All I need, All I need is found in your prison.

All I need, All I need is found in your prison.
-
All I need, All I need is found in your prison.
-
Hallelujah, Jesus. Sing it today, sound in you.
-
Hallelujah. Oh, he's a very present help.
-
Amen. In trouble, I've learned through
-
my life experience though. There God's presence shows up.
-
God's presence wishes to demonstrate itself in some way.
-
It's a place in the New Testament Scripture.
-
Bible talks about that the Lord was sitting there and teaching
-
and things of that nature. It says that the power of the
-
Lord was present. And then it tells us it's
-
objective to heal. And I'm confident every time His
-
spirit shows up, He has a purpose and an objective.
-
Amen. So there's many of you that felt
-
that presence today. I, I'm, I'm, I'm confident that
-
there's nobody that sits in this room this morning that's been
-
unimpacted by the presence of the Lord that's in this place.
-
But you might be in this situation where I just don't
-
know what to do with what I'm experiencing.
-
Some of you, it's been born into the water spirit.
-
It's a drawing you close, but for some of you don't have a
-
relationship with God. He's drawing you unto himself,
-
Amen. And just a simple hand raised or
-
a simple conversation with God can start something of a total
-
change in your life, Amen. This morning, it's important to
-
respond. Amen.
-
To you. Might not you say, well, I don't
-
know. I don't want, I don't want to
-
get it wrong. I don't want to respond.
-
Listen, there is no wrong response to what you're feeling
-
here today. There is no wrong response to
-
what you're feeling here this morning.
-
Hallelujah, he is here today, Amen.
-
And we don't say that to be spooky.
-
I'm telling you confidently, you witness it.
-
You're what you're feeling is I don't can't describe this.
-
What you're feeling is the presence of God.
-
You're feeling God's Spirit today.
-
If you've never felt it before, man welcome.
-
This is God's Spirit, Amen, that you're feeling here today,
-
Hallelujah, Amen. Well, stand with me, I suppose,
-
Amen. It's so good to have each of
-
you, Amen, here this morning and some we've not been able to
-
touch base with in a while, it seems sickness and things of
-
that nature. And it's so good to be able to
-
cross the paths with you this morning, Amen.
-
We appreciate everybody's prayers for us as we were gone
-
past weekend. And it's good to be back home.
-
You know, you're always ready to get home to your bed and your
-
house, but I'm also always happy to get back home to the House of
-
God with this. You know, the Bible says that
-
the Lord said that the solitary in families.
-
And so this is the family of God that he has set me.
-
And I know it's bigger than this, but this is the family of
-
God. He set me in.
-
And so I'm glad to be back. Amen With you this morning.
-
I'm going to turn to two passages of Scripture today.
-
I'm going to turn to 2nd Corinthians 519 and also First
-
Timothy 316 reading from both of these passages.
-
Pardon me. Both of these passages, Amen.
-
The Scripture, one here, a letter that Paul wrote to
-
Corinth, another that he wrote to his son in the Gospel,
-
Timothy, and both of these have a couple of phrases that are
-
springboards really for our purposes that are here this
-
morning. Amen.
-
And at any time, Amen, you want to respond to the Lord.
-
And maybe we, we say, well, it goes without saying, but I think
-
it needs to be said sometimes. There's no such thing as an
-
interruption in Pentecostal service.
-
No such thing as an interruption.
-
The altar is always open, Amen. And this thing can turn on a
-
dime at any moment in time. Amen.
-
And so just want to put that in the forefront of your mind.
-
Second Corinthians chapter #5 and verse #19 The Bible says, to
-
wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto
-
Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and have
-
committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
-
First Timothy chapter #3 and verse 16.
-
The Scripture reads like this, a man, and with our controversy,
-
great is the mystery of godliness.
-
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit scene of
-
angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the
-
world, received up in glory. The two phrases from these
-
verses in particular was that God was in Christ, and secondly
-
in Timothy that God was manifest in the flesh.
-
A little while this morning I want to talk to us about the
-
revelation of God in Christ Jesus, the revelation of God in
-
Christ Jesus, Amen. Can we talk to him one more time
-
before we get into the Word here today?
-
Father, we thank you, Jesus, God, that we can feel and
-
experience your presence. God, we're thankful, Lord, God
-
that you are have come down and Lord made yourself known to us.
-
I pray Lord you would continue to do so.
-
Lord, through the ministry of your word, y'all book alongside
-
us, enlighten Lord our minds. Let there be a spirit of
-
revelation. God upon our hearts.
-
And souls today as we share. The.
-
Good word of the Lord in this great gospel of Jesus Christ and
-
the lovely name of Jesus Christ that I pray, Amen of the church
-
say Amen, Amen. You may be seated this morning
-
in Jesus name, Apostle Paul, of course, writing one letter, 2
-
letters actually, one to individual, 1 to a church.
-
But he's talking about this great, this great doctrine of
-
scripture. And I think it's important today
-
to under score that this isn't a, a, a corner of Pentecost or
-
Apostolic that this is a biblical doctrine, right?
-
This is a biblical doctrine. The scripture, Amen.
-
And and Paul is writing here this revelation that God was in
-
Christ or that God was manifest in the flesh.
-
And that's really what was played out, whether we tend to
-
believe it or see it or or catch it or not in the Gospels of
-
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we see those things as the life in
-
the ministry of Christ. But Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
-
are so much more than just the life in the ministry of Christ.
-
They are the revelation of God in Christ in many regards.
-
As a matter of fact, we see in particular Matthew, Mark and and
-
Luke are oftimes called the synoptic Gospels.
-
And that seems real fancy and everything.
-
But when you think of synoptic, synoptic and you think of a
-
synopsis, something that's a summary of something, that's
-
basically it. Matthew, Mark and Luke and John
-
are a summary of the life of Christ.
-
And then you have you have John, though that's not in the
-
synoptic because John kind of stands alone.
-
As a matter of fact, if you read John, John has a very major
-
focus on the divinity or the deity of Christ Jesus in his
-
writing. And so one of the core, core
-
doctrines of the Scripture is that God who the Bible says is
-
spirit. Everybody say God is spirit.
-
God is spirit whenever he had his talking conversation with
-
the woman at the well and John chapter #4 this Bible tells us
-
in John 424 that God is a spirit and they that worship him must
-
worship him in spirit. And in truth in our English it
-
says God is a spirit as though he is one of many, but the
-
little a that little definitive word is not there in the Greek,
-
it's God is spirit, Amen. And so that we know that God is
-
Spears matter of fact, anytime we have references in Scripture,
-
particularly in the Old Testament, it's talking about
-
the finger of God, the hand of God, the face of God.
-
All of those are just wordings really spoken to us so that as
-
of human beings can relate with what's being said because as a
-
spirit of spirit has not flesh and bones as you and I have.
-
So when it's talking about face or finger or hand, it's talking
-
about things that we can relate to, right, that can help
-
understand. They give us some type of
-
relation, if you will, to God. And so we read in Scripture
-
though, in Corinthians and in Timothy, that that God who is
-
Spirit, that God who is spirit was manifest in the flesh, that
-
God who was in spirit was in Christ Jesus.
-
And we sometimes can get hung up off the word manifest.
-
What does that really mean? Well, the word manifest means to
-
make visible or known what had been hidden or unknown.
-
That's what manifest means. Manifest means to to make
-
realized or to show oneself. That's what manifest means, to
-
plainly, to plainly recognize. God was manifest in the flesh.
-
He was made known in the flesh. He was made visible.
-
A spirit we would for sure, unless it would choose to
-
represent itself in some way. It's not necessarily something
-
you see, it's invisible. But Christ Jesus, that flesh
-
made visible the invisible God. It made visible that invisible
-
spirit. It brought into being those
-
things that seemed to for a while through even the Old
-
Testament hidden to mankind until the babe was born in
-
Bethlehem's Manger and then people could realize and himself
-
was shown a man in that man Christ Jesus.
-
The Bible says in Hebrews chapter #1 and verse three it
-
says who and The Who. It's always good to see what the
-
who's are right? Who is this relating to?
-
You go back to verse #2 you understand it's relating to the
-
Son, the Son of God, or the Son of man, Christ Jesus.
-
Who be in the? Brightness of his the his who's
-
the his you go back to verse 1 and you see that the his is
-
referring to God and so we have this son who be in the
-
brightness of God's glory, the express image, the son or the.
-
Flesh Jesus Christ was the. The express image of his or
-
God's person upholding all things by the word of his power
-
when he hit, when he had by himself perched our sins sat
-
down on the right hand majesty on high and so Hebrews telling
-
this is that the man Christ Jesus was the express image or
-
you could even state it like this was the expression of God's
-
person in in the Greek language. That word there that is stated
-
as express image literally means this.
-
Christ Jesus was the figure stamped by God's person or
-
Christ Jesus was the exact copy of God's person.
-
Christ Jesus was the one that was imprinted, if we can say it,
-
with the divine reality of all who God's essence was is seen in
-
Christ Jesus. We see this even a New Testament
-
scripture over and over again in the epistles and in the letters
-
as well. The scripture tells us how the
-
fullness of the Godhead Amen was found in Christ Jesus.
-
It's represented there that when we look at the word person in
-
Hebrews 1 and 3, the word person there means a setting under or a
-
support or a basis, a foundation.
-
It's to place oneself under concealment, hidden.
-
It's it means unseen essence. So when we start putting these
-
definitions together that Jesus Christ was the exact copy of
-
God's hidden unseen essence, then there starts a light bulb
-
starts to come on. Amen.
-
Because Christ Jesus is the representation of everything
-
that God was and is a man and he was that visible to mankind in
-
his human flesh. We read in John 1, the Gospel of
-
John 1 and verse #18 these words then though the Bible.
-
Says that no man has seen God, no man has seen God at any time.
-
The only begotten Son, which is Speaking of Christ Jesus, which
-
is in the bosom of the Father, and the bosom is always a place
-
of honor. All right.
-
In the bosom of. The Father, He or Christ Jesus
-
have declared Him. That word declared in the Greek
-
actually means he revealed him. Christ Jesus revealed God to us.
-
Christ Jesus revealed God to us. No man had ever.
-
Seen God again. There are things called like
-
theophanies in the Old Testament where God would somehow express
-
himself in some form where they could get a glimpse, if you
-
will, of God. No man could.
-
Really, just ever look upon God. His Holiness was so profound
-
that the common man just could not look.
-
Upon God in the. Brilliance of his spirit, but
-
whenever God a man chose to impregnate Mary and his spirit
-
overshadowed, told her and made himself a body.
-
Galatians 44 tells us about that he was made of a woman and made
-
himself a body. That spirit had an encasement,
-
if you will, to express itself through and in at that moment in
-
time. I want to go to John.
-
I got everybody said a lot of scripture.
-
Yeah, we love the Bible around here.
-
Got a lot of scripture today. John chapter #10 and verse #24
-
the Bible says, then came the Jews round about him, Speaking
-
of Jesus, and said unto him, How long does thou make us to doubt
-
if thou be Christ or the anointed?
-
1 the Messiah Tell us plainly. And verse 25 Jesus answered
-
them. These are Jesus words I told you
-
and you believe not the same works that I do in my Father's
-
name. They bear witness of me.
-
Notice he says the works that I do, Jesus says the same works
-
that I do in my father's name. They're bearing witness of me.
-
They're giving you a revelation about me according to my works.
-
As a matter of fact, on the day of Pentecost, a part of Peter's
-
message and remember Acts 238, the repent be baptized is really
-
Peter's response to a question. His message happened before the
-
question ever came. He began to talk to them about
-
the Messiah and the Christ, how they had crucified him.
-
And he got them to identify that they had.
-
And they felt horrible within themselves and thought, well now
-
what are we going to do if we have crucified our Messiah,
-
right? That's where they come with the
-
question, what shall we do? Because they wanted to know what
-
they should do about their understanding.
-
About what they had. Done.
-
And so then he gives his response.
-
But Peter even told them at Pentecost.
-
He said in in Acts 2/22, he said Jesus Christ was a man that was
-
approved by God that were to prove there means he was
-
authenticated that that Jesus Christ was a man that was
-
authenticated by God. And it goes on to tell us how
-
God I authenticated Jesus Christ by the miracles and the wonders
-
and the signs that God did through Christ.
-
Hey man, God was working through the man Christ Jesus in that
-
earthly ministry of some 33 and and and and and a third or so
-
years here up on this earth. That's the reason why different
-
times and scriptures. You see even his own disciples
-
with a bit of bewilderment and say what what manner of man is
-
this man right because this is just different than someone
-
that's a carpenter's son. This is different than even just
-
a Old Testament prophet. What manner of man are we
-
contending with here and he says well the God has authenticated
-
or approved this man Christ Jesus through the works and
-
through the wonders because to a common man to the commoner to a
-
1st century, if you will Jew of that day in the New Testament
-
they. Seem.
-
Jesus Christ as a man that was trying to be like God.
-
They seen Jesus Christ as a man that was trying to pattern or
-
emulate after God, which they were real close but didn't quite
-
have it totally. What we had was really God.
-
Who had come down in the likeness of man, He men.
-
And so trying to reveal Himself to mankind, He was God, He made
-
himself a body, He undwelt that body.
-
And as some state, somebody was stated like this, that God, you
-
know, made Himself. A man, a fleshly human body.
-
Look what Jesus says, Jesus Christ, that many will attest
-
and say He's the Son of God, the Son of man.
-
In John chapter #10 and verse #30 Jesus says I and my Father
-
one verse 31. Then the Jews took up stones
-
again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good
-
works have I shooed you from my Father.
-
Right there were there were the miracles, the sangs, the
-
wonders, the breaking, the multiplying, the bread, all
-
these sundry things. He said, For which of those
-
works do you stone me? He says, Which of those works?
-
What miracle, what wonder, What is it?
-
What's the purpose and the reason?
-
Then if you stoning me which of those works?
-
Look what the Jews come. Back with in verse 33, the Jews
-
answered him, saying for a good work we stone thee not, but for
-
blasphemy, because that thou being a man make us thyself God.
-
See, they hadn't yet totally caught the revelation that this
-
man Christ Jesus God was in Christ that God had been
-
manifested in the flesh because in a Jew's mind, and this is
-
absolutely true. There was one God, huh.
-
Here, O Israel, Deuteronomy 6/4 here, O Israel, the Lord our God
-
is 1 Lord. We read in Isaiah about the
-
creation and he constantly uses the phrases he did it by himself
-
alone. He's repetitive with that.
-
That's that's, that's the, that's the milk that the Jews
-
were brought up on. And so when they saw another
-
individual upon the land that we're doing the works of what
-
they seem to know as only the fingerprint God, they thought,
-
are you trying to introduce another God to me?
-
No, he wasn't trying to introduce another God to them.
-
He was trying to introduce himself to them through the,
-
through the man Christ Jesus, Amen.
-
He wanted them to know that he was the great God of heaven,
-
that the prophets and those that had owed had had worship and
-
serve. He had just come down to them in
-
now a visible form that they could touch, they could handle,
-
they could experience in their humanity, Amen.
-
Something that they could see with their own eyes.
-
And no, they weren't going to stone him for his works.
-
They were going to stone him because they he was testifying.
-
And as a man, Jesus Christ, that he was God.
-
You know something else That's very interesting that when you
-
see all of the the trial of Jesus Christ leading up to his
-
crucifixion, we read many times that Jesus did not open his
-
mouth with all the different accusations that they brought
-
against him. He never said a word until they
-
ever questioned him about his identity.
-
The only time that you see Jesus responding back to those that
-
have him on trial is whenever it comes to His.
-
Identity. And that's when he's going to
-
speak up. You say that I'm the king of the
-
Jews and, and he starts because by that time he's wanting to
-
peel back the the layers of the onion so people will know who he
-
is and think here for a moment, folks, he has to be careful with
-
this because that's going to be the very reason why they put him
-
on the tree. And there's a timetable.
-
He has a God, folks, we are if we would really dig in deep, we
-
would be overwhelmed by the preciseness and the accuracy of
-
our God. You know why Jesus of times he
-
healed people, did those works and he would even.
-
And tell 1 he said, now go and tell no man about this, right?
-
I mean, I mean, my, my most comical one I can think of in
-
Scripture is whenever he heals, the man's the the mute and he
-
can now talk and he's like, don't talk about it to anybody.
-
I mean, Can you imagine the absurdity?
-
You haven't had the ability to have speech, and Jesus enables
-
you now to talk. Again.
-
But he don't want you to talk to anybody about what just happened
-
to you. Now you want to talk about the
-
best gift secret in the New Testament Scripture?
-
That's that guy. And he's all the time telling
-
them that the reason being is because if people learn things
-
too quickly, then the timetable would get shifted.
-
They'd want to put him on the tree quicker than what he needed
-
to be on the tree. He had a day, he had a Passover
-
in mind winning. He needed to be there in order
-
to fulfill all scripture of the Old Testament in order for these
-
things to come about. And so he he's very careful
-
about all this. But look at this.
-
He said again, this this man Christ Jesus, Peter said, was
-
approved or authenticated by God, by his wonders, by his.
-
It works by all these things. Jesus just testified that in
-
John 10, even to these people. Amen.
-
By what work are you going to do this?
-
You know, because I know I understand I'm doing some things
-
that seems to have the fingerprint of God on it right?
-
And So what work? Look at the Scripture Isaiah
-
prophesied of this day. I've spoken to this, no doubt to
-
several of. You and even collectively
-
before, but Isaiah prophesied of a day when God would come, the
-
Bible says in Isaiah 35. And Brother Mason, I'll say
-
thank you in advance this morning.
-
You see the Scripture Mass up there?
-
Amen. Isaiah 35 and verse 4 it says
-
say to them this is Isaiah the prophet.
-
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, be strong, fear
-
not, behold your God. Future will come with vengeance,
-
even God with a recompense, He will come and save.
-
You. 1st 5 Everybody say then, then the eyes of the blind shall
-
be opened, and the ears of the death shall be unstopped.
-
Then shall the lame man leap as an heart, and the tongue of the
-
dumb sing. For in the wilderness shall
-
waters break out, and streams in the desert.
-
He says, There's coming a day your God will come with
-
vengeance and recompense, and he will save you.
-
He says you'll know that day will have that day has come.
-
Whenever there are blind eyes that are being open.
-
Whenever there are deaf ears that are being unstopped,
-
whenever the lame are walking you're.
-
We're going to know in that moment that your God has come.
-
Folks, whenever we start following the ministry of the
-
Lord Jesus Christ in the New Testament Scriptures, what do we
-
see Start. Happening blind eyes are being
-
open, the deaf are being able to hear, the mute is being able to
-
sing Amen. All the lame is being able to
-
walk. That was a sign that was to
-
authenticate if you will, the Lord Jesus Christ that their God
-
have come. Isaiah prophesied he will and
-
this is how you know when that moment has happened when these
-
things start to come about Jesus Christ.
-
He open eyes of the blind opened deaf ears healed the lane the
-
mute he what they need to know that that Jesus Amen wasn't
-
another God. It wasn't something that was
-
trying to imitate God. He was as a Corinthian said, God
-
in Christ. He was as written to Timothy,
-
God manifest in the flesh. The prophet Isaiah wanted them
-
to. To recognize, hey, our God has
-
come, he is here, He has arrived, He is present, Amen.
-
And so these signs were so profound that that Jesus Christ
-
was God that often again, Jesus would tell the people now don't
-
tell anybody about what's going on.
-
Amen. And no doubt it finally came to
-
the place that they're going to charge him with, with blasphemy
-
and things of this nature, because again, he had a very
-
careful timetable he's trying to keep here.
-
As a matter of fact, in, in in John Chapter 11, which is the
John 11 chapter mention
-
story of of Lazarus's being called from the grave.
-
The Bible says in verse 46, but some of them went their ways to
-
the Pharisees and told them the things that Jesus had done.
-
We have a mix around whenever Lazarus is brought from the tomb
-
and there's some that's kind of cutting off and going to go talk
-
to the Pharisees. Those that try to keep to the
-
letter of the law about this Jesus and what he's he just
-
raised somebody from the dead. Verse 47 said then gathered the
-
chief priest, Oh boy, and the Pharisees a council and said
-
what do we for this man doeth many miracles.
-
They identified that Jesus was performing yes, many miracles at
-
that moment, sister Sheila, those chief priests and
-
Pharisees should have said he's here.
-
They should have looked at one another and said this is the one
-
did not even Jesus tell them and he did in John 10.
-
He said if I do not the works of my Father, he says believe me
-
not if I don't do the works of God, if I don't do the works of
-
the Spirit which God is, he says, believe me not, he says,
-
but if I if I can say the inverse of that.
-
But if I am, believe me. Believe on me and believe who I
-
am. And so I, I got to run this
-
morning. Amen.
-
I want to concentrate on, on about 3:00 or so, 3 or so
-
notable actions of Jesus here in the New Testament Scripture.
-
Number one, you all recalled the stealing of the storm when he
-
was on the ship asleep and then he stealed the storm.
-
I want to look at that. I also want to look on whenever
-
he walked on the water, remember The Walking on the water episode
-
and also want to concentrate upon maybe the mound of
-
transfiguration. If we can go to Mark chapter #5
-
there by OK Mark chapter #5 and verse #35 starting.
-
I'm just going to read this story real quick to kind of
-
refresh it in our minds here today.
-
Mark chapter #5 and verse #35 four 435 Sorry. 435 The Bible
-
says, And the same day when the even was come, he saith unto
-
them, Let us Passover, and to the other side.
-
And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as
-
he was in the ship, and there were also with him other little
-
ships. And there arose a great storm of
-
wind, the waves beaten to the ship, so that it was now full.
-
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow.
-
Always wondered where that pillow came from.
-
And they awake him, and say unto him, Master, cares thou not that
-
we perish? And he arose and rebuked the
-
wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still in the wind
-
season. There was a great calm.
-
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful?
-
How is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly and
-
said one to another, Look at this.
-
What manner of man is this that even the wind and the sea obey
-
him? That's that's interesting.
-
I think for us this morning that after this happening, after the
-
calming of the sea and the wind, that these disciples that have
-
been an intimate relationship with him are bewildered.
-
Like what? What manner of man is this?
-
And no particularly that this, the wind and the sea obey him.
-
Now, they could be like some other people, right?
-
They could just talk. And many people did just chalk
-
Jesus up like some Old Testament prophet because even whenever he
-
met with his disciples one time around Caesarea Philippi and he
-
posed the question, who do men say that I am?
-
You want to know what, what's, what's culture saying?
-
And some are saying, well, some are saying that you're Jeremiah
-
that's a prophet, or that you're Elias.
-
Prophet or one of the prophets, right, That that was the common
-
theme among the people of his day.
-
Surely he's like one of the prophets.
-
And so they could at this moment just chalked it up just like all
-
the others. You know, it's just like a Old
-
Testament prophet, but God used Christ.
-
Jesus did a miraculous wonder and work here, right?
-
That's authenticating who he is, that's approving who he is.
-
And so there's something about this event that distinguishes
-
him. In the eyes of a 1st century
-
Jew, just from being another Old Testament prophet, other
-
prophets of the Old Testament, some of them God wrought
-
miracles, yes, of course, by their hands as well.
-
But there was no echo of them being divine, no echo of them
-
being a God of any sort. But the disciples are picking up
-
on something. What manner of man?
-
They're picking up on this otherness about this man Christ
-
Jesus, because the wind and the sea obey him.
-
Now we we see in the Old Testament everybody OK we see in
-
the Old Testament the God of creation has demonstrated his
-
power throughout the Old Testament over the forces of
-
wind and sea. We see in the book of Job, Job
Job 26 chapter mention
-
chapter 26 and verse. 12 The Bible speaks that God divided.
-
The sea with his power. Psalms one O 4 and verse 3
-
describes the Lord as walking on the wings of the wind.
-
Verse #7 even describes him as rebuking the waters, God doing
-
these things and them fleeing. In Psalms 106 and verse 9 it
-
even has. The record, it's reflecting
-
backwards. To to the book of Exodus.
-
But in the Psalms it's reflecting backwards in Psalms
-
one O 6 and verse 9 and it records the Red Sea crossing,
-
how it was God that rebuked the Red Sea.
-
Well, you say, well, Moses was there.
-
Yeah, Moses. Had a rod and Moses had an arm
-
and Moses had obedience. But that was the work of God,
-
right? And let's just get real today.
-
Let's pause for a commercial. There is no such thing as
-
another divine healer except God.
-
If there's a divine healing crusade, it's not because of the
-
man, it's because of the God of the man.
-
All right. OK, so in pursuit of all those
-
things, pursue him, right, in pursuit of all those things,
-
pursue Him. And so this is taking place.
-
But he so he rebuked the Red Sea and it dried up.
-
But in particular, and if you'll go there with me this morning,
-
look at Psalms one O 7 and starting with verse #23 this is
-
probably going. To sound very familiar or
-
similar at least to what we read in Mark chapter #4 read this
-
here. Look at it now.
-
Psalms one O 7 and verse 23. They that go down to the sea,
-
and ships that do business in great waters, these see the
-
works of the Lord in his wonders, in the deep.
-
For he commandeth and raiseth the stormy wind which lifted up
-
the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven,
-
they go down again to the depths.
-
Their soul is melted because of trouble.
-
They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and
-
are at wits in. Then they cry into the Lord in
-
their trouble, and He bringeth them out of their distress.
-
He Speaking of this Lord, this God maketh the storm a calm, so
-
that the waves thereof are still.
-
They then are they glad because they be quiet, So He bringeth
-
them unto their desired haven. Now you cannot read that, having
-
already read Mark chapter #4 and not see some similarities and
-
parallels here in Scripture. What I wanted to point out to
-
you today that in Psalm, in Psalm one O 7, in verse 23, we
-
have some sailors in a ship, all right.
-
But in Mark chapter #4 and verse 36, we have disciples in it,
-
boats, all right. When we look at Psalms one O 7
-
and verse 25, there's a stormy wind and waves.
-
In Mark 437 there's a stormy wind and some waves.
-
In Psalms verse 26 of that chapter 107 the the those that
-
are on the ship in the storm, their courage melts away.
-
Then in Mark chapter #4, verses 38 and 40 of.
-
Chapter 4 The disciples are afraid in the Old Testament.
-
They cried those sellers. They cried out to the Lord in
-
verse 28. In verse 38 of Mark 4, there's a
-
cry out to Jesus from His disciples.
-
In verse 29 in the Old the Lord God stealed the storm in the New
-
Testament. In verse 39 and Mark 4, Jesus
-
Christ steals the storm in the Old Testament.
-
In verse 30 of Psalm 107, the waves of the sea now are quiet.
-
In the New Testament where Jesus is on the boat in verse 39,
-
there was a great calm. Now folks, listen, when it comes
-
to Lord, I don't believe in coincidences.
-
I believe in divine intersections.
-
I believe in divine intersections.
-
I think not. Neither was it, I believe to the
-
disciples on the boat a coincidence or they would not
-
have stated what manner of man is this, that even the wind and
-
the sea obey them. Because a 1st century Jew is
-
going to be very well acquainted with all of the scripture of the
-
Old Testament. They learned it, they memorized
-
it, they know it. Whenever they were in that
-
circumstance of a boat with sea and wind going and Christ shows
-
up and steals it, guarantee you this, their mind is going back
-
to a Psalm 107, how there were some sailors that went down in
-
the deep, their Rosa wind, their Rosa wave, but God Almighty
-
stealed all that. But now they have the man Christ
-
Jesus that's doing what God had done.
-
That's doing what God did in the Old Testament.
-
There's coming a revelation to the disciples.
-
What manner of man is this? He's more than a man.
-
He's the God. Man.
-
He's God manifest in the flesh. He's God.
-
Oh yes, he's God in Christ. Amen.
-
Then you can't start talking about the revelation of who he
-
is without Him coming. Near.
-
That's right, some say. Amen, Mark chapter 6, New
Mark 6 chapter mention
-
Testament, we go over just one chapter.
-
Mark chapter #6 or a couple chapters rather verse #45 and I,
-
and I hope no one's weary with me reading the scripture because
-
there's a lot of times, you know, a lot of times sermons are
-
packed full of Scripture and I just got little references after
-
it and I never even make mention of it.
-
But for this today, I want you to know, look, it's in there
-
right in the Word of God, OK? Mark chapter #6 and verse 45.
-
And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into a
-
ship, to go to the other side before and to Bethesda, while he
-
sent away the people. And when he had sent them away,
-
he departed into a mountain to pray.
-
And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea.
-
This is Mark chapter #6 verse #47 when when even was coming,
-
the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
-
Verse 48 And He saw them tolling in the rowing, for the wind was
-
contrarying to them. About the fourth watch of the
-
night He cometh unto them walking upon the sea, and would
-
have passed by. Folks, there's so many pits we
-
could make here today, but I can't do it.
-
OK, Amen. But when they saw Him walking
-
upon the sea, they suppose it had been a spirit, and cried
-
out, for they all saw him and were troubled.
-
And immediately He talked with them and sayeth unto them, Be of
-
good cheer it is, I be not afraid.
-
And he went up unto them and to the ship, And the wind seized,
-
and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and
-
wondered, Well, for number one, we have somebody walking on
-
water, OK? I mean, that's just not a
-
everyday New Testament occurrence.
-
That's not everyday Old Testament occurrence.
-
Someone's walking on water amid the wind and the waves.
-
Secondly, whenever you look at this account, the other the
-
other gospels of Matthew and look at it in Matthew 14 and
-
John 6, the other accounts of this event all have Jesus saying
-
to some effect when he responds, it is I be not afraid.
-
That's what we have in our good old King James 1611 Bibles.
-
It is I be not afraid. However, I have a a interlinear
-
translation that gives me the Greek and the English side by
-
side and in the Greek it literally says this you and it's
-
going to sound a little weird because of the arrangement.
-
Be you taking courage. I am.
-
Not. Be you fearful.
-
Let me say this one more time. Be you taking courage.
-
I am not be you fearful. Now listen, but alone we got to
-
get on our 1st century Jew eyes to a 1st century Jew here in the
-
language I am has significance. There's more going on here than
-
Jim. Jesus, just saying hey guys,
-
it's me. There's so much more going on
-
than him just Hey guy, it's me if in the Greek, I am I am is a
-
Old Testament divine name of God that was revealed to Moses in
-
the desert when he commissioned them to be the.
-
Deliverer for the Children of Israel.
-
Exodus 3, verse 13. Let's look at it now.
-
This feels like Bible study. I know.
-
Well it is. I hope every sermon and anything
-
that's stated has some Bible study in it.
-
And Moses said unto God, this is Exodus 313.
-
And Moses said unto God, he's had this burning Bush
-
experience. Behold, when I come, God's
-
commissioned him, go be the deliverer.
-
Go do this. Moses has been a little
-
inadequate. He says, Behold, when I come
-
unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them.
-
The God of your Father's have sent me unto you, and they shall
-
say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them?
-
And God said unto Moses, I am. That I am.
-
And he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I
-
am have sent me unto you. And God said, moreover, and to
-
Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord
-
God of your father's, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the
-
God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you.
-
Know now this is my name. Forever, and this is my memorial
-
unto all generations. The I am in Scripture and
-
brother Mason, you correct me. I believe the, the, the the
-
Hebrew rendering there. If I am that I am is like Aya
-
Asha aya. If I'm not, if I'm not mistaken,
-
Amen. But nonetheless that I am in
-
Scripture is God's divine name that he revealed unto Moses,
-
Amen. It expresses it's full of many.
-
I know it's just I am, but it's full of meaning.
-
It's meaning means is that he is infinite, that he is the
-
personal God behind everything and to whom everything.
-
Must finally betrays that he is the author of life.
-
That phrase I AM that I am signals the truth that nothing
-
else can define God but God. What did God even say in crazy?
-
He said there's none beside me. There's none that can compare to
-
me folks, I've had people receive the baptism of the Holy
-
Ghost God Spirit and they start to say I can't explain it why?
-
Because nothing can really define God except God.
-
We don't have the words, the vocabulary, but whenever he says
-
I am that I am that can be translated these ways, I am that
-
I am I am who I was. I am who I will be.
-
I will be who I was. I am what I caused to be, and
-
one of my favorites. I will be all that is necessary
-
as the occasion arises. That's his revelation unto
-
Moses. That's how God identified
-
himself to Moses. Someone say Amen but isn't
-
interesting now that a New Testament scripture the man
-
Christ Jesus walks on the water and some of the first words he
-
gives to them to allay their fears.
-
Amen to encourage them in our English Bibles it says it is I
-
but literally in the Greek it came forth as I am.
-
Oh a 1st century Jews going to latch on to that idea of I am
-
because they're going to remember that is the name that
-
God shared with Moses. Jesus was not trying to tell
-
him, just here am I. He's trying to tell them I'm
-
God. I'm God.
-
I'm the very one that met Moses on the backside of the desert,
-
and I'm meeting you right now in the middle of your storm.
-
I am Amen. Is everybody OK?
-
OK. Just want to make sure because
-
Jesus starts to drop some other layers of revelation for us
-
really in Mark chapter #6 there in verse #40 back to verse #48
-
but this right, He's walking on the water forth watch of the
-
night and looked in at that last couple of phrases walking up on
-
the sea and would have passed by them and would have passed by
-
them. Doctor Brant Petrie says this.
-
He says in the Old Testament, the expression passing by is
-
repeatedly used to describe what God does when he appears to
-
human beings. Let's look at Scripture.
-
Exodus 33, they're about ready to make their tread along to the
-
promised land. And Moses has a conversation
-
with God and says, God, I'd really like to see your glory,
-
Really, really like to see your glory.
-
And Exodus 33 and verse 19, God has conversation with him.
-
He says, well, there's a place beside me.
-
I'll put you in the cleft of the rock, right, And I'm going to
-
pass by. I'm going to cover you as I go
-
and you'll see the back parts. Look at it verse 19 of Exodus
-
33. And he which is referenced to
-
God said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee and I
-
will proclaim the name. That's this is also and I will
-
proclaim the name of the Lord before thee.
-
So we have in in context here in Old Testament God, He's passing
-
by, but He's also declaring His name.
-
I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee, and will be
-
gracious, to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy,
-
on whom I will shew mercy. Skip down to verse #22 if you
-
will. And it shall come to pass, while
-
my glory passeth. By that I will put thee in the
-
cleft, the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass
-
by. Again, this is something that
-
God repeatedly does in the Old Testament Scripture.
-
Whenever He appears to humanity, there's a passing by moment.
-
Amen. Exodus 34 and verse #6 this is
-
still continuing with Moses's story here, just in the next
-
chapter of what actually happened.
-
And the Lord all capitals, Lord, which signifies that divine name
-
that He gave to Moses. Anytime you see that in
-
Scripture, all capital Lord, it's signifying that covenant
-
name. And the Lord passed by before
-
him and proclaimed the Lord, the Lord God, He's proclaiming His
-
name, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, abundant in
-
goodness and truth. So again, two things are
-
happening. He's passing by for them alone,
-
and he's proclaiming the name. Again, the Lord in all caps is
-
the covenant name of God revealed to Moses in Exodus
-
chapter #3 but in Mark, Jesus says I would have passed by and
-
he's showing up. And he's also proclaiming the
-
name I am that forever memorial name of God.
-
That's not enough. What happens when our prophet
-
Elijah leaves Mount Carmel and Jezebel told him, by tomorrow
-
this time you'll be like these prophets now that are dead.
-
He goes off to a wilderness place and goes even further
-
without his companion, his servant to the mount of God.
-
He's in a cave. The Spirit of the Lord shows up.
-
On that mountain. And God calls him out of that
-
mountain. And the Bible says that the Lord
-
passes by. You look at it in first Kings
-
1911 for your own looking, it says.
-
And behold, the Lord pass by again.
-
His presence is visiting a man in the terminology of passing by
-
is signifying that visitation of God with humanity in the Old
-
Testament Amen again pointing to them now Jesus Christ in the New
-
Testament Amen passings and he would have passed by and also
-
declaring his name. Everybody doing OK.
-
Hey man, let's go a little further.
-
I'm looking, I'm keeping track of time I'm running.
-
I really am. This will be a good one to go
-
back and listen to again. Matthew 14 verse 33 gives the
-
same account of Christ walking on the water in this again, the
-
harmony of the Gospels from the different perspective.
-
Sometimes we get details. We didn't get one of the
-
Gospels. You put them together, you have
-
harmony, right? Right.
-
You get, it's like, it's like there's an accident and you have
-
different eyewitnesses. You talk to each eyewitnesses.
-
Someone probably caught something that someone didn't.
-
And when you put it all together, you get a full picture
-
then of what really happened. And so so here in Matthew we
-
have some other details that after this walking on the water
-
this it is I or I am scenario all took place.
-
It tells us in Matthew 1433. Then they were then they that
-
were in the ship came and worshiped worshiped him Speaking
-
of Jesus saying of the truth, thou art the Son of God.
-
Hold on now, if Jesus is just another man, this is getting
-
weird because we have other men falling down and worshiping a
-
man. I mean that.
-
Would be pure idolatry. As a matter of fact, what
-
whenever Jesus was speaking back in John Ford to that woman at
-
the well and he talked to her about that.
-
The hour cometh that the Father sought out true worshippers,
-
right Brother Malone to worship what?
-
The Father or the Spirit or if you will, God in spirit and in
-
truth. So that explains that part,
-
Brother Fred, that explains to me then part of true worship is
-
worshiping God as spirit. So where are these disciples
-
participated in true worship as they're falling down and
-
worshiping the man Christ Jesus? Everybody know, right?
-
Just as we'll pull it together. But it's just a caution when we
-
get to the Book of Revelation and John the revelator is having
-
all these visions about things that were happening would
-
happen, so and so forth. Even in the end of time, there's
-
an Angel that's going along with him and he's seeing these
-
visions and some of the things that he's seeing he is
-
overwhelmed by. And at different times the Bible
-
says that he fall down and worship like the Angel there.
-
And the Angel says, buddy, get up, don't worship me.
-
Why? Because the angels know that
-
only God is the one to be worshipped.
-
And you see, even the scripture, you see some of the disciples,
-
they going into a city and the people of the city think all
-
this is Jupiter, this is Mercury's.
-
They've fallen down. Our gods have fallen down to,
-
you know, earth. And they go out with sacrifice
-
to worship them and and Paul and some of their disciples.
-
Says, no, get up. Don't worship us.
-
We be men just like you are, because no one but God, no one
-
but God was to be worshipped. But here in Matthew, here comes
-
some other men that's falling down and worshipping what by
-
just. All.
-
Those of a natural eye would be another man, but they had a
-
revelation that this is more than just another man.
-
God is in Christ. God is manifesting the flesh.
-
They weren't doing anything wrong.
-
They weren't doing anything correct.
-
They were just following the revelation of who they knew that
-
man, Christ Jesus, to be. He was the Almighty God, the
-
creator of the universe that spent all things in orbit
-
walking in human flesh and humanity.
-
Hallelujah. Someone say Amen, I'm hurrying.
-
We can do this. God help us.
-
Mark chapter #9 If you'll just allow me, I won't read it, but
-
if you want to read Mark 9 verses 2 through 9, you can
-
write down the tab of paper or something like that to look back
-
on because we got to run. You can also find it in Matthew
-
17 and Luke 9. It's also Matthew 17 and Luke 9.
-
You want to see the other parallel accounts?
-
What we have is Jesus taking just a very select few of his
-
disciples up the Mount of Transfiguration.
-
All right, while he is there, he is transformed before his
-
disciples. The Bible talks about his, his
-
garment himself almost becoming gleaming like white, like no
-
fooler could wipe them, right. And there's, there's also then
-
this appearance. Watch it now there's this
-
appearance of both Moses and Elijah up on this mountain.
-
Peter's taken all this any second.
-
Man, this, this was a good trip to go on.
-
I'm glad I got my ticket for this one.
-
You know, this is a good trip to go on.
-
He says, man, this is great. We'll build 3 temples.
-
We'll build one for Moses, one for Elijah, and one for you
-
Christ. It's good for us to be here.
-
And there's a cloud that show up and there were some things
-
spoken and when the cloud went away, it was Jesus only.
-
Now, folks, there have been all kinds of applications and such
-
for the purpose of Moses and Elijah appearing on the mountain
-
there with Jesus. There's been things spoken about
-
how, you know, Moses no doubt is a representative of the law.
-
He's the one that the law giver, so to speak, that brought that
-
down from from the mount of God and gave it to the people.
-
And others will look at Elijah and think about him being such a
-
profound prophet throughout the Old Testament.
-
And many people see then on Mount Transfiguration, Jesus has
-
a representation then of the law and of the prophets right there
-
before him. You know, and, and, and, and,
-
and how even Jesus said in his earthly ministry in the Gospels,
-
he even said it one time, he said that all the law and the
-
prophets are talking about me. When you read the law and the
-
prophets, they're talking about me.
-
All right. And so, you know, possibly a, a,
-
a, a possibility. And even Philip declared that
-
such writings were written about Jesus Christ in John chapter #1
-
He said such writings were written about him.
-
So this would be a very momentous occasion.
-
Some even look at Moses as being the deliverer of the children of
-
Israel from Egypt. And so there's that aspect of
-
deliverance. And then also Elijah, the
-
different miracles that were wrought by his hands.
-
And then again, seeing that there's this amount of
-
transfiguration, there's the Lord, there's a representation
-
of deliverance and miracles that's upon the mountain.
-
All of that is wonderful and great.
-
But something else we need to note, and I'm just doing this
-
just for purposes today, is that both Moses and Elijah, and it's
-
a word, I stayed there earlier and it's just a fancy word, but
-
they had theophanies, meaning they had appearances of God on
-
mountains as well. We already talked about the two
-
times when God was going to pass by Moses put him in the cleft of
-
the rock, and Elijah, he passed by him as well.
-
They both had appearances, if you will, of God.
-
And God told Moses in Exodus 33, he told him, you can't see my
-
face. God told Moses, you can't see my
-
face. You'll remember that he, you'll
-
remember that. God said, I'll put my hand, I'll
-
cover you with my hand. You won't see my face because my
-
glory is so just brilliant in this form, the common man.
-
This, this just the brilliance of all this, you get my back
-
parts. And so then we see then he
-
passed by Elijah and the Bible even tells us in verse 13 and
-
1st Kings 19, verse 13, the Bible even states that Elijah
-
covered his face with his mantle.
-
Covered his face with his mantle.
-
He would not be able to see the face of God.
-
Interestingly enough, these events of Moses and Elijah took
-
place on the same mount, separated in time, but took
-
place on the same how both could not see the face of God.
-
They heard him, his voice, they witnessed his power.
-
Elijah saw the the effects of the earthquake and the wind and
-
the fire, but God wasn't in all that.
-
Remember, saw the effects of all those things, but none of them
-
could witness the face of God. Just stay here, but on Mount
-
Transfiguration, going to bring back Elijah.
-
I'm going to bring back Moses. They couldn't look on the face
-
of God then because of the form that God was in.
-
But I'm going to give them an opportunity that they didn't
-
have before this time. I'm going to bring them back now
-
and they'll be able to look up on, in essence, the face of God
-
because God has now made himself a body, ladies and gentlemen.
-
All of God that they ever saw was in the face of the Lord
-
Jesus Christ. Hear me today.
-
All of that invisible God that they ever saw was in that
-
tangible face of in person of the Lord Jesus Christ, God
-
manifest in the flesh, God in Christ.
-
When they saw the face of Jesus and lyrics have been written
-
about it. You've seen the face of God.
-
Oh yes, stand with me today. Did not.
-
Did not John say in the beginning was the word?
-
The word was with God? The word was God?
-
The same verse 2 was in the beginning with God.
-
Skip the verse 14 and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among
-
us, and what did we do? We beheld the glory as the only
-
begotten of the Father, full of grace and full of truth.
-
I did. And Moses, you can only see the
-
back parts, but whenever Christ comes, you're going to look upon
-
the face of God. You're going to through the man
-
Christ Jesus God's in Christ God's manifest.
-
So we have all these Old Testament works, the miraculous
-
works of God, man, they're all overwhelming as we see them.
-
But folks, when we see them and even get in the New Testament,
-
they're testifying to the truth that God is in Christ.
-
That's the works, the wonders. That's how Peter said God would
-
approve and authenticate that. Man Christ Jesus.
-
And in Corinthians it told us that God was in Christ
-
reconciling the world to himself.
-
Jesus Christ walking in Jerusalem and Samaria and around
-
Galilee. God was in that man and he was
-
pulling. There was rivers of living water
-
that was pulling upon humanity, trying to reckon them, reconcile
-
them back into a relationship with God that was broken.
-
All the way back at Eden, God was reconciling man unto himself
-
through the man Christ Jesus. The Bible teach about that.
-
Christ Jesus is a mediator between God and men.
-
The man, Christ Jesus, he's mediating, He's closing the gap
-
in our relationship. That sin put a wedge and a chasm
-
there, but Christ Jesus is mediating.
-
Hallelujah that God in Christ is closing the gap for you and I to
-
repair, restore, reconcile the relationship that we had.
-
He's revealing the unseen essence.
-
Jesus Christ is revealing the unseen essence of the Almighty
-
God. To us.
-
He has authority over nature. He.
-
He had all his His miracles and His declaration then even to
-
them all times, not just in what we seen this morning of I.
-
Am all of that confirms his identity.
-
The question today then for us is this do you recognize him?
-
Pharisees refused to recognize that it was evident, but those
-
those very works identified Jesus as God.
-
They refused to acknowledge that there's some disciples and I
-
hope we're among them today that same but what manner of man Even
-
so much that finally at Caesarea Philippi after you ask them what
-
do men what is culture saying he gets a person says who do you
-
say Peter says thou art the Christ the son of the living
-
God. I'm here to tell you today
-
because we've already felt him here.
-
God's not some distant deity. He became very real to the 1st
-
century Jews through his humanity, but he's even drawn
-
closer to us of this age through His spirit being able to now be
-
inside of you. He's not a God that's afar off.
-
But he's close and he's still offering this reconciliation.
-
He's still offering this reconciliation.
-
Believe in him, ladies and gentlemen, this morning, not
-
just for his work's sake, but for who he is sake.
-
It's the revelation of God. In Christ Jesus, we can just bow
-
our heads all over this place, folks.
-
He wants, He wants to make himself known to you.
-
All these, these Pagan practices of Old Testament that they
-
believed that their God had certain control, like maybe over
-
a river or over the wind or over fertility, or they had control
-
over certain districts or regions that they could only
-
operate within certain sectors of land.
-
That that was their perimeter, that was their boundaries.
-
He told them the Old Testament Scripture, even the Israelites
-
did said our God, our God is a God of the hills and the
-
valleys. You know what they're saying,
-
There's not a scope, there's not a sector, there's not a region
-
that he just operates in and that's all.
-
He's the Lord of all. He's the God of gods.
-
He has all power. He's willing to exercise that
-
power here this morning. I wonder if we could just start
-
to sing a song today and if you would just be responsive.
-
I still feel His presence here this morning, even through the
-
teaching of His Word. Amen.
-
If you've never done it before, I want to, I want to gently
-
challenge you today. If you never just even raised a
-
hand, you might not have it extended fully up in air, But if
-
you've never just even raised a hand unto the Lord, which is
-
really an act of surrender when we do that.
-
If you never. Really.
-
Just even raised a hand. I challenge you.
-
People's eyes are closed, their heads are bowed.
-
No one's looking around but you. You could just take just a
-
little step of freedom today and raise that hand, Amen.
-
And just have an active surrender to the Lord.
-
And you're like Brother McGee earlier.
-
I didn't know what to do with what I felt.
-
I'm challenging you again today if you'll just just just maybe
-
by by emphasis of raising a hand as a surrender and just have
-
this in your heart and mind. Lord, I want whatever you have
-
for me. I want whatever you have for me.
-
And if, if what I was experiencing earlier was you,
-
God, then I want that to become more real to me than it's ever
-
been in my walk in life. God, I just want you to be more
-
real to me. God, if you could reveal
-
yourself to disciples and people throughout the New Testament, I
-
pray, God, that you bring revelation and enlightenment to
-
my heart and my mind. If you hunger for God, you
-
desire for God, that that's a proper prayer, that that's a
-
proper desire. Hallelujah.
-
Can we just reach out to him just with hands of surrender?
-
However that may look for you, maybe even accompanying your
-
voice with it. You can take to God the things
-
you don't understand, the things you may be confused about or, or
-
the things that that that just seem contrary to where you are.
-
That's all right. God's not put off or offended by
-
those type of things. You can be.
