Go to the scripture of Second Samuel 19.
-
I know it's been mentioned more than once, but this is Pentecost
-
Sunday. But, and that's true, but in my
-
ministry world today, it's Mephibosheth Sunday.
-
All right, Second Samuel, chapter 19.
2 Samuel 19 chapter mention
-
Some of you that don't even know who Mephibosheth is, is saying,
-
what in the world is he talking about?
-
So you read the book of Second Samuel, you'll get a good, a
-
good taste for it. Second Samuel 19 and I'm going
-
to read a few verses of Scripture tonight.
-
I know a lot of times we just give you a little snippet, but
-
I'm going to read a few verses this evening if that is OK.
-
If it's not, I'm still going to do it.
-
And the Bible says some verse 24.
-
And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, had
-
neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed
-
his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he
-
came again in peace. It came to pass when he was come
-
to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him,
-
Wherefore went this not thou with me, Mephibosheth?
-
And he answered, My Lord, O king, my servant deceived me.
-
For thy servant said, I will saddle me in the ass, and I may
-
that I may ride there on and go to the king, because thy servant
-
is lame, he saith, and he hath rather slandered thy servant
-
unto my Lord the King. But my Lord the King is as an
-
Angel of God. Do therefore what is good in
-
thine eyes. For all of my father's house
-
were but dead men before my Lord the King.
-
Yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine
-
own table? What right therefore have I yet
-
to cry anymore into the king? The king said unto him, Why
-
speakest thou anymore of thy matter?
-
I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.
-
And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yeah, let him take all,
-
for as much as my Lord the king has come again in peace unto his
-
own house. We'll look at it tonight.
-
But whenever Mid FIBA chef was once introduced to the King's
-
table, there was some things given back to him of the House
-
of Saul land to a great degree. We see that land transfer from
-
Mephibosheth's hands to Ziba hands and now it being split
-
almost like a compromise between both.
-
And so I want to minister just a little while on this tonight.
-
The King's return is enough. The King's return is enough.
-
Let's ask the Lord to help us the next little while.
-
Father, I need you got to thank you, Lord, for your people that
-
have been diligent all this week and faithful Lord, to your
-
house, God to come and worship and sing and Lord be
-
participants, the Lord in the ministry of the word.
-
I pray God, you'd strengthen their minds, their hearts, their
-
bodies. Pray God for your anointing.
-
God upon my lips of clay tonight, God, touch me one more
-
time. Touch my voice, the Lord
-
tonight, God, as I the Lord share this word, Lord, with your
-
people. God will thank you and will
-
praise you, Lord, for what you accomplished in this place.
-
In the name of Jesus Christ that I pray, Amen and Amen.
-
And you may be seated tonight in Jesus name.
-
In order to appreciate Mephibosheth's interaction with
-
King David at this particular juncture in the story, it's
-
important to understand Mephibosheth's back story to
-
appreciate this. When David initially sought out
-
Mephibosheth, he was, in essence, royalty that was living
-
beneath his privileges. Mephibosheth lived like a broken
-
fugitive in a place called Lodobar.
-
No land, no legacy he had. He was a mirror, and I say this
-
respectfully, but he was a mere cripple that was just scraping
-
out his existence amid bareness, believing that he deserved
-
nothing better. A few moments though, in David's
-
presence changed everything for Mephibosheth's life.
-
In addition to getting a place at the King's table, David said
-
I will restore the all the land of Saul, thy father, which was
-
in reality his grandfather. He got a restoration of
-
inheritance, not just a seat at the table.
-
Everything that his lineage had lost, the king restored.
-
As a matter of fact, I think it can be the reality of every
-
modern day individual that's been crippled by a fall.
-
Even today, some of us have family trees that are littered
-
with failure and with addiction and with trauma, and that has
-
left us, some of us, bewildered and on the backside of nowhere.
-
Similar to Mephibosheth. We don't believe we deserve
-
anything better because we've been handed a subpar legacy by
-
our forefathers and all those that went before us.
-
And we deem ourselves in, in a sense, as cripples.
-
No shape to approach the King, but I think it's important
-
tonight to understand that the King is seeking you out.
-
Someone say, mean a little time spent in his presence can change
-
your location, change your status, change your future.
-
In essence, what sin took, grace can restore.
-
Amen. Because grace has the ability of
-
not just forgiving us of our past, but it also can restore to
-
us what we had forfeited in our past.
-
The apostle Peter was a great spokesperson in the New
-
Testament for Jesus Christ. He was notably a leader among
-
the other. 12 He was tenacious in his spirit.
-
But after everything that took place at Gethsemane and the
-
activity that took place there. The Bible describes the apostle
-
Peter as following Jesus from a distance or from afar, and it is
-
recorded in Scripture that he denies that he has any
-
association with the Lord three times, whether he's himself by a
-
fire, whether someone interjects something and says, aren't you
-
one of those Galileans? He denies his association with
-
the Lord of three times. He was forfeiting, if you will,
-
what he felt like was his calling.
-
But after the resurrection, Jesus shows up on the scene
-
within the life of the Apostle Peter and he not only forgives
-
him but reinstates him with this command.
-
Feed my sheep. What he had lost, he is now
-
regaining. We read in the Old Testament
-
that Naomi is trusting her husband and leaves a famine
-
stricken Bethlehem Judah for a 10 year stint of time.
-
While there she loses her husband, she loses her two boys.
-
She says that whenever she left her home that she left full, but
-
when she returns back there, she's returning home empty.
-
Moab has taken much from her, more than just persons, but a
-
zeal, Amen, a zeal, Amen and a legacy that she once had.
-
She wants the natives as she's returning to Bethlehem, Judah,
-
She says, don't call me Naomi anymore.
-
Call me Mara because I'm bitter. I I feel like I've been dealt
-
with bitterly. So call me Mara.
-
But by the end of the book of Ruth, the Bible tells us clearly
-
that grace had given Naomi a grandson and a rich legacy
-
through Ruth that led all the way to Jesus Christ.
-
Grace can restore what we lost Samson in his lifetime of the
-
book of Judges. He betrayed A Nazarite vow that
-
was a on his life. And as a result of that, he's
-
blinded, he's imprisoned, he's made a mockery of among his
-
enemies. But in his final moments, the
-
Bible says, as his hair begins to grow back, he's standing
-
there and he's crying out to God and praying.
-
God, give me strength one more time.
-
And God grants it in so much that the Bible says the dead
-
which he slew at his death were more than which he slew in his
-
life. Can I tell you that with God,
-
He's a restorative God, and your last chapter can be stronger
-
than your failure even in weakness.
-
Grace gave Samson one more victory in addition to the
-
restoration. We're looking at Mephibosheth
-
here this evening. He not only got the land that
-
was restored, but the Bible tells us that Mephibosheth
-
received provision. Amen.
-
Without having to labor for it himself.
-
The Bible says that David set up Saul's servant Ziba and his sons
-
and the people that were committed under his care to till
-
the land for Mephibosheth to bring in the fruits for
-
Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth is a cripple.
-
He's lame in his feet. He could not work the land even
-
if he wanted to. But grace allowed him to reap
-
where he didn't even sow Amen. They bowed over their backs.
-
Amen. Ziba and his fifteen sons and
-
his 20 servants, ensuring that there would be a harvest that
-
would continue to flow for Mephibosheth.
-
And so God was providing grace, even through others, for
-
Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth was one of the
-
King's grandsons. Amen.
-
But David has him eating at his table as one of the King's sons.
-
Mephibosheth is the Old Testament rags to riches story.
-
He went from nothing to something from nowhere to
-
somewhere from an outcast as it were, to royalty again.
-
Grace adopted him back in the family, so much so that the
-
Bible says in Second Samuel 913. So Mephibosheth dewelt in
-
Jerusalem. For he did eat continually at
-
the King's table and was laying on both his feet.
-
Please note this was a A1 off with a meal.
-
This wasn't a one time invitation, but he continually
-
went to the King's table. Hey man, he ate there
-
continually. And almost as a side note at the
-
end of the sentence as and he was laying on both his feet.
-
Now that last phrase is important and it's a great
-
preaching point that most preachers preach all the time as
-
you see as a highlight. And that is different from the
-
New Testament where they would lay down and their feet would be
-
sticking out away from the table during the time of the kings.
-
And even in Hebrew culture they had low setting tables and OFT
-
times their feet were found underneath.
-
Just as we would sit at a table today, so Mephibosheth lameness
-
is covered by the table. Amen that he's been invited to.
-
I think it's important tonight to understand that his
-
brokenness didn't get fixed, but it did get covered.
-
All of these perks that he's getting at the hand of David the
-
king. He's been loaded down with
-
benefits, land restored, eating at the table of the king.
-
Amen has Amen, the very thing that he might be conscious of
-
and feel a little indifferent about.
-
Amen under the table of the king because he's accepted the
-
invitation of the king. If he had a list of check boxes,
-
all of them are being toggled. All of them are being checked
-
off. He's a blessed man.
-
Look at all of the perks of Mephibosheth.
-
That's why, in our text, David is confused.
-
That's why whenever David's own son Absalom is seeking to have
-
his throne, seeking to usurp his father's authority, and David
-
left Jerusalem, there's all sorts of people that's coming
-
alongside David as he's leaving, some leaving with him, some at
-
least taking him to the the brink of the Jordan.
-
And now David Mephibosheth, I restored his land.
-
I gave him a seat at the table. I brought him from nowhere to
-
somewhere. I've done all of these wondrous
-
things for Mephibosheth and when I was going through one of the
-
darkest hours of my own time, he was nowhere to be found.
-
He wasn't there alongside me. He didn't make the trip with me.
-
Where are you, Mephibosheth? David could even begin to argue
-
in his mind. Amen.
-
Where anybody that would listen. He said.
-
I had people that went with me, such as the man it Thai, the get
-
tight who is a Philistine from God.
-
The Bible says that it Thai had just newly aligned himself with
-
David. Did you understand he's a
-
Philistine that's often an enemy of Israel, a enemy of David.
-
David says I even had Itai that came alongside with me and he
-
vowed his Allegiant to allegiance to me.
-
And so David David even told Itai he says, hey, you don't
-
need to go. You're a Philistine.
-
You just even got here just yesterday.
-
Why go with me? But Itai's response was this.
-
In Second Samuel 1521, he said, As the Lord liveth, and as my,
-
the Lord the king live, surely in what place my Lord the king
-
shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy
-
servant be. Here is Itai.
-
He is a stranger. He is at most along the heap of
-
enemies. That would have been against
-
David. But Itai proves that loyalty
-
doesn't require a long history. Amen.
-
But we don't have a Mephibosheth.
-
You must understand it. Dies presence cast a greater
-
shadow on Mephibosheth's absence.
-
The Bible again describes that it.
-
I just joined the force yesterday.
-
If that's to be taken literally or figuratively, I don't know.
-
But Mephibosheth has been sitting at the table of the
-
king, reaping the benefits of his restoration, according to
-
Scripture, for about 25 to 30 years at this point.
-
So I got someone who's usually with my enemies that showed up
-
yesterday that's willing to make the trip with me and I got a
-
boy. I've showed every bed of
-
kindness I could show to and have for 25 to 30 years and he's
-
nowhere to be found. The Bible even says just give me
-
a moment here tonight. The Bible even says the show by
-
and Makir, and let me just Shobi is an Ammonite Makkir.
-
That should sound familiar because whenever David as Zyba,
-
is there anybody left I can show kindness to?
-
He said, yeah, there's one in the House of Makkir, the son of
-
Amiel in Lodibar. In other words, this is the same
-
man who previously sheltered Mephibosheth and he made the
-
trip and he said there's Barzilai, who, if you read
-
Scripture, was a very, very elderly man, a elderly
-
Gileadite. And now all of these three, an
-
Ammonite, mind you, again, which is historically an enemy of
-
Israel, shows up. A man who housed Mephibosheth
-
shows up, and now an elderly man shows up.
-
They're bringing beds, they're bringing food, they're bringing
-
supplies across the Jordan. But no Mephibosheth Bishop.
-
And so, in Second Samuel 1926, when Mephibosheth finally
-
appears before King David, after Absalom has already started his
-
rebellion, the Bible describes Mephibosheth.
-
His appearance is unkempt. No, no, no trimming of the
-
beard, no washing of his clothes indicating a clear picture of a
-
man that's in mourning because the king hasn't been around.
-
And David begins to question him about why didn't you come alone?
-
Why when it when, when individuals of enemy forces
-
showed up, why didn't you show up?
-
When, when, when you've been sitting at the table for 25 and
-
30 years and I've lavished everything I've known up on you,
-
You didn't show up. He's he's, he's questioning him
-
about all of this. And what pours out of
-
Mephibosheth, Mind you, it's not just an explanation, but it's
-
really the glimpse into a wounded heart that was still
-
loyal. Mephibosheth essentially says,
-
David, I know what you're saying, and I understand a
-
little bit where you're coming from, but I'm still living in
-
the shadow of something that happened long ago in my past.
-
I'm lame. And David, I wanted to go with
-
you, but my own weakness held me back.
-
And the one that I trusted to help Cyber, that servant, the
-
one that I trusted to help, he left me without taking me.
-
He didn't saddle a donkey on me. He didn't lift me up on that.
-
Don't don't get me wrong David, I'm not making excuses, I'm just
-
letting you know I've longed for you the whole time you've been
-
gone and my heart wanted to go where my crippled feet just
-
could not carry me. Because the deception of Ziba is
-
real. Imagine being in Zyba shoes.
-
Imagine the resentment that could have built up over 25 to
-
30 years as he and his sons and his servants has formed
-
Mephibosheth's land for him, brought in the goods and the
-
harvest for him, that old cripple.
-
Someone say man. For that matter, whenever David
-
initially asked, is there any sons of Saul?
-
You know, again, you can go back to Second Samuel 9 and verse 3
-
where that question is asked. Ziba says yes, but he didn't
-
leave it as though, yeah, there's still a son left.
-
He had to throw something else in, he said, but he's lame, as
-
though his lameness to disqualify him from David's
-
kindness. Cyber even takes it up a notch.
-
He wants it to make it look like in the eyes of David, that
-
Mephibosheth is disloyal and Mephibosheth is unthankful.
-
Let me read some more scripture. Second Samuel 16, verse one.
-
This is the deception of Ziba as David is leaving Jerusalem.
-
He's he's topping the Mount of Olives.
-
He's going to cross the Jordan because of the rebellion of his
-
son. And the Bible says, And when
-
David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Zibah, the
-
servant of Mephibosheth, met him with a couple asses saddled and
-
up on them 200 loaves of bread and 100 bunches of raisins, and
-
100 of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
-
And the king said, And the Zibah, what meanest thou by
-
these? And Zibah said, the asses be for
-
the King's household. Look at this, look, look at
-
everything that I've done for you, king.
-
I showed up, Mephibosheth. But look at everything I've done
-
for you, the asses before the King's household to ride on the
-
bread and the summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the
-
wine that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink it.
-
Because I know you're going to crossover, Jordan, you're going
-
to enter the wilderness, you're going to need this.
-
I've thought ahead and verse 3 And the king said, and where is
-
thy master, son? He's referring to Mephibosheth.
-
And Zybush said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem.
-
For he said, Today shall the House of Israel restore me the
-
Kingdom of my father? Ziba is trying to make it seem
-
that Mephibosheth is more interested in the Kingdom than
-
he is the king. He covers Mephibosheth in such a
-
way that all the restoration that David is given, all the
-
land that he has restored, the status that he's placed upon his
-
life, all the kindness that he has shown, he's covering
-
Mephibosheth in such a way that David, everything that you've
-
done isn't good enough. Verse 4 says, then said the king
-
to Ziba, behold thine are all that pertained unto
-
Mephibosheth. Look at this.
-
Now what happened, Fred? Mephibosheth had it whenever he
-
came, but now he's saying, as a result of all this, I'm
-
transferring what was his and I'm giving it to you, Ziba.
-
And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I might find grace in
-
thy sight, my Lord, O king. So here is David.
-
He's taken everything that was Mephibosheth and he's
-
transferring it over to Ziba. It was Mephibosheth, but now it
-
is Ziba's. And Ziba's probably thinking in
-
the back of his mind, success. I did it.
-
It should have belonged to me. For the past 25 years, I'm the
-
one that deals the land. I'm the one that works the land.
-
I'm the one that plants the seed.
-
I'm the one with the long hours harvesting the land for years,
-
everybody doing all right. Do you understand the scope of
-
this land? The land in question, the Bible
-
says was all the land of Saul likely held.
-
Royal lands that was for agriculture, royal lands for
-
provision. Because this was customary for
-
ancient kings. He had family lands that he
-
inherited through others that were part of the tribe of
-
Benjamin because it would never leave the tribe.
-
It would stay with the tribe. He had strategic property, no
-
doubt around about Gibeah, which was his hometown and his seat of
-
of rule. There's a possibility through
-
the wars and the battles that he thought that he had even
-
confiscated some lands and tributes that he ruled.
-
And now we know that all of this belongs to Ziba.
-
We know it was enough land that it supported Mephibosheth, Ziba,
-
his fifteen sons, and his 20 servants.
-
I'm talking about multiple fields, multiple vineyards,
-
multiple if you will, possibly even livestock.
-
And now it's all given to Ziba. Someone say man.
-
So as Mephibosheth informs David, he tells him, David, I've
-
been slandered. I've been slandered by Ziba.
-
I know you've heard his story. I'm just telling you I've been
-
slandered by Ziba and David. Here's what I got to say.
-
You're like the Angel of the Lord, he says.
-
You just do whatever you believe is right.
-
You just do whatever you believe is honorable because I
-
understand my position, David. I understand.
-
I don't have a leg to stand on. I I don't have any right to
-
complain. When you found me, I was in Loda
-
Bar. I don't have no right to lift up
-
my voice in in contesting. Hey man, this switching, if you
-
will, of lands. When you found me, I was in a
-
barren, desolate place. Just a cripple eking out my
-
life. I have not a leg to stand on.
-
I was a nobody from nowhere. And you gave me a chance.
-
So. So you just do what's right in
-
your sight, David. And so David, Amen.
-
David, it's summertime or almost Amen.
-
David tries then to resolve the issue, and he proposes them a
-
little split. He says, I tell you what we'll
-
do. We'll give all of the lamb that
-
was Mephibosheth, that became all the lamb that became Zibas,
-
that used to be King Saul's. We'll now just split it right
-
down the middle. And we'll give half to
-
Mephibosheth and we'll give half to Ziba.
-
And that will be good half for one and the other half for the
-
other. I'll just make a little
-
compromise gesture here between them and but the Bible says in
-
verse thirty of our text and Mephibosheth said unto the king,
-
yay, let him Speaking of cyber, let him take all for as much as
-
my Lord the King is come again in peace unto his own house.
-
You know what Mephibosheth is saying, His heart is right where
-
his heart needs to be. Mephibosheth is telling David, I
-
don't care about the property. I don't care about the
-
restoration of everything that was my dad's.
-
I don't care that I I partook of some of that over the past 25
-
years and 30 years. I don't care about all the perks
-
that came to me. I don't care about all of the
-
things that you're giving and all the kindnesses, he says.
-
There's only one thing I'm concerned about.
-
It's not riches, it's not lands, it's not blessings, it's not
-
gift. But as long as I know the king
-
is back, as long as I, he says all of the gifts and the riches
-
and the kindness pales in comparison to having the king.
-
Because the gift came from the king, the restoration of the
-
land came from the king, the kindness came from the king.
-
I could have all of that and not have the king and never have
-
another thing. But if I got the king, I have
-
access to riches. If I got the king I have.
-
I don't care about the land. I don't care about how many
-
bushels it produces. I realized, David, I was a dead
-
man without the king when you found me.
-
And I understand that the King's table is worth more than all of
-
the fields and all of the fields of the world.
-
I'm just glad the King's here. I'm satisfied with the King's
-
presence. Sometimes we're grappling for
-
what God can do for us than the God that does it.
-
Look at all the perks, yes, but look where they come from.
-
Fibber Chef, he says, really, all this restoration stuff isn't
-
about getting things back, it's just about getting the king
-
back. You can take everything, but
-
just give me the king. His attitude is I'm a cripple.
-
I may always be a cripple, but even if you told me that I could
-
have a field and not be crippled, I'd rather be a
-
cripple in the palace and still have the king.
-
I'm just glad that I have his presence.
-
I don't need what I've lost. I just need what I've been
-
longing for, what I've been missing, the reason why I unkept
-
myself. There's been a longing and a
-
desire. I had the land while you was
-
gone. I had the riches while you were
-
gone. I know the servants while you
-
gone. But what I needed was the king.
-
And they'll subtract that line of blessing and that line of
-
blessing and that line of blessing.
-
But when all the subtraction has taken place, if the net value
-
still adds up to him, if the net value still adds up to him,
-
that's sufficient. But if you just based upon
-
everything you can get from his hand rather than getting the one
-
who owns the hand, then you got the misconception.
-
You need the Lord, you need his presence.
-
Nothing compares to that Bible talks about in the Old Testament
-
with the allotments of lamb that was given to the tribes of
-
Israel. That whenever it came to the
-
Levites in particular, the Bible says that they were denied any
-
allocation of land, any any physical inheritance as it were.
-
Because the Lord says these words, He says I'll be your
-
portion, while others are being given this portion of land and
-
the boundaries being described as it often is in the Old
-
Testament about that tribe, and they get in that allocation of
-
land. You're not reading any of that
-
for the tribe of Levi because the Lord is, suffice to say to
-
them, I am your portion. They may not have got property
-
per SE that they could call absolutely their own, but they
-
got His presence, they got Him, they got the King of Glory.
-
Honey, you don't have to outline what's coming to me.
-
Just let it outline with a circle about about him.
-
Just let it outline the circle about the Creator, the great
-
giver, the Almighty God, the everlasting Father.
-
If I could just raise my voice and sing the song, Give me
-
Jesus, give me Jesus, give me Jesus Jesus.
-
Jesus is hard teaching in New Testament scripture.
-
The Bible describes that many of the followers left, but the
-
disciples stay not because of the benefits, but because of
-
Jesus. Note what the Scripture says.
-
John 667 then said, Jesus and to the 12 will ye also go away?
-
That tenacious Simon lifts his voice and Peter answered him.
-
Lord, and the next two words are important.
-
To whom it wasn't. Where should we go?
-
The subject wasn't aware or what it was a whom it wasn't.
-
But Lord, what about the land? It wasn't.
-
Lord. What about the finances, Lord?
-
What about my servants, Lord? What about my esteemed status?
-
It wasn't none of that. It was the whom, and the whom
-
was Christ. To whom would we go?
-
But there's people making raw deals in society today.
-
They're trading the whom for what?
-
They're trading a whom for where.
-
They're trading the whom for a promotion.
-
They're trading a whom, if you will, for riches of the world.
-
They're trading a whom, if you will, for notoriety in the
-
world. Listen, none of that is as
-
valuable as the whom, Amen. The King's return is enough.
-
That's sufficient for the church, Mary said.
-
At Jesus's feet she chose presents over performance.
-
Habakka declared. And Habakka 3 And I know we
-
don't read a lot, it seems like from Habakkuk sometimes, but
-
Habakkuk 317 says, he says, although the fig tree shall not
-
blossom. Oh, I like this, he said.
-
Neither shall fruit be in the vines.
-
Labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no
-
meat. The flock shall be cut off from
-
the fold. There shall be no herd in the
-
stalls. Verse 18.
-
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my
-
salvation. You know what Habakkuk is
-
saying. Take the trees, take the vines,
-
take me all the press, take the meat, take the flock, take the
-
herbs, but give me the Lord. I find my joy in the Lord.
-
A fibba chef, though he feels lost because of a passive in
-
that has no no doubt prohibited him and prevented him from
-
reaching David. He acknowledges in this point in
-
our text that now that David has returned, he has access even
-
when others like Ziba refused to help him.
-
The King's return is coming back to Jerusalem, gave all of them
-
access, and now he's in a measurable distance where even
-
Mephibosheth can reach him. We can listen to the heart of
-
Mephibosheth, he said. Just take it all, Take the
-
inheritance. Just don't take my king.
-
Just don't take my king. The chef, he said.
-
Just take it all, take the inheritance.
-
Just don't take my king. Just don't take that.
-
There have been, baby, maybe you have missed moments where you
-
wished you hadn't missed moments.
-
There might be some that says there's been other people that
-
slandered me. There's been other people lied
-
on me. There's been other people that's
-
passed over me. There's been other people that's
-
taken what is mine. But I'm here to tell you today
-
that the king is returning. He's going to return and his
-
presence is already here and he's coming back for you.
-
He's not far from every one of us, not far from the cripple,
-
not far from the hurting, not far from the wounded, not far
-
from the forgotten, not far from the confused, the whoever, the
-
whatever. The king has come back for you.
-
You stand with me. And is that he did not defend
-
his reputation. He did not demand what was
-
rightfully his. He didn't even ask for, oh, only
-
half. I want it all back.
-
Just wanted the king, Brother Malone.
-
And when you live in a world like we Live Today that's
-
obsessed with getting back what's been taken, Here's a man
-
that stands diametrically different from them.
-
He's just saying let them have it all.
-
As long as I've got the King back in his rightful place,
-
that's enough for me. And I'll tell you tonight,
-
that's the heart that God honors, the one that values His
-
presence over presence. I'm not, I'm not saying I'm, I'm
-
not enamored sometime by God's blessing and His goodness and
-
kindness, but I am saying this. If it's that or him, I'll lay
-
down my claim to the field. I'll try to erase the slander
-
from my mind. I'll let go of what I lost back
-
on Zion. Because the king is back.
-
That's all that matters. You know what that means?
-
That means I can come to the table, sit down again.
-
Because the king is home. The king is home.
-
As long as the king is home. Ladies and gentlemen, there's
-
still a seat with your name on it at the King's table, but
-
there's no table to sit with the king.
-
If there's no king, people surrounding themselves with
-
their goods just surround me with the presence of my king,
-
because his return, it's enough. He came looking for me.
-
He came looking for me. All the other perks that were
-
given to me, they couldn't do that search, but the king could.
-
For that matter. None of those things per SE knew
-
I was missing, but The Who knew I was missing.
-
I'm going to hold these things loosely, but I guarantee you
-
this, in the day without him, without experiencing him,
-
without his presence at the table, I'm in a posture of
-
longing for him. I'm in a posture of desiring
-
him. There's not a day that goes by
-
that I don't want to spend time in his presence.
-
He's blessed me with a house and cars and money to take care of
-
my family, but I don't want there a day go by that I just
-
surround myself with the things that not surround myself with
-
him because his presence is what matters to him.
-
I'm challenging us in this place that we would we would just get
-
the heart of a Mephibosheth. He says you can just take it
-
all. I know what used to rightfully
-
be in my hand, but you can even have it as long as I got the
-
King. I wish somebody would search
-
their heart and be introspective tonight.
-
Are we living our lives at a lesser degree because we are
-
just living off the things rather than living off the King
-
we surrounded our lives with, with things that are temporal
-
and things that fade away and things that moths can eat and
-
rust can corrupt? But folks, the eternal is the
-
King. We need the King tonight.
-
Every day we need to sit at the table in the presence of our
-
King. This altar is open right now
-
because I think the King's return is enough.
-
He found you on the backside of load a bar.
-
He found you in, in barrenness, with no legacy, no hope, without
-
anything. If you look at your life right
-
now, anything that you have that is even notable, it stemmed from
-
him, it came from him. It boiled down in the overflow
-
of it was from him. Give me Jesus, give me Jesus,
-
give me Jesus. You can have it all.
-
It's just like I don't even need half.
-
Just knowing the King is safe at home, just knowing the King is
-
safe at home, that's good enough for me.
-
That's good enough for me. I wonder if somebody could just
-
bump the relationship up just one level.
-
That the Lord is sufficient for you suffices.
-
It's not like the Lord and this and the Lord and that, Just
-
having him, that's sufficient. It's sufficient.
-
The return of the King is enough.
-
Oh, I feel the Holy Ghost. I feel the Holy Ghost.
-
I need the Lord above every other need, above every other
-
want, above every other aspiration in this life.
-
I need the Lord, I need Him. I need him.
-
Who would we go to Lord? We left you who?
-
Who? Who would we go to, Lord?
-
There's not another who that can substitute for you.
-
There's not another who that can replace you.
-
There's not an adequate who that could be in your stand.
-
That's none like you. There's nothing that compares to
-
you. I need you.
-
Oh, let's talk to Lord here at the end of the service for a
-
little while. They they prepare a song.
