The glory of the Lord covers the earth as the water covers the
-
sea. Scripture says Amen.
-
Just a few things to be again reminded of.
-
This coming Sunday will be our camp focus Sunday in the event
-
that we are going to pray for camp and we're also going to
-
take up a special offering for camp meeting to help offset the
-
cost. Camp is always expensive and of
-
course it gets more expenses over the years.
-
You go to the grocery store, you know you don't pay for groceries
-
what you did five years ago. And so to feed all those folks,
-
we still have a cheap camp in my estimation because I've been to
-
a lot of camps, preached at a lot of different camps and we
-
still have a cheap camp. Whenever you consider you get a
-
place to stay for five days and you get 2 meals a day with that
-
registration. So we're going to try to pay,
-
help pay and help pray for camp. And then on the 27th Monday,
-
that Monday will be camp registration.
-
And so again, I know you're like you kick a dead horse because
-
you talk about this all the time.
-
Well, whenever you don't have a room, you're going to say, I
-
should have listened to him. I'm just saying it goes that
-
quick folks. So just just be mindful, be
-
mindful of that. All the things looking again
-
toward May, May, we have Mother's Day.
-
We'll be feeding our firefighters for National
-
Firefighters Day. We'll be feeding our teachers
-
across our city for national teacher appreciation.
-
We'll have a revival that will start at the end of that the
-
very end of that month. We'll have our summer kicked off
-
over Memorial Day weekend with one service and such and potluck
-
food on the ground. However you want to state it
-
always was kind of adverse to the idea of food on the ground,
-
but nonetheless, mom said I could eat it.
-
So nonetheless, man, we're going to be turning to 1st Corinthians
-
chapter #11 tonight. We are still talking about the
-
the identity principle or the principle of identity.
-
Probably wrap that part of it tonight.
-
Still got some other things, principles to look at, but
-
again, just as a over overarching, just think tonight,
-
anybody that comes into this church is welcome.
-
All right. There's people all different
-
walks and stages of life come from different backgrounds.
-
Some with more what we may call volatile histories than the
-
others. But whenever Jesus came in his
-
earthly ministry, he said it's not the whole that's in need of
-
the physician. It's not the whole that's in
-
need of physician. He said he came for the sick.
-
They come to call the righteous, but sinners Amen us to
-
repentance. So as each of us are on our own
-
salvation journey and even after we receive salvation, a journey
-
of maturity, right? It's just your birth
-
certificate. We still got growth and maturity
-
that takes place. And some some areas of our
-
maturity are faster than others. All you got to go to is in the
-
real world nature. Go just to a junior high, you're
-
going to see people towering, people small, you're going to be
-
seeing people in different phases of muscular structures
-
and all the things, girls approaching things at different
-
ages and times, Amen. Through this maturity process.
-
And so the great thing for us is that God loves us at every stage
-
and he's loving us to growth and he's loving us to maturity, and
-
he's patient with us. And so tonight I want to look at
-
another identity, identity thing that again, for the distinction
-
and distinguishment of male and female.
-
First Corinthians Chapter 11. I'm just going to read a couple
1 Corinthians 11 chapter mention
-
of verses and we'll look at a few of more of them before we're
-
set and done. But just verses 14 and 15 here
-
this evening. First Corinthians 11, verses 14
-
and 15, Death, not even nature. Here we are again, Apostle Paul
-
referring back to nature. Does not even nature itself
-
teach you that if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto
-
him, but if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her.
-
For her hair is given her for a covering.
-
Her hair is given her for a covering.
-
Just tonight, want to talk about distinction that directs glory?
-
Distinction that directs glory. Hallelujah Father, I thank you
-
again God, for those that have made the effort Lord and come
-
Lord, on this Wednesday night, God, to center our lives one
-
more time about your word. God, your word is settled.
-
Your word is true. It can be depended upon.
-
It is God, a good Lord Jesus book of guidance for our life.
-
I pray, O Lord, that you have to help us tonight.
-
God, we look into this word. God, we'll praise you.
-
Thank you Lord for what you accomplished and do in the name
-
of Jesus Christ said I pray in the church, Amen, Amen.
-
Praise the Lord. I paused as I read because
-
again, the Apostle Paul is taking our attention and
-
directing it back once again to nature.
-
That's not even nature itself. Teach us.
-
And whenever he has used this, and I've told you this before,
-
but let's the repetition sometimes helps our memory and
-
for us to learn something. That Greek word for nature is
-
fusus, all right? It is meaning the original
-
inherent constitution of a thing, basically speaking about
-
its origin, its beginning. And so there are in scripture
-
that we have already looked at, there are some natural
-
distinctives between men and women.
-
There are some nature driven distinctives and another one of
-
those has to do with the hair of men and women.
-
Stephen Jay Gold, who wrote The Pandas Thumb.
-
It's a book, he said. He said baldness is apparently
-
inherited and is in a small way a sign of masculinity, since the
-
tendency does not manifest itself even though inherited,
-
unless there is more than a certain critical concentration
-
of male sex hormone in the blood.
-
As a result, women rarely go bald.
-
Men who are castrated before adolescence apparently never do
-
so again. Although baldness in, in, in, in
-
humanity is an inherited thing, what brings its manifestation to
-
pass is whether or not that individual has a male hormone of
-
masculinity in it that will bring it to pass.
-
So I think we could all, I don't think there'd probably be anyone
-
who participate that's in that upper age group, but not all men
-
are going to go bald. Or it might not be inherited,
-
but those of us who are inheriting it and have that male
-
gene, if we were all to stand up here like this tonight or maybe
-
like this and had ladies of the same or similar age up here, we
-
are by virtue of nature headed toward a determination that that
-
if you have that male gene and you're predisposed to the
-
inheritance, you're going to go bald.
-
It is a rarity for women to experience that.
-
I'm not saying it never happens, but usually if it does, there's
-
some type of imbalance or some type of illness or something.
-
There's something else that is going on inside of the human
-
body if that is taking place. But it is very much so more of a
-
normal occurrence for men than it is women.
-
That's one thing. But another thing is looking at
-
the Scripture in the Book of Revelation chapter #9 and verse
-
number 7 and 8, the Bible states these words and a description is
-
really being given of, of, of some locusts.
-
And this is not your typical locus.
-
So it is describing different aspects of this locus in order
-
to bring the full picture into view.
-
And it says, and the shapes of the locusts were like unto
-
horses. So see, it's given us some
-
descriptors here to really put all this together.
-
Prepared into battle and other All their heads were as it were
-
crowns like goat and their faces were as the faces of men.
-
That word for men right there means mankind or humanity.
-
It's just speaking about the generality of humanity.
-
Their faces were as the faces of mankind or humanity.
-
In other words, it's differentiating that this is not
-
like the the face of an insect or animal, but it's the face of
-
a human face and verse 8 it says and they had hair as the hair of
-
women and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
-
Now being that their faces were as humanity, if it were just
-
proper just to make a description of their hair and
-
wanted it, well that's like humanity too.
-
They could have just easily use the same word mankind or
-
humanity men in order to differentiate that.
-
But it didn't. It specifically got specific
-
with what part of humanity that this hair was like and said it
-
was like the hair of women. And so John the revelator makes
-
a distinguishment here in the description of their hair being
-
like the hair of women. So there must have been some
-
difference of some sort between what was man's hair and women's
-
hair for John to describe it like that.
-
And maybe we even back that truck up just a little bit more
-
for God. The Bible says that the
-
Scripture, when you read in Revelation chapter one, this is
-
the revelation of Jesus Christ that was given to John by God
-
for God to have John state it like that because here's the
-
sin. If there was no difference, it
-
would make no sense to make the statement, make no sense to make
-
the statement. In Luke chapter #7 and verse #37
-
we read of a story that many are familiar with, and this is kind
-
of diving into the story just a little bit.
-
And the Bible says and behold a woman in the city which was a
-
Sinner when she knew that Jesus sat at meat and the Pharisees
-
house brought an alabaster box of ointment.
-
Many of you are familiar. Anybody familiar?
-
Someone just help me. I want to make sure someone
-
reads their Bible out there. Amen.
-
Alabaster box of ointment and stood at his feet behind him
-
weeping and began to wash his feet with tears and did wipe
-
them with the hairs of her head and kissed his feet and anointed
-
them with with the ointment. Now we know per custom of this
-
day that when they're eating at a table, it's not as we eat,
-
pull out the chairs, sit down that they ate on on beds or
-
couches and they would recline with their head toward the table
-
and their feet away from the table.
-
I get that. But nonetheless, with these feet
-
away from the table as he is eating, here's this woman, her
-
her tears is becoming the water for washing his feet and then
-
the hairs of her head she uses for wiping his feet.
-
Even if even if that couch or bed was elevated to a certain
-
degree, Paul McGee, washing your feet with my head of hair is
-
going to be quite a I'm I'm not trying to I'm really not trying
-
to. But what I'm saying is this,
-
that there must have been some length to this woman's hair in
-
order to accomplish what the Bible says she accomplished.
-
As a matter of fact, several other just a few commentaries.
-
There are other people that come to bear on this, John Gill says,
-
Speaking of the hairs of her head, he said which were long
-
and hung loose about her shoulders.
-
It be unusual and comely for women to wear long hair.
-
Jameson Fawcett and Brown says she hastened to wipe them,
-
Speaking of the feet off with only the towel.
-
She had the long tresses of her own hair.
-
The pulpit commentary says she wiped the tear wet feet with her
-
long hair, which she evidently loosed for this lovingly
-
purpose. And so again we have revelation,
-
we have Luke. Here we go to the Song of
-
Solomon chapter #4 and verse #1 and the Song of Solomon, of
-
course, Solomon is, is adoring and there's this companionship
-
and courtship between Solomon and the Shulamite, which I've
-
told you before, which basically means Mrs. All right.
-
And so there's this courtship that's happening to their
-
wedding and after their wedding day and they ofttimes are
-
admiring one another, even even physicalities of one another,
-
they are admiring. And the Bible says the Song of
-
Solomon four and verse one. Here's Solomon admiring her and
-
says, Behold thou some ladies just say they don't talk like
-
that no more. Behold, thou art fair, my love.
-
Behold thou art fair. Thou hast dove's eyes within thy
-
locks. Thy hair is as a flock of goats
-
that appear from Mount Gilead. You tell me, Ray, the last time
-
a man said to you, your hair is like a flock of goats that
-
appeared from the Mount of Gilead.
-
But the mountain in in as the mountain of Gilead is a mountain
-
in Israel that that is beyond the Jordan.
-
And that is a place that commonly that that that
-
shepherds and people that were tending their flocks, they would
-
feed them up on the mountain slopes of Gilead where goats
-
were fed. And according to John Gill,
-
being well fed, their hair was long.
-
Speaking of the goats themselves, neat and glistering,
-
but even more so than that at a distance, a group of goats
-
leading up or even down a mountainside.
-
Who these goats we know in particular had smooth knee
-
glistering long hair. When you have them in a row
-
going up a mountain, You can almost get the picture then of
-
why he may have said your hair is like a flock of goats that
-
appear on the mountainside. Just just goats after goat head
-
to tail, head to tail, head to tail is a long line of goat hair
-
that is trailing up the mountain as almost looking like strands
-
of hair. And then in the Old Testament
-
scripture we know this that and God does this for the New
-
Testament church as well. He OFT times refers to them in
-
the female the female sex or female gender.
-
Israel's even described as that the Old Testament oftimes
-
described as as as God's wife. We see this relationship that he
-
depicts in the Old Testament prophets in Scripture and so
-
always symbolically a woman. So whenever God deals with
-
Israel at different times when she is not in good standing with
-
God, when she is not listening to the Lord or turning her back
-
on the Lord or refusing His, his commandments and His ways, God
-
brings judgment many times upon Israel.
-
And that's Israel, she being in her backslidden state.
-
And whenever she's in that state of being backslidder, that state
-
of being away from God or not in covenant with God as she should,
-
that He, he refers to her and He symbolizes her by cutting of the
-
hair or the shaving of her head. That's the way that he talks
-
about it in Scripture. And Isaiah chapter 3 and verse
Isaiah 3 chapter mention
-
24, he says basically, you know, you're away from me, you're part
-
of me, you're breaking covenant with me.
-
Basically he tells her this. He said instead of well set
-
hair, he said baldness shall be upon thee.
-
It was a emblem really of a breaking of covenant with God or
-
having being a refusal toward God.
-
He, he spoke to her in one place because of her separation from
-
him at that moment he's speaking this, he's saying cut off thy
-
hair because it was going to be a shame unto her.
-
It was going to be a note of someone that was out of step of
-
covenant, his wife, his bride, so to speak out of covenant with
-
him and God used cut hair on a woman even as a symbol then the
-
course of Israel's backslidden condition.
-
And so when Israel disobeyed God, she was told at different
-
times and other places in Michael one and verse 16, she
-
was told make thee bald and pull thee basically pull thy head or
-
trim, trim your hair, trim it because you disobey that we
-
we're just going to put a separation right here.
-
And then there were times that his blessing would be upon her
-
when she would be back in covenant with her.
-
And whenever that covenant came back or they're back in
-
relationship with one another, such as in Ezekiel 16 and 7, he
-
would speak of her in these terms and say thine hair is
-
grown, Amen. Now there is the growing of the
-
hair rather than the the shaving off or the cutting, there's the
-
growing because before this he says that you were naked and
-
bare, but now your hair is growing white.
-
There has been a change of relationship, a change of
-
covenant, Amen, with me, Amen. Also in the scripture, and this
-
is according to the Jewish Talmud, but we also have
-
scripture to support this, but in the Jewish Talmud, Talmud
-
there is an instruction that every 30 days all the priests
-
which were men were to cut their hair every 30 days.
-
And the instruction is so because otherwise their hair
-
would continue to grow and grow long.
-
And so the priests were well aware of this in Ezekiel 44 and
-
verse 20, the Bible says neither shall they shave their heads nor
-
suffer their locks to grow long. They shall only pull or trim
-
their heads. And so he said, we're going to
-
do a trim job here. It's not to be long, and you
-
don't necessarily have to shave it totally off, but you got to
-
trim it. You got to let there be a moment
-
of trimming. And so God intended the priests,
-
who in this day were males only to do what set the example for
-
the rest of the male community. Amen.
-
As a matter of fact, further investigation in the Jewish toll
-
mode, right? And why you say that?
-
Because that's like a primary source.
-
We're going way back whenever we're talking about that reveals
-
that the hairstyles of men in that day were Julian or what
-
they would call a Caesar cut, like Julius Caesar of the Roman
-
Greco day of like around the time when first Corinthians
-
would even be written. It was of a Caesar cut.
-
You look it up on your phone what a Caesar cut looks like.
-
It's just short off off the ears, off the collar type of
-
cut. And so that's the type of things
-
that matter of fact, every Roman emperor from Julius Caesar down
-
to 1 by the name of Tarjan had short hair.
-
And for that day in that culture, listen, the Jews, I
-
mean, we were a separate community of, but at that time
-
the community was under Roman rule, all right.
-
And so the emperor, it was on that day, this is government
-
cultural thing. The emperor set the pattern in
-
the style of mode of dress and appearance for those that were
-
under his, his, his rule. And so we see it very common,
-
not just in Rome, but even among the Jews.
-
Amen. Whenever we even look back, and
-
this is something that's been hard for years, and that is
-
archaeologists going back and finding artifacts or unearthing
-
artifacts that would find Jewish people and depictions of Jewish
-
people like graven on, on, on anything.
-
Number one, because the Lord made his mission clear, they
-
shouldn't have any graven images.
-
So I mean, there's even, you know, whenever he talked about
-
making an altar, a lot of times it was of a hewing stone because
-
he didn't want the Israelites to even have a temptation that
-
while hewing the stone, they would make it into any likeness
-
of anything that was going to be knelt down at.
-
And so you don't see a lot of images of graving archaeology
-
wise because of the command of the Lord.
-
However, there are a lot of depictions of like Assyrian
-
people and Philistine people and other heathen nations that you
-
see depictions of and a lot of them have long hair.
-
However, a little more recently in the past few years in order
-
in Israel, they did come across a piece of of a pottery or a
-
piece of clay of some sort that they found that they have a time
-
whenever the Israelites were enslaved by the Philistines.
-
And all of the Israelite men that are depicted in that and
-
that little fresco or what it was that they had on there had
-
very short hair, unlike the heathens that they were enslaved
-
to. Revelation chapter #1 and verse
-
14 says his. Everybody say his It's speaking
-
about Jesus Christ. It's speaking about the Son of
-
Man that's being spoken of here in Scripture.
-
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as
-
snow, and his eyes were as a flame of fire.
-
That phrase white like wool or white wool.
-
According to the Jews, white wool is the wool of a lamb just
-
born of a lamb just born, and the wool on a newborn lamb is
-
typically short and a fluffy coat that's over across the
-
skin. The description of the Son of
-
Man of Christ Jesus was that his hairs were white like wool.
-
I know what we are conditioned for because someone grabbed the
-
canvas and a palette and a brush and painted their depiction of
-
the Lord Jesus Christ a particular way.
-
But according to the Book of Revelation, that's not the way
-
that he's described. Number one said, well, Jesus was
-
a Nazarite. No, Jesus was a Nazarene.
-
He grew up most of his life in Nazarene, thus he was called
-
Jesus of Nazareth. There's a difference between
-
being the Nazarite and being the Nazareth.
-
Being of a Nazarite held some particular roles according to
-
Numbers chapter 16 that you were to follow and no contact with
Numbers 16 chapter mention
-
the dead, not to drink any wine. There were certain things of
-
covenant or things that they abided by in the vow.
-
But a Nazarene being brought up in Nazareth, that's was Jesus.
-
He was an inhabitant growing up as Nazareth and this
-
Furthermore, if Jesus did have long hair, which would have been
-
a totally at odds with with his time, then why did Judas have to
-
betray him with a kiss among all these different ones to point
-
out who He was? If all the other time was sure
-
here but He had long hair, why did He have to point Him out?
-
Because He had the appearance of any other man of his day?
-
Amen. To know who to apprehend.
-
So according to the scripture here, men are not to have long
-
hair while women are to have long hair.
-
This is just another distinguishment of the sexes.
-
How long is longwell, verses 14 and 50, when the word long is
-
used, there's a few different words that come to bear in the
-
Greek and the their root words and both of them mean let the
-
hair grow or uncut long. Then hair for a woman, it's not
-
well, it's three feet, so that's longer.
-
It's 6 feet or it's longer, it's 2 feet or it's long, it's uncut
-
that's long. The amazing thing about that
-
someone can come to the Lord and they can stop practicing cutting
-
their hair and the moment they stop their hair's long in the
-
sight of God. By definition, it's long because
-
we have different people even in this church today, hair just
-
don't grow anymore, or it only grew so long.
-
But they've never, never cut their hair.
-
Their hair's always been long according to Scripture,
-
according to these verses. And so when we look at that, the
-
verbs that are used here, the verbs that are used here in the
-
Scripture, in these particular verses and throughout First
-
Corinthians chapter #11 they imply their, their, their tenses
-
and their voices. And I ain't go get all that, but
-
that they have a present. Well, maybe OK, a present tense,
-
active voice, all these different things concerning
-
these verses is describing a condition which remains to be
-
seen expressed. All right.
-
It's the expressing of themself in this manner.
-
Paul is saying a man that continues to have short hair, so
-
thus regularly trimming that continues to have short hair.
-
Then he maintains and he respects his authority, which is
-
the Lord Jesus Christ and the presence of God, and he doesn't
-
have to worry about being shamed.
-
And then a woman that continues to have her hair uncut,
-
therefore long by that definition, then it's a glory to
-
her according to Scripture. And she maintains and, and she
-
honors her authority, which we'll look at in a little bit,
-
which is her husband in the presence of the Lord.
-
Amen. So with, with the tense of the
-
verses, it's something that isn't just a moment or a segment
-
of time. And you know, is it for two
-
weeks? No, it's something that's a
-
continuous thing that occurs and happens.
-
And so the condition of a man or a woman's hair is a continuing
-
yet incomplete action. If you could think of it like
-
that, it's a continuing yet incomplete action because the
-
man is always going to be trimming and the woman is always
-
going to be abstaining from trimming men.
-
So here in Scripture, we want to talk about, we could talk about
-
other things, and I don't have time to talk about everything.
-
That's First Corinthians 11. I've done that before, and I
-
think it took me 3 maybe times. So we don't have time for all of
-
that. I'm trying to stay in alignment
-
with the distinction aspect, OK. Because we could talk about the
-
power on the head because of the angels.
-
We could talk about if there be contentious, if there be
-
anything contentious, then we have no such.
-
We could talk about all that and we could talk about the whole
-
veil aspect. But we need to stay on track
-
here with this, this distinction thing.
-
And so with that, I'm going to start with verse #3 you say
-
you're not going to read it all. Well, verse three, wow, you
-
really took some off, but I'm not going to read them all
-
right? Verse #3 First Corinthians 11.
-
But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ,
-
and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is
-
God, head of woman, man and a man, Christ, head of Godhead of
-
Christ, God. That word head is important
-
there in Scripture. Some consider that the Greek
-
word head to mean nothing more but source, that God is the
-
source of Christ. Christ is the source of man.
-
Man is the source. If you think back to Genesis,
-
taken from the side of Eve, source almost like a river
-
source that has the head of a river right where its origin,
-
where it begins. But Paul isn't just saying that
-
a man came from Jesus, or that woman came from man, or that
-
that that Jesus came from God or was even God.
-
All of that is true, but it goes just a little deeper, a little
-
scratching the surface goes a little under that, that a source
-
has to do with an inherit authority in a person's life,
-
inherit authority in someone's life.
-
If someone has come from me, there's some appropriate
-
authority that I have and sway that I have and I like to stay
-
better like this responsibility that I have.
-
I mean, I got two people sitting right in front of me.
-
That is a result of my wife and I.
-
So to a degree we have certain sway of responsibility by virtue
-
of being the head, if you want to say that of them.
-
So yes, origin, yes, but also that that idea of of
-
responsibility of relational responsibility toward them.
-
First Corinthians 11 verse 4, Every man praying or prophesying
-
having his head. A note this word head is
-
speaking about your literal natural head.
-
Every man praying or prophesying having his head covered
-
dishonoreth his head. It switches on us.
-
Now it's talking about his spiritual head.
-
So every man having his natural head covered dishonoreth his
-
spiritual head. Who's his spiritual head?
-
Christ and verse 5 but every woman that prays for prophesieth
-
Let's let's hooked. I'm fine next work through me.
-
Amen Prophesieth with her head again literal natural head
-
uncovered, dishonoureth her head spiritual aspect.
-
So if she does this with her head uncovered, her natural
-
literal head uncovered, she's dishonouring her spiritual head,
-
which is what the man husband, the Bible says for this even all
-
as if she were shaved, she might as well just be totally shaved.
-
Let's quickly address something the matters of the head being
-
covered or uncovered. Well, it said, if you're praying
-
or prophecy, Oh well, potato, potato.
-
The book of Thessalonians tell us that we should pray without
-
ceasing. All right.
-
And so it matters in everyday life. 1st Corinthians 11 verse 6
-
The Bible says, For if the woman be not covered, let her also be
-
shorn. But if it be a shame for a woman
-
to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.
-
Verse 7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, literal
-
natural head, for as much as he is the image and glory of God.
-
But the woman is the glory of the man.
-
So if she isn't, if she isn't covered, she might as well be
-
shorn or shaved, leveled at stubble, if she'd be not
-
covered. And he says this is an action of
-
shame. He tells us in the verses that
-
we read that it's a shame. It's a shame for a woman or a
-
shame for a man to have long hair and for a woman to have it.
-
It is her glory to not have it. Then the inverse would be true.
-
It would be not glorious. It would be shame.
-
So man, look at it here in your scripture again, verse #7 man is
-
the image and glory of God. Woman is the glory of man.
-
This is what always has got me. We see long hair, short hair.
-
God sees who's getting the glory.
-
Just wait a moment. We see long short, God sees
-
who's getting the glory. Man, don't cover your natural
-
head because to do so you are the image and the glory of God.
-
When you remain trimmed quote UN quote uncovered, the glory of
-
God is showcased woman whenever you remain covered, which are
-
beginning Scripture there verse #15 her hair's given her for a
-
covering. When you remain covered, then
-
you're concealing the woman is the glory of man.
-
You're concealing man's glory. So when the woman has her long
-
hair and the man has her short hair, man's glory is covered up,
-
but God's glory is visible. It's not just, it's not just
-
about long and short. The difference of the sexes
-
brings us back to Genesis of who gets the glory.
-
Everything that Christ did in the beginning, the planetary
-
systems, the animals, the grass, the creation of mankind, the
-
possibility of reproduction. What was that?
-
To bring glory to each of those individual things?
-
No, it was to do as we should do.
-
Scratch our head and say there's a designer here somewhere.
-
It's to point the fingers back to a sovereign God.
-
He gets. He deserves all the glory, all
-
the honor and all the praise. But when we tamper with the
-
origin from the beginning, we're messing up who gets the glory.
-
Amen. So I want to, I want God,
-
through the way that we live our lives, bring honor and glory to
-
the Lord of anything. Bring it to the Lord, not to
-
yourself, not to an institution. Give it back to where it came
-
from. Give it back to the Lord.
-
And that's the case in all these things, Fred, we talked about
-
ideas to begin with, discerning, you know, good ideas from bad
-
ideas or God inspired that man. Whenever you get that right,
-
that gives glory to God, that that's where we talk about, you
-
know, let your light so shine before men in Matthew 5 that
-
they may see your good works, yes, but what they glorify your
-
Father, which is in heaven. I know you were a participant in
-
the way, but the glory goes to God.
-
It doesn't go to me. It doesn't go to you when it's
-
all properly ordered and organized, it goes to where it
-
should go. It goes to God.
-
So I want not, not to cover her natural head so that she doesn't
-
dishonor her spiritual head. And he should not, he should
-
not, he should not cover his natural head so he doesn't
-
dishonor his spiritual head. I want to give honor.
-
I want to give honor. And so the prescription through
-
Scripture again, uncovering the glory of God and we're going to
-
cover up the glory of men, so to speak.
-
And this, this, this distinguishment in a sense, long
-
hair, short hair covered, uncovered God's glory revealed
-
God's glory concealed. In doing so, God gets ray all
-
the glory. I don't want it to be blurred.
-
I don't want it to be confused because we talked several weeks
-
here over the past several weeks concerning identity, and the
-
adversary to identity is confusion.
-
I, the adversary to identity is confusion.
-
Mix it, muddle it. Let it be so loosely defined it
-
could pass either or confuse it. What I want to do tonight, I'm
-
coming to a close. I'm not even holding you that
-
long. What I want to do tonight is as
-
a man. I want to commit as a man to
-
reflecting the image and the glory of God openly.
-
It's not closet Christianity for the apostles, he said.
-
This thing was not done in a corner somewhere.
-
Was it done in a corner somewhere?
-
You're talking about men that were willing to unabashedly
-
pronounce the name of Christ, even pulled off to prison, told
-
not to do it again, go right out to the street and do it again.
-
That gave their life's blood as martyrs.
-
Now, if you don't believe they believed in it, we're all just
-
eating baloney here tonight because they gave their life's
-
blood. They believe it so adamantly.
-
I saw something done in the corner, mom.
-
Now that's something they said I unashamedly and we'll get to
-
this next week. But folks, it leads us into the
-
next principle, right? The principle of love because
-
we, we, we do some of the things we do.
-
We think we're really doing it because we love him, but we're
-
really doing it because he first loved us.
-
And I'm overwhelmed. I'm overwhelmed that he would
-
predispose love to me, what I'm doing to.
-
I'm just reacting. I'm reacting to love.
-
I know it looks like me loving him, but I'm really just
-
reacting to this super abundance of love.
-
Oh God, man, I feel the Holy Ghost because I there's some
-
things you all are in relationships.
-
There's some things you do in relationships.
-
And when I ask why, why I love her.
-
But when it really comes down, you have just been loved so much
-
by that individual. It's just a response for you.
-
It's just a response. I don't need to get in the next
-
week. Get me up here.
-
Teary mess here, though not why do you do what you do?
-
It's what did he do? I can't believe.
-
I can't believe you do that. I can't believe they make you do
-
that. Nobody's making me do anything.
-
Listen, my name is Paul McGee. I decide when I want to get up
-
in the morning, when I'm going to take a shower, when I'm going
-
to eat my meal. I decide what time I'm going to
-
come over here to the church. I'm a grown adult.
-
I decide what I decide who I'm going to work for.
-
Cindy. At the end of the day, it's not
-
about me. It's about him.
-
And I want my life to point the glory in the proper direction
-
because Paul Mcgee's a slob. Paul Mcgee's a no good low down
-
Sinner. Had it not been for the grace of
-
God, I wouldn't have a chance. I don't have nothing to stand up
-
here on my own. I can't make my own way and
-
chart my own path. So if anybody's going to have a
-
testimony about what Paul Mcgee's done, they're lying.
-
The moment they start speaking, we better be testifying about
-
what He has done. Look what the Lord has to He
-
healed my body. He changed my mind.
-
He saved me just in time. Oh yeah, My shield vocoda, my
-
tie on my you'll stand with me tonight.
-
God, I love you. Can we just raise our hands?
-
Man? I feel the Spirit of the Lord
-
right now. God, you deserve it all.
-
God, you deserve it all. You deserve it all.
-
You deserve it all. You deserve it all.
-
It's yours, God. It's yours, God, It's yours,
-
God, The glory, the honor, the majesty, Lord, it all belongs to
-
you, Jesus. It all belongs to you, Jesus.
-
It all belongs to you, Jesus. I love you, O Lord.
-
I love you, O Lord, I love you O.
-
Lord God is all things. Lord, to you, through you.
-
Lord Jesus, from you. Thank you, Jesus.
-
Thank you, Jesus, thank you. Jesus, Hallelujah.
-
Hallelujah. Maybe when's the last time just
-
I mean, do you ever just have moments in prayer or any other
-
time that you just kind of set there every once in a while and
-
just in All in all of your God, whether it be just little
-
sentences like in Genesis, where kind of like a footnote it says
-
and he made the stars also. And we can't even number him.
-
But it's kind of like if I don't he did that or then
-
understanding what he's done for you personally, Do you ever just
-
step back? Why me?
-
Why then? God, I love you, man.
-
He's a good God. You can shake hands and be
-
friendly, hug one another's neck.
-
Hannah, just all. He's been good to me, Brother
-
Reese been good to me. When I look back over my life
-
and I think things over, I can truly say I've been blessed.
-
Lori, I'm serious folks. You, you all can.
-
I'm just going to sit up here and just be a blurry mess, OK?
-
Amen. I hope you have a great week.
-
Remember our things for Sunday Spring conferences this Friday
-
and Saturday in Indianapolis at where the Canons Church.
-
If anybody desires to go, I'll kind of put this out here,
-
Brother Ethan. Brother Ethan was asking if
-
anybody was going to go up Friday and come back home
-
Friday. I told him I didn't know.
-
I told him he could pay something and maybe the connect
-
group linked and maybe find out. So if that happens to be you,
-
talk to Brother Ethan. I think he would like to ride
-
with you or maybe have a group effort.
-
So just kind of putting that out there.
-
God bless you tonight in Jesus name, Amen.
-
Thank you for your attention, your diligence tonight, Amen.
-
God bless you.
