Amen. Good God, Hallelujah, you'll

stand with me tonight to honor to the reading of God's Word.

Amen. This evening we got scriptural

precedence always for that from the book of Ezra.

They stood while they read the word Amen of God.

I just got one verse for you. So you should just be beaming

with gladness for those children that are going back to school

tomorrow. That won't be happening.

Wabash has canceled school for tomorrow.

So I'm, I'm guessing that at any moment in time I make mention

that during the service at least get a Amen or a yes from those

that are of that. Age.

Sister Mariah. Amen.

Leviticus. The Book of Leviticus.

I've been like a hen brooding on this egg since February of last

year. Because if you read your Bible

through in a year, your Genesis livid, you know, Genesis,

Exodus, Leviticus. So it was about February of last

year. So here we are, finally

surprised it's not a chicken yet.

Leviticus chapter #26 in just verse 10.

And again, I know we're already 12 days into the year, but this

is with the mind of the new year, perhaps new season of your

life. Leviticus 26 and 10.

He says God says it, God speaking.

To the children of Israel, at this moment, they're still at

Mount Sinai. They they're not yet crossed the

Jordan River into the Promised Land.

Matter of fact, there are landless.

People at this moment, he's. Speaking to their future.

And he says, And ye shall eat old store bring forth the old

because of the new shall bring forth the old because of the

new. Find share just a few other

versions of that for you home and Christian study Bible says

you will eat the old grain of the previous year and will clear

out the ode to make room for the new.

The new English translation says just a portion there.

That last portion of the verse says and we'll have to clean

out. What is?

Stored from the previous year to make room for new.

It is my estimation and belief that sometimes we carry things

over from year to year, that we need to let go of new things.

Trying to enter our life for a new season, a new year.

Sometimes we want to collectively keep everything,

but we sometimes lose the new because we're not willing to

part with the old. And so tonight I want to

administer this. Make room for the new.

Make room for the new. Let's pray together.

Father, I thank you Jesus today for your spirit.

Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to be here twice.

Lord, on this Sunday, I pray, O God, that you have the.

Minister Lord, in this place. Not your.

Word Lord, just be words. On the page, God of some distant

time of years ago. But let it be fresh.

Lord, I pray God for us even tonight.

God help someone this evening, God, someone, Lord, in this

place as they enter. Lord God, the year of. 2025 I

pray, O God, that you're able to help them.

Lord. God to make room.

Lord God for some new things. God that you want to.

Do Lord in their. Life in this season of their

life God Lord, we'll trust you with it God and we'll have faith

God that you'll do it in. The lovely name of Jesus.

Christ that we pray, Amen. And you may be seated tonight in

Jesus name. Hoarding, hoarding.

Hoarding is a powerful illustration of the human

condition. People surrounded by physical

clutter, various items and things.

I mean, it runs the gamut of what there can be, but their

true struggle goes you really much.

Deeper than the items. That are tangible, that you can

see and can feel with the hands. They aren't simply buried under

belongings, but. Many of them are buried.

Beneath fear and regrets and. The wait.

Sometimes of their past in order.

To act out as they. Are to live as they are.

So we see those and those are astounding no doubt to us.

Maybe some of us, but. What about?

Us, most of us might. Not be hoarders in a physical

sense we don't have stacks of newspapers lining our hallways

in our homes and, you know sundry and various broken

appliances that's overtaken our. Living rooms, but.

What about spiritually? What about emotionally?

Many of us I. Believe from year to year,

sometimes in a spiritual, emotional sense.

We are hoarders. We cling to things that have

long, long lost their usefulness.

We hold on to old wounds and grudges that clutter our hearts

and our lives. We we have regrets and mistakes

that we replay endlessly in our. Mind's Eye.

There's broken relationships. That we keep.

Pieces or even. Portions of that we really just

need to let go. Of our our have outdated.

Mindsets and fears that. Sometimes prevent us from

embracing. What God has for us.

In this season. Of our life.

Hoarding is a very complex, complex behavior and I'm not

qualified. To explain professionally all

the insurance and outs of that. But as a pastor, I can tell you

this that I can share that hoarders exist.

Not only in the natural. Sense, but also in the spiritual

and religious context as well. People enter the church

sometimes. Without any control in their

lives and. They've been at the mercy at

times of addictions and and that addiction has decided.

What they will do or what they will.

Not do and they've. Come out of oppressive

relationships. Where having opinion was nearly

intolerable to whoever. They were in a relationship with

and what they've only known is only known.

To just reaction mode, right? There, there's no planning.

They react to what happens day in and day out.

Whatever happens to? Them each day new new.

Circumstance they're. Just going to react to it.

And then there's other. People that come into the.

Church that they have suffered profound.

Loss in their lives. They they have loss.

And they they feel sometimes like they're drowning in all of

the. Loss that they have and like a.

Drowning person they are desperately finding and trying

to grab. On to anything.

They can grab onto in order. To stay afloat.

And they don't necessarily care what they cling on to because

they're in survival mode. Doesn't necessarily matter what

they is. That if it's accessible, they're

just going to grab. On it, they're going to.

Claim it. Because they're a drowning

individual. They, they don't want to let go.

They they don't want to let go of of things that they have had,

or anyone for that matter, because they've never really had

anybody stay. Long enough, they they no.

Loss so there's people constantly coming in their life

and. Exiting their life and so.

They're grabbing on to whatever they can as a result.

Of that they surround themselves in, sometimes just with.

Worthless things. It says to them it's just better

to have. Something rather than to have.

Nothing. And so they just just bring

that. Into their life and it all comes

along there. They leave no space for anything

else with the with the fear that they might even lose that if I'm

speaking these terms for the new year sometimes, that we leave no

space for new blessing or new opportunity or new growth that

God may desire to bring into our lives.

Because we're just burdened and. Suffocating with the weight of

everything that we had before and perhaps that was good for

its season and for its time period, but.

You're in a new season tonight. You're in a new year, a new

time. I read a book several.

Years ago. Called the things they carried.

Tim. O'Brien wrote about the Vietnam

War and he included numerous sentences and pages that

enumerated all the different things that a warrior in the

Vietnam War. Carried into battle whenever he

was in field. Duty and there was all type of

things, he remarked, and said they carried all they could bear

and then some, including a. Silent.

All for the terrible. Power of the.

Things that they carried they. Carried things that were beyond

just the visible things. A person.

Could see with their eye or the tangible things that.

They even carried. Things that were associated

memories, if you will, he said. They they.

Shared and they carried the weight of a memory, meaning

perhaps some regrets from things that they had done on the

battle. Things.

Things that they had witnessed that took.

Place there they weren't just. Carrying guns and and

ammunition. But they were carrying the

weight of what? They had been exposed to.

The weight of what they. Encountered.

Although some of those episodes were long gone, it was eternally

alive in their memory, Eternally alive in the heart.

A man. He even said.

They they they would never be at a loss for.

Things to carry and similarly, sometimes we carry experiences

and we carry situations from 1:00.

Year to the next year. From.

One month to the next. Month some.

People are so good at hoarding that they still do well on

mistakes that they've been forgiven.

Years ago for someone. Say you, man.

Each year they just take stock and inventory, almost like the

the beginning of her at the end of the year.

Take an. Inventory.

Amen. To carry them over into the next

year. Do you remember?

Do you remember in the Grand? Grand scheme of of the cell.

Phone industry whenever you had roll over minutes here, remember

when you had roll over minutes and you.

Could carry them over into. The next billing cycle.

If you didn't use them. Well, tonight I'm not talking.

About roll over minutes, I'm referring to regrets and

mistakes. I'm talking about holding on to

the good instead of not accepting the better that God

may want to do and what God may want to bring in your life.

There are some things that are not meant to roll over.

God addressed his people at Mount Sinai.

Here in the book of. Leviticus, a mountain.

Where they had. Gathered to after their

deliverance from Egyptian bondage.

And this was an important. Place because as the.

Children of Israel stand at Mount Sinai.

There's. Something that we must

understand. Those who stood there were more

than likely because they were in that bondage for 400 years.

As a nation, those that. Stood there have no.

Memory or experiences of owning. Land or cultivating land for

themselves. They had been born into a

situation of bondage under the oppression and the thumb of

another. So they don't have no memory,

they can go back to of killing the ground.

And reaping their own harvest so to.

Speak and so as slaves, the Israelites would depend upon

Egypt for their food and. For their sustenance, and as.

Egypt controlled their primary sources of food.

They would have to depend. Upon them and so during moments

of scarcity. When they would finally leave

Sinai and start their wilderness journey, you will remember that

they would cry out to Moses and they would say, Moses, why have

you brought us? Out here into the wilderness.

To die, why couldn't have We have died at Egypt, At least at

Egypt we had the. Pots of meat or the pots of.

Flesh and we had the bread. But you must understand none of

those. Pots of flesh.

Or bread was really theirs. They couldn't claim them as

their own. As a matter of fact, they were

just looking back on Egypt with a favorable eye because they

were right now in a situation in the wilderness where they.

Felt a little dissatisfied. I want to pause.

For a moment and say. This we often times exaggerate

the goodness of something in the.

Past when we. Feel dissatisfied with what's

going on right now. You, you, you just hear me.

Well, there came a day the Bible says that the Lord came down

because He heard the cry of the children of Israel wanting

deliverance. I'm telling you, the meat pox

didn't look very good then. The bread that they were

receiving didn't look very good then.

The only reason why they're talking about it now is because

it was a moment. Of scarcity in the wilderness.

That's the only reason. Why they look upon it with a

favorable eye. But with all of this background,

God speaks to them from Sinai and He tells them you're going

to inherit land. Not land that belongs to the

Egyptians, not land that belongs to some land owner that you're

going to be under, but you as individuals are going to inherit

land. And with that land, you're going

to get the enjoyment of the rewards of farming that land

planning. Seed and harvesting seed.

Right now, I know you stand here as a landless people, but you

won't always be a landless people.

This is. Not your permanent situation.

This is not your permanent life. God wanted them to understand

there'll be a day in the near future that you'll sow seed in

the soil and you'll reap a harvest.

I know. So for years up to this point in

time, you've been at the mercy of hard test masters.

You've been at the mercy of ruthless rulers, Amen.

In Egypt. And they were the ones that

controlled your food supply and managed it.

But there's going to come a day the grain that you hold in your

hand will be your grain. There's going to come a day that

the sprout that you see from the ground is not you tending it for

somebody else, you're going to be tending it for yourself, he

says. But I give you caution right now

that when that day comes, you're going to have an urge to want to

keep and stockpile everything that comes.

But if you do that, when the new season comes, you won't have

room for the new, he says. So I urge you right now, when

the day comes that the new grain comes on the corn, that you get

rid of the old, and you allow room and space for the new

harvest, for the new season, for the new year, it may take all.

This in consideration that the hoarder is born.

For the Israelite as imagine. They're going through a

wilderness journey, each person. Water and food often times were

scarce through the wilderness, but each person.

The Bible says that God. Provided manna for them during

their wilderness journey. They were allowed an.

Omer, which is a measurement. An Omer of that manna.

For each individual daily, right?

And you couldn't save a portion of it for the next day.

You had to gather. Twice as much.

Before the Sabbath, Amen. In order to take care of all of

that, Amen, They would do it. Each day and so perhaps.

The hoarder tendencies, Amen, might stem to Egypt.

It might stem to the wilderness because they've only had food

managed by. Somebody else and they had.

Food that come when they're they they were had to have faith that

food would be there tomorrow. And so God says I know what your

I know what your mindset's going to be.

You're going to want to hold on to every bit and can I tell you

that, and I'm going to preach about it before it's all said

and done. Not all grain is good grain.

Not only he says, but I understand what your mentality

is going to be. You're going to want to try to

hold on to everything, the good, the bad, the the the lesser

quality. Hey man, you're going to want to

because that that's yours and you've had it a different way up

to this point in time. And God understood all of those

tendencies, but he warns them about the day that they'll be a

blower and they'll be a Reaper, and they'll bring forth the old,

He said, in order to make room for the new.

Why? Hey man, because the old, it's

beneficial. Oh, grain is great.

It's beneficial until it's not. See, there was a point in time

that the old grain was the new grain.

It came as new providing. Fresh nutrients and and

sustaining. Them with new grain and.

Regardless of age. Of course, grain is grain, but

one is noticeably fresher than the other.

One is noticeably. More appealing than the.

Other and both the old hear me well.

Whether it be old or whether it be new, IT takes up space in

your barns. It's a matter of fact to ensure

that grain is properly stored. When the new grain arrives, it

would make sense then to preserve it because it's going

to have a longer shelf life than the old grain.

It's fresher than the old grain. It's benefits are far from

being. Exhausted what we got to.

Understand is at that point when the new grain comes, the old

grain has served it's purpose. Why would we keep the old at the

neglect Amen of making room for the new?

Because if we tried to keep everything, there may be a

shortage in the near future. We got to.

Clear up the old to. Make room for the new because

it's settable. It's suitable for this season.

It's suitable for this time. Hey man, can I tell you that God

brings grain in his particular season?

He brings grain in his particular year and at its

particular moment. I'm trying to urge someone

today, there might be some things from 2024 that you would

really like to hold on to. Maybe they have some type of

emotional significance to you, good or bad, but I'm trying to.

Let you know tonight. That we're in a new year, your

life is going to be in a new season.

This product, this harvest won't just be like last year's harvest

for you. And you got to let go of some

things. So God will bring a new

blessing, a new grain, a new. Not all grain.

Is good grain. Grain quality varies, depends on

all. Kinds of things growing.

Conditions, harvesting methods, storage practices.

There can be grain that's notably immature grain.

It's. Underdeveloped grain, that type

of grain is prone to spoilage. There's grain that is affected

or infested grain. It's been impacted by fungi,

it's been impacted by insects. There's contaminated grain.

It might contain some dirt or debris or rocks or wheat seeds

mixed in so. Just because it's a harvest.

Hey man. Or it's grain.

Not all grain is good grain. What are you saying?

Some of us are keeping contaminated grain in our lives

when there's a new grain that's come to head that is going to be

better for you. Some of us are keeping some

infected grain in our lives when there's something that's better

for you. Some of us are keeping some

grain that's underdeveloped and immature that we need to let go

of. Some immature grain someone

shame in. So some of the hardest things to

let go of are the things. That you are familiar with.

It may not be beneficial. To you.

But since it's familiar to you, I'll keep.

That reason why there's. People in the world.

Today that endure cycles of violence and that's their norm.

Because that's what they're. Familiar with the reason why

some. People cater to addictions.

Because. Those are the very building.

Blocks of their life. That's what they're familiar

with. It doesn't matter that it may be

to their detriment. This is what I know.

This is what I'm. Familiar with?

It's no different. Than it taking.

Time for the nation. Of Israel to cry out as a result

of their bondage. An outsider may say an outsider.

May even look. For other people.

'S lives and may say. What in the world is wrong with

them? Don't they know that's not

normal? The fact of the.

Matter is. Amazingly, they might not know

it isn't normal because to. Them that is their normal.

Can I say that some of us have? Lived our Christian.

Lives under umbrella of what we thought was a normal Christian

life, when in reality it's just been a familiar Christian life

for you. There is really another stepping

stone. There is really more maturity in

your Christian hood that God wants to bring you into, but you

got to make room for it. You someone say man.

Sometimes they hesitate to accept something new, or even

better because, again, they're less familiar with the new.

They're less familiar with. The better people roll over

shame and guilt and regret. Amen.

Those things may. Be the old grain.

Of a previous harvest. Amen.

That's all the harvest they. Had That's all that they've

known until now. And it's hard to let.

Go of sometimes the regrets. And the feelings of shame.

And the feelings of guilt, especially whenever you start to

feel you don't deserve anything better.

Hey man, throughout the wilderness journey again, there

were periodic times. Of thirst and hunger.

Amen. But.

God in those moments. We read in scripture he would.

Provide water from a rock he would provide manna from.

Heaven. He would provide quail from.

Heaven. And so I asked, how can we be

reluctant? And critical over such

miraculous provisions. Of God, it wasn't like Amen.

It wasn't like they had had. What are you saying?

I'm saying according to the scripture.

They had a different diet whenever they were in Egypt, the

Bible says in Numbers 11 and verse.

Five. This is what the.

Children of Israel said in their wilderness, as a matter of fact,

they had just received food from heaven again, and they said

this. We remember the fish, hear me,

They have just received food from heaven and they're saying

we remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely, the

cucumbers. And the melons and the.

Leeks and the onions and the garlic.

And look at verse 6. There is nothing at all besides

this manna before our eyes. Reason with me.

Just a little moment here, Sister Grace.

Food from heaven. There's not a seed for this.

There's not a cultivation for this.

Every morning it arrives on the new dew of the ground, and yet

in the moment when God is providing them.

Something new? They're just talking about what

they had in their. Past leeks and onions and.

And all these things when we were in bondage of our past, God

was having them in a new season, but they were still wanting the

old grain. Someone say man, they still.

Wouldn't all all of the old? We don't have anything beside

all of this man, honey, that manna must have been pretty

good. Dad always said it was.

Angel. Food.

It must have been pretty good. It was evidently pretty close.

At least from. Heaven Amen.

That Elijah had the bread that was baked upon the coals as he

slept under the juniper tree, and they gave it to him and he

ate it. And the Bible says he went in

the strength of that for 40 days and 40 nights.

That must be pretty good stuff. I don't know any bread made out

of the grain we have today. You're going to go in the

strength of for 40 days and 40 nights.

But the Israelites say there's nothing beside this manner like

it was inconvenient. But the real truth was this.

It wasn't inconvenient, it was just different.

See God may. Want to do something different

in this year and season of your life, but there are certain if

I. Could say it like these?

Foods that. Pertain to specific

environments. Egypt had the Nile River.

They're going to have some fish. The wilderness didn't have much.

Of an Oasis throughout it. It it was really a barren land

in many regards. Fruitlessness, but.

Heaven intervention of manna and quail.

And water from a rock. However, the promised land would

yet be another different environment.

A different type of crop was going to be produced in that

place because of the surroundings that they would be

in. The environment that they would

have would accommodate all of that.

Let me say it like. This what they had.

Egypt's produce was not meant. For the wilderness.

And the manna that came down in the wilderness was not meant for

the promised land we live. I know in an hour of import and

export, almost any type of food you want you can get from

another place. But if you did not have import

and export, you're going to have the food that your environment

can support. What are you saying?

I'm seven. We're living in an hour.

In the spiritual world, Amen that we enter different places

and locations and new seasons and what we eat.

And what God? Brings into our life is largely

based upon our surroundings. Largely.

Based upon our. Environment.

Amen. The integrity of.

All those things might. Change from year to year or crop

to crop. But I'm in a new season right

now. I'm in a new year right now.

My surroundings. I pray they're not.

It's not like 2024 right now. I hope the ground responds

differently. Amen to what I put in the ground

this year. I can't expect this.

Year's harvest. To be identical to last year's

harvest. It's a new year, it's a new

season. I'm not the same person.

I'm not the same farmer I was last year.

We're going to clean up the old I'm.

Going to make. Room for the new.

I'm sure. Some had an afterthought I'm.

Going to do this. With two hands because it felt

like it took me 5 minutes. To get it open this morning.

And then I never took a drink of it.

I'm sure some had an afterthought in Bethlehem.

If they were present whenever a. Pregnant and laboring, Mary and

Joseph sought shelter upon the arrival.

There. Undoubtedly, the Inns were

overcrowded because of the populace and the number of

people that had come to Jerusalem.

For the census that was recorded in Scripture.

However, we also know culturally in history that these things

called ends were also known. To be occupied by idle.

And immoral people, drunkards and infidels frequented such.

Ends instead of anyone. Offering their space to a.

Pregnant mother soon on the cusp of going into labor.

The Bible. Tells us in Luke that.

Jesus was laid in a Manger because there was no room.

For them, in the end, someone say man.

In just a moment of time he member of the Fred, whoever the

innkeeper was that had the idol and the immoral and the infidel

in. His under his control and under

his hand. In a moment.

He could have dismissed the immoral.

Amen for the immortal. In just a moment, he could have

asked the infidel to take their exit for the.

Purpose of the infinite being. Born Amen there, but it wasn't

customary in that time. They clung to the old.

Traditions of. Keeping those type of people

around rather than celebrating the birth of the King of kings.

What are you saying? The innkeeper and those in that

vicinity would have no pride or celebration of the new because

they would not make room. They would not make room for it.

You know the celebrated miracle of Second, Some of you do, of

Second Kings chapter #4 the Bible.

Tells us that the woman. Has a debt.

She is in a. Place a very a.

Quandary, if you will, the debtors that that they're going

to come and possibly. Take her two sons away.

She is a widow, Her husband is already dead, but he was one of

the sons of the Prophet, Amen. And the Prophet has come, and

the debtors have come. And she's in a very, very poor

situation right here. But the.

Bible tells us by the end of the story that that woman's debt has

been paid and that her children are not going to be taken away

to slavery, but they've been safeguarded from slavery.

All because the Bible says. She didn't have anything in the

house. But a pot of oil?

But the real miracle was not in the fact that she had a pot of

oil as much as she had space to pour the oil into.

The Bible says in Second Kings Four that the oil stopped, or

the oil did not pour anymore, or the oil did not produce anymore

in that moment. Why?

The Bible says the vessels that they had bought brought were

full. There was not, the Bible says,

yet another vessel. What's it saying?

There was no room, and when there was no room, there was no

new oil. When there was no room, there

was no fresh oil. The only way to have fresh oil

was to make more room. I'm trying to tell somebody

today you might need to clear out the old and make room for

the new folks. You're on the journey.

As a Christian. It is not God's purpose for you

to be filled with His. Spirit and stop your maturity

journey as the old preachers. Used to say that's your.

Birth certificate. There's still a.

Whole bunch of living in front of you.

There's a whole bunch of maturing in front of you.

And God wants you to grow and God wants you to develop into

the image of who he is. But in order to do so, each year

he's going to introduce some new growth in your life.

But he's not going to be able to put that in your life if you

don't let go of some old habits and old attitudes and old

relationships. You got to make room.

Dear babe, there's people that are spiritual.

Hoarders that sit on pews. They hold.

On to their initial experience. And they never went anything

else with something new because they've rejected the new to keep

a hold of the old. You're.

Here, here, God wants you to grow.

He talks even about the word of God that we eat that as.

Milk. It's thereby, he says, thereby

we grow. Changes happen with growth,

sister. Jen, you put Addison back into

that first outfit. She ever wore when she was born.

Number one, it's probably impossibility #2 it's going to

look a little. Ridiculous, but no more

ridiculous than. 5 and 10 year old.

Saints still. In the place they were when they

first came to God. I don't know what we're hoarding

in our spiritual lives, but some of us.

Get comfortable and familiar. Amen.

Where we first? Stepped into the church and we

will. Don't want to rock the boat.

We don't want anything to. Change we want.

To try it, if you will, to stride 2 worlds and be

comfortable right pair. But new season, new blessing,

new growth requires getting rid of.

Some things it requires. Dismissing some things and

making room for the new. Because when you hold.

On to those things, sometimes they can prevent us from the new

and the relevant for your current season.

Bible says I got to hurry you. Bible says that Noah.

Lived 350 years after the flood, just as 928.

He lived 350 years. After the flood.

The central event, no doubt that.

Many are familiar with of Noah's life is building the ark and

the. Episode of the Whole Ark.

Encounter Genesis 7 and 8 and nine 350 years.

His total lifespan was 9. 150 years.

Noah and the. Reality of that 900.

And 50 years. The amount of time that was

spent in building the ark and being on the ark is.

Minuscule in reality. If you were to do the

percentage, it's really small concerning his whole life span.

And I understand, please don't misunderstand me.

I understand that the Bible. Gives us the certain stories

about people's lives that are critical to the overall story

of. Scripture.

I understand that. But if the silent record of

Noah. 'S life after the.

Flood was, as it was, inactive. 350 years of nothing except the

vineyard he got he. Planted and got drunk on all

there is left of. The 350 years was just

inactivity then. It's a sad postscript of a man

that didn't make room. Some of us are.

Pointing to an ark on a mountain somewhere.

But what about the other 300? And 50 years of your life.

And I'm thankful for what God. Has done.

But we. Need to be mindful.

About what God is going to do. The Bible says in Hebrews. 10

and verse #9. The writer of Hebrews.

Says then said he. Lo, I come to.

Do thy will, O God, he taketh. Away the first, everybody say.

1st. He taketh away the 1st that.

He may establish the second. Hebrews. 10 is is discussing in.

Quite detail all of the. Insufficiency of the old.

Testament sacrificial system. Now it always just came up a

little short, and in contrast to that, he talks.

Then about the sufficiency of the.

Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. Christ on Calvary's Hill and.

So he says when he says he done away with the 1st.

He's talking about. All of those Old Testament.
