  1. Hey man, look at your neighbor and tell them they look good.

  2. Look good. Only one additional thing that I

  3. want to tag in on with everything that Sister McGee

  4. mentioned because this is an important day.

  5. If you plan on going to the Indiana District camp meeting

  6. that the registration will be April the 28th, that is a

  7. Monday. And so if you have plans of

  8. going, listen, you can't be him hauling around, you can't be

  9. thinking about whether you're going to be going.

  10. You have to know by that date because registration last year

  11. within was it minutes within 8 minutes was full, all right.

  12. And so it's it's a it's a fast going deal.

  13. Yes, we have for years been even looking into other places

  14. because it does fill up and I think even the facilities there

  15. they've tried to look even for areas that could they could

  16. expand and such. So it's not something to be

  17. scratching your head on. You got to be there when it

  18. opens and be very diligent, be very diligent.

  19. Amen. So otherwise, you might find

  20. yourself in a hotel or, you know, a tent, a TP, you know,

  21. something like that. But nonetheless, all right, if

  22. you'll stand with me this morning, we're going to turn to

  23. 1st Corinthians chapter #1. First Corinthians chapter #1 And

  24. I'm going to read verses 22 through 24, and a couple weeks

  25. ago I just kind of got on this Revelation business, and I'm

  26. just still in it, OK? And so this is kind of really

  27. tying in still yet, in my estimation, with the past couple

  28. of Sunday mornings. So First Corinthians chapter #1

  29. and verses 22 and 24, Sister McGee mentioned said this next

  30. Sunday that one service, what I'm trying to do is I learned

  31. that Doctor Graham was going to come and be in service with us

  32. too. So I'm trying to squeeze two

  33. people on a Sunday morning. Doctor Graham's a licensed

  34. therapist and such. And so he's a great person.

  35. He's a little younger than me and so he's got his doctorate in

  36. that. So he's, he's a great person and

  37. he has quite a story himself. But anyway, we'll see what

  38. happens. I'm trying to twist his arm and

  39. such. So we'll see if I'm I'm, you

  40. know, successful chapter one, verse 22, the first Corinthians,

  41. the Bible says for the Jews require a sign and the Greek

  42. seek after wisdom. But we preach Christ crucified

  43. to the Jews, a stumbling block into the Greeks foolishness.

  44. But to them, which are called both Jews and Greeks, Christ,

  45. the power of God and the wisdom of God, they said we preach

  46. Christ, which would have been the Old Testament Testament word

  47. for the Old Testament Messiah. We've been talking about, you

  48. know, the revelation of Jesus the Messiah and such that they

  49. would crucify, they preach their Messiah crucified.

  50. All right. And so I'm going to talk to us

  51. today then this, the revelation of Christ crucified.

  52. The revelation of Christ crucified.

  53. Let's pray together. Lord, we're thankful again

  54. today, Lord, that we can come together, we can worship.

  55. We're thankful, Lord, for your spirit.

  56. We're thankful, Lord, for what you've already done individually

  57. for some God setting in the service today.

  58. I pray, O Lord, you would anoint our hearts and our minds, God,

  59. that we would, Lord lend them to you Jesus, and that your perfect

  60. will would be done through and by your word.

  61. It's a living word. And I pray God, let Jesus be

  62. carried about in our lives. In the name of Jesus I pray

  63. Amen, Amen. The church say Amen, Amen.

  64. You may be seated this morning the revelation of Christ

  65. crucified and again so I deeply to believe that this ties in

  66. into the past couple of Sunday of mornings of the revelation of

  67. God in in Christ Jesus and the revelation of Jesus the Messiah.

  68. But now the the Jews and the Greeks for that matter, the

  69. people of the 1st century with all these things that they are

  70. learning. If they if they did indeed see

  71. Christ as their Messiah, which there were plenty indicators to

  72. indicate that and to force cast that for them.

  73. Now they're having to rectify or reconcile this concept that

  74. Christ, their Messiah, the Anointed 1 was crucified or even

  75. prior to would be crucified as a matter of fact.

  76. And we looked at this in some of the previous weeks.

  77. So this is where it kind of tongues and grooves a little

  78. bit. But many occasions in the Old

  79. Testament, God's calling card to his people with signs and

  80. miracles and wonders. He even told them, as we saw in

  81. Isaiah in previous weeks, he had told them that you'll know.

  82. You'll know that your God had come by the lame week, the

  83. leaping and the the those that were mute being able to speak

  84. and the the blind being able to see and the deaf ears being

  85. unstopped. All of those signs that we

  86. looked at in previous weeks were evidences that the life and the

  87. ministry of Christ Jesus, those were in his life and ministry

  88. that was indicating that that either God was with him or he

  89. was God. He was God.

  90. And so even Jesus attested to the fact that their belief that

  91. God was in him could be substantiated by the very works

  92. such like some of those wonders and signs and miracles that he

  93. did. Look, if you will, and I got a

  94. lot, I have many verses and passages here today, but in John

  95. chapter #14 and verse 10, Jesus is speaking and says he says

  96. believe it's not, but I am. I am in the Father.

  97. This is his reply to Philip. As a matter of fact, Philip has

  98. said Jesus show us the Father and it suffices this and this is

  99. his response back. He said believe it's thou not

  100. that I am in the Father and the Father in me the words that I

  101. speak into you. I speak not of myself, but the

  102. father that dwelleth in me. He doeth the works.

  103. Verse 11 Believe me that I am in the father and the father in me

  104. or else believe me for the very work's sake.

  105. Again, he's underscored with the Fred these miracles and he signs

  106. and these wonders, these things that were happened during his

  107. earthly ministry through and by his hand and he was basically

  108. letting them know these these are the means by which God.

  109. If you'll remember what Peter preached on that day of

  110. Pentecost. He said that he had approved or

  111. authenticated a man Jesus Christ by these signs and these works

  112. and these wonders and Jesus is just under score that if you

  113. believe me for no other reason than just believe that the

  114. Father is in me and I am him just for the very works sake

  115. that's taking place right now in my ministry.

  116. And so they they should have, they should have seen God in

  117. Christ through what Jesus was doing in his earthly ministry.

  118. I mean, this is what the Jews were looking for.

  119. That's what our text even says. The Jews require a sign, the

  120. Jews require a sign. And so this is what they are

  121. looking for. And many of them in the New

  122. Testament Scripture did, many of them grasped the hold of that

  123. idea that this was indeed him. But there were also Lord others

  124. that that were unsure because they they seen in the Scripture

  125. that this Christ is leading to a Golgotha's hill, a Calvary.

  126. And so whenever they begin to think that this could be, this

  127. is our Messiah, but then they see the same man then going to a

  128. tree and hanging on something that was just considered a, a

  129. curse and it was dishonorable and all these type of things,

  130. they're worn within themselves because the crucifix seemed to

  131. fail them in the respect that how can this be our Messiah?

  132. How can this be a person of authoritative rule and can set

  133. off things right whenever he's going to be hanging on a tree.

  134. So they were bewildered by all of this.

  135. And as a result of that, the Bible says that many of them

  136. mocked him, right? Because mark it down folks, many

  137. people mock stuff they don't understand, mock stuff they do

  138. not understand. And so because they did not

  139. understand, as we seen last week in the book of Daniel, they

  140. didn't understand this 5th king and this 5th Kingdom that Daniel

  141. spoke about that would come and destroy all the previous

  142. kingdoms and be that stone that's that's taken without

  143. hands and hit the bottom of that image, destroy every other

  144. Kingdom and increase into this grand mountain.

  145. And they could not understand Christ being that stone and then

  146. also happen to be the one that's hanging on a Roman cross.

  147. It didn't make sense to them. How in the world could their

  148. quote UN quote stone or king be strong between heaven and earth?

  149. This can't be our expected king. This can't be our expected

  150. Savior, our expected Savior, because despite all the other

  151. indicators we have of what happened through his hand and

  152. through his life and his ministry, we can't get past the

  153. fact that we would have a crucified Savior.

  154. Jesus said in John 12. These words he said, and I, if I

  155. be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

  156. This he said, John tells us signifying what death he should

  157. die. Verse 34 The people answered

  158. him, We have heard out of the law that Christ or Messiah

  159. abideth forever. How sayest thou?

  160. The Son of Man must be lifted up.

  161. Who is this Son of man? So John informs us what Jesus is

  162. talking about right here. His speech about being lifted up

  163. was terminology for that day that was common, that indicated

  164. a death by crucifix that was common for them that day.

  165. And so John just lets us know when Jesus is saying this, he's

  166. really signifying by what death that he should die.

  167. But the people are having a hard time reasoning out Jesus's words

  168. if he indeed was the Messiah. They said we thought for the way

  169. that we understood the law that Christ or the Messiah, he would

  170. live or he would be a forever Messiah, a forever Christ.

  171. As a matter of fact, there's things in the Old Testament, in

  172. the book of Psalms that the Bible speaks of him being a

  173. priest forever, a priest forever.

  174. Even in Daniel two we saw last week, it described His Kingdom

  175. and kingship, that it would be a Kingdom that would never be

  176. destroyed. It spoke of his dominion as an

  177. everlasting dominion that shall not pass away.

  178. And so they look at all of this and please know as they're

  179. talking about Christ in verse 34 of John on 12, they're equating

  180. him now with the Son of man. How sayest thou the son of man

  181. must be lifted up. They're equating Christ Jesus

  182. with this son of man. They said if these things be and

  183. the son of man be lifted up crucified, then who in the world

  184. really is he? I know we along the way started

  185. identify you as that, but but who is he really if this is

  186. going to happen? Remember, Remember from last

  187. week, Jesus all the times referring to himself as the Son

  188. of Man. He's speaking and the third

  189. person, he says the Son of Man does this, the Son of Man does

  190. that, Amen. He speaks to himself though,

  191. about himself as being the Son of man.

  192. But they're questioning if Messiah is going to last

  193. forever, have a forever Kingdom, never be destroyed, how can he

  194. be crucified? How can, as Daniel said, he be

  195. cut off from the earth and not for himself?

  196. How he can be forever and be terminated at the same time?

  197. Someone say, man, can I remind you this morning, just real

  198. quickly that not only is Jesus the Messiah, but he is also the

  199. divine. He's God.

  200. And so when Jesus died out Calvary, none of God died.

  201. What came from the womb was laid in the tomb, but God was still

  202. ruling supreme. Hey man, that which moved up on

  203. the face of the waters in the beginning, the book of Genesis,

  204. the Spirit of God that moved up on the face of the waters at the

  205. very beginning had no beginning and it has no ending.

  206. Jesus Christ in his flesh as a man had a Bethlehem's Manger, a

  207. start, and he had a Calvary, a finish in his earthly life.

  208. But God knows no beginning of days, no ending of days.

  209. He is a spirit. He's as we looked at the I am

  210. the self resistant one always present hangman of all times and

  211. tenses. The Bible says in Matthew 27 and

  212. verse 39 and they that passed by this is Jesus hanging on the

  213. cross here it's describing the scene and they that pass by

  214. reviled him wagging their heads verse 40 and saying thou that

  215. destroy us the temple and build us it in three days.

  216. Save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come

  217. down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priest

  218. mocking him with the scribes and elders said he saved others

  219. himself. He cannot save if he be the King

  220. of Israel. Let him now come down from the

  221. cross and we will believe him. So we have people passing by the

  222. Lord as he's hanging there up on the cross.

  223. Many of them and probably most of them are probably Jewish.

  224. Calvary golf is just outside of Jerusalem.

  225. As a matter of fact, the fact that they bring up the whole

  226. temple, three days, you'll raise it up thing even indicates more

  227. that they're probably Jewish people.

  228. For that matter, we know with the surety that in verse 41, the

  229. chief priests, the scribes, and the elders, all these are Jewish

  230. people, and yet here they are in essence, while he's hanging on

  231. the tree, just as our text said, the Jews are requiring a sign.

  232. If you are the Son of God, if you are this great one that you

  233. say you are, come down from the cross.

  234. Let that be our sign. Come down from the cross.

  235. Get off of there. You saved a bunch of other

  236. people. You prove that through your

  237. earthly ministry. But if you are who you say you

  238. are, then give us this sign. Come down off the cross.

  239. Save yourself. Let that be your proof of your

  240. identity. 10 They cannot rationalize everything that's

  241. taking place right now with the supposed Messiah hanging on a

  242. tree. They believed him to be the

  243. Messiah, but now he's hanging on Calvary.

  244. And so that is casting a very, very big shadow over everything

  245. that they have believed in, causing doubt to enter their

  246. hearts and minds. Even arguably look at the chief

  247. priests. You look at it in Scripture,

  248. we'll look at it in John 19. The chief priests were even

  249. somewhat embarrassed to have the title that was upon the cross,

  250. Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews.

  251. They're they're they're embarrassed over this because

  252. they pictured something different concerning their king.

  253. They pictured something different concerning someone

  254. that would have authority to rule and bring all things into

  255. being that would sing John 19 verse 21 then said the chief

    John 19:21

  256. priests of the Jews to Pilate. They said, right, not the king

  257. of the Jews, but that he said I am the king of the Jews.

  258. Pilate answered what's been written been written.

  259. He he already had it attached to the tree it was written in in

  260. Greek and Hebrew and Latin for all to see.

  261. They said don't, don't say that he was say that he said that he

  262. was because they're a little embarrassed.

  263. How can we have a Messiah affixed to a tree?

  264. How can our King be affixed to a tree?

  265. Again, the Jews are requiring a sign and they had been given 1

  266. and it would soon be carried out in the life of the Lord Jesus

  267. Christ in his death. If you remember, if you'll

  268. listen to Jesus words, Amen to the scribes and the Pharisees.

  269. He said this in Matthew 1238 and we'll read verse 39.

  270. But the Pharisees and scribes come questioning Jesus and they

  271. even say, master, we would see a sign from thee.

  272. And he says in verse 39, But he answered and send to them an

  273. evil and an adulterous generation seeketh after a sign,

  274. he said, but there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of

  275. the prophet Jonas or Jonah. For as Jonas was 3 days and

  276. three nights in the well's belly, so shall the son of man,

  277. a man that be 3 days and three nights in the heart of the

  278. earth. We might be able to talk about

  279. that maybe more in some other week or week to come.

  280. But The thing is this, that if this this sign of three days and

  281. three nights in the earth was the sign, then the crucifix of

  282. Jesus was just preparation for the unveiling of the true sign

  283. for the Jews about who he was. So they want something powerful.

  284. They want a sign. And yet Paul says in our text

  285. that the preaching of Christ crucified was powerful.

  286. He says it seems like foolishness to them that believe

  287. not it seems like foolishness to those that have no sort of

  288. relationship with the Lord, He said but to the called, whether

  289. they're a Jew person that's been called or a Greek individual

  290. that's been called, He says it is powerful.

  291. He spoke even in Romans that the gospel of Christ which includes

  292. his crucifix, that that's the power of God unto salvation to

  293. the Jew 1st and also to the Greek.

  294. And so in the modern 1st century world and all the population of

  295. that world, they knew Galatians that said cursed is everyone

  296. that hangeth on a tree and Christ to the Jew.

  297. Paul even said it's a stumbling Christ crucified is a stumbling

  298. block to the Jew. It's foolishness to the Greeks.

  299. As a matter of fact, the 2 words that's used for stumbling block

  300. and foolishness is where we get our English words today.

  301. Scandal and moron. He's saying it's scandalous.

  302. The fact that Christ being crucified, that's scandalous to

  303. the Jews. It's moronic, if you will.

  304. Amen to the Greek. It just does not make sense.

  305. As a matter of fact, when we see the Christ went to the cross, we

  306. talked about this a little bit some previous weeks.

  307. It wasn't like some accusation necessarily that they pinned on

  308. him or even what they were trying to bear false witness

  309. against him that put him on the tree.

  310. Ultimately in Scripture, Christ was crucified for his identity.

  311. He was crucified. They charged him with blasphemy,

  312. claiming something that he was not when it was really who he

  313. really was. He meant it wasn't that he

  314. claimed to be the Messiah or that he claimed to be divine.

  315. He was the Messiah and he was divine.

  316. The Bible says in Mark chapter 14 and verse 61, but he held his

    Mark 14 chapter mention

  317. peace. This is speaking about Jesus.

  318. He's on trial. He held his peace and answered

  319. nothing. They're they're bringing false

  320. accusations against him about this and that what he has said

  321. he says nothing but again the high priest asked him and said

  322. just quite point blank, art thou the Christ art thou the Christ

  323. are are you the Messiah, the son of the blessed and verse 62

  324. tells us Jesus response, I am but Jesus.

  325. He has to just go on, don't he? He doesn't just admit, yeah, I

  326. am the Christ. But he goes on and says, and ye

  327. shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power and

  328. coming in the clouds of heavens. Are you the Christ?

  329. He's like I am. But also let me tell you

  330. something else. I'm the Son of man sitting on

  331. the right hand that that might not mean much to you, but most

  332. scholars of that day for sure tell us this, that being seated

  333. spoken of as being seated on the right hand of God implies being

  334. equal with God. So Jesus wasn't just saying,

  335. yes, I'm the Messiah. He was saying I'm God, I'm God.

  336. And then he has to throw in there this this symbolism about

  337. coming with the clouds. Well, folks, whenever you read

  338. all throughout the Old Testament, it seems as though

  339. most of the time only God is the one that's described about

  340. clouds about him or coming with the clouds.

  341. The Bible tells us that whenever God came down on the mount to

  342. speak minister, even with the nation of Israel, he was

  343. encircled by clouds. In the book of Job, Elias made

  344. mention and said thick clouds are a covering unto God.

  345. The psalmist said that clouds and darkness are round about

  346. him. It even said that he maketh the

  347. clouds his Chariots. He maketh the clouds his

  348. Chariots. Nahum said it like this.

  349. The clouds are the dust of his feet.

  350. All of the symbolism always has the Lord coming with the clouds,

  351. clouds around him, about him, the dust of his feet, his

  352. Chariots. Lucifer even understood this

  353. when we read of his fall in the book of Isaiah.

  354. He said one of the things that Lucifer Lucifer said was this I

  355. will send above the heights of the clouds, Amen.

  356. He he was endeavoring to rise above God.

  357. So whenever the 1st century Jew is hearing Jesus Christ say

  358. Amen, that he's the Son of man that's sitting on the right

  359. hand, what's indicating he's God, but also saying that he's

  360. coming with the clouds. All of their Old Testament

  361. scriptures come into their mind. The only person we ever remember

  362. coming with the clouds is God. And clouds were under under his

  363. feet, clouds his Chariots. But this man is talking about

  364. coming with the clouds. He is making a claim to be God

  365. all by himself. He has become Emmanuel, God with

  366. us. They saw this as such so much so

  367. that in Mark 14 and verse 63 then the high priest rent his

  368. clothes and say of what need we any further witness?

  369. This is the Bible. You have heard the blasphemy see

  370. this is what he says. You've heard the blasphemy.

  371. He's claiming to be God. What think he and they all

  372. condemned him to be guilty of death.

  373. Now, some of those that are here are familiar with the Lord

  374. having said previously destroy this temple in three days, I'll

  375. raise it up. There were some even bare false

  376. witnessing against the Lord using those words, kind of

  377. twisting them some in the scripture about really what he

  378. said, misconstruing them. And it was brought up.

  379. Then even again, not just at his trial, but whenever he was

  380. hanging on the cross. Those that went by and we're

  381. reviling, we're talking about you said three days destroy, and

  382. then you'll raise this up. But let's look at the

  383. accountant, John. John chapter #2 and verse 18

  384. then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign showest

  385. thou? Here we go again looking for

  386. that sign. What sign showest thou unto us?

  387. Seeing that thou doest these things, let me explain what has

  388. just happened. Jesus went to the temple, He's

  389. cleansed it because of the money changers in the temple.

  390. Remember the flipping of the tables and the driving out all

  391. of the sacrifices that were there.

  392. So he's just done all this and they're saying, what sign shows

  393. down to us seeing that you've just done these things?

  394. Jesus answered and said unto them, there he goes to destroy

  395. this temple and then three days I will raise it up.

  396. Then said the Jews 40 and six years was this temple in

  397. building, Wilt thou rear it up in three days?

  398. And John gives us important information, but he spake

  399. Speaking of Jesus, Jesus spake of the temple of his body.

  400. He's saying whatever he was saying destroyed the temple.

  401. He wasn't talking to them about their literal temple, but he was

  402. identifying as though he was the temple.

  403. He was the temple. I want to slow down just here

  404. for a moment, because all of this that takes place concerning

  405. the crucifix of our Lord, it happens in tandem with the feast

  406. of Passover when there's all these lambs that are going to be

  407. slain and blood's going to be shed, just as was prescribed in

  408. the book of Exodus for the Passover feast.

  409. There's going to be all kinds of people visiting the temple,

  410. right? And so Jesus, he's turning over

  411. these money changer tables during this time that's leading

  412. up to and close to Passover. People are trying to take

  413. advantage of others that are trying to purchase lambs, and

  414. the prices are higher than what they should be.

  415. And all these things are taking place.

  416. And so he drove them all out. And so the Jews are wondering

  417. what, what credentials do you have?

  418. What authority do you have to do what you just did?

  419. What sign can you show us? And the only thing Jesus can say

  420. is destroy the temple. And in three days I'll raise it

  421. up, which is very similar to the sign he told them about.

  422. There's no sign going to be giving you except the sign of

  423. Jonas about 3 days and three nights.

  424. He was in the heart of the earth.

  425. But the the apostle John gives us more insight because Jesus

  426. was telling them again about himself being the temple.

  427. He was identifying as the temple.

  428. And that's bold because for someone of that day, the temple

  429. was the dwelling place of God. The temple was the dwelling

  430. place of God. Even the Old Testament, the

  431. Tabernacle in the wilderness that the Lord wanted Moses to

  432. construct, he said, make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among

  433. you. That's what he told him in

  434. Exodus. So the temple was the dwelling

  435. place of God. And yet here John says the Lord

  436. is saying, I'm the temple if I can, I'm the dwelling place of

  437. God. So let's look at it here.

  438. The only thing that can be greater than the temple, God's

  439. dwelling place, is God to be manifest in the flesh.

  440. Because there's other places in Scripture like Matthew 12 that

  441. Jesus goes around and he's even speaking.

  442. He says that in this place is 1 greater than the temple.

  443. Again, speaking about himself, trying to identify as the

  444. temple. Think back with me just for a

  445. moment, to Mount Calvary. Think back to me at that place

  446. in the fulfillment of Scripture. The Bible tells us not one bone

  447. of Jesus's body was broken. We read of that in Psalms.

  448. John recalls it in John 19 as well.

  449. Not one, not one bone of Jesus's body was broken.

  450. He along with a thief on each side hanging on the tree.

  451. Amen. The Sabbath was coming.

  452. The body is going to have to be brought down.

  453. They send out some soldiers there to check to see who's

  454. still alive and who's dead, because if they're still living,

  455. they're going to break their legs for the purpose that they

  456. could hasten their death. They needed to get them in a

  457. tomb. But when they go out there to

  458. check, Amen, they break the legs, at least from what we can

  459. assume of the two thieves. But whenever they come to the

  460. Lord, he is already dead. He has already expired.

  461. But to ensure that he was indeed dead, the Bible tells us that a

  462. Roman soldier pierced his side with a spear.

  463. This is what the Bible says in John 1933.

  464. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was dead already,

  465. they break not his legs, but one of the soldiers with a spear

  466. pierced his side, and forth with came they're out blood and

  467. water. And he that solid John Speaking

  468. of himself, their record that his record is true.

  469. And he knoweth, he say knoweth that he sayeth true that he

  470. might believe. This seems interesting.

  471. Why is John kind of go over the top here about, hey, I just want

  472. you to know about this blood and water coming out the side.

  473. I'm telling you it was true. I'm giving record that it was

  474. true. I want you to know it was true.

  475. Why is John trying to validate what's happening this truth so

  476. much? I'm going to tell you this

  477. morning that through that act of blood and water really coming

  478. from Jesus's side really did reveal that Jesus was as he had

  479. already spoken the truth temple, the dwelling place of God that

  480. he really was God in Christ Jesus.

  481. They want to say Amen. Anybody doing all right because

  482. when we talk about all the crucifixes of these Passover

  483. lambs, folks, we're talking about hundreds of thousands of

  484. lambs being sacrificed Tracy, you know, just being around

  485. farm. Just think about hundreds of

  486. thousands of the, the quantity of blood that's in the lamb,

  487. hundreds of thousands of that spilling to the ground and going

  488. right. That's a lot.

  489. I don't know if you've ever smelled blood in excess

  490. portions, but sometimes even has a smell that's taking place

  491. according to the ancient Jews and their their traditions,

  492. what's called the mission. And Sister Lane probably knows

  493. what I'm talking about because her brother probably talks about

  494. it all the time in that day whenever there's the shedding of

  495. the blood of the lambs. And they're having all these

  496. sacrifices that are taking place against hundreds of thousands

  497. during this time because Jerusalem has this influx of

  498. people, right? Everybody, it was, it was one of

  499. the feasts of Passover was mandatory for them to come and

  500. for them to offer their sacrifices.

  501. So we have a great influx of people.

  502. There's so many sacrifices. It tells us that the blood of

  503. the sacrifices was poured out in the drain that flowed out of the

  504. temple that mixed with a water channel that eventually flowed

  505. into the brook Kedron. The means Bishop is this.

  506. If one was approaching the temple proper during Passover,

  507. what they would see coming out the temple going down to the

  508. brook Kedron would be a mixture of blood, water, and whenever

  509. Christ was crucified, the spear through the side with blood and

  510. water coming out. Having already claimed that I'm

  511. that temple, destroy it three days.

  512. Every Jew would know in a moment he's claiming to be the temple.

  513. He's he's claiming to be the very dwelling place of God, the

  514. very dwelling place of God because there's blood and water

  515. coming out the side. John just makes the note because

  516. he doesn't want anybody to miss it and he doesn't want anybody

  517. to doubt it that Christ was this incomparable dwelling place of

  518. God, and as blood and water flowed from the literal temple,

  519. blood and water would flow from his side.

  520. Truly, a greater than the temple was here.

  521. Amen. This crucifix was more than just

  522. another bloody execution. It was a revelation.

  523. Come on. Oh yes, it was a revelation that

  524. this Christ that they seen do miracles, signs and wonders that

  525. yes, indeed, he could be forever and yet appear to have a, a, a

  526. termination. He, he for sure could open up

  527. blind eyes and seem to have to suffer by the hands of cruel

  528. men. And we're not getting to it this

  529. week, but he'll be known three days later that he can both if

  530. you will be forever and also have a time of death.

  531. Some would say, Amen, folks. This is just good old

  532. Resurrection Sunday stuff. This is just good old Easter

  533. stuff. Amen of the season that we're

  534. coming into. It made them understand that

  535. they didn't have to hang their heads.

  536. They didn't have to weave, but they didn't have to throw up

  537. their hands and say, well, we thought it was it, but it didn't

  538. come. No, no, no, he had come.

  539. He was there. He was powerful enough to

  540. restrain himself to a tree when he could have got off of it if

  541. he wanted to. That's the greatest power in

  542. restraint. He could have called a legion of

  543. angels if he wanted to, to come and get him off the tree.

  544. But if you want to see power, you see someone that says I'm

  545. going to choose to die so somebody else can live.

  546. You want to see? Well, yes, I know some are

  547. wagging their head. Boy, that's weakness.

  548. Look at that. Come down.

  549. If you're really who you say you are, you saved others save

  550. yourself. No, he said, because if I save

  551. myself, you'll go unsaved. I got to stay right where I am

  552. so that you'll be saved. Oh yes, it is the revelation of

  553. Christ crucified. It was more than just him being

  554. the Messiah, but was Him being their God.

  555. Amen. You stay with me this morning.

  556. But the 1st century people have trouble reconciling this, and

  557. some of them did indeed miss it. A Messiah crucified.

  558. Yeah. I hate to tell you, but that was

  559. God's forever plan. We looked at last week's sister

  560. Jessica. That Messiah would be cut off.

  561. That was God's forever plan. They had trouble reconciling

  562. that. Why?

  563. Because in most instances, when a man's put in the grave, he's

  564. there to stay. And that happens.

  565. It's said and done. It's over and out.

  566. But today we know when we hold true that the cross that we have

  567. in our minds, it's not there for a symbol of defeat.

  568. It's there for a symbol of divine power.

  569. It's the preaching of Christ crucified.

  570. That's a powerful message, scandalous to the Jews and

  571. foolishness to the Greeks, but it's eternal victory.

  572. The fact is, many still yet today in our modern world

  573. struggle with the fact of a crucified savior.

  574. But the message of salvation is still the same.

  575. And if you're one of those, you say, Brother McGee, I'm waiting

  576. for the sign. If you're waiting for the sign,

  577. let me point you to Calvary. It's already happened.

  578. The signs already happened. You don't need something new or

  579. something inventive to somehow persuade you now.

  580. No, we've already been given all the signs that we need.

  581. Hey, man, I mean him with blood and water just coming out with

  582. that itself a sign. 3 days and three nights in the earth,

  583. that's itself as a sign. The miracle signs and wonders

  584. that he did that itself as a sign.

  585. Never a man spake like this, man.

  586. I mean, it's all around you. Use the Christ, use this

  587. Messiah. He is the living God.

  588. He has the keys to death. He has keys to the grave so that

  589. we can stand and go to things like we did yesterday with

  590. funerals and such and grave sides and say, oh, death, where

  591. is your sting? Oh grave, where is your victory?

  592. Because of the crucified Christ, His resurrection enables every

  593. other resurrection that'll ever take place.

  594. I think it's First Corinthians 15 that speaks that they have

  595. all. It's a long chapter, all

  596. concerning the crucifixion and mainly though, the resurrection.

  597. Basically that if Christ has not risen, then we're still dead in

  598. our sins. If he's not risen, then we're

  599. preaching A fallacy. There's no hope, but he comes

  600. around to say he has risen. So we do have hope.

  601. We do have hope. We do have opportunity, if you

  602. will, that we don't have to die in our sins because in many

  603. instances he died in our sins. Christ crucified.

  604. Spare our heads across this place today.

  605. The Jews searching for a sign, Oh my Lord, for Bethlehem's

  606. Manger to Calvary. It's filled with indicators

  607. about who he was, what he desired to do, and even when the

  608. the chief priests and stuff asked him, are you the Christ?

  609. Notice all along he he, he skirted that issue a little bit

  610. because the timing of his death was important, but he knew the

  611. time was ripe. It was going to happen.

  612. So he didn't he didn't beat around no Bush.

  613. He said quite plainly, I am, I am.

  614. Let's, let's just make sure that he dies.

  615. Then the very thing that they couldn't reconcile is the very

  616. thing then that Peter used on the Day of Pentecost to bring

  617. them to a place of repentance. He's like, y'all killed you,

  618. king of glory, the Messiah that you was looking for, you laid in

  619. a grave. What are you going to do about

  620. that? They felt horrible.

  621. They felt guilty and they ask men and brethren, what shall we

  622. do? That's when Peter said repent,

  623. be baptized, everyone of you in the name of the Lord Jesus

  624. Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of

  625. the Holy Ghost. The message is still a crucified

  626. Christ. I wonder if we could raise our

  627. hands if you're accepting to it today.

  628. Across this building, you stand where you are today.

  629. You're able to experience what you experienced today because of

  630. a crucified Christ. He is the Messiah, He is the

  631. King, He is the anointed 1 and he's your God.

  632. He's your God. He's the creator of all things,

  633. the orderer of all things. He has put all things into place

  634. and he's devised a plan for humanity.

  635. He's devised a plan for humanity.

  636. Blood and water came from his side.

  637. He's the dwelling place of God in that earthly ministry.

  638. Walking here below, up on the earth, He was the dwelling place

  639. of God. Hallelujah.

  640. Look no further. Your God has come.

  641. Look no further. Your God has come.

  642. If you need him today, if you need him in your life, you need

  643. him in circumstances and situations.

  644. If you still yet need to experience the forgiveness of

  645. sins in your life, your God, your Messiah has come.

  646. Hallelujah. Look no other place but to

  647. Calvary. Look no other place but to go

  648. off this hill. Hallelujah.

  649. The work has been done. We're not going to, we're not

  650. going to crucify Him over. He's the once and for all

  651. sacrifice, as the writer of Hebrews says.

  652. He's the ones for all sacrifice. The blood of bulls and the blood

  653. of Rams no longer, no longer is necessary, no longer is needed,

  654. because the perfect Lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the

  655. world. Amen.

  656. He had a plan and He had you in that plan.

  657. You were upon His mind. It was for your sins.

  658. It was for your transgressions, It was for your pitfalls.

  659. Hallelujah. Aren't you glad that you know a

  660. Savior like that? A king like that man?

  661. Keep. Keep the sign on the cross for

  662. me. He's my king.

  663. He's my king. He's my savior.

  664. Keep it up there. I want to identify with that.

  665. I want to accept that. I want to associate with that.

  666. Oh, can we cry out to him today? There's no God like my God.

  667. There's no God like my God. Hallelujah, Jesus.

  668. Hallelujah, Jesus, Oh, we magnify you, Jesus, God, You're

  669. willing, Lord, to reach humanity to the uttermost, to the

  670. uttermost. Hallelujah, Hallelujah.

  671. We're redeemed because of you, God.

  672. There's nothing, Lord, to reconcile.

  673. I don't have to mock. I have to mock, Lord.

  674. I understand. You are who you said you are.

  675. You are God who you said you are.

  676. Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Let's lift our voices for the

  677. Mason has prepared a song here today.

  678. Oh, let's get a picture of that crucified Christ.

  679. Hallelujah. That's not weakness, That's not

  680. foolishness. It's the power of God on

  681. display. It's the power of God on

  682. display. Hallelujah, Jesus, you give a

  683. life.
