David: It's good.

David: I feel kind of out of sorts.

David: I mean, we were on last week, but we taped a week ahead of

David: time because of Easter.

David: So I'm like a. It feels like it's all new again.

Brother Jim: So I know and I did this a while back.

Brother Jim: So it's like, man, yeah, I'm off too.

Brother Jim: But hey, we got a new friend to join.

David: I see that.

Brother Jim: Yeah, we got the little Lin, the little linster right here.

Brother Jim: Our little gorilla donated by Lin.

Brother Jim: I understand this came from not

Brother Jim: your childhood, but your

Brother Jim: brother's.

David: Yeah, I was around, but I don't I don't recall.

Brother Jim: That's what you said.

Brother Jim: Nobody remembers.

David: So it was really memorable.

Brother Jim: Yes, but we've been entrusted.

Brother Jim: Uh, and we named it automatically Little Lynn.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: And I hear this little gorilla can be grumpy at times.

Brother Jim: Not that the Leinster could be grumpy.

Brother Jim: I'm sure you've never seen her grumpy at all in your life.

David: Never.

Brother Jim: Yeah, I noticed some Sundays

Brother Jim: she's really pounding that piano

Brother Jim: board.

Brother Jim: Their keys.

Brother Jim: Makes me wonder what your dad did.

Brother Jim: And of course, we got Ida Lee and Dan the chicken.

Brother Jim: The rooster.

Brother Jim: So we are.

Brother Jim: We are just one big, happy family.

Brother Jim: That's right.

Brother Jim: Still in search of an alligator crocodile.

Brother Jim: So hopefully that will come to join us sometime.

Brother Jim: Um, but how was the weekend?

David: It was good.

David: Weather was decent.

David: I got the still working on the lawn.

David: I did the weed spraying, uh, for

David: over the weekend to get rid of

David: the weeds.

David: So things are very green, looking very good.

David: I've got the best lawn on the block.

Brother Jim: I believe that, I believe that, uh, I am battling thistles.

David: Ooh.

Brother Jim: We have two flower beds, two big

Brother Jim: ones that thistles always come

Brother Jim: up in.

Brother Jim: And they have just come to life.

Brother Jim: And I've been on Google, Amazon researching and it's like

Brother Jim: reading them comments, you know, majority of people give them a

Brother Jim: five star, but you always got them ones that makes you wonder.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: You know, because Thistle killer is not cheap by any means, you

Brother Jim: know, and of course, the best thing they say is to get there

Brother Jim: and dig them out.

Brother Jim: But it's like I've got hundreds all ready and them things hurt.

Brother Jim: Yeah, you got to wear gloves.

Brother Jim: And I hate wearing gloves to weed because you can't get a

Brother Jim: good yank on it, you know?

Brother Jim: So if anybody out there has a good remedy for thistles or uses

Brother Jim: a good thistle killer, please let me know in the comments.

Brother Jim: I would greatly appreciate it.

Brother Jim: So, uh, yeah, it's nice getting out there.

Brother Jim: The yard's finally drying up,

Brother Jim: and, uh, we're in full swing

Brother Jim: already behind, as I've stated

Brother Jim: before.

Brother Jim: But I did get my forks for my Steiner.

Brother Jim: Oh, yeah.

Brother Jim: We're going to start building some things.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: Nice.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: Got all these pallets, nice big pallets.

Brother Jim: And I think I over did an overkill on the forks.

Brother Jim: Oh yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: You could put these on a tractor bucket.

Brother Jim: So thank goodness we got a little poundage to help balance

Brother Jim: out the style.

David: If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing.

Brother Jim: That's right.

Brother Jim: I think these things are rated for two thousand pounds.

Brother Jim: So yeah, that's usually the way I do it an overkill.

Brother Jim: So from the buffet to the hay, you'd be proud of me.

Brother Jim: I went to the buffet the other night and I got one small salad

Brother Jim: and my salad looked so pretty.

Brother Jim: David.

Brother Jim: They could have taken a picture of it for an advertisement.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And then up a Dutch valley.

Brother Jim: And then only one little, you

Brother Jim: know, swipe through the the

Brother Jim: buffet line.

David: Good. That's good.

Brother Jim: Yeah. Just my daughter oldest works for them in advertising.

Brother Jim: I said, hon, baby girl, the

Brother Jim: food's just not what it used to

Brother Jim: be.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And she's like, yeah, dad, I

Brother Jim: hear it all the time in the

Brother Jim: complaint department.

David: So I have a funny story for them.

David: I interviewed with them one time.

David: Micah can't remember his last name, but the CEO there, Mike, I

David: interviewed with him and we're sitting at, uh, at, uh, Dutch

David: Valley, uh, doing the interview.

David: So we're talking about the business a little bit.

David: And, uh, and he said, well, what do you like here?

David: So I really enjoy the buffet.

David: And he followed that up with, yeah, the buffet doesn't make us

David: much money, you know, because, but you can get the buffet if

David: you want to.

David: What am I supposed to do?

David: At that point, you just told me

David: how much money it doesn't make,

David: right?

Brother Jim: Right. So now I was the only one that got the buffet, and I was

Brother Jim: kind of dumb because you can't take stuff home.

Brother Jim: Everybody else got dinners and

Brother Jim: it's like, why didn't I just get

Brother Jim: a dinner?

Brother Jim: Then I could have had leftovers, you know, because again, the

Brother Jim: appetite just wasn't there.

Brother Jim: But, uh, you know, no eyes were bigger than my stomach.

David: So I tried to go on a diet.

David: I was going to go on one, but,

David: uh, I got a lot on my plate

David: right now.

Brother Jim: Yes. Not the best co-host color commentator in the business for

Brother Jim: you right there, my friends.

Brother Jim: Yes, but, uh, you got any other jokes for us?

David: Um, well, you know, my wife wonders why I stare at the

David: window during thunderstorms.

David: She thinks it's weird.

David: I think it'd be a lot less weird if she just let me inside.

Brother Jim: No, that one's good.

Brother Jim: That one is good.

Brother Jim: Can I get a squeal from you?

Brother Jim: Yes, that's a good one.

Brother Jim: I have that problem, too.

Brother Jim: Must be contagious.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: Amongst women.

Brother Jim: So.

Brother Jim: Alrighty.

Brother Jim: Think about it.

Brother Jim: A little cargo space car?

Brother Jim: I thought that was kind of funny.

Brother Jim: All right.

Brother Jim: Our thought of the day.

Brother Jim: A silly idea is current that

Brother Jim: good people do not know what

Brother Jim: temptation means.

Brother Jim: This is an obvious life.

Brother Jim: Only those who try to resist

Brother Jim: temptation know how strong it

Brother Jim: is.

Brother Jim: A man who gives in to temptation

Brother Jim: after five minutes simply does

Brother Jim: not know what it would, what it

Brother Jim: would have been like an hour

Brother Jim: later.

Brother Jim: That is why bad people in one

Brother Jim: sense, know very little about

Brother Jim: badness.

Brother Jim: They have lived a sheltered life by always giving in.

Brother Jim: C.S.

Brother Jim: Lewis.

Brother Jim: Now we've been talking about sin leading into temptation, and

Brother Jim: we've touched on it before.

Brother Jim: But, uh, you know, especially

Brother Jim: now that lent is over, we go

Brother Jim: back to maybe some of our old

Brother Jim: ways, perhaps.

Brother Jim: David, I don't know.

Brother Jim: Funny how we give up something and then it's like a diet.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: At the end of the day, a lot of.

David: Times.

Brother Jim: We fall off the wagon.

Brother Jim: No temptation has overtaken you

Brother Jim: except what is common to

Brother Jim: mankind.

Brother Jim: Now we've been talking about sin.

Brother Jim: Satan just scratched the surface of that.

Brother Jim: But we know God is faithful and he will not let you be tempted

Brother Jim: beyond what you can bear.

Brother Jim: Temptation is something every single one of us face.

Brother Jim: Temptation does not mean you're weak.

Brother Jim: It means you're human.

Brother Jim: Even Jesus was tempted, yet he did not give in.

Brother Jim: That shows us something important.

Brother Jim: Temptation itself.

Brother Jim: As we've said this many times, we've talked the last few weeks

Brother Jim: on this dealing with sin.

Brother Jim: And that temptation itself is not to sin.

Brother Jim: It's giving in.

Brother Jim: That is the sin.

Brother Jim: So how do we fight it?

Brother Jim: Well, first, we recognize it early.

Brother Jim: You got to.

Brother Jim: Now we're all old enough, are we not?

Brother Jim: David, we know right from wrong.

Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah, we we pretty much know right from wrong.

Brother Jim: Now, occasionally we have a slip.

Brother Jim: As I was just discussing with

Brother Jim: David, I almost lost my finger

Brother Jim: doing something stupid with

Brother Jim: mechanical.

Brother Jim: And now.

Brother Jim: Well, that's not really, you know, temptation, but I. You

Brother Jim: ever look in the fan as a kid and you want to, you know, stick

Brother Jim: your finger in kind of what happened there, but we know

Brother Jim: right from wrong.

Brother Jim: I knew I should not be doing that.

Brother Jim: I should have turned the

Brother Jim: machinery off, but to save time

Brother Jim: I didn't.

Brother Jim: And it almost cost me the old trigger finger.

Brother Jim: Temptation usually starts small.

Brother Jim: A thought, a feeling, a moment.

Brother Jim: The sooner you catch it, the easier it is to stop.

Brother Jim: When you entertain in your mind,

Brother Jim: eventually what you entertain in

Brother Jim: your mind eventually shapes your

Brother Jim: actions.

Brother Jim: And how true that is.

Brother Jim: Amazing how all these little

Brother Jim: seeds are planted of want,

Brother Jim: desire, lust, jealousy, pride,

Brother Jim: you name it starts off as a

Brother Jim: little seed.

Brother Jim: But do we let it grow?

Brother Jim: Do we actually maybe give it a little fertilizer?

Brother Jim: Do we water it?

Brother Jim: Do we help it grow or do we pluck it?

Brother Jim: Second replace it.

Brother Jim: Do not just resist it now, like before, when?

Brother Jim: If we don't pull the root, what happens?

David: It's going to come right back.

Brother Jim: It's going to come back.

Brother Jim: Now we can kill the top of it

Brother Jim: with our handy dandy sprayer,

Brother Jim: can't we, with all the

Brother Jim: chemicals.

Brother Jim: But is it really going to the root?

Brother Jim: Because mainly we're focused on the surface, right?

Brother Jim: Yep.

Brother Jim: Is that not the same in life?

Brother Jim: We're so focused on the surface.

Brother Jim: Sometimes we miss the route from here to here.

Brother Jim: So again replace it.

Brother Jim: Do not just resist it.

Brother Jim: Resist it.

Brother Jim: It resists temptation.

Brother Jim: If you're only if you only try to say no, you'll get wore down.

Brother Jim: Fill that space with something better.

Brother Jim: Truth, prayer and purpose.

Brother Jim: Purpose.

Brother Jim: Yes, what you feed grows stronger.

Brother Jim: So with temptation, if we're feeding it now.

Brother Jim: God gave us all a mind.

Brother Jim: Most of us made a trip to Ravenna the other day.

Brother Jim: And I tell you, between seventy

Brother Jim: seven and seventy five, I was

Brother Jim: really wondering if some people

Brother Jim: had.

Brother Jim: Or seventy, seventy six excuse me.

Brother Jim: If they had some brains, I. Yeah, yeah.

Brother Jim: But think about it.

Brother Jim: What you feed grows stronger.

Brother Jim: So if we don't remove that

Brother Jim: temptation, if we don't remove

Brother Jim: that.

Brother Jim: So that's where the brain comes in again.

Brother Jim: We'll go back to food.

Brother Jim: If you are trying really hard,

Brother Jim: why go where you know there's

Brother Jim: going to be some of your

Brother Jim: favorite dishes?

Brother Jim: Yeah, true.

Brother Jim: If you know you've got a problem where you really, really like

Brother Jim: something that is not good for you and you're battling it, why

Brother Jim: be around it?

Brother Jim: Because again, if we just keep saying no, no, no to it and

Brother Jim: don't remove it, the root, it's going to keep coming back.

Brother Jim: Number three, remove yourself from it.

Brother Jim: Sometimes the most spiritual

Brother Jim: thing you can do is just to walk

Brother Jim: away.

Brother Jim: It doesn't mean you're weak.

Brother Jim: To me, that shows strength.

Brother Jim: I am not.

Brother Jim: I am making a choice not to go there, not to talk or even talk

Brother Jim: with that person.

Brother Jim: Because again, are we not influenced my friend by the

Brother Jim: people around us.

David: We are.

Brother Jim: For example, politics.

Brother Jim: When you are constantly glued to

Brother Jim: the news or social media, can

Brother Jim: that not just start a firestorm

Brother Jim: in you of getting bitter,

Brother Jim: getting angry, of maybe even

Brother Jim: some hate?

Brother Jim: True.

David: Absolutely.

Brother Jim: You're feeding the flames, especially.

Brother Jim: I remember some people with the whole Covid thing.

Brother Jim: They were so tuned in listening to I'm sorry.

Brother Jim: I'm going to call it a bunch of nonsense.

Brother Jim: Not saying all of it's not true, but you know what I mean.

Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.

Brother Jim: They got.

Brother Jim: I remember back in the day, instead of flipping channels you

Brother Jim: had for TVs, some of them guys, you know, you got a channel on

Brother Jim: every TV tuning into stuff.

Brother Jim: And again, I know it's going to irritate me.

Brother Jim: I'm not saying I'm not informed,

Brother Jim: but why go to those places that

Brother Jim: I know I'm going to get upset

Brother Jim: about?

Brother Jim: Yeah, or enter into a conversation with somebody that

Brother Jim: has the exact opposite idea or feelings or opinion.

Brother Jim: Why talk about it?

Brother Jim: Talk about something else again.

Brother Jim: There's so many things we can talk about.

Brother Jim: And if it's that bad, just walk away from the person or avoid

Brother Jim: the person until you have the strength that you are strong

Brother Jim: enough to do so.

Brother Jim: You do not have to prove how strong you are.

Brother Jim: Wisdom is knowing your limits

Brother Jim: and we all have limits, do we

Brother Jim: not?

Brother Jim: David.

David: We do.

Brother Jim: We all got limits.

Brother Jim: We can only take so much.

Brother Jim: Think of that five gallon bucket.

Brother Jim: You can only fill it up so much before.

Brother Jim: Then what?

Brother Jim: It starts to overflow.

Brother Jim: And that's where our anger, irritation, hate.

Brother Jim: That's one of the big things.

Brother Jim: Our bucket can overflow.

Brother Jim: You ever just get to that point?

Brother Jim: You just want to scream.

Brother Jim: You can't take any more stupidity.

Brother Jim: You can't.

Brother Jim: You ever have a coworker that

Brother Jim: just keeps running their mouth,

Brother Jim: or you ever have that person

Brother Jim: that's done it all and what they

Brother Jim: haven't done isn't worth doing

Brother Jim: anyway, right?

Brother Jim: I know some of them people in my

Brother Jim: life and it's just like, can't

Brother Jim: you just go along with the the

Brother Jim: conversation?

David: I gotta one up you.

Brother Jim: You go right ahead.

David: Yeah. No, I said they have to.

David: They, they have to one up you if you say you did.

David: So I did that plus you know just that.

Brother Jim: Hey, I just went to Egypt.

Brother Jim: Oh, I went to Istanbul.

Brother Jim: Oh.

David: Right.

Brother Jim: Class. Okay. I got coke and peanuts.

Brother Jim: Oh, we had a fine.

Brother Jim: Yeah, good for you.

Brother Jim: But.

Brother Jim: Or the other one.

Brother Jim: And I am going on a tangent here, a rant, but you and I are

Brother Jim: talking chickens, and somebody comes in and just totally

Brother Jim: dominates the conversation and starts talking about cars.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Where did we even, you know, you got three or four individuals

Brother Jim: talking chickens or whatever the case may be.

Brother Jim: And then somebody and I get it,

Brother Jim: they want to be a part of the

Brother Jim: conversation, but they

Brother Jim: automatically direct it to them

Brother Jim: in a, an idea or thought that

Brother Jim: has nothing to do with at least

Brother Jim: let the conversation come to an

Brother Jim: end and then interject yourself,

Brother Jim: right?

Brother Jim: You know, when you start getting the eye rolls and people start

Brother Jim: leaving the conversation, isn't that a hint?

David: Some people just don't have good social skills.

Brother Jim: Social skills?

Brother Jim: That's right.

Brother Jim: Yeah. Kind of like Bobby Boucher from The Waterboy.

Brother Jim: Ah, finally, lean on God.

Brother Jim: Not just your own strength.

Brother Jim: Fighting temptation alone is exhausting.

Brother Jim: Remember those ones we listed?

Brother Jim: I think there's fifteen of them, David.

Brother Jim: Those are a lot of temptations that we have to fight.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Just common temptations.

Brother Jim: And maybe, I'm sure each one of

Brother Jim: us have our own little

Brother Jim: temptations that maybe most

Brother Jim: people don't.

Brother Jim: Again, it's okay.

Brother Jim: Temptation is a part of life, but it's what we do with it.

Brother Jim: And you were never meant to do it alone.

Brother Jim: Strength comes when you admit you need help, and that is a

Brother Jim: hard thing to do, David.

Brother Jim: Especially as a man can't speak for a woman, a pig or a rooster

Brother Jim: or a monkey.

Brother Jim: Oh, sorry, gorilla.

David: But. Yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah, it's hard to admit I need help.

Brother Jim: And at the end of the day,

Brother Jim: temptation will come, my

Brother Jim: friends.

Brother Jim: But it does not have to win.

Brother Jim: Every time you choose what is right, you are becoming

Brother Jim: stronger, more disciplined, and more aligned with who you are

Brother Jim: called to be.

Brother Jim: Something to chew on this.

Brother Jim: My on this week, my friends.

Brother Jim: Think about it and be honest.

Brother Jim: As we've talked about

Brother Jim: temptations, we listed those

Brother Jim: fifteen.

Brother Jim: If you want to hear them again,

Brother Jim: go back to one of the shows

Brother Jim: there, David.

Brother Jim: He's got everything on YouTube for us all filed neat and nice.

Brother Jim: But uh, again, and this is stuff we want you to think about

Brother Jim: because we face it every day.

Brother Jim: And just trying to be honest

Brother Jim: here, we all have our own

Brother Jim: temptations.

Brother Jim: So think about it.

Brother Jim: And here's the thing.

Brother Jim: It's okay to ask for help.

Brother Jim: It's okay to ask for prayer.

Brother Jim: That's one of the greatest things you can do.

Brother Jim: You go to the father, but also turn to your brothers and

Brother Jim: sisters that you can trust.

Brother Jim: Let's be honest.

Brother Jim: Trust is a key thing in there because there are some people

Brother Jim: good intentions, but before you know it, it's come back to you.

Brother Jim: Totally different story, but it gets out.

Brother Jim: So build up that inner circle of friends, brothers and sisters

Brother Jim: that you can turn to and say, hey, I need prayer with this.

Brother Jim: And this is why.

Brother Jim: And again, you don't have to go into great detail, but just

Brother Jim: enough to know, hey, I'm struggling with this.

David: can't control of a bird flies over your head, but you can

David: control if it builds a nest.

David: And that bird being the temptation.

David: And, and I'm battling birds at

David: home right now trying to keep

David: them from building a nest on my

David: porch.

David: And I've got those spikes up there and they just build nests

David: on top of spikes, and you've got to pick them back up or they

David: knock them down.

David: So yeah, it's how much effort you put in to making sure that

David: the temptation doesn't build.

Brother Jim: There you go.

Brother Jim: Preparing yourself each and

Brother Jim: every day, each and every night,

Brother Jim: you know?

Brother Jim: Uh, you think about what we could do.

Brother Jim: As David said, are we willing to

Brother Jim: put the work in to prepare for

Brother Jim: that so we can fight the good
