It's wonderful today, Hallelujah, praise the name of
-
Jesus, Amen. You can stand with me today.
-
If you're still in here, turn to Matthew chapter #12 and a lot of
-
really a lot of thanks could be given also today, Amen, with the
-
events of thing. I give thanks to brother Alex
-
Mason traveling with myself Amen on Friday for our turn around
-
less than 24 hour trip Amen of getting these seats back home
-
and so appreciate him going with me making the sacrifice to do
-
so. And then we had a few different
-
people here that yesterday, Brother Fred was here, Bishop, I
-
know help, Brother Reese was here, and then my daughter and
-
then Alex and Grace was here. And I'm not saying that
-
disrespectfully, but a few different ones for carrying in,
-
cleaning off the bottoms and putting an order and so on and
-
so forth. And just this week we're talking
-
about some of the things need done leading up to Easter and of
-
course, getting the lot done. Sister Sheila took care of
-
making sure that would be done. And and I, I knew we need to get
-
the weeds out of our landscaping.
-
Always happens to the winter and spring come we get more grass in
-
our landscaping. Do we do in the lawn?
-
And so he was here cleaning that out when we left with a calendar
-
like meeting with some of our leaders on Thursday.
-
We just talked about it in meeting.
-
He was, he was just in tune. I mean, he, he was out there in
-
the rain getting weeds and such. And so we appreciate him for
-
doing so. Amen.
-
Matthew chapter #12 And I'm going to read verse 38 and
-
several several weeks ago I started on this Revelation bit
-
and I didn't really plan on going like 5 weeks or anything
-
like that or his things, but this will be the end of it.
-
OK, this is this. I'm convinced it's the end.
-
And you might think I'm a week off because I want to talk about
-
the revelation of Christ's resurrection and I understand
-
today's Palm Sunday. I'd get that I'm not a week off.
-
This is just how it goes, all right?
-
I sometimes preach thematically, meaning that the special times
-
three years, like when Independence Day, I'll preach
-
your long independence Oregon, blah blah, blah.
-
And there's other times I don't all right.
-
And if the if the spirit leads, the Lord directs, then so forth.
-
But here we are today. Matthew chapter #12 So if you've
-
been here for any of the revelation lessons, messages,
-
whatever you wish to call them, this this is connected to to
-
that Matthew rather Matthew 12 verse 38.
-
Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered,
-
saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
-
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous
-
generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall no sign be given
-
to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas or Jonah in the
-
Old Testament. For as Jonas was 3 days and
-
three nights in the Wells belly, so shall the Son of Man be 3
-
days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
-
The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation
-
and shall condemn it because they repented at the preaching
-
of Jonas. And behold, a greater than Jonas
-
is here again. I want to talk to us today about
-
the revelation of Christ's resurrection of Christ's
-
resurrection today. Can we lift our voices one more
-
time in prayer and ask the Lord to help us here today?
-
Father, I thank you, Lord, for your goodness.
-
I pray, O Lord Jesus, bring revelation, Lord, in our lives
-
today. God, we are on the cusp Lord of
-
entering that time of celebrating your resurrection.
-
I pray, O Lord, open our minds and understanding to your word.
-
I pray Jesus today you're able to touch us afresh and a new
-
God, those here God, those that may be watching online, God that
-
you're able to bring the Lord God is spirit of enlightenment.
-
Lord God, our minds and our hearts.
-
God today concerning this in the lovely name of Jesus Christ that
-
I pray Hallelujah and Amen of the church say Amen, Amen.
-
You may be seated this morning. Someone says thank you, thank
-
you, God bless you, Amen. The resurrection of Jesus
-
Christ, the resurrection and we are we're right here on the the
-
cusp of celebrating that of course, next week, Amen.
-
According to our calendar and such.
-
But the resurrection of Jesus Christ him coming back to life
-
differs from some of the others prior to him that came back to
-
life. All right there's a difference
-
really we we read through the Gospels of for instance, the
-
widow son that had came back from from life the widow of name
-
her son Jesus touched the coffin and he comes back to life.
-
We read in scripture also of Jerrys daughter who came back to
-
life after he being dead. We even, we even read of
-
Lazarus, Jesus standing in that tomb speaking those words,
-
Lazarus come forth and him coming back to life as well.
-
And all those individuals, the widow son of all those that I've
-
mentioned, they all, they all were revived in their bodies,
-
revived with life, but their bodies by and large wasn't
-
materially different than what they were before.
-
And as a matter of fact, each one of them would eventually
-
meet death again. They they would go by way of the
-
grave again. However, whenever Jesus
-
resurrected from the dead, we understand and we read in the
-
Gospel some of the, the great feats and great acts of Jesus,
-
even after his resurrection. And we read such things like
-
this that, that there's times that he is what appears as you
-
read in Scripture. He's walking through walls all
-
right, there's closed doors and he's I don't know about you, but
-
in this physical body I have right now, if I walk toward that
-
wall, you're going to hire a thud that's that's as good as
-
it's going to get all right, but but Jesus is walking through
-
walls where there's closed doors.
-
As a matter of fact, his bodily appearance seems to be very
-
seems to be like it was before at least the appearance of it.
-
But the essence is that it was different.
-
It wasn't the same body, so to speak, that He was put in the
-
ground with the Angel had met Mary there at the tomb whenever
-
Mary went to the tomb to see concerning her Lord and Savior
-
and the Angel indeed told her that He is risen and with the
-
Lord, unlike these others that had been revived, death never
-
revisited him. Death never revisited his body.
-
We read in first Corinthians 15 in first Corinthians 15 is a
-
whole chapter really about the resurrection.
-
If you've never read it before, I suggest that you do so.
-
But there are some verses in first Corinthians 15 verse #42
-
starting it says these words. So also is the resurrection of
-
the dead. It is sown in corruption, but
-
it's raised in incorruption. It's sown in dishonor, but it is
-
raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is
-
raised in power. It is sown a natural body, but
-
it is raised a spiritual body. There's a natural body and
-
there's a spiritual body. The Apostle Paul speaking to the
-
church at Corinth and he is telling them and he uses as an
-
analogy, and I've spoke of this to this extent before here, but
-
he uses an analogy of like seeds that are put or planted are sown
-
in the ground. That the seed that you put in
-
the ground, that's not necessarily the same form that
-
it comes out of the ground. You, you put a acorn in the
-
ground and it's not as though it comes up looking like what was
-
put into the ground, right? It it has a different body, if
-
you will. It's not what is sown.
-
It's not the same thing that comes up.
-
And So what that's what the apostle Paul is alluding to
-
here. He says whenever there's a
-
resurrected body, that which goes into the ground is not
-
identical or the same. It's not 100% the same.
-
The Jesus resurrection, though, on that matter, whenever he came
-
for from the tomb, it was more than just spirit that came from
-
the tomb. It's more than just spirit that
-
came from the tomb. He did have a body of some
-
magnitude. He did have a body of some
-
degree. As a matter of fact, we read in
-
Scripture in Luke 24 that Jesus did come among his disciples
-
after the resurrection, and he come before them and they were
-
startled. The Bible says they were
-
startled supposing they had seen a spirit is what the Scripture
-
says. They're startled seeing him #1
-
he's supposed to be dead, right? And so they're startled
-
supposing that they had seen a spirit and Jesus is then replied
-
to them from that, knowing what was in their minds and their
-
hearts. He told them, he said it is I
-
myself. What did he tell them?
-
He said handle me, handle me and see.
-
He said, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones as you see me
-
have. This is the resurrected Christ
-
saying that. This is the resurrected Christ
-
saying that a spirit don't have flesh and bones as I have right
-
now. So he still had some magnitude
-
of a body after his resurrection, but it just wasn't
-
exactly the same body that he had prior to the resurrection
-
because he's refuting all their thinking that this is just a
-
spirit. No, handle me, I can be that you
-
can feel me. I have flesh and I have bones.
-
As a matter of fact they went to the degree and Thomas for sure
-
wanted this when he seen the Lord.
-
He wanted to feel, you know, the nail prints in his hands and
-
where the spear went through his side.
-
And all of those things are, are bodily wounds that the Lord had
-
from his previous time of being alive.
-
And they wanted to fill all those things.
-
And so Paul said it right, Absolutely.
-
In First Corinthians 15, Paul said that the resurrected body,
-
it's different. It's a glorified body.
-
It's a powerful body. It's a spiritual body.
-
And so Jesus came back resurrected in the in a bodily
-
life type of form, but it wasn't exactly like that which hung on
-
the cross because now he's going through walls right there in
-
their presence, right? And he's going to shoot himself
-
alive by many infallible proofs the Bible says.
-
And so here's the thing. If if this death defying feat of
-
him this death defying feat of him alive on whenever Jesus
-
spoke to Mary after his resurrection, he to meet me at
-
Galilee, just like I aforementioned before I was ever
-
crucified that they meet me there at Galilee.
-
Go tell them to do that. And so she went and told them
-
that the Lord and if you'll remember she she spelled out
-
specifically and Peter, you know I want you all to meet the Lord
-
allely disciples of the Lord like Peter, James and John.
-
We're talking about household disciple names that whenever
-
they got there. The Bible tells us that there
-
were some that worshipped, but there were others that doubted.
-
That's right. Yeah.
-
Among those that ate with him, you know, climbed hills with
-
him, seeing the miraculous done by him, there were some that
-
were worshipping as a result of seeing him pass the resurrection
-
there others that still had some doubts in their mind.
-
As a matter of fact, whatever Jesus appeared to Mary
-
Magdalene, Amen. She she told those that had been
-
with him during his earthly ministry.
-
Again she told them, hey, I've been there, I've seen it.
-
The tomb is empty, but he is alive.
-
From her own her own first account witness of what she had
-
been exposed to the Bible says many of them did not believe her
-
and it was typical. And I don't I don't get out in
-
the waters of this. And and this is not a male
-
chauvinist statement here. This is just a cultural thing.
-
In those days, they they just had a problem believing they
-
thought women were unreliable. Right or wrong, right or wrong,
-
they thought they were unreliable, which is simply the
-
case. So whenever they spoke those
-
words to her, Scripture even tells us in one of the Gospels,
-
they received her words as though it was just some idle
-
tale. They couldn't put no credence.
-
They couldn't put no, no, no, no weight in that because it came
-
from Mary. But then the Bible tells us
-
there were two other disciples. This is spoken in one of the in
-
one of the Gospels, presumably the two that were on their way
-
to Emmaus in scriptures that whenever they had their
-
interactive action with the resurrection Jesus, the Bible
-
says they they left Emmaus and they went back to where the
-
other disciples were and they begin to share with them every
-
thing that they had experienced. And once again, the Scripture
-
says this, that those two who told their story to the others,
-
the others did not believe, Amen, did not believe.
-
Then much later in Acts 17, and, and I can almost even accept
-
this more than the disciples saying they didn't believe.
-
Much later in Acts 17, the apostle is there at Athens and
-
he's talking to people that are not in covenant with the Lord
-
and just at him mentioning the resurrection from the dead.
-
The Bible says that they even mocked.
-
Well, I can see that maybe someone that has no, no, if you
-
will, relationship with Jesus Christ saying, well, that's just
-
a bunch of whatever I'm talking about.
-
There were many instances of the disciples where there were
-
certain disbelief among them. But something had to happen,
-
right? Because we read in scripture
-
these disciples, many of them unbelieving in disbelief, so on
-
and so forth. And somewhere along the way,
-
these very same ones then started to embrace the fact that
-
the one that said he died and rise the Thursday he is indeed
-
like. They started believing that
-
doubters became believers. The ones that were questionable
-
became believers. So something had to happen.
-
Something had to change in order for them to say no, it didn't
-
happen. To announce that being, if you
-
will, the voice that says it did happen, something had to change.
-
The Bible tells us, and we see it.
-
For one thing, we remember that whenever Mary come and told the
-
disciples, the Bible says that Peter and John gets in this foot
-
race as though it seems on the way to the tomb for them to
-
witness for themselves these very things.
-
And the Bible says when they get there, they witness that the
-
tomb is empty. They know emphatically that that
-
had to be in a filled tomb. It was a borrowed tomb, but they
-
had been a filled tomb with Christ's body, but now it is
-
empty. So for one thing, they had their
-
own witness, sister, she lives seeing with their own eyes of
-
what should have been there was not there.
-
The Bible tells us, Mary Magdalene, she thought when she
-
got the tomb and seen the condition, that hey, there's not
-
a body here, She evens going around like where?
-
Where have they taken my Lord? Somebody's taking him.
-
Where? Where his body, somebody's
-
taking him. She's speaking.
-
If you'll just tell me where he's at, I'll take care of the
-
body. I'll make sure he's tended to.
-
If you can just tell me where it's at.
-
As a matter of fact, we understand then that that opened
-
up a whole, if you will, nest of rumors and lies.
-
Amen. In the 1st century, the Romans
-
started rumoring around that the disciples came during the night
-
and they stole the body of the Lord Jesus Christ away.
-
As a matter of fact, the tells us that they even paid some
-
money to a few folks. If you can start the rumor, if
-
you can get word around. But this is indeed what's
-
happened. While the soldiers slept, they
-
came in and they stole away the body.
-
Amen. But you got to understand, in
-
order for that to happen, in order for that rumor to be true,
-
that the disciples stole away the body of the Lord Jesus
-
Christ, here's what had to happen.
-
You had to have these disciples who were very fearful during all
-
of this time of the Lord being apprehended, arrested,
-
crucified. They're very fearful at this
-
time. They're on egg shells.
-
Point in case at Gethsemane when they all should have been
-
praying and the band of soldiers show up with their swords and
-
with their stage at Gethsemane. The Bible tells us all of them
-
fled. As a matter of fact, we only
-
have really in the Bible we know of just a couple that's even
-
showing up at the crucifix that we know John was there.
-
And it seems like maybe Peter may have been there.
-
But we really don't have record of anybody else's per SE.
-
And so if, if, if the rumor is true that they stole, if they
-
stole the body away, you're going to have to have a bunch of
-
fearful disciples come to a tomb that was sealed with a Roman
-
tomb and guarded by soldiers. Remove a stone while soldiers
-
slept. I'm sure that's not the quietest
-
thing to do, Remove a stone while the soldiers slept and not
-
disturb them. And that they would be able to
-
get beyond their fear that if someone woke up, they're going
-
to be OK. I'm going to say Amen.
-
Not only that, there's other, we have other evidence here.
-
These soldiers, if they fell asleep, Roman law had it, if
-
those soldiers fell asleep and they lost the body that they
-
were supposed to be guarding. Scripture tells us in other
-
places when soldiers have been given the responsibility over a
-
prisoner or someone like that, it was his life for their life.
-
If they lost the one, then they're going to their life is
-
going to be done with. And so here are these men that
-
are falling asleep. If they lost a body, they may
-
have just easily been killed. So we have disciples the
-
impossibly showing up at a very potentially dangerous time at
-
the garden tomb. Amen.
-
And they're going to still await the body when they couldn't even
-
appear at the cross. Someone say Amen.
-
But another proof is that Jesus's resurrection he appeared
-
to many that knew him before his death, after his death, and they
-
could confirm that's him. The Bible says in your Bible in
-
Acts chapter #1 that after his passion, which is his death,
-
burial and resurrection, after his passion he shooed himself
-
alive. He showed himself to them by
-
many infallible proofs, being seen of them, His disciples for
-
40 days after his resurrection. Jesus is making house calls left
-
and right after his resurrection.
-
He's showing up to people that knew him before he was ever
-
crucified. After his resurrection, he
-
appeared to Mary Magdalene. He appeared to many of his
-
female followers as well. According to the scripture.
-
He appeared to Simon Peter, James and John, and Thomas and
-
Nathaniel. He appeared to two other
-
disciples. He appeared to the whole 11 as a
-
group. There was a unnamed disciple.
-
The Bible speaks of that. He appeared to.
-
The book of Corinthians says there were more than 500
-
brethren at once that he had shown himself to.
-
Amen. On one hand, we could even point
-
to the fact, listen, we have people after Jesus resurrected
-
that they went on preaching the gospel in the ministry of the
-
Lord Jesus Christ. You know what they were doing,
-
Brother Reese. They didn't care how dangerous
-
it was. They were to the point of
-
surrendering their very lives as martyrs for the truth of the
-
death and the burial of resurrection.
-
If it was a farce, if it was untrue, why in the world would
-
you give yourself to something that has no no meaning to it, no
-
truth to it? But they said I'm willing to
-
die. Peter says you can crucify me
-
upside down because I'm not even worthy to be crucified right
-
side up as he is. If anything else, they were
-
willing to give their all for what had taken place and what
-
had happened. Someone say Amen.
-
But just equally important as all of that.
-
Is that the resurrection fulfills scripture as much as
-
His crucifixion fulfills Scripture.
-
We have stuff from the Old Testament.
-
We talk about no bone of his body being broke.
-
We talk about Him being pierced with all these things of Old
-
Testament prophecies that are fulfilled in his crucifixion.
-
But there is Scripture that's fulfilled in his resurrection as
-
well. The Bible says, and you can look
-
at it, Jesus references a passage from the Old Testament
-
that supports Paul's statement. Paul said that he was raised on
-
the third day in accordance with Scripture, was raised on the
-
third day in accordance with Scripture.
-
And so in our text, Jesus is really using an Old Testament
-
passage that supports this, this statement, if you will,
-
Scripture being fulfilled. He said they're asking for a
-
sign. Remember we talked about that a
-
few weeks ago, but they're asking for a sign.
-
And he says there shall no sign be given you but the sign of the
-
prophet Jonas. Jonas spent three days and three
-
nights in the wells belly and said like like means or likewise
-
shall the Son of Man spend 3 days and three nights in the
-
heart of the earth from our previous studies and you may go
-
back to listen them. In our previous studies we made
-
it clear that the messages we have established that the Son of
-
man was the Messiah was Jesus Christ.
-
Doctor Brandt says this, it's interesting and you could go
-
really either way as you read the scripture of Jonah, he says.
-
But if you read the book of Jonah carefully, you will
-
discover something interesting. The author of the book never
-
claims that Jonah remained alive for three days and three nights
-
in the fish. In fact, it pretty explicitly
-
says that Jonah died and went to the realm of the dead.
-
Jonah chapter one, verse 17. Now the Lord had prepared a
-
great fish to swallow you ready to go back to Sunday school?
-
So we have got the little fish out today, a great fish out to
-
swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of
-
the fish 3 days and three nights.
-
If you go to verse 2, I believe it is of chapter #2 and we begin
-
to look at the prayer of Jonah. He says out of the belly of
-
hell, which is show pride eye show is a Old Testament
-
designation for the abode of the dead.
-
So he's saying out of the belly of the abode of the dead.
-
I cried, Jonah says in verse 5 of that same chapter.
-
He said the waters come passing me about even to the soul.
-
He said the earth with her bars was about me forever.
-
Yet thou has brought up my life from corruption many times to
-
the Old Testament. When you read corruption Amen.
-
It is talking about the grave or destruction.
-
You remember Paul said in first Corinthians 1542 that even the
-
resurrection from the dead, they're sown in what they're
-
sown in corruption, but they're raised in in corruption.
-
The psalmist David said it like this or Psalms rather Psalm 16
-
and verse 10 and we read this in New Testament Scripture as well.
-
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, which is show the
-
grave, neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption
-
again speaking concerning the the the the decomposition, the
-
destruction that one would find being in the grave.
-
Then in Jonah 2 and verse 10 back to Jonah 2 and 10.
-
The Bible says, tells us that the fish vomited out Jonah.
-
That's always a nice verse to read.
-
And it gives you just, yeah, it vomited out Jonah.
-
If he was in fact, and you listen, I'm not saying, listen,
-
maybe he was alive. Maybe he was dead.
-
Maybe what he's saying in chapter #2 maybe it's all
-
poetic, Amen. Referencing death.
-
Or maybe he was dead. Maybe it's a reference that he
-
died. But if so, if Jonas vomited out
-
this body or this corpse is vomited out here on the dry
-
ground, the Bible says here are the first words so that God
-
spoke to a vomited out Jonah and Jonah, I know, I'm sorry.
-
It should I say he like, yeah, regurgitated.
-
Would that be better? Jonah chapter 3 and verse #2 the
Jonah 3 chapter mention
-
first words of God to him, right.
-
So you can go two ways. You can assume he's vomited out
-
and he's there alive, or he's vomited out, he's there dead.
-
The first word that God speaks to him is arise.
-
Now what's interesting about this word arise in the Hebrew,
-
it's kum says arising, going to Nineveh, that great city, and
-
preach and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.
-
But that group, that Hebrew word arise kum, has its Aramaic
-
equivalent in the New Testament areas eating this is Jesus now
-
and speaking Jairus's daughter. And he took the damsel by the
-
hand and said unto her, Kalitha Kumi, which is being
-
interpreted, damsel. I say unto thee, arise that Old
-
Testament word here in Mark 5 that's it's Aramaic equivalent
-
and it's used for someone that was dead that's being called
-
back to life. And it's the first word we have
-
in the book of Jonah that God speaks to Jonah after his body
-
is expelled. How about that?
-
Expelled on the dry ground. It was a rise.
-
Jesus says in the New Testament, he said there's no sign going to
-
be given you, but the sign of Jonah 3 days and three nights in
-
the wells, barely. And I can accept that.
-
I can see the Lord was 3 days and three nights in the heart of
-
the earth. I have no problem with that.
-
But I'm just saying this morning, consider we're dealing
-
more than just some poetic reference for death in the book
-
of Jonah. Consider we're dealing with
-
something more with just, you know, imagery and things of that
-
nature. Consider if we're talking about
-
a Jonah that was dead in the belly.
-
Amen of well and as we expelled on the ground and the first
-
words that God spoke to him from, there was a rise which has
-
its Aramaic equivalent of getting up from death.
-
Amen and go do the job folks. Whenever I start processing all
-
that, I'm along with the apostle Paul saying in accordance to
-
Scripture, he has resurrection. In accordance with Scripture,
-
he's come back to life dead 3 days, but now life is now
-
through his veins again, Amen. And so that's wonderful that the
-
resurrection of Jesus Christ in part is the Son of man, or
-
Christ Jesus fulfilling the words or the prophecy of Jonah
-
being three days, three nights in the belly, Amen, of the well.
-
But there's something else that I think we need to take in
-
consideration this morning as well.
-
I think there's another aspect to the sign of Jonah in, in the
-
book of Jonah chapter #3 because Jonah does arise and he does go
-
to the city of Nineveh, which was the, the, the, the main city
-
of the Assyrian Empire. If I say it like this, it was
-
sister Amaya, A Gentile city, Gentile city.
-
And he's going there and he's preaching his message.
-
He's delivering what God told him to deliver.
-
And as a result of that, we're seeing a Gentile king with
-
Gentile people and they're putting on sackcloth and they're
-
rubbing their heads with ashes, which was a sign of repentance.
-
They were humiliating themselves, so to speak, in the
-
dust. As a matter of fact, the Gentile
-
king gives a decree to his people, but they were even going
-
to fast and that they were going to cry out to God.
-
That's Jonah 37. They were a Gentile nation, a
-
Gentile city going to cry out to God because of the message that
-
they had heard by Jonah. The king even urges every one of
-
them. He says turn from your evil way.
-
When you, you, you hear that language of turn in the Old
-
Testament, that's repentance because, because that's what
-
repentance is. It's a turn.
-
It's an about face. It's 180° turn around.
-
He's telling these Gentile people, Amen, to repent, to turn
-
from your evil way. And so we have a Gentile city
-
that is repenting based upon the message that they have heard by
-
Jonah. What are you saying?
-
I'm saying this is another aspect of the sign of Jonah
-
because Jonah, if we can, rose from the dead and he goes with
-
the message and based upon his message, there's Gentile people
-
that are starting to repent. Do you know that after the
-
resurrection of Jesus Christ we see a move into the Gentile
-
cities and nations of that day greater than before his
-
resurrection? Whenever he resurrection,
-
there's Gentile people on the left hand and right hand
-
throughout Scripture begin to read up that they start to
-
repent, they start to come to God.
-
They're a group, even nations, that start to become Christians
-
and lovers of God based upon the message of a resurrected man.
-
Hey man, glory. So there's really, he says you,
-
you, you want, you want a revelation of Christ's
-
resurrection. I tell you what it is.
-
It's not just that he was three days and three nights and he was
-
dead and came back to life, but it's that there is this great
-
revival among the Gentiles happening after he resurrected
-
concerning Jonah, likewise concerning the Lord Jesus Christ
-
after his resurrection. What's he do?
-
He gathers his disciples together and he gives them what
-
is popularly called the Great Commission, right?
-
Go into all the world, not just the Jewish sectors of the world,
-
but go into all the world, teach them, make disciples, if you
-
will, of all nations, if I say all nations.
-
So now the, the primary focus here, the Commission, it's not
-
just Jewish focused. Christ first came to the earth.
-
There was still yet a much a bigger Jewish focus than world
-
focus, right. Later talks about, well, you
-
know, even the dogs receive the crumbs that come from the
-
master's table. He's talked to her about my meat
-
is not for the gentile, but for the Jews, you know, you
-
understand. And so there is this, this
-
switch that is coming place here because now the ministry in the
-
mission is for sure as it was supposed to be, it was a global
-
mission that included Jews, Samaritan, Gentile, it did not
-
matter. But all that predominantly
-
happens after Jesus is resurrected.
-
It's in those times after his resurrection that we have the
-
Acts 10 occurrences, right? A Cornelius of the Italian ban,
-
a Roman centurion a Cornelius of the Italian band, a Roman
-
centurion. The vision of a sheet coming
-
down of all these unclean beasts on but it came down 3 as that
-
which I have cleanse call thou not unclean.
-
And that's number two. It happened three times and
-
three individuals were going to show up at his door that by all
-
law would have been considered unclean.
-
That thing had happened three times with him.
-
He didn't hesitate. He went with those men and that
-
carried him to Cornelius. And it was at Cornelius, in all
-
of his household, these Gentile people.
-
What does he start to preach? He preaches Jesus, and while he
-
yet spoke the Word, they begin to speak in other tongues as the
-
Spirit of God gave them utterance.
-
You want a revelation of the resurrection?
-
Look at the Gentile hall, Look at the Gentile household that's
-
receiving the gift of God's Spirit.
-
Amen. It was there Peter's envision
-
impressed this on him. Acts 10, verse 34 and 35.
-
I'll read it to you. The Bible says.
-
Then Peter opened his mouth and said of a truth.
-
Look, look what Peter's saying. This is in this mood with
-
Cornelius and the Gentile people.
-
He says of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of
-
persons, but in every nation, not just the Jewish nation, but
-
in every nation, He feareth them.
-
He that feareth Him worketh. Righteousness is accepted with
-
Him. You know what that's saying?
-
He's for that one and that one and that one.
-
There's no one that's out of bounds.
-
Even the Apostle Paul's ministry was called a light unto the
-
Gentiles. That's happened after the
-
resurrection, a light to the Gentiles.
-
And there's churches being planted.
-
We see in the book of Acts, there's churches being planted
-
all throughout the Roman Empire, all throughout a Gentile
-
littered empire. There's cities like Corinth
-
where we have the book of Corinthians, the letter that's
-
written to the church. Then at Corinth, Ephesus, that
-
city, Ephesians, right, Philippi, that city,
-
Philippians, Rome, that city, Romans, it's spreading like
-
wildfire after Jesus's resurrection.
-
So it goes beyond all these Jewish roots.
-
It meets the Gentiles as well, and they're embracing that, the
-
gospel, the death and resurrection, that it occurred.
-
It happened so that someday in heaven we'll witness what John
-
witness that there is a number that no man can number prized of
-
every tribe, every tongue, every nation.
-
That it will be just like we'd already looked at in weeks past
-
of the prophecy of Daniel, of that one stone being cut without
-
hands that takes out every other Kingdom, but then grows into a
-
such a great mountain that it fuels the whole earth.
-
Samaritan, Gentile, Japanese, Chinese, Asian, African
-
American, someone say glory Thomas in handling the
-
resurrected Christ. It prompted him those famous
-
words. He handles him.
-
He's waiting for this moment. He was not there when Jesus
-
first came. That's Thomas's fault, but he
-
wasn't there. But whenever he came again,
-
Thomas handled all those spots and the exclamation from his own
-
mouth, which was a revelation in essence as he handled the
-
resurrected Christ was my Lord and my God.
-
That statement alone brought proof and vindication to
-
everything that Jesus has been saying in his earthly ministry.
-
Everything that he done, that was proven.
-
He was the Messiah and he was more than just a man, He was
-
divine. You'll stand with me today.
-
So what are you saying then this morning?
-
I'm saying this revelation of Christ's resurrection according
-
to Jesus by his own words in the Gospels, the sign has already
-
been given. There be no sign but Jonah, 3
-
days and three nights in the belly of the earth.
-
And so just as Jonas came from that situation with a message
-
that changed a Gentile city, Jesus arose also, and a message
-
continued as well. And listen, that message is
-
still able to change you today. Some worship, some doubt, but
-
whether you as a worshipper or a doubter, all were invited.
-
All were invited. So you don't have to have all
-
the answers this morning. Hear me well.
-
I don't have all the answers. You don't have to have all the
-
answers. You don't even have to feel
-
qualified. But if you can come in faith
-
today, faith in the one who conquered death, I guarantee he
-
can meet us right here this morning.
-
If you're here today and you're tired of running you, you've
-
been waiting maybe for the sign, so to speak.
-
Listen, the sign has already been given.
-
You need the power of His resurrection in your life.
-
You need the power of His erection, resurrection in your
-
home, in your mind, because this is it.
-
This is it. The tomb is empty.
-
Jesus is alive, and from that day until now, Amen.
-
Even though His physical presence isn't here, but His
-
spirit is, He is still shooing Himself alive by many infallible
-
proofs, and one of those proofs is lives still being changed by
-
the message of whosoever will let him come.
-
So as we come this morning, you can come with your doubts, you
-
can come with your questions, you can come with your
-
brokenness. It don't matter.
-
You don't have to stay in your seat.
-
You can come with all of those questionable things in your
-
mind, but you can say, Lord here, my God, just let the power
-
of your resurrection somehow bring revelation into my life,
-
that there is victory over death, O God, there's victory
-
over sin. And because this morning I Satan
-
these means, because the tomb is empty, we can have open altars
-
in our churches. Because it is empty, we can have
-
open altars in our churches. And I'm just asking you today,
-
can you respond to an old, old sign that is still just as
-
relevant, still such as powerful as it's ever been?
-
He arose, there's a message and there was transformation.
-
And that's still happening today.
-
That's the only revelation. I need a man of his
-
resurrection. Some of you today can stand here
-
and say, Brother McGee, I can testify.
-
I thought there was no hope for me.
-
I thought I was beyond hope, beyond reach.
-
But he came down, he found you. He gave you a second chance.
-
And you're like, I can testify today of the power of his
-
resurrection because I've experienced in my I have no
-
roots, if you will, that maybe maybe some of you don't have no
-
roots that are Jewish, so to speak, or you don't have this or
-
you don't have listen, it's the whosoever will chin.
-
It doesn't matter. Resurrection just busted open
-
the doors for a way of ministry reaching every tribe, every
-
nation around the world, and he's still doing it today.
-
I just sat up on my Facebook. I was sharing the a OJC of the
-
Philippines not long ago of all the different ones that got
-
baptized in the Holy Ghost in 2024 and it's just astronomical.
-
Filipino people Church is being accepted.
-
It's all happened all over the world.
-
If you never follow some of our missionaries, you just need to
-
do it because it's the scope beyond the United States, right?
-
The whole world knows. I don't need any other evidence
-
of the power of a resurrected life when I see the resurrected
-
lives of those from an old life to a new life today.
-
Hallelujah. Can we just be mindful, The
-
Lord, right now? I love you, God.
-
God, I know sometimes we have doubts and I know sometimes we
-
have unbelief and there's questions and maybe, God, that
-
we falter in our walk and we falter.
-
Lord Jesus, the Lord Jesus, you gave us the sign, God, it's the
-
sign that forever changed the world and changed the dynamics
-
of the life of those that would allow it, Lord Jesus, into the
-
innermost parts of their lives. Hallelujah, Jesus.
-
Lord, next week we're going to come in here.
-
We're going to celebrate that resurrection next week.
-
We're going to come in here, we're going to lift up that
-
name. We're going to take special time
-
to do so. But God, there's no reason why
-
God can't even celebrate it today.
-
And what that power and that glorified Lord Jesus means.
-
Lord for our personal lives, day by day, hour by hour.
-
God, what it's done for me. God, I might as well been just
-
another member, Lord of society and Nineveh.
-
God that was turning Lord from my evil way.
-
God that went to a mode of repentance, of crying out for
-
God for mercy. He's still willing to extend it
-
today. The power of the resurrection
-
isn't just a power that's known in the 1st century, but it is
-
trans. It is transition from century to
-
century. It's still got power.
-
The blood still has power. That act that signs still has
-
power. It's able, Hallelujah, the blood
-
of the crucifix is still able, still able to heal the power,
-
the resurrection is still able to revive.
-
Amen. Those from an old life to a new
-
life and give you a hope for it tomorrow.
-
Hallelujah, Jesus, let's worship him right now in song.
-
This altar is open, Amen. And it's open because there is
-
empty tomb. It's open because there is a
-
vacancy somewhere in Jerusalem where a body was laid.
-
I beg you, Lord Jesus, today, God, for a resurrected Christ,
-
the resurrected Savior. Hallelujah, He's my Messiah.
-
He's the anointed one. He's my Messiah.
-
Come on, let's go to the Lord and worship right now.
-
I love you Jesus. I love you Jesus.
-
Jesus, thank you for your grace. You came down God.
-
You reached down and found me. You came down my sin.
-
Then you watched and clipped.
