Brother Jim: traffic wondering what day it is and why you're headed and where

Brother Jim: you are headed.

Brother Jim: Oh, did I remember my glasses?

Brother Jim: Yeah, they're right on top of your head.

Brother Jim: Happens to me a lot, folks.

Brother Jim: It doesn't matter.

Brother Jim: We are thankful that you.

Brother Jim: questions man and wife has to

Brother Jim: conquer.

Brother Jim: What do you want to eat?

Brother Jim: What do you want for dinner and where would you like to go?

Brother Jim: Yep.

Brother Jim: I don't care where do you want to go?

Brother Jim: And no matter what the man chooses it, it usually seems to

Brother Jim: be the wrong choice.

Brother Jim: Yep.

Brother Jim: So. But, hey, let's you and I

Brother Jim: Let us thank God for another day that we are blessed to be alive.

David: That'd go pretty bad.

Brother Jim: How is life in Kernersville?

David: It's good.

David: I, you know, continuing the

David: summertime is, is ongoing

David: maintenance around the house,

David: right?

David: You got to get the landscaping cleaned up.

David: And this past week, the bushes needed a trim.

David: So I got out the good old hedge trimmers.

David: I've had these hedge trimmers for years.

David: I use them like twice a year and three poles fired up, just like

David: they always do.

David: And then about five minutes in,

David: burp, burp, burp, burp stalled

David: out.

David: And then I pulled and I pulled

David: and I pulled and I pulled, I got

David: a blister.

Brother Jim: Oh, dude.

David: And, uh, just wouldn't start.

David: So I gave it thirty minutes.

David: And sure enough, after thirty minutes, she fired up again.

David: So I heard it finished up what I needed to do.

David: But it's always something, right?

David: I hate, I hate to cycle gas stuff, I hate it.

Brother Jim: Yes. So it is.

Brother Jim: It is a challenge and it will test your faith.

Brother Jim: It will.

Brother Jim: And your patience it will.

Brother Jim: And your anger.

Brother Jim: Uh.

David: Management.

Brother Jim: Management?

Brother Jim: Yes. Hey, at least you didn't

Brother Jim: chuck it across into the

Brother Jim: neighbor's yard.

Brother Jim: No, that is a bonus point for you right there.

David: I did look into buying a new one, and the only reason I

David: didn't was because Lowe's didn't have any in stock, so otherwise

David: I'd probably have a new one.

Brother Jim: But yes.

Brother Jim: Isn't it funny how we do that now we just get to the point.

Brother Jim: Ah forget it.

Brother Jim: I'm about to go buy a new one.

David: Well, I mean, I did the same thing with my my leaf blower and

David: my my weed whacker.

David: I got tired of the two cycle

David: stuff and just went all battery

David: on them.

David: Yeah.

David: Didn't regret it.

David: So might as well do the hedge trimmers.

David: Well, they didn't have them.

Brother Jim: So yeah, I've learned I just use the old weed whacker.

David: Yeah, yeah that works.

Brother Jim: Let it fly everywhere and clean it up later.

Brother Jim: If not it's a mulch.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: So now I can't stand that.

Brother Jim: So yes.

Brother Jim: Anything else going on?

Brother Jim: No. Little birdie told me you're on vacation.

David: Yeah, I'm on vacation this week.

David: We're gonna go to Monster Jam this Saturday, so the boys are

David: looking forward to that.

David: We'll get covered in dust and dirt.

Brother Jim: You have to do a little video.

Brother Jim: Maybe if you can.

Brother Jim: how people can lift you up and how people can just kick you

Brother Jim: right in the knee and destroy.

Brother Jim: Remember, when you build a

Brother Jim: building or a bridge and

Brother Jim: somebody come along and knock it

Brother Jim: down?

Brother Jim: Or maybe you were the kid that knocked it down.

Brother Jim: Why?

Brother Jim: Why, David?

David: Some people just like to watch the world burn.

Brother Jim: Yes. Yes. Are you one of those people?

Brother Jim: Don't do it.

Brother Jim: Or if you have something to say.

Brother Jim: For goodness sake, say it at the appropriate time.

Brother Jim: It's like, you know, a birthday party.

Brother Jim: And when you have Jesus, you have everything you truly need.

Brother Jim: Plus, you've got David and

Brother Jim: myself, along with the entire

Brother Jim: barnyard cheering you on along

Brother Jim: the way.

Brother Jim: And David, I might have the inside track.

Brother Jim: I'm going to make a phone call this week for an alligator.

David: Oh, boy.

Brother Jim: Oh, yeah.

Brother Jim: And he's a biggie.

Brother Jim: Actually there's two.

Brother Jim: So if I can get the pair, that would be sweet.

Brother Jim: Nice.

Brother Jim: Yes, but we might have a nice alligator.

Brother Jim: I'm gonna try.

Brother Jim: But above all else, you are loved by Jesus.

Brother Jim: Apologizing for the mishap, the floors finally got the business

Brother Jim: woman to calm down with the reminder that in some funeral

Brother Jim: home stood an arrangement bearing the words good luck in

Brother Jim: your new location.

David: It's all.

Brother Jim: How.

David: You look at it.

David: That's right.

David: Perspective.

Brother Jim: Now, our thought of the day, the greatest way to overcome a curse

Brother Jim: in this world is by serving God.

Brother Jim: hundred and fifty years for our

Brother Jim: nation.

Brother Jim: David.

David: Yep.

Brother Jim: That means a lot.

Brother Jim: Our freedom, our freedom, our freedom.

Brother Jim: Now we have freedom.

Brother Jim: And I, you know, I myself take

Brother Jim: that freedom for granted every

Brother Jim: day.

Brother Jim: It just becomes the course of life.

Brother Jim: We never have to think about it because we've been so blessed

Brother Jim: here in this country.

Brother Jim: But what about appreciating our freedom in America?

Brother Jim: As followers of Jesus Christ?

Brother Jim: Now in Scripture, Galatians five one tells us it is freedom that

Brother Jim: Christ has set us free.

Brother Jim: Stand firm then, and do not let

Brother Jim: yourself be burdened by a yoke

Brother Jim: of slavery.

Brother Jim: Oh, am I allowed to say that word?

David: I think so.

Brother Jim: Okay, well, it's funny on some shows you can't even say it's

Brother Jim: funny what they blurb out now.

Brother Jim: It's like, really?

David: I'm the executive producer.

David: I say, it's okay.

Brother Jim: All right, there we go, folks.

Brother Jim: You've heard it from the man

Brother Jim: himself, the one you all voted

Brother Jim: for.

Brother Jim: He says yes.

Brother Jim: Now we will soon gather.

Brother Jim: We are reminded of a great blessing that many people around

Brother Jim: the world long for.

Brother Jim: Yes, even maybe even some of our

Brother Jim: viewers joining us from all over

Brother Jim: the world.

Brother Jim: And yes, they do the blessing of freedom.

Brother Jim: As Americans, we enjoy freedoms that countless others have

Brother Jim: sacrificed to protect.

Brother Jim: We had the freedom to worship, the freedom to speak, the

Brother Jim: freedom to assemble, and the freedom to openly proclaim the

Brother Jim: name of Jesus Christ.

Brother Jim: And I'm going to throw in two.

Brother Jim: We got the right.

Brother Jim: The freedom to bear arm America.

Brother Jim: These freedoms should never be taken for granted.

Brother Jim: Yes, as Christians, we

Brother Jim: understand there is a freedom

Brother Jim: even greater than political

Brother Jim: freedom.

Brother Jim: The greatest freedom over the

Brother Jim: greatest freedom ever given was

Brother Jim: purchased not on a battlefield

Brother Jim: by soldiers, but on a cross by

Brother Jim: one man.

Brother Jim: Today, let us consider both the blessing of our national freedom

Brother Jim: and even greater blessings of our freedom in Christ.

Brother Jim: Number one, freedom is a gift.

Brother Jim: Yes, it is purchased by sacrifice.

Brother Jim: Freedom has never been free.

Brother Jim: Throughout American history, brave men and women have served,

Brother Jim: sacrificed, and even laid down their own lives so future

Brother Jim: generations could enjoy liberty.

Brother Jim: What we have right now, Jesus said in John fifteen thirteen,

Brother Jim: greater love has no one more than this to lay down one's life

Brother Jim: for one's friends.

Brother Jim: When we honor those who served our nation, we recognize the

Brother Jim: price that was paid.

Brother Jim: And for this country, there has always been a great price.

Brother Jim: Likewise, our spiritual freedom came at a tremendous cost.

Brother Jim: And this is where we take that for granted as well.

Brother Jim: Jesus and Jesus alone willingly gave his life on the cross.

Brother Jim: He bore our sins he suffered in your place.

Brother Jim: He suffered in my place.

Brother Jim: He suffered in David's place.

Brother Jim: He died so that we.

Brother Jim: That means you could live.

Brother Jim: The freedom we enjoy as

Brother Jim: Christians was purchased by

Brother Jim: blood again by the blood of

Brother Jim: Jesus Christ.

Brother Jim: Whenever we celebrate freedom, let us remind us.

Brother Jim: Let it remind us this freedom that we celebrate of the Savior

Brother Jim: who paid the ultimate price for our eternal freedom.

Brother Jim: Yes, we have freedom on this earth, but one day our time

Brother Jim: comes to an end.

Brother Jim: What about our eternal freedom?

Brother Jim: What about your eternal freedom?

Brother Jim: Number two, we are blessed to worship freely.

Brother Jim: Many believers throughout the

Brother Jim: world gather in secret some risk

Brother Jim: imprisonment.

Brother Jim: David, have you ever been thrown in jail for coming to church?

Brother Jim: Nope, neither have I. Boy, that's a good one, isn't it?

Brother Jim: Yep.

Brother Jim: Here's the question.

Brother Jim: If we ran that risk, would we come?

Brother Jim: Mhm.

David: Mhm.

Brother Jim: Yeah. Others face persecution, which we're starting to see a

Brother Jim: little bit here and there.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: A little bit.

Brother Jim: Other countries are facing a lot more.

Brother Jim: Some may never openly own a Bible.

Brother Jim: Oh, David, it's hard enough to get people to bring their Bible,

Brother Jim: even with freedom to church or to open it.

Brother Jim: So yeah.

Brother Jim: Another thing we take for granted.

Brother Jim: Yet many of us have multiple

Brother Jim: Bibles sitting on our shelves

Brother Jim: collecting dust.

Brother Jim: How about your Bible?

Brother Jim: Well, how about mine?

Brother Jim: We can gather publicly.

Brother Jim: Yes we can.

Brother Jim: We can sing openly.

Brother Jim: Yes we can.

Brother Jim: We can preach the gospel without fear.

Brother Jim: Hey, you got freedom, religion.

Brother Jim: You can preach whatever you want in this country.

Brother Jim: Uh, I did notice Russia put the

Brother Jim: kibosh on, uh, the Satanic

Brother Jim: church.

Brother Jim: David.

Brother Jim: MM. You can't you can't get up

Brother Jim: and promote your, uh, with that

Brother Jim: one.

David: Shocking.

Brother Jim: You know?

Brother Jim: Yeah. Putin's another fanatic, and this is just my own opinion,

Brother Jim: but Russia does have some.

Brother Jim: They take a stand on some things

Brother Jim: I like, you know, and now you

Brother Jim: might say, well, Jim, that was a

Brother Jim: communist country at one time

Brother Jim: regime.

Brother Jim: Yes, I agree, but there are some things I kind of like.

Brother Jim: Uh, but again, okay, we're crossing that line if you take

Brother Jim: that away from this group, who's next to follow?

Brother Jim: Yeah, I like this.

Brother Jim: A long time ago, there was an attorney in it was either

Brother Jim: Michigan or California wanted to do away with Oreos because Oreos

Brother Jim: are not good for us.

David: Okay.

Brother Jim: And it got shot down.

Brother Jim: But what if Oreos?

Brother Jim: Okay, there's a ban on Oreos.

Brother Jim: I would be upset because I do like the occasional Oreo, but

Brother Jim: then what about Twinkies?

Brother Jim: Yeah, what about hostess cupcakes?

David: Didn't they try to ban trans fats at one point in time?

David: Yes.

Brother Jim: We opened the door.

Brother Jim: If you can't do it well, then what about, you know, look.

Brother Jim: Look at how our country has progressed in taking away

Brother Jim: freedoms, per se.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Quietly and slowly.

Brother Jim: It's happening.

Brother Jim: Yep.

Brother Jim: And that's the problem.

Brother Jim: We're so blessed with all the trinkets.

Brother Jim: I had a book.

Brother Jim: Uh, you ever read the mutiny?

Brother Jim: Uh, Mutiny on the bounty.

Brother Jim: On the bounty?

Brother Jim: Okay.

Brother Jim: But, uh, again, they would take

Brother Jim: when they were out exploring

Brother Jim: back in the day with the big old

Brother Jim: Islands where they would take

Brother Jim: trinkets for the islanders to

Brother Jim: exchange for, you know,

Brother Jim: different things.

Brother Jim: Isn't that what we kind of have now?

Brother Jim: Trinkets?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: To keep us so occupied, keep us so busy.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Number one, the cell phone, trinkets, apps, followers.

Brother Jim: David, are you influencing today?

Brother Jim: If we're not careful, our freedoms can slowly disappear

Brother Jim: without us even noticing it.

Brother Jim: Because we are so engulfed with our trinkets.

Brother Jim: And I wonder who's behind that so many times, David.

Brother Jim: Could it be Satan himself

Brother Jim: keeping us occupied, keeping us

Brother Jim: out of the word, keeping us out

Brother Jim: of church.

Brother Jim: Uh, David, I'd love to be in church today, but I got a golf

Brother Jim: tee time at eight o'clock.

Brother Jim: Yep.

Brother Jim: Oh, the fish are hitting today.

Brother Jim: Or biting.

Brother Jim: Gotta get out there, brother.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: Uh, David, my my grass grew in half an inch.

Brother Jim: Let's be honest.

Brother Jim: Excuses are like backsides.

Brother Jim: Everybody's got one.

Brother Jim: But getting back to it.

Brother Jim: Gospel without fear.

Brother Jim: We can preach the gospel without fear.

Brother Jim: And that is a blessing.

Brother Jim: The question is not whether we have freedom.

Brother Jim: The question is whether we are using that freedom to God's

Brother Jim: glory to glorify him.

Brother Jim: How many Christians throughout history love to have love?

Brother Jim: Would love to have the opportunities we have today.

Brother Jim: Think about good old Billy Graham.

Brother Jim: Oh man, what a saint.

Brother Jim: What he did in his lifetime.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Boy. Uh. Stadiums.

Brother Jim: Boy, that took a long time to get that word.

Brother Jim: Stadiums were filled.

Brother Jim: Yeah, people came by the masses.

Brother Jim: Now, I'm not knocking technology

Brother Jim: because we're using it right

Brother Jim: here.

Brother Jim: And it's a great thing.

Brother Jim: But yet, when we become so complacent and lazy and that's

Brother Jim: what it is, that we can just do everything on our phone and sit

Brother Jim: there, is there not fellowship?

Brother Jim: Is there not joy coming and seeing people?

Brother Jim: Now I understand some people health issues.

Brother Jim: I'm not talking about them, I understand that.

Brother Jim: But when we when we substitute technology for.

Brother Jim: I'm perfectly healthy to get up and go to church this morning.

Brother Jim: Yeah, I'm healthy enough to get

Brother Jim: up and read my Bible this

Brother Jim: morning.

Brother Jim: I have the ability to pray.

Brother Jim: Mhm.

Brother Jim: You know, have you ever seen that one?

Brother Jim: Dude, he is a, uh.

Brother Jim: I'm gonna call him an evangelist.

Brother Jim: He's Australian, doesn't have any legs.

Brother Jim: Arms.

Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.

Brother Jim: And he preaches he he's got like

Brother Jim: a, a limb, but it's not a truly

Brother Jim: formed arm.

Brother Jim: But man, he's up there.

Brother Jim: He's glorifying God.

Brother Jim: I get up there and complain about backaches, right?

Brother Jim: This dude's up there preaching.

Brother Jim: He's telling about what God has done for him.

Brother Jim: Now, any of us would look at him like, oh my goodness, you don't

Brother Jim: have no feet.

Brother Jim: You don't have no arms.

Brother Jim: He's got a spirit.

Brother Jim: He's got a mouth.

Brother Jim: And what's he doing with that?

Brother Jim: He is glorifying God.

Brother Jim: Don't look at me.

Brother Jim: Look at my God.

Brother Jim: Look at how he's using me.

Brother Jim: Oh, that kind of steps on some toes.

Brother Jim: May we never become so accustomed to our freedom that

Brother Jim: we fail to appreciate it.

Brother Jim: Hello, America.

Brother Jim: Freedom number three.

Brother Jim: Freedom comes with responsibility.

Brother Jim: There's a big word.

Brother Jim: Responsibility.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: You and I are responsible.

Brother Jim: Freedom is not permission to do whatever we want.

Brother Jim: Oh, but, David, what's the world tell us?

Brother Jim: What's our society tells David?

Brother Jim: Do whatever you want to do to make you happy, right?

David: That's right.

Brother Jim: Yes. Paul writes in Galatians five thirteen, you, my brothers

Brother Jim: and sisters, are called.

Brother Jim: We're called to be free, but do not use your freedom to indulge.

Brother Jim: Oh, to indulge the flesh.

Brother Jim: Rather serve one another humbly in love.

Brother Jim: As Americans, we have so many freedoms as Christians.

Brother Jim: Oh, here it comes, David.

Brother Jim: We have responsibilities.

Brother Jim: We are called to love God, love our neighbors, share the gospel,

Brother Jim: care for those in need, live lives that honor Christ.

Brother Jim: Freedom is not merely something

Brother Jim: to enjoy, it is something to

Brother Jim: stored wisely.

Brother Jim: God has entrusted you and I with opportunities that previous

Brother Jim: generations fought to preserve.

Brother Jim: Never forget that the greatest

Brother Jim: American freedom is freedom from

Brother Jim: sin.

Brother Jim: And what do we do?

Brother Jim: This is just brothers Jim opinion.

Brother Jim: We've left the door wide open for sin to come in to our

Brother Jim: families, our schools, our businesses, our governments.

Brother Jim: Yes, Americans.

Brother Jim: Do you see that, my friends?

Brother Jim: America offers many freedoms,

Brother Jim: but no nation can free a soul

Brother Jim: from sin.

Brother Jim: You mean not even the United States.

Brother Jim: David, we can free souls from sin with all the trillions and

Brother Jim: trillions of dollars were in debt and all the military and

Brother Jim: all this and that.

David: Nope.

Brother Jim: Wow. Let me I don't understand.

David: The head scratcher.

David: We're going to turn that around now.

Brother Jim: Woo!

Brother Jim: We're getting into it.

Brother Jim: Many people are politically free but spiritually enslaved.

Brother Jim: And I'm going to add a word.

Brother Jim: Our spiritually dead.

Brother Jim: Dead.

Brother Jim: They are trapped by guilt.

Brother Jim: Bound by addiction, controlled by anger, consumed by fear,

Brother Jim: separated from God.

Brother Jim: And you know what?

Brother Jim: I'm going to say this.

Brother Jim: You can agree or not agree, but we're just downright lazy.

Brother Jim: We become complacent and we don't want to move off our

Brother Jim: chairs or couches, put our phones down, do whatever.

Brother Jim: True.

Brother Jim: Riddle me that.

Brother Jim: I think I might have just a little bit of a point there.

Brother Jim: Jesus declared in John eight

Brother Jim: thirty six, so if the son sets

Brother Jim: you free, you will be free

Brother Jim: indeed.

Brother Jim: That is real freedom, my friends.

Brother Jim: Real freedom.

Brother Jim: Freedom from condemnation.

Brother Jim: Freedom from shame.

Brother Jim: Freedom from the penalty of sin.

Brother Jim: Freedom to become the person God created us to be.

Brother Jim: We should thank God for our

Brother Jim: nation even if we are upset with

Brother Jim: our nation.

Brother Jim: If we don't like who the president is, who the governor

Brother Jim: is, blah blah blah.

Brother Jim: Be thankful for our nation and

Brother Jim: for those who serve, for the

Brother Jim: freedoms we enjoy, for the

Brother Jim: churches we can attend for the

Brother Jim: Bibles we can openly and freely

Brother Jim: read.

Brother Jim: For the gospel we can proclaim.

Brother Jim: But gratitude must lead to action.

Brother Jim: Our freedom should motivate us to live boldly for Christ, to

Brother Jim: worship passionately, to serve faithfully, to love generously,

Brother Jim: and to share the hope of Jesus with a world that desperately,

Brother Jim: desperately needs him.

Brother Jim: You know, a man once kept an old

Brother Jim: ward excuse me a kept an old,

Brother Jim: worn American flag folded in a

Brother Jim: special box.

Brother Jim: Someone asked him, why do you treasure that flag so much?

Brother Jim: It's old and faded.

Brother Jim: The man replied, because a friend of mine died protecting

Brother Jim: what that flag represents.

Brother Jim: Friends, when we look at the

Brother Jim: cross, we should remember

Brother Jim: something similar.

Brother Jim: The cross reminds us that

Brother Jim: someone died to secure our

Brother Jim: freedom.

Brother Jim: Not merely earthly freedom, but eternal freedom.

Brother Jim: Jesus and Jesus alone gave everything so that we might be

Brother Jim: forgiven, redeemed, and welcomed into God's family.

Brother Jim: Today and every day, my friends, let us be thankful for the

Brother Jim: freedom we enjoy as Americans.

Brother Jim: Let us honor those who

Brother Jim: sacrificed to preserve those

Brother Jim: freedoms.

Brother Jim: But above all, let us celebrate the freedom found in Jesus

Brother Jim: Christ for one day.

Brother Jim: Yes, earthly freedoms may fade.

Brother Jim: Nations may rise and fall.

Brother Jim: Governments will change.

Brother Jim: But the freedom purchased by Christ will last forever.

Brother Jim: So stand tall, be grateful.

Brother Jim: Live faithfully, and never

Brother Jim: forget the greatest freedom is

Brother Jim: not the freedom to do what we

Brother Jim: want.

Brother Jim: The greatest freedom is the freedom to become what God

Brother Jim: created us to be through Christ and Christ alone.

Brother Jim: So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Brother Jim: Well, my friends, that just about does it for this.

David: This isn't just something that

David: it's historically documented on

David: Constitutional Convention, Ben

David: Franklin came out and a woman

David: asked him, well, doctor, what

David: have you given us, a republic or

David: a democracy?

David: And Ben Franklin replied, A republic, if you can keep it.

David: Oh, and there's a lot of wisdom there like.

David: And I would argue that it's it's hanging by a thread.

Brother Jim: If you keep.

David: It. If if we don't stay on the wall, if we don't keep the

David: watch, if we don't do the things and we're lazy, we have no one

David: to blame but ourselves for the situation we find ourselves in.

David: Yes, it's up to us to get it back.

Brother Jim: Yes, we've become complacent.

Brother Jim: Yeah. Do we really care?

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Do we really care as Americans.

Brother Jim: Until it's gone?

Brother Jim: Until it's gone?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: I don't know, my friends.

Brother Jim: It's like this empty Mountain Dew bottle.

Brother Jim: She's gone now.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Maybe I should have sipped it a little slower.

Brother Jim: Maybe I should have enjoyed it a little more.

Brother Jim: Savored the taste.

Brother Jim: Because once it's gone.

Brother Jim: It's gone.

Brother Jim: I pray that our children and grandchildren never see that.

Brother Jim: It's our responsibility.

Brother Jim: Right now, our job to make sure that does not happen.
