for us let's go we've got to make some

moves in life how many know we can be

really good about talking about stuff

and we never do anything towards it yes

sir right how you know that light bulb

needs to be

changed but it's been out for three

months now and it just keeps on sitting

there oh see that's that's called

conviction that's what that is in the

room right yeah we got to we got to step

up Sunday night when we when we travel

uh it's always exciting it's always fun

to get to a hotel be checking in and um

when you when you start to earn some

points here and there uh and they say oh

Mr Mrs Thomas welcome back uh we'd like

to offer you a free upgrade

yes especially when they put you on that

club level thing have you ever stay on a

club level what or derves are how do you

even spell ORD derves I don't know but

they are good and they serve them at

5:00 and hungry or not I'm getting some

of them

things that little Club level thing well

thank you very much would you we'd like

to upgrade your room to a better view

good I went from the air conditioner to

a wall but it's a whole lot

better it it's it's nice when you get

upgraded when you're flying on an

airplane oh hey how you doing right

right all of the livestock in the back

and everybody else up front that's kind

of how you feel I usually ride with the

livestock that's what we do but but when

you get that upgrade and man they they

they're like serving you juice like that

that oh my that's a that's a glass like

that's actual glass that's not paper

yeah that's what we do in first class

got that big cushy seat it's so nice one

time Cindy and I were flying overseas

and they bumped us it had to be an

accident it I It's So Random it was like

what in the world I didn't say like

hush they put us in first class going

overseas ladies and gentlemen this this

first class had a

bed it laid all the way out they

delivered a mattress about an hour and a

half in like yeah yes yes and and and

here comes a little bag of pajamas are

you serious are you s yeah put them

things on yes we did my little onesie

and I laidback on that little thing like

I I may never do this again but I'm

going to enjoy it right now it's nice

when you get the the upgrades in life

when you get that little bump y'all know

you enjoy the upgrades in your car when

you buy a car you want the upgrades the

options right Cindy won't buy a car even

in Florida without a booty warmer it's

got to have a booty warmer in it and on

days like this she's dead right she

needs a booty warmer that's how that's

how we roll even even your phone plan

you want you want an upgrade on your

phone plan when you go to Disney you

want the fast pass I want that upgrade

like we're always looking to that little

that little that little upgrade well I

God want you to have an

upgrade in 2025 don't you do 2024 on

repeat don't you just keep getting the

same old same old looking around going

well here we are again you got nothing

to be excited about if you're not

stepping up you've got nothing to look

forward to in this new year if you're

not deciding I'm moving my life forward

I'm not hanging out anymore something's

changing would you turn to someone tell

them something's got to change something

got to

change something got to change this year

that's exactly right don't settle for

the

standard when Jesus died for you to live

in first

class Jeremiah chapter 10 verse 23

Jeremiah 10:23

says

this I know Lord that a man's way of

life is not his

own no one who walks determines his own

steps notice that phrase no one who

walks determines his own steps in other

words if you are deciding your own steps

without Jesus that means you ain't going

nowhere you ain't walking

it's only when I say God lead my life

God I'm going to do it your

way my way fails your way succeeds I

want you to lead my life your word is a

lamp to my feet a light to my path show

me how to do this thing called marriage

show me how to handle these people that

I work

with yes sir show me how to handle these

people I call Family let's just keep

going what I'm I'm sorry I'm meddling

now I I if God isn't leading I'm not

stepping I've got to step in my life but

but but I I want to do it his way it's

critical that you and I know God's

direction for life if not you're driving

the wrong way all

year you ever missed a turn you ever

like missed an exit and the only place

to turn around is like 75 more miles

that way and then finally you you get to

take the offramp and come back oh it as

soon as I realized I missed it I missed

an exit and especially siries young turn

turn turn turn and I wasn't even

listening but but it's okay so here we

go and and I'm all the way past it and

the whole time I'm passing

God like I'm just frustrated because I

know I'm wasting time I'm wasting time

I'm wasting time oh my God I passed that

car I passed that car now they're going

to pass me like all of that's going on

in my head there's nothing worse than

knowing you're going the wrong way in

life and you got to turn around and come

back eventually can I tell you something

there's a lot of us in the room today

I've been here I've done this maybe

you're watching today and you you

understand that you recognize you know

that where I'm going in life is not

right this is the wrong direction and

it's better to make the uturn now and

get back in course get back into

alignment with God's plan and God's word

for your life so that you can have every

promise that he says we've got to get

our lives in order because here's what I

found you can have a good heart and good

intentions and still be

lost I I never wanted to miss a turn it

was never my intention let's just pass

this exit and see what happens I never

did that

intentionally but I found I had good

intentions I had a good heart but I

still I've still got lost has nothing to

with you with with you being a

good-hearted person good-hearted people

are still wasting time good intentioned

people are still not on the right course

in life and we've got to pull it

together so that our home is in the

right direction our money is going in

the right direction our family our

career marriage that my heart my peace

is in the right direction we got to make

sure that we're doing it God's way and I

want to talk to you just real quick

today about just three simple keys to

help you st step up this year not step

backwards not step

sideways step

up the first the first thing you're

going to have to do if you're going to

step up this year if you're going to if

you're going to if you're going to get

off the ground this year if you're going

to leave the past and get into your

future is you're going to have to have

some great goals in life you're going to

have to know that you've got some things

that you want to achieve in anybody have

something in mind that you would like to

see happen this year that hasn't

happened in your life yet yeah yeah but

let me help you with something make sure

that you're outthinking your

family your family will be a lid on your

life if you don't allow God to breathe

something inside of you cuz you're not

here to just repeat what your family's

done you're here to set a new standard

for as for me in my

house oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah yeah I I I

I want my grandkids going man thank God

for Grandpa Scott I I I I want Saba

Scott I I I I want them celebrating

where where we went to my mom and dad

had the same desire for our family let's

make it better Cindy and I had the same

desire let's make it better Caleb and

Liz are going to make it better Malachi

toah we want to continue to upgrade our

family but we do it knowing that we got

handfuls of Christ and we're going

somewhere in life but let me help you

make sure something you got to make sure

that you're climbing the right thing in

life right you got to make sure you're

climbing right careers dreams and

degrees and and and and and and fin

starting a new business that's all good

they're great Pursuits watch this but

they're terrible

goals they're great

Pursuits but they terrible goals they're

not worth the

climb why why would you say that Scott

because you can achieve the career and

still be empty

oh you can you can get the degree and be

frustrated don't even ask people how

many people got degrees that they don't

even use them let's keep let me just get

back I'm sorry just let me just get back

to the you you you can have a successful

business and your joy be

bankrupt so careers and degrees and

businesses are not the goal in life that

is not the goal in life so many people

have reached the top of those ladders

and then jumped off because they found

out there was nothing waiting on them at

the top and if you're here today and you

got all these aspirations and you got

all this vision board I love that Dream

Baby Dream but understand those are not

the ladders those are not the real goals

in life if you're going to reach the top

you got to make sure that the effort is

worth the climb so so how is it how is

it that we keep stepping in life and and

and and and how do I achieve the best so

that I'm fulfilled you got to realize

this watch this the career the business

the the dreams all of those aspirations

they're great but but but those

achievements are only steps on the

ladder they're not the purpose of the

ladder your goal in life

Jesus knowing him experiencing him

loving him having him speak to your

heart my heart more after him I see what

he sees I I hear what he says I love

what he loves the word of God is a I I'm

pursuing Christ and do you know what I'm

standing on a

career I'm standing

on just a a a a business the degree in

other words as I was pursuing Christ I

experienced those things on the way up

but they were not the focus of my

life it is fully possible that we get so

focused on achieve build gain grow get

that we're coming up empty and we can't

figure out where's Jesus in the mix and

if he's not the focus then nothing on

the way up is ever going to mean

anything to you but when my eyes are on

him he makes everything that elevates

life gives it purpose gives it worth

gives it value brings it alive on the

inside there's nothing like knowing that

he is the goal in my life Jesus is the

highest goal he's what brings

fulfillment in this new year he's the

one that gives you purpose in this year

not just success but satisfaction on the

inside where you lay your head on the

pillow at night and you feel good in the

neighborhood like this is the way I'm

supposed to be living right here

there's nothing like that ladies and

gentlemen that Joy get your laugh back

this

year let me just help you with something

this is not

impressive we got to fix that and I'm

telling you it's possible to be climbing

something and the whole

time you should enjoy the

climb there should be some Joy on the

way

up what makes it joyful because you got

your eyes full of the one that makes the

whole climb worthwhile Jesus makes life

worth living outside of him I don't care

what you achieve what you get your hands

on it's never going to replace him in

your life would you tell three folks you

need Jesus you you just need Jesus just

tell somebody you need

him Philippians 4:13 read this loud read

Philippians 4:13

read out that here we go 1 2 3 I strive

towards the

prize the upward

call I strive towards the prize of

Jesus and he's only going to take me up

he's taking me forward he's taking me

higher I strive and notice there's a

reward the prize the

payoff ladies and gentlemen you need to

pay off bigger than your bank

account cuz there's folks that got

plenty in the bank account and they

still haven't hit a Payday yet they're

still empty and they're struggling and

things are falling apart some of the

wealthy in fact the two wealthiest men

in the world their homes have fallen

apart has nothing to do with wealth I

know we think if I could just get me one

of them baby they got one of them and

they're making other new ones and it's

still not enough you need Jesus to

satisfied you need Jesus to be the goal

if you're going to step up this year I

got to make sure that the ladder I'm

climbing has Jesus at the top and I'll

enjoy everything that's on the way up

and he will continue to bless every step

but you got to keep him the focus any

other goal other than Jesus means I'm

climbing in the wrong direction I've got

to make sure he's the focus it's

critical Proverbs chapter 10 says the

Proverbs 10 · chapter mention

blessing of the Lord makes a person rich

and he adds no sorrow to it that means

when I'm pursuing him not

them when I'm

pursuing him Jesus then all of a sudden

the things that I'm enjoying along the

way don't come with strings attached

right that when I got to this level now

it's going to cost me and I owe them oh

yeah then there's that no no no no no

when you do it Jesus's way you get all

that he brings with it and he says I

don't have any Dark Side there's not a

backside that's going to come back and

bite you later I don't add sorrow to my

blessing you can really enjoy the

journey there's nothing like that in the

world so you need right goals number two

you need right

people people do not look at your

neighbor right now just keep looking

this

way can I help you with

something no one cl climbs

alone no one climbs

alone I know you got your ladder and you

got your goals and you got your vision

board that's all good but you need the

right people in your life to help you

climb that ladder yes you do I need I

get and you need some guys who are going

storms I'm so glad they're down there

right

now

hey oh hi how y'all doing up there I got

we all eye to eye right

now I I need I need some boys in my

life that when when I'm up here and

going uh and I start to come down say

get your tail back up yeah okay yeah

yeah yeah they won't let me come down

the ladder no no no they're calling me

out they're pushing me they're on me

they won't let me mess this thing up

they see things going sideways in the in

the house say Scott Scott H how are you

and Cindy doing y'all y'all okay I ain't

I'm not I'm not liking the vibe I feel

right now I need some guys who are

stabilizing my ladder that when I've got

some dreams I'm going for I got some

guys who I can talk about it and

celebrate it and we're in this thing

like I've got my posy because the higher

you go in life the more you need some

people helping to stabilize your life I

just got a question who is in your life

helping you reach the top of everything

you want to have who believes in you who

believes in the vision who believes in

your drive who believes in your

relationship thank you very much gentl

who is it that is standing and believing

with you who's encouraging and

strengthening

you you need some people who will tell

you stop looking

down got to get our eyes back on where

we're going not where we've been right

we we need these voices okay let me ask

you this who's distracting

you who's not stabilizing your ladder

but they're actually shaking your

ladder that you're trying to go after

Jesus and they going again this Sunday

you're going back to

church bro did you see that girl dang

look at

her there'll be some people that will

pull you off of your

climb you got to make sure you got the

right voices in your life and let me

just tell you something your ears and

your heart are not open for everybody

right I love you but you got to qualify

in order to be in my world and to be my

ladder holder you got to you got there's

got to be some things I see and I

understand about how you what you're

pursuing cuz if we're not pursuing the

same thing then you climbing One ladder

I'm climbing another it don't work that

way homie we got to be going in the same

direction we got to have the same drive

we got to have the same heart I need you

put there's going to be days I want to

quit I need you calling me out there's

going to be some days that I'm going to

be shook I need you to stabilize me if I

start to come off this thing I need you

to catch me and put me back on the

ladder and get me back up there again I

need some right people in my life

Proverbs 13:20 look at this here's what

Proverbs 13:20

it says read it with me walk with the

wise and become wise associate with

fools I don't want to be be a fool in

someone else's

life and I don't want to have a posy of

fools hanging around

me because I can do foolish stuff all by

myself y'all know what I'm talking about

I need people who who know where I say I

want to go but they think different than

I am so when I'm acting like a fool they

acting wise and they help get me back

together that's all of us in this room

Hebrews chapter 10 says this let us

think of ways to motivate one another to

acts of love and good works how can we

encourage each other in the right

direction it don't take all that that's

the wrong direction yes it does take all

of that what do you mean you're tithing

you giv that church man now don't you

bunch of

crooks you don't need ladder shakers in

your

life I love people I got a bunch of

people in my life but I don't invite

everybody to hold my

ladder and you better get a posy around

you that are your people oh you need

some people you need a family you need

that crew you need your boys you need

your girls that when you put a call out

you can shoot a text to them you could

you could be laughing you could be

texting about the ball game you can be

texting about crazy ridiculous stuff

shooting ridiculous memes to each other

Pastor Freddy Pastor Rick and I have our

own thread on Instagram and the whole

thing is entitled foolishness and we

send all kinds of stupid stuff we see on

social media to each other just

foolishness is all it is but I promise

you this I could pick up my phone right

now and shoot a text a text message to

Pastor Rick pray for me I got a big

decision to make and boom we going

spiritual right now there's not anything

we have to do to try to fix it or try to

rearrange why because that's my guy

that's one of my ladder holders he's in

my world I can hit Pastor Freddy I got

some boys in the room that if I put a

call out we can go from fun to Faith

right now and it's not a weird twist you

got to get the right voices in your life

sure

do the higher you climb the stronger

your Bas has got to be number three I'm

done with

this you you need the right

goals you need the right goals because

you see it don't matter that you got a

ladder I mean if you're trying to work

on this part of the building over here

but you set your ladder up over

here we don't don't matter if you

climbed it you can't even reach what

you're supposed to reach I need Jesus at

the top of this thing I I got to know

I'm moving toward I got to have the

right goals number two I got to have the

right people in my

life and number three you got to have

the right

step M that's what I said they said uhoh

yeah we going

there you got to make sure that your

steps in life are higher not

sideways that took a little bit of a

push that was a whole lot

easier that is a little more

work

then right there you can step backwards

you can be stepping just stepping

wrong you got to make sure you're

stepping up you got to make sure that

there's a you you know the focus you

know the purpose of the lad his name is

Jesus I've got my posy around me to

stabilize L because I'm going somewhere

but now I've got to make sure that I'm

stepping up in life you you got to get

an attitude that you want more than

where you are right now I'm not hanging

out here I'm not satisfied

one this is not meant to lean

on this is not meant to sit on this is

not a

chair this is to climb in life it's to

take me somewhere and I can't just sit

back and say well life's going to give

me whatever it's going to give me just

going to take whatever it is ladies and

gentlemen we're supposed to be going

after Excellence not average we're

supposed to be reaching in life we're

supposed to be praying for more we're

supposed to be expecting more we're

supposed to be climbing in life I should

be better this year than I was last year

and I'm trusting that last year I was

better than I was the year before I'm

not the same person when you get around

people you ain't seen for a minute and

they say I mean what's wrong with you

man you you just

changed look back back and go thank

you been working on changing a long

time and by the way if they're not

willing to grow and climb their own

ladder God bless you I'll send you a

card just don't need to hang with you

cuz your foolishness is getting in my

head making me think thoughts I wasn't

thinking and I don't need the

help you got to make sure the right the

right people but but we got to make the

right steps in life mediocrity is the

definition of

stuck if I'm expecting nothing I'm stuck

if I'm not pursuing something I'm stuck

oh let me help you if you're not excited

about the next season of your life

you're

stuck you got a lid built on your life

and there's no room for Hope to move

there's no room for joy to reach there's

there's no room for you to see beyond

where you are that's why hope has no

place in your life and if there is no

hope there is no

faith faith is the substance of things

first hoped for Hope sees Faith steps if

hope can't see it Faith can't move

towards it so if I don't have hope if

I'm not believing for something that's

outside of my present world then I have

nothing to believe for then there's

nothing for Faith to step towards my

life becomes just just enclosed it it

implodes there's nothing new going on

and what happens is when we hit those

places I start putting pressure on

people to make me feel better about me I

start making expectations of the spouse

I start demanding I start looking and

when people don't feed me the way I want

to be feed I get angry and I start

pointing fingers and I start lashing out

and I

start when the truth is if I would have

opened my heart and begin to hope for

something more I'm so distracted by the

possibilities of breakthrough and next

seasons and upgrades in my life that I

ain't got time to fool with the

foolishness I'm stepping up and I'm

moving and I will Overlook and I will

let you say something wrong to me and I

will just step right around you I don't

even have time to respond to it I got to

I'm more excited about my future than I

am what's going on right here let's go

when hope steps in when you and I are

taking the right steps we see what we've

not seen we begin to believe for what

we've not had we've put our hands on yet

in fact if you're not praying for

something bigger than what you have

right now something that's going to take

God to get done then God doesn't even

have a job in your

life

wow I've got to believe oh here's a word

we don't like because it cuts Against

the Grain we think it's just we so try

to rationalize and box it all up and put

it in our little Cranium but I promise

you everything God wants to do is not

going to fit in your head it's a thing

called miracles in faith that I can have

what I don't presently have that I can

do what I presently can't do because I

believe my God is able to

do

exceeding

abundantly above all I could ask or

think according to his power that's

working in me hey

this is where I

belong this is where I belong not caught

down in the past not in the low life I'm

supposed to get my head up because when

I get up here you know what happens up

here I see further than I've ever seen

right I'm not I'm I don't have the same

view I I'm I'm believing for more I I

can see a way out of the situation I can

see beyond just people's opinions in my

life I can see beyond what family told

me I should expect I'm seeing something

higher I'm seeing something greater so

let me just kind of put it this way to

you stop asking God to help you manage

what you should be

defeating

wow God if you would just help me just

help me get through this

addiction help you in the addiction how

about God break this off my life

how how about

that Lord just help me help me learn how

to how how to deal with this you know

our family situation Lord just just

bring it give us some peace no no no no

no no

no no peace is not something that God

sticks in and say okay y'all just manage

no peace is what I make decisions that

put peace in my life and peace begins to

heal and strengthen and restore and put

it in a different realm ladies and

gentlemen we've got to stop protecting

what God is trying to remove in our

lives and we can get so used to owning

and holding on to stuff it's become such

a part of our

world that we don't even pray the right

prayers I'm going to go into this in a

couple of weeks so when I bring it up in

a couple of weeks you need to say Amen

again but when Jesus saw blind

Bemus he said what do you

want Bame can go oh Lord if you would

just give me a more comfortable pad to

sit

on

right Lord if if you just put favor on

my life so more people would stop and

give me

money yeah what you're doing is you're

praying that God would bless you in your

condition make you better at your

condition instead of God heal me and

that's a big prayer because when you say

heal me who you have been and everything

you've relied on is now gone and now you

all your excuses are gone now I'm living

higher stronger I got to learn a new way

of thinking a new way of

interacting he wants to rescript

everything in your life in

25 but you and I have to make sure that

we're upgrading so watch this watch

this we got to keep looking up

don't don't don't look don't look down

focus on the next step and by the way

you can't skip

steps if if they advertise skipping

steps in Jesus on Instagram it's a fraud

don't buy into

it every step towards Jesus is a step

higher and a step away from your past

number two you got to keep looking out

you got to get vision for your life you

you you got to see where you're going

you got to come alive in this you you

you you got to know that more is on the

way you got to see further so you can

pray bigger prayers and believe for more

and number three you got to keep talking

about the

climb talk about it let me put it this

way your language has to climb before

you

do before you ever achieve a goal you'll

be talking about the

goal before you ever get the house

you'll be talking about shopping for the

house it's always going to be a part of

your language before it's a part of your

reality you and I have to develop a

language around where we're going not

just where we've been stop talking about

the past and start talking about the

future when this happens and when this

happens and I'm going to experience this

and I'm doing this in 21 days of advance

and I'm signing up for Life groups and

I'm doing that's crazy why would you do

that because I'm stepping up I'm not

where I used to be I'm living in an

upgrade I'm going after someone greater

in my life I've got to challenge the

status quo I got to challenge what I'm

comfortable with to get to what he's

comfortable with it's time for me to put

my focus on him and get it off of me I'm

not the focus in

2025 he

is so it's not about my comfort I want

more of

him it's not about what I enjoy no what

do you

enjoy it's not about what's convenient

for me no what's going to move me

towards

you oh connect for so I can serve on

Sundays let's go

but there's going to be people there you

don't know yeah they're also at

Walmart they're also at Publix mm don't

know them you sure enough interact with

them we go to places all the time we

don't know the people you can handle

connect for you can handle a life group

yes you can you're a big

boy you can take your wife with you

she'll help you I'm just saying we we

got to do these things together proverbs

4 11 says this I have directed you in

the way of wisdom and I have led you

along straight paths when you walk your

steps will not be hindered and when you

run you will not

stumble hits happen but you're not

falling off the ladder when you're doing

it his way he'll guard you he'll guide

you he'll protect you in that marriage

in that business in that dating scenario

he'll Lead You In All That the crisis

disappointment the crisis and dis woman

are going to come this year it's going

to happen but it doesn't have to knock

you off your ladder you can be stable

you can be strong and keep moving

towards him no obstacle is big enough to

stop your step no excuse is allowed he's

stepping with

you here's the most important thing I

could tell you today Colossians 2 Verse

Colossians 2:6

6 says

this you have accepted Christ Jesus as

your lord now keep on following in

him every other faith in the

world requires you to

climb in order to be good enough to

appease and be accepted by this

God climb the ladder do this don't do

this dress this way act this way eat

this don't eat this show up on this

climb climb climb so you can get to

where they are every other religion in

the world does this

Jesus came from heaven and climbed down

the

ladder met us right

here let me help you get on the

ladder and you and I will start from

Step number

one this is where you're accepted not

there this is where you're loved not

there this is where you're forgiven not

there that's why you can enjoy the climb

with

Jesus everything else is all performance

and scorecards and

failure right here it's a climb of Joy

it's a step of hope I'm getting better

because he's stepping with me and he's

protecting guiding and leading the whole

way would you stand to your feet please

goals

people and

steps at your

GPS for this new

year goals people and

steps this is how you move forward you

get your goals right it's him not the

stuff the stuff is fine nothing wrong

with the stuff but experience the stuff

on the way to him goals people the right

ones around you wrong ones are shaking

your ladder who do you need to make a

change with this year who do you need to

invite into your life this year that's

going to stabilize your

ladder I'm just telling you

now you think and act like the top five

people you spend time

with you either think down or you think

up based on who you're spending time

with

that's how you handle your money based

on how those five people act in your

life that's how your home your marriage

will work those top five people how your

walk with Jesus those top five people

people are either pushing you to him or

pulling you off of that

ladder choose well my

friend cuz we can't afford to have a

fall this year right goals people and

then Step It Up father thank you for the

ability to move our life forward that

we're not stuck and we don't have to

live grounded but we can move up towards

you help us this year to activate our

life I'm not sitting back I'm not going

to look around and get angry when I see

other people move and I'm still where I

am no I'm climbing I'm coming after you

and as I step on every one of these

Ambitions these these Pursuits these

these other things in my life that I've

been after thank you for that I will

achieve the degree and thank you that

the business will start and thank you

that the promotions are on the way and

thank you thank you for these amazing

accomplishments that I'll experience but

all of them all of them will be seen and

accomplished while I'm pursuing you you

are my highest goal you are what I'm

after you are the highest thing that

could ever be attained knowing you is

everything so God today I pray you would

challenge us that that that that we

wouldn't just sit back and watch Life

happen but we would engage and move

towards you we need you we need you I

I'm not built to do this without you I

need your leading I need your wisdom I

need your peace I need I need your

direction I need your hope I need your

joy I need to know that you're with me

in this journey today God be with my

friends and I thank you Jesus that you

came all the way to the bottom and your

grace Embraces us and puts us on the

first level you put us on the first rung

and you're climbing it all with us thank

you for that hope and thank you for that

rest and that Embrace and that

acceptance today God we we lean into you

we call on you we pursue you we thank

you that this year is going to be

everything you promised it would be

you're good you're God and you're

faithful in Jesus name amen amen amen
