  1. Speaker 1: Whew!

  2. Brother Jim: You know it.

  3. Brother Jim: The boys are back in town.

  4. Brother Jim: Yes we are.

  5. Brother Jim: Ladies and gentlemen.

  6. Brother Jim: Boys and girls, boys and girls.

  7. Brother Jim: Thank you.

  8. Brother Jim: What was that from?

  9. Brother Jim: Was there a show?

  10. Brother Jim: They opened that.

  11. Brother Jim: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.

  12. Brother Jim: Julius Sumner.

  13. Brother Jim: Miller.

  14. Brother Jim: You probably didn't get him.

  15. Brother Jim: No. The physics guy.

  16. Brother Jim: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.

  17. Brother Jim: I remember him, yes, yes.

  18. Brother Jim: Hey, good late night.

  19. Brother Jim: You are getting the special edition of late night Bible bibs

  20. Brother Jim: and a prayer.

  21. Brother Jim: As David explained the other day.

  22. Brother Jim: On Facebook, we had some

  23. Brother Jim: technical difficulties with our

  24. Brother Jim: sound.

  25. Brother Jim: We moved over to the new room and, uh, you know, like

  26. Brother Jim: anything, you got some little bugs to figure out.

  27. Brother Jim: So, uh, you're getting a late

  28. Brother Jim: night edition special, so hang

  29. Brother Jim: on.

  30. Brother Jim: I got my Bigfoot hat on tonight because you never know.

  31. Brother Jim: David.

  32. David: That's right.

  33. David: It's after dark.

  34. Brother Jim: It's after dark.

  35. David: He could come roaming in here.

  36. Brother Jim: Wouldn't that be a great guest to have?

  37. Brother Jim: Man, we might hit the late night show syndicate with that one.

  38. David: We might have to open some windows.

  39. Brother Jim: There we go.

  40. Brother Jim: Yeah, but hey, welcome.

  41. Brother Jim: We are back this Tuesday, March tenth.

  42. Brother Jim: And it is time, my friends.

  43. Brother Jim: Time for Bible bibs and a prayer.

  44. Brother Jim: So instead of grabbing that cup of coffee and a little bit of

  45. Brother Jim: jet fuel, some turbo for your Tuesday morning, how about we

  46. Brother Jim: head out to the fridge and get a late night snack?

  47. Brother Jim: Ah, there's a good one.

  48. Brother Jim: David.

  49. David: Yeah.

  50. Brother Jim: What do we eat for the late night snacks?

  51. Brother Jim: Ah.

  52. David: Well, at my house, we just had a

  53. David: birthday, so we're going through

  54. David: birthday cake.

  55. David: That's.

  56. David: I've been getting the birthday cake late at night.

  57. Brother Jim: Yes. Birthday cakes always.

  58. Brother Jim: You know, we had a family get together Sunday night and my mom

  59. Brother Jim: made a chocolate cake and her chocolate cakes are good.

  60. Brother Jim: And there was one piece left and

  61. Brother Jim: I came in tonight thinking, oh,

  62. Brother Jim: you know, I'm gonna finish that

  63. Brother Jim: off.

  64. Brother Jim: Well guess what?

  65. Brother Jim: It was gone.

  66. Brother Jim: It was gone.

  67. Brother Jim: I was there and smell your breath.

  68. Brother Jim: AM I gonna smell cake?

  69. Brother Jim: And she's like, nope, I already washed it down.

  70. Brother Jim: But hey, go grab yourself

  71. Brother Jim: something to chew on or snack

  72. Brother Jim: on.

  73. Brother Jim: Or maybe you'll be watching this in the morning.

  74. Brother Jim: Whatever floats your boat.

  75. Brother Jim: Let's get her done, shall we?

  76. Brother Jim: And, uh, you know, again, uh, we thank you for your patience.

  77. Brother Jim: Uh, nothing ever goes according to plan.

  78. Brother Jim: We ran into some, uh, as I said

  79. Brother Jim: earlier, when we taped this the

  80. Brother Jim: first time.

  81. Brother Jim: It is amazing, David, what a church can hoard.

  82. Brother Jim: Oh, yeah.

  83. Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.

  84. Brother Jim: And, uh, if you see behind me here, we got thirteen foot.

  85. Brother Jim: We don't know what to do with.

  86. David: If anybody wants it, come get it.

  87. Brother Jim: Yeah, but that's the key word.

  88. Brother Jim: You gotta come get it and figure out how to dismantle this bad

  89. Brother Jim: boy and get it out the door.

  90. Brother Jim: So, uh.

  91. Brother Jim: But yeah, we're coming along.

  92. Brother Jim: Still not quite there yet, but we gotta still.

  93. Brother Jim: We've been scoping this out.

  94. Brother Jim: Got some good ideas.

  95. Brother Jim: It's just a matter of getting

  96. Brother Jim: everything out of here so we can

  97. Brother Jim: put our creative process to

  98. Brother Jim: finish out.

  99. Brother Jim: Bible bibs and a prayer.

  100. Brother Jim: But, hey, just to get us going here.

  101. Brother Jim: You know, David, I went to the aquarium this weekend, but I

  102. Brother Jim: didn't stay too long.

  103. Brother Jim: There's something fishy about that place.

  104. Brother Jim: So good morning, good evening, good afternoon friends.

  105. Brother Jim: Good morning, good morning.

  106. Brother Jim: And you know, with the time

  107. Brother Jim: differences, who knows what time

  108. Brother Jim: they're listening.

  109. David: I'm still messed up from that, I know.

  110. Brother Jim: Why do we do it?

  111. Brother Jim: Why do we.

  112. David: Do?

  113. David: I don't know.

  114. Brother Jim: Ah. But hey, welcome to the show.

  115. Brother Jim: Let's turn this from a conversation into an experience.

  116. Brother Jim: And I said, this is late night.

  117. Brother Jim: It's after ten.

  118. Brother Jim: So who knows what's going to be

  119. Brother Jim: coming out of our mouths

  120. Brother Jim: tonight.

  121. Brother Jim: But you know what?

  122. Brother Jim: Let's get to the good stuff first and all.

  123. Brother Jim: Been waiting for.

  124. Brother Jim: What's up everybody?

  125. Brother Jim: Now, if you thought that intro was good, it wasn't that great.

  126. Brother Jim: Just wait though.

  127. Brother Jim: This is where it even gets better.

  128. Brother Jim: Because if I, like I've said in the past, every mediocre host

  129. Brother Jim: and I don't know if I make that needs a great co-host.

  130. Brother Jim: And lucky got a great one in this man.

  131. Brother Jim: He's a man among men.

  132. Brother Jim: A face that only a mother could love.

  133. Brother Jim: The one Mr. David Keener.

  134. Brother Jim: Hey.

  135. Brother Jim: And plus, he's one of my best friends.

  136. Brother Jim: Good evening David.

  137. David: Good evening.

  138. David: I am probably the best co-host in this building.

  139. Brother Jim: So you know what?

  140. David: Oh.

  141. Brother Jim: When we were.

  142. Speaker 4: In the.

  143. Brother Jim: Afternoon after we taped the first two episodes.

  144. Brother Jim: We've got a great idea coming up.

  145. Brother Jim: And if you are a major league fan, are might be some surprises

  146. Brother Jim: in you because David does a great Bob Uecker imitation, let

  147. Brother Jim: me tell you.

  148. David: I don't know about great, but it's serviceable.

  149. Brother Jim: It's definitely doable.

  150. Brother Jim: But, uh, how is life in Carterville once again?

  151. David: It's, uh.

  152. David: It's good.

  153. David: You know, the weather's been nice the last couple of days.

  154. David: We did some, uh, we did some

  155. David: grilling out on the, uh,

  156. David: Blackstone.

  157. David: I did smash burgers.

  158. David: What was that?

  159. David: Sunday night?

  160. David: I remember one day it was.

  161. David: Oh, man, smash burgers are so good on that thing.

  162. David: And then grilled cheese tonight.

  163. David: Oh, yeah.

  164. Brother Jim: Yeah, I've been sporting a barbecue, too.

  165. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  166. Brother Jim: Now, unfortunately, uh, when I was going to barbecue the other

  167. Brother Jim: day, I had some chicken.

  168. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  169. Brother Jim: Well, last week I got sick and I

  170. Brother Jim: defrosted it, put it in a

  171. Brother Jim: refrigerator.

  172. Brother Jim: Right.

  173. Brother Jim: Thought it was still going to be okay.

  174. Brother Jim: Not so much.

  175. Brother Jim: Opened up a pan or a package of chicken and funky.

  176. David: Yeah, I guess.

  177. Brother Jim: Can you get this out of the house, please?

  178. Brother Jim: I'm like, absolutely.

  179. Brother Jim: Uh, but you mentioned.

  180. Brother Jim: Yeah, you got hit hard.

  181. David: Yeah. We got we have one in

  182. David: February and we have two in

  183. David: March.

  184. David: So I had, uh, one the first part of February.

  185. David: We had one last week.

  186. David: And then, at the end of the month we've got a third one.

  187. David: So I've got a ten year old, a five year old and a soon to be

  188. David: three year old.

  189. David: Woo!

  190. Brother Jim: So let's hear it for the man.

  191. Brother Jim: More or less your wife though.

  192. Brother Jim: That's probably the one that really needs the applause.

  193. David: She's just yeah I don't I don't know how she does it.

  194. Brother Jim: Yeah. I we stopped over, uh, the other day to visit some friends

  195. Brother Jim: here from church and, uh, you know who I'm talking about.

  196. Brother Jim: They got four little ones.

  197. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  198. Brother Jim: And they're down on the farm.

  199. Brother Jim: I mean, they are literally on the farm, and we stopped to see

  200. Brother Jim: their baby goats and chickens and everything else they've got.

  201. Brother Jim: And I mean, does it with four little ones trying to take care

  202. Brother Jim: of the animals.

  203. Brother Jim: And these are farm kids running around barefoot, getting in the

  204. Brother Jim: crick, splashing in the mud.

  205. Brother Jim: I mean, climbing up everywhere.

  206. Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.

  207. Brother Jim: Uh, I don't know if they watch or not, but I have to tell her.

  208. Brother Jim: Hey, we did a shout out to you.

  209. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  210. Brother Jim: Yes.

  211. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  212. Brother Jim: Yes.

  213. Brother Jim: But, uh, wow, I moms salute to the moms.

  214. David: Absolutely.

  215. Brother Jim: Yes. But, uh.

  216. Brother Jim: Yeah, we're here with Miss Ida Lee.

  217. Brother Jim: That is the official name of our pig now.

  218. Brother Jim: Miss Ida Lee, uh, one of our number one fans, Ida Walker.

  219. Brother Jim: Hey, and speaking of number one fans.

  220. Brother Jim: Peg Abraham and Ida Walker.

  221. Brother Jim: Good.

  222. Brother Jim: Ida said you need to name that piggy Ida Lee.

  223. Brother Jim: And I'm like, that is a great name for a pig.

  224. David: So yeah.

  225. Brother Jim: That works.

  226. Brother Jim: Yeah. And speaking of that farm

  227. Brother Jim: thing, David, uh, took my mom

  228. Brother Jim: over and she used to have goats

  229. Brother Jim: when?

  230. Brother Jim: Way back.

  231. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  232. Brother Jim: Big mistake holding that baby.

  233. Brother Jim: One of them little baby goats.

  234. Brother Jim: I mean, they are cute baby goats.

  235. Brother Jim: And then Carrie gets on the bandwagon.

  236. Brother Jim: We need one.

  237. David: Oh, no.

  238. Brother Jim: So stupid.

  239. Brother Jim: Me. I go down to the barn and I'm looking around.

  240. Brother Jim: I'm like, yeah, it's doable because I want to get a couple

  241. Brother Jim: pigs for our grandson, Dawson.

  242. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  243. Brother Jim: You know, plus, at the end of

  244. Brother Jim: the end of the growing season,

  245. Brother Jim: we got bacon, bacon and pork

  246. Brother Jim: chops.

  247. Brother Jim: But, uh, I'm thinking, what am I doing to myself?

  248. Brother Jim: I don't have time now, but

  249. Brother Jim: because, you know, it's like

  250. Brother Jim: anything, you want to make the

  251. Brother Jim: family happy.

  252. Brother Jim: So you go ahead and.

  253. Brother Jim: All right, we'll do it.

  254. Brother Jim: And then who's the one that usually takes care of you?

  255. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  256. Brother Jim: So, uh, I don't know.

  257. Brother Jim: I'm still wanting to beat.

  258. David: Well, as a as a city boy, I understand.

  259. David: What what purpose does a goat serve?

  260. David: Like you can't really get in.

  261. David: Do people buy goats?

  262. David: I mean.

  263. Brother Jim: Oh, yeah.

  264. David: They're they're really.

  265. Brother Jim: Decent. Yeah. Big. Now, like my

  266. Brother Jim: father in law, he is allergic to

  267. Brother Jim: milk.

  268. Brother Jim: He's not lactose intolerant.

  269. Brother Jim: He's actually allergic to milk.

  270. Brother Jim: So he has to really be cautious of.

  271. Brother Jim: But you know, goat milk pizza, the cheese goat.

  272. Brother Jim: And I've yet to bring myself as long as there's a DQ here, ten

  273. Brother Jim: minutes away from me.

  274. Brother Jim: You're good.

  275. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  276. Brother Jim: But I will do a shout out here.

  277. Brother Jim: Uh, a friend of mine, I met her here a couple years ago to craft

  278. Brother Jim: show she does goat soap.

  279. David: I've heard of that.

  280. Brother Jim: I tell you, David, it is the best soap you'll ever use.

  281. Brother Jim: And she does manly smells.

  282. Brother Jim: Manly.

  283. Brother Jim: Yeah, but I mean it.

  284. Brother Jim: I know I'm sounding a little foo

  285. Brother Jim: foo here, but, dude, it actually

  286. Brother Jim: makes you feel clean without

  287. Brother Jim: that residue.

  288. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  289. Brother Jim: You know.

  290. Brother Jim: So, yeah, try some goat soap sometime.

  291. Brother Jim: But, uh, now, of course, people eat goat, too.

  292. David: Uh, I'm gonna pass on that one.

  293. David: Probably.

  294. Brother Jim: I try, I try maybe.

  295. Brother Jim: Well, I can't say that if we get

  296. Brother Jim: some goats, I'd be buried

  297. Brother Jim: somewhere.

  298. Brother Jim: If that even crossed my mind.

  299. Brother Jim: I'm putting one on a spit, so.

  300. Brother Jim: Ah, I tell you, we're saluting the moms.

  301. Brother Jim: But the dads, we never win.

  302. Speaker 4: No.

  303. Brother Jim: We never win.

  304. Brother Jim: I say no to a dog.

  305. Brother Jim: Now we got two, you know.

  306. Brother Jim: You know who wears the pants in the Manbeck household?

  307. Brother Jim: All right.

  308. Brother Jim: Anything else going on?

  309. Brother Jim: How's the week going?

  310. David: Week's going good so far.

  311. David: Like I said, enjoying the weather, so.

  312. David: Oh, yeah.

  313. David: Gotta.

  314. David: I gotta travel up to Cleveland

  315. David: tomorrow for work, so we'll

  316. David: hopefully.

  317. David: hopefully they're still good up there.

  318. David: But yeah, we'll see.

  319. Brother Jim: We got some rain or something coming.

  320. David: Yeah, yeah.

  321. Brother Jim: Then next week we're down in the thirties not the and I'm praying

  322. Brother Jim: they're wrong on that.

  323. Brother Jim: You know it's Ohio.

  324. Brother Jim: You never know.

  325. Brother Jim: But yeah, it's just but we still got so much mud right now.

  326. Brother Jim: I've been moving some dirt and it's.

  327. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  328. Brother Jim: So but, uh, I did, uh, Monday

  329. Brother Jim: morning, got two injections in

  330. Brother Jim: my back and I'll give a shout

  331. Brother Jim: out.

  332. Brother Jim: I'm probably gonna get in

  333. Brother Jim: trouble for this, but Union

  334. Brother Jim: hospital, let's just say you

  335. Brother Jim: roll the dice like any hospital,

  336. Brother Jim: but, uh, I went to a new, uh,

  337. Brother Jim: pain management.

  338. Brother Jim: He's a spinal doctor.

  339. David: Okay.

  340. Brother Jim: Dude, I tell you what.

  341. Brother Jim: I walked in now, the places I went before you go in, you drop

  342. Brother Jim: your pants halfway, take your shirt off, and you're on the.

  343. Brother Jim: You're out of there in twenty minutes.

  344. David: Yeah.

  345. Brother Jim: I had to put the nightgown on the yellow booties.

  346. Brother Jim: They ran a class one operation, I tell you.

  347. David: There you.

  348. Brother Jim: Go. And then, uh, He's like, all right, let's do this.

  349. Brother Jim: And he starts playing.

  350. Brother Jim: Here comes the rooster.

  351. Brother Jim: He's got his own.

  352. Brother Jim: And then we go to, uh oh, uh, David Allan Coe.

  353. Brother Jim: And I'm like, dude, you got a variety of songs.

  354. Brother Jim: He's like, I like them all.

  355. Brother Jim: No wonder said, yeah, he'll play

  356. Brother Jim: Christmas songs throughout the

  357. Brother Jim: years.

  358. David: There you.

  359. Brother Jim: Go. But I like that a doctor's got some taste.

  360. Brother Jim: And, you know, he's he's cool.

  361. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  362. Brother Jim: So. And I can never remember his name, so.

  363. Brother Jim: But, uh, he's in the four

  364. Brother Jim: hundred block there behind Union

  365. Brother Jim: Hospital.

  366. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  367. Brother Jim: But yeah, it wasn't so bad.

  368. David: The, uh, the chiropractor that I go to, they have, they have in

  369. David: office music and, and depending on the day of the week, they

  370. David: have specific, that's the genre they play for.

  371. David: Yeah.

  372. David: So I always go on Wednesdays

  373. David: because Wednesdays are eighties

  374. David: day.

  375. David: Yes.

  376. Brother Jim: So eighties baby.

  377. Brother Jim: Yes. That's a shout out to Dave.

  378. Brother Jim: They're playing Boys Are Back in town.

  379. Brother Jim: We thought that was appropriate.

  380. Brother Jim: You know.

  381. Speaker 4: Uh.

  382. Brother Jim: I remember from Navy Seals

  383. Brother Jim: Charlie Sheen way back in the

  384. Brother Jim: day.

  385. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  386. Brother Jim: Probably one of the first Navy

  387. Brother Jim: Seal movies ever come out in the

  388. Brother Jim: eighties.

  389. Brother Jim: And they were playing that the boys are back in town.

  390. Brother Jim: so, uh.

  391. Brother Jim: But hey, let's get rolling.

  392. Brother Jim: Let us remember.

  393. Brother Jim: Well, we got another sunrise.

  394. Brother Jim: Another sunset, wherever you're at.

  395. Brother Jim: But it's a chance to shine.

  396. Brother Jim: A chance to show the world and everyone around you.

  397. Brother Jim: That you, ladies and gentlemen, are one special person.

  398. Brother Jim: And I tell you what, David, we've been blessed.

  399. Brother Jim: You know, we are so blessed.

  400. Brother Jim: And I pray we take that into consideration each day when we

  401. Brother Jim: hear that alarm clock and have to roll out of bed.

  402. Brother Jim: Hey, it's still we are a blessed people, a blessed nation.

  403. Brother Jim: And you know what?

  404. Brother Jim: We're alive.

  405. Brother Jim: And for many of us, almost healthy.

  406. Brother Jim: And even with the aches and pains, we're still blessed.

  407. Brother Jim: You are still blessed.

  408. Brother Jim: I am still blessed.

  409. Brother Jim: So come on and join Mr. David and I as we say.

  410. Brother Jim: Thank you, Lord, for another day or another day that's coming to

  411. Brother Jim: an end as you lay your little heads down on that pillow.

  412. Brother Jim: Uh, and hey, you know what?

  413. Brother Jim: Wherever you're at, tomorrow

  414. Brother Jim: will be another day of

  415. Brother Jim: opportunity.

  416. Brother Jim: Just waiting for you and I to go make our mark.

  417. Brother Jim: And you know what?

  418. Brother Jim: As, uh, members of the kingdom.

  419. Brother Jim: And that way that includes everybody here.

  420. Brother Jim: If you belong to Jesus, you're a member of the kingdom, and we've

  421. Brother Jim: got work to do.

  422. Brother Jim: My friends, because look around you.

  423. Brother Jim: Look around.

  424. Brother Jim: Things are getting pretty, uh, pretty rough in this world.

  425. Brother Jim: Uh, so we've definitely got work to do to bring the gospel, to

  426. Brother Jim: spread the gospel, to let people know what Jesus can do in their

  427. Brother Jim: life, especially the lost, the broken, the ones who are hanging

  428. Brother Jim: on, hanging on by a thread.

  429. Brother Jim: And you know what?

  430. Brother Jim: Just remember, every morning is a beautiful morning.

  431. Brother Jim: Find that good and forget the bad.

  432. Brother Jim: Here we go.

  433. Brother Jim: Poo bank shot.

  434. Brother Jim: Spit it out.

  435. Brother Jim: Hey, you know we've all got problems, David.

  436. Brother Jim: You got.

  437. David: It?

  438. Brother Jim: Yeah. Did bills today?

  439. Brother Jim: Yeah. Did bills.

  440. Brother Jim: And, uh, you know, and it's that time of the year.

  441. David: Deductibles starting over.

  442. Brother Jim: You just pay off the last from last year's.

  443. Brother Jim: You're finally square and then.

  444. David: Starting over again.

  445. Brother Jim: Starting over again.

  446. Brother Jim: Yep. So, uh.

  447. Brother Jim: But yeah, with me, I get this out of the way.

  448. Brother Jim: I think I might get a facelift, liposuction, maybe even a little

  449. Brother Jim: bit of hair implants.

  450. David: We won't recognize you.

  451. Brother Jim: Yeah, I say all that, but it

  452. Brother Jim: ain't going to happen because

  453. Brother Jim: I'm sure the insurance would

  454. Brother Jim: say.

  455. Brother Jim: I don't think so.

  456. Brother Jim: So, uh.

  457. Brother Jim: But, hey, you know what?

  458. Brother Jim: Just remember, you're not alone.

  459. Brother Jim: Why?

  460. Brother Jim: I am glad you asked.

  461. Brother Jim: Because Jesus and Jesus alone.

  462. Brother Jim: Let's rejoice.

  463. Brother Jim: Let us rejoice that we got him.

  464. Brother Jim: And if you don't have him, I'm going to ask you what I asked my

  465. Brother Jim: congregation Sunday morning.

  466. Brother Jim: Why not?

  467. Brother Jim: Why not?

  468. Brother Jim: The best thing you can do in your life is at least start a

  469. Brother Jim: conversation with the man.

  470. Brother Jim: Better yet, get right here in his word.

  471. Brother Jim: You got questions?

  472. Brother Jim: He's got answers.

  473. Brother Jim: And it's all right here.

  474. Brother Jim: Now, it might not be something you want to hear, but by golly,

  475. Brother Jim: it'll set you straight.

  476. Brother Jim: And if it can set me straight, well.

  477. Brother Jim: transformation.

  478. Brother Jim: My friend's transformation.

  479. Brother Jim: That's the key word you asked for.

  480. Brother Jim: Oxford Church, that's one of my

  481. Brother Jim: favorite words is

  482. Brother Jim: transformation.

  483. Brother Jim: It just don't start all at once.

  484. Brother Jim: It's a process.

  485. Brother Jim: It's a journey.

  486. Brother Jim: But hey, remember when you look

  487. Brother Jim: in that mirror tonight before

  488. Brother Jim: you go to bed or tomorrow

  489. Brother Jim: morning, remember you are

  490. Brother Jim: beautiful and you matter in this

  491. Brother Jim: world.

  492. Brother Jim: And most of all, oh my goodness.

  493. Brother Jim: Me and Ida Lee are saying, say it, girl.

  494. Brother Jim: Say it.

  495. Brother Jim: That's it, that's it.

  496. Brother Jim: You are loved.

  497. Brother Jim: Now we've been talking about the woes of the Pharisees.

  498. Brother Jim: Had a series on this.

  499. Brother Jim: We're going to finish up this Sunday.

  500. Brother Jim: But, uh, you know about those good old Pharisees, those

  501. Brother Jim: leaders back in the day?

  502. Brother Jim: Oh, they were smart people, weren't they, David?

  503. Brother Jim: They knew the law.

  504. Brother Jim: They knew it to a T, but they didn't act on it.

  505. Brother Jim: And the question is, the title

  506. Brother Jim: of the series has been, are

  507. Brother Jim: there Pharisees in the modern

  508. Brother Jim: day church?

  509. Brother Jim: And.

  510. Brother Jim: Oh, Brother Jim believed so, because how many self-righteous

  511. Brother Jim: hypocrites does the church have?

  512. Brother Jim: Best lines ever.

  513. Brother Jim: I ain't coming to church.

  514. Brother Jim: You're a bunch of hypocrites.

  515. Brother Jim: And his old pastor Bob would say, come on in.

  516. Brother Jim: There's room at the pew at the end of the pew for one more.

  517. Brother Jim: But God is not impressed by a clean appearance.

  518. Brother Jim: If the heart is unclean.

  519. Brother Jim: Now did you hear that, my friends?

  520. Brother Jim: God is not impressed by a clean appearance.

  521. Brother Jim: If the heart is unclean, true holiness begins within.

  522. Brother Jim: Now we were talking in this last Sunday.

  523. Brother Jim: I used an example of a cup I had up on the PowerPoint here.

  524. Brother Jim: But now this cup.

  525. Brother Jim: She's clean as a whistle, but isn't really the inside.

  526. Brother Jim: What matters now, if I was to offer my friend David a drink

  527. Brother Jim: here and this thing had about five years of coffee remains and

  528. Brother Jim: little tobacco juice.

  529. Brother Jim: I'm not saying that, but you know what I mean.

  530. Brother Jim: Funk.

  531. Brother Jim: That's the word I used.

  532. Brother Jim: If it was full of funk and I

  533. Brother Jim: offered, you offered David a

  534. Brother Jim: drink, I'm guessing you're going

  535. Brother Jim: to pass.

  536. David: Got that right.

  537. Brother Jim: Yeah, I was saying, I remember

  538. Brother Jim: my grandpa, he had a style

  539. Brother Jim: pottery.

  540. Brother Jim: He worked at style pottery.

  541. Brother Jim: Most of the Harrison County people did back in the day.

  542. Brother Jim: Them style pottery, coffee cups.

  543. Brother Jim: And I don't think he cleaned it too much on the inside.

  544. Brother Jim: I think it gave it a flavor.

  545. Brother Jim: I don't know if my grandma's seasoning the.

  546. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  547. Brother Jim: But, uh, you know, you think

  548. Brother Jim: about this, uh, and I, I wore

  549. Brother Jim: bibs Sunday.

  550. Brother Jim: Check it out because how easy we judge with our eyes.

  551. Brother Jim: And, you know, around here, you

  552. Brother Jim: can get away with bibs and all

  553. Brother Jim: that.

  554. Brother Jim: That's kind of a more rural area setting.

  555. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  556. Brother Jim: But you go up north.

  557. Brother Jim: Well, you're going to Cleveland tomorrow.

  558. Brother Jim: You walk in in a pair of bibs

  559. Brother Jim: and a white t shirt wearing

  560. Brother Jim: boots.

  561. David: It's like a fly.

  562. Brother Jim: They might give you the stink eye a little bit.

  563. Brother Jim: But again, it's no different

  564. Brother Jim: with a pastor or a leader of a

  565. Brother Jim: church or a corporation, uh, a

  566. Brother Jim: CEO.

  567. Brother Jim: You.

  568. Brother Jim: You can walk in with corporation.

  569. Brother Jim: Let me jump right there.

  570. Brother Jim: I have found David throughout my career.

  571. Brother Jim: A lot of times.

  572. Brother Jim: Merit doesn't get you there.

  573. Brother Jim: It's what comes out of the mouth and how good you look.

  574. David: Yeah.

  575. Brother Jim: Now a pastor, I'm going to pick on pastors.

  576. Brother Jim: You can come in in the three piece suit with your bling

  577. Brother Jim: bling, your Rolex.

  578. Brother Jim: All that and be as dirty inside.

  579. Brother Jim: I mean, just the worst, the worst.

  580. Brother Jim: The funk, you know?

  581. Brother Jim: What good does that do?

  582. Brother Jim: And what good does that do?

  583. Brother Jim: The church.

  584. Brother Jim: Humility.

  585. Brother Jim: Check.

  586. Brother Jim: Look in the mirror, my friends.

  587. Brother Jim: You can put on a dog and pony show.

  588. Brother Jim: But on the inside, what's going on?

  589. Brother Jim: And that is what matters to God.

  590. Brother Jim: Uh, and I'm afraid, David, we

  591. Brother Jim: got a lot of that in the, in the

  592. Brother Jim: church today.

  593. Brother Jim: And I think we got a lot of that in our country.

  594. Brother Jim: Uh, what does it truly mean to give your life to Christ.

  595. Brother Jim: I think that's a key.

  596. Brother Jim: You know, because you can say you have.

  597. Brother Jim: But if there's no transformation.

  598. Brother Jim: Oh, I believe in God.

  599. Brother Jim: Oh, are you really now you're saying.

  600. Brother Jim: Probably now, Brother Jim, you shouldn't judge.

  601. Brother Jim: It's not judgment, it's concern, my friends.

  602. Brother Jim: It's love.

  603. Brother Jim: Because we're all going to have a judgment day, are we not?

  604. Brother Jim: Yeah, and everything's going to be revealed.

  605. Brother Jim: So my question is, are you truly does your heart did you repent

  606. Brother Jim: of your sin?

  607. Brother Jim: And is the Holy Spirit?

  608. Brother Jim: And I love that the Holy Spirit, is he working in your life to

  609. Brother Jim: transform the old to the new?

  610. Brother Jim: And you know, David, I think

  611. Brother Jim: that's a R. Could that be a

  612. Brother Jim: major question that we're afraid

  613. Brother Jim: to ask?

  614. Brother Jim: Because should you not see transformation in a person's

  615. Brother Jim: life, who says they've given their life to Jesus Christ?

  616. David: Yeah. You should.

  617. Brother Jim: They've repented.

  618. Brother Jim: I mean, you're allowing him to

  619. Brother Jim: come in, so he's going to

  620. Brother Jim: automatically start overhauling,

  621. Brother Jim: right?

  622. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  623. Brother Jim: Taking out the garbage like we're trying to do here, taking

  624. Brother Jim: out the garbage to make new.

  625. Brother Jim: And I really I don't know, that's been on my heart a lot

  626. Brother Jim: lately because you see it more and more special social, social

  627. Brother Jim: media, all these celebrities who are claiming this.

  628. Brother Jim: And I want to believe I really do.

  629. Brother Jim: But is there transformation in their life?

  630. Brother Jim: Some heavy metal bands I'm not going to mention.

  631. Brother Jim: You say you're a Christian, but

  632. Brother Jim: then how can you keep doing

  633. Brother Jim: what's made you millions and

  634. Brother Jim: millions and millions of dollars

  635. Brother Jim: by singing songs that do not

  636. Brother Jim: glorify God?

  637. Brother Jim: Right.

  638. Brother Jim: You know what I mean?

  639. Brother Jim: It'd be like, uh, AC DC coming out.

  640. Brother Jim: Hey, we're Christians, but we're

  641. Brother Jim: still singing Highway to Hell,

  642. Brother Jim: you know?

  643. David: Yeah.

  644. Brother Jim: Now you know.

  645. Brother Jim: Speaking of that, David.

  646. Brother Jim: Satan the devil.

  647. Brother Jim: Lucifer.

  648. Brother Jim: He was in charge of worship in heaven.

  649. David: Yeah.

  650. Brother Jim: Does that not make you think that down here he has the

  651. Brother Jim: ability to make music so sweet, so tantalizing to the ear?

  652. David: I mean, it's in his wheelhouse.

  653. Brother Jim: Exactly.

  654. Brother Jim: And music is a great thing, is it not?

  655. David: Oh, absolutely.

  656. Brother Jim: I mean, you mentioned the eighties, dude.

  657. Brother Jim: I love the eighties, the seventies, the eighties, a

  658. Brother Jim: little bit of the nineties, you know, and I'm very diversified

  659. Brother Jim: in music, you know, but, uh, it gets a man to thinking about

  660. Brother Jim: that, you know, if he could convince, persuade a third of

  661. Brother Jim: the angels to come with him.

  662. Brother Jim: Now they've been they were there again.

  663. Brother Jim: I think I've said this.

  664. Brother Jim: He's a heck of a used car salesman.

  665. David: Yeah. No kidding.

  666. Brother Jim: And you got our feeble minds down here, our sinful ways.

  667. Brother Jim: Why not use music?

  668. Brother Jim: So again, I know I got a little

  669. Brother Jim: off topic there, but I can't

  670. Brother Jim: help but think celebrities that

  671. Brother Jim: are coming out and they're still

  672. Brother Jim: continuing that lifestyle, still

  673. Brother Jim: promoting music that got them

  674. Brother Jim: there.

  675. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  676. Brother Jim: You know, I just can't help but wonder about that.

  677. David: Yeah.

  678. Brother Jim: Alright.

  679. Brother Jim: Jesus spoke these words to people who looked religious but

  680. Brother Jim: had hearts filled with pride, judgment, and hypocrisy.

  681. Brother Jim: They focused on appearances,

  682. Brother Jim: rules, traditions, and public

  683. Brother Jim: image.

  684. Brother Jim: Image management.

  685. Brother Jim: Now I use that big term Sunday.

  686. Brother Jim: Is that not a very big thing in our world today?

  687. David: Oh yeah.

  688. Brother Jim: Social media how I look.

  689. Brother Jim: I love these filters.

  690. Brother Jim: David.

  691. Brother Jim: You can take a guy like this who.

  692. Brother Jim: And all of a sudden I'm looking good through the filter system.

  693. David: Yeah.

  694. Brother Jim: And it's becoming more and more.

  695. Brother Jim: And self image management because we want everybody.

  696. Brother Jim: Now this is just my opinion.

  697. Brother Jim: We want everybody to be impressed.

  698. Brother Jim: Some of my daughters, God bless them, they freak out if the

  699. Brother Jim: pictures aren't good.

  700. Brother Jim: Me just take the stinking picture, man.

  701. Brother Jim: Exactly.

  702. Brother Jim: Bingo.

  703. Brother Jim: I wish we had a bell right now.

  704. Brother Jim: Ding ding ding ding ding.

  705. Brother Jim: Winner, winner.

  706. Brother Jim: Chicken dinner.

  707. Brother Jim: Notice, baby, I didn't say goodbye to lead.

  708. Brother Jim: But ignoring what was happening inside their hearts.

  709. Brother Jim: And this message still should speak to us today.

  710. Brother Jim: It's easy to focus on looking good on the outside.

  711. Brother Jim: Saying the right things.

  712. Brother Jim: Especially as a pastor.

  713. Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.

  714. Brother Jim: If I start saying wrong things

  715. Brother Jim: up there, David probably have a

  716. Brother Jim: mass exodus.

  717. Brother Jim: Our little, uh.

  718. David: Comment box will be overflowing.

  719. Brother Jim: Thank you.

  720. Brother Jim: I was going to say another word, but comment box would be filled.

  721. Brother Jim: Where's Brother Jim coming from?

  722. Brother Jim: And that is why it's so

  723. Brother Jim: important, I believe as a

  724. Brother Jim: pastor, to back everything in

  725. Brother Jim: the scripture.

  726. Brother Jim: And if you can't see that I got

  727. Brother Jim: a Bible right here in front of

  728. Brother Jim: me, you better be backing it up

  729. Brother Jim: now.

  730. Brother Jim: Does that just stop with the pastor?

  731. Brother Jim: No. If you're a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, you're

  732. Brother Jim: out there in the world.

  733. Brother Jim: You should be trying to spread the gospel.

  734. Brother Jim: You better have this backed up.

  735. Brother Jim: Now, if you're like me, I can't remember diddly do.

  736. Brother Jim: But at least if you have a

  737. Brother Jim: working knowledge and being

  738. Brother Jim: open, hey, I'll come back to you

  739. Brother Jim: on that.

  740. Brother Jim: But I know it's here.

  741. Brother Jim: Appearing kind or spiritual.

  742. Brother Jim: How do we appear spiritual, David.

  743. David: Carrying a Bible around?

  744. David: I don't, I don't know.

  745. Brother Jim: How about this one, my friend?

  746. Brother Jim: The cross.

  747. David: Yeah, that gold cross.

  748. Brother Jim: I want that because I am very.

  749. Brother Jim: I went and got me one and I wear it a lot, but to me it means

  750. Brother Jim: something in a way.

  751. Brother Jim: I'm showing the world, hey, if I'm now again, unfortunately in

  752. Brother Jim: today's world, I don't think it means a whole lot now.

  753. David: Yeah.

  754. Brother Jim: But still I am.

  755. Brother Jim: I am bold enough to wear that.

  756. Brother Jim: I better be bold enough to be aware of my actions, my mouth,

  757. Brother Jim: and make sure I am representing God in the right way.

  758. Brother Jim: Just my take on it.

  759. Brother Jim: But God is not primarily concerned with appearances.

  760. Brother Jim: As we see in first Samuel

  761. Brother Jim: sixteen seven, people look at

  762. Brother Jim: the outward appearance, which is

  763. Brother Jim: very true, but the Lord looks at

  764. Brother Jim: the heart.

  765. Brother Jim: God sees what others cannot see, my friends.

  766. Brother Jim: Oh, what about our motives?

  767. Brother Jim: What about our thoughts?

  768. Brother Jim: What about our secret struggles?

  769. Brother Jim: And even I'll go far as to say our secret little dirty sins

  770. Brother Jim: that we battle with.

  771. Brother Jim: I don't know about you, David, but I think we all battle

  772. Brother Jim: temptation, do we not?

  773. David: Yeah.

  774. Brother Jim: I don't care how holy, self-righteous, how many years

  775. Brother Jim: we got problems.

  776. Brother Jim: And guess what?

  777. Brother Jim: We can't do it on our own, can we?

  778. David: Nope.

  779. Brother Jim: No, that's why Jesus is so.

  780. Brother Jim: And that's why King David prayed in Psalms fifty one ten create

  781. Brother Jim: in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

  782. Brother Jim: And brothers and sisters, I know every day can be a challenge.

  783. Brother Jim: But even if we start out with that prayer.

  784. Brother Jim: Create in me a clean heart, O

  785. Brother Jim: God, and renew a right spirit

  786. Brother Jim: within me.

  787. Brother Jim: You're giving yourself a fighting chance, aren't you?

  788. Brother Jim: For the day.

  789. Brother Jim: No matter what the devil, no matter what the world is going

  790. Brother Jim: to throw at you because you're starting off right with God.

  791. Brother Jim: Being clean on the inside means

  792. Brother Jim: allowing God to work in our

  793. Brother Jim: hearts.

  794. Brother Jim: It means confessing sin, letting

  795. Brother Jim: go of bitterness, replacing

  796. Brother Jim: prayer, asking God to transform

  797. Brother Jim: us.

  798. Brother Jim: Oh, there's my word.

  799. Brother Jim: Transform us from within.

  800. Brother Jim: When the heart is clean, the outside will follow.

  801. Brother Jim: Our words become kinder, our actions more loving.

  802. Brother Jim: And our lives reflect Christ more clearly.

  803. Brother Jim: So today, tonight, instead of asking.

  804. Speaker 4: How.

  805. Brother Jim: Should we not be asking how does my heart look before God?

  806. Brother Jim: Because, friends, true holiness does not start on the outside.

  807. Brother Jim: It begins in the heart.

  808. Brother Jim: David.

  809. Brother Jim: Closing thoughts?

  810. Brother Jim: Anything on that you'd like to add from the Keener zone?

  811. David: Yeah. What you were talking

  812. David: about, uh, maintaining that

  813. David: image.

  814. David: I, I, we were talking about the eighties too, and I had an

  815. David: instant thought come to my mind.

  816. David: I'm a big tennis fan.

  817. David: I've been a tennis fan for forever.

  818. David: And, uh, Andre campaign images, everything.

  819. David: And he advertised for canon cameras.

  820. David: I think it was triple images, everything.

  821. David: And that was that was big back then.

  822. David: But you know, yeah, the image only holds up for so long.

  823. David: Then sooner or later.

  824. Brother Jim: Oh, the cracks.

  825. David: Come, the cracks are going to come.

  826. David: So.

  827. Brother Jim: Oh, who's the dude that would lose it?

  828. Brother Jim: Uh.

  829. David: Uh, John McEnroe.

  830. Speaker 5: Be serious.

  831. Brother Jim: Which I don't think he really put up an image, people, you

  832. Brother Jim: know, he's a mad man out on the court, you know.

  833. Brother Jim: Spoke his mind.

  834. Brother Jim: Uh, but, you know, we could go on and on about that.

  835. Brother Jim: And, uh, you know, what kind of image are you showing the world?

  836. Brother Jim: But more importantly, what kind

  837. Brother Jim: of image is your heart showing

  838. Brother Jim: inside here?

  839. Brother Jim: Your mind, your heart, your soul?

  840. Brother Jim: Uh, something to chew on this week.

  841. Brother Jim: Well, my friends, the time.

  842. Brother Jim: May God continue to bless you just as well.

  843. Brother Jim: You need to thank our Lord above

  844. Brother Jim: for all our blessings each and

  845. Brother Jim: every day.

  846. Brother Jim: And if we meet again, well, then we will smile and rejoice.

  847. Brother Jim: And if not, then parting was well made.

  848. Brother Jim: Thank you for joining David and

  849. Brother Jim: myself, along with Ida Lee here

  850. Brother Jim: this evening.

  851. Brother Jim: Here on Bible bibs and a prayer.

  852. Brother Jim: This is the big guy, Brother Jim.

  853. Brother Jim: Out.
