Thank you, Lord, for your sweet spirit.
-
My God is a gentleman, ladies and gentlemen, my God is a
-
gentleman. He handles all things well,
-
Amen. And we should love and thank him
-
for that, Amen. You are not in the hands of
-
another man or humanity. You're in the hands of a living
-
God, Amen, That spun all these things into creation, Amen.
-
We honor him today, Amen. It's good to see each one of you
-
in the House of the Lord this morning.
-
So glad that you are here and come to be a part of the service
-
today, and we're thankful. I was talking to Scott a little
-
bit before service, and he really thinks that there needs
-
to be an auditing committee over all of the numbers of the
-
contest about the outcome. So I don't know if we're going
-
to give any ear to this concern. The meal has already been
-
purchased and ate or eaten so nonetheless, but we're glad to
-
have them with us again. Amen.
-
This morning in the House of the Lord in each one of you.
-
You're smiling faces today. So glad of it.
-
Now, I'm just going to give just a little warning today and that
-
is this. I'm wearing a light grey suit
-
and sometimes I have a tendency of rather than perspiring,
-
sweating, and so it may be dark grey by the time I finish this
-
morning. My wife really had banned me
-
several years ago, Sister Louis, from wearing light grey suits
-
whenever I preach. But here's the scenario folks.
-
We went to Spring conference this weekend.
-
My wife and I left about 8:00 Friday morning.
-
I had meetings and stuff to be in starting at 12 and we went to
-
meetings. I was in meetings all day, kind
-
of with what I would wear on a Wednesday night, and then went
-
to the hotel, unloaded our vehicle, mind you, put
-
everything into the hotel room, laid on the bed just for a
-
little bit to, you know, collect thoughts and just maybe breathe.
-
And got up to get ready for church.
-
And I couldn't find one stitch of the clothing that I had
-
thought I had brought. All of my hang up clothes were
-
still hanging in my restroom nice and neat.
-
So we were in a, a, a, just a bizarre thing of trying to find
-
me something to wear. So luckily I did wear something
-
that, you know, like I would wear on Wednesday.
-
So we went to JC folks, I'm not paying $300.00 for a sports
-
jacket. It's just not happening.
-
And so I did get a $50 tie with my wife's $10 birthday money
-
from JC Penney. I threw that old pup on there
-
and went to church. Goodwill, you know, I thought,
-
man, if we could just find the Goodwill, I, we, we might be in
-
business. And so I got up early the next
-
morning, again, another service. I didn't have another suit.
-
I went to Walmarts, went to Walmart, shopped around, got
-
myself some pants and a shirt and used the same jacket that I
-
did the night before. I told the people was on that
-
board. I was ready to go home and
-
change jackets. So I'm just glad to be at this
-
is what I was going to wear this weekend.
-
So here I am. You all got the appreciation of
-
it, and I'm just glad that you could participate in this
-
madness. Amen.
-
That my life is called my life. Daniel chapter #4 today, if you
-
understand with me, turn to Daniel chapter #4.
-
So even if I do sweat, folks, this is the reason I'm going to
-
wear this suit. I'm telling you, I'm going to
-
wear this. Wear this suit.
-
Daniel chapter #4 I am going to be skipping around just a little
-
bit this morning in this chapter of Daniel.
-
So if you can just follow my lead here a little bit today.
-
I, I wish we would afford us the time to read the whole chapter,
-
but we, we're not going to do that.
-
But I want to give you a, a scope of the chapter here and
-
what this really is. Starting verse #4
-
Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon is really recounting
-
something in this moment. He's recounting what he looks
-
back on in retrospect and calls one of the signs and the wonders
-
of God in his life, one of the signs and the wonders of God in
-
his life. And he says in verse #4 he says,
-
I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in mine house and flourishing in
-
my palace. I saw a dream which made me
-
afraid, and the thoughts of mine, the thoughts upon my bed
-
and the vision of my head troubled me.
-
He had some thoughts that troubled him and made him
-
afraid. Verse 6.
-
Therefore made IA decree to bring in all the wise men of
-
Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the
-
interpretation of the dream. Then came in the magicians, the
-
astrologers, the child Deans, and the soothsayers, and I told
-
them the dream before them, but they did not make known unto me
-
the interpretation thereof. In other words, he has he has
-
expressed to them the thoughts that had troubled him to these
-
others that were. Quote.
-
UN quote professionals, he says. But at the last Daniel came in
-
before me, whose name was Belchazzar, according to the
-
name of my God, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods.
-
And before him I told the dream, saying, O Beltazzar, master of
-
the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods
-
is in the and no trouble if thee, he said, I know this is
-
trouble me. But typically nothing troubles
-
you. Tell me the visions of my dream
-
that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof, skipping
-
now all the way to verse #19 if you will.
-
So there is the dream that is given that the thoughts of
-
Nebuchadnezzar's mind that's given unto Daniel.
-
Verse 19 follows up and says, Then Daniel, whose name was
-
Beltesar, was stoned or astonished for one hour, and his
-
thoughts troubled him. The king spake and said, Until
-
Belshazzar let not the dream nor the interpretation there of
-
trouble. The Belshazzar answered and
-
said, My Lord, the dream be to them that hate thee in the
-
interpretation thereof to thine enemies, skipping down to verse
-
#27 And wherefore, O King, let my counsel, this is Daniel
-
speaking, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break
-
off thy sins of thy righteousness and thy iniquities
-
by showing mercy to the poor. And if it be a a lengthening,
-
let it be a lengthening of thy tranquility.
-
He says, Let's do some things, that there can be some peace
-
brought to this matter and to the thoughts of your mind.
-
Verse 28 says, And all this came though everything of the dream,
-
everything of the thoughts that he had been entertaining.
-
All this, it came upon King Nebuchadnezzar skipping down to
-
verse #34 I know I'm doing a lot of skipping here.
-
Verse 34. And at the end of the days,
-
after these things that have been the thoughts of
-
Nebuchadnezzar played out in his life, at the end of the days, I,
-
Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine
-
understanding returned unto me. And I bless the Most High and I
-
praise and honor to him that live forever, whose dominion is
-
an everlasting dominion and His Kingdom, Kingdom is from
-
generation to generation. What happened?
-
The Bible says that Nebuchadnezzar went to a state
-
where he almost, not almost, but took on almost, not almost.
-
He took on the likeness and the mindset of of a beast of the
-
field. This, this is even today, this
-
it can be a real diagnosis in the real world, a real diagnosis
-
of a person that would take on animal traits because of their
-
mind being so tormented with thoughts or a direction of
-
thoughts. But at the end of the days,
-
Amen. There came some clarity to all
-
of this with the help of the Holy Ghost.
-
And folks, I think it's no mistake how the services went
-
with the help of the Holy Ghost. Today I want to minister this
-
the healing of a mind, the healing of a mind today can we
-
ask the Lord to help us in the next little bit?
-
Father, I love you today Lord, and I trust you.
-
Lord, I trust you. My confidence, Lord, is squarely
-
upon you this morning. I pray, O Lord, God, I know
-
Lord, that you have set Lord a stage here.
-
You have set Lord a tempo. Lord God, in this room, God,
-
that none could do it any better but you.
-
I pray, O Lord, today God, let ministry Lord happen.
-
God in this building this morning.
-
I pray, O Lord Jesus, God, every heart, every mind, God, let
-
there be a compelling of your spirit through and in Lord the
-
lives that sit God upon these pews today, God, that they would
-
be ministered to by the Holy Ghost in the lovely name of
-
Jesus Christ that I pray Hallelujah and Amen of the
-
church say Amen, Amen. You may be seated this morning
-
in Jesus name. There is something over the past
-
several years to put a time frame on it.
-
I don't know for sure. I would just say perhaps the
-
last decade that the whole concept of middle mental health
-
has come very, very sharp into focus over the years, perhaps
-
more than it's ever been. It's not as though it's never
-
existed. It's always existed mental
-
health or even mental difficulties and problems that
-
we even have as humans from day-to-day with the thoughts of
-
our mind. It has always been.
-
There's always been challenges. It's always existed, but in the
-
past decade or so, Brother Reese, they, they've been
-
brought out of these, these type of issues and difficulties and
-
challenges have been brought out of the recesses and, and the
-
shadows, if you will, of our world into the light.
-
And so there's been a greater concentration, Sister Sam, of
-
course, I believe if you live in this world, you know, there's
-
been a greater concentration, concentration on some of these
-
things. And so long ago, years ago,
-
challenges like depression and self harm and suicidal thoughts,
-
for that matter, were, were the suffering of what you might call
-
some silent victims, people that in, in the, the recesses of
-
their, their home and family. They suffered from some of these
-
things because a society in the world overall, they were taboo
-
subjects. It's not what you would talk
-
about or speak about or bring to the surface.
-
And even furthermore, there were many professionals in in that
-
day years ago that didn't really know quite how to approach some
-
of these things or how to best manage them or treat them or
-
relieve some of the tendencies that can be found from them.
-
And so over the years, society, just society really, and those
-
that are in these types of fields have.
-
Have come a long. Way to to help put in measures
-
to help and manage and to accommodate and even advocate,
-
if you will. For those that have been
-
marginalized at different times, society has marginalized with
-
these type of issues, you're just going to have to walk with
-
me just a little bit today. But the fact is that although we
-
can manage it better and there are are those that have
-
tendencies we can advocate for them, it does not erase the fact
-
that these things still exist in our world today, still exist in
-
homes and families and communities, maybe even some of
-
your own lives that are setting among me this morning.
-
These are real. They're still people that are
-
suffering with bouts of depression that have totally
-
just just just crippled the way that they have normally done
-
life and the way that they have have functioned before their
-
normal lifestyle was just totally upheaved by depression
-
that has entered their life. They they wear, if I could say
-
in the symbolic sense, they, they, they have worn the sheets
-
out on their bread from tossing back and forth and tugging on
-
them just to turn over. And and some of them they have
-
put, you know, darkening blinds in their bedroom and foil up on
-
their windows that might be radiant by by the sunlight, But
-
they're just trying to black everything out, black out the
-
day seal in the darkness of their room.
-
And in reality, the darkness of the room is just smearing the
-
darkness of their mind, the dark darkness of what's taking place
-
inside of their mind. They're, they're not welcoming a
-
new day. They, they, they're not
-
welcoming the day that has fresh observations and fresh
-
obligations and and potential. They're not welcoming the day
-
that has any type of burgeoning hope in it.
-
They're yearning in a real degree just for a eternal night
-
where they don't have to interact with anyone.
-
They don't have to ask any questions.
-
They don't have to give any responses, Only thing that they
-
have to answer therefore is themselves and the self
-
defeating thoughts of their mind.
-
They, they may even skip some meals and their hygiene might
-
become secondary and their responsibilities that they have
-
in their life, they become very optional because they're just
-
feeling one emotion, or at least one group of emotions of despair
-
and hopelessness and self pity. And, and then you have the, the
-
self harm participant whose life is just spiraling out of
-
control. Everything in their life seems
-
to be out of control and they can't reign.
-
It feels like under their own duress or power.
-
They can't reign in any parts of those aspects of their lives.
-
They even the circle of other people's lives around them.
-
They, they don't have no control over these things.
-
And so their life has been so, so riddled with suffering and
-
with pain on every level that that it's just hard for them
-
just even to self regulate to even do that for themselves.
-
It's just totally absurd. It's, it's beyond their minds
-
understanding yet in the privacy of their bedroom and in the
-
privacy of their bathroom, when the world all around them has
-
come to a standstill, they'll, they'll find that sharp blade or
-
that razor or that knife and, and they'll, they'll start
-
whatever implementation they can find.
-
They'll their hand then. And what's in their hand will
-
become a vice, and they'll begin to make incisions on their body
-
as a cutter because that's something they can control.
-
Everything in their world's out of control, but they can control
-
that. They can control how deep they
-
go, and they can control how long of a stride they make
-
across their flesh might be hidden by everybody else.
-
I can't control what's happening to me and I, I can't control the
-
circumstance, but I can control the incision that I'm making on
-
my body. I, I can't control that sphere
-
in my life, but I can control this and they can control all
-
the things about it. And you say, well, Pastor McGee,
-
there's pain. Yeah, there's pain, but it's
-
Lisa pain that they're in control of.
-
Everybody doing okay. It's a pain that they're in
-
control of, and perhaps it's the only real feeling that they felt
-
like they felt in a long time because they've been bombarded
-
by all types of feelings of anger and anxiety and
-
frustration and the bombarded and the OverDrive of emotions.
-
They thought, I'm just numbed all this.
-
I want to know that there's something real here.
-
Then the voices of no one would miss me if I were gone.
-
They'd be better off if I were not around.
-
I'm only a hindrance to them. If I can't stop what's happening
-
to me, I'll just stop me. No one cares about me.
-
Ambushment of thoughts, ambushment of lies become a
-
steady diet, turns in then into an appetite.
-
Someone's caught by the vice of suicide, Suicide.
-
Listen, ladies and gentlemen, suicide's not just about death.
-
Suicide's about trying to escape.
-
Suicide's about trying to escape.
-
They believe they're powerless to change anything in their
-
life. So they exercise the power that
-
they have over their life. And it may take different forms,
-
but whatever it may be, self harm, suicide, depression or
-
other thoughts, maybe even not quite as severe as those, all of
-
it is an interplay that takes place inside of our minds.
-
All of it is an interplay that takes place with thoughts and
-
choices and conversations all played out in our minds.
-
And the fact of the matter is, is when we find ourself in some
-
of these places, we say to ourselves that we know how the
-
future is going to go. And the reason why we say we
-
know is because we've already played out all the details in
-
our mind. Whether true or whether false,
-
we've played out the details in our mind.
-
And so if we're convinced in our mind, we are convinced everybody
-
did OK. The Bible says in our Scripture
-
texts that Nebuchadnezzar was troubled.
-
It goes to the degree that says that he was afraid and he was
-
troubled and afraid by the thoughts of his own mind while
-
he was lying there upon his bend.
-
These are thoughts that captivated his every waking
-
hour. He's captivated by these
-
thoughts. It's not as though they came
-
just one time and then died out. But what came only one time then
-
is replayed. You know how it goes.
-
It's replayed over and over and over in your mind when you're
-
alone, when you're lying still, when your eyes are closed, when
-
you're doing dishes with a dead stare out the window, The
-
thoughts come over and over again in your mind.
-
It's just like a real hey man that's on repeat, that's playing
-
over in Nebuchadnezzar's mind. And the fact of the matter is
-
this, the very things that he constantly thought of and
-
pondered upon seemingly became a self fulfilling prophecy for
-
him. Because nothing changed.
-
Nothing interrupted that mindset.
-
The Bible says and just put me today, but the Bible says he
-
sought out some help. He sought out some people of his
-
Kingdom that might have some insight, could help him with his
-
thoughts, help him with what was going on in his mind.
-
He sought out every professional that he knew to help him manage
-
and navigate through these troubling minefield that he was
-
a part of. Magicians and astrologers and
-
zoo Sayers and the list goes on. Because what he's wanting them
-
to do is interpret the thoughts of my mind.
-
Makes sense give me some sense and meaning of the thoughts of
-
my mind. But the Bible says although
-
these were people, the Kingdom that were known for these type
-
of things that none of them could aptly give unto
-
Nebuchadnezzar what he was looking for.
-
Amen. Since concerning the thoughts of
-
his mind. And then the Bible says at last
-
there's a man by the name of Daniel.
-
He may he's among that same classification, but he is is at
-
a level just a little different than the others because the
-
Bible says not only is he a professional, if you will, among
-
that Kingdom, but he also holds ranks with God.
-
And so Daniel takes the task for the friend of trying to make
-
sense of the mind. He hears the same story that the
-
other professionals heard. He hears the same thoughts, the
-
same troubling thoughts that Nebuchadnezzar had relate to
-
them. He he relays also unto Daniel.
-
And though Nebuchadnezzar didn't quite correctly identify the
-
difference that was between Daniel and the others,
-
Nebuchadnezzar seeing Daniel, he even named him A.
-
Different name after one of their gods GO little GODS.
-
And he said, well, surely the spirit of the holy gods, little
-
GODS, Amen is with Daniel. He didn't quite recognize yet at
-
this moment that it wasn't just another God of his land and
-
country that was with Daniel, but it was the God, the only
-
holy God. He, he calls Daniel the master
-
of magicians. He names him after his God, but
-
he's not quite put a real finger upon what the difference is
-
about Daniel. And he's convinced.
-
He told Daniel. Daniel, I know there's nothing
-
secret that troubles you. There's been a lot of things
-
come down the pipe to your door, and I know there's nothing
-
secret that that troubles you. Yet in our reading today, after
-
Daniel heard every thought of Nebuchadnezzar's mind, the Bible
-
says that Daniel was astonished and that he was troubled in his
-
thoughts. I don't know if Daniel's
-
countenance changed after hearing all the thoughts of his
-
mind, of what went on and what reached his ears.
-
But supposedly a man who's not normally troubled is troubled.
-
So what we have here, we have a troubled man who has troubling
-
thoughts, Amen. And he's telling a person that
-
usually don't get troubled, but after it's said and done, he's
-
troubled someone say Amen. Now, Daniel does very well.
-
He handles this quite delicately because he realizes the
-
seriousness of the matter and the thoughts of this man's mind.
-
Daniel doesn't shrug it off. Daniel doesn't say, well, let's
-
make an appointment for next Tuesday.
-
No, he doesn't tell the king, Take two Tylenol, go to bed and
-
tell me how things are in the morning.
-
No, quite frankly, this is what Daniel says.
-
I'm getting there, folks. Daniel's telling him he says
-
King, he said, and this is interpretation, distribution.
-
This is me paraphrasing King, I wish this wasn't happening to
-
you. I wish this is what was
-
happening to your enemies. I wish this wasn't happening to
-
you. I wish these destructive
-
thoughts that you're having were against those that were opposing
-
you, Amen. And not against you.
-
And so here's Daniel operating almost like a excellent
-
therapist here. He begins to try to make sense
-
of all the thoughts of the King's mind.
-
He begins to draw in correlations, Amen, that the
-
king has has entertained, of the thoughts that the king has
-
entertained in his mind. And so he starts to give some
-
meaning to all of the clutter, give meaning to all the
-
disjointed thoughts and ideas of his mind.
-
And here's the marvel. Yes, he is a man that's with
-
God. Yes, he is a man that has the
-
spirit of God. And Daniel could explain it all.
-
He'd explained to him the things that he's seen in that vision.
-
That's what that correlates to. That's what that's going to be.
-
That's that's how this is going to play out if nothing changes.
-
Here's the thing. Daniel could explain it all, but
-
he could not heal it. He could not heal it.
-
Daniel's counsel to him was basically this.
-
These thoughts, Nebuchadnezzar, that you're having in your mind,
-
they will become a self fulfilling prophecy if things
-
don't change. If not, patterns don't change.
-
If life patterns don't change, they will be a self fulfilling
-
prophecy. But Nebuchadnezzar, if we could
-
somehow get the pattern of the thoughts healed, if we could
-
somehow get the process of the patterns of your life healed,
-
you can't escape the doom that you're thinking in your mind.
-
You can, oh Jesus, someone say Jesus and I need the Holy Ghost
-
today because I am not ignorant today.
-
We're living in a world that is totally overtaken by the
-
thoughts of their mind. If there's ever a battle in our
-
world, it's not on soil. It's on Gray matter of minds of
-
those laws and those saved in the church and out of the
-
church. And many of you, maybe some of
-
you. And listen, my wife and I, if
-
you know us, you know this. We always say 2 prong approach.
-
We say practical. Get you some real physical help,
-
teach you some real mental health.
-
But there's also the spiritual as well.
-
But what I'm saying today, you may have run yourself ragged and
-
you're still dealing with thoughts, and you can come to us
-
and I might be able to explain part of it.
-
But Paul McGee can't heal you. Don McGee can't heal you.
-
The first Apostolic Church can't somebody you know, right?
-
The word of Scripture is this in verse #28 that Nebuchadnezzar's
-
thoughts became his trajectory. The Bible says all this came
-
upon the king. Everything that Daniel said
-
would happen if it didn't alter a change came upon the king.
-
You can read of this in verse #16 and let me read it.
-
I don't know if I had that up there, Brother Mason.
-
But in what Daniel was saying, the Bible says this.
-
Let his heart Speaking of Nebuchadnezzar and the word
-
heart there in the Old Testament, the same Hebrew word
-
that's translated heart can also be translated mine.
-
OK, so let his harder, if I may interject his mind, let his mind
-
be changed from a man's and let a beast mind be given to him and
-
let 7 times Passover him. In other words, there was
-
something that was going to happen to Nebuchadnezzar because
-
of these negative these fearful thoughts of his mind.
-
His mind was going to turn toward that of the beast of the
-
field and according to scripture, 7 times are going to
-
pass over him. Most would render that as those
-
seven years was going to pass over his his life and he was
-
going to have a mental capacity where he believed himself to be
-
an animal. You can read in Scripture that
-
he would like an ox eat grass and and that's the the the the
-
the the the the hair up on this body be as the feathers as a
-
eagle and his talons his his nails would grow like the talons
-
of a bird Amen thinking he was all these things all because of
-
the thoughts of his mind can let me preach to you today
-
Nebuchadnezzar in those seven times, whether it's seven years
-
or 7 something. Nonetheless, the period of time
-
that went over his life when he was totally deranged and hurt in
-
his mind, he. Never dreamt in his lifetime
-
that he would do what he did. In those seven years.
-
There were events. There were occasions in those
-
seven years that he missed. They carried on without
-
Nebuchadnezzar. He acted in such a way in the.
-
In those years, that wasn't like the actions of a king.
-
His mind, his compromising thoughts, he then led him
-
somewhere, a compromised place, a worry place.
-
The mind of a beast had materialized into the life of a
-
beast. All because of the thought
-
processes of what started as the thought processes of a mind.
-
Everybody OK, but when all these practical measures failed, the
-
professionals of the Kingdom, even Daniel, he's with God, he
-
can explain it, but he can't heal it.
-
And all these measures failed. And it seemed like for
-
Nebuchadnezzar they only maybe help move hope forward just a
-
little bit. Daniel's explanation only
-
soothed just a little bit. Bible says that Nebuchadnezzar
-
in the middle of the madness of the thoughts of his mind and
-
that which came upon him. The Bible says that in the
-
middle of those seven years. Verse 34 says he lifted up his
-
eyes to heaven and when he looked up his mind his
-
understanding. Came back to him, ladies and
-
gentlemen here, pastor today. That's just not a poetic way of
-
saying he lifted up his head. That is a scriptural way of
-
saying he lifted up his eyes to heaven.
-
That's a scriptural way of saying that Nebuchadnezzar
-
looked unto the Lord and that he prayed unto the Lord.
-
And this man that is body and soul and spirit tapped into
-
something that was beyond this world, tapped into something
-
beyond his Babylonian Kingdom, tapped into something beyond the
-
professionals, tapped into something.
-
The Bible says that his understanding returned.
-
Another place of a translation says his sanity returned.
-
Another one says that he could think normal again.
-
Another one says his mind was healed after seven years the
-
moment he lifted his eyes. No, please understand today, I
-
don't know what you walk through those double doors with this
-
morning. I don't know the links that you
-
went to to try to get a Peace of Mind.
-
And I understanding that is captivated by peace and
-
tranquility. But I'm asking you on this
-
Sunday morning, if you could just get the strength from
-
looking down to looking up and open your mouth and open.
-
My God is a healer even of the mind someone.
-
Hear me today, I'll tell you what the thoughts of your mind
-
do as it did for Nebuchadnezzar, those pervasive thoughts of his
-
mind kept him captivated, kept him isolated.
-
Amen from society, from his family, from those that he would
-
use to rub shoulders with Amen. It kept him isolated to
-
quarantine away from all those as everything that his mind just
-
kept playing over and playing out in his life.
-
But in a moment, what had been going on for seven years
-
vanished in a. Moment because a man lifted up
-
his hand. No therapy session.
-
What's going on in the field? There was no palace around him.
-
He had no dignity left but one look.
-
Change what 7 years could not change.
-
It's my admonition, Brother Heath.
-
Yes, let's be practical, but let's also be prayerful.
-
Let Daniel, the holy man of God, let him bring some explanation
-
perhaps to the thoughts, bring some meaning to your madness.
-
That's great. What a great holy man of God
-
that he is. But listen, and I can speak that
-
there are some holy men of God that can be shaken to the core.
-
By the merciless dilemmas of just this every day.
-
Life. Daniel was troubled.
-
Look here, the king was afraid and troubled by the thoughts.
-
A man who the king normally thought didn't get troubled
-
became troubled. But when Nebuchadnezzar went to
-
God, God wasn't troubled. He's troubled.
-
Daniel's troubled, but God was in troubled.
-
Nebuchadnezzar is afraid. Daniel's astonished, but God
-
says that's nothing. Am I?
-
Doing all right. And it was years ago, Scott,
-
probably 20 plus years ago as an evangelist.
-
Thinner than, faster than, not any better looking.
-
About 20 years ago, I remember I preaching A sermon called It's
-
No Trouble. It's No Trouble based upon the
-
story in the Gospels for the lady that had the issue of blood
-
for 12 years and then also the young daughter of a synagogue
-
leader who also was 12 years old and dying.
-
Always been, always been amazed by this particular story in the
-
intersection of them, because the woman who's been suffering
-
for 12 years, she's been suffering for the same number of
-
years that this girl has been alive and they both need
-
intervention from the Lord. The Bible says the story begins
-
firstly because the synagogue ruler has come and found Jesus
-
to take him to where his dying daughter is.
-
He wants to take him to his dying daughter with the chance
-
that he would speak something, say something, put his hand up
-
on her, and life would come back into her.
-
The Bible portrays that as the master is going with the
-
synagogue ruler whose daughter is dying.
-
As they're on their way, there's a lot of people thrown in Jesus,
-
one to touch Jesus because he's Jesus.
-
His reputation has preceded him concerning what can happen when
-
you have an audience with the Savior and the Bible says as
-
he's going by, there's this woman with the issue of blood
-
seems to be incurable. Hey, man, she's thinking in
-
herself that I can just but touch the hem of his garment.
-
I'll be made whole. This isn't my point right here,
-
but it's good to throw it in. This woman who has this
-
condition has went to a lot of professionals and the Bible says
-
she just rather grew worse. They could do nothing about her
-
condition. They could do nothing to help
-
her. We don't fault this woman for
-
that. We don't fault this woman that
-
she grew worse. Some things turned around
-
through practical measures, some things turned around through
-
practical measures and prayerful measures.
-
But evidently everything that she tried and was not working,
-
the Bible says she could not be healed.
-
And Luke, she could not be healed by any of them.
-
Now again, I realized this was a legitimate physical issue, but
-
you cannot convince me I've rubbed shoulders with enough
-
people that physical, legitimate physical issues.
-
You cannot tell me that after 12 years of dealing with this
-
affliction that this woman wasn't attacked and weary in her
-
mind. Again, that's not my point.
-
The Bible says she touched Jesus.
-
She was made whole. And while he yet spake with this
-
women, you look at it and look at it.
-
While he yet spake with this women, there comes some servants
-
of the ruler of the synagogue, God that had got Jesus walking
-
with Jesus to take him back to his daughter.
-
Here comes some rulers of where he lives.
-
And they tell him, Sir, it's went from bad to worse
-
concerning your daughter. It's went from hopeful to
-
hopeless concerning your daughter.
-
Your dying daughter is now dead. Someone say glory.
-
They may have even interjected. This is not in the Bible, but I
-
could see them talking to that synagogue ruler.
-
Sir, I know you've made this journey and I know you've made
-
this trip to find Jesus and summon him to come back to you
-
where this dilemma was. But this thing has turned
-
hopeless. And their words to him was don't
-
trouble the Master. But ladies and gentlemen, this
-
is not the holy little GODS, gods that we're dealing with
-
here. This isn't even a man that's
-
devout to God that we're dealing with here.
-
We're dealing with God manifest in the flesh.
-
And when Jesus overheard that conversation, he said, and if
-
you allow me a little leniency here, when he overheard that
-
conversation, he basically responded to them, if I can like
-
this, listen, what troubles you? Don't trouble me.
-
You've run your hand on a stormy sea and I've slept in the boat
-
and walked on the water. It's no.
-
Because we get in our mind, we get to choose or not choose what
-
we trouble God with based upon whether or not He can.
-
You can trouble him as long as she's dying, but when she dies,
-
don't trouble the master. God's not sitting there on his
-
daily To Do List and saying impossibility scratch next.
-
We're the ones sitting down saying, oh, dead now,
-
impossible. Financial woe, impossible, new
-
diagnosis as terminal, impossible.
-
And God says, don't you stop. You think you're troubling me?
-
It's no trouble to me, honey. This is the reason why I am.
-
This is the reason why I came. I'm a healer of the mind.
-
I'm a healer of the body. I'm a healer of the spirit.
-
I know. Can I admire somebody today?
-
You need to take your droopy head and your slouch shoulders
-
and you need to lift them and square them back and look to
-
heaven. I know it feels bad.
-
I know there's thoughts in your mind, but God can heal your
-
mind. Listen, Patrick McGee, today
-
it's not even in. Listen to me folks, You've been
-
through sundry relationships. Your answer is not a new
-
relationship. Colossians says we are complete
-
in him Holly. We've mistakenly sometimes
-
sought out people to complete U.S. jobs to complete us, more
-
possessions to complete us. Honey, you're digging and
-
looking for a bottom you'll never find.
-
As long as you look to those things.
-
You need to let your eyes and look to Jesus.
-
You can only find completion in Him.
-
Jobs will come and go, relationships might stand or
-
fall apart, but He's the anchor you can tie your SO to.
-
You can find complete in Him. Mark 5, the blessed popular Mark
-
5. Jesus comes on the shore of the
-
gatherings. There's a man living among the
-
tombs of all places. And you thought Motel 6 was bad?
-
He's not even paying by the hour.
-
I'm just telling you, he's living among the tombs.
-
Bible says no one could bind him.
-
They've tried with cheddar's. cheddar's chains and fetters.
-
I like to eat at Cheddar's Buffalo Chicken Wrap, one of my
-
favorites. To tell you the truth.
-
But chains and fetters, and the reason why it gives us this two
-
distinguishment of words is like 11 applies to what's around his
-
feet. The other applies to what's
-
around his hands. Anybody want to go to chatters
-
after? I praise God I just lost
-
everybody. They're in lunch now.
-
The mind, the mind. Bible says nobody contained him,
-
right? Yeah.
-
Let me put in this terminology. The professionals are at their
-
wit's end, right? Yeah, right, right.
-
He you want self harm in scripture, he's practicing self
-
harm. He's cutting himself with
-
stones. That's in your he's cutting
-
himself with stones. He wants help.
-
He rinsed to Jesus. Bible says there's a legion of
-
demons in him. Yet he may still makes his way
-
to Jesus because his need was greater than his torment, and
-
that also spells your torment can't keep you from getting your
-
need met. But the time, by the time
-
everything is over, the Scripture says these words
-
concerning this man, the wandering tune, cutting,
-
deranged, I mean to say this chattered man, when they come to
-
find him next to Jesus, he's sitting, no longer wondering.
-
He's clothed and in his right mind.
-
Don't tell me, Dana, that God can't do it because he
-
specializes in the mine. One physical aspect of the cross
-
involved a crown of thorns, which had these thorny, long,
-
thorny piercings coming in from every direction toward the head
-
or the mind. If I may, piercing thoughts.
-
Trepidation of the mind symbolized at Calvary or
-
symbolize in another tongue it says at Golgotha, which means
-
what the scripture says and interpreted to mean the place of
-
the skull. So at the place of the skull
-
there would be an impelling wooden member of redemption.
-
At the place of the skull on Golgotha's heel, Redemption
-
impaled through the skull. He who knew no sin bore sin in
-
his body for us, Scripture tells us He gave his life.
-
Therefore, he gave his back to the beatings that it received.
-
He gave his hands and he gave his feet and he gave his side to
-
the piercings and those storms that were properly placed on his
-
head, coming in from every direction and angle, pointing at
-
penetrating toward every region of the brain.
-
This just hit me on to Thursday. This even really goes beyond
-
just storms and piercings toward our thoughts, but every region
-
of the brain. That means there's storms
-
pointing toward motor skills, there's storms pointing towards
-
language sets that's in your brain.
-
There's storms pointing toward memories talking about the
-
different regions of your brain around about your skull.
-
It's pointing towards your cognitive reasoning.
-
All these storms coming in and every angle.
-
And so in the Gospels, particularly of John 19, when
-
Jesus is hanging there on that cross and his head bowed with
-
the thorns of his crown, he says it is finished.
-
Scripture says, and he bowed his head with that thorny crown.
-
He's in that moment, as he was with all the moments leading up
-
to this culmination. He's surrendering to all of the
-
devices, all of the tortures, all of humanity, sin, all of the
-
thoughts that are sin stricken in his mind that he's plagued
-
by. He's surrendering all and paying
-
the price for our victory. And this is what I want you to
-
understand. Christ bowed his head with the
-
thorny penetration of that that crown up on his head, so that
-
you could lift your head. What are you trying to get
-
across? There only needs to be 1 head
-
bowing here. There only needs to be 1 head
-
bowing there. You know how it is when people's
-
overwhelmed in their mind, seldom are they looking up.
-
It's as though the real weight of the thoughts of their mind
-
has cast their eyes down and cast their head down.
-
I'm telling you today there only needs to be 1 head that ever
-
bowed and that's his head. And because his head bowed, that
-
empowers me to lift mine. That empowers me to be like a
-
Nebuchadnezzar with all these thoughts that's plagued my mind.
-
I'm going to get the strength through him and I'm going to
-
lift my eyes until the heaven and I feel sanity coming back.
-
I feel. I feel healing coming.
-
I feel clarity coming because he bowed his.
-
I can lift mine. You don't stand with me, so this
-
is what I'm convinced of as a. Pastor here of a few.
-
Great. People sitting in these Piers
-
this morning, I'm convinced of this, that if God can restore
-
the mine of the Pagan heathen king in a field somewhere that's
-
taken on the actions of an animal, then he can restore the
-
minds of individuals right here in this room.
-
Yes, Amen. Yes, Jesus, yes, eaten has an
-
ox, talons of his hands. Somebody in the spiritual sense
-
today needs to tell the beasts of the field goodbye.
-
Pluck your feathers, trim your nails, lift up your eyes, lift
-
up your head and give praise to the Most High God.
-
Can we tilt our heads back whether they're your eyes are
-
closed or open, Hands extended to God right now and just begin
-
to honor as Nebuchadnezzar did when his sanity came back to
-
him? On or the one who has, the Bible
-
says an everlasting dominion that spans all eternity.
-
You can't find out where his dominion started, and you can't
-
find out where his dominion has ended.
-
He's always had the dominion. So if you feel dominated today,
-
that's not God. Amen.
-
But if you'll lift up your head to the real dominator, he can
-
help you. He can heal your mind.
-
He can bring peace to your thoughts.
-
He can bring clarity. I can't do it today.
-
Nobody else in this building can do it today.
-
But our God can. Our God can if your mind has
-
been the battlefield for the past few months.
-
If your thoughts have been louder than your faith for the
-
past few weeks, if you've just been rehearsing defeat and
-
despair and anxiety and escapism, it's time for you to
-
lift your. Head it's time for you to lift
-
your head. Lift a prayer right where you
-
are. Right where you are, you can
-
lift your eyes, you can lift your voice, you can lift your
-
mind to heaven and the healing, the healing can come.
-
You tell me, Brother McGee, stop my therapist.
-
No, I would never tell you that. Keep going to therapy, but pair
-
with that therapy a prayer and lifted eyes to heaven.
-
You tell me, don't see the doctor.
-
No, go to the doctor, please, I admonish.
-
You to do. So that that's being a good
-
steward of your body. Go do it, but don't leave this
-
other undone. Because I'm convinced the very
-
one that created the body and the snap seas of the brain and
-
the interconnections of the ligament in the joints.
-
If He's the creator of us and the owner of us, then I believe
-
He has the power, if He wills, to take care of whatever it is
-
about us. Come on, somebody, if it's
-
appropriate, can you just lay your hand on your neighbor's
-
shoulder? Or on their.
-
Back if it's appropriate. Can you, can you start just to
-
offer a simple prayer? God, we live in a real world.
-
We come in sometimes with anxieties and fears and dismays
-
and disappointments and God, there's things that ravage our
-
thoughts and God caused us to get in the gutter of thinking
-
Lord the same thing over and over and it almost becomes self
-
self fulfilling prophecy because we can't we can't allow anything
-
else to penetrate the thoughts of our mind and it's negative,
-
negative, negative, bad, bad, bad.
-
It's not going to happen. It's hopeless, so and so forth.
-
God, I pray today. God, help my friend, help my
-
neighbor. Help us as a church to let our
-
rise. Help us, God, help us.
-
God, I look to you. God, you, you're where my help
-
comes from. You're where my help comes from.
-
You're where my help comes from. Sir.
-
Neighbor, just cast your care on the Lord today.
-
Cast your care on the Lord today.
-
Are you heavy laden? Are you heavy laden in your
-
mind? Then go to the Lord.
-
His yoke is easy. His burden is light.
-
Go to the Lord. Sir, it.
-
Come on, Sir, It's not hopeless. It's not beyond, it's not a lost
-
cause. It's no trouble to God.
-
It's it's no trouble. Come on, Sir, Come on, ma'am.
-
You can respond to the Spirit of the Lord that you're feeling
-
right where you're standing. You can respond with a lift,
-
voice, lift hands, lift. You can respond right where
-
you're at. God can meet you right where you
-
are. Come on, Sir.
-
Come on, ma'am. Maybe means of symbolism.
-
Symbolism. You just need to come to this
-
altar. So, God, I'm just going to bring
-
it here. I'm going to leave it on the
-
altar today. I'm going to leave it there.
-
I'm not going to pick it up. God, I'm laying it down.
-
I can't allow this to dictate my life anymore.
-
I can't allow this to have the stronghold.
-
I've casted my eyes up.
