Welcome to the First Apostolic Church podcast.
-
Our church mission is to love as God loves, showing compassion to
-
every soul, thus winning those souls and equipping them to be
-
sent out to plant and to harvest.
-
Thank you for joining us today and we hope that you are blessed
-
by today's podcast. Hallelujah.
-
Hallelujah, someone say speak Lord.
-
Hallelujah. You'll be returning to your
-
seats tonight. Amen.
-
Please remember tomorrow night is power hour and power hours
-
and intersecting with the National Day of Prayer.
-
Amen. Tomorrow's the National Day of
-
Prayer, so power hours intersecting with that.
-
And so our focus is going to be in prayer along the lines of the
-
National Day of Prayer theme and also Mother's Day.
-
We're kind of doing both. It's going to be a smash up of
-
the the theme for the National Day of Prayer and Mother's Day,
-
Amen. Tomorrow night as we pray with
-
corporate prayer, Amen. And so that's something to keep
-
in mind. A few of us have Indiana
-
District Spring Conference, that's this weekend, Friday and
-
Saturday in Newcastle, Amen. And our very own brother Alex
-
Mason's going to be speaking at an informed talk on Saturday at
-
our conference. And so we're thankful Amen for
-
that God using him and his representation Amen in the
-
district. Don't forget that Monday is
-
Indiana district camp meeting registration opens be opening at
-
4:00 Central Standard Time. All right, So be very prompt if
-
you have plans on going to secure your room, Amen and your
-
registration for that next Tuesday or by say next Tuesday,
-
next Tuesday, May the 7th is Mom's night out.
-
I know they just had AI should say ladies night out.
-
Let me revamp that. I know you're saying they just
-
had a ladies thing not long ago. Who cares?
-
So they're going to have a ladies night out.
-
Amen believes they're going to be leaving at 5:30 from the
-
church here. And so if if you can go, please
-
go. So just to Princeton, they're
-
not going all the way to Evansville this time, but
-
they're going to go to Princeton and some of them will probably
-
shut Princeton down. Amen.
-
So if you need to go drive by yourself, even drive, or if you
-
want to be a part of that, you can go, Amen.
-
And so that'll be a good time as well.
-
Also, please, it's out there. It's there that May, the 12th,
-
that Sunday, which is Mother's Day, we're having our Mother's
-
Day talk show to be taking place right here at First Apostolic
-
Church. Continue sharing that.
-
Get the word out about that. We'll probably have some other
-
posts and videos and things of that nature that will help
-
promote that, Amen. As well, it's not that far away.
-
It's just around the corner. You'll blink your eyes and this
-
month will be over. I know it just started.
-
I'm just telling you, this is how it goes.
-
Amen, Amen. So just keep your eye open on
-
that also. And I'm just going to tell us
-
here tonight also coming into the weekend as well is going to
-
be the International Firefighters, Firefighters Day.
-
All right, That happens on May 4th.
-
And so that's something that we will be putting forth a post and
-
such from from the church. Please share that.
-
We have a lot of people invested in firefighting and have for
-
several years here at the church and have served in several
-
different capacities over the years.
-
And so please share that. Get the word out.
-
As a church, we're going to be providing a meal for our
-
firefighters during one of their monthly meetings here in the
-
month of May for a sense of appreciation.
-
And such a sister Angie is heading up.
-
And so we're going to be doing that.
-
And so also in the month of May is National Teachers Day
-
appreciation. And the week of that, this
-
church is going to be hitting all three of our schools here
-
within the community. And we're going to be providing
-
kind of some breakfast treats, kind of like a continental type,
-
more like breakfast type things, doughnuts and things of that
-
nature to show appreciation to our teachers as well.
-
Believe it's very important to do that within our community.
-
You know, my theory, want to be more seen as a hand that gives
-
out the one that's trying to get from my community.
-
And so let's, let's do that and there'll be post up all about
-
that as well. That's in the queue, so to speak
-
and share that as much as you can get the word out.
-
We want them to know teachers, firefighters, everybody, Amen.
-
That we appreciate them, that this church appreciates their
-
service within our community because that in fact, that
-
impacts your homes, your businesses, your children, so
-
and so forth. And so it's, it's, it's good to
-
do that. I know you've been standing for
-
a bit. Let's turn to Genesis.
-
Chapter #7 and I'm going to read starting with verse 17.
-
I know we kind of read it last week, but I want to kind of link
-
with it. Chapter verse #17 I'll read to
-
the end of the chapter. All right?
-
And then we will continue on. Also, I happen to see these, I
-
think it was the last Thursday. These glasses, they're purely, I
-
think, readers of some sort, but they have prescription at the
-
bottom, nothing through the lens.
-
They look good on me, don't they?
-
Amen. But they were found over on this
-
graveled spot over here. I believe it was last Thursday.
-
If these are yours, come see me. See what I did, come see me,
-
Amen, And we'll get them back to you.
-
Or it might have been someone food pantry wise.
-
If so, we'll get it to Sister Jim to take care of that Genesis
-
chapter #7 verse #17 we're going to begin.
-
Good to be back home with you all.
-
It's my first service being in in church with our dear Doctor
-
Mason. Amen.
-
So we're appreciative of his years of study and
-
accomplishment here. Going to be graduating this
-
weekend and such. And so that's going to be a big
-
thing right now. My daughter basically went to
-
school on Monday and was kind of like her last day.
-
And so I'm back to taking my son to school and picking him up for
-
lunch and all of that. And there's a segment of life I
-
thought I was done with, but I'm not.
-
I don't like it. And so I'm going to get him a
-
tricep or something so he can go back and forth to school.
-
But none the less. Verse 17 And the flood was 40
-
days upon the earth, and the waters increased and bear up the
-
ark, and it was lifted up above the earth.
-
And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the
-
earth, and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
-
The waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth, and all the high
-
hills that were under the whole heaven were covered. 15 cubits
-
upward did the waters prevail, and the mountains were covered.
-
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl and
-
of cattle, and of beasts, and of every creeping thing that
-
creepeth upon the earth. And every man, all in whose
-
nostrils was the breath of life, all that was in the dry land
-
died, and every living substance was destroyed, which was upon
-
the face of the ground. Both man and cattle, the
-
creeping things and the fowl of the heaven, they were destroyed
-
from the earth. And Noah only remained alive and
-
they that were with him in the ark.
-
The waters prevailed upon the earth. 150 a 150 days.
-
We're going to try to dip over into chapter #8 tonight as well.
-
And then I want to talk tonight just simply this at the heart of
-
the flood, the heart of the flood.
-
Some of this might sound familiar to you.
-
My, my daughter and I, we went home last Wednesday and was
-
talking Genesis for a long time. And so I taught her the next
-
lesson. Not in its entirety, but we hit
-
a lot nonetheless. Let's pray tonight in the heart
-
of the flood. Father, we love you, God, we
-
appreciate you and we need you, Lord, in this place, God, I
-
pray, Lord, to be able to help us now, open our minds God, give
-
us the Lord's strength. I pray, O Lord, that we can
-
learn of you God, and find some application of these things,
-
Lord, to our everyday lives. I pray, O Lord, we are thankful,
-
Lord Jesus, for being able to be here, Lord, and come together,
-
Lord of life, precious faith, Lord Jesus, and hear the Word of
-
God in Jesus name, Amen. You may be seated tonight in
-
Jesus name. So we are at the closing verses
-
of chapter #7 and we still have some other chapters to get
-
through in order to make our way through this big portion of
-
Genesis Scripture or the early portions of Genesis scripture of
-
Noah and the flood. But there are about two
-
prominent ideas that are concerned in the closing of
-
Genesis chapter #7 One of those ideas you can read it.
-
It seems very repetitive, very redundant.
-
EE about the ever increasing. Waters or waters?
-
Prevailing. And then there's another idea
-
that's there in the closing verses, and that is of death, of
-
how not being on the ark death was, was the outcome.
-
And if you were on the ark, you were alive, of course.
-
And it seems very, very simple. And as with last week, there is
-
some repetition of this whole idea of, of the idea that these
-
waters are are increasing. There's a lot of repetition that
-
takes place. It's driving home an idea.
-
You can look at it at the different language describing
-
the waters again in what I already read to you night.
-
Verse #17 it says that the waters increased.
-
And verse 18 says the waters prevailed and then describes
-
that a little bit more specifically that they increase
-
greatly. Verse #19 The waters prevailed
-
exceedingly. It speaks that the high heels
-
were covered by the water. Verse #20 tells us that the
-
waters prevailed and that therefore to the degree of 15
-
cubits or which is approximately 22 1/2 feet above the mountains,
-
even of that that of that day and that of that era.
-
And then verse 24 even tells us about these prevailing waters
-
then prevailing for 150 days. There's a lot of repetition
-
about this ever increasing, ever, ever greater amount of
-
water that's coming up on the earth.
-
And with these concepts of water and the concepts of death that
-
we see in chapter #7, there are at least eight times.
-
That referenced in these verses is this water in this death, as
-
though it's being upon the earth.
-
Or as verse #19 says, that this is under the whole heaven.
-
This was occurring or taking place under the whole heaven or
-
up on the earth. We see that that verbiage, that
-
language used over and over again, meaning to us as just
-
literal Bible readers, this, that the flood was not a
-
localized flood to a particular area over in Israel.
-
It was not just where Noah was located, but this was a global
-
flood. It wasn't specified to a certain
-
area. I bring that up because there's
-
a lot of talk. People with all this critique
-
and criticism about whether or not the flood covered the hill
-
or earth or whether it just covered a localized place and so
-
some say that the flood did not cover the entire earth, that it
-
was just localized to Noah's area however, almost every
-
society, almost every society in the.
-
World World Over has some type of quote, UN quote, flood story.
-
The details of all of them fluctuate quite considerably,
-
yes, but it seems to lend to an idea that there was a flood that
-
covered the earth at one time somewhere in our history, in our
-
past. I'd like to share a article with
-
you, Bishop ML Walls, many of you know who I'm Speaking of,
-
shared this article in his commentary on Genesis.
-
This is actually from a article in a a a Creation magazine from
-
1999, the June August rendition. And it says many Christians
-
today think the flood of Noah's time was only a local flood
-
confined to somewhere around Mesopotamia.
-
This idea comes not from Scripture, but from the notion
-
of billions of years of earth history, history that's reported
-
in our world. Again, literally reading the
-
scripture, the earth under the whole heaven, the the scripture
-
says this. So whenever we would consider
-
the other that it would be confined.
-
Then there's a few things that we must ask ourselves.
-
And I'm just going to go through this list, OK, Not really going
-
to do well much on it because again, I like the creator aspect
-
of Genesis a whole lot more than all the minutiae of the
-
scientific because I believe it's purpose for written was
-
more than science, all right? Much more its actual purpose.
-
If the flood was local, why did Noah have to build an ark?
-
Why didn't he just walk and traverse over to some other
-
mountainside or some other area where the flood wouldn't have
-
taken place? If the flood were local, why did
-
God send the animals to the ark so that they would escape death?
-
Wouldn't there have been some other animals of their kind and
-
another location that would have been able to reproduce if those
-
had died off? If the flood was local, why was
-
the Ark big enough to hold all the kinds of land vertebrae
-
animals that have ever existed in that time?
-
If it were only the Mesopotamian animals that were on board, the
-
Ark probably could have been much smaller.
-
If the flood were local, why would birds have to be sent on
-
board? They could simply just winged
-
across to another area where there was no flood, and again,
-
someplace and been safe. If there were no local flood,
-
how could the waters rise to 15 cubits above the mountains of
-
that known day? Because water seeks its own
-
level, right? You ever put water into
-
something? Matter of fact, you can tell if
-
something's level by water, It seeks its own level.
-
So it could not rise to cover the local mountains while
-
leaving other portions of the world unimpacted.
-
If the flood were local, people who did not happen to be living
-
in the vicinity would not have been affected by it in that they
-
would affected God's judgment in that day on sin.
-
And if that happened and then Christ in the New Testament
-
scriptures liking likens the judgment that is still yet
-
coming to as it was in the days of Noah, then it would mean that
-
we were facing a time in the future when there's going to be
-
a section of people judged and not all of us.
-
If the flood were local, God would have repeatedly broke his
-
promise to never send the flood again.
-
And so although the rain according to Scripture seems to
-
have lasted 40 days and 40 nights of verse #12 of the Bible
-
tells us here of Genesis chapter #7 the water again, I think I
-
mentioned last week, I don't know if I can't remember.
-
I just like Genesis submerged right now.
-
I'm, I'm in the flood all right right now.
-
But nonetheless, the water increased and continue to
-
increase, evidently even after the rain stopped.
-
We talked about this, Amen, that there is this prevailing and
-
ever increasing of the waters prevailing for 150 days.
-
The last verse of Genesis 7 says they're prevailing.
-
Which other places of Scripture denotes what that prevailing is?
-
It's exceeding greatly. It's ever increasing for 150
-
days, but if they stopped after the 40 again, there is still the
-
source of the fountains of the deep that broke up.
-
You didn't have to have just water that was coming from the
-
sky, but water that was coming from the subterranean spots of
-
water still coming up on the earth.
-
All the fountains, the Bible says of the deep broke up as
-
well-being a source of feeding the water that was upon the
-
earth. And people have a hard time many
-
times accepting that the waters, the earth's water level could
-
have preceded the mountains for the Bible again.
-
And verse 19 speaks about how they were covered all right and
-
even to 15 cubits, as it says. And the problem with this is
-
that many times they point to the fact that today we have
-
Mount Everest, which is I believe still considered the
-
highest mountain in the world at some this is just around about
-
somewhere around 29,000 feet. So they have a problem with
-
that, that 22 1/2 feet above that, that there could be water.
-
But today's world could have been greatly topographically
-
different then the flood world. As a matter of fact, I believe
-
the flood changed the dynamics of the topography of the world.
-
Mountains and valleys that we have today may have been limited
-
or less drastic. Maybe some didn't even exist
-
prior to the flood. Amen.
-
As a matter of fact, if you remember, the Bible spoke about
-
the different kinds of animals that came to the ark, and then
-
it said in such mode that then Noah got them on the ark.
-
How did these animals from what we would say today, from all
-
these different continents, get to the ark if there was water
-
that prevented, I mean, unless they were Jesus animals and
-
walked on water. And I know that's funny, but
-
what I'm getting at is this. If you remember back in Genesis
-
chapter #1 the third day of creation of the creative days
-
indicates that the waters were gathered together, and it states
-
explicitly one place. It had one place.
-
And the dry land appeared submitting to you that in that
-
moment of third day of creation, we had one landmass and one
-
water. Amen.
-
And so animals could get to an art.
-
For the land connected. Amen.
-
And all people that existed could get there as well and
-
reach it and make way there. But again, believe that the
-
topography of our land absolutely changed.
-
The psalmist references creation.
-
The psalmist references the flood in Psalms 104.
-
And start with verse #5 this is what the psalmist says.
-
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be
-
removed forever? It's a reference to creation.
-
Verse 6. Thou covered is it with the deep
-
as with a garment? The water stood above the
-
mountains. That's a reference to the flood.
-
At thy rebuke they fled. At the voice of thy Thunder they
-
hasted away. They go up by the mountains,
-
they go down by the valleys and the place which thou has founded
-
for them. All right, these, these things,
-
these, these what? He said.
-
These waters are going, 'cause that's another thing.
-
All this water that covered the earth, where did it all go?
-
Well, some of it's our oceans, but with topography of land
-
changing, you have mountains and valleys in the ocean, you have
-
valleys, you have valleys in the ocean that go miles deep that
-
can facilitate a volume of water.
-
That at the ice surface you would never know, but the depths
-
of even valleys that's within the ocean floor.
-
Let me go on verse nine that thou has set a bond that they
-
may not Passover. See this is what he did.
-
He's referring to the promise of not flooding the earth again,
-
that they turn not again to cover the earth.
-
We have sammies and different things where they, they, they,
-
they come over that line, but what happens, they always
-
receive back behind it. They, they don't stay over the
-
whole earth. Interestingly, this is how the
-
Revised Standard Version reads with verse #8 of Psalms 104.
-
Look at this, it says, and again this is in the context of him
-
talking about he covered the, the, the, the, the world with,
-
with deep or with the water and that it covered even the
-
mountains in that context. Verse #8 in the Revised Standard
-
Version says the mountains rose and the valley sank down to the
-
place which thou did a point for them almost indicating due to
-
this water episode that took place, there were mountains and
-
valleys that were formed, mountains and valleys that took
-
place. And so you again you people take
-
that highest peak of Mount Everest.
-
Well again mile Everest may not have been there during the
-
flood. Amen.
-
Could absolutely been changed. All this breaking up of the deep
-
could have very well started that whole movement of the
-
tectonic plates could have started some of that busting up
-
thing. Even after the flood had come
-
and the water subsided, there could still been some of this
-
breaking away that took place. For again, the animals came off
-
and they dispersed and we have certain regions of the world
-
today that only have certain specified regions with certain
-
animals. It could have been all this
-
movement taking place in, during and after the time of the flood,
-
this disbursement. The Paul of Taylor writes in his
-
book The Six Days of Creation that in 1973 a famous diver
-
named Jacques Cousteau. I listened to that online the
-
other day and wrote me a pronunciation so I'd know how to
-
say it. Jacques Cousteau said were the
-
crust of the earth to be levelled Speaking of in that day
-
of 1973? If it had been levelled, the
-
earth would be covered by a uniform sheet of water more than
-
10,000 feet deep. Today, of course, you have the
-
valleys that's in the ocean that may not have been there even
-
with that. So what I'm saying is this is
-
quite a possibility and that's all we're Speaking of today.
-
But interestingly enough, the same damaging floodwaters that
-
increased Genesis 7 says and covered mankind and other living
-
things as we know it and the mountains, the Saint floodwaters
-
that did that, the Bible says in verse 17 those same floodwaters
-
bore up or bear up the ark and it was lifted above the earth,
-
which I believe there is something pictured here because
-
there is a difference between being on the ark and not being
-
on the ark. The ark, of course, represents
-
that place of safety. It represents that place that is
-
free of destruction. It represents that place that is
-
a sanctuary that was lifted up virtually above the world's
-
chaos. And this imagery oftentimes is
-
paralleled in Christian teachings in the New Testament
-
as being the concept of the church, that the same waters
-
that destroy the earth lifted up the ark, but it will get on the
-
ark, it will get in the church. The same things that can destroy
-
others can. You can ride upon the old song.
-
You say God rides upon the waters.
-
He rides upon the floods. There ain't no power.
-
We can by the Spirit of the Lord, this can be done.
-
The other concept there in the closing verses of Genesis
-
chapter #7 is the idea of death. Death outside of the ark and
-
life inside the ark. Again, over and over again.
-
Starting with verse 21, you can look at all the language.
-
It's very repetitive. Concerning death in verse #21 he
-
says that all flesh died basically if it moved on dry
-
land. If if it had mobility on dry
-
land, it died foul It it specifies foul cattle, bees,
-
creeping things, every man. Verse 22 tells us it died if it
-
dwelled on dry land and if it had the breath of life, it died.
-
Verse 23, all the living substances on the earth were
-
destroyed. Again, it specifies man, cattle,
-
creeping things in, foul, dead, dead twice, dead, dead, right?
-
It's very repetitive and just like last week, we have this
-
repetition that takes place not just in Genesis 7, but it takes
-
place in also other passages of Scripture.
-
You can read Genesis. I'm trying to keep track of time
-
because I feel like tonight I'm going to be rubbing folks.
-
Amen. In Genesis chapter #6 and verse
-
#7 the Bible says, and the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I
-
have created. He talks about everything he's
-
going to destroy. In verse #17 of chapter number
-
six, he says, and behold, I even I do bring a flood of waters
-
upon the earth to destroy all flesh.
-
And he talks about those things with the breath of life that
-
he's going to destroy. In chapter #8 and verse #4 he
-
talks about not eight and four. It can't be no seven and four.
-
In seven and four, he talks about that he's going to destroy
-
from off the face of the earth every living substance that I
-
have made. Again, he talks about it.
-
Hey, man. So he says everything.
-
He talks about what he's going to do.
-
And then in verse #21 through 23, he talks about what he did.
-
So we see this repetition again that takes place through
-
Scripture and yet amid all of this destruction, amid all of
-
this calamity and death seems to be on the the stage floor in the
-
limelight and shining is the phrase in verse 23.
-
Noah only remained alive and they that were with him in the
-
ark. Why?
-
Because the ark makes a difference.
-
It's the difference between life and death.
-
Whether you're on the ark or not.
-
On the ark, if the the imagery is like, right, whether you're
-
in the church or not in the church, it is a matter of life
-
or death. I mentioned a couple weeks ago
-
that the Hebrew word for ark also describes that ark that
-
Moses's mother Jacobed made for her son Moses out of bulrushes
-
that she pitched within and without with slime.
-
Again, Moses was born during a very volatile time.
-
If you'll remember, it started out as having a couple of dogs
-
should be thrown into the Nile River.
-
The Nile River that known day had all kinds of dangers.
-
There were crocodiles, 10 different kinds of venomous
-
states. There were mosquitoes carrying
-
all sorts of deadly diseases, not to mention just the Rapids
-
and the larger ragged rocks that was within the Nile itself.
-
Other people, other boys, other children were being thrown into
-
the Nile. But before Chuck the bed put
-
Moses in there, she put him in the ark, which corresponds with
-
our ark of Noah's day, Same word.
-
She put him in a ark, a basket. And the ark made the difference.
-
It was per God's design. And those that were called to it
-
obediently got on it, and they were saved.
-
Someone say Amen, We're doing all right.
-
All right. OK, I feel a little better.
-
Genesis chapter #8 go there with me.
-
And you're already seated, so you don't even have to stand for
-
this. If you'll allow me.
-
I want to read the 1st 14 verses and you're going to kind of
-
start seeing a little mirror image of what we have read thus
-
far. OK, going to start seeing a
-
little mirror image. We talked about last week, the
-
UN creation. Remember though, we're going to,
-
this is going to be a recreation.
-
So you're going to see a little mirror image verse #1 of Genesis
-
chapter #8 And God remembered Noah and every living thing and
-
all the cattle that was with him in the ark.
-
And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters
-
assuaged the fountains also the deep and the windows of heaven
-
were stopped. And the rain from heaven was
-
restrained. By this time all that stuff had
-
quit and stopped. The waters returned from off the
-
earth continually. All right, they prevailed.
-
Now they're shedding. After the end of the 150 days,
-
the waters were abated. So we have really.
-
I won't get it. Let me just read or I can't just
-
do commentary all along here. And the ark rested in the
-
seventh month. And you notice this along the
-
way through the flood account, there are sometimes we were
-
given specific months and days in the story and it all
-
correlates to whatever year or however old Noah is at the time.
-
All right, we'll look at this a little later.
-
I got charts and stuff tonight. I'm telling you, we got cut
-
charts. The ark rested in the seventh
-
month on the 17th day of the month up on the mountains.
-
Everybody say mountains, plural of Ararat, and the waters
-
decrease continually into the 10th month and the 10th month.
-
On the first day of the month were the tops of the mountains
-
seen. And it came to pass at the end
-
of 40 days that Noah opened the window of the this is 40 on the
-
backside of the other forty. OK, all right.
-
At the end of 40 days that Noah opened the window the ark which
-
he had made, and he sent forth a Raven, which went forth to and
-
fro until the waters were dried up from off the earth.
-
Also that same day he sent forth the dove from him to see if the
-
waters were abated from off the face of the ground.
-
But the dove found no rest with the sole of her foot, and she
-
returned into him into the ark, for the waters were on the face
-
of the whole earth. Then he put forth his hand and
-
took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
-
And he stayed yet another seven days.
-
And again he sent forth the dove out of the ark, and the dove
-
came in to him in the evening, and low in her mouth was an
-
olive leaf plucked off. That's how we get symbolism of
-
the dove and the and the olive branch being a symbol of peace
-
today. Wasn't that before?
-
But that's how that started now. So no one knew that the waters
-
were abated from off the earth. And he stayed yet another seven
-
days and sent forth the dove, which returned not again into
-
him anymore. And it came to pass in the 600th
-
and 1st year, in the first month, the first day of the
-
month, the waters were dried up from off the earth.
-
And Noah removed the cover of the ark and looked and behold,
-
the face of the brown was dry. And in the second month, on the
-
7th and 20th day or the 27th day of the month, was the earth
-
dried? Now I want to make a few little
-
comments tonight and then I want to get into our graphs.
-
Aren't you excited about that? Amen.
-
So we've already again discussed that the flood was sort of a
-
uncreation. We looked at that last week and
-
the corresponds to the. Different days of creation in
-
Scripture. And now, however, having been
-
covered by water, the renewed earth was a recreation, all
-
right, a recreation again. We have a solitary, or what
-
seems to be a solitary family coming off the ark, all right,
-
along with the other living things, the animals that's going
-
to be given the command to be fruitful, multiplied and
-
replenished. Just as Adam and Eve were given,
-
the first family was given in verse one though we we recognize
-
for sure that God is in creative mode.
-
Again, God is in creative mode. It says God made a wind to
-
Passover the earth and the waters assuaged, or the wind
-
moved up on the face of the earth, which happened to be at
-
that time covered by water. This should sound very familiar
-
to Genesis chapter #1 that says the Spirit of God moved upon the
-
face of the waters. All right, one says the Spirit
-
of God, the other says wind. It's both ruach, the Hebrew
-
word, but same exact word, which can mean wind or breath or
-
spirit. All right, translated all of
-
those. So God is again in creation
-
mode. The wind is blowing over the
-
face of this deep. The wind is blowing over the
-
face of these waters. And you probably don't remember
-
this, but in our very first lesson of Genesis, as we were
-
kind of hitting all the tops of the trees, I told you that
-
creation in God's Word, new creation for that matter, is
-
always exampled or exemplified by having a water covering and a
-
wind or spirit moving. They're fundamental to the start
-
of creation or to the start of a new creation.
-
That's what we see pictured in the beginning.
-
Amen. Water that is covering.
-
All right, an immersion of things and a spirit that is
-
moving. That's what we're seeing in the
-
new creation after the flood. A water that is immersing,
-
right? What is under it and a a wind
-
that that is moving. All of that takes us to John
-
chapter #3 where Jesus told Nicodemus, except you're born
-
again, you cannot even enter to the Kingdom of of heaven.
-
And he says you must be born of water and of spirit or wind.
-
And he said the wind bloweth where it listeth or where it
-
wants or desires. So is everyone that is born of
-
the spirit not a if not A and not a month.
-
Maybe everyone that is new creation happens in us when
-
there's a immersion of us in water and we go down in Jesus
-
name and a moving of the wind or the spirit of the breath of God.
-
Amen. As we begin the Scripture tells
-
us as we begin to speak in other tongues someone say Amen Peter
-
in the New Testament Scriptures, the apostle Peter makes a direct
-
connection with the the ark and Noah with the symbolism of
-
baptism directly. We're not pulling things out of
-
the sky or trying to connect some dot twist something around
-
to make it work. Peter just calls it as it is and
-
first Peter chapter #3 and verse 20.
-
He says which sometime we're disobedient.
-
He says when once the long-suffering of God waited in
-
the days of Noah while the art was preparing very and few that
-
is 8 souls were saved by water, The like figure wearing to even
-
baptism. He's drawing the line from what
-
happened at the flood to baptism.
-
The light figure weren't to even baptism death also now save us
-
not the putting away of the filth, the flesh, but the answer
-
for good conscience toward God by the resurrection of Jesus
-
Christ. He makes a Direct Line of
-
connection, Amen, with the flood, what took place there,
-
Amen. In our New Testament baptism,
-
again in verse #2 of of Genesis chapter #8 the Bible tells us
-
that even there was this restraining of the fountains of
-
the deep. Again the last verse of Genesis
-
7, there is this prevailing of water for 150 days.
-
This increasing of water. Now we read in Genesis chapter
-
#8 there is 150 days that water is being shed off the earth.
-
There is a continual decreasing now of the water upon the earth,
-
Amen. And so for once 150 days, it
-
prevailed. For another 150 days there was
-
the abating or the shedding of the water, Amen.
-
The Genesis Eight and Three states that after the end of the
-
150 days, the waters were in fact abated.
-
Throw up my first slide. This is a little timeline I made
-
today for us because sometimes we just need a visual, you know,
-
to get in our minds. I read back through the
-
scriptures and and pinned these things down.
-
The Bible tells us in Genesis chapter #7 and verse number six,
-
it tells us that Noah was 600 years old when the flood
-
happened. All right, I don't know if he
-
was 600 a day old or 602. I don't know.
-
But he was 600 whenever the flood happened.
-
According to Genesis 813, Noah was 601 years old when he
-
removed the covering of the ark. So what I have here, if I could
-
look at it here tonight, in reality, I have these months
-
here second. I have second twice because of
-
what I deduced 2nd through the 10th.
-
We're all within a time frame of when Noah was in his 600th year.
-
The first and second months is when Noah was in his 600th and
-
1st year according to scripture. Now here's what we know.
-
We know according to Genesis 711.
-
We know this because it states it that the 17th day of the
-
second month, and it tells us that this is during Noah's six
-
hundredth year of his life, that the fountains of the deep broke
-
up in the windows of heaven opened.
-
Things began all right, right here.
-
The only reason why I included this date is because I know
-
according to the Scripture that seven days before it started,
-
they got on the ark. We know that from Genesis 7,
-
four and 7:10. So if that's the case, I back it
-
up seven days, meaning then the 10th day of the second month all
-
got on the ark before it started.
-
Seven days, seven days before it all started.
-
Okay, all right. Then we have in Genesis chapter
-
#8 verse #4 it states specifically that the 17th day
-
of the 7th month, the ark rested on the mountains of Ararat.
-
All right. Then it tells this specifically
-
also that the first day of the 10th month in in Genesis 85 that
-
the tops of the mountains are seen.
-
It's then that we have in Genesis 8, verse 13, that the
-
first day of the first month, the waters dried up off the
-
earth and Noah removed the covering.
-
And you can read in this verse, it tells us that this was in the
-
601st year and it's implied that this is Noah's life that we're
-
talking about. Then this other day is mentioned
-
in Genesis 814 through 19, that the 27th day of the second month
-
of the earth of the second month, the earth dried all
-
right, completely. And we, we have it dry.
-
But you know, if you ever walked on wet grass, you ever walked
-
on, on dirt that had been wet, It was dry, but it was wet.
-
You understand what I'm saying? There were like no water pooling
-
there, but it was still wet. Well, it's all dried now and all
-
got off the ark. So in reality, from the 10th day
-
of the second month of Noah's 600th year, they got on.
-
In the 27th day of the second month of Noah's 600 and first
-
year, they got off. So right now, OK, I hope this
-
graphic helps somebody because if you just read that, those
-
numbers kind of get lost in the scripture.
-
Amen. With all of that being said.
-
Jews typically ordered their their years by a lunar calendar,
-
which about you say 30 days in the month.
-
Sometimes it was 29, sometimes they have to add a 13 month to
-
take. It can get complicated, but more
-
or less by a lunar year. If so, then they were on the ark
-
10th day of the second month, 27th day of the second month of
-
two individual years in Noah's life that they were on the ark
-
evidently for. One lunar year and 17 days.
-
These are my calculations. I guarantee you there's people
-
out there will argue with me, and that's OK.
-
I'm just trying to go as literal as I can.
-
From what I'm reading, 'cause you can look at the 150 days and
-
40 days, you can Add all those days up in between.
-
You might not arrive at this or there could have been some
-
overlap, all kinds of stuff there, all right, But I don't
-
think that is important for what we're looking at here at the
-
moment. On the 17th day of the 7th
-
month, the ark rested on the mountains.
-
We will say it rested on Mount Ararat.
-
What was it? A mount Ararat was a mountain
-
range. It rested on the mountains of
-
Ararat. They've not ever found the ark.
-
People have tried. There's articles out there,
-
people said they have found them.
-
It's inconclusive. It's on the mountains of Ararat.
-
Archaeologists believe that somewhere around modern day
-
Turkey. So anyway, so there's just those
-
are the times that we do have stamped in Scripture, except for
-
the one I kind of just deduced from what I knew.
-
All right, can we go on to the calendar slide, please?
-
I don't know how good it's going to be because it's kind of
-
small. Hey, it didn't turn out bad.
-
I didn't make. This I stole this.
-
Forgive me, Lord, for I have sinned.
-
If you will remember, the first Passover change the calendar.
-
For the Jews, the first Passover changed the calendar from all
-
that we can tell from creation. That being said, Passover was
-
celebrated in the month of the bib, also called Nissan.
-
Right up in here, Passover, all right, And this is what the
-
Scripture says in Exodus 12 and verse #2 This month shall be
-
unto you, the beginning of the month.
-
It was Passover month. Right.
-
It shall be the first month of the year to you.
-
Can you go back? The song did not used to be the
-
first of the year to them. But since Passover started, he
-
said this shall be the first of the year to you.
-
I see that we have the numbers on here like this.
-
If we go over here, the trumpets are Rosh Hashanah, which is
-
actually their new year. And you were to count from
-
there, from Tishri 123-4567, what was month #7 became month
-
number one. What was accorded by creation,
-
that was month #7 became number one For the Jews.
-
It's changed at Passover. So what's all this mean?
-
Well, whenever we, whenever we look at that, that now this,
-
this Nissan that once was the 7th month, then what I present
-
to you tonight is this Jesus and New Testament scripture died
-
when the Passover lambs died. He was the unleavened bread,
-
feast of unleavened bread. When he's laying in the grave
-
and nothing's happening. If you can show my tomb slide
-
tomb, it's three days and three nights.
-
It's in the month of the sun, the month of Passover raising on
-
early that Sunday morn, the 17th of the sun.
-
Remember days are reckoned the evening and the morning is such
-
and such day. What are you saying for the
-
McGee? That the same day we might have
-
to go back to our first little thing, but the same day, on the
-
17th day of the 7th month, the ark rested on Mount Ararat.
-
The same day that the ark rested according to the calendar of
-
creation, Nissan now is one, but was seven is the same day that
-
Christ got up. New life, New life on day #17
-
that we liken to our Holy Ghost. Let me echo the words of the O
-
prophet Isaiah who said and this scripture as many prophetic
-
scriptures have our our dual fulfillment of the very near and
-
that in the future he says for with stammering lips and another
-
tongue will he speak to his people to whom he said this is
-
the Noah's name means rest. The ark rests on the 17th day of
-
the 7th month. Christ gets up and makes Holy
-
Ghost infill impossible for all of us, which Isaiah said that is
-
the rest wherein he may cause the weary to rest and this is
-
the refreshing that ye would not hear.
-
That's interesting. There's a lot of things that
-
took place on the 17th day of the 7th month, 430 years prior
-
to that. Then going to the Egypt happened
-
on that day as well. So all kinds of things in
-
scripture that happens on the 17th day of the 7th month.
-
Amen. That's interesting.
-
To look at. And I am doing good, thank you
-
Jesus. I was worried.
-
Give me my chiasm slide. I've talked to you about
-
chiasm's before. It's kind of like a literary
-
device. You say, well, how in the world
-
could it be in the Bible? Because God's God, God's God.
-
And you might have problems seeing that, but the whole story
-
of the flood breaks down in a really good little chiasm.
-
And what that means is, yeah, can you give me back to the
-
smaller little one just real quick, just for the purpose?
-
A chiasm mirrors all along a line, mirrors all along the
-
line, going all the way back to Genesis six and nine.
-
Noah, the righteous man, ending all the way with Noah in 928
-
through 29. Noah, his life and death.
-
So you have A and a or A and a prime back and forth, B&B, prime
-
C. Each of these coordinate.
-
So let's just pick an arbitrary 1H right here.
-
Seven days waiting for the flood.
-
That's where he talks about the seven days that they're going to
-
wait. That was repeated, go down here
-
to H7. Days waiting for the waters to
-
subside goes back and forth, back and forth, 150 days or 50
-
days to 40 and 40. It's this mirror alone in
-
Scripture. You can find out a lot about
-
what a story is conveying by finding the midpoint of a chiasm
-
in Scripture. This happens all throughout your
-
Bible, from Genesis to Revelations.
-
You can pick up on them sometimes.
-
Amen. But whenever we look at this, so
-
you just look at this and you, you could just stare at it there
-
for a moment in and I'm kind of walking through Genesis chapter
-
#8 here. Verse #5 The waters again
-
continue to decrease. The tops of the mountains are
-
seen. All right.
-
That correlates again with Genesis whenever the dry land
-
appeared. So we're recreating here, all
-
right. Verse #640 Days have passed and
-
Noah opens the window on the ark.
-
I don't know if that's I was thinking.
-
And sometimes they get, you know, carnal in my mind.
-
I just think today, you know, we have the statement when God,
-
when God shuts the door, he'll open a window.
-
Never mind. The Lord shut the door and I
-
guess Noah really opened the window but none the less but.
-
Anyway, verse #7 he sent forth the Raven.
-
It went to and fro. It never came back to the ark.
-
The same day that he sent the Raven, he sent the dove.
-
It went out, but could find nowhere to rest his foot.
-
So it came back to the ark. He pulled it in.
-
He waited seven days. He released them that dove again
-
in verse #10 All right. And verse #11 the Bible says
-
that at this time the dove returned with that olive leaf in
-
its mouth. All right, Yep.
-
And then he's going to, he's going to wait seven more days in
-
verse #12 interesting. I did just a little research in,
-
but olive growers say that olive branch will actually bear leaves
-
underwater. So I guess in order for a dove
-
to have a olive leaf to pluck that it could have happened
-
underwater. And once the water got low
-
enough, it was visible for the dove to get to bring back.
-
But anyway, he waited seven more days, sent a dove, and it did
-
not return. I really don't have much to say
-
along that line of story. But the thing that I want to get
-
at is really the heart of the flood.
-
The heart of the flood, all of the increasing waters, all the
-
days that lead up to this, then all the decreasing waters,
-
everything that takes away from this.
-
The heart of the flood is Genesis eight one God remembered
-
Noah and when we say God remembered Noah and many times
-
in this instance and other places of Scripture where God
-
remembered and their God so and so forth.
-
It's not that God for God. It's not that God for God.
-
God if God chooses not to remember something that's up to
-
him, but it's not that he forgot like accident.
-
Usually in Scripture, particularly when we talk about
-
people, that's in covenant God. Whenever the Bible says that God
-
remembered such and such or God remembered his people, that
-
means that God now is going to act according to his covenant or
-
according to his promise. In all of this flood thing, the
-
heart of the flood is that God remembered a man who by faith
-
built what God said, build God on what God said.
-
Get on was patient when he didn't hear God during the storm
-
or in the waiting. God acted now on Noah's behalf.
-
I think it's important today for there to be that middle line in
-
every one of our lives. And if you would look, maybe
-
there would be a chiasm of your life that in the middle you'll
-
see that God decided to act according to his promise.
-
God make movement in behalf of you and for you.
-
So we can talk about all the days and we can talk about the
-
calendar and we can talk about tectonic plates and all that,
-
but the seed is this God remembered a man that had a ear
-
that was keen to the. Voice of God.
-
Staying with me, man, I wow, folks, we did.
-
I'm in the green. I'm just letting you know right
-
now I'm going to go, I'm going to take.
-
A picture of that and put it on the.
-
Plaque. Take it home.
-
Amen. Next week we'll have some other
-
things of Noah actually coming off the ark.
-
All right, on this day that's mentioned there in Scripture
-
verse #14 and perhaps we'll delve over in chapter #9 as
-
well. We'll see.
-
We'll see where we get what we can do.
-
We're coming. We're coming up on the end of of
-
the flood story though, but we still got some other things to
-
talk about. And just in case anybody gets
-
their hopes way up, they probably all won't be as quick
-
as this, OK, But get what you get, right?
-
Get what you get and don't pitch a fit.
-
They used to say preschool. This is the heart, the heart of
-
the flood. There's a lot of interesting
-
things there. If you want any of those things,
-
I could probably make copies of yours for you or whatever if you
-
wanted for your own study or perusal, so on and so forth.
-
Amen. Let's pray tonight.
-
Father, I need you, Jesus, this evening.
-
I'm thankful, Lord, that you are mindful of us, God, You're
-
mindful of us. Just as mindful, Lord, as you
-
were God of that righteous man, that man that you accounted
-
faith into him as righteousness, just as you were that man, Noah,
-
God of that day, I pray, O Lord, we have God our own.
-
Lord quote UN quote flood moments.
-
Lord Jesus, in this life, I pray, O Lord, today help us God,
-
have a ear. God that is aware of the voice
-
of the Lord and help us, O God, today to follow Lord your
-
direction. We're thankful God for
-
uncreation. We're thankful for recreation.
-
We're thankful for new birth in Christ Jesus.
-
We're thankful for all these things of Old Testament that are
-
just shadows of things that are to come of a immersion of water,
-
Lord Jesus and a moving of the spirit God there.
-
I pray, O God today help us Lord to carry these truths, these
-
concepts and ideas home. I pray, O Lord, knowing God,
-
that if we're in the church, a part of the church, God, the
-
things that destroy everything else and bring decimation, God,
-
we can rise above them and float upon them.
-
I pray God, by your spirit, Lord, it's capable of being
-
done. And we found out to thank you
-
and praise you, Lord, for it. In the name of Jesus Christ, I
-
pray Amen. Everybody say Amen.
-
Tomorrow, National Day of Prayer and Prayer here at the church.
-
National Day of Prayer, prayer here at the church.
-
You should be in prayer tomorrow.
-
Don't miss your prayer time tomorrow.
-
It's the national day of prayer. Our country needs prayer.
-
Our nation needs prayer, Amen. And if they're going to put a
-
date on the calendar denoting this, we need to take advantage
-
of it. Of all the other things that
-
have been taken away, we should then participate in what is
-
available. All right, Amen.
-
So this power hour here at the church at 7:00 tomorrow night,
-
God bless you tonight. Jesus name, Amen.
