It's just like, you're going through one of those things

where everything just kind of compounds.

I just had to put new tires on the car because, you know,

of all the snow and stuff and all the traveling I do for work.

So that ended up being like $1,700.

And then I turned around and I've got,

I've got a rear shock mount that is bad.

Oh.

And that just rattles like crazy.

So that's, I mean, that's not going to be outrageous.

But again, it's just, it's piling on top, piling on top.

It's like, Lord, make it stop.

When it rained, it poured.

Yeah.

And they say those things coming through.

Let's hope not.

So what's it like to be a piggy?

It's got to be better, buddy.

And if you haven't figured, yeah, I'm halfway off my rocker already

because I'm talking and petting a pig.

And again, it's, we're running in a February, man.

And it's like, here we go.

Which me and it also means it's almost new studio time.

Going to go get the paint for our backdrop.

And I need to get with you because my daughter,

she has her own shop for cutting,

do it, excuse me, not cutting hair.

She's a stylist or whatever.

I've said the word wrong so many times.

Whatever she is.

But she had this really cool sign she got off the internet,

And I was like, sweet.

And then you and I talked about it.

It's like, yeah.

So yeah, we got big plans getting a crew together to get us moved

and it's going to be exciting.

We're going to be off the air for a little bit,

getting stuff ready.

We really are because as I've said, I'm very raw on this,

as you can tell.

Because if we're being led in the conversation,

we want to keep it real here.

And that's the main thing.

And you know, thank goodness David, he keeps me

and he has to edit here and there because I get a little too off the wall.

But again, if we can't be honest with one another,

then what's the point of doing anything?

Because I'm not going to put on a show.

You know, too many people put on a dog and pony show.

Try to impress people.

But you know, that's not our intention here.

We're real.

And that's where I think we connect.

Being real with you guys, our listeners.

Tuesday, we got way off on subjects and we started coming to talk.

We started talking about pornography.

Let's just say it's in the church.

It's everywhere.

And last Sunday was more, or last Tuesday was more on stats in that.

Let's dive into something a little deeper.

Why we lust?

David, you want to take a shot at that right off the bat?

Why do we lust?

Well, I think God made us to be visual people.

At least men are.

Men are visual.

We're visually oriented.

I mean, even just learning.

I learned better by seeing.

Right.

Then reading.

So I think that's part of it.

I don't know.

Maybe some of it is something is missing in your life in that realm.

We want to be loved.

Yeah.

Everybody wants to be loved.

Yeah.

Same for women.

But it's funny how we find it women generally, not to they don't like the physical part,

but it's that emotional part too.

It kind of goes hand in hand, at least with my own experience.

Where we just want more the physical part of it.

Right.

Where, you know, they want more than that.

And, you know, as you get older, I think you change too with men.

You enjoy that emotional, but we're wired different.

Let's just say we're wired.

Absolutely.

When it comes to, you know, uh, yeah.

So understanding the root and God's redemption.

So let me ask you our listeners, why do we lust?

Why do we lust?

Do you lust?

Well, I lust.

And hold on now.

Hold on.

It's just a cross that I think most men carry.

And I'm just being honest.

I'm not going to have David at it.

This one.

Yeah.

I mean, even though I'm faithful to my wife in the world's eyes, but there are times, you know, I lost.

And she knows it and God knows it because I have not prepared myself to go out in the day.

And again, God made women beautiful, David.

Yeah.

But it's that me.

I call it the second look when you go back and get the second look then you're in trouble.

Yeah.

I can look at a woman and say, wow, God, that's beautiful.

And keep moving and let it go.

To me, and that's just me, you're okay.

Wow.

That was nice.

But I'm not turning in into a sexual being.

A sexual object.

But when I do that, to me, I'm losting.

Yeah.

And I'm breaking that covenant with God and my wife.

So by the world's standards, yeah, I'm a great God.

I don't touch.

I don't, you know, but what about God?

And that's the most important in my wife.

So yeah, but again, I'm honest about it.

And I know I've shared this, but when you go somewhere, when you know you're going to see women in bathing suits, to me,

I want to prepare myself, talking to God, okay, Lord, give me the discernment, give me your, I need ability here from you.

Yeah.

The strength from you to not turn it into a sexual, you know, lusting fest.

Am I on?

Am I off?

What do you think?

No, I mean, I think you're right.

I mean, I've tried to abide by that second look thing as well, you know, the first one.

I heard a story of what I think several pastures have told it before, but it's the first look as God's and the second look as yours.

Yeah, I don't know.

Right.

I don't know what truth there is in that, but it's certainly a good thing to live by.

Yeah, yeah, it's again, I keep it simple.

It's the second look.

Yeah.

And that could be with anything that too.

That truck.

Oh, yeah.

Oh, baby.

We don't just lust after women.

That new boat.

Yep.

That new set of golf clubs.

Yeah.

But so and so he's using got that driver.

They'll add another 50, 75 yards to your swing.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I mean, let's break it down because we automatically think of sex women or men, but no, I mean, we can lust.

We can cover it anything.

We, you know, yeah.

So what we're talking about more on the sexual side of this now, understanding the root and God's redemption scripture focus James one 14 to 15 Matthew five.

27 to 28 Roman seven 18 to 25 and Galatians five 16 to 17 and Psalms 16 11.

Now, lust is one of the most common and least understood struggles in the Christian life.

Many believers ask, why do I keep struggling with this?

We often focus on stopping lustful behavior without understanding where lust comes from.

But scripture teaches us that if we went lasting freedom, we must deal not just with the fruit, but with the root.

Jesus did not lower the standard when he addressed lust.

He raised it.

Matthew 5, 2080 said anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

This tells us something crucial. Lust is not merely an issue of the eyes or the body. It's an issue of the heart.

We lust because desires was because desire was destroyed, distorted, distorted by sin.

God created human desire desire itself is not evil.

Okay. And Genesis God created humanity with the ability to feel attraction, intimacy, and longing.

And he called his creation good.

But when sin entered the world, desire became disordered.

James 1, 14 to 15 explains this clearly.

Each person is tempted when they are dragged away from their own evil desires and enticed.

Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin. And sin when it's full grown gives birth to death.

Notice that temptation works inside us. Lust is not something forced upon us.

It grows from within when desire is separated from God's truth and boundaries.

Sin, yes, sin takes a legitimate desire. And so it's legitimate. It's a desire. We were made for that.

And twisted into something else.

Center centered. And here's the big word David destructive.

How many marriages have been ruined by lust?

Countless, I'm sure. Yes. Who knows how many?

How many churches have been divided or destroyed because of a crucial member having an affair with somebody in the church?

Because of lust. Get into the root.

Many children live apart from mom and dad because that happened.

We lust because we are spiritually empty apart from God.

And it's the core. Lust is often a search for fulfillment. That hits home.

Lust is often a search for fulfillment. People lust not only for pleasure, but for connection, validation, comfort and escape.

Psalm 1611 says you must make known to me the path of life in your presence. There is fullness of joy.

When we are disconnected from God's presence, we look for fullness elsewhere.

Lust offers a counterfeit intimacy. One that feels satisfying for a moment, but leaves us emptier than before.

I'm going to stop right there for a minute, David.

How true that is.

How many people that are married or in a relationship after time, the spark kind of goes away if you know what I mean?

Men and women too. You want to be wanted.

You want to know that you still catch that loved one's eye that you still do it for them emotionally, physically, sexually.

But what happens when you know the kids are there, everything chaos, bills to pay, laundry to do, run, it's life, right?

Things start to change. There's a shift. And all of a sudden you're not getting what you need, or you're not giving what they need.

Okay, two way street. And all of a sudden you're at work and there's a member of the opposite sex who's feeling the same way.

Yeah. And it's it in yeah, a lot of times it does. I think it just starts out.

I'm going to call it innocent to we're just talking. You know, come like you and I we complain.

We're all dude. It's just the kids are driving me nuts, the car like what you were saying.

Yeah, it's just friendly talk. I get it, dude. I feel your brother.

Yeah. But when it's a man and a woman, what happens when you find that connection?

Oh, wow. You start finding yourself desiring to talk to that person more.

Yeah, because they get you and they actually act like they care.

And it builds and that innocent conversation turns into something maybe not so innocent until you find yourself in a pickle.

I really like this person. Still love my spouse.

But this person listens David. Yeah. This person seems to care.

She remembered my birthday or he remembered my birthday and gave me a card.

My wife forgot or my husband forgot. Then even our anniversary.

You see what I mean? My friends how it can happen because we as and this is just me and this

Greer disagree, but each spouse is failing to contribute to that relationship to give what the other spouse needs.

True. Absolutely. Yeah. So automatically it's like if you're not getting food or water, you're going to start looking elsewhere like cows.

If the pastures clean picked cow, he's going to jump the fence to get to the next pasture.

Yeah. You know, it's just I think it's an automatic. We want to be. Remember when COVID hit everybody remembers that.

I mean, we I was. You want to talk to other people. You missed that.

It intimacy and I'm talking about an intimacy of just good old conversation.

Yeah. It was rough. Yeah. A lot of people suffer from that.

So how many people out there today suffer married couples, Christian couples, where life has taken over.

And kind of put a wedge in between them. You know, it can happen to anybody. Could it not?

Yeah. You got to be aware of that. And thus.

That's where that lust, that root, that evil begins to grow.

And it's hard once you start, especially once that little boy, what do I do now?

And what happens when you cross the line, dude?

Yeah. There's no going back.

So something to think about my friends.

Again, it's that whole counterfeit intimacy. I just mentioned a few moments ago.

It feels satisfying for the moment, but leaves us emptier than before.

That is why lust is so repetitive.

It never satisfies the deeper hunger of the soul.

You think about that? How many things we have in our life right now? We deal with other than lust.

That's the same thing that we try to fill ourselves with.

Yeah. And it just creates a greater desire.

It promises relief, but delivers bondage.

We lust because the flesh wars against the spirit.

Even after salvation, believers experience an internal battle. Amen to that.

Paul describes his struggles in Roman 7, 18 and 19.

For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do.

But the evil I do not want to do, this is what I keep on doing.

Dude, that is so real.

Lust thrives when the flesh is fed and the spirit is neglected.

Galatians 5, 17 says, "For the flesh desires what is contrary to the spirit,

and the spirit what is contrary to the flesh."

This explains why will power alone is never enough.

Lust is not defeated by self-control alone, but by walking in the spirit.

My friends, let me say that again. Lust is not defeated by self-control alone, but the walking in the spirit.

When spiritual disciplines are absence, prayer, scripture, accountability, the flesh grows stronger.

We lust because we confuse love with consumption.

God's design for love is self-giving. Lust, however, is self-serving.

Woo, some serious truth on now.

And a marriage, dude, you got to give, right? You got to give.

You got to give of yourself to your spouse, and they need to give of themselves to you.

And again, when that stops, and I get it, man, and if anybody is out there saying, "Well, Jim, you don't understand, trust me, I do."

Life again, you know, there's only so much time in the hour and there's so much time today, and as you get older, you get tired.

Who wants to, you know, the husband might be willing at night and a wife's tired or opposite?

Or you both just collapse. Hey, it's date night. Hey, you're home by 8 o'clock and in bed.

And there ain't no hallmark moments going on, you know? Yeah, you're just tired.

But there's those moments where, and a man can feel neglected, dude.

I don't know if, you know, it's true. You know, and you just want to know.

And I think that's the thing, our ego, David, and this is bad, but as we get older, I think deep down sometimes we want to know we still got it.

Yeah. You know, that you could still, you still got game. Right.

And that's a problem there, too, because you got to keep that, no, you got to wife at home. Yeah.

You don't need to be, and I'll be honest, when I got married there with Carrie,

that was hard to turn off. I turned it off. Yeah. But from the lifestyle I was living before I was a big old flirt.

Can't be flirting anymore, dude. Yeah. You're happily married now. And I was.

And that was a challenge. I'm going to be honest. That was a challenge to, uh,

Nope. Can't go there, dude. You know, hey, baby, how you doing today?

Hey, good to see you, Joyce. You know, you know what I mean? It's right. Yeah. So again, it's an ego.

I can only speak for men, but I'm guessing women too. They still want to know that, hey, the husband don't care.

The wife don't care, but I just want to know. Yeah. Can I still turn your eye? Can I still turn ahead?

You know, again, just some honest, you know, what do you guys think about that? Let us know.

Guys designed. Now before I go any further though, it's cool to do it with your spouse, right?

And that's where keeping it fresh. You know, you know, you know, come on, man, don't wear your holy t-shirt when you're going out.

Did you go out, you know, fishing with my goodness, clean yourself up a little bit. Hey, tell your wife, man, you look beautiful tonight.

Yeah. Get her some flowers, you know, women want that and men you never know. You might get that new bowling ball or, you know,

golf club, golf club, you know, new shirt. You never know. Yeah. And again, dude, you got to laugh with your spouse, man.

Do you and Cindy have that humor? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We get each other in that regard for sure. Yeah.

Oh, ours is so sarcastic. It's and Carrie taught me that one, but that's our love language.

You know, now we have our other love languages too, but that's our, oh my goodness, we can get.

I think sometimes my mom's still wondering, how are you guys married? But again, it's out of fun. I mean, it's not crossing the line or anything, but.

Yeah. Oh, I get on her house. She laughs. And so I'm not going to do it because I don't want to embarrass myself, but I make fun of her laugh.

And then she'll come right back at me with making fun of me. You know, that's just our banter. Yeah. But it's ours. Yeah. And it works for us.

You know, but God's designed for love is self giving lust. However, as I said, it's self serving. First Corinthians 13, five says love does not seek its own lust does the opposite. It seeks to take use and discard.

It trains us to see people as objects, whoo, rather than image bears of God, this distortion affects relationships marriages and our view of others instead of honoring others as God's creation.

Lust reduces them to a means of gratification. That is why lust ultimately dehumanizes not only others, but ourselves.

We lust because it is a worship issue. Every human being worships something lust reveals what we believe will satisfy, satisfy us most.

Jesus said in Matthew 621, for where your treasure is there, your heart will be also when pleasure replaces God as our treasure lust becomes a form of false worship.

It promises what only God can truly give peace, joy and fulfillment. And that is why freedom from lust does not begin with behavior management, but with reordered love.

When God becomes our greatest desire, lesser desires lose their grip. God answers a new heart, not just new rules. God does not simply command us to stop lusting. He promises, "Oh, my favorite word, transformation."

Ezekiel 3626 says, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will remove you from your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."

Jesus offers more than forgiveness. He offers renewal. And as we abide in him, our desires begin to change, and yes they will.

Psalm 37.4, excuse me, Psalm 37.4 says, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."

This does not mean God gives us everything we want. It means he reshapes what we want just because sin is distorted, a distorted desire because our heart search for satisfaction.

Man, satis.

I'm sorry guys.

Easy for you to say.

Yes.

Search for satisfaction.

Man, all right.

I'm...

Satisfaction?

Satisfaction? Is that what you're going for? Satisfaction. That's like...

You can't get no satisfaction.

I can't get... Wow guys, I apologize. All right.

It's a good thing we're coming to you in here. Satisfaction apart from God.

Oh, man. I need hooked on phonics or something here. And because the flesh battles the spirit, but lust is not stronger than grace.

And finally, Romans 8.1 declares, "Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Freedom is possible, but not through shame, but through surrender.

When Christ becomes our source of satisfaction, lust loses its power.

God calls us not just to resist lust, but to experience a deeper joy when rooted in His presence, His truth and His transforming love.

Well, my friends, I just about does it for this Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Yeah, I mean, I think you hit it on the head with...

Life gets in the way, right? So, you know, I've got...

I've got a 10-year-old, an almost 10-year-old, an almost five-year-old, an almost three-year-old at home.

Our house is absolute chaos.

And my wife is with them all day long.

I am out of the house working, but I've got a very stressful...

Not physically stressful, thankfully, but mentally stressful a job.

And then we both come together in the evenings and take care of the kids and get it.

By the end of the day, we are shot.

Yeah, nothing less, really.

Absolutely, shot.

And nine times out of 10, you know, the kitchen needs clean.

We can't find the energy to do that.

Right.

We're just sitting on the couch just kind of staring off into...

It's quite a time.

Everybody needs that time to just kind of end it.

But there's only so many hours in the day.

And then, you know...

And before you know it, it's time to get up.

Yep.

That's a challenge.

I'm going to challenge everybody, start with myself and Mr. David.

What can we do this week to show our loved one, our spouses, our mom, our dad, whatever, that we care.

Just one little act, just one little simple act.

And dude, you're right.

It is so hard because it's day after day after day after day after day after day after day.

Once stopped, then stopped.

Yeah.

And before you know it, a month's past, two months have passed, and...

Yeah.

It's almost at times it's like you're living with a stranger.

No, I think God has never gotten that with Carrie and I, you know.

But it can happen.

It's like, I don't even know this person anymore.

Our only communication is about the kids, about the bills, about what needs fixed.

Right.

Nothing about...

Hey, remember when, you know, our grab-iner, and dancing, or holding her hand, or, you know, whatever you do.

We're just going out and sitting on a porch on a, not right now, but of course.

Yeah.

Or hey, you know what?

Grab the kids and let's go slide right, you know, or, you know.

Yeah.

And make a moment.

And they're making moments.

I challenge you to make a moment this week with your significant other, or whoever you love.

You know, your best friend, you know.

Take them out, buy them some tea, get them a package of jerky, send David and I something, you know?

Yeah.

Yeah.
