Amen. Good morning everybody, the
-
House of the Lord and I kind of concur with Sister McGee.
-
I hope everybody just feels more rested at that extra hours
-
sleep. I told him in the back and
-
leadership prayer this morning. But the problem with that is
-
you'll start getting hungry while I'm not finished.
-
Amen. So what a responsibility upon me
-
today, Amen for that and it is good to see the different ones
-
Amen back. We're so good to have Jeanette
-
and Tatum and and the Reagan and Chase and everybody back with us
-
today. Amen the house.
-
Lord, good to have Holly with us years ago with the first church.
-
I was probably a senior or so in high school and teaching like a
-
preteen class at at at Kingsburg and Holly was one of the
-
students in my class along with like, let's see here, Alyssa
-
Sutton and Tyler Sutton and some others.
-
Probably I'd I'm not thinking about right now in the moment,
-
but they, they their family did just live right across from the
-
church or Sophie for her and her mom and dad were some very
-
precious people. They had the sweetest, sweetest
-
disposition and spirits about them and have a lot of treasured
-
memories Amen from them in those years.
-
And I know she does as well. Amen.
-
Thankful today for that going to be turning to the book of first
-
Corinthians, First Corinthians chapter #6 Amen.
-
This morning go to the word of the Lord.
-
You know what I love about the Lord?
-
He's just the Lord. I know that sounds whatever
-
cliche, but what it is is I, I don't, I don't have to like pump
-
God up. I don't have to scream at you
-
spit or anything like that. God can just be God.
-
But one thing I do know, when he enters a place, you know he's
-
there. You know, He's there, Amen,
-
Without a doubt, Amen. So I'm thankful for His spirit
-
and His presence. First Corinthians chapter #6 and
-
I'm going to read verses 19 and verse #20 today.
-
I am confident I will not get through everything I want to say
-
today. All right, I got, I probably got
-
more up here than what we're going to get through today.
-
As a matter of fact, I was several years ago, I was tasked
-
with writing something for like a symposium type thing for
-
organizations. So I did that.
-
And in the moment that I did that, I also got an app that
-
would just check my grammar just to make sure I was on, you know,
-
point because I am not a, you know, a doctorate in English or
-
anything of that nature or grammar.
-
And so I held on that for all these years and I just celebrate
-
I think 7 years with it here. And it told me that I have, I
-
have typed about 10 million words in those seven years
-
because week in and week out, Sunday morning, Sunday night,
-
Wednesday is easy for me, 6 to 8000 words a week.
-
And so I'm not going to spare you all of my words today.
-
Amen. First Corinthians 6 and verse
-
#19 The Bible says What Know ye not that your body is the temple
-
of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which he have of God, and
-
ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price.
-
Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which
-
are gods. This may be the first of other
-
things that will go along with it along the way here and there.
-
But just for a little while this morning, I want to minister and
-
speak to you in in title question form today.
-
Who owns you? Who owns you?
-
Amen. Let's ask the Lord to help us
-
today. Father, we're so thankful, God,
-
for your house, for your presence, for the joy of the
-
Lord that we have felt, God, the experience of your power, God
-
that has testified, Lord, your spirit is bore witness with our
-
spirit today, God, that you are here and that you have Lord
-
inhabited. Lord Jesus, God summoned this
-
place this morning. We're thankful for that.
-
I pray, O Lord Jesus, help us to learn of you.
-
God, in this moment will not fail to thank you God, for what
-
you accomplished in this place. In the lovely name of the Lord
-
Jesus Christ that I pray Amen and Amen.
-
Everybody say Amen, Amen. You may be seated this morning
-
in Jesus name, Hallelujah. I want to talk to you just a
-
little bit this morning, start to talk to you about this
-
biblical concept of what we call in Scripture redemption.
-
You read about it the Old Testament and you read about it
-
in the New Testament. This idea of redemption or
-
having been redeemed and throughout Scripture from Old
-
Testament to New Testament, the idea of redemption has to do
-
with ownership. It has to do with ownership.
-
For example, in the Old Testament.
-
We have a lot of verses today, don't we, Brethem Alone.
-
Yeah, he's shaking. You're going to track with me,
-
aren't you? Amen.
-
In Leviticus chapter 25 and verse 29, the Bible states these
Leviticus 25 chapter mention
-
words that and if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city,
-
then he may redeem it within a whole year.
-
After it is sold within a full year may he redeem it.
-
Choosing that word redeem a couple of times and the word
-
redeem has has similar meanings to when you think of redeem, you
-
might be thinking about buying or you might be thinking about
-
purchasing something, which in these cases that is indeed what
-
it is saying. But redeem takes something a
-
little further or a little deeper than just buying
-
something or purchasing something.
-
In the Bible. It's used in the sense of buying
-
something back that once belonged to you or purchasing
-
something back that once belonged to you.
-
And that is how it's used here in the book of Leviticus chapter
Leviticus 25 chapter mention
-
25. A man has sewed his home and he
-
has now the the privilege after year to buy it back or if you
-
will, to redeem it because it was his before to redeem it unto
-
himself. And so whenever we talked though
-
about buying something back or purchasing something back, which
-
is redemption, that also relayed to people who had been servants
-
or sold into slavery. That same terminology of
-
redemption or redeeming even someone is used in Old Testament
-
Scripture as well. For instance, in the same
-
chapter, Leviticus 25 and verse 47, the Bible reads like this.
-
And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy
-
brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, he says, and sell himself
-
unto the stranger or sojourner earner by thee, or to the stock
-
of the strangers family. What this is convey and is there
-
would be times whenever people lacked money or means for their
-
own lives and so they would virtually sell themselves out to
-
another for purposes of their means of just their home and
-
their family. And so this is what's taking
-
place. It says in verse 48, after he is
-
sowed, he may be redeemed again or bought back.
-
He may be redeemed again. One of his brethren may redeem
-
him and we'll see this in the Testament.
-
I think this is important this morning whenever concerns
-
individuals, individual could not redeem themselves.
-
No Testament Scripture, an individual could not redeem
-
themselves. They had to be redeemed by
-
another. And that's where we get this
-
idea that's in Scripture, oh Testament and New Testament, of
-
a kinsman or a relative Redeemer, a kinsman Redeemer.
-
We see this, a man in the Lord Jesus Christ, in his earthly
-
ministry, coming to be a kinsman, Redeemer for all of us.
-
But the Bible tells us, and we understand this, that every
-
single one of us that was born into this world, we were born
-
into a world of bondage. We were born into a place of
-
being a servant to sin or a slave to sin.
-
The apostle Paul wrote concerning himself.
-
This is what he said about himself in Romans 714.
-
He said I am carnal, sowed under sin.
-
That meant sin owned him. He was sowed under sin.
-
Sin was his master. But the problem with that, that
-
servanthood, or the problem with that slavery that Paul was under
-
is again, he was not then in a position to free himself from
-
that slavery. He was not in a position to free
-
himself from that bondage. He had to be set free by
-
somebody else. Someone else had to do the
-
redeeming for him. And we read in Scripture that
-
our great God and Savior became our kinsman, Redeemer by the God
-
who the Bible says in John 424, who is Spirit.
-
Timothy tells us that God was manifest in the flesh.
-
He became, if you will, one of us of like manner, and He came
-
for the purpose then to redeem mankind from that oppressive
-
power of sin that we were sold under, that that we were owned
-
by. We see this if you've ever read
-
the book of Ruth in the Old Testament, it depicts quite well
-
man by the name of Boaz. That shows and showcases all of
-
the qualities and qualifications of a kinsman Redeemer.
-
The Bible just real quick. And again, I know, I know I'm
-
not going to get through, so I'm not going to get in a rush, OK.
-
But the Bible tells the story there in the book of Ruth, a
-
lady by the name of Naomi and Elimelech.
-
During a time of famine that was in Judah, they sought refuge
-
somewhere else. And the Bible says they went
-
down to Moab. She and her husband and their
-
two sons, Malone and Chilean, went down there.
-
And while they were in Moab and they were there for 10 years,
-
her, her sons, you know, got sweet on a couple of the Moabite
-
girls and they got married. And then after a period of time,
-
Naomi's husband passed away. Her two boys even passed away.
-
And so she decides that she's going to move back home to
-
Judah. And whenever she does, one of
-
her daughter in law's, Ruth, decides to go with her.
-
Those famous words that you have in the wedding ceremonies of
-
I'll go where you go, I'll lodge where you lodge.
-
All of that comes from the book of Ruth.
-
What, what, what Ruth said dead unto Naomi.
-
And so whenever they came back, a man here is Naomi, here is
-
Ruth, they their the husbands are dead.
-
And so there was some land as a result of that that needed to be
-
redeemed. And Ruth even being being having
-
been the wife of one of Naomi's sons, needed to be redeemed and
-
and seed raised up into the deceased husband's name.
-
But in order to do that, in order for anyone to be able to
-
redeem them, there were some qualifications.
-
And the first qualification was they had to be related to them.
-
They had to be related to them. The second qualification was
-
there was a certain price that they had to be able to pay for
-
the redemption. But the last one, which is
-
really my favorite, is that they had to be willing to pay the
-
price. It's one of my favorite because
-
you can be related and you can have the means but not want to.
-
And that's what touches my heart more than anything because in
-
the image in the picture of the Lord Jesus Christ, we see that
-
he met all of those qualifications in order to
-
redeem you and buy back you and me from under the sin that we
-
were born into. The Bible Speaking of Jesus says
-
in Philippians 2 verses 7 and 8, it says and speaks to us how he
-
was made in the likeness of men that he was found in fashion as
-
man. He took upon him that the the
-
nature and the image of the seed of Abraham.
-
He didn't come down as an Angel, but he came down as man for this
-
purpose. He came to be related with you
-
and I who had been sowed in this because he had to be a kinsman
-
in order to qualify as the Redeemer.
-
But it doesn't just stop there. We understand through Calvary
-
and the death on the cross that we were purchased then by the
-
act that took place on the cross.
-
Acts 2028 says that we were purchased with his own blood.
-
The Bible even then tells us. In the book of Colossians
-
chapter #1 and verse 14, the writer writes.
-
The apostle Paul writes to the Church of Colossians and says
-
that in Christ we have redemption buying back in Christ
-
we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins.
-
Amen. And so we understand the blood
-
then being the purchase price, if you will, for that
-
redemption. So not only was Christ then
-
related, He became our kinsman, but he also then as virtue of
-
becoming a man, He had the blood necessary for the purchase price
-
of mankind under sin. But again, here's my favorite
-
one. In First Timothy 2 and six, the
-
the Bible says that he gave himself a ransom for all.
-
Now when you give something that's an act of your will, that
-
means not only was he my kin, not only did he have the price
-
that was needed to pay, but by His will He willingly offered
-
that blood. He willingly offered that life
-
so that you and I could be purchased or redeemed from under
-
the sin and slavery of sin that we were born into.
-
Something interesting this morning in Colossians 114, where
-
it says we have redemption through His blood, the
-
forgiveness of sins. I think it's important to see a
-
connection between the redeeming blood and the forgiving blood.
-
Amen. Because you cannot have one
-
without having the other. The redeeming blood and the
-
forgiving blood I, I want, if we want the forgiveness that comes
-
through the blood, and I do. I don't know about you.
-
I'm in need of forgiveness even from day-to-day.
-
But if we want the forgiveness that comes through the blood,
-
then we also must accept the responsibilities of being
-
redeemed, what being redeemed brings with it.
-
Amen. We're born again.
-
We're born again of the water and the Spirit, but we are also
-
both forgiven and we are purchased in by the blood of
-
Jesus Christ and we love that. I love, I love my personal
-
redemption story. I love the redemption story this
-
morning that happened today. I love that redemption story.
-
Amen. Because we've been bought at a
-
price. That price was not money.
-
Noted that price was not money as they would use in the Old
-
Testament times for redeeming somebody back.
-
That wasn't money. It wasn't a certain amount or
-
allotment of diamonds, rubies or or precious gems.
-
It was none of that. The apostle Paul said to us in
-
first Peter 118 that we were not redeemed with corruptible things
-
such as silver and gold. And then he goes on to tell us
-
about with the precious. Everybody say precious, but with
-
the precious blood of Christ as a lamb without blemish and
-
without spot. Folks, you should feel
-
privileged today that this isn't pennies that's been exchanged
-
for you. This has been life's blood of a
-
purpose, perfect lamb that's been exchanged for you.
-
And in that you have value. In that you have value.
-
And so, yes, it took the blood of Christ to redeem us right
-
from our sins. So I wouldn't suffer in a
-
devil's hell someday. And let's just note here, hell,
-
that's just exactly who it should be for just the devil.
-
Amen. So I don't have to suffer in
-
that one day. But let's think about this for a
-
moment. What does this really mean?
-
Consider this. Just walk with me here a little
-
bit today and I'll keep track of time.
-
I know we're a little later and you know, if I hear a stomach
-
growl, I'll for no sure. No.
-
Amen. But whenever a slave is redeemed
-
or a servant, his his relationship, his connection
-
with the previous owner is severed.
-
Whenever a servant is bought back from underneath the hand
-
and the power and the authority of another, then that
-
connection, that relationship is severed.
-
What that means is that servant no longer has to obey what that
-
owner dictates, says or wishes or desires, because he does not
-
belong anymore to that individual, that person, that
-
power, that sin, that practice. Amen.
-
He was redeemed from that. He was released from that.
-
The price has been paid so that he no longer has a say.
-
So in that individual's life, he is free.
-
But we must understand this, that that that servant's
-
freedom, though now is not just for his own purpose of whatever
-
he wants, because he's been bought by another.
-
He's not bought himself. He's been bought by another now
-
for that one's purpose. Oh, yeah, that I know it's hard
-
maybe to, to, to, to processing this in your mind, but what's
-
really happened is you've just changed owners.
-
You've just changed owners, you know, example in the Old
-
Testament scripture. And to see that whenever we're
-
redeemed, then we're redeemed for the purpose of the one who
-
has redeemed us. Hey, man.
-
Or for the will and desire of the one that has redeemed us in
-
the Old Testament. Whenever you read about the
-
children of Israel being an Egyptian slavery for you know,
-
4/4 centuries as it were, harsh slavery taskmasters.
-
They, they were made to make those Sphinx and things in Rome
-
historically Amen. That we can even see and read
-
about. And they went through a lot of
-
slavery type of activity and servitude unto Egypt.
-
But whenever God sent Moses into that arena to be the deliverer
-
for God's people, Israel, and they brought them out of Egypt
-
and they cleared Egypt and he had them prepared them to enter
-
into the Promised Land before they entered into the Promised
-
Land, this is what God had Moses speak to them in Deuteronomy
-
1515. He said, and down he's speaking
-
to the nation of Israel, the people that he had set free
-
redeemed. He said unto them, and thou
-
shalt remember that thou that thou was a bondsman in the land
-
of Egypt, and the Lord thy God. Here's the the verbiage we've
-
been talking about redeemed thee.
-
He said therefore I command thee this thing today.
-
So Moses was was spoken to by God.
-
He says before they cross into the promised land, I want you to
-
remind them that I'm the one that redeemed them.
-
I'm the one that paid the price to buy them back.
-
I'm the one that purchased them. Had it not been for my purchase,
-
they would still be in slavery. Had it not been for my
-
redemption, they would still be making a straw per, or bricks
-
perhaps without straw, making the cities for, if you will, the
-
Egyptian kings, he says. But I redeemed them to be my
-
people. I redeemed them to be mine.
-
I claim them as mine. I own them.
-
I own them and so they're no longer under Egyptian
-
taskmasters. They're no no longer under the
-
dictates of them. And but now that they are free,
-
that doesn't mean that they can just go gallivanting around
-
whatever they want to do. I own them and I have a pleasure
-
and I have a purpose and I have a future and I have a plan and a
-
dream and a vision. That's for them.
-
They don't have to do what Egypt says anymore, but they're under
-
new ownership. And he says, I've redeemed you.
-
And notice what the Bible says. He says God redeemed you.
-
Therefore I command thee this, this thing of you.
-
The thing that was talking about right here in this this context
-
of Scripture is that he was then commanding them to release some
-
of the servants that they had had at the end of six years and
-
and not to send them away empty, but but to bless them as they
-
sent them away. But there's several other
-
places, even in God's Word, where he often uses the reminder
-
of him having redeemed his people for a springboard, then
-
of what he expected from them because now he was their master.
-
Everybody doing OK, for instance, how many remember
-
maybe just a few of the 10 commandments in the Bible.
-
Maybe you haven't You put them in your lawn at certain seasons,
-
I don't know. But the 10 commandments in
-
Exodus chapter 20, you read the 10 commandments and you know
Exodus 20 chapter mention
-
you'll read the start of it typically in verse #3 thou shalt
-
have no other gods before me. And they go on, so on and so
-
forth. But before the 10 commandments
-
begin, we have verse #2 of Exodus 20 and verse #2 of exodus
-
#20 says here, it is a reminder for Israel.
-
I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the
-
land of Egypt, out of the House of Bond.
-
What is he doing? Reminding them of the
-
redemption, Reminding them that you're my people.
-
And after he reminds them that they are his, then he starts
-
laying out some expectations. Thou shall have no other gods
-
before thee. Thou shall make into the any
-
graven images. It's all just in harmony because
-
now I belong to someone else and so on and so forth.
-
It's not just an Old Testament story, it's a New Testament
-
story as well. You look in the book of Romans,
-
the apostle Paul, right into the church at Rome.
-
And again, folks, we have a lot of Bible today, Romans chapter
-
#6 and verse 20, the Bible says Paul wrote, he says for when ye
-
were the servants of sin, servants, you're in bondage to
-
that. That's what you were
-
incarcerated to. When you were the servants of
-
sin, you were free from righteousness.
-
Righteousness wasn't part of the game plan.
-
Righteousness wasn't part of the dream and vision for your life.
-
When you were a servant of sin, you did what sin wanted you to
-
do. Sin said go here, you went
-
there. Sin say say that.
-
You say that since they acts like that, act like that.
-
You did what sin wanted you to do.
-
You were free from any type of righteousness.
-
Hey man, you didn't have anything to do with
-
righteousness because you were a servant of sin.
-
But verse 22 tells us of this same of the same chapter.
-
But now everybody say, but now we all want a but now moment.
-
That's the redemption moment. But now being made free from sin
-
and become look at the verbiage here, servants to God, wait,
-
wait. I have not ceased to being a
-
servant. I've just seized who I'm a
-
servant too. I was a servant to sin, but now
-
I'm a servant to God. And he said, being a servant of
-
God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, all right, or
-
righteousness and the end everlasting life.
-
And so here's the fact of the matter.
-
Every individual up on the planet of the earth are in 2
-
categories. You're either a servant to sin
-
or you are a servant to God. We're born into the world as a
-
servant into sin. We followed the dictates of sin.
-
We follow the, the, the, the, the plan that sin has for our
-
life. But if you ever have a
-
redemption moment, the one that came to be your kin, the one
-
that was able to pay the price, the one that paid the price and
-
you receive his spirit and redemption happens, you're no
-
longer a servant to sin. You don't have to practice the
-
same old ways. You're a servant to God and
-
you're going to walk a different path.
-
And I love and I love being a child of God.
-
I love being a Christian. I love to be an Apostolic
-
person. I love to shout about my
-
redemption. Hey, man, I love to do that.
-
Yeah. Set me free.
-
But equally, as much as I want to shout about being set free,
-
are we equally excited about shouting about belonging to God
-
and following the plan that he has for us, Sister Ray?
-
Because in reality, my questionable sermon here today,
-
not questionable in the sense that it's a question title, He
-
owns us. Who owns us anyway?
-
Who do you belong to? Let's look at a few of these
-
things. Let's look at that, a little bit
-
of God's ownership here. Let's think exactly about the
-
New Testament, about what it says he redeemed us from.
-
Again, a lot of Bible here. Brother James is, I hope he's
-
doing OK. I'm not checking on him.
-
Is he doing OK? Hey man, we'll have a talk with
-
him after church. If not, we'll get him.
-
You know, we'll start letting him do finger exercises and
-
clicks with mouse and stuff. But nonetheless, Galatians
-
chapter #3 and verse 13 says Christ hath redeemed us from the
-
curse of the law. Hey man redeemed us from the
-
curse of the law. And by virtue of that, that
-
makes a way, a venue whereby we can receive the gift of promise
-
or the Holy Ghost. I want to celebrate that
-
rhetoric that I've been, I've been set free.
-
I've been delivered from the curse of the law.
-
Galatians 4 verses 4 through 6. You can read it.
-
The Bible says that in the fullness of time that Jesus
-
redeemed them who were under the law and he sent forth his spirit
-
whereby we grab ABBA, cry ABBA, Father.
-
It was a spirit of adoption. He adopted us, Amen, into his
-
own man. That sounds like something worth
-
shouting about and celebrating. We read in the book of time this
-
chapter #2 verses 13 and 14. We read that Jesus redeemed us
-
from all. Everybody say all.
-
I like that, brother Fred. I know it's just a three letter
-
word, but I like it. It's a big word in my
-
dictionary. He, he redeemed me from all
-
iniquity. He wasn't selective.
-
He wasn't selective from all iniquity to purify for himself a
-
peculiar special. Different people.
-
Zealous of good works, folks. That sounds Brother Pat.
-
That sounds like something worth celebrating.
-
I like the idea of being called one of God's special.
-
Peculiar, huh? That makes me feel good, Missy.
-
He looks down there and says, Paul, me.
-
Guess that's one of my special ones in the right way.
-
I know where some of y'all were going.
-
Fool me first. Peter 118 tells us that Jesus
-
has redeemed us from our vain conversations.
-
And here in the book, the Peter the word conversation is not
-
talking about your talk. He's talking about your
-
behavior, your conduct, your lifestyle.
-
He says he's redeemed us from vain conversations.
-
He, he's redeemed us from aimless conduct, from empty
-
conduct, purposeless conduct, feudal lifestyles that I was
-
living whenever I was a servant to sin, He's redeemed.
-
Don't you know when I was sin, I did a lot of vain stuff,
-
worthless stuff, empty stuff, purposeless stuff.
-
But whenever I came to God, he gives purpose to my life.
-
He gives purpose to my talk. He gives my God.
-
I feel the Holy Ghost right here.
-
Well, yes, that's the reason why the Rider in Ecclesiastes, he
-
goes through all Ecclesiastes. He's talking about life under
-
the sun. He's really describing Solomon
-
in a backslidden condition is considering living life under
-
the sun apart from God with a God absence in his life and he
-
says I did everything I built gardens, I I had empires, I had
-
money, I had anything I want he said, but it was all vanity and
-
vex station of the spirit. The word vanity there just
-
meaning empty. He was saying I went to discover
-
everything I could discover in this life without God and it was
-
all purposeless and meaningless folks.
-
That's what life is, being a servant to sin.
-
But when you find God, you'll put a purpose in your life.
-
You'll bring peoples out here wondering today, what is the
-
meaning of life? That just proves to me they
-
don't know my Savior yet. Because once you know him,
-
glory, why didn't you even look at the Book of Revelation?
-
We just did a little tiptoeing through the epistles a little
-
bit been Revelation 5 and 9. We read that Jesus has redeemed
-
us of every kindred tongue and people and nation.
-
That is a broad swath of people. But he redeemed me out all that
-
so that I could be made into him.
-
The Scripture says I could be made into our God, kings and
-
priests, that we should reign on the earth.
-
I don't know about you brother Fred, but going from Paul McGee
-
as I am assuming some Roe of kingship, pardon my robe,
-
kingship sounds pretty good. So not only were we redeemed
-
slaves of sin that now belong to God, but the Bible also
-
displaced that we have been in our scripture text this morning
-
that we have been bought and purchased then as God's house.
-
Know ye not that ye are the temple?
-
God has bought himself a house. God's bought himself a house.
-
He's purchased a place where he wants to do well.
-
I'm his. We are his Tabernacle, his
-
temple, his house, his habitation.
-
Am I doing OK? I won't hold you much longer.
-
I know where we're at. Is anybody getting hungry?
-
I wasn't until you brought it up, Brother Fred.
-
Years ago. Now see.
-
Trevor will be 17 in March. The summer before Trevor was
-
born, we moved into our house. Matter of fact, I think it was
-
the night or the night before the first night, the first night
-
that we stayed in our house, we learned that we were pregnant
-
with Trevor. To some regard, it means
-
Trevor's name. Trevor's name means home.
-
That was the first house we ever bought.
-
We, we had a trailer when we were younger, married and then
-
we went on this grand thing called evangelizing, going all
-
over the world and preaching in different churches for like 7
-
years. And then we came back home.
-
So we started late as far as having a house.
-
So we, we find out we pregnant, we got her home.
-
Trevor's name means home. And if you know Trevor, that's
-
Trevor's preference. He'd like to be home.
-
So if we were walking like in tandem with Old Testament people
-
that whatever you name your child is giving them their
-
destiny. We did it for Trevor.
-
That's where it's at. But Brother Fred, at that time
-
and all of you that are homeowners, you know that at one
-
time you went to the trouble of purchasing a house so we'd have
-
somewhere to live. For a while.
-
We lived in room #3 over here, my wife and I, and Mariah, room
-
number 3 was our home. Mariah got baths and Rubbermaid
-
containers because there isn't a shower or anything like that
-
around here. Matter of fact, one time, I'll
-
tell it again if I told her before we was going through
-
Walmart one time, she was young. She's only like a year and a
-
half, two years old. And we're in Walmart and we're
-
going where all the rubber make containers are.
-
And she's Mariah and her voice was lying and she's oh look, my
-
bathtub. And I'm thinking these people
-
that don't know are wondering whether we use a lid or not.
-
And I'm just. And now you're wondering whether
-
we did or not. And you see, Mariah, and you're
-
wondering more. Now I'm joking.
-
I love you, Mariah. I know you're hearing it right
-
now. So I'm just saying.
-
But just for analogy purposes, no analogy is perfect.
-
But just for analogy purposes, Sister McKinney, I went and
-
looked all at different houses, all across Mount Carmel,
-
different houses. And when we finally decided upon
-
the house, we chose the house. The house didn't choose us.
-
Matter of fact, we paid the price in order to obtain the
-
house. The house didn't pay me to live
-
in it. And that meant when we walked
-
away that day and the papers were slid and the keys were put
-
in our hands, Brother Fred, that we owned that house, that house
-
didn't own us. And once we purchased the house,
-
the house became subject to the will of Sister McGee and I.
-
When we first bought the house, the previous owners, I can't
-
remember all the colors, but in the kitchen, one wall was bright
-
blue, another one was yellow, and 1 was like a Peach color.
-
Folks, if you want to wake up in the morning, you come in our
-
kitchen, you eat yourself some egg.
-
But Tracy, it didn't take us long to talk for that because
-
that wasn't the previous owners house anymore.
-
Yeah, come on. We were living inside those
-
walls in every morning and eating at that kitchen.
-
That is our house. We we, we kind of started
-
fashioning stuff to our catering to our liking with that house.
-
But you know, if I wanted to, if I really wanted to, since it was
-
a subject to my will, if I wanted to, you could go by there
-
today and that house could be painted purple.
-
That's my house. I didn't paint it purple, by the
-
way. I did not do that.
-
If you know my wife, I would not paint that.
-
We'd be the Barney house on the block.
-
You know what I'm saying? I love you.
-
You love me where? But the house didn't decide what
-
color it was going to be. We did the previous owners.
-
When we first got that house, it was a pale yellow.
-
That was the previous owners. You go buy it now and it is a
-
Gray color because it was under different ownership before it
-
got to us. The ownership now that has it
-
reflects the people who own it. And again, I know every analogy
-
is not perfect, but as a as a homemaker, then brother Fred, as
-
a home home owner, I have certain responsibilities toward
-
my house. If something breaks in the
-
house, I fix it or I make sure it gets fixed.
-
If there's something that the house needs, that's on me
-
because I own the house. I'm responsible for providing
-
for that house. Someone needs to be real
-
comforted right here in the moment if you have a
-
relationship with the Lord, because if there's something
-
fixed, He's, He's responsible. If there's something you need,
-
my God, we'll supply all of your needs according to His riches in
-
glory. Amen.
-
Amen. And so, yes, but, but, but let
-
me be clear. I make the decisions for the
-
house that the house doesn't make the decisions for me.
-
And whenever I moved my house, yes, Sister Kristen, we were, we
-
were kind of intentional about the very own side of the house.
-
All right, wall colors. The house didn't have any
-
furnishings had to furnish. The house had to be attended to.
-
Amen. And at that point, when we first
-
moved in, I really wasn't concerned about the outside the
-
house and concerned about the inside the house because that's
-
where I'm living. So we did what we could do,
-
being the occupant of the house. We did start painting some walls
-
and just Mcgee's, you know, putting up some pictures, you
-
know, here and there. And what kind of curtains would
-
there be and where would the furniture go?
-
After all, it was our house. The Lord says.
-
The Lord says, and I won't hold you much longer.
-
I won't. I know.
-
What are you laughing about? That was my sister, by all
-
things. I'll call her out right here.
-
I'll say her name. Let me spell it for you.
-
It begins with an R. That could be several of them.
-
First Samuel 16, seven this, this is a scripture that often
-
people bring up. It's, it's whenever David is
-
going to be anointed as Israel's next king and, and the prophet
-
has come and he's looking at all the different sons.
-
He's like, surely the Lord's anointed is before him, Eliab
-
and the different ones before him.
-
The Bible says first Samuel 16 and seven that that man looketh
-
on the phrases. That man looketh on the outward
-
appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
-
If I could state it just another way, the owner looks at the
-
interior. But let me just pose some
-
questions again, though, to you in concern of everything I've
-
said thus far to you about redemption and who owns us, Who
-
does own you and who decides what your interior is going to
-
look like? Bringing it maybe to a little
-
bit more application for us personally as individuals.
-
Who determines what your attitudes going to be?
-
Who decides what your desires are going to be?
-
Who decides what your hopes and dreams are going to be?
-
What are your motives going to be?
-
I'm just wanting us to think here a little bit this morning.
-
Who, who, or what are you going to think about?
-
What are your opinions going to be?
-
Is it your owner, huh. Is it the owner?
-
Is it the occupant, or is it you?
-
Amen. Who determines what's important
-
to you? Who, who who determines what
-
your values are? Who determines what your
-
passions are? Who who determines what your
-
view is of what is right and wrong or good and evil, truth
-
and error? Is it the owner?
-
Amen. So we got to consider all this.
-
Who really does own me? And you understand that that'd
-
be a good. That's that's just a good, a
-
good place to stop where we begin.
-
Who who owns you, man? I tell you what, there's already
-
been enough that I've discovered what I've been redeemed from
-
that I'm starting to feel good about being under a new owner.
-
I'm starting to feel good about being under a new owner.
-
Amen. And if you, if you are still
-
living life under being a servant, as Paul said to sin or
-
sold under sin, that there can be an eviction note to put on
-
your heart's door and a new acquisition, a new owner, come
-
in. Amen, Hallelujah, someone say
-
Amen. Who owns you?
-
I want you to leave here today. I want you to think upon that
-
Amen for the next few weeks and days about who owns you and
-
think about if you will, the dictates and the plans of of the
-
each individual owners that we have in this life that is only
-
to sin of the Lord. Amen to consider that.
-
Let's bow our heads here this morning.
-
Father, I love you today, God, I love your spirit God, it is
-
sweet Lord Jesus, it is kind and his merciful, oh Lord Jesus, but
-
it is also a leader. It is also a teacher that guides
-
and leads and instructs Lord and we want it to have that type of
-
Lord sway and influence in our lives.
-
I pray, O God, today help us Lord to just rhetorically if
-
nothing else. Lord, consider who owns us.
-
God, I don't want to try to usurp the authority of the new
-
one who has ownership of me in my life.
-
Help me God, just to Lord, obey Lord and just be in love, Lord
-
Jesus, with being under new, new, new command, new new, new
-
direction, new New Hope and vision and dream God for my
-
life. God bless you people this
-
morning. God, we're thankful for what you
-
have done here today. Lord, your fingerprints have
-
been upon us and in our lives in this service, we glorify you in
-
the name of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah and the say a man, a
-
man who owns you today. Hallelujah.
