David: And I'd just like to give you a glimpse of what you would see if

David: I didn't show up this morning.

David: Exactly.

Brother Jim: And we need to do a tour in here one day once we get it all.

Brother Jim: I tell you what, it is amazing.

Brother Jim: And I don't even know how to turn it on.

Brother Jim: So all I have to do, folks, is sign in on the the pad and turn

Brother Jim: on my little clicker.

Brother Jim: That's it.

Brother Jim: He's got everything else going.

Brother Jim: So how is life in Kanesville?

David: It's good.

David: It's. The weekend's almost here.

David: So big.

Brother Jim: Plans.

David: For the weekend?

David: Uh, let me think.

David: No, I don't think I have anything this weekend.

David: Got a spring concert coming up in a couple weeks or next

David: weekend, I don't know.

David: Yeah, for my oldest, but, uh, yeah, tis the season.

David: All the spring concerts and the plays and all that stuff.

Brother Jim: I've never been a concert guy.

Brother Jim: And Ellie's the first out of the

Brother Jim: four girls to get in a band, but

Brother Jim: it's really.

Brother Jim: I used to be one of those guys

Brother Jim: that made fun of the band

Brother Jim: members.

Brother Jim: Yeah, you know, the jock style.

Brother Jim: Oh. You know.

Brother Jim: Yeah, but it's good to see how much improvement they've made.

Brother Jim: It is.

Brother Jim: It's impressive because I. I couldn't do any of that.

Brother Jim: No, I have no musical ability.

Brother Jim: So shout out to the bands and

Brother Jim: the musical performers out

Brother Jim: there.

Brother Jim: Uh, it's cool to see.

David: Yeah. This thing that my son's

David: doing, it's, uh, I think there's

David: xylophones, but they're all

David: different sized.

David: Xylophones are like the big tall stand up ones, and.

David: Oh, yeah.

David: Uh, and he has to he has to miss

David: recess, like one day a week to

David: do it.

David: And he's not, complained one.

David: He really enjoys it.

Brother Jim: So yeah.

Brother Jim: How about you guys?

Brother Jim: Any band members out there let us know.

Brother Jim: Yep, I've tried and tried and it just doesn't go anywhere.

Brother Jim: I can make noise and that's about it.

Brother Jim: Drums.

Brother Jim: That would be cool.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Who is the coolest in the band?

David: I don't know, depends on the kind of band, I guess.

Brother Jim: Yeah, well, like in a concert band or a marching band, you

Brother Jim: know, because I know there's a little rivalry there between

Brother Jim: who's the best.

Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah, I always dug the

Brother Jim: tuba dudes because you had the

Brother Jim: big tuba and they got to wear

Brother Jim: the beret.

Brother Jim: Back in my day.

Brother Jim: So I always thought, man, if I had to play something, the tuba

Brother Jim: would be cool.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Um. Oh, boy.

Brother Jim: Uh, going back in the day.

Brother Jim: Jewitt Scio going way back.

Brother Jim: They had the brass.

Brother Jim: I think it's what it's called.

Brother Jim: They were all brass, man.

Brother Jim: They could they could tear it up.

Brother Jim: They always had a great band.

Brother Jim: And shout out to Canaan Valley,

Brother Jim: they've really built their band

Brother Jim: up.

Brother Jim: So yeah, because there I think there was a while they didn't

Brother Jim: have enough or only like for kids out there, now they're

Brother Jim: doing pretty good.

Brother Jim: So, uh, so yeah, so let us know.

Brother Jim: Um, yeah, I. I really don't

Brother Jim: think we got a whole lot going

Brother Jim: on, but you know, that's the

Brother Jim: thing.

Brother Jim: It's you never know what'll pop up.

David: Well, we're guys, we don't always have the schedule.

David: Exactly top of mind.

Brother Jim: And to be honest, I might be

Brother Jim: told to schedule, but I forget,

Brother Jim: right?

Brother Jim: Because chances are I'm not really listening.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Can I get an amen from any guys out there or wives saying, yeah,

Brother Jim: my husband doesn't listen either or my boys.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: Uh, but yeah, hopefully you've got plans for the weekend.

Brother Jim: Got something cool going on.

Brother Jim: Um, take advantage of the weather.

Brother Jim: I haven't looked at the forecast to see because what?

Brother Jim: The weekend.

Brother Jim: And of course, you never know.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Like I said Tuesday, we were up in Ravenna last week and oh my

Brother Jim: goodness, it was pouring.

Brother Jim: I mean, crazy rain.

Brother Jim: And then we get down to, uh, right outside of Canton and just

Brother Jim: a light mist.

Brother Jim: You know, by the time we got home.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And then as soon as we get out of the car, it starts right.

Brother Jim: So funny how Mother Nature, God's hand works, but, uh, it is

Brother Jim: nice not to have some rain right now just to get stuff done.

Brother Jim: So. But how about you again?

Brother Jim: Let us know what you got going on.

Brother Jim: Alrighty then.

Brother Jim: A week has almost come to an end.

Brother Jim: What have you done to make this past week?

Brother Jim: To make a difference in God's kingdom?

Brother Jim: Always got to ask that.

Brother Jim: Have you made a difference?

Brother Jim: And if you haven't, what's holding you back now?

Brother Jim: Come on.

Brother Jim: The weekend is almost here, so

Brother Jim: you've got time to do something

Brother Jim: good.

Brother Jim: Help out someone be kind.

Brother Jim: Something just wee wee Little, you know, go for it, go for it.

Brother Jim: You never know the blessings you might get.

Brother Jim: So saddle up and let's hit that brand new trail.

Brother Jim: New weekend trail together as we ride.

Brother Jim: Ride.

Brother Jim: Charging hard into the weekend.

Brother Jim: Come on, you can do it, friends.

Brother Jim: You're almost there now.

Brother Jim: Lunching with a friend and a fast food restaurant.

Brother Jim: I was telling him about a

Brother Jim: teenager who had rear ended my

Brother Jim: truck.

Brother Jim: The teen blamed me for the accident.

Brother Jim: She even called me every dirty name in the book, I said.

Brother Jim: Just then I looked over to the next table where two nine year

Brother Jim: old boys had been.

Brother Jim: Apparently they'd been listening

Brother Jim: in and paying close attention to

Brother Jim: my story.

Brother Jim: One said to the other, there's a book.

Brother Jim: Call me every name in the book, just to help explain that one.

Brother Jim: Today's thought.

Brother Jim: It is not the temptation you have, but the decision you make

Brother Jim: about them that counts.

Brother Jim: Billy Graham, We're going to finish up our little series here

Brother Jim: on temptation from sin.

Brother Jim: Why Satan wants us to sin who Satan is.

Brother Jim: That's going back about a couple of weeks there.

Brother Jim: And again, I want to come back to that later down the road and

Brother Jim: really get into Satan, Lucifer, and why he did that and, uh, and

Brother Jim: how we got here, David, how we really got here.

Brother Jim: And again, sin s I n I mean, that is the problem.

Brother Jim: That is what did us all in.

Brother Jim: But, uh, watch and pray so that

Brother Jim: you will not fall into

Brother Jim: temptation.

Brother Jim: The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Brother Jim: Matthew twenty six forty one.

Brother Jim: And as we've been, we talked

Brother Jim: about this last Tuesday, you

Brother Jim: know what to do when temptation

Brother Jim: arrives.

Brother Jim: You know, don't just say no to it.

Brother Jim: You got to get rid of it.

Brother Jim: You got to dig deep, get it out

Brother Jim: of your garden, out of your

Brother Jim: mind.

Brother Jim: But temptation often arrives quietly, not as something

Brother Jim: obviously destructive, but as something small, appealing, and

Brother Jim: just so easy to justify.

Brother Jim: Is that not the work of Satan, David?

David: It is.

Brother Jim: Isn't that one of his.

Brother Jim: I hate to use this word.

Brother Jim: Gifts that he has to make it appealing because it draws us

Brother Jim: away from what God wants, God's will and we're of flesh.

Brother Jim: And let's be honest, we're so good at that.

Brother Jim: Uh, just this once again, we'll go back to dieting.

Brother Jim: Whew.

Brother Jim: That Twinkie looks good.

Brother Jim: Just one.

Brother Jim: Just one little Twinkie.

Brother Jim: Well, if you're like me, what happens then?

Brother Jim: It turns into two Twinkies and a glass of milk.

Brother Jim: Well, I can't leave a whole box, so, you know.

Brother Jim: And I don't want the kids to eat it.

Brother Jim: Appealing.

Brother Jim: Easy to justify.

Brother Jim: And I think at times we all try to justify the sin in our lives

Brother Jim: because we know better.

Brother Jim: But it's such a struggle, is it not?

Brother Jim: Temptation whispers just just this once.

Brother Jim: No one, no one will know.

Brother Jim: But the danger of temptation is just is just not the act itself.

Brother Jim: Again, it's what we allow, how

Brother Jim: we allow it to grow, to grow

Brother Jim: into us.

Brother Jim: When we entertain temptation

Brother Jim: instead of resisting it, it

Brother Jim: begins to take root in the

Brother Jim: heart.

Brother Jim: And we've been talking about

Brother Jim: that, the root and how important

Brother Jim: it is.

Brother Jim: We got to recognize that.

Brother Jim: We got to get rid of it.

Brother Jim: A single comparison can be it

Brother Jim: can dull our sense of right and

Brother Jim: wrong.

Brother Jim: What do they say?

Brother Jim: The average age is around two or three.

Brother Jim: I think for a child, David, that knows right from wrong.

Brother Jim: Yeah, for the most part.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And here we are as adults

Brother Jim: twenties, thirties, forties,

Brother Jim: fifties, sixties, seventies,

Brother Jim: eighties.

Brother Jim: Still being tempted, still battling right or wrong.

Brother Jim: Maybe in your life you're maybe

Brother Jim: right now you're kind of in a a

Brother Jim: standoff between right and

Brother Jim: wrong.

Brother Jim: Do I give in?

Brother Jim: No one will ever know.

Brother Jim: And it's that's amazing.

Brother Jim: David, I know we've discussed this before, but man, it's

Brother Jim: amazing what things can come to life or get thrown under the

Brother Jim: spotlight when we don't want it.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And then you've got a big old mess.

Brother Jim: What once troubled our conscious starts to feel normal.

Brother Jim: And that's again, we keep doing it becomes part of our routine.

Brother Jim: And before you know it, it's just part of the norm.

Brother Jim: Over time, small choices form

Brother Jim: patterns, and patterns shape our

Brother Jim: character.

Brother Jim: What is your character, my friends?

Brother Jim: What is my character?

Brother Jim: What's David's character?

Brother Jim: How do you define character in your own life?

Brother Jim: What and who do you stand for?

Brother Jim: Scripture teaches that temptation itself is not a sin,

Brother Jim: and we've said that I know numerous times, but giving into

Brother Jim: it leads us down a path that separates us from wisdom, peace,

Brother Jim: and often from God's.

Brother Jim: What God wants for us, which is the best.

Brother Jim: Like a spark in dry grass.

Brother Jim: Unchecked temptation can grow into something far more

Brother Jim: destructive than we ever tend.

Brother Jim: And I think that's a good analogy there.

Brother Jim: Think about that.

Brother Jim: You ever see a raging forest fire?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: The destruction it causes and once it gets moving, gets some

Brother Jim: wind behind it, the elements, the conditions are right.

David: You just can't stop it.

Brother Jim: You and your little garden hose no, aren't going to do anything.

Brother Jim: And the same thing with us.

Brother Jim: Think of that.

Brother Jim: Our our ability, our power is

Brother Jim: like having a little garden

Brother Jim: hose, trying to put out a raging

Brother Jim: forest fire.

Brother Jim: We need a bigger hose.

Brother Jim: We need something greater, which is God.

Brother Jim: And again, there is hope and strength available.

Brother Jim: And what I just said, God, we're not called to fight temptation

Brother Jim: alone with awareness, prayer, and a willingness to turn away

Brother Jim: early, to turn away early, we can stop temptation.

Brother Jim: So again, we can stand there with our little hose.

Brother Jim: And if we see that spark, we can put it out because we're aware

Brother Jim: of the situation.

Brother Jim: But if we're not aware of the

Brother Jim: situation and we allow it to

Brother Jim: grow, we've got a raging forest

Brother Jim: fire.

Brother Jim: The moment we recognize it is the moment we have the power.

Brother Jim: And listen to me, friends.

Brother Jim: We have the power.

Brother Jim: We have the ability to choose differently.

Brother Jim: It comes down to your choice.

Brother Jim: God gave us free will, did he not?

Brother Jim: So in saying that we need to guard our heart, your heart, my

Brother Jim: heart and be honest.

Brother Jim: As we said last episode.

Brother Jim: Be honest about your weakness.

Brother Jim: You got to be truthful and ask people to pray for you.

Brother Jim: Turn it to God.

Brother Jim: Turn it over to your prayer warriors, and hopefully you've

Brother Jim: got a few prayer warriors that you can say, I need help.

Brother Jim: And remember, what you allow to

Brother Jim: linger will eventually shape

Brother Jim: your life.

Brother Jim: You ever, uh, have a campfire and you try to put it out and

Brother Jim: you don't do a good enough job, and you come back a little bit

Brother Jim: later, the next morning?

Brother Jim: What do you got?

Brother Jim: That baby's still smoldering.

Brother Jim: It's still alive.

David: Yep.

Brother Jim: And all it takes is a little wind, a little fuel, and boom,

Brother Jim: you've got a fire again.

Brother Jim: Choose what builds you, not what quietly breaks you again.

Brother Jim: Our friends.

Brother Jim: Something to chew on this weekend.

Brother Jim: Temptation.

Brother Jim: It's there, it's around.

Brother Jim: It's us all, all, all live long day.

Brother Jim: But we make the choice whether we give in or not.

Brother Jim: Well, my friends, that just about does it for this.
