  1. Hey everyone, I'm Liz and we are so glad

  2. you decided to join us today. This

  3. season is full of lights, laughter, and

  4. moments with the people we love. But at

  5. the center of it all is Jesus. Here at

  6. Free Life Chapel, we're all about

  7. helping others discover and live the

  8. free life in Christ. So, if you are ever

  9. in the Central Florida area, we'd love

  10. to connect with you and your family at

  11. one of our Sunday services, 9:00 a.m.,

  12. 10:45, or 12:30 p.m. You can also learn

  13. more about who we are and how to get

  14. connected by visiting our website,

  15. freelifechapel.org.

  16. Now, let's jump into today's message cuz

  17. I know you're going to love it.

  18. >> I wasn't raised uh celebrating or

  19. recognizing Advent. Wasn't something we

  20. did. I always saw it on the calendar,

  21. just didn't know what it meant. Advent

  22. literally means arrival. It is looking

  23. ahead and on the countdown with

  24. anticipation. Jesus is coming. Jesus is

  25. coming. And it's really important, I

  26. think, that we have that awareness

  27. intentionally because the culture and

  28. the season we live in can get us so

  29. wrapped up into trees and gifts and

  30. shopping and Amazon and all of that

  31. going on that we can really truly drop,

  32. forget, or lessen what this season

  33. really is all about. Because I want to

  34. remind you something. Jesus's coming to

  35. this earth was not polite. Jesus did not

  36. come and say, "Excuse me, would would

  37. you all mind if I?" That's not how this

  38. went down. When Jesus came, Jesus was a

  39. divine interruption. Radically

  40. interrupted our world. Broke into

  41. culture. Said, "I'm here." And and all

  42. of a sudden affected all of our lives.

  43. You and I are different today because

  44. Jesus came. And we can't even understand

  45. the radical impact that we have in our

  46. life because he came. Even people that

  47. are not Christ followers, their lives

  48. have been radically impacted by the

  49. reality of Jesus coming. And that's what

  50. we're talking about. This interruption

  51. into our mess. But what a wonderful

  52. interruption it was. I want to talk to

  53. you today about peace. What is peace? I

  54. think we we we we may misunderstand it

  55. or we we have just a very scant very

  56. shallow thought process about it. And I

  57. understand that until you see it in the

  58. word. And I want to show you what the

  59. Bible says about peace. Number one,

  60. peace is a person.

  61. Peace is a is a person. The book of Luke

    Luke 2 chapter mention

  62. chapter 2, this is where the angels are

  63. announcing Jesus is coming. Here's

  64. here's what they said. Here's what it

  65. says. Suddenly, many other angels came

  66. down from heaven and joined in praising

  67. God. They said, "Praise God in heaven.

  68. Peace on earth to everyone who pleases

  69. God.

  70. The these angels, they did not come

  71. whispering,

  72. "Hey, hey, shepherd,

  73. Jesus is coming."

  74. They like showed up big, bold, bright,

  75. proud, yo.

  76. Boom! MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, LIGHTS UP THE

  77. SKY. ALL THESE ANGELS ARE showing up

  78. going, "Jesus is coming to the earth."

  79. They're making this radical

  80. announcement, this interruption in the

  81. middle of the night, coming into

  82. Bethlehem, announcing this news. And

  83. look what it says. It says peace on

  84. earth because there had been none before

  85. JESUS GOT THERE.

  86. >> THAT there there was no peace. There's

  87. peace in heaven. There's peace in

  88. eternity. But I need some peace right

  89. now. Could anybody use some more peace

  90. in your life right now? Just a little

  91. bit. Yeah, I know. Me, too. And that's

  92. why this is good news. But it says,

  93. "Peace on earth to everyone who pleases

  94. God. As long as I'm focused on him, as

  95. long as I'm aware that he's there, as

  96. long as he's got my attention, I'm God

  97. conscious, I have the ability to live

  98. with this peace in my life that Jesus

  99. came to give us." In fact, when the

  100. angels made this announcement, they were

  101. reiterating what the prophet Isaiah in

  102. the Old Testament had said about Jesus,

  103. his coming hundreds of years before

  104. Jesus is born. And here's what Isaiah

  105. said in the book of in chapter nine. He

  106. says that Jesus will be the prince of

  107. peace,

  108. y'all. Prince is a is a title of

  109. authority.

  110. It's a role of I decide things. I'm not

  111. taking a vote. I don't really care what

  112. they say. If I'm the prince, I'm ruling

  113. in this situation. Jesus is the ruler,

  114. the authority, the voice that decides

  115. about peace. And that's what he is

  116. called, the prince of peace. His name it

  117. it it carries that that power. It

  118. carries that impact. And this is more

  119. than just a feeling. This is the person

  120. of Jesus. Oh, peace has a name. His

  121. peace's name is Jesus. And have you ever

  122. been in a place where you just need to

  123. say his name? You've been going through

  124. something like Jesus. You ever

  125. experienced that before? Didn't know

  126. what to pray, but oh Jesus. Jesus. Have

  127. you noticed that when you hit those

  128. points saying, "Oh, Bob." Just does not

  129. do for you what Jesus does.

  130. Oh, Paco. Oh, no. That ain't going to

  131. peanut. No, it it just doesn't do. Cha

  132. na. IT IT DOESN'T WORK. And I'm not mad

  133. at any of those folks. Lulu, Wilbur, any

  134. of them. I'M NOT MAD AT ANYBODY'S NAME.

  135. BUT IT JUST DOESN'T HIT LIKE JESUS.

  136. BECAUSE when you say Jesus, his name

  137. literally means salvation.

  138. >> You're literally calling on salvation.

  139. The one who carries peace and brings it

  140. into our life. That's exactly what

  141. you're declaring. That's why Ephesians

  142. chapter 2:14 says this. Read it with me.

  143. For he himself is our

  144. Jesus is our peace. Peace has a name.

  145. Jesus. That means you you can have a

  146. relationship with peace.

  147. Peace is not a noun that sits over to

  148. the side that you just look at. Peace is

  149. a person that is alive and active

  150. and you can relate, connect with, you

  151. can interact, you can talk to peace, you

  152. can ask peace to come.

  153. >> This is who he is and this is what he

  154. does. And and let me remind you when I

  155. say peace what we're talking about.

  156. Because some of you have the thought

  157. process, well, I know what peace is.

  158. Peace is when there's no more conflict

  159. in my life. Well, good luck with that.

  160. >> When ever have you lived conflict free?

  161. >> When ever have you been in so much

  162. control that you could stop this and

  163. stop that and all I take today is peace.

  164. Then you scroll through social media and

  165. 7 seconds into social media, you're

  166. conflicted again, right? Conflict

  167. happens all around. How many of you are

  168. married?

  169. >> Conflict. There you go. Conflict.

  170. Conflict. Conflict. How many you have

  171. kids? Enough said. How many you have a

  172. job? Hey, how many you have a pulse? You

  173. breathe. You have a pulse. WELCOME TO

  174. CONFLICT. It is pre-scheduled. It's

  175. coming. You can't stop it. Conflict is

  176. there. So peace is not the absence of

  177. conflict. That's not what the Bible

  178. says. That's not realistic. The word for

  179. peace is shalom. And we need some shalom

  180. in our home is what I'm trying to tell

  181. you. Shalom. What does shalom mean? It

  182. literally means to be whole, to be

  183. complete. It means nothing missing,

  184. nothing broken. It's even a word that

  185. was used in the financial world where it

  186. means the debt has been paid.

  187. Shalom. All the corners are tucked in.

  188. It's settled. It's done. It's complete.

  189. It's whole. Nothing is out of order. You

  190. see, before Jesus came, that wasn't the

  191. option. That wasn't the reality. There

  192. were gaps. There were holes. There was a

  193. mess. Now that Jesus has come, there's

  194. no reason for you to live without it.

  195. >> Peace is a person. You can know him. But

  196. but peace also is a mission.

  197. It's a mission. There's a purpose to

  198. peace. Jesus came with this mission to

  199. bring peace to the earth. That's what

  200. the angel said. What was the mission? To

  201. heal the divide, the breakdown, the

  202. separation that happened all the way

  203. back in Genesis. We've been waiting a

  204. long time for this. Jes Adam and Eve

  205. screwed this thing up and all of a

  206. sudden we have chaos. We have separation

  207. between God and man. And if it had not

  208. been Adam and Eve, it would have been

  209. Scott and Cindy. We would have screwed

  210. the whole thing up. Not Cindy. It would

  211. have been Scott. Scott would have

  212. screwed this whole thing up and and I

  213. would have made it go sideways and we

  214. would HAVE NEEDED JESUS. THIS IS why

  215. Jesus is called the second Adam. The

  216. first Adam blew it. And what did he

  217. blow? He blew the connection the the

  218. relationship that that that God and man

  219. had together. When Adam blew it with

  220. sin, rebellion, and was evicted from the

  221. garden, Jesus is called the second Adam

  222. who came back in to do it right and to

  223. restore what? Adam broke apart. That's

  224. exactly why he came. The Bible says in

  225. Luke chapter 19, it says, "The Son of

    Luke 19 chapter mention

  226. Man came to seek and to save that which

  227. was lost, not those

  228. that

  229. well, what what's the difference? He

  230. didn't just come Oh, he did come to save

  231. people, but he came to save everything

  232. that we lost in the garden." When man

  233. and God were separated, everything Adam

  234. and Eve had, oh, they had relationship,

  235. but within that relationship, they also

  236. had a peace. They had a joy. They had a

  237. a rest inside. They had provision

  238. coming. They they had so many things

  239. that were available to them that wasn't

  240. available after they sinned. And the

  241. Bible says that Jesus came to restore

  242. that. Somebody shout that.

  243. >> That's what he came to restore. He came

  244. to heal what broke down there. And how

  245. did he do it? He did it by dying on the

  246. cross for you and I. Taking our place,

  247. paying our price for the breakdown

  248. between God and humanity to then heal

  249. and restore that. That's what John

    John 14 chapter mention

  250. chapter 14 Jesus Jesus said this. He

  251. said this, "Peace I leave with you. My

  252. peace I give you. I do not give to you

  253. as the world gives. Do not let your

  254. hearts be troubled and do not be

  255. afraid." He He's saying the peace that I

  256. have for you is not common. It's

  257. superior and it's outside of anything

  258. you're going to find in this world. You

  259. can go to a party, do a pill, a person,

  260. go on a vacation, buy a new house,

  261. change jobs, all of that stuff. And that

  262. thing that you think is going to give

  263. you peace, it's going to be gone like

  264. that.

  265. >> It's horrible to think, I just need a

  266. vacation. You go on a vacation and

  267. you're back in 30 minutes being back,

  268. you've already got chaos happening in

  269. the house again. like where did all that

  270. peace go? It's you're trying a piece

  271. that the world gives and it runs out.

  272. It's not going to it's not going to

  273. last. But Jesus said, I got a piece. I

  274. got a piece that's not of this world.

  275. And I got a peace that doesn't ask the

  276. world if it's okay if you live in peace.

  277. I'm the prince of peace. I'm the one who

  278. decides. I'm the one who rules. I walk

  279. in authority. And that peace is what I

  280. want you to walk in. And here's what he

  281. says. He said, "Don't let your heart get

  282. twisted. Don't go crazy and lose your

  283. mind." HE SAID, "DON'T BE TROUBLED. DO

  284. NOT BE AFRAID. WHY WOULD HE SAY THAT?

  285. BECAUSE life is bringing some trouble.

  286. Life is bringing some opportunities to

  287. freak out right now. AND HE'S SAYING,

  288. "DON'T DO THAT. HOLD. I got you. Hold.

  289. My peace is different. You're not

  290. depending on circumstances to get

  291. better. I'm going to do something in you

  292. so that you're greater inside, stronger

  293. inside than the stuff happening outside.

  294. Greater is he who is in you than the

  295. stuff that's happening around you.

  296. >> That means I can stand in it and have a

  297. peace as if I'm standing in the eye of

  298. the storm. Everything is twisting around

  299. me and everything is blowing away, but

  300. I'm standing in a place of calm and I

  301. know everything is going to be all

  302. right.

  303. You see, when Jesus came and he died,

  304. now your sin debt is gone. I if if I

  305. told everyone today, I'm writing a check

  306. and I'm going to I'm going to leave you

  307. debtree before you leave this house

  308. today. I'm paying off your house. I'm

  309. paying off your car. I'm I'm I'm taking

  310. care of your kids. Like just gone. Would

  311. that kind of be good news to anybody in

  312. the room right there?

  313. >> Yeah. Don't approach me after church.

  314. It's not happening. But I'm I'm just

  315. saying. I'm just saying. Ladies and

  316. gentlemen, we're talking we're talking

  317. resources. They come, they go, and it's

  318. great to be debtree. I get all that. But

  319. there was a debt that you had no ability

  320. to pay off yourself that Jesus stepped

  321. in and he said, "I'm paying this bill.

  322. It's a sin debt that is going to stain

  323. you and it will dictate to your

  324. eternity, but I'm stepping in and I'm

  325. wiping the slate clean. I'm paying it

  326. for you." Can anybody say, "Thank you,

  327. Jesus, for his debt-free plan in our

  328. life as well." That's good news. So now

  329. you're no longer doing life alone.

  330. You're part of the family of God. And we

  331. a crazy family. We are a crazy family.

  332. But but but but you're part of a family.

  333. You belong now. So peace is a person and

  334. peace is a mission. But peace is also a

  335. weapon.

  336. Oh, I I need to lean into this one right

  337. here for you. Because you see, peace is

  338. a force that comes to interrupt chaos in

  339. your life.

  340. The challenge is many of us think peace

  341. is a reward

  342. for lasting long enough when the truth

  343. is peace is a weapon

  344. >> that steps into chaos that turns into a

  345. reward in your life.

  346. >> You are not living as a victim of

  347. circumstances, waiting for it to change

  348. and go away. You're not waiting on the

  349. storm to run out of rain before you ever

  350. see the sunshine again. He says, "I will

  351. step into it and peace is going to rule

  352. and reign in this situation and it will

  353. turn things for your good. Peace is a

  354. weapon." Oh, we got to stop seeing it as

  355. this cute cuddly little furry kind of

  356. thing. That's not what peace is. Peace

  357. has fangs. Peace has shoulders. Peace

  358. growls. Peace peace leans in and it goes

  359. after it confronts. It fights those

  360. things that are trying to destroy you.

  361. In the book of Ephesians chapter 6, this

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  362. guy named Paul who wrote, he's writing

  363. in this chapter about we got to put on

  364. the full armor of Christ, helmet of

  365. salvation, shield of faith, but talking

  366. all these amazing pieces of armor. And

  367. he says, I want your feet shod with the

  368. preparation of the gospel of peace. In

  369. other words, the the the shoes that you

  370. wear, they are literally the gospel of

  371. peace. It's the good news and the truth

  372. of the peace of God is on your feet. Why

  373. is it important that your shoes are

  374. shoes of peace? Because when you are in

  375. a fight, the enemy of your life, the

  376. circumstances he throws at you are

  377. trying to unnerve you, to derail you, to

  378. get you to throw your hands up and quit

  379. and walk away. It doesn't work. I don't

  380. really care. And you bail. Ladies and

  381. gentlemen, when life hits you in the

  382. face, you got to know something deeper

  383. than circumstances. When life comes at

  384. you, you got to know that in spite of

  385. what I feel, this is what I know.

  386. Feelings will lie to you. Emotions will

  387. lie to you. The truth of God's word will

  388. become an anchor in your life. And when

  389. your feet are solid and situated, it

  390. will hold you when the wind blows. You

  391. may rock, but my feet are not leaving

  392. its place. I've got peace that I'm

  393. standing on, and it's fighting back for

  394. me. This is WHAT'S AMAZING. WHEN YOU

  395. UNDERSTAND THAT, then it gives a picture

  396. for what Romans chapter 16 really comes

    Romans 16 chapter mention

  397. alive in this. I want you to read it

  398. with me. Ready? The God of peace will

  399. quickly crush Satan under your feet.

  400. When you're standing in this peace, IT'S

  401. NOT THAT I'M JUST STANDING AND I'M JUST

  402. HOLDING ON. Oh God, I hope I can weather

  403. this. No, something is dying under your

  404. feet. You're crushing the enemy when you

  405. HOLD ON. WHEN YOU DON'T BELIEVE HIS LIE,

  406. WHEN YOU DON'T RESPOND to the emotions,

  407. when you don't let them trigger you

  408. online and I hold my ground, something

  409. is dying. The enemy of your life is

  410. dying under this peace, THIS GOSPEL OF

  411. PEACE THAT YOU'RE STANDING ON IN your

  412. life. There is nothing like knowing that

  413. I'm not holding on to him. He's actually

  414. holding on to me. Crazy times come, but

  415. peace is your weapon.

  416. in December

  417. 1914,

  418. about three years before I was born.

  419. In 1914,

  420. World War I had broken out and they were

  421. five months into the war.

  422. The Germans and the British

  423. were at it. They were dug in and the

  424. front that they were fighting on, the

  425. western front in particular that they

  426. were fighting on was just basically a

  427. hell on earth. It was it was horrible.

  428. The landscape between both armies was

  429. covered in barbed wire. It was so cold

  430. that the ground was frozen solid. It was

  431. just frozen mud everywhere in the air.

  432. Historians say you could smell artillery

  433. fire, the gunpowder that was in the air.

  434. And they said you could even have the

  435. stench of death because so many were

  436. dying. It was a tragic scenario.

  437. The British were in one side, the

  438. Germans were on the other side, and the

  439. land between them was called no man's

  440. land. Nobody stepped into it. If you

  441. stepped into it, you get shot. You You

  442. die. It was just It was a standoff. And

  443. they had been fighting for several

  444. months, shooting real bullets, shooting

  445. real artillery at each other. But but

  446. something unexpected happened. In

  447. December 1914

  448. on Christmas Eve,

  449. there was a sudden stop.

  450. A silence

  451. hit the battlefield.

  452. It was weird. It you would almost think

  453. that generals had gotten together,

  454. signed a peace treaty, and settled

  455. everything. But that that's really not

  456. actually what happened. Something

  457. something even greater than that

  458. happened.

  459. It started on the German side and it

  460. made the British a little suspicious and

  461. they were quite honestly confused

  462. because in the middle of the night the

  463. British were looking and they started

  464. seeing little lights

  465. appear on the German side and they're

  466. like what what are these lights that

  467. we're seeing? Come on.

  468. And then there was there was singing

  469. heard

  470. in German. The the British didn't speak

  471. German. They didn't know what they were

  472. saying. But after a minute, they they

  473. understood they I know that melody.

  474. And slowly the British began to join in

  475. singing.

  476. And come to find out all of them

  477. together, the Germans and the British

  478. were singing s Silent

  479. night,

  480. holy night.

  481. Both armies

  482. in the cold of the night. And come to

  483. find out, the Germans, the little light

  484. were miniature Christmas trees that they

  485. were holding up with a little light in

  486. them.

  487. And in that moment,

  488. war was no longer the agenda.

  489. In that moment, the recognition on both

  490. sides that this is the night that peace

  491. came to the earth.

  492. The spirit of Jesus came alive on that

  493. battlefield in 1914

  494. unannounced. And here's what's even

  495. crazier.

  496. When this hit and they began to sing and

  497. fill the air with this singing and these

  498. little lights, the soldiers climbed out

  499. of the trenches and started moving into

  500. no man's zone.

  501. They're stepping out and the officers on

  502. both SIDES WERE SCREAMING, "GET BACK IN

  503. THE TRENCHES. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" THEY

  504. WENT CRAZY. But but the spirit and the

  505. atmosphere in that war zone of Christ of

  506. of that healing of that the peace of

  507. that night was so strong they both began

  508. to come out and they met. History

  509. records they met in no man's zone.

  510. They're stepping over barbed wire to get

  511. out in the middle and they begin to

  512. shake hands with the men that they were

  513. just shooting bullets at hours earlier.

  514. And now they begin to share food.

  515. They're sharing cigarettes. They're

  516. pulling pictures out and showing this is

  517. my wife. These are my kids. They're

  518. sharing a moment all together in no

  519. man's land. They've never talked to each

  520. other. They're trying to communicate the

  521. best they can. They they even went so

  522. far as somebody a a soccer ball came out

  523. and they played a soccer game

  524. in no man's land.

  525. >> Two armies that were just trying to

  526. EXTERMINATE EACH OTHER. BUT SOMETHING

  527. hit that night. The spirit of Christ,

  528. the spirit of peace really just brought

  529. them to A PLACE WHERE IT BEGAN TO unify

  530. that entire place. And come to find out

  531. that that moment of peace was stronger

  532. than the authority of war.

  533. >> This was so real that today in the in

  534. the UK there is a monument. There's a

  535. statue that has been prepared that is

  536. now up to commemorate

  537. that night

  538. that the soldiers went against their

  539. officers orders and they met in the

  540. middle. And it was the spirit of that

  541. night that began to heal what was

  542. actually being destroyed. I I want you

  543. to understand something today.

  544. The peace of Jesus is more powerful than

  545. politics and war.

  546. >> It's enough to stop bullets and turn

  547. enemies into brothers. And the power of

  548. peace that Jesus brings doesn't wait for

  549. your war to end before it takes effect.

  550. The war was going on, but peace showed

  551. up in the middle of the war and it

  552. stopped the war. And I want you to

  553. understand the war that you may be going

  554. through in your mind, in your family, in

  555. your relationships, with your children,

  556. on the job, with the doctor in your

  557. body, Jesus, his peace is a warrior. And

  558. he has the ability to step in and calm

  559. and stop the fighting, the conflict, the

  560. chaos that is raging and roaring in your

  561. heart and in my mind. And when that

  562. happens, we begin to live at a different

  563. level. Jesus, his peace becomes our

  564. weapon. And now we're loaded with hope.

  565. Now we're loaded with confidence. Now

  566. we're loaded with joy. Not because the

  567. circumstances change, but because

  568. something changed inside of me. He's a

  569. He's a fighter. It's a warrior. It's a

  570. weapon.

  571. Here's the here's the final aspect of

  572. peace that I think we need to look at

  573. during this season. What did Jesus bring

  574. to us? Peace is a restorer.

  575. Life is messy.

  576. We We've all been broken.

  577. Y'all aren't going to help me a bit. All

  578. right. I need you to look at your

  579. neighbor right now and tell him, "I know

  580. you're a mess." Just just go ahead and

  581. just tell them, "I know you're a mess. I

  582. know you're a mess."

  583. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Look

  584. back at him. Tell him, "I am too. I am

  585. too." Just go ahead and admit it. I am

  586. too.

  587. And tell each other, "But I love you

  588. anyhow." That that's that's kind of how

  589. we roll, right? We we could we could put

  590. nice hats on messed up minds. We we can

  591. we can try to dress it up and act. But

  592. the truth is, if you really knew the

  593. person beside you and what they had been

  594. through, it would shock you what they

  595. have survived. If you got the chance to

  596. take them to Starbucks, sit down, have a

  597. cup of if you could go to Dunkin Donut

  598. and sit down and have a cup of coffee

  599. with them, you would be amazed when you

  600. hear their story as to what it is that

  601. they came through. You would find out

  602. that you're having coffee with a miracle

  603. right now.

  604. >> Amen. Because we have all come through

  605. some things that I promise you there was

  606. a plan of the enemy to take us out.

  607. You're not here because you're that

  608. good. You good, but you ain't that good.

  609. No. No. God has been good to you and

  610. he's been for you and standing with you

  611. and fighting with you. That's why you're

  612. here right now. DON'T GET IT TWISTED.

  613. Don't get it twisted.

  614. Life is messy. We've all been broken.

  615. But I want you to understand this. The

  616. peace of Jesus isn't just a person and

  617. it isn't just a mission and it isn't

  618. just a weapon. It's a peace that

  619. restores us. Isaiah chapter 26:3 says

  620. this. Read this with me. With perfect

  621. peace you will protect those whose minds

  622. cannot be changed because they trust

  623. you. Perfect peace. Nothing missing,

  624. nothing broken. I have put the full

  625. weight of my life on you and I'm not

  626. moving. I've come too far. I'm not

  627. bailing out. I'm holding on to you. I'm

  628. trusting you. Even when I can't see you,

  629. I'll trust your hand when I can't. I

  630. trust your heart when I can't see your

  631. hand moving. I know you're there. I'm

  632. holding on. There's many times I've come

  633. to church and you see me raise my hands

  634. and praise down here. And that's not

  635. because everything was going good. It's

  636. I was praising in spite of what was

  637. going on in my life. That was me holding

  638. on. That was me trusting God. I have

  639. stood up here and preached messages to

  640. you of hope only realizing I need that

  641. same hope in my life because of what I'm

  642. experiencing like you don't even

  643. understand. Don't don't ever think that

  644. just because I'm preaching it, I've got

  645. it together. Everybody in this room

  646. starting with the guy holding the mic.

  647. We need this hope. We need this peace.

  648. We need a perfect peace to restore us.

  649. None of us are going to escape this

  650. perfect peace. You'll protect those who

  651. refuse to bail.

  652. I'm not going to let someone trigger me

  653. on social media. I'm not going to let

  654. the issue with the child derail my hope

  655. in you. I don't like the news at the

  656. office, but I'm going to trust you in

  657. spite of it. I don't have time to go

  658. emotional and react on it. I'm going to

  659. back up. I'm going to breathe deep and

  660. I'm going to trust you, God, to walk me

  661. through this.

  662. I want you to imagine with me for just a

  663. second

  664. of a bowl, beautiful bowl that was

  665. crafted by a by a master master pottery

  666. maker. And he had etches and he had

  667. designs in it that were just gorgeous.

  668. And that bowl was was so beautiful and

  669. so handcrafted. It was set on a shelf so

  670. that when everybody came in this house,

  671. they would look at that shelf and go.

  672. It sat there beautifully for everyone to

  673. come in and admire.

  674. One day, an earthquake

  675. hits where that house is,

  676. and that bowl starts to shake on that

  677. shelf.

  678. And in just a few moments, it's off the

  679. shelf and it hits the ground and it

  680. shatters in a hundred pieces.

  681. It's everywhere.

  682. Shards went this way. Pieces flew that

  683. way. Big pieces, small pieces,

  684. fragments. It splattered and went un It

  685. went under the table. It's in the

  686. corner. It's un It's in the rug. It's

  687. under the furniture. It's everywhere.

  688. Gone.

  689. Our mindset, our western mindset that we

  690. think through says this. Sweep it up and

  691. throw it away.

  692. >> We'll go find another one. It's done.

  693. It's broken. Therefore, it's trash.

  694. What's amazing

  695. is in Japan, there is an art form that's

  696. called kinugi.

  697. Kugi is a is where they have these

  698. master designers and they look for

  699. broken pieces of art and pottery. So

  700. where the bowl falls off and hits and it

  701. splatters and a western mindset WOULD GO

  702. THROW IT AWAY. The the this master, this

  703. kugi master rushes in on his knees and

  704. begins to pick up the pieces. He begins

  705. to sweep up in the corners, not to throw

  706. away, but to just gather everything that

  707. was a part of this bowl. Everything

  708. about its original design. I want to

  709. find everything. The rim is here. Part

  710. of the bottom is there. Over to the

  711. side, I see I see some paint chip. Let

  712. me pull that in. He gathers everything.

  713. And what he's doing is that this master

  714. designer is actually performing, watch

  715. this, shalom.

  716. Peace over the bowl. Let me explain. The

  717. first thing he does is he ensures

  718. nothing is missing.

  719. >> I will gather all the pieces. Every

  720. shard, every sliver, I'm going to find

  721. all of it and gather it together. And

  722. the second thing he does is he assures

  723. not just that nothing is missing. Now,

  724. nothing is broken

  725. because he begins to lay these pieces

  726. out. And he doesn't go get gorilla glue

  727. or duct tape or superglue. No, he's got

  728. is this special lacquer that this master

  729. uses and inside the lacquer, it's dusted

  730. with gold. Literal gold. And he sits

  731. down and begins to put the pieces

  732. together. But the way that the pieces

  733. come together is with this lacquer that

  734. is filled with gold. So that every place

  735. the bowl was cracked, you see a vein of

  736. gold that begins to appear. That no

  737. longer does it look like just a

  738. shattered mess, but you you've got this

  739. beautiful picture of this bowl that is

  740. there where the pieces fell apart, but

  741. once it got to the master's hands and he

  742. began to put it back together, now the

  743. gold the scars turned to gold. where

  744. once it was ugly, now it makes it stand

  745. out. And here is what amazing. Not only

  746. does the bowl come back together and

  747. it's able to actually function in its

  748. full purpose. You could have your cereal

  749. in that bowl. You could do that. But you

  750. would never want to do that now because

  751. after the master finished with it, THE

  752. BOWL IS ACTUALLY more valuable now than

  753. it was before it was even broken.

  754. Because once it hit the master's hands,

  755. I'm not going to JUST PUT YOU BACK THE

  756. WAY YOU WERE, but I'm going to put you

  757. back with a greater investment. And

  758. people are going to look at you and

  759. first of all wonder, were you ever

  760. really broken to begin with? Because

  761. once the master put you back together,

  762. it's hard to really see the cracks. But

  763. when they do see the veins and the

  764. cracks and the scars, they're going to

  765. see golden grace filling each one of

  766. those scars. And now you become this

  767. beautiful picture. And these bowls that

  768. these these artisans are putting

  769. together are selling for the hundreds of

  770. thousands around the world because they

  771. have a whole different life about them.

  772. I want you to understand something. When

  773. things have fallen apart in your life,

  774. if you'll give the pieces to the master

  775. artisan, some will want to throw you

  776. away. But you've got one who is

  777. gathering the pieces because he sees the

  778. ability to restore you not to just what

  779. you were, but to put his added extra

  780. peace into your life and to make you

  781. even more valuable than you were before

  782. you were ever broken. Only Jesus and his

  783. peace can do that. And I want to show

  784. you what that looks like in real life.

  785. Watch this.

  786. I grew up in the church since I was

  787. little. Uh my parents served and were

  788. very involved. Turned 18.

  789. Um something changed and I wanted

  790. freedom and I knew I had it. I just

  791. wanted to experience life my way.

  792. You know, it it started out with hanging

  793. out with friends and partying.

  794. I started experimenting with drugs.

  795. I feel like that life completely

  796. consumed me. I went from one toxic

  797. relationship to another. I found myself

  798. in the bathroom covering up bruises all

  799. over my body and and and just asking

  800. myself, how did I how did I get here?

  801. Life really hit hard when I found myself

  802. sitting on the couch across from my

  803. boyfriend's parents telling me, you

  804. know, you can't have this baby. You have

  805. you have to get rid of it.

  806. I remember being in the bathroom in the

  807. bathtub,

  808. you know, the water running

  809. and sitting there doing what I always

  810. told myself I was I would never do. All

  811. my morals just left cuz an abortion was

  812. something I was so against. I literally

  813. felt my heart break and my heart sink.

  814. Sorry. I didn't

  815. I didn't do what I needed to do and turn

  816. to God. I just I went deeper down that

  817. rabbit hole. I tried everything. I I I

  818. did everything and nothing worked.

  819. I I needed to get out. And it it was the

  820. first time I heard I felt like I really

  821. heard God asking me, "Are what are you

  822. doing? Are you done?

  823. And that's when I made the decision to

  824. leave. I moved to Florida in 2017

  825. and came to Free Life Chapel and

  826. stepping into

  827. church was the first time I felt peace.

  828. I remember

  829. sitting in the second row and listening

  830. to Pastor Scott's sermon

  831. and instant chills with everything he

  832. said. And that's when it all that's when

  833. it all changed. That's when I actually

  834. wanted to keep coming back to church.

  835. 2018, April 2018,

  836. there was a baptism and I finally decide

  837. that it was time.

  838. A feeling I can't even explain.

  839. I was trying to figure out what my

  840. purpose was in life. So, I decided to

  841. take Activate in 2024.

  842. Not knowing what was going to happen.

  843. And I just I I wanted to know more about

  844. who God was. And I took it not realizing

  845. that it was the healing that I needed.

  846. Free Life is more than just uh church.

  847. It's family.

  848. And

  849. it's family I needed. You're never too

  850. far gone.

  851. I thought I was stepping into church and

  852. finally giving my life to God. The it

  853. felt like the pieces started coming

  854. together and I was able to be happy.

  855. >> Can you celebrate that? A life change.

  856. Christina and Troy usually sit right up

  857. here in the wing of the balcony every

  858. Sunday worshiping together.

  859. If you got around Christina, you would

  860. never know she'd been broken.

  861. >> You would never know her story. It It

  862. would not make sense because that's the

  863. work of Jesus. I want you to understand

  864. today,

  865. right now for your life, the prince of

  866. peace is on his knees looking for the

  867. pieces of your heart

  868. >> to put it back together again.

  869. >> He's going after the pieces of your joy

  870. that have been broken, your dreams that

  871. are missing, the gaps,

  872. the the the the the talent, the ability.

  873. He He He's looking for the missing

  874. pieces of your mind so that you can

  875. breathe deep and laugh real again.

  876. Ladies and gentlemen, he's not playing

  877. with you. He wants to heal you and seal

  878. the broken areas with his grace

  879. so that nothing's missing and nothing is

  880. broken in your life. Would you stand to

  881. your feet today?

  882. Peace is a person. His name is Jesus.

  883. Peace is a mission. He paid your sin

  884. debt.

  885. Peace is a weapon. He's fighting for you

  886. every day.

  887. Peace is a restorer.

  888. He's going to turn your brokenness into

  889. a masterpiece,

  890. but he needs you to trust him.

  891. All of it's available. And he says the

  892. next step is yours.

  893. And if you will dare take a step towards

  894. him and trust him, he'll wrap arms

  895. around you. He doesn't have elbows to

  896. throw. He's not going to pull up your

  897. past and throw it around. We've all got

  898. a past. We're all screwed in some area

  899. of our life. But when Jesus gets

  900. involved, he heals and puts together in

  901. ways that you can't even explain. And

  902. you will raise your head and you will be

  903. like Christina. I don't even look like

  904. where I came from because Jesus knows

  905. how to heal from the inside out. And

  906. that's where life really gets good.

  907. Would you bow your heads in this room?

  908. If you're here today and you say, "I

  909. need Jesus in my life, Scott. I need a

  910. real relationship with Jesus. I want to

  911. know him. I want to invite him in my

  912. heart. I won't I I'm not going to do

  913. this perfect. I know I still got issues

  914. and and I struggle in some areas. So,

  915. I'm I'm not claiming I'm going to live

  916. perfect, but I'm just saying I'll I'll

  917. talk to him and I'll keep coming after

  918. him. But I want to ask him into my life

  919. today to forgive me and change me. If

  920. that's what you're saying today and you

  921. want to pray that prayer, I'm going to

  922. pray it with you. On the count of three,

  923. I just want you to throw your hand up

  924. and pull it right back down. One, two,

  925. three. Where are you? Oh, yeah. My kind

  926. of people. You can you pull them down.

  927. Here's what's beautiful. Heaven saw your

  928. hand. And if you'll pray this prayer

  929. behind me, mean it with all your heart.

  930. You're going to be just as just as right

  931. with Jesus as anybody else in this room.

  932. Pray this. Say, "Jesus,

  933. >> Jesus,

  934. >> come into my heart.

  935. >> Take over my life.

  936. >> Take over my heart.

  937. >> I give you all of me.

  938. >> And I take all of you.

  939. >> I take all of you.

  940. >> Take all the brokenness.

  941. >> Take all the pieces.

  942. and do something special with it.

  943. >> In my life, in my life,

  944. >> heal me.

  945. >> Fight for me.

  946. >> Restore me.

  947. >> Give me purpose.

  948. >> Give my life back.

  949. >> Bring my dreams back.

  950. >> I take all of you.

  951. >> Take all of me.

  952. >> I'm yours.

  953. >> You're mine.

  954. >> In Jesus name.

  955. >> Amen.

  956. Can you just stop right there and give

  957. God thanks for that that that prayer

  958. right there, that moment. It's not cute.

  959. It's so special.

  960. And Father, I pray over all my friends

  961. in this room right now that are going

  962. through a broken season in their life

  963. and they feel like pieces are missing

  964. and they don't feel like they can get up

  965. and go on any anymore. People have been

  966. sweeping the pieces up to throw them

  967. away. But today, we're reminded of your

  968. grace, your love, your mercy that you

  969. never give up on us. You're always

  970. there. When religion walks out, you walk

  971. in. When family walks out, you walk in.

  972. When those that we depended on the most

  973. fail, you catch us. Thank you that

  974. you're for us and with us. And today,

  975. you're not coming to condemn. You're

  976. coming to lift and heal and encourage

  977. and pull back together. So today, thank

  978. you that you're what you do is unlike

  979. any other. Your peace that you give is

  980. unlike any other. We need it today, God.

  981. And I pray you would pour it into the

  982. hearts and minds and families of

  983. everybody in this room, business owners

  984. and moms and dads and students and and

  985. and and singles and and and grandparents

  986. and aunts and uncles. God, would you

  987. just bathe our hearts, our minds, our

  988. lives in whatever is going on that the

  989. peace inside of us would be raging so

  990. strong that nothing on the outside will

  991. ever uproot or move the foundation that

  992. we have in you today. Jesus, we admit we

  993. need you. We call on you. Peace has a

  994. name and it's Jesus. And today, as we

  995. call on you, we thank you that the

  996. mission that you have is to restore us

  997. and fight for us and put us back

  998. together again. You've paid our debt.

  999. We're here with a future that only you

1000. could give. God, thank you that you heal

  1001. all the way.

1002. We love you. We declare that we need you

1003. and we celebrate your activity in our

1004. life in Jesus name. Everybody said amen.

1005. >> Amen. Amen. One more time, would you put

  1006. those hands together?

1007. >> I hope that encouraged you today. For
