  1. I pray, oh, to be enamored by the presence of the Lord, the

  2. Lord. Oh yes, Jesus.

  3. Yes, Jesus. Hallelujah, someone say thank

  4. you, Jesus. Amen.

  5. You may be seated for a spell. You desire to tonight.

  6. Amen. Mike Penrod reached out

  7. yesterday, was asking if maybe he could get some help, maybe

  8. some from members here in the church.

  9. He has some trees that have been taken down on his property that

  10. need cut up and the quicker he gets them off his property and

  11. cut up, the quicker he can get permit, a building permit and

  12. such. So if you can help in any way,

  13. you can see him after this service and coordinate with him.

  14. He says I got 4 chainsaws, he just can't operate all four of

  15. them at the same time and such. So if you can help him whatever

  16. time of day or day of the week, whatever you coordinate that

  17. with, with Mike Penrod, he meant tonight and I'm sure he'll be

  18. appreciative of that. You can help him in that regard.

  19. Amen. Want to thank everybody for

  20. giving to the camp. Offering.

  21. We brought in some money and then we put a little bit more

  22. with it and we sent $500 off for camp.

  23. Also here just recently, we paid $768 for three students with

  24. fees in order to for graduation. We do that each year.

  25. We just pick those that may need some help with that, that can't

  26. get it by any other way or means without it being very taxing.

  27. Some of these kids are doing all this on their own without any

  28. parental support. They work a job in order to try

  29. to pay those fees and. And that that would be.

  30. Difficult. And so we try to help.

  31. We don't make no fanfare about it, we just do it.

  32. And the Lord keeps good records. The Lord keeps good records.

  33. Amen. Also this coming Sunday, and,

  34. and this is in preview of this coming week, but actually on

  35. Sunday is International Firefighters Day in celebration.

  36. We usually try to honor our firefighters here in the

  37. community. And so there's going to be food

  38. and such prepared for them and taken to them.

  39. But in previous years, people of this church have helped supply

  40. desserts for that. And so if you can.

  41. Supply a dessert. For that, you can bring it on

  42. Sunday. Make sure it's in some type of

  43. throwaway pan or dish so we don't have to, you know, put

  44. agps tracker on your dish. All right, so they can just go

  45. in the trash. But if you can do that, if you

  46. can help bring a dessert or offer dessert.

  47. If you have any questions concerning that you can see

  48. sister Angie Cruz or sister Sheila McGee and they can help

  49. you in that regard. But if you can help us, Amen.

  50. Serve people who serve us consistent consistently here

  51. within our community. I.

  52. Appreciate that everybody say tomorrow night, tomorrow night

  53. prayer here at the church. Prayer from 7:00 to 8:00.

  54. Come be a part of that and join your voices with other voices as

  55. we pray unto the Lord. The 11th of this month is

  56. Mother's Day. I say this month because this

  57. isn't really the last day of the month.

  58. Next month, I guess I should say.

  59. I'm already in. May all right, but it's Mother's

  60. Day camp registration. Then it's on the 12th, the

  61. actual time of. That of the day that's still

  62. forthcoming. The 23rd of May is game night.

  63. Starting at 7, kind of for the summer months of May, when I say

  64. summer months, those months that we're not in school.

  65. All right, let's state it like that.

  66. August is still a summer month, but somehow they move school.

  67. Up earlier and earlier. Compared to when I was a kid.

  68. And so you start in the month of August also.

  69. Then summer kick off Sunday, which is Sunday the 25th.

  70. That's Memorial Day weekend. And we want that to kind of have

  71. a feel like our chilly supper and fall event kind of kicking

  72. off the the nicer weather. I'm I'm crossing my fingers on

  73. that. And it's not till I came

  74. tonight, I realized that we're under a tornado watch tonight.

  75. I said, oh, not again so we can be watchers.

  76. All day. Just don't be.

  77. Warnings so we can sit here and watch all night.

  78. Praise God. No warnings so hope the weather

  79. is better again. June the 1st through the 4th.

  80. Sunday through Wednesday is revival of Adrian Sanford that

  81. will be right here. Adrian Sanford, Genesis.

    Genesis 16 chapter mention

  82. Chapter 16 if you'll stand. With me tonight, feel like I

  83. might make some friends tonight. I don't think I'll be real long.

  84. I took you in. Consideration.

  85. I'm not even finishing the whole chapter.

  86. Matter of fact, I got to a certain spot and I thought.

  87. If I continue this this is with another like chunk, it could be

  88. long. So I didn't.

  89. So we'll see or not whether or not I was very, very kind to you

  90. or just kind. Genesis chapter 16 I want to

    Genesis 16 chapter mention

  91. read the. First 3 verses and this, this is

  92. where we'll be tonight. The first 3 verses.

  93. All right, I don't know what it is, but that's what it is, the

  94. Bible says now. Sarah Abraham's wife.

  95. Bury him. No children.

  96. You've heard this before. She had a handmaid, an Egyptian

  97. whose name was Hagar. Sarah, I said to Abram.

  98. Behold, now the Lord hath. Restrained me from burying.

  99. I pray thee go in and to my maid.

  100. It may be that I may obtain children by her.

  101. The Abram hearken to the voice of Sarah.

  102. Sarah. Abraham's wife took.

  103. Hagar, my phone's thinking I'm saying Siri.

  104. Every time I say Sarah, it's popping up saying yes.

  105. Can I help you? Took Hagar, her maid.

  106. The Egyptian were in verse 3 after Abram had dwell 10 years

  107. in the land of Canaan and gave. Her to her.

  108. Husband Abram to be his. Wife.

  109. Amen. I'm going to prophetically say

  110. by faith, say. For a little while tonight.

  111. I want to speak to you on this subject.

  112. Navigating the process without losing the promise.

  113. Navigating the process without losing the promise let's.

  114. Ask God to help us. Father I thank.

  115. You Lord, one more. Time God for your spirit, for

  116. your anointing. I pray, O God, that you're able

  117. to help. Us, Lord, in this place open our

  118. mind, our understanding, give us wisdom and knowledge, but God

  119. give us revelation, enlightenment, the touch of the

  120. Holy Ghost Lord upon us tonight as we look at these scriptures

  121. in these verses. Let them speak life, let them

  122. give direction. Lord for our own lives, God for

  123. they are. No doubt applicable, Lord Jesus.

  124. For all of us, in the name of Jesus Christ, that I pray.

  125. Amen everyone. Say Amen, you may be.

  126. Seated tonight in Jesus name. We have looked at extensively

  127. already the promise that has been given to Abraham, Sarah,

  128. been given to them concerning a great nation, a land descendants

  129. of. People, and this is what I know

  130. not. Just from their story, but from.

  131. The stories that manifest themselves.

  132. In my own lives concerning promises, and that is sometimes

  133. there is pressure that comes with a promise that's not yet

  134. fulfilled. Pressure.

  135. Pressure the exact time that elapsed between the last

  136. chapter. Where the covenant was made.

  137. With Abram and God through. The the burning lamp.

  138. The smoke had moved. Through the divided pieces and

  139. what now happens? Here in chapter #16 the exact.

  140. Time frame of how much time went by we.

  141. We don't know. We don't know for sure.

  142. However, verse #3 does. State that.

  143. When this occurred, it occurred after Abram and they had been in

  144. Canaan for 10 years. And so if you'll remember, if

  145. you go back to Genesis chapter #12 Abram was originally

  146. promised this great nation which.

  147. Factors in both land and people. Before he ever.

  148. Left for Canaan. When he was still in urge how

  149. these that. Came to him so.

  150. We we have at least that period of time and now these 10 years.

  151. Of. Being in the land of.

  152. Canaan and still. Without certain aspects of the

  153. promise, it had been repeated to them over and over, right?

  154. The the covenant guaranteed their inheritance because Abram

  155. even asked the question. How shall I know that this Shall

  156. I this? Shall be my inheritance and then

  157. he does this whole covenant thing concerning that for his

  158. land. And if he was going to have land

  159. and if it was going to quote. UN quote be an inheritance, it

  160. was going to mean there need to be an offspring for to.

  161. To be inherited. So we have all this right here.

  162. And So what? What I believe sometimes we can

  163. do. And I've done and I'm guilty and

  164. Pastor McGee and I've done this. You know, we sit around in the

  165. chair and state our name and become part of this anonymous

  166. club. You know of of of having done

  167. this. But it's easy to criticize Abram

  168. and it's easy to criticize Sarai for what seems to be a very

  169. faithless compromise on their part with what what unfolds and

  170. entails here. In Genesis chapter #16.

  171. But whenever you really take everything that happened, you

  172. view it in the context. Of what happened?

  173. We also see through this that their actions, to a certain

  174. degree picture that there was a intense longing in them for

  175. wanting the. Promise to come to pass.

  176. We always focus on that. They shouldn't have done that.

  177. Bless God, yes, but there's also another aspect.

  178. The things that they did do was just showing that they wanted

  179. it, that they desired it. And I, I can connect with that.

  180. I'm a part of this fabric of of humanity.

  181. I can connect with that as when God speaks certain.

  182. Things I want to see that when he's.

  183. Given all the promises like he's given per SE to this church, I

  184. get weary in waiting because I desire that.

  185. I'm long for that. I want that.

  186. I mean, it's been 10 years, right?

  187. Abraham and Sarah. Could be it's been 10.

  188. Years since we've been in Canaan.

  189. Sarah or Sarah I or Sarah, however you want to call her.

  190. Watch it. She's been barren this whole

  191. time, but when we take all of that that it's been 10 years,

  192. she's bearing this whole time and we and we get just a little

  193. bit of understanding the culture there this day, we begin to

  194. understand that this could also just be a picture of their

  195. longing for what God. Was going to give to them.

  196. Again, if you will, remember the origin of Abram's call back in

  197. Genesis 12. It was this, he said.

  198. Get out of thy country from thy kindred right from your father's

  199. house and I will make of the a great nation was like

  200. conditional. In other words, I'll make of you

  201. a great nation if you get out bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom.

  202. The Bible says apron departed indication that he desired.

  203. I'll meet the condition because I desire the outcome.

  204. He desired it and historically, I know today this is a little

  205. peculiar to us, but historically it would have not been uncommon

  206. for a husband to release his wife if over 10 years.

  207. And that's just a being in Canaan.

  208. It's longer than that since their marriage.

  209. If Sarah hadn't born a child, any child.

  210. Particularly a son unto Abram. In their culture, if a woman

  211. wasn't giving birth to children, particularly a man child, many

  212. times she was released from her burden of being that man's wife.

  213. The Abram, he's not doing that. It's been this.

  214. Length of time. And he's still faithful to

  215. Sarah. Still faithful.

  216. What's that indicate to me, Sister Sheila?

  217. He desires it. He desires.

  218. The promise to happen. And also then culturally and

  219. this, this is the case with other Near Eastern texts that

  220. that reflect on this time period.

  221. It wasn't unusual for a wife to offer her maid to her husband.

  222. I know we ain't doing that today.

  223. Well, we ain't all doing. That all right, she would give

  224. that maid to her husband, especially if she wasn't having

  225. children. For one, that they might have a

  226. child, or even if they already had.

  227. Children for increasing. The number of children right?

  228. We. We.

  229. See that happen with Jacob? He takes the two handmaids right

  230. of Leah and his wife. Other ones escaped my name there

  231. for a moment, Rachel. And so they did that.

  232. So Hagar was given to Abram according to scripture, as a

  233. wife a a legal. Surrogate, if you will, or as

  234. some translations. Put it given to her him as a

  235. concubine and according to the era of that time, this is what

  236. we know sons of concubines or that type of relationship did

  237. not inherit unless the father adopted them as legal sons.

  238. So I'm saying perhaps they have this in mind as they're going

  239. forward with their activity, right?

  240. Here all. Right, we often read this story

  241. and we we begin to judge it as a compromise and I get to

  242. understand the end result. Overall arching thing is that it

  243. was incorrect and it was. But when you factor in all the

  244. cultural expectations, the emotional weight of what they

  245. had up on them, of the infertility, the pressure of a

  246. unfulfilled promise. It reached to me a little bit

  247. more like this was 2 human beings that were desperate for

  248. the promise of God. Not necessarily just outright

  249. rebellious, but desperate. Does God ever promised something

  250. to you? Because this is really kind of

  251. the way it. Happens.

  252. And you want to get your hand involved just to see it through,

  253. 'cause you desired it so much and you wanted it to be true.

  254. And it came from God. You know it's true, but you want

  255. it to be true quicker then later so that their their their

  256. attempted bring all this to pass by their human wisdom.

  257. Right. By by by all the cultural

  258. standards, trying to figure out the dynamics, you know, so that

  259. I've always said, you know, God, we could get this stuff.

  260. You just. Get over a little bit and let me

  261. help. You out, you know, we, we, we

  262. just do this. And they're not really trying to

  263. avoid the promise. They're trying to facilitate the

  264. promise before the covenant that God made with Abram.

  265. Genesis 15 and 4. Abram learned a little further

  266. details concerning the promise that whenever he said Eleazar in

  267. your own house, it's not going to be the one to inherit it, he

  268. said out of thine own bow shall. Thine a or be.

  269. It's going to come from your bowels, it's going to be of your

  270. seed and so whenever they start. Thinking if they were to.

  271. Start to think sister Sheila, well if I give my mate Hagar, if

  272. I give her and to Abram, that still will be a seed from.

  273. His. Bowels, huh?

  274. Maybe Sherry. I wasn't trying to replace God's

  275. plan, just trying to help. It alone just a.

  276. Little bit, you know, just have a little shortcut.

  277. I mean, would you like a shortcut to some of the promises

  278. in your life? But her short cut incorporated

  279. using the right father but just the wrong mother.

  280. They wanted this They. Wanted this and so the.

  281. Danger in these. Things and what happens is this,

  282. and we're not just talking about, oh, disobedience.

  283. Sometimes what it is is this. Misguided obedience.

  284. Misguided obedience. In the Old Testament scripture,

  285. we read of a story. Where Saul?

  286. Offered a burnt offering. I, I I made.

  287. Mention this not to me weeks ago it seems like the Saul made an.

  288. Offer to burnt offering. Unto the Lord, whenever Samuel

  289. the the prophet, the the priest, if you will, was.

  290. Delayed in arriving to do it on a particular day, he said.

  291. He said I'll be there on the 7th day.

  292. I believe it was. I'll be there on that day and

  293. I'll do it. It became that day.

  294. The people are getting nervous and that made Saul nervous.

  295. You know, it's like it's not happening yet, right?

  296. That's when we want to get. Involved.

  297. When we feel like it should have already happened, but it's not

  298. happened yet. And it's like, well, what can we

  299. do? And so Saul, he's really wanting

  300. to honor God. He's one to make the sacrifice

  301. before they go off, you know, into war.

  302. But he disobeyed the clear structure.

  303. Only the prophet, only the priest could offer the

  304. sacrifice. And so he thought.

  305. He thought that worship would justify the method.

  306. But what did God tell? Him, he said, obedience better

  307. than sacrifice. Aaron's sons, nay dab in the by

  308. who the Bible records, they offered strange or if you will

  309. unauthorized fire before the Lord, and the Bible says those

  310. two boys were consumed. They engaged offering fire.

  311. Amen. Is this form of worship?

  312. They offered worship, but not according to the divine pattern

  313. and structure. That God had had laid.

  314. Out and so whenever they did that and it was outside of God's

  315. design. It became dangerous.

  316. Amen. For sure, whenever worship's

  317. supposed to be spiritual and it's outside of God's, it

  318. becomes dangerous. And so sometimes we, we are

  319. doing the right thing, facilitating the promise, but

  320. we're out of alignment with God's specific instructions

  321. about timing, design, spirit. In other words, if we got to be

  322. careful not to take matters into our own hands concerning the

  323. promise he's given us, huh. A good desires that we have for

  324. the promise still got to submit to God's design.

  325. I want it to happen, but it's got to happen God's way and

  326. according to God's timing. Oh, that.

  327. Kills me. So they had the right, the right

  328. father. They had the wrong mother.

  329. Right, they're playing. They got him.

  330. Abram was going to be the man. It's going to be according.

  331. To his bowels even his heir would come.

  332. But they got the wrong mother. But here's the awesome thing

  333. about Scripture, especially historically.

  334. Faith comes from the mother. Faith comes from the Mother.

  335. You were not a Hebrew. Unless your mother was a Hebrew

  336. Hagar verse, one tells us, was. An Egyptian lineage, tribal

  337. identity, all those. Things are typically traced.

  338. Through the father for inherits reasons land rights tribal.

  339. Affiliation. All that was through the Father.

  340. But when you talked about spiritual identity or covenant

  341. status, things got a little bit more complex.

  342. Many times both parents. It was a necessitated.

  343. It was connected to both. When I say that fate comes from

  344. the mother, or the influence of that least comes from the

  345. mother. We have a few examples.

  346. Even the book of Ezra, chapters 9 through 10 we read of it.

    Ezra 9 chapter mention

  347. Also in Nehemiah. Nehemiah concentrates on this

  348. fact. That there were concerned.

  349. He'd come back. To Jerusalem after he left.

  350. For a point in time. And he noticed that there were

  351. some of. The Jewish people that were

  352. marrying foreign. Women.

  353. And he called them out on this aspect of of them having done.

  354. This and this. Is what the Bible?

  355. Says that he. Came to find his findings.

  356. Were when he got there and they had done this.

  357. He says. In there and this.

  358. Is in verse. 24 of Nehemiah 13. He says, and their children

  359. spake half in the speech. Of Ashdod and could not speak

  360. the Jews language he was. Point to the fact of a mother's

  361. influence in the life of a child, all right, that it messed

  362. with her identity and even their covenant faithfulness, because

  363. according into what type of mother that you had.

  364. He said if you. Choose a mother that is not a

  365. Hebrew. For these children, it'll have

  366. influence on the spiritual context of their life and the

  367. covenant context of their life. Amen.

  368. Not only that, Rabbinical law. Rabbinical law codifies what is

  369. known as the matrilineal identity, and it states this.

  370. If a Jewish or Hebrew woman was a child has a child with a

  371. gentile man, the child is Jewish.

  372. If a Jewish man has a child with a gentile woman, the child is

  373. not. Jewish faith is connected to the

  374. woman. So Ishmael, that child that's

  375. born of the union of Haggar and Abram, Ishmael cannot be the

  376. promised seed because he had the wrong mother.

  377. Let me say like this. It doesn't.

  378. And I say. This like gingerly.

  379. Here it doesn't. Matter who Your father.

  380. Is. If you don't have the right

  381. mother. Let's just.

  382. Transfer just a little bit. In a spiritual sense, many claim

  383. God as their father. There are generations and eons

  384. of people that claim God is their father, but you also have

  385. to have the right mother, the church.

  386. New Testament Scripture speaks of Jerusalem, even the New

  387. Jerusalem, even that thing, that entity that's known as the

  388. church, as being the motherly figure.

  389. It's a lot of people that's claiming God as their father,

  390. but they don't have the church as their mother.

  391. And if you don't have the church as your mother, you don't have a

  392. good transfer of faith. You have covenantal, you have

  393. covenantal issues. So we could really plunge in

  394. deep right here. There's a lot of teachings in

  395. the ideologies of Scripture that get mixed and muddled when you

  396. just claim and God is your father, but you don't have the

  397. right mother. Is it important?

  398. It is. It is important.

  399. You need the right mother. Galatians 4 verses 22 and 23.

    Galatians 4:22

  400. The Apostle Paul is writing about this whole.

  401. Scenario of Sarah and Hagar. Speaking of it as a allegory and

  402. such, and the Bible says in verse 22 of Galatians 4.

  403. For it is written that Abram had two sons.

  404. Yes, we know that to be Ishmael and Isaac as they'll come about

  405. the one by a bond maid meaning Hagar, and the other by a free

  406. woman meaning Sarah. But he who was of the bond woman

  407. was born after the flesh, But he of the free woman was by the

  408. promise. It matters who your Mama.

  409. Is. Amen.

  410. He who was of the bond woman was born after the flesh.

  411. There's another aspect to this statement as well.

  412. Abram was not circumcised when he had relations with Hagar.

  413. He was. Circumcised.

  414. When he had relations with Sarah, when Ishmael was

  415. conceived, that that thing that indicated his flesh had not yet

  416. been cut off. But before he conceived Isaac,

  417. circumcision had happened. Circumcision, which we'll get to

  418. in the next chapter, which was a sign of being God's covenant

  419. people. What you said, I say this, no

  420. spiritual children can be had until you do away with the

  421. flesh. We'll perhaps look at that more

  422. in the next chapter, but it takes the cutting off the

  423. severing away, if you will, of these sort of things.

  424. And so when we look at this, there's, there's a few, there's

  425. a few indices here in Scripture that that could have tipped

  426. Abram and Sarai off perhaps at, you know, the timing.

  427. Isn't right, timing isn't right, and one of those is.

  428. The blessing that was up on Adam and Eve.

  429. You remember this all the way back to.

  430. Genesis 1 was for multiplication reproduction.

  431. Same thing was spoken. After the flood with Noah.

  432. And his family for multiplication, for

  433. reproduction. Abram now is getting the words

  434. of great nation descendants. So on and so forth and so.

  435. Sarah must surmise, as she did in verse #2 she.

  436. Says then. The Lord hath restrained me.

  437. From. Bearing.

  438. And if God did, then we must. Subject ourselves to His plan.

  439. If you get the mindset, if God is all for the blessing of

  440. reproduction and multiplication and yet I'm not having a child,

  441. then he must be restraining me. I mean, if God is for and he's

  442. not allowing it, then he must be the one that has the hand on the

  443. dial, so to speak. He must be the one that is

  444. restraining me. And if he is, then I got to

  445. subject myself to the plan of God that it's not never, it's

  446. just not now. Oh, the hardest thing to deal

  447. with. A promise is a maybe.

  448. It's not never, just not now five years go by, it's not.

  449. Now 10 years go by, it's not. Now 15 years go by, it's not.

  450. And you remember some of the things that apron that was

  451. really promised to him. Were not things relieved for his

  452. enjoyment? As much as it was his

  453. descendants, I'm not trying to. I'm not trying to cause someone

  454. to be in in despair right now over the promise God-given.

  455. You know this ain't for me. Yeah, but your descendants will

  456. never be. Or enjoy if you're not a link to

  457. it. Amen.

  458. And so that should have tipped them off a little bit, because

  459. when we talk about faith, faith is more than just believing in

  460. the promise, trusting. The process.

  461. Trusting. The process.

  462. That he's going to bring. It to pass when it needs to be

  463. brought to pass because what we understand sometimes we

  464. separate, but what we understand we should understand is that

  465. both the. Promise and the process.

  466. Are God. Ordained.

  467. Sometimes we only think the promises.

  468. Ordained. And somebody's really messing.

  469. With this process, thank God, that might just all be.

  470. God. It's hard and it's hard.

  471. It's hard to wrestle with that concept or idea.

  472. But yes, it could just all be God later in Genesis. 21 and. 12

  473. God said through Isaac that Abram's seed would be called,

  474. states it plainly. God gets more detailed with his

  475. promise to Abraham. As they go along the process.

  476. In the beginning it's real vague, but he starts filling in

  477. some of the blanks of details as Abram.

  478. Goes through the process. He says plainly, through Isaac

  479. shall thy seed be called. And then later he would ask

  480. Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice.

  481. But the writer of Hebrews tells us in Hebrews 11 that Abram

  482. believed that God would even raise up Isaac from the dead if

  483. necessary. How in the world do you believe

  484. something like that? How in the world do you even

  485. think like something like that? Abram, Because Abram believed

  486. now at that point in time, later he believed in the promise of,

  487. of descendants, but he also got to a place where he trusted the

  488. process. We had our time accepting the

  489. process early on and they make some choices and decisions, but

  490. they're finally got a place in this journey.

  491. I believe the promise, but I also trust the process.

  492. So if you're going to take my boy on the altar, you'll raise

  493. him up because I know that the, it, it's going to happen.

  494. The promise is sure, the process, it may look jagged,

  495. unknown, uncertain, but I trust it because the same person that

  496. has his hand on the process has his hand on the originality of

  497. the promise. So we got to navigate, navigate.

  498. Amen. So.

  499. Who else we have with Joseph? There's a good one, right?

  500. Dreams of rulership. Dreams of.

  501. Prominence even among his. Family.

  502. In his young mind, these dreams betrayal, slavery.

  503. False accusation, prison, all of those things brought the dream

  504. to pass. And amid all that, the Bible

  505. constantly lets us know that Joseph.

  506. Remains faithful. Why?

  507. He believed in the dream, and he trusted the process.

  508. David anointed to be the next king when he's still just a

  509. youth, yet he spends years after that moment in time.

  510. He's running from Saul, he's living in caves, he's facing

  511. betrayal. And even when David had sister

  512. Melinda the opportunity to kill Saul, take him out.

  513. Shortcut, shortcut. I know what God already wants.

  514. He wants me to be the next king. What a better shortcut than

  515. eliminating the former king straight to the throne room,

  516. honey. Shortcut that when he had

  517. opportunity to do it, he didn't. He refused the shortcut.

  518. He refused to shortcut the process because God's timing

  519. mattered just as much as the promise.

  520. Secondly. This whole thing should have.

  521. Sounded a little strangely familiar to Abram and Sarai.

  522. This should have sounded familiar to the foundational.

  523. Oops, in the garden. Let's.

  524. Let me reread Genesis 16 and I'm going to skip around a little

  525. bit, but verses 2 and 3. Are we doing?

  526. Oh, I'm still doing OK. I'm not lying yet.

  527. Genesis 16, verses 22. 3 And I'm skipping around a little bit in

  528. this, these verses and listen to these, just close your eyes for

  529. a moment and just listen to these, will you?

  530. And Sarai said, I pray thee, go in unto my maid.

  531. It may be that I may obtain children by her and Abram.

  532. Hearken to the. Voice of Sarai and.

  533. Sarai, Abram's wife, took. Hagar her maid and gave her to

  534. her husband Abram to be his wife.

  535. Now watch this Genesis 3/6 And when the woman saw that the tree

  536. was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and

  537. the tree to be desired to make one wine, she took of the fruit

  538. thereof, did eat, and gave also unto her husband, and he did

  539. eat. There's a lot of similarity

  540. happened right there. Abram listened and heeded.

  541. To what Sarai said. Adam listened and heeded to

  542. what? Eve said.

  543. And there's a dangerous pattern to be followed here.

  544. Adam partook of the fruit. It was a mistake.

  545. Abram I don't. Want to use the word partake

  546. but. Abram lay with Hagar.

  547. And it. Was not what God?

  548. Had in mind concerning the promised seed?

  549. Adam hearken to the voice of his wife.

  550. Abram hearken to the voice of his wife.

  551. And there were consequences in both both men.

  552. And you say, well, brother McGee, are you are you endorsed

  553. him, Brother McGee. That means a male in the

  554. leadership of my family that I don't have to listen to my wife.

  555. No, that's not what I'm telling you.

  556. I'm telling you. They put too much stock.

  557. In human. Counsel over godly counsel, all

  558. right. So, men, don't be going home and

  559. putting that scripture on your refrigerator.

  560. There you go. He's a hen Peck.

  561. I just so happen to like the hen that doing the Peck and they say

  562. well never mind. Here's what I'm look at.

  563. He says you have any tree in the garden.

  564. Except that in the midst of knowledge of good.

  565. And evil. We see later in the scripture.

  566. Of Genesis 322. That God even omits.

  567. Had they done that, he said they'd be like he said me.

  568. God possessed the knowledge of good.

  569. And Evil Bob doesn't even say that that knowledge.

  570. Was evil just the knowledge? Of good and evil, but acquiring

  571. it. Through disobedience would have

  572. been incorrect. Follow me here in Hebrews.

  573. Chapter #5 and verse 14 the Bible states this, these words

  574. in this verse, but strong meat belongeth to them that are full

  575. age right? Saying you're not going to give,

  576. you know, a stake to a 2 month old.

  577. It's those of maturity, even those who by reason of use, have

  578. their. Senses exercised to deserve

  579. them, both good and evil. This scripture follow me this.

  580. Scripture shows us that maturity or maturity.

  581. Is. Tied to discerning good and

  582. evil. This is just a Could it be with

  583. Pastor McGee? Hey, that rhymes.

  584. Could it be that God intended for Adam and Eve to grow in such

  585. maturity? With him, by walking with him

  586. and learning his ways that. The knowledge of good and.

  587. Evil was to be learned gradually by them from him.

  588. Rather than. Season it in a moment from the

  589. tree. What does that boil down to?

  590. Then process. Process because there's some

  591. things at certain stages of your journey you're not mature enough

  592. to handle. That's.

  593. So true. Even promises that it takes a

  594. little bit more maturity and walking with God for you to be

  595. able. To really process and hold on to

  596. it correctly. Process matters as much as the

  597. knowledge. So we serve, undoubtedly, yes,

  598. we serve a God that makes. Promises, but God also ordains

  599. process. And whether it's stated or, it's

  600. like the fine print at the bottom of the document every.

  601. Process. Every promise comes with some

  602. sort of process. But too often we're like the

  603. Abram and we're like the Sarai, right?

  604. We believe in the promise, but we're trying to help him.

  605. Manufacture the outcome. I say I trust God.

  606. I trust you God. I trust you, God.

  607. And then we start to operate on our own timeline.

  608. We cling to His word, I cling to His word, but sometimes we act

  609. like his methods need our management.

  610. No, but I'm not talking to anybody in this church tonight.

  611. Ain't nobody. Here I'm talking about what it

  612. reminds me of, what this whole story reminds me of.

  613. Just three verses of this. Story.

  614. What it reminds me of is this is that I can have the right desire

  615. but the wrong delivery, right father, but Hagar was the wrong

  616. mother of the promise. I can.

  617. I want to facilitate but sometimes me want to facilitate.

  618. Is just frustrating the total outcome.

  619. So. Did they have it?

  620. They desired it, they wanted it, yes, I agree with that 100%.

  621. It may not just been blatant rebellion.

  622. They wanted it. It was just misguided obedience.

  623. And whether it's unauthorized fire, whether it's building

  624. calves in the wilderness, you know.

  625. To the Lord, the Bible even says.

  626. Whatever it is. We got to you there.

  627. There's ability. Where you can worship.

  628. God. In, in, in, in the.

  629. Wrong way. Does that make sense?

  630. Who was it? Jeroboam.

  631. He made 2 gold, he made 2. Golden.

  632. Calves and Dan One and Beersheba.

  633. The Bible says he. Did that for the convenience of

  634. the children. Of Israel so they wouldn't have

  635. to travel all the way to. Jerusalem and have to travel.

  636. All the way to Jerusalem worship, yes, but number one,

  637. wrong way, wrong place. Right.

  638. And so. I am absolutely.

  639. I'm absolutely. Convinced that there are there

  640. are sincere. People all in the world.

  641. They're sincere. People all over the world.

  642. Right. Their hearts are sincere.

  643. But no matter how much. Sincerity there is our shortcuts

  644. are still not sanctified. So fate doesn't just merely wait

  645. on the on the promise. It also walks in according to

  646. the promise. If you're staying with me

  647. tonight, see I'm doing good. I held, I kept my.

  648. Promise. And that was the.

  649. Process. God, don't you know God?

  650. Understood that whenever he promised Abram what he promised,

  651. he knew the womb was buried. He knew that.

  652. He knew that. So he's not really after a human

  653. solution, He's just after their trust.

  654. So as we close tonight, I just got a few little, little bullet.

  655. Points here as we close to help us along.

  656. The way as we're navigating. This, this promise and this.

  657. Process everybody say stop, stop.

  658. Trying to manufacture the promise through fleshly means.

  659. God doesn't need your help. He needs your faith.

  660. The flesh will always. Produce a Ishmael only faith can

  661. bring forth in. Isaac so stop trying to do it #2

  662. submit your desire to God's design, huh?

  663. We even got to. Take our good intentions, we got

  664. to filter it through the divine. Instruction of the Lord, huh?

  665. Because what you may want it may be absolutely right, but.

  666. How and when you pursue it, that's still got to be under his

  667. submission. How that takes place you got to

  668. discern to listen to the voice of God among all the voices that

  669. are in the world Eve right say right and all the how good they

  670. sound instruction wise, we got to have an ear to the voice of

  671. the Lord above all others and this is the last big one.

  672. It's the one that gets me at my gizzard.

  673. We got to learn to wait well. I'm going home now.

  674. We got to learn. To wait, well, keep walking.

  675. Keep worshiping Abraham. Keep, keep, keep.

  676. Exploring the areas of the. Promise keep obeying because.

  677. Whenever you have a promise and it's without God's process, you

  678. still are going to have a flesh born outcome.

  679. They go together. They go together.

  680. Sometimes don't look like they fit.

  681. It's like finding that piece, I said.

  682. I don't think that puzzle piece really fits their.

  683. Site and you start. Pushing on it, you know what it

  684. does? It's just like an optical

  685. illusion. It just didn't think it, really.

  686. Fit, but it does. Your process fits your promise.

  687. Your process. It's your promise.

  688. Hallelujah. Let's go to the Lord in.

  689. Prayer right now I saved you all.

  690. Amen. God, I need you tonight.

  691. God, I'm in this. Life and there has.

  692. Been spoken to us collectively. And to many of us individually.

  693. God promises into our life God. They've come by the word of God.

  694. They've come, Lord, through a prophet.

  695. Or. Or someone Lord speaking

  696. something in our. Ear that identified with our.

  697. Soul and spirit about something. Perhaps in the future.

  698. Lord a promise God. But sometimes we get weary.

  699. In the waiting. God, we desire it.

  700. We. Want it?

  701. But there's the. Pressure of an unfulfilled.

  702. Promise in our life that. That drives us to seek out.

  703. Answers and drives us to. Seek out ways for the

  704. materializing of that which has. And spoken.

  705. I pray, O God, help us, O Lord, to subject ourselves to your

  706. timing. Help us, O God, to subject

  707. ourselves to your plan and your process.

  708. They're not working against each other.

  709. They're working in tandem. They're working with one

  710. another. Help me, O Lord, to mature and

  711. grow and Lord, find the stage pre adventure in the future that

  712. I would be at a eager place God and a place the Lord in

  713. maturity, God, where I can accept.

  714. Got something that maybe you said 10 years ago, 15 years ago,

  715. 20 years ago. Help me, O Lord, to derive Lord

  716. that maturity God from you. Help me God not to be idle.

  717. Help me Lord still to go forward and pursue and and walk the path

  718. that you've shine light upon Lord and and scratch off Lord

  719. the details Lord that you share along the jury that become more

  720. detailed as I go along the way. But God help me to navigate.

  721. Help me Lord not to act prematurely or just be searching

  722. for a shortcut. God is something that has an

  723. outcome that is not really Lord Jesus, what you prescribed for

  724. me. Help me, O Lord, today, God, to

  725. give you glory, praise and have faith and trust, Lord Jesus, the

  726. path and the trajectory, Lord, of every promise that's spoken

  727. in my life, in the life of this assembly and will give you all

  728. the glory and the honor for it in the name of Jesus Christ that

  729. I pray Hallelujah and Amen. The church say Amen.

  730. Amen. God bless you.

  731. That was just three verses, folks, so we couldn't.

  732. Have done it, God bless you. Amen.

  733. OK, tomorrow night prayer. Don't forget that tomorrow

  734. night. Prayer if you can help, Mike.

  735. Penrod with cutting up trees. That are on his property, talk

  736. to him. About it, all right, About

  737. coordinating with him and also desserts for firemen on Sunday.

  738. You got questions or you want to let them know that you're going

  739. to be bringing something that might even be a nice courtesy so

  740. that they know what's coming. Talk to Sister Angie and Sister

  741. Sheila about that Throw away dishes.

  742. OK. All right.

  743. Mother's Day.
