-
Brother Jim: Hey, yo.
-
Brother Jim: Hey, you!
-
Brother Jim: Yes, you.
-
Brother Jim: May I have your attention, please?
-
Brother Jim: How you doing?
-
Brother Jim: Allow me to brighten your day.
-
Brother Jim: Because it is time, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: Time for Bible.
-
Brother Jim: Bibs and a prayer.
-
Brother Jim: Whether you are driving down the road, sitting at your desk,
-
Brother Jim: yawning and playing Tetris or whatever solitude, put it aside.
-
Brother Jim: Maybe you're out mowing the lawn or pretending to work hard while
-
Brother Jim: secretly listening to us.
-
Brother Jim: We are grateful you are making the choice.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, you're making a choice to
-
Brother Jim: spend a little time with us
-
Brother Jim: today.
-
Brother Jim: The dynamic duo here on Bible bibs and prayer and the goal of
-
Brother Jim: Bible bibs in a prayer is quite simple, just like us.
-
Brother Jim: To talk about God's Word, encourage one another in our
-
Brother Jim: faith, share a few laughs and hopefully leave you a little.
-
Brother Jim: Lead you and leave you, lead and
-
Brother Jim: leave you a little closer to
-
Brother Jim: Jesus than when we when you
-
Brother Jim: started listening.
-
Brother Jim: So grab your coffee.
-
Brother Jim: That rocket fuel your body
-
Brother Jim: probably should not be taking
-
Brother Jim: you in.
-
Brother Jim: For example, this delicious bottle of Mountain Dew.
-
Brother Jim: I hate to say it.
-
David: David fell off the Mountain Dew wagon, fell.
-
Brother Jim: Off the Mountain Dew wagon.
-
David: It's tough.
-
Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.
-
David: I feel you.
-
Brother Jim: But again, I'm not going to judge.
-
Brother Jim: So you don't judge me, okay?
-
Brother Jim: What we put in our bodies.
-
Brother Jim: That's right.
-
David: Right.
-
Brother Jim: All right.
-
Brother Jim: So grab your Bible, buckle up and let's get ready to hit that
-
Brother Jim: road fast and furious.
-
Brother Jim: This is Bible bibs and a prayer.
-
Brother Jim: You know, we need to get a tire squeal in there, David.
-
Brother Jim: You know, for that little.
-
David: Yeah, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Kind of like a burnout.
-
Brother Jim: Before we go to this funny story, Saturday night, I was up
-
Brother Jim: here working on a sermon late and I heard this ruckus outside.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: I'm like, what is somebody doing?
-
Brother Jim: So yeah, later I hopped in the truck to go home.
-
Brother Jim: They had laid a patch of rubber
-
Brother Jim: from the church all the way
-
Brother Jim: down.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, down the road.
-
David: I wonder what they were driving.
-
Brother Jim: I know it didn't sound healthy, I'll tell you that.
-
Brother Jim: But why waste the tire?
-
Brother Jim: The tread?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, I wish I was that rich.
-
Brother Jim: I could do that.
-
Brother Jim: All right.
-
Brother Jim: Hey, this is Bible bibs and a prayer, so let's get started.
-
Brother Jim: Number one, we're just grateful you're here.
-
Brother Jim: And since you're here, why don't
-
Brother Jim: you ignore those
-
Brother Jim: responsibilities?
-
Brother Jim: Just for a few moments?
-
Brother Jim: We'll write you a hall pass.
-
Brother Jim: Pretend your inbox does not exist.
-
Brother Jim: Who cares about all those blah, blah blah emails, right, David?
-
David: Yep.
-
Brother Jim: Get to the point.
-
Brother Jim: Or those texts.
-
Brother Jim: Let them go for a few moments.
-
Brother Jim: Put your phone aside.
-
Brother Jim: Unless you're watching it with
-
Brother Jim: us on here and let us spend a
-
Brother Jim: little time laughing, learning
-
Brother Jim: and growing and growing together
-
Brother Jim: in Christ.
-
Brother Jim: Because around here we believe
-
Brother Jim: life is serious enough already,
-
Brother Jim: so we might as well walk through
-
Brother Jim: it with a little faith, a little
-
Brother Jim: laughter, and a whole lot of
-
Brother Jim: grace.
-
Brother Jim: You know, folks, it's hard to be
-
Brother Jim: nostalgic when you cannot
-
Brother Jim: remember anything.
-
Brother Jim: And number two, my manager told me to have a great day, so I
-
Brother Jim: didn't go to work.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, it's double joke.
-
Brother Jim: Thursday.
-
Brother Jim: Come on, friends, let's turn
-
Brother Jim: this in from a conversation into
-
Brother Jim: an experience.
-
Brother Jim: What a blessing.
-
Brother Jim: Right.
-
Brother Jim: Ida Lee.
-
Brother Jim: Miss Ida Lee.
-
Brother Jim: Mr. Dan the chicken man.
-
Brother Jim: Happy Lin.
-
Brother Jim: Please notice Happy Lin and Tom, the turkey.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, and by the way, Miss Ida
-
Brother Jim: Lee, what do you call a pig that
-
Brother Jim: knows karate?
-
David: I don't know.
-
Brother Jim: A pork chop.
-
Brother Jim: Sorry, baby.
-
Brother Jim: Sorry, baby.
-
Brother Jim: So in saying all that, good morning to you, our friends.
-
Brother Jim: Good morning world.
-
Brother Jim: Let us take a moment and thank God for another beautiful day,
-
Brother Jim: another breath in our lungs and another opportunity to grow,
-
Brother Jim: learn and try again.
-
Brother Jim: Because here on Bible Bibs in a prayer, we do not just roll out
-
Brother Jim: of bed and survive the morning.
-
Brother Jim: No no no. We started with gratitude.
-
Brother Jim: We started with good
-
Brother Jim: conversation and we started with
-
Brother Jim: a positive energy and some
-
Brother Jim: questionable jokes.
-
Brother Jim: I like that pork chop, but that's what makes life fun.
-
Brother Jim: That's what makes us fun.
-
Brother Jim: And here is one for you listeners out there.
-
Brother Jim: One more.
-
Brother Jim: What do you call a man who has served the Lord faithfully for
-
Brother Jim: many years and complained about technology for most of them?
-
Brother Jim: Haha.
-
Brother Jim: That is correct.
-
Brother Jim: My co-host and partner in crime.
-
Brother Jim: I got him laughing.
-
Brother Jim: A man who exercise program
-
Brother Jim: consists mainly of changing TV
-
Brother Jim: channels.
-
Brother Jim: A man among men who also claims
-
Brother Jim: I don't lose my train of
-
Brother Jim: thought.
-
Brother Jim: It just makes unscheduled stops.
-
Brother Jim: And yes, there are times he's just a big outside.
-
Brother Jim: Please welcome the one, the only Mr. David Keener.
-
Brother Jim: And not just a co-host, but one
-
Brother Jim: of my best friends in the whole
-
Brother Jim: wide world.
-
Brother Jim: Good morning sir.
-
David: Good morning.
-
David: I was just curious.
-
David: Have.
-
David: Have you you've heard of Murphy's Law, right?
-
David: Oh, yes.
-
David: Do you know?
-
David: Know what it is?
-
David: Yeah.
-
David: What?
-
David: What is it?
-
David: Murphy's law.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Why don't you tell me?
-
Brother Jim: I'm having a brain.
-
David: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
-
Brother Jim: Will go wrong.
-
Brother Jim: Right, man.
-
Brother Jim: Back luck.
-
Brother Jim: What we call it.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, man.
-
David: Have you heard of coleslaw?
-
Brother Jim: Coleslaw?
-
David: Yeah, it's a little tougher one.
-
David: It's a thinly sliced cabbage and mayonnaise.
-
David: Yeah, that's what I was going.
-
Brother Jim: It goes great with barbecue.
-
David: That's right.
-
Brother Jim: You put.
-
Brother Jim: Now I know what you go through.
-
Brother Jim: When I put you on the spot, it's
-
Brother Jim: like, yeah, I know Murphy's Law,
-
Brother Jim: but I can't think of it right
-
Brother Jim: now.
-
David: Everything just goes.
-
Brother Jim: If it will, it will.
-
Brother Jim: And it's yes.
-
Brother Jim: And that's why we call it man back luck.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: If there's one nail on the road, everybody drives over and does
-
Brother Jim: not puncture a tire.
-
Brother Jim: We're the ones.
-
David: That's right.
-
Brother Jim: That drives over it and gets a big old hole.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: That's just kind of.
-
Brother Jim: But hey, we're still blessed.
-
Brother Jim: That's right.
-
Brother Jim: How's it going in Kerrville, my friend?
-
David: It's going well.
-
David: Uh, one way or the other, jury duty is over as of today, so
-
David: whether I had to serve or not, I don't know, but, uh.
-
David: But we're done.
-
David: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: You have done your civic duty.
-
David: I can check that box.
-
David: And I'm good for a minimum of two years.
-
Brother Jim: We salute.
-
David: You. Other than that, not too much weather's been decent.
-
David: I don't.
-
David: There hasn't been a drop of rain this week that I know of.
-
Brother Jim: I know, that's so nice.
-
Brother Jim: Catch up.
-
Brother Jim: Big plans for the weekend probably.
-
David: Mon.
-
Brother Jim: Mon.
-
David: Yes. Now that it's sunny, it's gonna be mowing.
-
David: Mowing all the time.
-
Brother Jim: Yes. Uh, yeah, just trying to work around the house.
-
Brother Jim: How about you folks?
-
Brother Jim: I'm sure everybody's busy, busy, busy.
-
Brother Jim: And, uh, hopefully by the time
-
Brother Jim: we're done with this or you're
-
Brother Jim: listening to this, my garden
-
Brother Jim: will be finally planted and
-
Brother Jim: done.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, because it's getting close now.
-
Brother Jim: I got to get them in.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: But, uh, you know, uh, when I went to get my belt.
-
Brother Jim: I was telling David a story.
-
Brother Jim: I won't bore you with that, but,
-
Brother Jim: uh, the wife wants to clean the
-
Brother Jim: front porch.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Pressure washing everything.
-
Brother Jim: And I am such a sucker.
-
Brother Jim: I went into Napa the other day
-
Brother Jim: to get some belts for the
-
Brother Jim: mowers.
-
Brother Jim: And lo and behold, and they got me.
-
Brother Jim: They got me one of those power wands.
-
Brother Jim: You hook up to your hose.
-
David: Okay.
-
Brother Jim: Because I've got the gas powered, uh, power washer and
-
Brother Jim: I've got electric one, which really does a nice job.
-
Brother Jim: But this one simply you just put
-
Brother Jim: on your hose and it comes with a
-
Brother Jim: little holder for your cleaning
-
Brother Jim: solution.
-
Brother Jim: Okay.
-
Brother Jim: And they said it's ideal for
-
Brother Jim: lawn mowers, porches, that kind
-
Brother Jim: of stuff.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: So, and I got to be honest, the only reason I bought it to help
-
Brother Jim: keep me from having to go through all the hassle of
-
Brother Jim: getting a pressure washer.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, yes.
-
Brother Jim: Was it right or wrong?
-
Brother Jim: I don't know, and I gotta admit, I really didn't ask God, should
-
Brother Jim: I buy it?
-
Brother Jim: I was selfish thinking, hey, Kerry.
-
Brother Jim: Here, knock yourself.
-
David: Out.
-
Brother Jim: You're right.
-
Brother Jim: Instead of dragging everything out.
-
Brother Jim: So, uh, hopefully we get that done.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, because there's nothing like sitting on the front porch.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, did you guys notice the full moon this past week?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, it was beautiful.
-
Brother Jim: Beautiful.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, right now, it's like, every night is a perfect night
-
Brother Jim: for a fire.
-
Brother Jim: So, uh, so what's your plans for the weekend?
-
Brother Jim: You got anything good going on?
-
Brother Jim: Let us know in the comments.
-
Brother Jim: You guys have been very quiet.
-
Brother Jim: Come on, Peg.
-
Brother Jim: Abraham.
-
Brother Jim: Hey, how you doing, friend?
-
Brother Jim: I called you the other day, by the way.
-
Brother Jim: No answer.
-
Brother Jim: So, uh, you know, let us know.
-
Brother Jim: We we get lonely here.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, for goodness sakes,
-
Brother Jim: we're talking to fake chickens
-
Brother Jim: and monkeys and Miss Ida Lena a
-
Brother Jim: dead turkey.
-
Brother Jim: He's just tired.
-
Brother Jim: Okay?
-
Brother Jim: He had a long night, but, uh, you know, again, as Dave and I
-
Brother Jim: try to figure all this out.
-
Brother Jim: What about you?
-
Brother Jim: How is it going in your life?
-
Brother Jim: What's your big plans for the weekend?
-
Brother Jim: And you know, before we know it, the fourth will be here.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, big year two hundred and fifty.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, that deserves extra fireworks.
-
Brother Jim: The way I look at it.
-
David: They say that the average constitution that other
-
David: countries have lasts on average about thirty years.
-
Brother Jim: Thirty.
-
David: Wow. And we've made it two hundred and fifty.
-
David: So something something's going right.
-
Brother Jim: The boys knew what they were doing.
-
David: Yep, yep.
-
Brother Jim: But the plan the thing is the
-
Brother Jim: question is are we going to mess
-
Brother Jim: it up?
-
Brother Jim: Woo hoo!
-
David: We're trying.
-
Brother Jim: We're trying our best.
-
Brother Jim: Same thing with the word yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Let's be honest.
-
Brother Jim: Let's be real darn honest.
-
Brother Jim: Honest.
-
Brother Jim: This morning we're messing with the word, trying to rewrite it
-
Brother Jim: to make life easier for us.
-
Brother Jim: True, David.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, I think that's all it is.
-
Brother Jim: Trying to make life easier for us.
-
Brother Jim: So, uh.
-
Brother Jim: But, hey, you know what?
-
Brother Jim: Plans for the weekend?
-
Brother Jim: A little rest, a little family time, a little church time, a
-
Brother Jim: little bit of sleeping in, maybe, or, you know, just trying
-
Brother Jim: to survive until Monday.
-
Brother Jim: And hopefully you're not just trying to survive.
-
Brother Jim: Don't don't live for the weekends, my friend.
-
Brother Jim: Embrace the weekends.
-
Brother Jim: Rest.
-
Brother Jim: Have some fun.
-
Brother Jim: My goodness.
-
Brother Jim: Throw in a Three Stooges movie.
-
Brother Jim: I got David laughing again.
-
Brother Jim: Might get edited on that one, but hey, I don't care.
-
Brother Jim: I'm free spirit free flowing today.
-
Brother Jim: But whatever it is, we hope it is filled with peace, laughter,
-
Brother Jim: a whole lot of laughter and a little bit of joy.
-
Brother Jim: You know what?
-
Brother Jim: Scratch that last remark.
-
Brother Jim: A whole lot of joy.
-
Brother Jim: Because weekends may come and weekends go.
-
Brother Jim: But God's goodness does not take a day off.
-
Brother Jim: Thank you, Lord, for that.
-
Brother Jim: Alrighty then.
-
Brother Jim: A week has almost come to an end.
-
Brother Jim: Friends, let me ask you this morning as I always ask, what
-
Brother Jim: have you done to make this week a better place and a difference
-
Brother Jim: in God's kingdom?
-
Brother Jim: Not just what you accomplished, not just what you survived, but
-
Brother Jim: how did you shine for Jesus in the middle of it all?
-
Brother Jim: And again, the weekend is almost here.
-
Brother Jim: So you still got time.
-
Brother Jim: You got time.
-
Brother Jim: Take a breath stretch, though.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: We're trying to get it in the
-
Brother Jim: budget to get him a massage
-
Brother Jim: chair.
-
Brother Jim: Here.
-
David: There you.
-
Brother Jim: Go. Maybe even crack that smile you've been hiding since Monday.
-
Brother Jim: Because now it is time, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, baby.
-
Brother Jim: That's why I got my hat on.
-
Brother Jim: Woo!
-
Brother Jim: Time to saddle up and hit the brand new trail together.
-
Brother Jim: The brand new weekend trail.
-
Brother Jim: That's what I'm talking about.
-
Brother Jim: And you know what?
-
Brother Jim: I know you might be feeling a
-
Brother Jim: little tired, a little worn
-
Brother Jim: down.
-
Brother Jim: Maybe even just a little.
-
Brother Jim: I just need five minutes of silence and more than a snack, a
-
Brother Jim: couple snacks, a box, a bag.
-
Brother Jim: Because I am exhausted.
-
Brother Jim: But you know what?
-
Brother Jim: You can do it.
-
Brother Jim: You're almost there.
-
Brother Jim: God.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, God has carried you through
-
Brother Jim: the week and he is not done with
-
Brother Jim: you yet.
-
Brother Jim: So step into the weekend with faith.
-
Brother Jim: Step into it with joy.
-
Brother Jim: Step into it knowing that God still got purpose for you even
-
Brother Jim: on your days off.
-
Brother Jim: Now, I love when I leave work
-
Brother Jim: early to surprise my wife at
-
Brother Jim: home, and she greets me with the
-
Brother Jim: three special words, were you
-
Brother Jim: fired?
-
Brother Jim: Uh. You ever leave work early, David?
-
Brother Jim: And your wife asks you that one.
-
Brother Jim: Why are you home?
-
Brother Jim: Were you fired?
-
David: Thankfully, no. All right.
-
Brother Jim: Anymore.
-
Brother Jim: Though most people work from home or have that opportunity.
-
Brother Jim: So, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: I wonder if you work from home.
-
Brother Jim: How do you get fired?
-
Brother Jim: We need you to come into the office or we're going to zoom.
-
Brother Jim: Wouldn't that be great?
-
Brother Jim: And so personable.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, a Zoom meeting.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, by the way, Mr. Keener, we no longer require your services.
-
David: I have heard from friends who
-
David: work at Amazon that they fire
-
David: you over your workstation
-
David: terminal.
-
David: Like your screen just locks and it says, please gather your
-
David: things and report to HR.
-
David: If you work in like the Amazon warehouses and stuff like that,
-
David: they fire you over the terminal.
-
Brother Jim: Nice.
-
David: Thanks. Jeff Bezos.
-
Brother Jim: So does everybody have a box next to them?
-
David: I have no idea.
-
David: But but that's.
-
Brother Jim: The red box.
-
David: That's insider information from
-
David: people that I know have worked
-
David: for Amazon.
-
David: Wow.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: That would just make a. And what
-
Brother Jim: if the off chance your monitor
-
Brother Jim: does freeze or something an
-
Brother Jim: error comes up or you're the
-
Brother Jim: wrong.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, right.
-
Brother Jim: You walk up to HR with your little box.
-
Brother Jim: What are you doing here?
-
Brother Jim: Oh, wow.
-
Brother Jim: That makes me just feel all warm and cozy.
-
David: Right.
-
Brother Jim: So what you're saying is if I get my, uh, monitor freezes up
-
Brother Jim: and it says, box up your things.
-
Brother Jim: Jim, we need to see you.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, wow.
-
Brother Jim: I just totally lost on that one.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, alrighty.
-
Brother Jim: Today's thought.
-
Brother Jim: The way you store up treasure in heaven is by investing in
-
Brother Jim: getting people there.
-
Brother Jim: Who?
-
Brother Jim: Rick Warren, investing.
-
Brother Jim: Storing up your treasure in heaven is by investing in
-
Brother Jim: getting people there.
-
Brother Jim: Now, here's a question as we talk about heaven, how people
-
Brother Jim: miss out on heaven.
-
Brother Jim: Now, have you ever missed something in your life?
-
Brother Jim: Missed the bus, missed the
-
Brother Jim: missed the cab, missed the
-
Brother Jim: meeting.
-
Brother Jim: Which unfortunately, you better not if you work for Amazon.
-
Brother Jim: Jeez, what have you missed out on in life?
-
Brother Jim: You can always catch another bus.
-
Brother Jim: You can always get it right.
-
Brother Jim: Another ride right, David?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: There's always opportunity to make it up.
-
Brother Jim: But with heaven, there's only one bus.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, there's no redos.
-
Brother Jim: There's no getting an Uber to get you there.
-
Brother Jim: How many people miss out on heaven?
-
Brother Jim: Now, brothers and sisters, one of the saddest truths in all of
-
Brother Jim: Scripture is this not everyone will enter heaven.
-
Brother Jim: That may sound harsh in today's
-
Brother Jim: world because many people
-
Brother Jim: believe as Everyone goes to
-
Brother Jim: heaven.
-
Brother Jim: And unfortunately, that comes from the pulpit.
-
Brother Jim: But Jesus never taught that.
-
Brother Jim: Again, I go back to this.
-
Brother Jim: We've talked about this.
-
Brother Jim: Jesus warned repeatedly that many people would miss eternal
-
Brother Jim: life because they refused to truly follow him.
-
Brother Jim: Matthew seven thirteen to fourteen.
-
Brother Jim: Now I want you to picture this.
-
Brother Jim: Okay.
-
Brother Jim: You got the big gate, wide gate on the left, and you got this,
-
Brother Jim: this little gate on the right.
-
Brother Jim: Matthew seven thirteen to
-
Brother Jim: fourteen enter by the narrow
-
Brother Jim: gate, for wide is the gate, and
-
Brother Jim: broad is the way that leads to
-
Brother Jim: destruction.
-
Brother Jim: And there are many ways many who go in it by it.
-
Brother Jim: There are many who go in by it because narrow is the gate and
-
Brother Jim: difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few, few
-
Brother Jim: who find it.
-
Brother Jim: Now that should cause every one
-
Brother Jim: of us to examine our hearts
-
Brother Jim: carefully.
-
Brother Jim: Should be a reality check.
-
Brother Jim: Some miss heaven because they simply just reject Jesus.
-
Brother Jim: And that is one of the greatest tragedies.
-
Brother Jim: It's not poverty.
-
Brother Jim: It's not sickness.
-
Brother Jim: It's not failure.
-
Brother Jim: The greatest tragedy is rejecting rejecting the Savior.
-
Brother Jim: Jesus made it clear as we talked Tuesday.
-
Brother Jim: John fourteen six again, I'm the
-
Brother Jim: way, I'm the truth, and I'm the
-
Brother Jim: life.
-
Brother Jim: No one, no one.
-
Brother Jim: No matter how good, how pretty,
-
Brother Jim: how much you've done comes to
-
Brother Jim: the father.
-
Brother Jim: Except through me.
-
Brother Jim: Now, how many of us in our society today want heaven?
-
Brother Jim: But they don't want Jesus, huh?
-
Brother Jim: Think about that one.
-
Brother Jim: How many people want heaven without Jesus?
-
Brother Jim: They want blessings without surrender.
-
Brother Jim: They want eternal life without repentance.
-
Brother Jim: But salvation is found again.
-
Brother Jim: And I can't stress this enough.
-
Brother Jim: In Christ alone, a person can know about Jesus without truly
-
Brother Jim: knowing him personally.
-
Brother Jim: Is that you today?
-
Brother Jim: Listening in?
-
Brother Jim: Is that me?
-
Brother Jim: Is that David?
-
Brother Jim: Is that great grandma?
-
Brother Jim: Is that Uncle John?
-
Brother Jim: Aunt Linda?
-
Brother Jim: Who knows?
-
Brother Jim: But again, they can claim it.
-
Brother Jim: But do they really know him personally?
-
Brother Jim: Some miss heaven because they love.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, David, they love sin more than God.
-
Brother Jim: True statement.
-
David: Absolutely.
-
Brother Jim: Sin is fun, brother.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Sin is.
-
David: Fun. Instant gratification?
-
David: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Because we all have our little our little crosses to carry
-
Brother Jim: those little sins that please us, that make us happy.
-
Brother Jim: David might have some totally different from mine.
-
Brother Jim: You might have some totally different from mine.
-
Brother Jim: But if we're oh, we're honest today, sin can be fun.
-
Brother Jim: And who?
-
Brother Jim: Who knows that as well?
-
Brother Jim: Satan.
-
Brother Jim: He loves to tempt you and I. He loves to tempt mankind.
-
Brother Jim: One of the dangers of sin is
-
Brother Jim: that it can harden the human
-
Brother Jim: heart.
-
Brother Jim: And I have seen this before.
-
Brother Jim: Maybe you have to.
-
Brother Jim: People often say, I will come to God later in my life when I'm
-
Brother Jim: older, because I've got more living to do.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Let me ask you something, David.
-
Brother Jim: And we've discussed this before.
-
Brother Jim: Do you know when your last day is going to be?
-
David: Unfortunately, no, no.
-
Brother Jim: So that kind of disqualifies that statement.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Because you might not make it to sixty five before all of a
-
Brother Jim: sudden I need you, God.
-
Brother Jim: You might be twenty five and tomorrow is your last day.
-
Brother Jim: You're gambling with eternity.
-
Brother Jim: I'm not ready to give this lifestyle up yet.
-
Brother Jim: But the longer people resist God, the easier it becomes to
-
Brother Jim: ignore his voice.
-
Brother Jim: David, let me ask you something.
-
Brother Jim: I've seen this the other day.
-
Brother Jim: Would you want to know your final day?
-
Brother Jim: Final time?
-
David: I don't know.
-
David: I don't know if I would or not.
-
Brother Jim: If I could say, David, on this date, thirty years from now will
-
Brother Jim: be your last day.
-
Brother Jim: Would you want to know?
-
David: I, I don't think I would.
-
Brother Jim: See, I think I do.
-
Brother Jim: I would want to know.
-
David: For me that would just be like
-
David: impending doom just looming over
-
David: my head for the next thirty
-
David: years.
-
Brother Jim: Very true, very true.
-
Brother Jim: I agree with you one hundred percent.
-
Brother Jim: But also I look at it as, okay, that day, I'm going to be with
-
Brother Jim: my Jesus celebration.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Okay.
-
Brother Jim: And again, not putting down what you said because yeah, but also
-
Brother Jim: for me as a believer, and this is just me, it gives me time to
-
Brother Jim: know how much time I have to give my best.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: You know, a positive attitude.
-
Brother Jim: Okay, I've got one year, by golly, I'm going to give a year
-
Brother Jim: of having fun with my family, enjoying God's blessings and
-
Brother Jim: most of all, trying to bring people to the kingdom.
-
Brother Jim: So I, I completely understand what you're saying because human
-
Brother Jim: nature, I think that would be in the back of our minds.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, man, this is my last Christmas.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Oh man.
-
Brother Jim: This is my last.
-
Brother Jim: But also, would that give you that extra fire, man?
-
Brother Jim: Instead of taking for granted.
-
Brother Jim: I'm going to give it my all, you know?
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: So again, it's kind of how about you listeners?
-
Brother Jim: Would you like to know?
-
Brother Jim: Let us know in the comments.
-
Brother Jim: If you somehow get your tag, get your on your screen.
-
Brother Jim: Boop boop boop alert, brother
-
Brother Jim: Jim, your last day will be blah,
-
Brother Jim: blah, blah.
-
Brother Jim: Okay.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, I think I would like to know the Bible says in Romans
-
Brother Jim: six twenty three, for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of
-
Brother Jim: God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
-
Brother Jim: Sin promises, especially in this day and age, pleasure for a
-
Brother Jim: season, but it leads to spiritual destruction, decay.
-
Brother Jim: Many.
-
Brother Jim: Let me add death.
-
Brother Jim: Many people miss heaven because they refuse to let go of the
-
Brother Jim: very things destroying them.
-
Brother Jim: I'm sorry.
-
Brother Jim: And again, each to their own.
-
Brother Jim: I can't help because I've seen this happen.
-
Brother Jim: Someone I dearly loved.
-
Brother Jim: They're battling cancer.
-
Brother Jim: They're in their last days.
-
Brother Jim: Oxygen masks.
-
Brother Jim: Cigarette?
-
Brother Jim: Whew.
-
David: Yikes.
-
Brother Jim: And again.
-
Brother Jim: I'm okay.
-
Brother Jim: I'm not judging here.
-
Brother Jim: But again, there's the very thing that has destroyed you.
-
Brother Jim: And you're still.
-
David: Maybe they want to go out with a bang.
-
David: Maybe literal explosion.
-
Brother Jim: Yes. And I'm just using that as an example.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, it could be me sitting there with two sub sandwiches
-
Brother Jim: and a whole chocolate cake.
-
Brother Jim: You know?
-
Brother Jim: There's someone I knew who had two heart plants.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: Two.
-
Brother Jim: And they're sitting there with a
-
Brother Jim: bucket of fried Kentucky fried
-
Brother Jim: chicken, not peeling the skin
-
Brother Jim: off.
-
Brother Jim: I'm sorry.
-
Brother Jim: I am judging their out of concern.
-
Brother Jim: I can't help but think you've been blessed with two hearts.
-
David: All right.
-
Brother Jim: Two. And there you are, pounding a bucket of fried chicken with
-
Brother Jim: the skin on.
-
Brother Jim: Now again, I, I guess I'm judging, but it's just kind of,
-
Brother Jim: you know, ironic.
-
David: You've been given a second opportunity at life.
-
David: You would think you wouldn't squander it.
-
Brother Jim: Right?
-
Brother Jim: Right now, I'm not saying I wouldn't have.
-
Brother Jim: Maybe I'd have one piece or two pieces.
-
Brother Jim: Okay.
-
Brother Jim: Moderation, but a whole bucket
-
Brother Jim: of chicken, it'd be like in the
-
Brother Jim: heart ward.
-
Brother Jim: Hey, man, you want to like you
-
Brother Jim: like dark or white to the guy
-
Brother Jim: just had open heart surgery, you
-
Brother Jim: know?
-
Brother Jim: Oh, man.
-
Brother Jim: They go to change your sheets and you got crusties all over.
-
Brother Jim: Think of that one.
-
Brother Jim: All right.
-
Brother Jim: Some miss heaven because they
-
Brother Jim: trust religion instead of
-
Brother Jim: relationship.
-
Brother Jim: I love this one.
-
Brother Jim: Church attendance alone cannot save us.
-
Brother Jim: As we discussed Tuesday, being baptized alone cannot save us.
-
Brother Jim: Knowing Bible verses alone cannot save us.
-
Brother Jim: Jesus warned again in Matthew seven twenty one.
-
Brother Jim: And again, a lot of these scriptures are repeated because
-
Brother Jim: they mean something.
-
Brother Jim: Not everyone who says to me,
-
Brother Jim: Lord, Lord, shall enter the
-
Brother Jim: kingdom of heaven, but he who
-
Brother Jim: does the will of my father in
-
Brother Jim: heaven.
-
Brother Jim: There will be people who looked
-
Brother Jim: religious on the outside but
-
Brother Jim: never surrendered their hearts
-
Brother Jim: to Christ.
-
Brother Jim: God does not want empty religion.
-
Brother Jim: Let me repeat that again.
-
Brother Jim: God does not want empty religion.
-
Brother Jim: He wants genuine faith.
-
Brother Jim: Some missed heaven because of pride.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, David, there's a big one.
-
Brother Jim: Pride.
-
Brother Jim: Pride keeps people from admitting they need God.
-
Brother Jim: Do you ever have someone stubborn in your life?
-
David: Oh, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, they're going to do it.
-
Brother Jim: I did it my way.
-
Brother Jim: Well, what did your way get you?
-
Brother Jim: They don't want to admit they need God.
-
Brother Jim: Some think, hey, I'm a good person.
-
Brother Jim: I don't need no saving.
-
Brother Jim: I thank God I've not ran into one person that said that I
-
Brother Jim: don't need no saving.
-
Brother Jim: I can handle life on my own.
-
Brother Jim: Now I have heard that one.
-
Brother Jim: And unfortunately I was a
-
Brother Jim: knucklehead that said that
-
Brother Jim: myself.
-
Brother Jim: Way past way back in the day.
-
Brother Jim: Uh. What a knucklehead.
-
Brother Jim: I was still a knucklehead at times.
-
Brother Jim: But salvation begins when we humble ourselves before God.
-
Brother Jim: Pride says I can save myself.
-
Brother Jim: Face says I need a Savior.
-
Brother Jim: The cross reminds us that none of us could save ourselves.
-
Brother Jim: And that is why Jesus Christ had to come.
-
Brother Jim: God seen it.
-
Brother Jim: God loves us enough.
-
Brother Jim: He knew we weren't getting it done.
-
Brother Jim: He had to send his son.
-
Brother Jim: Now some miss heaven because they ignore God's invitation.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, you ever get an invitation and toss it in the trash?
-
David: Hey. Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Oh my goodness, I've got a lot of invitations here because it's
-
Brother Jim: the month or so of graduation.
-
Brother Jim: Actually got a good one here a little bit.
-
Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.
-
Brother Jim: Invitations.
-
Brother Jim: Wedding invitations.
-
Brother Jim: I love those David, your third cousin that you've never met.
-
Brother Jim: Except once we invite you to come celebrate the union of.
-
David: And give.
-
Brother Jim: You.
-
David: And bring gifts.
-
Brother Jim: And bring gifts cards right here.
-
Brother Jim: Thank you.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Thank you very much.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: You ever think about that?
-
Brother Jim: Have you ignored an invitation?
-
Brother Jim: God can.
-
Brother Jim: I'm sorry.
-
Brother Jim: I'm just thinking about all the stuff you get in the mail.
-
Brother Jim: Invitations to join this, invitations to join that.
-
Brother Jim: We ignore invitations.
-
Brother Jim: But how many of us ignore God's invitation?
-
Brother Jim: God continually calls people toward him through sermons,
-
Brother Jim: through Scripture, through conviction, through hardship,
-
Brother Jim: through other believers.
-
Brother Jim: God speaks, but many ignore his invitation until, unfortunately,
-
Brother Jim: it is too late.
-
Brother Jim: One of the most heartbreaking verses is found in Hebrew.
-
Brother Jim: Hebrews three fifteen.
-
Brother Jim: Today if you will hear his
-
Brother Jim: voice, do not harden your
-
Brother Jim: hearts.
-
Brother Jim: Tomorrow, as we just stated, tomorrow is not promised.
-
Brother Jim: But there is good news, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: Even though many miss Heaven,
-
Brother Jim: God's desire is still to save
-
Brother Jim: people.
-
Brother Jim: God is merciful.
-
Brother Jim: God is patient.
-
Brother Jim: God is loving.
-
Brother Jim: Jesus Christ died on the cross.
-
Brother Jim: So sinners like you and me could be forgiven.
-
Brother Jim: No one.
-
Brother Jim: No one is too broken to come to him.
-
Brother Jim: And if you don't believe that, call me.
-
Brother Jim: Look me up and I will tell you.
-
Brother Jim: Personal experience of myself.
-
Brother Jim: How broken.
-
Brother Jim: What a mess I was.
-
Brother Jim: But Jesus did not.
-
Brother Jim: Even though I turn my back on
-
Brother Jim: God, God did not turn his back
-
Brother Jim: on me.
-
Brother Jim: And I am so thankful for that.
-
Brother Jim: I was broken, I was lost.
-
Brother Jim: And guess what?
-
Brother Jim: Being a stubborn mule, He gently, as a father loved me,
-
Brother Jim: brought me back into the fold.
-
Brother Jim: Again, no one is too broken to come to him.
-
Brother Jim: The door of Grace is still open today.
-
Brother Jim: Let me challenge you.
-
Brother Jim: If heaven is real and it is.
-
Brother Jim: And if hell is real and it is, then nothing matters more than
-
Brother Jim: where we stand with Jesus Christ in this life today, right now.
-
Brother Jim: Where do you stand with Jesus Christ?
-
Brother Jim: Not with the world, not with
-
Brother Jim: this, not with that, with Jesus
-
Brother Jim: Christ.
-
Brother Jim: Do not.
-
Brother Jim: Do not assume salvation.
-
Brother Jim: Do not rely on religion alone.
-
Brother Jim: Do not rely on your pastor.
-
Brother Jim: And I say that with love because and I've said this to my church,
-
Brother Jim: I will fail you.
-
Brother Jim: I don't want to, but I will because I'm human.
-
Brother Jim: I'm of the flesh.
-
Brother Jim: So don't rely on religion alone.
-
Brother Jim: Do not wait for some day come to
-
Brother Jim: Jesus Christ while there is
-
Brother Jim: still time.
-
Brother Jim: Because the greatest loss a person could ever experience is
-
Brother Jim: to gain the whole world and still miss heaven.
-
Brother Jim: Well, my friends, that just about does it for this.
-
Brother Jim: Thursday, June fourth, twenty twenty six.
-
Brother Jim: Mr. David, my dear, dear friend, any closing thoughts or comments
-
Brother Jim: before we wrap this thing up?
-
David: I've heard it said before and it
-
David: might have been your father in
-
David: law who said it way back when I
-
David: was in junior church, that
-
David: people can miss heaven and
-
David: usually do miss heaven by twelve
-
David: inches.
-
David: The distance from your head to your heart.
-
David: You know it.
-
Brother Jim: You know.
-
David: It. But you don't have it in your heart.
-
David: And I think that's I think that's very true.
-
David: Knowing it doesn't get you into heaven, you need to accept it.
-
David: Accept Jesus into your heart.
-
Brother Jim: I knew an atheist, very educated
-
Brother Jim: man, knew the Bible front and
-
Brother Jim: backwards.
-
Brother Jim: He knew it, wouldn't accept it.
-
Brother Jim: And unless on his final breath.
-
Brother Jim: You know he's in hell.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Now, that might sound brutal, but.
-
Brother Jim: And again, I pray.
-
Brother Jim: And that's where the Holy Spirit
-
Brother Jim: comes in, that maybe in those
-
Brother Jim: final moments, he realized with
-
Brother Jim: impending doom, as you mentioned
-
Brother Jim: earlier.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, that maybe I was wrong and I need Jesus.
-
Brother Jim: And that is the great thing.
-
Brother Jim: Again, it doesn't matter about works, does it, David?
-
Brother Jim: It doesn't matter what you've done in the past, that last
-
Brother Jim: second, you still have hope.
-
Brother Jim: Hope again, twelve inches.
-
Brother Jim: Remember that.
-
Brother Jim: How about you?
-
Brother Jim: Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
-
Brother Jim: It's not hard, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: It's not bad.
-
Brother Jim: You're going to have the time of your life.
-
Brother Jim: And I'm going to tell you this.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, you still have problems, right, David?
-
Brother Jim: Absolutely.
-
Brother Jim: I've yet to see a commandment that says thou shalt not have
-
Brother Jim: any problems if you accept Christ, but you got someone who
-
Brother Jim: will never leave you.
-
Brother Jim: No one who will ever forsake
-
Brother Jim: you, and no one who will let you
-
Brother Jim: down.
-
Brother Jim: Think about it.
-
Brother Jim: And to all our friends listening this morning, please remember
-
Brother Jim: this before you go.
-
Brother Jim: You.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, you.
-
Brother Jim: You have meaning.
-
Brother Jim: You have value.
-
Brother Jim: And most of all, you are loved.
-
Brother Jim: Never forget that God created you with purpose.
-
Brother Jim: And again.
-
Brother Jim: And it kills me.
-
Brother Jim: It kills me that people take their life every day because
-
Brother Jim: this world is better because you are in it.
-
Brother Jim: If you're struggling, if you're at the bottom, there is no hope.
-
Brother Jim: Reach out, contact me, call me, get Ahold of David because we
-
Brother Jim: care and we want you here.
-
Brother Jim: May God continue to bless you,
-
Brother Jim: guide you, strengthen you, and
-
Brother Jim: walk beside you through every
-
Brother Jim: moment of this day and me and
-
Brother Jim: you and I never, ever forget to
-
Brother Jim: continue to thank our Lord above
-
Brother Jim: for all the blessings we so many
-
Brother Jim: times take for granted each and
-
Brother Jim: every day.
-
Brother Jim: So wherever life takes you
-
Brother Jim: today, keep smiling, keep
-
Brother Jim: believing.
-
Brother Jim: Keep on loving and keep.
-
Brother Jim: Most of all, keep trusting God.
-
Brother Jim: And remember this my friends.
-
Brother Jim: We will smile if we meet again.
-
Brother Jim: We'll smile and we'll rejoice together.
-
Brother Jim: And if not, at the very least, then this party.
-
Brother Jim: It was well made.
-
Brother Jim: Thank you for joining David and
-
Brother Jim: myself here on Bible bibs and a
-
Brother Jim: prayer.
-
Brother Jim: Happy trails to you and your family.
-
Brother Jim: Until next time.
-
Brother Jim: This is the big guy, Brother Jim.
-
Brother Jim: Out.
