David: You got about three or four up there.

Brother Jim: Somehow, despite all that, ladies and gentlemen, he is

Brother Jim: Bob Uecker imitation, which we

Brother Jim: are going to get that on here

Brother Jim: one day.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: And I asked her about that, actually.

Brother Jim: She said, yeah.

Brother Jim: She actually told my mom the other day and Sunday.

Brother Jim: And she piped up and said, that's my son.

Brother Jim: And I told her, that's one of my best friends.

David: Hey, listen, I was at the airport the other day, and there

David: was this old lady.

David: She was passed out on the baggage carousel thing, but

David: she's slowly coming around.

Brother Jim: getting when I was looking at,

Brother Jim: uh, uh, like blueberry raspberry

Brother Jim: blackberry plants.

Brother Jim: And I do want to put some in.

Brother Jim: I attempted that a couple years ago.

Brother Jim: And, you know, the funny thing

Brother Jim: is, David, you got to keep them

Brother Jim: watered.

David: That's darn thing.

Brother Jim: I know who would have thought.

David: Come on.

Brother Jim: And I made a very costly mistake a couple years ago.

Brother Jim: I went over here to Gooding's when they were still in

Brother Jim: business, and I got some.

Brother Jim: They weren't cheap, uh, apple trees, pear trees and that.

Brother Jim: And the lady said, no, you need to make sure you know the deer.

Brother Jim: And I'm like, no, deer ain't going to bother these.

Brother Jim: Guess what?

David: Tore them up.

Brother Jim: Well, the sad thing was I had to haul in the Steiner.

Brother Jim: I'd haul three buck, three five

Brother Jim: gallon buckets of water, you

Brother Jim: know?

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: So after about four weeks of doing that in the heat and

Brother Jim: everything, I go back to one morning and they're shredded.

Brother Jim: Like like there went some money.

Brother Jim: I'm not telling Carrie about this one.

Brother Jim: Uh, maybe that was a little

Brother Jim: pride right there that we've

Brother Jim: talked about.

Brother Jim: I know more than the nursery lady does.

Brother Jim: And guess what she hit?

David: It turns out she was right.

Brother Jim: She stepped up to the plate and knocked one out of there, and

Brother Jim: poor Jim struck out again.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: So, uh, let us know.

Brother Jim: You got any vegetable gardens getting ready to be started?

Brother Jim: Hey.

Brother Jim: And our friends across the world.

Brother Jim: What are you all doing over there?

Brother Jim: We'd love to know.

Brother Jim: How's the fishing season?

Brother Jim: I did get my fishing license.

Brother Jim: Did you?

Brother Jim: That would be a good one to tape right there.

David: I had read somewhere that they're thinking.

David: Or they're trying to do constitutional fishing in Ohio.

David: Yes, that'd be nice.

Brother Jim: Yes, it was twenty five bucks.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Which that's not bad.

Brother Jim: But then they ask you, well, what are you fishing for?

Brother Jim: It's a survey, and I'm like, fish.

Brother Jim: And the guy, he was awesome.

Brother Jim: He had a good sense of humor.

Brother Jim: He's like, I gotta ask these.

Brother Jim: I'm like, okay.

Brother Jim: He's like, yeah, obviously.

Brother Jim: What are you fishing for?

Brother Jim: Fish.

Brother Jim: Uh. What kind of fish?

Brother Jim: I don't care.

David: Is it like at the fireworks store when everybody had to put

David: where they were taking them to?

David: Yeah, West Virginia, West Virginia.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: I love that.

Brother Jim: And then the next hour, they're burning all the sheets.

David: Out in the.

Brother Jim: Back. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man.

Brother Jim: Those were the good old days

Brother Jim: back in the eighties and

Brother Jim: nineties there.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Burnett Show and I love Tim

Brother Jim: Oh, man.

David: Yes.

Brother Jim: But they were interviewing Vicki

Brother Jim: Lawrence, and I've watched this

Brother Jim: thing probably ten times the

Brother Jim: interview of the scene where she

Brother Jim: makes and she was fairly new to

Brother Jim: the show.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And they gave her warning, hey, Tim's going to change up the

Brother Jim: story about the elephants.

Brother Jim: And she dropped a line and everybody fell off the couch.

Brother Jim: But it just I don't know if a guy funnier than Tim Conway.

Brother Jim: I mean, he did.

David: Have you seen the clips with him and Harvey Korman where he he.

David: I'm laughing just thinking about.

David: He keeps saying, come on.

Tim Conway: This also entitles you to a clock you can take with.

Brother Jim: nothing without the trial of

Brother Jim: temptation.

Brother Jim: For there is no conflict without an enemy.

Brother Jim: No victory without strife.

Brother Jim: Now, Tuesday, we got into a long winded session I did on, uh,

Brother Jim: temptation, and we listed fifteen different temptations.

Brother Jim: It's very real in our society today.

Brother Jim: And hopefully you went over them

Brother Jim: or went back, because I know I

Brother Jim: got a little long winded there

Brother Jim: and got way off track, but, uh,

Brother Jim: why are we led into into

Brother Jim: temptation?

Brother Jim: And maybe, just maybe, you were honest with yourself and said,

Brother Jim: man, some of them temptations that Jim said Jim and David

Brother Jim: talked about, I might fall into that a little bit.

Brother Jim: And I believe, David, we all

Brother Jim: have our temptations, you know,

Brother Jim: and, uh, again, it's, it's not a

Brother Jim: sin.

Brother Jim: It's just when we act on those

Brother Jim: temptations and, uh, in doing

Brother Jim: so, there's a few there that I

Brother Jim: was like, oh, boy, you know,

Brother Jim: kind of like when we were

Brother Jim: talking about peer pressure,

Brother Jim: well, what we put in our bodies

Brother Jim: to perform, you know, now I'm

Brother Jim: not taking juice or anything

Brother Jim: like that.

Brother Jim: Right.

Brother Jim: Um, but, you know, the, the

Brother Jim: caffeine and stuff, uh, which

Brother Jim: that'd be, you know what, here's

Brother Jim: a, here's something we'd love to

Brother Jim: know.

Brother Jim: How many cups of coffee do you drink in a day?

Brother Jim: MM. That would be a good one, David.

Brother Jim: On average, how many cups of coffee do you drink a day?

Brother Jim: Let us know.

Brother Jim: Now I can say zero unless it's iced coffee.

Brother Jim: Maybe two every three weeks.

Brother Jim: Yeah, that's about it.

Brother Jim: So. And you're not a coffee guy, are you?

David: I limit it to one cup a day when

David: I'm working Monday through

David: Friday.

David: Come into work.

David: I have one cup.

David: That's okay.

David: So that's really all right.

David: None on the weekends.

Brother Jim: Yeah. I'll hit Begbie up.

Brother Jim: I was on it before the kidney stone.

Brother Jim: I was hitting Begbie a lot with two iced coffees, and, man, I

Brother Jim: just suck them down so good.

Brother Jim: Yeah, but, uh, why are we

Brother Jim: letting the temptation, my

Brother Jim: friends?

Brother Jim: And that's a deep question.

Brother Jim: And one people I. You know what?

Brother Jim: How long have we as mankind wrestled with that?

Brother Jim: Why why are we letting

Brother Jim: temptation from a biblical

Brother Jim: perspective, the devil who

Brother Jim: Satan, who we've been talking

Brother Jim: about, tempts people with a

Brother Jim: clear purpose.

Brother Jim: And here's the thing.

Brother Jim: To pull them away from God.

Brother Jim: And what is good now when we think of temptations?

Brother Jim: Are they good or bad?

Brother Jim: Well, to me it depends on what we're doing with them.

David: Right?

Brother Jim: You know.

Brother Jim: Um, okay, we just talked about peer pressure.

Brother Jim: Can pressure.

Brother Jim: Can pressure be a good thing in our lives?

David: I think it can be to some extent.

Brother Jim: Okay. Can it be?

Brother Jim: How about a positive driving force?

Brother Jim: Could we rename it that.

Brother Jim: A positive driving force?

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah. So again, we could say I

Brother Jim: know I'm kind of twisting and

Brother Jim: turning here.

Brother Jim: Um, you know, instead of us just skating through life, if we put

Brother Jim: a little pressure on ourselves in a positive way, that doesn't

Brother Jim: lead us down another road.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: We want to do good, do we not?

Brother Jim: We want to perform well.

Brother Jim: Um, we want to be a good husband.

Brother Jim: We want to be a good wife.

Brother Jim: We want to be a good father, mother, grandparents.

Brother Jim: We want to be a good employee.

Brother Jim: We want to be.

Brother Jim: We want to be a good follower of Christ.

Brother Jim: And that's where, you know, it

Brother Jim: comes down to personal

Brother Jim: preference on how we're going to

Brother Jim: do that.

Brother Jim: And do we have the ability?

Brother Jim: Yes, we do.

Brother Jim: To turn that temptation away, to deny the temptation, temptation

Brother Jim: and the devil.

Brother Jim: He wants to separate us from God.

Brother Jim: We've talked about that many times, and temptation is meant

Brother Jim: to weaken, weaken our relationship with God.

Brother Jim: If he can distract, that's a big one.

Brother Jim: Distract, distract.

Brother Jim: If he can discourage or lead us

Brother Jim: into sin, it creates distance

Brother Jim: spiritually.

Brother Jim: Distract.

Brother Jim: Anywhere you look, dude, we're distracted all the time.

David: Oh, yeah.

Brother Jim: I mean, the United States is full of entertainment

Brother Jim: distractions, is it not?

Brother Jim: Never been to Vegas.

Brother Jim: Don't plan on going to Vegas.

Brother Jim: I did want to go out one time and see some of the shows, but

Brother Jim: now I have no desire.

Brother Jim: But I couldn't imagine I'd be, you know.

David: Just it's going to be a nightmare.

Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.

Brother Jim: I mean, and I love the people watch, but I think I'd have an

Brother Jim: overload on that because from what I hear, you see everything,

Brother Jim: uh, but distraction now, uh, from reels, which I get

Brother Jim: distracted on, on Facebook, they're to YouTube.

Brother Jim: Um, um, TV show entertainment in general.

Brother Jim: It can really pull our time away.

Brother Jim: And you don't think the devil's not using that a little bit?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

David: I for sure.

Brother Jim: I believe, I really believe that discourage, uh, discouragement.

Brother Jim: She's a whiz.

Brother Jim: I could write a book on that one myself.

Brother Jim: How easy it is we allow.

Brother Jim: Now, David, you said something

Brother Jim: last Thursday that was very

Brother Jim: good.

Brother Jim: about what?

Brother Jim: Satan can't until we do something.

David: Yeah. He can't.

David: He can't read our minds.

David: He doesn't know what we're thinking until we speak it.

Brother Jim: Yes. And that hit me a lot this week.

Brother Jim: It really did, because, uh, I forgot to look it up in

Brother Jim: Philippians about grumbling, and I love to talk to myself.

Brother Jim: So, uh, wouldn't that be a odd looking thing?

Brother Jim: Mean with a pig and a rooster

Brother Jim: there in the big black truck

Brother Jim: driving down the road and me

Brother Jim: talking to.

David: You might get to go on a vacation if that.

Brother Jim: Thank you.

Brother Jim: That's a good idea.

Brother Jim: Alrighty.

Brother Jim: I'll start planning right now.

Brother Jim: I might throw the alligator in the.

David: Middle of it.

Brother Jim: All right, but, uh, discourage discouragement, man.

Brother Jim: It's hard, is it not?

Brother Jim: People.

Brother Jim: Do you get this?

Brother Jim: Do you get discouraged?

Brother Jim: Do you get distracted?

Brother Jim: Be honest with yourself.

Brother Jim: There's no shame in saying it.

Brother Jim: We all have our weaknesses.

Brother Jim: We all have our struggles.

Brother Jim: Uh, I'll be honest.

Brother Jim: Sunday mornings you can get very discouraged at times.

Brother Jim: I'll be very honest with you.

Brother Jim: You know, it really cracks my

Brother Jim: eggs right after Sunday morning

Brother Jim: service.

Brother Jim: You're feeling good.

Brother Jim: You're you're you're talking, you're seeing people.

Brother Jim: And right out of the mouth, you start hearing people complaining

Brother Jim: and talking about other people.

Brother Jim: David.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: That kills me.

Brother Jim: Yeah. It's like you can't even give God the courtesy of at

Brother Jim: least getting out of the church before you start about somebody.

Brother Jim: Really.

Brother Jim: That's a discouragement to me because then it automatically

Brother Jim: goes to me.

Brother Jim: Well, that message must have really hooted.

David: I can think of another thing

David: that's probably a discouragement

David: to you, too, when you're trying

David: to get prepared and you're

David: preparing for the service and

David: people come up to you and I

David: need.

David: Did you hear?

David: Yeah.

David: Leave the pastor alone.

David: He's trying to prepare to bring you the word.

David: He doesn't need all this baggage

David: put on him before he walks out

David: there.

Brother Jim: Amen. And again, it's not that I don't want to.

Brother Jim: Just give me time to.

Brother Jim: After the service, I'm all yours.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: You know, but yeah, you're

Brother Jim: trying to get in that in that

Brother Jim: zone and.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: That that happened the other day and that really that hurt me.

Brother Jim: David.

Brother Jim: It's like, yeah, man.

Brother Jim: Because then it's a self reflection on my part.

Brother Jim: Apparently I didn't inspire or I didn't give God's word to do.

Brother Jim: But on the other hand, if you know where it's coming from, you

Brother Jim: know the source.

Brother Jim: Billy Graham can come in and give the most, God bless his,

Brother Jim: you know, soul there.

Brother Jim: The late Billy Graham, it wouldn't matter.

Brother Jim: They would still complain.

David: I had a phrase I've used for years.

David: Got it from somebody else.

David: It makes no sense.

David: But you can lead a horse to

David: water, but you can't punch in

David: the face.

Brother Jim: Ah, yeah. Yeah. Discouragement, I mean.

Brother Jim: Oh, Jim got discouraged the other day.

Brother Jim: I'll share this with you.

Brother Jim: I thought I was going to get a good grade on my test.

Brother Jim: It didn't do horrible, but it wasn't what I was expecting.

Brother Jim: Yeah, I'm like, man, remember those days?

Brother Jim: Let's go way back, guys.

Brother Jim: Oh yeah.

Brother Jim: It's it happens.

Brother Jim: You try to do something nice for

Brother Jim: your loved ones and it blows up

Brother Jim: on you.

Brother Jim: You know, uh, Amazon doesn't deliver.

Brother Jim: Yep.

Brother Jim: Yes, but it was supposed to be here before Christmas.

David: You ordered the wrong thing by accident.

Brother Jim: Uh, yeah.

Brother Jim: So, yeah, it happens.

Brother Jim: Uh, distract, discourage, and lead us into sin.

Brother Jim: It creates distance spiritually,

Brother Jim: as I said, emotionally and

Brother Jim: morally.

Brother Jim: And, you know, you think about it.

Brother Jim: And I was thinking about this the other night.

Brother Jim: Emotionally, what's it do to God?

Brother Jim: You know, we're claiming we love him.

Brother Jim: We do this, but then on the drop of a dime, we can turn around

Brother Jim: and just do something so stupid.

Brother Jim: Sin.

Brother Jim: It's like, why?

Brother Jim: I guess the question is, David,

Brother Jim: when it doesn't start, start to

Brother Jim: bother you is that when we're in

Brother Jim: trouble?

Brother Jim: When conviction no longer plays a part or you feel no remorse?

David: I think so.

Brother Jim: I believe so.

David: Because the Holy Spirit has stopped working on you.

Brother Jim: Exactly.

Brother Jim: And again, that's one of my big

Brother Jim: fears because I know my own

Brother Jim: personal battles.

Brother Jim: And yeah, it's.

Brother Jim: And then you start going through

Brother Jim: that whole thing of

Brother Jim: discouragement.

Brother Jim: All right.

Brother Jim: You didn't pray enough.

Brother Jim: You didn't read enough.

Brother Jim: You didn't believe enough.

Brother Jim: You didn't have enough faith.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: It gets you, uh, emotionally and morally.

Brother Jim: And I'm sure as a father and a husband, you have your roller

Brother Jim: coaster rides, don't you?

Brother Jim: Oh, what husband or father doesn't, you know?

Brother Jim: Or what wife?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: You know, from the workplace to the home, it's it's a roller

Brother Jim: coaster ride at times.

Brother Jim: There's times.

Brother Jim: Man, you are flying high, brother.

Brother Jim: Whew.

Brother Jim: Life is.

David: Good. Yep.

Brother Jim: And then it seems like at the drop of a hat.

Brother Jim: Oh, man.

Brother Jim: The bottom fell out.

Brother Jim: Made the wife mad.

Brother Jim: Kicked the dog.

Brother Jim: Had to go to the vet.

Brother Jim: I better not say that.

Brother Jim: We'll get in trouble here.

David: Right?

Brother Jim: Yeah. Uh, I made a funny face at

Brother Jim: the goldfish there and scared

Brother Jim: the goldfish.

Brother Jim: Is that better?

Brother Jim: You know.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: How about you guys?

Brother Jim: Does it happen to you?

Brother Jim: Are you on an emotional roller coaster or roller coaster?

Brother Jim: Sometimes.

Brother Jim: Death.

Brother Jim: Death can mess you up when you lose someone special.

Brother Jim: I mean, that can really.

Brother Jim: Or sometimes I find myself getting all emotional over

Brother Jim: somebody I didn't even know.

Brother Jim: You know, it just.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Ah. To distort what is good.

Brother Jim: What is good?

Brother Jim: Now we're saying to distort what is good.

Brother Jim: Well, what is good?

Brother Jim: How would you answer that, my friends?

Brother Jim: What is good in your life?

Brother Jim: What do you hold value as good?

Brother Jim: Well, we could say number one ourselves what God created.

Brother Jim: You ever beat yourself up?

Brother Jim: At times.

Brother Jim: When you look in that mirror.

Brother Jim: Sometimes you don't see beauty.

Brother Jim: Sometimes you wonder why.

Brother Jim: Our families, they're good, aren't they?

Brother Jim: But sometimes we.

Brother Jim: We lose patience.

Brother Jim: We just.

Brother Jim: You ever just want to walk away for a day?

Brother Jim: Yeah, but better yet, let's look at the real good.

Brother Jim: What Christ did on that cross.

Brother Jim: That's as good as it gets.

Brother Jim: Do we really take the time?

Brother Jim: Really take the time to think about it.

Brother Jim: To apply it.

Brother Jim: What he did for us to our own lives.

Brother Jim: What he did for us.

Brother Jim: And I still can't get over, David.

Brother Jim: That.

Brother Jim: here's this man, a son of God, who walked this earth.

Brother Jim: And became a point went from

Brother Jim: innocent to the most guilty for

Brother Jim: us.

Brother Jim: Think about that.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And that's what I get hung up on all this, you know?

Brother Jim: It's just like, wow, wow.

Brother Jim: I ain't worth that.

Brother Jim: There ain't nobody worth that.

Brother Jim: But yet Jesus.

David: God did it anyway.

Brother Jim: Did it anyway.

Brother Jim: So if that's not love and yet, what do we do?

Brother Jim: A lot of the times.

Brother Jim: To distort what is good.

Brother Jim: Don't let Satan distort what is good in your life.

Brother Jim: Don't let Satan distort what God made.

Brother Jim: Now, the enemy rarely offers

Brother Jim: something that looks evil at

Brother Jim: first.

Brother Jim: Oh, how true that is.

Brother Jim: Can't think about the of the Trojan horse back in the day.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: With the Greeks.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: They thought it was a gift.

Brother Jim: Thought it was beautiful.

Brother Jim: And look what it led to destruction.

Brother Jim: Instead, he twists what is good.

Brother Jim: Love becomes lust becomes laziness.

Brother Jim: Confidence becomes pride.

Brother Jim: It's not always about creating new desires, but.

Brother Jim: But here's the big but

Brother Jim: misdirecting the ones we already

Brother Jim: have to cause destruction over

Brother Jim: time.

Brother Jim: Satan doesn't need you right away, does he?

David: No. He's patient.

Brother Jim: Patient?

Brother Jim: Where are you?

Brother Jim: Down. Yeah. Where are you?

Brother Jim: Down.

Brother Jim: And what happens is he wears you down.

Brother Jim: What's the ripple effect of that?

Brother Jim: Think of your wife.

Brother Jim: Think of your kids, your job, your coworkers.

Brother Jim: Your misery causes others to be

Brother Jim: miserable, thus makes them

Brother Jim: miserable.

Brother Jim: Thus the people they encounter.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Or anger.

Brother Jim: We don't have to use misery.

Brother Jim: We can use anger.

Brother Jim: Or we could use lust.

Brother Jim: We can use lying.

Brother Jim: As we talked about the other

Brother Jim: day, one lie leads to another

Brother Jim: lie and you get caught up in

Brother Jim: them to cause destruction over

Brother Jim: time.

Brother Jim: Temptation often promises something small or harmless.

Brother Jim: Just this once.

Brother Jim: It won't matter.

Brother Jim: But over time, repeated choices can lead to habits, and habits

Brother Jim: can shape a life.

Brother Jim: The goal is long term damage.

Brother Jim: Let me say that again.

Brother Jim: The goal is long term damage, not just a single mistake.

Brother Jim: Real quick.

Brother Jim: Affairs.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Between a man and a woman.

Brother Jim: From movies, TV shows, sitcoms

Brother Jim: to seeing it happen in real

Brother Jim: life.

Brother Jim: It just don't happen, David.

David: Right.

Brother Jim: It just don't happen.

Brother Jim: I'm gonna know I'm not an expert, but I would say ninety

Brother Jim: five percent of the time it takes time to build up to.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: It just don't happen.

Brother Jim: Well, you know, I we won't even go there because we could really

Brother Jim: go down the road on that one.

Brother Jim: But yeah.

Brother Jim: Um, and once you do it and you don't get caught now this is

Brother Jim: with anything kind of makes it a little easier, doesn't it, for

Brother Jim: the next time.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Um. Let's see.

Brother Jim: When you don't pay for, uh, okay.

Brother Jim: They don't charge you for your, uh.

Brother Jim: Okay.

Brother Jim: This happened to me once.

Brother Jim: They didn't charge me for a couple two by fours.

Brother Jim: Now, I could have left and

Brother Jim: easily chalked it up to their

Brother Jim: mistake.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Or I could do the right thing and go back.

Brother Jim: But if you don't go back and pay, what happens?

Brother Jim: Could there be a little seed planted that.

Brother Jim: Hey, this was kind of cool.

Brother Jim: What else could I do?

Brother Jim: Right to where it leads you down that road.

Brother Jim: It could cost you.

Brother Jim: Now I did, I always I go back

Brother Jim: and pay because one, I don't

Brother Jim: want one.

Brother Jim: It's what I'm called to do.

Brother Jim: And two, I don't want someone getting in trouble if they come

Brother Jim: up short, you know?

Brother Jim: Uh, so yeah, that's, um,

Brother Jim: repeated choices can lead to

Brother Jim: habits and habits can shape a

Brother Jim: life.

Brother Jim: And again, the goal, as I just

Brother Jim: said, is long term damage, just

Brother Jim: not a single mistake to

Brother Jim: undermine identity and truth, to

Brother Jim: undermine your identity and the

Brother Jim: truth that you believe in, just

Brother Jim: like in Temptation of Jesus

Brother Jim: Christ.

Brother Jim: The attack often shares or often

Brother Jim: starts with doubt if you really

Brother Jim: are.

Brother Jim: did God really say temptation tries to make your question

Brother Jim: truth question, your truth, your identity and what you believe.

Brother Jim: And I think that happens all the time.

Brother Jim: David, we're being tempted.

Brother Jim: Ah, you know, how far is our truth?

Brother Jim: How far is our faith?

Brother Jim: Sure.

Brother Jim: You know, because he opposes what God loves.

Brother Jim: And at the core, temptation

Brother Jim: exists because the enemy opposes

Brother Jim: God.

Brother Jim: If God loves people, then tempting people is a way of

Brother Jim: working against that love.

Brother Jim: But here's the important balance

Brother Jim: temptation is real, but it's not

Brother Jim: unstoppable.

Brother Jim: Scripture teaches that you're

Brother Jim: not tempted beyond what you can

Brother Jim: bear.

Brother Jim: There's always a way out and you are not alone in the struggle.

Brother Jim: So while the devil may tempt, he does not, does not, does not

Brother Jim: control your choices.

Brother Jim: My choices?

Brother Jim: Simple way to think about it.

Brother Jim: Temptation is an invitation, not a command.

Brother Jim: You still decide whether to accept it.

Brother Jim: When we hear the words from the

Brother Jim: Lord's Prayer, lead us not into

Brother Jim: temptation.

Brother Jim: It can sound confusing.

Brother Jim: Why would God lead us into something harmful?

Brother Jim: In James one thirteen, when tempted, no one should say, God

Brother Jim: is tempting me.

Brother Jim: For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.

Brother Jim: But Scripture, like the book of James one thirteen, reminds us

Brother Jim: that God does not tempt anyone.

Brother Jim: So what does that mean?

Brother Jim: Temptation is a part of the human experience.

Brother Jim: It reveals what is in our hearts.

Brother Jim: It shows us where we are weak, where we need growth, and where

Brother Jim: we must rely on God.

Brother Jim: Even Christ was tempted in the wilderness wilderness, yet he

Brother Jim: did not fall.

Brother Jim: His example shows us that temptation itself is not sin.

Brother Jim: As David said, giving into it is something God allows us to face.

Brother Jim: temptation.

Brother Jim: Not to make us fail, but to make us stronger.

Brother Jim: Just like a muscle grows through

Brother Jim: resistance, faith grows through

Brother Jim: testing.

Brother Jim: And those moments we learn dependence, we learn humility,

Brother Jim: and we learn obedience.

Brother Jim: So when we pray, lead us not into temptation.

Brother Jim: We are really asking, Lord,

Brother Jim: guide me away from what could

Brother Jim: overwhelm me.

Brother Jim: Give me strength when I am tested.

Brother Jim: Deliver me.

Brother Jim: Deliver me from evil.

Brother Jim: Temptation is not a trap set by God.

Brother Jim: It's an opportunity.

Brother Jim: Opportunity, my friends, to trust him more deeply.

Brother Jim: Well, my friends, that just about does it for this.

David: No. We got pretty deep this week.

David: Yeah, there's a lot to, uh,

David: yeah, a lot to digest, a lot to

David: think about.

David: And I think it was, uh, close to home.

David: A lot of things too.

David: So.

Brother Jim: Well, again, being honest

Brother Jim: because you don't think I. Oh,

Brother Jim: Lord.

Brother Jim: But it's, it's.

Brother Jim: And that's what I'm hoping this program, our show does.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: It makes in the comfort of people's home or while they're

Brother Jim: driving like, dang.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: They hit it on the head.

David: Well, I mean, that's, that's what we try to be here for.

David: Like, we want to be relevant and

David: talk about things that people

David: deal with.

Brother Jim: Right, right.

Brother Jim: And we.

Brother Jim: David keeps me on track because he's had to edit me a couple

Brother Jim: times because I go off on a little too much.

Brother Jim: But again, it's just being honest and somebody's got to say

Brother Jim: it, you know?

Brother Jim: Yeah, somebody's got to say it.

Brother Jim: And there's always a time and a place.

Brother Jim: And, you know, this gives Dave

Brother Jim: and I, especially me a little

Brother Jim: more freedom to say some things

Brother Jim: that and again, not mean

Brother Jim: hurtful, but hey, let's be

Brother Jim: honest here.

Brother Jim: You know, let's be honest and we all struggle.

Brother Jim: And as David was talking here a little bit earlier about, uh,

Brother Jim: going to visit miss Sally there, I mean, you know, that we need

Brother Jim: to take a hard look on that.

Brother Jim: AM I being a little too self-righteous?

Brother Jim: You know, do I need to humble myself a little bit?

Brother Jim: And again, that's one of the biggest things I think in the

Brother Jim: church, one of the biggest things that can really rub

Brother Jim: people the wrong way.

Brother Jim: Humility when it is lack of.

Brother Jim: And, um, so yeah, we all need to

Brother Jim: be on guard on that, including

Brother Jim: myself, especially about the

Brother Jim: first time I start pumping my

Brother Jim: chest saying, oh, look what I

Brother Jim: did.

Brother Jim: That's when you know, I know

Brother Jim: quite a few people up there

Brother Jim: kicking my backside saying, hey,

Brother Jim: you need to bring it down,

Brother Jim: buddy.

Brother Jim: Well, our friends, as we close, please remember you.

Brother Jim: Yes, you, you have meaning, you have value.

Brother Jim: And most of all, oh my goodness, you are loved.

Brother Jim: May God continue to bless you just as well.
