  1. Hallelujah all. Let's just thank him for his

  2. goodness. Hallelujah, Hallelujah for his

  3. goodness to you. Thank you Jesus.

  4. Oh, I don't want to overlook the goodness of God.

  5. Hallelujah, Jesus, Amen. He is good.

  6. Sometimes you got to pause and think.

  7. Take in consideration his goodness sometime this past week

  8. there was just a lot of negative things going on around our house

  9. or attached to each one of us. And so I just started saying

  10. God, I thank you for this and that and it was just all kinds

  11. of things that some people just might think was little, but

  12. they're really big when you think about it.

  13. A home to live in air conditioning.

  14. I just started going, I just combat and everything that bad

  15. was going on with just being thankful for all the good that I

  16. knew about. Amen.

  17. And sometimes it takes that got to combat the the bad with the

  18. good, right? She's saying just the other day,

  19. like within the past probably 24 hours, she's had her whole

  20. college school schedule changed like 3 times and she's supposed

  21. to go back to school tomorrow. I hope she knows where she's

  22. going, but she was like, man, I'm finding a hard time to find

  23. the good right now, you know, type thing.

  24. And I believe we all get moments like that sometimes it's hard to

  25. find the good, but it's there, isn't it?

  26. Amen. The goodness of our God, Amen.

  27. Please remember this week is Bishop and Sister Mcgee's

  28. ministry appreciation Week. Also all the ladies are leaving

  29. out those that are going that is to conference at 9:00 AM on

  30. Friday, Amen. So we pray that the Lord be with

  31. them travelling mercies and that they would be refreshed and the

  32. Lord and maybe have you know something that conferences in

  33. all things like this are just kind of they're they're they can

  34. be remote gas stations on Long road sometimes that you just get

  35. to just to get a fill up just to make it to the next spot.

  36. Amen. So we pray that that is for

  37. them. Haven Music Conference, 29th and

  38. 30th of this month and then the 5th Sunday of this month, Pastor

  39. Anthony Wilkes, Sister Lisa Wilkes, Amen, will be with us.

  40. And so we'll have a good time in the Lord.

  41. Genesis chapter 21, that's where we're at.

    Genesis 21 chapter mention

  42. Brother Fred had conversation with Pat, several conversations

  43. about Pat said, going to be in Genesis tonight.

  44. And brother Fred said, I imagine unless the Lord changes his

  45. mind, that's exactly what we'll be for Pat.

  46. So here we are. Amen.

  47. Here we are, Genesis chapter 21 and I'm going to read the first

    Genesis 21 chapter mention

  48. 7 verses and then we'll read some more later, later in the

  49. night here tonight. All right, all right, the Bible

  50. says, and the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and people are

  51. giving me, maybe they were making light of, I don't know,

  52. but they were joking that tonight is like my part 39.

  53. But we had 37.5. So there's been 40 weeks of

  54. Genesis. So they said it's about time for

  55. Isaac to be born, 40 weeks. It just matches up well

  56. nonetheless. Amen.

  57. Sarah, as he had said. And the Lord did unto Sarah as

  58. he had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bare

  59. Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had

  60. spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of

  61. his son that was born to him, whom Sarah bear to him Isaac.

  62. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old as

  63. God had commanded him. And Abraham was 100 years old.

  64. Some of y'all thought it was bad having a child at the age you

  65. had a child. And you're thinking, man, I wish

  66. I did that when I was younger and have stamina, you know,

  67. pitch around the old pigskin with the boy.

  68. Imagine being 100. Lord help him when his son Isaac

  69. was born unto him. And Sarah said, God hath made me

  70. to laugh, so that all that here will laugh with me.

  71. And she said, who would have said unto Abraham that Sarah

  72. should have given children suck, or for I have borne him a son in

  73. his old age. Amen.

  74. Little while tonight in this title is encompassed in other

  75. scriptures we'll get to, but it's all kind of here together.

  76. Tonight. I want to talk about the weaning

  77. moment. WEAN like weaning, like weaning

  78. a child from having been breastfed.

  79. I want to talk about the weaning, the weaning moment.

  80. Amen. Let's ask the Lord to help us

  81. the next little well, Father, I love you, God, Your word, the

  82. Lord is forever settled. The grass, Mayweather, the

  83. flower may fade, but the word of God will stand forever.

  84. And there's not one jot or title of this word, God, that will not

  85. be fulfilled. Lord Jesus.

  86. God, I pray it all will be. Lord, it's a wholesome word.

  87. It's a word for life. It's a word Lord Jesus for

  88. salvation. God, we're thankful.

  89. Let it be all of that and more to each of us, Lord, in our

  90. daily walks and conversations with you, the lovely name of

  91. Jesus Christ that I pray Hallelujah in the church say

  92. Amen, Amen. You may be see you tonight.

  93. Now, unless we think it's a little anti climatic that

  94. there's only about 7 verses of scripture here or even probably

  95. less than that, that totally relate to the birth of Isaac.

  96. Don't let the feudeness of verses kind of over shadow the

  97. miraculous event that has taken place right here.

  98. Because as you know, for the past 10 chapters or so, there's

  99. been little glimpses and hints of this going to happen all

  100. along the way. And so now it's it's finally

  101. has. All those other chapters have

  102. been conditioning us for this very moment.

  103. It's been building our anticipation.

  104. I don't know about you. I've been on pins and needles

  105. just waiting on. Yeah, Brother Reese over.

  106. He can hardly stand it. Been on pins and needles waiting

  107. for Isaac, a man to be born. And for this moment.

  108. And the reason why I think one of the reasons I should say this

  109. is so important to us because when we started this journey

  110. about the possibility of Isaac, which was actually Genesis 12.

  111. But when you start the journey of Abraham and Sarah in their

  112. marriage with each other, I just want to recall to you the whole

  113. scenario of that back in Genesis 11.

  114. Because the Bible told us then that the name of Abram, remember

  115. this before his name change, that the name of Abram's wife

  116. was Sarai. And it says that Sarai was

  117. barren. She had no child.

  118. And so that means it throughout their entire married lives, she

  119. has been unable to have children throughout that, the entirety of

  120. that. And so again, the 1st mention of

  121. God making Abraham a great nation, which then unfolds the

  122. concept of needing or would have children happens in Genesis

  123. chapter #12 and soon from therefore.

  124. And I'm not going to go through them all because I've done that

  125. other times. But there is so many different

  126. words that came to Abraham or to Sarah or Abraham and Sarah kind

  127. of narrowing down or giving more details about this this great

  128. nation, more importantly about the birth of the child, if

  129. you'll remember. And I said, I'm not going to do

  130. this. I'm not going to do this.

  131. But nonetheless, you know, Abraham was the idea that even

  132. in the beginning, you know, what are you going to give me?

  133. I have no children. He thought maybe it would come

  134. through something else, but the Lord specified it would be

  135. through your loins, right? And then the specification got

  136. more narrow that it wouldn't just be his loins and like some

  137. other woman, right? But it would actually be Sarah.

  138. And he was even given the name that they should give him even

  139. before it ever happened. So this thing has come narrowed

  140. down to this moment and the additional chapters.

  141. Yes, they've explained to this more recently in Genesis 18 and

  142. 10 and it'll be before you tonight.

  143. The Bible says and he and the he is the Lord said, I will

  144. certainly return unto thee according to the time of life.

  145. And lo Sarah, thy wife shall have a son.

  146. He's very specific here. And Sarah heard it in the tent

  147. door which was behind him. Verse 14 says, and the Lord is

  148. saying is anything too hard for the Lord because they had their

  149. concerns being the ages they were that this would happen at

  150. the time of point. I will return to Thee according

  151. to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

  152. So God again has reaffirmed this over and over again to Abraham,

  153. Sarah, or both of them that He would do what He promised.

  154. I know we're talking about a child, but that applies to

  155. anything concerning the Lord. He will do what He promised.

  156. It took time from about Genesis 12, when it was initially spoken

  157. at the time that they're holding that baby in their arms is a

  158. process of about 25 years. 25 years waiting on the promise, 25

  159. years waiting on what God said He would do.

  160. He did 25 years of holding that baby in their heart before they

  161. held it in their arms. 25 years of time.

  162. But I believe this little few verses that we have in chapter

  163. 21 comes to bear on all of this, letting us know that you can

  164. trust God. I see.

  165. I see the wording here in the 1st 2 verses here that the Lord

  166. visited. As He said, the Lord did as He

  167. had spoken, Sarah conceived at the set time at which God had

  168. spoken to him. So all of these things what what

  169. God his visitation, what he did and Sarah conceiving all of this

  170. wasn't taken Abraham and Sarah really by surprise because God

  171. said he would do it. God gave them the appointed time

  172. in which it would be done and so we can trust in the Lord brother

  173. makes them appreciative several weeks ago.

  174. It's a common thing the message that happens sometimes in our

  175. churches that just because God delays doesn't mean that God is

  176. denying and so that is a 25 year delay, but they weren't denying

  177. the child that God wanted to have them and no doubt they did.

  178. We looked at this, Sister Sam, that the Abraham and Cerebell,

  179. they have wrestled with the doubts concerning the promise.

  180. They've wrestled with the doubts.

  181. But I think it's important the first couple of verses, this is

  182. what we should do. When you wrestle with the

  183. doubts, with what God has promised, then you must go back

  184. to what God said. You must go back to what God

  185. said and God makes good on his promises, not just here, but in

  186. other places. The Scripture, for instance, in

  187. Numbers 2319 Balaam, he asked a record, a rhetorical question

  188. about God's faithfulness that that were expected to be

  189. answered in the affirmative that yes.

  190. Whenever he asked these questions.

  191. Here's the rhetorical question he asked, he said, has he said

  192. he's Speaking of God and will he not do it or has he spoken and

  193. will he not make it good? Of course the resounding answer

  194. is yes, but that's speaking about your God.

  195. Solomon was given a blessing upon the congregation of Israel

  196. and he even spoke and said in First Kings 8.

  197. He said there have not failed one word of all his good promise

  198. Speaking of God. And so the Lord came and he, the

  199. Bible uses this word and this is important word here in verse #1

  200. He came and visited. He came and visited Sarah

  201. because that little word visit there in the Hebrew means it

  202. indicates a divine intervention for either blessing or cursing.

  203. So either way, and for this one, it is definitely for blessing.

  204. Either way, whenever God visits a people or a person or whatever

  205. it may be in Scripture, when He visits, there's going to be a

  206. destiny change. When the Lord visits, He won't

  207. leave the person, the place, or the location.

  208. The same when the Lord visits. And that's what happened to

  209. Abraham and Sarah. Isaac is born, the Scripture

  210. tells us, and amazingly, the Bible also tells us, and it's

  211. important that Abraham obeys God because in Genesis 17, again,

  212. God had already spoke to them. This is what you'll call the

  213. child. You'll call him Isaac.

  214. What do we see happen in this chapter?

  215. Abraham is calling that child Isaac, just as God prescribed.

  216. Also, though in Genesis chapter 17, it's in that chapter that

    Genesis 17 chapter mention

  217. the Lord made that covenant with Abraham and told him the sign of

  218. the covenant, that it was circumcision, That you should

  219. circumcise anybody that's born in your house or adopted into

  220. your household, whoever they may be, on the 8th day.

  221. You should do that because that's a sign of a covenant

  222. between you and me. What do we see happening now in

  223. this chapter? That Isaac is born on the 8th

  224. day. The Bible says that Abraham

  225. circumcised his son Isaac. This is important.

  226. After the promise was born in their lives they continue to

  227. obey God concerning the promise. Now let's apply that to life,

  228. that once you've received the promise, you need to continue in

  229. obedience with everything that concerns the promise.

  230. Oh Lord, that means it's one thing to be born again or

  231. receive the promise. It's another thing to walk in

  232. obedience to what God says is accompanied or attached to the

  233. promise. He was born, but He obeyed God

  234. as well concerning this, this promise.

  235. Abraham and Sarah, the Bible tells us that in the past, each

  236. individual at their own time, when they heard about the

  237. promise of God, they laughed within themselves, right?

  238. It was within themselves, yet God called Him on it each time

  239. because He knew their heart, He knew their thoughts, but they

  240. laughed within themselves yet whenever God told them about

  241. this. And this actually comes to

  242. fruition now in chapter #21 Now whereas before their laughs

  243. might have been some laughs of doubt or uncertainty or even

  244. amusement, now today though, Sarah is laughing.

  245. And it's a different laugh that Sarah has.

  246. There's not the doubts or the amusement, but it is the joy and

  247. the thrill holding what she wants, thought disbelief, could

  248. or was amused that may even happen now.

  249. It's a laugh of joy that's filling her life and she's

  250. hoping she's saying God's caused me to laugh and he's probably

  251. going to cause some other people to laugh in my life as well.

  252. Number one, it could be two different things.

  253. They might laugh at the absurdity of this old man and

  254. this old woman having an infantile child here in their

  255. hands, right? But they might also join in on

  256. the joy that this woman's been bearing for her whole her whole

  257. marriage, and now she's able to give a child unto her husband.

  258. So there's a lot of different laughter going.

  259. But maybe there's some critics too.

  260. You know how it goes. Everybody's OK with getting

  261. promises, but not OK with other people having them.

  262. So there could be something else.

  263. But none the less, here is Sarah.

  264. She is ecstatic and she knows unequivocally that no one could

  265. have predicted this but God. No one could have done what has

  266. happened here but God. A barren woman, a post

  267. menopausal woman, an old woman, 90 years old, an old man, 100

  268. years old having the baby. Gosh.

  269. Amen. The amazing thing about God

  270. concerned Abraham and Sarah is what seemed impossible in their

  271. lives. What seemed impossible in their

  272. lives had become the very place that God demonstrated his power.

  273. It was an impossibility, but God says watch.

  274. Watch what happens when I step into the impossible.

  275. Wasn't he not spoken with Mary concerning that?

  276. All things though are possible with the Lord.

  277. Amen. Let's continue with verse #8

  278. here. Sorry, got to get out my

  279. spectacles here. Although I see some among us are

  280. wearing spectacles now too. Congratulations, we love you.

  281. We do verse 8. So the child is born.

  282. Here we go. And the child grew and was

  283. weaned. And Abraham made a great feast

  284. in the same day that Isaac was weaned.

  285. And Sarah saw the son of Haggard the Egyptian, which she had born

  286. to Abraham Monkey. Wherefore she said to Abraham,

  287. cast out this bondwoman and her son.

  288. For the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son,

  289. even with Isaac. Please just note that Sarah

  290. never calls either of them by their name, she just makes

  291. references. Bondwoman, Son of the bondwoman

  292. anyway. And the thing was very grievous

  293. in Abraham's sight, because of his son.

  294. God said unto Abraham, Let it be not grievous in thy sight,

  295. because of the lad and because of the bondwoman.

  296. And all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her

  297. voice, For an Isaac shall thy seed be called, And also of the

  298. son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy

  299. seed. And Abraham rose up early in the

  300. morning, took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it to Haggar,

  301. putting it on her shoulder and the child, and sent her away.

  302. And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

  303. Now you have to walk with me just a little bit here tonight,

  304. OK? The whole Hagar Ishmael

  305. situation here that we read in Genesis 21 needs to be held in a

  306. little bit of tension through a view of New Testament Scripture

  307. where the apostle Paul writes in the book of Galatians chapter #4

  308. looking back on this whole occurrence.

  309. Because in Galatians 4, Paul identifies Ishmael as the one

  310. that was born after the flesh, and as Isaac as the one that was

  311. born after the Spirit. The one that was born first in

  312. Abraham's life was the one born after the flesh.

  313. The one that was born secondly in Abraham's life was the one

  314. that was born secondly in Abraham's life was the one that

  315. was related to the Spirit. So we need to keep that

  316. intention. Scripture bearing on Scripture

  317. here is vital for us going forward tonight.

  318. So Isaac was born, Let's just get real.

  319. Isaac was born of the Spirit because number one, by this

  320. time, by the time his parents conceived, they were fleshly or

  321. biologically dead. OK, nonetheless, when the Spirit

  322. wanted to bestow the promise upon them and it did, here is

  323. the amazing thing to me. Spirit want to bestow this upon

  324. two people who are biologically and fleshly dead, yet it still

  325. required in their involvement. Naturally, their bodies are

  326. dead, deemed dead. But I'm not going into all the

  327. mechanics of it. I think everybody's OK and we

  328. got young ears around here. But there was still involvement

  329. both for Abraham and Sarah's part.

  330. Someone say Amen. For me, In my view, this is just

  331. a beautiful picture of us receiving the promise of the

  332. Father because we couldn't make it happen.

  333. Bible tells us works couldn't do it.

  334. We couldn't make it happen. Flesh wise, there's nothing we

  335. can do, but God still involves and incorporates us in the

  336. process. He uses our mind, our tongue,

  337. other members of our human bodies, our intellect, and our

  338. obedience to bring about what only He can get the glory for.

  339. Which is amazing to me. Isaac grew, the scripture says,

  340. and was winged. Now here's the thing.

  341. I looked at this today. I looked at it several times.

  342. Isaac grew and was winged. In ancient Israel, mothers

  343. typically winged their children around the age of three years

  344. old. Around the age of three years

  345. old, they would nurture them, nurse them up into that period

  346. of time. The amazing thing concerning

  347. Ishmael, if you'll remember from our studies gone by, remember

  348. Ishmael had the right father, but he had the wrong mother.

  349. Do you remember that conversation?

  350. Because a Hebrew faith comes from the mother.

  351. A Hebrew is only a Hebrew if Mama is a Hebrew.

  352. Hagar was an Egyptian. Ishmael had the wrong mother.

  353. You remember I told you that whenever we talk about that,

  354. just for today's language, there's a lot of people that

  355. claim God is their father, but they don't have the right

  356. church. They don't have the right

  357. mother. And yet you're not a spiritual

  358. child unless you got the right mother and the right nurturing

  359. that comes from Mama. All right, well, in ancient

  360. Israel, here's here's Isaac, though he's got the right

  361. father. His mother is a Hebrew.

  362. She's she's Sarah. He's nursing there.

  363. And so three years in, she's going to wean him from nursing

  364. and they're going to have the Bible says a festival, a great

  365. celebration. As a result of all this, I start

  366. asking myself the question, Brother Fred, you know, I'm just

  367. I'm just Paul McGee living in this century.

  368. What's so celebratory about a child quitting nursing?

  369. I mean, I'm sure it is for the mother.

  370. But I mean, as far as gathering everybody around and let's have

  371. a big party, you know, Johnny's not going to be hanging on, you

  372. know, mother all the time anymore.

  373. Let's eat some roasted lamb and you know, all these things.

  374. What's so celebratory about that?

  375. What is celebratory about that is this is that there was a high

  376. mortality rate, high mortality rate for children for sure,

  377. particularly between that zero to three years old range.

  378. In that day, lot of children died, lot of children never made

  379. it. And so Isaac is here and his mom

  380. has nursed him and she has done this for three years.

  381. Listen to me carefully now, because she couldn't chance his

  382. survival without him having a purposeful attachment to her.

  383. Oh, Jesus, help me right now. He has the right Mama, but for

  384. good success, there's going to have to be a a concrete

  385. attachment for several years in his infantile stage in order for

  386. him to be able to survive. God hear me.

  387. What I'm saying tonight is we get, we get born by the promise,

  388. but sometimes we're not staying at mother's breast drinking the

  389. sincere milk in order to mature and grow in stamina enough that

  390. we can survive after our new birth.

  391. Come on, come on. A purposeful attachment is

  392. necessary. Yes, with the church, but mostly

  393. after you first come to know him.

  394. Because you know what I found out?

  395. People sometimes get the Holy Ghost, their greatest battles,

  396. right after that, soon as they exit the double doors, it's on

  397. them like Donkey Kong. You know what they need?

  398. They need to be able. There's hours and hours they're

  399. being cradled in the arms of Mama, hours upon hours they're

  400. laying in her breast, hours and hours that they're being

  401. nurtured and they're being Amen. Because now if this infant gets

  402. to a toddler stage three years in, they'd said this is not me,

  403. this is culture. They said it was reasonably sure

  404. that the child was past that, that stage of of possibility

  405. being one of those deaths that it was reasonably sure that they

  406. would live. That's the reason why there was

  407. a celebration at the weaning because everybody's wiping their

  408. brow about whether or not the child would die from zero to

  409. three years old if they would make it or if it would be laying

  410. the grave. But once they got to the three,

  411. they were pretty sure that he was going to be able to make it.

  412. And so they gather all the family and rejoicing because

  413. this child's going to be able to live because he had a concrete

  414. attachment to Mama for the first 3, someone say Amen.

  415. It necessitated a celebration, especially for this couple

  416. that's been barren for so long. The last thing you want is a

  417. child born and dying in the first three years for someone

  418. that's waited 25 years for their And here's the interesting thing

  419. though, and you read it just right down through there.

  420. They had this festival. He's winged in verse 9 is where

  421. you see them. The mocking as it's described in

  422. the King James Bible of Ishmael, the first born toward Isaac, the

  423. second son of Abraham. The Bible says that Ishmael, if

  424. I'm put in these terms, the son of the flesh mocked as the King

  425. James says, the son of the promise.

  426. One ancient translation says that he was playing with her son

  427. Isaac. There are other tenses that I

  428. could get into it, but I I don't want to bore you all out of your

  429. gourd, but a certain verb tense that this is used compared to

  430. cause the word mocked here is the same word as Isaac's name.

  431. Isaac's name is Yitzhak in in Hebrew, same word, but it's a

  432. different tense. And as a result of it, the verb

  433. stem here means to jest, to make sportive, to play with, not

  434. simply just to laugh. And so there's a lot of

  435. different ideas out there. And I don't know if anybody

  436. knows for sure what it was that Sarah saw, but note that

  437. whatever she saw took place at the celebration or shortly

  438. thereafter what she saw. Some believe that they saw what

  439. now was a three-year old Isaac being scoffed at or made fun of

  440. by Ishmael, who is now every bit of 16 to 17 years old.

  441. Others see a Ishmael that is laughing and Sarah seeing

  442. another boy, the product of the flesh, laughing, attempting to

  443. fulfill Isaac's namesake, which is laughter.

  444. Whatever she saw, it triggered something inside of that Mama

  445. that she come to the realization and told her husband that I

  446. don't want Ishmael to be an heir with Isaac again.

  447. We don't hear about it like there were three years.

  448. We don't hear anything about this until the celebration until

  449. the someone say until the celebration because it wasn't

  450. until the celebration. Follow me here that Ishmael

  451. didn't have any certainty that Isaac was going to survive until

  452. the weaning moment. So why in the world even mess

  453. with it? He might not survive anyway.

  454. But once you reach the stage that you prove the statistics

  455. wrong, God Almighty and all the naysayers wrong, and you're

  456. still here the third year and you're still here the 4th year

  457. and you're still maturing and God the 5th year and you're

  458. climbing up higher from where you started the 6th year and the

  459. 7th year. You've involved yourself in the

  460. body and you're doing things to help see others.

  461. And by the 8th year, you're, you're winning people to God.

  462. And by the 9th year, do you understand what I'm saying?

  463. Once you reach a stage that they say, hey, wait a minute, there's

  464. a certainty here that they're going to be able to survive.

  465. They're going on. That's when your flesh wants to

  466. rear its head and say, hey, wait a minute, I got some competition

  467. on my hand. Because what you were first born

  468. into, Brother Trout, was your flesh.

  469. What you was first born in into Brother Fred, was your flesh.

  470. And how old were you whenever you got the Holy Ghost?

  471. Come on, Sister Sheila, do the math.

  472. We'll go over here. Reese, what age were you when

  473. you got the Holy Ghost? 17.

  474. The Flesh has had 17 years with him.

  475. Do you hear me? The Flesh has had 17 years him.

  476. But when he gets the promise, it's starting right there at 17.

  477. 17 years the flesh has had his way with him. 17 years the flesh

  478. has been able to weave itself into his heart. 17 years the

  479. flesh has been able to weave himself in his mind.

  480. But now there's a Isaac on the scene and the flesh is wondering

  481. what's going on. But we're waiting one year and

  482. then two year and three years. He stayed attached to Mama.

  483. He's been nurtured by Mama. I think he might survive.

  484. And the flesh is, I got competition on my hand, I can't

  485. have that. And troubles him, and tempts

  486. him, and tries him because. I'm I'm like border lighting

  487. treat you in here. You know you what's amazing Ray

  488. your flesh didn't think he was going to survive it never raised

  489. a hand or gave any qualms until they still see you there so many

  490. years now coming to the church, him baptizing Jesus name and

  491. filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  492. And it says she's still here and it begins to mock and play and

  493. spore and jest and antagonize and someone said I'm still here.

  494. Yes. Ishmael realizes his

  495. competition, all that nourishing he received from his mother, all

  496. that nurturing he received from his mother has brought Isaac to

  497. a level of maturity that he isn't solely dependent upon mom,

  498. that there's been enough take place in that time frame that he

  499. can stand on his own 2 feet. Brother Mickey, what are you

  500. talking about? OK, case in point, Moses.

  501. Moses. During that day, all the boys

  502. were to be thrown into the river.

  503. Bible says Jacobet saw that Moses was a goodly child.

  504. She hid him away. She made him a basket of bull

  505. rushes, put him into the river. Pharaoh's daughter found him.

  506. Miriam, Moses's sister, talks to Pharaoh's daughter.

  507. Do you need a nurse for him? Yeah, I do.

  508. Miriam go gets her Mama Jochebed.

  509. That was Moses's mother. He's he is now under the care of

  510. the daughter of Egypt, but he's being nurtured for and fed by

  511. his Hebrew Mama. And the Bible says when the time

  512. comes, he's taken into the palace of Pharaoh.

  513. But he said, I'd rather suffer the afflictions with the people

  514. of God. And what how's that happened?

  515. I tell you how that happens. For all those years of nurturing

  516. and nursing, he had attachment to Mama and now he had grown to

  517. a place of maturity. He can stand on his own in the

  518. palace of Egypt and say, this is not my lot in life.

  519. I know who's I am. It's.

  520. He's listen, I'm not saying, well, if you can just be three

  521. years in the church, all your problems go away now.

  522. Wrong. That's when Ishmael is going to

  523. show up. Well, I'm saying we've made it

  524. through some rocky roads if we can get through those first few

  525. years of living for the Lord with the promise He's birthed in

  526. our lives, we've made it through some iffy spots.

  527. Galatians 429. I got to hurry.

  528. It's my famous words. Now listen, I didn't get through

  529. everything. I wanted to get through today to

  530. be here. This is what Paul reflecting

  531. back on this time. This is what he said.

  532. But as then he that was born after the flesh, Ishmael, and

  533. it's there in Galatians where you can read all of the chapter

  534. persecute everybody say persecuted him, meaning Isaac

  535. that was born after the Spirit. Even so it is now Paul inspired

  536. by the Holy Ghost. He takes his back on what was

  537. happening with Isaac and Ishmael.

  538. He gives the definitive definition in my estimation.

  539. He says Ishmael was persecuting him.

  540. The Son of the flesh was persecuting the Son of the

  541. spirit that we're persecuting. The Greek means to put to

  542. flight, to chase away, to pursue.

  543. He's being hard on the old boy. But what that interprets for me

  544. is that your flesh, the Son of the flesh, is not happy with the

  545. growth of the promise. For sure.

  546. You're not happy with the growth of the promise to have a more

  547. substantial, secure standing in His existence than He did at His

  548. birth. So my word to you is this,

  549. Sister Amaya, you better expect conflict when you start growing

  550. in the Spirit. As you grow stronger in God,

  551. that gets the attention of Ishmael.

  552. And the Spirit, or the flesh rather, will always want to come

  553. along and resist the Spirit's maturity.

  554. Yes, Sir. Yeah, that's right.

  555. It's hard times. I know.

  556. Sometimes we say I just don't understand why this is

  557. happening. You need to reflect.

  558. Have you been trying to make strides and growth patterns in

  559. God? Because if so, he's going to put

  560. all the the blockades and all the speed bumps in your path to

  561. try to prevent that. He's he is afraid of someone

  562. that is growing in their experience.

  563. It's one thing to get born again and always be in diapers and

  564. sucking your thumb and cooing and all that, but it's another

  565. thing to learn how to start to walk and talk and articulate

  566. what you have subscribed to. You're dangerous in the eyes of

  567. your flesh. So Sarah tells whatever she

  568. observes her, the the mocking, the jesting, the persecuting, or

  569. maybe just seeing those two children even playing there.

  570. Both of those are Abraham's kids.

  571. One of those is mine. One of those is Egyptian and

  572. just starts processing maybe the past 25 years.

  573. And she tells Abraham Ishmael's not going to be an heir or an

  574. inheritor with Isaac. So she comes up with this

  575. brilliant idea. I want you to cast out again.

  576. She don't mention them by names. I want you to cast out the

  577. bondwoman. So what?

  578. Galatian 4 even in reference to us along with the child, the

  579. amplified, the classic amplified version version says it like

  580. this. I don't want him to inherit

  581. anything. It should all go to my son.

  582. Now here's the interesting thing about that culture.

  583. In time, Sarah, She can request the banishment, but it's

  584. Abraham's responsibility to issue the banishment.

  585. Sarah can do what she pleases with Hagar, but Hagar is her

  586. handmaiden. It belongs to Sarah.

  587. She belongs to Sarah. But the child Ishmael belonged

  588. to the man who sired it, Abraham.

  589. Because whenever Abraham accepted Ishmael and has his

  590. son, you know what that meant. That meant then that son was

  591. entitled to inherit part of Abraham's estate.

  592. But here's the caveat. If a person releases an enslaved

  593. person like Hagar and for sure the son, then along with her

  594. then they lose rights. To inherit any property of the

  595. estate. So when Abraham let them go,

  596. particularly when he let Ishmael go, Ishmael now has no rights as

  597. an heir to Abraham's portion. Someone say Amen.

  598. Now here's here's the real life stuff, folks.

  599. Upon first mention of having his wife tell him, why don't you

  600. cast out Hagar and Ishmael? This kind of sets a little heavy

  601. for Abraham. I mean as as as Sarah, not my

  602. boy. You know what I mean?

  603. And I know I had the bright idea for this whole scheme to begin

  604. with, but not my boy. But this was flesh and blood of

  605. Abraham, if you'll remember even that I don't know, several,

  606. several times ago there came a portion in, in I think it was

  607. Genesis 16, that whenever all this covenant was being made and

  608. it was brought up again that they would have a son, that

  609. Abraham even raises his hand and says, Lord, what about Ishmael?

  610. Let Ishmael live before you. And God even told him then, oh,

  611. bless Ishmael. But my covenant that's that's

  612. that's with Isaac. All right.

  613. And so whenever this is first mentioned to Abraham, the Bible

  614. says that he's very grievous, which means he shook violently.

  615. He's very grievous again. Why brother Reese?

  616. Because he's had 16 or 17 years with Ishmael.

  617. Mr. Merlin. I mean, you're oldest Graceland.

  618. That's asleep up here in my wife's lap.

  619. Are you asleep, Gracely? She is.

  620. How old is she? Right.

  621. Even Brother Zach couldn't imagine her with being without

  622. her at this juncture in the road of your life.

  623. Just because how she has woven her life into yours.

  624. Here's Abraham, 16 to 17 years of the weaving of the sun of the

  625. flesh into the life of Abraham. But God has already set the

  626. expectations. Again, I'll bless Ishmael, but

  627. my covenant is with Isaac. And so here again then in our

  628. chapter, God is affirming that He tells even Abraham he'll

  629. become a great nation. Ishmael was, and the only reason

  630. that's possible is because of his relational attachment to

  631. Abraham. Abraham's going to make you a

  632. great nation. There's a lot of people that

  633. came from Abraham's bowels that wasn't through Sarah, that still

  634. became quote UN quote, great nations just because of their

  635. association with Abraham. But the seed, the Bible said

  636. would be called in Isaac. The seed that's most important

  637. in particular is that we trace all the way into the New

  638. Testament of the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

  639. That's not coming through Ishmael.

  640. It's coming through the seed of promise that's coming by Isaac.

  641. The Bible says in Romans 9 and verse number 7 and now skip up

  642. just verse 5 and grab the phrase verse 5 says of whom as

  643. concerning the flesh of Christ came.

  644. It's Speaking of of the seed. Neither because verse 7 neither

  645. because they are the seed of Abraham.

  646. Are they all children? But in Isaac shall the seed be

  647. called? That's the line of direction.

  648. Now let's go on a little further.

  649. I'm doing 3941. You guys ahead of me, I'll go by

  650. my clock. Amen.

  651. Divine, Divine assurance, You only do it whenever it's

  652. favorable to you. Divine assurance, though, had

  653. Abraham consenting to do what his wife asked him to do.

  654. It wasn't just that she asked, but God said, and ladies, let me

  655. tell you, if you want to underline and highlight a verse

  656. of the Bible, this is the one to highlight and I'm going to read

  657. it from the ESB because it's just more poignant.

  658. The Bible says God said this. Whatever Sarah's Sarah says to

  659. you, he's speaking to Abraham. Whatever Sarah says to you, do

  660. as she tells you, underline it, write it down and vote it.

  661. That's one that you want to take home.

  662. He's basically whatever Sarah said.

  663. Go on, go on with that. Alex has just highlighted it so

  664. he knows to make sure his wife doesn't use it.

  665. He's up here like so he for him did as Hagar, as Hagar said and

  666. as God encouraged, he sent away Hagar in Ishmael.

  667. And here's something what I want to know, the difficulty of

  668. separating from the sun of flesh that's been in your life, the

  669. difficulty separating from the Son of flesh that's been in your

  670. life. Because we note the struggle the

  671. Bible says talks about him giving them provisions of bread

  672. and water, and then they wandered in the wilderness.

  673. But look, look at the struggle here of the sending off of the

  674. Son of the flesh. The Bible says that he rose

  675. early in the morning. He rose early in the morning.

  676. Verse #14 Some might say, well, he's just being quick to obey.

  677. But I sense with the other things that I read, Sister

  678. Sheila, that he doesn't necessarily want to see anybody,

  679. doesn't want anybody to see him doing what he's doing, telling

  680. this boy that's been born with an Egyptian, the son of his

  681. flesh, that it's time for you to go.

  682. He gets up early in the morning and he does this.

  683. And I think the order is important.

  684. He gives her bread. He gives her water first.

  685. The Bible talks about him placing that bottle of water on

  686. her shoulders. All right, or on her shoulder

  687. just for a moment. A goat skin for water held about

  688. 3 gallons. That's about 30 lbs of water.

  689. So he's placing this on her back lot of people interpret well

  690. she's placing the and he says in child.

  691. Well, she's placing Ishmael on her back.

  692. No Ishmael 1617 years old. I don't know anybody around here

  693. wants to give their 17 year old a piggyback right along with 30

  694. lbs of water on their back. That's not happening.

  695. But he's placing the look what he's doing Bishop, here's

  696. provision, here's water. Oh here, let me get that on your

  697. back. But then the child, he's doing

  698. everything he can do up to the point of having to release the

  699. child. He could have did the child

  700. first, no. And then did the bread and the

  701. water, No. But he's doing everything he can

  702. do until the moment comes. He's got to then entrust the

  703. child into the hands of that Egyptian woman.

  704. Oh, listen folks, because I see this in my life.

  705. I see it in our lives. We don't want to part with the

  706. flesh. And so we'll do all everything

  707. else we can do to buy us a little bit more time without

  708. having to take it and say you need to go now.

  709. I'll find things, I'll invent things.

  710. You need bread, you need. Oh, what else can I do?

  711. What without addressing what God said needed to be addressed?

  712. Please understand, God didn't say anything about giving her

  713. bread or water. The mandate was let them go.

  714. But He's given bread and water and that's fine.

  715. I think that, I mean, as long as we live in this earth, we still

  716. got to have this flesh to a degree.

  717. You understand what I'm saying. But nonetheless, so He's doing

  718. everything he can because he's committing trusting the Son of

  719. his flesh to her. I think it's a telling of of his

  720. attachment that has grown. Alan P Ross and I got to hurry.

  721. I know I've just said it three times.

  722. Whatever Alan P Ross said, the divine approval of sending away

  723. Hagar in Ishmael was a sign not of divine abandonment of

  724. Ishmael, but of protection for Isaac that these two couldn't

  725. coexist, both couldn't be heirs properly.

  726. And we even see later in Abraham's life after Sarah dies,

  727. the Bible talks about how he has another wife, Katura, and they

  728. have children. And this is what the Bible says

  729. concerning that in order in order to preserve the Isaac in

  730. his life, the promise in his life, those other sons he sent

  731. away as well. Look at it.

  732. Genesis 25. I'm coming, I'm coming to the

  733. land, and I see the tarmac. Amen.

  734. Genesis 25 and verse 5 And Abraham gave of all that he had

  735. unto Isaac. What is that?

  736. No parting or portioning out the estate.

  737. It all goes to Isaac, every last bit.

  738. How's that happened? Verse 6 But unto the sons of the

  739. concubines which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts and sent them

  740. away from the promise, from Isaac his son, while he yet

  741. lived eastward unto the E country.

  742. So it just wasn't a Ishmael thing.

  743. Anything else that was going to come and be competition for the

  744. promise. He says you can be blessed and

  745. I'll give you gifts, but you can't stay here.

  746. Don't say that. Now the very last portion of

  747. verse 14 will set us up for next week.

  748. That gave you great comfort. I see the amplified classic

  749. Bible says this, the last phrase of verse 14.

  750. And she, Speaking of Haggar, wandered on aimlessly and lost

  751. her way in the wilderness of Beersheba.

  752. And the root of the word wondered in the Hebrew is

  753. describing like strain, animals or a person who is lost.

  754. So next week we'll begin to investigate what God can do with

  755. people who have lost their way while tending to the sons of

  756. their flesh. Stand with me tonight.

  757. So the weaning, the weaning moment just wasn't a

  758. celebration. It was a revelation to show that

  759. God's promises and dirt right that His covenant prevailed, and

  760. ultimately that the Spirit's work surpasses all efforts of

  761. the flesh. And Isaac survived Sister Abby

  762. because he belonged to the promise, when Ishmael, though he

  763. had been born of Abraham, was of the flesh, and he would not

  764. inherit what God had ordained for the Spirit.

  765. Even the book of Corinthians tells us that certain reason why

  766. some people have a hard time with spiritual things is because

  767. their carnal mind can't comprehend that which was first

  768. was carnal and that which was second was spiritual.

  769. And people are grappling with spiritual concepts and spiritual

  770. things when they're still sons of flesh.

  771. But whenever you're born again, the Bible talks about how the

  772. Holy Ghost to lead you and guide you into all.

  773. There comes an understanding of revelation.

  774. Here's what I know tonight, that God is probably doing a similar

  775. work in our lives tonight. And here's the question, though

  776. I have for us. Have you reached your weaning

  777. moment yet? Have you reached your weaning

  778. moment? That moment when the promise

  779. becomes visible and tangible? That moment when there might

  780. come some extra opposition and doubt or even mockery from the

  781. flesh or even the world because you reached a moment they're

  782. like, surely there's no turning back after this.

  783. I tell you what I want. I want there to be a moment in

  784. my life that my flesh and the adversaries like he's too far in

  785. now. It would take a lot for

  786. mortality now. Our glory, the weaning moment.

  787. Doesn't that just have a nice ring to it?

  788. The weaning. What's your pastor teach about

  789. life? Oh, he teach.

  790. Talk about the weaning moment. Oh, God, we need your help.

  791. Let's talk to him right now and close here tonight.

  792. Father, I love you, oh God help me Jesus in my walk, in my

  793. process, God to have some apparent attaches the Lord to

  794. Mama. I pray God that there is

  795. nurturing, there is growing, there is stability, there is a

  796. life giving source to Lord Jesus that is happening God and being

  797. maintained right there. But God let there be also be a

  798. moment God when I can stand and I can walk and I can talk and I,

  799. I can make it and I, I still have an attachment, but it's not

  800. like that I had in those formative times that there's a

  801. certain amount of maturity and growth and stability and God

  802. there that we can March on God. The flesh is always beckoning,

  803. always calling, always the Lord trying to get our attention or

  804. God somehow divert our attention.

  805. I pray, O God, today it persecutes even today.
