Brother Jim: And he was doing smash burgers the other night there.

Brother Jim: he started cutting up all them

Brother Jim: And, you know, I was like, ah, buddy, you just ruined the whole

Brother Jim: smash burger there.

Brother Jim: But yeah, the only thing I could help couldn't help but think of.

Brother Jim: I mean, it's a small area, of course.

Brother Jim: And you're sleeping in there.

Brother Jim: You got your grill in there a little smelly.

David: And if it catches fire, you better get out quick.

Brother Jim: You said you're going to the pool a little bit.

David: Yeah, yeah, we're going to do that.

David: I'm going to try to get the family to the Air Force Museum

David: over in Dayton, too.

David: Yeah, we we enjoyed that last year.

David: I'm going to try not to drive on the Air Force base this year.

David: Uh, two years in a row.

David: They may frown on that.

Brother Jim: So you're in a system?

David: I'm already in the system.

Brother Jim: Well, I hear ATF knocking on the door or, uh.

David: MPs, probably.

David: I did buy a attachment for my lawn mower that as of today, I

David: haven't got to use yet.

David: Oh yeah.

David: But I got a lawn striping attachment.

David: Oh we're gonna be laying some laser stripes here hopefully,

David: hopefully before the fourth.

David: I hope to get that down there.

David: And yeah.

Brother Jim: Now there is one, uh, Joe and Teresa who come here to our

Brother Jim: church, their daughter, they live out in Indianapolis, and

Brother Jim: her husband, their son in law, he does a patriotic theme in his

Brother Jim: yard every year.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And they make a video to it, like patriotic.

Brother Jim: It's pretty cool.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Uh, yeah, I dig those.

Brother Jim: People go out and they paint and everything.

David: I'll just be happy if my lines are straight.

David: This year, we'll hold off on the patriotic patterns for now.

Brother Jim: I've got a mess to get busy now on my driveway.

Brother Jim: country we have gravel, no weeds

Brother Jim: Now, this guy knew how to do the repair, but he needed parts.

Brother Jim: So he calls up all these auto supply parts stores.

Brother Jim: You know, he calls garages.

Brother Jim: Anything he could think of any place to get parts.

Brother Jim: Nothing happened.

Brother Jim: Nobody had those.

Brother Jim: His responses range from Mazda.

Brother Jim: What to.

Brother Jim: You gotta be kidding me.

Brother Jim: And one guy just straight out laughed at him.

Brother Jim: Now, there was one last local

Brother Jim: place, a listing that he could

Brother Jim: call.

Brother Jim: It was Victor's garage.

Brother Jim: So he calls up Victor's garage.

Brother Jim: Vic said to Guy, you are my last hope.

Brother Jim: Do you carry any parts for a nineteen eighty two Maserati?

Brother Jim: There was a long pause.

Brother Jim: Finally, Victor cleared his

Brother Jim: throat and said, well, yes, sir,

Brother Jim: Oil.

Brother Jim: Hey, at least he had the oil.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Now, we have always all kinds of ways to identify now.

Brother Jim: We got a lot of ways to identify.

Brother Jim: How many of us identify as a Christian American now.

Brother Jim: Me, I keep it simple.

Brother Jim: When you check your little boxes.

Brother Jim: I'm just a follower of Jesus.

Brother Jim: I'm not too concerned about denominations follower Jesus.

Brother Jim: But as a Christian American, what does it mean to you?

Brother Jim: Now, for me, being a Christian American is both a blessing but

Brother Jim: also a responsibility.

Brother Jim: It is a blessing because I. We

Brother Jim: live in a nation where for most

Brother Jim: of its history, much of its

Brother Jim: history.

Brother Jim: People have enjoyed the freedom to worship God according to the

Brother Jim: conviction of their conscience.

Brother Jim: It is a responsibility because freedom is not something to be

Brother Jim: taken for granted, which we do.

Brother Jim: I do.

Brother Jim: It is something to be used

Brother Jim: wisely and faithfully as a

Brother Jim: Christian.

Brother Jim: My highest allegiance is not to a political party, not to a flag

Brother Jim: or even a nation.

Brother Jim: My highest allegiance is allegiance is to Jesus Christ

Brother Jim: and Jesus Christ alone.

Brother Jim: My faith, your faith shapes how

Brother Jim: you and I view our country, our

Brother Jim: neighbors, and our

Brother Jim: responsibilities.

Brother Jim: Now, don't get me wrong, I love America.

Brother Jim: I don't how do I say this, I love America.

Brother Jim: But a lot of times I disagree

Brother Jim: with what our political movement

Brother Jim: is doing.

Brother Jim: And that's okay, because we all got opinions, right, David?

Brother Jim: We all got opinions, but I love America.

Brother Jim: Do I agree with everything America has done?

Brother Jim: No. But if we look at our own lives, we've all made mistakes,

Brother Jim: have we not?

Brother Jim: We've all had black areas, gray areas.

Brother Jim: We've not shined like we should shine.

Brother Jim: But in my world, that is called transformation.

Brother Jim: Ooh.

Brother Jim: Again, I love America, but I worship God alone.

Brother Jim: Being a Christian American means I am thankful for the liberties

Brother Jim: that generations have worked and sacrificed to preserve.

Brother Jim: Now there's one for you right there.

Brother Jim: I know I've went off before, but

Brother Jim: are we teaching that to our

Brother Jim: children today?

Brother Jim: Are we teaching our history, the good, the bad, the ugly?

Brother Jim: Are we teaching about the hard work that has been put into this

Brother Jim: country, the sacrifice to preserve this country, to

Brother Jim: preserve our freedoms?

Brother Jim: I think of the men and women who

Brother Jim: have served this nation, the

Brother Jim: ones who gave all their very

Brother Jim: lives so that others could live

Brother Jim: this freedom that we have, their

Brother Jim: sacrifices deserve.

Brother Jim: They deserve our gratitude and our respect.

Brother Jim: But it also means recognizing, yes, that no nation is perfect.

Brother Jim: And trust me, America is far from perfect.

Brother Jim: Every country, including our own.

Brother Jim: And maybe for you viewers joining in from other countries,

Brother Jim: you can agree.

Brother Jim: We've all experienced moments of

Brother Jim: greatness along with moments of

Brother Jim: failure.

Brother Jim: As Christians, we should be grateful for what is good while

Brother Jim: also being willing to acknowledge and admit where we

Brother Jim: have fallen short.

Brother Jim: Love for our country should

Brother Jim: inspire us to seek what is

Brother Jim: right, not to ignore our

Brother Jim: shortcomings.

Brother Jim: Tuesday we talked about Proverbs fourteen thirty four, but I want

Brother Jim: to reiterate this again.

Brother Jim: Righteousness exalts a nation,

Brother Jim: but sin is a reproach to any

Brother Jim: people.

Brother Jim: This verse applies to every nation, every nation.

Brother Jim: A country's lasting strength is found not only.

Brother Jim: Yes, you have its economy.

Brother Jim: You have its military.

Brother Jim: You have technology, but also, more importantly, in the

Brother Jim: character of its people.

Brother Jim: What is character, David?

Brother Jim: How would you define character?

David: I would say character is how you act when nobody's looking.

Brother Jim: Oh, yeah.

Brother Jim: Wow. How would you define America's character today?

Brother Jim: A little fishy.

David: Yeah, it's a little a little, a little tattered.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah. My friends.

Brother Jim: How do you define America's character?

Brother Jim: Our friends from other countries.

Brother Jim: How do you find your own country's character?

Brother Jim: Now all you have to do is get on

Brother Jim: social media, the news, and you

Brother Jim: can see the chaos throughout the

Brother Jim: world.

Brother Jim: But what about our own chaos in our own country?

Brother Jim: We seem to overlook that part because we're Americans.

Brother Jim: We're Americans, we're Americans.

Brother Jim: What has happened to our integrity, our justice, mercy,

Brother Jim: humility, and love?

Brother Jim: Here we go.

Brother Jim: Love for our neighbors, which

Brother Jim: will strengthen communities and

Brother Jim: honor God.

Brother Jim: Where has that went?

Brother Jim: Americans.

Brother Jim: My fellow Americans, being a Christian American also means

Brother Jim: living out our faith.

Brother Jim: Your faith, my faith, every day, not just on a Sunday morning,

Brother Jim: not just on a Wednesday night or a Bible study.

Brother Jim: It means loving my neighbor,

Brother Jim: your neighbor, caring for those

Brother Jim: in need.

Brother Jim: Speaking of truth.

Brother Jim: And there's only one truth, my friends.

Brother Jim: And that is God's truth.

Brother Jim: But we speak it.

Brother Jim: We need to speak it with grace.

Brother Jim: Grace with love, praying for our leaders.

Brother Jim: And yes, as I said, even when we disagree with him.

Brother Jim: And here's one for you working

Brother Jim: for peace and justice in our

Brother Jim: community.

Brother Jim: Working for peace and justice in your community.

Brother Jim: My community.

Brother Jim: Do we even do that?

Brother Jim: Is it so easy?

Brother Jim: How easy is it to jump on the bandwagon?

Brother Jim: Do you see what President Trump said?

Brother Jim: Oh, that dirty rotten dot dot

Brother Jim: dot dot dot or you see what that

Brother Jim: Democrat said?

Brother Jim: Did you see what that tree hugger said?

Brother Jim: Did you see what you know?

Brother Jim: Oh my goodness.

Brother Jim: We can go on and on with the name calling.

Brother Jim: We can go on and on with our hostile opinions.

Brother Jim: But let me turn the tables on

Brother Jim: you just for a moment, including

Brother Jim: myself.

Brother Jim: Oh, I like that.

Brother Jim: Are you working for peace?

Brother Jim: AM I working for peace?

Brother Jim: AM I working for justice in my community?

Brother Jim: Are you working for justice in your community?

Brother Jim: The apostle Paul wrote in Philippians two four, let each

Brother Jim: of you look not only to his own interests, but also the

Brother Jim: interests of others.

Brother Jim: Those words remind us that faith

Brother Jim: is not only something we

Brother Jim: profess.

Brother Jim: It is something we practice.

Brother Jim: Now, David, I don't golf because

Brother Jim: I know it takes a lot of

Brother Jim: practice.

Brother Jim: I would love to golf, but it takes time and it takes practice

Brother Jim: because I go out and I get so frustrated because that ball

Brother Jim: won't go where I want it to go.

Brother Jim: But it takes practice.

Brother Jim: True, right?

Brother Jim: As a Christian, does it not take practice to going through

Brother Jim: setting up a routine, a time for your Bible, a time for prayer?

Brother Jim: It takes routine.

Brother Jim: It takes practice.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: But if I were to go out and start practicing golf, there is

Brother Jim: a chance I might become better.

Brother Jim: True.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: So in saying that, David, is

Brother Jim: there a chance that we as

Brother Jim: Christians or we on the fence if

Brother Jim: we would start practicing making

Brother Jim: it part of our daily routine to

Brother Jim: start getting in His word, to

Brother Jim: have a time of prayer, to have a

Brother Jim: time of devotion, a time to work

Brother Jim: on ourselves before we go

Brother Jim: looking at other people's

Brother Jim: gardens, as I had mentioned

Brother Jim: earlier.

Brother Jim: MM. Isn't that part of practice?

Brother Jim: Would we not become maybe a little bit better?

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Being a Christian means

Brother Jim: believing that true freedom is

Brother Jim: more than the absence of

Brother Jim: government control.

Brother Jim: True freedom.

Brother Jim: True freedom is found in living

Brother Jim: according to God's truth and

Brother Jim: loving others as Christ has

Brother Jim: loved us.

Brother Jim: And that's something I think we're so far removed, David.

Brother Jim: We weren't around back when Jesus walked the earth, right?

David: No.

Brother Jim: So do we create this barrier in our own minds?

Brother Jim: Do we create excuses?

Brother Jim: That was long ago, right?

Brother Jim: Jesus ain't walking here today.

Brother Jim: I believe he walks with us each and every day, right?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: If we allow him to.

Brother Jim: If we ask him to.

Brother Jim: The freedom we enjoy are best preserved when they are

Brother Jim: accompanied by responsibility.

Brother Jim: Oh, there's a big one there.

Brother Jim: Virtue and compassion.

Brother Jim: Responsibility.

Brother Jim: Is that almost a lost world?

Brother Jim: Sometimes in our last word in our country today.

Brother Jim: Think about it, my friends.

Brother Jim: Seems like we're always trying to buck our responsibility.

Brother Jim: Always trying to blame somebody else.

Brother Jim: We act like children.

Brother Jim: How many times, David, you had a brother and sister, right?

David: Sure did.

Brother Jim: Did you ever, uh, put it on them instead of you?

David: Absolutely.

Brother Jim: Maybe we need to get them on here.

Brother Jim: Yeah. Who doesn't?

Brother Jim: But we act like children.

Brother Jim: As adults we shouldn't.

Brother Jim: But how many times do we look?

Brother Jim: Well, here we go.

Brother Jim: The devil made me do it.

Brother Jim: Devil didn't make you do anything.

Brother Jim: Now he will tempt us.

Brother Jim: He will try to distract us.

Brother Jim: But at the end of the day, we have free will.

Brother Jim: Which under that free will comes.

Brother Jim: Responsibility comes, virtue comes compassion.

Brother Jim: Now here's one I believe the.

Brother Jim: One of the greatest privileges

Brother Jim: have is that we have is the

Brother Jim: freedom to share our faith

Brother Jim: openly, openly.

Brother Jim: Again, thank God it hasn't

Brother Jim: happened here yet, but I can

Brother Jim: also see in some situations that

Brother Jim: noose going around throughout

Brother Jim: the world, many Christians face

Brother Jim: persecution for following

Brother Jim: Christ, for reading the Bible,

Brother Jim: for praying.

Brother Jim: Think about that.

Brother Jim: We don't have guns pointed at us.

Brother Jim: We don't have prisons.

Brother Jim: Now you start reading more and more, David.

Brother Jim: It's happening other countries,

Brother Jim: but it's just getting closer and

Brother Jim: closer.

Brother Jim: Wake up, my friends.

Brother Jim: We should never take lightly the

Brother Jim: opportunity to worship, to pray,

Brother Jim: to read the Bible and gather

Brother Jim: with other believers together in

Brother Jim: peace.

Brother Jim: Now.

Brother Jim: Peace.

Brother Jim: David.

Brother Jim: I can get a little riled up, but there's a line, isn't there?

Brother Jim: Between being riled up, passionate, and still being

Brother Jim: peaceful about it.

Brother Jim: Right?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: You can be peaceful, but be passionate.

Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.

Brother Jim: So I want to add that in there a little bit.

Brother Jim: Being passionate through peace, being convicted through peace,

Brother Jim: speaking up through peace.

Brother Jim: Of course, the devil wants us to

Brother Jim: go out with our pitch and our

Brother Jim: pitchforks.

Brother Jim: And, you know, like the old

Brother Jim: days, you know, on the witch

Brother Jim: hunt?

David: Yep.

Brother Jim: Yeah. Did you notice, David, that pastor here?

Brother Jim: I forget where he was at.

Brother Jim: Dude threatened to rape his wife and kill his family.

Brother Jim: Mhm.

Brother Jim: And he went over, got in a dude's face, and, you know,

Brother Jim: ended up beating him up.

David: Laid hands on him.

Brother Jim: Yeah. Well, yeah.

Brother Jim: And the guy laid hands on him.

Brother Jim: Okay, this will probably get me in trouble, but I don't see

Brother Jim: anything wrong with that.

Brother Jim: The man threatened the other man's family.

David: Yeah.

Brother Jim: As a father.

Brother Jim: Now, you can agree or disagree, but I'm also the protector.

Brother Jim: Now, again, I wasn't there.

Brother Jim: And I don't know how bad.

Brother Jim: Of course, the media can always blow stuff out.

Brother Jim: But to defend yourself, to protect your family.

Brother Jim: You can do it in a peaceful way, but it might be painful for the

Brother Jim: other guy too, right?

Brother Jim: You know, I mean, as a as a man

Brother Jim: just supposed to say, come on

Brother Jim: in.

Brother Jim: Here's my wife, here's my kids.

Brother Jim: Do what you want.

David: I think you're supposed to, you

David: know, Non-confrontational if you

David: can.

David: But I mean, if it comes down to

David: it, I mean, you've got to defend

David: your family.

Brother Jim: Exactly.

Brother Jim: Now, again, you guys can agree or disagree, but that's how I

Brother Jim: feel in my heart.

Brother Jim: Now, again, I don't want to do any harm to anybody.

Brother Jim: I don't want to hurt anybody.

David: No. Nobody does.

Brother Jim: No, I'm not going out.

Brother Jim: And this man wasn't looking for a fight.

Brother Jim: But when you openly and evidently there was some

Brother Jim: problems there with this man to begin with, it's a. Would you

Brother Jim: rather take action and protect your family or go back?

Brother Jim: Boy, I wish I would have.

Brother Jim: And again, the pastor didn't kill the guy, smacked him around

Brother Jim: a little bit.

Brother Jim: You know, in the heat of the moment, we're all flush, right?

Brother Jim: Yeah, yeah.

Brother Jim: But again, I'm all about peace

Brother Jim: and I'm all about doing it in

Brother Jim: God's way, but also being

Brother Jim: passionate.

Brother Jim: Let me ask you, if somebody broke into your loved ones

Brother Jim: homes, what would you do?

Brother Jim: Now, again, this man didn't

Brother Jim: break into their home, but he

Brother Jim: was threatening.

Brother Jim: He was right across the road.

Brother Jim: What would you do?

Brother Jim: Men that are listening in.

Brother Jim: What would you do?

Brother Jim: Mama's mama bear's out there.

Brother Jim: Grandmas.

Brother Jim: What would you do?

Brother Jim: Again, there is a fine line there.

Brother Jim: And and also you could say

Brother Jim: there's a big line, but we can

Brother Jim: be passionate about how we love

Brother Jim: God, passionate how we love our

Brother Jim: neighbors, but also passionate

Brother Jim: to be the peacemakers, but also

Brother Jim: the protectors.

Brother Jim: Again, you can agree or disagree, but I would hate to

Brother Jim: face God and say, Jim, you let your family down.

Brother Jim: Not that you went out and killed somebody, not that you went out

Brother Jim: and did this, but you simply didn't protect because you were

Brother Jim: afraid of what people would say.

Brother Jim: Social media is going to find out regardless, right?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: How many people probably.

Brother Jim: Well, I know they filmed it.

Brother Jim: So again.

Brother Jim: And I know this is going way off, but but in my heart that

Brother Jim: that really, you know, uh, and you see that pop up more and

Brother Jim: more where men, especially men defending their families.

Brother Jim: Unfortunately, that's what our country has become today.

Brother Jim: Other countries, oh my goodness, they're so far past that, David.

Brother Jim: I mean, how many times has

Brother Jim: genocide happened in other

Brother Jim: countries?

Brother Jim: I mean, look, throughout man's history, genocide.

Brother Jim: And is it possible, David, it

Brother Jim: starts by just one man not

Brother Jim: willing to step up and do what

Brother Jim: is right.

Brother Jim: One man not willing to step up and defend like a bully.

Brother Jim: Right?

Brother Jim: You just let him keep going and going.

Brother Jim: They're going to take more and more.

Brother Jim: Is that has that become our church today?

Brother Jim: Has that become the American Christian today?

Brother Jim: And I'm not talking about going out and again, you know, getting

Brother Jim: in fights and this and that, but standing up with passion, with

Brother Jim: conviction, with love and saying, no, I'm going to stand

Brother Jim: differently in this.

Brother Jim: I am standing up for the Word of God.

Brother Jim: I'm standing up for what I believe in.

Brother Jim: But I still love you.

Brother Jim: Isn't that sad, David, that we've.

Brother Jim: We can't even share opinions.

Brother Jim: We can't even agree to disagree anymore.

David: It is.

Brother Jim: You're a hater.

Brother Jim: You're this, you're that.

Brother Jim: Come on, guys, we can do better.

Brother Jim: As Christians, we are called to be the salt and light.

Brother Jim: We are not called simply to

Brother Jim: complain about our culture, but

Brother Jim: to make a positive difference

Brother Jim: within it.

Brother Jim: We influence our nation by living lives of integrity,

Brother Jim: serving our communities, caring for the vulnerable, and

Brother Jim: reflecting the love of Christ in both word and deed.

Brother Jim: In closing, being a Christian American, being a follower of

Brother Jim: Jesus means that I am grateful for my country, committed to my

Brother Jim: faith, and a hopeful and hopeful for the future.

Brother Jim: I pray we pray for America.

Brother Jim: Not because David and I believe it's perfect, but because we

Brother Jim: believe every nation needs God's wisdom and grace.

Brother Jim: To let us have a prayer.

Brother Jim: Let us say a prayer that we will continue to cherish liberty,

Brother Jim: pursue justice, care for one another, and seek God's guidance

Brother Jim: in all that we do.

Brother Jim: we are citizens of this nation,

David: Like they are just like they had these preconceived notions that,

David: you know, we're out there, you know, mowing the grass and

David: shooting guns off.

David: And maybe there's some people who do that.

David: Yeah.

David: But, you know, they just, they don't want to leave.

David: They love it here.

David: Like everybody's so friendly, they say.

David: And, you know, we look them in

David: the eye and say, how are you

David: doing?

David: And they're amazed at just how much clean water we have, right?

David: I mean, it's they're really getting their ideas of what they

David: thought they knew are getting blown out of the water here.

Brother Jim: That that their conception was a big misconception of America.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

David: Well, they love it here.

Brother Jim: I sent David a video the other day of, uh, and it showed a

Brother Jim: gentleman, uh, patriotic, was shooting his guns to a song and

Brother Jim: it was cool.

Brother Jim: Oh, absolutely.

Brother Jim: I was jealous because I was

Brother Jim: like, man, I wish I had those

Brother Jim: money now again, that's my

Brother Jim: thing.

Brother Jim: Don't.

Brother Jim: Okay.

Brother Jim: We can we can talk about that on another episode or off air.

Brother Jim: But again, it was just cool how he did this.

Brother Jim: And of course, there was one comment you know, about, oh, you

Brother Jim: Americans and your dude, number one, you're from another country

Brother Jim: until you come and experience it, until you come to see, you

Brother Jim: might be surprised.

Brother Jim: Like you said, it's not what.

Brother Jim: And I wonder where they get those ideas from.

Brother Jim: MM mm.

Brother Jim: Makes you wonder.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: We are still so blessed.

Brother Jim: And like any country, there are

Brother Jim: good and bad people in church

Brother Jim: and schools, businesses,

Brother Jim: There's good and there's bad.

Brother Jim: It's the world we live in.

Brother Jim: It's the same world Jesus lived in.

Brother Jim: There was good and there was bad.

Brother Jim: How about you guys?

Brother Jim: Are you willing to make a difference?

Brother Jim: Remember this before we go you.

Brother Jim: Yes, you have meaning.

Brother Jim: You have value.

Brother Jim: And most of all, you are loved.

Brother Jim: And never forget that God created you with purpose.

Brother Jim: And this world is better because you're in it.
