  18. you're in for a treat with this message.

  19. So, go ahead, sit back, relax, and I

  20. hope today's message encourages you just

  21. like it encourages me. What is your

  22. sign? I'm going to be wrapping this

  23. little series up this week. Uh, we're

  24. talking about where do you get your

  25. identity from? What What is it that you

  26. base your life on? Some people lean

  27. heavy into the horoscopes. They're

  28. checking those out every day. The Wall

  29. Street Journal tells them who they

  30. are. The Lake L ledger going to tell you

  31. how good your week's going to be. I

  32. mean, that's okay. So, you got that.

  33. There's people that run the Zodiac,

  34. right? And they're they're they're

  35. living in that world. There's there's

  36. other folks that choose other things,

  37. other other aspects of of life in order

  38. to give them identity, whether it's an

  39. education, whether it's a career, my

  40. money, uh who am I on Instagram. There's

  41. all kinds of things we reach for. But

  42. what we're talking about in this series

  43. is all those things fall short unless

  44. you get it right with Jesus. Jesus is

  45. the one should that should identify

  46. that. But I want to I want to address

  47. this from another angle that I've never

  48. heard taught in my entire life. And I'm

  49. an old guy. I I'm I've been around for a

  50. minute. I've never in my life heard a

  51. message on what I'm about to share with

  52. you today. I' nor have I ever preached

  53. one on this, but I want to bring it here

  54. today. How many of you have ever

  55. struggled with your confidence?

  56. If the person beside you is not raising

  57. their hand is they're not confident

  58. enough to raise their hand right now. So

  59. they're struggling with confidence right

  60. now. All of us, every single one of us,

  61. this insecurity, insecurity is

  62. crippling. It makes us doubt stuff. It

  63. makes us pause, not get involved, do

  64. some things that we would have enjoyed,

  65. but I'm afraid if I do that. What you

  66. afraid of? I don't know. I'm just

  67. afraid. Okay. Well, it does that. It

  68. makes us quit. We don't even try some

  69. things when I'm insecure. uh just real

  70. skeptical over stuff and it it limits

  71. life. When we live

  72. insecure and I just want you to

  73. understand insecurity is not just

  74. limiting things in your everyday life.

  75. Insecurity is crippling your

  76. relationship with Jesus. And so for that

  77. reason today I want to speak to and I

  78. want to strengthen your spiritual

  79. confidence. You need to see yourself

  80. square them shoulders. Hey, you're doing

  81. better than you think you are. And I

  82. want to show you why that's true. It's

  83. not just my opinion. It's not just me

  84. trying to make you feel good. No, no,

  85. no, no, no. Feeling good doesn't matter

  86. if it's not true. And I need to give you

  87. something that's true that you can say,

  88. "Oh, shucks. I got it going on like

  89. that." All right, we're going to talk

  90. about that. Let's go here. Let's go here

  91. right now. Here's what I need you to

  92. know. What's wrong with you is not

  93. what's wrong with you.

  94. Some of y'all will be discussing that at

  95. lunch. What did he mean by that? What's

  96. wrong with you is not what's wrong with

  97. you. How many you could think of at

  98. least three or four things that you

  99. think are wrong with you? Please raise

  100. your hand. If your neighbor's not

  101. raising their hand, give them a few of

  102. your ideas about what's wrong with them.

  103. Go ahead and help them out so they can

  104. raise their hand. Yes, me too. All of

  105. us. We got stuff. We try to hide it. We

  106. don't want we want to act like we

  107. there's nothing wrong with me. And

  108. people call something out and we go we

  109. go at them like they're fabricating. But

  110. the truth is, you could have points and

  111. subpoints to everything they just said

  112. because, oh no, it's all there. Whoop,

  113. there it is. It's a mess. But what's

  114. wrong with you is not what's wrong with

  115. you. What's wrong is what you and I

  116. believe about Jesus and his love for us.

  117. It's important that you that you

  118. understand that because you got to stop

  119. focusing on your mess and start focusing

  120. on Jesus's love and sacrifice.

  121. Why is that important? Because your life

  122. moves towards your dominant thought.

  123. Whatever you think about is who you

  124. become. Whatever you think about is

  125. where you're going. Whatever you look at

  126. affects your heart. Lamentations chapter

    Lamentations 3 chapter mention

  127. 3 says, "My eye affected my heart."

  128. Whatever you put your eyes on in

  129. culture, it begins to affect you a

  130. certain way. And and and and we have to

  131. be so very careful that that we're

  132. actually moving our life forward. Where

  133. the head goes, your body follows. And

  134. so, we've got to get our headspace

  135. right. You need to understand how loved

  136. you are. You need to understand

  137. everything Jesus did for you is on a

  138. level that we've never fully embraced as

  139. of yet. In fact, not even your most

  140. intensive point of struggle, your worst

  141. of worst day. None of that could even

  142. cancel or even

  143. limit God's plan for your life or his

  144. forgiveness that is extended towards

  145. you. All of it is in still a full

  146. effect. It's still in full effect. But

  147. since your life is following your

  148. dominant thought and you and I can think

  149. some crazy thoughts,

  150. any ever had a crazy thought in the past

  151. 24 hours, right? Like past 10 minutes

  152. like you got like I'm trying to worship.

  153. Why am I thinking about that? Like I

  154. it's it's cra like this mind is

  155. nuts. Since that's how we're wired and

  156. what we deal with, we got to deal with

  157. that and the Bible does. Jeremiah

  158. chapter 17:7. If you're looking for a

  159. new tat, this is it right here. I'm

  160. telling you right now, I highly

  161. recommend this one. Jeremiah 17:7. Y'all

    Jeremiah 17:7

  162. read it loud. Read it proud. Here we go.

  163. Blessed is the one who trusts in the

  164. Lord, whose confidence is in

  165. him. Whose confidence is in him. Not

  166. confidence in Scott, not in what I

  167. built, not my education, not not

  168. anything that looks good on the outside.

  169. All of that can go away. My confidence

  170. has to be built on something more than

  171. what people can take away. My confidence

  172. has to be built on one who is greater

  173. than all and that is Christ. When I

  174. trust what God said about the power of

  175. his love and salvation towards me, when

  176. I truly have built my trust and my

  177. confidence that everything he said about

  178. me is true, my life

  179. stabilizes. People don't have the

  180. ability to rock my world. I don't live

  181. with drama. You can say what you want.

  182. I've already had an opinion greater than

  183. yours.

  184. I like you and I want us to do some

  185. life, but I'm good. I'm good. I'm good

  186. in this neighborhood. Hey, I got that's

  187. I'm good. I I I I'm I'm bolder. I'm

  188. stronger. I can stand flatfooted and I

  189. can speak some things not based on my

  190. ability, but based on his. I live

  191. different when I believe that he loves

  192. me and believe that he fully died for

  193. me. That's a gamecher, folks. I trust

  194. him. I don't walk around with fear that

  195. God's going to strike me with a

  196. lightning bolt. Living in Lakeland,

  197. Florida, the the lightning capital of

  198. the world. I'm not worried about that

  199. because God's not mad at me. He's mad

  200. about me. And I know that because I

  201. trust what his word said. Confidence in

  202. Jesus and his salvation. When we

  203. actually get that, it begins to produce

  204. joy on the inside. It produces a a

  205. strength that produces a hope on the

  206. inside. In other words, it's possible to

  207. be serving God and not have joy in your

  208. salvation. And I feel like I'm just

  209. white knuckling it and being drugged

  210. through life trying to hold on to Jesus.

  211. Not really sure how people do this and

  212. does it even matter. Can I even do this

  213. thing? David reached that point in his

  214. life. And in Psalm 51, he said, "Lord,

  215. restore unto me the joy of my salvation.

  216. I need the joy back." Why? Because the

  217. joy of the Lord is your your strength.

  218. You don't have joy. You don't have

  219. strength. I need to get that back. So,

  220. I'm living in this confidence. So,

  221. here's what you you have to understand.

  222. Spiritual confidence in all of our lives

  223. takes a hit when we sin. I know very few

  224. of you have ever sinned in your life.

  225. Me, I have done. I've done plenty of it

  226. for all of us. All right? Uh but but but

  227. the truth is, uh all of us have been

  228. there. We take hits when we sin. and and

  229. and we begin to think things like this

  230. after we I I claimed Christ, but I did

  231. something stupid this weekend that we

  232. start to think, does God does God still

  233. love

  234. me? We we we think things like this. Am

  235. I really

  236. saved? Am I really

  237. forgiven? Like like I I I just wonder

  238. like I keep messing up. I keep messing

  239. up. Am I am I still a Christian? Did he

  240. did he bail on me?

  241. And I can answer definitively all of

  242. those. Yes. Yes. And heck to the yes.

  243. All three of those. The answer is yes.

  244. But you and I have got to get our heads

  245. wrapped around this because the Bible

  246. tells us this in 1 John 1:8. It says we

    1 John 1:8

  247. all sin.

  248. Yes, we do. Even he does. Even he does.

  249. All right. So you got to like a like

  250. watch this. Turn look just look at the

  251. person beside you. Look just look at

  252. them. Yep. They sin.

  253. Look at the person on the other side.

  254. Look, look at the other one. Go. Mhm.

  255. Yeah. Oh, I know. I know about you. I

  256. know about

  257. you. Okay. Look at both of them and tell

  258. them, "Me, too." Just tell them, "Me,

  259. too." Because Yeah. That's all of

  260. us. We're all jacked up. We all have

  261. these things. We think, thoughts,

  262. motives are wrong. We go off on f like

  263. we do stuff. It's over It's over a

  264. chicken sandwich and you're yelling at

  265. somebody at Chick-fil-A because they got

  266. in front of me. Oh my god.

  267. It's amazing what little it takes for us

  268. to go there. And when John wrote this

  269. that we all watch this, we all sin.

  270. That's your Bible. He was writing it to

  271. Christians. He wasn't writing to this

  272. culture. Oh, you in the culture are

  273. sinful. He's No, he's talking to the

  274. preacher. He's talking to the deacons or

  275. the demons. He's talking to the people

  276. like all y'all y'all sin. All y'all

  277. sinning and you're good at it.

  278. Sinning. It's what we do. It's in our

  279. nature. We're so selfish. We're so

  280. prideful. Me, me, my. That's who we are.

  281. That's what we do. So, because of that,

  282. and since when we sin, our confidence

  283. takes a spiritual hit. And we begin to

  284. think less, but I can't get rid of sin

  285. because it's I'm going to be sinning all

  286. the way until Jesus comes. I'm never

  287. going to stop sinning. You're never

  288. going to stop. I'm never sinning again.

  289. Well, you just lied. I mean, yeah. Yeah.

  290. So yeah. Yeah. Like it's like it's never

  291. going to stop. So that means I need to

  292. learn how to deal with my sin. I need to

  293. learn how to deal with it because here's

  294. what's happening. Sin is violating your

  295. own conscience.

  296. This is where I want to go. I've never

  297. heard anything preached about the

  298. conscience, the human conscience. But

  299. the Bible is

  300. prolific. Over 30 times it 30 times in

  301. the New Testament alone. The conscience

  302. is mentioned all through the Old

  303. Testament. The idea, the concept of the

  304. conscience and how God deals with it is

  305. all through our Bible. And you and I

  306. need to deal with this. We need to

  307. understand what it is. Y'all know what

  308. that that conscience is? That internal

  309. voice. Y'all got one. Some say, "Mine

  310. sounds like my mama." Well, I don't know

  311. what yours are like a program for. Uh,

  312. you know, you can choose different

  313. voices, but but it's it's that internal

  314. voice, watch this, that distinguishes

  315. for us between right and wrong.

  316. between right and wrong. It and it it

  317. comes out it does a couple different

  318. things. It operates as a guide. It

  319. operates as a chaperone. And it operates

  320. as a

  321. judge. A as a guide it's saying we walk

  322. this way. We do this. It gives me

  323. direction. And then as a chaperone while

  324. I'm doing stuff, have you ever been

  325. doing something wrong and you had this

  326. voice? Your voice. Don't do it. Don't do

  327. it. Don't send that text. Do not send

  328. that text. It's typed. I know you

  329. spellch checked it and you added emojis

  330. to it. Do not send that

  331. text. It's that

  332. chaperon right there with you. And then

  333. it's also our

  334. judge because we do some things that we

  335. know we shouldn't have done. And it

  336. never shuts

  337. up. It goes to bed with you. It wakes up

  338. with you. You got up to use the bath in

  339. the middle of the night. It's still

  340. talking to you like, "Would you please

  341. go to bed?"

  342. It never quits. You're laughing on the

  343. outside and fighting with this voice on

  344. the inside. I'm fighting with this voice

  345. because it's talking to me about my

  346. past. I'm fighting with this voice cuz

  347. it's talking to me about how I'm not

  348. good enough and I'm such a failure and

  349. it never works. And all I see is what's

  350. wrong with life. I can't find what's

  351. right and I'm struggling with all this

  352. on the inside. And what's happening is

  353. your conscience is working to align the

  354. inner values with your outer actions.

  355. that what is right in here that's in the

  356. moral code of who I am that God put

  357. there. Oh, I wish I had time to talk

  358. about moral agency and where it comes

  359. from. That is the greatest proof of God

  360. because that doesn't happen because of a

  361. big bang. All of a sudden, we have a

  362. moral understanding as to what right and

  363. wrong is. That means there must be a

  364. being higher, greater, and outside of us

  365. that imprinted it in us. But we don't

  366. have time to go there today. But this is

  367. the this is who we are. He put it on the

  368. inside of us. And the book of Romans

  369. says that everybody has it, believer or

  370. non-believer. And God works through that

  371. moral agency to lead us and direct us,

  372. convict us. In fact, that's where the

  373. voice of Holy Spirit operates in your

  374. life and my life is working inside of

  375. our conscience to convict and lead our

  376. lead our lives. And when your conscience

  377. is clear, when when you feel like it's

  378. aligned, you feel strong, you're secure,

  379. you're confident, you feel whole. But

  380. the moment that you your your your

  381. conscience is is conflicted, when when

  382. you feel like it's been violated, that's

  383. when insecurity comes in. In other

  384. words, I say I believe one thing, but

  385. I'm living

  386. another. I say that people should do

  387. this, but I did this. Lying is wrong,

  388. but I'm really good at

  389. it. Like, I've got this I've got this

  390. conflict. I've got inner drama. I don't

  391. need any drama out there. I got enough

  392. drama going on inside of me right now

  393. because I've got all of this back and

  394. forth and I can't even rest with me.

  395. It'd be one thing if I could say good

  396. night and send somebody to another

  397. house, but I I'm I'm stuck with me. I'm

  398. dealing with me. These thoughts are

  399. owning me. And when this conscience hit,

  400. now I feel now I feel insecure and now

  401. I've got guilt running. Now it goes into

  402. shame in my life. All these things are

  403. owning me. In fact, 1st Samuel chapter

  404. 24, David put it this way. David did

  405. something wrong and he said, "I'm

  406. conscience stricken. My conscience has

  407. been so hit that it's owning me." And

  408. David can't get rest. Has anybody ever

  409. been bothered so bad that you had a hard

  410. time sleeping? Like it just I can't just

  411. I can't find any peace. Like you

  412. actually it was so real you had to go

  413. apologize to somebody. How many know

  414. that's got to be real right there?

  415. That's got to be real right like to get

  416. me to go say I'm sorry. That's that's

  417. this is what happens in the conscience.

  418. But here's what I need us to understand.

  419. The sense of our own sinfulness is a

  420. gift. The fact that you feel that

  421. something was wrong is a gift to

  422. you. Feeling guilt in your conscience is

  423. not the

  424. problem. Feeling guilt in your

  425. conscience is proof that there is a

  426. problem.

  427. When you feel pain in your body, pain is

  428. not your

  429. enemy. Pain is proof that something is

  430. wrong in your body. It's an alarm that

  431. goes off to tell you to go get something

  432. checked. There's a condition where some

  433. people feel no

  434. pain and they don't know if they've been

  435. cut, broken a bone. They don't know if

  436. they're dying because they feel nothing.

  437. And a lot of us say, "I would love to

  438. live with no pain." No, you would not.

  439. Pain is a gift in those situations and a

  440. conscience that is aware of sin where I

  441. have violated God is a gift in my life

  442. and Holy Spirit does that and pulls on

  443. it and I feel that that's called

  444. conviction. Conviction is when God is

  445. trying to pull me back into a solid

  446. relationship with him. Guilt is when

  447. it's owning me and it makes me want to

  448. push back on God and run because guilt

  449. turns into shame. undelt with guilt

  450. becomes shame. And that's where guilt is

  451. what I did. Shame is who I am.

  452. I now am so identifying with my guilt

  453. that I call it me. And now it's my

  454. identity. It's who I am. It's how I

  455. live. It's what I deserve. And it begins

  456. to own our world. It becomes a cancer to

  457. your soul. And we have to deal with this

  458. because God's word deals with this. And

  459. and we try a lot of things in order to

  460. just clear our own consciences instead

  461. of coming to Jesus. We we we try a lot

  462. of things. Well, well, I'm going to do

  463. charity work. Yes, I am. I'm going to be

  464. a good person. So, we trade righteous

  465. living for good living. We try to be

  466. good, moral people, whatever that is. We

  467. try to be good people. And then and then

  468. we try to change morality. Our culture

  469. today is fighting against the conscience

  470. of God inside of us so much that culture

  471. is trying to shift a morality so that

  472. things that would bother us 10 years ago

  473. doesn't bother us anymore.

  474. Because your conscience can be

  475. reprogrammed. It can be shifted. And you

  476. and I have got to be so very careful

  477. that I don't just let every ideology

  478. into me and people begin to shift what's

  479. right and what's wrong. I've got to go

  480. back and I got to find what God's code

  481. is for my life and let this become the

  482. standard that I live my life by.

  483. And then when the conscience, even

  484. though we're trying to find a way to

  485. clear our own conscience with our own

  486. our own works, our own righteousness,

  487. well, then it just it gets really crazy

  488. because the conscience when it refuses

  489. to be satisfied because we can try

  490. everything, but the conscious is never

  491. satisfied even with all that. Then we

  492. just try to drown its voice out with all

  493. kinds of stuff. A party, a pill, a

  494. person, another vacation. I'm going to

  495. dive into social media. I'm just going

  496. to I'm just going to be true to me. I'm

  497. just going to do me, dog.

  498. We quit church because there's too much

  499. conviction in church. I go to church, it

  500. makes me feel worse. No, it doesn't make

  501. you feel worse. It's God's voice pulling

  502. you back in. That's not guilt. That's

  503. conviction. That's good. That's healthy.

  504. We all need that. Again, the twinge of

  505. pain inside your conscience when God is

  506. pulling on you is a blessing. It's not a

  507. cursing. We got to start identifying it

  508. as such. There's people that call it

  509. church hurt and run. It wasn't church

  510. hurt. It was conviction, baby. God was

  511. dealing with your heart and saying, "I

  512. love you enough to tell you the truth

  513. about a

  514. situation." So, we try a little bit of

  515. everything. Let me just more sin. I'm

  516. I'm just people go violent. Okay. Quit

  517. church or or or we become watch this or

  518. become religious where instead of

  519. repenting and getting our life right, we

  520. just shift our direction and our

  521. attention to other people. Well, at

  522. least I'm not like them. At least I live

  523. better than they do. So now I have set

  524. my moral code as long as I can stay

  525. above them and above them. Well, guess

  526. what? You always will because you'll

  527. always find something to downgrade them

  528. over to make sure you're higher and

  529. better than they are. This is how your

  530. conscience, this is how twisted we are.

  531. It's how good we are at self-qualifying

  532. and fighting to stop from responding to

  533. God the way we need to. We got to drop

  534. the excuses and deal with a guilty

  535. conscience. There's one of three ways

  536. that it happens. Number one, we either

  537. quit. Judas did that. Y'all remember

  538. Judas in the Bible? Judas who betrayed

  539. Jesus. Judas after he betrayed Jesus

  540. realize what he did. The Bible says he

  541. went out and hung himself. His

  542. conscience hit him so bad he was so

  543. grieved he went and hung himself. In

  544. other words, his his conscience was

  545. grieved and therefore he quit. He just

  546. quit everything. And then there was a

  547. guy named Peter. Uh Peter, he also

  548. denied Jesus three times. He he blew it.

  549. He messed everything up. But whenever

  550. his conscience was hit, he went into

  551. repentance and came back and got it

  552. healed. Same awareness in their

  553. conscience that they were wrong. One

  554. quit in life. The other repented and

  555. came back. But there's this other couple

  556. called Adam and Eve. And in the very

  557. beginning, they showed us the battle of

  558. what the conscience is. And they did

  559. what most of us are doing in our life

  560. today. When Adam and Eve were told,

  561. don't do this and do this. And they

  562. violated that. They all of a sudden ran

  563. and they were hiding from God. And God,

  564. the Bible says, came walking through the

  565. garden looking for them. How many you

  566. know when God calls your name, where are

  567. you? How many you know God, you're not

  568. lost. God knows exactly where you are.

  569. He just wants to know, do you know where

  570. you are? That's good. Adam and Eve were

  571. hiding from God. They were MIA. And I'm

  572. here to tell you, I believe most

  573. believers today are hiding from God.

  574. I'm running from God because I don't

  575. know how he's going to handle me in this

  576. situation. Can he really handle my

  577. issues? And I've got good news for you

  578. today. Although this sin attacks our

  579. confidence in Christ and we make it

  580. questions our relationship with God,

  581. there's answers that God's word gives

  582. us. And this all that was foundational

  583. to get us to this right here. Hebrews

  584. chapter 9:9. Check this out. This is an

  585. illustration pointing to the present

  586. time. For the gifts and sacrifices that

  587. the priests offer are not able to

  588. cleanse the consciences of the people

  589. who bring them. Watch this. The verse

  590. starts off. This is an illustration.

  591. What's an illustration? The previous

  592. eight verses of this chapter, verses 1-8

  593. tell us this. It's a reference back to

  594. the writer in the book of Hebrews is

  595. referencing back to the Old Testament.

  596. In the Old Testament, once a year, a

  597. lamb was killed. A ram was killed on the

  598. day of Yam Kapour, the day of atonement,

  599. one day a year. And the blood of that

  600. ram was taken into the Holy of Holies in

  601. the tabernacle. Blood was scattered,

  602. splattered on the mercy seat and the

  603. sins of the entire nation for one more

  604. year were covered. They were removed.

  605. Watch this. One time a

  606. year. One time a year. And that meant

  607. the next year they had to do it all over

  608. again. And the next year do it all over

  609. again. Because the blood of that ram had

  610. no way to remove sin. It could only

  611. cover sin.

  612. So once a year, do it again. How many

  613. you know if you have to do something

  614. every year, you are reminded of that

  615. situation for the rest of your entire

  616. life. I'm reminded of my sin all the

  617. time. I'm always reminded where I blew

  618. it. I'm always reminded how bad I am.

  619. I'm always over and over and over.

  620. That's what the writer is talking about.

  621. He that that it wasn't able this blood

  622. was not able to cleanse your conscience.

  623. It was able to cover your sin and it

  624. made you, it gave you standing with God,

  625. but you were still battling with

  626. thoughts and your emotions inside were

  627. raging because you knew how twisted and

  628. damaged and crazy you were on the

  629. inside. And you were left to wrestle

  630. with that in the Old Testament. But look

  631. what it says. Drop down five more verses

  632. down to Hebrews chapter 9:14. And look

  633. what the what the writer goes on to

  634. write. Here's what he says. Read it with

  635. me. Just think how much more the blood

  636. of Christ will purify our consciences

  637. from sinful deeds so that we can worship

  638. the living God. For by the power of the

  639. eternal spirit, Christ offered himself

  640. to God as a perfect sacrifice for our

  641. sins. In other words, what he's saying

  642. is everything in the Old Testament, it

  643. only covered, but it never dealt with

  644. the conscience. You were left to wrestle

  645. and battle with that. And this and the

  646. blood that was shed only covered it did

  647. not remove. But when Jesus came,

  648. it was all just a picture that was a

  649. type and shadow for what Jesus would be.

  650. So when he came as our sacrifice and his

  651. blood was shed on the cross and he died

  652. for us, he didn't just cover sins. His

  653. blood removed sins. There's no evidence.

  654. There's no receipt. It's gone. It's

  655. over. There's no proof that you ever

  656. sinned one day in your life. It is gone,

  657. folks. That's your Bible. But it goes on

  658. to say this. Not only did he forgive and

  659. take away your sins because he's the

  660. perfect sacrifice, he dealt with

  661. clearing, cleansing your conscience.

  662. I've never heard this preached before.

  663. Nobody told me that he was so concerned

  664. with how I think about me that the

  665. sacrifice on the cross not only took my

  666. sin away, but it gave me a reason to

  667. live at peace in my heart because all of

  668. that is over. Turn to someone, tell them

  669. it's over. It's

  670. over. You see that word, watch this,

  671. what Jesus did is called atonement. It's

  672. not like a really big spiritual word.

  673. It's a theological word that connects

  674. with your life. Don't be afraid of it

  675. because atonement means at

  676. onement with God again. I'm at one with

  677. him. I'm not separated from God. God and

  678. I are together. We're in relationship.

  679. Like we we're doing some life. He's my

  680. boo. Like like we got it going on like

  681. this. We're we're living this out. I

  682. love him. He loves me. Oh, it don't mean

  683. that I don't have any issues. I still

  684. got some challenges. I could think some

  685. crazy thoughts and do some nuts. You got

  686. to be kidding me stuff. But he never

  687. throws me away. He doesn't say that's

  688. it. and kicks me out. When Jesus died

  689. for your sin and my sin and you said,

  690. "Jesus, come into my heart." He didn't

  691. just forgive your sin today. He forgave

  692. your sin in the past. He forgave your

  693. sin today. And he forgave your sin

  694. tomorrow. It is done once and for all.

  695. Here's the issue. You're going to have

  696. to deal with

  697. that. No, you're going to have to accept

  698. it. Cuz if you don't accept it, you're

  699. going to trip for the rest of your life

  700. trying to be good enough to deserve it.

  701. trying to make sure that I I I did my

  702. part. I You can add nothing to it. You

  703. can't take anything away from it. You

  704. are forgiven. Deal with it.

  705. What do you do when the debt is gone?

  706. You're still trying to pay a bill at the

  707. restaurant and they're telling you there

  708. is no

  709. bill. You're arguing with people trying

  710. to give something away and pay

  711. something. When it's not owed, it's

  712. over. You got to drop it. the guilt, the

  713. condemnation, the shame that is running

  714. in your head. You're so consumed with

  715. the past, you can't even enjoy the

  716. sacrifice and the price that Jesus paid

  717. for you. And he said, "I didn't just pay

  718. to get sin off your life. I paid to get

  719. you off of your life.

  720. You're going to kill yourself. If you

  721. don't allow me to clear that," you see,

  722. redemption gets sin out of your way, and

  723. a clear conscience gets you out of your

  724. way. What did the verse say? All this

  725. has to be done so you can worship God.

  726. It tells me that until I accept fully

  727. what Jesus did for me. I'm not going to

  728. love and serve him

  729. properly. I'm serving him because he

  730. might strike me. I'm serving him because

  731. well, it just happened to be this. And

  732. I'm so consumed with me, I can't even

  733. focus on him. Wow. He says, "You can't

  734. even love me properly. I can't even tell

  735. you. I can't share my promises with you.

  736. We We're not even in full relationship

  737. like we could be until you deal with

  738. that conscience. I got more for you. How

  739. many you want everything God has for

  740. you? Y'all want everything. You want God

  741. to download in your house. Me, if you

  742. didn't raise your hand, I'm taking your

  743. part, too. I want yours and mine. I'm

  744. going to take everything he's got. And

  745. this is how we

  746. live. My mom right now is on my

  747. nerves. My mama. Mhm. Oh, I love her,

  748. but she's on my nerves. No, she is.

  749. She's straight up on my nerves. Oh, I

  750. love the lady from to heaven and back. I

  751. I love her. But my mama, so she's got

  752. this iPhone that I'm pretty sure is

  753. probably version one or two. I'm I'm I'm

  754. pretty sure it's like that. Like it's

  755. it's like way back there. So it's so old

  756. that I cannot when I'm with Malachi and

  757. Tia. I'm with my grandkids and I want

  758. her to see her great grandkids. I can't

  759. even FaceTime her because her processor

  760. in her phone does not accept FaceTime.

  761. Like what in the are you? So, I got to

  762. call my dad, FaceTime with my dad, wake

  763. him up so that my Cuz see, my dad, even

  764. though he's in his 80s, he's a man

  765. that's got to have the top technology

  766. and everything going on. He's that kind

  767. of guy. But my mama, she could care

  768. less. As long as she can play Soduku on

  769. her phone, she is a happy camper. Like,

  770. mom, that's a phone also. It's not just

  771. a game. You understand? And she is

  772. happy. She's happy. But, but watch this.

  773. The processor so slow, she can't receive

  774. FaceTime. I need you to understand.

  775. Jesus died not just so you can have

  776. communication to heaven. He also wants

  777. to FaceTime you. And you're going to

  778. have to upgrade your processing of

  779. faith. Get a new version. The Old

  780. Testament faith is over. It's a New

  781. Testament experience with everything

  782. Jesus did so you can facetime with him

  783. and talk to him and experience him for

  784. yourself. Hebrews 10 22 solidifies this.

  785. Watch this. Here's what it says. Let us

  786. come near to God with a sincere heart

  787. and a sure faith with hearts that have

  788. been purified from a guilty conscience

  789. and with bodies washed with clean water.

  790. Three things, three things get you near

  791. to God in this. Number one, a sincere

  792. heart. God says, "If you're going to

  793. come to me, don't play. You be real with

  794. me. Don't don't come in." Well, yeah.

  795. No, no, no, no, no. You either come in

  796. and surrender or you're not ready for

  797. me.

  798. I I'm I'm not here just to hang out. I'm

  799. here to take over. So, if we're going to

  800. do this, let's do this. Be sincere.

  801. Number one. Number two, I need you to

  802. have a sure faith. In other words, I

  803. need you to trust what I said about you.

  804. I need you to believe my word on your

  805. life. Don't play with it. Learn it. Know

  806. it. Unless you read it, you don't have a

  807. clue what I said about you and what you

  808. can have. You have no promise that you

  809. can claim, lay hold of, push back on,

  810. pray about. If you don't know what I

  811. said, you need a sure faith. And number

  812. three, you need to be purified from a

  813. guilty conscience. I need you to get off

  814. your back. You are in my way for

  815. blessing your life. This is God's word

  816. right here. And he says, you do it by

  817. the washing of the water. What does that

  818. mean? The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5,

  819. the washing of the water is the word.

  820. It's the word of God. In other words,

  821. the more of this word I see, learn,

  822. understand, the more of his mind I take

  823. on and the less of my mind I deal with.

  824. Romans 12, the renewing of your mind is

  825. the reprogramming of your

  826. conscience. You've got wrong things

  827. programmed and you're expecting some

  828. things and it's not satisfying. You're

  829. living with this drama and this turmoil,

  830. this conflict inside. And God says,

  831. "Until you do it my way, it's you're

  832. always going to be tripping. Get over

  833. it. Let it go. do it my

  834. way. That changes

  835. everything. I don't think you really

  836. understand how how loved you are and how

  837. strong you are and why I say you're

  838. doing better than you think you are. I

  839. saw this illustration the other day on

  840. social media, so I'm ripping it

  841. off. God gave you eyes, plagiarized. So,

  842. I'm just saying no. No, no, it No, don't

  843. do No, I'm playing. No, don't. We're at

  844. the end of school. I'm glad it's almost

  845. over. Like, no. Don't do that.

  846. you.

  847. That's you right

  848. there. Look at you sitting here all

  849. see-through and everything. Good for

  850. you. And then there is no I get it in a

  851. minute.

  852. Got Holy Spirit.

  853. The Bible tells me that when you said

  854. yes to Jesus, you became a new creature.

  855. Old things are passed

  856. away. All things become new. The Bible

  857. says in Ezekiel that then God put his

  858. spirit inside of

  859. us and his

  860. spirit has sealed us until the day of

  861. redemption.

  862. Oh, and but if you thought that was

  863. good.

  864. Yeah, we got Jesus in the

  865. mix because your

  866. life is now hidden in Jesus. according

  867. to the book of

  868. Colossians. And and guess where Jesus is

  869. according to Colossians 3?

  870. Y'all doing better than you think you

  871. are. If you love Jesus, if you've

  872. invited him into your life, that's you

  873. right there. Don't you tell me you're

  874. exposed and by yourself and struggling.

  875. I can't do this. He's in you. He's

  876. outside of you. He's surrounding you.

  877. You are wrapped up, tied up, tangled all

  878. up in him. You're good. You're going to

  879. be

  880. fine. You just need to some Yeah. Some

  881. of y'all need to get your camera out and

  882. take a picture of you right now. You You

  883. need to see where you are in that.

  884. That's why greater is he that is in me

  885. than the stuff that's around

  886. me. I'm layers deep in

  887. heaven. Promises are mine.

  888. But if you and I don't deal with this

  889. conscience, we can be here and pushing

  890. back on everything heaven has for you

  891. and me. Life is supposed to be good. Not

  892. easy, but good. And let me show you the

  893. impact of this. In

  894. closing, the power, watch, of having

  895. your

  896. conscience atoned at one with

  897. God. Again, I I was never taught that

  898. when Jesus went to the cross, it did two

  899. things. I was always taught he forgave

  900. me for my sins. Yay. He That's true. He

  901. redeemed me. He bought me back. But

  902. Hebrews says, "And also cleaned my

  903. conscience." Both are

  904. important. Not just salvation, but a

  905. cleared conscience that I can live this

  906. life that he has for me. That's why

  907. first John 3:es 20- 22. This is going to

  908. this going to sucker punch you. Going to

  909. be a throat punt. This is good right

  910. here. Check this.

  911. Whenever our conscience condemns us, we

  912. will be reassured that God is greater

  913. than our conscience and knows

  914. everything. Dear friends, if our

  915. conscience doesn't condemn us, we can

  916. boldly look to God and receive from him.

  917. Anything we ask, we receive it because

  918. we obey his commands and do what pleases

  919. him. Here's what the passage is saying.

  920. If you love Jesus on your way to heaven

  921. and you got a conscience that is chewing

  922. you up and spitting you out, you're

  923. guilty, you're wrong, you're trash, you

  924. can't live this life, all that going on

  925. and you're battling that

  926. inside. God says your conscience is

  927. condemning

  928. you, but I'm greater than your

  929. conscience. And I'm faithful when you're

  930. not. You can chew you up, but I will not

  931. chew you up. And you can throw elbows

  932. and you can call out your guilt, but

  933. I've forgotten it. Your sin is gone as

  934. far as the east is from the west. I have

  935. no record of it. So you can keep living

  936. that life if you want to. I'm greater.

  937. And when you finally get your feet under

  938. you and learn to trust me, I'll take you

  939. places you've never been before. So I'm

  940. greater than your situation and your

  941. conscience. But he says, "But if your

  942. conscience doesn't condemn you, if you

  943. ever get your mind renewed and you align

  944. and you get your conscience cleared, and

  945. I really believe that I'm forgiven all

  946. the way, and I really believed I'm loved

  947. like crazy, and I really believe that

  948. he's not out to get me, but he's here

  949. for me. That he's not taking my name

  950. away and throwing me around and

  951. aggravated and embarrassed and

  952. frustrated with me. He's he's not he's

  953. crazy about me. He sees me as the

  954. righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

  955. I'm free. I'm cleared. If I take that

  956. mindset on his word, we just read, then

  957. ask what you want and you'll get

  958. it. So, let me ask you

  959. something. How

  960. much How much is a guilty conscience

  961. costing

  962. you? Where should I be? Because I'm not

  963. because I'm not embracing. How do I get

  964. that,

  965. pastor? Your conscience is

  966. programmed. Some of us, our families

  967. programmed our conscience, and it was

  968. jacked

  969. up. They taught us some things were

  970. right, some things were wrong. Culture

  971. today is telling you what's right and

  972. what's wrong. Is trying to program your

  973. conscience. And it's all violating the

  974. reality of who Christ is in here. And

  975. until I get a mindful of this and let

  976. this begin to rescript and I align

  977. myself with this word, it's when I align

  978. with his word that things begin to

  979. change. That's why I have the right

  980. voices and friends around me. That's why

  981. I love to serve in church. That's why

  982. life groups are here. All of it is about

  983. renewing the mind, getting your

  984. conscience right, so you can live in the

  985. freedom and the power and the promises

  986. that Jesus died to give us. You're too

  987. valuable to live jacked up for the rest

  988. of your life. Going to heaven but living

  989. like hell. That's not God's plan. He

  990. wants to bless you and get you off your

  991. back so his best can hit your life.

  992. Would you please stand to your

  993. feet? Ladies and

  994. gentlemen, there'll always be an enemy

  995. whispering in your ear because a guilty

  996. conscience will hold you

  997. hostage if you keep playing the game.

  998. You're going to have to learn what God's

  999. word says and push back on it. I will

1000. not let you identify me. I will not let

1001. you script my life. This is what God's

1002. word says. Oh, I did all that that

  1003. you're talking about, but it's gone.

1004. It's been forgiven. I'm free in him.

1005. See, here's the bottom line. Please

1006. don't miss this. at this point seals

1007. it. Since all my sin is against

1008. God, David said, "Against you and you

1009. only have I sinned, oh God." Since all

1010. my sin is against God, then that means

1011. God is the only one who can redeem my

1012. life and who can clear my conscience.

1013. He's the only one. Culture can't do it.

1014. Your family can't do it. Psychology

  1015. can't do it. The DSM6 can't do it. I

1016. don't care how much you watch self-help.

1017. It's all good. It will never do what?

1018. Because only God can do that. Since the

1019. infraction was against him, he's the one

1020. who holds the leverage to release the

1021. answer. And he does. And God loves you

1022. so much that he refused for you to be

1023. right with him, but at conflict with

1024. yourself. So, I'll forgive you, but now

1025. I want to cleanse your mind so you can

1026. get off your back and stop being your

1027. enemy and accept the love and the peace

  1028. that I have for

1029. you. Jesus, thank you for doing all that

  1030. for

1031. us. Stepping into the inner parts of who

1032. we are, our makeup, our being, how we

1033. think, how we process life, our

1034. relationships, all of that. It all the

1035. intersection of our life is our

1036. conscience. And we need to know that

1037. you're there guiding and directing and

  1038. leading all of it.

1039. And when we feel bad about things that

1040. we shouldn't have done, let us take it

1041. as conviction that prompts us to heal

1042. the relationship, repent to you, but

1043. keep moving, not to stop, quit, derail,

1044. and fall away. No, we will not live in

1045. shame. Shame died on the cross. Today,

1046. we live with a with a hope and a

1047. strength in you. Because not only have

1048. we been saved, and our sin has been

1049. wiped away forever. no remembrance of

1050. it. Our consciences have been cleansed

1051. so that we can worship you and know you

1052. fully. Today, it's time for us to pray

1053. bold prayers, to stand on strong ground

1054. and declare your word, but we can only

1055. do it when our conscience is not

1056. condemning us. There's a lot of life

1057. ahead of us. So, we thank you for your

1058. truth. We thank you for your word and

1059. your promises today. God, we look to you

1060. for all of this, healing our hearts,

1061. moving us forward, showing us what

1062. matters. And as we lean in you, I thank

1063. you that your promises are yes and amen.

1064. We will have them in Jesus name. Amen.

1065. Amen. If you receive that today, would

  1066. you put those hands

  1067. together? I hope today's message

1068. encouraged you just like it encouraged

1069. me. For more encouraging messages, check

1070. out our website at freelife.org. Until

1071. then, I hope you have an amazing day.
