Sermon
Following the Holy Spirit to Your Divine Destiny | Annette Capps | World Outreach Church

-
At the first part of the year, the Lord
-
told me, he said, "Everywhere you go
-
outside of Cap's Chapel to preach, I
-
want you to talk about the guidance of
-
the Holy Spirit."
-
>> I went, "Oh, wow. This is the first time
-
God's ever said anything like that to
-
me. I'm so excited because I don't have
-
to study and prepare for a new sermon
-
every time. I know what I'm speaking
-
on."
-
And yet so far, every time I've gotten
-
ready to speak, it's about following the
-
Holy Spirit, but it's on a different
-
level.
-
>> So today, this is what the Holy Spirit
-
gave me. And I want to start and begin
-
with first of all, let's just let's just
-
go over some basics and and then we'll
-
get into the text for the day.
-
But let's talk about what destiny is.
-
How many of you have heard the word
-
destiny? And when it happens, don't you
-
kind of get this woo? [singing]
-
Destiny. Woo!
-
You know,
-
and what what does that mean? What is
-
it? Well, and then we have people, and
-
I've used this scripture myself that
-
says that God says, "I know the plans I
-
have for you. Plans for good and not for
-
evil. Plans to prosper you. Plans to
-
bless you.
-
A and we think about God's plans and
-
God's purposes. And then we've got this
-
thing out here that's that's destiny
-
that kind of floats around. So let's
-
let's just start out by differentiating
-
the difference. How about that?
-
Differentiating the difference between
-
plan, purpose, destiny, and fate. Let's
-
just start there and then we're going to
-
go to the word. All right. What is a
-
plan? Has anybody ever had a plan?
-
>> How many of you don't like to plan?
-
Don't raise your hand though. How many
-
of you are really planners down to the
-
very last everything? Okay. So, you know
-
what a plan is? A plan is an actionable
-
stepbystep
-
method to achieve a specific outcome. It
-
is a blueprint and from current that
-
goes from current state to future
-
outcome.
-
That makes sense, right? It's a
-
stepby-step thing that goes from you
-
where you are now to where you're going.
-
So, you've got a plan to get there. How
-
many of you plan to eat lunch today
-
after church? Do you have a plan to get
-
there? Oh, honey, let's go to such and
-
such restaurant today.
-
Okay. So, in your mind, you know where
-
the restaurant is, how probably how
-
you're going to get there, right? So,
-
that's a plan. That's a plan. All right.
-
What is a purpose?
-
A purpose is the reason something is
-
done, created,
-
or exist.
-
The reason behind it. What's the reason
-
behind you going to lunch? You're
-
hungry.
-
[laughter]
-
That's pretty simple, isn't it? Okay.
-
So, there's a purpose and there's a
-
plan. So we talk about God's plans and
-
in a very expansive way God we know
-
God's plan from Genesis to Revelation.
-
It's revealed to us and exposed to us,
-
right? We know the plan of salvation. We
-
knew the plan to send the Messiah. So we
-
have the big plan. And what's the
-
purpose? We know the purpose is that God
-
wanted you back.
-
That's right.
-
>> He wanted you back.
-
>> And the ultimate end is he wants you
-
back and he wants the earth back.
-
>> His entire creation.
-
>> So there we have plan, we have purpose
-
and then we have destiny.
-
All right. So this is a
-
I guess well I got it off the internet
-
just searching you know for different
-
things on the internet.
-
Destiny is a predetermined course of
-
events in your life a force a power that
-
guides your future.
-
That sound about right? Okay. So then
-
let's go to something else.
-
Fate.
-
Anybody ever heard of fate?
-
>> In Greek mythology, there were three
-
sisters, the fates.
-
>> And they determined when you were born,
-
what you did. They determined how long
-
you lived. And one of them ended up
-
cutting the string. Says that's the end
-
of them.
-
>> That doesn't sound very godly, does it?
-
>> And it's also very not right because we
-
know that there is not a fate. There is
-
not a predetermined thing that you're
-
going to die on this date because those
-
things are changeable because we have
-
Hezekiah for one. God said, "Get stuff
-
in order. You're going to die."
-
>> And then he turned his face to the wall
-
and said, "Lord,
-
>> I'm not basically I'm not ready to go."
-
And God turned the prophet around and
-
sent him back
-
>> and said, "I'm giving you 15 more
-
years."
-
So there was not a fate attached to
-
that. Okay, that fate is
-
well listen to the difference here. Fate
-
is an unavoidable
-
external force that dictates exactly
-
what happens to you.
-
And people that believe that are called
-
fatalist.
-
Now listen to the difference between
-
that. Every time you hear somebody say,
-
"Well, that was just fate."
-
It's usually associated with car wrecks,
-
disastrous, death, and the negative side
-
of life most of the time.
-
So, if it's unavoidable, this is what
-
the devil would like people to believe.
-
It's unavoidable external force that
-
dictates exactly what happens so that
-
you don't make any attempt to change
-
anything in your life.
-
It doesn't matter what choice I make. It
-
doesn't matter what I do, it's going to
-
happen.
-
>> I know people right now that are
-
believing to die at a certain age
-
because their parents did.
-
>> That's that that's not
-
>> well, you get what you believe,
-
>> right?
-
>> You get what you believe, you get what
-
you say. But that's not the way God
-
wants you to do it.
-
>> He wants you to live out the full span
-
of your life. And he not only wants you
-
to live out the full span of your life.
-
He wants you to live it in health.
-
>> Not sick, not disease. He wants you to
-
live it in health.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> Well, I'm going lots of ways today, but
-
we're getting the point across.
-
>> You've been destined to something. And
-
the way people pick their destiny and
-
decide that their destiny is a certain
-
thing is that they do it from their own
-
mind, their own plans, and their own
-
purposes.
-
>> But we're not interested in that as born
-
again believers. We should be interested
-
in God's plan, God's purpose, God's
-
divine destiny for all of his creation.
-
>> Are you getting it? Yes.
-
>> Okay. So, let's go to our scripture if
-
we could and our
-
first Corinthians 2 verses 6-1
-
16
-
and I think this is the way translation
-
because that was the um the version I
-
chose for this. All right. 1 Corinthians
-
2 beginning with verse 6. When we are
-
among mature believers, we do not speak
-
words of wisdom.
-
That doesn't sound right.
-
How about I read it to you out of my
-
Bible?
-
All right. 1 Corinians
-
2 6.
-
Yeah, this may be a different
-
translation perhaps. All right.
-
He says there is a wisdom that we utter
-
among the mature. Do you know there's a
-
difference? There's a wisdom we utter
-
among the mature. A wisdom, however, not
-
deriving from the present age.
-
[clears throat]
-
>> I'm just going to stop there for a
-
second.
-
>> We usually say from the present world,
-
but that's not what this says. From the
-
present age. What age are we living in?
-
We're living in the church age, the age
-
of grace.
-
>> So, the wisdom that Paul's talking about
-
is coming from a different age.
-
>> It's not ages past.
-
It's not the present age.
-
It is the future age.
-
In other words, he's saying to those who
-
are mature in Christ, I can speak from
-
the future.
-
I can speak from eternal truths and you
-
will grasp it.
-
>> But he goes on to say about the ones
-
that are not mature. [laughter]
-
He doesn't he can't speak in the depths
-
of the wisdom. So not deriving from the
-
present age, not from the powers who are
-
in control of this age.
-
>> Does there is everybody familiar with
-
the powers that are in control of this
-
age?
-
>> The devil is still here. His cohorts are
-
still here.
-
These powers are still here. Jesus has
-
defeated those powers, but they're still
-
here. And why are they here? I'm just
-
going to follow the Holy Spirit. I know
-
I that goes without saying,
-
>> but they're still here. Why are they
-
still here if Jesus defeated them?
-
Because there is a time.
-
>> There is a shifting of the age.
-
>> And it is not until the next age that
-
the devil will be bound. That is why
-
when Jesus encountered devils, demons,
-
and evil spirits, they said, "Whoa, I
-
know you who you are, the Holy One of
-
God.
-
>> Have you come to torment us before?"
-
[clears throat]
-
>> The time.
-
Before the time.
-
>> They know they have a destiny.
-
[laughter]
-
And they know when the time has come,
-
that's it.
-
>> The end. But we're still dealing with
-
the powers of this age in the current
-
time. But we're not operating.
-
>> We are not operating from this age. We
-
are operating from the next age.
-
And Paul said, "And have tasted of the
-
powers of the world that is, no, have
-
tasted the powers of the world to come."
-
>> So you and I are challenged to live in
-
this earth and not operate in the powers
-
of this age or in whatever we think is
-
going on. But we are assign we have an
-
assignment and a destiny to operate in
-
the powers of the world to come.
-
>> In other words, we are to act as if the
-
world to come is already established
-
because Jesus said the kingdom of God is
-
in you
-
>> now. Not that the kingdom of God one of
-
is going to come during the millennium.
-
The kingdom of God is in you now. And
-
that is your divine connection to the
-
millennial age to the world to come.
-
>> Glory.
-
>> Glory. Okay, I need to get closer to you
-
guys. Can somebody move my podium down
-
there?
-
I want to look you in the face. I want
-
to see you because this is a word.
-
This is a word
-
>> for this church. Every time I come here,
-
God gives me a word for this body of
-
believers, for this church. This church
-
has a destiny.
-
>> We think of people having destinies,
-
>> and they do,
-
>> but this church has a destiny.
-
>> It was established with a destiny. And
-
you can see part of the destiny. Look at
-
all the flags around to touch the
-
nations of the world. But the other part
-
of the destiny of this church is to keep
-
alive the moving of the Holy Spirit to
-
keep some people somewhere on this earth
-
that know how to flow in the gifts of
-
the spirit that know how to flow with
-
the Holy Spirit of God.
-
>> You say, "Well, doesn't everybody do
-
that?" No.
-
>> [laughter]
-
>> So there is a destiny for this church.
-
>> Now you will not find your destiny a lot
-
of times in the in the places you're
-
looking for. Let's go on with this
-
scripture.
-
So the p it does not come from the
-
powers who are in control of this age.
-
Though their days are numbered, we speak
-
God's wisdom in a mystery,
-
a mystery,
-
a hidden wisdom
-
which before the world began,
-
before the world began, God
-
purposed.
-
There's that word purpose, a reason.
-
What was the reason? He purposed this
-
wisdom held in the ministry in the mi in
-
a mystery also held in the ministry. But
-
he purposed
-
>> this hidden wisdom that was in a mystery
-
that he purposed for our
-
>> glory.
-
>> To tap into the glory, you must tap in
-
the wis wisdom.
-
The wisdom that comes not in this age
-
but the next age.
-
>> This wisdom is a wisdom which not one of
-
the powers who control the present age
-
has learned.
-
>> Yeah, you can see that. For if they had
-
learned it, they would not have
-
crucified the Lord of glory.
-
>> Now here what it says. But we speak to
-
use the words of scripture. Did you know
-
Paul knew the scriptures?
-
>> Paul knew the scriptures.
-
>> And that's one of the reasons I like
-
this right here. This uh way is because
-
he sets apart
-
he sets apart the scriptures from the
-
Old Testament so that you know what
-
comes what is he quoting here. So Paul
-
says, we speak to use the words of
-
scripture of things which I has not seen
-
nor ear heard and which has not entered
-
into the heart of man.
-
All
-
that God has in readiness for them that
-
love him.
-
>> Your eyes haven't seen it. Your ears
-
haven't seen it. The powers of this age,
-
their eyes and ears haven't seen it. is
-
there's nothing in their heart there the
-
things that God has prepared for us.
-
But here's how you find it. You are not
-
going to find your destiny. Nobody will
-
ever find their destiny with their head.
-
>> With your mind. You'll never find it
-
with your mind. So let's look. I'm
-
telling you, I'm just preaching from
-
Paul here today.
-
>> Glory. says, "For God has revealed them
-
through the spirit."
-
>> That's it. Yes, ma'am.
-
>> The destiny comes into the spirit. It is
-
revealed through the spirit. For the
-
spirit searches everything, including
-
the deeps of God.
-
>> Now,
-
a lot of times the translators here like
-
to put the Holy Spirit searches all
-
things, the deep things of God. But if
-
the Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity,
-
why would God have to search God?
-
>> So I thoroughly believe that this should
-
be the spirit of man searches all
-
things.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> Including the deep things of God.
-
>> It is your spirit that seeks out and
-
searches a purpose in life. It is your
-
spirit that seeks out a reason for
-
things that seeks out a plan. That seeks
-
out a purpose. It seeks out a destiny, a
-
reason for being alive on this earth.
-
>> It is your spirit.
-
>> And even the unregenerate spirit of man
-
seeks these things.
-
>> Hallelujah.
-
>> And psychologists tell us that those who
-
have a sense of purpose live longer and
-
have happier lives.
-
>> Well, duh.
-
>> Of course.
-
>> Yes, sir.
-
But the the the issue is here and I've
-
thought about this much is that the
-
younger people often think about
-
destiny. What am I destined to do? Am I
-
destined to become a writer? Am I
-
destined to become a doctor? Am I
-
destined to become a plumber? Am I
-
destined? But you know, it's interesting
-
because when you talk about destiny,
-
it's never plumber. It's never a
-
mechanic.
-
it's president of the United States,
-
>> right?
-
>> Because you just think that sort of
-
thing, you know, you just think that
-
sort of thing. That's because we do not
-
understand the destiny of God, the
-
purpose of God.
-
>> As I said, God has purposed from the
-
beginning. He his whole reason behind
-
everything he does is to get you back.
-
>> So good. How many of you are back?
-
>> Yeah, I'm back. God, prodal son, the
-
prodical daughter has returned home. I
-
am born of the spirit. And those who are
-
born of the spirit are led by the spirit
-
of God.
-
>> Right?
-
>> And so as I thought about this as a
-
young person and remembering back when I
-
was 20, 25, 26 and on and I thought
-
about how I was, yeah, what is God going
-
to do? what is my destiny? And I kept
-
trying to figure it out in my head. But
-
who best to tell you your destiny and to
-
take you on that journey to your destiny
-
than the Holy Spirit,
-
>> following the Holy Spirit. You see, you
-
just don't realize. You have no idea
-
that when you stop at that gas station,
-
>> when you leave this place, that when you
-
walk in there to get that whatever it is
-
you go in to get, I'd say a candy bar,
-
but I know you don't eat stuff like
-
that. [laughter]
-
When you walk in that gas station,
-
>> that that was part of your destiny to
-
see that person there and leave them a
-
track or see that person and minister to
-
them or
-
Now, don't tell me this is unbelievable
-
because I believe it. or you walked into
-
that gas station and you took the glory
-
of God in that place and you left a
-
trail of the glory of God in that gas
-
station so that somebody that walks in
-
next goes, "Woo!" [cheering]
-
>> Why am I thinking about what my mama
-
told me 45 years ago about Jesus? That's
-
weird.
-
>> Why? because you left a trail of glory
-
>> and then you go out and say, "Well, God
-
can't use me." You know, I'm
-
>> I don't have a destiny.
-
>> You don't know nothing about your
-
destiny in your head.
-
>> So, good.
-
>> You can only follow the Holy Spirit one
-
step at a time. And I got here to tell
-
you a lot of the time I'm following the
-
Holy Spirit and don't even know it.
-
>> It's not like I'm sitting around and
-
going, "Woo! Yes, Lord." Okay. Yes,
-
Lord.
-
>> I'll do that. Yes, Lord. I'll do that.
-
Somebody said, "Well, I've been praying
-
because I need a job." and the job a job
-
opened up but it's not one I want. Well,
-
do you need money?
-
[laughter]
-
>> Then unless God tells you no, take the
-
job.
-
>> That's right.
-
>> Well, this is not what I want to do with
-
my life.
-
>> Since when does your ego have anything
-
to do with God's plan for your life?
-
Oh, Annette, shut up. YOU'RE GETTING ON
-
PEOPLE'S TOES. [cheering]
-
>> Getting on people's toes.
-
>> So, the young people, you know, is where
-
am I going? What am I going to do? Who
-
am I going to marry? Will I have kids?
-
But then we go through the generations
-
and we get to the it's like, well, I'm
-
70 years old. God can't do anything with
-
me. I'm done with my life. Oh,
-
seriously?
-
>> Come on. Come on now. That's good stuff.
-
>> Come on.
-
>> How do you know that you shy person that
-
you are afraid to talk to anybody that
-
one day you run into somebody in Walmart
-
>> and somehow
-
amazingly the spirit of God comes on you
-
>> and you talk to that young man.
-
>> Yeah. Come on.
-
>> Thank you, Jesus.
-
>> It's happened to me. and you talk to
-
that young man and you give him the way
-
to salvation either by giving him a
-
track or you speak to him about his soul
-
and you go, "Lord, I can't even believe
-
I did that. That's not me."
-
>> But you do it
-
>> and that young man turns out to be
-
another Billy Graham.
-
>> Come on now.
-
>> And you say,
-
>> "No, God can't use me. I'm 80 years old.
-
>> You trying to do it in your head. Get
-
out of your head and get in your spirit.
-
[applause and cheering]
-
>> The destiny of God rest upon every one
-
of you. The destiny of God rests upon
-
every person born into this world.
-
>> But it's those that choose
-
>> choose that destiny.
-
>> Those that choose that destiny.
-
I uh I've been watching they came out
-
with a new thing on uh John F. Kennedy
-
>> several hour series and I watched it
-
because I was very interested in it. And
-
I knew these things but I didn't know
-
the extent of these things. I'll put it
-
that way. But I had no idea that this
-
young man was so sick. Half the time
-
they didn't expect him to live. He was
-
in pain most of his entire life.
-
He was in such severe pain when he was
-
running his his campaigns
-
that he had he could hardly walk. And
-
yet he'd walk up flight after flight of
-
stairs to go knock on somebody's door
-
and talk to him about voting for him.
-
>> And he was running for office. I think
-
it was Senate at that point.
-
You say, "Well, I can't." He could have
-
sat there as well. I I can't because I
-
have health problems.
-
>> I have health problems and and I can't
-
do that sort of thing. So, I'm just
-
destined to end up in a wheelchair. I'm
-
destined to not accomplish anything. I'm
-
destined because my circumstances
-
are not allowing me to complete my
-
destiny. So, I'm just destined to do
-
something else. Come on. Come on now.
-
>> But there was something on the inside of
-
him.
-
>> Yes.
-
>> That rose above every
-
>> obstacle, every pain, every diagnosis
-
>> that drove him.
-
>> Yeah.
-
>> Because he knew
-
that's where he wanted to be and that's
-
where he was going. And he made up his
-
mind. And I thought about that.
-
Here is this man in such pain and he had
-
a lot of problems. Okay, I don't you
-
know that's not the point. The point is
-
this is that he was so consumed with his
-
destiny and purpose in life that he
-
wasn't going to let his body falling
-
apart stop him.
-
>> And he didn't know about healing. He
-
didn't know about any of this stuff. And
-
I thought, God, what about us?
-
>> I thought about myself. You know,
-
sometimes it's like, well, you know, and
-
God has hadn't talked to me about rest
-
as well as somebody else. He's talking
-
about rest. [laughter] Not pointing at
-
anybody, but
-
God's hadn't talked to me about rest,
-
but there's been times it's like, well,
-
God, I Yeah, I'm just kind of tired. I'd
-
like to chill out. You know,
-
I'm sure nobody in here ever felt that
-
way. Hey, I'd like to just chill out.
-
There came a time when I thought, well,
-
you know, I've done a lot of things in
-
the ministry. I kept my dad's ministry
-
going. I've done all this, that, and the
-
other. And so, I'm just going to sit
-
back and I'm going to take it easy and
-
just sort of, you know, not retire, but
-
just chill out and and just let somebody
-
let some of these younger folks take it.
-
>> Like Elijah's sitting here. He's going
-
to speak tomorrow. Just let me sit back
-
and let Elijah take it.
-
>> Well, that worked for about a month.
-
Yeah. [clears throat]
-
>> And then here I was back.
-
>> Yeah.
-
>> But it took me that many years.
-
[laughter]
-
It took me that many years to fully
-
yield myself to the purpose of God, to
-
the destiny of God, to what God had for
-
my life.
-
>> And I didn't start out knowing where I
-
was going. If you told me where I was
-
going to be doing the things I'm doing
-
today, I would have That's not what's
-
going to happen.
-
>> But it all happens because of the Holy
-
Spirit in us taking one step at a time.
-
>> One step. You don't know exactly where
-
you're going, but I feel like I'm
-
supposed to do this.
-
>> I feel like I'm supposed to take a job
-
at Costco. It's the only thing
-
available. Take it.
-
Some people are sitting around just
-
waiting for God to give them the message
-
about taking a job at Costco when that's
-
the place that's open. That's the place
-
that'll pay their bills.
-
>> That doesn't mean you're called to do
-
that forever.
-
>> Boy, I just keep getting on people's
-
toes and stuff like that. Let's go back
-
to the Bible and I'll hide behind the
-
podium here a minute. All right.
-
[laughter]
-
>> Right.
-
>> Eye is not seen. ear is not heard,
-
neither has entered into the heart of
-
man the things God has prepared in
-
readiness for them that love him. For to
-
us God has revealed them through the
-
Spirit. For the Spirit searches
-
everything, including the deeps of God.
-
For who among men knows a man's thoughts
-
except a man's own spirit within him? In
-
the same way, only God's spirit is
-
acquainted with God's thoughts. But we
-
have not received the spirit of the
-
world, but the spirit which comes
-
>> from God,
-
>> that we may know,
-
>> hallelujah,
-
>> what is freely
-
>> given us by God.
-
>> And this we also utter, not in language
-
which man's wisdom teaches, but that
-
which the spirit
-
teaches. Amen.
-
>> We could just stop right there.
-
It says, "Adapting spiritual words to
-
spiritual truths. The unspiritual man
-
rejects the teachings of the spirit of
-
God. They are folly to him." Why?
-
Because it doesn't register up here.
-
>> That doesn't make any sense. I'm not
-
giving my life to God because he'll make
-
me go shout hallelujah and be one of
-
those holy rollers.
-
>> I'm not going to do that. And you have
-
no idea, no idea that that's what you've
-
been looking for all this time
-
>> because it's of the spirit.
-
>> The unspiritual man rejects the
-
teachings of the spirit of God. To him
-
they are folly. He cannot learn them
-
because they are spiritually appraised.
-
But the spiritual man appraises
-
everything although he himself is
-
appraised of none.
-
So
-
the misconceptions about destiny is that
-
there is a plan
-
like a blueprint
-
that God sets out.
-
>> And you ever looked at the blueprints?
-
Okay, there's a foundation here. We've
-
got to put rebar in it. It's got to be
-
18 inches deep. It's got to be this.
-
It's got to be that. And then we start
-
putting the studs up. And then we put
-
nails in there so many places. And so
-
God's plan is like this. It's like that
-
blueprint. And if you leave out a nail
-
>> Yeah.
-
>> or miss hammering that stud in the right
-
place and the whole house falls and
-
you're you're done because you made a
-
mistake. You missed it.
-
>> I'm just letting it set in. Yeah.
-
>> Yeah.
-
>> There's been times that I thought, God,
-
if I hadn't messed up, you've been able
-
to do something with me.
-
And he said, move on.
-
>> Move on.
-
>> If you don't think God's big enough and
-
smart enough [laughter]
-
>> and wise enough to know that, you're not
-
going to walk by that blueprint.
-
See, we're missing the whole thing. We
-
think that it's this, this, this, and so
-
I missed it here. So now I've missed the
-
perfect will of God for my life because
-
this happened.
-
>> That's not how it works.
-
>> That's not how it works. Because see,
-
there is an o you've got to have the
-
first before you find your destiny,
-
you've got to find first of all what God
-
destined you for. Amen.
-
>> All right, let's just take a look at it
-
real quick and then I'm going to come
-
back.
-
All right, Ephesians 5 1 and5 says that
-
we are predestined. Oh, there's that
-
word predestined. I don't believe in
-
predestination.
-
Well, the church has sort of wrestled
-
with that idea for centuries and we've
-
sort of moved past that. So, let's just
-
talk about this. What does the Bible say
-
we're predestined for? Because that word
-
is there. Predestined, predetermined.
-
It's there.
-
>> So what are we predestined for?
-
We are predestined for adoption as his
-
child.
-
>> Ephesians 15. Ephesians 11. Because we
-
are his child. Ephesians 1 11
-
says that we are predestined to obtain
-
an inheritance from him.
-
>> You still with me?
-
>> Amen.
-
And then it goes on, and we are
-
predestined to receive his Holy Spirit.
-
>> And then in Romans 8:29, it says, "We
-
are predestined to be conformed to the
-
image of his son."
-
>> That's right.
-
>> So, we are predestined
-
to become a child of the living God, be
-
filled with his Holy Spirit, and grow up
-
into him
-
>> and become a mature person. Yeah,
-
>> that's what we're predestined for. I did
-
not read anything in there about
-
marrying John so and so or such and such
-
or
-
>> we're pre certain people are predestined
-
to die at a certain age. I didn't that's
-
not in there.
-
>> You got to understand the
-
predestination.
-
Once you come into Christ, you're in the
-
family and you are predestined to be in
-
that family and all that the rights all
-
the rights of being in that family.
-
>> So that's the first thing you need to
-
understand about destiny.
-
>> And then you need to understand the
-
purpose of God.
-
>> And the purpose of God is just this.
-
And I'm going to talk about us right
-
now. You and I
-
here in this period of time, we are
-
living between the first coming of the
-
Messiah
-
and the second coming of the Messiah.
-
>> There's been almost 2,000 years between
-
those events.
-
>> Approximately 2,000 years.
-
And where are we at this period of time?
-
You know, Paul was back here. This was
-
the first coming. Paul was here.
-
And then we're over here near the coming
-
in of the new age, the second coming of
-
Christ. And if you can see my thumb,
-
we're right here.
-
>> We're just butting up against it right
-
there.
-
>> This where we are.
-
>> See, you may say, "Well, I don't have a
-
destiny. I don't have a this or that."
-
Oh, but you do. You and I have been born
-
into such a time as this.
-
>> But what we don't understand about our
-
and I'm going to talk about a minute
-
about the destiny of the church.
-
>> You and I have been born over here at
-
this time. There were people that were
-
born here right before the first coming
-
of the Messiah. The prophet looked for
-
the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
Many looked for the coming of the
-
Messiah.
-
And then the word of God said something
-
very interesting.
-
It said, "I send my messenger before my
-
fa face to prepare the way for the
-
Messiah, the coming of the Messiah." And
-
guess who that was? John the Baptist,
-
right?
-
>> He was the messenger.
-
And so why was it important for John the
-
Baptist to be born?
-
>> Prepare the way.
-
>> Jesus had to have someone prepare the
-
way and get people ready. And what did
-
John do?
-
Get ready. Get ready. Get ready. Get
-
ready. The Messiah is coming. No. John
-
the Baptist said, "Repent."
-
>> Yeah.
-
>> Get your life right.
-
You don't want to be in this shape when
-
the Messiah comes,
-
>> right?
-
>> And you know what? The Messiah had
-
already been born.
-
>> Isn't that interesting? The destiny, so
-
to speak, of John the Baptist and the
-
destiny of the Lord Jesus Christ
-
>> and the importance of John the Baptist
-
preparing the way. What does that mean?
-
Well, in the old days, let's Well, I
-
tell you what, I'm going to jump here
-
because I don't want to miss this. This
-
is so good. Let's go to um
-
Isaiah
Isaiah 40 chapter mention
-
chapter 40 really quick because this
-
this is what we're getting to what the
-
Lord
-
wants you to know.
-
Let's see.
-
Yes.
-
Isaiah 40. I'm reading out of the uh BSB
-
version. Listen to what this says.
-
Isaiah 40:3, a voice of one calling.
-
Now, I look up here and it says, one of
-
the versions says, "A voice cries in the
-
wilderness." Okay? A voice of one
-
calling. Prepare the way for the Lord in
-
the wilderness. Make a straight highway
-
for our God in the desert. Every valley
-
shall be lifted up. Every mountain and
-
hill made low and uneven ground will
-
become smooth and the rugged land a
-
plain.
-
So everything's going to be raised up,
-
brought down and a straight path made.
-
Right
-
>> now this was a messianic prophecy about
-
the Messiah.
-
It was listen to this. John the Baptist
-
was a key in ushering out the old
-
covenant, the old age, and ushering in
-
the new age.
-
>> And new age,
-
>> somebody stole that
-
>> new age,
-
>> the age of the church, the age of grace.
-
John was a key
-
of preparing the way of the Lord for the
-
new
-
dispensation,
-
the new era, the age that was to come
-
from their perspective.
-
>> So John the Baptist was a key. Now what
-
happened in those days is that when a
-
king was going to come to visit a city,
-
they sent people out before the king to
-
knock out the rocks out of the road,
-
take out the bumps, even pave roads. Can
-
you imagine? The king is coming. It's
-
going to take us 10 years to get him
-
here, but we're going to clean
-
everything out, right? And so this is
-
what it's talking about. The way is made
-
clear for the Messiah when he came
-
because John got people to repent so
-
they were ready to receive the message
-
>> from Jesus.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> And actually there was one spot there
-
where um the religious leaders came and
-
they came to check it out and maybe to
-
be baptized. And he said, "Who
-
you," he called them snakes,
-
you group of vipers and snakes, who
-
warned you about the wrath to come
-
>> because that was the condition of the
-
religion at that point in time. So here
-
we have the prophecy of the first coming
-
of the Messiah and John the Baptist is
-
the one that paved the way so to speak
-
for Jesus
-
to come and minister to the people. But
-
this has a second thing and this is the
-
word of the Lord to you today and to the
-
church of the Lord Jesus Christ. And
-
that is that we the church are the ones
-
that are paving the way for the second
-
coming of the Lord and for the reign of
-
the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
-
We are the ones paving and segging in
-
from the age of the church into the
-
rapture, the tribulation. And that's
-
only seven years
-
>> and into the millennial age
-
>> where Jesus will reign on this earth,
-
the second coming of Christ. It is our
-
responsibility to number one get
-
ourselves ready.
-
Number two, go out to the harvest,
-
>> right?
-
>> That's our responsibility. But here's
-
here's the clincher because we keep
-
talking about the glory of God.
-
You ready?
-
>> All right. Every valid valley shall be
-
lifted up. Every mountain and hill made
-
low, and uneven ground will become
-
smooth, and the rugged land a plain. And
-
once the way is prepared and the ground
-
is level and the path is cleared, the
-
glory of the Lord will be revealed
-
>> and all humanity together will see it.
-
>> Why? For the mouth of the Lord has
-
spoken. Amen.
-
>> So here is the prophetic message in
-
this. Pray for John. John the Baptist
-
came and prepared the way for Jesus.
-
You got a destiny as a child of God to
-
prepare the way for the second coming of
-
Jesus.
-
>> And let's just put it in perspective
-
here.
-
It's up to us individually to get before
-
God and say, "God, I've been focused on
-
this. I've been focused on that. Been
-
focused on the other. Focus me
-
on your
-
destiny for the church of the Lord Jesus
-
Christ." Everybody say, "I am the
-
church."
-
>> I am the church.
-
>> I am the body of Christ.
-
>> I am the body of Christ. It is up to us
-
>> to prepare the way
-
>> the way
-
>> for this coming.
-
>> It's a it's just it. That's what that's
-
what the word. And if you want to see
-
the glory and we want to experience the
-
glory of the Lord is and we got to
-
remove the mountains, raise the valleys
-
up, pave the way. And you go, "Well,
-
what does that mean?" Well, you're not
-
going to understand it here, but you
-
understand it in your spirit.
-
in your spirit. Something's something's
-
stirring.
-
>> You're going to understand it in your
-
spirit.
-
>> And you are going to hear the voice of
-
the spirit of God. Because here's what
-
God said everywhere. Everywhere you go,
-
I want you to talk about the guidance of
-
the Holy Spirit. And I'm talking right
-
now about
-
>> following the Holy Spirit to your divine
-
destiny.
-
Quit thinking in terms of mind and ego
-
of my divine destiny to to be a
-
millionaire to run a company to do this
-
and God may do that with you and that's
-
fine but your ultimate divine destiny is
-
to usher in for this generation
-
>> good
-
>> those of us who are alive right now
-
>> to usher in the coming
-
>> of the Lord Jesus Christ
-
>> that is our divine destiny.
-
>> Let's get the let's get God's view.
-
>> Let's get thinking about on our our
-
about well, what's God's plan for my
-
life? I don't know what God's plan for
-
my life is, what his purpose is. I don't
-
know.
-
Let's get our mind off that. You got an
-
internal guidance system,
-
>> the Holy Spirit, a divine GPS.
-
that all you got to do is set it on the
-
right thing.
-
>> If you if you want to go to Little Rock,
-
Arkansas, you don't set it for Dallas,
-
Texas.
-
>> But if you set it on Little Rock,
-
Arkansas, being a pilot, I've used GPS
-
for that kind of stuff for years. All
-
right? And it was just a piece of cake,
-
man. Once you could do that, you just
-
set it in there and you just make sure
-
your airplane stays on that line.
-
And it's the same thing with your car.
-
Just make sure you do go where it tells
-
you to go if it's working right.
-
I got news for you. The Holy Spirit
-
always works right.
-
>> The Holy Spirit, your internal GPS.
-
>> If you got it set on
-
other stuff, I don't even want to go
-
into it. other stuff of what your
-
destiny is.
-
Then you're going to
-
>> you may go around this way
-
and you may go around again and you may
-
go around and some of you feel like
-
you're stuck right here. You just keep
-
going round and round and round and
-
round. Then you try to get out and then
-
you come end up right back at the same
-
place.
-
>> You need to reset your GPS.
-
>> Reset. I'm going to put all this aside.
-
And I'm setting
-
my divine destiny and destination
-
>> on the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
-
>> and the next age to come, which is the
-
millennium. And for those of you that
-
think you're going to go in the rapture
-
and stay in heaven for all eternity, I
-
got news for you. We're coming back
-
here. Yeah,
-
>> don't get me on that. That's enough.
-
That's enough. That's the message for
-
the church today. And I say the church,
-
everybody that hears this online,
-
wherever they hear it,
-
>> this is the message, church. We are John
-
the Baptist in the way.
-
>> We are the one who prepares the way.
-
>> So, let's get busy preparing. But the
-
first step is to get our GPS set on the
-
right thing. All right, let's all stand
-
up.
-
>> Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus.
-
>> You know,
-
[laughter]
-
[snorts] I have a tendency just to tell
-
the truth and tell it like it is and
-
just
-
spit it out there.
-
>> I can preach this message to you today
-
and I can pray for you and I can lay my
-
hands on your head till I wear every
-
every hair off your head.
-
>> But I can't set that destiny and
-
destination for you.
-
>> You've got to make up your mind. I am
-
going with God.
-
>> I'm gonna focus on the things of the
-
spirit and the things of God. And oh
-
yeah, you know, don't look at me and
-
think that all I do is sit around go,
-
"Oh yes, God." I mean, I have to deal
-
with insurance. I have to deal with
-
cars being broken down. I have to deal
-
with all the stuff you do. That's right.
-
>> But my
-
my GPS, my destination, and my destiny
-
is set. And I say it all the time. I say
-
it.
-
>> Yes.
-
All the time.
-
I say, I will complete what God's called
-
me to do. [music]
-
>> You say, "Yeah, but you're a minister."
-
Well, you're a human.
-
I will live out the full span of my life
-
and health
-
>> and I will accomplish
-
>> the full purpose, plan, whatever you
-
want to call it, destiny
-
and I will reach my destination. And
-
that's what Paul said, you know, I
-
fought the good fight.
-
>> I've run the course. I crossed the
-
finish line. I'm going on
-
>> fine.
-
That's good.
-
But a lot of you have said that I've hit
-
the finish line and I'm going on and you
-
ain't done.
-
>> That's good.
-
>> The Bible recognizes gray hair is a sign
-
of wisdom. Longevity is not a bad thing.
-
It's a good thing.
-
>> It's like my dad told somebody one time,
-
they said, "Well, I don't know. I just
-
keep having these birthdays and getting
-
older."
-
My dad said, "Well, there's only one way
-
out of that.
-
[laughter]
-
>> If you die, you won't have any more
-
birthdays."
-
But none of us want that.
-
>> In reality,
-
we need to set fixed purpose.
-
>> Fixed purpose on our part,
-
our part to play in this end time. And
-
it's not all apostles, and it's not all
-
prophets. And it's not all this stuff.
-
It is all members of the body of Christ
-
working together in that area that God's
-
called
-
>> you to.
-
>> So,
-
I'm going to ask this right now. I'm
-
going to ask you right now. How many of
-
you are willing to do everything that
-
God has called you calling you to do
-
>> all the way to the I'm asking for a
-
commitment today. I'm not asking for a
-
commitment for this week, for this
-
month, for this year. I'm asking for a
-
commitment until you grow up in the
-
rapture
-
>> or until you decide you've lived out
-
enough years and it is time. I'm asking
-
for a commitment until that day.
-
If you're willing to do that, I want you
-
to raise your right hand and I want you
-
to say this. In the name of the Lord
-
Jesus Christ. In the name of the Lord
-
Jesus Christ,
-
>> I commit myself
-
>> spirit, soul, and body
-
>> to accomplish
-
>> the will of God
-
>> the will of God.
-
>> The purpose of God
-
>> the purpose of God
-
>> the destiny of God
-
>> for my life
-
>> for my life.
-
>> I declare it.
-
>> I declare I will live out the full span
-
of my life.
-
>> I declare I will live out the full of my
-
life
-
>> in health.
-
>> In health. None of my days will be
-
shortened.
-
>> None of my days will be shortened.
-
>> And I will finish my race.
-
>> And I will smile.
-
>> I will smile.
-
>> When I'm done.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> Glory be to God.
-
[music]
-
>> Glory be to God. Glory be to God. Glory
-
be to God. All right.
-
>> Hallelujah. What I said about sometimes
-
you make mistakes. I was talking about
-
that blueprint. You know, the nail goes
-
in the wrong place.
-
>> It's not built right. There's some of
-
you here that been wrestling with all
-
the stuff you did wrong.
-
>> And some of you have done some things
-
that you're really ashamed of. But you
-
know what? God did everything he did cuz
-
he wants you back.
-
>> He wants you back.
-
>> And if you need forgiveness today, I
-
want you to raise your hand right now.
-
All right.
-
>> Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray
-
right now for divine
-
forgiveness and the love of God to flow
-
over every person here who has had
-
that situation in their life. They've
-
missed it. They've done wrong. Lord, I
-
just ask in Jesus' name that you restore
-
them to fellowship. Right now, I want
-
everybody in here to say this. Thank
-
you, Lord.
-
>> Thank you, Lord.
-
>> I am forgiven.
-
>> I am healed.
-
>> I am restored to fellowship.
-
>> I restored to fellowship.
-
>> You've forgiven me.
-
>> And I am free.
-
>> And I am free
-
>> to complete my destiny.
-
>> In Jesus name.
-
>> in Jesus name.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> All right. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah.
-
Glory to God. I believe we're done here.
-
>> Yeah.
