's like I have observed all the laws and they
-
thought that they were already righteous. And that is basically
-
the difference between the Old and the New Testament. You see,
-
the Old Testament did not work because the people could
-
not make themselves subject, and yet they wanted the Soviet
-
and king.
-
They wanted a king.
-
To rule and reign, a king to rule and reign,
-
but for them to be subjects.
-
W they ran out of ideas.
-
Eventually, you see, you will only understand the conflicts that
-
Jesus went through. That he went through and the reason
-
why they put him on the cross if you realize
-
that the crowd actually you see her during even during
-
Jesus' time, the crowd.
-
Wanted him to be king. They wanted him to be king.
-
They were looking forward, and that's why it started off
-
on the Holy Hosanna Hosanna in the highest. They were
-
welcoming whom they thought would be their political king, whereas
-
all he wanted is for them to be his subjects,
-
to be his sons and daughters. And this is why
-
the message of John the Baptist was that you had
-
better repent. That was what John the Baptist said, right
-
John the Baptists knew where the kingdom would begin, and
-
it will beginning when somebody says, I want my life
-
clean up, I can't do it by myself, I need help,
-
you say. He actually said that, And John the Baptist
-
actually told the king of the country at the time
-
his name was Herod, he you shouldn't be with that
-
woman that you have right now, it's not really legal. Basically,
-
he told him to clean up your act. That's what
-
John the Baptist told Herod Antipass clean up your act.
-
And then eventually what happened to John the Baptist, his
-
hate ended up honor pleatter. So John the Baptist was
-
actually the one who came to prepare the way of
-
the Lord. And you realize when Jesus came this Jesus
-
his message was exactly the same as John the Baptist,
-
because even he said, repent for the Kingdom is here.
-
It is right among you now, Matthew, Chapter four, verse seventeen.
-
If you study carefully, theation is very clear.
-
Jesus was saying, I am the Kingdom.
-
And that's why when we talk about the Kingdom of God,
-
we can never take Jesus out of the picture. He
-
is essentially saying I am the Kingdom. And he said
-
the same things about himself and about the Kingdom. So
-
basically they're like synonyms. They can be used interchangeably. And
-
when we look at that, because his congregation, you realize
-
that you have to look at the implications of when
-
he says I am the Kingdom, because straight away his
-
congregation went down from five thousand to twelve. You see,
-
he began with a huge following, but then eventually it
-
diminished and dwindled. And then he had to look at
-
Peter and ask him, are you about to leave me
-
as well?
-
And Peter said no.
-
But what Jesus said was that they had been waiting.
-
What I mean, what Jesus said when he says, are
-
you going to leave me as well? That was not
-
what they were anticipating and expecting. But that is what
-
actually happened. And it puzzles us. How did Jesus become
-
so unpopular when in the beginning he didn't even need
-
a publicity agent. Do you realize that Jesus when he
-
first started, Wow. See, the reason is actually very very simple.
-
He refused to concentrate on the sovereignty of the kingdom,
-
and he went hard after finding subjects. You see, Jesus
-
could have come and said I'm king, I died. I mean,
-
he could have done anything.
-
He was.
-
He had the power to do anything he wanted. He
-
could come and concentrate just on sovereignty. But that was
-
not what he did. He came and he went hard
-
looking for subjects and that is not a very spectacular
-
thing to do in the eyes of people, because people
-
were hoping for a king, a sovereign to come and
-
save them. But let's look first at the sovereignty that
-
he did bring, because we must acknowledge and establish that
-
Jesus is indeed sovereign. And aren't we amazed that there
-
was never a situation in which Jesus was at a
-
loss or he was not in control of because it
-
did not matter whether it was people who were demon possessed.
-
It did not matter whether it was a storm in
-
the Sea of Galilee. It doesn't matter whether it's five
-
thousand people with nothing to eat. There was never a
-
situation where Jesus was not in control of it. You
-
realize that even when they tried to throw him off
-
the cliff and Nazareth, he was still in total control
-
because why Jesus is the king of everything, he is sovereign.
-
The people believe this was what they had been waiting for. Jesus,
-
you are the king, and we are prepared to march
-
behind you, drive the Romans out, set up thrown in Jerusalem,
-
and then put the crown on your head.
-
He wanted to do that.
-
We want you as our king, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest.
-
As the people wanted King David, we also want you.
-
But somehow Jesus say no. He refused it. And therefore
-
time and again they recognized his sovereignty wanted to have
-
it publicly displayed, but every time he said no.
-
Do you know why he said no?
-
Because he knew what was in man, and he wouldn't
-
trust any man, because he knew that none of them,
-
as years, were his subjects, even when he healed people
-
and got them released from their disease. Do you realize
-
that he healed the leper, did wonderful things for the leper.
-
You see this account in Mark chapter one, Met You
-
chapter eight, Luke chapter five. But still they refused to
-
be his subjects. Why why do I say that, Well,
-
Jesus touch and heal the man with leprosy. Then what
-
did Jesus say to him? He says, hey, two things
-
you need to do. First, don't tell anyone. The next
-
thing is go and show the priests that you are
-
healed and you are well. And do you know what
-
the next verse in the Bible tells us. So he
-
went out and told everyone, and he didn't go and
-
get it assessed by the priest. You get the message.
-
Now you see people who were healed from all types
-
of diseases, they were set free from demons. But Jesus
-
could not find anyone to be his subjects who would
-
obey his orders. You see that, And remember when Jesus asked,
-
who do men think I am? That is a pivotal question,
-
asked at a very pivotal moment, and only when Peter
-
answered it, and he answered it correct, you are the Christ. Basically,
-
he's acknowledging him as the Messiah. And Peter was the
-
first human to recognize that landmark moment. After that, you
-
see with the realization Jesus's ministry started, it took off.
-
But if you still study Peter, you realize Peter the
-
next step, the next step.
-
What did he do?
-
Jesus says, Okay, now that you understand I am the Christ,
-
here's what needs to happen. I need to go to
-
Jerusalem to be crucified. And then Peter is like, oh, no,
-
that's not going to happen. You're not doing that. Then
-
can you see what Peter recognizes the king. He's not
-
willing to be his subject. Peter will argue would rebel
-
will say no, We'll say I know better than you.
-
And up to the last day before Jesus that Peter
-
was still telling Jesus what to do. Do you realize
-
that Jesus says, I want to wash your feet, Peter,
-
and then Peter says, you are not going to do that.
-
Mm hmmm.
-
He calls him lord, but he wouldn't let him be lord,
-
and that is a is hypocrisy. And then Jesus says this,
-
if I don't wash your feet, we cannot be friends.
-
And then Peter says, okay, if that's the kid, wash
-
my entire body.
-
And then he is like I said, only the feet.
-
You realize that, right up to that moment, Jesus that
-
he had not found one subject in the kingdom. He
-
had released many, he had exercised his sovereignty of the
-
kingdom in many lives, but he had not found one
-
who was utterly loyal to him. None, even his nearest
-
friend Peter ran away, the same Peter who say, well,
-
the others may let you down, by I won Lord.
-
And then the next thing you read he says, oh,
-
this Jesus, he actually saw you know that he didn't
-
know Jesus to a small little girl, are you o
-
shame on him?
-
Small little girl asked him, do you know this man?
-
He said, datau. So there is a sense in which
-
the Lord's earthly ministry almost looked like Jesus' entire ministry
-
here on earth for three years was a failure. In fact,
-
on the day of his crucifixion, it looked like a
-
total disaster. You know, we sing the song Son of Suffering.
-
A lot of people will say, what kind of god
-
your worship? Were hung on the cross? Hung hung on
-
the tree? Son of suffering? It looked like a complete disaster.
-
But here was the king who had come to re
-
establish the rule of God on earth. Yet he left
-
without a single subject, and he is dead. But you
-
know what, something did go through. See, even the dying
-
thief said to Jesus that he believed Jesus was the
-
king and would get his kingdom. How did he know
-
that something went true? Even those who put him to
-
death put a sign on top of him that says.
-
What this is the King of the Jews.
-
We know Jesus' earthly ministry was never a failure, because
-
if you realize this right from the beginning, Jesus gathered
-
his followers, took them up to the mountain and taught
-
them what it is and what it means to be
-
a subject in the kingdom. That's how you get the
-
wonderful Blessed series, the sermons.
-
On the mound.
-
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the
-
Kingdom of Heaven.
-
And that was how he began.
-
And Jesus thought that if you are going to be
-
subject in your kingdom, there's a lot of things that
-
you need to realize. Firstly, you cannot be angry. Wow,
-
how long not to be angry? He says, you're angrier,
-
he's like killing. And then he goes on, no, to
-
make all these new introductions to what he believes is
-
the right thing to do.
-
He almost like acted like a king that's making laws.
-
He taught us that no, if you think not, he
-
thought about your neighbor's wife. M m m mmmmm. It's
-
as good as adult tree. He's saying, the way if
-
you worry, that is sin.
-
Wow.
-
He lifted the standards of the kingdom far higher than
-
Moses could have ever lifted it. And if we think
-
that are the tank of moments that Moses introduced Oh
-
so hard, so difficult, so impossible, you know, and then
-
the six hundred and thirteen other regulations that came after that,
-
derived from the Tank of Moments, even more impossible. But
-
you see, what Jesus did was he lifted the standards
-
of the kingdom even higher than Moses ever did. And
-
that's why when you read the Sermon on the Mound,
-
you're thinker, this is impossible. I'll never be a subject
-
of the kingdom. But you know what, Jesus refused to
-
lower his standard, not even one inch. In fact, he
-
pushed them heaven high. Really, he's like telling it. I mean,
-
there's the reason why he preaches from the mountain, no Sola,
-
I think, trying to get them to see and realize something.
-
In fact, Jesus seems to have spent his time putting
-
off the people who did follow him. You realize that
-
you're always like, hey, why are you following me? Are
-
you prepared to take up the cross? It's almost like
-
he wants them to follow, but yet like like one,
-
so like keep trying to put them off and put
-
them off. No, are you're willing to die on the cross? Okay,
-
you can come. I don't think it's the best way
-
you know to win friends and to influence people. But
-
yet that was what Jesus did. And in all this
-
there were still people who did follow him, even though
-
he raised the standard so high.
-
Why why would the people who followed him? I tell
-
you why?
-
Because instinctively they knew that while he sat the standards
-
so high, they also knew that he could help them
-
reach it. That's why when we sing the song his
-
love is still reaching us. It's because he is helping
-
us to reach it. The people realize that while it
-
seems impossible, Jesus didn't say, try.
-
And do it with your own STRENGTHU. You know what
-
he said. He said, my burden is light, my yog
-
is easy.
-
When Jesus says take mayo upon you, he is not
-
saying take the sermon on the mound and you try
-
to live up to it. He's saying get On the
-
other end of this is basically a tool that they
-
used to farm. They will till the ground to make
-
sure that the ground is ready to uh have seats
-
planted in it. And he's basically tied to two oxen
-
and you have to go together. And so Jesus is
-
saying I'm going to be here, You're going to be there.
-
We're going to do this together. We're going to pull
-
this together. And when we pull together, we're gonna make it.
-
You see, when the woman taken in a doultrey looked
-
at Jesus's face and he said, go and sin no more.
-
I believe she began to believe right from that day onwards.
-
Do you realize that this was the same woman who
-
had multiple husbands and then the one that she's living
-
with is not her husband yet, And then people were
-
getting ready to stone her, and then Jesus says, those
-
who have no sin in your life, you take the
-
first stone and stone her. And then of course they
-
all started living. And then he turns to her and says,
-
go and sin no more. I don't think he gave
-
her an impossible task. I believe what Jesus did was
-
we are going to do this together. And that's why
-
when she turned and looked at her. I believe she
-
knew that with God, I can do this. Aren't we
-
amazed that Jesus had the capacity to teach the highest
-
moral standards that anyone has ever taught, and yet be
-
able to be friends with sinners. Think about it his standards,
-
he didn't lower it a lot of times. What we
-
try to do is we try to lower, lower, lower
-
it so that we can be together, so that we
-
can identify with one another.
-
That's not Christ's way.
-
Jesus's way is I will show you the standard and
-
I will help you. And yet it was prostitutes, sinners,
-
people who had their life completely mess up that were
-
drawn to him. That's why I say Jesus have big
-
problems with religious leaders, religious people who are trying to
-
work their passage and was trying to be righteous themselves,
-
because the most you can achieve of your own righteousness
-
is that you can get the outside right, but you
-
can never get the inside right.
-
At least not by yourself.
-
Do you realize that sometimes we can make it look
-
like on the outside everything is okay, And that's what
-
the religious leaders were doing. On the outside, they look
-
like they were living in right. It looks like they're
-
following all the tank commandments. But you realize Jesus' ways
-
is not just the outside. It's always the inside, your motive,
-
your intention. And that's why he says, even if you
-
are angry with someone anger, you haven't even acted out.
-
The anger is actually your intention, and your motive is
-
as good as killing someone. If you have last full thoughts,
-
you haven't acted on the last full thoughts is but
-
yet it is there. So even what you think you
-
can be sinning. That is how high the standard is.
-
And that's why no one can. You can try to
-
fix the outside, but we can never fix the inside.
-
And all. This was very surprising to the.
-
Jewish people because they were so surprised that the religious
-
leaders that Jesus mixed, I mean, the religious leaders were
-
so surprised that Jesus.
-
Kept mixing with the sinners.
-
It was a surprise to the common people that he
-
would not be king when they wanted him to be king.
-
So they're all wondering what is he after.
-
He was still after releasing people from the kingdom of
-
Satan and helping them to be subjects of the Kingdom
-
of Heaven.
-
That was what Jesus was doing.
-
Yet it would look as if by the time he
-
came to die, he still.
-
Had no one.
-
Peters Uh. And there were people who had been raised
-
from the death. There were people who had been healed
-
of leprosy. There were people out of whom legions of
-
demons had been cast out. Yet when the crunch time came,
-
do you know, only one person went to Calvary, and
-
he went there alone. And on the day that Jesus
-
that the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth was reduced to
-
just one person. You see, not only was Jesus the
-
perfect sovereign of the kingdom, in total control and power
-
of every situation, but he was also the perfect subject.
-
Of the kingdom.
-
We need to realize that not only was he the
-
perfect sovereign, he was the perfect subject because he was
-
the first person who threw out his entire lifetime, had
-
been subject to the will of God perfectly. Never think
-
it was easy for Jesus to be sinless. Sometimes we're
-
like he had it easy. He learned obedience through the
-
things he suffered, and he agonized, and he sweated, not
-
just normal sweat, nor he sweated blood at the garden
-
of gadseemone, Father, is there no other way?
-
Let it pass me by? It wasn't easy.
-
Sometimes we think Jesus had it so easy, But there
-
would have been no subjects of the kingdom unless Jesus
-
went this way.
-
It was the.
-
Only way to set people totally free from Satan, and
-
Jesus had to break the power of the prince of
-
this world. And that's why Jesus finally said to the Father,
-
not my will, but yours be done.
-
And on the day that Jesus.
-
Was hanging on the cross, obedience to his father is
-
what smashed the entire kingdom of Satan.
-
Think about it.
-
That day, King Jesus triumph over principalities and powers. He
-
broke the power of the prince of this world, and
-
people have been released. And the blood of Jesus is
-
more powerful than anything Satan can do.
-
Do you know that release?
-
They will released, and from then on the kingdom could
-
be re established and subjects could be set free from
-
Satan forgiven, released, forgiven release. You see, after he had
-
reason from the day, what did Jesus do. He spent
-
time actually with the disciples about six weeks. You gave
-
them Bible study, Okay, when he resurrected six weeks, he
-
was walking with them. He brought them through every part
-
of the scriptures, from the Laws to the prophets to
-
the psalms. And what was his tea? I tell you
-
what his team was. His team was the Kingdom of God.
-
That's what kingdom mindedness is all about. He took them
-
eventually to the Mount of Olives and then they realized, hey,
-
sounds like goodbye right now. And you know what his
-
fellow message was to them. His fell message is, guys,
-
you got to go out. I'm going to send you out.
-
But he let them know that if they were to
-
be his disciples and to demonstrate his sovereignty, they can
-
only do it with the Holy Spirit. See, the Holy
-
Spirit is also involved with this in this and that's
-
why he says you are to wait in Jerusalem until
-
the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And that is where
-
the Kingdom lies. Now today, the Kingdom of God lies
-
wherever the Holy Spirit is. The Kingdom was inaugurated. It
-
started back in this earth when King Jesus was born
-
in that faithful day in a manger.
-
Re establish.
-
Restarted after Sin came in and took away everything for
-
our time being. But now we know it has restarted
-
when kingdom when King Jesus came.
-
But it's not.
-
Completely fulfilled as we can all see, but one day
-
it will come to fruition. Right now, I can tell
-
you this, the Kingdom lies wherever the Holy Spirit is.
-
That means wherever the Holy Spirit is feeling people, you
-
will see two things. You will see the sovereignty of
-
God being exercised, and then you realize this is the
-
same sovereignty Jesus exercise over demons and disease. And that's
-
why those who have the Holy Spirit, you have the
-
authority to cast demons out to help heal people. Not
-
only will you see the sovereignty of God exercise, you
-
will see people whom the Holy Spirit has enable to
-
be the subjects of this kingdom. It is the Holy
-
Spirit that helps us realize the sovereignty of God, helps
-
us to derive the power of the sovereignty of God
-
in our lives to do things that only God can do.
-
It is the Holy Spirit that.
-
Also enables us, as followers of Christ, to be subjects
-
of the kingdom. God is looking for subjects, and the
-
Holy Spirit doesn't just bring the sovereignty of the kingdom.
-
He also helps us to be subjects. That is the
-
kingdom of Jesus and the Kingdom of the Holy Spirit.
-
And that's why Paul wrote, but if you are led
-
by the Spirit, you are not under law Galatians five,
-
verse eighteen. In other words, if the Spirit is telling
-
you what to do, and you do it. Nobody will
-
ever need to tell you about laws. You won't need
-
to be given rules for your life. You can be
-
quite sure you won't break any rules if the fruit
-
of the Spirit is growing in you.
-
That's what Paul men actually and what is the fruit
-
of the spirit.
-
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, makenus, self control.
-
All those things appear in the life of someone who
-
is living by and walking with the Holy Spirit.
-
You believe that.
-
That's why it's so important that we started with spirit.
-
Feel because in today's day and age, as we are
-
walking this way, we need the Holy Spirit.
-
You see, fruit grows gradually.
-
How many of you'll see a fruit that stray ripens
-
doesn't happen like that.
-
It takes time.
-
The gifts of the spirit can appear immediately, but the
-
fruit grow as how a fruit tree usually fruits over
-
a period of time, as you continue to live in
-
the spirit. That's why in Glatious four, verses twenty four
-
to twenty five, it says this those who belong to
-
Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature, which it's passions
-
and desires. Since we live by the spirit. Let us
-
keep in step with the spirit. Remember again the double offer.
-
Not only does God offer us released by his sovereignty,
-
he is also offering us his righteousness to be his subjects.
-
You see, that's what happened on the cross. On the cross,
-
the theological teaching is that God's righteousness was imputed and
-
impartant on us.
-
Okay, just look at it this way.
-
We can't be righteous on our own, and so the
-
exchange that took place on the cross is that our
-
sins God takes and puts it on his body. He
-
is righteousness, He takes and he puts it on his people.
-
And how that righteousness.
-
Is accepted, appropriated, taken is when we believe in what
-
Jesus has done on the cross. That's what took place
-
on the cross, and so he does not want to
-
keep his righteousness for himself.
-
He wants to give it to you.
-
And we can receive and appropriate this righteousness when we believe.
-
That's why faith is such an important thing in our lives.
-
We are not saved by faith. We are safe because
-
it is God's grace upon our life. We are safe
-
by his grace, true faith when we believe in what
-
he has done. Because what happens is grace is when
-
we receive something we don't deserve. What is the thing
-
that we receive that we don't deserve? God's righteousness? And
-
that's why when Father in heaven sees us, eventually, what
-
he sees is not our righteousness, because our righteousness has
-
always been compaed to the filthiest of rags. That means
-
our righteousness counts for nothing. What he wants to see
-
is his Son's righteousness in each and every one of us.
-
And so remember this double offer. God is releasing us
-
from our past. No longer are we bound by the
-
mystics that we have made. But He is also offering
-
us his righteousness so that we can keep moving forward.
-
You see in the spirit. If you walk in the
-
spirit and live in the spirit, you will find you
-
don't do the things that the flesh wants to do
-
because the two are not compatible.
-
They are not compatible.
-
Those who are in Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh
-
with its desires.
-
Do you realize that the word crucified.
-
Sometimes when we use the word crucified, we think it's
-
kill kill straight away.
-
It is lie, it is skill.
-
But you know death by crucifixion is actually a very
-
slow death. What happened to Jesus, And of course we
-
know Jesus was crucified a ninety am in the morning.
-
He died at three pm in the afternoon. But actually
-
that's considered very very quick in the normal terms. Most people,
-
sometimes those who go through crucifixion, it takes a few days,
-
sometimes up to a whole week that can be hanging
-
and still be alive.
-
That's why it's a torture.
-
Is the most tortuous way to die. And so we
-
know the crucifixion is not something that you don't die
-
straight away. And so the verse that says you have
-
crucified the flesh means you have nailed the flesh.
-
To the cross. But the problem is that it takes
-
some time for the flesh to die. Right.
-
The flesh will say, hey, take the nails outline the
-
afternoon to come ready, Please just give me a break,
-
That's what the flesh will cry out. And if you
-
take the nails out, it can be very much alive again.
-
That is the reality of it.
-
That's why the scripture says live your own life on
-
the cross until it dies. It has been crucified. It
-
has been nailed there, so leave it there and walk
-
in the spirit.
-
That's what the scripture is essentially teaching us.
-
If you want to enjoy being a subject of the
-
kingdom so that you want to do the right thing,
-
you want to keep the commandments, then the simple thing
-
is for us to walk in the spirit, walk with
-
the Holy Spirit. You see, walking is a simple thing
-
to do, right. You just live one foot up and
-
then you put it down, and then you live the
-
next one up, and then you put it down. Walking
-
is not very spectacular because every step, every step that
-
you take, actually is in a direction.
-
That you choose. We all have a choice now.
-
You can choose to walk in the flesh today or
-
you can choose to walk in the spirit. And I'm
-
sharing this not as someone who all I do is
-
walk and float in the Holy Spirit. No, I always
-
say this sin is stempting. It's nice, it's pleasurable. There
-
are days when I also want to go and pull
-
the nail out from the cause. In fact, there are
-
days when I do pull the nail out from the cross,
-
make the same mistakes thereafter. But we need the Holy Spirit.
-
That's why we need the Holy Spirit because it ultimately
-
it is a choice. We can make a choice because
-
we are convinced, or we can make a choice because
-
we are tempted. But when you have a step to
-
take or a decision to make, let's exercise this. Let's say,
-
Holy Spirit, which way do you want me to go?
-
And you choose to take another step in a different direction,
-
you won't enjoy the power of the whole kingdom. But
-
if you choose to take the step that the Holy
-
Spirit is prompting in your heart, I believe you will
-
enjoy the power of the Kingdom. You see, it is
-
walking in the spirit that produces the fruit of the Spirit.
-
It is taking one step after another in the direction
-
that He is leading you, And that is all we
-
need to do. Sometimes when we think kingdom minded, Wow,
-
so big, it's so impossible. How do I even experience
-
what kingdom minded is? How do I experience God's Kingdom?
-
How do I experience Heaven on earth? The concept is
-
just beyond what I can ever imagine or I can
-
ever do. Can I tell you this? Actually, all it
-
needs is for us to walk one step at the time.
-
Every day we are faced and presented with decisions and choices.
-
We can either choose the way of the Lord and
-
ask the Holy Spirit guide guide my path. That's why
-
the Scriptures is known as the lamb that lights out
-
our path so that we know where we are going.
-
Walking in the spirit, you.
-
Will see fruit start to grow and appear in your life.
-
If you keep walking in the flesh, then you will
-
grow the desires of the flesh that will get stronger
-
and stronger. And so I want to encourage us. It's okay,
-
don't look at it as I want to overcome all
-
in one goal. No, start with the decision that is
-
right before you. Every morning you have a decision to
-
make to wake up and say good morning, Holy Spirit,
-
or to snooze until you wake up two hours later.
-
It's a choice. Ultimately, is a choice. You see, the
-
Lord is looking for subjects of the Kingdom. He's looking
-
for people like you who will determine that you will
-
follow the Spirit.
-
Wherever he leads.
-
People ask, you know, sometimes should I leave a place
-
or should I stay? And I always tell them do
-
what the Spirit tells them to do, not do what
-
your flesh tells you to do. A lot of times
-
we make decisions that is based on our flesh. That
-
means I'm going to leave because someone offended me. I
-
don't think the spirit will tell you to live because
-
someone offended you.
-
Really, I'm going to leave.
-
Because I can't see eye to I don't like my
-
family right now, and I think I want to leave home.
-
It's time to leave home. Don't leave home because you
-
don't get along with your parents. Leave home because you're
-
getting married and it's the right thing to do. Okay,
-
that's fine, but make sure whatever it is, I'm sure
-
the Holy Spirit will always lead us to reconciliation first
-
and foremost.
-
That's my sincere and my honest beliefs.
-
So ask the Holy Spirit, because whatever the Spirit.
-
Clearly leads you to do, do it.
-
That is all you need to decide on every day
-
you are faced with decisions, and praise God because you know,
-
I meet many people who are still stepping out and saying,
-
I'll still take every step that the Spirit of God
-
leads me. I pray ex church today that we will
-
be followers of Christ who would hear from the Holy Spirit.
-
You need to be sure that it is the Holy
-
Spirit that is leading you, because there will always be
-
those fleshly impulses that will come your way, and you
-
need to watch out for those fleshly impulses. You need
-
to watch out for the suggestions of other flesh that
-
will tell you maybe you should do this, maybe you
-
should do that, Maybe you know you should feel this way.
-
As Holy Spirit, what do I do? What do I say?
-
All that God is asking from you is that you
-
promise him that everything you know the Spirit leads you
-
to do, you will do, and you will be a
-
subject of His kingdom. I kid you not, This is
-
the Kingdom of God in which we may now live.
-
And were amazed because the good news is this, You
-
can live in the Kingdom of Heaven today. All of
-
us can experience a peace of Heaven today. See, the
-
power of the Spirit is the power not only to
-
cause an individual to live right and be a subject,
-
but the power of the Spirit is the power to
-
get on with the most unlikely people and be harmonious,
-
be a harmonious community. Basically, why I'm saying is this,
-
Do you know that the church, the Church can be
-
people who are inhabited by the Spirit of God Because
-
the Church is people. And that's why in Acts Chapter two,
-
verses forty six, to forty seven, where we God the
-
scriptures the whole kingdom minded, as the value says this.
-
They worship together at the temple each day, met in
-
homes for the Lord's suppered and shared their meals with
-
great joy and generosity all the wild, praising God and
-
enjoying the good will of all the people. And each
-
day the Lord added to their fellowship those who.
-
Are being saved.
-
We are people of the spirit when we are spirit filled. Automatically,
-
someone who is spirit filled will acknowledge Jesus as the
-
center of it all, because that is the function, the role,
-
and the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to lead us
-
to Christ and all that Christ has done for us.
-
And we are spirit filled and we have Christ in
-
our lives, it is impossible to not be Kingdom minded.
-
Impossible.
-
And so today I want to encourage each and every
-
one of us. Sometimes I know when we talk Kingdom
-
of God, we are like, it's so big, what does
-
it mean? Well, it means that God is looking for
-
subjects and those of us who holds dearly to the
-
Spirit of God in our lives and follows after Jesus
-
as the Savior who has given us hope and the future.
-
I believe we can experience the Kingdom of Heaven here
-
on earth.
