  4. to invite you to come check us out in

  5. person. I am so glad that you're tuning

  6. in to this online message, but it gets

  7. even better when we connect face to

  8. face. If you're ever in the Central

  9. Florida area, come check us out. I also

  10. want to encourage you to check out our

  11. website, freelifeetravel.org,

  12. to learn more about who we are, what we

  13. do, and how you can be a part. Now,

  14. let's get into what you've been waiting

  15. for. Check out this message.

  16. >> We are going to hit something today. A

  17. topic that I just uh it it was in my

  18. heart and I just got to talk to you cuz

  19. we family and we're going to go here

  20. today. We're going to we're going to

  21. lean into this. If you have your Bible,

  22. wave it at me. Where are the Bible

  23. carriers? The Bible bear. LOOK AT THE

  24. BIBLES. LET'S GO, SOMEBODY. Even people

  25. on the balcony brought Bibles. I'm

  26. loving that.

  27. Um, open your Bibles to the book of

  28. Matthew. The book of Matthew, chapter

    Matthew 16 chapter mention

  29. 16.

  30. Matthew, chapter 16. For those of you

    Matthew 16 chapter mention

  31. who don't have your Bibles, you're good.

  32. We love you, too. We're going to put

  33. some verses on the screen for you. But

  34. our goal this year is to lean into and

  35. become familiar with our Bible. Uh, this

  36. is my Bible. It's a message written to

  37. me from God on how to live my life. And

  38. we want to become familiar with this.

  39. Matthew chapter 16, verses 24 and 25.

    Matthew 16:24

  40. Uh, it check this out. Here's what it

  41. says. If anyone would come after me,

  42. let him deny himself and take up his

  43. cross and follow me. For whoever would

  44. save his life will lose it,

  45. >> but whoever loses his life

  46. will find it.

  47. >> Confessions of a pastor.

  48. These are the most conflicting

  49. difficult

  50. verses I think I can identify personally

  51. for me. These are the most difficult

  52. conflicting verses in the Bible in my

  53. opinion. They sting.

  54. This is I'm I'm just talking me. You you

  55. might have your own. These right here,

  56. they they hit different. They hit

  57. different because

  58. the Bible's telling us, "Deny yourself,

  59. take up your cross, and follow me."

  60. These are Jesus's works. Scott, pick up

  61. your cross, follow me.

  62. If you try to save your life, you're

  63. going to lose it. If you are willing to

  64. lose your life for my sake, then you're

  65. going to find it. The reason the this is

  66. so challenging and uncomfortable for me

  67. is it's very telling. It throws a mirror

  68. in my face and quite honestly it it

  69. calls it calls me out. It I'm not

  70. talking about you. I'm talking about me

  71. because I see a lot of areas and ways

  72. that I compromise my faith in Jesus.

  73. >> Yeah.

  74. >> Now, maybe you got it all together. You

  75. and your halo just sit right there and

  76. glow and just go ahead and blind the

  77. rest of us. But I'm just saying there's

  78. there's some of us that that that we've

  79. we've compromised carrying the cross

  80. like like we have we we've in following

  81. him there's been some challenges that we

  82. have. We've we've chosen social comfort

  83. over biblical conviction.

  84. >> Can can anybody relate with me or am I

  85. just maybe just preaching to me today?

  86. Okay. Good. Good. I'm I'm glad I'm glad

  87. to glad to hear that because because

  88. this is this is very in yourrface.

  89. In fact, let me just ask you, what kind

  90. of compromises have you made in your

  91. walk with Jesus?

  92. Netflix over DVOS and prayer.

  93. Uh um um maybe avoided telling someone

  94. the truth because you didn't want that

  95. awkward feeling in the room of I told

  96. them really what I thought,

  97. >> right?

  98. I I prioritized work and family

  99. activities

  100. over church on the weekend.

  101. Like, where have I backed up on Jesus?

  102. Where did I lay the cross down and walk

  103. away from it? Jesus said, "Pick it up

  104. and follow me." My My heart I don't know

  105. about yours, my heart gravitates towards

  106. compromise.

  107. >> Yeah. I the most natural thing I do is

  108. make excuses.

  109. >> I'll have you know we can make some good

  110. excuses. Yeah, you're right. Right. It's

  111. like the girl who you know the guy's

  112. really after her wants to take her out

  113. like what are you doing on Friday night?

  114. She don't want nothing to do with him.

  115. I'm washing my hair.

  116. What are you doing Saturday night?

  117. Drying it. Like you know like I I don't

  118. like like we we can make some excuses.

  119. But you know what excuses are, right?

  120. Excuses.

  121. Excuses are simply alibis to make us

  122. feel good about living in mediocrity.

  123. >> That's good.

  124. >> We make them. We deflect. But the truth

  125. is, we're still stuck in the same place

  126. we were. And it didn't make things any

  127. better. Oh, I got the pressure off of

  128. me. But the truth is, even though the

  129. excuse seemed to hit, it didn't really

  130. advance my life any

  131. pig and a chicken that were walking past

  132. a homeless shelter. And the chicken

  133. looks over at the pig and says, "We

  134. ought to go in there and give them

  135. breakfast."

  136. And the pig looks back at the chicken

  137. and says, "Yeah, for you it's a

  138. contribution.

  139. For me, it requires total commitment.

  140. There's just a little bit of difference

  141. between both of us supplying breakfast

  142. today. Can I tell you something? I'm not

  143. here calling you porky. I'm not saying

  144. that you are a pig. That's not how God

  145. looks at you. But what I am telling you

  146. is Jesus does not want your eggs.

  147. >> Jesus wants allin.

  148. Come out of the stands. Put on the

  149. jersey. Get on the court. Let's play the

  150. game. Let's go full court. You were made

  151. to play the game, not just watch the

  152. game. This is what I'm trying to talk

  153. about today because I want us to

  154. consider what we can what we could do to

  155. start putting God first in our life. Can

  156. can you think of just one area that you

  157. can that you could move your life

  158. forward in Jesus? One change you could

  159. make that would actually make me like

  160. this would be right. This would be good.

  161. This would this would focus my heart

  162. more on on God. I think if we're going

  163. to be honest, we can all find better

  164. ways to align our lives with the word

  165. and with and with God. And I want to

  166. talk about that today. How many of you

  167. have a favorite chair at home?

  168. Okay. H, you know, it's really

  169. interesting how there is an an unspoken

  170. rule in your house as to who sits in

  171. which chair.

  172. >> Yes.

  173. >> I How many of you have that favorite

  174. couch like if that's mom's chair? That's

  175. mom's chair. No one sits in mom's chair.

  176. Y'all got that? Okay. What? How? Dad's

  177. chair. Is there a dad's chair in the

  178. house? Like like if there's someone

  179. sitting in that chair and mom or dad

  180. walk in, everyone goes

  181. like they're getting ready to get kicked

  182. out of here right now. Like they broke

  183. this unspoken rule. Like around the

  184. table there's certain chairs that are

  185. kind of understood, right? That that's

  186. kind of how it rolls. How many you know

  187. some of y'all right now are sitting in

  188. your favorite chair right now. And if

  189. somebody was in your seat today, you

  190. would have, oh,

  191. we we we we have our we have our our our

  192. favorite chairs that we just kind of

  193. like TO SIT IN. TODAY, I WANT TO TALK TO

  194. YOU about the seat of your soul.

  195. Every area of your life, your your

  196. marriage, your finances, career,

  197. your thought process, every area of your

  198. life is sitting in one of three chairs.

  199. it. They're all situated. They've sat

  200. down and that's where they're resting

  201. right now. And and where which chair you

  202. have chosen decides what quality and the

  203. reality of your relationship with Jesus

  204. where you are. It determines if there's

  205. a legacy of faith coming after you or

  206. it's dead. Are you a fan or are you a

  207. follower? It it it starts to very much

  208. define who we are and where we are. And

  209. it becomes very telling for us. And I

  210. want to talk to you. I I want to show

  211. you today my my my my hope, my prayer is

  212. that what you see and I want to I want

  213. you give you a visual that if I can just

  214. say this in the most wonderful way that

  215. righteously haunts you that that it it

  216. speaks to you beginning to determine

  217. where am I in the seats. Have I chosen

  218. the right chair? The first chair I want

  219. to talk to you about is this chair right

  220. here.

  221. This is the chair of

  222. commitment.

  223. This right here is a work chair.

  224. Office chair, man. It spins. It's ready

  225. to go over here. We can get back to the

  226. computer here. We can get to a meeting

  227. here. Like it it it moves. It swivels.

  228. It's it's right in the face of what

  229. needs to happen. I can run myself over

  230. here, take care of this, back up over

  231. here. This is so much fun. I I I can I

  232. can hang I can get work done in this

  233. chair. This chair is structured to pick

  234. me up, keep me focused, good posture,

  235. boom, get some work done. This is a This

  236. is a work chair. It's a commitment

  237. chair.

  238. >> It It's a chair that states where if

  239. we're talking about our faith, I'm sold

  240. out for Christ.

  241. >> I I I've got convictions that hold me

  242. that are different than other folks

  243. around me.

  244. >> That's good. And here's what's a little

  245. difficult about this chair. If we're

  246. going to be honest, this chair makes you

  247. and I look outdated in culture.

  248. Makes you look oldfashioned. Y'all know

  249. what oldfashioned is. Sure you do. You

  250. going, you quiet and you cold. That's

  251. okay. I know. I know what it is. It's

  252. like you got those old ideas. Oh, you

  253. still believe that?

  254. >> Oh, you're one of those.

  255. And when you begin to walk with biblical

  256. convictions, living your life by that,

  257. that's your standard. That's your yes.

  258. That's your heart. That's the foundation

  259. of your life. That's how you look at

  260. life. All of a sudden, you realize that

  261. there are some things where there's

  262. going to be some some challenges. You

  263. you're at odds with some family members.

  264. Now, you're you're at odds. You see

  265. different than some people that you work

  266. with. I like them. I'm not throwing

  267. elbows, but we see things different. And

  268. I just can't go along with what you say

  269. and what you want to check off on. I

  270. just can't go that route. Social media,

  271. I don't agree with everything I see

  272. posted coming across. I just can't go.

  273. The news, the world, politics, there is

  274. a different ethos, a different mindset,

  275. a different heart, a different

  276. conviction, different lenses that I see

  277. through when I'm sitting in a chair of

  278. commitment to Christ. You see, here's

  279. what I need you to know. Jesus offers us

  280. new life. But for that new life to

  281. begin, our old life has to end.

  282. >> So the way I used to think, I don't

  283. think that way no more. Can anybody

  284. testify that once you gave your life to

  285. Jesus, some things changed in your life?

  286. >> Oh, they they they should that that they

  287. should and we're going to go here that

  288. they should be changing

  289. because here's what we have to realize.

  290. When we MAKE A HARD SHIFT toward Jesus

  291. and begin to walk in a place of

  292. commitment, you're going to have to

  293. handle some people exiting your life.

  294. >> Right.

  295. >> Amen. Welcome to Free Life Chapel today.

  296. >> You're going to you're going to HAVE TO

  297. HANDLE LOSING SOME FOLLOWERS,

  298. >> RIGHT?

  299. >> Everyone's not GOING TO BE SHOUTING YOU

  300. OUT AND GIVING YOU THUMBS up on social

  301. media. No, they're going to they're

  302. going to scandalize your reputation. Can

  303. you handle that? Because if you can't

  304. handle what I'm telling you about,

  305. you're going to bail out of chair one

  306. really quick. If I'm so addicted to

  307. people's opinion and being liked and

  308. being first and being approved, I will

  309. never be able to handle chair one. I'm

  310. always going to be seeking something

  311. different because people own me. People

  312. play me. People decide for me what I

  313. believe and what I want cuz I've got to

  314. fit in. I can't stand on my own. Chair

  315. one is a place of commitment. I know

  316. what I stand on. I know what I believe.

  317. and it will not be moved. You got to be

  318. willing to be misunderstood. You got to

  319. be willing to be cancelled.

  320. >> Pick up your cross

  321. and follow me.

  322. >> Everyone understands a cross is not a

  323. pretty thing. Right.

  324. >> Right. I know we cover them in gold and

  325. put them on our neck, but do you

  326. understand that that's basically you're

  327. wearing an electric chair, an execution

  328. chamber around your neck?

  329. In first century, when Jesus was

  330. crucified, that was the number one way

  331. that the Romans would put people that

  332. were killed on display, hang them

  333. publicly, strip them naked, beat the

  334. life life out of them, and watch them

  335. die a slow death on that cross. There

  336. was nothing beautiful. Oh, today we

  337. dress them up. And I'm not mad at you

  338. wearing your cross. I got crosses I

  339. wear. It's all good. All I'm saying is

  340. don't get it twisted. Understand when

  341. Jesus said, "Take up your cross." He was

  342. saying, "There's going to be some

  343. difficulty. There's going to be some

  344. struggle. There's going to be some pain.

  345. It's going to you're going to be talked

  346. about. People are going to walk away

  347. from you. This is not all kicks and

  348. giggles. This is not just going to be a

  349. bunch of ice cream with sprinkles on it.

  350. It doesn't roll that way. If you stand

  351. for something, people are not going to

  352. like it. Can you handle that?

  353. >> This is what God's word is telling us.

  354. Chair one, man, there's a bunch of Hall

  355. of Famers in the Bible that give us

  356. perspective of what of what it means to

  357. stand there. Y'all remember the three

  358. Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and

  359. Abedneo.

  360. >> These three Hebrew boys, they were they

  361. were in in Babylonian captivity, and

  362. King Nebuchadnezzar comes out and he

  363. says, "Here's what's going to happen.

  364. We've got a big a big idol uh furnace,

  365. big God here. I want everybody in this

  366. in the nation to bow at at in front of

  367. this God and the three Hebrew boys going

  368. I ain't bowing.

  369. THE WHOLE NATION was they didn't. Can

  370. you handle standing alone?

  371. The whole office says yes. You say no.

  372. The whole family wants to you can't do

  373. the ability to stand and hold on to that

  374. conviction on the inside of you. I'm

  375. committed to Christ and my commitment to

  376. Christ says no, I can't participate in

  377. that. No, I can't attend that. No, I

  378. won't be entertained by that. No,

  379. >> THAT'S GOOD.

  380. >> THERE'S GOT TO BE something that stands

  381. up in us. These three Hebrew boys said,

  382. "No, oh king, for what it's worth, we

  383. will not bend. We will not bow. And by

  384. the way, we will not burn because they

  385. came out the other side after he threw

  386. them in the furnace and they WERE JUST

  387. FINE." WHAT ABOUT NOAH? NOAH WAS

  388. REJECTED, MOCKED, ridiculed in his

  389. culture because he was preaching that

  390. there was this flood coming when they

  391. had never even seen A RAINDROP YET. BUT

  392. HE'S BUILDING THIS BIG BOAT NOWHERE near

  393. water, obeying God, mocked, laughed at,

  394. canceled only for God to save he and his

  395. family. What about THE APOSTLE PAUL?

  396. PAUL WAS BEATEN WITH RODS THREE times

  397. and spent years in prison because he

  398. would not stop preaching the gospel of

  399. Jesus CHRIST. I'M SO GLAD HE DIDN'T

  400. QUIT. We have twothirds of our New

  401. Testament because Paul said, "I know in

  402. whom I have BELIEVED AND I WILL not let

  403. go. I am not ashamed of the gospel OF

  404. JESUS CHRIST." AND BECAUSE of that, we

  405. have this thing called the Bible today

  406. THAT WE DRAW FROM. I'M so glad he didn't

  407. back out and run for his faith. What

  408. about Daniel? Daniel chose to spend the

  409. night with a den of lions over skipping

  410. one prayer service.

  411. You can't have my prayer. I'm talking to

  412. God.

  413. Th this this is a chair of commitment.

  414. Lean in. Hold on tight. This is what we

  415. do. You see, these men had decided and

  416. you and I have to decide. The Bible is

  417. our standard, not popularity and not

  418. politics. I don't look to polls in order

  419. to find out what truth is.

  420. >> I don't need to hear the sway or what

  421. public opinion thinks. I've got truth.

  422. The Bible tells me that his word is

  423. truth. And I will live my life by this

  424. book right here. And this book right

  425. here is going to force me to treat

  426. everybody right. Even people that I

  427. don't want to treat right. It makes me

  428. treat people right. It's not about me

  429. throwing elbows because I'm right and

  430. you're wrong. It's the fact that I'm so

  431. jacked up. I need a standard in my life

  432. that's not always changing every other

  433. week based on who's speaking the

  434. loudest. I need truth in my life. And

  435. that's what God's word does.

  436. >> John 14:15. Read this out loud with me.

    John 14:15

  437. Here's what it says. If you love me, you

  438. will obey my commandments. Oh, read it

  439. now without an attitude. Read it here.

  440. If you love me, you will obey my

  441. commandments. If you love me,

  442. if you love me,

  443. you'll obey my word

  444. if you love me.

  445. On the count of three, would everyone

  446. just say, "Ouch." One, two, three.

  447. >> I know it stings me, too.

  448. >> It's one of these verses, two of these

  449. verses that I want to scratch out of my

  450. Bible, but there it is. Take up your

  451. cross.

  452. >> Follow me. I can't get around those

  453. verses. I have to live that. That's a

  454. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. That's when

  455. I'm on vacation. THAT'S EVEN WHEN I'M

  456. WHEN I'M AT WALMART.

  457. >> LIKE, you got to LIVE BY THIS STUFF.

  458. LIKE, WHEREVER YOU ARE, this is the call

  459. of our life. Number one is a chair of

  460. commitment.

  461. Number two

  462. is nice and cushy.

  463. This right here, this this chair is

  464. nice. This is plush. This feels good.

  465. That's a little stiff. This is nice

  466. right here. If you had to sit all day in

  467. one chair, which one would you choose?

  468. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because it's the

  469. chair of compromise.

  470. >> Oh, it's a lot more comfortable than

  471. that stiff thing. That stiff thing is

  472. always telling me stuff to do and stuff

  473. not to do. That that chair has way too

  474. many opinions.

  475. This chair, my opinion is the one that

  476. rules what I decide, what I what do I

  477. feel like today.

  478. Hey Jesus, bless me.

  479. Th this this chair fits me really good.

  480. Oh man. And it's they're so close

  481. together.

  482. This this this this chair of compromise

  483. is really interesting. It's I'm saved,

  484. but Jesus is really more of an

  485. acquaintance

  486. than he is my Lord. In fact, let me just

  487. put it this way. The save button is

  488. clicked, but the follow button isn't

  489. working.

  490. See, number two, that's a dangerous

  491. chair. That's a dangerous chair. In in

  492. the Bible, we got this guy named Paul. I

  493. just told you, beaten with rods, thrown

  494. in prison for years. This guy was

  495. traveling and preaching Jesus and

  496. planting churches all throughout the

  497. non-Jewish region. And he had some guys

  498. with him. He had a guy named Mark. He

  499. had a guy named Luke. He had a guy named

  500. Deus. These three guys were his

  501. traveling companions. They were watching

  502. miracles take place. They're planting

  503. churches. They're ministering. They're

  504. preaching on the streets. They're

  505. watching people give their lives to

  506. Jesus over and over. In fact, the Bible

  507. said in in in Phileiman uh chapter 1 and

  508. in Colossians chapter 4, all three of

    Colossians 4 chapter mention

  509. these guys, Mark, Luke, and Deeus are

  510. all talked about because they're right

  511. there with Paul. I mean, watching all

  512. this go down, Paul, LIKE THIS IS PAUL.

  513. TWOTHIRDS of the New Testament, he wrote

  514. it. They're right there with him.

  515. Amazing things going on. AND THEN

  516. SOMETHING, YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME,

  517. happens

  518. in 2 Timothy 4:10.

    2 Timothy 4:10

  519. Here's what it says. Deeus

  520. has deserted me because he loves the

  521. things of this life.

  522. What? Who puts that in the Bible? Can't

  523. we just keep it all highlights? Do we

  524. have to jump into low lightss? Also, do

  525. we have to like spit that out? That's

  526. like the you you you took me into the

  527. kitchen and show me the nasty kitchen.

  528. Just leave me in the dining room where

  529. everything is nice. But the Bible pulls

  530. no punches. He said Deeus was one of the

  531. guys that miracles were being worked.

  532. Deeus is one of the guys that were

  533. preaching. Deeus is one OF THE GUYS WHO

  534. WERE HELPING TO PLANT CHURCHES. And

  535. Deeus hit a place in his life where he

  536. decided he wanted the world and what it

  537. offers more than he wants Jesus.

  538. I choose chair two instead of chair one.

  539. Deus walked away. It crushed Paul's

  540. heart. Here's what I want you to

  541. understand.

  542. Former faith is no guarantee of future

  543. faithfulness.

  544. I'm so glad you said yes to Jesus a few

  545. years ago, but that doesn't mean you're

  546. still saying yes today.

  547. >> You and I have to decide every day.

  548. Someone shout every day.

  549. >> Every day.

  550. >> Every day. You got you and I have got to

  551. decide. This is the day the Lord has

  552. made. As for me in my house,

  553. >> going to serve the Lord. Let's go. Let's

  554. go. I know it's a Monday and I'm going

  555. to need some Jesus today, but that's

  556. okay. We're going to do this. I I'm I'm

  557. leaning on him like like like it it it

  558. it takes that but former faith it

  559. doesn't guarantee that future

  560. faithfulness. Israel Israel IS A NATION.

  561. THEY WERE IN EGYPT. THEY WERE LOCKED

  562. DOWN AND THE BIBLE SAYS THAT THEY WERE

  563. TOOK BLOOD and they put on the doorpost

  564. of their house. The death angel passed

  565. by and they were released. They were

  566. broken free. They had faith enough TO

  567. FOLLOW GOD'S INSTRUCTION TO GET THEM OUT

  568. OF EGYPT. BUT GOD'S PLAN WASN'T JUST TO

  569. GET THEM OUT OF EGYPT, OUT OF SLAVERY,

  570. BUT TO TAKE them into a promised land.

  571. They had enough FAITH FOR GOD TO GET

  572. THEM OUT of the slavery, out of the

  573. bondage, out of Egypt. But when they got

  574. to the wilderness, they stopped acting

  575. in faith. And that entire generation

  576. died in the wilderness and never

  577. experienced the promise.

  578. >> Here's what I want you to understand.

  579. Talking faith and living faithful are

  580. different things.

  581. >> I know what it is to be really good at

  582. sitting in this chair talking faith. I

  583. know enough about the Bible to have a

  584. conversation, talk it out, and even to

  585. the point that I will take a few verses

  586. here and there, and I could almost

  587. justify my compromise

  588. >> because I'm talking it, I'm just not

  589. living it.

  590. I'm really good at laying the cross down

  591. and making excuses for it

  592. and trying to make sure I feel better

  593. about it. You see, the the chair of

  594. compromise is a dangerous chair.

  595. It lives

  596. like chair two, but it talks like chair

  597. one.

  598. >> Yeah,

  599. >> I know. It sucketh, doesn't it? Just

  600. like like this. This is this is what's

  601. so dangerous. I can be serving Jesus a

  602. long time and somehow find myself here

  603. still talking that language. I'm talking

  604. it, but I'm not living it.

  605. >> I slid over and I'm not sure when the

  606. slide took place. They're so close

  607. together and I can still say the same

  608. things that I used to say when I was

  609. there, but but but the results and my

  610. lifestyle are locked up in that. Let me

  611. just kind of help you identify. I stand

  612. for Christ until it's no longer popular.

  613. Then I back away. I I I see Jesus as

  614. love just not as authority.

  615. >> Decisions and lifestyle are now

  616. selfsatisfying.

  617. I'm chasing whatever feels good to me.

  618. Entertainment

  619. decisions, language in my life, they're

  620. still cringe. They're not where they

  621. should be. My I'm my career is more

  622. important than my calling. Sunday

  623. worship is now optional. I have to

  624. decide every Sunday if I'm going or not.

  625. I'm more concerned with success than I

  626. am surrender to Jesus.

  627. >> This right here, this chair of

  628. commitment, this chair of conviction, it

  629. holds the line. This one right here

  630. learns to try to play a little bit of

  631. both worlds at the same time. I'm not

  632. mad at Jesus. I don't hate Jesus. I SAID

  633. YES TO JESUS, but I'm living me. I'M NOT

  634. LIVING HIM. I'M talking him, but I'm

  635. living me.

  636. >> And this is where this scripture, THIS

  637. IS WHY THIS SCRIPTURE GETS ON my nerves.

  638. TAKE UP YOUR CROSS AND FOLLOW ME. THAT

  639. MEANS I DON'T HAVE TIME TO LAY IT DOWN.

  640. BETWEEN HERE AND THERE, there's a cross

  641. on the ground. Somebody laid it down.

  642. And you and I have got to make sure that

  643. our hearts and our minds and our

  644. spirits, ESPECIALLY LIVING IN THIS

  645. CULTURE THAT we're living in right now

  646. with heresy and foolishness being

  647. preached on social media THAT WILL GIVE

  648. YOU A license to feel good about the

  649. hatred in your heart towards other

  650. people. STUFF THAT YOU'LL SEE WHERE WE

  651. FEEL BIGOTED and elitist like we're so

  652. much better. Well, at least I'm not like

  653. them. And we're comparing oursel to

  654. people as opposed to Jesus. That's

  655. right.

  656. >> Jesus is the one that we're going to be

  657. looking at. Jesus is who I'm trying to

  658. emulate. And when I fell in my life,

  659. it's because I fell from his standard.

  660. >> We have to live our lives differently.

  661. Chair 2 is a dangerous place. Jesus

  662. said, Jesus said, "My followers can't

  663. serve two masters."

  664. In other words, no compromise.

  665. But you know what? I kind of get it. I

  666. feel the same way.

  667. You probably do, too. No compromise. I'm

  668. not sharing my wife with another man,

  669. >> just in case you're wondering. I just,

  670. you know, I just kind of throw that out

  671. there. No compromise. Well, that just

  672. sounds so bigoted that you're just

  673. trying to control. Oh, you better

  674. believe it.

  675. >> Smith and Wesson will help me. They're

  676. two good friends of mine. We will take

  677. care of this right now. Oh, yeah. Don't

  678. get it twisted. Mhm. Yeah. Mr.

  679. Springfield's standing right behind him.

  680. I'm just telling you right now, we can

  681. take care of this. They got a brother

  682. named Glock. All of those guys were

  683. getting we we deal with this.

  684. I I'm

  685. No, she's mine. Relationship.

  686. >> I don't share that. JESUS IS SAYING,

  687. "WAIT A MINUTE. YOU'RE MINE.

  688. >> I DIED FOR YOU.

  689. >> I GAVE IT ALL FOR YOU.

  690. >> YOU ASKED ME TO SAVE YOU. I TOOK YOU

  691. SERIOUS. I DID. I LIFTED ALL YOUR SINS.

  692. I COMPLETELY CHANGED YOUR STATUS. LET'S

  693. GO."

  694. >> Praise God.

  695. >> He has A RIGHT. I GET HIM. I don't share

  696. my wife. I don't share my REESEI CUPS.

  697. THERE'S TWO THINGS IN LIFE YOU JUST

  698. DON'T LET GO. YOU GOT TO FIGHT. YOU GOT

  699. TO KNOW WHAT MATTERS.

  700. You and Reese's. Those are two. You're

  701. You're first. I said you first, though.

  702. I said you first.

  703. WATCH. WATCH. WATCH. WATCH. WE GOT TO

  704. HURRY. COMMITMENT CHAIR ONE. THIS RIGHT

  705. HERE IS THE GOAL, Y'ALL. THIS RIGHT

  706. HERE.

  707. COMPROMISE. OH, it's plush.

  708. >> It feels so good. It talks like that

  709. chair, but it just lives like this

  710. chair.

  711. >> And then you got this one over here.

  712. You all have a good day today. God bless

  713. you.

  714. This one right here,

  715. this is chair three.

  716. And this is the chair of culture,

  717. commitment, compromise, culture.

  718. This one right here, the reason this is

  719. because people that are here are just

  720. asleep.

  721. They don't even know that there's even

  722. other chairs in life.

  723. >> I'm just I'm just No, this is great.

  724. Just just asleep. And can I tell you

  725. there are precious, wonderful people on

  726. this couch.

  727. >> I'm not mad at any of them.

  728. >> They just don't know who Jesus is.

  729. >> And what he gives and the joy of knowing

  730. him and serving him and loving him and

  731. the connection, the blessing that flows,

  732. the promise. They don't know that. So,

  733. they just they just sleeping their life

  734. away. I was I was just like them. And in

  735. fact, if I didn't know Jesus, I'd be

  736. sitting right there beside him

  737. >> doing some crazy stuff.

  738. Y'all ought to be glad I'm saved.

  739. >> Oh no, y'all.

  740. Amen. Would you turn to someone and tell

  741. them, "You better be glad I'm saved,

  742. too. You just you you you better be

  743. glad." Yeah. No. No. Exactly. Cuz I

  744. would not be hanging with you.

  745. >> Without Jesus, I'd be sitting RIGHT

  746. BESIDE HIM. GOD IS NOT INCLUDED in their

  747. text thread. Do you understand? Like

  748. like they're not communicating with him.

  749. He's not a part of wondering what his

  750. word says and and and what his opinion.

  751. They don't care about that. No, that's

  752. the C. THEY THEY OUT. IT'S DONE. SO SO

  753. LET ME JUST KIND OF HELP YOU. WE GOT TO

  754. MAKE A PIVOT real quick. Seat number one

  755. is the seat of commitment and it's

  756. solid. Seat number two is A SEAT OF

  757. COMPROMISE and it's slippery.

  758. >> Seat number three is a seat of culture

  759. and it's just sleepy.

  760. You can live solid, slippery, or sleepy.

  761. But you got to choose one.

  762. >> You can't live all three.

  763. >> The only seat that works is number one.

  764. Because seat number two deceives.

  765. >> It'll make you think and it will talk

  766. like it's sitting in one.

  767. >> Yep.

  768. >> While it's living in two and sliding

  769. towards three. Yeah.

  770. >> This is why the Bible says that the day

  771. is coming that people will look Jesus in

  772. the face and he will say, "Depart from

  773. me.

  774. >> I never knew you."

  775. >> BUT DIDN'T WE PROPHESY IN YOUR I never

  776. knew you.

  777. You talked it well. You had no heart

  778. commitment for me.

  779. You see, here's what I want you to

  780. understand.

  781. Jesus gets you saved, but God is the one

  782. who owns you.

  783. >> I need him for salvation. But he doesn't

  784. stop there. They come in a package

  785. agreement.

  786. >> When I gave Jesus my life, my sins, my

  787. debt is gone. God says, "Now you're

  788. mine. Now let me make you what you were

  789. always intended to be." This is how this

  790. world lives. Matthew chapter 20 22:37,

    Matthew 20 chapter mention

  791. here's what Jesus said. Jesus replied,

  792. "You must love the Lord your God with

  793. all your heart, all your soul, and all

  794. your mind." Let me just translate it for

  795. you real quickly. Put God first in every

  796. aspect of your life.

  797. Everyone shout, "God is everything."

  798. >> God is everything.

  799. >> Yeah. God is every and God is thing. God

  800. is everything. He is all that. That's

  801. who he is and that's how we have to live

  802. our life. You and I have eventually got

  803. to stop circling the airport and we got

  804. to land the plane on who Jesus is.

  805. >> Jesus looked at the disciples one day

  806. and said, "Who do people say that I am?"

  807. Well, some say you're this, some say

  808. you're that. He goes, "Who do you say

  809. that I am?

  810. You are the Christ, the son of the

  811. living God."

  812. And Jesus said, "Yeah, people didn't

  813. teach you that. That came from my

  814. father."

  815. There are some things that he wants to

  816. teach and show us and draw us to him

  817. that we can only know when we do it his

  818. way. You see, chair one has a benefit

  819. package. Why would we do that? Well, let

  820. me just remind you real quick. The Bible

  821. says in Psalm 37:5, it says, "Commit

    Psalms 37:5

  822. your way to the Lord. Trust him

  823. and he will act."

  824. Trust him and he will act. Say, "And he

  825. will act and he will act." You trust

  826. him. Commit your way. trust him and God

  827. activates into your life and starts

  828. doing things for you that you can't do

  829. for yourself. Watch this. Here's a

  830. couple things that he does according to

  831. your word. Divine authority is on your

  832. life because you're sitting in chair

  833. one. God is backing your life. You don't

  834. have to fight, squabble, but the power

  835. and the authority of heaven is on your

  836. side. The supernatural provision is

  837. yours because you're sitting in chair

  838. one. Open heavens over your life. I'm

  839. walking in obedience. God has to be the

  840. supplier, provider of my life. Number

  841. three, uncommon favor is on your life.

  842. There's an extra level of kindness.

  843. There's a there there's a preferential

  844. treatment that hits you from both God

  845. and man. God is not a respector of

  846. people, but he is a respector of

  847. commitment and faith and those who are

  848. pursuing him. You have a right to claim

  849. that word. The fourth thing, you have an

  850. internal strength. The Bible says that

  851. God did that God did not give us a

  852. spirit of fear, but of power, love, and

  853. a sound mind. Ladies and gentlemen, when

  854. you got power, love, and a sound mind

  855. operating in you, you're not rocked by

  856. what people say, by what people do, by

  857. what Washington decides. I'm good. I'm

  858. solid. I've got peace in my heart.

  859. Despite what it looks like out there,

  860. everything is all right here. The fifth

  861. thing that we see that we get as a

  862. benefit package for living in chair

  863. number one is a generational legacy. Oh,

  864. it is time to stop living off of

  865. generational curses and passing on

  866. brokenness in our heritage and say,

  867. "We're going to turn this thing and pass

  868. generational blessings on a legacy of

  869. faith. My children are going to know

  870. Jesus and their kids, and we're going to

  871. watch Jesus rise up in our home." 2

  872. Chronicles 16 actually tells us God

  873. supports those who are fully committed

  874. to him.

  875. We can live this. You can live in chair

  876. one. I'm not saying you're going to live

  877. it perfect. You know how many times I

  878. fall out of this chair?

  879. I fall out of it. I'm I'm I'm not I'm

  880. not perfect here. And I find myself like

  881. sometimes getting really close here.

  882. >> Sure does look nicer over there. Jesus,

  883. why didn't you make this one so

  884. comfortable?

  885. And I got to keep as much daylight

  886. there as I can. I don't want to play

  887. close to it. I want to stay away from

  888. it.

  889. >> I I There are voices that will draw you

  890. into that. There's relationships that

  891. will draw you closer there. There who

  892. you follow. You You think social media

  893. is just fun just to follow stuff. Their

  894. opinion will eventually get in your

  895. head.

  896. >> Lamentations 3 says, "My eye affected my

  897. heart. What I saw began to draw my heart

  898. in places that I didn't want to go." Why

  899. do you think Deus walked away from Paul

  900. watching miracles happen? God's power

  901. presence happening everywhere and all of

  902. a sudden, how is it a man that was

  903. involved like that walks away

  904. because he fell in love with what the

  905. world was offering?

  906. He got this chair too close. He had some

  907. voices in his head. He was having

  908. conversations he didn't need to have.

  909. >> He found entertainment that he knew was

  910. wrong, but he found a way of enjoying

  911. it. That compromise, that little twist.

  912. And the closer these chairs get

  913. together, the closer we are to changing

  914. seats. When you and I decide the

  915. commitment chair one is the only

  916. standard for my life, that changes

  917. things. And it sounds like

  918. a declaration that was found years ago

  919. in the office of a young African pastor

  920. in Zimbabwe.

  921. And I want you to hear this man's

  922. resolve regarding his faith with Jesus.

  923. He wrote, and I quote,

  924. "I'm a part of the fellowship of the

  925. unashamed.

  926. I have Holy Spirit power. The die has

  927. been cast. I have stepped over the line.

  928. The decision has been made. I'm a a

  929. disciple of his. I won't look back, let

  930. up, slow down, back away, or be still.

  931. My past is redeemed. My present makes

  932. sense. My future is secure. I'm finished

  933. and done with low living, sight walking,

  934. small planning, smooth knees, colorless

  935. dreams, tamed visions, worldly talk,

  936. cheap giving, and dwarfed goals. I no

  937. longer need preeminence, prosperity,

  938. position, promotions, plaudits, or

  939. popularity. I don't have to be right. I

  940. don't have to be first, tops,

  941. recognized, praised, regarded, or

  942. rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on

  943. his presence, walk by patience, am

  944. uplifted by prayer, and labor by power.

  945. My face is set, my gate is fast, my goal

  946. is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is

  947. rough, my companions are few, my guide

  948. is reliable, my mission is clear. I

  949. cannot be bought, compromised,

  950. detourred, lured away, turned back,

  951. deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch

  952. in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in

  953. the presence of enemy, ponder at the

  954. pool of popularity, or meander in the

  955. maze of mediocrity. I won't give up,

  956. shut up, let up until I have stayed up,

  957. stored up, prayed up, paid up, preached

  958. up for the cause of Christ. I am a

  959. disciple of Jesus. I must go till he

  960. comes, give till I drop, preach till

  961. I'll know, and work till he stops me.

  962. And when he comes for his own, he will

  963. have no problem recognizing me. Would

  964. you stand to your feet, please?

  965. >> That that I just read to you,

  966. chair one.

  967. >> Yeah.

  968. >> And can I tell you something? Because I

  969. know our humanity.

  970. He wrote that and he struggled staying

  971. in chair one.

  972. >> Yeah.

  973. >> Because he's a human,

  974. >> right?

  975. >> Like you and I.

  976. But you and I have to have that

  977. attitude,

  978. >> right?

  979. >> That whatever it takes,

  980. it's Jesus.

  981. >> I don't care if the government calls it

  982. legal. Whatever it takes to please him.

  983. >> I don't care if it's sanctioned,

  984. celebrated, applauded, popular. Whatever

  985. pleases him

  986. >> is what's right in my life. So if you're

  987. in chair one, stay seated.

  988. If you're in chair two, get up and go

  989. sit down in chair one.

  990. If you're in chair three,

  991. wake up.

  992. Get up and go sit down in chair one

  993. because that is the only way to true

  994. life.

  995. >> I want us to pray today.

  996. Now listen, this message calls me out

  997. like it calls you out. Some of y'all are

  998. mad at me right now. Oh, you got to love

  999. me to go to heaven. So, deal with that.

  1000. It's it's it's telling it gets in our

  1001. face.

1002. And when I look at these, while I was

1003. while I was studying for this yesterday,

1004. I'm like, dang, that chair one chair two

1005. thing is no joke. It pulls on us. Chair

  1006. two talks loud.

1007. Chair two has people that I love in it.

1008. Chair two has stuff that feels good. And

1009. it doesn't mean I got to curse Jesus. It

1010. just means I'm trying to do a whole lot

1011. of me and a little bit of him. Like I'm

1012. I'm pulling the levers and and Jesus is

1013. saying I'm not here to be played.

1014. Either we do it or we don't. Let's go.

1015. >> And when you fall down, get up. I'm

  1016. here. I love you.

  1017. >> We'll put this back together. Let's go.

1018. But just when you get up, don't slide to

1019. chair two. Stay in chair one.

1020. >> Come back. Let's stay on this game. I

1021. want to ask you to bow your heads in the

  1022. room today.

1023. If you're here and you say, "Scott, if

1024. I'm going to be real honest with you,

1025. I'm laying down on the couch. I'm in

1026. chair three right now. I'm sleeping.

1027. I've never given my life to Jesus.

  1028. I've heard a lot about Jesus, but I've

1029. never really prayed that prayer. I've

1030. never committed my life to him.

1031. And I realize that I need him in my

1032. life. He's not just a way, he is the

1033. way. And I need him. I want him today. I

1034. want to give my life to Jesus." Not

1035. going to embarrass you, but I am going

1036. to ask you to raise your hand just to

1037. signify that you're going to pray this

1038. prayer with me because we're going to

1039. pray it together. On the count of three,

1040. if you're saying, "Scott, I'm coming off

1041. of chair three." I'm going to chair one.

1042. I want you to throw your hand in the

1043. air. One, two, three. Where are you?

1044. Come on. Oh, yeah. I love you all. I

1045. love you all. My kind of people. Hands

1046. up throughout this room. You can pull

1047. those hands down. Everyone pray this

  1048. together. Say, "Jesus,

  1049. >> Jesus,

  1050. >> I'm waking up.

  1051. >> I'm coming to you.

1052. >> No more living for me.

1053. >> No more living to me. I'm living for

  1054. you.

  1055. >> I'm living for you.

  1056. >> Forgive me.

  1057. >> Change me.

  1058. >> Take away

  1059. >> everything

1060. >> that is not you.

  1061. >> And give me

  1062. >> everything

  1063. >> that you promised.

  1064. >> You promised.

  1065. >> I love you.

  1066. >> I will serve you.

  1067. >> I will serve you

1068. >> to the best of my ability.

1069. >> The best of my ability.

1070. >> For the rest of my life.

  1071. >> I choose

  1072. >> chair one.

  1073. >> Chair one.

  1074. >> In Jesus name.

1075. >> in Jesus name. Can you put your hands

1076. together and celebrate all those who

1077. just prayed that prayer for the first

  1078. time? Come on. That's that's huge.

  1079. That's huge.

  1080. I love you all.

1081. Now, here's how we all are going to

1082. pray. Cuz you see this next prayer, my

1083. prayer will do nothing for you cuz I

1084. can't make commitments on your part. I

1085. got to pray my prayer. You have to pray

1086. this one for yourself. And I don't know

1087. what step you need to take towards

1088. Jesus, but I want you to get something

1089. in mind of what you can do to move your

1090. life towards him to step out of get off

1091. of chair two and get back to chair one.

1092. What's it going to take to get back here

1093. for you? I want you to get that in your

1094. heart and your spirit. We're going to

1095. pray. I'm going to lead you in prayer,

  1096. but I I don't want you listen to me. I

1097. want you praying. Lord, I'm coming back.

1098. The compromise is over. Commitment is in

  1099. my heart. 2026.

  1100. I'm a fullcourt believer. I'm here to

1101. play. Father, today we are all in this

1102. room and we struggle between chair one

1103. and chair two. Chair two is so much more

1104. comfortable. And chair one, it's easy to

1105. fall out of it sometimes.

1106. Carrying our cross, it's heavy. You know

1107. that. But we continue to choose you

1108. today. And in the middle of our

1109. flakiness and excuses and compromise,

  1110. today we're just coming raw. We're

1111. coming clean. We're being real and I'm

1112. done making excuses. I want to live this

1113. life strong for you. I don't want to

1114. play with you. I don't want to be

1115. talking about you more than I'm living

1116. for you. And today, God, I pray that you

1117. would convict and lead and draw us back

1118. into a place of of putting the jersey on

1119. and going full court with you, a true

  1120. place of commitment.

1121. Today, God, convict us and lead us. Holy

1122. Spirit, do what you do best in letting

1123. us feel your love, your draw, and remind

1124. us of the benefits of the blessing, of

1125. the increase that goes with proclaiming

1126. Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It's the

1127. only way to live. Every other chair

1128. leads to death and defeat, but this

1129. chair will lead to promises and blessing

1130. and a future that can only be secured by

1131. heaven. God, thank you for the option of

1132. getting up and getting back in the

1133. chair. And we do that today. We

1134. resituate oursel. We're going to sit

1135. down in chair one. We're going to sit

1136. down in commitment. We're going to sit

1137. back down in our conviction. Sit back

1138. down in our love for you. Sit back down

1139. in serving in your house again, God.

1140. We're not going to play with other

1141. options. You are the only option for my

1142. life. And I move towards you now. It's

1143. for me and my house, me and my home, my

1144. private time, my public time, my time of

1145. vacation, my time here. It does not

1146. matter. I will serve you to the best of

1147. my ability. So, Holy Spirit, turn up the

1148. volume of your voice in my life. convict

1149. me, lead me, draw me, let me hear your

1150. voice of correction and let me hear your

1151. voice of celebration. But God, I pray

1152. for a relationship with you that is so

1153. real through the rest of this year that

1154. it changes everything in my world. We

1155. live for the audience of one, your

1156. approval. And today, God, I pray that

1157. you would smile in our hearts and our

1158. lives as we take steps back towards you

1159. again in Jesus name. Everybody said,

  1160. "Amen."

  1161. >> Amen.

1162. >> Amen. Amen. And if you receive that

1163. today, come on and put those hands

  1164. together one more time.

1165. >> We really hope this message encouraged

1166. you. For more encouraging messages, feel
