But first, I'm going to tell you an
-
experience that I had in high school. I
-
I grew up Christian and got filled with
-
the Holy Spirit at 15. Really got turned
-
on to God. I actually started preaching
-
at 16. So, I was a a junior in high
-
school. And uh and so, but but by that
-
time, every one of my friends and I
-
stayed in the same school my whole
-
career. Uh and that all of my friends,
-
everyone in the school knew I was a
-
Christian. I didn't preach. I just lived
-
it. And and in fact, I really wasn't
-
very evangelistic. I have to be honest.
-
I just felt like I'm not going to tell
-
them what to do and they're not going to
-
tell me what to do. I'm going to believe
-
what I want. I'm not going to go to
-
their parties and I'm not going to
-
partake in their habits, but I'm going
-
to I'm going to live my life. I'm not
-
going to preach at them and preach down
-
to them. And so, it was kind of a mutual
-
understanding. And uh but as I got
-
older, and this is where I believe our
-
responsibility comes in, uh the spirit
-
of God started dealing with me about my
-
friends. Not everybody in the school,
-
but my closest friends. And there was a
-
list of them. And I don't know, it was
-
less than a dozen. I don't remember how
-
long the list was, but I knew who they
-
were. And the Lord started doing like he
-
does many times. He started dealing with
-
me gently. He said, "You know, some of
-
these people you're never going to see
-
them again." I said, "Good. Some of them
-
I don't want to see again."
-
And uh he said, "You grew up with these
-
people and you've shared life with
-
them." I said, "I know. I know. I I know
-
I have. and uh graduation's right around
-
the corner. I said, "That's that's good.
-
I'm ready to go preach." I wanted to be
-
a preacher in high school. I wanted to
-
go to Bible school and travel the whole
-
world. And so, I had my sight set on
-
that. But he wouldn't leave me alone.
-
And and then he showed me this. He said,
-
"Uh, if you won the lottery, you'd share
-
that with him, wouldn't you?" And I
-
said, "Well, sure. I mean, if I won a
-
hund00 million, I'd tell my friends,
-
hey, guess what happened? Wouldn't you
-
tell them that?" And he said, 'Well, how
-
much more should you tell them about the
-
greatest treasure in the world, which is
-
salvation through Jesus Christ?
-
And then he showed me this. He said,
-
"One of these days, if they don't get
-
saved, they'll be in hell and you'll be
-
in heaven and they're going to ask you,
-
you mean you knew this and you didn't
-
tell me?"
-
>> And what is your excuse going to be
-
then? Well, I didn't want you to reject
-
me or I didn't want you to uh judge me
-
or I didn't want that awkward. No. And
-
and so I began to pray specifically for
-
each and every one of them. and they
-
were on a list and I started praying and
-
and I I I know everybody can do there's
-
a hundred ways to do evangelism and I'm
-
not trying to say this is how you have
-
to do it but I'm saying this is what I
-
did to just stir you up so you can use
-
these things in your own world because
-
there are people there are friends
-
co-workers that you probably have this
-
same responsibility toward and not
-
everybody but certain people in my life
-
I thought you know if they did had
-
something valuable they'd tell me and if
-
I have the greatest gift in the world, I
-
I need to tell him, but I don't want to
-
just spring it on him. So, I I started
-
praying. And so, one of them I I had him
-
on my heart. I'm praying for him. Lord,
-
help me. Help me share with Clifford. I
-
want the right mo moment. I want the
-
right time. I want the right And so, um
-
and and so I knew it's time to go
-
fishing with Clifford. So, I called
-
Cliff said, "Hey, let's go fishing."
-
Now, I didn't fish a whole lot, but I
-
did that day. [snorts] And uh and and so
-
I took my little track. I had a little
-
salvation track and I put it in my
-
pocket and I'm ready to go. That was
-
more important that day than the
-
fishbait. And so we went out and we
-
start. There seemed to be no
-
opportunity. We're fishing and he's
-
fishing and we're just small talk. And
-
he never went to church. He didn't grow
-
up in church. And here I was on fire for
-
God, full of Jesus. And and I had the
-
message. I had the answer. And he had
-
the problem. And and so here we are
-
fishing. And I didn't want to just say,
-
"Cliff, do you know where you'd go if
-
you died today?" You know, you know how
-
that approach is. And if you've used
-
that, I'm not condemning it. I just
-
think we should be more intentional. We
-
can be we can get the Lord to work with
-
us. You you've seen the Holy Spirit work
-
in these services. You see this all the
-
time, how they wait and and how will
-
waits and and Sarah, they wait for the
-
Holy Spirit. And then the pastor waits.
-
I've never seen more of a of a gentleman
-
than him in the spirit and in the
-
natural, but but constantly waiting to
-
get the direction. And I was doing this
-
with my friend and and since we grew up
-
together and we were close, it was
-
awkward. How many of you know what I'm
-
talking about? He knew that I was
-
different and I knew, you know, but but
-
it's not we never talked about it. We
-
just left each other alone. But on this
-
day, this was his day and I prayed and
-
and we kept fishing and we weren't
-
catching anything. And we didn't get
-
You'd think if you went on a fishing
-
trip for the Lord
-
anyway.
-
I mean, if he could help Peter catch
-
fish, he you know what I mean? But
-
anyhow, I was must be that bad. And so
-
we never caught anything. And and I
-
thought, well, this day is getting away.
-
What am I going to do? And it started
-
raining.
-
Well, it's raining now. We got to get in
-
the truck.
-
>> So now we're sitting in the truck in the
-
rain. Can't fish.
-
and I struck up a conversation with
-
Cliff.
-
Now, I'm not going to demand that anyone
-
pray with me right then and there, but
-
on that day, Cliff did. He prayed. He
-
prayed the salvation prayer and he got
-
saved that day.
-
>> A few years later, I helped him get
-
filled with the Holy Ghost. And he
-
literally lived for God his entire life.
-
He went home to be with the Lord two
-
years ago and went to heaven.
-
>> Isn't that cool? and and they say,
-
"Well, well, wouldn't somebody else have
-
shared with him?" And they probably
-
would have, but I was his friend and I
-
owed it to him to tell him the most
-
valuable truths that I have in my life.
-
Then there was another and there was
-
several people on the list and and this
-
happened with each and every one of
-
them. I knew the time, I knew the place,
-
I had my track ready, my salvation track
-
cuz I didn't want to just tell them and
-
not give them any information. So, I
-
always had a track ready. So, one of the
-
guys was my best friend. We grew up
-
together like brothers. We went through
-
Boy Scouts together. I stayed with him
-
in his home. His parents treated me like
-
a a son. And and so we were really
-
close. And they were totally unchurched.
-
Didn't want church. Didn't go to church.
-
Didn't have anything to do with church.
-
And I knew this was going to be a tough
-
one. And so I prayed and prayed and I
-
sought God and I said, "I want to share
-
with my friend." And I'm not going to
-
give his name out, but I I want to share
-
with him and and you got to help me
-
because this is awkward and I want it to
-
be right. And so, uh, I it came down to
-
it's it's getting to be fall and it's
-
it's, uh, dove season.
-
And, uh, I didn't go dove hunting a lot,
-
but, I did this time. And I prayed and I
-
thought, "This is the day I'm going to
-
call my friend. He's working until 6:00.
-
I know his schedule. I'm going to call
-
him." We didn't call a lot in those days
-
cuz we didn't have personal cell phones.
-
These are days when the phone was on the
-
wall in the kitchen. You probably don't
-
Google it. It really used to be on the
-
wall in the and it was a green color.
-
You ever had the green phone? We don't
-
even use that color anymore. That whole
-
color has been retired [laughter]
-
and and it had a cord that you could
-
walk around the kitchen with with and
-
and so uh and so I'm going to call him.
-
He's at work and I get and and I'm I'm
-
waiting cuz I'm home from school and we
-
just got this little window and I'm
-
going to see if he wants to go dove
-
hunting. My phone rang in the kitchen.
-
We had no answering machine. and you had
-
to answer it yourself. These were the
-
good old days.
-
>> Good old days.
-
>> If somebody called you and you didn't
-
answer, there's no answer machine.
-
There's no missed calls. It's like it
-
never happened. [laughter]
-
Nowadays, you can't you get a call and
-
it's like I called you. You got it me on
-
your missed call list. It's like I just
-
didn't want to call you back.
-
Anyway, um the phone rang. I pick up the
-
phone. It's him. He said, 'Hey, I'm at
-
work. I get off at 6:00. You want to go
-
dove hunting tonight? I said, "Uh, yeah,
-
I think that'd be fine. Let me see if I
-
can work that in." And so, off we go.
-
And uh and I picked him up or he picked
-
me up, whatever, at 6:00. And and I have
-
my track in my pocket. And we drive out
-
to the place. It's just a field. And we
-
sat out there. And I don't know what
-
people get out of hunting really, you
-
know. Have you ever heard deer hunters?
-
You know, I got up at 3:30
-
and I sat in a tree [laughter]
-
for 17 hours. I never even saw a deer.
-
Like, the only thing worse than that is
-
that you'd shoot one and have to deal
-
with it. You got a dead carcass.
-
Anyway, [laughter]
-
that's my issue.
-
So, so off we go. We're sitting in a
-
field just sitting in a in a bean field
-
and we got our guns and and and we're
-
waiting and it just seem didn't seem
-
right. We're small small talk whatever.
-
We've been together our whole lives and
-
you know we're just dealing with
-
whatever and the sun's going down and
-
I'm getting nervous that tracks burning
-
a hole in my pocket. It's like what am I
-
going to do? I got to witness this is I
-
know this is the time but it just
-
doesn't seem right. And the sun finally
-
went down. We got in his truck and off
-
he drives toward home and it's only like
-
15 minutes away and I'm thinking, "Boy,
-
time is short. I got to do this. How am
-
I going to get this done?" And and all
-
of a sudden in at dusk he pulls over
-
there's an old cemetery right next to
-
the road and he just pulled over and he
-
goes, "Look at that." What [laughter]
-
cemetery? Let's get out. So we got out
-
and we're walking through and it was it
-
was old like 1800. the tombstones are
-
written 1800 19 you know ear way way
-
back and and we're walking and it didn't
-
mean a thing to me cuz I know the truth
-
>> but but he was just all freaked spooked
-
out whatever and we got back in the
-
truck and he's visibly moved he looks at
-
me and he goes whoa that was amazing I
-
said what he said all them dead people
-
out there
-
I thought I GOT IT I GOT it I said those
-
people. They're not out there.
-
>> They're not That's just their bodies.
-
They buried their bodies. Their spirits
-
went somewhere else. And boy, I started
-
preaching the gospel. He He He did it to
-
himself. [laughter]
-
He did it to himself. Don't tell me that
-
those people are out there in the ground
-
cuz I know better. So, I preached a
-
sermon all the way home. By the time we
-
got home, he was sweating. I know he was
-
ready for me to get out of the truck. I
-
told him everything I knew about
-
salvation and and Jesus Christ and the
-
Savior. And we pulled into my driveway
-
and I said, "Look, I know this is a lot
-
for you." I said, "I'm ready to pray
-
with you right now if you want to pray.
-
If you don't, I have this booklet. I'm
-
going to leave this with you." He says,
-
"No, I I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm just not
-
ready to do that right now." I said,
-
"That's fine, but I had to tell you. I
-
had to tell you."
-
>> Are you getting the principle here?
-
>> How could I hide the most valuable thing
-
in the history of the world? How could I
-
hide from my friends who are on their
-
way to hell if something doesn't change
-
the answer, the solution to the greatest
-
problem in the world? And so, uh, he
-
didn't pray, but he took the booklet.
-
Most of them did pray, and they're
-
serving God today. He, on the other
-
hand, didn't pray, but he did get
-
married, and they are in church today.
-
Thank God they found it. But, but, but,
-
but, but I did my part. You don't have
-
to lead somebody all the way to do your
-
part. Just just just do what you can.
-
You know, all of us only help people as
-
much as they'll let us. And some people
-
let you do it more than others. And some
-
people may be a little offended, but we
-
uh and I just want you to be aware
-
because this is a day of harvest and
-
awakening. And there are people in your
-
life that you have influence with. And
-
not only that, you have a responsibility
-
to. Do you understand what I'm saying?
-
So, uh I I did a series on forgiveness.
-
And I I loved that series. I'd been I'd
-
studied it out and and it was called
-
forgiven or not. You're either forgiven
-
or you're not. If you're a Christian,
-
don't go around feeling guilty all the
-
time. And if you're not forgiven, you're
-
either forgiven of all your sins or none
-
of your sins. And so anyway, I just
-
dealt that dealt with that like four
-
messages and I got that series ready and
-
I and I've completed it and I went to
-
bed that night thinking, you know, I got
-
to do something on salvation. I got I've
-
got everything to take a person from
-
forgiveness all the way through to
-
spiritual growth, maturity, but I don't
-
have anything on salvation. And so I got
-
up the next morning and it just was
-
downloaded in my spirit. And I'm going
-
to share that with you. How many of
-
you'd like to have that? I'm going to
-
share that with you today. It came in an
-
instant. I went right to my media room
-
and I recorded it. It was about a
-
30-minute message. And I made this
-
booklet out of it. It's called It's
-
called Prepare to Meet Your Maker.
-
>> Are you ready for eternity? And and I
-
realized, you know, there's a lot of I I
-
actually designed this for our ministry
-
to to give to people electronically, not
-
in this form, but we put it on the
-
screen with a QR code and people can
-
download it right to their device. Isn't
-
that a cool alter call? You have people
-
come forward and say, "Now look, I want
-
you to know what happened to you.
-
There's a QR code. Download this
-
booklet." And in the in exchange for
-
that, we get their name and and address.
-
And so they fill out their own salvation
-
card, which I think is awesome. And so,
-
uh, anyway, I I I made that sermon into
-
this booklet, and it's not the only way
-
to reach people, but it's one way. I had
-
some friends that, uh, that don't
-
believe in God at all. And say, "Well,
-
they're your friend." Yeah, I'm the
-
preacher and they're the whatever, the
-
businessman, the lawyer, the whatever,
-
the atheist. And so, uh, I I I pretended
-
like I was sitting down with them. And
-
here's what I would want to tell them.
-
And I'm going to tell you, you want
-
this? All right. So the booklet, here's
-
the introduction. This booklet was
-
written for to prepare people for the
-
most important experience of their
-
existence, the moment they meet God. It
-
reveals four truths that everyone needs
-
to know before they pass into eternity.
-
It was written for Christians and
-
non-believers alike. It is a modern-day
-
plea for salvation and a road map to
-
obtain it. If you're not ready to meet
-
God or you know someone who isn't, this
-
booklet is for you. Ain't that good?
-
It's a good intro. So, so, uh, what came
-
to me was this, and and I'll read some
-
of this because I want to I I want to
-
say it properly, but but what what I
-
realized was you got people that are
-
very responsible in this world. They're
-
making sure that every order, their
-
finances, their family, their their
-
future. Uh, you know, they pre-plan and
-
prepare for everything. They have a will
-
and they have an estate and they have an
-
estate planner and they and everything's
-
in position and and and I thought these
-
people are very diligent, very think
-
forward. They're they have a lot of
-
forethought, but some of them have never
-
given a minute of thought to eternity.
-
And so I thought I'm going to I'm going
-
to try to appeal to their to their
-
intellect and logic and then I'm going
-
to give them the answer. How many of you
-
like that? Cuz because you want to
-
strike up some sort of, you know, they
-
already think we're judgmental.
-
>> Here's what they think about preachers
-
like me. They think you're judgmental
-
and you think they're all sinners and
-
you just want their money. That's the
-
two things they think. So I never talk
-
about money to them. They're I don't I
-
don't receive from them. I receive from
-
the body. And and I and I don't want to
-
uh make them think that I don't like
-
them because of the way they act because
-
God's not that that way. God hates the
-
sin, but he loves the sinner. And and
-
there's a difference. So, uh here here's
-
my intro or my my my the way to connect
-
to kind of get the the ball moving. You
-
can use this if you'd like. I think
-
anytime you sit down with a relative or
-
or a friend or family member that's
-
older uh that that's getting on up that
-
you have conversations just like this
-
about other things. So, here it is. Many
-
people spi spend years preparing for
-
retirement. Most spend more time
-
preparing for retirement than they spend
-
living in retirement.
-
Some make plans for their death by
-
prepaying and pre-planning their funeral
-
long before it happens. Now, if you
-
think it's awkward to ask somebody about
-
their eternal security, how would you
-
like to sell funerals to people before
-
they die? I mean, that's awkward. You
-
know, have you ever thought about your
-
funeral? Not really.
-
How would you like to buy it and plan it
-
right now? I don't think so. But but
-
they actually sell those. Some people
-
think ahead so much that they would
-
rather do their own funeral.
-
Well, if you can talk about that, you
-
can surely talk about life after death.
-
>> So, as well as making extensive
-
arrangements for their interests after
-
their passing, the dispersement of
-
funds, personal possessions, and
-
business interests, this is considered
-
being responsible and looking ahead. On
-
the other hand, many of these same
-
people don't spend one minute preparing
-
for eternity.
-
>> Now, we talk to the non-believers, not
-
sinners. They don't think they're
-
sinners. They're non-believers. How many
-
of you know that's changed in our
-
culture? You could say sinners.
-
Everybody knew what you thought. But you
-
say sinners now and they think you're
-
just judgmental.
-
What is sin? Okay, forget it. You're a
-
non-believer.
-
I think they would all raised their
-
hand. Yeah, I don't believe. I don't
-
believe what you believe. Okay. I don't
-
believe Jesus is God. I don't believe in
-
God. Fine. You're a non-believer. So,
-
um, non-believers
-
don't believe in God. And you can ask
-
them. You may not think it's necessary
-
to prepare for life after death.
-
But what if you're wrong? What if there
-
is a God? What if there is an eternal
-
destiny awaiting you? What if the
-
universe didn't happen accidentally and
-
there was a master designer behind the
-
creation of the world? If there is a
-
chance that there's a God, would you
-
want to enter into eternity never having
-
acknowledged him or thanked him for the
-
gift of life? Isn't that a great
-
thought?
-
I'm not out and out at this point
-
telling them there's a God. I'm saying,
-
what are the chances? There's got to be
-
some odds. I wish Las Vegas would give
-
us odds on, you know, I asked Chat GPT,
-
is there a God or is this all happened
-
accidentally? And even Chat believes
-
there's a God. Now Chat's not saved.
-
[laughter]
-
Chat don't have a soul to save. But but
-
you understand, I I said according to
-
the evidence, what do you and Chad
-
actually said it it appears there's some
-
kind of designer behind creation.
-
>> So there is chance.
-
You can't say there's no chance. There's
-
a chance. Everyone who owns a car buys
-
car insurance not because a wreck is
-
inevitable, but because there's always a
-
chance.
-
>> Most of us pay much more in insurance
-
premiums over our lifetime than we ever
-
receive in claims. But we still get
-
insurance, don't we?
-
>> Just in case.
-
Likewise, homeowners pay insurance to
-
cover damages or losses to their home
-
due to fire or flood. In Oklahoma,
-
there's only an 8% chance that
-
somebody's going to lose part or all of
-
their home due to a fire. 8%. And yet,
-
we have fire insurance.
-
Why? Because the risk is too great.
-
>> Can you imagine the risk re let's just
-
talk about risk.
-
>> Let's talk about riskreward.
-
If you're wrong and you don't buy
-
insurance for your house, which you have
-
to do that normally, but if you don't
-
and you lose your house, you lose
-
100,000, 200,000, 300, $500,000 worth of
-
value just like that. That's nothing
-
compared to being wrong about eternity
-
>> and not being ready to stand before
-
Almighty God.
-
The risk is great if I'm right, and I
-
am.
-
I don't say that at this point. You
-
understand? We're just kind of talking
-
about whatifs.
-
>> Only 8% of people in Oklahoma will
-
actually have a fire that destroys part
-
or all of their house. Most won't
-
experience a flood either, but each year
-
we pay out multiplied thousands of
-
dollars in insurance premiums. Such
-
disasters may never happen, but we pay
-
the money because there's a chance. And
-
no one thinks anything about it. It's
-
just being responsible. It's good
-
business. It's believing for the best
-
but preparing for the worst.
-
Do you, Mr. Mrs. non-believer, want to
-
be guilty of taking better care of your
-
house uh care of your car and your house
-
than your eternal soul?
-
Isn't that a great question? Are you
-
make making better preparations for your
-
earthly possessions than for your
-
eternal destiny?
-
When you look at the evidence, the Earth
-
with its seasons and beauty and the
-
delicate balance of nature, the
-
precision of the solar system, the
-
vastness and wonder of outer space, what
-
are the odds that they didn't just
-
happen? That didn't everything didn't
-
just come from nothing for no reason.
-
Did all of this order arise from chaos?
-
Have you ever seen anything like that
-
happen?
-
And science hasn't either. It's it goes
-
against the laws of science. the
-
universe really shouldn't even be here
-
if it weren't for an outside force.
-
>> And they've come to that conclusion, but
-
they just want to deny that there's a
-
God. But without an outside force that
-
supersedes the laws of thermodynamics,
-
which they've discovered, the universe
-
could not even be here. So something did
-
that. And it wasn't a big bang. It was a
-
big god. Okay, sorry. Got carried away.
-
I'm got to hold back, you know, at this
-
point.
-
If there's even the slightest
-
possibility that there's a God who
-
created you, don't you want to be ready
-
to meet him?
-
>> I'd like to share with you four Bible
-
truths to prepare you for the most
-
important moment of your life.
-
The moment when you meet God.
-
Isn't that awesome? That just came just
-
like that. And it's not the only way to
-
do this, you understand? But at least it
-
gets us thinking this direction. How can
-
I reach my friends? What makes them
-
tick? What are they concerned about? Are
-
they good business people? Are they
-
family oriented, relational? Do you want
-
to see your family again? Do you want to
-
see your loved ones again? And and
-
there's so many ways to get the
-
conversation started, but we need to
-
kind of plan on it, prepare for it,
-
focus on it, pray about it, say, "God, I
-
I don't have to convert them, but I do
-
need to share with them. I need to plant
-
these seeds in their hearts. And so, uh,
-
you can get this book. There's a few of
-
them back on the table if you'd like it.
-
But, uh, you can also download it. And
-
that's what I'd like for you to do. You
-
can download them. You can get this
-
whole booklet in electronic form by
-
email. You know what that means? You can
-
forward the email. Can you imagine just
-
giving putting this in someone's inbox?
-
It's non-confrontational.
-
It's everything they need to know about
-
salvation. Even if they know nothing,
-
they can read this and actually get
-
saved. And you can send it to them
-
electronically. It doesn't cost anything
-
and they can delete it if they want, but
-
they get to read it in the privacy of
-
their own home. And there's no one there
-
to argue with.
-
>> See the it's an electronic track. I
-
think it's a powerful tool. And so I you
-
have my permission to send it to
-
everyone you want. And if they get
-
angry, let them get mad at me.
-
Tell them I did it. So, four truths to
-
prepare any person to meet God. Number
-
one, not number one's my favorite. Now,
-
we stop the conversation. Now, we're
-
just going to preach to the spirit. You
-
understand? You're preaching to their
-
heart, not their head. And in their
-
heart, they know there's an eternity. In
-
their heart, they know there's right and
-
wrong. In their heart, they know there's
-
a God. So, you start. Now, we were
-
talking to the head, just trying to
-
break the ice. Now, we want to speak to
-
the heart. Number one, you will meet
-
God. You will meet God. Every created
-
being on the planet will stand before
-
Almighty God. It's not a question of if.
-
It's when it's going to happen. You are
-
going to stand before God. I am going to
-
stand before God. That is going to be
-
the most important moment of our
-
existence. It makes your natural birth
-
seem like minor stuff, like
-
kindergarten. You're going to stand
-
before God as an adult human being and
-
God's going to judge you
-
unless All right. So, you know, you've
-
heard the the phrase, there's nothing
-
sure except death and taxes. Well,
-
there's something even more sure than
-
death and taxes. You're going to stand
-
before God.
-
>> That day is coming and we're not going
-
to live forever. Hebrews 9:27 says, "It
-
is appointed to man once to die and
-
after this the judgment." Everybody's
-
going to die or be changed. How many of
-
you knew that? Our bodies are mortal.
-
That means they're death doomed. They're
-
not eternal. And there's no way. I saw a
-
report last week that we're this far
-
from from being able to get us, you
-
know, get the body to live forever.
-
Well, they're never going to close that
-
gap.
-
God said it is appointed to man once to
-
die. And we're going to die if we if
-
Jesus doesn't return. We're all going to
-
die. And then we're going to meet God.
-
Can you say amen?
-
>> Amen.
-
>> Now, let me read this to you. And then I
-
put this in the booklet and I thought,
-
you know what? We might as well tell the
-
truth. I don't want to sugarcoat
-
anything. But Revelation 20:1 says,
-
"Then I saw a great white throne and him
-
who sat on it, from whose face the earth
-
and heaven fled away, and there was
-
found no place for them. And I saw the
-
dead, small and great, standing before
-
God. And books were opened. And another
-
book was opened, which is the book of
-
life. And the dead were judged according
-
to their works by the things which were
-
written in the books."
-
That is a frightening
-
idea, is not? You're going to stand
-
before God and he's going to judge you
-
by the things written in the book.
-
Revelation 2013, they were judged each
-
one according to his works.
-
Revelation 2015, "And anyone not found
-
written in the book of life was cast
-
into the lake of fire." So, so, so, so
-
God's going to judge people according to
-
the things written in the books. And
-
what's written in the books, every
-
thought, every word, every action in
-
your entire life will be reviewed before
-
Almighty God, unless your name is
-
written in the other book, the book of
-
life.
-
>> So, thank God there's another book. And
-
it's up to you. It's up to me. It's up
-
to them to make sure their name is
-
written in the book of life. God's not
-
choosing favorites. He's not deciding
-
who's in and who's out. We do that
-
ourselves. We decide if we want to be in
-
the book of life. And and the only
-
reason someone's name would not be in it
-
is because they refuse to believe on the
-
name of Jesus Christ. You may think this
-
is not fair. How could be we be
-
responsible to a God that we've never
-
met?
-
That's a good question, isn't it?
-
>> He's invisible. How how am I
-
responsible? Because two things. Number
-
one, you exist.
-
>> You can't deny that you're here.
-
>> You didn't ask to be here. You didn't
-
make it happen. You were given the gift
-
of life.
-
You could be nothing like before you
-
were ever born, but no, you're here. You
-
have you're a being, a human being.
-
You've re received the gift of life. And
-
because of the evidence all around us,
-
we're obligated
-
to search for our creator.
-
>> We're obligated. There's too much
-
evidence to just live your life, live,
-
and let live, and we'll figure it out
-
after death. No, no, no. there's enough
-
evidence for you to begin to seek and
-
look and ask questions. And so you're
-
talking to their heart because their
-
heart's already feeling this.
-
Do you understand? We understand lost
-
people better than they understand
-
themselves cuz we've been where they are
-
and then we're where we are. So we can
-
look back and see you're you're
-
believing a lie. You think that you're
-
better than the next person so it'll be
-
fine for you. No. No. Your name has to
-
be written in the book of life. And
-
there's only one way to get your name
-
written in the book of life and it's to
-
believe on the author of life, Jesus
-
Christ.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> All right. So um
-
so one reason uh in fact Romans 1:20
-
says since the creation of the world his
-
invisible attributes are clearly seen
-
being understood by the things that are
-
made even his eternal power and godhead.
-
So that they people who deny God are
-
without excuse. So that's God's standard
-
not mine. This means people are capable
-
of doing it. They actually want to do
-
it. They're predis they're predisposed
-
to do it. We just need to give them a
-
little push. You you want to know why
-
you're here. You want to know the God
-
who created you. You want uh to to
-
understand and and receive value as a
-
human being. You know, if you say
-
everything happened accidentally and
-
there's no God, it it means life is of
-
no value.
-
>> If it was an accident, you can't go
-
ahead now and 6,000 years later and try
-
to add value to it. No, it was an
-
accident.
-
In fact, if it was an accident, there
-
would be no morals. Where did morality
-
even come from? Why can't we just kill
-
and eat people like we kill and eat
-
cows?
-
>> No, there's a God and there's a sense of
-
right and wrong. In every pray, even in
-
fallen world, they have a sense of
-
morality. That all comes from a higher
-
power. It doesn't come from an
-
accidental chemical reaction.
-
>> So, so they have this desire and and I
-
have another I only brought two things
-
here today. One of them, the the other
-
series I brought is called Finding a
-
Good God in an Evil World. And we ask
-
these questions and and I did it really
-
for the internet for people who are
-
searching, not for people who want to
-
argue. I have nothing to say to people
-
who want to argue. I don't want to argue
-
with them. I save that for home. No, I'm
-
[laughter] kidding.
-
Actually, that's a little true. I'm much
-
better arguer than my wife. [laughter]
-
But I have learned this. You can win the
-
battle and lose the war. So anyway,
-
[laughter]
-
uh when I'm preaching, I'm not preaching
-
to people that want to argue if that's
-
all they want to do. I'm preaching to
-
people who want to be convinced
-
>> cuz I believe there are good people out
-
there that want a reason to believe
-
there's a God. They want a reason to
-
believe that church is right. They want
-
to believe a reason to believe that
-
we're right and they're watching you.
-
They're following you. They may even be
-
criticizing you, but they're hoping
-
you'll make it. They're hoping that you
-
will will prove to them that there
-
really is a God, that Christianity has
-
value. And only you and I can do that
-
for them. We're the we're the most Jesus
-
they're ever going to see on this
-
planet.
-
>> We are.
-
>> So, we've got to live the life. But then
-
there comes a point where you got to we
-
got you you got to have the interaction.
-
>> Present the case.
-
>> And and I believe it's we're we're in
-
the verge on the verge of a great
-
awakening right now.
-
>> And and we want to be part of it. I want
-
my friends and my relatives and and my
-
co-workers, I want them to come on in
-
with us.
-
>> Yeah. And so God may want to use you to
-
be that person at least to plant that
-
seed. So first of all, you can't deny
-
that you're here. You exist. Number two,
-
you can't Everyone has a desire to know
-
why they're here, where they came from.
-
There's a human desire to know why am I
-
here. There's a desire, a a void that
-
only God can fill in the human heart.
-
And so we're speaking to that. And so
-
that desire to know God and to know
-
where God came from, we are encouraging
-
them follow that cuz that'll lead you to
-
God. How many of you know a desire to
-
find aliens won't lead you to aliens?
-
[laughter]
-
You know why? Cuz there aren't any.
-
We'll have that talk another time. But
-
[laughter] just
-
>> I've read the Bible through many times.
-
They're not in there. There's demons and
-
angels and there's peoples. Yeah. And
-
>> then there's giants and they're all
-
dead. You you understand?
-
>> So, so there's so much misguided effort
-
in this world, but the desire to know
-
God will always be met with God. The the
-
search for God will always end in
-
finding God.
-
>> Yeah.
-
>> So good.
-
>> And I can prove it to you here, but but
-
but let's go back. Deep down, everyone
-
has a desire to know where they came
-
from. Every human being has a void that
-
only God will fill. And it's important
-
to follow this urge and search for God.
-
Reach out, attempt to learn about him,
-
to find him. And I've said this before,
-
but if scientists would would search as
-
hard for God as they have for aliens,
-
they'd have found him by now.
-
>> Why say, "Well, how can it be fair? He's
-
he's invisible. He's hidden so he can be
-
found.
-
>> He's not hidden to tease you. He's not
-
hidden. So, some can and some can't.
-
He's hidden because that's the best way
-
to do this. And and I've explained this
-
before. I'll say it again because this
-
is my sermon and say what I want.
-
But my job would be so much easier if
-
God would just reveal himself.
-
And I could quit all this preaching
-
trying to get people to believe things
-
they can't see. It's frustrating
-
sometimes.
-
It's frustrating when people don't agree
-
with me. I love it when they agree.
-
Right. Right, Carol. Thank [laughter]
-
you. Thank you.
-
I love that.
-
But he's not hidden. He's He's not
-
hidden so he can't be found. He's hidden
-
so he can be found. He wants to be
-
found. He's made himself findable on
-
purpose. Because if God himself were to
-
reveal himself to the world, it would
-
blow the world away. Everyone would
-
surrender. Not by choice, but by force.
-
that
-
>> everyone would just say, "Okay, whatever
-
you want. You're you're you're the most
-
powerful thing I've ever seen." And I
-
give this illustration, but in World War
-
II, the the Japanese were relentless
-
warriors. Surrender was not in their
-
vocabulary. They fought to the death.
-
They would rather use their empty plane
-
as a missile than to surrender. And
-
which is where the kamicazis came from.
-
They would not surrender. They would go
-
on islands and fight to the last man.
-
Our troops would have to go on the
-
island and kill every single Japanese.
-
They would not surrender until uh the
-
United States dropped two atomic bombs
-
on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It killed
-
200,000 people instantly. Guess what
-
happened next? Japan surrendered
-
unconditionally.
-
They weren't going to ever consider that
-
until that display of power brought them
-
to their knees. Now, they didn't
-
surrender by choice. They surrendered by
-
force.
-
>> That's not a family environment.
-
>> God wanted a family.
-
>> He didn't want slaves. He didn't want
-
people that were obligated and forced to
-
serve him. That's why he doesn't force
-
people. He invites people.
-
In fact, the Bible says this and and if
-
you think about this is one of the most
-
remarkable scriptures in the Bible.
-
Jesus himself, the resurrected Christ,
-
the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the
-
man with a name above every every name,
-
the most powerful entity that's ever
-
been on this planet, said this, "Behold,
-
I stand at the door and knock."
-
>> What? Knock?
-
>> Why don't you just knock it down?
-
He's Jesus. Yeah,
-
>> he could do anything. We wouldn't have a
-
door
-
>> if it weren't for him.
-
>> It's his door.
-
>> And yet, he's knocking. Why? Because he
-
wants this to be a joint effort. He
-
wants people to search for him and find
-
him.
-
>> Isn't that powerful?
-
>> So, so here's the scripture.
-
Jeremiah 29:11. And this was the most
-
This was the greatest revelation in this
-
whole booklet is Jeremiah 29:11. I
-
already knew it, but it's powerful. It
-
says, "I know the thoughts that I think
-
toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of
-
peace and not of evil to give you a
-
future and a hope." [clears throat]
-
And then he and he goes on, so he wants
-
to do good things for you. And we'll
-
talk about that in a minute. But then he
-
says, "Then you will call upon me and go
-
and pray to me
-
>> and I will listen to you and you will
-
seek me and find me when you search for
-
me with all your heart."
-
That is a spiritual law.
-
>> That's why we got to encourage people.
-
Just try it. Search for God. Go into an
-
empty room and turn your head toward
-
heaven and talk to an invisible God and
-
see if you don't find something. We did
-
it.
-
>> We're not special. We're not We're not
-
just one of a kind. We're we're just
-
humans like everyone else. And at one
-
point or another, we got desperate
-
enough to SAY, "GOD, SHOW ME YOU'RE
-
REAL." And he did. And now there's no
-
doubt about it. I don't have to see him.
-
I don't have to feel him. I don't have
-
to go into his throne room and look into
-
his I know there's a God in heaven and I
-
know he lives in me today.
-
>> They can have the same knowledge. Don't
-
let them act like they're incapable of
-
it. They are capable, fully capable. God
-
has put himself within everyone's reach
-
>> because the way to access God is by
-
faith. And everybody can believe
-
whatever they want. And let me tell you,
-
it takes more faith to believe that
-
everything came from nothing for no
-
reason than to believe that in the
-
beginning God created the heavens and
-
the that's easy after you look at their
-
>> version. I don't know how anybody
-
believes that.
-
>> Come on.
-
>> So anyone who comes to God must believe
-
that he is. That's not a very high bar.
-
Don't let them act like it is. It's not.
-
>> It's very low. You can just step over
-
that one.
-
>> I believe there's a God.
-
So, so we appeal to that part of them.
-
If you'll seek him, and I can promise
-
you that these atheists have never done
-
this,
-
>> they've never search for him with all
-
their heart. Why? Because if you do,
-
you'll find him.
-
>> It's a spiritual law. Seek and you will.
-
>> God's not hidden so he can be missed.
-
He's hidden so he can be found.
-
>> Did you get that?
-
>> And we make that clear to them. It'll
-
answer a lot of questions that they may
-
have. All right. So, I'm going to give
-
you the four points and then I So,
-
number one, does anybody know what
-
number one is? You will meet God.
-
Number two, all have sinned.
-
Number three, Christ died for your sins.
-
Number four, you must be born again.
-
I'm telling you, those four truths, I
-
have meditated these. I got them
-
instantly that day. But I've looked at
-
them and I think there's not a better
-
way to to unveil salvation. You have to
-
have these four. You have to believe
-
these four points. It's very very
-
important. So number two, all have
-
sinned. I believe it's important to say
-
it that way to let them understand.
-
You're not saying you're a sinner. They
-
are, but we're not going to say it that
-
way. Sin was universal. We were all in
-
the same boat. We were all sinners
-
because of what Adam did. Adam's sin
-
passed down to all of us. We were all
-
born in sin. The wages of sin is death.
-
And and we were there's none righteous.
-
No, not one. We're all lost and undone
-
without God. All those things are true
-
about everyone.
-
>> Can you say amen?
-
>> All right. So So So you will meet God.
-
The reason that's a fearful thing is
-
because all have sinned. You're not
-
ready to meet God.
-
>> So you're going to meet him as a sinner.
-
You see, if they don't understand the
-
the the gravity of their situation, then
-
then they're not going to be open to a
-
savior, which is is where we're leading
-
them. So, if they don't think there's
-
any need to be saved, they're not going
-
to be open to a savior. You ever been to
-
a public pool and tried to swim with a
-
lifeguard with always blowing a whistle
-
and yelling at everyone? They're so
-
annoying.
-
And then every so often they tell
-
everybody to get out of the pool. What
-
for? A lifeguard break. What do you mean
-
a [laughter] life guard? All you do is
-
sit there. Why can't you just like
-
you need a break from sitting?
-
Anyway, get off the rope. I never
-
understood that. [snorts] Ropes were
-
made to get on to pull on. [laughter]
-
That's like you're Why do I have to get
-
off the rope? But you Anyway, they're
-
annoying
-
until
-
>> someone's drowning.
-
>> Yes.
-
>> Then it all change. I used to be a
-
lifeguard. I know. Somebody jumped off
-
the board, they go down. Then it's like,
-
"Where's that guy?" And then you got to
-
go save someone. And then you become the
-
most popular person at the pool.
-
[laughter]
-
If people don't know they're in danger
-
of hell, if they don't know how bad the
-
sinful condition is, they're not going
-
to be open to a savior. So, we have to
-
to to make them understand that we were
-
all sinners and lost without God and
-
without a mediator. When you stand
-
before God, he's going to review all of
-
your thoughts, all your words, all of
-
your deeds for all of your life and
-
judge accordingly. No one wants that.
-
>> Say, well, why can't we just, you know,
-
I think a lot of people have this
-
philosophy. We'll just wait. You know,
-
we'll do the best we can. I'm not the
-
worst person in my neighborhood. I'm in
-
the top 50%.
-
Okay. I mean, I'm not perfect, but I and
-
I have room for improvement, but I'm not
-
the worst. And I'm sure that when it all
-
comes down and when we go to the other
-
side, if there is one, that the good man
-
upstairs is going to have compassion on
-
me. And I'm sure I'll make it. And you
-
you I mean, you can never really know
-
till you get there. We can't let them
-
have that out because that's not true.
-
And and when they understand that that
-
there is none righteous, know not one,
-
that we're all by nature the children of
-
wrath just as others. We inherited that
-
from Adam. We're not fit to go to
-
heaven. We're not ready to meet God in
-
our in our sinful condition.
-
Does that make sense?
-
>> People People sin because they are by
-
nature sinners.
-
So you can't just deal with the sin. You
-
got to deal with the sinner. You got to
-
have that meteor, that savior save you
-
from yourself. And only Jesus can do
-
that.
-
>> And then you always get this question,
-
how could a good God,
-
>> how could a good God send anyone to
-
hell? I just don't see how a good God
-
could send anyone to hell. Well, let me
-
ask another question. And I think this
-
is more appropriate. How could a
-
righteous God
-
>> send anyone to heaven?
-
>> That's a good question, isn't it? How
-
could a righteous, holy God let any one
-
of us sinful people go to heaven? How
-
could he possibly do that? There's only
-
one answer to both questions. It's
-
through Jesus Christ.
-
>> See, here's what it says. This is
-
powerful. John 3:18, he who believes in
-
him is not condemned.
-
Uhhuh.
-
>> But he who does not believed is
-
condemned already. Welcome to the state
-
of the human race without Christ.
-
They're already condemned. God's not
-
sending anyone to hell. We did that to
-
ourselves. It started in the Garden of
-
Eden and we've carried out the tradition
-
and we're all headed the same direction
-
and without divine intervention, nobody
-
would make it to heaven.
-
>> Everybody would end up in hell. It's not
-
personal. It's it's a it's a it's a
-
matter of of of righteousness and
-
justice.
-
>> And the only way God could be just and
-
merciful is to send his son to die on
-
the cross.
-
>> There there his justice is satisfied and
-
his mercy is satisfied. Jesus did it for
-
us. Isn't that good?
-
Uh so so um
-
all have sinned. Once you understand
-
that this next point becomes good news.
-
Christ died for your sins. No one else
-
did. No one else could have.
-
The wages of sin is what?
-
>> Death. We all deserve that. Christ died
-
for our sins according to the
-
scriptures. Isaiah 53:5. He was wounded
-
for our transgressions. He was bruised
-
for our iniquities. The chastisement of
-
our peace was upon him. By his stripes
-
were healed. He was numbered. Isaiah
-
53:12. He was numbered with the
-
transgressors and he bore the sin of
-
many and made intercession for the
-
transgressors. And then my favorite
-
gospel presentation is 1 Corinthians
-
15:3 and 4. I delivered to you first of
-
all that which I also received that
-
Christ died for our sins according to
-
the scriptures. He was buried and he
-
rose again the third day according to
-
the scriptures.
-
>> Don't you love it?
-
>> The resurrection's pivotal. They got to
-
believe in the resurrection. You could
-
spend some time talking about that. But
-
here's the point. If he died for our
-
sins, if death was the wage of sin and
-
he died for our sins and he's still
-
dead, it hadn't been paid for.
-
>> Right?
-
If that tomb's not empty, if his body is
-
still dead, then then that that that
-
price has not yet been paid. But if he
-
died for our sins and he's alive,
-
>> then this the price was paid.
-
>> So we must preach, believe, get a
-
confession of a resurrection.
-
First Peter 1:3 says, "He's begotten us
-
again to a living hope through the
-
resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
-
Then the fourth point, now we'll go
-
through them again. Number one, you will
-
meet God. Number two, all have sinned.
-
So that's a terrifying proposition.
-
Number three,
-
Jesus died for our sins. How many of you
-
know this is real simple,
-
but but you know, if we know it backward
-
and forward, we can sit in a truck in
-
the rain with a friend and be able to
-
have a conversation and know exactly
-
where we're going.
-
I I knew where I was going before I got
-
in the truck. He didn't, but I did. So,
-
I was able to steer it. You know, Jesus
-
used the same method over and over
-
again. He's at the well with the woman
-
at the well, and he's asking for a
-
drink. She gets offended o over water
-
and he goes, "You know what? Let's talk
-
about water. I'll give you water and if
-
you drink this, you'll never thirst
-
again." And she was like, "Oh, I want
-
this water." Well, how'd they get
-
started on water? They were standing at
-
a well.
-
And then Jesus made the loaves and
-
fishes and they came the next day and
-
said, "Lord, give us some more bread
-
from heaven." And he said, "I am the
-
bread."
-
>> It's like, you want to talk about bread?
-
I can bring up the gospel and from any
-
direction you want to go. I'll bring it
-
back to you. That's what I love about
-
Billy Graham and Franklin Graham. They
-
could be on a a news show, flatout new
-
secular news, and they'll go, "What do
-
you think about the price of eggs in
-
China?" And they'll go, "You know what?
-
I just don't know about eggs in China,
-
but I know this that Jesus Christ came
-
and died for our sins." And and you're
-
like, "What?" [laughter]
-
Salvation. He's offered salvation to the
-
whole world. We we need to be
-
evangelistic in our thinking. Not in an
-
>> not in a religious way and and not in an
-
annoying. I don't like awkward. I don't
-
like annoying.
-
>> And I still like Robert. Isn't that
-
cool? I [laughter] mean, miracles do
-
happen.
-
I say that cuz he's the most unan he's
-
the smoothest
-
he's the smoothest MC in the building,
-
is he not? And I and I do like him
-
>> a little bit. He's he's growing on me.
-
All right, never mind.
-
>> Thank you, Robert. Appreciate that. Um,
-
[snorts]
-
[clears throat]
-
so, so, so Jesus, he used seeds and
-
trees and mountains
-
to teach us about faith. Look at it.
-
It's in there.
-
>> There's a tree. Let me tell you about
-
this tree. You could move a mountain.
-
See that mountain? You can move the
-
mountain. Or how about a seed? You take
-
a seed and plant. He he used whatever
-
subject was at hand to to it wasn't do
-
you know where you're going to go if you
-
die today.
-
You're going to turn or burn sinners.
-
You know I I just some of these messages
-
just don't resonate today. You know what
-
I'm saying? We we've got an a culture
-
that's offended by everything and
-
ashamed of nothing.
-
>> There's nothing you can and so we we
-
really need to try to reach them as much
-
as we can without compromise. But we we
-
at least if we can talk to them about
-
life insurance and pre-planning a
-
funeral. You know, if if you have
-
funeral plan planners, wedding planners,
-
estate planners, financial planners, why
-
can't you have an eternity planner?
-
>> I'm going to put that on my desk.
-
Eternity planner
-
>> right here.
-
>> What about my fin? I have not a clue.
-
But I can tell you how to live with God
-
forever. Tell you that.
-
>> How about prepare for forever,
-
>> man? I knew a guy who worked his whole
-
life. He worked six days a week his
-
whole life. Barely took any time off.
-
Retired at at 65 and died in a he was
-
going to travel the world and he died in
-
a week.
-
>> There's nothing, you know, sure, but
-
death and taxes and the fact that you
-
will meet God.
-
>> You need to be ready for that moment.
-
So, you must be born again. Jesus said,
-
"Unless one is born again, he cannot see
-
the kingdom of God." He said, "I say
-
unto you, unless one is born of the
-
water, water and the spirit, he cannot
-
enter the kingdom of God." That means
-
you have to be born first as a as a
-
human baby and then you have to be born
-
again as a spiritual new new creation.
-
And in other in order to see the kingdom
-
of God and he said, "Do not marvel that
-
I said you must be born again." Being
-
born again is a life-changing
-
experience. There's nothing like it on
-
the on the planet. It's the most radical
-
transformation you could ever
-
experience. And it happens in your
-
spirit. When you look at someone's body,
-
you can't tell if they've been born
-
again or not. But in eternity, it'll be
-
very evident who is and who isn't. The
-
reason we have to be born again is
-
because we don't just sin. We're
-
sinners. We sin because we're sinners.
-
Our nature's corrupt. It's at enmity
-
with God. It was passed down from Adam.
-
We had no way out of it. Either God had
-
to do away with the entire human race or
-
provide an answer and let whosoever will
-
come and accept his answer. And he chose
-
the latter. If he hadn't have, we
-
wouldn't be here.
-
>> How many of you are glad we're here
-
>> that we have an opportunity to choose?
-
But I'm going to tell you, you have to
-
choose. And you have to do it in this
-
life.
-
It [clears throat] when you're born
-
again, the sinful nature you inherited
-
through Adam's sin passes away. It was
-
crucified with Christ. You become a new
-
person with a new nature. Isn't that
-
awesome?
-
>> If anyone's in Christ, he's a new
-
creation. Old things have passed away.
-
Behold, all things have become new. Do
-
you want to become a new creation? Do
-
you want to get rid of the sin nature,
-
become the righteousness of God in an
-
instant? You can do that by one simple
-
confession of faith.
-
The truth is people ought to be running
-
to God, not running away from God. He
-
wants to give you a future and a hope.
-
There's a lot of people out there that
-
think if there is a God, he must really
-
be mad at me. How many of you know how
-
many people think that?
-
>> I told you I was at the lake one time
-
and trying to build a fire and cook. I
-
don't know if I've told that here, but I
-
was trying to cook on on the on the
-
beach and they knew I was a preacher
-
because they asked me five times what I
-
did and I didn't want to tell them. So,
-
I didn't want it to be awkward and it is
-
awkward. Anyway, I told him I was a
-
preacher. So, I'm the preacher. So, I'm
-
trying to build this fire and cook
-
something on the grill and this guy's
-
following me around and he goes, "I cuss
-
too much." And I said,
-
"What?" He said, "Yeah, I cuss too much,
-
but I don't cuss around my kids."
-
>> [laughter]
-
>> Okay, that's just a half a point against
-
you. Whatever. I mean, what do you want
-
me to say? [laughter]
-
And then and then so I didn't say
-
anything. I said, ' Okay. And so we're
-
and I keep cooking and he says, "I drink
-
too much." I said, "What?" [laughter] He
-
said, "But I don't get drunk. Just just
-
drink." Another half a point.
-
>> [laughter]
-
>> And then a few minutes later, it's like
-
he everybody, you know, there's a
-
segment of the population that knows
-
just enough about God to think he's mad
-
at him.
-
>> And he said, he finally said, I don't
-
read my Bible enough.
-
Well, that's it. You're going straight
-
to hell. No.
-
I said I finally just said I said called
-
him by his name. I said, "Christianity
-
is not a bunch of rules and regulations.
-
It's not about doing more good than you
-
do bad and you go to heaven. It's about
-
a personal relationship with Jesus
-
Christ. And when you're ready for that,
-
you come tell me and I'll help you with
-
that."
-
>> You go, "Oh, okay." And you know, he
-
did. He did. Later on, he did.
-
>> So, you don't have to uh do the whole
-
thing all at once. And you may never be
-
able to complete the deal, but somebody
-
will. and and and these people you're
-
praying for, God brings them to your
-
heart and your mind for a reason. You
-
can target them with prayer. You know,
-
some people might not be ready right
-
now. Some people all you can do is just
-
love them and show them that you love
-
them. And that means to them that God
-
loves them. They say, "Well, you're not
-
like all the rest." Well, you don't know
-
all the rest.
-
>> You're not like all those hypocrites in
-
church. Well, you never been to church
-
cuz there aren't any hypocrites here.
-
>> You see what I mean? But they got all
-
these ideas in their head. And and you
-
you can blow all that away by being real
-
and by targeting them and realizing
-
here's how much I can help this one and
-
this one I've got to tell because we're
-
too close not to. I've got to tell them
-
and this one I'll pray for them that
-
somebody else will tell them. You
-
understand when I'm take authority over
-
your world and reach out to those in
-
your world. And if we all do that, boy,
-
I've been studying this lately,
-
meditating, and it's such a powerful
-
thought. You may think, well, my life's
-
just not worth much. Well, who are you
-
to value your life? And first of all,
-
you're worth what somebody's willing to
-
pay for you. Now, I wouldn't give a dime
-
for you. [laughter]
-
I'm kidding.
-
But Jesus paid the ultimate price for
-
you according to what he paid for. You
-
are priceless.
-
>> And that's before you do anything. YOU
-
DON'T HAVE TO DO anything and you're
-
already priceless.
-
>> Thank you, Lord.
-
>> Oh my goodness.
-
>> And you may think, well, I don't have
-
much influence. Well, who does? I did
-
this study. Did you know that there's 10
-
to 15 billion people in the body of
-
Christ since Jesus death, burial, and
-
resurre to 15 billion? So, what does
-
that mean? We're all just a small part
-
of this.
-
>> There ain't nobody big in that with
-
those numbers.
-
So, if you're reaching five or 10 or 15
-
or or one, you're part of the 15 billion
-
and you're part of making the body of
-
Christ the greatest force on earth.
-
You're part of something that's going to
-
live forever.
-
>> So, you're just as valuable as anyone
-
else. You can't you can't look at your
-
value that way because none of us are
-
big deal
-
>> in the body of We're all small parts of
-
a big work.
-
>> So, you reach your world. I reach my
-
world. You you reach those in your
-
sphere of influence and make sure
-
nobody's left untouched either by prayer
-
or by personal witness or by friendship
-
or by a good work. if God will show you
-
how to reveal him to them.
-
>> I have friends that had no concept of
-
church and had no desire to ever go to
-
church. And I knew I can't preach to
-
them. All I can do is is prove to them
-
that I love them
-
>> and they at least they'll know a
-
preacher. They got my number,
-
>> but I couldn't preach at them. I
-
couldn't preach to them. I didn't have
-
that kind of entrance in their life. And
-
I knew this is how far you can go no
-
more.
-
>> Are are you with me today? It's more
-
intentional than just a scattershot or
-
trying to witness to strangers. And we
-
can do that and we need to have crusades
-
and witness to strangers. But those
-
people in your life are special.
-
>> So all right. So you get them ready to
-
pray and there's no better place to go.
-
There's just no other place to go in the
-
Bible than Romans 10:9. How many of you
-
know what it says? You bring them there
-
and you say, "Here's what you do. You
-
want to believe on Jesus. You want to
-
have your name written in the book of
-
life. You want to be saved, born again,
-
have everlasting life. Here it is.
-
>> Believe in your heart that God raised
-
Jesus from the dead, and confess with
-
your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and you
-
shall be saved. For the heart man
-
believes under righteous. With the mouth
-
confession is made under salvation.
-
That's what you do. Say, "Well, that's
-
too simple." No, it's it's simple, but
-
it's not too simple.
-
So, well, that just makes it too easy.
-
Well, it's free. How hard can it be?
-
It's already free.
-
If somebody's giving you a gift, how
-
hard is it to receive it?
-
>> You got to open your hand.
-
>> Yeah, you just have to open your hand.
-
Say, "I'll take that." He's not going to
-
push it on you. That's the problem. He's
-
not going to force you, but he's
-
certainly ready anytime you are. And he
-
will respond to those who want to pray
-
that simple prayer and make that simple
-
confession. And I know there's other
-
people teaching other things and and and
-
condemning us for preaching the simple
-
gospel, but I've read the Bible for
-
myself. I got saved by believing Romans
-
10:9. I know it works.
-
>> And I've seen lots of people saved with
-
this same verse, this same simple
-
prayer. I don't call it the sinner's
-
prayer. I call it the salvation prayer.
-
>> Say, are you afraid to say, "No, I just
-
don't want to offend someone before they
-
hear what I have to say. Excuse me.
-
>> So, so I want to offer the salvation
-
prayer and it's so easy. Uh, anyone can
-
do it. Anyone can lead someone else to
-
the Lord by using Romans 10:9. You just
-
confess with your mouth that Jesus is
-
Lord. He made it pretty simple, didn't
-
he?
-
>> God didn't want this to be beyond
-
anyone's reach. He wanted everyone and
-
anyone to be able to get saved whenever
-
they want. He made it so clear. He's
-
over and over in the gospels, over and
-
over in the in the New Testament, he he
-
talks about salvation, eternal life,
-
being born again. And uh and he wants us
-
to make sure to get that one. You know,
-
the whole point of life, of your
-
existence, is to be born on this planet
-
in this universe to come to some sort of
-
self-awareness
-
and seek and find God.
-
If you do that, you have really embraced
-
the reason for your being.
-
We get so hung up on, well, I haven't
-
done this much or my life seems. Did you
-
know even if you were prisoner in a in
-
in death row and you were in solitary
-
confinement, you could still live that
-
life for God?
-
>> Yeah.
-
>> Wherever you are, whatever you feel like
-
your limitations are, you can use that
-
life and live it for God. fact, and this
-
is controversial probably today, but
-
Paul talked to slaves and said, "If
-
you're a slave, be a good one.
-
>> Be a good slave. Be be good to your
-
master, especially if they're a
-
believer."
-
It's like, "What? Why don't we just
-
abolish slavery?" Well, that's coming.
-
Did you know the gospel helped abolish
-
slavery? But there were generations of
-
people that lived as slaves, and God's
-
message was there is no wasted life. No
-
one's life is lived in vain. I don't
-
care if you're in prison, if you're a
-
slave. If you're a slave, you're
-
Christ's free man. If you're free,
-
you're Christ's slave. No one's life is
-
worthless. No one's life is everyone's
-
life has value.
-
>> And you don't have to wait for society
-
to change or for the world to change for
-
your life to count. It counts right
-
here, right now in this world. And and
-
boy, when you know that,
-
>> then you can do what you do. It's just
-
gravy. You've already made the right
-
decision. and you've already realized
-
the the purpose for your existence
-
>> is to find and know God.
-
>> And that's true for everyone you know.
-
Amen.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> Amen. Well, I've said enough. Why don't
-
we stand up?
-
>> Let's stand up together. Thank you for
-
being patient.
-
I hope that you'll take these four
-
points and and and you know what, just
-
use them um for yourself. You can adapt
-
them to your own use. [snorts] I I'm I
-
really wanted to share these things just
-
this is how God showed it to me. This is
-
how I always preach salvation now. But
-
um but but but it's it's not
-
complicated. And just to get you
-
thinking in this direction, I think is a
-
help. And of how many of you believe
-
that it is a help? And and [music] there
-
are people in your life probably that
-
will be targeted from this day forward.
-
You didn't know really what to do with
-
them. Listen, first thing you do is just
-
pray for them and say, "God, give me an
-
opportunity. I need to I need to talk to
-
that one."
-
>> And you pray for them until God helps
-
you work that opportunity because he
-
will. He He will. And others, you're
-
like, there's nothing I could say to
-
convince them. But I'll pray for them
-
and that situations, circumstances,
-
people will come into their life that
-
will be able to talk to them. But I can
-
love them and I can treat them like
-
they're valuable
-
and and and not and not condemn them. I
-
don't condemnation's really not useful
-
in any in any setting. Conviction. Now
-
that's another thing.
-
But the Holy Spirit does that. Isn't
-
that great? Amen. Would you bow your
-
heads? Father, thank you for the Holy
-
Spirit who's here to help us. And we
-
pray that you help us reach the world.
-
and we have been actively involved in
-
reaching the world. I don't think any
-
church has done more with what they've
-
had than this church to reach the world.
-
It's a privilege and an honor to stand
-
here and to say that after these years,
-
but we also want to reach our world.
-
We want to reach those that you've put
-
in our life. And we pray over them. Show
-
us in the days to come, Holy Spirit,
-
those that are ripe, those that are
-
ready, those that need to hear
-
something. and give us words to speak in
-
their behalf.
-
Help us to sew the seeds
-
in their heart. Hallelujah.
-
Praise God. Praise God. Praise God
-
that you minister through us.
-
And then when they're saved, and I put
-
this in the little booklet, get in a
-
church that preaches the word of God.
-
Tell them what happened to you. Get
-
[music] materials. Begin to read your
-
Bible. Pray. Get in a room and pray and
-
talk to God.
-
It's stuff that we know, but boy, we
-
need to. It needs to be on the tip of
-
our tongues. We need to be ready to
-
share it.
-
And And whether you sew the seed or pray
-
the prayer,
-
know this that God's word does not
-
return void. And I I've said this
-
before, but I believe it with all my
-
heart. One of the most often asked
-
questions in heaven is going to be,
-
"What are you doing here?
-
How did you make it?"
-
Because there'll be people who have
-
rejected God their whole life that'll
-
get saved on their deathbed because the
-
seeds of the gospel were sowed in their
-
life. Don't write anyone off. You don't
-
know where they went. You do not know.
-
And God is not looking for reasons to
-
banish people from heaven. He's looking
-
for any way to let them in. And I
-
believe it can even happen when they're
-
unconscious on their deathbed. Their
-
spirit still active. I believe they can
-
take knowledge of the things that
-
they've received, the words that they've
-
heard and make a decision right then and
-
there that nobody even realizes they
-
made. And so let's let's just keep the
-
faith. Stay faithful. Amen.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> Amen. [music]
-
Well, you know, I might as well give
-
some of these away. I brought some and
-
and then there's some back there. We we
-
just charge $5 for these. And somebody
-
says, "What is the volume discount?"
-
That is the volume discount. I can't do
-
one of these for much less than that.
-
That's It costs so much nowadays to
-
print anything. But anyway, the booklet
-
form is $5. Greg, would you help me give
-
these out to a few people?
-
>> I mean, not Greg.
-
>> Matt, I get you mixed up with Greg. It's
-
It's the beard.
-
All you young people look alike to me,
-
except for Robert. Now, I can see Robert
-
in a crowd. I won't tell you how, but he
-
sticks out. He
-
And this is that series, Finding a Good
-
God in an Evil World. And what we did
-
here, I've spent a lot of time putting
-
this together. I found evidence for
-
people who want to be convinced. Again,
-
I'm not an apologist and I don't argue
-
and debate, but for those who want to be
-
convinced, we found evidence for God in
-
science, space, nature, literature, and
-
history. Everywhere you look, God's left
-
his fingerprints. And and once you begin
-
to see that you can go in any area. So,
-
it was a fun thing. And then we talk
-
about in here the invisible God. And
-
then I preach this message, prepare to
-
meet your maker. It's all in this
-
series. And these are back there as
-
well. You can have one of these. These
-
are CDs. Who has who still does CDs? and
-
you want this. Do you have a CD player?
-
Well, come on. You can have it. I'm just
-
glad somebody wanted it. Like,
-
>> no. I appreciate that.
-
>> Thank you.
-
>> Thank you guys. And I think I'm going to
-
turn this. Robert, forgive me for
-
anything I might have said. I I see that
-
you get the mic last. I wasn't thinking
-
ahead, but come on. and and try to be
-
nice.
