  1. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Go ahead and

  2. take a seat. Glory to God.

  3. Good to see y'all this morning. We're

  4. glad you chose to be in the house of the

  5. Lord. As my daddy used to say, I'd

  6. rather be in the house of the Lord than

  7. the best hospital in town. Can anybody

  8. say amen to that?

  9. So, um I will begin by letting you know

  10. uh Pastor Mark flew out Wednesday

  11. morning. If you were here Wednesday

  12. night, you you know this, but he flew

  13. out Wednesday morning to um

  14. St. Louis and he picked up a car and

  15. drove a couple hours to Effingham,

  16. Illinois. He's been part of a camp

  17. meeting in Effingham along with Joey

  18. Roberts and his dad, Ross, and some

  19. other pastors and ministers since uh

  20. Thursday Thursday, actually. So, uh it

  21. ended he he did four sessions, four

  22. services, and it ended yesterday at

  23. noon. So, he called me and said, "I'm

  24. headed back to St. Louis to catch my

  25. flight, and then I'll be home. I should

  26. be home by about 9:20." I said, "Great.

  27. Just keep me posted."

  28. Well,

  29. the joys of travel.

  30. People have no idea.

  31. So, he called me from St. Louis, and he

  32. said, "Well, we're not boarding yet." It

  33. passed his departure time. Well, we're

  34. still not boarding. They don't know when

  35. we're going to board because there's

  36. major

  37. weather in Dallas.

  38. Well, anyone that goes anywhere knows

  39. the whole world goes through Dallas to

  40. get anywhere.

  41. And so, um

  42. so he got delayed uh about 3 hours,

  43. still sitting at his gate.

  44. Finally called me and he said, "Well, um

  45. they're getting ready to put us

  46. They started boarding like two or three

  47. times, and they'd say, 'Nope, go back

  48. and sit down. We're We're The weather's

  49. still bad.'"

  50. So, they even shut the Dallas airport

  51. down a couple times last night, which

  52. you can only imagine

  53. how many planes were backed up.

  54. So, um finally, he texted me and he

  55. says, "Well, we're on the runway in St.

  56. Louis, and so this is progress. We're on

  57. the plane, and we're on the we're ready

  58. to Well, we're on Yeah, ready to take

  59. off. So, I'm not sure. I think they sat

  60. there for another hour.

  61. So, he said, "I will stay in touch with

  62. you once I get to Dallas." And I said,

  63. "Okay, that's great." So,

  64. I don't even know. He He got to Dallas.

  65. I'm not even sure what time he got to

  66. Dallas.

  67. Um I went to bed around 10:00. Got up

  68. once to check, and I had a text from

  69. him, and all it said was, "I'll probably

  70. be home around 3:00."

  71. I thought, "3:00?"

  72. Well, I Yeah. So, I went back to bed.

  73. So, I figured, because he said, "I'll

  74. come in, and I'll go sleep in the extra

  75. bedroom upstairs so I don't wake you

  76. up." I said, "Well, you don't have to do

  77. that." He said, "Yeah, I'm going to do

  78. that." I said, "Okay, whatever." So,

  79. when I got up at 6:00, I figured he was

  80. upstairs in the bedroom.

  81. Asleep.

  82. I just assumed. I mean, I didn't have

  83. any other text, and so I'm thinking,

  84. "Well, he's got to be here upstairs in

  85. the bedroom asleep."

  86. So, I'm being real quiet, you know, and

  87. getting ready, and I go back and I pick

  88. up my phone. He said, "Well, just landed

  89. in Tulsa 6:30

  90. this morning."

  91. I said, so I picked up my phone, I

  92. called him. I said, "What? I thought you

  93. were asleep upstairs."

  94. He said, "No, I got to Dallas." And he

  95. said,

  96. "Everything was delayed." I mean, like

  97. hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and

  98. hundreds. It's your greatest nightmare

  99. for travel.

  100. To get stuck in Dallas when there's

  101. weather. He said the the weather just

  102. kept coming. So, um yeah, they put him

  103. that he they didn't even get him on that

  104. flight that was supposed to arrive at

  105. 3:00. He didn't get on a flight until

  106. 5:00 something. But, um so, he's home.

  107. He walked in uh about 7:00. And um

  108. he never valet parks, either. Let me

  109. just tell you, he never valet parks,

  110. ever.

  111. Greg usually takes him to the airport,

  112. or I'll take him to the airport. And on

  113. this particular trip, we sensed he just

  114. needed a valet.

  115. Thank God. And when he left on

  116. Wednesday, he said, "I'll be back, you

  117. know, Saturday, so I'll plan to preach

  118. on Sunday." I said, "That's great." On

  119. Thursday, I started getting a scratch.

  120. Like, you better be ready.

  121. And I thought, "No, I don't have to get

  122. ready. He's preaching. He's coming home

  123. Saturday night. He said he'll preach."

  124. It got stronger and stronger.

  125. And I thought, "Okay, mom, I know I know

  126. the difference in

  127. not hearing something and hearing

  128. something." And I thought, "You know,

  129. just to be on the safe side, I'm going

  130. to get ready."

  131. So, I got ready Thursday, Friday, and

  132. Saturday. And I woke up this morning and

  133. when I realized he wasn't here, I went,

  134. "Yes! Thank you, Holy Ghost. He's our

  135. helper. He helps us in every situation

  136. and he shows us things to come." I just

  137. figured I had a gut feeling something

  138. was going to happen and he was not going

  139. to get home when he thought he was going

  140. to get home. So, he walks in this

  141. morning at 7:00. He says, "I'm going to

  142. go get cleaned up and go to church." I

  143. said, "No, you're not.

  144. No, you're not. No. You go upstairs or

  145. you go to our room and you can sleep for

  146. the next five or six hours." I said, he

  147. said, "I feel like I've been on an

  148. overseas trip." If you've never been on

  149. an overseas trip, you know the feeling.

  150. He

  151. He went

  152. 20-something hours without sleep. So,

  153. pastor is home. I hope he's not

  154. watching. I hope he's sleeping, but you

  155. never know. He does He's not very

  156. obedient when it comes to things like

  157. that.

  158. >> [gasps]

  159. >> So, but I'm just thankful because I had

  160. a knowing on the inside, "You better be

  161. ready." So, I'm ready.

  162. So, are you ready to receive?

  163. So, I um I got this gift card.

  164. It's a Visa gift card.

  165. Has $100 on it.

  166. Has anyone ever gotten one of these as a

  167. gift?

  168. Has anyone never gotten one as a gift?

  169. Raise your hands if you've never gotten

  170. a gift card.

  171. It's a gift card. It's a Visa gift card

  172. is what it is. Maybe you don't even know

  173. what this is.

  174. It's a Visa gift card.

  175. So, um

  176. So, I stopped and picked this up because

  177. I kept getting

  178. um

  179. about a gift cards, a gift card.

  180. And if you anyone's ever gotten it,

  181. which I got one, um you know, I've I've

  182. gotten them in the past, but the first

  183. one I ever got, I remember I took it to

  184. the store

  185. and I found some items that added up to

  186. what I thought it would what was on the

  187. card. I took it to the counter and um I

  188. opened it up cuz the card is inside. I

  189. opened it up and I tried scanning it. I

  190. tried put it in in with the little deal

  191. and it wasn't working. I thought, "What

  192. is wrong with this card? It's supposed

  193. to have 100 bucks on it." And couldn't

  194. get it to work. So, then the lady behind

  195. the counter, she says, "Do you need

  196. help?" I said, "Yeah, I have this gift

  197. card, but I can't get it to work." She

  198. says, "Well, let me see it." So, she

  199. takes it and she does whatever she does

  200. and she goes, "Well," she looks at me,

  201. she says, "Well, have you activated it?"

  202. And I said, "Do what?"

  203. She says, "Have you activated the card?"

  204. And I said,

  205. "No. And how do you do that?"

  206. She said, "You look on the back." That

  207. Oh, I hate directions.

  208. She said, "Look on the back and it says

  209. clearly says

  210. it's in little tiny print. Oh, card

  211. not valid until purchased and activated.

  212. And I said, "So, how do I activate it?"

  213. She says, "Go home with your card.

  214. Call the 1-800 number that's on the back

  215. and then you have to type in a PIN

  216. number and that will activate it." I

  217. wanted to go, "Can you do it for me?"

  218. But, she didn't volunteer. So, I took it

  219. home.

  220. Left all my stuff that I was going to

  221. get, went home, and I activated my card.

  222. And then, I could access the money that

  223. was on it. But, not And I There was 100

  224. bucks on that card. But, I could not

  225. access any amount of money that was on

  226. my gift card until it was activated.

  227. We have been given

  228. a free gift card

  229. from the head of the church.

  230. And on that gift card is salvation.

  231. It's a gift card full full of the

  232. blessings of God that are contained in

  233. that word salvation.

  234. Jesus paid for it

  235. on the cross.

  236. He paid in full for our free gift card,

  237. but it's free for us.

  238. Free for us.

  239. But, it has to be activated.

  240. So, I uh

  241. was thinking about this free gift card

  242. of salvation.

  243. And how it's full of blessings full of

  244. blessings all In fact, pastor used to

  245. preach this a lot and make this he made

  246. this uh he found he ran across a

  247. definition of salvation years ago.

  248. And uh this is what he found. Salvation

  249. is the sum total of all the blessings

  250. bestowed on man by God in Christ through

  251. the Holy Spirit.

  252. I'll say that again. Is that not good?

  253. Salvation is not just, you know, oh,

  254. well, I'm saved. But, what does that

  255. mean?

  256. It's the sum total of all God's

  257. blessings bestowed on man by God in

  258. Christ through the Holy Spirit.

  259. All those blessings have been made

  260. available on a free gift card

  261. called salvation.

  262. What are some of those blessings? Well,

  263. we've got eternal life. John 3:16 says

    John 3:16

  264. whoever believes in him shall not perish

  265. but have eternal life. We've got

  266. forgiveness of sins. John 1:9 says if we

    John 1:9

  267. confess our sins, he's faithful and just

  268. to forgive us our sins. That's a

  269. blessing that's on that card of

  270. salvation. Divine healing. 1 Peter 2:24,

    1 Peter 2:24

  271. if we confess our sins, he's faithful

  272. and just to forgive us our sins and

  273. cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  274. That's a blessing. Divine healing. By

  275. Jesus' stripes we were healed. That's a

  276. blessing. God's presence. He says in

  277. Hebrews, I will never leave you or

  278. forsake you. That's a blessing on our

  279. gift card called salvation. Wisdom.

  280. He said God gives wisdom generously to

  281. those who ask. It's on our gift card,

  282. our salvation gift card. Strength. He

  283. said they that wait upon the Lord shall

  284. renew their strength. They shall mount

  285. up with the wings as eagles. They shall

  286. run and not be weary. They shall walk

  287. and not faint. That's on our gift card

  288. called salvation.

  289. God's presence. Oops, did that one.

  290. Direction. For those who trust him,

  291. trust in the Lord with all your heart

  292. and he will direct your paths. Direction

  293. is part of the blessings on your gift

  294. card.

  295. Peace. Jesus said peace I leave with

  296. you. My peace I give unto you.

  297. Peace belongs to us. It's part of the

  298. blessing of salvation.

  299. Holy Spirit.

  300. In Acts,

  301. he said I'm giving you

  302. equipping you with power,

  303. but he will be a comforter. He'll be

  304. your teacher.

  305. He'll be your helper.

  306. He's given us a helper. The Holy Spirit

  307. is our helper. It's part of salvation

  308. that's been given to us freely on a gift

  309. card.

  310. But how do we activate

  311. and get access

  312. to

  313. the blessings on the gift card?

  314. We don't do it by calling 1-800-Heaven,

  315. wish you could sometimes, or typing in a

  316. PIN number. Two steps.

  317. The 1-800 and a PIN number, but that's

  318. not how we access the blessings of

  319. salvation. Romans 10:9 says if we

    Romans 10:9

  320. confess with our mouth

  321. believe in our heart that God raised him

  322. from the dead, we will be saved. We

  323. access those blessings. We activate our

  324. access. Again,

  325. that $100 on that gift card, it was on

  326. there.

  327. But I couldn't act I couldn't access

  328. that money until it was activated. We

  329. activate our access to the blessings of

  330. God through what we believe in our heart

  331. and say with our mouth.

  332. Jesus even taught in in teaching his

  333. disciples about the power of faith. In

  334. Mark 11, he said, "Have faith in God."

  335. He says, "For verily I say unto you,

  336. whosoever says to this mountain, 'Be

  337. removed and be cast into the sea,' and

  338. not doubt in his heart, but believes

  339. that those things which he says shall

  340. come to pass, he shall have whatever he

  341. says."

  342. Again, we see access

  343. access to our free gift of salvation by

  344. believing in our heart and saying with

  345. our mouth. But did you notice that Jesus

  346. put greater emphasis on the saying part

  347. than he did on the believing part? I

  348. would think just if you were to ask me,

  349. "Well, yeah, most I mean, he's a he's

  350. cares what we believe. We have to

  351. believe." Yes, we have to believe, but

  352. that's only one step

  353. in the activation process. The other

  354. step is to say it with our mouth. It's

  355. easy to do the first step. You know, I

  356. type can type in that 1-800 number, but

  357. if I don't type in the PIN number, I am

  358. not going to have access to what's on my

  359. gift card.

  360. It's not just a matter of what we

  361. believe, it's a matter of what we

  362. believe and what we are saying. So, I

  363. when we sang this morning, I speak to I

  364. speak Jesus. If they had no idea where

  365. the direction I was going,

  366. I didn't tell anyone, but I thought,

  367. yes, Holy Ghost, you're trying to get

  368. something across to us. What are we

  369. saying?

  370. What are we saying when nobody's around

  371. or when everybody's around? What's

  372. coming out of our mouth? Because Jesus

  373. didn't say we would have what we

  374. believe.

  375. Well,

  376. religious people can get really

  377. disturbed by that.

  378. I'm sorry. He said,

  379. it's not what you believe, it's what you

  380. say. It's the believing and the saying.

  381. One step is not going to do it. You need

  382. believing in your heart and saying with

  383. your mouth.

  384. I was born again when I was four.

  385. Walked with God my whole life, but it

  386. wasn't until I was 18 years old

  387. did I hear any teaching on the

  388. importance

  389. of

  390. what we say

  391. and how what we say does matter.

  392. And I started paying attention to what

  393. was coming out of my mouth.

  394. Obviously, I had to make some changes

  395. because I realized, oh my lands, I'm not

  396. I'm disagreeing with what God is saying

  397. about me.

  398. So, I did. I started paying attention

  399. and you know, all through the years, I

  400. have endeavored to pay attention

  401. to what comes out of my mouth.

  402. Pay attention to what's coming out of

  403. your mouth.

  404. Don't just open your mouth and let her

  405. fly. Pay attention to what is you are

  406. saying. Pay attention to what's coming

  407. out of your mouth.

  408. And realize that if there's an area, I

  409. think one reason Jesus said believing

  410. once saying it twice or three times

  411. because he knew that there's an area

  412. that we're going to get lax in.

  413. It's not the believing.

  414. But it's the believing and it's the what

  415. comes out of our mouth.

  416. What comes out of our mouth. So, a few

  417. weeks ago

  418. I was walking through the house

  419. and um this phrase just rose up in my

  420. heart.

  421. And I thought, "Okay, I'm going to write

  422. that down because that'll make a good

  423. sermon sometime."

  424. So, when I knew I was supposed to

  425. prepare it's like now's the time.

  426. The phrase I heard on the inside was if

  427. we don't control our tongue

  428. our tongue will control us.

  429. If we don't If we don't control our

  430. tongue

  431. our our tongue

  432. will control us.

  433. >> [clears throat]

  434. >> So, I went to the book of James because

  435. I know that James did a lot of teaching

  436. in chapter 3 on the tongue and I began

  437. to read with just verse one and and he

  438. uses the example of how a bit in a

  439. horse's mouth can control a a horse. I

  440. don't know anything about horses. I

  441. think I've only been on a horse one

  442. time.

  443. One time and that was enough for me.

  444. So, how many of y'all are horse riders?

  445. You're you love to ride horseback. Okay,

  446. then you you know is that true that the

  447. bit in their tongue in their mouth can

  448. help

  449. guide them, control them. And so um the

  450. flip side of that is if there's not a

  451. bit in their mouth, they're going to be

  452. out of control.

  453. James, this is in the Bible in the book

  454. of James chapter 3. Look it up. Then he

    James 3 chapter mention

  455. also uses the example of how huge ship

  456. can be turned

  457. by a very small rudder.

  458. Just think about that. A huge ship

  459. huge ship, but there's only a little

  460. rudder. But it will when operated, when

  461. guided by the captain, it will turn the

  462. whole ship.

  463. And then he refers to the tongue

  464. as a very small part of the body. Stop

  465. and think about it. This tongue

  466. is not very big.

  467. I mean, it's not as big as your hand.

  468. It's not as big as your neck. You got

  469. this tongue.

  470. You know, I've never been able to roll

  471. my tongue.

  472. Some people can I've heard it's genetic.

  473. I don't know.

  474. I don't know. I don't even know why I

  475. said that.

  476. >> [laughter]

  477. >> These thoughts come.

  478. >> [gasps]

  479. [sighs]

  480. >> Anyway, the tongue, it's not very I

  481. can't even stick it out very far.

  482. Okay, moving right along. I'm talking

  483. James was talking about the tongue. The

  484. tongue. And he said, this very small

  485. part

  486. in your mouth called the tongue. He

  487. said, if it's if it's not contained, it

  488. can set a large forest on fire with a

  489. little flame, likening the tongue to

  490. that little flame.

  491. In other words, our tongue

  492. can turn a peaceful situation

  493. into chaos

  494. in a moment. It can set the whole world

  495. on fire just from reckless careless

  496. words that start coming out that our

  497. tongue is uttering.

  498. But James goes on to say,

  499. he says, with our tongue, we bless our

  500. God.

  501. With the same tongue, we curse the very

  502. men and women he made in his image.

  503. Curses and blessings out of the same

  504. mouth, my friends, this can't go on.

  505. James said that.

  506. This problem with the tongue isn't just

  507. a problem that was around during James'

  508. day, but if you look at throughout

  509. history look in the look throughout the

  510. Bible, peoples

  511. had trouble with their tongues.

  512. That trouble has been going on since the

  513. beginning.

  514. Look at Adam and Eve.

  515. Eve had a conversation with the Satan

  516. himself in the form of a certain a

  517. serpent and Satan lied to her and then

  518. she went and repeated what he said to

  519. her, the lie he told her, she went and

  520. told Adam.

  521. Caused Adam to sin. And that sin

  522. separate brought separation from God,

  523. but it all began with a conversation.

  524. With words. Words.

  525. The Israelites, think about the

  526. Israelites. They were held in bondage in

  527. Egypt it says for 400

  528. years. God spoke to Moses and he said,

  529. "Go." The Israelites have always been

  530. God's people.

  531. He told Moses, "This is This is in Bible

  532. days." He says, "Go deliver my people.

  533. Go get my people out." So, through a

  534. series of supernatural events, Moses

  535. went in, brought the children of Israel

  536. out and their destination was the

  537. promised land, but they had to go

  538. through the wilderness to get to the

  539. promised land, but they knew he knew

  540. where they were going.

  541. But they got

  542. the Israelites got gripy.

  543. And they started complaining. They were

  544. complaining about the lack of water.

  545. They were complaining about this manna

  546. that they were being fed twice a day,

  547. morning and night, from heaven. They

  548. didn't like it. They wanted something

  549. different. They were bored and tired of

  550. eating the same thing every day.

  551. Are you kidding me?

  552. They've supernaturally been led out into

  553. out of bondage into freedom and they're

  554. complaining about the manna?

  555. But they didn't stop there. Once you

  556. start complaining about everything

  557. it just overflows.

  558. They began complaining then

  559. excuse me. [clears throat]

  560. They began complaining about their

  561. leadership.

  562. They began complaining about Moses

  563. and Aaron.

  564. I mean, why not? They've been

  565. complaining about everything else. But

  566. because of their griping,

  567. they never entered the promised land.

  568. Their tongue

  569. robbed them of God's plan for their

  570. lives.

  571. That's heavy duty.

  572. Their tongue. So, then the story

  573. continues and it talks about how when

  574. they couldn't find water and they were

  575. griping cuz they didn't have anything to

  576. drink, Moses went before God and he

  577. said, "God, we need a miracle. The

  578. people must have water." So, God spoke

  579. to Moses and he said,

  580. "See that rock?

  581. Speak to it.

  582. Speak to that rock and I'll cause water

  583. to come forth."

  584. And so, Moses was very angry with the

  585. people. He was done with their

  586. complaining. He was tired of hearing

  587. murmurs and murmurs and more murmurs. He

  588. was tired of it. And it says, "In his

  589. angry anger" He was angry at the people.

  590. He lost his temper.

  591. Moses.

  592. Moses. Remember, these people we're

  593. talking about were human beings.

  594. They're no different than you and me.

  595. They experienced real life situations

  596. and they responded in real life ways

  597. that some of us

  598. I'm sure have never lost our temper.

  599. Moses lost his temper

  600. and called them rebels.

  601. And then, because he was so angry,

  602. instead of doing what God said that

  603. would have opened the door, he instead

  604. of speaking to the rock, he took his

  605. staff and he struck the rock twice.

  606. And you know, I was uh

  607. I was reading about that last night and

  608. I thought, "Did the water still come

  609. out?

  610. This was all about water, supposedly.

  611. And it said, yes, that God still brought

  612. water out of the rock in spite of Moses'

  613. disobedience and his anger and what he

  614. did in in not speaking to it, but

  615. striking it. God had mercy on the

  616. people, and he still brought water. I

  617. thought, that's our God.

  618. His goodness, his mercy lasts forever.

  619. But, you know what?

  620. Later in that chapter, it says he was

  621. unable to enter into the promised land

  622. because of his disobedience.

  623. When God tells us to do something, we

  624. better not interpret it our way,

  625. but we need to do it exactly how he

  626. says. Then you got the story of Peter.

  627. Peter boldly said, I will always be

  628. faithful to you, Jesus, even if all the

  629. others fall away. Jesus said, before the

  630. rooster crows three times, you will deny

  631. me.

  632. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Shortly after

  633. that, that's exactly what happened. In

  634. three separate situations, Peter denied

  635. knowing Jesus, and he betrayed Jesus

  636. through his words.

  637. Through his words.

  638. Then you come over to the New Testament,

  639. and we read about Ananias and Sapphira.

  640. Ananias and Sapphira were part of the

  641. early church. Uh the apostles uh were

  642. overseeing the the church, and the

  643. believers had made a decision to sell

  644. something that they had, to bring it in

  645. so that it could be gathered and they

  646. could have to give to the poor.

  647. So, Ananias and Sapphira Sapphira

  648. came, and they said something that was

  649. not true.

  650. They lied about the amount of money that

  651. they received from the sale of their

  652. property.

  653. They lied.

  654. And it says that Peter said to Ananias,

  655. you have not lied to men,

  656. but to God."

  657. And then we all know the rest of the

  658. story.

  659. Ananias and Sapphira dropped dead

  660. on the spot

  661. for lying

  662. to God.

  663. It wasn't the fact that they didn't they

  664. held back some of the money. It was the

  665. fact that they said that's all that we

  666. received. They lied about it to God.

  667. God does not condone lying.

  668. Lying is words being uttered that are

  669. untrue.

  670. Again,

  671. what's coming out of your mouth? What's

  672. coming out of your mouth? In fact,

  673. Proverbs chapter 6 says, "There are six

    Proverbs 6 chapter mention

  674. things the Lord hates. No, seven things

  675. he detests. He hates and detests, number

  676. one, haughty eyes or pride, arrogance,

  677. looking down on others. He hates a lying

  678. tongue." That's number two.

  679. He This is in Proverbs 6. You can find

  680. it. "A lying tongue," which is speaking

  681. falsehood and deception.

  682. Number three, he hates hands that shed

  683. innocent blood,

  684. violence against innocent people.

  685. Number four, he hates a heart that

  686. devises wicked schemes, planning evil or

  687. harmful actions. Number five, he hates

  688. feet that are quick to rush into evil,

  689. that you get excited and eager to do

  690. wrong.

  691. He hates it.

  692. Number six, he hates a false witness who

  693. pours out lies, giving honest testimony

  694. or spreading false accusations. He hates

  695. that.

  696. And number seven,

  697. a person who stirs up conflict, creating

  698. division, strife, and discord among

  699. people.

  700. Notice three out of the seven, three out

  701. of the seven,

  702. three out of the seven involve the words

  703. of our mouth.

  704. A lying tongue,

  705. a false witness who tells lies,

  706. and stirring up strife

  707. through our words.

  708. Awfully quiet in this Presbyterian

  709. church.

  710. I could at least worth many. Is many in

  711. here?

  712. Many, I'm not hearing you.

  713. I need many.

  714. We are talking about I know this isn't a

  715. subject that makes you run around

  716. the room.

  717. But this is a subject that will cause

  718. you to live long.

  719. It's a subject that will cause you to be

  720. able to access

  721. access, activate your salvation in your

  722. life. Well, I don't know why this isn't

  723. working. What are you saying? Probably I

  724. don't know why this isn't working.

  725. You know, we say things and we don't

  726. even realize what we're saying. That's

  727. what I'm saying. We have to pay

  728. attention to what's coming out of my

  729. mouth. Why don't I ever get healed?

  730. Excuse me.

  731. Listen to what you're saying.

  732. What are you saying out of your mouth?

  733. Because when it comes out of your mouth,

  734. you are activating, but you're

  735. activating the wrong thing.

  736. Proverbs 18:21 it says, "Death and life

    Proverbs 18:21

  737. are in the power of the tongue.

  738. And those who love it will eat its

  739. fruit."

  740. I've kind of always wondered

  741. I mean, I kind of knew what that meant.

  742. Eat love it those who love it will eat

  743. its own fruit. But I started doing kind

  744. of a study on that verse. And this is

  745. what the Good News Translation says,

  746. "What you say

  747. can preserve life

  748. or destroy it.

  749. So, you must accept the consequences

  750. of your words.

  751. Our words have consequences.

  752. They don't just blurt out there and then

  753. disappear to the air. No.

  754. Our words are powerful. They're either

  755. going to create life or they're going to

  756. create death.

  757. Death and life are in the power of the

  758. tongue. Our words have power. Your words

  759. have power. They can either bring peace

  760. or they can cause pain.

  761. And the real challenge is that once

  762. those words are out, they cannot be

  763. retracted.

  764. Have you ever just blurted something out

  765. and wish oh, I wish I hadn't said that.

  766. All of us have done that.

  767. All of us have done that. But I'm

  768. telling you what, once those words are

  769. out there, so often we're like, "Oh."

  770. And we later regret

  771. what we said.

  772. It may make you feel better for a

  773. second,

  774. but in the long run, we are going to

  775. have to accept the consequences

  776. of our words.

  777. Death and life are in the power

  778. of our tongue.

  779. Romans Psalms 34:12 says, "Does anyone"

    Psalms 34:12

  780. This is the New Living Translation.

  781. "Does anyone

  782. want to live a long life and a

  783. prosperous life?"

  784. I'll ask you. Does anyone want to live a

  785. long live a long and prosperous life?

  786. I do.

  787. And he tells us the key. He said, "Then

  788. then

  789. keep your tongue

  790. from speaking evil

  791. and your lips from telling lies."

  792. Isn't that amazing? It's in the word of

  793. God. Look it up yourself.

  794. But that when he says, "Keep your

  795. tongue," there's an understood subject.

  796. You keep your tongue.

  797. It's not up to me to keep your tongue.

  798. It's not up to your spouse to keep your

  799. tongue. It's up to you to keep your

  800. tongue from speaking evil and your lips

  801. from telling lies. Turn away from evil

  802. and do good. Search for peace and work

  803. to maintain it. Each of us has to do

  804. this for ourselves.

  805. It's a choice. We choose whether to

  806. control our tongue or to let our tongue

  807. control us.

  808. And sometimes

  809. most of the time it's work to maintain

  810. peace.

  811. But the result is living a life that's

  812. long

  813. and prosperous.

  814. Solomon, who wrote the book of Proverbs,

  815. is known as the wisest man

  816. who ever lived on Earth. How would you

  817. like that reputation?

  818. So, if that's true, which it is true,

  819. then it would behoove us

  820. to read things that he's written. He

  821. wrote the book of Proverbs. And when you

  822. start looking at the book of Proverbs,

  823. he talked a lot

  824. about our tongue

  825. and the words of our mouth

  826. because it's so important that we

  827. control our tongue or our tongue will

  828. control us.

  829. Proverbs 13:3, he says, "Those who

    Proverbs 13:3

  830. control their tongue

  831. will have a long life. Opening your

  832. mouth can ruin everything."

  833. Ouch.

  834. Proverbs 15:1, "A soft answer turns away

    Proverbs 15:1

  835. wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."

  836. Meaning

  837. it's important that we know when to

  838. speak and when not to speak and how to

  839. speak.

  840. If we answer, and even if our answer

  841. isn't necessarily harsh,

  842. if it's if it's it's how we respond,

  843. when, when not, and how. And if we

  844. respond in the wrong way to an angry

  845. person, it is not going to de-escalate

  846. the situation. It's going to compound it

  847. and make it worse. And that's what he

  848. says right here, "A soft answer turns

  849. away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up

  850. anger."

  851. Proverbs 21:23 says my Solomon says,

    Proverbs 21:23

  852. "Watch your tongue

  853. and keep your mouth shut."

  854. Can't get much blunter than that. And

  855. you will stay out of trouble. Ever known

  856. anyone that just seems to live in

  857. trouble?

  858. Everything they do, they find themselves

  859. in trouble.

  860. Tells us to watch our tongue

  861. and keep our mouth shut.

  862. This is coming from the wisest man that

  863. ever lived, I remind you.

  864. Sometimes

  865. we need to bite our

  866. tongue.

  867. He says, "Watch your tongue and keep

  868. your mouth shut." You cannot talk

  869. without your mouth being open. So, when

  870. he says, "Shut your mouth,"

  871. my mom had never told me to shut my

  872. mouth, but she did tell me to bite my

  873. tongue

  874. many times. And it was Anybody else's

  875. mom ever tell you to shut bite your not

  876. don't bite your tongue? Have you ever

  877. heard that expression?

  878. Okay.

  879. That doesn't mean it literally.

  880. Don't bite your tongue.

  881. But if you do bite your tongue, you can

  882. always believe God for healing.

  883. Do whatever necessary.

  884. Pray for healing later.

  885. Proverbs 10:19 in the New The New Living

    Proverbs 10:19

  886. says, "Too much talk

  887. leads

  888. to sin.

  889. Be sensible and keep your mouth closed."

  890. many times do the scriptures tell us

  891. keep your mouth closed? Keep your mouth

  892. closed because I think he knew Solomon

  893. knew that if we open our mouth, it's

  894. only going to make matters worse.

  895. Times There's a time to speak and

  896. there's a time not to speak.

  897. So, when we're keeping our mouth closed,

  898. what are we doing? We are controlling

  899. our tongue.

  900. Proverbs 6:2 says, "We are snared by the

    Proverbs 6:2

  901. words of our mouth."

  902. The enemy sets traps for us.

  903. And if we aren't paying attention

  904. to what's coming out of our mouth, we

  905. can get caught in those traps through

  906. our words.

  907. >> Amen.

  908. Careful.

  909. Watching what you say. Proverbs 30 verse

    Proverbs 30:32

  910. 32

  911. says, "If you have been foolish and

  912. exalting yourself,

  913. or if you have devised evil,

  914. put your hand on your

  915. mouth."

  916. Don't let it come out of your mouth.

  917. It's basically what he's saying. Don't

  918. let it come out of your mouth because

  919. once that those words come out of your

  920. mouth, they take a life of their own.

  921. And they start destroying

  922. and hurting and causing pain. So, what

  923. happened?

  924. Get it under control.

  925. Basically, get it under control before

  926. it controls you.

  927. Jesus even taught about this. He said

  928. that our words our words matter. Matthew

    Matthew 12:37

  929. 12:37, words, you will be declared

  930. innocent or by your words, you will be

  931. declared guilty."

  932. He's listening to our words. He's

  933. listening to our words. Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 30:19

  934. 30:19

  935. says, "I have set before you life and

  936. death, blessing and cursing.

  937. So, right before us, we've got we've got

  938. two choices here.

  939. Life, death, blessing, cursing. And then

  940. he goes on and he tells us what to

  941. choose. It's not a hard decision. We

  942. don't even have to make the decision.

  943. Oh, what do I choose? Life or death?

  944. Blessing or cursing? He says, "Choose

  945. life." And how do we choose? We choose

  946. with the words of our mouth. Are you

  947. choosing life? Are you choosing

  948. blessing? Every day we encounter

  949. situations that we have to make a

  950. choice. Every day.

  951. Every day. You either get to choose life

  952. or death, blessing or cursing. What are

  953. we choosing?

  954. The psalmist David made that choice by

  955. taking control of his tongue and using

  956. it

  957. to give praise to God instead of griping

  958. and complaining.

  959. You look at Psalms 66, David said, "I

  960. cried to him with my mouth

  961. and high praise was on my tongue."

  962. Psalms 119, he said, "My tongue will

  963. sing of your word

  964. for all your commandments are

  965. righteousness."

  966. Psalm 35:28 said, "Then my tongue

    Psalms 35:28

  967. shall tell of your righteousness

  968. and of your praise all the day long."

  969. If our tongue is giving him praise all

  970. day long,

  971. that doesn't leave time

  972. for it to get out of control.

  973. You know, Brother Hagin, we we were

  974. blessed to spend quite a time bit of

  975. time with him and he didn't talk a lot.

  976. He was very quiet.

  977. And um but when he did,

  978. you listened.

  979. But oftentimes, just driving in the car,

  980. Mom and I would be in the backseat, Dad

  981. Hagin and my husband would be driving

  982. and and you'd hear Brother Hagin say,

  983. "Praise the Lord.

  984. Praise the Lord.

  985. Love you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus."

  986. Constantly.

  987. That's what you heard coming out of his

  988. mouth. Even when nothing was being said,

  989. no conversation was going on, under his

  990. breath, with his tongue, he was giving

  991. praise

  992. to God.

  993. May we learn by what the scriptures say

  994. to take our tongue, get it under

  995. control, otherwise, it is going to try

  996. to control us and that is not a great

  997. and a good ending.

  998. We have to take control

  999. of the way

  1000. we're talking,

1001. take control of the words that are

1002. coming out of our mouth, and instead of

1003. our tongue taking control of us, we'll

1004. be able to maintain control of it. And

  1005. we can activate

  1006. our access.

1007. We're talking about activating the

1008. blessings of God. We can activate our

  1009. blessings

1010. by believing in our heart

1011. and saying with our mouth,

1012. and then enjoy the blessings that's on

  1013. this free gift

  1014. called salvation.

  1015. Stand to your feet.

  1016. Hallelujah.

1017. So, if you have never

  1018. received this free gift

  1019. of salvation,

  1020. it's free.

1021. You don't have to pay for it,

1022. but you do have to activate it.

1023. And you activate it by activate it by

  1024. believing in your heart

1025. that God raised Jesus from the dead and

1026. that he did died for you. He took your

1027. place. He took your sin.

1028. He bore it on himself

1029. so that we could have eternal life, just

  1030. like we read.

1031. And if you've never accessed

  1032. salvation,

  1033. don't leave here today. If you're

1034. watching online, maybe you've stumbled

  1035. up on this

  1036. service

  1037. current or later,

1038. but you say, "I have never I have never

1039. asked Jesus to be Lord of my life."

1040. Make the choice. Make the choice. It's a

1041. choice. Make the decision. Make the

  1042. decision

1043. to invite him into your life.

  1044. Into your life.

  1045. It's a wonderful life.

  1046. It's a life that

1047. he's promised us all those blessings.

1048. But we just have to be able to access it

1049. and activate what's been provided. So,

1050. if you've never received Jesus, keep

1051. your eyes open. He said that man that

1052. that we need to confess him before man.

1053. So, if you've never received Jesus and

1054. you're here today or if you're watching

1055. online, I'm going to ask you to do a

1056. favor. Do me a favor and raise your hand

1057. right where you're standing. Just raise

  1058. your hand.

1059. Anyone at all under the sound of my

  1060. voice, you've never

1061. ever received Jesus as your Lord or

1062. maybe you did many many many maybe you

1063. were sprinkled as a child

1064. and you thought, "I'm good."

  1065. There's another step.

1066. Receiving Jesus as your personal Lord

1067. and Savior. Anyone at all.

  1068. Anyone at all.

1069. Well, I'm going to lead you through a

  1070. prayer just in case.

1071. It's about your heads. Father, I thank

  1072. you

1073. for Jesus. We thank you for Jesus. We

  1074. thank you that Jesus

  1075. died

1076. for us in our place

1077. and and took our sin.

1078. Then he didn't just stay in the grave,

1079. but he he came back to life.

1080. He's seated at your right hand. He's

  1081. alive.

1082. He's alive and he lives in us now.

1083. We thank you for the plan of salvation.

1084. So, we believe it in our heart and we

1085. say with our mouth that Jesus is my Lord

1086. and Savior. Thank you, Jesus, for

1087. providing for me salvation. I believe

1088. I believe you died for me and I believe

1089. you rose again and I thank you for it.

  1090. In Jesus

  1091. name.

  1092. And we all sin.

1093. Amen. Amen. Simple as that.

  1094. Simple as that.

1095. Activating your card of salvation is not

  1096. difficult, but it's important

  1097. that you do it.

  1098. Amen.
