Hallelujah. So anyway, we'll uh I'm
-
going to start out kind of sort of where
-
we were uh Sunday morning and um you
-
know, we we talked about from Sunday
-
morning, we we kind of launched out into
-
um the power of sunship.
-
And uh if there's anything the church
-
world really we need to get a good
-
handle on, it's that's who we are. Who I
-
am in him, who he is in me. I'm grateful
-
for that. I don't know about you, I
-
didn't know that for a long time. I knew
-
I saved. I knew I was going to heaven. I
-
knew who he was. I just didn't know who
-
I was. And when that started getting on
-
the inside of me, started changing
-
everything. But we'll go back through
-
there. We'll start here and then we're
-
going to go, I don't know, three or four
-
different directions. But if we go back
-
here to John chapter 1
John 1 chapter mention
-
and uh we'll start what? Verse Let's
-
let's start out with verse uh um let's
-
go to verse 10.
-
The Gospel of John chapter 1 verse 10
-
talking about Jesus that he was in the
-
world and the world was made by him and
-
the world knew him not.
-
He came unto his own and his own
-
received him not. Think about that. The
-
price he paid to redeem us and he showed
-
up here and nobody even paid any
-
attention to him. Came to his own and
-
his own received him not. But now verse
-
12 where it starts getting really good.
-
But as many as received him
-
came to his own, his own received him
-
not. But to as many as received him, to
-
them gave he the power, the ability, the
-
dominion, the authority. To him, to them
-
gave he the power to become the sons of
-
God. To as many as believed on his name.
-
So he came to his own, his own received
-
him not. But to as many as received him,
-
to them gave he the power, the authority
-
to become the sons of God. That verse
-
right there, it's changed everything.
-
Okay. He brought us into his family. You
-
know, you stop and think about it.
-
Jesus,
-
John 3:16, for God so loved the world.
-
That's a verse. Everybody knows that.
-
Okay? Should For God so loved the world,
-
he gave his only begotten son that
-
whosoever believeth on him should not
-
perish but have everlasting life. So, we
-
see that John chapter 3:1 16 uh you know
-
that whosoever believes on him should
-
not perish but have everlasting life. We
-
see that there. And uh he paid that
-
price for us. So he uh
-
it starts out for God so loved the
-
world, he gave us his only begotten son.
-
You know, you go back through there and
-
we talked about it Sunday morning if you
-
were here. We talked about it at one
-
particular point. If you go back through
-
there, um you've got over in Luke the 3
-
chapter, you've got around verse, I
-
don't know, 23, 24, something like that.
-
You've got really you've got about 4,000
-
years of of genealogies. This one was
-
the son of this one. Who is the son of
-
this one? Who's the I I don't go through
-
all that. Number one, it take too long.
-
Number two, I can't pronounce half of
-
them anyway. But
-
when you go back through there, you've
-
got all the genealogies from everything
-
goes and it it ends up at the very end
-
of the third chapter of the book of Luke
-
says, "Who was the son of Adam?"
-
Who was the son of God? Here's
-
something. Think about that. God God had
-
one son, Adam. That was his son. That
-
was great except Adam blew it. God said,
-
you know, whatever you do, there's two
-
trees in the midst of the garden.
-
There's the tree of life. Eat of that
-
all you want. There's another tree of
-
knowledge of good and evil. Do not eat
-
of that because in the day that you do,
-
you'll surely die. Die didn't mean he'll
-
stop breathing. Die meant he'd separate
-
himself from the King of Kings. So, he
-
told him not to do that. And of course,
-
you know, I mean, you can figure out
-
which one, you know, human nature set in
-
before human nature had much chance to
-
get used to it. And next thing you know,
-
God told them to stay away from do not
-
eat of that tree. And of course, you
-
know, they're they're over there
-
checking out to see why that crazy
-
snake's talking to them. And next thing
-
you know, they're eating of the tree of
-
uh knowledge of good and evil. And when
-
they did, you know, of course, God shows
-
up later on. He said, "Where are you?"
-
We said, "We hid ourselves." He said,
-
"How do you know you hid yourself?" And
-
of course they had to understand then
-
that God said, "You ate of the tree. You
-
did what I told you not to do." So we go
-
back through there
-
and uh
-
so God had one son, Adam, and Adam gave
-
up that sunship.
-
Okay? And so for the next 4,000 years of
-
humanity, roughly 4,000 best we can
-
tell, you've got humanity going through
-
4,000 years all the way from Adam's fall
-
to the Gospels. When you get over there
-
into the third chapter of the book of
-
Luke where where it talks about Jesus
-
how he was baptized and the river came
-
up out of the water praying the heavens
-
opened the the spirit of God descended
-
in bodily form like a dove came upon him
-
remained upon him and a voice came out
-
of heaven said thou art my beloved son
-
in thee I am well pleased. God went
-
imagine that God who started this whole
-
thing out started with a son. the son
-
traded everything in. When he did that,
-
all of a sudden, God's got no sons. He's
-
got friends. You know, Adam, uh, Abraham
-
was called a friend. You know, Moses,
-
God looked spent some time with him like
-
face to face as a friend. Uh, you've got
-
God with a couple friends out of masses
-
of humanity. And you've got you've got
-
um
-
masses of of uh uh masses of basically
-
uh f a couple friends, but you know,
-
just just a few um uh
-
you know, what's the term I'm looking
-
for? He had he a lot of folks that that
-
worked for him, a lot of people that
-
hang out with him. He just didn't have
-
any sons. Didn't have any family
-
members. Okay. And so we go back through
-
there and you've got God with 4,000
-
years with no sons and all of a sudden
-
Jesus shows up and the Bible said, "For
-
God so loved the world, he gave his only
-
begotten son." And so we look at this
-
and the first thing God does was he
-
gives us his son. Number two, he shows
-
us his son. He has a son walk and talk
-
and act and think and do the works of a
-
son. Did everything a son would do.
-
Okay? And and showed us a son. I like we
-
we had the chance, brother uh Dr. TL
-
Osbor, you know, before he checked out
-
and went over to the other side. We were
-
we were talking with him at one
-
particular point and uh he said he was
-
talking to Daisy, his wife at one
-
particular point and said uh she said,
-
"Daisy," now think about this. Here's
-
Daisy, his wife, talking to TL Osborne,
-
the leading frontier evangelist on
-
planet Earth. Okay? And she says, "Tiel,
-
why did Jesus come?" Well, you know,
-
that's kind of a loaded question. When
-
you ask TL Osborne why Jesus came,
-
you're you're about in for a six or
-
eight hour message in there. Why did
-
Jesus come? He said, 'Well, he came to
-
seek and save that which is lost. Yeah.
-
He came to destroy the works of the
-
devil. Yeah. Okay. He came to show us
-
the father. Yeah. He came to show us a
-
son. Yeah. He said, "I think this is a
-
loaded question. I think you got an
-
answer I'm not getting yet." She said,
-
he said, "What is what did Jesus come to
-
do? He came to do all those things.
-
came to show us the father. Came to
-
demonstrate us, son. But she said, "He
-
came to show us the son, but he also
-
came to show us us."
-
And I remember when he told us that, it
-
was kind of like it went off like
-
fireworks. I thought, "Yeah, I get what
-
you're saying. Jesus came to show us the
-
father. He came to show us a son, but he
-
also came to show us us because he was
-
Jesus was going to make us sons and
-
daughters of the living God." And so
-
anyway, so we came into the family of
-
God. We came in as sons and daughters
-
and um uh all of a sudden everything
-
started changing. We became a child of
-
almighty God. Jesus disciples, excuse
-
me, the devils
-
didn't really have any clue. Some of
-
them cried out and said, you know, we
-
know you're the son of God. What have
-
you come to torment us before the time?
-
The devil seemed to understand who he
-
was. Just nobody else did. Finally, he
-
Jesus asked Peter said, "Uh, who do uh
-
who who do people say I am?" Peter said,
-
"Well, you know, some say you're Jer uh
-
Jeremiah, John the Baptist, you know,
-
one of one of the prophets." Yeah. And
-
then he says, "Okay, let's take it a
-
step further. Who do you say I am?" This
-
is getting down to business now. Who do
-
you say I am? Peter says, "What? Well,
-
you're the Christ, the Son of the living
-
God." Jesus said, "Blessed art thou,
-
Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has
-
not revealed this unto thee, but my
-
father which is in heaven, and unto you
-
I'll give the keys of the kingdom of
-
heaven." We know where it goes from
-
there.
-
But uh in that particular context, he
-
said uh Peter got it. You know, it's
-
Jesus said, "Flesh and blood didn't give
-
this to you. You got this from heaven."
-
He said, "Thou art the Christ, the son
-
of the living God." He got it. Now,
-
think about that. I'm sure he went back
-
to all the other guys. He went back to
-
the boys, okay? Said, "I want you to
-
know who we're with. I got it today.
-
This is not just a local prophet. This
-
is not just one of the prophets. This is
-
not like, you know, like uh Elijah,
-
Elisha, Jeremiah, John. This is this is
-
the son of God. I know. I heard it from
-
heaven. He told me I'm right."
-
>> Okay. So, he got that. And so now all
-
these guys, all the disciples, Jesus'
-
team, they all knew who they were with.
-
They suddenly had an understanding.
-
We're not just with a prophet. We're
-
with Jesus, the son of the living God.
-
And so I'm sure that changed everything.
-
And so they said, "We're we're walking
-
with him. We're talking with him. He's
-
teaching us. We're learning from him.
-
He's he's distributing everything he
-
knows to us. He's giving. He's we got
-
three and a half years. He's going to
-
deposit in us everything he's got. We
-
are with the son of the living God. This
-
is great. And uh we're going to spend
-
our life learning from Jesus, the son of
-
God. That's great until we get to the
-
11th chapter of Luke's gospel.
-
And the disciples said, "Jesus, teach us
-
to pray." As John also taught his
-
disciples. And he said, "Okay, that's
-
not a problem. I'll teach you to pray."
-
And all of a sudden, everything
-
everything changed again. They had just
-
gotten used to the fact that they're
-
with the son of God. And all of a
-
sudden, Jesus says, "When you pray, say
-
this, first two words in what we call
-
the Lord's prayer, our father."
-
Changed everything there. They just
-
figured out there with Jesus. And we
-
knew who his father was. But all of a
-
sudden, Jesus said, "When you pray, say
-
this, our father, which art in heaven,
-
hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,
-
thy gave him what we call the Lord's
-
prayer." So, so suddenly now the Jesus
-
is going to take the rest of the time
-
he's got on planet earth and he's going
-
to start training his disciples to walk
-
as sons, talk as sons, live the life of
-
sons, do the works of sons. And that's
-
really what Jesus began to to uh to
-
teach them.
-
If you go back to John the 14th chapter
-
verse 12, Jesus said talking to his
-
disciples, he said, "Verily, verily, I
-
say unto you, he that he that believeth
-
on me, he that believeth on me, the
-
works that I do shall he do also, and
-
greater works than these shall he do
-
because of going unto my father." What's
-
he doing? He's starting to raise them
-
up. He's starting to train him up.
-
Verily, verily, when he uses two
-
verileies, you know, he wants you to
-
listen. Verily, verily, I say unto you,
-
he that believeth on me, the works that
-
I do shall he do also, and greater
-
works, not just greater works, the
-
works. I remember, you know, when I
-
first started walking with God, uh got
-
my life right number of years ago now.
-
And uh you know, you you we'd start
-
talking about some of these things and
-
and people start talking about, you
-
know, well, we you know, the the doing
-
the greater works and the greater works.
-
And one I finally said to one, I said,
-
"Well, my Bible said that it's not just
-
the greater works. I need to be doing
-
the works he did and greater works than
-
these because he went to the father. I
-
need to be doing what he did." Jesus
-
raised up a a uh a kingdom of sons and
-
daughters. That's what he's done for us.
-
He's raised us up. Here we are 2,000
-
years down the road, and it's time for
-
us to step into that. You know, if you
-
go back through, we won't take time this
-
evening, but if you go to um
-
the eth chapter of the book of Romans,
-
it says in there later on in the
-
chapter, it says, "All of creation,
-
all of creation." There's a lot of
-
different interpretations of this, but I
-
think it's the Philips translation said,
-
"All of all of creation is standing on
-
its tiptoes waiting to see the sons of
-
God come into their own." Didn't just
-
wait. Didn't say they're just waiting to
-
see a son of God. They're waiting to see
-
the sons of God come into their own. God
-
has paid the price to bring us into his
-
family. God's paid the price to make us
-
sons and daughters of the living God.
-
God's paid the price to bring us into
-
his kingdom. God's paid the price so we
-
could do the works he did greater works
-
because he went to the father. So, here
-
we are and we're couple thousand years
-
down the road and uh I don't know about
-
you, look, the world's a kind of a crazy
-
place right now. You know, um the the
-
question is uh are we going to are we
-
going to take out Iran? I don't know.
-
Are we going to we got all of our ships
-
over there? We is the world going to
-
come to a screeching halt. Are we going
-
to go into World War II? I don't know.
-
Don't have a clue. But I do know we're
-
we are we're pretty close to the end of
-
things for the church age. But I don't
-
think the church is done. I I I wouldn't
-
like to think that this is all there is.
-
is that we're just going to wrap it up
-
and go home say, "Well, hasn't it been
-
fun? We didn't get a lot of things done.
-
We did pretty good job." I It just looks
-
to me like there's something the church
-
world's going to have to do.
-
The world, excuse me, the world is
-
standing on their tiptoes waiting to see
-
the sons of God come into their own.
-
This been 2,000 years about time we we
-
just, you know, about time we got with
-
the program. So anyway, let's just move
-
on from here. We could go this many
-
directions of this but but the you know
-
the bottom line is what we're what we're
-
do there's a call of God on the church
-
world to walk the walk talk the talk
-
rise up and be sons be daughters of the
-
living God now we've talked about it
-
before numerous times but if you go back
-
through there
-
where uh uh Matthew's gospel chapter 4
-
verse 23 where it says back there Jesus
-
went so so if we're going to do what he
-
did, we got to find out what he did.
-
You know, it's it's one thing to say,
-
I'm we're going to do the works of
-
Jesus. What did he do? I don't know, but
-
I'm going to do them. No, we if we're
-
going to do the works he did, we got to
-
find out what he did. And if we're going
-
to find out how he what he did, we need
-
to find out how he did it. We said last
-
week, John G. Lake went to to South
-
Africa and uh he'd had signs and wonders
-
and miracles all over America, but he
-
said, "God sent me, took my family, sent
-
us to South Africa, went down to
-
Johannesburg and uh they started
-
planting churches." I think overall, I
-
think he started about 500 churches, but
-
I'm not sure. But he's got down there
-
and um he said God began he said he he
-
in the states here he showed us what he
-
did but he took us to South Africa where
-
he could take us behind the scenes and
-
show us how he did it. And so when I saw
-
that I started reading every John G Lake
-
book I could get my hands on. I've got
-
books with the covers worn off. I've got
-
books every kind of book. I found one
-
the other day. You can hardly read the
-
cover on the thing. It's so old. But I
-
went back through there because I
-
thought that's what God sent him to do
-
to South Africa was to go behind the
-
scenes and not just see what God did,
-
but see how God did it. And that's
-
really what the church needs. Because if
-
we're going to do what he did, we got to
-
figure out how he did it
-
>> best we can. Well,
-
that being the case, if we go back to
-
Matthew the uh 9th uh fourth chapter,
-
excuse me, fourth chapter, 23rd verse,
-
it said Jesus went round about their
-
cities and villages, teaching in their
-
synagogues, preaching the gospel of the
-
kingdom and healing every manner of
-
sickness and every manner of disease
-
among the people. The way Jesus did
-
everything was teaching, preaching, and
-
healing. Teaching, preaching, and
-
healing. There's no shortcut to that.
-
follow the ministry of Jesus through
-
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And there
-
were times he'd just walk up and deliver
-
a miracle to somebody. But as a general
-
rule, Jesus started everything out by
-
teaching, preaching, healing, teaching,
-
preaching, healing. Teaching, preaching,
-
healing. If that's how he did it, and if
-
the church is going to do the works
-
Jesus did, what should we be doing?
-
Teaching, preaching, healing, teaching,
-
preaching, healing. And you find the
-
ministry of Jesus when he was in uh in
-
uh Mark's gospel uh I believe it's the
-
sixth chapter uh went to his own
-
hometown and the Bible said there he
-
could do no mighty works. Mark chapter 6
Mark 6 chapter mention
-
verse5 I think it was there he could do
-
no mighty works he laid his hands upon a
-
few sick folk a few folks with minor
-
ailments and healed them. Okay. Went to
-
imagine that. Went to his own hometown.
-
Boy, if you're going to have miracles
-
you want them in your own hometown. went
-
to his own hometown and said there
-
didn't say he wouldn't said he couldn't.
-
There he could do no mighty work say he
-
laid his hands upon a few sick folk and
-
healed them. Got a few folks healed of,
-
you know, of colds, flu, and and uh uh
-
hangails. He's got he he got some people
-
healed of some minor things,
-
but said he went to his own hometown.
-
there he could do no mighty works. Save
-
he laid his hands upon a few sick folk
-
and healed them and marveled because of
-
their unbelief and went round about
-
their cities and villages teaching. See,
-
when things didn't work, Jesus knew if
-
things weren't working, it wasn't just
-
because it just wasn't going to work.
-
Jesus knew if people weren't getting
-
what he had, it's because they hadn't
-
heard what he was saying. So what'd he
-
do? He went back and he began to travel
-
around. Teach, preach, heal. teach,
-
preach, heal, teach, preach, heal,
-
teach, preach, heal. Uh Luke's gospel,
-
fifth chapter. He was in the house uh
-
teaching. Place was filled with scribes,
-
Pharisees, doctors of the law. And it
-
says the power of the Lord was, this is
-
the best part, said the power of the
-
Lord. Luke chapter 5, it's verse 17, I
Luke 5 chapter mention
-
think, says, "And the power of the Lord
-
was
-
>> present to heal them." No, not just
-
present to heal. said it was present to
-
heal them. It was God's will to heal
-
them or the power would not have been
-
there to heal them. Okay? So there Jesus
-
is he's teaching. We know that it says
-
he's in there teaching. He's teaching in
-
the power of the Lord's present to heal
-
them and none of them are getting
-
healed.
-
So what do you do? Shake the dust off
-
his feet and say, "I'm done with this
-
place. I'll never come back. I will
-
never come back and do another meeting
-
here again in my life." No. What do you
-
do when people aren't getting the
-
results? He's anointed with the Holy
-
Ghost and power. Nobody's taken
-
advantage of that. Nobody's being
-
healed, no miracles taking place. Power
-
of the Lord's it. Well, maybe God just
-
didn't want him healed. Well, that
-
wouldn't make any sense. God's no
-
respector of persons, and if nobody's
-
getting healed and the power of the
-
Lord's present to heal them, something's
-
going wrong somewhere. So, what'd he do?
-
He knew if they're not getting healed,
-
the power it isn't. Well, there just not
-
enough power. No, there's plenty of
-
power. Power of the Lord is present to
-
heal them and none of them are getting
-
healed. So, what does he do? He knows
-
his ministry, the way it works. See, if
-
the church gets hold of this, we want to
-
go meeting to meeting to meeting and lay
-
hands on everybody until they get
-
friction burns on their forehead. That's
-
just not going to work. You might get a
-
few people healed that way, but what
-
happens is a lot of times we're trying
-
to take a shortcut, get somebody healed
-
without doing things the way Jesus did
-
it. How did Jesus do it? He went round
-
about, Matthew 4:23, went round about
-
their cities and villages, teaching in
-
their synagogues, preaching the gospel
-
of the kingdom, and healing every manner
-
of sickness and every manner of disease
-
among the people. He went about
-
teaching, preaching, healing. And just
-
in case that doesn't register, go to
-
Matthew the 9th chapter, 35th verse says
-
the same thing. God said it twice in
-
Matthew's gospel said Jesus uh went
-
round about their cities and villages
-
teaching in their synagogues, preaching
-
the gospel. He just he he repeats this
-
teaching in their synagogues, preaching
-
the gospel of the kingdom, and
-
healing every manner of sickness and
-
every manner of disease amongst people.
-
And then it goes a little ways from
-
there. Talks about praying that he'd,
-
you know, he'd thrust labors into his
-
harvest and so on. But again, Matthew
-
4:23, Matthew 9:35, both places he said
-
the the ministry of Jesus, the now there
-
were other things he did. We understand
-
that. But the primary way he he
-
ministered to humanity once the Holy
-
Ghost came on him, the anointing of God
-
came on, the anointing he left behind
-
when he came to earth came on him when
-
he was baptized in the river Jordan came
-
back on him and at that point he went
-
round about their cities and villages
-
teaching, preaching, healing, teaching,
-
preaching, healing. You know, that's
-
really it doesn't take a rocket
-
scientist to figure that out. If that's
-
how Jesus got results in his earthly
-
ministry. And then John 14:12, verily,
-
verily,
-
I say unto you that he that believeth on
-
me, the works that I do shall he do
-
also, and greater works than these shy
-
do because I go unto my father. If we're
-
if we're going to do what Jesus did,
-
we're probably going to have to do it
-
the way he did it.
-
You know, he didn't say, "This is great,
-
but I'm going to I'm I'm going to give
-
you a a short course." Okay? This takes
-
a lot of work. Teach, preach, heal. I'm
-
going to cut off a couple of these
-
things and just tell you just run
-
around. You know, you can go over to the
-
cathedrals over in uh Italy and
-
different places in Europe and you can
-
find these you can find these pictures
-
of Jesus. Uh oh, he's he's um anemic.
-
He's he's really skinny. He's anemic. He
-
doesn't look good at all. He's tiptoeing
-
down the pathway and he's just he's just
-
kind of reaching out. healing this one
-
and then he's healing that one and and
-
this that just makes it look like that's
-
how he did everything but that's not how
-
he did everything.
-
He went around about their cities and
-
villages
-
>> teaching in their synagogues preaching
-
the gospel of the kingdom healing every
-
When did the healing take place?
-
>> After the teaching and pre When did the
-
teaching and preaching take place?
-
before the he you're a step ahead of me.
-
Couple steps. Isn't that the I mean
-
that's what it says. When did the
-
healing take place? After teaching and
-
preaching. When did the he when did the
-
teaching and preaching take place?
-
Before the healing. You know, like I
-
said, it doesn't take a rocket scientist
-
to figure that one out. If that's the
-
way it worked for Jesus. And he told the
-
church that the works that he do did we
-
do we we should do also and greater
-
works than these shall he do we do
-
because he went to the father. then we
-
ought to get the same results.
-
>> Okay? You know, I mean, most people if
-
you say, you know, we I want to go so so
-
and so's meeting, I'll tell you he's
-
doing the works of Jesus. Well, is he
-
just teaching the Bible? Well, no, he
-
you know, he's no I that's okay, but I'm
-
going where they're doing the works of
-
you know, ever stop and think about it.
-
If you want to find where you somebody's
-
doing the works of Jesus, the first
-
thing you want to find out is they're
-
teaching andor preaching and healing.
-
>> Okay? No, I know. Don't misunderstand
-
me. There are places I've read um
-
a number of William Brandon books. I've
-
read AA Allen books. I've read Jack Co
-
books. I've read Katherryn Kman books.
-
I've read all this. And and you know,
-
and most of these ministries because of
-
the way they were used in the healing
-
the great healing revival 1947 and 1958.
-
because of the way they were used in
-
that particular
-
uh movement. A lot of them were getting
-
results without a lot of teaching and
-
preaching. In fact, some of the teaching
-
and preaching is a little scary when you
-
did find it.
-
I'll just that's enough said about that.
-
But anyway, anyway, you go back through
-
there and uh as a general rule, you will
-
find some times when there are people,
-
William Brandham, man, he'd just get up
-
there and uh he he'd just stand up
-
there. Said he'd look like a scared
-
rabbit. Said he'd look he'd stand up,
-
you know, behind the pulpit said he'd
-
just stand there and look around, look
-
like he was just afraid to do anything.
-
And he said until, from what I've read,
-
until the angel showed up that worked
-
with him in the healing revival, an
-
angel worked with him and began to work
-
with him in the healings and would tell
-
him people being healed and all of a
-
sudden he just he's like a like remember
-
the old uh comic books when when Clark
-
Kent went into the phone booth. Some of
-
you are looking at me really funny.
-
Clark who?
-
Anyway, Clark Kent. He'd go into the
-
phone booth. He's just this normal
-
looking guy, you know, porn room
-
glasses, nice suit, all that. Goes into
-
the into the phone booth. He comes out
-
and he's got a he's got a red, white,
-
and blue cape and he's he's he's
-
Superman and all. Yeah, I I get all
-
that. And that's what he would come out
-
and and u
-
you know, and and there were people in
-
the healing revival that man, they just
-
step up in the pulpit. William Brandham
-
as well as I think there were 70some
-
that I knew of I'd read about that
-
operated in the uh gifts of healings
-
particularly working in miracles and
-
special faith particularly gifts of
-
healings um and they got great results
-
you know but but as a general rule as a
-
general rule God would have people teach
-
and or preach or both and then the
-
healing would take place.
-
So what are we looking for now? God's
-
raised up an army in the days we're
-
living in. We're already here. He
-
changed the world with 120 in the upper
-
room. Think what he could do today with
-
a with the group in this the room
-
tonight. If we just got hold of the fact
-
if we'll teach and preach, he'll do the
-
healing part. I want a shortcut. Well,
-
we all like a shortcut. I I' I'd love to
-
get it working in any way it will. But
-
the way it's going to work is what Jesus
-
said there. So, uh anyway, um let's just
-
take a few minutes to go a little bit
-
different direction here.
-
Uh let's go back to uh Luke the 13th
-
chapter.
-
Luke the 13th chapter
-
and I uh I got the the brilliant idea
-
years ago to start studying through
-
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. And you
-
know some of the gospels have you know
-
if you do parallel you know some of them
-
had the same miracle might you know
-
might you know address it from a little
-
different angle but I just made a
-
decision I'm going to go back through
-
there and see what um
-
I'm going to see what the miracles were
-
like like in Jesus ministry. You know we
-
got I think there's 27 or 28 major
-
miracles in the ministry of Jesus.
-
Healing miracles so to speak. There are
-
other ones, you know, when he multiplied
-
the loaves and fishes and so on, but the
-
healing miracles, I think there's maybe
-
27 or 28, and I spent probably a couple
-
years just
-
studying those miracles. I wanted to
-
know, I mean, I got over to uh uh Mark's
-
gospel, of course, a good place to
-
start. Uh Mark's gospel chapter 1 verse
-
40. Leper came to him said, "Lord, if
-
you will, you can make me clean." Jesus
-
said, "Of course I will. Be thou clean."
-
Okay? and it said uh reached out and put
-
his hand touched him but it said as soon
-
as he spoke the leprosy departed from
-
the guy the man he's cleansed he
-
uh leprosy didn't leave his body when
-
Jesus touched him leprosy left his body
-
when Jesus spoke
-
Mark one you can look it up yourself
-
Mark chapter 1 verse 40 as soon as soon
-
as g Jesus said the man said Lord if you
-
will you can make me clean Jesus said I
-
will one translation he said of course I
-
will and he reached out put forth his
-
hand and touched him and as soon as he
-
had spoken by he said be thou clean and
-
as soon as he had spoken immediately the
-
leprosy departed from him and he's
-
cleansed leprosy didn't go when Jesus
-
touched him leprosy went when Jesus said
-
something he had to clear up the
-
question the man said I know you can I
-
just don't know if you will Jesus said
-
of course I will when he cleared up the
-
question the healing power flow flowed
-
and and the guy got healed of leprosy so
-
anyway I started studying through these
-
and
-
spent a few years going through just
-
over and over and over and over. I
-
wanted to know what Jesus did. I wanted
-
to know how he did it. I wanted to know
-
what it looked like. I wanted to know
-
how he worked with the Holy Ghost.
-
People say, "Well, Jesus got great
-
results because he was the son of God."
-
I like that. But I'll tell you what,
-
that kind of throws the pressure on us
-
because if Jesus got great results
-
because he was the son of God, then
-
where does that leave you and me?
-
You're looking at me funny. If Jesus got
-
great results because he was the son of
-
God, what did he make you and me to be?
-
To as many as believed on him, to them
-
gave he the power to become the sons of
-
God. He made his sons. If it if it only
-
if the healings and miracles only worked
-
for Jesus because he was a son, then you
-
and I ought to be getting miracles every
-
day
-
>> because he p he gave us the word. He
-
gave us the Holy Ghost. We've got the
-
same power. we should be getting the
-
same works that that that Jesus got. We
-
should be getting that. So, um anyway,
-
so I I've spent uh in fact, we've got a
-
somewhere somewhere in our um website,
-
we've got a
-
I think it's called Hear and Be Healed.
-
I think we have 87 87 messages on the
-
subject of healing.
-
Good, excuse me, a good share of those
-
came out of uh studying those subjects.
-
I found a book um on uh basically a a
-
guy from late 1800s, early 1900s and
-
he'd done that. I just I studied through
-
that, spent hours studying through. If
-
we'll go back through and see what Jesus
-
did, find out how he did it, then the
-
church will be getting the same results
-
because he equipped us, he empowered us,
-
he filled us, okay? He called us, and he
-
sent us. So anyway, going back where we
-
at, we're in Luke the 13th chapter.
-
I'm going to just land on this. Well, I
-
we were we've been on this a couple
-
different weeks and it just seems like
-
we keep coming back here. I'm not real
-
sure why, but to come back here. Um, how
-
did how did Jesus get results? Well,
-
again here in in Luke chapter 13:10
-
said, "And he was he" meaning Jesus was
-
what was he doing? Chapter chapter 13
-
verse what? 10. He was doing what? He
-
was healing the sick, raising the dead,
-
casting out devils. No. What was he
-
doing?
-
>> What was he doing?
-
>> What was he doing? Teaching. How How did
-
his ministry work? He went about round
-
about their cities and villages,
-
teaching in their synagogues, preaching
-
the gospel of the kingdom, healing every
-
manner of sickness and every manner of
-
disease among the people. Teach, preach,
-
heal. So, we look at the ministry of
-
Jesus. Not every time. There were times
-
when somebody just got a freebie. You
-
remember back there in John's gospel of
-
what verse 5 I think it is chapter 5
Isaiah 5 chapter mention
-
when he went to uh the pool of Bethesda
-
man been sick 38 years Jesus walked up
-
there knew he'd been a long time in that
-
case walked up to him and said is it
-
your will to be healed he said well he
-
said uh I I I'd like to but I can't I'm
-
too slow somebody always gets to the
-
water ahead of me I'll never be able to
-
get healed Jesus said well get up and
-
walk anyway
-
got up walked up got up rolled up his
-
bed and walked way whole. Jesus
-
disappeared. The guy didn't know who
-
Jesus was. He didn't walk and say, "I'm
-
Jesus the son of God. I've come to
-
heal." No, he just said, "Is it your
-
will to be healed?"
-
John's fifth chapter. Is it your will to
-
be healed? He said, "Well, I I can't.
-
I'm too slow. Somebody always gets there
-
ahead of me." Well, get up and walk
-
anyway.
-
Got up, rolled up his bed, walked away
-
whole. Next day, he sees some of the
-
religious leaders and they said, "What
-
are you what are you doing? You're
-
carrying the your bed on the Sabbath.
-
You can't do that." He said, "I can't
-
help it." But the guy that healed me
-
told me to do it.
-
Well, who told you to do it? I don't
-
know who it was. Some guy told me to get
-
up and walk, so I did. I have no clue
-
who it was. It wasn't Well, he saw
-
Jesus. So, he had this great uncction to
-
get healed in his body. He didn't know
-
who told him to get up and walk. Jesus
-
shows up after that and enlightens him
-
as far as who he's just had the
-
encounter with. And he said, "Go thy
-
way." Isn't it interesting? We read
-
these articles. We read these mira
-
miracles. Isn't it interesting Jesus
-
said there? He said, "Go your way and
-
sin no more, lest the worst thing come
-
upon you." Well, we don't know. I have
-
no idea what that guy's lifestyle was
-
like, but apparently something about his
-
lifestyle was what opened the door for
-
this sickness to get into his life. And
-
Jesus said, "Go thy way." Got him
-
healed.
-
Isn't it interesting? He got him healed
-
before he got him forgiven. Got him
-
healed before he got him enlightened on,
-
you know, go thy way and sin. sin no
-
more lest the worst thing come upon
-
thee. You know again we can learn things
-
from the ministry of Jesus. He just
-
always followed the leading of the Holy
-
Ghost. All right. So
-
so anyway going back through here
-
uh Jesus is teaching verse uh 10 he was
-
teaching in one of the synagogues on the
-
Sabbath. This is the this is the primary
-
method of Jesus ministry. Okay. Well, I
-
don't want to go to so and so's meeting.
-
All I do is teach.
-
Well, go get some of that. Isn't that
-
really what uh Proverbs 4:20 said, "My
-
son, attend to my words. Incline thine
-
ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart
-
from thine eyes. Keep them in the midst
-
of thine heart. For they my words are
-
life unto those that find them health,
-
healing, and medicine to all their
-
flesh." He told us way back there. Okay.
-
Proverbs chapter 4:20,
-
you know, the word of God, keep it going
-
in your ears, keep it going in your
-
eyes, keep it working in your heart.
-
It's life to you. It's health, healing,
-
medicine to
-
>> all your flesh. Like we've said before,
-
it's one pill that'll cure whatever ails
-
you. It's a gospel. But
-
never mind. Now,
-
but verse 10, he was teaching in one of
-
the synagogues on the Sabbath, and
-
behold, there was a woman. I'm going to
-
just hit a few high points and we'll
-
just pick this up at another point
-
another time. And behold, there was a
-
woman that had a spirit of infirmity 18
-
years, was bowed over together, could in
-
no wise lift up herself. That's verse
-
11. There was a woman. Behold, there was
-
a woman. He's teaching in the synagogue.
-
And behold, he's teaching. What's he
-
doing? He's teaching. So if he's
-
teaching, the power of the Lord's
-
present to heal. He's teaching in the
-
synagogue. And behold, there's a woman
-
that has a spirit of infirmity for she's
-
had 18 years. Do you know 18 years is a
-
long time to be sick?
-
>> She's been sick for 18 years. She's been
-
bowed over together with a spirit of
-
infirmity. Okay, that's a that's a a
-
devil that has kept her infirm. I've met
-
people over the years, you meet people
-
every now and then, somebody that just
-
seems like no matter what they get
-
healed of, something immediately comes
-
back right after it. I've seen people,
-
you know, they're just they've they've
-
gotten them uh overcome with a spirit of
-
infirmity. Somebody's got a deaf and
-
dumb spirit that's going to man itself
-
manifest itself that way. Okay. Some
-
have some have an unclean spirit that's
-
going to manifest itself that way. Okay.
-
Somebody that has a what it says right
-
here. Um she's had a spirit of
-
infirmity, then infirmity is going to
-
keep showing up in her body. Well, here
-
it did. And she's been sick for 18
-
years.
-
Okay? Not just sick. She's not been able
-
to stand up for 18 years. Think about
-
that.
-
Think about that. Bowed over together,
-
could in no wise lift up herself for 18
-
years. You've heard me tell before. I
-
think we did a few weeks ago about a man
-
we we saw in the meeting we were at in
-
Munich, Germany.
-
Man came in there. Don't know where he
-
came from. Don't know how he found the
-
meeting. No, we never found anything out
-
about it. Just in the middle of the
-
service. Brother Ed Defrain's
-
ministering. We're on the front row.
-
Pastor Janet and myself, we're on the
-
front row. Brother Ed's ministering.
-
We're at uh John and Mariana Angelina's
-
church for disgobins. We're there in
-
Munich and and all of a sudden this guy
-
comes down the center aisle here and
-
he's bowed over together can in no wise
-
lift up himself. Found out later it
-
wasn't 18 years. He'd been that way 40
-
years
-
came on him when he was a a uh uh in in
-
a prisoner war camp in Siberia during
-
World War II. He was in Hitler's army,
-
was taken captive by the Soviets and put
-
into a prisoner war camp. Was in there
-
hauling wood to the barracks until the
-
end of World War II, which I gather it
-
was probably at that time close to a 30
-
to 40 year time. And when by the time
-
they shut that camp down, when he came
-
out, he'd been carrying wood on his back
-
through the cold winters of Siberia. And
-
by the time they got him out of there,
-
he couldn't stand up straight. He was
-
bowed over together. I've seen what that
-
looks like. This guy's coming down the
-
center aisle. He can't stand up. He's
-
trying to see where he's going, but he's
-
bowed over together and he's just
-
looking up sideways so he can see where
-
to turn. He comes up to the front and
-
I've said it before. I won't go back
-
into it, but he stands there and all of
-
a sudden, all of a sudden, his body
-
starts to straighten up and it gets
-
straighter and straighter and
-
straighter. Ed didn't pray for him,
-
didn't lay hands on him, didn't minister
-
to him. He just said, "All of a sudden,
-
this guy starts straightening up like
-
that." And within a matter of two, three
-
minutes maximum, this guy's just as
-
straight as you and me, standing
-
straight. He's been bowed over together
-
for probably close to 40 years. Now,
-
suddenly, suddenly, he's standing up
-
straight. He turns around, he walks
-
away. Never saw the guy again. Don't
-
know where he came from. Don't know
-
anything about him. But we did find out
-
that he'd been in a prison or war camp
-
in Siberia during World War II. Okay.
-
But but here here's the case here. This
-
woman's been sick for 18 years,
-
bowed over it together, can in no wise
-
lift up herself. All right. She can't
-
stand up. Jesus, what's he doing? He's
-
teaching. I like the fact while he's
-
teaching, he's looking.
-
He's not just wasting time there. While
-
he's teaching people to put faith into
-
him, he's looking to see where it works.
-
Okay, you go back there 14th chapter of
-
uh the book of acts verse 7 Paul and his
-
company were in area of lister I believe
-
it was excuse me and in uh said there
-
they preached the gospel there they
-
preached the gospel and there sat a
-
certain man at Lististra impotent in his
-
feet being a from his mother's
-
womb and never had walked when Paul saw
-
him and perceived he had faith to be
-
healed
-
didn't lay hands hands on him. Didn't
-
cast the devil out of him. Didn't take
-
authority over spirit of infirmity. He
-
just looked down. He'd been preaching
-
the gospel. The guy heard the gospel.
-
Teach, preach, heal. Teach, preach. The
-
guy heard the gospel. Paul perceived the
-
man had faith to be healed. And he said
-
with a loud voice, "Stand up right on
-
thy feet."
-
Didn't raise him up. Didn't pick him up.
-
Didn't pull him up. He just yelled.
-
Scared him up.
-
>> Scared him.
-
>> Stand up right on thy feet. when he did,
-
he leaped and walked and he was
-
perfectly well. Never taken a step in
-
his life, crippled from his mother's
-
womb. Okay. But what somebody took time
-
to teach and preach and when they did
-
that, the guy got it. The guy got it. So
-
anyway,
-
anyway, I'm going to find a place to
-
unhook here and we'll just pick up
-
another time. But if you go back through
-
this guy, uh, this this this woman uh
-
spirit of infirmity to 18 years. Okay.
-
Uh, you know, there there's the devils
-
are real things. People say, "Oh, maybe
-
it's the devil." Well, it doesn't matter
-
if it's a sickness, a disease, an
-
infirmity, or a devil. Doesn't make any
-
difference. One's just as easy to fix as
-
the other one. It's no big deal there.
-
But anyway, here's this woman, spirit of
-
infirmity, 18 years, bowed over
-
together, can in no wise lift up
-
herself. Jesus Jesus saw her and he and
-
he called her to him.
-
Called her to him. Isn't that what it
-
says there?
-
bowed together. Verse 12 says that when
-
Jesus saw her, he called her to him.
-
I wondered about that at one time. I
-
thought, what, you know, why did Jesus I
-
don't know how big the place was, but
-
why did Jesus call her to him? Why
-
didn't he go back to where she was? He's
-
the healthy one. She's the one that's
-
bowed over together for 18 years. Why
-
didn't he go back and deliver healing to
-
her? She's been in the meeting. She's
-
been hearing the word. She's been It's
-
working. He's teaching, preaching, and
-
healing. She's been hearing. But the
-
Bible said he saw her and he called her.
-
Why did he call her to him? Because
-
faith always acts.
-
If it does, if faith does what it can
-
do, it's faith. But if that's all it
-
does, it's not going to do anything.
-
Faith does what it can do and then
-
attempts to do what it cannot do. That's
-
where we sometimes in the church world,
-
we miss it. We we we we try to do what
-
we can do. We we stop there. Jesus
-
called her to him. She didn't say, "I
-
can't come up there. I I I got a back
-
problem. I you come back here and pray."
-
No, she he called her to him and she
-
headed up there.
-
We were in a meeting in uh
-
St. Elmo, Illinois years ago. That's a
-
little town, at least it was then, doing
-
a meeting at Assembly of God Church, St.
-
Elmo, Illinois. And the place is packed.
-
People are coming from all over that
-
area. And um uh I can still remember
-
there was a people were getting healed
-
of all kinds of things all over the
-
auditorium. And right over about
-
twothirds of the way back in this
-
section, here's a lady over there. And
-
uh she came I saw her come in. She came
-
in with with bedroom slippers on. And
-
she moved really slow. You could tell
-
she was in a lot of pain. She came in
-
there and uh power of God came in there
-
and I knew the power of God was on her
-
and she just standing there and I looked
-
over there. I can still see the like you
-
know I don't know what she looked like
-
but I can still see about where this
-
lady was. I looked over there and I said
-
ma'am I said do something
-
do something. She just kind of looked at
-
me and so finally I could I could see
-
her kind of her head coming on coming
-
and next thing you know power of God hit
-
her and she started going up and down.
-
She went, she got instantly totally
-
healed by the power of God.
-
>> It didn't work until she started doing
-
something.
-
>> Why did Jesus have this woman come to
-
him? Because he just put the word into
-
her by teaching. And if she's going to
-
get something from the teaching of the
-
word, she's going to have to do
-
something. And I think that's where we
-
run into problems at times. We want God
-
to do everything. He'll put the word in
-
us, but we're going to have to do
-
something with that word.
-
>> Oh, we could go on and on with that.
-
seen all kinds of things. We've seen a
-
lot of people healed of all kinds of
-
things. But usually usually people are
-
going to have to do something. We were
-
in u
-
I'll finish with this. We were in in
-
liberates Czechos was Czechoslovakia
-
then. It was right after the Berlin Wall
-
came down and and in the the countries
-
the Eastern European countries were
-
opening up and and Pastor Janet and I
-
were over and there was another couple
-
that was with us in this particular
-
meeting and we we went to this meeting.
-
We thought we were going to a church
-
service to teach faith to the
-
Christians. We got there and the the
-
pastor, he says, through an a real weak
-
interpreter.
-
He said, "Uh, do you do you do gospel
-
meetings?" I said, "Well, of course we
-
do gospel meetings." Well, I didn't know
-
he meant gospel meetings. Not just
-
gospel meetings, but gospel meetings.
-
Took us out there. We're out on this
-
platform. It's cold. It's so cold out
-
there. It's really cold and we're out
-
there in this I don't know there's
-
maybe,500.
-
I have no idea how many people are out
-
there. We just I I I I used the
-
interpreter best I could. I said, "Let's
-
go to uh Mark chapter 5. I think it's
Mark 5 chapter mention
-
where we went." And he starts in Genesis
-
going a page at a time. I thought,
-
"Maybe we are really in trouble." I
-
said, "Never mind. Just follow me." And
-
I have no idea what he said. I have no
-
idea where he went. But we just kind of
-
shotguned around through a few
-
scriptures and then prayed a prayer and
-
almost every hand in the place went up.
-
I don't know, maybe 800,000 people. I
-
have no idea. This is right after the
-
Berlin Wall came down. These people
-
hadn't heard any gospel in 50 years.
-
People raised their hands up everywhere.
-
So, so, uh, I thought, "It is so cold
-
here. I'm praying a mass prayer and I'm
-
heading for somewhere that's warm. This
-
is really cold out here." And I said,
-
'We going to just pray for everybody.'
-
And the pastor
-
got the interpreter with enough English
-
said, 'N no, we've advertised individual
-
ministry to everybody tonight. We've
-
told them, you come, we'll pray for
-
everybody in the place. I thought, he's
-
going to freeze us out tonight.
-
But uh anyway, so we did. We prayed for
-
people. But you know the most amazing
-
thing had people coming in there. They'd
-
never heard before. They' never heard
-
teaching, preaching before, but they
-
heard just enough. prophet got on the
-
inside of them and in that meeting and
-
and there were people coming up getting
-
in that there were people with crutches,
-
there were people with canes. There were
-
people with uh everything you could
-
think of and uh you know it was just I I
-
don't know how to describe it. Never had
-
it happen before and never had it happen
-
since. But I just said somebody come up
-
there and some there was a lady up there
-
with she had a cane on. She could barely
-
move one leg and uh and I I grabbed the
-
cane and I I said now walk. I thought I
-
can't believe I just did that. Said,
-
"Now walk in the name of Jesus." The
-
interpreter told her that and she looked
-
at me and and you know, I'm kind of used
-
to people in states going, "Well, I
-
can't. That's why I'm up here."
-
Well, I hollered that out at her and she
-
she believed what I said. Next thing I
-
know, she's got hold and she's grabbed
-
she's got hold of one leg and she's just
-
kicking it for all she's worth. She kept
-
kicking it, kicking it, kicking it. I
-
thought, "Hope she doesn't break
-
something."
-
She kept kicking it. All of all of a
-
sudden, just like that, power of God hit
-
her and she just walked away, grabbed
-
the cane and walked away perfectly,
-
totally whole. But it didn't work until
-
she heard something and then she acted
-
on it.
-
>> So, uh, we've gone enough long enough
-
for tonight. But, but Jesus, why did he
-
call her to him? Because he knew he'd
-
been teaching the word to her. Now, if
-
she'll act on that, believe that, and do
-
something with it, she'll get the
-
results. So, what'd he do? He call He
-
called her to him. said,"Woman, thou art
-
loose from thine infirmity."
-
Okay? Laid hands on her immediately.
-
She's made straight and glorified. It's
-
God. And we could go on from there.
-
We'll we'll pick it up another time. But
-
she gets she gets instantly healed in
-
there. God's in the healing business.
-
Some will be instant. Some will be a
-
progression. Some will take a little
-
time. Some won't. But I'll tell you
-
what, if we just give people enough word
-
to give them something to chew on, if
-
they'll do that, they'll get healed in
-
their bodies.
-
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and
-
forever. Let's all stand to our feet.
-
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank
-
you right now. Uh I just pray over this
-
house right now. We're not going to take
-
time for a healing service tonight, per
-
se,
-
but with the word going forth, the power
-
of the Lord's present to heal.
-
We don't have to wonder about it. We
-
don't have to hope and pray. It's true.
-
Jesus went about teaching, preaching,
-
and healing. And if we'll teach and
-
preach, he'll do the healing part. And
-
so, in the name of Jesus, I thank you.
-
I thank you for touching. I I thank you
-
for your healing virtue flowing through
-
bodies through in this place tonight. I
-
thank you for healing them from the top
-
of their heads to the bottoms of their
-
feet. I thank you, dear father. Joints
-
are being healed now. I thank you for
-
varic varicose veins are being healed. I
-
thank you dear father uh in the uh in
-
the area of the heart respiratory
-
system. I thank you for it in the name
-
of Jesus. I thank you in the nervous
-
system. Father I thank you right now the
-
healing virtue of the Lord Jesus is
-
flowing through this place because the
-
word's been taught and if folks will
-
believe it and get it and act on it,
-
it'll heal them from the top of their
-
heads to the soles of their feet. So we
-
reach out and take hold of it and we
-
say, "It's mine. I got it now. It's
-
mine. I've got it now. I'm not trying to
-
get it. Jesus already got it for me. I'm
-
not trying to get my healing. Jesus
-
already paid for my healing for me. He
-
paid the price.
-
>> So, I thank you for it, dear Father. We
-
take healing in our bodies. I thank you,
-
dear Lord. It's out there. It's out
-
there. It's out there. If we'll just
-
take it. We'll just take it. If we'll
-
just grab hold of it. Say, "It's mine. I
-
got it now. It's mine. I got it now. I'm
-
not trying to get it. Jesus got it for
-
me.
-
Hallelujah.
-
And we thank you for it. We receive it.
-
We grab it by faith. We call it done in
-
Jesus name. Hallelujah. I thank you for
-
it, dear father. And I pray for every
-
one of us that we'll get hold of that.
-
We'll get hold of that. We'll get hold
-
of that
-
really back there. What you you were
-
trying to get across to your people back
-
there in
-
John's gospel. If we'll get hold of
-
that, get hold of the power of the Lord.
-
This present to heal. Luke's gospel
-
fifth chapter, sixth chapter. Power of
-
the Lord, present to heal. If we'll just
-
teach and preach until it starts
-
working, and then we'll grab hold of it.
-
We can get it working in us. We can get
-
it working in everybody around us. We do
-
our part. You're always ready and
-
willing and able to do yours. So we we
-
thank you for it in Jesus name, Father.
-
Hallelujah. We thank you. We thank you.
-
We thank you Jesus name. Glory to God.
-
Well, let's lift our hands and give him
-
thanks.
-
