-
for you. I hope you're encouraged.
-
>> Hey, this is a big game today. Super
-
Bowl, Patriots and the Seahawks. And
-
quite honestly, when you look at the
-
stats, when you look at the numbers,
-
quite honestly, this game going down
-
today is a miracle. It's a miracle. The
-
Patriots at the beginning of the season
-
were at 80 to1 odds of making it this
-
year.
-
>> Seahawks were 65 to1 odds of making it
-
this year. Th this is a real life
-
wildcard story. That's what I want to
-
talk to you about. the wild card, like
-
the unexpected, like you've got to be
-
kidding me. Let me give you some some
-
context. The Patriots, last year, 2024
-
season, they had four wins for the
-
entire season and 13 losses.
-
This year, they have 14 wins and three
-
losses. Like, they completely turn the
-
script like that. Last year, they were
-
the ultimate broken team. this year.
-
You've got to be kidding me. First year
-
brand new head coach Vrabel along with a
-
secondyear quarterback May and they have
-
led something that has shocked the NFL
-
of what they have done. You got to give
-
them their props. The wildcard factor
-
that quite honestly when you look at the
-
Patriots is they they defied every
-
scouting report. No one anticipated them
-
being here in the big game right now.
-
They were rated middle of the pack, just
-
mediocre, but they arrived here. The
-
Seahawks, Seahawks had the same kind of
-
same kind of vibe, like wildcar mindset
-
to get them here in the 2025 season this
-
year. They also 14 wins, three losses.
-
They showed up. But really, the story
-
related to the Seahawks is regarding
-
their quarterback Sam Darnold. like
-
this. This guy, it's his first year with
-
the Seahawks, but you need to understand
-
about this cat. He he this is
-
interesting. He was considered a draft
-
bust. Back in 18, 2018, when he was
-
first drafted, everybody thought he's
-
going to be the next greatest thing, all
-
this, and he came on strong, but then
-
all of a sudden began to bottom out
-
quick. He struggled. He was with the
-
Jets, then he's with the Panthers, then
-
he went to the 49ers, and then the
-
Vikings, and then eventually landed with
-
the Seahawks this year. And towards the
-
end of those, he was playing backup
-
quarterback. He wasn't even starting. He
-
was just kind of in the roster and
-
hanging out on the bench waiting for his
-
turn. In fact, he was just called a
-
journeyman. He was just kind of going
-
here and there. And which team was going
-
to pick him up next and have him as a
-
backup quarterback.
-
Wild card. He went from a ridiculous
-
castoff to actually becoming a Super
-
Bowl starter this year and leading an
-
offense that has the world's attention.
-
This is the clash that's going to hit
-
today. It's amazing. In fact, let me
-
just put it this way. The Patriots
-
season, they were predicted to only win
-
six games, win six games and lose seven
-
games this year. The result, 14 wins,
-
three losses. Sam Darnold, yeah, this
-
guy, he was just that journeyman. As I
-
told you, the backup guy today, Super
-
Bowl starter. probability of both of
-
these teams meeting in the Super Bowl
-
today. 08%
-
chance of them being in the Super Bowl
-
today. The result, they're playing at
-
6:30.
-
>> In other words, you can't always check
-
the odds to determine what the next
-
thing about to happen is.
-
>> Odds and numbers and statistics will lie
-
to you.
-
>> Not just in football, in your life, too.
-
You see, according to the stats, these
-
teams should not be playing together
-
today. They should not be playing
-
against each other. But let me ask you
-
something. What about your life?
-
Is your life a wild card moment?
-
Can you admit that you probably should
-
not be where you are right now? Things
-
should have been a whole lot worse in
-
your world than where you're living
-
right now. Like with where you where
-
you're situ I'm not saying everything is
-
perfect, but the truth is I mean you're
-
here. There's a lot of other places you
-
could be, should be. You didn't get
-
caught. That's all I'm saying. That's
-
all I'm saying. Like like like the the
-
improbable odds of changing or turning
-
or winning. Like it doesn't really look
-
good based on on where I am. But I want
-
to encourage you. Don't let the odds
-
tell you what God's promises can't do.
-
>> I came here to push back a little bit
-
today on what you think is going on in
-
your life. And I'm going to rain on pity
-
parties for just a little bit today. I
-
got some good news. I got some hope
-
because I serve a God who is famous for
-
defying the odds in people's lives. And
-
that's a good place to lean in and go,
-
that's my God right there. In fact,
-
check this out. Job 5:9. I want you to
-
read this with me. Read it loud. Read it
-
proud. Use your Pulk County outside
-
voice. Are you ready? Here we go. He's
-
famous for great and unexpected acts.
-
There's no end,
-
>> no end to his surprises.
-
>> It's what he does. It's who he is. You
-
were expecting one thing. Let me go. We
-
deserved one thing and we got something
-
different in return. You see, when God
-
decides to move in your life, the odds
-
are no longer against you. Because if
-
God is for you,
-
>> who can be against you?
-
>> Who can be against you? This is the good
-
news. I want I I want you to understand
-
that the Bible the Bible is filled with
-
wild card stories. I'm not just talking
-
about a game where guys are going to run
-
a piece of pig skin a h 100red yards up
-
and down a field today and and and it's
-
not going to matter in 10 years what
-
happened there. I want to talk about
-
something more important wild card and
-
that's you. The Bible is filled with
-
wildcard stories of you've got to be
-
kidding me. That just happened. What
-
about this one? This This is an
-
interesting. There's this guy named
-
Mphibicheth.
-
Sidebar. If you're going to have a baby
-
anytime soon,
-
I probably wouldn't recommend
-
Mphibicheth cuz it'll be the eighth
-
grade before he'll be able to spell his
-
own name. You understand? Like that.
-
That's what do they call him? Meth or
-
fib or whatever. I don't know. But but
-
anyway, Mphibicheth. Okay, so check
-
this. Mphibicheth was in the lineage of
-
King Saul. King Saul was this twisted
-
guy. Lost his mind and and and just he
-
he he just he just went kind of cray
-
cray. And and Mphibicheth is his
-
grandson.
-
When King David came in and took over
-
the throne from King Saul, man, all of
-
King Saul's family were considered
-
enemies against King David. And so
-
typically what would happen is the kings
-
would wipe out any of that lineage.
-
But something different happened. You
-
see Mphibicheth, he was hurt. He was
-
damaged. When he was young, somebody was
-
carrying him was running. And the Bible
-
says he was dropped and became crippled
-
in his legs. He could not walk. And so
-
although he was born in born into
-
royalty, he was born into a corrupt
-
lineage that was being hunted down. And
-
now he's crippled and depending on
-
somebody else to even move him around.
-
He looked like anything but royalty.
-
King David steps in and instead of going
-
after and killing all of King Saul's
-
relatives, David says, "I'm looking for
-
any of King Saul's family that has left
-
that I can show honor to them."
-
>> And he goes after and Mphibicheth finds
-
out King David's after him. And Fibby,
-
he is not about this. You understand?
-
Like if he's coming after me, I can't
-
run nowhere. like I'm done. He's going
-
to take me out. But David, when he found
-
Mphibicheth, not only did David show him
-
kindness, he brought him into the
-
kingdom, brought him into the palace,
-
put him at the king's table, restored
-
his inheritance, and when he moved
-
Mashibbeth, Mphibicheth up to the table
-
to eat with everybody else, you could
-
tell no difference between Mphibicheth
-
and everybody else because everybody is
-
sitting around the table. And David
-
restored Mphibicheth. It is a wildcard
-
story. There is no way this young man
-
should ever have experienced that kind
-
of life. But that's what God does. He
-
gives unexpected opportunity.
-
>> You see, he takes the weak, he takes the
-
unexpected. He takes the unqualified,
-
the damaged and the despised,
-
and he defies the odds with these
-
people. He He restores them completely.
-
1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 27 says
-
this, "God chose the foolish things of
-
the world to shame the wise." God chose
-
the weak things of the world to shame
-
the strong. Right now, you're looking at
-
something foolish.
-
You're looking at something weak. Oh, I
-
know we we don't like to talk that way.
-
We do our best that we can, and we got
-
so many filters to make sure we look
-
strong on social media. We're always
-
making sure we we run through several
-
filters and take 19 pictures to make
-
sure we get that right look. Oh, that
-
hair is out of the way. Oh, no. My ear
-
looks really big there. Like, we're
-
doing everything to make sure we got it
-
all going on. But if we're just going to
-
keep it 100% real in this place, all of
-
us know that we got these weak, busted
-
up areas in our life that we're walking
-
around, we're putting nice hats on,
-
messed up minds, we're showing throwing
-
filters all over struggles in families,
-
and we're trying to make it look good.
-
But if the truth be known, our low light
-
reel is more has more footage than our
-
highlight reel does.
-
>> We're all struggling in this room. Every
-
one of us have difficulty. But the Bible
-
says that God chooses those who
-
recognize their weakness. He's not
-
looking for somebody who says they have
-
it all together. It's someone someone is
-
strong when they can admit life is above
-
my pay grade and I need God to help me
-
with it. There are situations coming
-
that I can't handle. I can't write a
-
check and fix it. I can't network this
-
thing away. I can't ignore it away. It's
-
I need an answer and it's beyond me. I
-
need God in my life. And that's exactly
-
what he does for us.
-
So, what odds are stacked against your
-
life?
-
You're not Mphibicheth, but maybe you
-
got some things in your you got a busted
-
home.
-
May maybe maybe you've been abandoned.
-
you you you walked through an addiction
-
or or are there right now you dropped
-
out of school. The education isn't where
-
it needs to be. You're dealing with
-
poverty right now. You got a sickness, a
-
disease that that you're going a failed
-
business. Uh maybe you did time or you
-
are doing time. All my pulseci brothers,
-
I just want you to know this message
-
works for you like it works for
-
everybody. Nobody is left out. We all
-
need a turnaround. God can make all of
-
us a wild card.
-
I just need you to know today. I just
-
need you to understand today, whether
-
self-inflicted wounds or you've been
-
victimized, God has the ability to
-
restore you. And he's coming after you,
-
looking for you, not to punish you, but
-
to bless you, to heal you, and to lift
-
you higher than you can get on your own,
-
to restore to you the promises that
-
Jesus died to give you. In other words,
-
God is not consulting your past to
-
determine your future.
-
>> That was then, this is now, and the best
-
is yet to come. So if you feel like
-
today, if you feel like you're you're
-
you're just a long shot, then I want you
-
to know that you're exactly who God is
-
looking for. Because once you and I
-
recognize, I need him, that's when he
-
does his best work in our life. You may
-
see a .08%
-
chance of probability of you doing
-
anything in life. And God says, "That's
-
the odds I'm looking for. Let's go blow
-
everybody's mind." And that's what he'll
-
do when we just turn ourselves over to
-
him. There's another wild card that I
-
think is really cool in the Bible. Her
-
name is Esther.
-
You know her by Esther, but but but the
-
truth is this. That's not her real name.
-
The Bible says her real name is Hadassa.
-
Hadassessa. Hadassa is her government
-
name.
-
And Esther is like is her house name
-
like Okay. So, so what's the difference?
-
Hadassa is a Jewish girl. Hadassa is a
-
Jewish name. Esther is a Persian name.
-
It was a Persian name because Hadassa is
-
in Persia. She's in a government. She's
-
in a country where her people are not
-
she they are the minority. And she
-
wanted to join in. There was this big
-
beauty pageant going on getting ready
-
for the king to select a new queen. And
-
so she had to go through this grueling
-
like torturous
-
oney year preparation getting ready for
-
this pageant. She had facials and
-
manicures and massages and and and like
-
a solid year, the Bible says, a solid
-
year of preparation. And the king chose
-
Esther to be his queen. And while that's
-
amazing by itself, a Persian girl, she's
-
out of she she doesn't belong here only
-
for her to rise to the ranks that now
-
she's the queen of this entire province.
-
She realized that she wasn't there just
-
to be queen. She was there to have a
-
place where she had an opportunity to do
-
something that God was using her for.
-
And that was this. She had to talk to
-
the king. She had to be brave enough to
-
have a conversation with the king that
-
could cost her her life. You see, there
-
was a guy named Hmon. And Hmon hated
-
every Jew in the province. And he had a
-
law passed where gallows were built and
-
they were going to hang every Jew. and
-
Esther aka well Hadassa aka Esther she
-
approached the king and when she went to
-
the king on her own she literally took
-
her life into her own hands because
-
nobody does that she could walk in and
-
approach him and he could have her head
-
taken off or she could have mercy but
-
she said this I'm here for such a time
-
as this
-
>> I'm going to do what I can and let God
-
handle the rest she walked in talked to
-
the king favor was on her side and the
-
man who built the gallows was hung on
-
his own gallows. And God saved all of
-
the people. Here's what I'm trying to
-
tell you today. God has an unexpected
-
position for you. Not just an
-
opportunity, but he wants to move you
-
into positions that you can't get on
-
your own. So, he can use your life to
-
begin to affect and impact and bless
-
other people. God's God's plan doesn't
-
leave you on the bench as a spectator.
-
No, no, no, no. He has a plan to put you
-
in the starting lineup and use you
-
beyond anything you ever imagined
-
possible. Yes, you. Yes, you. Yes, you.
-
Not your neighbor. I'm talking to you.
-
God has your name on his starting
-
roster. And he wants to do something in
-
your life.
-
1 Peter chapter 2:es 9-10 say this. You
-
are the ones chosen by God. Chosen for
-
the high calling of priestly work.
-
Chosen to be a holy people. God's
-
instruments to do his work and speak out
-
for him. To tell others of the night and
-
day difference he made for you. From
-
nothing to something, from rejected to
-
accepted.
-
God is calling and he's telling us, I
-
need you to break your mindset. I need
-
you to stop living down to culture's
-
expectations. Stop living down to the
-
way family talks. And I need you to live
-
up to my promises in your life. Break
-
the mindset that says it can't happen so
-
that he can launch your wildcard
-
comeback in life. Just the same way he
-
did it with Esther. He can do the same
-
with you. That's why Romans chapter 12
Romans 12 chapter mention
-
tells us this. Don't become so well
-
adjusted to your culture that you fit
-
into it without even thinking. Instead,
-
fix your attention on God. You'll be
-
changed from the inside.
-
>> You got to change your mind. If you're
-
going to change your world,
-
>> the way you think is what you become.
-
And if you and I keep living off of
-
social media, social media and culture
-
will own you for the rest of your life.
-
>> They will control you and manipulate
-
you, and they will take you where they
-
want you to go. And you'll never find a
-
rhythm, a pace, a perspective, a dream
-
that you can live out. We have go. So
-
got to be careful of the voices that are
-
entering the ears that because voices
-
are determining the choices in your
-
life. I've got to if I'm going to go
-
where God wants me to go, I've got to
-
have the right people in my life. Would
-
you turn to someone, tell them, are you
-
the right person in my life? Just ask
-
them, are you the right person in my
-
life?
-
You you you got to check. And I'm just
-
I'm just here to tell I'm giving
-
everyone permission to change friends.
-
No, I'm I'm just telling you like don't
-
change don't change seats right now.
-
That'd be really bad. But I'm just
-
saying just because they entered your
-
life in one season doesn't mean they get
-
to stay. If you can't lift me and
-
encourage me and tell me who God's about
-
to make me, then I got to step and find
-
somebody who's got hope and joy and
-
peace and the promise of God. I didn't
-
come to play. I'm not promised a
-
thousand years on this earth. I got a
-
limited time. And while I'm here, I want
-
God to do something with my life. He's
-
given me opportunity, but he's also
-
given me position. And I want to do
-
something with it. You see, just as a
-
team is going to get a fresh set of
-
downs to move the ball today, God's
-
mercies are new in your life every
-
morning, giving you another chance to
-
get up and follow him. In other words,
-
just because God's working in your life
-
doesn't mean you're going to do it
-
perfect. We fall down and get up and
-
fall down and get up and we
-
>> fall down
-
>> and get up and then we
-
>> fall down
-
>> and we get back up and then we
-
>> fall down.
-
>> The Bible says a good man, a righteous
-
person falls seven times and gets back
-
up. They they they they keep getting
-
back up. It's not it's not about the
-
perfection of you and I never falling.
-
It's the fact that you're going to fall
-
tomorrow. Shoot, who am I kidding? Some
-
of us are already falling down today,
-
man. That's how we roll. Like like we we
-
got stuff. WE'RE STRUGGLING. I GOT
-
ISSUES. YOU GOT ISSUES. You want to see
-
what issues look like? Look at your
-
neighbor. There's issues right there. WE
-
ALL GOT ISSUES in our life. WE ALL WE
-
ALL PUT ON BETTER THAN WE'RE ACTUALLY
-
LIVING. Where it's It's not We're not
-
being hypocritical. We're doing the best
-
we can. We're presenting the best, but
-
we got struggles on the inside. And the
-
soonest that you and I can admit that
-
and say, "Look, I'm doing the best I
-
can, but I need Jesus to make up the
-
rest." There's areas I'm missing it. I'm
-
not able to do everything I should. I
-
need God in my life. It's not daily
-
perfection. It's daily pursuit.
-
>> God has unexpected plans for your life.
-
You need to hear that. Yes, sir.
-
>> You don't hear that enough.
-
>> You don't hear that enough. You hear
-
where you're blowing at. You hear where
-
you're wrong. You hear where you messed
-
up. And you know who all that mess is
-
coming from? You.
-
>> You are the worst voice against
-
yourself.
-
You and I chew ourselves up and spit
-
out. The truth is I I I I just quite
-
honestly think that some of the demons
-
that were in our life are actually on
-
full-time retirement because we're doing
-
a good enough job all by yourself.
-
Could talk so negative and so hard that
-
I just cancel me out and I've just
-
decided God would never want me. God
-
would never use me.
-
>> And I want you to know that's a lie. You
-
and I have got to change our mind so we
-
can become who he said God has
-
unexpected plans for your life. Here's
-
here's here's the third and f I could go
-
on all day on these wild cards in the
-
Bible, but here's another one. This guy
-
named Gideon.
-
This is a cool one right here. Gideon
-
reminds me of me.
-
Weak, afraid,
-
pastor. Oh, baby, if you only
-
understood. How, you know, we all got
-
some areas in our life that if we just
-
going to be real honest about it. Oh, we
-
can walk all big in bed, but inside we
-
like screaming like a little girl,
-
right? Like like So, watch this. Gideon.
-
The Bible says that the Midionites, the
-
Midionites were this army that hated
-
Israel. And they were encamped all
-
around Israel. And Midionites were
-
coming in and stealing cattle, stealing
-
sheep, stealing all the crops out of the
-
field. And Israel couldn't do jack about
-
it. They stole it at will. And Israel
-
just had to deal with it. And the Bible
-
says that Gideon, this big, brave,
-
robust guy,
-
was hiding behind a well
-
and a handful of wheat that he was
-
trying. He was looking, checking out the
-
the the the landscape to make sure he
-
could run back to his house without
-
getting caught by the Medidianites,
-
taking some food back to his house. And
-
while he's down here hiding behind a
-
well, this is not my opinion. This is
-
Bible. The Bible says an angel showed
-
up. Say, "Yo, Gideon, what's up?"
-
How do you know God knows where you're
-
hiding?
-
>> He knows all your secret places.
-
He knows all those little pockets you go
-
to get away from people and how we
-
escape the truth and how we go here. Oh,
-
but man, it he he he knows, right? And
-
and he says that and here's what the
-
angel does. The angel addresses Gideon.
-
Yo, you mighty man of valor.
-
There's only one of us down here and you
-
cannot be talking to me right now.
-
Do you know why the angel called Gideon
-
a mighty man of valor right there?
-
Because God is always talking to you
-
about your future, never your present.
-
>> He's always building and talking about
-
where you're going. He sees you through
-
the lens of my promise coming to pass in
-
your life. That's why he calls you the
-
head and not the tail. You will lend and
-
not borrow. Lend and not borrow. I think
-
I should just sign for bankruptcy a year
-
ago. Oh baby, he's going to turn that
-
around. It's a wildcard opportunity in
-
your life for God to spend this thing.
-
But you got to change your mind so that
-
you can allow him to step in. Because
-
when this hits, it changes everything.
-
And the Bible says that Gideon, he stood
-
up and he said, "All right, God. If you
-
want to use my life, let's roll." And
-
the Bible says that there was 32,000
-
Medidianites.
-
And when Gideon went to battle, he had
-
300.
-
In case you didn't know, those are not
-
good odds.
-
>> 300 against 32,000.
-
But those are the wildcard odds God's
-
willing to run in your life. Only for
-
Gideon to equip all of his warriors with
-
a trumpet in one hand and a pitcher in
-
the other that had a light in it, a
-
flame. And here's what God said. Blow
-
the trumpets and break the pictures. And
-
when it breaks the pitcher, the oxygen
-
is going to hit the flame and it's going
-
to go bright and it's going to freak out
-
the Midionites. And it did. And the
-
Bible says that Gideon and his 300,
-
they routed, they wiped out all the
-
Midionites, and they didn't have to
-
fight one of them themselves.
-
>> They saw the flames hit and the
-
Midionites thought they were surrounded.
-
And they ran for their lives. They left
-
fried chicken on the stove. They had
-
biscuits and gravy waiting there. They
-
just walked in and got to sit up like
-
like they got hooked up because God
-
knows how to care for his own. Here's
-
what I'm trying to tell you. Not only
-
does God have unexpected opportunity,
-
not only does God have unexpected
-
position, God has unexpected power in
-
your life that when you and I just trust
-
him, he does something that we can't do.
-
You see, God knows our weaknesses, our
-
inabilities. He knows our fears
-
and still chooses us.
-
>> It's not because you got it together.
-
>> It's because you don't.
-
It's your weakness that qualifies you,
-
not your perfection.
-
If you can't admit you're weak, then no
-
one can help you.
-
Until you come off that delusion, until
-
I quit lying to me, and then I welcome
-
him into my life, and then God can do
-
things for me that I could never do for
-
myself. Here's I got I I just need to
-
make a public service announcement. The
-
life you're living is above your pay
-
grade.
-
>> You don't have the ability to live it on
-
your own. Do you think you know how to
-
run a marriage?
-
>> Have you ever tried parenting without
-
Jesus?
-
>> Have you ever driven on Florida Avenue
-
without Jesus?
-
>> Like, are you serious?
-
>> Like, no. Like, in every area of our
-
life, I need him. Would you, would
-
someone shout, I need him. I need him.
-
>> Acts 1:8 says this. You will receive
-
power and ability when the Holy Spirit
-
comes upon you. In other words, God's
-
God's spirit's coming on you to empower
-
you so that he can use your life and my
-
life for his glory. It's God in you that
-
makes you strong. It's God in you that
-
makes you bold in you that makes you
-
able. It's God in you that makes you
-
victorious. We don't do this separate
-
from him. It's only in him. Gideon's
-
odds were horrible, but Gideon's God was
-
unstoppable.
-
>> And that's a game changer. That turned
-
him into a wild card. Let me close with
-
this.
-
Years ago, actually, in the 1800s,
-
we going way back, like we skipped the
-
1900s, went to the 1800s. Y
-
in the 1800s
-
in the Louv. The Louv is the largest art
-
studio
-
in the world. It's in Paris.
-
And there was a a tour guide leading at
-
that time a group of athletes.
-
Some have questioned if it was like
-
during the Olympic time, but a group of
-
athletes that were well known and
-
leading them through and just touring
-
and they were looking at all the
-
paintings, these these beautiful
-
renderings, these these artwork. It just
-
amazing.
-
In that group touring with them was a
-
man, his name was Paul Morphe. Paul was
-
the world champion grandmaster chess
-
player.
-
He dominated the world in chess. No one
-
could beat him. And he's in this group
-
and the tour is going on and the tour
-
guy's leading through and they they came
-
to this one this one this portrait and
-
the portrait was entitled Checkmate.
-
And the portrait was a picture of Satan
-
playing chess against a Christian.
-
You can see the angel standing there
-
looking over the Christian trying to
-
encourage him. But the Christian is
-
distraught,
-
perplexed,
-
done, stuck.
-
And Satan is enjoying this moment
-
because Satan has the Christian in a
-
spot that he's done. Checkmate.
-
It's over. I got you.
-
As the tour guide
-
told what was happening, the tour group
-
kept going on. But this this grand
-
champion chess player
-
was stuck just watching and looking at
-
the portrait. He was intrigued. And as
-
the tour group goes on, they went on
-
down to another room and then they
-
realized the tour tour leader said,
-
"Wait a minute. We're missing someone.
-
Where where?" And they came back to get
-
this guy. When they walked up, they
-
said, "I'm sorry that the tour group is
-
moving on. can can you come and go with
-
us? And and and and Paul looked back and
-
he said, "You do understand. I'm a
-
grandmaster
-
chess player dominating the world,
-
right?" Yes, we understand. And we
-
understand why this portrait would be
-
very intriguing to you. He said, "Hold
-
on. You understand that I have the
-
ability to look at the landscape of a
-
chessboard and see what nobody else can
-
see.
-
>> I've spent years I've spent my life
-
studying chessboards. I know pieces. I
-
know moves. I I understand this. And the
-
tour group said, "Yes, we we understand
-
that you are the world's best, Paul."
-
No, no doubt. He goes, "Well, well,
-
here's what I need you to understand."
-
He's speaking back to the tour guide.
-
"You're going to have to either change
-
the name of the picture or change the
-
painting because according to what I see
-
on that board, the king still has one
-
move.
-
It's called checkmate.
-
because it's done. It's over.
-
But when the grandmaster looked at it,
-
>> one who could see from a different
-
perspective than anybody else, I see one
-
more move. In other words, the king was
-
not trapped. The king still has one more
-
move. I I need you to understand today.
-
You have looked at the portrait of your
-
life and you may feel like you are in a
-
checkmate right now and the game is over
-
and the odds are against you. There's no
-
way out. Hell is laughing. All the
-
pressure is building and you think it's
-
done and people have walked by, waved at
-
you and pied you and kept on walking.
-
But when the grandmaster of your life
-
steps into your portrait and begins to
-
look at your situation, he sees what
-
nobody else can see in your life. And he
-
knows, he knows that the king has one
-
more move in your life. It's not over. I
-
know it looks bad, but you need the king
-
to move in a position that's going to
-
rearrange every situation that you're
-
facing right now. You don't see a way
-
out. You're not built to see a way out.
-
It's going to take God to get you out of
-
and through this situation. But that's
-
exactly what he does. God's got one more
-
play, one more move in your life. It's
-
not over. He's going to turn you into a
-
wildcard situation. He's going to flip
-
it to where it's defied all of the odds.
-
You're not disqualified because of your
-
mistakes. And people are not able to
-
discard you. They can't do that. It's
-
beyond their pay grade. And you're not
-
at the end. And the experts, they may
-
call you a long shot. And the stats may
-
call you an underdog. And the culture
-
may call you a bust. But in God's
-
opinion, you're just a wild card. And
-
he's going to give you an opportunity.
-
He's going to give you position. He's
-
going to give you power. And he's going
-
to turn it around for his glory and for
-
your good. Would you please stand to
-
your feet?
-
>> Here's one thing I know.
-
You'll never have enough money,
-
education, friends, or influence to do
-
life the way Jesus will do it with you.
-
And you and I can choose to live at a
-
second rate level of life or walk in the
-
fullness that he can give. That's it.
-
>> He doesn't mind you blessed. He wants
-
you blessed. It's a part of his
-
promises.
-
>> But I know folks that you and I would
-
look at and go, man, they got it all
-
going on, but they have a hard time
-
sleeping at night because there's no
-
peace in their heart and the home is a
-
mess and they have no future to look at.
-
and they're scrambling to impress people
-
that don't even know them.
-
There's something better to live for. A
-
restored house, laughter in your heart,
-
blessing in your future, health in your
-
body, health in your mind, kids that are
-
together that you're enjoying a legacy.
-
You got a community around that are
-
uplifting and serving. Ladies and
-
gentlemen, welcome to the body of
-
Christ.
-
That's what Jesus died for. There's no
-
reason for you and I to back out, to tap
-
out of that opportunity. Again, let me
-
remind you,
-
Job chapter 5:9,
-
he's famous for great and unexpected
-
acts. There's no end to his surprise.
-
Could you use God pulling a surprise in
-
your life today?
-
Would it be all right if he got involved
-
and messed with some stuff that you've
-
been messing with and it's only getting
-
worse?
-
He knows what to do. And here's the
-
deal. He needs you to admit, I need you.
-
I need you. I can't do this. I need you.
-
You become a man when you can admit, I
-
need him.
-
>> Oh, listen. All your deltoys and biceps
-
and your traps. Good for you. You can't
-
push that anxiety off your life.
-
>> You can't press that off. No, it's going
-
to take Jesus.
-
Ladies,
-
you can paint it up and you can pump it
-
up. But I promise you, you're going to
-
need Jesus to hold it up at the end of
-
the day.
-
We need Jesus.
-
I don't care what situation, scenario,
-
what what you throw at him. We all need
-
him. We all fall short today. Can we
-
just admit I need you?
-
>> And in my needing you, I'm not going to
-
do it perfect. I'm going to fall down
-
and make a mess of some things and I'm
-
I'm going to have to get back up again.
-
He's going, "All right, good. Just dust
-
yourself off. Let's go." It's pursuit.
-
It's not perfection. I want to ask you
-
to bow your heads all through this
-
place.
-
If you're here and you say, "Scott, I
-
need Jesus in my life today.
-
I need Jesus. I'm making the step today.
-
I'm sitting at a board and it's
-
checkmate in my eyes. But I need the
-
king to make one more move. I need him
-
to do what I can't see. I need him to
-
turn a heart. I need him to heal this
-
home. I need him to give me a picture of
-
the future. I need him to give me some
-
wisdom. I need some direction. I need
-
him to heal my body. The doctors are out
-
of answers. The counselors have no
-
answers. It's going to take God whatever
-
is going on. He is able and he's famous
-
for doing this in people's lives and
-
he'll do it for you. If you're here and
-
you say, "Scott, I need Jesus in my
-
life. I want to invite him in to be my
-
Lord and my Savior." On the count of
-
three, I want you to throw your hands
-
high in the air. One, two, three. Right
-
now, where are you? Oh my goodness. Oh
-
my goodness. Hands down. Thank you.
-
There was hundreds of hands that just
-
went up in this room today. I want all
-
of you to pray this prayer with me. Say,
-
"Jesus,
-
>> Jesus,
-
>> come into my life.
-
>> Forgive me.
-
>> Change me.
-
>> Heal me.
-
>> Make a move.
-
>> In my life
-
>> that I can't see.
-
>> I can't see.
-
>> I need you.
-
>> I can't do this.
-
>> Without you.
-
>> Without you,
-
>> but with you.
-
>> With you.
-
>> This life
-
>> is possible.
-
>> Is possible.
-
>> Take all of me.
-
>> Take all of you.
-
>> I take all of you.
-
>> Take all of you.
-
>> In Jesus name.
-
>> In Jesus name. Amen. Can you put those
-
hands together for folks who just made
-
the greatest move of their life?
-
Let me tell you something. I love people
-
who can keep it 100% real with Jesus.
-
Man, you're my kind of people because
-
we've just got to we got to get real. We
-
we got to stop playing and we just got
-
to get to the heart to the bone of where
-
we're living. And I need Jesus. Cindy
-
and I need him. You need him. We all do.
-
And so I love the fact that you can
-
admit that in your own life. Now, here's
-
what I want to do. I want to pray for
-
you and whatever you're going through, I
-
want to pray that the one who makes
-
wildcard decisions happen that he's
-
going to invade your life. Heavenly
-
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray
-
over this room, this auditorium, I pray
-
for those watching online, my brothers
-
at Pokeci right now that God, wherever
-
we are, that God, your presence, your
-
power, your love, your hope, your joy,
-
your miracles would move into situations
-
and that you would turn things that
-
nobody can get credit for. In the midst
-
of the pain, in the midst of the
-
failure, in the midst of the questions,
-
I'm asking, God, that you would show up
-
unexpected, sit down in the situation,
-
begin to heal a heart, begin to open
-
doors, bring a favor and a peace, God,
-
amaze and shock the doctors, blow the
-
counselor's mind. I pray that the kids
-
would come back home. I pray, God, the
-
addiction would be broken. I thank you,
-
God, you give answers and wisdom going
-
forward in the name of Jesus. God, today
-
do something that only you can get the
-
credit for. It's beyond our education,
-
beyond our pay grade, beyond our
-
networking. I can't do this. It's going
-
to take you. But God, that's when you
-
show off and you do your best. When I'm
-
at the end of me, that's when I meet you
-
for the first time. Today, God, we do
-
that. We throw our hands up and we
-
invite you in to work in our homes, work
-
in our lives, work in our mind, and help
-
us to declare and speak and see the
-
things that you promised. We will be
-
committed to you and we will chase and
-
work with and through you so that you
-
can get the best of our life. Thank you
-
today. Thank you for the opportunity.
-
Thank you for the position. Thank you
-
for the power that we have because of
-
Jesus. It's in your wonderful name we
-
pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. Would you put
-
those hands together one more time?
-
