  1. Presence is God. There's none like you, Lord.

  2. There's none beside you, Lord, we honor you, Jesus tonight.

  3. Hallelujah, Jesus. Sweetest name I know.

  4. Hallelujah, Jesus, God. We want to know what it feels

  5. like, God, where heaven touches earth.

  6. That's our slogan. That's our motto.

  7. We're having an earth connect. Amen.

  8. Want to know where heaven touches earth?

  9. Jacob said that there was a ladder that reached up to

  10. heaven. There's a ladder that reached up

  11. to heaven. He seen angels ascending and

  12. descending upon the ladder. On the top thereof was the gate

  13. of heaven. Amen.

  14. And always amazes me that it wasn't that the angels

  15. descended, then ascended, but they ascended then descended.

  16. They were already there. They were already there, Amen.

  17. And I know that wherever we gather tonight that He is

  18. already here, His Spirit is already here.

  19. Angels, angels. It wasn't that long ago I

  20. preached along the line about angels are indicative of His

  21. presence. We seek sometimes to have an

  22. Angel, but we just get His presence and you have it all.

  23. Amen. Just a few announcements before

  24. we get started here this evening.

  25. Remember the tomorrow night is Power Hour from 7:00 to 8:00.

  26. Prayer here at the church and so come be a part of that.

  27. This Sunday of course, is Resurrection Sunday AM service

  28. only. It will end our Sunday School

  29. campaign as far as an official contest, but that never ends

  30. right, Never ends inviting someone to the House of the Lord

  31. or having them come. Also our candy rain will happen

  32. if there's not real rain happening all right, or if

  33. conditions are not good for it, we won't if there's lightning.

  34. I don't want four or five guys standing on the roof out there.

  35. I'm just everybody on the ground is fine.

  36. It's those people on the roof. I'm worried.

  37. No metal roof at that. But nonetheless, I would have

  38. our candy rain and door prizes be given away on Sunday as well.

  39. And also just you kind of put on your calendar, this really

  40. pertains to whether or not you're part of the winning team.

  41. But on April the 18th, that's a Saturday at 4:00 PM, that's when

  42. the winning team will be having their meal at login, Saturday

  43. the 18th at 4:00 PM. So if you end up winning, that's

  44. when you need to show up at the login in order to have your meal

  45. taken care of and with your teammates.

  46. From the past four weeks leading into this Sunday, also the 19th,

  47. the 19th of April, in the evening service will have

  48. missionary roads and they will be here.

  49. They've just been recently appointed for.

  50. So we want to invite them and make them feel at home as they

  51. come. And also then in April, I'm

  52. saying April because April's the first folks.

  53. And that's not a April Fool's joke.

  54. It is all right, the fool have said in his heart there is no

  55. God. OK.

  56. And so we're showing up because we know there is one.

  57. But nonetheless, the 28th, the 26th rather a Sunday will be our

  58. camp focus. Sunday it'll we'll have time for

  59. prayer for camp that's coming up in the month of July.

  60. We'll also be taking up an offering for camp and that kind

  61. of helps offset the cost of camp.

  62. It doesn't totally take care of it, but it kind of helps offset

  63. the cost. If you are planning on going to

  64. camp meeting this year, the 27th of this month is important to

  65. you because that's registration. The day that registration opens,

  66. folks, I'm telling you it's like a wrestling match to get a room

  67. and so you want to mark that day on your calendar.

  68. If you have plans to go camp, you can go to the Indiana

  69. District Facebook page. It's probably on ours too.

  70. But nonetheless, there's prices already listened there.

  71. So you, you don't have to, you know, ahead of time as you're

  72. getting into it. And so just be mindful Amen, of

  73. that tonight as well. If there's anything else, my

  74. wife will help me get it all situated here at the end of

  75. service. Amen, Amen.

  76. You may be seated tonight in Jesus name, Brother Zach, if you

  77. can get me started up there here this evening.

  78. We're coming together and I, I, I announced this before coming

  79. here tonight. Other services tonight.

  80. We're going to celebrate, we're going to celebrate communion.

  81. We're going to celebrate foot washing.

  82. These are two things that Jesus and his disciples participated

  83. in before the death and the burial and the crucifixion of

  84. the Lord. In most years, I have done it

  85. either at the end of the year, at the beginning of the year.

  86. But this year I thought we'll do it close to Resurrection Sunday,

  87. kind of in tandem with the way that Scripture plays things out

  88. concerning the communion and foot washing.

  89. And so they're both really happened within the same night,

  90. the same period of time. And so that's the reason why

  91. we've coupled them together. There have been other times

  92. we've taken just one Wednesday, Sister Raven on on foot washing,

  93. the other one on communion. And there's enough information

  94. in the Bible to do that. But we're going to try to

  95. condense it down tonight. And I don't always do a good job

  96. at the condensing stuff. OK.

  97. I was looking over past years and I still went 50 minutes an

  98. hour. And so I'm I'm going to try to

  99. do better this year. Like really going to try to do

  100. better with that tonight. We can go to the next slide

  101. there, Brother Zach, this evening.

  102. Really communion foot washing are theologically tied, in my

  103. opinion, according to the Word of God, theologically tied to

  104. what the Scripture says was the 2 greatest commandments.

  105. We read of these in the New Testament.

  106. A lawyer comes into the Lord and he's asking him which which of

  107. these are the greatest commandments?

  108. And the Lord speaks back to him. Number one, of course, he goes

  109. back to Deuteronomy in six and four.

  110. Hero is with the Lord. Our God is 1 Lord.

  111. But as Deuteronomy continues, it says that thou shalt love the

  112. Lord thy God with all of thy heart.

  113. And then we get to the next part of it, and I shalt love thy

  114. neighbor as thyself. I see communion and foot washing

  115. depicting these two greatest commandments that are spoken up

  116. in Scripture that Jesus spoke of in scripture #1 a love, a love

  117. for God, or even a love from God if we could state it like that.

  118. Because we only according to first, second, third, John, we

  119. only love the Lord because He first loved us.

  120. So we would even be at a place of a incapability of loving Him

  121. had he not first loved us. We read the scriptures in

  122. Romans. Scarcely for a righteous man

  123. would one die, yet pre adventure for a good man some would even

  124. dare to die. But God commended his love

  125. toward us, and that while we were yet sinners, He died for

  126. us. And so it's because of his love

  127. toward us that we are able to reciprocate that love then back

  128. to him. And so in that mode of, of

  129. communion, right, of taking of the bread and the fruit of the

  130. vine that we recall and remember and we have that grace that we

  131. received and we're reciprocating that love back to the Lord.

  132. And when we do that, of course we are, we are remembering.

  133. He says often as you do these things, do them in remembrance

  134. of me. We are remembering the sacrifice

  135. of Calvary. We're remembering in that mode.

  136. We're remembering that catonine tails that was laid to his back

  137. with that metal and bone that was entwined in there.

  138. We're remembering that crown of thorns that was plated on his

  139. head, that spear that went through his side, that blood and

  140. water came out, the nailing of the hands and the feet.

  141. We're remembering all of that, remembering the agony, the

  142. mockery. We're remembering all of that.

  143. And then remembering that that was done for us, that it should

  144. have been me hanging there. It should have been me going

  145. through that torment and that agony and pain, But it was the

  146. Lord. And He's filled that gap for me.

  147. And so as often as I do this, I do this in remembrance of Him.

  148. It's my love of my love toward God and of course His love that

  149. has already been displayed toward me, a man through through

  150. Calvary and what took place at Calvary.

  151. But then when we talk about foot washing, Brother Reese, it's

  152. that second, that other command that Jesus spoke of and that is

  153. loving our neighbor as ourself. Because just as much as I have

  154. been extended grace and love, then I am also extending that

  155. grace and love in a horizontal manner to others, right?

  156. Those that are around about me. And so whenever we we wash feet,

  157. if you participate in washing feet, it is an essence of

  158. illustration. Well, Brother McGee, I can

  159. illustrate my love in a lot of different ways.

  160. You could. I could illustrate love in a lot

  161. of different ways. I could illustrate humility in a

  162. lot of different ways. You could, but there is just

  163. some something intimate about foot washing and there is

  164. something humbling, whether you're the one that is receiving

  165. it or the one that is doing it. There is a humbling practice

  166. that takes place. And, and really, as we'll get in

  167. tonight, there is really a a forgiveness that can happen in a

  168. mode of, of washing whenever there is wrong or there's sisms

  169. in the body, one between the other.

  170. I tell you what, a good old foot washing session can just bring

  171. attitudes and frustrations and bad concepts of each other can

  172. just kind of bring those things down when you're kneeling at

  173. somebody's feet and you're being washed by someone else with

  174. their hands, a service 1 to the other.

  175. And so both sides of this equation then have to do with

  176. love, have to do with love, love for God, from God, love to your

  177. fellow man and then from your fellow man.

  178. And so that's what we're looking at this evening.

  179. But going on to the next slide, brother Alex, you've changed up

  180. there. OK, Zach, you looked a little

  181. different. OK, Don't you guys be doing that

  182. to me. Amen.

  183. But when we talked about when we talked about communion,

  184. communion really finds it's, it's it's place in the Old

  185. Testament, the Passover. And then we find that it's

  186. instituted in the Gospels. Jesus even kind of uses Passover

  187. to introduce the Lord's Supper. It's instituted in the Gospels.

  188. And it's then in First Corinthians chapter #11 we see

  189. the observation of it taking place.

  190. And the Apostle Paul kind of given some other guidance about

  191. what is proper and not proper in all of those things.

  192. But as we go back in the Old Testament, we talk about

  193. communion. Quinonio Quinonia, rather, is

  194. the Greek word that means commune.

  195. In the New Testament, it means partnership.

  196. It means fellowship. But here's the thing.

  197. Usually when you talk about communion or communing with

  198. someone, you have to have something common between the two

  199. of you to come together on. And herein lies a difficulty.

  200. How can we commune with God? Vastly different.

  201. Big chasm between US and God. Vastly different.

  202. What would humanity have in common with God to have

  203. communion or fellowship or partner?

  204. We got to have something in common, and that's where the

  205. bread and the fruit of vine or the body and the blood come in

  206. place, because God manifested himself in the flesh, according

  207. to Timothy, as a result of that sister grace, then we had

  208. something in common. Before.

  209. What would there be between God and humanity?

  210. Nothing. But since God became a man, we

  211. have something in common and communion.

  212. We come then and center ourselves in around that

  213. commonality, right of body and blood, Amen.

  214. And so when we look at this, we go back to the Otessa, I'm

  215. already tell I'm dragging my feet, ain't I got to pick it up,

  216. put it down, Amen. But we go back to the Otessa, we

  217. go back to the Tabernacle because the Lord told Moses in

  218. the Tabernacle system of that holies of holies, where the Ark

  219. of the Covenant was, where the mercy seat was up on the Ark of

  220. the Covenant. And there were cherubim on

  221. either side of that Ark of the Covenant made of gold.

  222. That was the place that the priest, according to the book of

  223. Hebrews, would go in once a year.

  224. But the Bible says not without blood, not without blood, He

  225. would go in there. He'd sprinkled that blood there

  226. and there would be communion with God.

  227. The Lord would come down in a cloud between those cherubim on

  228. that mercy seat and commune with that priest.

  229. That was our communion was that. But it could not happen without

  230. blood. And so with that comes the the

  231. given. That blood came from a body.

  232. Blood came from a sacrificial animal.

  233. And so just as much as there was blood that blood necessitated,

  234. there had to be a container, there had to be a body.

  235. And so communion then happened, hinged upon those two pegs, 2

  236. prongs of both blood and body that facilitated or enable bear

  237. being communion being able to take place at the Ark of the

  238. Covenant. Amen.

  239. And so the Bible says, and I made mention that in Hebrews 9

  240. and seven, you'll probably waffle back and forth, but into

  241. the second, Speaking of that second, that area, not the holy

  242. place, but the Holy of Holies with the high priest alone once

  243. every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and

  244. for the heirs of the people. And so sweet communion took

  245. place because of body and blood. That's a Old Testament, that's a

  246. Old Testament establishment. But again, our communion takes

  247. place because God made Himself a body, and there was body and

  248. blood all right for the sake of the redeeming of mankind.

  249. Because without blood, according to Leviticus and Hebrews,

  250. without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins

  251. for you and I. But when we look at Passover,

  252. the Old Testament Passover, and Feast of Passover that was

  253. initiated in the Exodus chapter #12 if you'll recall, the

  254. Israelites are in captivity in Egypt.

  255. There's been a myriad of plagues that have went through.

  256. Each plague has been aimed at a dog, the Egyptians.

  257. The final plague that is to come upon Egypt is that the death of

  258. their first born, the death of their first born.

  259. But Moses has been commissioned by God that on this night that

  260. if you Israelites will take the blood of the lamb and you will

  261. strike it up on your doorpost and up on your lentil, when are

  262. the death Angel passes by and it sees that blood, it will pass

  263. over your households. Death will not come.

  264. Now you're dwelling. And it's this very, this very

  265. institution of Passover that was the springboard for the

  266. deliverance of the children of Israel out of their Egyptian

  267. bondage. And so they were to take the

  268. blood of a lamb and put it on their lentil upon their door

  269. post post. And that night when the deaf

  270. Angel passed by and it's taken the first born of Pharaoh even

  271. down to the one, the popper that's in a dungeon.

  272. And even of the cattle, the Bible says where the blood was,

  273. there was safety. And so they were able to leave

  274. that night. The children of Israel was able

  275. to leave that night, again with safety, with deliverance, with

  276. redemption from bondage because of blood.

  277. But where there's blood, there's always a body.

  278. There was a lamb. And so again, upon those two

  279. things of blood, a man and the body.

  280. Here is a group of people that were incarcerated, bound slaves,

  281. if you will, now set free and able to go free again.

  282. All of that is casting a very big foreshadowing for New

  283. Testament scripture of our freedom, of how we were bound to

  284. sin. And I believe some of those

  285. things are up there for you. Just for a comparison and a

  286. contrast from the Passover and the Last Supper.

  287. The Bible says, and I'm going to go to Exodus 12 verse #17

  288. Brother Alex. The Bible says, and you shall

  289. observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

  290. For in this self same day have I brought your armies.

  291. I always love the Scripture. I'll do it now until I die.

  292. Brought your armies out of the land of Egypt.

  293. Therefore shall you observe this day in your generations by an

  294. ordinance forever. I always love this verse.

  295. We got slaves 430 years in Egypt.

  296. Slaves. They're told what to do, when to

  297. do, how to do. They're slaves.

  298. They are not the picture of an army.

  299. They are the incarcerated, they are the subjected.

  300. But the Bible says in the self same night, because of blood and

  301. because of a body, that they left Egypt not as slaves, but as

  302. an army. An army is, it's in rank, An

  303. army is marshalled. An army is put together.

  304. These are not a bunch of people that don't know their left hand

  305. from the right hand or they're just in just total despair.

  306. No, this is an army. This is an army on the move.

  307. Matter of fact, Lord told Moses, he said when you eat that's lamb

  308. tonight, he said make sure that you have your staff in your

  309. hand, have your shoes on your feet and do it in haste because

  310. you're going to be moving out of the condition that you're

  311. presently in. You're going to be moving out of

  312. this. And so I think it's important

  313. tonight that we don't just come together and take communion.

  314. We're looking at dead stare over in left field, you know, and

  315. we're like thumbing our head and halfway sleep.

  316. No, we are alert because actually communion is about a

  317. transition. Communion is about movement,

  318. right? Even it's about movement.

  319. And it's what took place in that night.

  320. And when we take the night, we, we, we remember, we remember all

  321. of that. We were, they were bound.

  322. But because of a body and blood, we are now free as an army that

  323. is marshalled 4th. And so that's very important, I

  324. believe this evening. So you look there before you on

  325. this slide, the shadow to the substance again.

  326. So you have the sacrificing, the sacrificing of the blood of a

  327. slain lamb in the New Testament with the Lords Passover, what

  328. will take place? You're going to have the body

  329. that is bruised of Christ Jesus, all right, The blood that was

  330. shed for all, right? He was a ransom for all.

  331. We have the blood struck on the, the doorposts and such.

  332. We have blood that shed for the removal or the remission of our

  333. sins, Deliverance of the Old Testament of the Israelites from

  334. Egypt in the New Testament, the Lord's Supper again of our

  335. bondage from sin, Amen. Because we are, we are captives

  336. to sin. You were born into the world

  337. that way. You're a captive unto sin.

  338. But the result, again, the slaves became army.

  339. And then us who were sinners now become a part of this thing

  340. called the church triumphant, Amen.

  341. And that is a glorious thing, Amen.

  342. Going on tonight where we talk about communion, there are a few

  343. different directions, Amen, that that we can look toward whenever

  344. we do communion tonight. You can find these in First

  345. Corinthians chapter #11 like verses 26 through 29.

  346. They are, they are there in the Scripture and I might even go to

  347. a few of them. But one, one thing that we can

  348. do, we look back. We've already spoke about that.

  349. We can look back to Calvary. We can look back with a

  350. gratitude of the sacrifice and the remission of sins that was

  351. afforded us through that sacrifice.

  352. The Bible says this in verse #26.

  353. For as often as you eat the bread and drink this cup, you do

  354. shew the Lord's death till he come.

  355. So not only do we look back, but we also look forward.

  356. Because Christ said when he was with his disciples and he took

  357. communion with them, he said, I will not do this again.

  358. We will not share this again until we come into my Kingdom.

  359. He's making a reference to the marriage supper of the lamb.

  360. That's after the Rapture, that's after this, that's after all of

  361. that is taking place. He says we'll do this again when

  362. we come to my Kingdom. And so taking communion isn't

  363. just looking on back there what was done, but it's looking

  364. forward to a day, looking forward to a day when at that

  365. moment there'll be no more sorrow, no more pain, no more

  366. despair, no more sickness, no more disease.

  367. In that day it will be taken again.

  368. Christ said, I'll, I'll renew it with you in that day.

  369. So it's not just about what has happened, it's about where we

  370. are going. And so as we take immune

  371. tonight, that's what we're talking about.

  372. This blood and this, this, this body, this bread and this fruit

  373. of the vine. I'm still looking forward to

  374. something. I'm not just thankful for what's

  375. happened. I'm looking forward to

  376. something. Listen, if you don't have

  377. something to look for tonight beyond this life on this earth,

  378. you need the experience of Calvary for the experience of

  379. the marriage supper, Amen. Amen.

  380. And so we, we can look backward, then we look backward.

  381. Amen. At Calvary, verse #26 tells us,

  382. all right. And then we also, though we look

  383. forward a man according to verse #26 and verse 28, though it

  384. tells us, but let a man examine himself.

  385. And so let him eat that bread and drink that cup.

  386. In other words, tonight we will, before we do this, this evening,

  387. we'll have a time of prayer. We'll look introspectively into

  388. our own lives, right? Anything that may need to be

  389. made right in the sight of God. We're going to examine

  390. ourselves, right? Going to examine ourselves Lord,

  391. you know, you know you know my uprising and my down sitting and

  392. my thought afar off. David said you're acquainted

  393. with all of my ways. There's not a word in my mouth,

  394. O Lord, but thou knowest it all together.

  395. Search me O God. He started out that with search

  396. me O God, and know my heart right and so that that's that

  397. should be. Repentance is not a one time

  398. practice leading into your baptism and Holy Ghost

  399. infilling. Repentance is a daily thing.

  400. The reason why Paul said he died daily, he was referencing

  401. repentance. I'm going to take this old man

  402. to the cross daily, right? Because I guarantee you there's

  403. something this old man that needs to die or it's trying to

  404. rear its head again today, right?

  405. And so there is a there is a daily dying.

  406. And so I examined, we examine ourselves, we look inward, but

  407. also we also consider one, one another.

  408. Look at verse #29 for he that Edith and drinketh unworthy

  409. lead. And we'll look at that here in a

  410. minute. Edith and drinketh damnation or

  411. judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

  412. So there there was a problem in Corinthians 11.

  413. They just kind of treated this whole communion session just as

  414. every other potluck. OK Oh, they got the moon here to

  415. the rain, you know, and it was even a part of what they called

  416. Love Feast. And there would be other food

  417. there. And people were coming in and

  418. they were just gorging themselves and drinking and they

  419. were being inconsiderate, as happens Brother James at

  420. Potlucks. Well, let's talk about that for

  421. a little bit. You know, people going in there

  422. and they're piling up their plate and they're the first one

  423. in line. They still got 60 people behind

  424. them. Well, let's not get too touchy

  425. there, huh? But in doing so, it's

  426. inconsiderate. You have no consideration for

  427. others that are there. And that was what was taking

  428. place in this setting. There was no consideration.

  429. And so that consideration, though, is being there's other

  430. people, other members of the body here.

  431. So in one respect, they're not discerning the Lord's body,

  432. Other members of the body. It's not just about you and it's

  433. not just about you. There's others to consider, but

  434. also not discerning them. There's there's bread here

  435. that's symbolical of his body. There's fruit of the vine here

  436. that's symbolical of his blood. There's a certain amount of

  437. reverence. Yes, you say, well, it's there's

  438. just symbols. Well, true, but Moses mite in

  439. the rock twice kept him out of the promised land and it was

  440. just a rock and it said that rock that followed them was

  441. Christ. So you know, we entered this

  442. time with with reverence, right? Thinking about this, taking this

  443. consideration. So we look in, we look around

  444. discerning the Lord's body, we look at in the past, we look in

  445. the future, all of these things, right?

  446. We're looking with intent in the book of First Corinthians

  447. chapter #11 verse #29 and the next slide also, so you can show

  448. the Scripture 1st and then you go to slide, Brother Alex, verse

  449. #29 of First Corinthians 11, that word unworthily.

  450. Unworthily. A lot of people over the years

  451. have got so stumped up over this passage, and it's mentioned

  452. again then a little later, unworthily because they get this

  453. mindset. Well, communion is only about

  454. those who are worthy. The unworthy and unworthily are

  455. two different words #1 unworthy is an adjective, It's going to

  456. describe a noun. Unworthily.

  457. That little LY, that's an adverb.

  458. It's going to describe a verb action.

  459. Because if we would consider it today, we'd say, well, only the

  460. worthy can partake of communion. Someone opened the back door so

  461. we all can just make our way home.

  462. Because I'm not worthy. The best quotation marks among

  463. us isn't worthy. I don't deserve the body or the

  464. blood. It's not based upon the premise

  465. of deserving, he said. That's the reason why scarcely

  466. for a righteous man, even for a Sinner, he would dare to die.

  467. Wasn't about worthiness. Amen.

  468. And so when we talk about that, then it's not talking about

  469. who's at the table, but it's talking about how we approach

  470. the table, Our, our, our actions, our manner.

  471. Is it a irreverent manner? Are we, are we just taking it

  472. all just lightly? No big deal.

  473. Is it in the disrespectful type manner?

  474. Because clearly that was what was taking place in First

  475. Corinthians #11 that's the reason why the apostle Paul is

  476. calling them on these particular things.

  477. So it's about how we approach the table, right?

  478. With reverence. I'm, I'm unworthy.

  479. You can be unworthy without acting irreverently, huh?

  480. You you might not deserve it, but you can still know the price

  481. of what brought that to you, right, of what brought that to

  482. you. And so we have our heart really

  483. must be in the right spot concerning those things going

  484. on. Then tonight, Brother Alex, the

  485. next slide, we're doing it 23 minutes.

  486. See that ain't bad compared to other years.

  487. Brother Earl, want to switch this a little bit from communion

  488. to look at at foot washing, right?

  489. That horizontal, that horizontal relationship with mankind.

  490. The thing with foot washing, the Lord flipped the script at that

  491. dinner that they had together. He flipped the script.

  492. All the social norms were just totally undone.

  493. I mean, typically if someone was going to have water that was

  494. provided for their feet. The Jews were very big on

  495. showing levels of hospitality even to strangers that may come

  496. by their house. And if they come by their home,

  497. it was customary as a law of hospitality that they would

  498. provide water for the guests feet so that they could wash

  499. their feet right. We see this in different places

  500. of scripture. Abraham did it for the angels

  501. that came to his house before he understood them totally, the

  502. angels providing water for their feet.

  503. Lot provided water for the visitation that he had of angels

  504. there in, in, in Sodom and Gomorrah.

  505. We read in Scripture that even whenever Joseph, the steward of

  506. his house, Joseph's brothers are coming, waters provided for

  507. their feet. And each of those episodes, the

  508. owner of the feet or the person would wash their own feet.

  509. That's what would take place. And so again, it's just

  510. customary that that that's what happens.

  511. And so one of the disciples are gathered together for this meal

  512. and they're going to be eating this meal.

  513. And there's someone hosting this.

  514. Jesus is hosting this meal. They're coming in.

  515. They're thinking, no doubt. We've been on the streets.

  516. We've been walking along these roads.

  517. They're not paved like our interstates or even like, you

  518. know, you know, Cedar St. out here.

  519. We're just talking about dust roads.

  520. You travel the same roads that the animals are traveling.

  521. There's things that come from animals.

  522. You don't want to step in, but when you got big flocks, it's

  523. almost unavoidable. And your shoes are not like

  524. totally closed. They're open toed, open heeled.

  525. They're just like a piece of leather with a little strap.

  526. Katie, Something's bound to get on there.

  527. Whether it be dirt, Whether it be not dirt.

  528. Thank you, Sister Grace. You're working with me tonight.

  529. I appreciate that interaction For the audience.

  530. Yeah, not dirt. So you're coming into the home

  531. here. Surely someone's going to

  532. provide some water for the feet, right?

  533. I mean, we're going to be not sitting at a table, but laying

  534. at a table, usually resting on an elbow.

  535. Feet, yes, are going to be away from the table.

  536. But listen, you're next to a neighbor, and if there's not

  537. dirt there, there's an aroma, huh.

  538. I mean, I'm over here with my lamb's leg.

  539. The last thing I want wafing, you understand?

  540. Surely someone is going to provide some water, but

  541. nothing's provided. As a matter of fact, the Bible

  542. even says that whenever supper was ended that Jesus took off

  543. his robe, which really shakes things up because we had a

  544. typically done this before the meal.

  545. So see, everybody's in a little tenuous place right here.

  546. No, what I was provided, no servants come in.

  547. We've already been eating. Can you imagine?

  548. And what even makes this even bigger for me is leading up to

  549. this time you read in the Gospels, you know, what the

  550. disciples been doing before this moment has ever arrived,

  551. deciding among themselves who's the greatest among them.

  552. Matthew, I know you think you're, you know, a Happy Meal

  553. on the side of fries, but I got the toy or whatever, you know

  554. what I'm saying? They're kind of bantering back

  555. and forth about who's the greatest among them.

  556. So, you know, none of them is going to be stooping down to

  557. wash Peter's feet, Matthew's feet, because that's above me.

  558. No, no, no. But Jesus comes in as the Master

  559. and the Lord, and he takes off his garment, which the garment

  560. of his day indicated, indicated his, his row in life.

  561. So he's kind of removing his identity and he lays that down.

  562. And we got a few towels around here we could use tonight.

  563. And he girts himself with a towel.

  564. Oh, wait a minute, disciples thinking that's Lord and Master.

  565. I need a beach towel spreading in the ministry.

  566. We'll do it like this. Amen.

  567. So what's going on? He's removing what everybody

  568. would identify him by and when it would typically be the lowest

  569. of servants that would do this for another person.

  570. He said me being your master, your Lord been teaching you,

  571. instructing you, none of you washing each other's feet.

  572. So I'll get a pail and I'll get water and I'll assume that role

  573. of a servant, but you call me master, I'll assume that role of

  574. the servant. And he went by and he washed all

  575. important, all the disciples feet.

  576. He didn't pick and choose. He was like, oh, I'll do his,

  577. let's raise it a little bit higher.

  578. This is God manifest in the flesh.

  579. He already knows who's going to betray him.

  580. He already knows who's going to deny him.

  581. He already knows who's going to walk away.

  582. But he didn't let that interfere with stooping before Judas,

  583. stooping before Peter, stooping before every other.

  584. Now, let's just back up and let's get real with humanity for

  585. a moment. The last person anyone would

  586. probably want to wash feet with tonight would be someone you

  587. have something against or that you know has something against

  588. you. But Jesus, he just flips it all.

  589. He provides the water. He kneels and he's driven by his

  590. unconditional love, and he's washing feet one after the

  591. other, after the other, after the other.

  592. And Peter's even a little taken aback by it.

  593. When you read of it in John chapter 13, it's like, Lord you,

    John 13 chapter mention

  594. you're not going to wash my feet.

  595. What's Peter caught in? He's pop caught in the custom.

  596. It's unheard of for someone so superior of a position as you

  597. are to wash feet. He couldn't, he couldn't grapple

  598. with the idea that the Lord was actually going to do this and go

  599. on to our next one, loving them unto the end, the next slide, if

  600. you will, because John 13 one starts out, John 13 one starts

  601. out like that. It's Speaking of Christ Jesus.

  602. And this is what he basically says.

  603. He says now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew

  604. his hour was come, that He should depart out of this world

  605. unto the Father, having loved His own which were in the world.

  606. He loved them unto the end. He loved them into the end.

  607. He loved them through their mistakes.

  608. He loved them through their faults, through their failures.

  609. He loved them to the end. Again, I'm washing Judas's feet.

  610. I mean the little space removed from this moment.

  611. He's going to tell Judas, whatever you do, go, do quickly.

  612. He's going to be leaving because he's going to be betraying later

  613. in the garden hours from this moment in time, but He's washing

  614. Judas's feet. The Bible speaks how Satan they

  615. come into his heart. I all times say this.

  616. Maybe you'll get tired of me saying it over the next 15

  617. years, but I'm going to continue to do it.

  618. Amen here. Something's already happened in

  619. Judas heart, but the Lord has his feet.

  620. I know you got some conflicting things going on there, but I'm

  621. I'm trying to wash I'm if I can say I'm trying to direct.

  622. I got your feet, Peter. Lord, I'd die for you.

  623. Lord, that's not going to happen.

  624. You don't have to worry about me.

  625. I'm going with you all the way. No, no, Peter.

  626. Before the cock crows wise. You're going to deny me thrice.

  627. You're going to tell people. Oh, aren't you one of those

  628. galleons? No.

  629. Aren't you with him? No, I don't know him.

  630. You're going to deny me three times.

  631. But I'm going to stoop here. I'm going to wash your feet.

  632. We give Peter a hard time for what he did.

  633. And that he fled and followed the Lord from a distance of the

  634. Bible says in the Garden of Gethsemane, whenever they came

  635. and arrested the Lord, that all the disciples fled.

  636. And He knew they all would in his darkest hour, if we could

  637. put it in these terms as though he needed them.

  638. But they were. There was that friendship in

  639. that community. When he needed them the most,

  640. they abandoned him. Yet whenever we've needed him

  641. the most, He's always showed up. And so the washing feet going on

  642. to the next library there, Alex, 2 basins, 2 choices startling

  643. that in the same storyline so close together that we have this

  644. and really not too far removed as far as in time frame from one

  645. another. Jesus grabs a basin and water to

  646. wash feet. Doing so again, it was typically

  647. the owner of the feet that washed their own feet.

  648. Always loved this because Jesus doing this for them.

  649. It's almost as though I own you. And so he's taking

  650. responsibility. There's dirt, there's grime on

  651. their feet that they got on their feet because of where they

  652. walked. Huh.

  653. You had to walk right through that, didn't you?

  654. But I'm going to wash it off. So he's taking responsibility,

  655. right? This is his love, sacrificial

  656. love. Yet in the same mode we see just

  657. a little later, a politician punches Pilot.

  658. He grabs a basin 2 and water. He's not washing feet.

  659. He's washing his own hands because he doesn't want any

  660. responsibility, anything to do with the Lord.

  661. Do with him as you will. So you have two separate

  662. individuals, 1A King, another a politician.

  663. One says I'll become responsible.

  664. The other one says I don't want any responsibility.

  665. And folks, if there's anything you would want responsible,

  666. you'd want responsibility for the Lord.

  667. He's like, no, I don't want anything to do with that.

  668. But Jesus says I'll take all the I'll take all the grime, I'll

  669. take all this other stuff, I'll take it up on me.

  670. Amen. And so he grabs those basins and

  671. he washes the disciples feet. So the question you got to ask

  672. yourself, if you're grabbing a basin, are you doing it to

  673. remove yourself from responsibility?

  674. Are you engaging and being responsible?

  675. Well, I ain't going to be responsible for Zach McGee.

  676. Well, what about all those verses about burying one

  677. another's burdens? What about that Galatians 6 of

  678. when you see a brother overtaking the fault you which

  679. your spiritual restore such a Amen going on the physics of

  680. forgiveness, the coefficient of friction.

  681. I'm joking, sorry. Oh physics joke.

  682. So washing one another's feet, going back to the Old Testament

  683. again, the Bible speaks of the priest, that the priest before

  684. they entered the Tabernacle, they were to wash their hands

  685. and their feet so that they would be pure and clean before

  686. the Lord as they would enter into that place.

  687. There's something seen almost then in the washing of feet that

  688. takes place in the Book of Revelation.

  689. The Bible says that He's making us kings and priests.

  690. All right, So with that being said, if we're to have clean

  691. hands and clean feet, there's something that happens.

  692. And I, I don't have one out here to picture it for you tonight,

  693. but as you are washing another person's feet, your hands is in

  694. that same water that's cleansing their feet.

  695. Your hands are there and there's something that happens.

  696. We talked about, and I think I have it up there on probably the

  697. next slide, but there is a mode of forgiveness that you've

  698. received from God. The Bible says that if we cannot

  699. forgive, then he won't forgive because we've been in able to

  700. forgive others because we have been forgiven years ago.

  701. And I've preached forgiveness more than once around here.

  702. But if there's forgiveness found anywhere, it should be in the

  703. House of the forgiven. Oh, I didn't come in here with a

  704. silver spoon in my mouth. He gave me forgiveness.

  705. Who am I then, to withhold forgiveness from anybody else?

  706. Because sometimes I can enter that mode and I can, I can Arbor

  707. some some resentment. I can Arbor some some some

  708. bitterness, right? My hands can be full, if you

  709. will, of grudge and anger, right?

  710. But sometimes I got to lower myself and wash, wash some feet.

  711. And sometimes it's almost like an act of forgiveness.

  712. I'm going to wash some feet. And in doing so, you're washing

  713. some of the resentment and the, the bitterness off of your own

  714. hands because you might be serving the one that offended

  715. you. You know, the only person that

  716. stays bound whenever you're not able to forgive is you.

  717. You've been offended by XYZ. They're going to go on with

  718. their life, but you're going to be held hostage because you've

  719. not forgiven them for what they supposedly done to you.

  720. It's like the little, I said it before, it's like the little

  721. bird got a little, got a little feeder in the tree.

  722. That's my feeder. Eats there all the time.

  723. It stays up in the tree, Missy, watching other birds come to

  724. feed and comes down and chases them away.

  725. Don't want anybody else feeding them my feeder.

  726. But you know what the bird has done?

  727. The bird has incarcerated the freedom of of its life because

  728. it's just constantly sitting there watching the feeder.

  729. It can't go anywhere else, do anywhere else, because it's

  730. bound by what it thinks it deserves.

  731. We Arbor unforgiveness in our spirit sometimes toward people.

  732. The Lord's forgiven us, but we're not willing to let them

  733. go. But we're the ones bound.

  734. We're the ones bound. We're the ones with dirty hands

  735. because we've not allowed ourselves to be lowered.

  736. God has commanded us to wash. In the book of John 13, he says

  737. wash one another's feet. I've given you an example.

  738. Go and do likewise for one another.

  739. Wash one another's feet. And the awesome thing about that

  740. is in the moment that I wash your feet, my hands are getting

  741. clean, your feet are getting clean.

  742. But when we switch my feet are getting clean and your hands

  743. become clean. There is a mutual interdependent

  744. forgiveness that can take place sometimes when we enter with the

  745. mindset of being cleansed and made pure before God going on

  746. got to got to beat my record not of going over under all right,

  747. so the table in the basin. So there's a deep love from God

  748. at the table by the blood and the body, right?

  749. Forgiveness that he's offered me through Calvary at the table.

  750. But then at the basin I'm learning to love again like God.

  751. There's 2 verses of scripture that are that I think are

  752. essential. Matthew 26 and verse 28.

  753. The Bible says this is concerning communion.

  754. He says this is my blood of the New Testament or New Covenant,

  755. which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

  756. Then we read in John 13 this is concerning foot washing a new

  757. commandment. I give to you that you love one

  758. another as I have loved you that you also love one another.

  759. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples.

  760. If you have loved one to another.

  761. And so community says there's a New Testament in my blood and

  762. that is all your old sacrifices and animals of blood of that

  763. year always push your sins forward.

  764. Just one year says, but the New Testament in my blood, the new

  765. covenant in my blood is it's a once for all sacrifice.

  766. Blood don't have to be shed ever again because I'm the perfect

  767. Lamb of God. It's shed once.

  768. You don't have to worry about more blood, bulls and goats.

  769. No, no, no, no. It's a once for all.

  770. It's a New Testament, a new covenant in my blood.

  771. But there's also a new commandment.

  772. He says love one another. Lord, we already got this

  773. commandment. We got this in Deuteronomy.

  774. We got this in the 10 commandments.

  775. We got this. You've already talked about love

  776. one another, but he gives the the impression the major love

  777. one another as I have loved you. Oh, he gives the standard, well,

  778. love, love one as you love yourself.

  779. OK, but for some people they ain't a very good thing, he

  780. says. The standard is love as I have

  781. loved, so I'm loved by God. And then I'm learning how to

  782. love like God and forgiveness isn't just coming to me, but

  783. then it's going out from me and for my brothers and sisters back

  784. to me. I'm in last slide.

  785. So what we're going to do tonight, 42 minutes in and this

  786. gives us time to do what we need to do.

  787. Oh, this is still over here. But what we're going to do

  788. tonight, we'll take communion, the bread and the fruit of the

  789. vine again, in doing so, we're going to stand here in just a

  790. little bit. And as is on that slide right

  791. there, we're going to repent, right?

  792. We're going to acknowledge any shortcomings in our life that

  793. we're aware of. You might even pray some of

  794. those generic prayers of those that you're not aware of, All

  795. right, to have a clean heart before God.

  796. And then we're going to ask God to, you know, things that we may

  797. be arboring in our spirit. Maybe some of those things have

  798. been there for a long time, right?

  799. Because resentment and bitterness that just, that's not

  800. us. That's just not like a turnkey

  801. thing that slowly happens as we allow something to remain, as we

  802. allow something to remain. And so we might ask God to help

  803. us, you know, release some of those things, release some of

  804. that bitterness, release that betrayal, release offenses that

  805. we have. If there's anybody here, listen,

  806. if anybody here has something against somebody right here

  807. tonight, it'd probably a good night to just get taken care of.

  808. Amen. No sense in allowing that bone

  809. chain to continue with you on your journey, but also with all

  810. of those things of repentance and stuff.

  811. And we take the bread and we take the fruit of the vine.

  812. We're also, they'll go look in those four directions, right?

  813. We're examining ourselves. We're looking backward to

  814. Calvary. We're looking forward to the day

  815. that we'll take this anew and his Kingdom and we're

  816. considering the Lord's body. We're considering one another as

  817. many as want to participate tonight.

  818. You can come and get one of these and I'll read some

  819. scripture and we can do this together.

  820. Say why we do this together. Well, again, it's that

  821. communion, it's that unity. When you put the bread in your

  822. mouth, we all have the same taste in our mouth at the same

  823. time. You put that fruit of the vine

  824. in your mouth. We all have that same taste at

  825. the same time. And so there's unification.

  826. If you want to participate tonight, you can come and get

  827. these. Bread is in the top, and of

  828. course, the juice is in the bottom.

  829. And then as you are coming, if you can get me first, First

  830. Corinthians chapter #11 and verse 24.

  831. If it's not up there, that's fine, Brother Alex.

  832. I can do it right from here this evening.

  833. So we're going to repent, we're going to release, we're going to

  834. remember. It says as often as we do it, we

  835. do it in remembrance of him. Some people do this every week,

  836. some do it every quarter, some do it every month.

  837. We do it about once a year. There is no time frame.

  838. But as much as you do do it, we're to do it in remembrance of

  839. him. Because as I do this night with

  840. the Reese, I'm thinking about Calvary.

  841. I'm thinking about the substitute for Paul McGee.

  842. I think that should be a heavy thought, a heavy thought to

  843. consider. There's one little film on the

  844. very top that'll give you access to the communion wafer.

  845. So if you can pull back that little top layer that gives you

  846. access to that communion wafer, the bread or the body.

  847. Remember that's the bruised body, the the pierced body as

  848. illustrated in Scripture. This is just a symbol of that

  849. beat body. The Bible says in first

  850. Corinthians 11 where it was observed, verse 24, we have

  851. given thanks. He break it and said, take, eat.

  852. This is my body which is broken for you.

  853. Do this in remembrance of me. Amen.

  854. Tonight as you take this, if you can just remember the broken

  855. body of the Lord Jesus. Take and eat, Lord, I remember

  856. that you was pierced for me. I remember the stripes upon your

  857. back. God was for my sin and for my

  858. sickness. I remember, O Lord, that that

  859. that that spear through your side, Lord, blood and water came

  860. out. God, I remember, O Lord Jesus,

  861. that there was a crown of thorns upon your head.

  862. God an emblem, Lord of the sin, Lord of Genesis, thorns and

  863. thistles. The ground was cursed with God.

  864. It was for me. It was for me, God.

  865. We're coming up on, Lord at the Resurrection Sunday.

  866. Now we're coming up on Good Friday.

  867. Lord, all of that was for me and I'm appreciative today of it.

  868. I thank you. The Bible says the First

  869. Corinthians, if you pull back that next little layer there

  870. you'll have access to the Jews. The Bible says in First

    1 Corinthians 11:25

  871. Corinthians 11 verse 25 after the same manner also he took the

  872. cup when he had Sup saying this cup is the New Testament in my

  873. blood. This beauty as OFT as you drink

  874. it in remembrance of me, you can take up the cup.

  875. Thank you Lord for the blood of Calvary.

  876. Thank you O Lord, without the shed in the blood there is no

  877. remission. I'm still in my sin.

  878. If there was never no bloodshed. God, that you shed that blood,

  879. Lord, Jesus, you shed that blood.

  880. God, we sing the song that the blood still flows.

  881. The Lord, it still meets people, Lord, it still meets them where

  882. they are and their dilemmas and their troubles and their

  883. heartaches and their pains. God, it's still there.

  884. It's still ample. Lord, I love you, Jesus, I love

  885. you. Jesus, I love you.

  886. Jesus, can you just raise your voice in Thanksgiving right now,

  887. or hands raised into the Lord? God, I look back on Calvary, but

  888. God, I look to a day in the future, God, a day in the

  889. future, that of that same spirit that raised Christ from the

  890. dead, dwell on me. It will quicken my mortal

  891. bodies. God, it will change this mortal

  892. to immortality, this corruptible to incorruptible God, So shall

  893. our change come, I pray, O Lord, we'll drink the new Lord Jesus

  894. in your Kingdom. I pray, O Lord, it's forever a

  895. memorial, Forever. Lord Jesus, a recollection and a

  896. remembrance, God of your sacrifice.

  897. Lord, in our stand, for us, because of us, I thank you, Lord

  898. Jesus, today for it. I praise you, Lord Jesus, today

  899. for it. Thank God, Thank God, thank God,

  900. thank God, thank God, I love you, Jesus, I love you, Jesus, I

  901. love you, Jesus, Oh, the blood of Jesus that washes us as white

  902. as snow. God, our sins were red as

  903. scarlet, but you wash them, Lord, as white as snow.

  904. God, we're grateful today for it.

  905. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.

  906. I was a betrayer of God, but you was there, Lord.

  907. I was a denier, but you were there, God, I fled, but you were

  908. there, always there. God, You're patiently waiting,

  909. Lord, You're caring. Lord, Jesus for me, being

  910. mindful, Lord of me, oh Lord, while I was yet a Sinner, you

  911. died for me. Lord Jesus, God, the death Angel

  912. will pass by. Lord, I'll know death, but I

  913. won't know eternal death and damnation.

  914. Because Lord of the blood, oh Jesus, it gives me strength from

  915. day-to-day, It will never, ever lose its power.

  916. Hallelujah, Jesus, Hallelujah, Jesus, Hallelujah, Jesus, Lord,

  917. oh Lord, oh Lord, oh Lord, oh Lord.

  918. It's not by might nor by power, but God, it's by your spirit,

  919. God, it's because of your spirit, O God, we don't have

  920. anything to offer but our brokenness.

  921. We don't have anything to offer, Lord, but our mistaken lives.

  922. We don't have anything offer, Lord Jesus, but our availability

  923. unto you, O Lord, Hallelujah, Jesus, Hallelujah, Jesus,

  924. Hallelujah, Jesus, Hallelujah, Jesus, Hallelujah.

  925. I love you Jesus. I love you, Jesus.

  926. I love you Jesus. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Amen.

  927. We're going to be dismissed here in just a little bit.

  928. Ladies, go back on the kitchen side if you're going to be

  929. involved in foot washing. Men, we'll be back on this side.

  930. We have the partition closed in between the two.

  931. Ladies can get from water from the kitchen sink.

  932. Men, we'll go to the mud room. That's where men belong in the

  933. mud room. We'll go to the mud room and

  934. we'll get our water. If you desire to participate.

  935. Please remember though, tomorrow night, it's going to be very

  936. easy to forget that tomorrow night's prayer, okay, just

  937. because everything going on. I know this week in everybody's

  938. life, tomorrow night, prayer, their church, church 7 to 8 and

  939. then Resurrection Sunday here at 10, Amen.

  940. One service only. Come and be a part of that.

  941. If you'll stay with me tonight, I'll give a prayer of dismissal,

  942. Amen, For all of us and those who stay may stay.

  943. Those who need to leave or go can go.

  944. Father, I thank you tonight. I praise you, O Lord Jesus, God,

  945. that we enter into this session. Lord, this evening, God, this

  946. time of remembrance, God, as you did, Lord Jesus with your

  947. disciples, God, before that faithful Lord Jesus, weekend of

  948. events, I pray, O Lord, tonight, help help us to go.

  949. Lord, let this be constant on our mind.

  950. Help us to live, Lord, in that mode in the next few days of

  951. remembrance and thinking and consideration, Lord, of

  952. everything that has taken place thousands of years ago for our

  953. benefit. God, I pray, O Lord, be of your

  954. people, help them to have a good week, Lord, as they go their

  955. separate ways, that your hand of protection be upon them and

  956. bring us back on Sunday, God, ready to rejoice, Lord, over a

  957. resurrection, Hallelujah, that still has implications for us

  958. today. In the lovely name of Jesus

  959. Christ that I pray Amen man and Amen.

  960. Can the church say Amen, Amen. If you need dismissed, be

  961. dismissed. If you're going to participate,

  962. you can go to your respective areas here tonight in Jesus

  963. name.
