  10. about what's happening at your church.

  11. There's an amazing message in store just

  12. for you. I hope you're encouraged. I

  13. need everybody to say, "Built for this."

  14. Built for this. I need everybody to say,

  15. "Built for this." Built for this in the

  16. balcony say built for this. Built for

  17. this. I heard y'all.

  18. Come on. I need everybody to say built

  19. for this. Built for this. There we go.

  20. Say built for this. Built for this.

  21. Together. Say built for this. Built for

  22. this. Did y'all know that y'all are

  23. built for this?

  24. Built for this. This is what I want to

  25. talk to you about

  26. today. What if I was to tell you that

  27. there is something that you were born to

  28. do? God created you to do

  29. this, but you and I, if we're not

  30. careful, we will water it down to just

  31. be a good idea and not our divine

  32. calling. We'll water it down to be

  33. something that it can be

  34. nice rather than it having the divine

  35. impact that God created for it to have

  36. when he made you and when he made me.

  37. Anybody ever been in a line uh at maybe

  38. Starbucks, maybe Dunkin' Donuts? You

  39. ordered your food, you get up there to

  40. the line, you go in to pay. If you're at

  41. Dunkin, you're paying with a smile on

  42. your face. If you're at Starbucks,

  43. you're a tearful giver cuz it cost $58.

  44. I'm I'm joking. You You go to pay. You

  45. got to pay for your Starbucks. You got

  46. to pay for your drink. And then uh they

  47. don't take your card and they tell you

  48. the person in front of you paid for your

  49. drink. That ever happened to you? Boy,

  50. when that happened, that baby

  51. do that. It got the church dance going

  52. like I love that. That happened to me

  53. one time at

  54. Chick-fil-A. That's a great place to

  55. make it happen. You know what I'm

  56. saying? It hasn't happened at Longhorn

  57. yet. We're playing and praying and

  58. believing. But at Chick-fil-A, it has. I

  59. went to Chick-fil-A, man. I was You ever

  60. had one of those days where it wasn't a

  61. bad day? You just had so much going on

  62. that like you was just in the zone and

  63. you weren't meaning to be intense or

  64. overly direct, but you just were. Yeah.

  65. Like, but y'all know how to pray for my

  66. wife. I am this much all the time. And

  67. so, I was having one of those kind of

  68. days where I was just I was on my P's

  69. and Q's. I had to get things done. was

  70. going to get to Chick-fil-A uh in the

  71. middle of the workday. And of course,

  72. the line to get to Chick-fil-A up here

  73. on 98 started on I4. You had to get off

  74. of I4 just to get on the line. So, was

  75. going through there, was not listening

  76. to worship music, so my head space was I

  77. was getting even more frustrated. You

  78. get there, there's 28 different lines in

  79. order to get into Chick-fil-A, which is

  80. great, but the people in front of you

  81. never know which line to get in. They're

  82. stopping back, waiting five feet cuz

  83. they want to see which one's going to go

  84. first.

  85. choose how I said it in my head. Get

  86. through in the line. I'm I'm talking I'm

  87. talking with a young lady. I'm placing

  88. my order. I like to think that I'm being

  89. nice and I'm being respectful. And I

  90. also know I wear my emotions on my

  91. sleeves. So, I'm probably being a little

  92. Hey, man. Let me get a four piece count

  93. large with Coke Zero and give me a spicy

  94. chicken sandwich on the side. No

  95. pickles, Chick-fil-A sauce, and buffalo

  96. sauce, please. No, that's it. I

  97. appreciate it. I'm being a little I'm be

  98. I'm using the right words, but I don't

  99. mean it. Never happened to you. Okay,

  100. just me. Cool. Tell them that's

  101. business. So, I go through I do that

  102. whole thing. I I I start pulling up to

  103. to to get my food. Thankfully, they they

  104. do a great job with getting food out.

  105. So, I'm going to get my food or I'm

  106. going to pay. When I went to pay, the

  107. lady told me, "Sir, the the car in front

  108. of you just paid for your meal." They

  109. said whatever it is, they wanted to pay

  110. for

  111. you. Got out the truck, did a little

  112. dance, got back in got back in the truck

  113. and was so grateful. But then it's like

  114. she just kept looking at

  115. me like, "Yes, sir. They the car in

  116. front of you paid for you."

  117. almost like waiting to see if I was

  118. gonna pay for the person that was behind

  119. me. Now, you know, I would It's funny

  120. how we start to spiritualize things. My

  121. Bible talks about stewardship and I

  122. ain't signing no blank check. So, how

  123. much did they spend cuz I got diapers I

  124. got to buy. You know what I'm

  125. saying? This pay it, pay it forward, pay

  126. it backwards, pay it whatever direction

  127. they're coming through. It was so kind

  128. of the person that was in front of me.

  129. They had no idea the day that I was

  130. having. They didn't know the mindset

  131. that I was in. But that one act of

  132. kindness, it was a Chick-fil-A meal, but

  133. that one act of kindness of them just

  134. paying for it completely changed my

  135. mood, my demeanor, and my perspective

  136. for the entire day. It just completely

  137. shifted because of that one act of

  138. kindness. Have you ever experienced

  139. kindness before? Not somebody being nice

  140. to you, kindness. like you you don't

  141. have to do this. I can't repay you.

  142. You're not asking for anything in

  143. return, but but you're just doing this

  144. anyway. When I was growing up, I used to

  145. think that kindness was

  146. weakness. Uh I was the I was a nice guy

  147. in school for a bit and I had a big

  148. smile. I had a bigger personality and I

  149. was 6'7. And so there was a lot all at

  150. once. People

  151. I'm trying to figure Drew me and Yukar

  152. rocka I'm trying to figure out what's so

  153. funny 6'7 on the inside uh 5 foot seven

  154. on the outside and so when I was going

  155. through school I I was a nice guy for a

  156. little bit and then some things happened

  157. to me that I started getting a little

  158. callous that I was like you know what I

  159. don't want to be the nice guys cuz nice

  160. guys finish last. It was this narrative

  161. that I started bringing up in my head

  162. that when it came with friend groups or

  163. when it came with dating relationships,

  164. when it came to football, I played

  165. football. Aggression was celebrated. The

  166. more aggressive you are, the more the

  167. coach liked you. I learned really quick

  168. how to be aggressive. I went and I

  169. played rugby at

  170. university. Even worse, you got to be

  171. crazy to play rugby. Football plus

  172. soccer minus the pads. A mouthpiece if

  173. you want to. aggression, over-the-top,

  174. celebrated. And so my identity came up

  175. and not being a nice guy, but but being

  176. an overly intense person everywhere that

  177. I was at. So if I was talking, it was

  178. intense. If I was looking at you, it was

  179. intense. I was not being kind to anybody

  180. cuz I saw it as a

  181. weakness. As I continued to mature, I

  182. realized how childish that mindset was.

  183. That truly kindness is not a weakness.

  184. Kindness is a controlled strength.

  185. It's even in the face of whatever

  186. situation that is coming at me. I have

  187. enough internal strength to be kind to

  188. you. No matter what you just did to me,

  189. no matter what you said to me, no matter

  190. what you posted about me, no matter

  191. what's going on, I have the ability to

  192. be kind. It's a controlled strength. And

  193. if you have accepted Jesus into your

  194. life, you have this thing called Holy

  195. Spirit. It's the third part of the

  196. triune Godhead. God the Father, God the

  197. Son, and God the Holy Spirit. That's a

  198. tag team straight out of heaven. And you

  199. got Holy Spirit on the inside of you.

  200. Then you have the capacity to carry this

  201. thing of kindness, not just to be nice

  202. to people, but to make a divine impact

  203. and to those that are are in your circle

  204. of influence, in your home, and in your

  205. world. This message is titled built for

  206. this because I want you to know that you

  207. were built to carry kindness. You were

  208. built, the Bible says this, that if

  209. you're a follower of Jesus, you are the

  210. salt in the light of the world. Which

  211. means you are supposed to be attractive

  212. and you are supposed to push back

  213. darkness. One of the most attractive

  214. things is somebody that is being kind.

  215. My friends, I want my friends to be

  216. kind. It's attract. I want to be around

  217. them. I love being around nice, kind

  218. people. I I want to when I get treated

  219. kindly at a store, oh, you better

  220. believe I'm shopping there again. Why?

  221. Because there's a way that not just what

  222. they say, but it's the way that it makes

  223. me feel. Makes me feel dignified. Makes

  224. me feel like I'm not just another person

  225. walking, but like I'm a human being.

  226. Like there's honor that is going through

  227. with this thing of kindness. And

  228. kindness is exactly who God

  229. is. That's why you and I resonate with

  230. kindness so much. It's not just because

  231. it makes us feel good. It's because it

  232. reminds us of our God. And I like things

  233. that remind me of how amazing God is.

  234. Don't Don't believe me. Why? Watch this.

  235. Titus chapter 3:es 4-5. And I want you

  236. to read this highlighted parts with me.

  237. Here's what the Bible says. But when God

  238. our savior revealed his kindness and

  239. love, he saved us. Not because of the

  240. righteous things that we had done, but

  241. because of his mercy. It was his

  242. kindness. The law of first mention says

  243. whatever is at the front, whatever is

  244. first mentioned is the biggest. If you

  245. look at the ingredients label on your

  246. food, that first ingredient, it has the

  247. most of that inside of that food. His

  248. kindness and then his love is the thing

  249. that saved us. It's the thing that

  250. forgives us. It's the thing that gives

  251. us mercy. It's the thing that gives us

  252. grace. It's the thing that gives us what

  253. we don't deserve and that keeps us from

  254. getting what we do deserve. It It's his

  255. kindness towards you and towards me. Can

  256. anybody say God has been kind to you in

  257. your life? He's treated you better than

  258. what you've treated yourself. He's

  259. treated you better than somebody else

  260. might have. Not that they were even

  261. wrong, but can't

  262. nobody do me like

  263. Jesus. Can't nobody love me like the

  264. Lord. Old school song. My

  265. bad. This word kindness, it's used so

  266. many times in the Bible. Um, and and the

  267. the Hebrew word for it. Now, pause. Um,

  268. I'm not Pastor

  269. Scott. Pastor Scott does all the Hebrew

  270. stuff and all the that that's not me.

  271. You know what I'm saying? My little

  272. disclaimer on that. I'm going to give

  273. you the Poke County education version,

  274. which hey, we educated. We could do it

  275. now. I just might not say it like that.

  276. Might have a different twang to

  277. it. The word for

  278. kindness used many times in the Bible.

  279. It actually is one that describes God's

  280. character

  281. is hassed. Here here's what it in the

  282. King James version. It's often

  283. translated as his loving kindness. In in

  284. the ESV version, his it's often

  285. translated as his steadfast love, a love

  286. that endures, a love that is just going

  287. to be there no matter what. In the NIV

  288. version, uh it it talks about it, it

  289. translates it as unfailing love that is

  290. not just going to drop. is not going to

  291. let you go. It's not going to just quit

  292. whenever things start to get hard or

  293. when things don't go his way. He's still

  294. going to be there. Loving kindness,

  295. steadfast love, unfailing love, covenant

  296. loyalty is how a lot of scholarly

  297. research begins to talk about has said a

  298. kindness that describes

  299. God. All God knows is

  300. kindness. Here's why. Kindness is his

  301. motive. His methods are grace, mercy,

  302. forgiveness, love. It It starts from

  303. this thing of

  304. kindness because he is kind. You and I

  305. are able to pray a prayer and get

  306. forgiven of our sins. Have a complete

  307. status change from being somebody who

  308. was unworthy to somebody who's called a

  309. son and daughter of the king. the this

  310. idea of mercy and grace. He didn't get

  311. me the way that other people would have

  312. gotten me. He's held things back. He's

  313. protected me. He's loved me. He's cared

  314. for me. He has been kind to me. Kindness

  315. is the motive that God does everything

  316. through. It shows where his heart is.

  317. God, look to your neighbor, say, "God

  318. has been kind to you." God has been kind

  319. to you. Romans chapter 2 talks about

    Romans 2 chapter mention

  320. it's the kindness of the Lord that draws

  321. us towards repentance. It's it's not us

  322. being scared of his fist. It's not us

  323. the the the being scared of the

  324. damnation. It's the kindness of God that

  325. calls us towards repentance. His

  326. kindness does not change his standard.

  327. The kindness doesn't lower the bar to

  328. make us feel better. But his kindness is

  329. there in a way that coaches us in a way

  330. to say, "You can do it. Keep pursuing.

  331. Don't give up." He doesn't quit. He

  332. doesn't bail out on us. God has been

  333. kind to you and to me. It is literally

  334. who he is. is Hebrews 4:16. The Bible

    Hebrews 4:16

  335. says this, "Let us then with confidence

  336. draw near to the throne of grace that we

  337. may receive mercy and find grace to help

  338. in a time of

  339. need." Out of kindness, God says, "When

  340. you mess up, I don't need you to tuck

  341. tail and wonder if you can come in and

  342. see me. I need you boldly to come in."

  343. Why? because you feel good, because you

  344. look good, because you did good. Nah,

  345. not because of that. Because I'm that

  346. good, and because I'm that kind. That no

  347. matter what it is that you did, if

  348. you're coming to me, you're not going to

  349. be greeted by a wall. You're going to be

  350. greeted by a hug of loving kindness

  351. whenever you need it. So whether you're

  352. at the high highs or lows, kindness is

  353. what you're going to meet when it comes

  354. with God. Not because you did something

  355. to earn his kindness, but just because

  356. that's who he is. He is kind. So then

  357. what does it look like for kindness to

  358. play out in like our life? Like I'm not

  359. God. I'm glad he can do that, but like

  360. what about me? Like I know he in me, but

  361. like I'm in me, too.

  362. And I got a little Pastor Scott and

  363. Pastor Cindy in

  364. me. And a lot of it is great.

  365. some of it another

  366. message. What does it look like for

  367. kindness to play out inside of our

  368. lives? There's this story in the Bible

  369. about David and

  370. Mphibicheth. I'm so glad that there's

  371. not a student at the blend named

  372. Mphibicheth. But if there's one in the

  373. room, you are welcome to come to the

  374. blend. We'll have a great time. I I will

  375. give you a nickname. Um David

  376. Mphibicheth. He he David. Okay. He He's

  377. the He's the guy that you you've

  378. probably heard of. He He's the one that

  379. killed Goliath. Okay. I when I thought

  380. of when I think of David, I used to

  381. think of Jon Jones, MMA fighter. Like I

  382. thought that boy was serious. Like the

  383. the Bible says they used to celebrate

  384. Saul, who was the king at the time. Saul

  385. would kill his

  386. thousands, but David his tens of

  387. thousands. Everything's a movie in my

  388. head. That's how I hear it. that Saul

  389. killed his thousands. David his tens of

  390. thousands. I picture David wearing all

  391. black forces cuz you ain't never seen

  392. nobody lose a fight wearing all black

  393. forces. Like there David was one of them

  394. cats. David was one of them dudes like I

  395. I've pictured him as a warrior. Like

  396. this guy who didn't take nothing from

  397. nobody. The the Bible says he's a man

  398. after God's own heart. So, okay, cool.

  399. You got to puff up your chest a little

  400. bit. Make sure you roar like let's go.

  401. Let's get this thing. Let's be

  402. David. And there's a story in the Bible

  403. that I had never paid much attention to

  404. before this weekend, before this week

  405. preparing. And the stories about David

  406. and Mphibiched.

  407. David was the shepherd boy got anointed

  408. to be the next king of Israel while

  409. there was already a king.

  410. The king had a son who was next in line

  411. to be king. So it's not like there

  412. wasn't another person. There was just a

  413. complete shift. Everybody say a shift.

  414. There was a shift. There was a change of

  415. direction. There was a pivot that God

  416. was making in the leadership of his

  417. nation. So David gets anointed. Well,

  418. David, if you you got to read your Bible

  419. like this is better than a Netflix

  420. special. David, he comes into the king's

  421. palace. He's get over 20 attempts on his

  422. life. Saul's trying to kill him. Like

  423. it's this whole eb and flow. But Saul

  424. has a son named Jonathan. And because

  425. David's in the palace and David is

  426. around Saul that they're fighting wars

  427. together. They're hanging out together.

  428. They're eating brisket together. I mean,

  429. that's what I would be doing. They're

  430. they're having a great time together,

  431. right? David and Jonathan, they become

  432. boys. They got like a bromance going on.

  433. And then it turns to like a brotherhood.

  434. And then the Bible in order to show the

  435. the loyalty and the love between David

  436. and Jonathan. Here's what the Bible says

  437. in 1st Samuel 18 that Jonathan became

  438. one spirit with David and he loved him

  439. as himself. Overthe-top loyalty.

  440. Jonathan. Had it been me, I'd have been

  441. jealous. My pride would have kicked in.

  442. I would have had a hard time. Bro,

  443. you're taking my legacy. You're taking

  444. the setup for my future kids and for my

  445. grandkids. I was supposed to be the next

  446. king. I've been working and learning and

  447. preparing how to be the next king. And

  448. you just going to come over here and act

  449. like you're going to be the next dude in

  450. charge. I would have had a hard time.

  451. That's why I'm glad my name ain't

  452. written in the

  453. Bible. You should be,

  454. too. Jonathan, he he was cool. He here's

  455. why he was so cool. He loved God and he

  456. understood if God anointed

  457. him. Let me back up. He He's at home

  458. base. He can't be touched. That's

  459. something that God and if I mess with

  460. him, then now I'm messing with God. I

  461. don't want that smoke. He said, "Let me

  462. stay. If God is the one that appointed

  463. you, then I'm going to be here with

  464. you." They continued to develop this

  465. amazing, amazing friendship. And then

  466. Jonathan ended up making a covenant with

  467. David, a promise. Hey bro, we got to be

  468. locked in. I know I'm not going to be

  469. the king and I know that that is going

  470. to affect my family. I don't need

  471. anything from me. Just David, promise me

  472. that you are going to be kind to my

  473. family once I am gone. That's what

  474. Jonathan asked. He wanted the security

  475. for his family. He wanted to know that

  476. they're going to be looked after.

  477. They're going to be cared for. Not that

  478. people are going to be nice to them, but

  479. there's going to be a kindness that is

  480. going to be shown to them that they're

  481. going to be able to feel. David locked

  482. in with Jonathan said, "Bro, that ain't

  483. that ain't no pressure. I got you."

  484. Story goes on to talk about how Jonathan

  485. and King Saul, his dad, they were out at

  486. war and King Saul and Jonathan end up

  487. passing away. They die while at battle

  488. and everybody was so frantic and they

  489. had Jonathan in their arms and while

  490. they were running to get away the person

  491. that had Jonathan in his arms actually

  492. dropped Jonathan and he became crippled

  493. for the rest of his

  494. life. A tragedy that he could not

  495. control. Something that was done to him

  496. that this was not what he had

  497. experienced. But there was this time

  498. that happened and then now what do I do?

  499. He was a young boy at the time. But then

  500. from there, the people that had taken

  501. him, they were so nervous knowing that

  502. David would be the next king. And

  503. culturally, whenever a new king came

  504. into place, you eradicated the family

  505. line of the prior king to make sure that

  506. somebody didn't try to come up and take

  507. yours. There was no heist allowed. So,

  508. we're going to get rid of everybody.

  509. We're we're going to clear house to make

  510. sure everybody knows we're the ones that

  511. are standing in here. They were so

  512. nervous that that's what David was going

  513. to do to Mphibicheth that they ran him

  514. away and they put him in Loar.

  515. So important. So important. Loar th this

  516. place is not somewhere you went to. This

  517. is a place you got sent

  518. to. This wasn't a place that you would

  519. go vacation from. This was a place for

  520. outcasts. This was a place for people

  521. that nobody wanted to be around. This

  522. was a place of shame. This was a place

  523. of guilt. This was a place of depravity.

  524. You didn't have anything if you were in

  525. low debar. Low means

  526. no. Debar can mean pasture, word or

  527. communication

  528. together. Scholars will state that that

  529. word lobbar, that place, that city could

  530. be translated to no pasture, no voice,

  531. no future.

  532. Mphibicheth, grandson to the king, was

  533. living in a place of no future

  534. because he was

  535. hiding. He had shame. And now he was

  536. living in lack. He was hiding because he

  537. didn't want to get killed. He was hiding

  538. from his past. Hiding from not even what

  539. he had done, but what my family had

  540. done. My granddaddy made attempts to

  541. you. So I would I guess you're going to

  542. try to make attempts to me. Have you

  543. ever felt like you were having to pay

  544. the price for people that went before

  545. you where it's like because of

  546. everything that happened over there now

  547. I'm the one that is having to take all

  548. these hits. I can only take it for so

  549. long. I go into hiding. I don't want to

  550. be a part of that. That was not me. So

  551. in protecting himself the best way that

  552. they knew how he went into hiding.

  553. Shame. He he was he was ashamed not

  554. because of what not because that he got

  555. crippled but because of how people

  556. treated him. Nothing changed in who he

  557. was but how people saw him changed and

  558. because of the difference of how he was

  559. being treated he became shameful because

  560. people weren't honoring him. They

  561. weren't giving him the dignity at this

  562. time period which is such a shame. If

  563. you were crippled, you were considered

  564. second class, considered lower class.

  565. That's why they would push you out. And

  566. so for him, he felt shame. And then on

  567. top of that, he got crippled by doing

  568. something that was somebody else's

  569. fault. Now I'm paying the price for

  570. something that somebody else did. Now

  571. I'm shameful. This is written on me. And

  572. in those days, you were known not just

  573. by your name, but also by your

  574. condition.

  575. Mphibicheth the

  576. So everywhere he went, he was

  577. known by his condition. He was known by

  578. something that had happened to him.

  579. I don't know if you've ever walked

  580. around with the guilt of what you've

  581. done. If you've walked around with the

  582. guilt of what had happened to you, it

  583. put him in such a heavy deep place that

  584. he was choosing to stay in a place of

  585. lack, royal bloodline, but having to

  586. live like a beggar, scraping things up

  587. where he could. This is the story of

  588. what Mphibicheth was dealing with. And

  589. so David after Saul and Jonathan die,

  590. Mphibicheth's father and grandfather, he

  591. remembers his promise that he made to

  592. Jonathan that I will be kind to your

  593. family even after your absence. John uh

  594. King David, he calls in some servants,

  595. some of them that had worked with Saul,

  596. and said, "Surely there is at least one

  597. person out of the lineage of Saul that I

  598. can show kindness to."

  599. That's counter what any other king would

  600. have done. Any other king, they might

  601. have done that, but they might have set

  602. it up in order to kill him. His whole

  603. thing was, I want them to come, not

  604. because I'm going to ambush them with

  605. violence. I want to ambush them with

  606. kindness. I want to bring them in and

  607. embrace them. I don't want to bring them

  608. in where they don't feel like they're

  609. welcome. They don't feel like they're

  610. invited. They feel like they're an

  611. outcast. I want them to sit down here.

  612. David asked that. They said, "For sure

  613. there is. This guy Mphibicheth. He's in

  614. Loabar. He's in a place of no future.

  615. He's left there. He can't even get over

  616. here." David said, "That's not an

  617. option. You go get him and you bring him

  618. back over here. It's not enough for them

  619. to have to make it to me. I will send my

  620. presence to you and help it guide you

  621. back towards me. Anybody else glad that

  622. Jesus sent his presence to us where he

  623. died on the cross for you and for me?

  624. And then now as we continue to follow

  625. him, we continue to get closer and

  626. closer to God. David, he sent out a

  627. servant. They bring back Mphibicheth.

  628. Mphibicheth is shaking in his boots.

  629. I think I'm about to get killed. I think

  630. I'm gonna get ambushed. David does the

  631. complete opposite. David actually says

  632. this, "The land that was your

  633. grandfather's, that is now yours. I'm

  634. giving you the birthright of your land.

  635. And in 2 Samuel

    2 Samuel 9:1

  636. 9:1, David says, "And Mphibicheth, I

  637. want you to sit as my table as one of my

  638. sons." And had a table to eat at for the

  639. rest of his life. This cat went from a

  640. place of no future and of lack to eating

  641. in the king's palace and having a

  642. pasture that was formerly owned by a

  643. king. How could that happen?

  644. Because of

  645. kindness. Because of kindness. Kindness

  646. is so much more than an emotion.

  647. Kindness has a divine power. How is it

  648. divine power? Because it is a

  649. characteristic of God. God or kindness

  650. was God's idea, not man's idea. But

  651. kindness is something that God

  652. challenges you and challenges me to act

  653. out in this world. God says, "I'm going

  654. to be kind to you. Now, I need you to go

  655. be kind to everybody else at your job. I

  656. need you to go be kind inside of your

  657. family. I need you to show kindness

  658. while you're at work. Be kind while

  659. you're at school. Be kind while you're

  660. shopping. Be kind cuz you don't know

  661. where people are and you don't know

  662. where your kindness is going to help

  663. people get to. And it's not your job or

  664. my job to know all the details.

  665. It's our job to extend the kindness that

  666. was once extended that is currently

  667. being extended to you and to me. If

  668. David, a man, because no man should be

  669. idolized. I love I love reading the

  670. story about David. And I have so many

  671. connection points with David, but David

  672. messes up just like you and just like

  673. me. David ain't to be worshiped. David

  674. ain't to be praised. But because of

  675. David's relationship with God, the Bible

  676. says that David was a man after God's

  677. own heart. Because of David's

  678. relationship with God, he had this

  679. conviction of being kind to all those

  680. around me. Whether it made sense or

  681. whether it didn't, whether people

  682. understood it or not, whether I was

  683. going to be held accountable or whether

  684. the person I made the promise to is now

  685. dead, who would

  686. know? Had this conviction of I'm going

  687. to stay kind to all those that are

  688. around me. If David is able to do that

  689. as a man, how much more is our heavenly

  690. father going to make sure that he

  691. remains faithful to his promise and to

  692. his character of being kind to you and

  693. being kind to me. Know this, you're not

  694. just in the kingdom of God. He's called

  695. you sons and daughters. That you and I

  696. might have first been an outcast, but

  697. now he sees us as part of the royalty,

  698. the royal bloodline. That you are now in

  699. his royal priesthood. that he has now

  700. had a spot at the table that was set up

  701. for you, just waiting for you to accept

  702. his invitation of kindness. Everything

  703. he does is out of this kindness. And

  704. just like David, you and I are built for

  705. this. Everybody say, "I'm built for

  706. this." Built for this. You want to know

  707. how I know you're built for this? The

  708. Bible says this. When you accept Jesus

  709. into your life, you have Holy Spirit.

  710. Say, "Holy Spirit."

  711. Holy Spirit's job is to change you and

  712. to change me from the inside

  713. out. At first, we were a vacant

  714. house. We allow Holy Spirit in our

  715. lives. You live here. He says, "Perfect.

  716. Now, it's my time to decorate. It's my

  717. time to make some things arrange." And

  718. the Bible in Galatians shows us how does

  719. Holy Spirit begin to decorate us from

  720. the inside out. You might have heard

  721. this called the fruit of the spirit.

  722. Galatians chapter 5 22-23 the Bible says

    Galatians 5 chapter mention

  723. this. But the Holy Spirit produces this

  724. kind of fruit in our lives. Love, joy,

  725. peace, patience,

  726. goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and

  727. self-control. There is no law against

  728. any of these. Meaning nobody can say

  729. that there's something bad about any one

  730. of those fruit of the spirit. Such the

  731. Holy Spirit is the one that produces

  732. them. Which means you and I aren't that

  733. good in order to make those happen.

  734. Without Holy Spirit, without a

  735. relationship with Jesus, I cannot expect

  736. to have any of that. Anybody got a green

  737. thumb? You like plans. You like I I like

  738. fake plants cuz they actually stay alive

  739. in my house. I I can't keep a plant

  740. alive. But but I have some buddies, my

  741. boy Mike. I got I I got some buddies

  742. that they like to grow crops. And I have

  743. a buddy, he he's got an apple

  744. tree. I would be stupid to go over to

  745. him and say, "Let me get a banana off

  746. your apple tree."

  747. Cuz it it it don't produce that. Like

  748. the math ain't mapping, right?

  749. I it I would not be able to go and say,

  750. "Hey, let me get a watermelon off of the

  751. off off your watermelon crops." Right?

  752. But the root is all cut

  753. up. The health of the root determines

  754. the health of the fruit.

  755. The healthier the root is, the healthier

  756. the fruit is. The healthier the root of

  757. your relationship with Jesus is, the

  758. healthier the root the fruit of these

  759. fruit of the spirit is going to be

  760. evident inside of your life. That's why

  761. the Bible says seek first the kingdom of

  762. heaven. Then all these things are going

  763. to be added to you. Don't go after

  764. kindness alone. Go after Jesus and then

  765. kindness is going to be that byproduct.

  766. Gentleness is going to be that

  767. byproduct. Patience is going to be that

  768. byproduct. Jesus is always going to be

  769. the focus. That's why Jesus told this

  770. parable, the good Samaritan in Luke 10.

  771. So it was it was all about kindness.

  772. This guy gets jumped, beat up, left on

  773. the side of the road. People who knew

  774. better just walked right past them. They

  775. knew that they should stop. Ah, but I

  776. ain't got time to wait at my schedule

  777. set up.

  778. people not who just knew better, but the

  779. people who had who had the resources in

  780. order to make a difference for the guy,

  781. they just walked past him. They just

  782. kept scrolling on TikTok. They're like,

  783. "It's an inconvenience. I don't have

  784. time for that." But then this good

  785. Samaritan shows up.

  786. Somebody of a different race, a

  787. different social class in the time,

  788. somebody who you're not supposed to be

  789. the one that is doing this. Everybody

  790. else should, but not you. Jesus

  791. purposefully calls that out in order to

  792. say that kindness knows no boundaries.

  793. Kindness can go to anybody. Kindness to

  794. go for everybody. So I don't care if

  795. you're younger than me and older than

  796. me. You deserve kindness from me. I

  797. don't care if you're my race or a

  798. different race. I'm a mut so I don't

  799. even know what I am. You deserve

  800. kindness from me. Different social

  801. economical status. You deserve kindness.

  802. From a different part of the world, you

  803. deserve kindness. you speak a different

  804. language. You deserve kindness.

  805. The point of this, the point of this

  806. parable was to talk about the

  807. kindness that comes from the right

  808. heart.

  809. Because kindness is always tied to God's

  810. motive. And motive comes from the heart.

  811. God is kind to you because his heart

  812. toward you is kind. His thoughts towards

  813. you are kind. His plans for you, they're

  814. kind. the ones that set you up, the ones

  815. that protect, the ones that hold you to

  816. the standard and cheer you on while

  817. you're going there. Jesus is kind to you

  818. and to me. If you're rooted in Jesus,

  819. kindness is going to continue showing

  820. up. So, here's here's what I would say.

  821. You and I, we need to stop treating

  822. kindness like it's optional.

  823. You stop treating kindness like it's an

  824. emotion and start treating it like you

  825. and I were literally created and

  826. purposed for this

  827. to be the salt and light to the world to

  828. show people that God is not mad at them

  829. but mad about them. There's this

  830. phrasing I've I've heard in my life

  831. growing up. We talk about it with

  832. students. There's four gospels in the

  833. Bible. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

  834. your life, your story, your interactions

  835. is the fifth gospel. Most people will

  836. read you before they read the other

  837. four. Is how I'm living is my level of

  838. kindness, my interaction with people. Is

  839. it pushing people to get closer to

  840. Jesus?

  841. Is it showing the kindness that Jesus

  842. has of calling us towards repentance out

  843. of kindness? Not obligation, not

  844. damnation, not through

  845. threats, through his kindness. Yes.

  846. Thoughts that he has towards you. So, so

  847. kind. Kindness is not a weakness. It's

  848. your superpower that you've been given

  849. from Holy Spirit in order to impact the

  850. world around you and create a legacy

  851. that will outlive you. Not for your

  852. personal gain, but for his gain. All of

  853. this for the glory of one. So, in a

  854. culture and in a world that fights to be

  855. number one, fight for

  856. kindness. Fight for kindness. I don't

  857. have to be the fight for kindness with

  858. your words, with your motives, with your

  859. action. Fight for it in a world in a

  860. world that so celebrates the hustle and

  861. grind and thinking that that's the way

  862. to get to the

  863. top. Value kindness more. Kindness will

  864. take you further than your efforts ever

  865. will kind. Why? Because it's not a

  866. man-made idea. It's a heavenly idea.

  867. It's something that has divine power

  868. connected. All of us have a craving and

  869. a longing for kindness because it's the

  870. longing for God that comes from it.

  871. Stand for truth, but do it with

  872. kindness. Everybody stand on your

  873. feet. God in his loving

  874. kindness, he pulled you out of Loabar.

  875. He pulled you out of a place of no

  876. future. He pulled you out of the cycle

  877. that you me might have continuously been

  878. in. He He pulled you out of a place of

  879. shame. He pulled you out of a place of

  880. guilt. He pulled you out of a place of

  881. lack and gave you a seat at his table

  882. which has more than you and I could ever

  883. ask or

  884. think. And his challenge to you and his

  885. challenges to me is don't sit at the

  886. table alone.

  887. Who can you be kind to and invite to

  888. this table? To experience and to feel

  889. the freedom and the liberation that

  890. comes from his kindness. We're called to

  891. do that to the world that is around us.

  892. There's this phrasing in theology. It's

  893. called the IMO day. You might have heard

  894. it before. It's a different way of

  895. saying that we're made in the image of

  896. God.

  897. a Mago day because kindness is a part of

  898. his character and because you and I were

  899. created in his image. Kindness should be

  900. a part of your character and my

  901. character every

  902. day. Not the kind that changes depending

  903. on where I'm at or depending on who I'm

  904. talking to, but it is who I am.

  905. Regardless of the situation or the

  906. circumstance, I will treat you with

  907. kindness. My goal is to give kindness.

  908. Why? Cuz I recognize how kind he has

  909. been to me. It is my joy. It is my

  910. pleasure. It is my honor in order to be

  911. kind to those that are around me. Father

  912. God, we love you so much. Thank you for

  913. your loving kindness that sent Jesus on

  914. the cross for us before we even had the

  915. opportunity to choose him, to love him,

  916. to do anything. Thank you for how you

  917. have set us up. Thank you for where you

  918. have brought us from, where you are

  919. currently bringing us from and the plans

  920. that you have for us to get out of where

  921. we currently are. You are always in

  922. motion. You are always in movement and

  923. it is always from the motive in the

  924. heart of kindness. God, as we continue

  925. to pursue you, I pray that you build up

  926. kindness on the inside of us. That as we

  927. see people, we see we are able to look

  928. for ways that we're able to be kind.

  929. that with our hands, we're able to sh

  930. show kindness in different ways. With

  931. our mouth, we're able to express

  932. kindness to those that are around us.

  933. Not just for our benefit, but for the

  934. benefit of you so that the world can be

  935. more restored, more healed, more

  936. repaired, more looking like you. God,

  937. help us add more of you into the world

  938. that we live in. And help us be boldly

  939. doing this, knowing that we were built

  940. for this. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

  941. Amen. Amen. I told you the message would

  942. encourage you. For more encouraging

  943. messages, feel free to visit our

  946. you have an amazing day.
