I hope you're encouraged I came into my

office a couple of uh it's been a couple

of weeks now and and uh when I came in

somebody I I I saw something on my desk

and I walked over getting closer and

closer I saw Jesus in my

office and I found out Jesus is really

little can you get

that little

Jesus in case you've never seen these

they're all over Tik Tok they're all

over Instagram like they like these

little jesuses are showing up everywhere

and Jesus showed up in my office and I

was kind of excited about that and so

I've had I've had Jesus in my office and

I begin to think you know Jesus is I

mean okay so he's in this he he looks

little right there but I tell you what

makes Jesus

little it's when I do this to

him I I got Jesus locked

up I've got a lid on his ability in my

life and I'm not letting him out right I

can see Jesus because I love

him I can stir Jesus up every now and

then but I'm not letting him out I've

got him

confined he could be more but I've got a

lid on his ability to move in my life

and and therefore Jesus in my life in my

marriage is

small he's an

accessory Jesus is

cute look how cute Jesus

is but he's

limited it's a sad thing to

think that you got so much ability I

have so much opportunity but I still

keep it so very

small today I want to talk to you for a

few minutes about breaking the

stagnation in your life so that you can

move

forward it's time to leave here and go

there we we we see this played out in

the book of Deuteronomy I'll set this up

for

you Moses goes and he gets Israel out of

Egypt and they come across the red sea

and God brings him to this mountain

called Mount Si and it's it's on Mount

Si where God's giving the Ten

Commandments and and we have this this

epic story going on the golden C is at

the bottom all of that's happening and

and Moses comes down with the with the

Ten Commandments and and he's there with

the people and these people have been

for generations and generations they've

had a slave

mindset they've been locked up in

bondage for 430 years their grandparents

grandparents grandparents grandparents

grandparents had taught them how to

think and act in that mindset in that

limitation that there's only so much I

can do and then I'm stuck they had never

experienced this level of freedom and

love and opportunity before but now it's

presented to them but they didn't know

how to handle it they're so used to

limitations and small thinking that they

had never been here before and now the

god of every of the universe had just

spoken to them and given him his word

word and his plan and he said I've got a

promised land that I'm taking you to

it's flowing with milk and honey it's

going to be bomb y'all Reesey cups

everywhere this is what God is telling

them and

they're and they're bulking at it

they're they're they're stuck on it and

the Bible says in Deuteronomy chapter 1

Deuteronomy 1:6–7

verses 6 through 7 check

this when we were at Mount Si the Lord

Our God said to us read this

you have stayed at this mountain long

enough it's time to break camp and move

on would you turn to a couple people and

just tell them you've been here long

enough you've been here long enough I'm

not talking about this service I'm

talking about your situation like don't

leave yet we're almost done we're not

going to be here

long understand where they were at Mount

Si it was God's perfect will like God

brought them out of Egypt to get to

Mount Si so there was nothing wrong with

being there there was just something

wrong if they stayed

there where where you are right now I'm

not calling where you are bad I'm not

saying you're outside of you miss God

what's wrong with you that's horrible

I'm not saying that at all you could be

standing in a wonderful place but I'm

just here to tell you right now it's not

a place where you should be

unpacking you got to realize that

there's another step in my life I'm

supposed to take there's more on the way

my best days are ahead of me God isn't

finished advancing and upgrading my life

I'm going to keep moving forward don't

stop get it get

it like I like this is this is the

mindset like I'm not I'm not I've been

living stuck I've been living watch this

comfortable right quite honestly if I'm

going to be honest I'm caught in a

cycle and I this year looks like the

past six years cuz I'm just doing it on

repeat I suck air I pay taxes I go to

work I clean the

house it's on repeat I don't have

anything new going on there's nothing

exciting there it's just it's just me

here I am again here I am again here I

we I'm just caught in this routine and

God was saying you trusted me to come

out of Egypt I need you now to trust me

for the next step of your life too

there's still more to come I'm not

finished yet have you ever felt

stuck have you ever felt frustrated with

life empty not really excited about

tomorrow the the next day like like like

the next big thing coming ladies and

gentlemen can I just make a public

service announcement time and life are

moving quick do you realize this is

March of

2025 give it three weeks and we're going

to see Christmas ads coming up on TV

really like it it won't be long now it's

on the way

like life is not waiting on anybody it's

moving and you're not meant to stand in

the same place and suck air you were

made to move into territories you've

never been in before which means you got

to take some uncomfortable steps into

some places and meet some people then

it's not been familiar but you got to

step into that world anyway you're

graced for it God's hand is on your life

to move you there and until you go there

you're never going to experience

everything God has for you for Israel

Mount

Si it became that cycle it became that

place where where they were just hanging

out it was a place of comfort we just

we're just glad to be out of there and

I'm just settling in here and and

whether it was fear Comfort or

Disobedience all of that was keeping

Israel from moving forward and God had

to tell Moses tell the people pack your

back bags I didn't bring you out to

leave you here I brought you out to take

you

in don't get comfortable while you're

still in the process because here's what

happens when you and I begin to live

caught in this cycle of frustration and

emptiness and we got Comfort going on

and and and and fear I I just can't do

that no I don't know anybody I can't

tell all that stuff is holding us

hostage it leaves us spiritually

emotionally relationally

professionally

stagnated and we're living life based on

experiences and memories instead of

dreams and

expectations we were made for more than

where we are right now and here's what's

scary this stagnated mindset that they

had that Israel had this Comfort this

this this this love affair that they

were having with this feels so good but

we're just so glad to be here oh my God

that that that world right there it

turned an 11 day journey into a 40e

delay the promised land was literally 11

days that way but because they were so

enamored with comfort and I just want

life to be nice and I just want to be

they weren't taking ground they they

they weren't really impressed with the

promise they just wanted comfort and or

they were afraid of a new

they were missing on everything God had

planned and the reason he brought them

out of Egypt to begin with the best was

still ahead of them here's what I know

ladies and gentlemen because I'm just

like you we waste time money and excuses

protecting Comfort avoiding change and

defending our

disorders we put different words on it

I'm no longer out of order I just have a

dysfunctional

situation yeah well I happen to be the

funk in the middle of the

dysfunction this is this is how we begin

to live and and and and it's all going

it's like it's like we keep putting

thicker icing on burnt

cake thinking that it's going to get

better well I'll just I'll just ignore

it well I'm sure it's going to be fine

well I'm just going to let it go well

there's no sense in dealing with it and

then all of a sudden when life gets

worse and worse and the burnt taste

keeps coming out in the cake then we

begin to look look to God and blame God

why don't you fix this why are you

letting this happen to me and God's

going kiss my grits well okay that's

that's my interpretation that's not I

can't give you scripture for that go

God's I've laid out ahead of you Jesus

said this I died so that you wouldn't

just have life but life more abundant

there's more out there I didn't die for

you to live in mediocrity I didn't die

for you to live in almost I didn't die

for you to live stuck and held hostage

in a place called Comfort I died for you

to take bold steps forward greater is he

who is in you than the stuff that is

around you step baby walk believe me

trust me go get it don't stop get it get

it this is this is what God's message

was to his

people the moment you decide to move

ladies and gentlemen everything around

you has to move with you everything

begins to change and I need to lay this

out cuz some of y'all going you know

what you're right I do need a different

marriage it's time to move that's not

what I'm saying here and don't go

quitting your job no my pastor so me I

got to move so I'm just getting I'm

that's not what I'm saying you don't

need a different marriage but I will

tell you this your marriage needs a

different you all

right you don't need a a different

job but your job needs a different

you and the moment you change that's

when things come alive and what you call

a curse becomes a Joy because you see it

different you feel it different you're

experiencing it different you don't need

a different church

right you don't need a different Church

you need to just engage in the one

you're sitting in right now and you

begin to get involved and you have this

life-giving force of community around

you that begins to feed you with joy and

laughter and friends that are lifting

there is nothing like that in the end

this place was never intended to to to

come on a Sunday and in jet as fast as

you can I'm glad you're here and it

takes a minute to experience that but

ladies and gentlemen this place was

meant for community and to do life

together and to laugh together and be

lifted together listen there's nobody in

this room that's after your

spouse no no no you can rest in here

there's everybody in this room we don't

want anything from you we want

everything for you we want you elevated

we want God's best for your life that's

what this place is about and that's what

the body of Christ is supposed to be we

need to change our mind so we can

actually enjoy the life that we have

right now we've been here long enough

let's roll that's exactly what God's

word was saying this is played out big

time in the story of a guy named Abraham

y'all know Father Abraham had many sons

and many sons had Father Abraham and I

am

so right arm Father Abraham okay yeah

those are all the churchy people those

are the churchy people

people got flashback I start to twitch

when I think about those days this's guy

named

Abraham Abraham is like the father of

our

faith we see in in Genesis 12 verse one

a real popular scripture if you look

really close in the room someone's got

it tatted on them somewhere I'll promise

you but it says this in Genesis

121 the Lord had said stop stop stop

stop stop have you know how you know

that the word had said means past

tense I didn't realize this until I

begin to look into the he the the

original language I be to see that I've

always read it the Lord told him the

Lord said the Lord had

said the Lord had said to Abram go from

your country your people your father's

household to the land that I will show

you in this verse God did tell Abram he

said I need you to leave your crazy

people I know you some crazy people in

your family I know you do you want of

them but in this situation God said I

need you to leave them why because the

place where that family was was in a

place called the ER of the caldan and it

was a massive place of paganism

godlessness in fact Godless little G not

Big G but but little G they had little

Gods everywhere and God said Abram I

need you to come out of all of that

Godless influence and I need you to step

into a new realm so I can do something

with you that's is going to transform

culture and Humanity I'm calling you out

and that's that's what God but the Bible

says that God had said which means when

we get to Genesis CH 12 we're talking

about a conversation that had already

happened so if I back up just a couple

of verses earlier than that in Genesis

chap 11 we get a fuller picture as to

what this is about because before we get

to this where we're reminded of what God

told Abram we see where Abram has left

ER he left you know how you spell ER

that that's like you are like he they

left her and they were traveling but

watch this God had told him to leave

your family what did Abraham do he

brought his

daddy and he brought his

nephew yeah yeah it it's really

interesting here how he was trying to

obey God on his terms

I'm going to I'm going to do an almost

obedience I'll give you I'll give you

70% of me and he was trying to barter

with God and the Bible says that when

they left he brought things with him

that he never should have brought which

was the influence that would hold him

hostage and the Bible says the Bible

says in Genesis 11 just before what we

just read in Genesis 12 it says this

read it with me but when they came to

the city of Heron they settled there

instead put that map up put that map up

let me let me take you to school real

fast check this

out down here on the bottom right is

where they started ER of the calans

that's where Abraham lived that's where

his tore up family and all the paganism

and the idols were and they traveled

that red line all the way up you see

Heron at the top

that's where CH that's where this this

verse is taking place they're traveling

Abraham got his daddy got his nephew got

his wife all their kids they go all the

way up to Heron and they were supposed

to cross Heron and come all the way down

here to where Jerusalem is into Canaan

that was the promised

land but the Bible says they got to

Heron they got to the top

part and

stopped it's like we're almost and the

Bible says that they stopped because

Abraham's daddy is like I'm tapping out

I'm done I'm hanging right here I'm not

going any further and the promise given

to Abraham because he took an

influential voice with him talked him

out of going all the way right he

allowed a voice to change God's

direction for his

life and I will choose to stop partially

instead of completing fully what God

Said to do because voices determine

choices you be better be careful what

your family tells you about

Jesus family can be one of the biggest

draws on your life can be one of the

biggest encouragers also but you better

check your family you better check your

friends voices determined choices the

people in your life the people that you

hang with your posi just because you've

been doing life with them for seven

years don't mean there's got to be year

number eight all right and I'm not

saying they're bad I'm not saying they

anything wrong but if those voices are

not encouraging you to go all the way in

Jesus ladies and gentlemen they're a

draw and they will leave you stuck in

Heron and you'll go partway and you'll

miss fully what God had planned for your

life there's more don't stop now you got

to keep moving you got to roll it's time

to pack the bags I was made for more

than where I'm living do you know what

Heron represents Heron was the Midway

point do you know what Midway actually

means in a word that we use all the time

media medocity in the middle I've

settled from mediocrity I'm not living

in the best I'm not where I was I'm not

where I'm supposed to be I'm just

hanging out and now you're caught in a

spin cycle of frustration I'm irritated

life should be better and I know it

should be better I love God I want God's

best for my life but I'm hanging out and

I'm making excuses right here for why

I'm not walking in faith why I'm not

serving in the church why I'm not

reading my Bible why I'm not worshiping

why I'm not taking more steps in him I'm

just making excuses because I got voices

making me feel better about my

mediocrity I've learned to live down to

what they're saying instead of up to

what his promises are and I came to ring

the bell and wake you up and tell you

God's plans for you are greater than

where you're living right now do not

stop partway go all the way and get

everything God said you can

have there's more there's more there's

more heron

was holding Abraham

hostage it's he it it had locked him

down and he was living with halfway

faith it locked his family down locked

his home down but somewhere in there we

got to decide that it's time to choose

to really follow Jesus I'm going to put

my full weight on him I'm just going to

if his word says that I'm going to do it

I'm going to commit I'm I'm I'm here on

Sundays I I don't have this thing down

and I might even do it wrong but at

least I'm going to show up and just take

another step one step more than where

I'm living right now one step closer to

the promise I got to step out of Heron

to go towards the promise I've got to

change something in my life you got to

get serious about getting a healthy home

you got to go radical because I promise

you comfort will try to hold you back

and say it doesn't take all that it's

fine you can get by and ladies and

gentlemen inside of a home nice is a

dangerous word you don't want just a

nice home you you want one that's alive

and growing and laughter and joy and

hope we need that but it's One Step

Beyond where you are right now we got to

break out of that attitude that's real

big in our culture and it's called an

attitude of I right right you ever heard

of that all

attitude all right how's life all

right all right

it's all right you need Jesus Oh I got

him Jesus can do great things no he's

little in my life he ain't doing much we

got to get the lid off of him you got to

let him back out you got to you got to

you got to let him become the Lord and

the

lead of your life what's frustrating is

to know more than what we're

living you see the truth is none of us

need God to come down send angels and

tell us anything else we already know

more than what we're living all right

you know how I know that someone could

come and ask you I just don't know what

the next step for my life is and you can

give them 12 things to do that will move

them towards Jesus but you and I

struggle with the top

seven if we would just follow what we

already know Abraham stopped short of

his promise because his dad quit moving

the Bible says that his dad died at 205

years old that's my goal he died at 200

and don't laugh he died at

205 years old in Heron watch in Heron

that's where his daddy died and the

Bible scholars will debate on this as to

how much longer it was years that

Abraham stayed there and then he finally

left and he went towards the promised

land in other words watch

this Abraham just like you and I we

don't leave a place of comfort until

something dies in our life

usually we make big moves after we got

our

heartbroken why do we have to wait till

we disappointed before I decide to

change

something the company's closing and they

just dropped all of

us and all of a sudden we're in church

for the next four Sundays in a

row

Jesus what's amazing to me is Jesus

isn't mad at

that he's okay with that but it tells me

something he'll use the break Downs in

life in order to pry us out of a place

where we're stuck and I'm just refusing

to move and I love my comfort so much

I'm trading my I'm trading the promise

for my

comfort I'm I'm choosing to live as a

hostage inherent as opposed to a product

of the promise and I'm just trading it

out and I can't figure out why life

isn't working why I'm not excited

because I'm not moving you got to roll

with life you got to goes somewhere the

good news is this when Comfort dies

Jesus is there this past Friday there

was a young man came walking in he was

in our first service he came walking in

the offices on Friday he was driving by

the

property and something told him inside

in his heart go to that

place he drove in drove around the

property found the offices walked in the

front door Genesis met him there he was

emotional he just knew he had to be here

did the best thing in the world got him

with Pastor

Freddy the mayor of a free life

travel he spent a few minutes with

Pastor Freddy the young man prayed gave

his heart to Jesus right there in the

office he was right here on that in that

seat this morning in the 9:00

service he sh he's so hungry for an

answer when life is falling apart and we

run to Jesus when something dies in my

life and we run to Jesus he's there with

open arms and he doesn't have a

scorecard he's not throwing elbows or

mad at you says come on in here I know

it hurts I love you did did did God

cause the pain oh no no no God doesn't

cause those pains but he will use those

pains for his glory and for our good and

when we just say God I need you just

like this young man Sam he stepped in he

Not only was he here this morning he

came Friday night single young man he

came to love lab because he just wanted

to be be around where people were cuz he

needed Community ladies and gentlemen

you're not built to do life alone we

need each other we need a friend we need

a posy we need a group and if it's two

if it's three but you need people to do

your life with you're not made to do it

alone you're not built that way we're

built for Community it was it was God's

grace that evicted Israel from their

Mountain siiz comfort and it was God's

grace that got Abraham out of his half

half half-hearted uh that host situation

in Heron it it broke him loose in fact

we have a picture here on the rest of

the verses Deuteronomy Chapter 1 what we

Deuteronomy 1 · chapter mention

read in the beginning of today's message

listen to how this plays out verse six

God talking to his people you've been

here long enough that means you're made

for more I made you for more than

staying here your your best is in the

future verse seven it's time to break

camp and move on somebody shout let's

roll verse 7 he goes on to say this go

to the Hill Country in other words God

wasn't saying I'm going to send you but

there's no plan God's no I've got a

specific plan and if you read the rest

of that passage it was detailed God is

Not guessing what to do with your life

and it's not a one-size fits all he

knows who you are how he wired you your

talent your ability your personality

what makes you laugh what's your heart's

after he knows how to take all that and

send you somewhere not anywhere not

everywhere some somewhere it's designed

it's tailor made just for you that's his

plan it goes on to verse 8 he says this

look I am giving all this land to you

that word look doesn't mean just see it

with your natural eyes I need you to

start dreaming about it and perceive it

in your heart I need you to get excited

about it go suie suy this thing is about

to change in my world my best days are

coming and what's crazy is when

perspective changes it doesn't matter

what's happening out here when that Joy

hits you it elevates your life greater

is he who is in me than the stuff that's

going on around me when that hits ladies

and gentlemen all of a sudden your world

is different and then verse eight goes

on and says go in and occupy it in other

words this is not just a pipe dream it's

not just a spiritual fantasy this is a

real place I'm taking you to you can

live in it you can live in a promise you

can flourish in the promise the increase

the favor the joy the laughter the

dreams the peace the sleep at night all

of that is waiting for you but it's One

Step Beyond where you're standing right

now God's word was so specific to

them in fact this message

of roll with it let's go let's let's

let's move let's get up activate lead

your life forward this is this message

is the message of the entire

Bible God was always prying people out

of stuck

places because God connected movement to

Miracles watch this Israel was at the

Red

Sea and they came up against the Red Sea

they just left out of Egypt they're at

the Red Sea they're going and God said

quit crying and move literally that's

what God Said quit crying and move but

there's a circumstance step in

it step in the circumstance I'll split

it and get it out of your way but move

they did and God did stop crying about

the circumstance

step and when you step God moves the

miracle happens after you move okay you

don't believe me God gave Jacob a dream

he said your UNC laan he he's a

scoundrel he's a mess you need to to

leave your uncle get up pack up and

leave and Jacob did Esther she she was

there for a purpose to approach the king

and save her people but she had to move

to the king the king didn't invite her

in she put her life on the line and took

a risky step forward only for God to

sanction it and open doors the miracle

was on the other side of her step if she

hadn't a step nothing would have

happened but because she did God did and

everything changed oh the same thing

happened with a young girl named Ruth

she had to leave her home in Moab and

she had to move to Bethlehem it wasn't

until she got to Bethlehem that she met

a guy named Boaz and all of a sudden we

got all that love story going on what

about the lame man the lame man is

approached Jesus says you want to be

healed he goes yeah Jesus said pick up

your mat and walk pick it up and go you

can't no you can't stay here your

healing doesn't happen here your healing

happens as you go start walking what

about the woman who was caught in

adultery Jesus gets on the ground with

her protects her from all the idiots

that were in the area the religious

people throwing elbows and Jesus says I

love you I forgive you now listen get up

go and sin no more the man with the

withered hand I'm sick Jesus I have a

condition what do I do I want you to do

what you say you can't do what's that

stretch out your

hand you got to

move Peter is out on the boat

and he sees Jesus walking the water

Peter goes Jesus Jesus goes come

here leave a perfectly good boat come

here you want to be where I am come on

and Peter stepped out and did what we

still talk about this day is one of the

most crazy Miracles but Peter had to

step Jesus didn't come to him Peter had

to go to

him Jesus looked to us he looks at you

and me today he said You Weary you're

tired you feel beat

down come to

me all you who are weary and heavy laden

I will give you

rest rest is on the other side of your

step it's not coming to you it's not you

got to

step we get so insulated in where we are

and we so protect our excuses and we

make cases for them and we hold on to

them and we got reasons and I've got a

right to be where I am you don't know

what happened to me and you're right but

you can live at that mountain or you can

live hostage in hair and all you want

but if you want to get the promise of

God activated in your life you got to

take a step towards the promise you

can't stay here God's love his grace his

Mercy ladies and gentlemen all of that

he's for you and it's what got Israel

out of off the mountain it's what got

Abraham out of Heron and it's what's

going to move you from where you are to

where you need to be if you need a

miracle you got to

move if you want things to change you

got to step if you want the frustration

to go if you're tired of being

unfulfilled you tired of feeling stuck

let's roll let's go let's go we got to

move it forward let me help you with

this nothing moves until I

move nothing grows until I

grow nothing changes until I change

I think we're going to say that together

class are you ready nothing

grows until I grow until I grow nothing

changes nothing changes till I change

till I change nothing moves nothing

moves till I move till I move that's

life that's the

reality going to keep him locked

up keep him

small you're going to oh d he's so

cute it's my pet

Jesus when I hit a really rough

spot I'm going to get him

out I need

you okay things are pretty

good don't play with

him don't leave him little let him rule

your life and he'll move you from the

mountain he'll get you out of hair he'll

get you fully in the promises would you

stand to your feet

please you're made for more than where

you

are and that's not a slam on where you

are I celebrate where you are many of

you are where you are right now it took

courage to get to where you are right

now but can I tell you something where

you are right now was yesterday's

promise

where you are right now is tomorrow's

past if you don't keep stepping you'll

live in a past and repeat that past over

and over if you don't step you'll always

live in a past I've got to keep moving I

got to take one more step towards Jesus

I got to try again I got to show up on

Sunday I'm going to hit the Men's

breakfast I'm going to do some life

groups I just got I'm going to step into

this financial piece I'm I'm going to I

just got to I've got to move my life

whatever it takes we got to fix this

house I got to fix my mind what help do

I need I can't stay here the rest of my

life I will not live as a hostage it's

time to go it's time to go father thank

you for your word that just irritates

the hell out of our Lives you will not

leave us where we are you stir us you

you you prod us you you provoke us with

your blessings and your grace and your

mercy you're not here to hurt us you're

here to advance us to elevate our lives

and today God I pray for my friends in

this room their hearts are beating 90

mph they know it applies to them and

they don't like hearing it cuz they know

it's the truth it resonates on the

inside and I pray God that you would let

this in the most beautiful loving Godly

way let it haunt our hearts I pray and

stir and provoke us to have

conversations we've not been having and

entertain thoughts of leaving that I've

not had before I've unpacked my bags and

I put pictures on the wall it's time to

take it down pack it up and get ready to

go I'm calling the U-Haul I'm leaving

here I Was Made for More Than This Day

so God I pray your strength and your

courage so that people will understand

that there's a miracle on the other side

of this move if we'll take one more step

we can have the best of what you

promised love your people guide your

people let them feel the peace love draw

of your presence I pray in Jesus name

amen amen did I or did I not say you

were going to be encouraged yeah feel
