ever been in a

fight you ever been in an unfair

fight I'm not saying where you stacked

it in your favor I'm talking about where

it's all on you like it's unfair against

you have you ever been in one of those

fights some of you have heard me tell

the story before and some of you haven't

so I just want you to know I realize I'm

repeating this

story years ago when I was in high

school years

ago years and years once upon a

time I was in high school and and and

and I was a i i i i was a baseball guy

uh so I had my baseball letter jacket on

because it was football

season and and I'm this this is in in in

Virginia where I where I went to and

graduated high school I'm at the

football game Friday night football game

it's cold in Virginia and so I'm I'm

there and and and I wanted to get some

hot chocolate it's a good idea and so I

walked to the concession stand I got my

hot chocolate and just walking the

stadium I was just I was just moving

just I was cold so I walked I walked

from our sideline over to got the hot

chocolate decided to walk around the

other side of the stadium and when I was

crossing behind the visitor

side um there were some visitors that

weren't happy that I was wearing my

letter jacket on their side of the

field and so under the bleachers cuz

that's where I'm walking I'm walking

behind the bleachers there was about

four I it's four or five guy they they

they were all there say hey

bobcat that's who we were hey Bobcat

what you doing over here I said I I'm

going to the other side I'm just what

you doing on our side you on the wrong

side Bobcat you on the wrong side I'm

like oh

[Applause]

sugar they said you're on the wrong side

and they begin to let me know very

quickly they were getting ready to give

me a what for now if you don't know what

a what for is they're about to open up a

can on me is what I'm trying to tell

you they they started posturing around

me and here I am under the bleachers the

game's going on everyone's screaming I'm

over here by myself all I got is some

hot chocolate and I realize I'm getting

ready to get my heiny beat right here

underneath I mean this is on home field

this is really embarrassing it was

stacked I mean there there was four at

least four I'm sure there was like 75

waiting behind them but there was there

was four that were there like are you

serious and so the only thing that came

to my mind it's it's all I had it's all

I had it's embarrassing I know it's all

I had I

figured go

hard I said

okay that's me getting

forceful I was scared

senseless that's fine I took my jacket

off

if we're going to fight I didn't want to

get my blood on my jacket that have been

really embarrassing if we're going to

fight I just need you to know something

what's up Bob Cat I mean they were they

were bringing it man they had me show I

said somebody's going to go blind in one

eye that's all I could come up

[Applause]

with the the main guy leading the this

gang that was about to jump me he said

what

I said y'all y'all may beat me down but

somebody's going blind I'm pulling

somebody's eye out do you understand and

they're looking at me like what in the

world and I realized partway into it

that it started to click a little bit

and they they were starting to buy into

to my to what I yeah that's right

somebody's going BL and I'm I'm walking

around with my finger out like I'm

getting ready

to it's all I had

and the guy was like man you

crazy that's right I'm

[Applause]

crazy one of the other guys was said man

come on come on let him go it Ain that

and and they walked away and then I hit

the ground and after I got back up and

you know walked back to my side I never

went under those bleachers again I

promise you that it's all I had I I was

outmatched I was outnumbered it was St

act against me it wasn't good and all I

could think of to fight with was my

finger that's all I that's all I had

Philippians chapter 1 the Bible lays out

Philippians 1 · chapter mention

and tells us that there's going to be

some fights you're going to go through

in serving God there's going to there

it's it's going to hit in fact here's

what it says Philippians chap 1 verse 28

says this don't be afraid of your

enemies always be courageous

and this will prove to them that they

will lose and that you will win read

this with me because it is God who gives

you the

vicory your faith in

Christ doesn't repel it attracts

opposition because the Christ life is

taking you

somewhere and when you're moving forward

and taking ground

that is a threat to the enemy of your

life and so opposition is the response

opposition is educational it lets you

know you're going the right

direction not because you acting stupid

we I've had that kind of craziness too

but I'm talking about I'm doing what I

can to serve God I'm doing everything I

know to do to to to make things right

I'm not perfect I'm messing up I'm

falling down but man I keep coming after

him and when I get opposition and I get

push back whether it's in people whether

it's in situations whether it's in my

own emotions and I'm just feeling heavy

I've got all this stuff like where is

this coming from this this this fight is

stacked against me it lets you know that

you're not going the same direction of

the enemy I'm going in the opposite

direction of him and that is the right

direction the enemy comes to disprove

God's word to turn God into a liar in

your life his word doesn't work God

failed you does it for everybody except

except for you you can't put your full

weight on God you can kind of sort of

trust him maybe and if it goes through

you can give him a thank you but but you

can't really fully trust him because he

may not come through in your life and so

the enemy the Bible tells us in John

John 10 · chapter mention

chapter 10 he comes to steal to kill and

to destroy your hope your joy your faith

your confidence that's exactly what he's

after in this opening verse it tells us

don't be afraid of your enemies the

reason it tells you don't be afraid of

enemies is because enemies are

coming that that's why he addresses it

so don't be surprised don't be shook

number two he says this don't be afraid

always be courageous that means fear is

coming with

it fear fear is going to be one of those

things that's going to hit it's going to

attack your mind intimidation anxiety

you're you're going to feel overwhelmed

that is on the way it's a tactic of your

enemy it is his it is his desire to

become so overwhelming that you bail out

Tap Out quit walk away you stop pursuing

a future and you decide I'm just going

to hang right here I choose Comfort over

growth that's what the goal is stop your

advance and then it it finishes with

what we read together and God will

defeat your enemy and give you the

victory does anybody like the idea that

God does the fighting yes sir that's

right Moses put it this way stand still

and see the salvation of the

Lord stop trying to fight at yourself

and let God deal with the

situation there's a story in the Bible

that just so aligns with this that I

want to kind of lean into and I want to

look at the drama of this

story the stories of a Nation called to

Israel all the all these people they

were in bondage in Egypt and Mo God

sends Moses in to go get them Moses go

get my people and you know the story the

10 plagues hit they're coming out they

face a Red Sea they go through that

Pharaoh tried to chase them through it

the waters close on top of them drowns

them get to Mount Si Ten Commandments

are given and then they're moving

forward all of this is happening they

get to they get to the next place in

their life where they're about to enter

the promised land the whole reason God

brought them out of Egypt was not to

leave them in a Wilderness he brought

them out to take them in someone say

that he brought them out to take them in

he brought them out to take them he

brought you out to take you in he didn't

bring you out to leave you halfway

mediocre kind of jacked up almost no

that's what not what J Jesus brings you

out of where you were to take you all

the way into his peace all the way into

his Joy all the way into His blessings

that's what he wants you to live in but

there's going to be some push back

there's going to be some opposition

there's going to be some Giants just

like Israel experienced and the Bible

says when they got to the edge of the

promised land the whole reason that God

brought them out and did all of those

Miracles brought them here and then the

Bible says that there were 12 Spies that

were sent into the land go spy out the

land find out what it is and the Bible

says that 10 of them came back with a

negative report and two came back with a

positive report and the nation believed

the negative report they went into fear

crying they they wanted to go back to

Egypt that they were they were a mess

all this is going on and watch this

because of their disbelief in what God

had promised them they actually went on

a 40-year walking

funeral God said this generation will

die everybody who's 20 years old old and

above will die off before you get to

come back and try it

again this is a this is a crazy story as

to an almost moment that they could have

had the best but they forfeited today I

want to talk to you about moving into

your promise moving into how do we

navigate stuff that tries to keep us out

of the best that God has for us and it's

locked up in this story the first thing

I would tell you if you're going to get

into your promises you got to get your

butt

right turn your neighbor tell him he's

talking to you you need to listen right

now he's you need to get your butt right

that's right okay so so so so so watch

no that's the names of the 10 guys that

doubted God's

promise and you've never heard a message

preached on them have you you don't see

their name highlighted anywhere do you

no because unbelief is not worth

remembering negativity is not something

you

celebrate you cancel it as fast as you

can you walk around it you get it behind

you because negativity and unbelief

disbelief in what God Said will only Rob

still kill and build a lid on your life

there's some names you've got to forget

you and I if we're going to if we're

going to embrace the promise there we've

got to reject some limiting voices

anybody got no don't raise your hand

don't don't we we we've all had some

limiting voices in our life sometimes

we've been our own limiting voice in our

life The Book of Numbers chapter 13: 27

and 28 uh these are the 10 spies these

10 guys that I just read from from 10 of

the tribes of Israel listen to this here

here's here's what it says about them

they gave Moses this account we went

into the land to which you sent us and

it does flow with milk and honey here is

its fruit just like God said but the

people who live there are powerful and

the cities are fortified and very large

we even saw descendants of anoch

there these these 10 spies they start

talking about it's just like God

said and then they put a big butt right

in the middle of something they

shouldn't have they they they broke down

they stated what God did threw their

butt in the

situation and then they went scary

negative in other words watch watch

watch first the land is just as God said

but we saw giants too big for us let let

me help you with this but can be a

conjugation but in this stad in the in

the original language in the Hebrew the

ancient in Hebrew it's not just a

conjugation it's a

statement I need you to understand this

the the root word of this word that they

use here for but it means to fail to end

and to bring to

nothing in other words there but it

cancels it it it it cancels the first

point and it emphasizes the second

Point God everything he said is true W

but cancelled fail not going to

work there's Giants in the

land man that would have been nice

wouldn't it God screwed

up man God almost had us there

dto this is this is where this is what

the spies were beginning to tell and

they're reporting this throughout the

camp the the the 10 spies had a butt so

full of

unbelief that they convinced the entire

nation to reject God's promises they

convinced the entire nation that God

wasn't able to finish what he

started that's that's the power of

influence of somebody's voice in our

life someone who says no I've seen

something you haven't seen God isn't

aable I saw how big it was you haven't

seen it God can't do it and if you and I

are not careful we'll depend on somebody

else's testimony about God's character

to allow it to decide what our future is

and you got to be able to pull that mess

down because all that is is their butt

talking turn turn your neighbor and tell

them you got to get your butt right tell

them you got to get your butt right you

got to get your butt right I mean you

you you need your butt right because

watch this your spouse is listening to

you you better get your butt right

because your kids are being in

influenced by what you say about God you

you better get your butt right because

there's co-workers that know that you

love Jesus but how you handle your butt

is going to determine whether they can

buy into to who Jesus is or not you and

I are to be that living testimony but if

your butt gets out of

order we're going to build a lid on not

just our life but somebody else's too

this is what the the two faith-filled

spies

did in numbers chap

13:30 here here here's what the Bible

says by the way Caleb and Joshua were

the two guys of Faith anybody ever heard

of Caleb and Joshua heck yes you have

because you celebrate people with faith

that's who they are here here's what

they said in Numbers Chapter 13 Caleb

Numbers 13 · chapter mention

calmed down the crowd He said chth Out

Hold on read this with me let's go and

take the land I

know can do it the people people were

freaking

out these 10 spies came back throwing

their butt

around and people going the people were

scared and and and and and just the

Bible says they were they were crying

they were screaming that they were I

mean they they were a train wreck and

Caleb steps and goes y'all stop time out

a minute hold on we were there too we

saw it too do you understand when they

came back when they came back from from

spying out the land they were in the

land for 40 days they didn't take a 30

minute tour 40 days of spying out the

land and when they came back the Bible

says that the fruit in the land was so

much that it took two guys with a pole

to bring back one bunch of grapes

they're like holding one grape with two

hands and they're whole facing a dag on

Grape the fruit was crazy that was

hanging inside the place it was

everywhere and Joshua was like y'all do

you understand the great jelly in that

place what is got like you we got to get

in

there begin to push back and what he

begin to do them was give hope back C

can I tell you something as Christ

followers if we're going to get into our

promise we need to begin to speak with

hope and speak with life and speak

Beyond just what I feel and what I see

you're going to be confronted what he

said or what you see and you got to

begin to speak God's word over your

situation know that God is good and he's

able to do what he promised if you're

going to butt into something do it right

get your butt in order in other words

after someone finishes talking about

their Giants remind them this but our

God is greater so you got to get your

butt right you got to get your butt in

order and it begins to change everything

uh but but you you got some bad I got

bad news Well I need you to add to it

but God will make it all work for my

good you you got to tag it you got to

you got to finish it with the right butt

a after fear and anxiety hit your heart

but Jesus is my peace and Jesus is my

joy and Jesus is my hope you've got to

speak back to these things and you got

to put it back in order you got to slap

that problem with a butt and finish it

by declaring God's

promises we got to get it right because

we can't just let that report linger it

deserves a response but if we get it out

of order We'll Kill our opportunity to

keep moving forward if you're going to

get into your promise number one you got

to get your butt right number

two you got to choose the grapes over

the

Giants you got to choose what you're

going to focus on the grapes or the

Giants are you going to focus on it's

just the way God said let's get it or

you're going to be oh my God we can't do

that it's just too much I'm just going

to hang here you're you're going to have

to decide what your response is because

it's based on your focus in fact you've

heard me say it but it's so true

whatever you focus on becomes the

biggest in your life you focus on the

problem oh it's only going to grow it

went from a speed bump to a mountain

because you kept focusing you kept

obsessing you kept thinking about it you

started adding layers to it all of a you

you got a headache oh my God I'm sure

this is something more than a headache

I'm sure it's more than a headache like

oh my Lord I I'm I'm and and and all of

a sudden you have down the road and like

they're they're doing a labotomy on you

next week as far you are de you're

Googling this thing now you've got all

the diagnosis over here you're calling

everybody you can think

of it's amazing what happens when you

let your mind run without a stop on it

whatever you focus on becomes the

biggest you can obsess over the problem

or you can start moving into your

promise but you can't do both and you

and I have got to decide is this

marriage a problem or is it going to be

a miracle you got to

decide is God finished is my way stuck

am I done am I over or is my life about

to be a miracle that people are going to

say I can't even believe that you're

here right now the truth is there's

people that can't even believe you're

here right now already anyway you don't

even deserve to be here but God has been

good to you God has been faithful we're

living experiences we're living miracles

in this and numbers 13:30 continuing

with this story look at this in fact

read this with me this is so important

listen to what these people said these

are the the 10 spies here's what they

said read it we were in our own sight as

Grasshoppers and so we were in their

sight oh men of

Faith the the 10 went in and they when

when when when Caleb spoke back so no no

no y'all don't understand wait wait wait

wait wait the land is good we can take

it let's go let's get B it B it we can

take take this thing right now he he was

jumping he was ready Caleb and Joshua

were side by side ready to take the

whole place on and all the 10 spies when

they heard Caleb and Joshua speak in

faith it made them

angry it's crazy how you can talk in

faith and people don't like

it it's crazy when you can like try to

give some hope to somebody and they're

mad because you ruined their pity party

they were having a great time and oh you

don't even care about me no I do care

about you not to leave you in this thing

I'm not here to pet you I'm here to pry

you out and get you down the road into

your future so how about some love and

some truth and some life let's go boo

let's

go they come they're giving this hope

and all of a sudden that these 10 begin

to speak up and now they're fighting

with Joshua and Caleb oh yeah oh yeah

well well here's one for you we we are a

small as Grasshoppers and guess what the

Giants thought we were too oh so you're

now interviewing Giants and you're

asking them what the opinion is about

you no you see this is this is what

happens we begin to think I'm too small

to win and the enemy of my life feels

the same way the the moment the moment

you buy into that grasshopper syndrome

all of a sudden you are living totally

defeated and the enemy has to do nothing

else in your life you bought his lie you

bought his growl he built the facade and

you bought it you didn't even try it

instead of believing God's promise I

bought the enemy's facade I didn't even

talk to him but I decided for him that

I'm not able God's not able the issue is

too big it's beyond my ability and all

of this all this evidence begins to

build a case against God they were they

so lost sight of God that they forgot

the Giants weren't their

problem the Giants are God's problem

would you tell some somebody your issues

are not your issues would you just tell

them that your issues are not your

issues they belong to

God they belong no you got to stay

engaged you're there you got a front row

seat to watch it happen but God is going

to get involved God will fight the

battle God is the one that defeats

enemies and gives us the victory that's

what his word says in fact I got a

question for the 10 spies I mean here

they're just ranting and raving over how

bad things are right now but I I I

wonder who was the one who promised you

a land flowing with milk and honey to

begin with I think it was God I think it

was God and and how did you get out of

Egypt I'm just curious about that oh it

must have been God and when you got to

the Red Sea and it was impossible and it

parted and you walked through on dry

ground who did that thing for you oh

that was God oh and who was it that

stood on the top of Mount Si and made a

covenant with you you heard his voice

talk to you and he made promises to you

oh that was God also who was it that

made a rock give you water in the de

desert so that you wouldn't drive oh

that was God who was it that rained Mana

out of the sky every day to feed and

sustain you oh that was gone too when

you got tired of mana and you cried and

complain who gave you Quail to eat that

was just dropping out of the sky it was

then the same God who did all of that is

the same God who can handle this

situation don't forget where he brought

you from don't forget his faithfulness

in your life it's amazing how we can

just so quickly forget and I've got news

for you if God did that then he can do

it here again I'm G to say it again if

God did it if God did that then he can

do it here again how you have a giant

you need God to take out of your life

right now you got an issue you got so

yeah okay okay he's still in the giant

killing

business you didn't get yourself here

God Did It God's the one that's has

sustained you the Giants are his the

grapes are yours the Giants are his the

grapes are yours get your eyes back on

the promise get your eyes back on what

he said get your eyes back on the

outcome and where you're head you got to

reset your focus and trust

him number

three if you're going to move into your

promise not only do you have to get your

butt in

order and not only do you have to start

focusing on the grapes instead of the

Giants you need to stay spicy my

friend you you you you got you got to

live on that

edge let me just finish with this you

you never give up on your

promise I dare you to get two handfuls

of it reach up and bite it as hard as

you

can and hold on for the ride I'm not

letting go God called it a Promised Land

land not a probable

land it's not it might it might not we

got a 5050 chance is according if the

Giants are strong God never consulted

the Giants to decide if that land could

be yours or not in fact before all of

this happened God promised in Exodus

Exodus 23 · chapter mention

chapter 23 he said I need you to know

something when I take you into the land

there's going to be an angel that will

preedee you and as the angel precedes

you I just need you to know when you run

into Giants in the land I'm going to

send Hornets ahead of you and I will let

the Hornets drive out the Giants from

before you it was never God's intention

for them to deal with one giant they

were looking at God said I've already

given you the plan but you forgot what I

told you I didn't send you there and try

to start figuring things out the fact

that you are where you are is proof that

I've been working in your past I got you

in your present and I can sustain you in

your future everything is going to be

all right you can rest you can laugh you

can smile the same God is working on

your side Joshua and Caleb man they were

the only two spies that were allowed to

enter the promised land the only two you

want to read you want to read some heavy

words Numbers Chapter

Numbers 14 · chapter mention

14 God

said all

y'all all y'all can kiss my grits

that's my interpretation all right that

ain't Hebrew that ain't Greek that's pul

County all y'all can kiss my

grits I did all that and you get here

standing at the door of everything I

brought you out for and now you're

questioning whether I'm God whether I'm

good whether I'm able if I forgot

anything you're you're going to question

me

now and he said I tell you

what all y'all above

20 next 40 years 40 years one year for

every day you walked in the promise but

you rejected it you'll walk until this

whole generation

dies it's going to take 40 years but all

y'all 20 and under you got round two

learn from what your parents screwed up

learn from their lack of faith learn

from their rejection learn from the

don't don't don't take on oh there's

look there's I've learned some amazing

things from my family I've learned

amazing things from my I'm grateful for

my parents I'm grateful for their faith

but ladies and gentlemen there is a

place you're going to have to as for me

in my house and you're going have to re

up and realize there's some things we

learn to do some things we learn not to

do and we take those steps forward into

the future God said all y'all are gone

but here's what's beautiful here's what

I love here's what I love did I mention

I love this I love

this when God said all y'all can kiss my

grits you're out of here 20 and under

you'll come in in 40

years when he made that statement God

said wait in fact let me read it for

you Numbers Chapter

Numbers 14:23

14 verse 23 and

24 this is God talking none of those who

treat me with contempt will see it the

promised land but oh God's got a big old

butt too y'all understand that but

because my servant Caleb has a different

attitude and has wholeheartedly followed

me I'll bring him to the land he already

explored his descendants will possess

it you see when you choose right even

when folks in your life make back

decisions and you feel like that it's

put a delay in your life God is still

good to his

promise you keep a right heart you stay

focused on him you keep trusting him and

God will make it all work for your good

in fact the Bible gives us the account

in the Book of Joshua that they came

back around 40 years later and now Moses

did not go in but Joshua is the

leader and now the Bible records a story

where Caleb goes up and talks to Joshua

Caleb at this time is 85 years old he

ain't no spring

chicken he's got some experience under

his belt but the Bible says and it

records their their conversation Caleb

walks

up give me my

mountain and Joshua did it's yours go

get it and Joshua climbed that mountain

and he took over what he saw 40 years

earlier no one was able to cancel his

promise from God and he got his hands on

it and he built the lineage in fact it

wasn't just for Caleb but all of his

descendants ladies and gentlemen your

you're fighting a a war and you're

fighting for something much bigger than

you your kids and your friends and your

family are watching they're going to

inherit the things the ground that

you're taking it's important it's

critical that you and I stay in the

fight and keep trusting God stand to

your feet if you would stand to your

feet if you

would you can get your promise you can

get in there you can experience it all

but you got to understand there's going

to be push back and I just got I need to

make this announcement to you when

Giants show up in your life it's proof

that you have arrived to a

promise Giants are not there to prevent

you from anything they're there to prove

to you and Mark that you made it now

it's time to go in and get

it you don't lock doors on places that

have no

value you only meet opposition when

someone's afraid you're going to get

into what's good and there's a real

enemy in your life that will push back

because if you ever get a tast to what

God is promising you what he's bringing

in your business what he's going to do

with your children how he's going to

turn this marriage around peace that's

about to rush to your heart going to

amaze the doctors they're not going to

understand how do we explain this the

X-rays showed this but now the that's

showing that how do you describe that

because God is going to get involved and

he's going to turn this oh God's got a

big old butt oh yeah and he's going to

throw his butt into your situation and

make it work for your good he's good to

his word you got to trust him

don't be afraid of your

enemies always be

courageous and this will prove to them

that they will lose and that you will

win because it is God who gives you the

victory father thank you for your hope

your life your joy your word that pushes

us out of where we are into everything

we're supposed to have I will not live

down to emotions I will not live down to

negativity I will not let your promise

be cancelled by somebody else's bad

situation no no no no I'm looking to you

I'm trusting you I didn't get where I am

because of my power and my ability and I

won't make it into the next season

because of my power and my ability the

Giants are your issue the grapes are

mine so I'll keep my eyes on what you

promise so I can have it all today God I

trust you we're coming after you and I'm

asking God that you would invade hearts

and Minds you would bring hope alive

that people would find a joy and a

strength even in the struggle even in

the struggle we'll find a way to smile

big and find our laugh again knowing I

don't have to understand how it's going

to happen in order to know that it will

happen because you're one that promises

and when you promise your word says

you're not a man that you should lie you

don't have to repent you don't have to

back up if you said it it will happen it

will take place place today we honor you

and celebrate you and thank you for the

promise that we're about to step into

our best days are ahead of us we will

not quit

now God encourage my friends in this

walk with you our best days are

unfolding ahead of us in Jesus name
