Brother Jim: It is time, my friends.

Brother Jim: And let me warn you now we are special in a very different way.

Brother Jim: So in saying that, guess what, folks?

Brother Jim: Who the boys are back in town.

Brother Jim: Bible bibs and prayer is back for another season.

Brother Jim: We are ready, my friends.

Brother Jim: Good thing I don't have a lighter because we would be

Brother Jim: rocking and rolling and lighting this baby off with one big bang.

Brother Jim: Yes, the boys are back in town.

Brother Jim: So in saying all that, welcome

Brother Jim: my friends to Bible bibs and a

Brother Jim: prayer where we open God's Word,

Brother Jim: strengthen our faith, and take

Brother Jim: everything to the Lord in

Brother Jim: prayer.

Brother Jim: And you know what?

Brother Jim: In doing all that, we have a whole lot of fun with it.

Brother Jim: I'm one half of the dynamic duo, the big guy Brother Jim, and

Brother Jim: apparently they gave the mic back to me again and I was told,

Brother Jim: don't say anything stupid because I am on probation.

Brother Jim: Yes, let me just say I am glad that you you.

Brother Jim: Yes, you have joined us today,

Brother Jim: wherever you are local, in the

Brother Jim: state, in the country or out in

Brother Jim: the world.

Brother Jim: And I tell you what, that is

Brother Jim: what gets me pumping right

Brother Jim: there.

Brother Jim: When we got twenty some

Brother Jim: different countries listening

Brother Jim: in.

Brother Jim: And let me tell you something to those folks, I do not have an

Brother Jim: ear for language.

Brother Jim: If I did, oh, I would be talking up a storm to all our brothers

Brother Jim: and sisters and any language all across the world.

Brother Jim: but we are back for another season.

Brother Jim: That is something.

Brother Jim: And if you're listening in, wow,

Brother Jim: there must be something wrong

Brother Jim: with you.

Brother Jim: Haha.

Brother Jim: But we love you because here on Bible in Prayer, we believe the

Brother Jim: Bible is not just a book we read on a Sunday morning.

Brother Jim: No sir, this book right here is God's Word.

Brother Jim: It is alive.

Brother Jim: It speaks into our everyday lives and it gives us direction

Brother Jim: for the road ahead.

Brother Jim: And as an added bonus, we believe.

Brother Jim: We believe in the power of prayer because sometimes we mean

Brother Jim: we need more than answers from Google or AI.

Brother Jim: True, sometimes we need more

Brother Jim: than advice from a friend or a

Brother Jim: loved one.

Brother Jim: Sometimes we need to get on our knees.

Brother Jim: Yes, get on our knees and talk to God.

Brother Jim: That is what he wants.

Brother Jim: Take it to him.

Brother Jim: That's what I'm talking about.

Brother Jim: Each episode we are going to dig, dig, dig into scripture,

Brother Jim: ask the tough questions, talk about what God's Word means for

Brother Jim: us today, and then bring it all before the Lord in prayer.

Brother Jim: So grab your Bibles, open up your heart.

Brother Jim: Put down the distractions.

Brother Jim: Lock them up.

Brother Jim: Put them away.

Brother Jim: Get yourself some rocket fuel and prepare.

David: We are with much, uh, trepidation or whatever.

David: I mean, nothing.

David: Wanting to cooperate this morning, nothing wanting to.

Brother Jim: My friend David took an hour to get us up and running because

Brother Jim: nothing was going right.

Brother Jim: And I sat here playing with my animals.

Brother Jim: So glad I have them.

Brother Jim: Glad I have David.

Brother Jim: So what is new in Kernersville?

Brother Jim: It has been a while.

David: It's been a long while.

David: I don't even know what's all new.

David: I mean, we've we've been on.

David: I took a vacation just a short one.

David: Took the kids, you know, down

David: to, uh, the aquarium down there

David: in Newport.

David: Oh, yeah.

David: That's a really nice aquarium.

David: Uh, went down there before

David: school started and enjoyed a day

David: of that.

David: We went to Bucees Have you been to a Bucees yet?

Brother Jim: What is on my bucket list, my friend.

David: That is.

David: That is quite the experience.

David: Let me tell you about it.

David: We could do a whole episode on buckets, but we won't.

Brother Jim: We'll have.

David: To.

Brother Jim: Do that.

Brother Jim: Yes.

David: But yeah, lots of stuff going on.

David: It's like it's been like two months.

Brother Jim: So yeah, buckets.

Brother Jim: It is on my bucket list because

Brother Jim: I have not heard not one bad

Brother Jim: thing.

Brother Jim: Yeah, it is beautiful.

David: Except them trying to sue anybody and everybody who uses a

David: beaver as a mascot.

David: I got a bit of a problem with that, but.

David: Like, you don't own the beaver buckets?

Brother Jim: Yeah, I never thought about that.

Brother Jim: Yeah, but, uh, no, I heard their sandwiches are phenomenal.

Brother Jim: They are everything you can buy there.

Brother Jim: And I was very impressed with them.

Brother Jim: I just read where they have a dress code.

Brother Jim: If you want to work for Bucky's.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Uh, your hair has to be normal color tattoos can't be shown.

Brother Jim: No ear piercings, anything like that.

Brother Jim: And I appreciate if you want to work for us.

Brother Jim: This is what we're asking of you.

David: I mean, that should be the way it is, right?

David: You're representing the company, right?

Brother Jim: Whatever you want to do on your free time.

Brother Jim: Hey.

Brother Jim: That's cool.

Brother Jim: But if you want to work here, this is what we require of you.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: So yes, I like that.

Brother Jim: Uh, did you cook anything up this summer?

David: Uh, you know, I'm always on the Blackstone about once or twice a

David: week and still doing the smash burgers and the grilled cheese.

David: I want to put them together.

David: You know, Broadway Brewhouse has

David: this giant burger that is

David: nothing but grilled cheese and

David: cheeseburger stack.

David: And I make both of those.

David: I don't know why I haven't put

David: it together at home, but I want

David: to.

Brother Jim: I seen one the other day.

Brother Jim: I watched this one show.

Brother Jim: They, uh, it's in Jersey.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: Or New York.

Brother Jim: Okay.

Brother Jim: And there's a huge fear from Jersey.

Brother Jim: You don't talk to New Yorkers.

Brother Jim: New Yorkers don't talk to new

Brother Jim: Jersey, but they have a good

Brother Jim: time.

Brother Jim: And they throw in some Boston dudes, too.

David: Okay.

Brother Jim: But it's a it's a sandwich shop.

Brother Jim: But this guy came in, he drove

Brother Jim: eighteen hours to get this

Brother Jim: sandwich.

Brother Jim: And the sandwich is about this long.

Brother Jim: You start off with like fried ravioli on it.

Brother Jim: And then they put like this vodka sauce on it.

Brother Jim: And he takes these like, chicken parm.

Brother Jim: And David, I am not lying.

Brother Jim: That is that thick.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: The chicken and the cheese.

Brother Jim: So you have that on top of the sandwich.

Brother Jim: And then the guy wanted some type of sweet peppers and then

Brother Jim: some type of chili sauce.

Brother Jim: So by the time you were done, you had a sandwich like this.

Brother Jim: Yeah, it looked delicious.

David: That sounds pretty good.

Brother Jim: We might have to take a road trip out there.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: So, uh, family doing well.

David: Family's doing well.

David: We got kids back in school.

David: The.

David: Oh, yes, the middle one started

David: kindergarten this year, so

David: wasn't sure how that was going

David: to go.

David: You know, it could go either way, but, uh, he marched right

David: up on there.

David: He got to the door and just kept on going.

David: So yeah, he's doing great.

Brother Jim: Well that's great.

Brother Jim: Yeah. School's in session activities out the wazoo.

Brother Jim: Yep.

Brother Jim: Oh, my.

Brother Jim: This is where the traveling begins.

Brother Jim: And that bad case of bleacher butt.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: Already got it, my friends.

Brother Jim: It's like.

Brother Jim: Oh, These and all the years

Brother Jim: you'd think I'd be smart enough

Brother Jim: to go by one of them bleacher

Brother Jim: chairs.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: No. Not me.

Brother Jim: So anyway, well, we'll catch up on that throughout the upcoming

Brother Jim: episodes, but have you heard any good jokes this past summer?

David: Well, I don't know about jokes,

David: but I did tell my therapist that

David: because of my irrational fear of

David: birds, that I'm going to buy a

David: gun.

David: And she said, I think you're getting carried away.

David: I said, not today.

David: I'm not.

Brother Jim: Boom boom bang. Ah. Well, I've got a few.

David: Okay.

Brother Jim: I'm reading a book about anti-gravity.

Brother Jim: It's impossible to put it down.

Brother Jim: Why don't eggs tell jokes?

David: I don't know.

Brother Jim: They would crack each other up.

Brother Jim: And finally, we didn't have smartphones in the eighties.

Brother Jim: We had smart parents, and somehow that was worse.

Brother Jim: And if you grew up in the eighties, you remember big hair.

Brother Jim: cassette tapes, VCR shoulder

Brother Jim: pads and wondering why every car

Brother Jim: suddenly, suddenly needed a

Brother Jim: spoiler.

Brother Jim: Ha!

Brother Jim: And you know what?

Brother Jim: We survived all that.

Brother Jim: And now God is asking you and I

Brother Jim: to survive our spiritual

Brother Jim: struggles to as well as our

Brother Jim: show.

Brother Jim: So let's get started.

Brother Jim: Our quote of the day.

Brother Jim: Prayer is not our last resort.

Brother Jim: It is our first response when we recognize that God is greater

Brother Jim: than what we are facing.

Brother Jim: So let me ask you, my friends,

Brother Jim: have you ever wondered why we

Brother Jim: really pray?

Brother Jim: Why do you really pray?

Brother Jim: What are the benefits of prayer?

Brother Jim: Now, David, I'm going to put you on the spot here.

Brother Jim: What's prayer to you?

Brother Jim: What's what's the benefits of prayer?

David: Well, I mean, to me, it's kind of like, you know, you talk to

David: your spouse, right?

David: If you don't have communication

David: with your spouse, you're not

David: going to have a great

David: relationship.

David: Well, if you don't communicate, if you take two, if you don't

David: communicate with God, you're not going to have a great

David: relationship there either.

David: So it's it's great communication with God.

Brother Jim: A relationship communication.

Brother Jim: If you're not communicating, that relationship's not going to

Brother Jim: go very far.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And plus, we have the benefit of God, the creator of all.

Brother Jim: And he knows our hearts, our minds, everything.

Brother Jim: And here's the cool thing.

Brother Jim: He sent his son, Christ.

Brother Jim: Beloved son Jesus, to walk this

Brother Jim: earth, to go through the stuff

Brother Jim: we face.

Brother Jim: And I was just reading, you know.

Brother Jim: And it'll be coming up.

Brother Jim: Jesus was tempted.

Brother Jim: Satan was right there with him, tempting him.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And we're going to talk about that.

Brother Jim: So yeah.

Brother Jim: So I ask you, my friends, what is the benefit of prayer?

Brother Jim: What is prayer to you?

Brother Jim: And how is your prayer life?

Brother Jim: Because I want to remind

Brother Jim: everybody right now, remember,

Brother Jim: God is not that little genie in

Brother Jim: the bottle.

Brother Jim: You know, we don't rub him three times and poof, God appears and.

Brother Jim: Okay, Jim, you got three wishes.

Brother Jim: No, no, no, God is not a slot machine or a vending machine.

Brother Jim: That was said in our Sunday service.

Brother Jim: Check it out online.

Brother Jim: But again, the benefits.

Brother Jim: Why do we pray?

Brother Jim: Well guess what.

Brother Jim: You great and beautiful listeners.

Brother Jim: As I said before, Jesus prayed.

Brother Jim: So if you have your Bibles,

Brother Jim: which I hope you do, turn with

Brother Jim: us to Matthew four one to

Brother Jim: eleven.

Brother Jim: I'm going to be reading out of the new King James Version.

Brother Jim: Bear with me.

Brother Jim: Then Jesus was led up by the spirit into the wilderness to be

Brother Jim: tempted by the devil.

Brother Jim: And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights

Brother Jim: afterwards, he was hungry.

Brother Jim: Now when the tempter came to him, he said, if you are the Son

Brother Jim: of God, command that these stones become bread.

Brother Jim: But he answered and said, it is

Brother Jim: written, man shall not live by

Brother Jim: bread alone, but by every word

Brother Jim: that proceeds from the mouth of

Brother Jim: God.

Brother Jim: Well, then, the good old devil

Brother Jim: time, my friends, and break this

Brother Jim: down, this scripture down into

Brother Jim: prayer.

David: Yes, absolutely.

Brother Jim: Okay. We're starting a series on fasting, explaining why we fast,

Brother Jim: do you fast?

Brother Jim: What's the benefits of fasting?

Brother Jim: But Jesus had been fasting.

Brother Jim: Now can you imagine going forty days?

David: No.

Brother Jim: I can't even imagine going a day.

Brother Jim: But Brother Jim's going to work on that.

Brother Jim: But think about it.

Brother Jim: Forty days.

Brother Jim: Jesus had been fasting.

Brother Jim: Jesus had been seeking the father.

Brother Jim: He was spiritually preparing for the battle ahead.

Brother Jim: And that raises on an important

Brother Jim: question that raises an

Brother Jim: important question.

Brother Jim: If Jesus, the Son of God, needed

Brother Jim: time alone with the father, how

Brother Jim: much more do you and I need

Brother Jim: prayer?

Brother Jim: And what we must understand and

Brother Jim: acknowledge is that Jesus prayed

Brother Jim: to prepare for the battle that

Brother Jim: was coming.

Brother Jim: Now, let's be honest, we all have battles.

Brother Jim: David.

Brother Jim: You got battles, don't you?

Brother Jim: In life?

David: Absolutely.

Brother Jim: Yes, I got battles.

Brother Jim: And I'm sure you guys watching

Brother Jim: and listening in have battles in

Brother Jim: your life.

Brother Jim: We might share some similar like financial health, the kids.

Brother Jim: But there's also those very

Brother Jim: small ones that most people

Brother Jim: don't know about those

Brother Jim: temptations.

Brother Jim: And yes, Matthew four tells us that Jesus was led into the

Brother Jim: wilderness to be tempted, which I really wondered, Satan, what

Brother Jim: were you thinking, dude?

Brother Jim: I mean, he gave it his best shot, but you know.

David: He didn't stand a chance.

Brother Jim: He took a chance.

Brother Jim: He rolled the dice.

Brother Jim: So again, allow me to ask you, friends, have you been tempted?

Brother Jim: Have you ever been tempted?

Brother Jim: We talked about temptation a while back.

Brother Jim: Take a moment and really think about that question.

Brother Jim: What are your temptations in this life?

Brother Jim: What are you facing right now?

Brother Jim: And again, we all have different temptations.

Brother Jim: This wilderness was not a vacation.

Brother Jim: This wilderness was a battlefield.

Brother Jim: I don't know if we ever think about that.

Brother Jim: You know, you just think about the wilderness.

Brother Jim: You think about, oh, I don't know.

Brother Jim: Was it a was it a garden?

Brother Jim: You know, kind of think of Bambi, you know, that type of

Brother Jim: wilderness or maybe a desert form, you know.

Brother Jim: But no, the wilderness was a battlefield.

Brother Jim: And Jesus knew that he was preparing.

Brother Jim: How many of us here this morning

Brother Jim: can say, yes, Brother Jim, my

Brother Jim: life, some of my life, a little

Brother Jim: bit of my life is a spiritual

Brother Jim: battlefield.

Brother Jim: I have been walking or have

Brother Jim: walked through a spiritual

Brother Jim: minefield.

Brother Jim: Now think about that, David.

Brother Jim: We're out in the woods.

Brother Jim: We're over in Europe, we're over in the jungle somewhere, and

Brother Jim: we're going through, you know, two American tourists.

Brother Jim: And all of a sudden we discover we are in a minefield.

Brother Jim: I don't want to be there.

Brother Jim: No, I don't want to be there.

Brother Jim: Do you want to be there?

Brother Jim: Because there's a good chance you take the wrong step?

Brother Jim: That's the end of the story.

Brother Jim: And how many of us in our own lives, we are in a spiritual

Brother Jim: minefield, and sometimes we feel like we can't even take a step

Brother Jim: or it's going to be over.

Brother Jim: And before the enemy attacked, Jesus had already spent time

Brother Jim: focused, focused on his father.

Brother Jim: He wasn't focused on the problem.

Brother Jim: He wasn't focused on what am I going to cook for dinner?

Brother Jim: He wasn't focused on, boy, did the kids get their assignment

Brother Jim: done, blah, blah, blah.

Brother Jim: You know what I'm talking about.

Brother Jim: He was focused on the father and the father alone.

Brother Jim: How many of us here today,

Brother Jim: including me, when we know that

Brother Jim: the battle is coming, when that

Brother Jim: battle is coming, when we got

Brother Jim: financial issues, medical

Brother Jim: issues, you name it, little

Brother Jim: Timmy's getting in trouble

Brother Jim: again.

Brother Jim: And I got to go to the principal's office.

Brother Jim: How many of us go to the father first?

Brother Jim: Or how many of us sit there and

Brother Jim: ponder and allow Satan to work

Brother Jim: on us?

Brother Jim: HMM.

Brother Jim: Good question.

Brother Jim: I think how many times do we wait until the battle starts

Brother Jim: before we begin to pray.

Brother Jim: Oh, guilty as charged.

Brother Jim: Right here, brother.

Brother Jim: We wait until the doctor calls.

Brother Jim: We wait until the marriage is struggling.

Brother Jim: Or your think about that marriage and struggle.

Brother Jim: How long do you wait?

Brother Jim: You know, when you're sleeping in a motel or on the couch?

Brother Jim: Oh, boy.

Brother Jim: Jeez, David.

Brother Jim: Should I do something here?

Brother Jim: Wow.

Brother Jim: We wait until the money.

Brother Jim: Oh, we wait until the money is gone.

Brother Jim: MM. That can happen anywhere.

Brother Jim: We wait until life is falling apart.

Brother Jim: But Jesus shows us something important.

Brother Jim: Prayer is not just something we do in an emergency.

Brother Jim: It's not a nine one nine one one situation when they're already

Brother Jim: in the house.

Brother Jim: Prayer prepares us before the emergency arrives.

Brother Jim: Kind of like, you know the hurricane is coming.

Brother Jim: And you don't leave.

Brother Jim: You choose not to leave.

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: And all of a sudden, you got flood water.

Brother Jim: There goes your couch floating through the the living room.

Brother Jim: Boy, maybe I should pray.

Brother Jim: No. Why would you not be praying as soon as you heard?

Brother Jim: Hey, ladies and gentlemen, this is your Tom, the Forecat

Brother Jim: weatherman, advising you.

Brother Jim: In a week, we've got a number.

Brother Jim: I don't know what.

Brother Jim: David.

Brother Jim: Number three.

Brother Jim: Category three.

Brother Jim: Hurricane.

Brother Jim: Category four coming in.

Brother Jim: You might want to prepare.

Brother Jim: MM. Doesn't that mean you ought to prepare spiritually, too?

Brother Jim: Yeah.

Brother Jim: What's it hurt to go around your house and pray for your house?

Brother Jim: What's it hurt to go around and pray for your children's safety?

Brother Jim: To pray for your community?

Brother Jim: Start thinking about all those little things because we always

Brother Jim: have hurricanes coming in.

Brother Jim: If you want to stand strong when

Brother Jim: temptation comes, you need to be

Brother Jim: strong before temptation

Brother Jim: arrives.

Brother Jim: Jesus knew this, and Jesus, who.

Brother Jim: Jesus did something about it.

Brother Jim: Huh?

Brother Jim: How many of us like to sit on our couch with our phones

Brother Jim: thinking the phone's going to solve the problem, but instead,

Brother Jim: Jesus, I'm going to say this.

Brother Jim: It might sound corny, but he put

Brother Jim: his big boy pants on and he went

Brother Jim: beforehand.

Brother Jim: He went beforehand.

Brother Jim: That deserves the hat to come around now.

Brother Jim: Oh, because we're getting serious.

Brother Jim: How many of us, including myself, we tend to pretend it's

Brother Jim: not happening or it won't happen in our little minds.

Brother Jim: We think, oh, no, it'll be okay.

Brother Jim: It'll be okay.

Brother Jim: God is going to do something great for me.

Brother Jim: Well, have you actually asked God?

Brother Jim: Huh?

Brother Jim: Are you going off the traditions of answered prayers in the past?

Brother Jim: Or grandma praying for you back in the day?

Brother Jim: That praying grandma.

Brother Jim: MM. So what about you, our friends listening in?

Brother Jim: Are you prepared to do something about what you are going through

Brother Jim: at the moment, or are you waiting for it to happen?

Brother Jim: Are you willing to take it to God in prayer?

Brother Jim: And I sure hope you are.

Brother Jim: Well, that just about does it.

Brother Jim: Mr. David, my friends, any closing thoughts or comments

Brother Jim: before we wrap this bad boy up?

David: You know, it's amazing how much fasting can enhance prayer.

David: It's been a long time since I've

David: done a fast, but the longest I

David: remember doing was I think I

David: either made it seven or fourteen

David: days.

David: I can't remember now.

David: Okay.

David: And, uh, you know, just the first day is terrible.

David: The second day is worse, the

David: third day you think you're going

David: to die.

David: But if you make it through that

David: third day, it's smooth sailing

David: from then on, and you're just so

David: much more in tune with with God

David: and what he's trying to tell

David: you.

David: And it's it's an amazing experience.

David: Say that again.

David: I had you muted.

Brother Jim: Uh, trying to reveal to you.

Brother Jim: Yes.

Brother Jim: And again, I encourage you guys check out this past sermon, this

Brother Jim: past message, I should say, because it really talks about

Brother Jim: we're starting, you know, to get into why fasting and prayer

Brother Jim: count and especially fasting.

Brother Jim: So yeah.

Brother Jim: And do we understand the power, the power of prayer?

Brother Jim: Faith should not be like an eighties cassette tape full of

Brother Jim: potential, but tangled when you need it the most.

Brother Jim: Heavenly father, we just thank you for this time, Lord.

Brother Jim: Be with them, guide them, protect them, Lord, and let us

Brother Jim: all take a moment to really start to to focus on prayer.
