Brother Jim: they garnish his wages?
-
Brother Jim: Even David was slow on that one.
-
Brother Jim: That must've really bombed.
-
Brother Jim: Hey, let you and I thank God for another day.
-
Brother Jim: We didn't have to set the alarm for.
-
Brother Jim: Because we're already awake and we are blessed.
-
Brother Jim: My name is Brother Jim, one half of the dynamic duo here on Bible
-
Brother Jim: bibs and a prayer by day, a pastor of Roxford Church.
-
Brother Jim: And by night I want to be funny
-
Brother Jim: guy as my wife, beautiful wife,
-
Brother Jim: Keri says, you're not really
-
Brother Jim: that funny.
-
Brother Jim: You're just funny looking.
-
Brother Jim: And I have to agree with her on that one.
-
Brother Jim: Welcome to the show.
-
Brother Jim: Let's turn this from a conversation into an experience.
-
Brother Jim: And now, before I go to the big introduction, I want to
-
Brother Jim: introduce our new member of the team, Mr. Dan.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, our new big old rooster to go with Ida Lee.
-
Brother Jim: David, we're going to have a
-
Brother Jim: barnyard before we know it,
-
Brother Jim: brother.
-
David: I'm telling you.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, I want to get an exotic animal, though.
-
Brother Jim: I'm thinking an alligator.
-
Brother Jim: Giraffe, something like that.
-
David: Got a bearskin rug on the floor.
-
David: Bearskin.
-
David: Oh.
-
Brother Jim: You find me napping on that one, brother?
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Let us know what you'd like to see.
-
Brother Jim: To join us down here on the farm.
-
Brother Jim: Or. You know what?
-
Brother Jim: I got my Bigfoot hat on today.
-
Brother Jim: David still out there looking for that man?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: I told my grandson Dawson, he comes over, we're going to go
-
Brother Jim: out and set a trap for him.
-
Brother Jim: So Lord only knows what will happen there.
-
Brother Jim: But you know what?
-
Brother Jim: And now, the moment you've all been waiting for.
-
Brother Jim: I am joined by the one and only person who thinks just one more
-
Brother Jim: episode is a personality trait.
-
Brother Jim: This man brings the jokes, the
-
Brother Jim: chaos, and just enough
-
Brother Jim: questionable opinions to keep
-
Brother Jim: things interesting.
-
Brother Jim: If there's a tangent to go on, he will find it.
-
Brother Jim: If there's a snack nearby, it is already gone.
-
Brother Jim: Give it up.
-
Brother Jim: For my partner in podcasting
-
Brother Jim: crime, a face that only a mother
-
Brother Jim: could love.
-
Brother Jim: The one, the only, Mr. David Keener.
-
Brother Jim: Plus one of my very best friends in the whole wide world.
-
Brother Jim: Good morning, my friend.
-
David: Good morning.
-
David: How are we doing?
-
Brother Jim: Oh. We're doing.
-
Brother Jim: How was life in Keenerville?
-
David: It's all right.
-
David: I'm getting over a cold.
-
David: Trying to get over a cold.
-
David: It was the weirdest cold I've ever had.
-
David: So it came on, like, a little bit.
-
David: Well, first of all, the family was sick a couple of weeks ago
-
David: and I made it through.
-
David: I'm like, yes, I'm not going to get sick.
-
David: And then two weeks later I got it.
-
David: I spoke too soon.
-
David: Yep.
-
David: Spoke too soon.
-
Brother Jim: Could it be?
-
Brother Jim: Could it be all that cake you've been consuming?
-
David: Well, it probably added some
-
David: contributing contributing
-
David: factors.
-
Brother Jim: Is the cake all gone?
-
David: The cake, cake, cake is gone.
-
Brother Jim: Finished off.
-
Brother Jim: And now we're heading into Easter.
-
Brother Jim: So.
-
Brother Jim: Leftovers.
-
Brother Jim: Yes yes yes yes, that good old Easter dinner.
-
Brother Jim: Ham and maybe barbecue.
-
Brother Jim: I don't know, I think we've
-
Brother Jim: asked before, but let us know
-
Brother Jim: now.
-
Brother Jim: What's your traditional go to meal at Easter?
-
David: Well, they have the standard,
-
David: you know, ham and and some
-
David: turkey sometimes.
-
David: But turkey I'm a I'm a big ham guy for Easter.
-
David: That's what I like.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. Yeah. Now of course with
-
Brother Jim: our new friends, I don't want to
-
Brother Jim: mention too much, you know, ham
-
Brother Jim: chicken.
-
Brother Jim: You know, I can tell you this
-
Brother Jim: Brother Jim ain't going the
-
Brother Jim: vegetarian route.
-
Brother Jim: That's never going to happen there.
-
Brother Jim: Having a tofu hamburger or something?
-
Brother Jim: No. How about you guys?
-
Brother Jim: What's going on for Easter?
-
Brother Jim: Hey, this Saturday coming up,
-
Brother Jim: we've got our big Easter egg
-
Brother Jim: hunt over at the Family Life
-
Brother Jim: Center.
-
Brother Jim: Two p m. Great time for the family.
-
Brother Jim: A lot of activities focused on Jesus.
-
Brother Jim: And of course, at the end, we.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, we've got a ton of prizes, David.
-
Brother Jim: Everybody gets a prize they get
-
Brother Jim: to pick from, and they always
-
Brother Jim: have some cool stuff to give
-
Brother Jim: out.
-
Brother Jim: Plus our big old Easter egg hunt.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, I'm not sure what the age limit is on that one, but just
-
Brother Jim: bring your kids and we're going to have a good time.
-
Brother Jim: Um, I wanted to tell the kids,
-
Brother Jim: but I figured I'd get booed this
-
Brother Jim: Sunday morning.
-
Brother Jim: Anybody finds a rock and there's.
-
Brother Jim: That's a special prize.
-
Brother Jim: Because I thought about taking
-
Brother Jim: the candy and putting rocks in
-
Brother Jim: it.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: So but, uh, hey, if you had a
-
Brother Jim: slingshot, that'd be a good
-
Brother Jim: present.
-
Brother Jim: There you go.
-
Brother Jim: You know?
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: But, uh, again, uh, any, uh, big
-
Brother Jim: plans for the upcoming Holy
-
Brother Jim: Week?
-
David: No, not that I know of.
-
David: Just the standard.
-
David: You know, you said we got the
-
David: big Easter egg hunt this
-
David: weekend, But.
-
Brother Jim: You.
-
David: Know, the family usually does
-
David: one during the Easter dinner on
-
David: Sunday.
-
Brother Jim: So yeah, I was looking.
-
Brother Jim: We don't put a lot of emphasis on gifts, but with
-
Brother Jim: grandchildren, that's a whole different story, you know?
-
David: Right.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Ran down to rural King because he loves tractors and holy cow,
-
Brother Jim: the prices of toy tractors.
-
David: Oh yeah, that brooder stuff.
-
David: Oh my goodness.
-
Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.
-
Brother Jim: Even the plastic which I tried it at Christmas.
-
Brother Jim: I always get him a nice metal tractor to put up, have a
-
Brother Jim: collection of tractors.
-
Brother Jim: So I usually then get him a, the plastic stuff, those metal ones.
-
Brother Jim: David a little Farmall H uh, it's a special.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, I don't know, something special on it.
-
Brother Jim: It was over one hundred and some dollars.
-
Brother Jim: Holy cow.
-
Brother Jim: That's just a little Farmall H. Which.
-
Brother Jim: Great American tractor right there.
-
Brother Jim: Brother Jim's got one himself.
-
Brother Jim: Real deal.
-
Brother Jim: But, uh, yeah, it's like now Christmas time.
-
Brother Jim: You usually found a pretty good deal.
-
Brother Jim: You know, buy one fifty percent.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, that's not bad, but.
-
Brother Jim: Holy cow.
-
David: At over one hundred dollars, they're not a toy at that point.
-
David: They're a collector's item.
-
Brother Jim: Exactly. That's what I told my daughter.
-
Brother Jim: These go up on a box.
-
Brother Jim: Keep them in the box and they go
-
Brother Jim: up on a shelf because we'll get
-
Brother Jim: him stuff to play with out in
-
Brother Jim: the dirt.
-
Brother Jim: But, uh.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, but, uh, no. Hard to believe Easter is here along
-
Brother Jim: with all this crazy weather.
-
Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.
-
Brother Jim: One minute you got your shorts and tank top.
-
Brother Jim: On the next minute, folks, you got your coat in the furnace,
-
Brother Jim: back up to seventy.
-
Brother Jim: Whatever you keep it at, it's
-
Brother Jim: like, come on, Ohio, what is
-
Brother Jim: going on?
-
Brother Jim: Uh, I heard a couple people
-
Brother Jim: rumbling and grumbling because
-
Brother Jim: they just came back from down
-
Brother Jim: south.
-
Brother Jim: Fly in and hello, welcome back to Ohio.
-
Brother Jim: Thirty degrees.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, but hey, we're getting there.
-
Brother Jim: Have you mowed anymore?
-
David: I have mowed twice total, and
-
David: I'm working on putting a video
-
David: together for opening opening
-
David: season.
-
David: Yes, yes.
-
David: So I've got the footage.
-
David: I've just got to put it together.
-
David: But, uh, did my second mow this weekend.
-
Brother Jim: I got a little bit more in, uh, still just the sticks, limbs
-
Brother Jim: everywhere, Everywhere, man, if I had a dollar for every stick
-
Brother Jim: and limb I was picking up, I might be able to buy myself a
-
Brother Jim: nice steak dinner.
-
Brother Jim: There you go.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: So, uh.
-
Brother Jim: But hey, how about you guys?
-
Brother Jim: What's going on in your world?
-
Brother Jim: Let us know.
-
Brother Jim: Miss Pegg.
-
Brother Jim: Abraham, how you doing?
-
Brother Jim: Number one fan out there, miss Ida Lee.
-
Brother Jim: Also a number one fan.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, let us know.
-
Brother Jim: We'd love to hear from you.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, you come across any good dad jokes lately?
-
Brother Jim: David?
-
David: I have, and, uh, as a matter of fact, my boss.
-
David: I was eating lunch the other
-
David: day, and my boss came looking
-
David: for me.
-
David: He said, where have you been?
-
David: I've been looking for you all morning.
-
David: I said, well, good employees are hard to find.
-
Brother Jim: Ah, boom.
-
Brother Jim: Bingo, baby, I like that.
-
Brother Jim: That was good.
-
Brother Jim: That blew away the parsley one, I'll tell you that.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, hey, and if you folks got any good dad jokes or any good
-
Brother Jim: jokes, shoot em in.
-
Brother Jim: We'd love to have them, because it's hard to believe.
-
Brother Jim: It is hard to keep this humorous side going here.
-
Brother Jim: You know, we it's a struggle
-
Brother Jim: sometimes to find good jokes out
-
Brother Jim: there.
-
Brother Jim: So, uh, but again, let us
-
Brother Jim: remember another sunrise,
-
Brother Jim: another chance to shine, a
-
Brother Jim: chance to show the whole world
-
Brother Jim: and everyone around that you,
-
Brother Jim: you, my friend, are one special
-
Brother Jim: person.
-
Brother Jim: And that you.
-
Brother Jim: We all.
-
Brother Jim: We've been blessed.
-
Brother Jim: You, David and myself, along with our two crew members here.
-
Brother Jim: I wonder if we get little shirts that says staff on them.
-
David: They make shirts for chickens and pigs.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, that'd be all right.
-
Brother Jim: But you know what?
-
Brother Jim: Let you and I thank God for another blessed day.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, whether you're driving, working, or just starting your
-
Brother Jim: morning coffee, we're glad you're here with us.
-
Brother Jim: We are live.
-
Brother Jim: And even with all the aches and pains, we are blessed.
-
Brother Jim: And I did hear David.
-
Brother Jim: I just met a nice young man
-
Brother Jim: today, came in to church and he
-
Brother Jim: was listening to Bible bibs and
-
Brother Jim: prayers.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, he decided to come to church.
-
David: And he has to say he came anyway.
-
David: Huh?
-
David: Yeah.
-
David: Wow.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. It's amazing.
-
Brother Jim: I was like, man, okay, I was going to ask if you want an
-
Brother Jim: autograph, but I thought that might be a bit much.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. And then the other another
-
Brother Jim: young man, uh, this dude, he's
-
Brother Jim: rocking it.
-
Brother Jim: Uh. I'm sorry my memory's so bad, but he's got, uh.
-
Brother Jim: He's got the full Joe dirt mullet going.
-
Brother Jim: Nice.
-
Brother Jim: It is.
-
Brother Jim: Nice.
-
Brother Jim: And, uh, t four C, which, uh, we had Buffy scheduled.
-
Brother Jim: She's the director of T four C two.
-
Brother Jim: Come on.
-
Brother Jim: We had to, uh, backdate that a little bit, but we had a
-
Brother Jim: breakfast over there the other day to help raise money.
-
Brother Jim: And, uh, he dressed up as the Easter Bunny and that poor guy.
-
Brother Jim: By the time he got out of the
-
Brother Jim: the costume, it looked like
-
Brother Jim: there had been a massacre of
-
Brother Jim: rabbits.
-
Brother Jim: There was white fuzz everywhere.
-
Brother Jim: So, uh, don't worry, we weren't, uh, massacre masked.
-
Brother Jim: We weren't taking out the, uh, rabbits, so, uh.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, but.
-
Brother Jim: So come on and join Mr. David and I, as we say.
-
Brother Jim: Thank you, Lord, for another day of opportunity.
-
Brother Jim: Just waiting for you and I to make our mark.
-
Brother Jim: Find that good in life and forget the bad.
-
Brother Jim: Come on, everybody, let's spit it out.
-
Brother Jim: What do.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Gone out of our mouths and hey, guess what?
-
Brother Jim: I want to remind you something, Dave.
-
Brother Jim: And I want to remind you that you are not alone.
-
Brother Jim: Why?
-
Brother Jim: Well, we are glad you asked.
-
Brother Jim: Jesus and Jesus alone rejoice that you are alive.
-
Brother Jim: And when you look in that
-
Brother Jim: mirror, remember you are
-
Brother Jim: beautiful.
-
Brother Jim: You matter in this world and
-
Brother Jim: most of all, oh my goodness, you
-
Brother Jim: are loved.
-
Brother Jim: Now Linda and Marian were
-
Brother Jim: comparing notes on the
-
Brother Jim: difficulties of running a small
-
Brother Jim: business.
-
Brother Jim: I started a new business last year.
-
Brother Jim: Linda said, I insist that each of my employees take at least a
-
Brother Jim: week off every three months.
-
Brother Jim: Why in the world would you do that?
-
Brother Jim: Marlon asked, or Marian asked.
-
Brother Jim: It's the best way I know of to learn which ones I can do
-
Brother Jim: without, Linda said.
-
Brother Jim: Excuse me.
-
Brother Jim: Wow, I got a jump on.
-
David: That.
-
Brother Jim: one.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, I.
-
Brother Jim: Thought that was pretty good, huh?
-
Brother Jim: Maybe that's why I didn't get a call back a couple times.
-
Brother Jim: It just keeps staying off.
-
Brother Jim: All right.
-
Brother Jim: Our thought of the day every time you forgive Of every time
-
Brother Jim: you forgive, you disappoint the devil, Mr. Rick Warren.
-
Brother Jim: Now, last week, on Thursday, we
-
Brother Jim: started talking about who was
-
Brother Jim: Satan?
-
Brother Jim: Who is Satan?
-
Brother Jim: Do you believe in Satan?
-
Brother Jim: Do you wonder who he is?
-
Brother Jim: Now we started jumping into that
-
Brother Jim: just a little bit, touching the
-
Brother Jim: surface.
-
Brother Jim: Another name used in which Bible in the Bible, which is the
-
Brother Jim: devil, which means accuser.
-
Brother Jim: Just kind of bringing us up to date a little bit here.
-
Brother Jim: Satan accuses people and tries
-
Brother Jim: to bring condemnation and
-
Brother Jim: discouragement.
-
Brother Jim: Oh yes he does.
-
Brother Jim: He does it to everybody.
-
Brother Jim: In first Peter five eight, the
-
Brother Jim: Bible warns us, be sober, be
-
Brother Jim: vigilant, because your adversary
-
Brother Jim: the devil, walks about you like
-
Brother Jim: a roaring lion seeking whom he
-
Brother Jim: may devour.
-
Brother Jim: This shows us that Satan is very active.
-
Brother Jim: Oh yes, he's active in our world today.
-
Brother Jim: And a lot of people, I'm afraid.
-
Brother Jim: I hate to say it, but we're just too blind to see it.
-
Brother Jim: True, David.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, he's everywhere.
-
Brother Jim: And he's even in our churches,
-
Brother Jim: from schools, churches, our
-
Brother Jim: homes, society.
-
Brother Jim: He is everywhere.
-
Brother Jim: He's always looking for ways to
-
Brother Jim: lead people into sin and away
-
Brother Jim: from God.
-
Brother Jim: Satan is the father of lies.
-
Brother Jim: Jesus spoke directly about Satan's character in John eight,
-
Brother Jim: verse forty four.
-
Brother Jim: You are of your father, the devil, and the desires of your
-
Brother Jim: father you want to do.
-
Brother Jim: He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in
-
Brother Jim: the truth, because there is no truth in him.
-
Brother Jim: When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources.
-
Brother Jim: For is he a liar and the father of it?
-
Brother Jim: Now in John eight forty four, Jesus said that Satan is the
-
Brother Jim: father of lies.
-
Brother Jim: From the very beginning, Satan has used deception.
-
Brother Jim: What's the thing about David?
-
Brother Jim: How are we deceived this day and age?
-
David: I mean, the first thing that comes to my mind is AI.
-
David: I mean, there's nothing about AI that's real, but it looks real.
-
Brother Jim: It's hard. Yeah. Is this.
-
Brother Jim: What am I really watching?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: I've worn my mom about that because she's all new to this.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And she's like, I don't understand.
-
Brother Jim: Look at this.
-
Brother Jim: I'm like, yeah, mom, it's AI.
-
Brother Jim: You gotta look down at the bottom most of the time this was
-
Brother Jim: AI created for your entertainment or whatever.
-
David: If they leave it on there though, because they can take
-
David: that off and then you've got to really dig in hard.
-
Brother Jim: You gotta really.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. It's crazy.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And it's just going to keep getting better and better.
-
Brother Jim: Yep.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: So through how about our technology?
-
Brother Jim: We can say that.
-
Brother Jim: Yep.
-
Brother Jim: How about our entertainment?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Entertainment.
-
Brother Jim: That's.
-
Brother Jim: That's huge.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Music, movies, TV shows.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, what we watch on reels, YouTube.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, it's all right there to help us.
-
Brother Jim: Help us fall into temptation, fall into sin.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, online gambling, betting.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, that's a but it makes it look so easy, right?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
David: It's easy to lose money.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. Yeah. I'm losing at the pump every day.
-
David: Right?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. So, uh, uh, deception he uses quite well.
-
Brother Jim: If we go back to the story of
-
Brother Jim: Adam and Eve, the temptation
-
Brother Jim: that they faced in the Garden of
-
Brother Jim: Eden.
-
Brother Jim: Satan twisted God's words and
-
Brother Jim: caused doubt, leading them into
-
Brother Jim: disobedience.
-
Brother Jim: And, you know, I always think of
-
Brother Jim: the little devil on this, like
-
Brother Jim: in the old cartoons, the little
-
Brother Jim: devil on this one, the little
-
Brother Jim: angel on this one, you know, and
-
Brother Jim: it is it's it's like a constant
-
Brother Jim: battle sometimes of temptation,
-
Brother Jim: temptation, temptation.
-
Brother Jim: Now, temptation is not the sin until we act upon it.
-
Brother Jim: But I mean, that's where we
-
Brother Jim: gotta put on the armor of God
-
Brother Jim: for protection each and every
-
Brother Jim: day.
-
Brother Jim: Because Satan, his demons, they love to attack.
-
Brother Jim: Now I still, I think Dave and I
-
Brother Jim: both agree that if you're just
-
Brother Jim: kind of one of those quiet
-
Brother Jim: people that don't cause a fuss
-
Brother Jim: and muss, you know, oh, I go to
-
Brother Jim: church, but you ain't doing
-
Brother Jim: nothing.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Is he really going to mess with you that much?
-
David: I don't think so.
-
Brother Jim: I personally don't think he really.
-
Brother Jim: Because he's got you.
-
Brother Jim: Exactly.
-
Brother Jim: He's got you right where he wants you.
-
Brother Jim: Now, that's not saying life will not happen.
-
Brother Jim: Bad things will not happen.
-
Brother Jim: But especially on the spiritual
-
Brother Jim: side, if you're quiet and just
-
Brother Jim: checklist Christian kind of
-
Brother Jim: person.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, but it seems like, man,
-
Brother Jim: when things start to go well,
-
Brother Jim: you're moving and grooving for
-
Brother Jim: Jesus, man.
-
Brother Jim: Seems like things kind of pop up a little bit more.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, a little bit more on the irritation side.
-
Brother Jim: And that is still how Satan works today.
-
Brother Jim: He plans thoughts such as God doesn't care about you.
-
Brother Jim: Sin is not really that serious.
-
Brother Jim: You can handle life without God.
-
Brother Jim: Those are those are some big ones there.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, I mean, there's still times.
-
Brother Jim: There's a lot of times.
-
Brother Jim: Let's be honest.
-
Brother Jim: I never even give God a second
-
Brother Jim: thought on some of the decisions
-
Brother Jim: I make.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: But like we just talked Sunday is your whole body, your mind,
-
Brother Jim: heart and soul.
-
Brother Jim: Does it belong to Jesus?
-
Brother Jim: And again, now it's picking those little things.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: I think that's for me, one of the things in your journey.
-
Brother Jim: It's the little things now.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, I know we've said this like by, you know, like purchasing
-
Brother Jim: items, just go and purchase it.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Before.
-
Brother Jim: All right.
-
Brother Jim: God, what's your will here?
-
Brother Jim: Where do you want me to go to get this?
-
Brother Jim: Now, some people might be
-
Brother Jim: thinking, dude, what are you
-
Brother Jim: talking about?
-
Brother Jim: Just go buy it.
-
Brother Jim: Maybe God's got something better for you.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, but we don't ask.
-
Brother Jim: Sin isn't really that serious.
-
Brother Jim: Well, do we classify sin, David?
-
David: We do.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, yes. Our Mount Rushmore sin, as I like to call.
-
David: That's right.
-
Brother Jim: Yes. What we put up there.
-
Brother Jim: But it's okay.
-
Brother Jim: It's okay.
-
Brother Jim: And how about being honest?
-
Brother Jim: Do we tend to hold on to some of our sin, those ones that are
-
Brother Jim: just so darn enjoyable?
-
Brother Jim: Oh, but Brother Jim, I don't do it all the time.
-
Brother Jim: How about you?
-
Brother Jim: Is there some stuff you like to
-
Brother Jim: hold on to or you keep in the
-
Brother Jim: back closet so nobody knows
-
Brother Jim: about?
-
Brother Jim: Honest question.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, but again, it's just, uh, man, he he can spin it.
-
Brother Jim: Can he?
-
Brother Jim: The devil can spin it.
-
Brother Jim: Yep.
-
Brother Jim: And, uh, and I've seen in this walk, this calling how we do
-
Brother Jim: love to categorize sin.
-
Brother Jim: And, uh, That's a bad thing to do.
-
Brother Jim: But these are lies meant to pull people away from the truth.
-
Brother Jim: Satan tempts and tries to destroy.
-
Brother Jim: Satan also tempts people to sin.
-
Brother Jim: Even Jesus.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness as recorded in
-
Brother Jim: Matthew chapter four.
-
Brother Jim: Satan tried.
-
Brother Jim: He tried to tempt Jesus with power.
-
Brother Jim: Oh yeah.
-
Brother Jim: How about a little pride?
-
Brother Jim: Sprinkle on that and short cuts.
-
Brother Jim: Everybody loves a good shortcut, don't they, David?
-
David: Absolutely.
-
David: Especially us.
-
Brother Jim: Guys. Yes. Shortcuts.
-
Brother Jim: I'm not talking about your your, uh, you know, when you're
-
Brother Jim: hopping in your car and putting on your, uh, you know where you
-
Brother Jim: want to go there.
-
Brother Jim: I'm talking about your life because sometimes that takes
-
Brother Jim: hard work, doesn't it?
-
Brother Jim: Yep.
-
Brother Jim: To get what you want to get where God wants you to be.
-
Brother Jim: And yeah, sometimes we're looking for shortcuts.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, but Jesus resisted him.
-
Brother Jim: That's the key word.
-
Brother Jim: Jesus resisted him using the words of God.
-
Brother Jim: This teaches teaches you and I an important lesson.
-
Brother Jim: God's word is our weapon against temptation.
-
Brother Jim: Satan wants to destroy our faith.
-
Brother Jim: He wants to destroy our relationships, and he wants to
-
Brother Jim: destroy our lives.
-
Brother Jim: But temptation, as I said earlier, it's.
-
Brother Jim: It itself is not a sin.
-
Brother Jim: Giving into it is.
-
Brother Jim: Well, Jim, what do you mean?
-
Brother Jim: What are temptations, David?
-
Brother Jim: We face good guys.
-
Brother Jim: Us good guys.
-
David: I mean, temptations of the flesh
-
David: are all around us every day,
-
David: right?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
David: I mean, that's hard to avoid.
-
Brother Jim: How about the temple, brother?
-
Brother Jim: How about the temple?
-
Brother Jim: Our temple?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: What are we putting in?
-
Brother Jim: How are we taking care of our temple?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, well, Jim, I know there's no. Well, Jim about it because I
-
Brother Jim: am guilty as charged.
-
Brother Jim: You know, I was thinking of that the other day.
-
Brother Jim: What am I doing?
-
Brother Jim: You know, Dave and I was talking before the show here, and it's
-
Brother Jim: so hard because it seems like you're on the right path.
-
Brother Jim: You're doing well, taking care of yourself.
-
Brother Jim: And before you know it, and I
-
Brother Jim: told David, for me, I think it's
-
Brother Jim: stress.
-
Brother Jim: You fall into those not so healthy choices in life.
-
Brother Jim: You know, I said my pop
-
Brother Jim: consumption again is
-
Brother Jim: skyrocketed.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Why?
-
Brother Jim: It's it's maybe it's like your morning coffee.
-
Brother Jim: How many of us now, I'm not a coffee drinker, but how many of
-
Brother Jim: us have to have that cup of coffee in the morning?
-
Brother Jim: No, I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with coffee, but
-
Brother Jim: if we're going to start splitting hairs, it's a
-
Brother Jim: stimulant, isn't it?
-
Brother Jim: And one cup.
-
Brother Jim: That's cool.
-
Brother Jim: But what happens when you got two?
-
Brother Jim: Three?
-
Brother Jim: You're drinking the whole pot before dinner or lunch.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, that could be a problem.
-
Brother Jim: No different than me chugging down the old Sunkist here.
-
Brother Jim: One hundred and fifty calories.
-
Brother Jim: And let's see.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, sugar.
-
Brother Jim: Sugar, sugar.
-
Brother Jim: Total sugar, forty one grams.
-
Brother Jim: Now, I don't know how many grams
-
Brother Jim: of sugar we're supposed to have
-
Brother Jim: a day, David, but I'm guessing
-
Brother Jim: one can probably puts me over
-
Brother Jim: the limit.
-
David: At least puts you close.
-
David: Close?
-
Brother Jim: Yes, yes.
-
Brother Jim: And again, I like, you know, moderation.
-
Brother Jim: If you like your ice cream.
-
Brother Jim: Hey, Easter's coming up, you know, have a piece of pie.
-
Brother Jim: Maybe two.
-
Brother Jim: Treat yourself.
-
Brother Jim: But again, what are we putting in?
-
Brother Jim: Because what happens when we start doing it every day?
-
Brother Jim: That's where you know, and you
-
Brother Jim: start thinking of all the
-
Brother Jim: things, especially our food
-
Brother Jim: today, what we're putting in our
-
Brother Jim: body.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, getting the appropriate sleep.
-
Brother Jim: That's where David, the good old reels comes in.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: How many of us and I'm just
-
Brother Jim: bringing this up, are guilty of
-
Brother Jim: sitting there at night watching
-
Brother Jim: videos instead of putting the
-
Brother Jim: phone?
-
Brother Jim: I think they say go dark an hour before you go to sleep.
-
Brother Jim: You know, shut your phone off.
-
Brother Jim: I sleep with my phone right next to me.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Now one, that's our we don't
-
Brother Jim: have a home line now, but still
-
Brother Jim: it's you.
-
Brother Jim: Wake up.
-
Brother Jim: I seems like three o'clock, four o'clock.
-
Brother Jim: You wake up.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, see what the weather's looking like, then, you know?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And before you know it, you've blown two hours and you want to
-
Brother Jim: go back to sleep, and it's time to get up.
-
David: Yep.
-
Brother Jim: Are you giving your body the proper rest?
-
Brother Jim: So again, these little temptations that, uh, those to
-
Brother Jim: me are the big ones.
-
Brother Jim: Now it's trying to hone it down and get a smooth polish.
-
Brother Jim: And there's still a lot of ruts, you know, that fine work is
-
Brother Jim: where it's at now.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, but with God's help, we can resist.
-
Brother Jim: Satan is powerful, but not equal to God.
-
Brother Jim: No, sir.
-
Brother Jim: He's not.
-
Brother Jim: Sometimes people think of Satan as if he were equal to God.
-
Brother Jim: But no, that is a big old fat lie.
-
Brother Jim: It's not true.
-
Brother Jim: Satan is not equal to God.
-
Brother Jim: Satan is a created being and God is the creator of everything.
-
Brother Jim: But it was Satan's pride, Satan's choice, just like ours,
-
Brother Jim: to rebel, to rebel.
-
Brother Jim: Satan's power is limited.
-
Brother Jim: The Bible reminds us in James four seven therefore submit to
-
Brother Jim: God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, he will flee from you.
-
Brother Jim: Notice what that verse says when we submit, that means giving it
-
Brother Jim: to God and resist the devil.
-
Brother Jim: He must flee.
-
Brother Jim: That means believers are not helpless.
-
Brother Jim: But are we a little bit lazy sometimes, David?
-
David: Only sometimes.
-
David: Yeah. A lot.
-
Brother Jim: I am.
-
Brother Jim: I'm still doing it.
-
Brother Jim: You know, I got I suffer from
-
Brother Jim: the knucklehead syndrome, you
-
Brother Jim: know?
-
Brother Jim: But the greatest truth for Christians is that Jesus Christ
-
Brother Jim: has already defeated Satan.
-
Brother Jim: Yes he has.
-
Brother Jim: Through his death and resurrection, Jesus broke the
-
Brother Jim: power of sin and darkness.
-
Brother Jim: Colossians two verse fifteen.
-
Brother Jim: Having disarmed principalities and powers, he made a public
-
Brother Jim: spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
-
Brother Jim: The Bible teaches that Christ
-
Brother Jim: triumphed over the powers of
-
Brother Jim: evil, and one day Satan will be
-
Brother Jim: completely defeated.
-
Brother Jim: In revelation twenty, we see that Satan's final destiny is
-
Brother Jim: judgment just like ours.
-
Brother Jim: Evil will not win.
-
Brother Jim: God will.
-
Brother Jim: We know that as believers in
-
Brother Jim: Christ, we know that it's from
-
Brother Jim: His Word.
-
Brother Jim: But how should Christians respond?
-
Brother Jim: Knowing who Satan is should not make us afraid.
-
Brother Jim: Instead, it should make us alert
-
Brother Jim: and be prepared, alert and being
-
Brother Jim: prepared.
-
Brother Jim: So let me ask you something, friends.
-
Brother Jim: Are you alert of the devil?
-
Brother Jim: Satan's tricks and are you prepared for it?
-
Brother Jim: Christians, you and I can stand strong by staying close to God
-
Brother Jim: through prayer, reading, and obeying the Bible.
-
Brother Jim: His word surrounding.
-
Brother Jim: Here's a big one surrounding ourselves with other believers.
-
Brother Jim: Does that make a difference, David?
-
David: Absolutely.
-
David: It does.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. What's that old saying?
-
Brother Jim: Hang out with dogs and you're bound.
-
David: To get fleas.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And it's true.
-
Brother Jim: Now, I have noticed you just
-
Brother Jim: it's part of that transformation
-
Brother Jim: process.
-
Brother Jim: You start to gravitate away.
-
Brother Jim: I still love my friends, but I
-
Brother Jim: have more in common with fellow
-
Brother Jim: believers.
-
Brother Jim: You know, not saying I don't
-
Brother Jim: like to get the hey, buddy, how
-
Brother Jim: you doing?
-
Brother Jim: You know?
-
Brother Jim: But yeah, it's surrounding ourselves with other believers.
-
Brother Jim: And have you found David, when
-
Brother Jim: you surround yourself with
-
Brother Jim: negative people and it's easy, I
-
Brother Jim: do it.
-
Brother Jim: I fall into that negativity,
-
Brother Jim: boy, before you know it, you're
-
Brother Jim: negative too.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: It's And that's a self for me because poor David here, he
-
Brother Jim: hears so much of me complaining.
-
Brother Jim: You know my frustration, which I think it's healthy to have
-
Brother Jim: somebody you can vent to, but yet I don't want to be that guy
-
Brother Jim: that makes David feel.
-
Brother Jim: Or my Miss Ida or Dan here feel all man.
-
Brother Jim: What's there to live for?
-
Brother Jim: Geez.
-
Brother Jim: No, you got to surround yourselves with upbeat people,
-
Brother Jim: believers in Christ.
-
Brother Jim: Ones who are jolly.
-
Brother Jim: Who would you rather hang out with?
-
Brother Jim: A Karen or a, you know, like a Susie, that man, it's just fun
-
Brother Jim: to be around, right?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Resisting temptation.
-
Brother Jim: Quickly trusting in the power of Jesus Christ.
-
Brother Jim: When we walk with God, we do not fight alone.
-
Brother Jim: So who is Satan?
-
Brother Jim: He's a fallen angel who rebelled against God.
-
Brother Jim: He is the adversary who deceives and tempts.
-
Brother Jim: But again, he is not all
-
Brother Jim: powerful and he is not
-
Brother Jim: victorious.
-
Brother Jim: Jesus Christ has already overcome him.
-
Brother Jim: Therefore, let us stay faithful,
-
Brother Jim: stay watchful and stay close to
-
Brother Jim: God.
-
Brother Jim: When we stand with Christ, we stand on the side that has
-
Brother Jim: already already has the victory in their win column.
-
Brother Jim: Amen.
-
Brother Jim: Well, my friends, that just about does it for this.
-
Brother Jim: Tuesday, March thirtieth, twenty twenty six.
-
Brother Jim: Mr. David, my friend, closing
-
Brother Jim: thoughts or comments for this
-
Brother Jim: little segment.
-
David: Had an interesting thought that I had always been told.
-
David: It's pretty simple, but I think we need reminded that the devil
-
David: doesn't know your thoughts.
-
David: He doesn't know what you're thinking.
-
David: He can't know what you're thinking.
-
David: He only knows what you say out loud.
-
David: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Very true.
-
David: So, you know if it's in your head, either keep it that way or
-
David: get it out.
-
David: But don't you know, don't speak it because you're speaking
-
David: something and he can.
-
David: Ah.
-
David: Okay.
-
David: All right, I see.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Very true.
-
Brother Jim: And I'm bad about talking to myself, you know, and yeah,
-
Brother Jim: letting the cat out of the bag, if you will.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And, uh, he hit it on the head there.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, but again, if we're in
-
Brother Jim: constant worship, constant
-
Brother Jim: prayer.
-
Brother Jim: What's coming out of your mouth is going to be a whole lot
-
Brother Jim: better and doesn't give him that opening, you know?
-
Brother Jim: Alrighty, maybe you've got some comments or segments.
-
Brother Jim: Let us know.
-
Brother Jim: We'd love to hear from you.
-
Brother Jim: How do you deal with temptation?
-
Brother Jim: How do you deal fighting Satan?
-
Brother Jim: If you need a prayer request, if you need help, let us know.
-
Brother Jim: We will gladly pray for you, our
-
Brother Jim: friends, as we close, please
-
Brother Jim: remember you.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, you have meaning.
-
Brother Jim: You have value and most of all you are loved.
-
Brother Jim: May God continue to bless you.
-
Brother Jim: And just as well, may you and I
-
Brother Jim: continue to thank our Lord above
-
Brother Jim: for our blessings each and every
-
Brother Jim: day.
-
Brother Jim: And if we meet again, well, then we will smile and rejoice.
-
Brother Jim: And if not, then this parting was well made.
-
Brother Jim: Thank you for joining, David.
-
Brother Jim: Miss Ida Lee, Mr. Dan the
-
Brother Jim: Chicken Man, and myself this
-
Brother Jim: morning here on Bible bibs and
-
Brother Jim: prayer.
-
Brother Jim: This is the big guy, brother Jim.
-
Brother Jim: Out.
