Amen. Greetings in Jesus name.
-
Today. Hallelujah.
-
Good to see. You, we see that you made it.
-
Your fingers are still there from lighting off fireworks and
-
stuff. So happy about that, Amen.
-
Coming in with all digits and all appendages.
-
That's always A+, Amen. After the festivities.
-
Amen. Good to see you in the House of
-
the Lord today. You'll stand with me.
-
We're going to be turning to the Book of Second Kings.
-
Second Kings chapter #4. Men.
-
Take advantage of these services.
-
It was good to be back at Wednesday Night Bible.
-
Study this past week. Amen.
-
Struck a little vein there, Felt a witness in the spirit as.
-
Was teaching Wednesday night. A different direction for Sunday
-
on Thursday actually was headed that way.
-
Read my Bible. On Independence Day and.
-
Felt a different direction for this morning.
-
Amen. I want the Lord to help us.
-
Going to read what to some. If you've been a part of church
-
for a good portion of your life, this story is not foreign to
-
you, but I'm perhaps going to come at it in just a little
-
different angle than what has typically been in in times.
-
Past. Second Kings chapter #4 And I
-
want to start reading with verse #1 The Bible says, Now there
-
cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the
-
prophets. And to Elisha saying, Thy
-
servant, my husband is dead, and thou knowest that thy servant
-
did feared the Lord. The creditor is come to take
-
unto him my two sons to be bondsman.
-
Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee?
-
Tell me, what hast thou in the house?
-
And she said. Thine handmaid hath not anything
-
in the house save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go borrow the
-
vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels
-
borrow not a few. And when thou are come in, thou
-
shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shall
-
pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that
-
which is full. So she went for from him.
-
And shut the door upon her, and upon her sons who brought.
-
The vessels to. Her and she poured out, and it
-
came to pass when the vessels were full.
-
And she said that she. Said unto her Son, Bring me yet
-
another vessel. And he said unto her, There is
-
not a vessel. More and the oil stayed.
-
Then she came and told the man of God, and he said, Go and sell
-
the oil, pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the
-
rest. Amen for a little.
-
While this morning. I want to minister this.
-
Redeeming the home. Redeeming the.
-
Home. Hallelujah.
-
Will you help me right now? Pray.
-
Amen. Father, we need you today.
-
God, we're thankful. Lord Jesus, for you, for your
-
spirit, God, your power, I pray. O Lord, let your word, God stand
-
up among us today. It doesn't need propped up.
-
It doesn't need help. Lord, it's powerful.
-
Lord Jesus, it's instructive. Lord, it's enlightening all by
-
itself. I pray.
-
O Lord, today, minister to someone in this building, Lord,
-
or even our viewing audience online, let your word go forth.
-
And do that which is. Sent to accomplish in our lives
-
and will not fail to thank you and praise you for it.
-
In the lovely name of Jesus Christ that I pray Hallelujah
-
and the church say Amen. Amen.
-
You may be seated. This morning, redeeming the
-
home. Now, like many of you.
-
Today and, and bear with me a little bit here as I get
-
started. Bear with me in my folly.
-
Here just a little bit. I live in a different or in a
-
different era than the present era.
-
Like many that are in this audience that are older.
-
I just had a birthday that's older than myself, all right?
-
And so even several of you even live even in a.
-
Different era than when I grew up, but nonetheless.
-
I lived during the time when there were still door to door
-
salesman that was. Still a thing we we didn't have
-
digital ads. We didn't even have the
-
Internet. You know, we didn't have
-
anything like that. New, new.
-
Items that were going to be highlighted as as new goods or
-
as some type of new product. Sometimes you might find it.
-
Highlighted in a certain section of a newspaper, I'll show.
-
You one. After church, a newspaper, or or
-
you might hear about an ad on the radio of something that new.
-
That was that that. Was out there and then we had
-
big old Sears catalog. I remember the Sears catalogs
-
that was so big they rivaled the size of a family Bible.
-
I mean, I couldn't remember. Whenever Christmas time was
-
coming, you could look through a Sears catalog until the next
-
Christmas and before you got through all the pages.
-
And so since the primary advertiser was just word of
-
mouth, it wasn't unusual to have a stranger knock on your door
-
during daylight hours, hoping to demonstrate what came by our
-
neighborhood a lot. They wanted to show us the new
-
and the greatest vacuum cleaner, Brother Reese of how it cleanse
-
the floor. And, and I remember this
-
explicit explicitly, brother short that there were times and
-
my mom would allow me in and and they would throw down D
-
batteries, D batteries on the floor and they would suck those
-
things up just to show how strong of a suction that that
-
was. And, and, or if you lived in a
-
more culture neighborhood that wasn't ours, but sometimes it
-
would come by with with with showing you the latest magazine.
-
Subscription that you could. Get so on and so forth.
-
And so since. We didn't live in the culture
-
neighborhood. We had the vacuum.
-
Salesman and I I'm. Telling you this morning, my mom
-
would invite them in to demonstrate.
-
Because when you got a family of seven people and someone's
-
willing to come in and vacuum one of your floors, you're
-
hoping that they're going to do a load of laundry and maybe fix
-
dinner before it's all said and done.
-
I guarantee. You that and so.
-
We, we had them come in. And so over the years, though,
-
as time has shifted, the home has shifted from what used to be
-
a very semi public space to a more private space, a more
-
protected sanctuary. Even even the best of salesman
-
today, and I don't think there is hardly any would think twice
-
before they showed up at our homes with our no solicitation
-
signs and our five cameras that point at the front door and the
-
beware of dog and I support the Second Amendment sign.
-
You understand what I'm saying. They're they're not coming by
-
any of those things. As a matter of fact, today a
-
friendly knock at the door. We meet with a a air of.
-
Suspicion. Sometimes annoyance.
-
That's me. A few weeks back we had such a
-
knock at our door. Someone knocked at our.
-
Door and I wasn't aware. That it was a.
-
Prearranged visit but. I did what only a proper
-
homeowner in today's world does when there comes a unexpected.
-
Knock at the door. I appeared.
-
Around the corner of the. Window.
-
Right, because I had to decide in this moment, am I going to
-
give my attention to this knock or am I going to go prostate on
-
the floor and stay there till they.
-
Lose heart and walk away. You think I'm kidding?
-
Today, but typically. I'm telling you the truth.
-
In my home, if there is a knock in our house, I'm going to the
-
bedroom and assuming the fetal position.
-
That's absolutely right. And I'm waiting.
-
And I'm deferring to to misses personality and misses off the
-
charts. Extrovert tends to answer the
-
door. Yeah, you know, some of you live
-
and you know exactly where what I'm talking about.
-
But I reckon I recognized it was a neighbor.
-
Of ours. And so I'm still.
-
Puzzled, and it's no doubt upon my face tag that I'm.
-
Puzzled and so. She opened, I opened the door
-
and I greeted her, and she began to explain to me that Dawn had
-
made the arrangement. It had to be on my face in
-
order. For her to say that that Dawn
-
had made the. Arrangement and and my face.
-
Was probably saying it all and so I soon changed though my my
-
my demeanor and everything because she handed me a half
-
half sphere of a freshly baked bread with a little linen around
-
it. I'm like.
-
Oh yeah. So Don arranged it.
-
I. Didn't know about.
-
It and I just recently. Got home but.
-
But in the past, unannounced visits were just part of
-
everyday life. You didn't call or text 'cause
-
you didn't have a phone on you all the time.
-
And if you were already in the area, it's not like you were
-
going to find a pay phone to deposit money in it and call
-
them and see if. Somebody was home.
-
You just drove by and you. Showed up, it might be dinner
-
time, they might be in the middle of the project.
-
I can tell you the number of times people came by our house
-
growing up. And Mom's like, well, let me fix
-
some sweet. Tea you want to stay for dinner
-
if someone came by my house today, I'm waiting to see if
-
they leave before I fix my dinner.
-
That's not how trace. That's not how I.
-
Operate today. A few years ago, I'm not shared
-
this with y'all with you, but my wife and I were out West and we
-
were ministering out West and there was a church that we were
-
preaching for out there and the pastor on that Saturday.
-
Spent a lot of time. Grill and I mean, he had steaks
-
out there and and and baked potatoes wrapped in tinfoil in
-
the grill and it was it was going like all day.
-
And it's like, man. He he just had all.
-
Kinds of food more than what we was going to be able to eat and
-
I I just thought he was pulling out.
-
All the stops of hospitality. You know, to make us welcome and
-
such and. Then we sat.
-
Down in their house to eat and folks, it was like a revolving
-
door. People didn't even knock on
-
their door. They would just walk in their
-
house from the church and they might get a steak and a potato.
-
They might sit there at the counter or eat at the counter,
-
make some conversation or said that I'm sitting here and
-
thinking what? In the world is going on.
-
I mean, they're entering and leaving, maybe staying 5 minutes
-
or 10 minutes, you know, look at me.
-
Pasta salad. You know I didn't.
-
Know they were coming I mean just.
-
In and out and all that, just as easily as they.
-
Came shooting the breeze, maybe not even eating at all, just
-
showing up. But that was their cultural
-
norm. That was their church cultural
-
norm. But the expectation of privacy
-
at home, it's evolved over time. It's evolved from from a
-
preference to Now it's almost a social norm for the privacy of
-
the. Home.
-
But not all the privacy a home provides has.
-
Been beneficial either. As much as people want their.
-
Homes to be sanctuaries. There's several experiences that
-
take place in the context of the home that is polar opposite.
-
To that, just walk with me for a little while.
-
Today, the World Health Organization Violence against
-
women. An article they published.
-
In 2021, reported that globally, one in three women experience
-
physical or sexual violence. Often at the.
-
Hands of someone in their home, thus turning their.
-
Home into a prison. Child help reports of the child
-
is abused every 10 seconds in the.
-
US, often by their caregivers. And so that place that was meant
-
to nurture them becomes a place of fear and a place of
-
brokenness, Bewildered even today to share this with you.
-
Victims of human trafficking are regularly uncovered as operating
-
out of suburban homes. And so when you have those type
-
of things that happen within the context of your privacy or
-
sanctuary, so to speak, that changes a person's view of home.
-
When kitchen tables become the place where kids see their
-
parents do a line of crack cocaine and rather than be in a
-
place where they share a meal, that changes the perspective of
-
home. It's in those moments that home
-
can feel broken and home can feel, if you will, incomplete.
-
Some even today, I believe even in this church this morning,
-
have come from places where home has been scene of some of your.
-
Deepest pain. And some of your deepest hurts.
-
And I suspect this morning, Bishop, that that's that's a
-
little bit of the tragedy of the event in the scripture that I
-
read to you this morning, because this woman and her sons
-
are facing a domestic problem. They're facing a home problem.
-
Her husband, their father, has died.
-
The Scripture tells us her sons are on the verge of being taken
-
away by the creditor to become enslaved, to work off the debt,
-
perhaps of their father and their own.
-
She feels, the Bible says, whenever she replies to Elijah,
-
she feels like in her home, there's nothing left.
-
This, this, this sanctuary, this place where conversation should
-
take place, love should happen, all these things.
-
She feels like there's nothing left to her, and also probably
-
to her. Sons as well it.
-
Seemed like her home had nothing to offer, nothing at all.
-
And you got to understand this morning what happened here,
-
happened at home. Just walk with me a little bit.
-
Typically in the Old Testament we read the scripture.
-
You can do. It you read through your Bible
-
every year and as you read, typically whenever somebody dies
-
away from home, the scripture is usually very good about
-
informing. Us about that.
-
It's usually very good. Telling us about.
-
That when you read that. Saul died it.
-
Tells us that he died in battle on Mount Gabola.
-
Hey man, it tells us that whenever Rachel died, the Bible
-
says she died on the journey she was.
-
At home. She was in route, and the Bible
-
gives us that information whenever we read in Scripture
-
that Abel was slain by his brother.
-
He was slain by him in a field. He tell the Bible tells us
-
specifically that it wasn't at his.
-
Home, we're told that yeah. In this scripture, we are simply
-
told by the widow that her husband is dead.
-
No causes mentioned, no location is mentioned, no context is
-
mentioned, and so since we don't have no additional additional
-
details given, it suggests that it likely happened at home.
-
Just just I, I remember as a young man, I.
-
Was in my senior. Year of high school and I
-
understand the imprint of a loss in a home.
-
What that can do. My mom cared for my Grandma
-
McGee in our home until she died.
-
Grandma was dying of cancer. I was the last child to live at
-
home. My senior year there.
-
Was my bedroom and a door and right across there was the room
-
where my grandma was laying. As a matter of fact, if the door
-
would be left open, Tracy, I could lay in my bed and peer
-
straight into that bedroom of the woman that's laying in her
-
bed dying. I remember as a young man
-
hearing the death rattles just across the way.
-
I could see into her room. Hey, man, that that affects you.
-
The restroom in that house was virtually in that room where
-
Grandma. Was.
-
There wasn't a time after that that if I allowed myself, I
-
could envision her deteriorating body in that space because we
-
had suffered the loss of her in that house.
-
And I was very young and impressionable.
-
I still remember, and even as I was putting this together, I
-
remember the the, the coroner, Amen.
-
With her on the bed, taking her out through those different
-
rooms of the house. There's just something that
-
stays with you. And that's what I experienced as
-
a 17 year old young boy, a man going to be graduating from high
-
school. So you got to understand she and
-
her sons had witnessed the death of a loved one in their home.
-
And not only have they experienced the loss in their
-
home, but the Bible tells us now they are experiencing the
-
accumulating debt of their home and they're experiencing, if you
-
will, the lack that they have in their home.
-
Where there was once maybe well furnished shelves, now those
-
shelves are being stripped with each passing day and they are
-
more and more bare. Amen.
-
Their children, her children, her sons are recognizing that
-
and experiencing that in their home.
-
There's a daily depletion of their goods that's happening in
-
their house. So matter of fact, the Bible.
-
Doesn't tell us I. I don't know how old these sons
-
were, but we might be able to infer today that they're old
-
enough to understand debt and to be taken by creditors for for,
-
but they're also young enough to be vulnerable from the trauma of
-
losing the father and feel the threat of enslavement upon
-
their. Lives, and this was in the.
-
Context of their home in that home.
-
They witnessed loss they had. Grieved there, they had seen the
-
tears. Fall off their mama's.
-
Face and their own. Face and hit the.
-
Floor there they had witnessed the lack of.
-
Things they felt the. Stress and the burden and the
-
pressure of not having enough in.
-
That home they witnessed the. Fear of a weeping.
-
Mom and approaching creditors and.
-
All of the dynamics. Was taking place within their.
-
Home. Domestically, life had been
-
difficult in their house. Someone say glory.
-
Because all the losses seem to pertain to the.
-
House death there, death there, depletion there soon detainment
-
of the sons from there. This is the reason why I feel my
-
help. Coming here just a little bit.
-
This is the reason. Why Amen, when everything had
-
been explained to Elijah about the death and the debt and the.
-
Creditor that Elijah asked this question.
-
What do you have in? Your house.
-
And when that mom, when that widow stared back at his?
-
Face and said nothing. He understood that the house
-
needed some healing, that the house needed some.
-
Sad that the house. Needed a characterization.
-
Change. It became the center.
-
It became the center focus. Can I tell you it's interesting
-
to denote? That when that widow stayed at
-
all those things, Elisha didn't say, Well, let's get up a mule.
-
And get your boys together and let's get to the temple that's
-
in Jerusalem. He wasn't taking her to a
-
temple. He wasn't taking her to a
-
Tabernacle, no. He says you go back.
-
Home. You.
-
He says, listen here, honey, you go back home not because the
-
temple is unimportant, the temple is important, he says,
-
but you go back home because what you need is a domestic
-
miracle, because. You got a domestic problem.
-
What you need is. Something that happened within
-
the. Confines of that house.
-
Amen to balance out. All of the dilemmas, all of the
-
laws, all of the grief. All of the heartache that you've
-
experienced in that home. I'm not undermining the temple.
-
We need the temple, we read. The day of Pentecost was fully
-
common. They received the baptism of the
-
Holy Ghost. And they continued the apostles
-
doctrine, and in. Fellowship and breaking the
-
bread and prayer. We read all that the Bible says
-
that they continued in the temple but also in house.
-
There's got to be a good. Measure of balance.
-
Of God's Spirit and power in the temple and at home.
-
Don't misunderstand me, but the church shouldn't be the place I
-
got to get to. To get my fix.
-
I should. Be able to get something.
-
At home, within the walls of my house.
-
This should not be the only place I pray.
-
There needs to be a prayer room in my home.
-
I don't need God just to answer here.
-
I got faith God can answer at the house.
-
Someone came in SO. He says you, you, you go home.
-
And. She along with her boys, what
-
they need to realize her statement is there's nothing.
-
Save a part of oil. And she has even a resignation
-
about that. But she needed to realize.
-
Woman, looking back, everything you've been through life is like
-
I need you to recognize something there are still some
-
redeemable qualities there's. Still some redeemable qualities
-
about your home. There's someone hearing today.
-
Yeah, I know. We show up on Sundays and we put
-
on our Sunday best and we tie our necktie and we.
-
Shine our. Shoes and we put the.
-
Smiles on our faces. And my thing is I.
-
Don't live in your home and you don't live in mine, but I don't
-
know what goes upon beyond closed.
-
Doors. I don't know what happens in
-
your place. I don't know if the same smile.
-
Follows you home as you have here.
-
I know some of you might have grieving homes.
-
You've suffered loss, you've suffered abuse.
-
There's been arguments that you can't think.
-
About, but I've come today. As a pastor of this church to
-
somehow peel back to. Layer and say there are.
-
Still some redeemable qualities even about your.
-
House and your family. He says, you know what he said?
-
Don't go to the temple, go home. You and your sons go home and
-
start pouring that oil in the vessels that you.
-
Get from your neighbors if I can say it like.
-
This, he said, go home. And shut the.
-
Door and be obedient. To the word God's given you
-
until your miracle happens. Until your miracle.
-
So much say man. You know what I believe Elijah
-
understood, He said If you grieved in that house, you need
-
to go back until you can. Rejoice in that house.
-
If you've been weighed down by stress in that house, you.
-
Need to go back home? Until you feel the comfort and
-
the peace of a turmoil. Free home instead of fear.
-
You need. Faith, the substance of things
-
hoped for. And the evidence of things not
-
seen. God's answer to them.
-
His message to them is that I'll redeem your home.
-
Historically, God has moved in more places.
-
Than tabernacles, temples and synagogues.
-
He's showing up in kitchens. Upper rooms, pantries, Sister
-
Adams. I know you're walking out.
-
But you have kids. That have received the Holy
-
Ghost at home. I grabbed A Weisenberger at a
-
time that old coal burning stove didn't have the money for the
-
code. To burn in the stove.
-
But in the process of a day or so, a pile of coal showed up on
-
his lot. Still to the time that he died.
-
As far as I know, never knows. Never knew where it came from or
-
who brought it. What's that?
-
That's a miracle. Happening at the house.
-
I know you have experienced some things in your.
-
Home but God. Wants to redeem it too.
-
I know it may seem like all this is negativity, but God wants to
-
bring some positive aspects. He wants to redeem.
-
It might be the home you grew up in.
-
That you were taken advantage. Of or that you were just almost
-
bludgeoned if you will, with abuse.
-
God wants to redeem your. Circumstance.
-
God wants to redeem your family, God.
-
See To redeem the house or redeem the home.
-
I thought I had a pocket there, but I don't.
-
Is to redeem something beyond the physical structure because
-
the word house. Or home.
-
In the Hebrew, denotes. More than the physical
-
structure, it denotes a household.
-
Or a family or a. Lineage.
-
God. Wasn't just on some bend of
-
redeeming the. Physical structure.
-
There were some. Sons there, Fatherless, yes,
-
but. Not fatherless in other.
-
Aspects no one say man, we need the homes redeemed.
-
Because listen. Whenever God spoke to Israel.
-
In the book of Deuteronomy, before Joshua started, Joshua
-
was the book of all the conquests.
-
Of the land of promise. Taking this this taking this
-
city going to battle. Taking that city.
-
But the Lord had already spoken to them.
-
He said this conquest. Is going to be a long conquest.
-
It's going to be. Little by little and you.
-
Know what he's basically conveying to them?
-
It's not going to happen just in one generation, but the conquest
-
I have for Israel, it's going to take you working at it and
-
passing off that same work ethic to your next generation.
-
It's going to happen over. Time of generations and the.
-
Only way that can happen. Is if we have a.
-
Redeemed tones, he says. What?
-
I'm going. To I'm going to redeem your.
-
House folks what I've. Learned in my life.
-
Is that? God doesn't just meet me where I
-
worship, He meets me where I live.
-
You'll meet me at the epicenters of some of my.
-
Deepest pains. You talk about home, stick with
-
me for a moment. Day of Pentecost, outpouring of
-
the Spirit, birth of the church, Glory Hallelujah.
-
Amen. 7 or 10 day prayer meeting.
-
Yes, but. That was occurring in a.
-
Borrowed room of a house. The reality, the birth of the
-
church is. Tied back to a borrowed.
-
Room that was in a. House.
-
We look at Saul, we look at David and we think man David,
-
one of the greatest kings of all 40 years and serving, and he was
-
a man after God's own heart. But listen, whenever David was
-
anointed, he wasn't anointed in the palace or in the Tabernacle.
-
He was anointed. At Bethlehem, he was anointed at
-
home. So God didn't tell the widow,
-
take those boys to the temple. He said no, go home.
-
Shut the door. Behind you and your sons and
-
begin to fill the jars of oil and set each jar that you feel.
-
Whenever it gets full, set it aside.
-
Why? Because.
-
For all the bad things. That you've seen in your home.
-
For all the bad. Things that you've.
-
Experienced in your home. You guys need to witness the
-
reality of God in your home. Your resounding nothing needs a.
-
Something that can be that. Can be sandwiched.
-
Up against them. You read, you read.
-
Leviticus 14 right in there. 13141516 even.
-
You read in the Old Testament Leviticus about leprosy.
-
It's an emblem. It's an emblem of sin.
-
It's a mark of sin. You could have leprosy on or in
-
a person. You'd have leprosy.
-
I know it bro in a. Garment and you could.
-
Have leprosy in the house and. When leprosy.
-
Began to get into the. House and the.
-
Stones that were mortared together with one another in
-
the. House.
-
The Bible describes it. It would get.
-
Greenish or reddish like straight lines in it and that
-
the owner. I believe it's a Leviticus 14.
-
That speaks out about this. And the owner would go see a
-
priest and he says I. Perceive that we got some.
-
Plague going on at home and the priest would come.
-
And he would investigate it. And he would set everyone and
-
everything outside of it for seven days, and they would keep
-
an eye on it and he'd go look at it at the end of seven days and
-
the things hadn't changed. You know what they did?
-
They took the affected. Stones and they.
-
Begin to chisel out that mortar I ran about the.
-
Affected stones that were greenish and reddish and they
-
would cast them aside and. Put.
-
New stones in their place. Why was this important?
-
Because whoever lived in the home, they saw the green and
-
they saw the red straight marks. They needed to be able to go
-
back in the same house and that no longer be there.
-
They needed to experience something in their house that
-
they that was different from the far.
-
He says. He says we're going to.
-
We're going to allow. You to go home.
-
Because you and your boys need a moment.
-
In your house, that will change the way that you walk through
-
your. House instead of.
-
Walking through your house and pausing with tears coming up in
-
your eyes and saying, well, that that right there this area is.
-
Where Dad took his last breath. Instead of walking through the
-
house and coming to some bare. Shelf and saying well that that
-
that right there that's the that's the shelf that went bare
-
first when the onset of the depletion came or or saying that
-
quarter over there is where mom cried and.
-
Cried for three hours straight. Hey man, even the invitation.
-
Of her beating. Fist is in the floor.
-
That right there. He said you need a new way that
-
you can walk through the house. You need a way that now you walk
-
through there and can say. That corner over there is where
-
we. Stacked.
-
The empty jars that we borrowed from our neighbors and that
-
shelf over there was the last shelf to be full with oil.
-
And that room over there is where God did what only God
-
could do their. Home.
-
Needed healed. It needed redeemed.
-
I've approached life. Perhaps just a little
-
differently than most. The psychologist and
-
psychiatrist would probably really not think good of me.
-
And if there's any out there, just send me a letter because I
-
got a special filing system for it.
-
I've been honest in the growing years of my children.
-
I've been honest with them. Brother Fred, they said.
-
Don't put any. Undue stress on your kids.
-
Well, I don't I. Just just kind of real.
-
I tell them. Sometimes when the money wasn't.
-
There for XY and ZI know that's all right.
-
Take Me Out to. The Woodshed, hi.
-
You're burning your kids. No, I'm just telling them about
-
the reality of life, that there's just.
-
Times like that, my sister Sheila, I've all set that then
-
that I've also. Pointed out to them.
-
When God has come through just in the nick of time.
-
This was the lack. I told you about it members so
-
many weeks ago. This was the supply.
-
Why? Because I want.
-
Them to be experienced something in the home.
-
You all. Have heard me tell us.
-
I'm going to tell it again, OK? Just buckle up and hear enough
-
years now that I can repeat myself.
-
And I'm getting old enough now. I'll do it even without.
-
Even recognizing you. Remember, I'm taking the
-
Trevor's room right now today and stained on top of his.
-
Heater and down the front. Of his heater is a stain of blue
-
and red where in his day when? He wore his Spidey outfit, which
-
he has one that fits him even still today he entertained
-
taking to Washington, DC. And getting pictures taken with
-
people making a little bit of money told me it probably pass
-
out because the heat was just very intrusive and we probably
-
got arrested. I can see Trevor now on steps of
-
the Capitol. But they're staying still on
-
that heater because one night on a Wednesday night after Bible
-
study during the winter time, we have baseboard heating.
-
We came home. His Spidey, his Spidey attire
-
have been right on that heater. It melted that fabric on the
-
heater. We had no fire.
-
But what I pointed out to those kids was it was during the time,
-
I tell. You that I change prayer places
-
all the time. It was during.
-
The time that I was play praying in a different.
-
Room of my home each day, you know where.
-
I had prayed that morning Criss cross applesauce on the.
-
Floor in Trevor's room. For anything that my kids may
-
have experienced. In our home and we don't have a
-
perfect home. It's things like that that
-
redeemed. I still have the picture.
-
I believe it's in my phone. I'd have to look through the,
-
you know, almost 6000 pictures on my phone that I got more
-
iCloud, you know, space for. I still.
-
Probably have the picture. This.
-
Is all. What is this?
-
I don't know, I guess we're just careless.
-
I was over cleaning out like Mariah's room one time.
-
I don't even remember how many years ago this was.
-
And you know me in the air around here of dumb dumb.
-
Suckers. My kids had some.
-
And inside the baseboard heater. Sitting on top of the.
-
Coils was a stick and paper that.
-
I mean, I'm what I'm. Saying, is it still the?
-
Perfect form of a sucker. The paper was very browned and
-
charred bag. When I unwrapped it, the inside
-
candy was totally gone. It had melted.
-
It was hot enough to melt the candy but not burn.
-
The paper still had perfect form.
-
Well, you said I don't care what grief you've met with.
-
I don't. Care what your.
-
Family or your home has suffered.
-
God wants some things to take place in your house.
-
That will bring a little. Courage a little with all.
-
About you know what, Yes. We fail, but I.
-
Think we can make it too? Yes, we are not perfect, but I
-
think we can come on the other side too.
-
Yes, He wants to redeem your house.
-
What is it? It's just the handiwork of God
-
telling us to go home, telling us that for all the.
-
Bad and confusing nothing moments.
-
That we've had at our house, that there are some God moments
-
in the same House of our grief, in the same House of our sorrow,
-
in the same House of our fear. There's some God moments,
-
everybody. Doing OK.
-
I am. I'm operating off 2 hours of
-
sleep right now. You know what made that picture?
-
Grandma being across that threshold to the other room,
-
dying, less intimidating to me. Something that happened all my
-
life, even after that in that same little bathroom.
-
I'm not trying to be TMI here where you could sit on the
-
stool, have a foot in the tub and one hand in the sink all at
-
the same time. Laurie Amen Hallelujah and my
-
dad 5 O clock in the morning would make that his prayer room
-
and after his mom. Had died in that space.
-
You know what he's still doing? He's going to that same location
-
and he's made of this prayer room.
-
And I could lay in my room though my grandma.
-
Died. Across there, you know what I'm
-
here and why I'm laying there early in the.
-
Morning God touched the church. God move upon Paul Junior.
-
God this, God that. Why?
-
Because although I suffered loss.
-
There God says I redeem it with this I'll.
-
Can I tell you that you can have a hand in the redemption of your
-
room? It's all about.
-
Whether you're going home, gathering them around and doing
-
the porn that is only an act of faith, waiting for the mirror,
-
listen. This is not the McGee.
-
Show but I'm telling you this, I got the text still on my thing.
-
I go get. Groceries for our family on.
-
Mondays, my Mondays, it's my day off from church work.
-
It's my heavy day for personal word.
-
My wife never asked. I just offered that on Mondays I
-
go to get stuff, you know, and I make a list.
-
I'm a list person. I make a list.
-
Got a digital one on my phone. It's.
-
Great, you know all. You know you you check it and it
-
goes to the bottom of the list. Uncheck it, it comes to the top
-
of the list. I love it.
-
I if I bought. Everything that was on that
-
list. We'd have groceries for months
-
because, you know, we change. I got recipes in there and the
-
ingredients I need below each. One check, check, check uncheck.
-
Right. Sometimes I miss not checking or
-
remembering what's in the cupboard There's.
-
One of the times in. Right.
-
This, this was probably within just the last year or so thing
-
like where I was in college. I pray at home, I pray at the
-
church, you know, I believe everywhere.
-
You just pray. I've told you.
-
I prayed in that little baptismal room up there, Chairs
-
up there in it, Fred. Small little space, but.
-
Mean Jesus can fit. I've prayed in my garage.
-
I've prayed in my backyard. Don't matter.
-
I've tried to. Live that before my boys.
-
Because listen to me, the creditor.
-
Is always looking for opportunity.
-
To wrap. Tap on your house door for your
-
children. So I texted.
-
Mariah, one day I'm like Mariah. Do we have?
-
Whatever it was occurred to, jeez, I don't know.
-
Do we have? Didn't hear from her, Didn't
-
hear from her. Didn't hear from her.
-
Didn't hear from her. I was like, fine, I'll just get
-
it. Only for her to text back I
-
think on my way home. She said sorry dad, I was
-
praying. I've I've been praying in the
-
morning. And start hearing her prey.
-
But I was never. So happy to buy curded.
-
Cheese for $4. Then to know there's some
-
redemption happening back. At the house keep.
-
Pouring that. Sis.
-
Keep pouring that, sis. Keep pouring that, sis.
-
Listen, I'm a stupid idiot. I get angry, mad.
-
My kids still give me a hard time about this to this day.
-
I was aggravated by something one day.
-
I was walking down our hallway and I was just kind of thumping
-
my wall. I was aggravated and my side of
-
my fist went into our drywall. I fixed it.
-
You probably couldn't find it. But they give me a hard time
-
like that. Trevor, it's once while if he
-
can tell I'm getting a little aggravated.
-
He said Dad, you need to go put a hole in the.
-
Wall, I said. Trevor I.
-
Didn't even mean to do that, I was just.
-
Stumping. I was going down.
-
And it just hit. What is that?
-
That's something that needs redeemed, but it can only be
-
redeemed with. Opposite things to that taking
-
place in the same space. Now somebody's going to.
-
Show up in my door and. Announce a knock because they
-
won't walk. Around numb it down my hallway.
-
Well, I'll be in the better mood, in the fetal position and
-
talk to my wife. Stand with me today.
-
The gist of what I'm trying to convey this morning is this is
-
that if? You're sitting or standing.
-
Here today, thinking my house is too far gone.
-
It's too broken, it's too heavy, it's too haunted by what's
-
happened inside its walls. I've come to.
-
Tell you that that house can be redeemed too.
-
Can I tell you he's still? Sending oil to.
-
Broken homes he didn't. Need a palace.
-
He he didn't need a platform. He just.
-
Needed someone to believe that there was still something left.
-
Redeemable I caught by you. In the house because for.
-
Every memory that. May hurt.
-
He could. Create a new one for you every.
-
Room where? Where there's been?
-
Shouting, or maybe sometimes deafening silence or sorrow.
-
He can fill it with laughter. He can fill it with prayer.
-
He can fill it with peace. Every child that seems.
-
That they should have never seen.
-
He can. Let them know of a miracle.
-
Right in. Their.
-
Living room. So pastors telling you today, go
-
home, shut your door, bring your family in and that's still the
-
instruction as it was in second Kings Ford, still the
-
instruction today. Go home and believe again.
-
Go home and pour again. Go home and pray in the hallway
-
if you. Need to worship in your?
-
Kitchen believe God for something new.
-
In the bedroom, whatever it is. Because if God can feel.
-
Empty vessels. In a widow's house.
-
Again, he can redeem, feel the holy.
-
Ghost. He can redeem ours being bow our
-
heads. All across.
-
This place. I don't have the time.
-
Today to. Pull out a 8 foot.
-
Folding table and set across from.
-
You and. Begin to get all of the.
-
Details and information about. Your home life growing up, or
-
maybe what your home life is right now.
-
Matter of fact, we probably don't.
-
Even have the hours in this day left in order for you to
-
describe and express things you've heard, seemed, felt, and.
-
I feel the Holy Ghost. And you might just look back
-
into my. Eyes this morning when I say,
-
well, what's in the house? And you might just so powerfully
-
say pastor nothing. With what my hopes.
-
Experienced nothing. But I'm just asking you today if
-
you can. Find the gumption, the
-
fortitude. Go back home.
-
Shut the door and begin to. Pour.
-
In obedience to God's Word. And.
-
Watch him do the miracle that you need to be a step forward.
-
In redeeming the traumatic. And troubling issues that you've
-
lived through in your house. These halters are open.
-
Today I feel the Holy Ghost. There's a reason today that God.
-
Directed me from Thursday to Friday to go this direction and
-
why I. Spent my birthday here.
-
A man just mulling this over and trying to fine tune what I.
-
Felt like the. Spirit was saying.
-
And I'm not. Saying that in a derogatory way,
-
man, I've been a lot of places on the Easter and Christmas and
-
other people's birthday is my anniversary.
-
Who cares but what I'm saying? Is today God cares about your
-
home? He cares about your house.
-
He cares about the generations, the men that flood out from your
-
loins in connection with you, and he's wanting to redeem some
-
things. Even in your home, He wants to
-
redeem some things. Will you make yourself?
-
Available Will you open yourself up to the possibility of what
-
God can redeem? Come on, Sir, will you make
-
yourself available? Will you open yourself up to the
-
possibility of what God? Old you are or.
-
How young you are, How wealthy you?
-
Are. Or how much of AI know you?
-
Walk through your home. And all you got.
-
Is all the happened in? That room or what happened?
-
Here and what happened there. But God wants to redeem.
-
Some. Of those things, he wants to
-
change your walkthrough. He wants to change your
-
walkthrough. In your own home.
-
Yeah. Because when I walk through
-
that. Hallway.
-
I'm not. Thinking about my fist in the
-
drywall, I'm thinking about the Spidey suit on the heater and
-
the sucker on the coils in Mariah's room.
-
I'm thinking about the prayer. That's issued for there.
-
God wants to redeem it. It's not too far gone, it's not
-
too far gone. It's not a washing of the hands
-
and a discarding to the refuse. Pile.
-
No, Sir, No. Ma'am, there are redeemable
-
things in your family. Redeemable things.
-
In your. Home for the Mason.
-
Let's go to the Lord. Right now, come on, church
-
family, I wish we could lift our voices just a little bit more
-
than where they are right now and begin to pray, begin to talk
-
to God. He's a Redeemer.
-
He's a Redeemer. He's.
-
Come on, this is the only service.
-
We're having today, ladies and gentlemen.
-
This is the only service. We're having today.
-
I wish. Someone would just grab it like
-
a. Sponge and twist it.
-
Till the very last drop. A man is squeezed from it.
-
Right. Now he wants to redeem our
-
hopes. Oh, my brother McGee, that was.
-
10. Years ago, 20 years ago.
-
How in the world God can do it? God can replace the.
-
Stones with something anew. In the fresh, he can heal it.
