-
Singer: Still strong, still faith.
-
Singer: Bible bends and pray let it rise
-
Singer: through the air Two hundred and
-
Singer: fifty years.
-
Singer: We're still here.
-
Brother Jim: Hey, yo, that's the best Rocky Balboa I can do.
-
Brother Jim: But.
-
Brother Jim: Hey, you.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, you.
-
Brother Jim: May I have your attention, please?
-
Brother Jim: How you doing today?
-
Brother Jim: Now, here's the cool thing.
-
Brother Jim: Allow myself, along with my bestie in the world, to brighten
-
Brother Jim: your day just a little bit.
-
Brother Jim: Because, friends, it is time.
-
Brother Jim: It is time for Bible bibs and prayer.
-
Brother Jim: Whether you're driving down the road, sitting at your desk,
-
Brother Jim: mowing the lawn, working around the house, going out to buy
-
Brother Jim: fireworks are the smell now.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: I can smell those fuses burning.
-
Brother Jim: I yes, or going out to see why that firecracker did not go off.
-
Brother Jim: Are you brave enough or wouldn't you got the little fuse about?
-
Brother Jim: Yay!
-
Brother Jim: Long to light it again.
-
Brother Jim: Ah, how about it, folks?
-
Brother Jim: Pretending to work while secretly, yes, secretly
-
Brother Jim: listening to us.
-
Brother Jim: I challenge you right now.
-
Brother Jim: Crank it, crank it up, and let
-
Brother Jim: it flow throughout the office or
-
Brother Jim: wherever you're at in the
-
Brother Jim: warehouse.
-
Brother Jim: And let everybody listen to us.
-
Brother Jim: And I am sure you'll be getting
-
Brother Jim: called into HR, whether now it's
-
Brother Jim: not on us, whether you get a
-
Brother Jim: raise, a promotion, or you get
-
Brother Jim: fired.
-
Brother Jim: But hey, it's all good.
-
Brother Jim: We're grateful that you have come.
-
Brother Jim: You've made the choice to spend
-
Brother Jim: a little bit of time with us
-
Brother Jim: today.
-
Brother Jim: Now, the goal of Bible and
-
Brother Jim: prayer is always is actually
-
Brother Jim: very simple.
-
Brother Jim: Kind of again, I can't get around this one like, well, I
-
Brother Jim: gotta take that back.
-
Brother Jim: David just had a brilliant idea.
-
Brother Jim: Me I'm still, it's like he's walking and I'm still crawling.
-
Brother Jim: So but this is a cool idea, which hopefully you'll see
-
Brother Jim: coming down the road here.
-
Brother Jim: But anyway, we want to talk about God's Word, encourage one
-
Brother Jim: another in our faith.
-
Brother Jim: Share a few laughs and hopefully leave you a little lead.
-
Brother Jim: You, leave you whatever it takes.
-
Brother Jim: A little closer to Jesus than when you started listening to
-
Brother Jim: these two awesome dudes.
-
Brother Jim: Life can be hard.
-
Brother Jim: The world can be noisy, but
-
Brother Jim: God's truth remains the same, my
-
Brother Jim: friend.
-
Brother Jim: So grab your coffee, your tea,
-
Brother Jim: whatever that rocket fuel you'll
-
Brother Jim: need today.
-
Brother Jim: And I found this can of.
-
Brother Jim: I've never had it.
-
Brother Jim: Starry lemon lime.
-
David: I think it replaced the other one that they got rid of.
-
Brother Jim: But I heard the story.
-
David: So it's not bad.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, it's not bad.
-
Brother Jim: It's not bad.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, and Brother Jim's trying to calm down his stomach here.
-
Brother Jim: And I will tell you the story here in just a few.
-
Brother Jim: So grab whatever you need this morning to fuel your body.
-
Brother Jim: Grab your Bible.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, yes.
-
Brother Jim: Grab your Bible.
-
Brother Jim: Buckle up.
-
Brother Jim: Hold on tight, and let's get ready to hit the road.
-
Brother Jim: Fast and furious because we're ready.
-
Brother Jim: Here we are.
-
Brother Jim: Ready now for another great day to start.
-
Brother Jim: This is Bible babes in prayer where faith is real, laughter is
-
Brother Jim: welcome, and Jesus is always the center of the conversation.
-
Brother Jim: So let's get started.
-
Brother Jim: Spend.
-
Brother Jim: Spend just a little bit of time with us this morning, laughing
-
Brother Jim: and learning and growing together in Christ.
-
Brother Jim: And you know what?
-
Brother Jim: We we all walk the same walk basically life very serious.
-
Brother Jim: Our time is stretched.
-
Brother Jim: We do things that we don't want to do, we're required to do.
-
Brother Jim: But you know what?
-
Brother Jim: We can make it through with a little faith, a little laughter,
-
Brother Jim: and a whole lot of grace.
-
Brother Jim: Now, folks, why was the math book sad at church?
-
David: I don't know why.
-
Brother Jim: It had too many problems.
-
Brother Jim: That was bad.
-
Brother Jim: That was bad.
-
Brother Jim: And hey, being a dad means
-
Brother Jim: spending the first two years
-
Brother Jim: teaching your child to walk and
-
Brother Jim: talk, and then the next sixteen
-
Brother Jim: telling them to sit down and be
-
Brother Jim: quiet.
-
Brother Jim: I like that that's accurate.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, yes, it's double joke Thursday just for you.
-
Brother Jim: So come on, friends, let's turn
-
Brother Jim: this in from a conversation into
-
Brother Jim: an experience.
-
Brother Jim: What a blessing.
-
Brother Jim: Now you got the whole barnyard here.
-
Brother Jim: And again, we're working on adding some and, uh, hopefully
-
Brother Jim: our barnyard grows.
-
Brother Jim: You know, now we've been telling little jokes here, and I don't
-
Brother Jim: want to leave out Happy Lynn.
-
Brother Jim: Not Grumpy Lynn.
-
Brother Jim: Happy Lynn.
-
Brother Jim: What did the gorilla say after finishing a huge meal?
-
Brother Jim: Now that's a peeling.
-
Brother Jim: That's all I could find for gorilla jokes, guys.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Sorry.
-
Brother Jim: Wow.
-
Brother Jim: That really sets the mood up.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, so in saying all that, good morning to you, our friends.
-
Brother Jim: Good morning world.
-
Brother Jim: Let's take a moment and thank God for another beautiful day.
-
Brother Jim: Another breath.
-
Brother Jim: The breath we have in our lungs and another opportunity to grow,
-
Brother Jim: learn and try again.
-
Brother Jim: And for me, I'll keep trying with the dad jokes There again,
-
Brother Jim: you Google gorilla jokes.
-
Brother Jim: There's not that many.
-
David: I imagine not.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, because here on Bible and prayer, we do not just roll out
-
Brother Jim: of bed and survive the morning.
-
Brother Jim: Well, there are moments, but we started with gratitude.
-
Brother Jim: We started with good
-
Brother Jim: conversation and we started with
-
Brother Jim: positive energy and of course,
-
Brother Jim: some really bad jokes or
-
Brother Jim: questionable jokes.
-
Brother Jim: But that is what makes it fun.
-
Brother Jim: Now my co-host and partner in
-
Brother Jim: crime, my faithful co-host Mr.
-
Brother Jim: David Keener, is always with us
-
Brother Jim: as always, faithful because he
-
Brother Jim: keeps showing up and again, even
-
Brother Jim: knowing what he's getting
-
Brother Jim: himself into.
-
Brother Jim: Now, here's a new one for you.
-
Brother Jim: We are coming to you live from
-
Brother Jim: our world famous studio, which
-
Brother Jim: is really just a room in the
-
Brother Jim: basement.
-
Brother Jim: Two microphones and enough coffee.
-
Brother Jim: Well, Coke and.
-
Brother Jim: Sorry to keep you going.
-
Brother Jim: And again, with me is the only
-
Brother Jim: guy who thinks duct tape is a
-
Brother Jim: legitimate repair strategy for
-
Brother Jim: everything.
-
Brother Jim: And I oh, I agree with him
-
Brother Jim: tremendously on good old the
-
Brother Jim: uses.
-
Brother Jim: That would be a whole series right there.
-
Brother Jim: The uses of duct tape.
-
David: Mhm.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, yes.
-
Brother Jim: Please welcome my good friend and partner in podcasting crime,
-
Brother Jim: David, whose favorite line is those aren't pillows.
-
Brother Jim: Please welcome the one, the only Mr. David Keener.
-
Brother Jim: And he's not just a co-host.
-
Brother Jim: No, no, no, he is one of my best
-
Brother Jim: friends, my bestie bros for
-
Brother Jim: life.
-
Brother Jim: We need to get some bling for each.
-
David: Other.
-
Brother Jim: In the whole wide world.
-
Brother Jim: Mr. David Keener.
-
Brother Jim: Good morning sir.
-
David: Good morning.
-
David: How are we doing?
-
David: I don't know whether to laugh or
-
David: shake my head after the pillows
-
David: thing there.
-
Brother Jim: I was a little risque on that one.
-
Brother Jim: But dude, you can't get around that.
-
Brother Jim: That is just if you know what the movie is that that is bond.
-
David: Yes, yes.
-
Brother Jim: It's a little too much, right?
-
Brother Jim: Oh, see that bears game the other night?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Heck of a game.
-
Brother Jim: Heck of a game all the way this year.
-
David: Wonder if the ladies and gentlemen can comment if they
-
David: know what movie that's from.
-
Brother Jim: Yes. And it is a classic.
-
Brother Jim: It is, it is.
-
Brother Jim: And at the end, I am sorry.
-
Brother Jim: With this movie I still cry because when they play that
-
Brother Jim: song, when you see the certain someone all alone and they start
-
Brother Jim: playing every time you go away.
-
Brother Jim: Yep.
-
Brother Jim: Just get you right here.
-
Brother Jim: I don't care how tough you are.
-
David: That's right.
-
Brother Jim: Yes. What is going on in Carterville?
-
David: Not too much.
-
David: I was on this, uh, diabetes awareness website the other day,
-
David: and when I logged in, it asked if I accepted cookies.
-
David: And I thought to myself, is this a trick?
-
David: So.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, I'll take the cookies.
-
Brother Jim: Funny thing here, David.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Every once in a while, someone will leave me a treat.
-
David: Mhm.
-
Brother Jim: Usually a little bag of cookies or something.
-
Brother Jim: Now, some of the people that do it know that, hey, I only need a
-
Brother Jim: few instead of a whole dozen or two dozen, which really would be
-
Brother Jim: nice, but, you know, trying.
-
Brother Jim: And I am the first to admit a lot of times those do not make
-
Brother Jim: it home because I know what's going to happen.
-
Brother Jim: But Wednesday night, the wife and Ellie, our daughter, came up
-
Brother Jim: for Wednesday night service.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And guess what?
-
Brother Jim: They seen the cookies on the desk before I did.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, and guess what?
-
Brother Jim: If I would have heard somebody say something.
-
Brother Jim: Them cookies I never would have known about.
-
Brother Jim: Mhm.
-
Brother Jim: Mhm.
-
Brother Jim: Something going on at Rockford Church?
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
David: Something is afoot.
-
Brother Jim: Something's afoot.
-
Brother Jim: Yes. Anything else going on, man?
-
David: No.
-
Brother Jim: You got big plans for the Fourth of July?
-
David: I do, well, you know, I was just
-
David: thinking the other the other
-
David: day.
-
David: You know how you go to the store, like Target and Walmart
-
David: where they sell fireworks?
-
David: They're not real.
-
Brother Jim: Fireworks.
-
Brother Jim: That's a.
-
David: Joke. They got that sign stuck
-
David: in front of the door that says,
-
David: please do not light these within
-
David: three hundred feet of the front
-
David: door.
-
David: Now I'm the non-confrontational kind of guy.
-
David: I don't look to start trouble, but if I was, I've thought many
-
David: times, man, how cool would it be to measure out three hundred and
-
David: one feet and then just light them up like the fourth of July?
-
Brother Jim: Put a nice little piece of white duct tape or yellow duct tape
-
Brother Jim: down and say, no, no, no. Measure it, folks.
-
Brother Jim: It's three hundred one.
-
Brother Jim: I know I see the no smoking due to fireworks in the building.
-
David: I saw a good one too.
-
David: They had the again, the same
-
David: fireworks setup and right in
-
David: front of it, sitting right at
-
David: the base of the display was a
-
David: fire extinguisher, a live fire
-
David: extinguisher.
-
David: And I'm thinking to myself, if this thing is going up, are you
-
David: really going to get that close to be able to grab that fire
-
David: extinguisher and put it out?
-
David: I mean, it's literally right there touching it.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: So how many people really know
-
Brother Jim: the correct way to use a fire
-
Brother Jim: extinguisher?
-
David: Probably not that many.
-
Brother Jim: And that is the thing.
-
Brother Jim: And I went, well, you know what?
-
Brother Jim: We will celebrate fire safety in, uh, October, isn't it?
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: First week of October, and we'll go over that a little bit.
-
Brother Jim: Maybe I've got a couple extra cans.
-
David: We can do a demonstration.
-
Brother Jim: Yes. Yes. Pass. Pass the acronym.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: That would be a good one because everyone says, oh, I know how to
-
Brother Jim: do it until the time hits.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Apparently you didn't know how to do it because your face is
-
Brother Jim: now covered in white stuff.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Either that or you've been in the powdered donuts way too much
-
Brother Jim: and you got a problem, so.
-
Brother Jim: But, uh.
-
Brother Jim: Anything else?
-
Brother Jim: Oh, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Fourth of July.
-
David: Yeah. I don't know of any official plans that I have.
-
David: Uh, but, uh, you know, we
-
David: usually try and watch the
-
David: fireworks, but it depends on the
-
David: kid's mood.
-
David: Sometimes they want to go see him, sometimes they don't.
-
David: So we'll just kind of play it by ear.
-
Brother Jim: Fireworks. And I feel bad.
-
Brother Jim: There's another thing.
-
Brother Jim: Just talking about the last Tuesday's message.
-
Brother Jim: We're going fireworks this year.
-
Brother Jim: And I told Ellie, I've got like
-
Brother Jim: four totes filled with
-
Brother Jim: fireworks.
-
Brother Jim: I need to set them off so I can go buy new ones, you know?
-
Brother Jim: Yes, but I will say this, the
-
Brother Jim: mortars you buy, like you go up
-
Brother Jim: to prism.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Or Phantom dude, they are awesome.
-
Brother Jim: They're not as coarse, as big as the pros.
-
Brother Jim: But by golly, for home entertainment purposes.
-
David: You know, you've got fireworks.
-
David: I've got cameras and a drone.
-
David: We could put up a pretty good
-
David: fireworks show, set it to some
-
David: music.
-
Brother Jim: Credit card two.
-
David: I've got one too.
-
Brother Jim: Just kidding folks.
-
Brother Jim: Just kidding.
-
Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.
-
Brother Jim: I can see the phone ringing up.
-
David: Oh boy oh boy yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Brother Jim's going to go buy fireworks with our money.
-
Brother Jim: No no no guys I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
-
Brother Jim: No, I do take my fireworks serious though.
-
Brother Jim: I am a semi professional.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, that would be one of my ideal jobs.
-
Brother Jim: Top five jobs that falls in top five of being a pyro.
-
David: That'd be a great retirement job, wouldn't it?
-
Brother Jim: Oh, dude.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, man.
-
Brother Jim: Just sitting there.
-
Brother Jim: Boom boom boom boom boom boom boom.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And it's the smell, brother.
-
Brother Jim: It's the smell that gives me that gunpowder.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, black powder.
-
Brother Jim: I probably shouldn't say gunpowder on the show.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Get us edited or, you know, kicked off.
-
Brother Jim: But black powder.
-
Brother Jim: Funny story, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: Now, if you get an opportunity,
-
Brother Jim: check out his abilities on our
-
Brother Jim: rocks.
-
Brother Jim: Well, I think it has its own separate.
-
David: Yeah. I mean, you can get to it from the the church page, but
-
David: yeah, there is a his ability.
-
Brother Jim: It is a great opportunity.
-
Brother Jim: It is, uh, around it involves helping our, uh, special needs.
-
Brother Jim: And I hate to use that word.
-
Brother Jim: And we've got a great group of young people that come out.
-
Brother Jim: We do it every other Friday night.
-
Brother Jim: And, uh, I was going to wear the outfit, but it was pretty nasty
-
Brother Jim: by the time I got done.
-
Brother Jim: We started a four month series on wrestling with God.
-
Brother Jim: Now, a lot of these young
-
Brother Jim: people, young adults, they love
-
Brother Jim: pro wrestling.
-
Brother Jim: I became the Nacho man, okay?
-
Brother Jim: And I've got Senor Salsa.
-
Brother Jim: And then we got the dumpster divers who never take a bath.
-
Brother Jim: They were kind of like our nemesis.
-
Brother Jim: But again, great group of guys.
-
Brother Jim: And we've had so much fun with this.
-
Brother Jim: But this past Friday night was our finale for that series.
-
Brother Jim: And of course they had a social or ice cream social afterwards.
-
Brother Jim: So in my quick, probably not smart thinking, putting it all
-
Brother Jim: together, of course, twenty minutes before we start, you
-
Brother Jim: know, that's when I do my best.
-
Brother Jim: I told the ladies in the
-
Brother Jim: kitchen, you got all this ice
-
Brother Jim: cream stuff and I always promote
-
Brother Jim: nacho cheese.
-
Brother Jim: Since I'm the nacho man.
-
Brother Jim: Nacho cheese goes with everything.
-
Brother Jim: I asked the the group, I said, hey, you know how Nacho Man
-
Brother Jim: starts out his day?
-
Brother Jim: He starts out with his Lucky Charms.
-
Brother Jim: And guess what?
-
Brother Jim: It ain't melt going on.
-
Brother Jim: There it is nacho cheese, which
-
Brother Jim: just got groans and boos and
-
Brother Jim: everything.
-
Brother Jim: I really ham it up.
-
Brother Jim: But anyway, uh, right before the show started and it was a show.
-
Brother Jim: It was a performance, let me tell you that.
-
Brother Jim: I told, uh, Gabi and Beth in the kitchen.
-
Brother Jim: I said, I need a bowl of ice cream topped with nacho cheese,
-
Brother Jim: salsa, and all the toppings.
-
Brother Jim: Now, of course, that just sounds hideous.
-
Brother Jim: Let me tell you something, folks.
-
Brother Jim: It tasted hideous, too.
-
Brother Jim: So when we got the finale, I
-
Brother Jim: said, oh, they brought it out to
-
Brother Jim: me.
-
Brother Jim: Now, the sad thing is we didn't have any nacho cheese.
-
Brother Jim: And I love nacho cheese.
-
Brother Jim: Who doesn't?
-
Brother Jim: You like nacho cheese, David?
-
David: Absolutely.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, yes.
-
Brother Jim: All they could find was some
-
Brother Jim: questionable cheese slices in
-
Brother Jim: the fridge over at our life
-
Brother Jim: center.
-
Brother Jim: I'm like, just melt them up.
-
Brother Jim: It'll be fine.
-
Brother Jim: Now they're.
-
Brother Jim: My mouth spoke before I really thought about this.
-
Brother Jim: You know those cheese slices, my
-
Brother Jim: friends, they could last thirty
-
Brother Jim: years.
-
Brother Jim: She brings out this Barbie.
-
Brother Jim: Miss Barbie brings out this concoction of half melted cheese
-
Brother Jim: on ice cream with salsa, gummy bears, bananas, chocolate syrup,
-
Brother Jim: caramel syrup, all kinds of candies, M&Ms, you name it.
-
Brother Jim: And I'm I'm like a Billy goat.
-
Brother Jim: I can pretty much eat anything except liver and onions.
-
Brother Jim: But I started coaxing the crowd.
-
Brother Jim: You know, they're all getting grossed out.
-
Brother Jim: And I took the first bite, David.
-
Brother Jim: And I was like, oh my goodness, what have I done?
-
Brother Jim: I've created a monster.
-
Brother Jim: Now I can't back out, right?
-
Brother Jim: I gotta go through this.
-
Brother Jim: So I get the first spoon down and I turn my back.
-
Brother Jim: Turn around, take another big bite of it, and then I go out
-
Brother Jim: through the crowd.
-
Brother Jim: You want a bite?
-
Brother Jim: You want a bite?
-
Brother Jim: And of course.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, no, no. I went for the third bite, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: And let's just say it was a struggle because it started to
-
Brother Jim: come back up.
-
Brother Jim: And I told David here before we
-
Brother Jim: started, I said, I wish I would
-
Brother Jim: have taken a picture of the
-
Brother Jim: bowl.
-
Brother Jim: Now, Brother Jim usually does not leave something on his plate
-
Brother Jim: or bowl, but in this case, that boy, that boy got pitched.
-
Brother Jim: But David the cheese was just
-
Brother Jim: still laying there on the ice
-
Brother Jim: cream.
-
Brother Jim: And the funny thing was, folks,
-
Brother Jim: and as you know, I like to talk
-
Brother Jim: a lot.
-
Brother Jim: That cheese was so nasty.
-
Brother Jim: It got stuck up here on both sides.
-
Brother Jim: And I'm trying to continue
-
Brother Jim: talking with part of the skit
-
Brother Jim: while dealing with this cheese
-
Brother Jim: invasion.
-
Brother Jim: And I'm using cheese term very lightly.
-
Brother Jim: So. So right now, if I have to run out of the room, you'll know
-
Brother Jim: why to find a garbage can.
-
Brother Jim: Because the stomach is still rumbling and grumbling.
-
Brother Jim: What I put into it.
-
Brother Jim: So in saying all that, good morning, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: So tell us how life has been treating you.
-
Brother Jim: Let us know.
-
Brother Jim: We'd love to hear.
-
Brother Jim: Has anybody ever tried nacho cheese salsa on ice cream?
-
Brother Jim: That is an interesting question there.
-
Brother Jim: You gotta let me know if you have.
-
Brother Jim: Now if you do so, choose to try that.
-
Brother Jim: Not my fault, guys.
-
Brother Jim: I've warned you.
-
Brother Jim: Not very tasty.
-
Brother Jim: How about you?
-
Brother Jim: What you got going on?
-
Brother Jim: What's your plans for the weekend?
-
Brother Jim: How about the fourth of July?
-
Brother Jim: Because it's going to be here before we know it.
-
Brother Jim: Let us know.
-
Brother Jim: What's your favorite firecracker?
-
Brother Jim: David, do you remember the
-
Brother Jim: little black snakes you started
-
Brother Jim: out with?
-
David: Oh, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Those little black pills.
-
Brother Jim: You let them go and then you made your way up to sparklers.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: And then.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, the pops.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: You gotta have the pops.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, those were great.
-
Brother Jim: You know, I still love the pops.
-
David: Oh, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Especially, you know, you always find that one that didn't go off
-
Brother Jim: and you step on, stomp on it three days, three days later and
-
Brother Jim: pop ticker can't take that.
-
Brother Jim: Never mind not going there.
-
Brother Jim: But yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And then you make your way up to
-
Brother Jim: firecrackers, bottle, uh, bottle
-
Brother Jim: rockets.
-
Brother Jim: And then one day, when you're
-
Brother Jim: old enough, you make it to the
-
Brother Jim: good stuff.
-
Brother Jim: The good stuff.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: So let us know.
-
Brother Jim: Are you into that?
-
Brother Jim: Do you like to go watch the fireworks?
-
Brother Jim: Which one's got the best display going on in our area?
-
Brother Jim: How about our other countries?
-
Brother Jim: What do you got going on?
-
Brother Jim: I know you know, Fourth of July American holiday, but I know you
-
Brother Jim: all got holidays to let us know what you guys do.
-
Brother Jim: Do you get wild and crazy like us Americans?
-
Brother Jim: You know, we like to blow stuff up, shoot our guns.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: David, the one time we had a little New Year's Eve party.
-
Brother Jim: I went out on the front porch
-
Brother Jim: and no people I was not
-
Brother Jim: drinking.
-
Brother Jim: and I had on a good shirt.
-
Brother Jim: Right.
-
Brother Jim: For the party.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: I thought, oh, it's midnight.
-
Brother Jim: I'll launch some bottle rockets.
-
Brother Jim: Wouldn't you know, that bad boy burned so bad it threw, uh,
-
Brother Jim: threw it right back in my shirt.
-
Brother Jim: And I had a hole in my shirt.
-
Brother Jim: It was starting to burn the skin.
-
Brother Jim: I'm like, seriously?
-
Brother Jim: Come on.
-
Brother Jim: So we encourage safety.
-
David: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Safe fireworks.
-
Brother Jim: And don't be like Brother Jim.
-
Brother Jim: And hold your Roman candles in your bottle.
-
Brother Jim: Bottle rockets in your hand and let them go.
-
Brother Jim: Come to think of it, David,
-
Brother Jim: that's what I did with the
-
Brother Jim: bottle rocket.
-
Brother Jim: The bird.
-
David: Oh, jeez.
-
Brother Jim: Don't do that, kids.
-
Brother Jim: Peg. Abraham, if you're listening, I don't want to hear
-
Brother Jim: about you burning your fingers by holding a bottle rocket.
-
David: I suspect Peg's probably got more common sense than than than
-
David: we do combined.
-
Brother Jim: So do I. Yes. We love you, Peg.
-
Brother Jim: All right.
-
Brother Jim: Wow.
-
Brother Jim: I don't know how we got way off
-
Brother Jim: of that, but come on, let us
-
Brother Jim: know.
-
Brother Jim: We'd love to hear from you guys what you got going on barbecues.
-
Brother Jim: And, uh oh, by the way, David Applebee's has got that endless
-
Brother Jim: riblet thing going on.
-
David: Oh, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, a lot of work for a little meat.
-
Brother Jim: Kind of like crab legs and their much.
-
Brother Jim: The riblets aren't as good as crab.
-
David: Some of those things are more about quantity over quality, and
-
David: that's probably what you're getting there, I'm guessing.
-
Brother Jim: Well, they load you up with the fries and a little thing of
-
Brother Jim: coleslaw, which Applebee's.
-
Brother Jim: You got good coleslaw going on, but they always bring out that
-
Brother Jim: first nice size.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And then when you reorder, it
-
Brother Jim: keeps getting smaller and
-
Brother Jim: smaller.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And you know, so yeah, but uh, not bad.
-
Brother Jim: But so if you're looking for endless shrimp.
-
David: At red lobsters, got the endless
-
David: shrimp right going on too, don't
-
David: they?
-
David: Yeah.
-
David: They do.
-
David: At least they did.
-
David: Uh, about a month ago I was there and they had it.
-
Brother Jim: Okay, okay, look at this.
-
Brother Jim: These tips you're getting from us, you know?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
Brother Jim: Let us know too.
-
Brother Jim: Any favorite restaurants?
-
Brother Jim: I up at Akron Zoo, we were going
-
Brother Jim: home and there was like Bob's
-
Brother Jim: Burger.
-
Brother Jim: David established in nineteen thirty six.
-
Brother Jim: Rundown place.
-
Brother Jim: I told Kerry, I guarantee that is a good cheeseburger.
-
David: No doubt.
-
Brother Jim: Oh yeah.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, little run down hole in the wall.
-
Brother Jim: But baby it looked.
-
Brother Jim: You could just tell.
-
Brother Jim: I could, I could feel the fat
-
Brother Jim: oozing out and calling to my
-
Brother Jim: senses.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, but you know what?
-
Brother Jim: Weekends come and go.
-
Brother Jim: But God's goodness does not take a day off.
-
Brother Jim: Alrighty.
-
Brother Jim: The big question.
-
Brother Jim: The week has almost come to an end.
-
Brother Jim: So what have you done?
-
Brother Jim: What have you done to make a difference in God's kingdom?
-
Brother Jim: Because we should all be making
-
Brother Jim: a difference, not just what
-
Brother Jim: we've accomplished, as we say
-
Brother Jim: every week.
-
Brother Jim: Not just what you survived, which, hey, glad you survived,
-
Brother Jim: but how did you shine for Jesus in the middle of it?
-
Brother Jim: Were you a light?
-
Brother Jim: Were you the candle shining or was your wick out?
-
Brother Jim: So you got the weekend.
-
Brother Jim: It's coming up.
-
Brother Jim: You got an opportunity.
-
Brother Jim: Take a breath.
-
Brother Jim: Take a big breath.
-
Brother Jim: Come on.
-
Brother Jim: Ah!
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Stretch.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, I can't stretch today.
-
Brother Jim: Part of that skit.
-
Brother Jim: Today we skipped out my friends.
-
Brother Jim: And if you wanted to see
-
Brother Jim: something comical, seeing this
-
Brother Jim: guy trying to skip out with
-
Brother Jim: three other dudes was not
-
Brother Jim: pretty.
-
Brother Jim: My friends was not pretty.
-
Brother Jim: But you know what?
-
Brother Jim: Crack a smile because now it's time to saddle up.
-
Brother Jim: I've got the wrong hat on David Bigfoot two.
-
Brother Jim: I wanna be a cowboy.
-
Brother Jim: Yes.
-
David: Is it on right?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. Thanks. Yeah. It's on.
-
Brother Jim: Right.
-
Brother Jim: You're gonna have to start checking every Sunday if you go
-
Brother Jim: back, what, three episodes ago?
-
David: Something like that.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Brother Jim in the second, I think three Thursdays ago.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: I had my hat on backwards.
-
Brother Jim: My cowboy hat, and three quarters away.
-
Brother Jim: I look at myself and I'm like, what is wrong?
-
Brother Jim: I mean, you go from this to howdy, partner.
-
David: I forgot how messed up it was.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, it was messed up.
-
Brother Jim: Well, we got a brand new weekend trail together.
-
Brother Jim: You can do this.
-
Brother Jim: You're almost there.
-
Brother Jim: God's carried you through the week.
-
Brother Jim: And now guess what?
-
Brother Jim: He's still not done with you.
-
Brother Jim: So step up, saddle in.
-
Brother Jim: Get your saddle ready.
-
Brother Jim: Step into this weekend with joy, with laughter, and keep.
-
Brother Jim: Know this, my friends, that God still has purpose for you even
-
Brother Jim: on your days off.
-
Brother Jim: Now.
-
Brother Jim: Hey folks, have you ever had deja vu?
-
Brother Jim: Hey folks, have you ever had deja vu?
-
Brother Jim: Ah, yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Come on.
-
Brother Jim: It was a little bit funny.
-
Brother Jim: Today's thought.
-
Brother Jim: A godly father is one of God's greatest gifts to a family.
-
Brother Jim: His legacy is measured not by what he leaves behind, but what,
-
Brother Jim: but by the faith.
-
Brother Jim: The faith he leaves within.
-
Brother Jim: Now.
-
Brother Jim: Last Tuesday, we start talking about daddy's day, even though
-
Brother Jim: we're a week behind.
-
Brother Jim: Father's day was last Sunday.
-
Brother Jim: Let me ask you something, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: I'll ask you, David.
-
Brother Jim: First off, friends, why are daddy's so important?
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: For you.
-
Brother Jim: Why was your.
-
Brother Jim: Why is your dad so important?
-
David: Well, my dad's important to me because first of all, he was a
-
David: spiritual head of our family.
-
David: Okay.
-
David: One, he set a good fatherly example of of how to, you know,
-
David: work hard, but also play hard.
-
David: And he's always there for me when I need him.
-
Brother Jim: There you.
-
David: Go.
-
Brother Jim: Good answer, good answer.
-
David: I will accept payments later.
-
David: Dad. Just kidding.
-
Brother Jim: Yes. Yes. Yeah. His dad's awesome.
-
Brother Jim: He is a quiet man.
-
David: He's a very quiet man.
-
David: But when he speaks, it's usually hilarious.
-
Brother Jim: Okay. Yes. And I've got to.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: There's some humor with him.
-
Brother Jim: Mhm.
-
Brother Jim: And of course, he has his wife,
-
Brother Jim: the Leinster, who does most of
-
Brother Jim: the talking.
-
Brother Jim: I said it, Lynn, I said it.
-
Brother Jim: We'll see if you're listening or not.
-
Brother Jim: But again, why are daddy's so important.
-
Brother Jim: You know what, number one,
-
Brother Jim: daddy's fathers are important
-
Brother Jim: because God designed them to
-
Brother Jim: play a unique role in the
-
Brother Jim: family.
-
Brother Jim: While every family is different
-
Brother Jim: and many children are lovingly
-
Brother Jim: raised by mothers, grandparents,
-
Brother Jim: or other caregivers, especially
-
Brother Jim: in our day and age today, a
-
Brother Jim: loving.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, and David hit on the engaged father can have a huge, Huge
-
Brother Jim: impact on a child's life.
-
Brother Jim: Now reasons why a father matters so much.
-
Brother Jim: Father provides love.
-
Brother Jim: He provides security.
-
Brother Jim: And as we talked, children need to know they are loved.
-
Brother Jim: A father's hug, his encouragement, his present helps
-
Brother Jim: a child feel safe.
-
Brother Jim: And it's a messed up, screwed up world.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, let's be honest, sending your kid to school.
-
Brother Jim: There is a worry and I know we shouldn't worry because that
-
Brother Jim: comes from Satan.
-
Brother Jim: But there is always concern for you, David.
-
David: Absolutely. Yes. Yep.
-
Brother Jim: Who in their mind goes into a school and shoots up a school?
-
Brother Jim: Now it's been going on.
-
Brother Jim: I remember Columbine back in the day.
-
Brother Jim: What has happened to our appreciation for life?
-
Brother Jim: MM mm.
-
Brother Jim: Let's look at our country, folks.
-
Brother Jim: Let's just start right there.
-
Brother Jim: I don't care if you like it or not.
-
Brother Jim: How many children do we murder every day?
-
Brother Jim: And I think I brought that up a
-
Brother Jim: while back here, David, with the
-
Brother Jim: stats alarming.
-
Brother Jim: So right off the bat, these children don't even have a
-
Brother Jim: chance because of selfishness.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, brother Jim, you shouldn't say that.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, I'm going to say it.
-
Brother Jim: I'm going to say this.
-
Brother Jim: David can edit me later.
-
Brother Jim: You know, what are we keeping teaching our young men to keep
-
Brother Jim: it in their pants?
-
Brother Jim: And are we teaching our young women to keep their legs closed,
-
Brother Jim: to understand the beauty of what God has given us between a man
-
Brother Jim: and a woman?
-
Brother Jim: Husband, wife?
-
Brother Jim: MM. I don't really care if you like it or not.
-
Brother Jim: It's the truth.
-
Brother Jim: And we look at our society today
-
Brother Jim: and we see what we promote sex
-
Brother Jim: everywhere.
-
Brother Jim: Right, David?
-
Brother Jim: Open relationships, open marriages.
-
Brother Jim: Dude, can you imagine if your wife came home and said, I want
-
Brother Jim: to be in an open relationship.
-
Brother Jim: Hello?
-
Brother Jim: Really?
-
Brother Jim: Now I'm gathering.
-
Brother Jim: We're all adults listening in.
-
Brother Jim: Think about it.
-
Brother Jim: But that is what's going on.
-
Brother Jim: Uh. Everything is reversed now.
-
Brother Jim: What's right is wrong, and what's wrong is right.
-
Brother Jim: Riddle me that one, America.
-
Brother Jim: But again, getting back to the security for our children.
-
Brother Jim: And I'm sorry, I'm going to say,
-
Brother Jim: Dave, you're probably gonna have
-
Brother Jim: to edit the whole program when
-
Brother Jim: you can't even send your kid
-
Brother Jim: into a restroom because you got
-
Brother Jim: some.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, I'm a girl today.
-
Brother Jim: And you go in to a women's
-
Brother Jim: restroom where your daughter is
-
Brother Jim: in there.
-
Brother Jim: I'm sorry.
-
Brother Jim: No, uh, uh, that is messed up.
-
Brother Jim: Because, again, what can that man or woman do to a child?
-
Brother Jim: True.
-
Brother Jim: Come on now.
-
Brother Jim: How does a man protect.
-
Brother Jim: How does a father protect his child in today's age?
-
Brother Jim: In our society today?
-
Brother Jim: Ponder that one, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: When children know what dad is
-
Brother Jim: there, they often face life's
-
Brother Jim: challenges with greater
-
Brother Jim: confidence.
-
Brother Jim: That's what a father does.
-
Brother Jim: That's what a godly father does.
-
Brother Jim: He ensures confidence, wisdom,
-
Brother Jim: love through his actions,
-
Brother Jim: through his teachings, through
-
Brother Jim: his words.
-
Brother Jim: A father's arms are often a child's first place of safety.
-
Brother Jim: And being a father, being a padre, I darn well know that
-
Brother Jim: fathers teach by examples and we discuss this again.
-
Brother Jim: Children watch far more than they listen.
-
Brother Jim: And that is so true.
-
Brother Jim: They learn honesty by watching dad tell the truth.
-
Brother Jim: They learn kindness by watching dad treat others with respect.
-
Brother Jim: Another word that we have so
-
Brother Jim: lost in today's society, in our
-
Brother Jim: country today.
-
Brother Jim: Respect.
-
Brother Jim: We'll get on that one.
-
Brother Jim: That would be another great one to bring up later on.
-
Brother Jim: David, for another show.
-
Brother Jim: Respect talked about it on a Wednesday night.
-
Brother Jim: Actually, they learn perseverance by watching dad
-
Brother Jim: keep going when life is hard.
-
Brother Jim: Let's be honest.
-
Brother Jim: Do we tell our children life is hard?
-
Brother Jim: Oh no. It's rainbows and unicorns.
-
Brother Jim: Kids.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, that's what our worlds tell us.
-
Brother Jim: No, life is hard.
-
Brother Jim: Life will kick you right in the backside.
-
Brother Jim: And it don't care.
-
Brother Jim: How many times have you been kicked.
-
Brother Jim: Did anybody say, oh, I'm sorry.
-
Brother Jim: Does the boss really care what's going on with you?
-
Brother Jim: Sometimes there are good bosses.
-
Brother Jim: Sure there are.
-
Brother Jim: There's good and bad everywhere.
-
Brother Jim: But again, how many of us can
-
Brother Jim: say we are just a number one,
-
Brother Jim: three.
-
Brother Jim: Six.
-
Brother Jim: Nine one four?
-
Brother Jim: That was my ID number at Nationwide Insurance.
-
Brother Jim: I'll never forget that number one three six nine one four.
-
Brother Jim: Hey Jim, we're closing your building.
-
Brother Jim: Sorry.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: How many times has that happened in America?
-
Brother Jim: And then it falls to the father.
-
Brother Jim: What am I going to do, David?
-
Brother Jim: How am I going to pay the mortgage?
-
Brother Jim: How am I going to feed my kids?
-
Brother Jim: How am I going to do this?
-
Brother Jim: How am I going to do that?
-
Brother Jim: And again, I get it.
-
Brother Jim: Our economy, everything through throughout is up and down.
-
Brother Jim: But again, the pressure on a father.
-
Brother Jim: So again, how does a man handle
-
Brother Jim: pressure when tough life gets
-
Brother Jim: tough?
-
Brother Jim: Number three, father helps build character.
-
Brother Jim: There's another word.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: Character who?
-
Brother Jim: What is character?
-
Brother Jim: Brother Jim, we all have our opinions, right?
-
Brother Jim: But what.
-
Brother Jim: How do you define character, my friends?
-
Brother Jim: How do you define a godly father's character?
-
Brother Jim: A good father teaches responsibility.
-
Brother Jim: They teach truth.
-
Brother Jim: They teach that hard work matters.
-
Brother Jim: You give your word, you show up and you do your job.
-
Brother Jim: And again, are we teaching our children your word matters.
-
Brother Jim: I'm old school.
-
Brother Jim: I try to be.
-
Brother Jim: Handshake.
-
Brother Jim: Look you in the eye.
-
Brother Jim: Shake your hand.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, I'll be there.
-
Brother Jim: I'll be there.
-
Brother Jim: Are we teaching that respect matters?
-
Brother Jim: Their faith matters.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, there you go.
-
Brother Jim: Their faith matters.
-
Brother Jim: Characters built one day at a time through everyday examples.
-
Brother Jim: But let me ask you something again.
-
Brother Jim: What about your faith?
-
Brother Jim: Are you teaching faith to your kids?
-
Brother Jim: Do you even have fathers?
-
Brother Jim: Do you even men?
-
Brother Jim: Do you even have an example of that in your own life?
-
Brother Jim: It's the cycle that never gets broken.
-
Brother Jim: True.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, an endless cycle.
-
Brother Jim: Because grandpa never taught dad.
-
Brother Jim: Dad never taught me.
-
Brother Jim: How do I know what to teach my kids?
-
Brother Jim: A father encourages and believes every child needs someone who
-
Brother Jim: says, I believe in you.
-
Brother Jim: You can do this, son.
-
Brother Jim: You can do this, daughter.
-
Brother Jim: And you know what?
-
Brother Jim: No matter what, I'm still proud of you and I love you.
-
Brother Jim: One of the greatest compliments
-
Brother Jim: I got as a father was our third
-
Brother Jim: daughter, Kelsey.
-
Brother Jim: She said to her teammates.
-
Brother Jim: She's like, you know what?
-
Brother Jim: My dad don't pull any.
-
Brother Jim: I'm trying to think of the politically correct term.
-
David: Pull any punches.
-
Brother Jim: Don't pull any punches.
-
Brother Jim: Thank you.
-
Brother Jim: David.
-
Brother Jim: They're playing sports.
-
Brother Jim: I'll tell them straight up.
-
Brother Jim: You were horrible.
-
Brother Jim: What were you thinking?
-
Brother Jim: But then you follow up with that, and I love this.
-
Brother Jim: He tells me what I did right.
-
Brother Jim: He tells me what I did wrong.
-
Brother Jim: He tells me how I need to improve, and he always ends.
-
Brother Jim: I'm still proud of you and I still love you.
-
Brother Jim: MM. Now, I just broke that child down a little bit, didn't I?
-
Brother Jim: What you did right, what you did wrong, how you need to improve.
-
Brother Jim: But I'm still proud of you.
-
Brother Jim: And I still love you.
-
Brother Jim: But I'm not going to say.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, David, you did such a good job, right?
-
Brother Jim: Oh, here's your trophy.
-
Brother Jim: That's what's killing us today, my friends.
-
Brother Jim: Everybody gets a trophy.
-
Brother Jim: What happened to hard work?
-
Brother Jim: Having your butt out there, practicing, taking line drives.
-
Brother Jim: If you're playing baseball, working in the gym, in the off
-
Brother Jim: season, building muscles running, getting out there,
-
Brother Jim: hitting the books.
-
Brother Jim: You can do this.
-
Brother Jim: I'm proud of you, I love you.
-
Brother Jim: Those simple words often stay
-
Brother Jim: with children so much in their
-
Brother Jim: lives.
-
Brother Jim: And here we're coming back.
-
Brother Jim: A father protects protection
-
Brother Jim: isn't only about physical
-
Brother Jim: safety.
-
Brother Jim: A good father protects his
-
Brother Jim: family emotionally, spiritually,
-
Brother Jim: and morally.
-
Brother Jim: A father, a good father, a godly father helps guide his children
-
Brother Jim: away from harmful influences and towards wise decisions.
-
Brother Jim: Now look around, David, my friend.
-
Brother Jim: You're a daddy and I am sure I
-
Brother Jim: know you're going to agree with
-
Brother Jim: me.
-
Brother Jim: Are there not harmful influences out in the world today in our
-
Brother Jim: very little Tusk County?
-
David: One hundred percent.
-
Brother Jim: One hundred percent.
-
Brother Jim: Ding ding ding.
-
Brother Jim: We got a winner.
-
Brother Jim: Where do you turn to the TV?
-
Brother Jim: Hoots music hoots.
-
Brother Jim: Social media hoots.
-
Brother Jim: Where do you turn?
-
Brother Jim: What is influencing your child,
-
Brother Jim: your grandchild, your great
-
Brother Jim: grandchild, your neighbor's kid
-
Brother Jim: today?
-
Brother Jim: Because here's the thing I talked about last Sunday.
-
Brother Jim: Whether you want it or not,
-
Brother Jim: someone is always influencing
-
Brother Jim: your child.
-
Brother Jim: So are you part of the problem or are you part of the solution?
-
Brother Jim: And again, wise decisions, wise decisions.
-
Brother Jim: Fathers teach about God.
-
Brother Jim: Oh, here we go.
-
Brother Jim: One of the greatest privileges a
-
Brother Jim: father has is helping his
-
Brother Jim: children know their heavenly
-
Brother Jim: father.
-
Brother Jim: No earthly father is perfect.
-
Brother Jim: Who?
-
Brother Jim: You're talking to?
-
Brother Jim: One of the worst ones here, far from perfection.
-
Brother Jim: But when a father loves, forgive, serves and prays.
-
Brother Jim: He gives his children a glimpse of God's love.
-
Brother Jim: Does not our world need today?
-
Brother Jim: A godly father who diligently
-
Brother Jim: leads their children in every
-
Brother Jim: day life.
-
Brother Jim: We talked about Deuteronomy six last Tuesday.
-
Brother Jim: Seven verse seven.
-
Brother Jim: Impress them on your children.
-
Brother Jim: This command I give you today, it's to be on your heart.
-
Brother Jim: Impress them on your children.
-
Brother Jim: So number one, David to me is
-
Brother Jim: saying, you better have a good
-
Brother Jim: relationship with the father,
-
Brother Jim: right?
-
Brother Jim: How can you impress on a youth, on a child, a baby, when you
-
Brother Jim: ain't got your act straight to begin with, right?
-
Brother Jim: Whew!
-
Brother Jim: Wow.
-
Brother Jim: I wouldn't smack if I hadn't already got smacked tonight by a
-
Brother Jim: by a pole, I'd have David come over and smack me to knock a
-
Brother Jim: little sense into me myself.
-
Brother Jim: I wish now I could have done
-
Brother Jim: more of that with my three older
-
Brother Jim: ones.
-
Brother Jim: But you know what?
-
Brother Jim: I still have an opportunity, and
-
Brother Jim: I still do, trying to impress on
-
Brother Jim: them because I am trying to
-
Brother Jim: improve my relationship with
-
Brother Jim: God.
-
Brother Jim: And guess what, David?
-
Brother Jim: I still fail.
-
Brother Jim: I still screw it up.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: I'm still trying to put nacho cheese on my ice cream when he's
-
Brother Jim: saying not to talk about them.
-
Brother Jim: When you sit at home with them
-
Brother Jim: and when you lock again, when
-
Brother Jim: you're walking, doing whatever
-
Brother Jim: you do, are you impressing on
-
Brother Jim: them?
-
Brother Jim: What really matters?
-
Brother Jim: As we talked Tuesday, fathers leave a legacy.
-
Brother Jim: You know, David, one of the
-
Brother Jim: biggest things I do when I do
-
Brother Jim: funerals.
-
Brother Jim: We talk about the legacy.
-
Brother Jim: What legacy is left?
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And unfortunately, I don't think
-
Brother Jim: we think about legacy until the
-
Brother Jim: person passes.
-
Brother Jim: And then I'm spinning words, putting words together to try to
-
Brother Jim: talk of this loved one's journey on their life.
-
Brother Jim: What legacy did they leave?
-
Brother Jim: And I've been very blessed because majority of the people
-
Brother Jim: have left a great legacy.
-
Brother Jim: But you know what's hard, David?
-
Brother Jim: Trying to spin words together.
-
Brother Jim: You're basically stretching the truth.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: What do you do?
-
Brother Jim: What do you do?
-
Brother Jim: My friends, how would you like to try to do that?
-
Brother Jim: You have a grieving family who
-
Brother Jim: has a lot of animosity and a lot
-
Brother Jim: of hate anger towards their
-
Brother Jim: daddy.
-
Brother Jim: And you've got to try somehow to make it work.
-
Brother Jim: It's kind of tough.
-
Brother Jim: Don't wait.
-
Brother Jim: Start making your legacy now.
-
Brother Jim: You still got time.
-
Brother Jim: Faith, integrity, love and wisdom.
-
Brother Jim: They can be passed down from one generation to the next.
-
Brother Jim: If you're willing, willing men, fathers, daddies, grandpas,
-
Brother Jim: uncles, even the neighbor.
-
Brother Jim: How many times did the neighbor
-
Brother Jim: fill in, at least in my life, to
-
Brother Jim: showed me things and I'm very
-
Brother Jim: grateful.
-
Brother Jim: I'm blessed for that.
-
Brother Jim: A father's greatest legacy is
-
Brother Jim: not what he leaves to his
-
Brother Jim: children, it is what he leaves
-
Brother Jim: in them.
-
Brother Jim: Fathers.
-
Brother Jim: You don't have to be perfect.
-
Brother Jim: Every one of us make mistakes.
-
Brother Jim: So again, children don't need a perfect dad.
-
Brother Jim: They need a dad.
-
Brother Jim: They need a daddy who loves them
-
Brother Jim: admits when he's messed up he's
-
Brother Jim: wrong.
-
Brother Jim: Keeps on growing, searching for that relationship with Christ.
-
Brother Jim: And through doing this, they
-
Brother Jim: point their youth, their next
-
Brother Jim: generation.
-
Brother Jim: The thing that matters the most to them toward Christ.
-
Brother Jim: Your presence, your prayers, and your example matter more than
-
Brother Jim: you may ever realize.
-
Brother Jim: A daddy's hands may build a
-
Brother Jim: house, but his heart builds a
-
Brother Jim: home.
-
Brother Jim: His words shape confidence.
-
Brother Jim: His examples shape character, and his faith can shape
-
Brother Jim: generations long, long after his children have grown.
-
Brother Jim: The love of a godly father
-
Brother Jim: continues to echo in their
-
Brother Jim: lives.
-
Brother Jim: I pray and it doesn't have to be Father's Day.
-
Brother Jim: My friends, this is an everyday accountability.
-
Brother Jim: May God bless every father, grandfather, stepfather,
-
Brother Jim: adoptive father and father figure who faithfully invests in
-
Brother Jim: the next generation.
-
Brother Jim: You know, unfortunately, I didn't have a relationship at
-
Brother Jim: all with my real dad.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah, zero.
-
Brother Jim: I can remember maybe four times I seen him in my life.
-
Brother Jim: And two years ago, unfortunately, I got the call.
-
Brother Jim: He lives in another state that he had passed.
-
Brother Jim: And, you know, dude, you got to go up and you got to clean out.
-
Brother Jim: And it's like, who is this man?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Who was this man?
-
Brother Jim: And that's hard, dude.
-
Brother Jim: I'm fifty three and it's still yeah, I have daddy issues
-
Brother Jim: because at the end of the day, you still wonder, David, why
-
Brother Jim: wasn't I good enough?
-
Brother Jim: What?
-
Brother Jim: What did I do wrong?
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: That you didn't want to be a part of my life.
-
Brother Jim: I don't care if you're not rich.
-
Brother Jim: I don't care if you live in another state.
-
Brother Jim: I don't care if you messed up.
-
Brother Jim: I still wanted to know you.
-
Brother Jim: It's tough, man.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: It is.
-
Brother Jim: So I'm a fifty three, an old fart.
-
Brother Jim: Think about all these young kids
-
Brother Jim: out there wondering that same
-
Brother Jim: question.
-
Brother Jim: Maybe you're one of the ones wondering.
-
Brother Jim: And you know what?
-
Brother Jim: I'll tell you this as we close,
-
Brother Jim: the only piece that I have found
-
Brother Jim: with this is through Christ my
-
Brother Jim: Lord.
-
Brother Jim: That's the only, only way to get
-
Brother Jim: over it, to move on and to make
-
Brother Jim: sure my kids know how much
-
Brother Jim: they're loved.
-
Brother Jim: Your dad ever tell you he loves you?
-
David: Absolutely.
-
Brother Jim: Never heard that.
-
David: I can't imagine, never heard it.
-
David: Not.
-
Brother Jim: Not from my biological father.
-
Brother Jim: No. Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And again, dude, you go through
-
Brother Jim: this stuff, this stuff, and it's
-
Brother Jim: like.
-
Brother Jim: And he was a cowboy.
-
Brother Jim: That's what kills me.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: The conversations we could have had, you know, the things he
-
Brother Jim: could have shown me.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: You know so well, my friends, that just about does it for this
-
Brother Jim: two Thursday, Thursday.
-
Brother Jim: Excuse me, June twenty fifth, twenty twenty six.
-
Brother Jim: We're going to hang on just a little bit more, get us through
-
Brother Jim: the Fourth of July, and then we're going to take a break here
-
Brother Jim: and, uh, make some improvements, but give us a little bit of
-
Brother Jim: break to freshen ourselves up if you will get some hopefully more
-
Brother Jim: improved dad jokes on my end.
-
Brother Jim: Uh, Mr. David, my friend, any closing thoughts?
-
Brother Jim: Comments?
-
David: You know, earlier when you were talking about the, the bathroom
-
David: thing and I said, I know exactly where you're going, I, I didn't
-
David: we were on two different paths.
-
David: And what I, the thing that I was thinking of was.
-
Brother Jim: I'm sorry.
-
David: Oh, the, the people in the restrooms and.
-
David: Oh yeah, yeah, I was going a different direction because it's
-
David: recently in the news about the, uh, the father who has taken
-
David: his, took his two young girls into the women's restroom.
-
David: Did you see about that at all?
-
Brother Jim: No, I did not.
-
David: Uh, young father, he's by himself traveling.
-
David: I don't know the whole situation.
-
David: If the if the wife is in the
-
David: picture, if she passed, I don't
-
David: know.
-
David: But anyway, I would guess they were four and five really young
-
David: girls stopped at a quick trip and the father took him in the
-
David: women's restroom because everything is stalls,
-
David: everybody's closed off.
-
David: Whether if you go into men's
-
David: restroom, that's a whole
-
David: different.
-
David: Yeah.
-
David: Anyway, made sure there was
-
David: nobody in there and it was all
-
David: clear.
-
David: And the one of the employees was was helping out and he's just
-
David: helping them wash their hands.
-
David: The whack job that I was
-
David: referring to was some guy whose
-
David: wife wanted to use the restroom,
-
David: and he's standing there filming
-
David: him at the door, just berating
-
David: him.
-
David: What kind of pervert?
-
David: What are you doing in a women's restroom?
-
David: And this dad, who had a he had a
-
David: cross on his shirt, and he's
-
David: just calmly helping his
-
David: daughters wash their hands and
-
David: getting them.
-
David: Oh, are you taking your tongue?
-
David: Not in any hurry to get out.
-
David: And this the father who was helping the daughters.
-
David: What an example.
-
David: Didn't lose his cool just helped
-
David: him and and and the even the
-
David: QuikTrip employee said, I'm so
-
David: sorry.
-
David: Right.
-
David: You know, anyway, that guy ended up losing his job.
-
David: So he, he got, uh.
-
Brother Jim: He said he did or didn't.
-
David: The guy who was filming him, who was berating him, they found out
-
David: who he was and he lost.
-
David: He lost his job.
-
David: But yeah, so that's where I thought we were going, but.
-
David: Oh, no, no, but but, you know,
-
David: just talking to, you know, a
-
David: good father, a good Christian
-
David: character.
-
David: Yeah.
-
David: Looking out for his daughters, taking him in the women's
-
David: restroom because they wouldn't be subjected to seeing anything
-
David: that they didn't need to see.
-
David: Yeah.
-
David: So I mean.
-
Brother Jim: And, you know, right, there's a perfect example, a shout out to
-
Brother Jim: all you single dads out there.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: Who are trying to make it.
-
Brother Jim: And again, that totally
-
Brother Jim: different when I was referring
-
Brother Jim: to.
-
Brother Jim: But you got to do what you got to do.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: And again, what more could he have done?
-
Brother Jim: He had an employee come take
-
Brother Jim: care of that outside situation
-
Brother Jim: so he could attend, tend to his
-
Brother Jim: daughters.
-
Brother Jim: Yep.
-
Brother Jim: I mean, you know.
-
David: Yeah. Just all around great dad.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah. Shout out to that man there.
-
Brother Jim: No, I didn't hear about that one.
-
David: Mhm.
-
Brother Jim: And again, folks, I know I get a
-
Brother Jim: little fired up, but you know,
-
Brother Jim: it does.
-
Brother Jim: It frustrates me because my daughters are everything to me.
-
Brother Jim: My wife and, you know, and my grandchildren.
-
Brother Jim: The thought of anyone, you know,
-
Brother Jim: I'm sorry, but it's the world we
-
Brother Jim: live in.
-
Brother Jim: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: You know, I like that one joke about the guy.
-
Brother Jim: And I know you're probably going to get mad at me, but it's okay.
-
Brother Jim: Where a guy came in and tried to
-
Brother Jim: do something to his daughter
-
Brother Jim: and, uh, he identified as a
-
Brother Jim: woman.
-
Brother Jim: You know, he used that excuse.
-
Brother Jim: And the guy's like, yeah, I identified as the tooth fairy.
-
Brother Jim: Bingo.
-
Brother Jim: You know, that's a whole
-
Brother Jim: different subject we can get
-
Brother Jim: into to.
-
Brother Jim: And we've touched the surface a little bit, but.
-
Brother Jim: It's a world.
-
Brother Jim: People need help.
-
Brother Jim: People need Jesus.
-
Brother Jim: They do.
-
Brother Jim: And I'm not saying that of hate.
-
Brother Jim: Okay, guys.
-
Brother Jim: No, but as a father, there is a line.
-
Brother Jim: I'm sure you would do anything to protect your children, your
-
Brother Jim: wife, your family.
-
Brother Jim: What man wouldn't?
-
Brother Jim: So there is a line there.
-
Brother Jim: But also, as a Christian man, we got to remember God's got this.
-
Brother Jim: Just like that man.
-
Brother Jim: Lead by example.
-
Brother Jim: Don't lose your cool.
-
Brother Jim: And that's transformation.
-
Brother Jim: Work in progress.
-
David: Yeah.
-
Brother Jim: So. To all you single dads, to
-
Brother Jim: all you men, fathers,
-
Brother Jim: grandfathers, everybody.
-
Brother Jim: Happy belated Fathers Day.
-
Brother Jim: And remember you.
-
Brother Jim: Yes, you, my friends, you've got meaning.
-
Brother Jim: You've got value.
-
Brother Jim: And most of all you are loved.
-
Brother Jim: Men never forget that God created you with a purpose.
-
Brother Jim: And this world, fathers men is better off because you're in it.
-
Brother Jim: May God continue to bless you, guide all of us, strengthen us,
-
Brother Jim: and walk beside us through every moment of this life.
-
Brother Jim: And may you and I continue to thank our Lord above for the
-
Brother Jim: blessings we way too often take for granted each day.
-
Brother Jim: So wherever life takes you
-
Brother Jim: today, keep smiling, keep
-
Brother Jim: believing, keep loving, and keep
-
Brother Jim: trusting God.
-
Brother Jim: And remember this if we meet again.
-
Brother Jim: Oh baby, we're going to have a party.
-
Brother Jim: And we will smile.
-
Brother Jim: And we're going to rejoice together.
-
Brother Jim: And if not, then this parting was well made.
-
Brother Jim: Thank you for joining David and myself here on Bible in Prayer.
-
Brother Jim: And one day, when your earthly,
-
Brother Jim: earthly trail comes to an end,
-
Brother Jim: may it lead you home to hear our
-
Brother Jim: Savior say, well done, good and
-
Brother Jim: faithful servant.
-
Brother Jim: Until then.
-
Brother Jim: Until then, my friends, may you and your family be blessed.
-
Brother Jim: Walk the trail of faith and remember.
-
Brother Jim: Leave a legacy worth leaving.
-
Brother Jim: Fathers.
-
Brother Jim: Mothers.
-
Brother Jim: Both.
-
Brother Jim: Happy trails to you until we all meet again.
-
Brother Jim: In the presence of our Lord.
-
Brother Jim: God bless America and you, our friends, joining us in from
-
Brother Jim: other countries as well.
-
Brother Jim: God bless your country.
-
Brother Jim: Until next time.
-
Brother Jim: This is the big guy, Brother Jim.
-
Brother Jim: Out.
