  39. Brother Jim: what matters today.

  40. Brother Jim: And of course, you might say,

  41. Brother Jim: well, Jim David, that's your

  42. Brother Jim: opinion.

  43. Brother Jim: But hey, that's all right.

  44. Brother Jim: Let's make this morning count.

  45. Brother Jim: Speaking of that.

  46. Brother Jim: Hey folks, I told a joke about construction, but I'm still

  47. Brother Jim: working on it.

  48. Brother Jim: Let you and I thank God for another day.

  49. Brother Jim: We didn't have to set the alarm for.

  50. Brother Jim: Because we're ready.

  51. Brother Jim: We are awake and we are blessed.

  52. Brother Jim: My name is Brother Jim, one half of the dynamic duo here on Bible

  53. Brother Jim: bibs and prayer.

  54. Brother Jim: And I'm gonna have to change

  55. Brother Jim: that, David, because we got Ida

  56. Brother Jim: Lee and Mr. Dan the chicken man

  57. Brother Jim: here.

  58. Brother Jim: So yeah, we're a quartet.

  59. Brother Jim: Yeah, we're a quartet now, boy.

  60. Brother Jim: And we're down on the street as I was putting.

  61. Brother Jim: Hey, what else would you like?

  62. Brother Jim: So who knows what the people

  63. Brother Jim: will bring to Bible bibs and

  64. Brother Jim: prayer?

  65. Brother Jim: I did mention an alligator again.

  66. Brother Jim: I'd love to have a pet alligator.

  67. Brother Jim: Remember?

  68. Brother Jim: Uh, uh, Miami Vice Crockett had his pet crocodile.

  69. Brother Jim: Elvis.

  70. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  71. Brother Jim: If we get one, that's what we're gonna name him.

  72. Brother Jim: David.

  73. Brother Jim: Elvis.

  74. Brother Jim: There you go.

  75. Brother Jim: By day, a pastor of Rock church.

  76. Brother Jim: And by night.

  77. Brother Jim: I want to be funny guy.

  78. Brother Jim: Unfortunately, most will say

  79. Brother Jim: you're not really funny, just

  80. Brother Jim: funny looking.

  81. Brother Jim: So welcome to the show.

  82. Brother Jim: Let's turn this from a conversation into an experience.

  83. Brother Jim: And now the moment.

  84. Brother Jim: Yes, I know the moment you've all been waiting for.

  85. Brother Jim: I am joined by the only person who thinks just one more episode

  86. Brother Jim: is a personal trait.

  87. Brother Jim: The man that brings the jokes,

  88. Brother Jim: the chaos in just enough

  89. Brother Jim: questionable opinions to keep

  90. Brother Jim: things interesting.

  91. Brother Jim: And if there's a tangent to go on, he will find it.

  92. Brother Jim: If there's a snack nearby, it is already gone.

  93. Brother Jim: We're still waiting on our snacks, by the way, people.

  94. Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah, come on, come on, give it up.

  95. Brother Jim: For my partner in podcasting crime.

  96. Brother Jim: A face that only a mother could love.

  97. Brother Jim: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages.

  98. Brother Jim: The one, the only, Mr. David Keener.

  99. Brother Jim: Plus, he's one of my best friends in the whole wide world.

  100. Brother Jim: Good morning, my friend.

  101. David: Good morning.

  102. David: How are we doing today?

  103. Brother Jim: Yeah, we're doing, you know, we're doing.

  104. Brother Jim: It's a bit of a new.

  105. David: We made it through Easter.

  106. Brother Jim: Yes, Easter.

  107. Brother Jim: A little bit of a break.

  108. Brother Jim: I understand a lot of pastors take that time off afterwards.

  109. David: Unfortunately, I can understand why.

  110. Brother Jim: The train keeps rolling here.

  111. Brother Jim: So maybe one day.

  112. Brother Jim: Maybe one day.

  113. Brother Jim: Uh, but how is life in general, my friend?

  114. David: It's it's good.

  115. David: And you may not know this, but

  116. David: we've got kind of a tradition on

  117. David: this program.

  118. David: Well, at least on our previous programs, something I've done

  119. David: for probably twenty years now, the program that is for Easter

  120. David: or right after Easter, I always play the same song.

  121. David: I get a little method, if you.

  122. Brother Jim: Will. Oh, here we go, here we go.

  123. David: So this is something we've done.

  124. Brother Jim: Oh, allow me to turn the hat backwards.

  125. Brother Jim: Yeah, baby.

  126. David: I don't know if you're familiar

  127. David: or not, but this is Pastor Clint

  128. David: Brown.

  129. Speaker 4: I'm glad he got up.

  130. Speaker 4: Shout he got up.

  131. Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.

  132. Speaker 5: He's up.

  133. Speaker 5: Get a little crazy in here.

  134. Speaker 5: I said he got up close.

  135. Speaker 5: Give you a little bit of a taste there.

  136. David: It gets a it's a little it's a

  137. David: little awkward when you're, you

  138. David: know, in front of the camera and

  139. David: have to sit there for eight

  140. David: minutes.

  141. David: So we won't do that.

  142. David: But yeah, yeah, yeah.

  143. Brother Jim: Could you imagine if I did that at Rockford Church?

  144. David: Oh, I could see you up there doing a little, little.

  145. Brother Jim: Little.

  146. David: Strut.

  147. Brother Jim: Yeah. Yeah. Little strut.

  148. Brother Jim: Yeah. I was watching one the other day where the pastor was

  149. Brother Jim: walking across the pews.

  150. David: Yeah.

  151. Brother Jim: I mean, he was leaping and he hit every pew all the way down

  152. Brother Jim: and all the way back.

  153. David: Nice.

  154. Brother Jim: And then right up on the pulpit, I'm like, well, number one, I

  155. Brother Jim: don't think Brother Jim is coordinated enough now.

  156. Brother Jim: And number two, I don't think the pulpit would hold it.

  157. Brother Jim: So yeah.

  158. David: So I had to keep the streak alive there.

  159. David: Yes.

  160. Brother Jim: Well. Thank you.

  161. Brother Jim: Thank you.

  162. Brother Jim: We'll have to try that one day.

  163. Brother Jim: You know.

  164. David: Fire up some Pentecostal music and just see what happens.

  165. Brother Jim: I like the idea, I really do.

  166. Brother Jim: Yes.

  167. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  168. Brother Jim: I'm Pentecostal.

  169. Brother Jim: Got something going on.

  170. Brother Jim: I said, as long as they ain't got the snakes.

  171. David: Yeah. Yeah.

  172. Brother Jim: Or strychnine or any of that stuff.

  173. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  174. David: We'll stay away from all that stuff.

  175. Brother Jim: Yeah. Because Brother Jim and snakes do not mix.

  176. Brother Jim: I do not discriminate, David.

  177. Brother Jim: When it comes to snakes, I kill them all.

  178. Brother Jim: Kill them all.

  179. Brother Jim: So, uh, how was everything going?

  180. Brother Jim: Good Easter.

  181. David: Good Easter, good Easter.

  182. David: Yeah, good.

  183. David: Decent weather.

  184. David: We had decent weather, so that's good.

  185. David: Yeah.

  186. David: A lot of rain last week.

  187. Brother Jim: I know, I know, uh, Tuesday night, this past Tuesday night.

  188. Brother Jim: Man, it was beautiful outside.

  189. Brother Jim: I was thinking what we could have filmed.

  190. David: Oh, yeah.

  191. Brother Jim: Bonfire until about ten, oh five, ten, fifteen.

  192. Brother Jim: And then the rains came and it's

  193. Brother Jim: like, was this like the day of

  194. Brother Jim: Noah?

  195. Brother Jim: As I was watching through the security camera there and man,

  196. Brother Jim: it was coming through sideways, upside down, you name it.

  197. David: I broke out the Blackstone Tuesday night again.

  198. David: Did some smash burgers.

  199. David: Yeah, yeah, it was good.

  200. David: Good grilling.

  201. Brother Jim: Yes. Uh, I, I still got a big grease stain to clean up for my

  202. Brother Jim: attempt on the Blackstone over there at the life center.

  203. Brother Jim: So, uh, yes.

  204. Brother Jim: How about you guys?

  205. Brother Jim: How are we doing?

  206. Brother Jim: How was your Easter?

  207. Brother Jim: Let us know.

  208. Brother Jim: Hopefully.

  209. Brother Jim: Hopefully you went out to church.

  210. Brother Jim: You found a good church.

  211. Brother Jim: Hopefully you took us up on our invitation as well.

  212. Brother Jim: You know, come on out to Rockford church there.

  213. Brother Jim: But, uh, we're still busy, busy, busy.

  214. Brother Jim: Uh, it just does not slow down,

  215. Brother Jim: which is a good thing, but, uh,

  216. Brother Jim: I think we all need a little

  217. Brother Jim: break sometimes.

  218. Brother Jim: And, uh, you know, it's too bad

  219. Brother Jim: parents don't get spring break,

  220. Brother Jim: too.

  221. Brother Jim: Wouldn't that be nice?

  222. David: Yeah. Really?

  223. Brother Jim: At least for a day or two.

  224. David: I get into that.

  225. Brother Jim: Yeah, until we're driven.

  226. Brother Jim: Absolutely.

  227. David: We should get spring break the week after.

  228. David: When the kids go back, that's when we get spring break.

  229. Brother Jim: How about all you moms out there?

  230. Brother Jim: Can I get an amen on that one?

  231. Brother Jim: Yes, yes.

  232. Brother Jim: Because if momma ain't happy, nobody's happy.

  233. David: That's right.

  234. David: That's right.

  235. Brother Jim: Just kind of that ripple effect, huh?

  236. Brother Jim: So you come across any good dad jokes lately?

  237. David: I did, and I recently found out that the word icy is the easiest

  238. David: word to spell.

  239. David: I see why.

  240. Brother Jim: Did you smoking me on the dad jokes, man?

  241. Brother Jim: Smoking me?

  242. Brother Jim: Yes, yes, that was a good one there.

  243. Brother Jim: Oh, man.

  244. Brother Jim: I need to find out where your

  245. Brother Jim: source is coming from here,

  246. Brother Jim: because mine are not doing the

  247. Brother Jim: job.

  248. David: I looked it up and found it about three minutes ago, so.

  249. David: Okay.

  250. Brother Jim: All right.

  251. Brother Jim: Yeah. Uh, there's so many of them, too.

  252. Brother Jim: Trying to find the ones that are appropriate and.

  253. Brother Jim: Yeah, and I need I saved so many online there from, uh, the two

  254. Brother Jim: dudes, uh, that sit there drinking their coffee.

  255. Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah, those guys are good.

  256. David: Oh. They're great.

  257. Brother Jim: Yeah. So. And my mother just found, uh, dad jokes and she's

  258. Brother Jim: like, oh, look at these two.

  259. Brother Jim: They're so funny.

  260. Brother Jim: I'm like, yeah, mom, they're just there's aliens.

  261. Brother Jim: There's hunters, the two dudes

  262. Brother Jim: out on the you name it, AI

  263. Brother Jim: creates it.

  264. Brother Jim: So. All right, let us remember.

  265. Brother Jim: Another sunrise.

  266. Brother Jim: Another chance to shine.

  267. Brother Jim: A chance to show the whole world and everyone around you that you

  268. Brother Jim: are one special person.

  269. Brother Jim: Yes you are.

  270. Brother Jim: We have been blessed.

  271. Brother Jim: You.

  272. Brother Jim: David, myself and these two beautiful animals here, even

  273. Brother Jim: though they're not really alive.

  274. Brother Jim: Hey, we're going to pretend they are.

  275. Brother Jim: So let you and I thank God for another blessed day.

  276. Brother Jim: Whether you're driving, working,

  277. Brother Jim: or just starting your morning

  278. Brother Jim: coffee, we are glad you are here

  279. Brother Jim: with us.

  280. Brother Jim: And you know what?

  281. Brother Jim: We're alive.

  282. Brother Jim: And even with the aches and pains, we're still blessed.

  283. Brother Jim: Yes.

  284. Brother Jim: Now I know right now, springtime, everybody's getting

  285. Brother Jim: into that, uh, mowing, weeding, getting gardens and flowers.

  286. Brother Jim: But, uh, remember, uh, and of

  287. Brother Jim: course, I don't take my own

  288. Brother Jim: advice.

  289. Brother Jim: Make sure you stretch a little bit.

  290. Brother Jim: If you're getting up there in age, you know, and make sure

  291. Brother Jim: you've got plenty of Bengay, icy hot heating pad, ibuprofen, uh,

  292. Brother Jim: anything else I'm forgetting?

  293. Brother Jim: David.

  294. David: No, I think that's pretty much

  295. David: it until you have to get the

  296. David: prescription stuff.

  297. David: Yeah.

  298. Brother Jim: Prescription stuff.

  299. Brother Jim: Yeah. We'll leave that one up to you.

  300. Brother Jim: But yes, we are still blessed.

  301. Brother Jim: I was out mowing the other day.

  302. Brother Jim: They're checking it all out and it's like the list keeps growing

  303. Brother Jim: and growing, you know?

  304. Brother Jim: And, uh, it's like, where do I even start at?

  305. Brother Jim: So I think I'm gonna start with the mailbox first because the

  306. Brother Jim: mailbox is about ready to fall off the pole.

  307. Brother Jim: So yeah, it did not, it wasn't

  308. Brother Jim: healthy going into winter, but

  309. Brother Jim: it's really looking unhealthy

  310. Brother Jim: now.

  311. Brother Jim: Remember as a kid when you had that tooth that was so loose,

  312. Brother Jim: just barely hanging on.

  313. Brother Jim: That's what my mailbox looks like right now.

  314. Brother Jim: So come on and join Mr. David

  315. Brother Jim: and I as we say, thank you,

  316. Brother Jim: Lord, for another day of

  317. Brother Jim: opportunity.

  318. Brother Jim: Just waiting for you now to make our mark.

  319. Brother Jim: Find that good in life and forget the bad.

  320. Brother Jim: Yes, forget the bad.

  321. Brother Jim: And you know what?

  322. Brother Jim: Because all of this really

  323. Brother Jim: doesn't matter at the end of the

  324. Brother Jim: day.

  325. Brother Jim: Because you are not alone.

  326. Brother Jim: Why?

  327. Brother Jim: Well, again, I am so glad you asked.

  328. Brother Jim: Jesus and Jesus alone rejoice that you are alive.

  329. Brother Jim: And when you're looking at me, oh yes, even though it might not

  330. Brother Jim: be the best looking thing looking back at you, at least

  331. Brother Jim: for my in my experience, Remember, you are beautiful.

  332. Brother Jim: You matter in this world.

  333. Brother Jim: And most of all, oh my goodness.

  334. Brother Jim: Goodness, goodness, you are loved.

  335. Brother Jim: Now the teacher noticed that al

  336. Brother Jim: had been daydreaming for a long

  337. Brother Jim: time.

  338. Brother Jim: She decided to get his attention.

  339. Brother Jim: Excuse me.

  340. Brother Jim: David.

  341. Brother Jim: My bad.

  342. Brother Jim: David had been daydreaming.

  343. Brother Jim: David, she said, if the world is twenty five thousand miles

  344. Brother Jim: around and eggs are sixty cents a dozen, how old am I?

  345. Brother Jim: Thirty four, David answered, and didn't hesitate one bit.

  346. Brother Jim: The teacher replied, well,

  347. Brother Jim: that's not far from my actual

  348. Brother Jim: age.

  349. Brother Jim: Tell me, David, how did you guess?

  350. Brother Jim: Oh, there's nothing to it, David said.

  351. Brother Jim: My big sister is seventeen and she's only half crazy.

  352. Brother Jim: Boom boom bam.

  353. Brother Jim: Yes.

  354. Brother Jim: All right.

  355. Brother Jim: Our thought of the day.

  356. Brother Jim: No man knows how bad he is till

  357. Brother Jim: he has tried very hard to be

  358. Brother Jim: good.

  359. Brother Jim: Only those who try to resist

  360. Brother Jim: temptation know how strong it

  361. Brother Jim: is.

  362. Brother Jim: C.S.

  363. Brother Jim: Lewis Now we've been talking about Satan and the devil these

  364. Brother Jim: last few, uh, well, about a week and a half here and how he works

  365. Brother Jim: on us, who he is, how where did he come from?

  366. Brother Jim: And we just scratched the very

  367. Brother Jim: tip the surface of it, if you

  368. Brother Jim: will.

  369. Brother Jim: But one of the biggest things and we talked about last

  370. Brother Jim: Thursday was temptation.

  371. Brother Jim: Now, temptation is not a sin until we act on it.

  372. Brother Jim: I believe David pointed that out very clearly.

  373. Brother Jim: Why we are led into temptation.

  374. Brother Jim: You ever think about that?

  375. Brother Jim: Why are we led into temptation now?

  376. Brother Jim: We all have our temptations.

  377. Brother Jim: If I was to put a big old bowl

  378. Brother Jim: of broccoli in front of David or

  379. Brother Jim: a Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia,

  380. Brother Jim: for example, which would be more

  381. Brother Jim: tempting.

  382. David: Depends.

  383. David: Does broccoli have cheese on it?

  384. Brother Jim: Nope. Just a nice thing of bowl of steamed broccoli.

  385. David: Nope. We're going for the Ben and Jerry's.

  386. Brother Jim: Going for the Ben and Jerry's.

  387. Brother Jim: All right.

  388. Brother Jim: If we would put a tofu burger in front of Brother Jim, or.

  389. Brother Jim: I just had the other night, a sixteen ounce rib eye.

  390. David: Oh, yeah.

  391. Brother Jim: Yeah. I think we all know what Jim's going for.

  392. Brother Jim: Yes.

  393. Brother Jim: Now we're just joking around.

  394. Brother Jim: Temptation.

  395. Brother Jim: But food is a temptation we all have that.

  396. Brother Jim: We all have our desires, our wants, our temptations.

  397. Brother Jim: But here's a clear, honest list of common temptations people

  398. Brother Jim: face today relevant, practical, and grounded in real life.

  399. Brother Jim: And that's what we try to do here.

  400. Brother Jim: We try to keep it real, you know, for our listeners.

  401. Brother Jim: And we got nothing to, uh,

  402. Brother Jim: what's the word I want here,

  403. Brother Jim: David?

  404. Brother Jim: It ain't like we're like this

  405. Brother Jim: big old rooster here strutting

  406. Brother Jim: around.

  407. Brother Jim: You know, what you see is what you get.

  408. David: There's no errors here.

  409. Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.

  410. Brother Jim: Faulty.

  411. Brother Jim: Guilty, guilty, faulty right here.

  412. Brother Jim: You're looking at it, number one.

  413. Brother Jim: Ooh.

  414. Brother Jim: Materialism and greed.

  415. Brother Jim: The constant desire for more

  416. Brother Jim: money, money, money, possessions

  417. Brother Jim: and status.

  418. Brother Jim: How true it is, David.

  419. Brother Jim: Yes.

  420. Brother Jim: feeling like your worth is measured by what you own.

  421. Brother Jim: And does our society promote that today?

  422. David: No. Absolutely.

  423. Brother Jim: Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh my.

  424. Brother Jim: A lot of times when I'm doing a funeral service, I talk about an

  425. Brother Jim: individual's obituary and how easy it is for society to judge

  426. Brother Jim: us by what is said in obituary.

  427. Brother Jim: True.

  428. Brother Jim: And, you know, and especially when it comes time for the

  429. Brother Jim: reading of the will.

  430. Brother Jim: Oh, what's in the four hundred and one K?

  431. Brother Jim: What's in retirement?

  432. Brother Jim: What are his investments?

  433. Brother Jim: The list goes on and on.

  434. Brother Jim: Because at the end of the day, we want to know what do we get?

  435. Brother Jim: What do we get?

  436. Brother Jim: And a man or woman can work all

  437. Brother Jim: their life, try to raise their

  438. Brother Jim: children right, do the right

  439. Brother Jim: thing.

  440. Brother Jim: And how many times does it come down to that, David?

  441. Brother Jim: What am I getting?

  442. Brother Jim: Forget about all the the learning experiences.

  443. Brother Jim: Dad or mom or grandpa.

  444. Brother Jim: Grandma showed us the love, the warmth, the acceptance.

  445. Brother Jim: What do I get?

  446. Brother Jim: And, you know, I mean, good

  447. Brother Jim: golly, David, you look at the

  448. Brother Jim: contracts for professional

  449. Brother Jim: sports.

  450. Brother Jim: I mean, it just keeps getting more and more obscene.

  451. Brother Jim: Now you say, well, Jim, you know, if you break it down and

  452. Brother Jim: I've heard a couple of them break it down, you know?

  453. Brother Jim: Okay.

  454. Brother Jim: But still, you're playing a ball game at the end of the day.

  455. Brother Jim: Now again, I'm no pro player, so I don't know what it's like.

  456. Brother Jim: But what do you say?

  457. Brother Jim: Enough's enough.

  458. Brother Jim: When is enough enough?

  459. Brother Jim: America.

  460. Brother Jim: World.

  461. Brother Jim: Uh, you know, uh, who did you

  462. Brother Jim: say our number two country was

  463. Brother Jim: right now?

  464. David: Uh, Singapore. Singapore, I think.

  465. Brother Jim: Okay. Singapore. How you doing?

  466. Brother Jim: Good morning to you, our

  467. Brother Jim: brothers and sisters in

  468. Brother Jim: Singapore.

  469. Brother Jim: How about over there is wealth, greed, materialistic items.

  470. Brother Jim: Is it that high up on your list?

  471. Brother Jim: Because I know in the I don't want to get in trouble here, but

  472. Brother Jim: like the Asian culture.

  473. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  474. Brother Jim: You know there's still I know

  475. Brother Jim: they're they're starting to lose

  476. Brother Jim: that.

  477. Brother Jim: But respect.

  478. David: Respect.

  479. Brother Jim: To.

  480. David: Elders, right?

  481. Brother Jim: You know, but again, Singapore,

  482. Brother Jim: some of our other countries

  483. Brother Jim: listening in.

  484. Brother Jim: What about your country?

  485. Brother Jim: What about your world that you

  486. Brother Jim: live in is money, possessions,

  487. Brother Jim: status, titles?

  488. Brother Jim: Oh, gotta love the titles.

  489. Brother Jim: David.

  490. Brother Jim: How many of us and you see that go to people's head?

  491. Brother Jim: Title.

  492. Brother Jim: Title.

  493. Brother Jim: Title.

  494. Brother Jim: Well, this is who I am.

  495. Brother Jim: Really?

  496. Brother Jim: Who cares?

  497. David: I don't even know what my official title is at work.

  498. David: I have no idea.

  499. David: That's how much I care.

  500. David: Yeah.

  501. Brother Jim: I'm more worried about the paycheck.

  502. Brother Jim: Okay, well, if I was in the secular world working, that's

  503. Brother Jim: what I would worry about.

  504. Brother Jim: Is the paycheck okay?

  505. Brother Jim: I got to clear that up before we get hate mail.

  506. Brother Jim: All right.

  507. Brother Jim: Uh, anything that on that one, David?

  508. David: No, I don't think so.

  509. David: I mean.

  510. Brother Jim: We.

  511. David: Got a list.

  512. David: Yeah.

  513. Brother Jim: So I want to set the list up first.

  514. Brother Jim: Ah, here's a big one, a big one.

  515. Brother Jim: Lust and sexual temptation.

  516. Brother Jim: And I'm not talking about the group.

  517. Brother Jim: Oh, I should have gave you a forewarning.

  518. Brother Jim: You could hit a little temptation.

  519. David: Yeah, I will throw it in a post.

  520. Brother Jim: All right, but sexual immorality, pornography and

  521. Brother Jim: unhealthy relationships distorting love into something

  522. Brother Jim: selfish rather than meaningful.

  523. Brother Jim: What do you mean, Jim?

  524. Brother Jim: All right, let's just throw the dagger right at the throat.

  525. Brother Jim: Today or tonight?

  526. Brother Jim: Tomorrow, whenever you're

  527. Brother Jim: listening to this, how about

  528. Brother Jim: living together?

  529. Brother Jim: What does that do?

  530. Brother Jim: Oh, I might step on some toes here, but what does that do to a

  531. Brother Jim: man and a woman?

  532. Brother Jim: Are you saying to the woman

  533. Brother Jim: she's not good enough to make

  534. Brother Jim: her your wife or vice versa, you

  535. Brother Jim: know, want to keep it equal

  536. Brother Jim: here?

  537. Brother Jim: Uh, do you ever think about the

  538. Brother Jim: what it does to the people,

  539. Brother Jim: though?

  540. Brother Jim: I mean, hey, David, you know, I went and shacked up with, uh,

  541. Brother Jim: uh, what's a generic name here?

  542. Brother Jim: Uh, Jane.

  543. David: Yeah. Jane Doe.

  544. Brother Jim: Wayne went and shacked up with Jane Doe.

  545. Brother Jim: Lived with her for about three years.

  546. Brother Jim: That didn't work out.

  547. Brother Jim: And then I found, oh, Jane Doe's sister, Penny, A little better

  548. Brother Jim: looking and a little nicer.

  549. Brother Jim: So I shacked up with her for four years.

  550. Brother Jim: What am I doing to myself?

  551. Brother Jim: Because if I if I ever find that right person, look at the

  552. Brother Jim: baggage you're bringing with.

  553. David: Yeah.

  554. Brother Jim: You can't get away from that when you sleep around.

  555. Brother Jim: And I'm just being honest.

  556. Brother Jim: But you're also stealing that experience.

  557. Brother Jim: Isn't that the great thing about marriage?

  558. Brother Jim: You know, all the new stuff?

  559. David: Yeah.

  560. Brother Jim: You know, and you're going to find out stuff.

  561. Brother Jim: Wait a minute.

  562. Brother Jim: This is what he looks like in the morning.

  563. Brother Jim: She snores.

  564. Brother Jim: You see what I'm saying?

  565. Brother Jim: You take that away.

  566. Brother Jim: You're stealing it from the person you love.

  567. Brother Jim: And especially if that's the one you are meant to be with that

  568. Brother Jim: God wants you to be with.

  569. Brother Jim: You're bringing in all this prior experience.

  570. Brother Jim: It's a tough one, is it not?

  571. Brother Jim: And I mean, as we've talked before, I mean, sex sells.

  572. Brother Jim: Look around.

  573. Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.

  574. Brother Jim: It just keeps getting skimpier and skimpier and tighter and

  575. Brother Jim: tighter as I call them, Satan pants and yoga pants.

  576. Brother Jim: Why in God's green earth do women.

  577. Brother Jim: And I'm picking on women wear yoga pants to to the Walmart.

  578. Brother Jim: Bad enough having to see people in PJs.

  579. Brother Jim: I'm just being honest.

  580. Brother Jim: I'm a dude.

  581. Brother Jim: I'm a red blooded American male.

  582. Brother Jim: I like meat, I like guns and women.

  583. Brother Jim: Let's be honest.

  584. Brother Jim: And it's tough when you've got these.

  585. Brother Jim: Prove me wrong.

  586. Brother Jim: Okay, now I know most men will lie.

  587. Brother Jim: Especially married men will lie about this.

  588. Brother Jim: Or you go to the beach.

  589. Brother Jim: David, you're setting yourself up to to battle.

  590. David: Yeah.

  591. Brother Jim: The temptation of.

  592. David: Lust, whether you want to or not.

  593. Brother Jim: Exactly. And I've said before, I try to prepare.

  594. Brother Jim: When we went to the beach last

  595. Brother Jim: October, I prayed to God saying,

  596. Brother Jim: give me eyes of discernment so I

  597. Brother Jim: don't look.

  598. Brother Jim: But when you got this, you know, very nice looking lady wearing a

  599. Brother Jim: thong bikini right next to you.

  600. David: Which is supposed to be illegal in Myrtle Beach, by the way.

  601. Brother Jim: Yeah, well, she didn't get the memo on.

  602. David: That one, buddy.

  603. Brother Jim: You know what I'm saying?

  604. Brother Jim: How are our kids?

  605. Brother Jim: We don't even.

  606. Brother Jim: Do we even sit down and explain that to people, to our children?

  607. Brother Jim: Let me say that to our children.

  608. Brother Jim: You know, you got you got twelve year olds looking like they're

  609. Brother Jim: twenty one, twenty two.

  610. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  611. Brother Jim: Doing things.

  612. Brother Jim: Talking the way they talk, the way they think.

  613. Brother Jim: Come on, be a kid, be a kid.

  614. Brother Jim: Enjoy life.

  615. Brother Jim: Moms, dads.

  616. Brother Jim: Why are you pushing your kids?

  617. Brother Jim: And I'm.

  618. Brother Jim: Oh, I'm fired up now.

  619. Brother Jim: I'm going off on another one on moms.

  620. Brother Jim: And I've seen it.

  621. Brother Jim: I've experienced it.

  622. Brother Jim: You go to example, a cheer competition.

  623. Brother Jim: You got thirty, forty year old

  624. Brother Jim: moms dressed up like they're

  625. Brother Jim: going out clubbing and they got

  626. Brother Jim: their kids.

  627. Brother Jim: So peaked out, you know, dressed up.

  628. Brother Jim: It's one thing to look nice, but a cheer competition.

  629. Brother Jim: You're looking like you're going clubbing.

  630. David: Yeah. Come on.

  631. Brother Jim: Well, you could say to you, well, Jim, you're fat and kind

  632. Brother Jim: of ugly and you don't know how to look good.

  633. Brother Jim: True, but come on, I got enough common sense.

  634. Brother Jim: And, David, what would you do if I showed up on a Sunday morning

  635. Brother Jim: in skinny jeans?

  636. David: Probably turn right around and walk out the door.

  637. David: What is the word?

  638. Brother Jim: Yeah. So we could go on and on

  639. Brother Jim: about that one, but it's

  640. Brother Jim: everywhere.

  641. Brother Jim: But it's our job as Christians to fight it, to stand up for

  642. Brother Jim: what is right.

  643. Brother Jim: Doing it in a loving way.

  644. Brother Jim: And, you know, maybe a lot of

  645. Brother Jim: times, David, kids probably just

  646. Brother Jim: want direction on that because

  647. Brother Jim: they imitate.

  648. Brother Jim: Yeah, they imitate.

  649. David: And maybe they weren't even told any better.

  650. David: Maybe they don't know any better.

  651. Brother Jim: Exactly, exactly.

  652. Brother Jim: So we can do better on that one, my friends.

  653. Brother Jim: All right.

  654. Brother Jim: Number three, pride and ego.

  655. Brother Jim: Oh, another big one.

  656. Brother Jim: Wanting to be seen as better than others.

  657. Brother Jim: Struggling with arrogance,

  658. Brother Jim: self-centeredness, or needing

  659. Brother Jim: constant validation.

  660. Brother Jim: Ooh.

  661. Brother Jim: I gotta hold the bat on this one.

  662. David: Brother Jim, can I just tell you

  663. David: how blessed I was to be able to

  664. David: go?

  665. David: I went and spent all day with sister Sally all day, and I was

  666. David: such a blessing that I was able to do that for her.

  667. David: And yeah.

  668. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  669. David: Who who are you honoring here, yourself or God?

  670. David: Right?

  671. Brother Jim: You know, it's one thing to speak up.

  672. Brother Jim: Hey, has anybody heard about sister Sally?

  673. Brother Jim: Hey, I was there the other day.

  674. Brother Jim: She's doing okay.

  675. Brother Jim: Or she had this.

  676. Brother Jim: But to, you know, to inform

  677. Brother Jim: somebody of the situation,

  678. Brother Jim: right?

  679. Brother Jim: But.

  680. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  681. Brother Jim: Or, boy, I gotta watch how I say everything here.

  682. Brother Jim: Whatever happened?

  683. Brother Jim: Just doing it without the approval.

  684. Brother Jim: Without the nod.

  685. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  686. Brother Jim: You know.

  687. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  688. Brother Jim: Knowing.

  689. Brother Jim: Hey, God's watching.

  690. Brother Jim: Chalking it up to a personal

  691. Brother Jim: quiet victory that hopefully I'm

  692. Brother Jim: making a difference in

  693. Brother Jim: somebody's life and leave it at

  694. Brother Jim: that.

  695. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  696. Brother Jim: Uh, self centeredness, which

  697. Brother Jim: again, this is what our society

  698. Brother Jim: produces.

  699. Brother Jim: I mean, going back to and I sound like a broken record, but

  700. Brother Jim: I mean, you see it on social media all the time.

  701. Brother Jim: I mean, when we first started

  702. Brother Jim: out with selfies, oh my

  703. Brother Jim: goodness, everybody and their

  704. Brother Jim: brother.

  705. Brother Jim: selfie sticks.

  706. Brother Jim: Whew.

  707. Brother Jim: I don't even know if there's still a thing.

  708. Brother Jim: Now.

  709. Brother Jim: Selfie sticks.

  710. David: I think they are not very

  711. David: popular, but I think they're

  712. David: still good.

  713. Brother Jim: Just. Well, Jim, what are you doing right now?

  714. Brother Jim: David and I have a purpose here.

  715. Brother Jim: We're not out here trying to, uh.

  716. Brother Jim: What's the word?

  717. Brother Jim: What's the word?

  718. David: We're not promoting ourselves.

  719. Brother Jim: Yeah, we're not promoting.

  720. Brother Jim: Oh, we're we're having a good time.

  721. David: There's nothing here to promote.

  722. David: But Jesus, let me tell you.

  723. Brother Jim: Yeah. I mean, look at it.

  724. Brother Jim: You got a fifty three year old guy with a wristband on holding

  725. Brother Jim: a baseball bat.

  726. David: Next to a chicken and a pig.

  727. Brother Jim: Talking to a chicken and a pig.

  728. Brother Jim: What's there to promote other than maybe a a one way trip to

  729. Brother Jim: the the special place?

  730. Brother Jim: But yeah, and again, that's why

  731. Brother Jim: I said, that's why I go by

  732. Brother Jim: Brother Jim because oh, in a

  733. Brother Jim: joking way, I got called

  734. Brother Jim: Reverend Jim the other night and

  735. Brother Jim: I'm like, oh, who's Reverend Jim

  736. Brother Jim: again?

  737. Brother Jim: Not disrespecting that.

  738. Brother Jim: But and that's the one thing I

  739. Brother Jim: never want to be put up on a

  740. Brother Jim: pedestal.

  741. Brother Jim: I pray you know.

  742. Brother Jim: No, it's.

  743. Brother Jim: And should we all be like that, David, in our Christian walk.

  744. Brother Jim: Humble with humility.

  745. Brother Jim: You know.

  746. Brother Jim: And it works for me.

  747. Brother Jim: Uh, and again, we could go on and on with this one.

  748. Brother Jim: Uh, how about number four?

  749. Brother Jim: Anger and bitterness.

  750. Brother Jim: Holding grudges, seeking revenge or reacting harshly, letting

  751. Brother Jim: hurt turn into hatred.

  752. Brother Jim: Uh, nothing like a good baseball bat to the kneecaps.

  753. Brother Jim: Let's add a little frustration.

  754. Brother Jim: Uh, have you ever been to one of those?

  755. Brother Jim: Uh. Oh, you go in and you just bust stuff up their rooms.

  756. David: No, I want to go.

  757. David: But I've never.

  758. David: I've never been to one.

  759. Brother Jim: Well, it's kind of funny.

  760. Brother Jim: We got an old TV.

  761. Brother Jim: Well, you know the TV over there at the life center?

  762. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  763. Brother Jim: Uh, brother of ours, Caleb.

  764. Brother Jim: He called to see if we could

  765. Brother Jim: take it over, and I said, no, we

  766. Brother Jim: don't want it because it might

  767. Brother Jim: have mercury.

  768. Brother Jim: And I'm like, what do they call those, uh.

  769. David: Rear projection TVs?

  770. Brother Jim: Oh, no, I mean the rooms.

  771. David: Oh, rage room.

  772. Brother Jim: Rage rooms.

  773. Brother Jim: Yeah. Which, you know,

  774. Brother Jim: Sometimes, whether I'm right or

  775. Brother Jim: wrong, you got to let it out

  776. Brother Jim: sometimes.

  777. David: Yeah.

  778. Brother Jim: And to me, if you're letting it out in a healthy way.

  779. David: Yeah.

  780. Brother Jim: You know, um.

  781. David: As long as you're not Michael

  782. David: Douglas in Falling Down, you're

  783. David: alright.

  784. Brother Jim: Ah, yes.

  785. Brother Jim: We've talked about great movie, great movie.

  786. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  787. Brother Jim: If you're walking around with a

  788. Brother Jim: rocket launcher, an RPG, we, we

  789. Brother Jim: need to talk here, but please

  790. Brother Jim: put it down before you come talk

  791. Brother Jim: to us.

  792. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  793. Brother Jim: Yes.

  794. Brother Jim: Holding grudges.

  795. Brother Jim: That's a big one.

  796. Brother Jim: Oh, and I see it in the church.

  797. Brother Jim: I know it's in the church.

  798. Brother Jim: Well, aunt Sally did this back

  799. Brother Jim: to my brother back in nineteen

  800. Brother Jim: forty two.

  801. Brother Jim: And for the love of let it Go.

  802. Brother Jim: They're both dead, you know?

  803. Brother Jim: Yep.

  804. Brother Jim: Gang bangers, the gangs of LA, the Red, the blood, the blue, or

  805. Brother Jim: the Crips and the Bloods.

  806. Brother Jim: Yeah, you took out my homie.

  807. Brother Jim: So I'm going to take out your homie.

  808. Brother Jim: When does it ever end?

  809. Brother Jim: When does it ever end?

  810. Brother Jim: And you know, you can say, well, Jim, that's out there.

  811. Brother Jim: No, that's in our own lives.

  812. Brother Jim: Let's be honest.

  813. Brother Jim: Look in the mirror.

  814. Brother Jim: How many of us?

  815. Brother Jim: Quietly.

  816. Brother Jim: Oh, there's a country song.

  817. Brother Jim: Came out quite a few years ago,

  818. Brother Jim: and it was a funny one about I

  819. Brother Jim: wish you.

  820. Brother Jim: I pray for you.

  821. Brother Jim: I pray your motor in the

  822. Brother Jim: airplane stalls and stuff like

  823. Brother Jim: that.

  824. Brother Jim: And it's like, we'll have to see

  825. Brother Jim: if we can find that one because

  826. Brother Jim: it's a, it's a funny one, but

  827. Brother Jim: there's a lot of truth in that

  828. Brother Jim: too.

  829. Brother Jim: Oh, I'm praying for you, honey.

  830. Brother Jim: Yeah, that the brakes go out on your car.

  831. Brother Jim: Uh, but yeah.

  832. Brother Jim: And reacting harshly, uh, how we react, we're so quick to judge.

  833. Brother Jim: We're so quick to react.

  834. Brother Jim: And usually nice words do not come out of our mouths.

  835. Brother Jim: Think of your customer service rep on the other end.

  836. Brother Jim: They're just trying to make a living, man.

  837. Brother Jim: You know, uh, I'd say, what, ninety nine point nine nine nine

  838. Brother Jim: percent of the time?

  839. Brother Jim: They're not the ones who write the policy.

  840. Brother Jim: Correct?

  841. David: Right?

  842. Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.

  843. Brother Jim: Yes. Uh, like me getting I'd get mad at David because the

  844. Brother Jim: internet's not working.

  845. Brother Jim: David's got no control over the internet or the power goes out.

  846. Brother Jim: We got no control over that.

  847. Brother Jim: Why get mad at.

  848. Brother Jim: Hey, I'm rooting for AEP.

  849. Brother Jim: Yes.

  850. Brother Jim: You're the man.

  851. Brother Jim: That's right.

  852. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  853. Brother Jim: Alrighty.

  854. Brother Jim: But don't let it turn into hatred.

  855. Brother Jim: Number five.

  856. Brother Jim: Dishonesty.

  857. Brother Jim: Lying.

  858. Brother Jim: Cheating.

  859. Brother Jim: Exaggerating.

  860. Brother Jim: Ooh, I once caught a fish.

  861. Brother Jim: Ooh.

  862. Brother Jim: This big.

  863. Brother Jim: Or cutting corners for personal gain.

  864. Brother Jim: Ah!

  865. Brother Jim: Lying.

  866. Brother Jim: Cheating.

  867. Brother Jim: Exaggerating.

  868. Brother Jim: That comes down to.

  869. Brother Jim: I think a lot of it comes down to how you was raised.

  870. Brother Jim: In your environment.

  871. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  872. Brother Jim: The environment you.

  873. Brother Jim: Because I've seen it, dude.

  874. Brother Jim: It gets passed down from generation to generation.

  875. Brother Jim: You ever encounter somebody that

  876. Brother Jim: you can't believe a word they

  877. Brother Jim: say?

  878. Brother Jim: And the sad thing is they believe it themselves.

  879. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  880. Brother Jim: You know, it just a lie turns into another lot where the whole

  881. Brother Jim: life that they're living at that moment is just a big old lie.

  882. Brother Jim: It's fantasy.

  883. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  884. Brother Jim: You know, now, I used to have days and nights of dreaming of

  885. Brother Jim: playing in the NFL or pro ball, that kind of stuff, or being a

  886. Brother Jim: big time pro wrestler, you know?

  887. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  888. Brother Jim: You know, now maybe I'm exaggerating a little now with

  889. Brother Jim: the Nacho man.

  890. Brother Jim: More living out a fantasy, which, hey, the nacho man's

  891. Brother Jim: coming back next week actually at his ability.

  892. Brother Jim: So, uh, but yeah.

  893. Brother Jim: Um, so again, where do you fall into that category?

  894. Brother Jim: Here's a big one and it's

  895. Brother Jim: hitting home so hard, it's hit

  896. Brother Jim: home forever.

  897. Brother Jim: Addiction substances, alcohol, drugs or behaviors, gaming,

  898. Brother Jim: gambling, social media.

  899. Brother Jim: Yes.

  900. Brother Jim: Social media.

  901. Brother Jim: Can you put the phone down for more than an hour?

  902. Brother Jim: And it's funny, I it's not funny, but I've watched my mom,

  903. Brother Jim: she's become addicted.

  904. Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah, she and she loves

  905. Brother Jim: her dancing cats and singing

  906. Brother Jim: cats.

  907. Brother Jim: Anything.

  908. Brother Jim: Here we go.

  909. Brother Jim: Anything that begins to control

  910. Brother Jim: you instead of you controlling

  911. Brother Jim: it.

  912. Brother Jim: Now, that list could go on and

  913. Brother Jim: on, but I mean, you look around,

  914. Brother Jim: man, just.

  915. Brother Jim: From over the counter stuff to, you know, prescriptions.

  916. Brother Jim: Uh, what did I hear the other day?

  917. Brother Jim: Someone.

  918. Brother Jim: I mean, they were, they were so, so hard up.

  919. Brother Jim: I mean, it was coughing or cough syrup, you know?

  920. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  921. Brother Jim: Just anything.

  922. Brother Jim: The great late Keith Whitley,

  923. Brother Jim: who was just an icon in country

  924. Brother Jim: music.

  925. Brother Jim: I mean, he was a severe alcoholic and he was actually

  926. Brother Jim: drinking, rubbing alcohol.

  927. Brother Jim: Oh yeah.

  928. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  929. Brother Jim: And it cost him his life.

  930. Brother Jim: Eventually.

  931. Brother Jim: I think of how many greats this world has lost.

  932. Brother Jim: Entertainers.

  933. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  934. Brother Jim: Professional sports.

  935. Brother Jim: Remember Len Bias?

  936. David: Yeah.

  937. Brother Jim: He hadn't even made it.

  938. Brother Jim: Oh, this was back, I think in the eighties.

  939. Brother Jim: He was the number one draft

  940. Brother Jim: pick, I believe for the Boston

  941. Brother Jim: Celtics.

  942. David: Mhm.

  943. Brother Jim: OD'd on Coke. never even got to

  944. Brother Jim: set a foot on the floor to play

  945. Brother Jim: for Boston.

  946. Brother Jim: You know.

  947. David: So, Tiger Woods, let's be real.

  948. David: Tiger woods I mean, Tiger Woods clearly has a problem.

  949. David: I mean, come on.

  950. David: The guy just with women.

  951. David: No, no. I mean he's had so many surgeries.

  952. David: He's clearly addicted to painkillers.

  953. David: Oh, okay.

  954. David: He's clearly addicted to painkillers.

  955. David: The guy needs help.

  956. Brother Jim: Then you got a guy like John Daly.

  957. Brother Jim: He don't care.

  958. David: I saw I saw a meme the other day that was hilarious.

  959. David: It had a picture of both of them, and it said DUIs, and it

  960. David: had a two over top, a tiger and a zero over John Deere.

  961. David: Who would have thought John Daly never had a DUI?

  962. David: Right?

  963. Brother Jim: And if you don't know who John Daly is, he's a big old Haas

  964. Brother Jim: golfer that just.

  965. Brother Jim: He don't care.

  966. David: No, I forget how many.

  967. David: I don't know if you drink alcohol anymore, but he used to

  968. David: just pound the beers and smoke cigarettes all around, and.

  969. Brother Jim: Then he could go play like a great game of golf.

  970. Brother Jim: So anyway, we're not endorsing that.

  971. Brother Jim: No, no, not by any means.

  972. Brother Jim: But, uh, again, anything that begins to control you instead of

  973. Brother Jim: you controlling it?

  974. Brother Jim: And that, my friends, is

  975. Brother Jim: something we need to look on the

  976. Brother Jim: inside because we each have that

  977. Brother Jim: inside us.

  978. Brother Jim: Number seven peer pressure.

  979. Brother Jim: Compromising your values to fit in or be accepted especially

  980. Brother Jim: strong amongst youth.

  981. Brother Jim: Amen to that.

  982. Brother Jim: Uh, my daughter, our daughter Ellie.

  983. Brother Jim: I mean, dude, David.

  984. Brother Jim: Girls.

  985. Brother Jim: And I'm not picking on girls, but the drama, thirteen years

  986. Brother Jim: old, what she goes through and it affects her and me as a dad.

  987. Brother Jim: I'm like, who cares?

  988. Brother Jim: Yeah, but I'm not living in her world.

  989. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  990. Brother Jim: And I don't remember it being like that.

  991. David: Oh, that's because when you went

  992. David: home, I mean, there was no

  993. David: internet.

  994. David: You go home at the end of the day and you're you're you're

  995. David: done at three o'clock.

  996. David: You don't deal with the next day.

  997. Brother Jim: The worst thing you might got a note saying at the end of the

  998. Brother Jim: day, end of the school day.

  999. Brother Jim: Hey, I want to break up with you.

1000. Brother Jim: I don't like you anymore.

  1001. Brother Jim: Yeah.

1002. Brother Jim: Can't we be friends?

1003. Brother Jim: I just want to be friends.

  1004. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  1005. Brother Jim: Yes.

1006. Brother Jim: I mean, yeah, that was the biggest worry there is.

1007. Brother Jim: Getting a note at the end of the day, you know?

1008. Brother Jim: Uh, but peer pressure, not that anywhere from the job site to

1009. Brother Jim: school at home.

1010. Brother Jim: Uh, that's a tough one.

1011. Brother Jim: That can be a tough one, too, but temptations of.

1012. Brother Jim: Okay, peer pressure.

1013. Brother Jim: What am I going to do?

1014. Brother Jim: Ooh, man, I'm just calling the kettle black here.

1015. Brother Jim: What we put in our body to keep us moving and grooving.

  1016. Brother Jim: Oh, David.

1017. Brother Jim: I just kind of just to keep us moving through.

  1018. Brother Jim: Yep.

1019. Brother Jim: How much caffeine do we consume a day?

1020. Brother Jim: How much nicotine?

  1021. Brother Jim: How much?

1022. Brother Jim: Uh, energy drinks?

1023. Brother Jim: Yeah, I just bought two, uh, big old packs of V8 energy.

  1024. David: Mhm.

1025. Brother Jim: Not the regular V8, but the energy I test.

  1026. Brother Jim: Yeah, man.

1027. Brother Jim: Why did I bring that one up?

1028. Brother Jim: I'm feeling very guilty right now.

1029. Brother Jim: Uh, but you know what we do because it's peer pressure.

1030. Brother Jim: It's pressure to perform.

1031. Brother Jim: Uh, you know, and that's everywhere.

1032. Brother Jim: Look what we put on our kids.

1033. Brother Jim: You know, to be the next Tiger Woods or the next Babe Ruth or.

  1034. Brother Jim: Yep.

  1035. Brother Jim: Yeah.

1036. Brother Jim: So. All right.

1037. Brother Jim: Number eight, envy in comparison, constantly comparing

1038. Brother Jim: your life to others, especially through social media, feeling

1039. Brother Jim: jealous instead of grateful.

1040. Brother Jim: That happens all the time, you know.

1041. Brother Jim: And I just love how David, look

1042. Brother Jim: at this beautiful can of

  1043. Brother Jim: lasagna.

1044. Brother Jim: I opened up and put on my paper plate, put a little parsley

1045. Brother Jim: around it, you know?

  1046. Brother Jim: Yeah.

  1047. Brother Jim: Really?

  1048. Brother Jim: Who cares?

  1049. Brother Jim: I'm sorry.

1050. Brother Jim: Now, if David made this amazing ten layered chocolate cake with

1051. Brother Jim: cherries and everything in it.

1052. Brother Jim: I want to see that.

  1053. Brother Jim: Yeah.

1054. Brother Jim: You know, and then I'm hoping to get an invitation to come over.

1055. Brother Jim: But, you know, we put ourselves out there.

1056. Brother Jim: Well, little Jimmy did this.

1057. Brother Jim: Little Jimmy did that.

  1058. David: Yeah.

1059. Brother Jim: I've seen your kid.

1060. Brother Jim: He's out there eating dirt and looking at the train go by.

1061. David: Well, I was gonna say, you know,

1062. David: we'll post pictures of the kids

  1063. David: on Facebook.

  1064. David: Sometimes it's like.

1065. David: And they're the most perfect picture, or at least the most

1066. David: perfect we could get.

  1067. David: Yeah.

1068. David: They don't see the forty five minutes it took of screaming and

1069. David: yelling and all the pictures of the kids looking this way and

1070. David: that way, the fingers up and you know you're only seeing what you

1071. David: know, what's what's curated for you to see.

1072. Brother Jim: And any parent that's went through that knows exactly what

1073. Brother Jim: you're talking about.

1074. Brother Jim: And usually you get the kid

1075. Brother Jim: finally into and then you're the

  1076. Brother Jim: one, yeah.

  1077. David: You're done or you're.

  1078. Brother Jim: Yeah, yes.

1079. Brother Jim: But now we've created this

1080. Brother Jim: competition even more with

  1081. Brother Jim: social media.

1082. Brother Jim: Thus the peer pressure.

1083. Brother Jim: Thus, I mean, it's just a ripple effect.

1084. Brother Jim: A train effect keeps coming around.

1085. Brother Jim: All right, number nine, laziness and lack of discipline.

1086. Brother Jim: Avoiding responsibilities, procrastination,

1087. Brother Jim: procrastination, or choosing comfort over growth.

  1088. Brother Jim: Now procrastination.

1089. Brother Jim: I'm going to say I perform better under pressure.

  1090. Brother Jim: David.

1091. Brother Jim: That's my go to there.

1092. Brother Jim: So when something you know something's due, I'm usually at

1093. Brother Jim: my best come crunch time.

  1094. Brother Jim: Crunch time.

  1095. Brother Jim: Yeah.

1096. Brother Jim: And that's a bunch of horse poo too.

1097. Brother Jim: So. avoiding responsibility.

1098. Brother Jim: Oh my goodness, where is our responsibility at?

1099. Brother Jim: I'm going to throw out there

1100. Brother Jim: with raising our kids and

  1101. Brother Jim: grandkids.

1102. Brother Jim: How about that when something to chew on America.

1103. Brother Jim: How about Singapore?

1104. Brother Jim: How about the rest of the world?

1105. Brother Jim: You all got that problem too.

1106. Brother Jim: It seems like boy America, we can make them, but we can't take

1107. Brother Jim: care of them.

  1108. Brother Jim: Ooh!

  1109. Brother Jim: Ouch!

  1110. Brother Jim: Hey!

  1111. Brother Jim: It's true, it's true.

1112. Brother Jim: Uh, not everybody though.

1113. Brother Jim: Hey, like anything, there's good and bad.

1114. Brother Jim: Good mommies and daddies.

1115. Brother Jim: There's bad mommies and daddies.

1116. Brother Jim: You know, it's just sad, though.

1117. Brother Jim: Where is our responsibility?

  1118. Brother Jim: Government.

  1119. Brother Jim: Ooh.

1120. Brother Jim: How about it?

  1121. Brother Jim: Government.

1122. Brother Jim: Where is your responsibility?

1123. Brother Jim: To the American people?

  1124. Brother Jim: Why?

1125. Brother Jim: You were elected.

1126. Brother Jim: Throw that out there, David.

1127. Brother Jim: I think they seem to have

1128. Brother Jim: forgotten what they were elected

  1129. Brother Jim: for.

  1130. Brother Jim: Responsibility.

1131. Brother Jim: You hold accountable.

1132. Brother Jim: We trust you to put you in

1133. Brother Jim: there, to make the right

1134. Brother Jim: decisions, to do what's best for

1135. Brother Jim: America, not what's best for

  1136. Brother Jim: you.

1137. Brother Jim: And the line, your pocket.

1138. Brother Jim: And that goes Democrat,

1139. Brother Jim: Republican and everybody else

  1140. Brother Jim: involved.

  1141. David: Federal and state.

1142. Brother Jim: Yes. Federal and state.

  1143. Brother Jim: Even local.

  1144. David: Yeah, right.

1145. Brother Jim: Yes. Come on now.

1146. Brother Jim: Give me an amen on that one.

  1147. Brother Jim: Alright.

1148. Brother Jim: Or choosing comfort over growth.

1149. Brother Jim: Oh, we all love to say stay in

1150. Brother Jim: that little comfy circle, don't

  1151. Brother Jim: we?

1152. Brother Jim: I'm guilty of it too.

1153. Brother Jim: Uh, Dave and my little comfy

1154. Brother Jim: circle is my recliner with the

  1155. Brother Jim: heating pad.

  1156. David: Oh, yeah.

1157. Brother Jim: Ooh, it'd take a. You know what I'm trying to think of somebody

1158. Brother Jim: that I really dig.

1159. Brother Jim: Showing up at the door.

1160. Brother Jim: It would take somebody very

1161. Brother Jim: impressive to get me up out of

1162. Brother Jim: the chair at this stage of my

  1163. Brother Jim: life.

1164. Brother Jim: You know, I think if Kerry said

  1165. Brother Jim: there's a tornado coming, I'd be

1166. Brother Jim: like, I'll be all right, you

  1167. Brother Jim: guys.

  1168. Brother Jim: We'll see.

  1169. Brother Jim: Yes.

1170. Brother Jim: Comfort over growth.

1171. Brother Jim: I'm struggling with that right now.

1172. Brother Jim: I was just complaining to David.

1173. Brother Jim: You know these classes we got to take, man.

1174. Brother Jim: I have not exercised the brain in a long time.

1175. Brother Jim: And yes, folks, the brain, the memory even gets a little rusty.

1176. Brother Jim: When you don't use it.

  1177. Brother Jim: So, uh.

1178. Brother Jim: Man, I'm looking at this chicken right now, and, uh, I'm very

1179. Brother Jim: jealous of him.

1180. David: He don't have to take any classes.

1181. Brother Jim: He don't have to take any classes.

1182. Brother Jim: Yeah, he don't have to grow any in his line of business.

1183. Brother Jim: That's not good to grow.

  1184. Brother Jim: So.

  1185. Brother Jim: Alrighty.

  1186. Brother Jim: Number ten.

1187. Brother Jim: Doubt and loss of faith.

1188. Brother Jim: Questioning purpose, truth or

1189. Brother Jim: God, especially during difficult

  1190. Brother Jim: times.

  1191. Brother Jim: Pretty self-explanatory.

  1192. Brother Jim: Explanatory there.

1193. Brother Jim: Is it safe to say we've all lost faith at times?

  1194. Brother Jim: Questioned.

1195. Brother Jim: How about that question?

1196. Brother Jim: Or maybe loss of faith,

1197. Brother Jim: questioning purpose, truth or

1198. Brother Jim: God, especially during difficult

  1199. Brother Jim: times?

1200. Brother Jim: Number eleven power and control.

1201. Brother Jim: Wanting dominance over others.

1202. Brother Jim: Manipulating situations or people for personal benefit.

1203. Brother Jim: Oh, I know a couple like that

1204. Brother Jim: I've experienced throughout my

  1205. Brother Jim: life.

1206. Brother Jim: Yeah, and you know what?

1207. Brother Jim: Sometimes, yes, we can manipulate to benefit from it.

1208. Brother Jim: You know, I hate to say it, but, yeah, we can, you know.

  1209. Brother Jim: Um.

1210. Brother Jim: Uh. Oh, what was that old one there?

1211. Brother Jim: Where, uh, if you had a split between two kids, like a, a big

1212. Brother Jim: piece of pie, you know, and to keep them from manipulating, you

1213. Brother Jim: know, the one that cut it, the other person got to choose it.

1214. Brother Jim: So then, you know, as even as even can be.

1215. Brother Jim: But yeah, you know, it's easy to manipulate sometimes.

1216. Brother Jim: Oh, look at our elderly.

1217. Brother Jim: How bad they are manipulated.

  1218. Brother Jim: Yeah.

1219. Brother Jim: These, uh, yeah.

  1220. Brother Jim: Yeah.

1221. Brother Jim: Taking advantage, scamming people.

  1222. Brother Jim: That's horrible.

  1223. Brother Jim: Horrible.

  1224. Brother Jim: Number twelve.

1225. Brother Jim: Entertainment and distraction overload.

1226. Brother Jim: Being so consumed by media, phones and pleasures that you

1227. Brother Jim: neglect what truly matters.

1228. Brother Jim: Enough said on that one.

1229. Brother Jim: And number thirteen.

1230. Brother Jim: Fear and anxiety, leading to wrong choices.

1231. Brother Jim: Letting fear drive decisions instead of faith or wisdom.

1232. Brother Jim: Number fourteen self-reliance over dependence on God.

1233. Brother Jim: Believing you don't need

1234. Brother Jim: guidance, help, or

  1235. Brother Jim: accountability.

  1236. Brother Jim: Wow.

1237. Brother Jim: Been there myself, my friend.

1238. Brother Jim: Been there myself.

  1239. Brother Jim: Yes.

  1240. Brother Jim: Number fifteen.

  1241. Brother Jim: Compromise.

1242. Brother Jim: Gradually lowering standards.

1243. Brother Jim: Telling yourself it's not that bad until it becomes a habit.

1244. Brother Jim: Yeah, my belly's not that bad.

  1245. Brother Jim: It's okay.

1246. Brother Jim: I just had to put an extra or a loosen up, you know?

1247. Brother Jim: I'm wearing sweatpants now instead of my slack.

1248. Brother Jim: It's all right.

  1249. Brother Jim: All right.

1250. Brother Jim: These temptations are not new, but they are louder, louder and

1251. Brother Jim: more accessible today.

1252. Brother Jim: And I have to agree with that.

1253. Brother Jim: The key is not pretending they

1254. Brother Jim: don't exist, but recognizing

1255. Brother Jim: them and choosing how to

  1256. Brother Jim: respond.

1257. Brother Jim: A lot that we covered today.

  1258. Brother Jim: This morning.

1259. Brother Jim: Think about it.

1260. Brother Jim: Go back if you want to.

1261. Brother Jim: You can agree or disagree.

1262. Brother Jim: Or maybe you've got some yourself.

1263. Brother Jim: Hey, Jim, you missed out on this one.

1264. Brother Jim: Let us know in the comments.

1265. Brother Jim: Well, that just about does it my friends for this.

1266. Brother Jim: Tuesday, April seventh, twenty twenty six.

1267. Brother Jim: Mr. David, my friend, closing

1268. Brother Jim: thoughts or comments for this

  1269. Brother Jim: segment?

  1270. David: I don't think I have any.

1271. David: There was a lot there to digest.

1272. David: I'm still digesting it.

1273. David: Yeah, we'll we'll follow up on Thursday.

1274. Brother Jim: I should have brought you some Tums.

  1275. David: Thanks.

1276. Brother Jim: Yeah, this is one you might have

1277. Brother Jim: to go back and look, if you're

  1278. Brother Jim: that interested.

1279. Brother Jim: But our friends, as we close, please remember you.

  1280. Brother Jim: Yes, you.

1281. Brother Jim: You have meaning.

1282. Brother Jim: You have value.

1283. Brother Jim: And most of all, you are loved.

1284. Brother Jim: May God continue to bless you just as well.

1285. Brother Jim: May you and I continue to thank our Lord above for our blessings

1286. Brother Jim: each and every day.

1287. Brother Jim: And if we meet again, well, then we will smile and rejoice.

1288. Brother Jim: And if not, then this parting was well made.

1289. Brother Jim: Thank you for joining David and myself this morning here on

1290. Brother Jim: Bible bibs and a prayer.

1291. Brother Jim: This is the big guy, Brother Jim out.
