The glory of the Lord rise among us, Amen.
-
He said he wanted the glory of the Lord to cover the earth as
-
the waters cover the sea, Amen. We need his glory, Amen.
-
Today, thankful for the presence of the Lord.
-
We have felt in this place over the past few services, in our
-
song service and our worship service.
-
Thank you to the praise singers and the praise band for leading
-
us, Amen, into the presence of the Lord.
-
That's important, That's important.
-
I want to be LED into His presence.
-
I want to sit at His feet. Amen.
-
And take some time to do so. You can stamp me this morning
-
and turn to the Gospel of Mark chapter #1 as you're standing.
-
Just a point of information, Sister McGee, and make mention
-
about our World Missions Commitment service that we had
-
and all of the commitments that were turned in after that.
-
For this year from the World Missions Commitment Service, we
-
have $904.50 per month that will be going.
-
You combine that with what goes from our church regularly
-
anyway, and you're talking about $1309.50 on a monthly basis that
-
goes from the church. We did not get to the World
-
Missions rally as a result of the weather that was pending and
-
no one knew the hour of it. But we did as a church, give
-
$1200 to Honduras for the Hirsch family as they start their
-
mission work down there in the country and the nation of
-
Honduras. So we're grateful, Amen.
-
That the Lord is, he blesses us. We, again, it's not my objective
-
here ever to have a large bank account.
-
I just want to be a piece of conduit through which it flows.
-
I'm not trying to build my Kingdom, trying to build his
-
Kingdom. And in fact, if I can get
-
somebody else in the area that I can't get to, such as a
-
missionary, then so be it. Because when they go get down in
-
glory there and speak a new tongues there, I've had a hand
-
in it here. Amen through giving, Amen.
-
Amen. And so until the whole world
-
knows Amen, that is our, that is our Commission from the Lord.
-
Mark chapter #1. Mark chapter #1 And also, and
-
I'm just kind of throwing this out ahead of time because I know
-
this is important. If you have plans and intentions
-
on going to the Indiana District can't meeting this year.
-
Registration will open on April the 28th.
-
That is a Monday. That is an important day.
-
If you plan on going, you better mark on your calendar because
-
you got to be on that like flies on on anything, bees on honey,
-
you know, flies on anything, but you want to be on top of that.
-
All right. And because you all know, I've
-
told you in past years that goes so quick anymore within just
-
less, I mean hours. It's booked all right on
-
grounds. And so you want to be mindful of
-
that. And my mind's kind of just not
-
there. I know Pastor Jonathan Vasquez
-
is our evening service and and brother David Ivy from Ohio is
-
in the morning services for the youth.
-
And so it will be good. Also some other things and we'll
-
have this for you and such, but some other things to be thinking
-
of a couple of revivals this year at the home church at
-
January the OR not January. That's already happened.
-
June the 1st through the 4th will be revival here.
-
That's a Monday through Wednesday, June 1st through the
-
4th with brother Adrian Sanford. And then in connection with our
-
annual chili supper and hayride, we're doing a little different
-
this year. We'll have our hayride, but on
-
that Sunday, the Sunday through Wednesday, we'll start revival
-
with Tyler and Kayla Smith's going to come back and be with
-
us. And so those are just a couple
-
of revivals. There's also a lot of other
-
stuff and perhaps we'll get, I'll get with Brother Alex and
-
we can make up some, some papers, some type of thing that
-
can get those major dates in your hands that you want to be
-
here for. Sorry to have you standing for
-
so long. Mark chapter #1 just a couple of
-
verses. Amen.
-
Today the Bible says, now after that John was put in prison,
-
Jesus came into Galilee preaching the gospel of the
-
Kingdom of God, verse 15 and saying the time is fulfilled and
-
the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent ye and believe the
-
gospel, Amen. For a little while this morning.
-
This really piggybacks off over last Sunday morning about the
-
revelation of God in Christ. This morning I want to talk to
-
you about the revelation of Jesus the Messiah.
-
All right, the New Testament Scripture, and it was all time
-
prophesied in the Old Testament about the Messiah of the Jewish
-
people that would come. And they were in many respects
-
looking for that Messiah. He did come in the man Christ
-
Jesus. But we'll see this morning that
-
even the Old Testament seems to relate to us that that Messiah
-
would be more than just a man, which is what we come to see
-
last week. He was divine, Amen.
-
And so we're going to look at that then this morning here, the
-
revelation of Jesus the Messiah. Let's talk to the Lord here.
-
Father, I love you, God, I thank you, Lord, for your goodness.
-
I thank you, Lord, for another opportunity to be in this house,
-
the Lord in this place. We're thankful, Lord, for your
-
spirit. We're thankful, Lord, for your
-
hand of safety, Lord, over this week.
-
And we appreciate Lord Jesus, that God, we pray, Lord,
-
continue to be with all those that are in need.
-
Let our minds be engaged with your word and you're able to
-
help her understanding God in this place.
-
In the name of Jesus Christ that I pray and the church say Amen.
-
Amen. You may be seated.
-
And just as another footnote to those revivals, yes, they are
-
Sunday through Wednesday. All right, We've done a lot of
-
revivals of the year, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
-
I'm trying to get a little bit more revival out of us, OK.
-
And so we're doing Sunday through Wednesday, and those are
-
two days you would already be here Sundays and Wednesday.
-
So just adding two more, which means when we would have revival
-
on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Friday and Saturday were two
-
days that you were typically here.
-
So you just move those and put them to Monday and Tuesday and
-
there you go. All right.
-
And so we're just going to try to do that.
-
It's been my experience when I wasn't evangelist.
-
I know the days of evangelism have changed, but if you can get
-
a series of services, sometimes things start to break as you
-
continue with some services that might not just happen in two
-
services. All right?
-
And so that's the purpose for it.
-
If you don't like it, you can talk to me.
-
It was my decision about it. Amen.
-
God bless you in Jesus name, Amen.
-
Amen. Mark chapter #1 And so the Bible
-
here in Scripture again, 1st century Jews were aware and they
-
were expectant of the Messiah. Many of them missed their
-
Messiah. Many of them even treated him
-
not as their Messiah. They missed it.
-
They saw it in many respects. A earthly Messiah, a political
-
king, someone that would come back and give them their Kingdom
-
back to them, right, that would deliver them from the Roman rule
-
that 1st century Jews were under whenever Jesus was even born and
-
during his earthly ministry, they were under the Rome that
-
under the rule of Rome, all right.
-
And so before Jesus is ascension then to heaven from the mount of
-
all of it, His disciples had picked up on this concept of
-
this Messiah personality in Jesus Christ.
-
They even spoke to him in Acts chapter #1 and verse 6.
-
They had a question that that conveys that they had picked up
-
on this personality Messiah in Jesus when they said in Acts 1
-
and 6, when they therefore were come together Speaking of his
-
disciples, they asked of him Jesus saying, Lord, wilt thou at
-
this time restore again the Kingdom to Israel?
-
So they're looking for someone to bring Israel back into this
-
autonomy of not being under Roman rule, but under their own
-
rule. And so the Messiahship then
-
though of Jesus Christ though encompass more than just a
-
natural Kingdom, right? The messiahship of Jesus Christ
-
was more than just restoring Israel back to a earthly Kingdom
-
place or a order of rule for Israel.
-
It it was about also a spiritual Kingdom, the messiahship of
-
Jesus Christ. And so the Old Testament, it
-
contains several. There's no way that we have the
-
time afforded us today to go through all of the Old Testament
-
prophecies that speak about the Messiah.
-
But there's things in the Old Testament, when you read them,
-
you start to understand man that sounds a lot like Christ Jesus
-
or what Christ Jesus accomplished their stuff
-
throughout the book and the prophet of Isaiah especially
-
like chapters 52 and 53 and such.
-
And there that many people will call it's talking about a
-
suffering servant when in reality it's talking about our
-
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who fits many of those
-
descriptions because it is he that's spoken of in those books
-
whose visage or his very being his his visage.
-
The way that he looked was so marred more than any man that
-
that his form was was more marred even than the sons of
-
men. That's talking about our Christ,
-
the beating, the Kadam 9 tells the the spear through his side.
-
All of those things are descriptions of him.
-
He's the one concerning the suffering servant that it's
-
Speaking of that would be despised.
-
All these different verbs, despised and rejected and
-
stricken and smitten, all of those are relating to our Lord.
-
He's the one that would be wounded and bruised and
-
chastised and beaten. The Bible even says with stripes
-
he would be. The Bible speaks of this one in
-
the Old Testament that would be cut off from the land of the
-
living. A man, that's our Lord.
-
He is the child that was born of a virgin, right?
-
Amen. That the Old Testament speaks
-
about the one upon whom which the government would be upon His
-
shoulders, and that He would have a Kingdom, right?
-
That was ordered and that was established with judgment.
-
This is just talking about Jesus Christ, and it's a matter of
-
fact. Jesus in his earthly ministry,
-
the 33 or so years that He was here upon the earth, He oftimes
-
referred to Himself and referred to his mission, and whenever He
-
did, He was really using passages from the book of Daniel
-
or from the prophet Daniel as he referred to Himself and his
-
mission. A standard way that Jesus talked
-
about himself in the New Testament is that he oftimes
-
talked about Himself as the Son of Man, the Son of Man.
-
Now for just any just regular reader, great, you know Son of
-
man. But for a 1st century Jew, their
-
mind is going back into the Old Testament and they are coupling
-
that with Daniel where the Son of man is mentioned in prophecy
-
in the book of Daniel. As a matter of fact, Daniel does
-
a very it's not like I got a validate God's word right.
-
It's like no, he does a good job.
-
Well of course he is, he's inspired of the Holy Ghost to
-
write what was written. But he'll, let me say he did a
-
great job, Amen Brother Zach, in writing and and webbing these
-
things together about how that Messiah that would come would be
-
the long-awaited king, but not just earthly king, but the
-
divine 1 Daniel really does this very well.
-
Amen. About bringing about a Kingdom,
-
yes, but more importantly A heavenly Kingdom, a spiritual
-
Kingdom. Throughout the New Testament
-
scripture, there's a lot of talk.
-
You read it in your Bibles. There's a lot of talk about the
-
Kingdom of God. You can't read the gospels
-
without you seeing the talk about the Kingdom of God, or
-
sometimes it's called the Kingdom of heaven.
-
Whenever the forerunner of Jesus Christ come, which was John the
-
Baptist, which was his cousin born like 6 months or so before
-
Jesus was, whenever John the Baptist even came, he came
-
repent. He came preaching a message of
-
repent, repentance, and he would say repent for the Kingdom of
-
heaven or the Kingdom of God is at hand.
-
It's at hand. So matter of fact, then whenever
-
Jesus started his own public ministry, Amen, he comes and he
-
has the same message. It's a message of repentance.
-
And he's telling the people that the Kingdom of God or the
-
Kingdom of heaven is at hand. But this Kingdom that we're
-
talking about in the New Testament, it has a very natural
-
earthly side, but it also has a very spiritual side to it.
-
Amen. A Kingdom that was beyond this
-
earth, beyond where they live. So my fact, when Jesus was
-
questioned by some of the Pharisees who were, you know,
-
the, the, the very people who try to keep the letter of the
-
law as best as they could, he was questioned by the Pharisees
-
that Lord, when the Kingdom of God, when, when should it come?
-
When it should come, which they're thinking about a natural
-
Kingdom. That's where their mind is,
-
when, when the Kingdom of God should come, when, when should
-
this happen? And he responded to them these
-
words which show us that it's more than just a earthly
-
Kingdom, but a spiritual Kingdom.
-
He said the Kingdom of God is within you.
-
Hold on a minute. So we're, we're talking about
-
something that's just not earthly.
-
Then there, there, there's a spiritual side to this Kingdom
-
as well. And So what did it mean them to
-
a 1st century Jew that Jesus said in our, our text even this
-
morning that the time is fulfilled.
-
The Kingdom of God is at hand. What it did it mean to them to
-
hear that the time is fulfilled. The Kingdom of God is at hand.
-
Why? Why would he even say such
-
things as the Kingdom of God is come unto you in this this 1st
-
century among the Jews, someone say a man.
-
And so while the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of heaven is also
-
spiritual, again there is a earthly means to it, a means for
-
which Jesus wanted the Jewish people and those that had any
-
understanding of Old Testament scripture.
-
He wanted them to understand that the time for their
-
long-awaited Messiah was at hand.
-
It was occurring, right? He didn't want them to miss what
-
many of them missed, that their Messiah had come, their Messiah
-
had arrived. He wanted them to recognize
-
that. So he uses these phrases of
-
Kingdom of God or Kingdom of heaven in the Old Testament.
-
You know, just follow with me today.
-
We'll start weaving the web, all right, and putting the strings
-
together and tying the knots. But the Kingdom of God and the
-
Kingdom of heaven, those two phrases are never found in the
-
King James Version language of the Old Testament.
-
The closest thing that we get to that phrase is in the book of
-
Daniel when Daniels describing a bunch of these Pagan kingdoms
-
being destroyed by the Kingdom of the God of Heaven.
-
That's what it's stated in Daniel chapter #2 and verse 44.
-
Look at it with me now. And in the days of these kings,
-
we'll go back and look at those kings.
-
And Speaking of these Pagan kingdoms and Pagan kings, shall
-
the God of heaven set up a Kingdom?
-
All right, So that right there, if the God of heaven is setting
-
up a Kingdom, it must be a Kingdom of God, It must be a
-
Kingdom of heaven. He's going to set up, He's going
-
to set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed.
-
And the Kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it
-
shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms and
-
it shall stand forever. In Daniel chapter #2 if you want
-
to host series on Daniel, check our podcast.
-
It's there. All right, Probably 34 lessons
-
or so, or 24, I can't remember which.
-
But nonetheless, in Daniel chapter #2 you'll remember that
-
there was a dream that King Nebuchadnezzar had.
-
He was wanting an interpretation of a dream.
-
He's seen this great image in the Book of Daniel chapter #2
-
and this image had a head of gold.
-
It had breast and arms that were silver.
-
It had belly and thighs that were brass.
-
It had legs that were iron. And when you got to its feet, it
-
was a mixture of iron and clay. In Daniel chapter #2 Daniel told
-
Nebuchadnezzar the interpretation of that dream.
-
He said, oh, you, Nebuchadnezzar, are that head of
-
gold. Nebuchadnezzar was the king over
-
a Babylonian Kingdom, all right? The very Babylon that would take
-
the children of Israel into captivity for 70 years.
-
He says, you are that head of gold, all right.
-
And that's around probably around 6th century BC when all
-
of that took place. But then there's going to come
-
a, a, a more inferior Kingdom, the Babylon, but it's going to
-
overtake Babylon. And that would then be known as
-
the Medo Persian, a Kingdom in the Scripture around the 5th
-
century BC. They would be the silver.
-
Then would come another Kingdom that would bear rule over the
-
whole earth. And that would be the Greek
-
Kingdom around the 4th century. That would be during the time of
-
Alexander the Great. It's like between the
-
Testaments. Alexander the Great was such a
-
great warrior that he he absolutely took over and
-
conquered the then known world. Yet when he was very young,
-
still yet very young, he would die and he would leave his
-
Kingdom to his, his four top generals that would really only
-
two of them would become dominant.
-
And so that's the next Kingdom, the Grecian Kingdom, Amen, that
-
we speak of then that is brass. And then the next Kingdom that
-
comes in succession is the Kingdom of Rome.
-
That is the Kingdom that was alive and well when Christ was
-
born in Bethlehem's Manger. That's the Kingdom that was
-
alive and well, Amen. During his lifetime there, Amen.
-
From 1st century like BC on into the AD generations, this Kingdom
-
would be in Rule. It's, it's strong.
-
It's strong as iron. That's it's representation of
-
iron. It's strong as iron that as you
-
get to the feet, you see it's mixed with clay.
-
There's a weakening, if you will, of the empire and of the
-
Kingdom whenever you look at the statue of Daniel chapter #2 I
-
hope this ain't too heavy for everybody on a Sunday morning.
-
I hope you ate, you ate your Wheaties today, all right, or
-
something. Amen.
-
On Daniel chapter #2 you'll notice that the, the metals
-
going from gold down to iron to clay, the metals really are
-
increasing in strength from gold to to silver to brass to iron.
-
That's, that's going from a soft metal to a very more hardened
-
metal, a stronger metal. But the value of the are are
-
diminishing in a sense until you get into the 5th Kingdom because
-
iron is not as valuable as go. There's a this diminishment of
-
value until you get to the 5th Kingdom.
-
And so every Kingdom is growing in its territory in an expanse
-
because like the Medo Persians, they're overtaking Babylon and
-
absorbing their landmass into themselves.
-
So the territory is getting larger with each successive
-
Kingdom that comes again, decrease in in, in value, but an
-
increase, if you will, in its power or in its strength.
-
Another reason why it's it's decreasing in value on a very
-
literal level is because these kingdoms like Medo Persia,
-
that's a split Kingdom. You get to Alexander the Great.
-
He has four generals. He's going to give that to.
-
They're splitting up. A Kingdom is really usually a
-
one man rule. And so it's a breaking up, if
-
you will, of the government and of the powers begin to splinters
-
begin to weaken. But look at Daniel chapter 2 and
Daniel 2 chapter mention
-
verse 34. There is 1/5.
-
The Bible says, and in the interpretation he says, Thou
-
solace, thou seen everything that was going on till that a
-
stone was cut out without hands, without him.
-
This, this was not human invention.
-
This was not human offspring, so to speak.
-
This was done without hands, which smote the image up on his
-
feet that were of iron and clay and break them to pieces.
-
Then was the iron, the clay? Notice it's talking about the
-
statue. Now this stone that was cut
-
without hands hit the feet and it's it's shattered to pieces
-
along. Look at verse 2.
-
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, the goat.
-
All of this broke into pieces together and became like the
-
chap of the summer, threshing floors and the wind that carried
-
them away, that no place was found for them.
-
The stone that smote the image became now it's not just a
-
stone, but it grows into this great mountain and filled the
-
whole earth. Scholar NT Wright says this.
-
He says the passage about the stone in Daniel 2 was regularly
-
interpreted from at least as early as the 1st century.
-
And the reason why I say this spoken and I don't want to
-
bombard you. But even if today, if you were
-
in college and you were writing about something, you want what's
-
called primary sources. You want sources that are close
-
to the incident that you're you're talking about because
-
they're going to be the most reliable.
-
You you can grab somebody that's talking about it today, but they
-
weren't there when all of this thing came about.
-
And so when you have a primary source that has more credence
-
than something that is written about today.
-
And so whenever he said, as he says these things have been
-
written about that that stone and Daniel was regularly
-
interpreted as Amen and referring to the Messiah as
-
early as the 1st century, that a Kingdom would come and be set up
-
through the Messiah. Then we, we can, we can hang our
-
hat on that. Then understanding that this 5th
-
Kingdom that would come after the Kingdom of Rome would be the
-
Kingdom of the Messiah, the Kingdom of the Messiah.
-
And look now verse #44 you can look at verse 44 of Daniel one
-
more time. Daniel says, And in the days of
-
these kings, Speaking of the, the gold and the silver and the
-
brass and the iron, a man of Babylon and Medo, Persia and
-
Greece and Rome in the days of these kings, shall the God of
-
heaven set up a Kingdom? Shall the God of heaven set up a
-
Kingdom? And since God is setting up the
-
Kingdom, this is in essence the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of
-
heaven that's going to be set up.
-
And so a New Testament Jew that hears Jesus and even John the
-
Baptist and regular talk about the Kingdom of heaven or the
-
Kingdom of God is at hand, or the time of its fulfillment and
-
its placement or its start and its sea bed is now.
-
They've been expecting ever since Daniel's opened his mouth
-
and prophecy about all these kingdoms fallen.
-
There would be established a Kingdom from heaven and it would
-
take place. And so much so that they're
-
living during the day when Rome was in Rule.
-
They are looking for somebody to set up a heavenly Kingdom.
-
They're looking for somebody to set up the Kingdom of God.
-
And so whenever they consider that, Daniel says a stone's
-
going to come and it's going to annihilate all these others and
-
it's going to grow into a great mountain until it fills the
-
whole earth. Amen.
-
We see that really fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ, His
-
Kingdom, Amen. And in many ways began in
-
Bethlehem, Manger and Pentecost in Calvary, and the growth of
-
the Gospel. Why do you think that?
-
He said to his disciples before he departed, Amen.
-
Go ye into all the world and preach.
-
Why? Because that would be the
-
expanse of the heavenly Kingdom. That would be the expanse of the
-
Kingdom of God. That started as a stone but
-
becomes a great over. We're still expanding the
-
Kingdom. It didn't just happen in the
-
book of Acts while we're living right now today, we are living
-
in the Kingdom of God age. We are still expanding the
-
Kingdom. Amen for the purpose of heaven.
-
That's the reason why we're supporting the missionaries and
-
the home missionaries and this and that.
-
We are expanded. The stone is becoming a
-
mountain. Someone say man, the stone is
-
becoming a mountain and of the Messiah prophecy concerning
-
Jesus Christ, Isaiah said. And of the increase of his
-
government and peace there shall be no end.
-
This was made without hands. This isn't the ordering of a
-
man, no, this is all of the actions of God.
-
And so that's partly why Jesus Christ said in our text then the
-
time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is at hand
-
because they were living during the days of the Roman rule.
-
He was coming in to set up another Kingdom, so to speak,
-
another king, another Kingdom. That's not man made, but it's
-
God made. So we consider all of this
-
again. Remember Jesus likes to refer to
-
himself as the Son, the Son of Man, the Son of Man.
-
As a matter of fact, here are just a few samples.
-
Can't give you them all. Again, time would not allow.
-
But Jesus says things like this concerning himself.
-
He talks in the third person, you know, and he says things
-
like the Son of man came eating and drinking and they say,
-
behold, A glutton and a drunkard.
-
Jesus said that of himself he says stuff like this, but the
-
Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.
-
He's talking about himself. He's calling himself the Son of
-
Man, he says, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is
-
betrayed. Again, he's talking about
-
himself. He knew the Jews would pick up
-
on him talking about himself as the Son of man.
-
He doesn't explain it to us in the New Testament, but he knew
-
they would pick up on it because the Son of Man is more than just
-
being a human being. That term could be used for
-
humans. Son of men.
-
Amen. But to a 1st century, it was
-
more than just being human, it was so much more.
-
In Daniel chapter #7 it records that Daniel, Daniel has a dream.
-
Daniel has a dream about a series of four Pagan empires in
-
Daniel 7. And listen, folks, you read like
-
Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Daniel 8. You know, it seems weird, but
-
again, these are dreams that have representations in
-
Scripture. And Daniel, he has a dream about
-
four Pagan empires. They're represented by a lion
-
that has eagle's wings, a bear raising up on one side, a
-
leopard that has four wings and four heads, right?
-
And then one that's called a very terrible, dreadful beast
-
that you read of in Daniel chapter #7 Daniel 7 and verse 17
-
says these great beasts, which are four are 4 kings, are 4
-
kings which arise out of the earth.
-
Now if you want to hear a few different schools of thought
-
again, podcast Daniel I refer you back to, But there are a few
-
schools of thought about these 4 kingdoms or 4 kings.
-
One of them mirrors the very order of the kingdoms that
-
Daniel told to Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel chapter #2 that we
-
already discussed of gold and silver and brass and iron.
-
All right. Nonetheless, again it doesn't
-
stop with the 4th king or the 4th Kingdom, because the next
-
king even in Daniel's dream will be the king which was as
-
mentioned in the book of Daniel was the Son of Man.
-
Look at it now, Daniel chapter #7 And verse 9.
-
He says, I beheld till the Thrones were cast down, the
-
Ancient of Days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and
-
the hair of his head like the pure wool.
-
His throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning
-
fire. Verse 13.
-
I saw in the night visions and behold, one like the Son of Man
-
came with the clouds of heaven and came to the Ancient of Days,
-
and they brought him near before him, and there was given him
-
dominion and glory and a Kingdom.
-
That's verse 14, That all people, nations and languages
-
shall serve him. His dominion is an everlasting
-
dominion which shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which
-
shall not be destroyed. All of this means then the ruler
-
or the king of the 5th Kingdom would be the Son of Man.
-
Please note there's not another Kingdom after his.
-
There's not enough there another power to come into place after
-
him. He is the king and the Kingdom
-
to end all kingdoms, all right. And so that is the the Messiah,
-
the anointed one for that time and again, many 1st century
-
writings equate the Son of Man with the Messiah with the
-
Messiah. And so Jesus often talk then
-
about the Kingdom of God being at hand, and he would also then
-
refer to himself as the Son of Man.
-
He wanted the Jews to understand that the time of his Kingdom, he
-
was there. I'm here, I've arrived.
-
This thing is now going to start turning around because I am that
-
king. I am your Messiah.
-
I am the Son of man. As a matter of fact, his Kingdom
-
would begin to have its seed bed during the Roman rule.
-
Again, you, you, you, you have Caesar, you have all these
-
different people that are Roman rulers during the time of Jesus,
-
even in his trial for his crucifix that are Roman rulers.
-
The Jews are constantly talking to Rome, right?
-
Because they weren't, they weren't going to be able to
-
crucify Jesus themselves. That's that.
-
It was not permissible in their law.
-
They had to have Roman rule in order to be able to, even to
-
crucify the Lord. So all of this is happening
-
while Christ is walking in his public ministry up on the earth.
-
The Bible says he walked his public ministry in, in, in Luke
-
chapter #3 during the reign of Tiberius the Caesar.
-
That's a Roman entity. That's a Roman government.
-
And so Jesus proclaims and and prophecies that the Kingdom that
-
is in Daniel, that 5th Kingdom to end all kingdoms that's cut
-
without a hand. He claims to be not only that
-
that Kingdom is starting now, but he's the king of that
-
Kingdom. He is that Son of God, that Son
-
of man, if you will, that's prophesied in the Old Testament
-
Daniel, that Kingdom that is made without hands.
-
And more So, what he wants them to know more than anything else
-
is more than a earthly Kingdom. This thing is a heavenly
-
Kingdom, more than just, you know, more than just dirt and
-
blocking and regimens and all of that, he says.
-
This is something that's spiritual because it can be a
-
Kingdom that's within you. Can I tell you today that if
-
you've been born again of the water and the Spirit, you
-
repented of your sins and you went down in Jesus that name,
-
you have entered a Kingdom that he told Nicodemus, Except a man
-
be born again of the water and the Spirit, he cannot see.
-
He cannot enter into the Kingdom of someone.
-
Say Amen, hail glory. So he he shares some time Jesus
-
sometimes shares about his death and his ministry.
-
He talks to his disciples about it.
-
He talks about being turned over into the authorities.
-
He talks about being put into the hands of men.
-
And he says it like this though know how he says it?
-
He says, and you can read this in Mark, Matthew, Luke, those
-
those gospels of the synoptic Gospels.
-
He often phrases it like this. Again, Speaking of himself like
-
third person, he says the Son of man must suffer many things.
-
The Son of man and the certainty of his suffering is in the word
-
must, he must suffer many things.
-
But the whole idea of him suffering is really based,
-
again, in the book of Daniel, because the Masonic son of man
-
that Daniel spoke of had to suffer.
-
Now, there's a lot I could say about these verses I'm about
-
ready to read to you, but we're not going to say everything that
-
can be said. OK, Daniel series, I reference
-
you again. But in Daniel chapter #9 and
-
verse 25, again, Daniel doesn't just talk about that Kingdom to
-
come. It talks about the King, the Son
-
of Man, and we already had precedence even from writings
-
even as early as the 1st century that that stone.
-
What is being spoken of is the Messiah.
-
The Bible says in Daniel 9 verse 25.
-
Know therefore, and understand that from the going forth of the
-
commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem, and to the
-
Messiah, or if I say the Messiah says it clearly, Messiah.
-
The Prince shall be 7 weeks and three score and two weeks, and
-
the street shall be built again, and the wall even in trouble
-
troublous times. Verse 26.
-
And after three score and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off,
-
but not for himself and the people.
-
The Prince shall come and destroy the city, the sanctuary,
-
and the end thereof shall be with a flood.
-
And to the end of the war, desolations are determined.
-
Again, we don't have all time to cover every detail that's in
-
this, because this new thing here is a lot.
-
It's like a key. It will open some doors.
-
Amen. But there's a lot in here.
-
But suffice to say it that Jesus treats the Son of Man of Daniel
-
7 and the Messiah of Daniel chapter #9 as one and the same
-
person. One and the same person.
-
One is enthronement is therefore the beginning of his Kingdom.
-
And there is, as we read here in Daniel 9A, earthly suffering,
-
even a death. That's what is being conveyed to
-
us when it says Messiah will be cut off.
-
It's speaking about his death. All right.
-
And since kings even the Old Testament Scripture, they were
-
anointed with oil. Sister Cox we see that happened
-
to David we see that happened to saw horns of oil put over their
-
heads. Since they are anointed with
-
oil, many times kings were referred to as the anointed.
-
As a result of that, whenever we talk about New Credit Testament
-
Scripture, Jesus Christ Christ isn't his last name.
-
Christ is a label in the Greek denoting the anointed Messiah in
-
the Old Testament. In the Hebrew, the anointed,
-
we're talking about the one that's being the Son of man.
-
We're talking about our king coming.
-
Jesus says the Son of Man or Messiah must suffer.
-
This is the mindset where they were kind of thrown off because
-
they were just looking for someone with our earthly
-
Kingdom. They didn't realize the
-
spiritual aspect of the Kingdom and they seen their king coming
-
in strong and they didn't realize his strength was through
-
his Amen. And according to Daniel, he says
-
he would be cut off, He would be put to death.
-
There would come a time that he would die.
-
And so there were Jews that were waiting for the Kingdom of God,
-
the Messiah, the Son of man, and Jesus fulfilled both of them.
-
He, he was the Son of man, He was the Messiah, He was the king
-
over that 5th Kingdom. As a matter of fact, and we
-
don't have time to do it, but if you read those verses again and
-
you go through the calculations about when the decree was given
-
and the weeks and the times and the years that that interprets
-
Amen. It says that He'll be cut off at
-
a certain time. Jesus meant that qualification
-
in the calendar when he was crucified, He he met the Old
-
Testament prophecy of when that Messiah would be cut off,
-
pointing to the fact that he was that Messiah that was coming and
-
dying in that 1st century time frame.
-
So much so I'll hasten to a close because I know we're
-
already where we're at here on our own timetable here this
-
morning. Amen.
-
But remember what the, what the Angel spoke to Mary in Luke
-
chapter #1 and verse 32, it says the angels told Mary he Speaking
-
of Jesus shall be great and shall be called the Son of the
-
Highest and the Lord God shall given to him the throne of his
-
Father David. He said he's going to be the son
-
of the highest and he's going to have a throne.
-
That was what that's what the Angel even told Mary.
-
And so as New Testament, as church believers today, we can
-
look at the scripture and understand Messiah has come,
-
right? The Messiah of the Old
-
Testament. We're, we are not in a pattern
-
of waiting. There are some today because
-
they missed it when he first came, believe they're waiting
-
for him to come. He already came the first time.
-
He's just going to come back the second time.
-
He's already come the first time.
-
He's just going to come back the second time.
-
We may not believe it, but his Kingdom is already the
-
construction, the, the, all the ordering of his Kingdom again,
-
the X, the expense of his Kingdom is happening even as we
-
are living up on this earth. There's going to come a day
-
folks, and it will come when it will be realized by every eye.
-
Once the church is taken out of here and and there's tribulation
-
and all those things and there'll be 1000 year Millennium
-
reign of the Lord people. I want to realize in that day
-
there was a Kingdom that was cut without hands that's grew into a
-
mountain that now is an everlasting Kingdom.
-
And of his government and of his increase, there is no end folks.
-
It's just building up. Can I tell you that?
-
It's just building up? Every day it's increasing.
-
Every day it's getting greater. I know it looks like on the
-
earthly surface, man weren't drowning here.
-
No, there is a Kingdom, an established.
-
Oh, yes, stay with me. I'll hurry.
-
Too close here. I'll hurry.
-
I'll hurry. I see someone.
-
Someone had that lunch look on in their eyes.
-
Amen. Because this is God's plan,
-
right? Understanding Jesus as the
-
Messiah, right, is important because he's central to the
-
mission and the fulfilling of God's plan.
-
Even a Daniel know what it says. That the Messiah would be cut
-
off, but not for himself. Jesus didn't die for himself,
-
Messiah said. He's cut off, but not for
-
himself. Jesus didn't die for himself, He
-
died for you. He's cut off, but not for
-
himself. It's for you.
-
So he's not as many even presumed him that day as just
-
another prophet or another teacher.
-
No, he was the promised king. He's the divine Son of man
-
spoken of by the prophet Daniel. He's the suffering servant of
-
Isaiah. A man death has been prophesied
-
and he's going to be the cornerstone of an everlasting
-
Kingdom. So when Jesus declared in our
-
text in Mark, the time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God
-
is at hand, really calling the people to recognize that God's
-
redemption plan was unfolding before their eyes, not some
-
earthly ruler trying to find some type of political power
-
establishment as many are today. His Kingdom, yes, has an earthly
-
side, but more importantly as a heavenly side for the purpose of
-
transforming hearts and bodies for that matter.
-
Because when my change comes to be able to endure forever in
-
this everlasting Kingdom. So both his death and his
-
resurrection prove that his Kingdom, it's not of this world.
-
And Alexander the Great died. He's still dead, you hear me?
-
When, when, when Nebuchadnezzar pushed up tulips, he's still
-
pushing them up. But when our king supposedly was
-
cut off and some of them are saying, but this is, but this is
-
the third day, huh? Those two, they're walking to
-
Emmaus, they said, but it was the third day.
-
And Jesus came and walked beside him and said, tell me about this
-
crucifix and resurrection stuff. And before the night was over,
-
it's like, oh, that's Jesus because they knew him whenever
-
he broke, broke bread and he said, did not our hearts burn
-
within us? Huh?
-
Their king wasn't dead. Whoa, that king wasn't dead,
-
honey. Every other Kingdom of the world
-
and other every other religion of the world, Amen, that
-
subscribes to a different Kingdom, the king of this Amen,
-
an Apostolic Amen, Biblical, let me just say biblical truth.
-
Hira Krishna dead, Reverend Moon dead.
-
Joseph Smith dead, go visit their grave.
-
But you go over into the Holy Land and you visit where they
-
say my King laid. There's no body there, there's
-
no poem there. There's no testimony of his
-
residence there because he's alive.
-
It's a everlasting Kingdom that shall know no end.
-
Hear me today, anything that is being built can be built right
-
now on this day, but there's nothing that is going to be
-
built that will not be destroyed by the Kingdom of God.
-
It all comes under the power and the authority of the Kingdom.
-
So fear not what you see sometimes taking place around
-
you as though man, this is going to swallow us, ain't going to
-
swallow you up because there's a rock that's been cut a stone
-
without him. I feel him in this place.
-
So not only was Christ Jesus from last week divine, but he's
-
my Messiah. And that fulfills exactly what
-
Daniel was talking about, a king, a man that would come that
-
with yes, he would have a divine side to him, but he would also
-
be the Messiah for the people. That's your Christ Jesus.
-
Daniel said that that last piece, it was dreadful and it
-
was horrible. But there's a 5th Kingdom
-
coming, honey. We got all kinds of stuff going
-
on around here. I don't know if it's right or
-
wrong. I don't know.
-
And we got terrorists going up left and right, right, United
-
Nations, right. In terrorists, we race
-
terrorists. We want Canada to be 51st state.
-
They're racing terrorists, we're racing terrorists.
-
We got all this stuff, right? Bunch of economic unsettledness.
-
Maybe it'll all pan out. I don't know.
-
Maybe it'll set up a time that we can call for a greater
-
economy of oneness. I don't know.
-
But this one thing I do know. I know in whom I have believed.
-
I know in whom I have believed. I know in whom I.
-
I know him, I know him. I know him.
-
I know. Raise your hands right now.
-
Today, let acknowledge our God, acknowledge our Savior,
-
acknowledge our Messiah, acknowledge the King of glory.
